lay some foundation.

about slavery for a moment.

Slavery.

Slavery is a
plight in any society.

You know, in America

there's a prior
history of slavery.

Even today in this
modern age there are slaves,

there are sweatshops slaves.
00:05:27.72\00:05:30.89
There are people that are
involved in children slavery,

then there are
those that are sex slaves,
00:05:37.47\00:05:40.94
people being transformed
00:05:40.97\00:05:43.27
or they're transport
from one country to another
00:05:43.30\00:05:46.21
and sold on the black market.

There are forms of slavery
still in existence today.

You know, when I read
the Book of Revelation,

every slave man
and every free man,
00:05:55.12\00:05:57.42
I thought, why
would the Lord say
00:05:57.45\00:05:59.15
that way down toward the end,
00:05:59.19\00:06:01.72
while there will be slaves
all the way to the very end.

And it's a terrible thing,

but what I
learned about it also is,

it's very closely
associated with sin.

When you think about slavery,
it has a life all of its own

because there is a master
and then there is a slave.

There is the person who
is the one calling the shots

and the other one who
has no choice but to follow

or to comply

with what is being
enforced or forced on them.

And when the
Bible talks about sin,

it talks about it
pretty much the same way.

Now, we're going
to get into that.

I want to get
into that too soon,

but I want to lay
that foundation tonight

because there's a
text in John 8 that says,

"He who the Son
sets free is, together,

free indeed."

Now the natural
deduction will be,

is Satan a larger or
stronger slave master

than Jesus is able to free us?

And the answer is no.

If that were in fact the case,

then there would be no salvation

because no one
would be able to be saved

bind everyone into slavery,

but Jesus can set us free

those so few of us

experience lasting freedom?

battle with so many things

that tend to enslave us?

that how to not only be set free

but to be made free.

How not only to proclaim
that we have been delivered,

but how to remain delivered,

because a prisoner that's

they're not looking

It just relaxes the body.

Some of us don't
know what it means

But John, the reason why

that leaned on Jesus' breast.

comfort in leaning on Jesus.

that we don't often grab.

when the pruning
process happens in our lives,

this out very carefully,

because sometimes
we are producing fruit,

but the Lord says,

So He allows first a
pruning process to happen to us.

He allows a trial to
come, a difficulty to come,

and we think that,

well, the Lord is allowing
us to go through hardship.

It's called pruning,

but how will that
pruning be necessary?

How will that
pruning be accomplished

unless there are
hurdles in our lives,

obstacles in our lives,

something to call out
our faith and our patience?

But the point that
we're trying to make here

is not only does it
produce righteousness,

but when we are pruned,
it produces even more fruit.

person becomes more effective

after they go through difficulty

those who believe
