00:00:58.69\00:01:00.02 You know, the Bible talks about anger 00:01:00.06\00:01:01.39 or being angry over 150 times, 00:01:01.42\00:01:05.03 and so therefore, it's a very important topic. 00:01:05.06\00:01:07.30 What happens when Christians get angry? 00:02:30.88\00:02:34.05 We sing our theme song. 00:02:34.08\00:02:35.42 Let's sing our theme song tonight, Victory in Jesus. 00:02:35.45\00:02:37.95 I heard an old, old story 00:02:46.66\00:02:50.40 How the Savior came from glory 00:02:50.43\00:02:54.20 How He gave His life on Calvary 00:02:54.24\00:02:57.94 To save a wretch like me 00:02:57.97\00:03:01.78 I heard about His groaning 00:03:01.81\00:03:05.55 Of His precious blood's atoning 00:03:05.58\00:03:09.28 Then I repented of my sins 00:03:09.32\00:03:13.15 And won the victory 00:03:13.19\00:03:16.89 O victory in Jesus 00:03:16.93\00:03:20.70 My Savior, forever 00:03:20.73\00:03:24.60 He sought me and bought me 00:03:24.63\00:03:28.17 With His redeeming blood 00:03:28.20\00:03:31.97 He loved me ere I knew Him 00:03:32.01\00:03:35.81 And all my love is due Him 00:03:35.84\00:03:39.61 He plunged me to victory 00:03:39.65\00:03:43.32 Beneath the cleansing flood 00:03:43.35\00:03:47.16 I heard about a mansion 00:03:47.19\00:03:50.96 He has built for me in glory 00:03:50.99\00:03:54.63 And I heard about the streets of gold 00:03:54.66\00:03:58.50 Beyond the crystal sea 00:03:58.53\00:04:02.20 About the angels singing 00:04:02.24\00:04:06.04 And the old redemption story 00:04:06.07\00:04:09.78 And some sweet day 00:04:09.81\00:04:11.78 I'll sing up there 00:04:11.81\00:04:13.62 The song of victory 00:04:13.65\00:04:16.15 Key change. 00:04:16.18\00:04:17.52 O victory in Jesus 00:04:17.55\00:04:21.19 My Savior, forever 00:04:21.22\00:04:24.93 He sought me and bought me 00:04:24.96\00:04:28.56 With His redeeming blood 00:04:28.60\00:04:32.47 He loved me ere I knew Him 00:04:32.50\00:04:36.30 And all my love is due Him 00:04:36.34\00:04:40.01 He plunged me to victory 00:04:40.04\00:04:43.81 Beneath the cleansing flood 00:04:43.85\00:04:47.55 He plunged me to victory 00:04:47.58\00:04:51.39 Beneath the cleansing flood 00:04:51.42\00:04:57.76 Amen. 00:04:57.79\00:05:00.00 Tonight, our topic is, let's say that together, 00:05:00.03\00:05:02.06 The Truth about Jesus. 00:05:02.10\00:05:03.80 The Truth about Jesus. 00:05:03.83\00:05:05.17 We've been walking through some of the major prophecies 00:05:05.20\00:05:09.50 about the life, the ministry, the death, the resurrection, 00:05:09.54\00:05:15.38 and the work that Jesus is doing 00:05:15.41\00:05:16.85 in the heavenly sanctuary. 00:05:16.88\00:05:19.01 In the past, we did a topic on the sanctuary altogether 00:05:19.05\00:05:21.82 and His ministration there. 00:05:21.85\00:05:23.32 But we've been looking at these prophesies 00:05:23.35\00:05:26.05 for one major reason, to confirm His divinity. 00:05:26.09\00:05:30.59 Who is Christ? 00:05:30.63\00:05:31.96 Is He in fact the Christ? 00:05:31.99\00:05:33.33 You know, there are millions of people today among, 00:05:33.36\00:05:37.47 I would say, in the Jewish community 00:05:37.50\00:05:38.93 that have denied the very Messiahship of Christ. 00:05:38.97\00:05:42.97 And they say they're waiting for the Messiah. 00:05:43.00\00:05:46.61 There are those that have said Jesus has come 00:05:46.64\00:05:49.21 but because of their misunderstanding 00:05:49.24\00:05:50.68 of His ministry, 00:05:50.71\00:05:52.05 they're waiting for the sacrificial system 00:05:52.08\00:05:53.42 to begin all over again. 00:05:53.45\00:05:55.42 And there are many that believe that just before Jesus comes, 00:05:55.45\00:05:58.09 they have to go to Jerusalem. 00:05:58.12\00:05:59.79 Or in some case, 00:05:59.82\00:06:02.62 among those who are privy to the message of ISIS, 00:06:02.66\00:06:07.06 they believe they need to go to Syria, 00:06:07.10\00:06:09.60 that's why Syria is such a focal point 00:06:09.63\00:06:11.57 waiting for the Messiah to come. 00:06:11.60\00:06:13.64 But the truth about Jesus is important to understand 00:06:13.67\00:06:16.04 because when we understand what was prophesized 00:06:16.07\00:06:18.67 in the Old Testament 00:06:18.71\00:06:20.04 and we see what was fulfilled in the New Testament, 00:06:20.08\00:06:22.84 then we can know that the past and the present makes sense. 00:06:22.88\00:06:26.28 Amen? 00:06:26.31\00:06:27.68 So let's begin tonight, we'll dive right into our topic 00:06:27.72\00:06:30.45 on question number 25. 00:06:30.49\00:06:33.25 Question number 25. 00:06:33.29\00:06:35.46 And this is concerning the betrayal of Jesus. 00:06:35.49\00:06:39.79 Let's look at that together. 00:06:39.83\00:06:43.30 "Concerning the betrayal of Jesus, what was prophesied?" 00:06:43.33\00:06:48.54 Let's go to Psalm 91. 00:06:48.57\00:06:50.81 I'm using my new Bible, the Remnant Study Bible. 00:06:50.84\00:06:54.31 Psalm 41, sorry about that. 00:06:54.34\00:06:57.15 Psalm 41. 00:06:57.18\00:06:58.51 I looked right at it and said Psalm 91. 00:06:58.55\00:07:01.18 I was so in a hurry to say I'm using my new Remnant Bible. 00:07:01.22\00:07:06.76 I had a New King James Version 00:07:06.79\00:07:08.22 but it was an old New King James Version, 00:07:08.26\00:07:10.76 and some of the words were changed in that 00:07:10.79\00:07:12.49 to bring it up to date. 00:07:12.53\00:07:13.86 So now I'm up to date. 00:07:13.90\00:07:16.06 Psalm 41. 00:07:16.10\00:07:18.27 You know, very few books in the Bible, 00:07:18.30\00:07:20.47 like the Book of Psalms, 00:07:20.50\00:07:23.00 really talk about the life of Jesus. 00:07:23.04\00:07:25.57 You find Psalm 41, 42, 43, 44 bring out amazing prophecies 00:07:25.61\00:07:30.81 concerning the life of Jesus. 00:07:30.85\00:07:33.21 Now this one, Psalm 41:9, 00:07:33.25\00:07:36.35 talks about the betrayal of Jesus. 00:07:36.38\00:07:39.25 Now long before this betrayal was actually occurred, 00:07:39.29\00:07:42.46 the Bible talked about 00:07:42.49\00:07:43.83 how that betrayal will take place. 00:07:43.86\00:07:45.33 Here it is, 00:07:45.36\00:07:46.70 let's read the first one together 00:07:46.73\00:07:48.06 from the screen. 00:07:48.10\00:07:49.43 Are you ready? 00:07:49.46\00:07:50.80 Let's look at the screen together. 00:07:50.83\00:07:52.17 The Bible says, "Even my own..." 00:07:52.20\00:07:54.90 Come on, let's put some strength. 00:07:54.94\00:07:56.27 "Even my own familiar friend in whom I trusted, 00:07:56.30\00:08:01.18 who ate my bread, has lifted up his heel against me." 00:08:01.21\00:08:05.61 Now we're reading that, that's not the fulfillment, 00:08:05.65\00:08:08.32 that's the prophecy. 00:08:08.35\00:08:09.92 So David, the Psalmist, long before Jesus arrived, 00:08:09.95\00:08:14.92 hundreds of years before Jesus arrived, 00:08:14.96\00:08:18.06 it was prophesied 00:08:18.09\00:08:19.43 exactly how Jesus would be betrayed. 00:08:19.46\00:08:22.26 Now let's go to Luke 22. 00:08:22.30\00:08:24.93 Luke 22. 00:08:24.97\00:08:27.64 And we're going to look at verse 47 and verse 48. 00:08:27.67\00:08:31.61 You find a lot, the word fulfilled. 00:08:31.64\00:08:34.34 Matter of fact, 00:08:34.38\00:08:36.41 if you put the word fulfilled in the Bible, 00:08:36.44\00:08:38.65 you find 112 references to the word fulfilled. 00:08:38.68\00:08:41.58 And when you scroll down 00:08:41.62\00:08:42.95 and you go to the New Testament, 00:08:42.98\00:08:44.59 many of those words that were fulfilled 00:08:44.62\00:08:47.02 were fulfilled in the life of Christ. 00:08:47.06\00:08:50.49 So we're going now to... 00:08:50.53\00:08:52.63 What book did I say? 00:08:52.66\00:08:54.00 Luke 22:47-48. 00:08:54.03\00:08:59.37 Wow, this Bible is brand new. 00:08:59.40\00:09:02.20 I've got to mark it up like my old one, 00:09:02.24\00:09:05.41 got to transfer my notes. 00:09:05.44\00:09:07.81 That's going to be a fun thing to do. 00:09:07.84\00:09:09.31 Here it is. 00:09:09.34\00:09:11.28 And the pages are so close together, 00:09:11.31\00:09:14.62 which is not a bad thing. 00:09:14.65\00:09:16.18 Okay, here we are, 00:09:16.22\00:09:17.55 Luke 22:47-48. 00:09:17.59\00:09:23.96 All right, here it is. 00:09:23.99\00:09:25.33 And this is in fact entitled 00:09:25.36\00:09:26.86 The Betrayal and Arrest in Gethsemane. 00:09:26.90\00:09:30.10 Okay, let's look at verse 47. 00:09:30.13\00:09:32.10 It says, 00:09:32.13\00:09:33.47 "And while He was still speaking... 00:09:33.50\00:09:37.41 a multitude, 00:09:37.44\00:09:40.18 behold, a multitude, and he who was called Judas, 00:09:40.21\00:09:45.68 one of the twelve, went before them 00:09:45.71\00:09:48.92 and drew near to Jesus..." 00:09:48.95\00:09:50.32 And did what? 00:09:50.35\00:09:51.69 "To kiss Him." 00:09:51.72\00:09:53.05 And then the Bible says in verse 48. 00:09:53.09\00:09:54.89 But Jesus said to him, 00:09:54.92\00:09:56.26 "Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a..." 00:09:56.29\00:10:01.50 What? 00:10:01.53\00:10:02.86 "With a kiss." 00:10:02.90\00:10:04.23 Now what was the purpose of this meeting? 00:10:04.27\00:10:08.17 Instead of Judas saying, 00:10:08.20\00:10:10.01 "You're the One or He's the One", 00:10:10.04\00:10:12.44 he wanted to make it look like 00:10:12.47\00:10:14.28 he was meeting his master with affection 00:10:14.31\00:10:16.34 because the Bible says they greeted each other. 00:10:16.38\00:10:18.55 In the Middle East, it's not unusual 00:10:18.58\00:10:19.91 for men to kiss men. 00:10:19.95\00:10:21.88 And in some cases, you know, the Bible says, 00:10:21.92\00:10:24.72 "Greet your brethren with a holy kiss." 00:10:24.75\00:10:26.72 But they kissed on the lips in that generation. 00:10:26.76\00:10:30.26 And we wouldn't think about doing that in America. 00:10:30.29\00:10:32.13 Amen? 00:10:32.16\00:10:33.50 You guys are pretty quiet. 00:10:36.33\00:10:39.37 I wouldn't kiss another man on the lips, amen, Yanick? 00:10:39.40\00:10:42.27 Amen. 00:10:42.30\00:10:44.67 In South Africa, in unusual places, 00:10:44.71\00:10:48.24 they do that, it's cultural. 00:10:48.28\00:10:50.61 So when the Bible says, 00:10:50.65\00:10:51.98 "Greet the brethren with a holy kiss," 00:10:52.01\00:10:53.38 that's exactly what they meant. 00:10:53.42\00:10:55.68 But I would just like to make it a record, 00:10:55.72\00:10:59.89 not me. 00:10:59.92\00:11:01.99 But Judas met Jesus and he drew near to kiss Him. 00:11:02.02\00:11:06.03 And then in that kiss, he marked Him. 00:11:06.06\00:11:10.23 He marked Him as the one that he was going to betray. 00:11:10.27\00:11:14.64 Now as you write the answers down, 00:11:14.67\00:11:17.34 let's go to Psalm... 00:11:17.37\00:11:20.54 We went to Psalm 41 and Luke 22, 00:11:20.58\00:11:22.81 so concerning the betrayal of Jesus, what was prophesied? 00:11:22.84\00:11:25.61 What two things can you put in the Psalms 41? 00:11:25.65\00:11:28.52 What can you put there? 00:11:28.55\00:11:32.29 A familiar friend. A familiar friend, exactly. 00:11:32.32\00:11:36.02 Not only a familiar friend, but what was Judas? 00:11:36.06\00:11:39.96 He was a disciple, he was the treasurer. 00:11:40.00\00:11:44.27 He was the treasurer. 00:11:44.30\00:11:46.13 And one of the reasons why Luke 22 happened, 00:11:46.17\00:11:50.31 Judas had witnessed Jesus on many occasions get away 00:11:50.34\00:11:53.94 when the mob came to arrest Him, 00:11:53.98\00:11:55.71 when they tried to corner Him, 00:11:55.74\00:11:57.58 when they tried to arrest Him in His early ministry. 00:11:57.61\00:12:01.08 There are instances in the Bible where it says, 00:12:01.12\00:12:03.32 "They sought to grab Him, 00:12:03.35\00:12:05.15 and Jesus just disappeared from their midst." 00:12:05.19\00:12:07.76 The Father, the Holy Spirit took Him away. 00:12:07.79\00:12:10.43 And there were other times that he sought to... 00:12:10.46\00:12:12.63 They sought to betray Him, but He said to them, 00:12:12.66\00:12:14.46 "My hour has not yet come." 00:12:14.50\00:12:16.90 So there was a determination 00:12:16.93\00:12:18.27 as to when these things were going to occur. 00:12:18.30\00:12:20.74 But here, you see clearly in Luke 22:47-48, 00:12:20.77\00:12:25.11 what would you put there? 00:12:25.14\00:12:26.78 He betrayed Him with a what? 00:12:26.81\00:12:29.08 He betrayed Him with a kiss. 00:12:29.11\00:12:31.01 Wow. Wow. 00:12:31.05\00:12:35.65 Hidden messages in that. 00:12:35.68\00:12:37.95 Okay, now let's look at another aspect. 00:12:37.99\00:12:41.59 You know, what amazes me when I looked at these, 00:12:41.62\00:12:43.19 and there are easily a number of amazing prophecies 00:12:43.22\00:12:48.80 as I look as a matter of fact. 00:12:48.83\00:12:50.97 As I look in Matthew 2, 00:12:51.00\00:12:55.70 you find all through Matthew, 00:12:55.74\00:12:59.71 you find, wow, so many times you find the word fulfill. 00:12:59.74\00:13:03.85 Let's look at one very quickly. 00:13:03.88\00:13:05.71 Go to Matthew 13. I want you to see this. 00:13:05.75\00:13:08.08 Matthew 13, just to show you that 00:13:08.12\00:13:11.42 this word fulfill was very much 00:13:11.45\00:13:13.99 a part of the New Testament. 00:13:14.02\00:13:17.53 What was talked about in the old 00:13:17.56\00:13:19.46 was fulfilled in the new. 00:13:19.49\00:13:22.60 Matthew 13, and let's start with... 00:13:22.63\00:13:26.53 I'll read from verse... 00:13:26.57\00:13:29.77 Let me go down to verse 14, so I'll start with verse 10. 00:13:29.80\00:13:34.08 Matthew 13:10. 00:13:34.11\00:13:37.28 It says, "And the disciples came 00:13:37.31\00:13:38.81 and said to Him, 00:13:38.85\00:13:40.88 'Why do You speak to them in..." 00:13:40.92\00:13:42.98 What? 00:13:43.02\00:13:44.35 "In parables?' 00:13:44.39\00:13:45.72 And He answered and said to them, 00:13:45.75\00:13:47.09 'Because it has been given to you 00:13:47.12\00:13:50.53 to know the mysteries, 00:13:50.56\00:13:51.96 or the secrets of the hidden truths 00:13:51.99\00:13:54.83 of the kingdom of heaven, 00:13:54.86\00:13:56.36 but to them, it has not been given.'" 00:13:56.40\00:13:58.80 Now why do you think that was wonderful? 00:13:58.83\00:14:01.47 Because... 00:14:01.50\00:14:02.84 Keep this in mind, 00:14:02.87\00:14:04.21 if the betrayers of Jesus 00:14:04.24\00:14:05.57 had known what He was going to do, 00:14:05.61\00:14:06.94 they would have been able to make plans. 00:14:06.98\00:14:08.98 So Jesus hid His mission in parables. 00:14:09.01\00:14:12.51 Parables and prophecies are similar in that sense. 00:14:12.55\00:14:16.35 Prophecies are symbolic, parables are hidden messages. 00:14:16.38\00:14:20.59 And a lot of times, the symbols and the parables are explained 00:14:20.62\00:14:24.13 like the Rich Man and Lazarus, 00:14:24.16\00:14:25.76 like the parable of the Wheat and the Tares, 00:14:25.79\00:14:27.86 the parable of the Sower. 00:14:27.90\00:14:29.70 They are all explained. 00:14:29.73\00:14:31.30 And look at verse 12. 00:14:31.33\00:14:32.93 It says, "For whosoever have, to him, more will be given, 00:14:32.97\00:14:37.84 and he will have abundance. 00:14:37.87\00:14:39.74 But whoever does not have, 00:14:39.77\00:14:41.48 even what he has will be taken away from him." 00:14:41.51\00:14:44.25 Now you might read that and think, 00:14:44.28\00:14:48.55 "Is Jesus talking about taking away 00:14:48.58\00:14:49.92 material possessions?" 00:14:49.95\00:14:51.29 Absolutely not. 00:14:51.32\00:14:52.65 He was talking about the knowledge 00:14:52.69\00:14:54.06 that the people of His day had. 00:14:54.09\00:14:55.72 And let me give you an example. 00:14:55.76\00:14:57.09 The Jews had a lot of knowledge. 00:14:57.13\00:14:58.59 They had knowledge of Jesus for over 1,000 years, 00:14:58.63\00:15:01.20 almost 2,000 years, they had knowledge. 00:15:01.23\00:15:03.37 But because they rejected the Messiah, this is powerful, 00:15:03.40\00:15:06.70 because they rejected the Messiah, 00:15:06.74\00:15:09.44 there would be no further revelation to them. 00:15:09.47\00:15:11.94 So what they had will start disappearing. 00:15:11.97\00:15:15.58 The understanding they had met a wall 00:15:15.61\00:15:17.85 when they rejected Jesus. 00:15:17.88\00:15:19.71 But for those who did not reject Jesus, 00:15:19.75\00:15:21.68 like the disciples accepted Him, 00:15:21.72\00:15:23.59 now all of a sudden, 00:15:23.62\00:15:24.95 what they had started increasing. 00:15:24.99\00:15:27.19 So to him who had much, 00:15:27.22\00:15:29.12 more will be given because they accepted Him, 00:15:29.16\00:15:31.99 He was the open door. 00:15:32.03\00:15:33.43 The Jews shut the door on themselves. 00:15:33.46\00:15:35.26 He said, "I came to my own, and My own did not..." 00:15:35.30\00:15:37.80 What? 00:15:37.83\00:15:39.30 Did not what? "Didn't receive Me." 00:15:39.33\00:15:40.90 So the knowledge they had, He shut it off. 00:15:40.94\00:15:43.71 So they had a lot, and all of a sudden, 00:15:43.74\00:15:45.17 their knowledge just began to dissipate. 00:15:45.21\00:15:47.21 And they thought, "Wait a minute." 00:15:47.24\00:15:48.58 So when they rejected the Messiah, 00:15:48.61\00:15:50.08 everything that He would have revealed to them, 00:15:50.11\00:15:52.25 started being revealed to the disciples. 00:15:52.28\00:15:54.52 That's what it talked about. 00:15:54.55\00:15:55.88 So look at that again. 00:15:55.92\00:15:58.65 "For whoever has, to him, more will be given, 00:15:58.69\00:16:02.72 and he will have abundance. 00:16:02.76\00:16:04.76 But whoever does not have, 00:16:04.79\00:16:06.76 even what he has will be taken away from him." 00:16:06.80\00:16:09.73 And look at verse 13, it says, 00:16:09.76\00:16:11.83 "Therefore, I speak to them in..." 00:16:11.87\00:16:13.77 What? 00:16:13.80\00:16:15.14 "Parables because seeing they do not see, 00:16:15.17\00:16:21.48 and hearing they do not..." 00:16:21.51\00:16:22.84 What? 00:16:22.88\00:16:24.21 "Hear, nor do they understand." 00:16:24.25\00:16:26.92 And this is the part that's significant 00:16:26.95\00:16:28.82 about the word fulfilled. 00:16:28.85\00:16:30.99 In verse 14, "And in them, 00:16:31.02\00:16:33.22 the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says..." 00:16:33.25\00:16:38.03 Speaking of His own people. 00:16:38.06\00:16:39.73 "Hearing, you will hear and shall not understand, 00:16:39.76\00:16:43.30 and seeing, you will see and not perceive." 00:16:43.33\00:16:47.27 Why? 00:16:47.30\00:16:48.64 "For the hearts of His people have grown..." 00:16:48.67\00:16:50.34 What? "Dull." 00:16:50.37\00:16:51.71 He's talking about His own people. 00:16:51.74\00:16:53.58 "Their ears are hard of hearing." 00:16:53.61\00:16:56.64 And look at this. 00:16:56.68\00:16:58.01 "And their eyes, they have closed." 00:16:58.05\00:17:01.38 He didn't close their eyes. 00:17:01.42\00:17:02.98 The Messiah was standing right there, 00:17:03.02\00:17:05.05 and they refused to accept Him. 00:17:05.09\00:17:06.65 He said to them, "You spend a lot of time 00:17:06.69\00:17:08.52 searching the Bible," 00:17:08.56\00:17:09.89 but the Bible points to me, John 5:39. 00:17:09.92\00:17:12.96 Finishing the text, it says, 00:17:12.99\00:17:14.56 "Lest they should see with their eyes, 00:17:14.60\00:17:16.93 and hear with their ears, 00:17:16.97\00:17:19.03 lest they should understand with their heart 00:17:19.07\00:17:23.10 and turn so that I should heal them." 00:17:23.14\00:17:27.44 So you find over and over, 00:17:27.48\00:17:28.81 there are so many other instances 00:17:28.84\00:17:30.18 in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John 00:17:30.21\00:17:31.55 that the word fulfilled is used 00:17:31.58\00:17:33.01 because the Bible talks about... 00:17:33.05\00:17:34.42 These things were mentioned in the Old Testament. 00:17:34.45\00:17:36.75 You know what amazes me as we read that passage, 00:17:36.79\00:17:39.92 Isaiah the prophet, prophesied 00:17:39.95\00:17:42.89 that the people of Jesus would reject Him when He came. 00:17:42.92\00:17:45.86 That's amazing to me. 00:17:49.13\00:17:51.07 Now if you have on... 00:17:51.10\00:17:52.43 Let's put on our theology hats. 00:17:52.47\00:17:53.80 You ready? 00:17:53.84\00:17:55.17 Get your hats on. 00:17:55.20\00:17:56.54 Get your hat on, Norick, put your theology hat on, 00:17:56.57\00:17:57.97 Caperna. 00:17:58.01\00:18:00.24 There was a particular prophecy 00:18:00.28\00:18:01.71 in the Bible called the 70 weeks. 00:18:01.74\00:18:04.58 How many years was that? 00:18:04.61\00:18:07.45 Four hundred and ninety years. 00:18:07.48\00:18:09.55 Now the reason why 00:18:09.58\00:18:11.69 Jesus was still speaking to the large, 00:18:11.72\00:18:15.29 to the multitudes at large 00:18:15.32\00:18:16.93 is because He was still giving them time 00:18:16.96\00:18:18.99 to reverse their blindness. 00:18:19.03\00:18:21.10 He spoke to the Jews in John 8, and He said to them, 00:18:21.13\00:18:26.00 "Are you a slave?" 00:18:26.03\00:18:27.37 He said, "We've never been a slave." 00:18:27.40\00:18:29.47 He said, "If you're a sinner, you are a slave." 00:18:29.50\00:18:32.87 Then He said... 00:18:32.91\00:18:34.24 They talked about the bread that Moses gave them 00:18:34.28\00:18:37.41 in the wilderness. 00:18:37.45\00:18:38.81 And here is Jesus, He said, 00:18:38.85\00:18:40.25 "I am the bread that came down from heaven." 00:18:40.28\00:18:42.45 They're looking right at them, 00:18:42.48\00:18:43.82 "Seeing, they will see and not perceive, 00:18:43.85\00:18:47.29 hearing, they will hear 00:18:47.32\00:18:48.79 and they won't even understand." 00:18:48.82\00:18:50.26 So He gave them a message over, and over, and over again. 00:18:50.29\00:18:52.89 And even after He finished His ministry 00:18:52.93\00:18:54.46 and went to heaven, He said to the disciples, 00:18:54.50\00:18:57.00 "Go first to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." 00:18:57.03\00:19:01.50 Go to them, get... 00:19:01.54\00:19:02.87 They have a little bit more time left. 00:19:02.90\00:19:04.64 They got three and a half years left out of 490. 00:19:04.67\00:19:08.98 They've got this much time left. 00:19:09.01\00:19:10.45 "Go to them first." 00:19:10.48\00:19:11.81 He didn't want to reject them. 00:19:11.85\00:19:14.52 They rejected Him. 00:19:14.55\00:19:16.79 And what happened as a result of the rejection, 00:19:16.82\00:19:18.75 the gospel went on to the gentiles. 00:19:18.79\00:19:20.96 And who are we? 00:19:20.99\00:19:22.86 The gentiles. 00:19:22.89\00:19:24.23 I said this on a program once and somebody wrote me a letter 00:19:24.26\00:19:26.90 and said, "You are not Israel." 00:19:26.93\00:19:29.23 I am not Israel. 00:19:29.26\00:19:30.67 We are spiritual Israel. 00:19:30.70\00:19:32.47 Say that together, we are what? 00:19:32.50\00:19:33.84 Spiritual Israel. 00:19:33.87\00:19:35.57 Because one of the dangers they had was they thought 00:19:35.60\00:19:37.81 because they were born in as a Jew 00:19:37.84\00:19:41.34 that they were automatically saved. 00:19:41.38\00:19:42.74 They kept boasting, 00:19:42.78\00:19:44.11 that's why the parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus 00:19:44.15\00:19:46.15 was given to these rich men. 00:19:46.18\00:19:48.25 Why were they rich? 00:19:48.28\00:19:49.62 They had rich food, that is the Word of God, 00:19:49.65\00:19:52.15 they had the understanding, but they rejected that. 00:19:52.19\00:19:54.82 They boasted of their diet, their feast days, 00:19:54.86\00:19:58.19 all the Sabbath stuff they kept, 00:19:58.23\00:19:59.89 all the knowledge they had that God had given them 00:19:59.93\00:20:01.96 throughout the centuries, but they wouldn't share it, 00:20:02.00\00:20:05.80 and the door closed on them. 00:20:05.83\00:20:07.47 Seeing they didn't see, 00:20:07.50\00:20:09.50 hearing they did not understand. 00:20:09.54\00:20:11.71 Wow. 00:20:11.74\00:20:13.17 Let's look at question number 26. 00:20:13.21\00:20:16.91 Wow. 00:20:16.95\00:20:18.65 Question number 26. 00:20:18.68\00:20:22.32 Here it is. 00:20:22.35\00:20:24.19 "The Bible predicted the price of the betrayal of Jesus? 00:20:24.22\00:20:28.52 The Bible predicted the price of the betrayal of Jesus?" 00:20:28.56\00:20:33.03 All right, let's look at that together. 00:20:33.06\00:20:35.43 Matthew, matter of fact, let's go to Zachariah first. 00:20:35.46\00:20:39.33 Let's go to Zachariah first. 00:20:39.37\00:20:41.14 I don't believe I gave this slide to the guys 00:20:41.17\00:20:43.24 that are at the graphics, but let's go to Zachariah. 00:20:43.27\00:20:46.64 Zachariah 11, okay? 00:20:46.68\00:20:50.85 Let our Bibles speak for us. 00:20:50.88\00:20:52.21 Here we are. 00:20:52.25\00:20:53.58 Okay. Okay. 00:20:53.62\00:20:57.29 Zachariah 11:12. 00:20:57.32\00:21:01.32 Wow. Okay. 00:21:06.06\00:21:07.73 And it reads thus far, "Then I said to them, 00:21:12.00\00:21:17.64 'If it is agreeable to you, 00:21:17.67\00:21:20.71 give me my wages, and if not, refrain.' 00:21:20.74\00:21:25.91 So they weighed out for my wages..." 00:21:25.95\00:21:28.18 Let's say those together. 00:21:28.22\00:21:29.65 "Thirty pieces of silver." 00:21:29.68\00:21:33.42 Thirty pieces of silver, they weighed it out. 00:21:33.46\00:21:38.49 Wow. So let's write that down. 00:21:38.53\00:21:40.43 What did Zachariah referred to these wages as? 00:21:44.70\00:21:47.77 I gave you the answer. 00:21:50.97\00:21:54.11 My question should have been, 00:21:54.14\00:21:55.48 "What did Zachariah call these thirty pieces of silver?" 00:21:55.51\00:21:58.18 He called them what? 00:21:58.21\00:21:59.55 Wages. Wages. 00:21:59.58\00:22:01.68 Let's say it together, wages. 00:22:01.72\00:22:04.59 The wages of sin is what? 00:22:04.62\00:22:06.19 Death. Wow. 00:22:06.22\00:22:07.96 So let's put that down. 00:22:07.99\00:22:09.32 Zechariah 11:12, "Wages", wages. 00:22:09.36\00:22:13.63 Now let's go to Matthew 26 to see the fulfillment. 00:22:13.66\00:22:20.34 Zachariah was long dead and gone 00:22:20.37\00:22:23.61 by the time this was fulfilled. 00:22:23.64\00:22:26.61 Okay. Okay. 00:22:26.64\00:22:29.48 Matthew 26. 00:22:29.51\00:22:32.48 Wow, this Bible has a really nice feel to it. 00:22:32.51\00:22:35.48 I'm going to make this my new Bible. 00:22:35.52\00:22:38.09 Well, it is my new Bible. 00:22:38.12\00:22:40.16 I got so many Bibles. 00:22:40.19\00:22:43.66 Okay, Matthew 26, 00:22:43.69\00:22:45.96 we're going to look at verses 14 and 15. 00:22:45.99\00:22:50.03 I got to come up with a new marking plan 00:22:50.07\00:22:52.87 so that my colors can mean something. 00:22:52.90\00:22:55.44 Have you ever taken your pen and just underlined stuff in 00:22:55.47\00:22:57.44 any color, didn't really matter? 00:22:57.47\00:22:59.27 I got to put a good one together 00:22:59.31\00:23:00.64 for my new Bible. 00:23:00.68\00:23:02.01 Here it is. Matthew 26:14-15. 00:23:02.04\00:23:05.65 Here it is. 00:23:05.68\00:23:07.32 "Then one of the twelve called Judas Iscariot, 00:23:07.35\00:23:12.39 went to the chief priests and said, 00:23:12.42\00:23:16.26 'What are you willing to give me 00:23:16.29\00:23:18.39 if I deliver Him to you?'" 00:23:18.43\00:23:20.33 Very quickly, how did he deliver Him to him? 00:23:20.36\00:23:23.83 With a kiss. 00:23:23.87\00:23:25.30 "And they counted out to him..." 00:23:25.33\00:23:26.90 What? 00:23:26.94\00:23:28.27 Together, "Thirty pieces of silver." 00:23:28.30\00:23:32.81 That's the fulfillment, and that's the prophecy. 00:23:32.84\00:23:35.21 So put that together... 00:23:35.24\00:23:37.38 Put that together, and you'll clearly see 00:23:37.41\00:23:40.15 what Zachariah prophesied. 00:23:40.18\00:23:42.58 Now you've got to really... 00:23:42.62\00:23:45.02 For that to happen, for the exact amount to happen, 00:23:45.05\00:23:48.36 somebody might say $29.95, $35, $40, the generalization, 00:23:48.39\00:23:53.63 but see how accurate prophecy is. 00:23:53.66\00:23:55.60 Zachariah was inspired by the Holy Spirit 00:23:55.63\00:23:58.17 who told them what would happen at the time. 00:23:58.20\00:24:00.40 And when you think about it, 00:24:00.44\00:24:01.94 one of the disciples betrayed His own Lord. 00:24:01.97\00:24:05.04 So it's possible that those who followed the Lord 00:24:05.07\00:24:08.58 are not necessarily walking with the Lord. 00:24:08.61\00:24:12.01 That's exactly what the case was when it came to Judas. 00:24:12.05\00:24:15.02 Judas was there for financial reasons. 00:24:15.05\00:24:17.75 And he betrayed the Lord. 00:24:17.79\00:24:20.39 I don't know if I had said this, 00:24:20.42\00:24:21.76 but Judas had seen the Lord 00:24:21.79\00:24:24.33 free Himself from so many prior examples, 00:24:24.36\00:24:26.59 of prior attempts to arrest Him that he thought, 00:24:26.63\00:24:31.03 "This is a great opportunity to make some money." 00:24:31.07\00:24:33.47 He's going to get away anyway, and if He gets away, 00:24:33.50\00:24:35.47 I'll have 30 pieces of silver. 00:24:35.50\00:24:38.04 And what happened is this time, He did not get away. 00:24:38.07\00:24:43.55 This time it ended up being his betrayal. 00:24:43.58\00:24:46.25 And you know what happened afterward? 00:24:46.28\00:24:47.95 What did Judas do with that money? 00:24:47.98\00:24:49.38 Do you remember? 00:24:49.42\00:24:53.02 He threw it away, he dumped it. 00:24:53.05\00:24:55.79 In an attempt to say, 00:24:55.82\00:24:58.49 "It wasn't supposed to go this way. 00:24:58.53\00:25:00.63 I was supposed to get my money, 00:25:00.66\00:25:02.00 but He was supposed to get away." 00:25:02.03\00:25:04.10 See, so here's the point, you can play with the Lord 00:25:04.13\00:25:06.80 so often until one day it's irreversible. 00:25:06.84\00:25:10.91 Wow, wow, that's scary. 00:25:10.94\00:25:14.14 The wages that he... 00:25:14.18\00:25:16.88 He was going after money, 00:25:16.91\00:25:20.12 and he betrayed the Lord for 30 pieces of silver. 00:25:20.15\00:25:24.19 You know, even if it was gold, 00:25:24.22\00:25:26.19 there was no price that we should even try 00:25:26.22\00:25:28.99 to sell the Lord for. 00:25:29.02\00:25:32.03 Yeah, you can't... 00:25:32.06\00:25:33.46 Because the wages of sin is what? 00:25:33.50\00:25:34.83 Death. 00:25:34.86\00:25:36.20 And what did Judas eventually do? 00:25:36.23\00:25:38.30 He hung himself. 00:25:38.33\00:25:40.20 The shame of betraying his Lord, boy, I tell you, 00:25:40.24\00:25:46.37 Bible says, "Woe to the man by whom the Lord has betrayed, 00:25:46.41\00:25:50.65 it was better that he had not been born." 00:25:50.68\00:25:53.55 Wow, and Judas knew that. 00:25:53.58\00:25:56.35 He knew that, but he didn't think 00:25:56.38\00:25:57.72 he would be the one. 00:25:57.75\00:25:59.09 But, you know, there was a point 00:25:59.12\00:26:00.76 at which he could have repented it not going forth 00:26:00.79\00:26:03.53 when they were having the last supper. 00:26:03.56\00:26:07.03 And he said, "The one who dips his hand with Me, 00:26:07.06\00:26:09.90 he's the one who's going to betray Me." 00:26:09.93\00:26:12.53 And the question started to come in, "Is it I? 00:26:12.57\00:26:14.40 Is it I?" 00:26:14.44\00:26:15.77 They start looking around the room, and Judas was like, 00:26:15.80\00:26:19.17 "I'm not going to ask that question." 00:26:19.21\00:26:21.14 Because he knew it was him. 00:26:21.18\00:26:22.91 And then He set His eyes on him, He said, 00:26:22.94\00:26:25.25 "What thou doest..." 00:26:25.28\00:26:26.68 What? "Do quickly." 00:26:26.72\00:26:28.48 And Judas got up and left. 00:26:28.52\00:26:30.05 That was that pivotal moment where Judas could have said, 00:26:30.09\00:26:33.19 "I'm not going to do it." 00:26:33.22\00:26:35.82 Wow. 00:26:35.86\00:26:37.43 The point of no return. 00:26:37.46\00:26:39.59 Wow! That's amazing. 00:26:39.63\00:26:40.96 That is amazing. 00:26:41.00\00:26:42.33 Let's go to 27. So write these down. 00:26:42.36\00:26:45.40 Zachariah, the wages, and then Matthew 26:14-15, 00:26:45.43\00:26:49.84 thirty pieces of silver, 00:26:49.87\00:26:52.07 betrayed for the price 00:26:52.11\00:26:57.05 and a life. 00:26:57.08\00:26:59.38 And now number 27, number 27. 00:26:59.41\00:27:03.79 Okay, "How does the Bible 00:27:03.82\00:27:06.92 confirm the Lamb-like nature of Jesus?" 00:27:06.96\00:27:11.89 How does the Bible confirm the Lamb-like nature of Jesus? 00:27:11.93\00:27:17.13 And I say Lamb-like, He's the lamb, right? 00:27:17.17\00:27:21.10 But being called the Lamb as the Bible prefigured Him 00:27:21.14\00:27:26.01 in the sacrifices of the temple services... 00:27:26.04\00:27:31.31 To be called a lamb and not have a lamb-like nature 00:27:31.35\00:27:36.28 wouldn't really identify you as a lamb. 00:27:36.32\00:27:38.42 So to be called a Christian and not have a Christian nature 00:27:38.45\00:27:42.02 is to not identify you as a Christian. 00:27:42.06\00:27:43.93 So not only is he called the Messiah or called the lamb, 00:27:43.96\00:27:47.66 but he should have a lamb-like character, right? 00:27:47.70\00:27:51.53 Would a lamb bite you? 00:27:51.57\00:27:55.90 I've never heard of it. 00:27:55.94\00:27:57.57 Would a lamb growl? 00:27:57.61\00:28:00.68 Would a lamb chase you? 00:28:00.71\00:28:02.98 I don't know too much about lambs, 00:28:03.01\00:28:04.78 so I won't answer that one. 00:28:04.81\00:28:07.32 But I know a goat would. 00:28:07.35\00:28:10.29 Would a lamb butt you or a goat? 00:28:10.32\00:28:14.06 A goat will butt you and knock you out. 00:28:14.09\00:28:16.32 I have a story that goes along with that. 00:28:16.36\00:28:18.69 Good friend of ours in California, 00:28:18.73\00:28:21.43 they had a tall goat. 00:28:21.46\00:28:22.93 I've seen goats in different sizes. 00:28:22.96\00:28:25.17 And this was a tall goat. 00:28:25.20\00:28:27.20 And they tied him in the center of their yard. 00:28:27.24\00:28:29.90 He was their natural lawnmower. 00:28:29.94\00:28:33.61 He ate the lawn 00:28:33.64\00:28:35.78 wherever his rope could carry him. 00:28:35.81\00:28:37.91 And when I went to visit them, they had a perfect circle 00:28:37.95\00:28:42.18 because the goat was... 00:28:42.22\00:28:43.55 They put the pole in the center of the lawn, 00:28:43.59\00:28:47.26 and they put the chain on the goat, 00:28:47.29\00:28:48.62 and he could cut... 00:28:48.66\00:28:49.99 I saw him eating, 00:28:50.03\00:28:51.36 and he was stretching his head to get to the end of that. 00:28:51.39\00:28:54.56 There was more grass beyond that, 00:28:54.60\00:28:55.93 but he couldn't get any further. 00:28:55.96\00:28:57.30 So they had this perfect circle. 00:28:57.33\00:28:59.97 Well, the owner went out there one day, 00:29:00.00\00:29:03.44 and he made a mistake, 00:29:03.47\00:29:06.91 and bent over to pick up something on the grass. 00:29:06.94\00:29:09.24 And the goat thought, "Oh, you want to play?" 00:29:09.28\00:29:13.52 And he knocked his owner out. 00:29:13.55\00:29:16.22 He rammed him with his horns, knocked him out. 00:29:16.25\00:29:19.92 He thought he was playing. 00:29:19.95\00:29:21.29 He woke up to the goat licking him on his face like, 00:29:21.32\00:29:24.03 "Did I hurt you?" 00:29:24.06\00:29:26.13 So a goat would do that but not a lamb. 00:29:26.16\00:29:30.40 The nature of Jesus is not fierce, 00:29:30.43\00:29:34.10 not combative, not vicious, 00:29:34.14\00:29:39.51 but in every way, just like a lamb. 00:29:39.54\00:29:42.38 Look at the prophecy of that, Isaiah 53. 00:29:42.41\00:29:45.61 Isaiah 53. That's why it's amazing. 00:29:45.65\00:29:50.12 When Jesus comes back, you find Him in Revelation 6. 00:29:50.15\00:29:55.26 The people that are not His are saints, 00:29:55.29\00:29:59.76 they're going to be running from Him, 00:29:59.79\00:30:01.40 and they're going to... 00:30:01.43\00:30:02.76 Well, I won't tell you, let's read this first. 00:30:02.80\00:30:04.60 Okay, here I am. 00:30:04.63\00:30:07.40 Isaiah 53, there I am. 00:30:07.44\00:30:13.61 And I'm going turn to that, going to loosen up these pages. 00:30:13.64\00:30:16.41 Isaiah 53:7, here it is. 00:30:16.44\00:30:21.15 The Bible says, "He was..." 00:30:21.18\00:30:22.52 What? 00:30:22.55\00:30:23.89 "Oppressed, and He was afflicted. 00:30:23.92\00:30:25.59 Yet He..." 00:30:25.62\00:30:26.96 Did what? 00:30:26.99\00:30:28.32 "Opened not His mouth, 00:30:28.36\00:30:30.06 He was led as a lamb to the slaughter 00:30:30.09\00:30:34.90 and as a sheep before its shearers is silent. 00:30:34.93\00:30:39.73 So He opened not His mouth." 00:30:39.77\00:30:43.30 You know, I heard looking into a little bit about a lamb, 00:30:43.34\00:30:47.18 one of the reasons why it's easy to shear a lamb, 00:30:47.21\00:30:49.28 you know what a shearing is? 00:30:49.31\00:30:50.75 Take that scissors, and they just... 00:30:50.78\00:30:52.88 Can you imagine trying to shear a goat? 00:30:52.91\00:30:54.58 You better be really good to shear a goat. 00:30:59.72\00:31:02.82 Try to cut your dogs hair? 00:31:02.86\00:31:04.96 It's a difficult thing. 00:31:04.99\00:31:06.66 Lest, of course, you have a great relationship. 00:31:06.70\00:31:09.56 But a lamb, there's something about a lamb 00:31:09.60\00:31:12.13 when he's laid on his back 00:31:12.17\00:31:14.44 that he just completely surrenders. 00:31:14.47\00:31:18.04 So all they do is they lay the lamb on his back, 00:31:18.07\00:31:21.11 and he lays there like, "This is it." 00:31:21.14\00:31:25.11 And they just shave his hair off. 00:31:25.15\00:31:28.02 They do it... 00:31:28.05\00:31:29.38 I mean, you should... 00:31:29.42\00:31:30.75 I'm not telling you to do this, but on YouTube 00:31:30.79\00:31:32.12 they show how easy it is. 00:31:32.15\00:31:33.49 They just take a nice shaver... 00:31:33.52\00:31:34.86 And today, I mean, back in the day, 00:31:34.89\00:31:36.49 it was a shearer. 00:31:36.52\00:31:38.83 It wasn't a shaver, electricity. 00:31:38.86\00:31:40.76 So they would take that, they cut close, 00:31:40.80\00:31:42.86 and it would be like they just peel this wool off. 00:31:42.90\00:31:45.40 And then he'd run out and go eat more grass 00:31:45.43\00:31:47.44 and go eat whatever until it grows back again. 00:31:47.47\00:31:49.94 But when they laid him on his back, 00:31:49.97\00:31:51.67 he just kind of gave in. 00:31:51.71\00:31:54.94 And it says, they don't start yelling 00:31:54.98\00:31:56.95 and trying to scratch you. 00:31:56.98\00:31:58.75 It says, "He did..." 00:31:58.78\00:32:00.12 What about His mouth? 00:32:00.15\00:32:01.52 "Didn't even open His mouth." 00:32:01.55\00:32:02.88 Didn't say, 00:32:02.92\00:32:04.25 "This is not supposed to be this way." 00:32:04.29\00:32:05.69 If lambs fought really hard, 00:32:05.72\00:32:08.42 we really wouldn't have as much wool today 00:32:08.46\00:32:10.99 as we do have. 00:32:11.03\00:32:12.36 We were in New Zealand, and we were there... 00:32:12.39\00:32:15.60 We went a few times, but the first time we went 00:32:15.63\00:32:17.43 to New Zealand, they had 3 million people 00:32:17.47\00:32:22.20 and 90 million sheep. 00:32:22.24\00:32:27.14 Can you imagine that? 00:32:27.18\00:32:28.78 So we went to a sheep farm, 00:32:28.81\00:32:31.21 I guess that's what they call it, 00:32:31.25\00:32:32.81 a sheep farm. 00:32:32.85\00:32:35.05 Man, it was... 00:32:35.08\00:32:38.35 If those were wolves, we'd be in trouble. 00:32:38.39\00:32:41.52 But you could just walk right in the middle of them, 00:32:41.56\00:32:43.16 and they just. 00:32:43.19\00:32:45.93 So you could touch them, you could feed them, 00:32:45.96\00:32:48.96 they're just so peaceful. 00:32:49.00\00:32:50.50 That's how Jesus is, peaceful, not combative. 00:32:50.53\00:32:54.20 He came to show the nature of the Father. 00:32:54.24\00:32:57.87 There was a song years ago. 00:32:57.91\00:33:01.91 They used to call it "Jesus, Meek and Mild". 00:33:01.94\00:33:03.38 I forgot the earlier lyrics to that. 00:33:03.41\00:33:05.51 But gentle, gentle Jesus meek and mild, 00:33:05.55\00:33:09.28 little poem about Jesus. 00:33:09.32\00:33:10.65 Yes, He is, praise the Lord for that. 00:33:10.69\00:33:12.72 So the Bible, Isaiah 53, 00:33:12.75\00:33:14.56 what are the two things that identify 00:33:14.59\00:33:16.19 with the lamb-like nature of Jesus? 00:33:16.22\00:33:18.03 Write those down. 00:33:18.06\00:33:20.06 What are the two things that this text brings out? 00:33:20.10\00:33:25.33 He opened not His mouth, 00:33:25.37\00:33:27.37 and He was silent before His shearers. 00:33:27.40\00:33:31.97 Wow! 00:33:32.01\00:33:33.34 This is interesting. 00:33:33.38\00:33:34.71 Now let's go to Matthew 15. 00:33:34.74\00:33:40.02 Mark 15:4-5, 00:33:40.05\00:33:45.89 the nature of Jesus. 00:33:45.92\00:33:49.22 Mark 15:4-5, for the fulfillment. 00:33:49.26\00:33:53.93 Okay, here we are. 00:34:08.21\00:34:09.54 This is Jesus in the presence of Pilate. 00:34:15.18\00:34:21.96 "Then Pilate asked Him again..." 00:34:21.99\00:34:25.76 Matter of fact, I want to read verse 1, 00:34:25.79\00:34:28.43 and when I get to verse 4, bring it up on the screen. 00:34:28.46\00:34:31.03 I got to go and just... 00:34:31.07\00:34:32.40 I want to put the context together. 00:34:32.43\00:34:34.37 Mark 15:1, "Immediately in the morning, 00:34:34.40\00:34:38.77 the chief priests held a consultation 00:34:38.81\00:34:40.81 with the elders and scribes and the whole council. 00:34:40.84\00:34:44.88 And they found, and they bound Jesus, 00:34:44.91\00:34:47.98 led Him away and delivered Him to Pilate." 00:34:48.02\00:34:51.45 Now if Jesus didn't want to be bound, 00:34:51.49\00:34:53.99 could He have stopped them? 00:34:54.02\00:34:57.79 He could have stopped them with the thought. 00:34:57.83\00:34:59.39 The ropes could have gotten off of Him and bound them, 00:34:59.43\00:35:02.76 but He didn't use any of His divinity. 00:35:02.80\00:35:05.33 He was led as a lamb... 00:35:05.37\00:35:06.70 Notice, this is the leading as a lamb to the slaughter. 00:35:06.74\00:35:09.50 They led Him, He let them bind Him. 00:35:09.54\00:35:13.54 Then verse 2, "Then Pilate and ask him," 00:35:13.58\00:35:17.65 in verse 2, 00:35:17.68\00:35:19.01 "'Are you the king of the Jews?' 00:35:19.05\00:35:21.32 He answered and said to him, 'It is as you say.' 00:35:21.35\00:35:25.49 And the chief priest accused Him of many things, 00:35:25.52\00:35:30.79 but He answered nothing.'" 00:35:30.83\00:35:32.56 You know how hard that is? 00:35:32.59\00:35:35.40 You know how hard that is to be accused 00:35:35.43\00:35:37.27 and say nothing? 00:35:37.30\00:35:40.17 Lord, help me to get there. 00:35:40.20\00:35:42.94 Amen? Amen. 00:35:42.97\00:35:44.94 That's some growth we still have to do. 00:35:44.97\00:35:47.54 Now verse 4 and 5, bring this up. 00:35:47.58\00:35:50.45 "Then Pilate asked Him again saying, 00:35:50.48\00:35:54.82 'Do you answer nothing? 00:35:54.85\00:35:57.65 See how many things they testify against You!' 00:35:57.69\00:36:01.32 But Jesus..." 00:36:01.36\00:36:02.69 What? 00:36:02.72\00:36:04.06 "Still answered nothing, so that Pilate marveled." 00:36:04.09\00:36:09.46 He said, "Wow, who's this guy?" 00:36:09.50\00:36:12.63 And, you know, when Pilate... 00:36:12.67\00:36:15.70 What did Pilate eventually try to do? 00:36:15.74\00:36:17.71 He tried to wash His hands 00:36:21.68\00:36:23.55 when he had the power to release Jesus. 00:36:23.58\00:36:25.91 He looked at Him, 00:36:25.95\00:36:27.28 he was hoping that they would... 00:36:27.32\00:36:28.65 That Jesus would give him some indication 00:36:28.68\00:36:30.55 that he was either innocent of these things 00:36:30.59\00:36:33.02 or guilty of these things, 00:36:33.05\00:36:34.82 but He was so peaceful in the midst of this tribunal. 00:36:34.86\00:36:38.09 He was so peaceful in the midst of those 00:36:38.13\00:36:39.79 that were persecuting Him, 00:36:39.83\00:36:41.16 accusing Him of all kinds of things, 00:36:41.20\00:36:43.16 and just human nature alone would have been, 00:36:43.20\00:36:46.17 you know, some of us would have said nothing 00:36:46.20\00:36:47.54 but would have been visibly shaken. 00:36:47.57\00:36:49.50 But I could guarantee you, Jesus wasn't visibly angry. 00:36:49.54\00:36:52.11 He didn't stand there with His anger seething. 00:36:52.14\00:36:54.98 He didn't have an angry face, He was as a lamb. 00:36:55.01\00:36:58.65 He had to have that kind of disposition 00:36:58.68\00:37:00.78 in order for Him to be Jesus 00:37:00.82\00:37:04.65 meek and mild, lowly Jesus. 00:37:04.69\00:37:07.36 So the answer is there. 00:37:07.39\00:37:08.72 So as we look at this, 00:37:08.76\00:37:10.09 we're going to wind up on this particular point. 00:37:10.13\00:37:11.49 We looked through a number of prophecies. 00:37:11.53\00:37:14.20 To be particular, 00:37:14.23\00:37:16.00 we looked at about maybe 20 of them or 15 of them. 00:37:16.03\00:37:18.90 If you missed the earlier parts of lesson number 36, 00:37:18.93\00:37:22.44 I recommend that you get that and look at the prior videos 00:37:22.47\00:37:26.47 about this particular topic on the truth about Jesus. 00:37:26.51\00:37:30.25 We covered many things, 00:37:30.28\00:37:31.61 not just the prophecies of Jesus, 00:37:31.65\00:37:33.52 but His work, His ministry, His life, 00:37:33.55\00:37:36.92 all those that identified the truth about Jesus. 00:37:36.95\00:37:40.46 I hope you really enjoy that. 00:37:40.49\00:37:42.12 We serve the Lamb. 00:37:42.16\00:37:44.33 Matter of fact, I want to end with this text. 00:37:44.36\00:37:45.69 Go to Revelation 6, 00:37:45.73\00:37:47.66 since we're talking about the lamb, okay? 00:37:47.70\00:37:53.27 Let's go to Revelation. 00:37:53.30\00:37:54.64 And when I say end, the program is not done yet, 00:37:54.67\00:37:56.30 so don't rush, don't get off your couch, 00:37:56.34\00:37:58.74 don't close your Bible. 00:37:58.77\00:38:00.78 Okay. 00:38:00.81\00:38:02.14 Revelation 6, and we're going to look at verse 16. 00:38:05.05\00:38:08.15 Actually, 00:38:08.18\00:38:10.75 since this is the second coming, 00:38:10.79\00:38:12.75 let's look at verse 14 down to 16. 00:38:12.79\00:38:14.69 The Bible says in verse 14, 00:38:20.33\00:38:22.16 "Then the sky receded or split apart 00:38:22.20\00:38:26.43 as a scroll when it is rolled up, 00:38:26.47\00:38:29.00 and every mountain and island was..." 00:38:29.04\00:38:30.81 What? "Moved out of its place. 00:38:30.84\00:38:34.21 And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, 00:38:34.24\00:38:38.18 the commanders, the mighty men, 00:38:38.21\00:38:40.98 every slave and every free man, 00:38:41.02\00:38:45.65 hid themselves in the caves 00:38:45.69\00:38:47.69 and in the rocks of the mountains." 00:38:47.72\00:38:49.59 Just to pause on the phrase "slave". 00:38:49.62\00:38:51.39 You know, we're living in 2016, these are modern times. 00:38:51.43\00:38:54.86 But I was surprised at the news, 00:38:54.90\00:38:57.43 I was watching maybe last week or the week before, they said, 00:38:57.47\00:38:59.43 "Do you know that there are more slaves today?" 00:38:59.47\00:39:02.34 There are more slaves today. 00:39:02.37\00:39:04.97 In various areas, 00:39:05.01\00:39:06.81 there are people that are held as slaves 00:39:06.84\00:39:08.38 to produce garments in some foreign countries, 00:39:08.41\00:39:11.31 slaves in factories, 00:39:11.35\00:39:12.91 there are people sold into the sex trade. 00:39:12.95\00:39:15.65 There are people that are... 00:39:15.68\00:39:17.45 That's why I believe it's India. 00:39:17.49\00:39:20.09 They're making it almost impossible 00:39:20.12\00:39:21.72 to adopt a child 00:39:21.76\00:39:23.26 because many of the children that were adopted in India, 00:39:23.29\00:39:25.93 and many of these foreign countries, 00:39:25.96\00:39:27.43 they were taken with the intention... 00:39:27.46\00:39:29.50 The people said, "Well, we're going to give them 00:39:29.53\00:39:30.93 a new home or wonderful life. 00:39:30.97\00:39:34.47 When they traced it, it was a sad story. 00:39:34.50\00:39:37.31 It was quite a dark place that these children ended up. 00:39:37.34\00:39:40.38 There are more slaves today than in the time of slavery, 00:39:40.41\00:39:44.71 you know, 70, 80 years ago. 00:39:44.75\00:39:46.88 And I'll tell you, it's global. 00:39:46.92\00:39:49.22 It's global. 00:39:49.25\00:39:50.59 So when you see the text, it says, 00:39:50.62\00:39:51.95 "Every slave and every free man." 00:39:51.99\00:39:53.32 When Jesus comes back, 00:39:53.36\00:39:54.69 they're going to be slaves of all kind, 00:39:54.72\00:39:57.23 all nationalities, 00:39:57.26\00:39:58.79 but look at the verse that we're going to point at. 00:39:58.83\00:40:01.00 And it says in verse 15, 00:40:01.03\00:40:02.50 "And they hid themselves in the caves 00:40:02.53\00:40:04.07 and in the rocks of the mountains." 00:40:04.10\00:40:05.97 And notice this. 00:40:06.00\00:40:07.37 "And said to the mountains and the rocks, 'Fall on us, 00:40:07.40\00:40:11.14 hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne 00:40:11.17\00:40:14.44 and from the wrath of the Lamb! 00:40:14.48\00:40:17.85 For the great day of His wrath has come 00:40:17.88\00:40:21.18 and who is able to stand?'" 00:40:21.22\00:40:23.72 So the Lamb 00:40:23.75\00:40:25.79 slain from the foundation of the world, 00:40:25.82\00:40:27.79 Revelation 13, 00:40:27.82\00:40:29.29 the Lamb who was led to His persecution 00:40:29.32\00:40:34.00 and to His death, and didn't open His mouth, 00:40:34.03\00:40:36.06 didn't fight to free Himself. 00:40:36.10\00:40:38.20 The Lamb will come back one day. 00:40:38.23\00:40:40.44 Let me encourage you not to just learn 00:40:40.47\00:40:42.50 about the prophecies of the Lamb 00:40:42.54\00:40:44.24 but to accept the Lamb as your Savior. 00:40:44.27\00:40:46.31 Amen? 00:40:46.34\00:40:47.68 So that when He comes, we will be in the right group. 00:40:47.71\00:40:50.25 We'll be coming... 00:40:50.28\00:40:51.61 If we're in the mountains, we'll be coming out, 00:40:51.65\00:40:53.21 we're not running in. 00:40:53.25\00:40:54.58 Praise God for that. 00:40:54.62\00:40:56.35 Let's go to the next slide. This is very interesting slide. 00:40:56.38\00:40:58.39 I want to emphasize this point. 00:40:58.42\00:40:59.75 Our next topic we're dealing with 00:40:59.79\00:41:01.62 is lesson number 37 and notice this. 00:41:01.66\00:41:03.76 Let's bring the slide up. 00:41:03.79\00:41:05.13 We're talking about dealing with what? 00:41:05.16\00:41:07.50 Dealing with anger. 00:41:07.53\00:41:09.03 Now what prompted me to cover this topic is... 00:41:09.06\00:41:12.63 That's a pretty interesting picture there. 00:41:12.67\00:41:15.37 Man, I'll tell you, 00:41:15.40\00:41:16.74 there's amazing stories about things that happen 00:41:16.77\00:41:18.54 when people get angry. 00:41:18.57\00:41:20.18 I remember the story about the guy 00:41:20.21\00:41:21.54 who woke up in the morning and some 00:41:21.58\00:41:22.91 unusual incident happened in his home, 00:41:22.94\00:41:24.71 kicked the dog, and it just went downhill from there. 00:41:24.75\00:41:28.08 And so many programs on television talk about anger. 00:41:28.12\00:41:32.45 What do they suggest 00:41:32.49\00:41:33.82 when you can't control your anger? 00:41:33.86\00:41:35.19 What do they call it? 00:41:35.22\00:41:36.69 Anger management. 00:41:36.73\00:41:38.99 There are many people that don't know 00:41:39.03\00:41:40.36 what to do with their anger. 00:41:40.40\00:41:41.73 And as I mentioned to you just a moment ago, 00:41:41.76\00:41:44.20 when the Bible talks about anger or being angry, 00:41:44.23\00:41:46.74 it mentions that over 130 times 00:41:46.77\00:41:49.57 about anger in the Old Testament. 00:41:49.60\00:41:51.47 As a matter of fact, trivia, are you ready? 00:41:51.51\00:41:55.54 Who was the first one in the Bible 00:41:55.58\00:41:58.25 that allowed his anger to lead him to murder? 00:41:58.28\00:42:02.02 Cain! Cain. 00:42:02.05\00:42:04.55 And the Lord looked at him, He says, "Why are you angry?" 00:42:04.59\00:42:10.03 Just a brother. 00:42:10.06\00:42:11.39 He just had a brother, 00:42:11.43\00:42:12.76 a mother, and a father, he said, 00:42:12.79\00:42:14.76 "Why is your countenance downcast? 00:42:14.80\00:42:17.53 What's your... 00:42:17.57\00:42:18.90 What's wrong with you?" 00:42:18.93\00:42:20.40 And then we read about... 00:42:20.44\00:42:21.77 The Bible says, 00:42:21.80\00:42:23.14 "The blood of your brother crieth to me 00:42:23.17\00:42:25.07 from the ground." 00:42:25.11\00:42:27.34 Did the Lord know what happened? 00:42:27.38\00:42:29.94 And also, you read the story of Jonah, 00:42:29.98\00:42:31.48 we're going to just bring out a couple of examples. 00:42:31.51\00:42:33.52 Jonah, we call him the reluctant evangelist. 00:42:33.55\00:42:37.79 The Lord said go to Tarshish, go to Nineveh, 00:42:37.82\00:42:41.32 he went to Tarshish instead. 00:42:41.36\00:42:43.56 Nineveh was in one direction, Tarshish, try to say that, 00:42:43.59\00:42:47.73 was in a completely different direction. 00:42:47.76\00:42:49.86 He went down to the sea coast, 00:42:49.90\00:42:53.90 went down to the port and paid, 00:42:53.94\00:42:56.47 for the fear went down into the ship. 00:42:56.50\00:42:58.64 What happens when you're running from Jesus? 00:42:58.67\00:43:00.04 Your life goes down, down, down. 00:43:00.08\00:43:03.75 And then a great storm hit the boat, 00:43:03.78\00:43:06.55 and they were wondering, 00:43:06.58\00:43:07.92 "What's the storm was all about?" 00:43:07.95\00:43:09.28 These mariners, these fishermen, these sailors, 00:43:09.32\00:43:12.75 these mariners, 00:43:12.79\00:43:14.12 they had thought we've never been in a storm this way, 00:43:14.16\00:43:16.06 and finally Jonah said, "I'm the reason." 00:43:16.09\00:43:18.56 They throw him overboard, he gets swallowed by a fish, 00:43:18.59\00:43:21.76 ends up at Nineveh, preaches a sermon, 00:43:21.80\00:43:25.00 and the city repents, 120,000 people. 00:43:25.03\00:43:28.14 And he sits there says, 00:43:28.17\00:43:30.97 if I had 120, 000 converts with one sermon, 00:43:31.01\00:43:34.11 would you be happy? 00:43:34.14\00:43:36.18 He hated Nineveh so much, 00:43:36.21\00:43:37.55 he wanted to see Nineveh destroyed. 00:43:37.58\00:43:39.31 And the Lord... 00:43:39.35\00:43:40.68 So he sat under a tree, and the sun rose up, 00:43:40.72\00:43:44.79 and the tree dried up. 00:43:44.82\00:43:46.52 And there was Jonah sitting in the hot sun 00:43:46.55\00:43:48.96 angry at the tree. 00:43:48.99\00:43:50.46 And the Lord says, "Jonah, what's your problem?" 00:43:50.49\00:43:53.19 He's angry at the tree. 00:43:53.23\00:43:56.56 He's angry at the people that repented. 00:43:56.60\00:43:59.63 And the story of Jonah, 00:43:59.67\00:44:02.04 only four verses, only four chapters, sorry, 00:44:02.07\00:44:04.47 only four chapters deal with the story of Jonah. 00:44:04.51\00:44:07.11 But Jonah's major downfall was disobedience and anger. 00:44:07.14\00:44:11.88 Didn't want to do God's will, reluctantly did it, 00:44:11.91\00:44:14.88 God converted that city. 00:44:14.92\00:44:18.22 And the last thing we hear about Jonah was he was angry. 00:44:18.25\00:44:21.16 Story kind of ends after Jonah's anger. 00:44:21.19\00:44:23.26 So let's talk about dealing with anger, 00:44:23.29\00:44:25.76 this topic of anger 00:44:25.79\00:44:27.30 because Christians do get angry. 00:44:27.33\00:44:29.63 Do we get angry? 00:44:29.66\00:44:31.67 Okay, we get angry. 00:44:31.70\00:44:33.47 Sometimes we get angry during the week, 00:44:33.50\00:44:36.81 very few Christians get angry on Sabbath morning. 00:44:36.84\00:44:40.61 Exactly. 00:44:40.64\00:44:44.18 Do we get angry with our relatives? 00:44:44.21\00:44:47.58 With our friends? 00:44:47.62\00:44:50.69 Our spouses? 00:44:50.72\00:44:54.52 Yes. 00:44:54.56\00:44:55.89 Anger is a natural reaction. 00:44:55.92\00:44:59.23 Let me tell you why it's natural. 00:44:59.26\00:45:01.16 If the Lord didn't want us to get angry, 00:45:01.20\00:45:02.90 He wouldn't even create 00:45:02.93\00:45:04.57 the ability to get angry, right? 00:45:04.60\00:45:07.34 So we have that ability to get angry. 00:45:07.37\00:45:09.87 Let's look at some of these things. 00:45:09.90\00:45:11.91 Question number one, 00:45:11.94\00:45:13.71 question number one, and here it is. 00:45:13.74\00:45:17.85 "What does the Bible reveal about God's anger?" 00:45:17.88\00:45:22.25 Ooh, God's anger? 00:45:22.28\00:45:25.72 Let's go to Psalm 103, 00:45:25.75\00:45:27.76 and we're going to look at verse 8 and 9. 00:45:27.79\00:45:31.29 God's anger, 00:45:31.33\00:45:33.66 Psalm 103:8 and 9. 00:45:33.70\00:45:39.47 Hmm, this is a beautiful passage by the way. 00:45:39.50\00:45:44.47 Okay, let's look at verse 8 and 9. 00:45:44.51\00:45:46.61 Here it is. 00:45:46.64\00:45:50.28 Verse 8 reads as follows. 00:45:50.31\00:45:53.01 It says, "The Lord is..." 00:45:53.05\00:45:56.45 What? 00:45:56.48\00:45:57.82 "Merciful and..." 00:45:57.85\00:45:59.19 What else? 00:45:59.22\00:46:00.56 "Gracious." What's the next word? 00:46:00.59\00:46:02.92 "Slow to anger and abounding in..." 00:46:02.96\00:46:06.73 What? "In mercy. 00:46:06.76\00:46:09.16 He will not always strive with us 00:46:09.20\00:46:12.53 nor will He keep His anger..." 00:46:12.57\00:46:14.40 For how long? "Forever." 00:46:14.44\00:46:16.27 So does He get angry? Yeah. 00:46:16.30\00:46:19.21 How many people keep their anger 00:46:19.24\00:46:20.98 for a long time? 00:46:21.01\00:46:24.15 What's your... 00:46:24.18\00:46:25.51 You still... 00:46:25.55\00:46:27.02 "Yanick, you still upset about that? 00:46:27.05\00:46:28.92 When did it happen?" 00:46:28.95\00:46:30.29 I've had some people say, "I'm angry." 00:46:30.32\00:46:32.65 And they tell me their story, and I say, 00:46:32.69\00:46:34.02 "When did that happen?" 00:46:34.06\00:46:35.82 And they mentioned it to me, and I said, "Are you serious? 00:46:35.86\00:46:39.06 How many years was that?" 00:46:39.09\00:46:40.96 There were some people, we met a few days ago, 00:46:41.00\00:46:42.86 we were down in Tennessee, 00:46:42.90\00:46:44.93 and we met a security guard at one of the plants there. 00:46:44.97\00:46:50.41 I want to be very general about it. 00:46:50.44\00:46:52.87 And it was... 00:46:52.91\00:46:55.94 We identified ourselves, I left my business card, 00:46:55.98\00:46:57.81 they said, "Who are you?" 00:46:57.85\00:46:59.18 And I said "Well, I'm a pastor. 00:46:59.21\00:47:00.55 Here's my card." 00:47:00.58\00:47:01.92 "Oh, you're an Adventist pastor." 00:47:01.95\00:47:03.28 He said, "I used to go to the Adventist church." 00:47:03.32\00:47:06.89 "Used to?" 00:47:06.92\00:47:08.26 "Yeah, I used to, but I had a bad experience. 00:47:08.29\00:47:10.59 Made me really angry. I don't go anymore." 00:47:10.63\00:47:13.96 "How long has it been?" 00:47:14.00\00:47:15.33 "Oh, it's been about..." 00:47:15.36\00:47:19.97 And he tried to come up with it. 00:47:20.00\00:47:22.27 But I was so glad when I said, "Are you serious? 00:47:22.30\00:47:24.07 You haven't been that long." 00:47:24.11\00:47:25.44 He said, "No, no, really, 00:47:25.47\00:47:26.81 I don't go to that one anymore, but I do go." 00:47:26.84\00:47:28.94 I said, "Ah! 00:47:28.98\00:47:30.45 I feel better." 00:47:30.48\00:47:31.81 You know, he said, 00:47:31.85\00:47:33.18 "I don't go to that one anymore, 00:47:33.21\00:47:34.55 but I still go." 00:47:34.58\00:47:35.92 I said, "Okay" 'Cause I said now... 00:47:35.95\00:47:37.35 I said, "Who we're looking for may not be here today, 00:47:37.39\00:47:39.59 but we may have come 00:47:39.62\00:47:40.96 just to tell you need get back in church." 00:47:40.99\00:47:43.26 And he was kind of sheepish about it. 00:47:43.29\00:47:46.03 And we've traveled, and we've heard people. 00:47:46.06\00:47:47.76 We were in South Dakota many years ago, 00:47:47.80\00:47:50.17 is that where the four heads of the presidents are? 00:47:50.20\00:47:51.93 South Dakota. 00:47:51.97\00:47:53.30 We were there for their 50th inauguration... 00:47:53.34\00:47:55.57 For the inauguration that never happened after 50 years, 00:47:55.60\00:47:57.91 and I was invited to sing, 00:47:57.94\00:47:59.44 and President Daddy Bush was there, 00:47:59.47\00:48:01.64 and we went there and didn't know why. 00:48:01.68\00:48:04.15 It was an interdenominational group, 00:48:04.18\00:48:05.71 and I was singing a song "God Bless USA". 00:48:05.75\00:48:08.52 And they said, "When you sing, just look forward, 00:48:08.55\00:48:10.39 don't look up, the jets are going to fly over, 00:48:10.42\00:48:13.09 the Red Baron's going to fly over, 00:48:13.12\00:48:14.79 the F-18s and the B-1 bomber. 00:48:14.82\00:48:17.16 And I want to look so badly, 00:48:17.19\00:48:18.89 but he said, "Don't look up 00:48:18.93\00:48:20.26 because the president's going to be watching you, 00:48:20.30\00:48:21.76 all the color guards are there. 00:48:21.80\00:48:23.13 But the days before in practice, 00:48:23.16\00:48:25.13 we met four Adventists that had left the church. 00:48:25.17\00:48:30.04 And we said, "Now we know why we're here." 00:48:30.07\00:48:33.74 And when we heard their reasons. 00:48:33.78\00:48:35.11 One left because the pastor got him upset, 00:48:35.14\00:48:36.81 and she played the organ. 00:48:36.85\00:48:38.18 She hadn't been back for nine years. 00:48:38.21\00:48:40.08 And since he's... 00:48:40.12\00:48:41.82 Oh, these are serious things. 00:48:41.85\00:48:43.18 And since she's married, her husband didn't go back. 00:48:43.22\00:48:46.29 And then the other one was a Sabbath school teacher 00:48:46.32\00:48:47.66 at the same church. 00:48:47.69\00:48:49.02 And she got offended by something that was said 00:48:49.06\00:48:50.39 to somebody else about her, she left. 00:48:50.43\00:48:52.99 And I thought... 00:48:53.03\00:48:54.36 And so we visited them at their house 00:48:54.40\00:48:56.77 and got to know them better, and they told us their story. 00:48:56.80\00:48:59.90 And as they were telling the story, 00:48:59.93\00:49:04.64 you could almost see their faces 00:49:04.67\00:49:06.31 kind of like saying, "Really? 00:49:06.34\00:49:08.84 Is that it?" 00:49:08.88\00:49:10.31 And they had that look, and I said, 00:49:10.35\00:49:11.68 "Honestly, it's been a long time. 00:49:11.71\00:49:14.15 It's time for you to go back." 00:49:14.18\00:49:15.52 And I still have the letters in my file to this very day. 00:49:15.55\00:49:19.05 All three of them, it was a number of months later 00:49:19.09\00:49:21.06 they wrote us back. 00:49:21.09\00:49:22.42 And they said, "We're back in the church." 00:49:22.46\00:49:24.19 And the one that was playing the organ, she said, 00:49:24.23\00:49:25.56 "I'm playing the organ again." 00:49:25.59\00:49:27.40 But they dealt with their anger. 00:49:27.43\00:49:29.20 See anger is a self-destroying attitude. 00:49:29.23\00:49:35.40 Anger destroys the person 00:49:35.44\00:49:37.24 who is angry more than the person we're angry with. 00:49:37.27\00:49:41.38 That's why I look at this slide. 00:49:41.41\00:49:42.74 I've of kind of done something little different, 00:49:42.78\00:49:44.31 look at the slide. 00:49:44.35\00:49:45.68 So you might write this down. 00:49:45.71\00:49:47.75 Write this down under point number one. 00:49:47.78\00:49:49.12 Here it is, bring it up, bring the slide up. 00:49:49.15\00:49:51.49 Be slow, bring up my slide for me. 00:49:51.52\00:49:54.42 Be slow to anger. 00:49:54.46\00:49:57.79 Be what? 00:49:57.83\00:49:59.16 Slow to anger. 00:49:59.19\00:50:01.80 Be slow because that's what Jesus is, slow to anger. 00:50:01.83\00:50:07.04 And don't keep your anger forever. 00:50:07.07\00:50:09.40 That's why that picture was significant. 00:50:09.44\00:50:11.24 He has a piece of tape over his mouth 00:50:11.27\00:50:12.61 because you know what, 00:50:12.64\00:50:13.98 people that are angry 00:50:14.01\00:50:15.38 shouldn't speak when they're angry 00:50:15.41\00:50:17.88 because the worst words come out when you're angry, 00:50:17.91\00:50:21.18 because the worst thoughts... 00:50:21.22\00:50:22.78 Or like, the thoughts are like the engine 00:50:22.82\00:50:24.89 that's revving in the background 00:50:24.92\00:50:26.69 and if you just release the brake 00:50:26.72\00:50:29.02 and put that thought in gear, 00:50:29.06\00:50:31.43 you'd run somebody over emotionally. 00:50:31.46\00:50:34.93 And emotionally, sometimes people say... 00:50:34.96\00:50:37.07 Have you heard that phrase years ago, 00:50:37.10\00:50:38.67 "Sticks and stones may break my bones..." 00:50:38.70\00:50:40.90 What? 00:50:40.94\00:50:42.27 "Words will never harm me." 00:50:42.30\00:50:43.97 That's not true. 00:50:44.01\00:50:45.47 Words are so damaging, today, 00:50:45.51\00:50:46.84 they have an anti-bullying law which... 00:50:46.88\00:50:50.51 When I was growing up, when we were growing up, 00:50:50.55\00:50:52.21 kids were ruthless, 00:50:52.25\00:50:53.88 but we didn't have an anti-bullying law. 00:50:53.92\00:50:55.98 So let's exemplify the character. 00:50:56.02\00:50:58.42 So what does the Bible reveal about God's anger? 00:50:58.45\00:51:00.62 What did you write down? 00:51:00.66\00:51:02.26 He's slow to anger, He's merciful, 00:51:02.29\00:51:04.93 He will not keep His anger forever. 00:51:04.96\00:51:07.00 Let me encourage you, 00:51:07.03\00:51:08.36 if you're angry about something, 00:51:08.40\00:51:09.73 learn how to deal with that anger. 00:51:09.76\00:51:11.73 If you're a person that tends to lose your temper, 00:51:11.77\00:51:15.67 pray for God to get that temper under control 00:51:15.70\00:51:18.57 because we fly off our handle. 00:51:18.61\00:51:20.44 You know, sometimes I'm talking to people... 00:51:20.48\00:51:24.81 Let me not talk about other people, 00:51:24.85\00:51:26.18 let me just say myself. 00:51:26.21\00:51:27.55 Confession is good for the soul, 00:51:30.79\00:51:32.12 heart and the repute. 00:51:32.15\00:51:33.49 I've been in positions before where I was so internally upset 00:51:33.52\00:51:36.79 that while the person is speaking, 00:51:36.83\00:51:38.69 my kettle is boiling. 00:51:38.73\00:51:41.53 Have we been there? Oh, yes. 00:51:41.56\00:51:43.06 And you can't wait till they take a breath 00:51:43.10\00:51:45.63 so you can insert 00:51:45.67\00:51:47.34 into that quarter of a second space 00:51:47.37\00:51:50.64 exactly what you want to say. 00:51:50.67\00:51:52.24 You're waiting for that breath. 00:51:52.27\00:51:54.51 And that's why some people when they're angry, 00:51:54.54\00:51:55.98 they don't take a breath because they know that 00:51:56.01\00:51:58.41 when you insert into there, it's going to go on. 00:51:58.45\00:52:01.28 Have you ever been so angry that you go home 00:52:01.32\00:52:02.82 and you think about what you didn't say? 00:52:02.85\00:52:05.35 If I see them again... 00:52:05.39\00:52:07.49 And you have another fight. 00:52:07.52\00:52:09.42 These are afflictions that even Christians deal with. 00:52:09.46\00:52:12.19 You got to be like Jesus. 00:52:12.23\00:52:13.63 You've got to be like who? Jesus. 00:52:13.66\00:52:15.50 Anger could destroy congregations. 00:52:15.53\00:52:20.27 Oh, man, anger. 00:52:20.30\00:52:23.34 And the Bible says in the last days, 00:52:23.37\00:52:25.07 "One of the signs of the last days, 00:52:25.11\00:52:26.78 the nations are angry." 00:52:26.81\00:52:29.71 Is our world angry? 00:52:29.74\00:52:31.85 Are the nations angry? 00:52:31.88\00:52:34.08 Is America angry? 00:52:34.12\00:52:36.35 Let me leave it there. 00:52:36.38\00:52:39.42 I choose not to date this program. 00:52:39.45\00:52:43.22 Okay, let's go to the next one. 00:52:43.26\00:52:46.43 Pray for God to help you deal with your anger 00:52:46.46\00:52:49.23 because it could destroy families terribly. 00:52:49.26\00:52:52.13 People slam doors and break stuff 00:52:52.17\00:52:53.94 that they can't put back together, 00:52:53.97\00:52:56.04 you know, throwing stuff out the window, 00:52:56.07\00:52:58.51 smashed the television, 00:52:58.54\00:52:59.87 kick their foot through the door. 00:52:59.91\00:53:01.34 I made my comment, do I keep going? 00:53:01.38\00:53:03.28 Rip up stuff that they can't put back together. 00:53:03.31\00:53:05.81 Anger, I'm thinking of all these instances, 00:53:05.85\00:53:07.62 wow, anger is terrible. 00:53:07.65\00:53:10.12 Let's go to the next one, number two, number two. 00:53:10.15\00:53:14.72 "What kind of emotional disposition 00:53:14.76\00:53:17.09 should we have towards anger?" 00:53:17.13\00:53:20.40 What kind of emotional disposition 00:53:20.43\00:53:22.70 should we have towards anger? 00:53:22.73\00:53:26.50 Psalm 145:8. 00:53:26.53\00:53:29.24 Since we're in Psalm, let's look at that. 00:53:29.27\00:53:33.58 Psalm 145:8. 00:53:33.61\00:53:36.58 Okay, here it is. 00:53:40.82\00:53:43.75 This is kind of reiteration, but we're going to cover 00:53:43.79\00:53:45.45 a couple of other things in this area. 00:53:45.49\00:53:47.79 The Bible says, "The Lord is..." 00:53:47.82\00:53:49.72 What? 00:53:49.76\00:53:51.09 "Gracious and full of compassion." 00:53:51.13\00:53:54.33 Next three words, "Slow to anger..." 00:53:54.36\00:53:57.17 And what else? 00:53:57.20\00:53:58.53 "Great in..." 00:53:58.57\00:53:59.90 What? "Mercy." 00:53:59.93\00:54:01.27 Now let me point out something, 00:54:01.30\00:54:02.64 you don't really know why people get angry. 00:54:02.67\00:54:05.24 I've had people get angry with me 00:54:05.27\00:54:06.64 in a position as a pastor. 00:54:06.68\00:54:08.41 I always say, and I've learned... 00:54:08.44\00:54:10.31 I mean, I've grown, 00:54:10.35\00:54:12.01 I have come to the place where I have said, 00:54:12.05\00:54:14.35 and in many cases, I've been right, 00:54:14.38\00:54:16.22 but in some cases, 00:54:16.25\00:54:18.02 in some cases and very rare cases, 00:54:18.05\00:54:20.36 it's been like, "Really? 00:54:20.39\00:54:22.09 Did you get angry over that? 00:54:22.12\00:54:24.56 You must have missed what I said before that." 00:54:24.59\00:54:26.80 Sometimes people will hear a sermon, 00:54:26.83\00:54:28.16 I'd say something in the sermon, 00:54:28.20\00:54:29.70 and that's all they will hear, 00:54:29.73\00:54:31.97 and they won't come back to church. 00:54:32.00\00:54:33.80 And they'll come up with this crazy concept 00:54:33.84\00:54:37.14 that I don't like a certain kind of vehicle 00:54:37.17\00:54:39.37 because I mentioned it in my sermon. 00:54:39.41\00:54:40.88 My whole point was, "You can't drive to heaven no matter 00:54:40.91\00:54:42.81 what kind of vehicle you have." 00:54:42.84\00:54:44.68 But slow to anger, gracious, full of compassion, 00:54:44.71\00:54:47.98 so let's write that down. 00:54:48.02\00:54:49.78 What kind of disposition should we have towards anger? 00:54:49.82\00:54:53.56 We put down slow but be full of compassion, 00:54:53.59\00:54:56.52 be great in mercy 00:54:56.56\00:54:58.23 because angry people hurt people. 00:54:58.26\00:55:04.37 Hurting people hurt people. 00:55:04.40\00:55:07.67 Angry people sometimes build their own jail, 00:55:07.70\00:55:10.74 and they lock themselves in, and they refuse to get out. 00:55:10.77\00:55:14.88 And I think sometimes it is 00:55:14.91\00:55:16.31 because pride keeps some people angry 00:55:16.34\00:55:20.28 until they feel justified. 00:55:20.32\00:55:25.39 You know, angry people sometimes 00:55:25.42\00:55:26.76 want to be vindicated. 00:55:26.79\00:55:28.12 They want somebody to say, "You're angry for good reason." 00:55:28.16\00:55:31.86 Not always the case. 00:55:31.89\00:55:33.23 You don't always have the right reason to be angry. 00:55:33.26\00:55:34.96 Sometimes you could be angry for the wrong reason. 00:55:35.00\00:55:36.97 But because you came up with the idea to be angry, 00:55:37.00\00:55:39.57 then all of a sudden, you want people to vindicate, 00:55:39.60\00:55:41.24 "Yes, Yanick, you are good at being angry." 00:55:41.27\00:55:43.61 No, be full of compassion, be gracious, 00:55:43.64\00:55:46.88 put yourself in the other person's position and realize. 00:55:46.91\00:55:49.88 So here's my point, look at the next slide. 00:55:49.91\00:55:52.88 Don't let anger become your first reaction. 00:55:52.91\00:55:57.09 Look at that slide. 00:55:57.12\00:55:58.45 Don't let anger become your first reaction. 00:55:58.49\00:56:02.62 Can you bring my slide up for me there? 00:56:02.66\00:56:05.03 Don't let anger become your first reaction. 00:56:05.06\00:56:08.86 Because when anger is your first reaction... 00:56:08.90\00:56:11.93 Don't let anger become your first reaction. 00:56:11.97\00:56:14.57 When anger is your first reaction, 00:56:14.60\00:56:16.30 sometimes, to some people, that's your last reaction. 00:56:16.34\00:56:20.44 Because I tell you sometimes we could blow up on people, 00:56:20.48\00:56:23.71 and while we're exploding, 00:56:23.75\00:56:27.65 they just turn around and just walk away, 00:56:27.68\00:56:30.42 don't want to talk to us anymore. 00:56:30.45\00:56:32.92 And I also found this out, as a pastor, 00:56:32.95\00:56:36.09 I was talking about this 00:56:36.12\00:56:37.46 at Southern University just a few days ago. 00:56:37.49\00:56:40.90 And I said to one of the students. 00:56:40.93\00:56:43.37 We were talking about... 00:56:43.40\00:56:44.73 I forgot what the topic was, but we're saying. 00:56:44.77\00:56:47.90 You know, I said, "As student, you guys could lose your temper 00:56:47.94\00:56:51.64 in this cafeteria and get into a yelling match, 00:56:51.67\00:56:54.98 and you could apologize tomorrow, 00:56:55.01\00:56:56.95 and people will forgive you. 00:56:56.98\00:56:58.48 But if I got angry 00:56:58.51\00:57:00.65 and blew my temper in your cafeteria, 00:57:00.68\00:57:03.18 you know, they'll say, 'Isn't that guy from 3ABN? 00:57:03.22\00:57:06.15 Isn't that Pastor Lomacang? 00:57:06.19\00:57:08.86 Oh, I'm not watching 00:57:08.89\00:57:10.23 that network ever again.'" 00:57:10.26\00:57:14.23 You know, certain people can't afford to get angry. 00:57:14.26\00:57:17.37 So, you know, what happens when we're angry, 00:57:17.40\00:57:19.07 we go home and say, "Lord, I'm angry, help me with it." 00:57:19.10\00:57:22.64 Because we all, at one point or another, 00:57:22.67\00:57:24.67 get angry, isn't that right? 00:57:24.71\00:57:26.61 But don't let anger become your first reaction. 00:57:26.64\00:57:29.78 Analyze the situation, 00:57:29.81\00:57:32.15 find out where that anger is coming from, 00:57:32.18\00:57:33.95 find out what the purpose of your anger is, 00:57:33.98\00:57:36.69 and don't let it become the master over you. 00:57:36.72\00:57:39.05 So write that third point down 00:57:39.09\00:57:40.96 under number two or second point. 00:57:40.99\00:57:43.02 Don't let anger become your first reaction. 00:57:43.06\00:57:46.03 Friends, we're going to continue 00:57:46.06\00:57:47.40 in this very practical topic, 00:57:47.43\00:57:49.13 invite your friends to be a part of it 00:57:49.16\00:57:50.70 because we know 00:57:50.73\00:57:52.07 that if it doesn't make sense right now, 00:57:52.10\00:57:53.44 just keep studying God's Word, 00:57:53.47\00:57:54.80 one day, it will come into A Sharper Focus. 00:57:54.84\00:57:58.17 God bless you. 00:57:58.21\00:57:59.61
