Amen! 00:00:26.86\00:00:29.76 And thank you so much for taking the time to pause your evening 00:00:29.79\00:00:33.73 and to get your Bibles, and invite your friends, 00:00:33.76\00:00:35.86 and family members to tune in tonight as we continue in the 00:00:35.90\00:00:39.37 topic, The Christian Obligation. 00:00:39.40\00:00:41.04 We're going to finish this topic tonight, and I'm excited to 00:00:41.07\00:00:44.17 announce if the world continues spinning for another week, 00:00:44.21\00:00:48.18 and all things go according to God's plan, the next lesson 00:00:48.21\00:00:51.41 is going to be, The Truth About Jesus. 00:00:51.45\00:00:54.08 Now the reason why I've chosen that topic is, a lot of people 00:00:54.12\00:00:57.42 might say, Well, what's not the truth? 00:00:57.45\00:01:00.42 What's the truth that's not about Jesus? 00:01:00.46\00:01:02.39 Jesus is the truth, many people might say. 00:01:02.42\00:01:04.96 But the reality is, if the truth about Jesus were accepted 00:01:04.99\00:01:10.13 then there would be less non-believers, 00:01:10.17\00:01:13.17 that there will be more people believing in Jesus. 00:01:13.20\00:01:16.47 You know, the Bible says, He's the way, 00:01:16.50\00:01:18.17 the truth, and the life. 00:01:18.21\00:01:19.54 I'm kind of going ahead of my schedule here, because I often 00:01:19.57\00:01:21.51 talk about where to get the lessons before I do this. 00:01:21.54\00:01:23.45 But it's going to be a very exciting topic, 00:01:23.48\00:01:26.78 The Truth About Jesus, covering not only who He is, 00:01:26.82\00:01:30.75 but Bible prophecies pointing to the accuracy, 00:01:30.79\00:01:33.52 and the confirmation of the ministry of Jesus. 00:01:33.56\00:01:36.26 And so I'll tell you a little bit more about that before 00:01:36.29\00:01:39.79 we get into our topic tonight, after our theme song, 00:01:39.83\00:01:43.26 and after I tell you where to get the lesson. 00:01:43.30\00:01:44.80 But the first thing is let's have prayer together. 00:01:44.83\00:01:47.30 Loving Father in Heaven, we thank You. 00:01:47.34\00:01:49.77 The opportunity is always ours, and surely the blessing is ours 00:01:49.80\00:01:53.94 also, as we open Your the word and study together. 00:01:53.98\00:01:57.15 Tonight Lord, come. 00:01:57.18\00:01:58.51 Be our teacher through Your Holy Spirit. 00:01:58.55\00:02:01.22 Empower our minds to absorb what You will have us to learn, 00:02:01.25\00:02:06.76 and may the glory for the knowledge received, 00:02:06.79\00:02:09.56 and the power accompanying it, go back to You we pray, 00:02:09.59\00:02:13.33 in Jesus' name, Amen. 00:02:13.36\00:02:15.73 Now to get a copy of our lesson, go to this following website: 00:02:15.76\00:02:20.74 and download lesson #35, The Truth About the 00:02:24.47\00:02:28.31 Christian Obligation, The Truth About the Christian Obligation. 00:02:28.34\00:02:31.55 And there at that very same website you can get the videos 00:02:31.58\00:02:34.32 of the prior lessons, you can download the lessons themselves. 00:02:34.35\00:02:38.02 But if you want to find out how to peer the two, what you do is 00:02:38.05\00:02:41.02 you play the video. 00:02:41.06\00:02:42.39 At the very beginning of the video it tells you what lesson 00:02:42.42\00:02:44.36 it's associated with. 00:02:44.39\00:02:45.79 And you have a number of Bible studies, at least 35 Bible 00:02:45.83\00:02:48.70 Studies with more than 108 videos. 00:02:48.73\00:02:52.10 That's 108 hours of video. Amen? 00:02:52.13\00:02:55.14 That's almost an entire... 00:02:55.17\00:02:56.50 If you did nothing, but stayed in the house all week long; 00:02:56.54\00:02:58.74 that's about almost an entire week, 00:02:58.77\00:03:00.88 short of sixty hours, obviously. 00:03:00.91\00:03:03.11 But we're going to sing our theme song tonight before 00:03:03.14\00:03:05.95 we go into our lesson. 00:03:05.98\00:03:07.32 Our theme song is entitled what? together? Victory in Jesus. 00:03:07.35\00:03:11.19 Let's sing this song together. 00:03:11.22\00:03:12.55 I heard an old, old story, how the Savior came from glory. 00:03:19.56\00:03:27.37 How He gave His life on Calvary to save a wretch like me. 00:03:27.40\00:03:34.84 I heard about His groaning, of His precious blood's atoning. 00:03:34.88\00:03:42.05 Then I repented of my sin and won the victory. 00:03:42.08\00:03:49.89 Oh victory in Jesus, my Savior forever. 00:03:49.92\00:03:57.43 He sought me, and bought me with His redeeming blood. 00:03:57.47\00:04:04.94 He loved me ere I knew Him, and all my love is due Him. 00:04:04.97\00:04:12.25 He plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing flood. 00:04:12.28\00:04:20.06 I heard about a mansion He has built for me in glory, 00:04:20.09\00:04:27.60 and I heard about the streets of gold beyond the crystal sea, 00:04:27.63\00:04:35.07 about the angels singing, and the old redemption story, 00:04:35.10\00:04:42.51 and some sweet day I'll sing up there the song of victory. 00:04:42.54\00:04:49.38 Key change. Oh victory in Jesus, my Savior forever. 00:04:49.42\00:04:58.03 He sought me and bought me with His redeeming blood. 00:04:58.06\00:05:05.40 He loved me ere I knew Him, and all my love is due Him. 00:05:05.43\00:05:12.94 He plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing flood. 00:05:12.97\00:05:30.69 Amen! Now repeat the title with me. 00:05:30.73\00:05:34.00 It's on the board. The Truth About the Christian Obligation. 00:05:34.03\00:05:39.93 Today I received a phone call, and it is from the company that 00:05:39.97\00:05:46.47 provides us the extended warranty for our car. 00:05:46.51\00:05:51.78 When we bought our vehicle we decided... 00:05:51.81\00:05:54.38 Well, you know, they give you, as many of you might know, 00:05:54.42\00:05:57.19 if you purchase a vehicle they give you what they call 00:05:57.22\00:05:59.45 a 100,000 mile power train warranty, 00:05:59.49\00:06:03.32 or some companies 50,000 miles. 00:06:03.36\00:06:05.66 Well, the power train is from the engine all the way to the 00:06:05.69\00:06:09.60 wheels; that crank shaft, and all the things connected there. 00:06:09.63\00:06:13.94 And in many cases nothing goes wrong with that. 00:06:13.97\00:06:17.97 And so you have a warranty that they'll say, 100,000 miles or 00:06:18.01\00:06:22.71 4 years, whichever comes first. 00:06:22.74\00:06:24.88 I don't know how many people do a 100,000 in 4 years, 00:06:24.91\00:06:29.28 but the 100,000 mile warranty for the power train. 00:06:29.32\00:06:33.39 But many of you know that things that often go wrong 00:06:33.42\00:06:36.93 in your car, if it's going to happen, it's going to go wrong 00:06:36.96\00:06:39.89 in the first 3 to 4 years. 00:06:39.93\00:06:41.40 And if... What's the rule they call it? 00:06:41.43\00:06:45.10 The law, Murphy's law? 00:06:45.13\00:06:48.20 I don't know what that means. 00:06:48.27\00:06:49.90 But we've associated that with if something's going to 00:06:49.94\00:06:54.34 go wrong, it's going to go wrong according to Murphy's law. 00:06:54.38\00:06:57.08 Who is Murphy? I don't know how that came about. 00:06:57.11\00:06:59.68 But usually we say, Okay, well if things go wrong in today's 00:06:59.71\00:07:03.39 cars, a lot of electronic things could happen. 00:07:03.42\00:07:07.02 You know, the GPS could stop working. 00:07:07.06\00:07:09.42 And we can't, like in the past, pull our car side like back in 00:07:09.46\00:07:14.46 the 80's, Bob, right? when you could just take a little voltage 00:07:14.50\00:07:19.63 tester and test the wires. 00:07:19.67\00:07:21.14 To me, nowadays everything is so electronic. 00:07:21.17\00:07:23.57 So the guy called me and said, What I wanted to inform you is 00:07:23.61\00:07:27.21 the benefits of your warranty is about to expire; the benefits. 00:07:27.24\00:07:35.38 And I said, No, it's not about to expire. 00:07:35.42\00:07:39.25 He said, Well, this is the last notice. 00:07:39.29\00:07:41.29 We've called you many times and told you 00:07:41.32\00:07:43.26 it's about to expire. 00:07:43.29\00:07:44.83 I said, No, it's not about to expire. 00:07:44.86\00:07:47.53 Hold on please for our service manager. 00:07:47.56\00:07:50.37 Okay. The service manager comes on. 00:07:50.40\00:07:52.87 Sir, we want to tell you that you're about to lose all the 00:07:52.90\00:07:56.27 benefits to the warranty that came with your car. 00:07:56.30\00:07:59.01 I said, No, I purchased the extended warranty. 00:07:59.04\00:08:02.21 Oh! The service person didn't tell me that. 00:08:02.24\00:08:05.61 Well, Sir, we'll take you off of our list. 00:08:05.65\00:08:07.85 We won't bother you any longer. 00:08:07.88\00:08:09.22 Now, they said that before, but they have called me over, 00:08:09.25\00:08:14.92 and over, and over, and over again to sell me a new 00:08:14.96\00:08:17.53 warranty for more benefits. 00:08:17.56\00:08:19.66 And who doesn't want benefits? 00:08:19.69\00:08:21.16 I mean how many of you don't want benefits? 00:08:21.20\00:08:22.53 Really, when you think about your job, when you think about 00:08:22.56\00:08:25.47 your job you're often, Well, what are the benefits? 00:08:25.50\00:08:27.07 What are the health benefits? 00:08:27.10\00:08:28.44 What are my vacation benefits? 00:08:28.47\00:08:29.94 In Europe it's better than here. 00:08:29.97\00:08:31.41 Some people say in Europe you get four weeks 00:08:31.44\00:08:33.17 vacation the first year. 00:08:33.21\00:08:34.54 In America one week. 00:08:34.58\00:08:36.38 You've got to work hard to get two weeks, and four, 00:08:36.41\00:08:39.41 well, after about ten years. 00:08:39.45\00:08:40.92 The benefits; we think of the benefits. 00:08:40.95\00:08:43.95 Now, if the benefits, if you change the word benefits 00:08:43.99\00:08:49.29 to obligation, you'll say to your employer, 00:08:49.32\00:08:52.13 You are obliged to give me X amount of weeks 00:08:52.16\00:08:55.46 a year for vacation. 00:08:55.50\00:08:56.83 You are obliged to fix my car because I purchased it from you. 00:08:56.87\00:08:59.73 You are obliged to cover me with health care 00:08:59.77\00:09:03.51 because I work for you. 00:09:03.54\00:09:04.87 And in America right now there are lots of obligations. 00:09:04.91\00:09:07.88 Now the lesson entitled, The Christian Obligation, 00:09:07.91\00:09:10.55 to me is better termed, Christian Benefits. 00:09:10.58\00:09:14.65 So let's go to Psalms 116. 00:09:14.68\00:09:16.85 This has been my springboard text. 00:09:16.89\00:09:19.15 And what's wonderful about this text is it puts the word 00:09:19.19\00:09:24.46 obligation in the better category. 00:09:24.49\00:09:26.70 Now, going back to my original story that I began with about 00:09:26.73\00:09:29.93 the extended warranty on my vehicle. 00:09:29.96\00:09:32.23 When I go to the manufacturer, or to the Toyota particularly, 00:09:32.27\00:09:36.44 or specifically, and my service intervals come up, 00:09:36.47\00:09:40.58 I am so happy when I go to the service counter to say, 00:09:40.61\00:09:45.55 I have the extended warranty. 00:09:45.58\00:09:47.38 Do you know what that means? 00:09:47.42\00:09:48.82 That translates into me paying how much? zero. 00:09:48.85\00:09:52.92 And, you know, it's so, Oh, okay, great! 00:09:52.95\00:09:57.03 Well, you know, we'll also wash your car for you. 00:09:57.06\00:10:00.36 There's some extended benefits. 00:10:00.40\00:10:02.66 Is there any place you want to go? 00:10:02.70\00:10:04.10 They treat you with kid gloves. 00:10:04.13\00:10:05.93 Kind of nice. Because I don't know of any car manufacturer 00:10:05.97\00:10:09.00 that doesn't want to make money. 00:10:09.04\00:10:10.54 And then some people say, Don't buy the warranty. 00:10:10.57\00:10:13.61 You know what happens when you don't buy the warranty? 00:10:13.64\00:10:15.54 Murphy's law kicks in! 00:10:15.58\00:10:18.01 And something goes wrong and they say, Well, Sir, we told you 00:10:18.05\00:10:20.98 about the warranty. 00:10:21.02\00:10:22.35 I don't know, that's just how it seems to work. 00:10:22.38\00:10:23.72 So this text, when we think of our relationship with Jesus, 00:10:23.75\00:10:28.82 Jesus didn't really have to come to save us. 00:10:28.86\00:10:34.70 He came to save us because He blanks us; because He what? 00:10:34.73\00:10:38.83 because He loves us. 00:10:38.87\00:10:40.34 And so when you think of all that the Lord has done for us, 00:10:40.37\00:10:43.44 this text jumps into my mind when I think about it. 00:10:43.47\00:10:46.91 Oh, I told you guys to turn to Psalm 116, didn't I? 00:10:46.94\00:10:49.78 And I didn't even turn there. 00:10:49.81\00:10:52.05 Here I am. And let's look at verse 12, 00:10:52.08\00:10:55.18 and let's read this together. 00:10:55.22\00:10:56.55 What a beautiful passage. 00:10:56.58\00:10:57.92 Alright? The Psalmist writes, What shall I render to the Lord 00:10:57.95\00:11:03.76 for all His what? benefits toward me. 00:11:03.79\00:11:08.30 When you think of benefits, I mean how many 00:11:08.33\00:11:11.73 benefits can you think of? 00:11:11.77\00:11:13.10 I'm going to open it up a little bit, because I don't 00:11:13.13\00:11:14.84 give you guys an opportunity to talk too much. 00:11:14.87\00:11:16.94 How many benefit... What benefit can you think of 00:11:16.97\00:11:18.87 when it comes to Jesus? 00:11:18.91\00:11:20.24 What, what benefit comes to your mind? 00:11:20.28\00:11:21.61 Health, what else? Peace, what else? 00:11:21.64\00:11:25.71 Eternal life, the greatest of benefits. 00:11:25.75\00:11:28.38 What else? protection. 00:11:28.42\00:11:31.29 What else? Well, Angie said health. 00:11:31.32\00:11:36.26 Huh? Wisdom. Karen said peace. 00:11:36.29\00:11:41.66 Peace again. Knowledge, hope, faith, strength. 00:11:41.70\00:11:47.94 Does He provide all of our need? 00:11:47.97\00:11:49.84 Does He promise to do that? 00:11:49.87\00:11:51.21 He provides all of our need. 00:11:51.24\00:11:52.91 Ah, what else? What about His love for us? 00:11:52.94\00:11:56.14 Do you thank God for His patience? 00:11:56.18\00:11:59.75 Is that a good benefit? 00:11:59.78\00:12:01.42 Do you thank Him for His forgiveness? 00:12:01.45\00:12:03.59 Is that a benefit? Do you thank Him for answered prayer? 00:12:03.62\00:12:06.69 Is that a benefit? So when you think about this 00:12:06.72\00:12:09.09 you can go on and on. 00:12:09.12\00:12:10.46 Do you thank God for His grace? 00:12:10.49\00:12:11.83 What about His grace? 00:12:11.86\00:12:13.29 Do we need grace? Yes. 00:12:13.33\00:12:14.76 What about His salvation? Huh? 00:12:14.80\00:12:18.97 What about His forgiveness? 00:12:19.00\00:12:21.10 Think of... His kindness. 00:12:21.14\00:12:23.10 When you think about all the benefits, has the Lord ever sent 00:12:23.17\00:12:29.94 you an e-mail when you asked Him to forgive you 00:12:29.98\00:12:32.15 with the two letters NO? 00:12:32.21\00:12:34.18 Have you ever done that? No. 00:12:34.22\00:12:36.12 So when you think of all the Lord is willing to do for us, 00:12:36.15\00:12:39.92 this is a very good question. 00:12:39.95\00:12:42.26 And notice, this is a question. 00:12:42.29\00:12:44.53 But, David said, What, what shall I render to the Lord 00:12:44.56\00:12:50.87 for all His benefits toward me? 00:12:50.90\00:12:54.40 But often times the Christian life is lived out of, 00:12:54.47\00:13:00.41 What must I do? You know the rich young ruler, 00:13:00.44\00:13:02.91 what did he ask Jesus? 00:13:02.94\00:13:04.28 What did he ask Jesus? 00:13:04.31\00:13:05.65 What must I do to have eternal life? 00:13:05.68\00:13:09.98 What do I have to do? 00:13:10.02\00:13:11.35 And sometimes we give our lives to the Lord by saying, 00:13:11.39\00:13:13.86 What do I have to do to become a member of your church? 00:13:13.89\00:13:16.83 What do I have to do? 00:13:16.86\00:13:18.63 The Lord has done more than we can ever do. 00:13:20.66\00:13:24.07 What do you say? Amen! 00:13:24.10\00:13:25.60 And so as we look at this topic tonight, what we're going to 00:13:25.63\00:13:28.17 talk about tonight are the benefits, 00:13:28.20\00:13:31.87 but also the empowerment. 00:13:31.91\00:13:34.61 Because when the Lord says, Okay, here's what I'd like 00:13:34.64\00:13:39.75 you to do for Me, Bob, Karen, Brother Hutchinson, or Janeck. 00:13:39.78\00:13:43.85 Here's what I'd like you to do for Me. 00:13:43.89\00:13:45.75 The beauty of the Lord is He doesn't just request of us, 00:13:45.79\00:13:50.43 in response to our question, but He also does something else. 00:13:50.46\00:13:54.26 Let's go to question #13. 00:13:54.30\00:13:55.83 There's something else He does. 00:13:55.86\00:13:57.27 And I believe, it is my firm belief that tonight 00:13:57.30\00:14:01.67 we will finish this lesson. 00:14:01.70\00:14:04.31 Go to Question #13. 00:14:04.34\00:14:06.84 Here it is; look at this. 00:14:06.88\00:14:08.21 And we're talking about the benefits of God, 00:14:08.24\00:14:11.38 but let's look at the context of the question. 00:14:11.41\00:14:12.98 Alright? And we are going to one of the books that 00:14:25.13\00:14:28.86 many of us know... 00:14:28.93\00:14:30.27 Well, Philippians actually is one of my favorite books in the 00:14:30.30\00:14:33.54 Bible, because I call it the Olympic, or the athletes book. 00:14:33.57\00:14:39.51 It's a book that is filled with so many of 00:14:39.54\00:14:41.98 the promises we claim. 00:14:42.01\00:14:43.35 That's your book? The athletes book. 00:14:43.38\00:14:46.21 It's filled with so many promises. 00:14:46.25\00:14:49.05 Huh? Isaiah. Oh Isaiah is filled with promises. 00:14:49.08\00:14:53.96 Well, let's look at Philippians 4:13. 00:14:53.99\00:14:56.29 And since it's the first one of our texts tonight, 00:14:56.32\00:14:58.69 you can read it along together with us. 00:14:58.76\00:15:00.20 We might hear you if you speak loud enough, or loudly enough. 00:15:00.23\00:15:03.47 Here it is: Philippians 4:13. Together, it says: 00:15:03.53\00:15:06.40 Do you know that... Let's put that down. 00:15:14.64\00:15:16.81 So is it really possible to keep the commandments of God? 00:15:16.85\00:15:19.45 How do we keep it? Say it again: through Christ. 00:15:19.48\00:15:24.55 It would be terrible, Karen, if He said, Keep My commandments. 00:15:24.59\00:15:30.23 But I don't know how you're going to do it. 00:15:30.26\00:15:33.09 Look at John 14:15. This is the... this is... 00:15:33.16\00:15:35.96 Look at John 14:15. 00:15:36.00\00:15:37.33 He says, Keep My commandments. 00:15:37.37\00:15:39.00 But I don't know how you're going to do it. 00:15:39.03\00:15:42.40 He says, Keep it, and then I provide you the strength, 00:15:42.44\00:15:45.57 and the power to be able to accomplish it. 00:15:45.61\00:15:49.41 John 14:15 would be a pretty mean text if this 00:15:49.44\00:15:53.15 Philippians 4:13 did not also support what Jesus makes the 00:15:53.18\00:15:59.89 statement about in John 14:15. 00:15:59.92\00:16:03.69 If you love Me, what? keep My commandments. 00:16:03.73\00:16:09.90 And the commandments are not multiple choice. 00:16:11.57\00:16:13.94 They're not selective. 00:16:13.97\00:16:15.80 If you love Me, keep My commandments. 00:16:16.60\00:16:18.57 And then we might ask the question, How, Lord? 00:16:18.61\00:16:21.48 Have you looked at the commandments; 00:16:21.51\00:16:23.18 how restrictive they are sometimes? 00:16:23.21\00:16:24.81 How specific they are? 00:16:24.85\00:16:27.38 How empowering they are? 00:16:27.42\00:16:29.88 And, you know, somebody once talked about the 00:16:29.92\00:16:32.29 ten commandments as the ten promises, 00:16:32.32\00:16:34.16 because the ten commandments are not just thou shall not's. 00:16:34.19\00:16:36.96 But on the heel of the thou shall not, a blessing comes. 00:16:37.96\00:16:40.36 Look at the blessing. 00:16:40.40\00:16:43.06 The verse that's right after John 14:15: This is the blessing 00:16:43.10\00:16:46.67 if we keep His commandments. 00:16:46.70\00:16:48.04 Now this is huge because when you read this text you'll see 00:16:48.07\00:16:51.27 that there's something Jesus would not do unless we are 00:16:51.31\00:16:55.21 open and honest in obedience to His commandments. 00:16:55.24\00:16:59.45 Notice what He says in verse 16. 00:16:59.48\00:17:00.82 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another helper, 00:17:00.85\00:17:06.12 or Comforter, that He may abide with you for how long? forever. 00:17:06.15\00:17:11.63 Who is this Comforter? even the Spirit of truth, whom the world 00:17:11.66\00:17:17.10 cannot receive, because he neither sees Him, 00:17:17.13\00:17:21.14 nor knows Him, but you know Him for He dwells with you, 00:17:21.17\00:17:27.31 and will be in you. 00:17:27.34\00:17:28.94 Notice, notice the inflection; notice the way that Jesus talks 00:17:28.98\00:17:34.48 about the Holy Spirit. 00:17:34.52\00:17:35.85 Look at verse 16. Whom even the Spirit of Truth, whom the world 00:17:35.88\00:17:41.22 cannot receive because it neither sees, notice, Him, 00:17:41.26\00:17:45.36 nor knows Him, but you know Him, for He dwells with you, 00:17:45.39\00:17:49.43 and will be in you. 00:17:49.46\00:17:50.80 Him, Him, Him, Him, He; all capitalized. 00:17:50.83\00:17:55.14 Speaking of the Holy Spirit as an actual person of the Godhead. 00:17:55.20\00:17:58.61 That's a whole nother topic. 00:17:58.64\00:17:59.97 I did one on the Holy Spirit, but that's a whole nother topic, 00:18:00.01\00:18:02.44 because today there's some people that are struggling as to 00:18:02.48\00:18:05.55 whether or not the Holy Spirit is a real person of the Godhead. 00:18:05.58\00:18:08.38 Is He just a force? 00:18:08.42\00:18:09.95 Shall the force be with you, or is He an actual 00:18:09.98\00:18:13.25 person of the Godhead? 00:18:13.32\00:18:14.66 Well, He is an actual person of the Godhead. Amen? 00:18:14.69\00:18:17.19 Now, but He is a Spirit. 00:18:17.23\00:18:20.53 And that's something that many of us, we can't equate the two, 00:18:20.60\00:18:23.37 because we think of an actual person of the Godhead 00:18:23.40\00:18:25.50 with flesh and bones. 00:18:25.53\00:18:27.14 But look at John 4. Let's go there. 00:18:27.17\00:18:29.17 Look at John 4; just giving you a little bit of extra knowledge. 00:18:29.20\00:18:34.68 Now, let me ask you a question. 00:18:35.71\00:18:37.98 Does God have flesh and bones? 00:18:38.01\00:18:40.78 Will we see God's face one day? 00:18:40.82\00:18:43.55 Okay, so that means He does have physical features, right? 00:18:43.59\00:18:49.09 Don't be... right? Okay, okay. 00:18:49.99\00:18:53.40 Just want to see if you are with me. 00:18:53.43\00:18:55.03 Look at John 4. Now the Holy Spirit is the One who abides 00:18:55.06\00:19:00.90 with you, and will be with you always. 00:19:00.94\00:19:02.37 But notice John 4. Alright? 00:19:02.40\00:19:05.41 Look at verse 24. What are the first three words? 00:19:05.44\00:19:12.18 God is what? God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must 00:19:12.21\00:19:16.92 worship Him in what? Spirit, and what? truth. 00:19:16.95\00:19:19.82 Is God Spirit? Yes. Oh, I just wanted to make sure; 00:19:19.85\00:19:23.19 Holy Spirit, God is Spirit. 00:19:23.22\00:19:24.99 Do we see God? Do we see the Holy Spirit? 00:19:25.03\00:19:28.53 We see the work. We see the work. 00:19:28.56\00:19:30.87 Jesus became flesh and dwelt among us. 00:19:30.90\00:19:37.31 See, if He became flesh, He became the human flesh that 00:19:37.34\00:19:42.61 we have, so that He could overcome sin as we 00:19:42.64\00:19:45.81 would by the same power. 00:19:45.85\00:19:47.22 Little digression, but just want to give you 00:19:47.25\00:19:49.38 that additional information. 00:19:49.42\00:19:50.95 So can we really keep the commandments of God? yes or no? 00:19:50.99\00:19:54.72 Yes! And how do we do it? 00:19:54.76\00:19:56.66 We do it through Christ. 00:19:56.69\00:19:58.46 Let's go to the next one. 00:19:58.49\00:20:00.30 #14, #14. This is a very interesting one. 00:20:00.33\00:20:07.64 And the question is: 00:20:07.67\00:20:09.00 And, you know, this sounds crazy, but I was talking to a 00:20:18.21\00:20:22.55 young lady recently, and she was told in so many ways, 00:20:22.58\00:20:27.79 when she discovered the truth about the Sabbath. 00:20:27.82\00:20:32.36 She asked her clergy, Well, why don't we honor the Sabbath? 00:20:32.39\00:20:37.73 And his immediate response was, It was just for the Jews. 00:20:37.77\00:20:42.00 And she hadn't studied the Bible enough to 00:20:42.04\00:20:44.24 know, No, no it's not! 00:20:44.27\00:20:45.77 And so this is one of the excuses that Christians often 00:20:45.81\00:20:49.21 get when they are confronted with keeping the commandments 00:20:49.24\00:20:52.71 of God, or more particularly, keeping the Sabbath. 00:20:52.75\00:20:54.78 So the answer is, if we do honor our Christian obligation, 00:20:54.82\00:21:00.29 we shouldn't just not lie, steal, commit adultery, 00:21:00.32\00:21:03.32 bear false witness, dishonor our parents. 00:21:03.36\00:21:06.96 We shouldn't just not do those things, but we should also 00:21:07.00\00:21:09.83 honor the Sabbath of the Lord. 00:21:09.86\00:21:11.20 Isn't that right? But let's look at this. 00:21:11.23\00:21:12.87 Aren't the ten commandments just for the Jews? 00:21:12.93\00:21:16.30 Let's go to 1 Corinthians 7:19, 1 Corinthians 7, and let's look 00:21:16.34\00:21:21.84 together at verse 19. 00:21:21.88\00:21:24.21 Very interesting! Okay, here I am. 00:21:24.25\00:21:28.45 The Corinthian church, shortly after the death and ascension 00:21:31.39\00:21:38.26 of Jesus, or the resurrection and ascension of Jesus, 00:21:38.29\00:21:40.80 the issue continued. 00:21:40.83\00:21:42.16 The Jews continued to impose upon others, even after the 00:21:42.20\00:21:46.27 ceremonial system had come to its end, the Jews continued to 00:21:46.30\00:21:49.67 impose on others the necessity, they believed, 00:21:49.70\00:21:53.91 of keeping the commandments of God. 00:21:53.94\00:21:56.41 But they also enjoined with that, 00:21:56.44\00:21:58.88 You've got to be circumcised. 00:21:58.91\00:22:01.05 But look at what the Bible says. 00:22:01.08\00:22:03.12 The Apostle Paul responds to the Corinthians believers by 00:22:03.15\00:22:06.59 saying the following. Here it is. He said, 00:22:06.62\00:22:09.36 So how many of us... 00:22:19.90\00:22:22.60 Well, let's go to Romans 13 now. 00:22:22.64\00:22:26.68 Go with me to Romans. 00:22:26.71\00:22:28.04 Let me make sure. Good. 00:22:28.08\00:22:29.41 Romans 13. Okay, here we are. 00:22:29.44\00:22:34.48 So the answer to this one: Aren't the ten 00:22:34.52\00:22:36.85 commandments just for the Jews? 00:22:36.89\00:22:38.29 What's the answer? Yes or No? 00:22:38.32\00:22:39.65 No, just put no. Wow, Romans 13. 00:22:39.69\00:22:45.03 I want to show you another one, too. 00:22:45.06\00:22:47.10 Let's start with Romans 13. 00:22:47.13\00:22:48.86 Okay, here we are. And here it is. 00:22:48.90\00:22:54.84 Verse 8, verse 8. We read in Romans: Owe no one anything, 00:22:54.87\00:23:02.78 except to love one another. 00:23:02.81\00:23:04.31 For he who loves another has done what? fulfilled the law. 00:23:04.35\00:23:09.32 Notice this, four of the commandments: you shall not 00:23:09.35\00:23:14.06 commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, 00:23:14.09\00:23:17.83 you shall not bear false witness, you shall not covet. 00:23:17.86\00:23:21.23 And if there's any other commandment, are all summed up 00:23:21.26\00:23:24.47 in this saying, namely, you shall, together, love your 00:23:24.50\00:23:29.14 neighbor as yourself. 00:23:29.17\00:23:32.94 Notice, notice what comes there also, not just the benefits that 00:23:32.97\00:23:37.01 we receive from God, but if we have love for our neighbors, 00:23:37.05\00:23:40.42 then it says to us, I can't do that. 00:23:40.45\00:23:44.62 If we love someone more than we love... 00:23:44.65\00:23:46.55 Okay, well, let's put this the way the Bible puts it. 00:23:46.59\00:23:50.99 If we love someone as much as we love ourselves; 00:23:51.03\00:23:53.73 love your neighbor as yourself. 00:23:53.76\00:23:58.17 If you love somebody as much as you love yourself, 00:23:58.20\00:24:03.00 you would not want the tables to be turned, 00:24:03.04\00:24:05.47 and to do harm to your neighbor. 00:24:05.51\00:24:07.41 Because you wouldn't want your neighbor to do harm to you. 00:24:07.44\00:24:10.11 Often times we live on the opposite side of the table. 00:24:10.15\00:24:12.75 We often live where we feel the right to maybe harm someone, 00:24:12.78\00:24:16.75 but would not want them to do the same to us. 00:24:16.79\00:24:19.09 So when the Bible says, Love your neighbor as yourself... 00:24:19.15\00:24:21.42 And look at verse 10, it says, Love does no harm to a neighbor. 00:24:21.46\00:24:25.33 Therefore, love is the what? fulfillment of the law. 00:24:25.36\00:24:31.13 Which means if I love someone that means 00:24:31.17\00:24:34.37 I'm going to uphold it. 00:24:34.40\00:24:35.74 If I love someone I'm going to uphold it. 00:24:35.77\00:24:38.17 Am I going to destroy it? 00:24:38.21\00:24:39.54 I'm going to uphold it. 00:24:40.41\00:24:41.74 And the word fulfill, it simply means to accomplish the task. 00:24:41.78\00:24:47.25 When you love someone you don't say, Well now, let me see, 00:24:47.28\00:24:50.22 Brother Hutchinson, which one? 00:24:50.25\00:24:51.95 Should I covet, or should I kill, 00:24:52.52\00:24:54.59 or should I lie about him today? 00:24:54.62\00:24:56.62 Oh well, let me see, which one is worse? 00:24:56.66\00:24:58.09 Well, I won't do those, but... 00:24:58.13\00:24:59.63 You know, we don't do that. 00:24:59.66\00:25:01.10 We don't think of any of those when we love a person. 00:25:01.13\00:25:04.17 Oh, I couldn't do that. 00:25:04.20\00:25:05.73 Because we are now looking through the window of LOVE, 00:25:05.80\00:25:08.77 which is what? love. 00:25:08.80\00:25:10.57 And then if the Lord is in our heart, 00:25:10.61\00:25:12.17 once again the text applies. 00:25:12.21\00:25:14.41 I can do all things through who? Christ, who does what? 00:25:14.44\00:25:18.01 strengthens me, because I'll be honest with you, 00:25:18.05\00:25:19.91 do you ever feel like... I won't use that term. 00:25:19.95\00:25:25.79 Do you ever feel like getting back at somebody? 00:25:25.82\00:25:27.66 Okay, no response required. 00:25:29.99\00:25:31.66 No one wants to indite themselves here. 00:25:31.69\00:25:33.80 But in the human sense, depending on how we might be 00:25:33.83\00:25:37.97 injured, whether emotionally or mentally, or somebody might take 00:25:38.00\00:25:41.04 something that doesn't belong to them, that we find out about. 00:25:41.07\00:25:43.00 Sometimes in the human sense, sometimes we feel, Oh, now that 00:25:43.04\00:25:47.84 I know who did it, you wait! 00:25:47.88\00:25:50.18 And we want to get back. 00:25:50.25\00:25:52.45 But, if we temper that response by remembering that the tables 00:25:52.48\00:25:58.55 could turn any day. 00:25:58.59\00:25:59.92 But for the grace of God, the tables can turn any day. 00:25:59.95\00:26:03.22 So we have to remember that keeping the commandments of God 00:26:03.26\00:26:07.40 is the most important thing. 00:26:07.43\00:26:08.80 It is what matters. 00:26:08.83\00:26:10.17 And all of that could be done in a response of 00:26:10.20\00:26:13.07 love to our neighbors. 00:26:13.10\00:26:14.44 Now, I said in Romans, right? 00:26:14.47\00:26:17.11 Let's go to Romans 3. 00:26:17.14\00:26:19.17 Let's see why it's important for all of us to keep 00:26:21.38\00:26:24.68 the commandments of God, as we know that it's 00:26:24.71\00:26:27.05 not just for the Jews. 00:26:27.08\00:26:28.42 Okay, Romans 3:23, Romans 3:23. 00:26:28.45\00:26:35.82 Matter of fact, yeah Romans 3: 23. 00:26:35.86\00:26:43.23 Let's look at this. 00:26:43.26\00:26:44.60 We're going to start there. 00:26:44.63\00:26:45.97 For all have what? sinned and fall what? 00:26:46.00\00:26:50.21 short of the glory of God. 00:26:51.04\00:26:53.94 Look down to verse 29. 00:26:53.98\00:26:56.78 Let's pull out a couple of passages here. 00:26:56.81\00:26:59.05 Or is He the God of the Jews only? 00:26:59.08\00:27:02.62 Is He not the God of the Gentiles? Yes, 00:27:02.65\00:27:07.42 of the Gentiles also. 00:27:07.46\00:27:10.13 And then you go down to verse 31. 00:27:10.16\00:27:12.33 Do we then make void the law through faith? 00:27:12.36\00:27:16.73 And what is the answer? certainly not! 00:27:16.77\00:27:19.77 On the contrary, we what? establish. 00:27:19.80\00:27:22.60 Another word for fulfill is establish. 00:27:22.67\00:27:25.41 When you establish a residence, what do you do? 00:27:25.44\00:27:28.21 There's another phrase we use in America. 00:27:28.24\00:27:30.38 We settle in. What's another? 00:27:30.41\00:27:32.58 What's below to the trees? 00:27:32.61\00:27:34.68 What at the... We put down our roots when we establish. 00:27:34.75\00:27:38.75 When we establish a business... 00:27:38.79\00:27:40.52 We're going to be here for a long time. 00:27:40.56\00:27:43.32 The word establish has longevity connected to it. 00:27:43.39\00:27:46.29 When we establish a relationship instead of just selling 00:27:46.33\00:27:49.66 something, people that are very good at business they say, 00:27:49.70\00:27:53.00 I'm not just into selling you a product, 00:27:53.03\00:27:54.77 I want to establish a relationship. 00:27:54.80\00:27:56.44 And that relationship then breeds trust, and it breeds 00:27:56.50\00:28:01.78 a long term business connection. 00:28:01.81\00:28:05.55 When we establish God's law, through love, there's a trust 00:28:05.58\00:28:10.89 factor that goes along with it. 00:28:10.92\00:28:12.35 The benefits that God has established toward us is 00:28:12.39\00:28:16.96 returned now out of loving service to the Lord, 00:28:16.99\00:28:19.43 and then also to those around us. 00:28:19.46\00:28:21.13 So when we think about this, the reason why the commandments 00:28:21.16\00:28:25.53 are not just for the Jews, is because God is not just the God 00:28:25.57\00:28:29.04 of the Jews, but of the Gentiles also, which is us, which is us. 00:28:29.07\00:28:36.44 Amen to that? Amen! 00:28:36.48\00:28:37.85 I've never... I don't think I have Jewish roots, but by faith 00:28:37.88\00:28:41.58 I'm an heir according to the promise. 00:28:41.65\00:28:43.95 By faith I am an heir according to the promise. 00:28:43.99\00:28:47.22 Now I kind of gave you #15, so let's go ahead 00:28:47.26\00:28:50.49 and read it anyhow. Okay #15. 00:28:50.53\00:28:53.33 I put an S on there, but I should have taken that off. 00:29:03.34\00:29:07.88 That's okay. Does it excuse us from honoring God's law? 00:29:07.91\00:29:12.45 And what's the answer? No. 00:29:12.48\00:29:14.78 I kind of gave you that one ahead of time. 00:29:14.82\00:29:17.09 Because the Bible says, Do we make void the law through faith? 00:29:17.12\00:29:20.89 And the answer is, Certainly not! 00:29:20.92\00:29:23.19 So instead of putting down no, what are you going to put down? 00:29:23.22\00:29:26.49 Instead of putting the answer no, what should you put down? 00:29:26.53\00:29:29.76 Certainly not! Okay. 00:29:29.80\00:29:32.33 Put down certainly not. 00:29:32.37\00:29:34.84 Do we make void the law through faith? 00:29:34.87\00:29:37.74 Another phrase in the King James Version, God forbid! 00:29:37.77\00:29:42.51 That, you know, that sounds so final: God forbid! 00:29:42.54\00:29:47.25 We don't speak that way anymore, but we do sometimes. 00:29:47.28\00:29:51.92 God forbid if that would happen to me. 00:29:51.95\00:29:54.19 We fault... But that's the context in which we use that. 00:29:54.22\00:29:56.42 What we mean is, Hope that will never happen to us. 00:29:56.46\00:29:59.49 But the response to this is in a faith based relationship 00:29:59.53\00:30:03.26 we should never look for reasons to ignore God's law. 00:30:03.30\00:30:06.20 So the Apostle Paul says, God forbid! Certainly not! 00:30:06.23\00:30:09.90 How could we do that when we think of all the benefits 00:30:09.94\00:30:13.11 that the Lord has extended towards us? 00:30:13.14\00:30:15.51 Now when you think about benefit relationships, 00:30:15.54\00:30:19.28 does anybody want a relationship with benefits? 00:30:19.31\00:30:22.95 Huh? Right? Can you imagine you having a relationship, 00:30:22.98\00:30:27.99 and somebody said, Now, I'm your friend, 00:30:28.02\00:30:29.46 but don't ever ask me for anything. 00:30:29.49\00:30:30.83 Can you imagine that? 00:30:30.86\00:30:32.66 Wouldn't that be horrible? 00:30:32.69\00:30:34.46 Ah, hey Terry, I need help. My car broke down. 00:30:34.50\00:30:38.10 Call somebody else. 00:30:38.13\00:30:39.63 But aren't we friends? 00:30:39.70\00:30:41.14 We're just friends in name only. 00:30:41.17\00:30:43.97 Would you do that? No, not at all. 00:30:44.01\00:30:46.81 We are not islands. 00:30:46.84\00:30:49.14 God has given us the context to to the word koinonia 00:30:49.18\00:30:52.25 there is fellowship. 00:30:52.31\00:30:53.65 We have fellowship with one another. 00:30:53.68\00:30:55.22 And fellowship brings into the circle a Christian obligation. 00:30:55.25\00:30:59.55 So what is our obligation? 00:30:59.59\00:31:01.49 What's the first highest priority of our obligation? 00:31:01.52\00:31:04.36 Romans 13:8, I just said. 00:31:06.63\00:31:08.53 Owe no one anything except to what? love one another. 00:31:08.56\00:31:13.87 The highest obligation is what? love. 00:31:13.90\00:31:17.57 Now for somebody to say, Janeck, I love you, 00:31:17.61\00:31:19.54 but don't ever ask me for anything. 00:31:19.57\00:31:21.71 That's not really a love relationship. 00:31:21.74\00:31:23.78 Jesus brought that out in the illustration. 00:31:23.81\00:31:26.75 He says, If your neighbor asks for a fish, 00:31:26.78\00:31:29.68 would you give him a stone? No. 00:31:29.75\00:31:33.25 So if we, being evil... 00:31:34.42\00:31:37.19 Look at that. If we, being evil, know how to give good gifts, 00:31:37.23\00:31:41.83 how much more would our Heavenly Father give the 00:31:41.86\00:31:44.93 Holy Spirit to those who ask? 00:31:44.97\00:31:47.04 But now, are you ready for the conditions of the Holy Spirit? 00:31:47.07\00:31:50.51 Go with me to the book of Acts. 00:31:50.54\00:31:52.07 There are conditions to everything. 00:31:52.11\00:31:54.54 Don't you think so? 00:31:54.58\00:31:56.64 Any of you have children? 00:31:56.68\00:31:58.81 If you have children that are acting up, and they come and 00:31:59.75\00:32:02.05 ask for the car keys, are you going to give it to them? Huh? 00:32:02.08\00:32:06.32 Okay. I didn't think so. 00:32:06.35\00:32:08.99 Nah, if they're acting up, not if they have a mishap, 00:32:10.49\00:32:13.96 but they're acting up. We're all human. 00:32:14.00\00:32:16.63 Okay, Acts 5, and I want us to look at verses 29 and 32. 00:32:17.20\00:32:24.04 Acts 5:29, 32. Okay, okay, let's look at that. 00:32:24.07\00:32:35.55 Obviously this is after the apostles are freed from prison, 00:32:39.65\00:32:42.26 and they are brought before a point of strict investigation. 00:32:42.29\00:32:47.16 Verse 29, Then Peter and the other apostles answered and 00:32:47.20\00:32:50.33 said,... together... We ought to obey God rather than men. 00:32:50.37\00:32:56.50 In other words, let's bring this down to our topic. 00:32:56.54\00:32:59.37 Our obligation is to who? God, first, above man. 00:32:59.41\00:33:05.78 So if it came down to who do I listen to, man or God? 00:33:05.81\00:33:12.19 What should our answer be? God. 00:33:12.22\00:33:14.52 Our obligation is to Him first. 00:33:14.56\00:33:16.79 Love the Lord your God with how much of your heart? 00:33:16.83\00:33:19.26 all your heart. But now let's look at the condition. 00:33:19.29\00:33:21.70 Because I brought it into context; 00:33:21.73\00:33:23.26 I brought into the scenario the Holy Spirit. 00:33:23.30\00:33:25.77 How many of us need the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives? 00:33:25.80\00:33:28.04 We all do, but there is a condition to it. 00:33:28.07\00:33:30.11 You see, let's... Let me lay the foundation before I 00:33:30.14\00:33:32.51 turn you to the verse. 00:33:32.54\00:33:33.88 The Lord does not give anything to anyone who doesn't see the 00:33:33.91\00:33:38.65 obligation of honoring Him, of listening to Him. 00:33:38.68\00:33:43.32 It's like a child come to the parent and say, 00:33:43.35\00:33:47.96 I need the car keys, Bob. 00:33:47.99\00:33:50.33 You need the car keys? 00:33:52.79\00:33:54.13 As many things as I've asked you to do, you've done none of 00:33:54.16\00:33:56.73 them, and you need the car keys? 00:33:56.77\00:33:58.17 Here's 45 cents; take the local bus, or find another way. 00:33:58.20\00:34:04.34 You don't ask for benefits on the heels of disobedience. 00:34:04.37\00:34:08.54 Same thing with God. 00:34:08.58\00:34:10.05 Look at verse 32, Acts 5:32. 00:34:10.11\00:34:13.58 And we are His witnesses... the Bible says... to these things, 00:34:13.62\00:34:18.35 and so also is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those 00:34:18.39\00:34:26.39 who do what? obey Him. 00:34:26.46\00:34:29.46 Another word for obey is obligation. 00:34:29.50\00:34:32.57 You see, when we honor our obligation to God, 00:34:32.60\00:34:36.00 He can trust us with the power of the Holy Spirit. 00:34:36.07\00:34:40.58 By the way, we don't use the Holy Spirit, 00:34:40.61\00:34:43.48 the Holy Spirit uses us, but we make ourselves 00:34:43.51\00:34:45.88 available to the Holy Spirit. 00:34:45.91\00:34:47.32 But we're asking God, Lord, I need Your Holy Spirit. 00:34:47.35\00:34:50.35 He says, Ah, it comes to those who are obedient. 00:34:50.39\00:34:54.49 I'm not going to put you into that realm of 00:34:54.52\00:34:57.39 availability of power. 00:34:57.43\00:34:58.89 Remember the story in the book of Acts also where one of the 00:34:58.93\00:35:03.33 locals saw the power of the Holy Spirit as active through 00:35:03.37\00:35:07.74 the apostles lives, and he tried to get that power? 00:35:07.77\00:35:11.21 And what happened to him? 00:35:11.24\00:35:12.67 Well, the Devil got him instead; stripped him, ran out into the 00:35:12.71\00:35:17.78 street out of his mind, because he was not obedient; 00:35:17.81\00:35:20.85 he was not an obedient servant of God. 00:35:20.88\00:35:22.72 God does not give to those who disobey Him such connection. 00:35:22.75\00:35:26.32 And the Holy Spirit is power. 00:35:26.35\00:35:28.06 Matter of fact, without the Holy Spirit you 00:35:28.12\00:35:29.56 really can't do anything. 00:35:29.59\00:35:30.93 Acts 1:8 says, After the Spirit comes upon you, you shall, 00:35:30.96\00:35:35.60 after you receive the power, then you'll be witnesses. 00:35:35.63\00:35:38.60 You cannot do anything without the power of God's Holy Spirit. 00:35:38.63\00:35:42.34 Go to #16, #16. Let's go to #16. 00:35:42.37\00:35:47.41 And here's the question: 00:35:47.44\00:35:48.78 How do we know that? 00:35:57.72\00:35:59.09 Another statement's made, and if you haven't caught the fabric 00:35:59.12\00:36:03.39 of this lesson yet, this lesson is actually designed to dispel 00:36:03.43\00:36:07.66 many of the myths told about the commandments of God, 00:36:07.70\00:36:11.23 many of the myths told about the commandments of God. 00:36:11.27\00:36:14.87 We're going to go to Matthew 5 to find our answer. 00:36:14.90\00:36:18.17 Alright? How do we know that the commandments of God 00:36:18.21\00:36:24.41 are still in force? Here we are. 00:36:24.45\00:36:27.62 Matthew 5, let's begin with verse 17, the words of Jesus. 00:36:28.92\00:36:32.39 Here's what He said: 00:36:32.42\00:36:33.96 Now this verse is often misunderstood. 00:37:27.74\00:37:29.64 Now notice... Let's go back to that in pieces. 00:37:29.68\00:37:32.55 Did Jesus come to destroy the law? No. 00:37:32.61\00:37:36.85 Matter of fact, let's go to Isaiah, Isaiah. 00:37:36.89\00:37:44.79 Okay, Isaiah 42:21. Thank You, Lord. 00:37:49.30\00:37:51.70 That's what happens when you're in a Bible Study like this. 00:37:51.73\00:37:54.67 The Lord brings those texts right back to my mind; 00:37:54.70\00:37:57.37 brought it right back. 00:37:57.41\00:37:58.74 Look at Isaiah 42. Jesus fulfilled this verse in this 00:37:58.77\00:38:04.58 statement: He fulfilled Isaiah 42:21, and Matthew 5:17-19. 00:38:04.61\00:38:10.55 Notice what the Bible says in Isaiah 42:21: The Lord is well 00:38:10.59\00:38:16.49 pleased for His righteousness sake. 00:38:16.52\00:38:20.60 He will, what's the next word? exalt, or magnify the law 00:38:20.63\00:38:27.57 and make it honorable. 00:38:27.60\00:38:28.97 Now I'm going to take both of those words. 00:38:29.00\00:38:30.64 The King James Version says exalt, 00:38:30.67\00:38:32.81 the New King James says magnify. 00:38:32.84\00:38:34.91 When you exalt something, you lift it up 00:38:34.94\00:38:38.15 above the crowd, right? 00:38:38.18\00:38:41.48 When you magnify you amplify, you make it a larger focus. 00:38:41.52\00:38:46.22 I was thinking about bringing my flashlight. I didn't do that. 00:38:46.25\00:38:49.62 But, magnifying... It's like, well, you can see part of my 00:38:49.66\00:38:52.99 shirt, but now I'm going to show you the whole shirt. 00:38:53.03\00:38:55.50 I just magnified the color green. 00:38:55.53\00:38:57.93 See, by magnify. See, some people look at the law of God, 00:38:58.00\00:39:01.77 they see, Ah. they see part of it. 00:39:01.80\00:39:03.14 But then the Lord says... He comes and shows 00:39:03.17\00:39:04.51 them the whole thing. 00:39:04.54\00:39:05.87 And what He actually did by magnifying the law, 00:39:05.91\00:39:07.24 here's what He did: you see, the Jews used to believe that 00:39:07.28\00:39:12.08 you could only violate, Thou shalt not kill by actually 00:39:12.11\00:39:15.52 taking somebody's life. 00:39:15.55\00:39:17.45 How did He magnify it? 00:39:17.49\00:39:19.35 Somebody tell me. He said, Even if you're angry, 00:39:19.39\00:39:23.83 without a cause; if you're angry, or you hate a person, 00:39:23.86\00:39:29.63 it's as though you have done what? 00:39:29.66\00:39:32.03 as though you've murdered them. 00:39:32.07\00:39:33.87 But He also went to the other side. 00:39:33.90\00:39:35.64 If you look at a woman to do what? lust, then He says you 00:39:35.67\00:39:40.04 have done what in your heart already? 00:39:40.08\00:39:41.41 you've committed adultery. 00:39:41.44\00:39:42.78 So He says, Am I making it easier, 00:39:42.81\00:39:44.81 or am I making it more difficult? 00:39:44.88\00:39:46.82 Right, it shows the broadness; He's not narrowing it down, 00:39:46.85\00:39:52.19 He's broadening it by saying, Hey this... 00:39:52.22\00:39:54.29 And let's look at something else. 00:39:54.32\00:39:55.66 Let's go to some of the other commandments. 00:39:55.69\00:39:57.03 Thou shall not covet. 00:39:57.06\00:39:58.39 Let's look at that one. 00:39:58.43\00:39:59.83 By the way, I believe that the tenth commandment, Thou shall 00:39:59.89\00:40:02.86 not covet, is the foundation of all the other nine. 00:40:02.90\00:40:05.73 Because if you covet another god, then you will have 00:40:07.60\00:40:10.67 another god before Him. 00:40:10.71\00:40:12.04 If you covet another day, then you have another 00:40:12.07\00:40:14.48 day above the Sabbath. 00:40:14.51\00:40:15.88 And you'll see the coveting of other things leads you to 00:40:15.91\00:40:19.71 other areas that violate the other nine commandments. 00:40:19.75\00:40:22.72 Well, let's look at the coveting. 00:40:22.75\00:40:24.09 If you see something that doesn't belong to you, and you 00:40:24.12\00:40:31.33 become covetous, you're saying in your heart, Oh, if I... 00:40:31.36\00:40:35.26 You know, I have things... 00:40:35.30\00:40:36.63 I'll just tell you this little story. 00:40:36.67\00:40:38.00 I have things around my house that I have not been 00:40:38.03\00:40:41.30 able to find for years. 00:40:41.34\00:40:43.00 And I've said to my wife, Honey, it was right here. 00:40:43.04\00:40:47.44 It was right here. I know it was right here. 00:40:47.48\00:40:53.85 Huh? Famous last words. 00:40:56.52\00:40:59.15 Now there's something that I have been looking for 00:40:59.19\00:41:01.89 for the last ten years, and I have not found it. 00:41:01.92\00:41:03.93 So I said, okay, following that very train of thought I said, 00:41:03.96\00:41:07.26 Okay, well maybe, maybe I did move it. 00:41:07.30\00:41:10.53 Maybe I did move it. 00:41:10.57\00:41:12.10 But then I started looking everywhere. 00:41:12.13\00:41:14.04 And my wife knows... 00:41:14.07\00:41:15.40 Honey, can I look real well? 00:41:15.44\00:41:16.77 She says, If it's in this house, I'll find it. 00:41:18.27\00:41:21.78 And I want to tell you, this is a broadcast, 00:41:21.81\00:41:25.28 I haven't found it. 00:41:25.31\00:41:27.32 So you know what I've thought to myself? 00:41:27.38\00:41:29.35 Maybe somebody wanted it. 00:41:29.38\00:41:31.95 Maybe somebody took it. 00:41:31.99\00:41:34.46 And usually, when I can't find something, I say to my wife, 00:41:34.49\00:41:38.66 Honey, it's not here. 00:41:38.69\00:41:40.03 You sure you didn't leave it at work? 00:41:40.06\00:41:42.36 Let me go check. And she finds it on her desk at work, 00:41:42.40\00:41:45.27 or in her car, or someplace else. 00:41:45.30\00:41:47.70 Because once she said, It was right... 00:41:47.74\00:41:49.74 I said, Now honey, if it was here, what? You'll find it. 00:41:49.77\00:41:54.61 When it's not there what happens is in the covetous spirit... 00:41:54.64\00:41:58.38 See here at 3ABN, Praise the Lord, we don't have to deal 00:41:58.41\00:42:00.82 with that issue, because for the most part we've had people 00:42:00.85\00:42:03.18 come visit here at 3ABN, and people have said, Ah, well,... 00:42:03.22\00:42:07.29 They come to do a program, or they put their purse down, 00:42:07.32\00:42:10.69 or their wallet down, or their phone down. 00:42:10.73\00:42:13.19 I said, Don't worry about it. 00:42:13.23\00:42:14.56 It will be there when you come back. 00:42:14.60\00:42:16.03 Nobody's going to mess with it. 00:42:16.06\00:42:17.53 Don't worry about it. 00:42:17.57\00:42:18.90 And, you know what? Praise the Lord, we don't have 00:42:18.93\00:42:20.34 that problem here, Amen? 00:42:20.37\00:42:22.14 People are very trustworthy. 00:42:22.17\00:42:23.74 They'll sometimes return... 00:42:23.77\00:42:25.11 Pastor, somebody left it. 00:42:25.14\00:42:26.47 Oh, okay. And we'll find out what the name is in the wallet, 00:42:26.51\00:42:29.98 and call them with the purse or the Bible. 00:42:30.01\00:42:31.75 The one thing, the one thing that has been the most difficult 00:42:31.78\00:42:36.08 for people to come back and claim is their Bible. 00:42:36.12\00:42:39.22 People often say, I missed my purse, I lost my phone, 00:42:39.25\00:42:42.02 I can't find my wallet, but very few people come back 00:42:42.06\00:42:44.79 and say... And we have a lot of Bibles that are unclaimed. 00:42:44.83\00:42:48.73 And I thought, Wow, they'll come back and claim their 00:42:48.76\00:42:51.60 phone, but they won't come back and claim their Bible. 00:42:51.63\00:42:54.40 It's an amazing thing. 00:42:54.47\00:42:56.07 It talks about... Huh? 00:42:56.10\00:42:57.61 They're embarrassed because they lost their sword. 00:42:57.64\00:42:59.27 Or they're out there without a sword. 00:42:59.31\00:43:01.14 Embarrassed because they lost their sword. 00:43:01.18\00:43:02.91 I remember losing my Bible, and it was the most horrible 00:43:02.94\00:43:05.21 experience I ever had. 00:43:05.25\00:43:06.58 Losing my Bible was the most horrible experience I ever had. 00:43:06.61\00:43:09.75 Left it at a church; couldn't find it. 00:43:09.78\00:43:12.35 And I was miserable till it arrived. 00:43:12.39\00:43:14.92 That's when I was in the Heritage Singers. 00:43:14.96\00:43:16.83 They sent it to me Federal Express. 00:43:16.86\00:43:18.33 They said, It will be there by Monday. 00:43:18.36\00:43:19.76 When the Bible arrived at the ranch where we lived in 00:43:19.79\00:43:23.80 Placerville, California, and Federal Express rang the 00:43:23.83\00:43:26.20 doorbell and gave the Bible to me, everybody cheered! 00:43:26.23\00:43:29.10 Yeah! John is happy again! 00:43:29.14\00:43:31.54 He's got his Bible. 00:43:31.57\00:43:32.94 I don't know how people could have missed their Bible 00:43:32.97\00:43:35.61 and not feel this loss of connection to their Bible. 00:43:35.64\00:43:38.51 But, however we got to that story out of this text is... 00:43:38.55\00:43:41.38 I don't know, but I think about magnifying some... 00:43:41.42\00:43:45.05 Things that are important to us we magnify them. 00:43:45.12\00:43:48.72 Isn't that right? If it's important 00:43:48.76\00:43:50.39 to us we talk about it. 00:43:50.43\00:43:52.16 We give a lot of focus to it. 00:43:52.19\00:43:53.53 God's law is important to Him. 00:43:53.56\00:43:55.86 That's why we magnify the Lord, and we magnify His law. 00:43:55.90\00:44:01.30 Let's go to #17. So the answer is, How do we know that the 00:44:01.34\00:44:06.71 commandments of God are still in force? 00:44:06.74\00:44:08.61 He didn't do away with them. 00:44:08.64\00:44:10.08 He said, I will not! 00:44:10.11\00:44:11.51 I did not come to destroy. 00:44:11.55\00:44:13.21 He did not destroy them. 00:44:13.25\00:44:15.18 He would not destroy them. 00:44:15.22\00:44:17.62 I did not come to destroy. 00:44:17.65\00:44:19.95 I came to magnify. I came to magnify. 00:44:19.99\00:44:23.86 And I thank the Lord He didn't come to destroy them, 00:44:25.76\00:44:27.76 because can you imagine the world today if in fact God's 00:44:27.80\00:44:30.60 law was thrown out? 00:44:30.63\00:44:31.97 What foundation would we have for our government? 00:44:32.00\00:44:34.24 Because in America many of our laws are based on the judicial 00:44:34.30\00:44:39.47 integrity of the commandments of God. 00:44:39.51\00:44:41.24 Whether a person is atheist, agnostic, or of another 00:44:41.28\00:44:45.81 religion, right now in America the commandments of God 00:44:45.85\00:44:49.62 are the force of most of our laws: 00:44:49.65\00:44:52.59 the ten commandments of God. 00:44:52.62\00:44:55.69 Even atheists wouldn't want you to steal something from them. 00:44:55.72\00:45:00.50 Isn't that funny? Why would an atheist want us 00:45:00.53\00:45:03.57 to steal something? 00:45:03.60\00:45:04.93 Who said not... Thou shall not steal? 00:45:04.97\00:45:06.87 Well, they know it's a wrong thing, but why? 00:45:06.90\00:45:09.87 Because God says it. 00:45:09.90\00:45:11.24 Alright, let's look at #17. 00:45:11.27\00:45:13.68 What? #17, here it is. 00:45:13.71\00:45:16.18 Luke 16:17, Luke 16:17. 00:45:25.85\00:45:32.76 Wow! Luke 16:17. You know, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John 00:45:34.33\00:45:40.64 they approach the subjects from different perspectives. 00:45:40.67\00:45:45.04 This is a very interesting perspective. 00:45:45.07\00:45:47.91 Alright, here I am in Luke. 00:45:47.94\00:45:51.38 Okay here it is. And the Bible reads: 00:45:53.85\00:45:59.15 Do you know what a tittle is? 00:46:10.13\00:46:11.63 It's that little, we think of it as the top of the T, the tittle. 00:46:11.70\00:46:20.94 Jot, dot, tittle, the top of the T. 00:46:21.94\00:46:26.75 It's easier for the dots to all disappear, and the tops of the 00:46:26.78\00:46:31.15 T's to be wiped out, than for one, 00:46:31.19\00:46:33.92 than for the law of God to fail. 00:46:33.96\00:46:38.16 Can the law of God fail? 00:46:38.19\00:46:40.06 No, it will never fail. 00:46:40.10\00:46:41.90 So it can't even... It could be ignored, 00:46:41.93\00:46:44.67 but it cannot be violated any more than the law 00:46:44.70\00:46:47.74 of gravity can be violated. 00:46:47.80\00:46:50.47 You cannot violate something whose force is connected to 00:46:50.51\00:46:55.88 that which is eternal, or the One that is eternal. 00:46:55.91\00:46:58.98 Is God eternal? Yes. 00:46:59.01\00:47:00.55 Is His law eternal? 00:47:00.58\00:47:02.08 Because it is a reflection of the character of God. 00:47:02.12\00:47:05.29 And you can no more get rid of the law of God, 00:47:05.32\00:47:07.66 than you can get rid of God Himself. 00:47:07.69\00:47:11.76 #18, let's go to #18. 00:47:11.79\00:47:14.73 I actually used the word here, I actually used the word here. 00:47:16.77\00:47:22.44 Okay, let's look at this here. 00:47:22.47\00:47:23.94 What benefit, okay? 00:47:37.22\00:47:40.79 Psalm 112:1-3. Okay. 00:47:40.82\00:47:51.43 I still have in the back of one of my old Bibles where I sat 00:47:53.23\00:47:57.24 down one Sabbath afternoon, before I even discovered the 00:47:57.27\00:48:00.78 Cruden's Concordance, and wrote down every text that found in 00:48:00.81\00:48:03.95 the Old Testament about the commandments. 00:48:03.98\00:48:05.55 Okay, Psalm 112:1-3. Here it is, here it is: 00:48:07.05\00:48:11.65 Isn't that a blessing? 00:48:46.12\00:48:48.09 Go with me to Psalm 1. 00:48:48.12\00:48:50.03 That's a blessing of the Lord. 00:48:50.06\00:48:51.39 It says, If you are obedient you are blessed. 00:48:51.43\00:48:54.16 Your descendants will be mighty on the earth. 00:48:54.20\00:48:57.40 The generation of the upright will be blessed. 00:48:57.43\00:49:00.34 Everyone that comes after you will be blessed. 00:49:00.37\00:49:03.24 Did I say Psalm 1? Psalm 1, okay. 00:49:03.30\00:49:06.24 Let's go to Psalm 1. 00:49:06.27\00:49:07.61 The first Psalm. Okay. 00:49:08.54\00:49:11.98 We are going to finish this. 00:49:16.08\00:49:17.42 We are going to finish this, yes we are. 00:49:17.45\00:49:19.29 Okay, look at Psalm 1. 00:49:19.32\00:49:21.32 Twenty-six verses; it starts with this, look. 00:49:21.36\00:49:24.63 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the 00:49:24.69\00:49:30.23 ungodly, nor stands in the path away of sinners, 00:49:30.27\00:49:34.27 nor sits in the seat of the scornful. 00:49:34.30\00:49:37.17 But look at verse 2. 00:49:37.21\00:49:39.01 But his delight is in the what? law of the Lord, 00:49:39.04\00:49:44.61 and in His law he does what? meditates day and night. 00:49:44.68\00:49:50.02 That means he ponders by talking to himself. 00:49:50.05\00:49:54.69 Isn't that amazing? 00:49:54.72\00:49:56.06 He meditates. Okay, okay... 00:49:56.09\00:49:58.09 People would think he's talking to him... 00:49:58.13\00:50:00.36 He's pondering; he's going over the beauty of the 00:50:00.40\00:50:03.37 commandments of God. 00:50:03.40\00:50:04.73 Look at the blessing, which comes on the heels of what 00:50:04.77\00:50:06.43 we just read in Psalm 112. 00:50:06.47\00:50:08.27 He shall be like a what? tree planted by the rivers of waters 00:50:08.30\00:50:12.77 that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also 00:50:12.84\00:50:17.28 shall not what? wither. 00:50:17.31\00:50:18.85 And whatever he does... together... shall prosper. 00:50:18.88\00:50:23.85 Do you want prosperity? follow God's law and prosperity surely, 00:50:23.89\00:50:27.92 according to God's word, will follow. 00:50:27.99\00:50:30.39 But now look at the contrast. 00:50:30.43\00:50:31.86 The ungodly are not so, but are like the chaff, 00:50:31.89\00:50:35.86 which the wind drives away. 00:50:35.90\00:50:38.13 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, 00:50:38.17\00:50:41.77 nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 00:50:41.80\00:50:45.57 For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of 00:50:45.61\00:50:48.54 the what? ungodly shall what? shall perish. 00:50:48.58\00:50:52.01 Look at the contrast. 00:50:52.08\00:50:53.42 The blessing that comes with obedience, and the curse that 00:50:53.45\00:50:56.62 comes with disobedience, they can't stand. 00:50:56.69\00:50:59.25 In other words, what the Bible means when it says they can't, 00:50:59.29\00:51:01.32 they cannot endure the investigation of God. 00:51:01.36\00:51:04.23 They can't make it through that. 00:51:04.26\00:51:05.79 Let's go to #19 now. 00:51:05.83\00:51:07.23 #19 the blessing that comes, you want to add 00:51:07.26\00:51:10.43 that additional Psalm 1. 00:51:10.47\00:51:12.53 Okay. So #18, what is the benefit that obedience 00:51:12.57\00:51:16.44 to the commandments of God brings? longevity and blessings, 00:51:16.47\00:51:20.14 family blessings, material blessings, 00:51:20.18\00:51:23.41 not just spiritual blessings. 00:51:23.45\00:51:25.38 He says your family will be blessed, your finances will be 00:51:25.41\00:51:28.88 blessed, your generations will be blessed. 00:51:28.92\00:51:31.75 If you want to pass down the legacy of righteousness, 00:51:31.79\00:51:34.22 to bless all those that come after you, be obedient to the 00:51:34.26\00:51:38.19 commandments of God. 00:51:38.23\00:51:39.56 He said that to Abraham. 00:51:41.33\00:51:42.66 If you'll be... Look, look at the stars of the... 00:51:42.70\00:51:44.83 That's how your generations are going to be. 00:51:44.87\00:51:46.70 And to this very day that is very true. #19, here it is: 00:51:46.74\00:51:50.71 Revelation 14:12, Revelation 14:12. 00:51:58.01\00:52:04.75 And to what category? 00:52:04.79\00:52:06.82 Can we find Revelation? 00:52:06.86\00:52:08.86 There it is. Okay, into what category? 00:52:10.93\00:52:14.66 I'd like us to read this together, since we all know 00:52:17.90\00:52:20.00 this is one of those clarion texts; one of those texts 00:52:20.04\00:52:23.27 that you cannot ignore. 00:52:23.30\00:52:24.77 Here it is, together: 00:52:24.81\00:52:26.27 Into what category does the Bible place those 00:52:37.65\00:52:39.75 that honor God's law? 00:52:39.79\00:52:41.12 What do we call? saints. 00:52:41.16\00:52:42.72 We used to be sinners, but praise God 00:52:42.76\00:52:45.86 we are now what? saints. 00:52:45.89\00:52:47.60 Can all the saints say Amen? Amen! 00:52:47.63\00:52:50.00 See, we say we're sinners, but the Lord said, Wait a minute! 00:52:50.07\00:52:53.54 That's how you were born, but when you're obedient I take the 00:52:53.60\00:52:57.07 SINN and places SAIN. 00:52:57.11\00:53:00.78 Isn't that wonderful? 00:53:00.81\00:53:02.14 I take away the SIN and put SAIN. 00:53:02.18\00:53:09.18 Now did you get that? 00:53:09.22\00:53:11.05 Look at the two: SIN. 00:53:11.09\00:53:12.89 He puts a letter between SIN, A, SAIN. 00:53:13.59\00:53:20.36 We become a part of the A team, because of the power that God 00:53:20.40\00:53:25.83 works through us to be obedient to His commandments. 00:53:25.90\00:53:28.17 It also puts us in the category of obedience. 00:53:28.20\00:53:31.24 Right! But we're obedient through His strength. 00:53:31.27\00:53:34.21 Ain't that right? We're not obedient in our own strength, 00:53:34.24\00:53:37.08 because we can do all things through Christ. 00:53:37.11\00:53:39.78 He's the One that empowers and makes us capable of obedience. 00:53:39.81\00:53:43.99 We cannot be obedient in our own strength. 00:53:44.05\00:53:46.05 And I want to go to the fifth, I want to go 00:53:46.09\00:53:48.06 to the last one here. 00:53:48.09\00:53:49.42 And let's look at this one. 00:53:49.46\00:53:51.89 #20, #20. I think God is happy. 00:53:51.93\00:53:56.40 I can hear Him. The Son of God is clapping outside. 00:53:56.43\00:53:58.77 I can hear Him out there saying, Yes! 00:53:59.60\00:54:01.84 He has a deep voice. 00:54:03.14\00:54:04.57 My mother used to say, Whenever you hear thunder, 00:54:05.77\00:54:07.74 God is moving His furniture around. 00:54:07.78\00:54:09.34 I didn't know that. I used to just run under the 00:54:09.38\00:54:12.98 table no matter what. 00:54:13.01\00:54:14.35 And I didn't like lightening, but now I could handle it. 00:54:16.69\00:54:20.02 My wife still calls me the cloud watcher, the cloud watcher. 00:54:20.06\00:54:23.36 Honey, we're in the Midwest; see those clouds? 00:54:23.39\00:54:25.89 Keep your eyes on the clouds. 00:54:25.93\00:54:28.66 Okay, here it is, #20. 00:54:28.70\00:54:32.70 What is it? Here it is: He says, 00:54:38.74\00:54:41.81 There are going to be a lot of folk in heaven 00:54:48.38\00:54:50.79 because they loved Jesus. 00:54:50.82\00:54:52.99 Notice, because they loved Jesus. 00:54:53.02\00:54:56.59 You've got to love Him before you keep His commandments. 00:54:56.62\00:55:00.50 Go quickly now to Isaiah. 00:55:00.53\00:55:03.03 I mean, sorry, to Exodus, Exodus. 00:55:03.06\00:55:06.20 Now we're going to look in the commandment itself. 00:55:06.23\00:55:09.94 We're going to look into the ten commandments themselves, 00:55:09.97\00:55:12.44 and see how this is amplified. 00:55:12.47\00:55:14.28 If you love Me, keep My commandments. 00:55:14.31\00:55:16.21 Look at this. Exodus 20. 00:55:16.24\00:55:21.68 Alright, and we're going to go ahead and look at verse 5. 00:55:21.75\00:55:30.83 Exodus 20:5, speaking of carved images, or graven images. 00:55:30.86\00:55:40.07 You shall not bow down to them, nor do what? serve them, 00:55:40.10\00:55:46.74 for I, the Lord your God am a what? jealous God, 00:55:46.78\00:55:52.38 visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children 00:55:52.41\00:55:57.09 to the third and fourth generation of those who do what? 00:55:57.12\00:56:01.72 Hey, notice the contrast? 00:56:01.76\00:56:03.76 If you love Me do what? keep My commandments. 00:56:03.79\00:56:06.39 But look at the contrast. 00:56:06.43\00:56:08.10 But showing mercy to thousands of those who do what? love Me 00:56:08.13\00:56:16.50 and what? keep My commandments. 00:56:16.54\00:56:18.47 That last part of verse 6 is almost identical to John 15. 00:56:18.51\00:56:21.88 If you love Me, do what? keep My commandments. 00:56:21.91\00:56:24.51 Who love Me and what? keep My commandments. 00:56:24.58\00:56:27.05 So this is not just a New Testament concept, 00:56:27.08\00:56:29.48 this is an Old... This is right in the commandments themselves. 00:56:29.52\00:56:32.15 Showing mercy to thousands of those who love Me 00:56:32.19\00:56:37.03 and keep My commandments. 00:56:37.06\00:56:38.39 So He says now, Jesus comes personified. 00:56:38.43\00:56:40.73 If you love Me, do what? Keep My commandments. 00:56:40.76\00:56:43.40 And sometimes people say, Well, that's a new, that's new. 00:56:43.47\00:56:46.33 No, it's not new. It was right in the commandments themselves. 00:56:46.40\00:56:49.64 Now let's look at the last part of it. 00:56:49.67\00:56:51.67 Go to Revelation 22, Revelation 22. 00:56:51.71\00:56:56.24 Revelation 22. Look at this. 00:57:03.45\00:57:05.65 This has got all capstone. 00:57:06.32\00:57:07.66 Revelation 22:14. Remember Psalm 1, Blessed is the man 00:57:07.69\00:57:11.43 that walketh, who meditates on God's law day and night. 00:57:11.46\00:57:14.66 Look at this one. If our obligation was ignored, 00:57:14.73\00:57:18.03 this would not be our benefit. 00:57:18.07\00:57:19.50 Blessed are those who do what? verse 14, do His commandments. 00:57:19.53\00:57:27.31 They are lived out in the Christian's life. 00:57:27.34\00:57:29.84 That they may have the right to the tree of life. 00:57:29.88\00:57:33.35 If you want to have the right one day? and may enter through 00:57:33.38\00:57:37.15 the gates what? into the city. 00:57:37.19\00:57:40.52 We've been singing about the city so long. 00:57:40.56\00:57:42.56 There's a land that is fairer than day. 00:57:42.59\00:57:44.59 We've been singing, In the sweet by and by. 00:57:44.63\00:57:46.46 We've been singing, Just over the mountain 00:57:46.49\00:57:48.26 in the promised land. 00:57:48.30\00:57:49.63 Friends, we all want to be in the promised land, 00:57:49.66\00:57:51.30 so if you love the Lord, your obligation to His commandments 00:57:51.33\00:57:55.57 would not be a burden. 00:57:55.60\00:57:56.94 The commandments are not burdensome. 00:57:56.97\00:57:58.67 But if it doesn't make sense, friend, continue by prayer, 00:57:58.71\00:58:01.84 studying God's word, and one day it will come 00:58:01.88\00:58:03.91 into A Sharper Focus. 00:58:03.95\00:58:05.78 God bless you. 00:58:05.81\00:58:07.15
