writings of the apostle Paul,

And where is our anatomy?

In us. It's inside of us.

The anatomy of
righteousness is Christ in us;

going to read verses 1, 2, 3,

Version, it says, "sons of God."

The inference there
in the actual Greek is,

of God," it's inclusive.

Because it's important
for women and men to know

that first verse very quickly.

It's a love that is
carnal, a love that is sensual,

So the Lord says,
"Don't allow My love

So now you go to 1

Father has bestowed on us..."

The word, "love," is
now used differently.

It's no longer the
éros love, as in 1 John 2,

but it's now agape love.

And when we say,
"unconditional," I want to

qualify that very quickly,

because the Lord
does not love us...

As a matter of fact,
the only one that loves

love you like a brother."

Do we all want to know we're
moving in the right direction,

So here, as we look at the
steps, we have to begin with

the realization that
we are God's children now.

But if you've ever had children,
the one thing a parent wants

to know is that his or
her, or their children or child

is moving in
the right direction.

You don't just bring a
child in the world and say,

"You choose your own direction."

Some parents do that.

But that's not smart.

"You train up a child
in the way they should go."

So when we follow the Lord,
the whole thing we're going to

point out today
is, we are not content

just to be children of God.

We've got to know that we're
moving in the right direction.

And even though
righteousness comes from Jesus,

there's something we
must do on a daily basis

to maintain that righteousness.

Let me go on further because
I want to get to verse 4.

It says, "Beloved, now
we are children of God."

And I like this part.

This is always encouraging
to me because, you know,

sometimes we don't feel
like we are children of God.

But it says, "And it
has not yet been revealed

what we shall be..."

In other words, we haven't seen
ourselves in the final product.

But you know who has?

has? Somebody tell me.

Jesus has.

He sees us, He knows
what He wants us to be.

And how does He know that?

The reason why He
knows what He wants us to be

after His similitude,

Now why is that important?

So they were in the
image, but they lost that image

when sin entered in.

Now He's
restoring His image in us.

But we have to know,
unlike Eve, just like Eve,

she knew
consciously that she was moving

in the wrong direction.

And see, the direction you
move in can mar the image of God

that He's trying

Let's look at the rest of it.

And here's where it
becomes very important.

"We shall be like Him, for
we shall see Him as He is."

4 pulls you back.

"Okay, He's doing the work

and we have nothing to do,"

"who has this hope in Him..."

illustration of foot-washing.

but the Adventist church

uses foot-washing.

Now why foot-washing?

Because we're already
clean by baptism in Christ.

But foot-washing is
a continual reminder.

And the reason why the feet were
the focal point of the washing,

Peter said, "My
head and hands also,"

but the reason why
the feet is because

the feet got dirty.

It's a symbol of how we
get dirty in our journey

and how the Lord
continually purifies us.

So as you are in the
journey, you have to remember

in this world of sin,

talk, but Peter talked a lot.

And Peter's mouth was in fifth
gear, his mind was in first.

Peter was called impetuous.

Meaning, he did things
without thinking about it.

but Peter could not
control his own life.
