Amen. 00:05:31.13\00:05:32.46 Now the reason I say 00:05:32.49\00:05:33.90 that is because for those who don't know 00:05:33.93\00:05:37.60 what's going to happen in the future, 00:05:37.63\00:05:40.04 prophecy is a reliable timeline written by the hand of God 00:05:40.07\00:05:45.91 to remind us that the world 00:05:45.94\00:05:47.94 is not just gonna go on indefinitely. 00:05:47.98\00:05:50.95 Isaiah 49, the Lord says, 00:05:50.98\00:05:53.85 "Declaring the end from the beginning, 00:05:53.88\00:05:56.75 and from ancient times, things that are not yet done." 00:05:56.79\00:06:01.16 So prophecy is a reliable timeline. 00:06:01.19\00:06:03.36 When people ask whether or not the Bible is true, 00:06:03.39\00:06:06.39 I like to point them to prophecy. 00:06:06.43\00:06:08.30 Because prophecy has been predicted 00:06:08.33\00:06:11.63 as holy man of God's speak, 00:06:11.67\00:06:13.40 they were moved by the Holy Spirit 00:06:13.44\00:06:15.30 and they wrote the words of God faithfully. 00:06:15.34\00:06:17.71 And we can now look back on those prophecies 00:06:17.74\00:06:19.54 whether Daniel or Revelation, 00:06:19.57\00:06:21.41 whether Isaiah or Malachi, or Ezekiel, 00:06:21.44\00:06:25.15 or Isaiah, or Jeremiah, the list goes on and on, 00:06:25.18\00:06:27.78 there are many prophecies. 00:06:27.82\00:06:29.68 Now out of all the prophecies concerning nations rising, 00:06:29.72\00:06:34.86 kingdoms falling, 00:06:34.89\00:06:38.09 from one kingdom to the next, to the next, 00:06:38.13\00:06:40.56 one persecuting power to the next. 00:06:40.60\00:06:42.66 The most beautiful prophecies in the Bible are prophecies 00:06:42.70\00:06:45.77 that point to the life, the ministry, 00:06:45.80\00:06:49.60 matter of fact the birth, 00:06:49.64\00:06:51.07 the life, the ministry, the death, 00:06:51.11\00:06:53.94 and the resurrection of Jesus. 00:06:53.98\00:06:55.41 Amen? 00:06:55.44\00:06:56.78 And so those prophecies have all been fulfilled 00:06:56.81\00:06:59.21 and there are other prophecies 00:06:59.25\00:07:00.62 that are going to be fulfilled, yet. 00:07:00.65\00:07:02.58 And those are the ones pointing to the coming of our Lord. 00:07:02.62\00:07:05.55 So now between the... 00:07:05.59\00:07:06.92 Between Jesus leaving and Jesus coming back, 00:07:06.96\00:07:11.23 He says in Matthew 24. 00:07:11.26\00:07:13.13 "When all these things begin to come to pass, 00:07:13.16\00:07:16.46 then look up and lift up your head 00:07:16.50\00:07:18.17 because your redemption draws" Where? 00:07:18.20\00:07:20.97 "Draws near or draws nigh." 00:07:21.00\00:07:22.70 So prophecy is reliable. 00:07:22.74\00:07:24.44 Now this prophecy in particular 00:07:24.47\00:07:29.54 that we're gonna cover tonight in greater detail is about 00:07:29.58\00:07:32.28 the fourth kingdom of Daniel 7. 00:07:32.31\00:07:35.65 It's about what kingdom? 00:07:35.68\00:07:37.29 The fourth kingdom. 00:07:37.32\00:07:38.65 Now let's go very quickly 00:07:38.69\00:07:40.02 and we're gonna cover this in a very rapid review. 00:07:40.06\00:07:45.03 There are four world empires. 00:07:45.06\00:07:48.70 The first one is what? Babylon. 00:07:48.73\00:07:52.33 The next one is two powers together, Medo-Persia. 00:07:52.37\00:07:56.07 The third one is Greece. And the fourth is what? 00:07:56.10\00:07:59.74 Rome. 00:07:59.77\00:08:01.11 Now Rome is, as the Bible comes to clarify to us. 00:08:01.14\00:08:05.85 Go to Daniel 7. We're gonna just use... 00:08:05.88\00:08:09.58 We're gonna not bring on the screen question number 10. 00:08:09.62\00:08:12.52 But you'll see that Rome is the one, 00:08:12.55\00:08:16.26 is the only kingdom of the four 00:08:16.29\00:08:18.46 that don't have any earthly description. 00:08:18.49\00:08:20.80 Now let me... 00:08:20.83\00:08:22.16 The reason I tell you that is, 00:08:22.20\00:08:24.00 Babylon was defined as a golden kingdom 00:08:24.03\00:08:28.70 in Nebuchadnezzar's dream 00:08:28.74\00:08:30.44 and a lion in Daniel's dream. 00:08:30.47\00:08:32.74 How many have seen gold before? 00:08:32.77\00:08:35.08 How many have seen a lion before? 00:08:35.11\00:08:36.68 We could easily envision that. 00:08:36.71\00:08:38.21 It's a little more difficult to envision 00:08:38.25\00:08:39.78 a lion with eagle's wings. 00:08:39.81\00:08:41.22 We've never seen that. 00:08:41.25\00:08:42.58 But that just simply showed, 00:08:42.62\00:08:43.95 that just simply talked about the rapid concurring 00:08:43.99\00:08:47.42 and the power of the Babylonian Empire, 00:08:47.46\00:08:50.06 far reaching. 00:08:50.09\00:08:51.43 Eagle flies high 00:08:51.46\00:08:52.79 and the lion is the greatest of all the beasts. 00:08:52.83\00:08:55.96 That is up for some contention in some people's minds. 00:08:56.00\00:09:00.87 But the Babylonian Kingdom 00:09:00.90\00:09:04.01 was depicted by a lion and gold. 00:09:04.04\00:09:06.44 Then the Medo-Persian Empire is the... 00:09:06.47\00:09:08.38 What kingdom in the metal? 00:09:08.41\00:09:10.28 Silver. And what beast? 00:09:10.31\00:09:14.02 The bear. 00:09:14.05\00:09:15.38 And the Bible says, 00:09:15.42\00:09:16.75 "The bear with three ribs in its mouth." 00:09:16.79\00:09:19.35 And when the Medo-Persian Empire rose to prominence, 00:09:19.39\00:09:22.72 the three ribs indicated the three nations 00:09:22.76\00:09:25.19 they brought down to come into prominence. 00:09:25.23\00:09:28.20 Then you have the next kingdom, Alexander the Great. 00:09:28.23\00:09:33.94 He was the king of which empire? 00:09:33.97\00:09:36.67 The Grecian Empire. 00:09:36.71\00:09:38.17 This empire is depicted by a leopard with four heads 00:09:38.21\00:09:41.74 and how many wings? 00:09:41.78\00:09:43.11 Four wings. 00:09:43.14\00:09:44.48 And these four wings represent 00:09:44.51\00:09:47.42 when Alexander the Great died in his 30s. 00:09:47.45\00:09:50.39 The kingdom of Greece was broken up 00:09:50.42\00:09:52.15 under the reign of four generals, 00:09:52.19\00:09:54.52 Cassander, Lysimachus, Ptolemy, and Seleucus, 00:09:54.56\00:09:58.79 four generals, North, South, East, and West. 00:09:58.83\00:10:01.90 Now you know very well that the hardest thing to do 00:10:01.93\00:10:04.67 is have one company with four heads 00:10:04.70\00:10:07.64 because four heads have four different ideas. 00:10:07.67\00:10:10.01 And that was the beginning of the downfall 00:10:10.04\00:10:11.57 of the Grecian Empire, the dividing of that empire. 00:10:11.61\00:10:14.38 And then let's go to this. 00:10:14.41\00:10:15.74 Now you have the leopard with four heads and four wings, 00:10:15.78\00:10:18.18 depicted by the... 00:10:18.21\00:10:19.55 What metal? 00:10:19.58\00:10:22.05 Bronze or brass. 00:10:22.08\00:10:23.89 In the image of Daniel 2, it was the brass. 00:10:23.92\00:10:27.06 And brass is, brass is harder than silver, 00:10:27.09\00:10:30.63 silver is harder than gold, 00:10:30.66\00:10:32.69 what you'll discover is that metals are getting stronger 00:10:32.73\00:10:36.70 but they are becoming less valuable. 00:10:36.73\00:10:39.60 You find the beasts are transitioning 00:10:39.63\00:10:42.40 and then now we get to this fourth beast. 00:10:42.44\00:10:45.44 How does Daniel 2 described the legs 00:10:45.47\00:10:48.91 in the image of Daniel 2? 00:10:48.94\00:10:51.01 What kind of legs did he have? Iron. 00:10:51.05\00:10:52.95 Iron. 00:10:52.98\00:10:54.48 What kind of teeth 00:10:54.52\00:10:56.55 did the fourth beast of Daniel 7 have? 00:10:56.58\00:10:59.62 Iron. 00:10:59.65\00:11:00.99 Iron and iron, 00:11:01.02\00:11:03.02 and iron represents the fourth great kingdom. 00:11:03.06\00:11:06.80 But the Bible talked about the ruthless of this kingdom. 00:11:06.83\00:11:09.96 In the Bible, in describing this fourth beast 00:11:10.00\00:11:12.23 that represents Rome, it said, 00:11:12.27\00:11:15.44 "It is great and dreadful and terrible, 00:11:15.47\00:11:18.97 exceedingly strong with huge iron teeth." 00:11:19.01\00:11:25.38 I don't care what kind of animal you have. 00:11:25.41\00:11:26.75 If something like that is running after you, 00:11:26.78\00:11:28.15 your animal is gonna run with you. 00:11:28.18\00:11:30.62 I'll be honest with you. 00:11:30.65\00:11:32.09 Great, dreadful, terrible, having 10 horns. 00:11:32.12\00:11:36.62 Not two, not four, ten, great, dreadful, terrible. 00:11:36.66\00:11:40.96 And wherever it stamps, it breaks, it tramples, 00:11:41.00\00:11:44.17 it presses down the residue. 00:11:44.20\00:11:45.97 And the Bible says, 00:11:46.00\00:11:47.34 "This fourth beast will devour," 00:11:47.37\00:11:49.30 How much of the earth? 00:11:49.34\00:11:51.57 Say it together, how much of the earth? 00:11:51.61\00:11:53.34 "The whole earth." 00:11:53.38\00:11:54.71 So now, if there are only four kingdoms, 00:11:54.74\00:11:59.91 earthly kingdoms, the next kingdom, 00:11:59.95\00:12:02.72 if we talk about a kingdom coming next, 00:12:02.75\00:12:04.69 which kingdom... 00:12:04.72\00:12:06.05 Where will that last kingdom be from? 00:12:06.09\00:12:08.42 Somebody tell me. Heaven. 00:12:08.46\00:12:10.36 Say it again. Heaven. Heaven. 00:12:10.39\00:12:11.96 The only way that this last kingdom 00:12:11.99\00:12:14.40 is going to be taken out of commission, 00:12:14.43\00:12:16.73 it is going to be replaced by the heavenly kingdom. 00:12:16.77\00:12:19.50 And Daniel 2 talks about that. 00:12:19.53\00:12:21.20 The stone cut out with a man's hand struck the image 00:12:21.24\00:12:24.61 on the toes of iron and clay 00:12:24.64\00:12:26.34 and just blew it into smithereens 00:12:26.37\00:12:28.98 and this kingdom became... 00:12:29.01\00:12:30.45 This stone became a great kingdom, 00:12:30.48\00:12:32.45 great mountain filled the entire earth. 00:12:32.48\00:12:34.68 That is the establishment. 00:12:34.72\00:12:36.12 And then Daniel says, 00:12:36.15\00:12:37.49 "This kingdom will not be left to other men. 00:12:37.52\00:12:39.85 The Lord will establish this kingdom." 00:12:39.89\00:12:42.86 And of His kingdom, there shall be no end. 00:12:42.89\00:12:46.70 Amen to that? 00:12:46.73\00:12:48.06 So we have this fourth kingdom now, 00:12:48.10\00:12:49.43 but between the three empires that fell, you have Rome. 00:12:49.46\00:12:53.50 And now, friends, I hope you're ready tonight 00:12:53.54\00:12:55.90 because we're gonna talk about this beast, this iron, 00:12:55.94\00:13:00.38 this ruthless kingdom, 00:13:00.41\00:13:02.21 and how through prophecy and history, 00:13:02.24\00:13:06.08 this kingdom has proved to be ruthless. 00:13:06.11\00:13:08.78 Now go to Daniel 7. 00:13:08.82\00:13:10.15 I want to show you a couple of verses. 00:13:10.19\00:13:11.52 Daniel 7:20. 00:13:11.55\00:13:13.29 Look at Daniel 7:20. I want to show you something. 00:13:13.32\00:13:16.83 All right? And... 00:13:16.86\00:13:21.33 Let me just start with verse 19. 00:13:21.36\00:13:24.20 Daniel 7:19. 00:13:24.23\00:13:25.57 "Then I wished to know the truth 00:13:25.60\00:13:28.07 about the forth beast, which was..." 00:13:28.10\00:13:30.77 What is the next word, together? 00:13:30.81\00:13:32.81 "Different from all the others, exceedingly dreadful, 00:13:32.84\00:13:36.95 with its teeth of iron and its nails of bronze, 00:13:36.98\00:13:42.45 which devoured, broke in pieces, 00:13:42.48\00:13:46.29 and trampled the residue with its feet." 00:13:46.32\00:13:49.66 Ruthless power. 00:13:49.69\00:13:51.03 No power in antiquity withstood the power of Rome. 00:13:51.06\00:13:54.33 Matter of fact, just to give you 00:13:54.36\00:13:55.70 a few more facts about Rome, 00:13:55.73\00:13:57.30 Rome mastered the art of crucifixion 00:13:57.33\00:13:59.93 but the Medo-Persian Empire was the ones 00:13:59.97\00:14:01.84 that introduced crucifixion. 00:14:01.87\00:14:04.21 But Rome studied it from a medical point of view. 00:14:04.24\00:14:06.88 So by the time they came to crucify Christ, 00:14:06.91\00:14:08.98 so use crucifixion, they used it in a medical way 00:14:09.01\00:14:12.78 to extract the most pain 00:14:12.81\00:14:15.08 and to bring the most discomfort to its victims. 00:14:15.12\00:14:18.62 So they were ruthless in every particular, 00:14:18.65\00:14:21.59 no nation withstood the onslaught 00:14:21.62\00:14:23.89 and the advance of Rome. 00:14:23.93\00:14:25.26 Matter of fact, you know the phrase, 00:14:25.29\00:14:26.63 I've said this before but you can 00:14:26.66\00:14:28.00 finish the statement with me. 00:14:28.03\00:14:29.36 "All roads led to... 00:14:29.40\00:14:31.63 All roads led to Rome." 00:14:31.67\00:14:33.34 And today, I want to just put this in context. 00:14:33.37\00:14:36.50 Rome is still seeking to do the very same thing today. 00:14:36.54\00:14:41.34 This power that's still in existence, 00:14:41.38\00:14:43.65 once all nations to still beat a path to its door. 00:14:43.68\00:14:48.98 Although it's now not localized, 00:14:49.02\00:14:51.49 it's worldwide in its influence. 00:14:51.52\00:14:53.72 And it still wants the very same thing, 00:14:53.76\00:14:56.12 all nations to beat a path 00:14:56.16\00:14:58.53 both politically and religiously to its doors. 00:14:58.56\00:15:03.63 Let's look at something else in verse 20. 00:15:03.67\00:15:06.33 And it says, "And about the ten horns 00:15:06.37\00:15:07.94 that were on its head, 00:15:07.97\00:15:10.07 and about the other horn which came up, 00:15:10.11\00:15:14.51 before which three flee, 00:15:14.54\00:15:16.85 namely, that horn which had eyes 00:15:16.88\00:15:20.65 and a mouth which spoke" what, 00:15:20.68\00:15:23.12 "Pompous or blasphemous words." 00:15:23.15\00:15:25.79 Whose appearance was what? 00:15:25.82\00:15:27.72 "Greater than his fellows or more stout." 00:15:27.76\00:15:30.09 Some translations say more stout. 00:15:30.13\00:15:31.99 Which meant... 00:15:32.03\00:15:34.16 When it says more stout than his fellows are greater, 00:15:34.20\00:15:36.60 that means, there were ten horns there, 00:15:36.63\00:15:38.57 but when the three were removed, 00:15:38.60\00:15:41.34 when the three nations... 00:15:41.37\00:15:45.41 The Vandals, the Heruli, and the Ostrogoths. 00:15:45.44\00:15:48.28 Say that ten times, Ostrogoths. 00:15:48.31\00:15:50.75 I'll use the English version, Ostrogoths. 00:15:50.78\00:15:53.58 When they were removed, this nation 00:15:53.62\00:15:55.72 or this little horn that came up slowly 00:15:55.75\00:15:59.05 started growing in greater prominence 00:15:59.09\00:16:00.82 and then it passed all the other horns 00:16:00.86\00:16:04.19 that represented the other nations 00:16:04.23\00:16:05.69 that continue to exist. 00:16:05.73\00:16:07.73 And the other nations, they had names like 00:16:07.76\00:16:09.43 the Franks, the Lombards, the Saxons. 00:16:09.46\00:16:12.70 And so this little nation that came up 00:16:12.73\00:16:15.50 among the ten grow to be the holy Roman Empire, 00:16:15.54\00:16:21.01 growing up against above all the other nations 00:16:21.04\00:16:23.78 that surrounded it. 00:16:23.81\00:16:28.08 But now let's look at one more thing, verse 24. 00:16:28.12\00:16:33.09 "The ten horns are ten kings 00:16:33.12\00:16:37.19 which shall arise from this kingdom. 00:16:37.23\00:16:41.86 And another shall..." Do what? 00:16:41.90\00:16:44.47 "Rise after them. "He shall be..." 00:16:44.50\00:16:47.10 What's the next word? 00:16:47.14\00:16:48.47 "Different or diverse from the first ones and he shall do..." 00:16:48.50\00:16:51.67 What? "Subdue three kings." 00:16:51.71\00:16:55.01 That's the verse 24. 00:16:55.04\00:16:57.71 And we could look at verse 25 briefly, 00:16:57.75\00:16:59.65 but we'll go back to that in a moment. 00:16:59.68\00:17:01.05 So I want to just dive into... We ended... 00:17:01.08\00:17:03.28 We're gonna go to question number 11 00:17:03.32\00:17:05.09 and here it is on the screen. 00:17:05.12\00:17:07.06 The question we want to lead with tonight is, 00:17:07.09\00:17:09.69 "What are some of the claims made by Papal Rome?" 00:17:09.72\00:17:15.66 Now before we bring the answer on the screen, 00:17:15.70\00:17:17.40 let me just go ahead and make it clear. 00:17:17.43\00:17:19.23 Papal Rome as we studied last week 00:17:19.27\00:17:21.60 was the power that replaced Pagan Rome. 00:17:21.64\00:17:25.17 But in the transition... 00:17:25.21\00:17:26.54 And I'll show you a timeline tonight 00:17:26.57\00:17:27.98 to show you the transitional stages. 00:17:28.01\00:17:30.21 Between Pagan Rome, 168 B.C to 476 A.D, 00:17:30.25\00:17:35.28 between 476 A.D and 538 A.D, that was the... 00:17:35.32\00:17:39.25 that was what I would call the staggering period 00:17:39.29\00:17:41.69 between Pagan Rome 00:17:41.72\00:17:44.39 and Papal Rome rising to complete prominence 00:17:44.43\00:17:47.10 because they had opposition. 00:17:47.13\00:17:48.46 So that was the bridging time, 00:17:48.50\00:17:50.00 they had to get rid of the powers 00:17:50.03\00:17:51.37 that prevented them from rising to full Papal power, 00:17:51.40\00:17:55.70 where Pagan Rome was no longer recognized as the ruling, 00:17:55.74\00:17:59.94 the ruling, leading power over this Kingdom of Rome. 00:17:59.97\00:18:03.01 And it happened when Rome, Pagan Rome adopted a religion. 00:18:03.04\00:18:09.05 A religion that was simply Catholic. 00:18:09.08\00:18:12.19 When Rome adopted it, 00:18:12.22\00:18:14.12 it became the religion of Rome at the time, 00:18:14.16\00:18:17.19 the Church of Rome what was called. 00:18:17.23\00:18:18.93 Later on called "The Catholic Church." 00:18:18.96\00:18:20.70 And why Catholic? 00:18:20.73\00:18:22.06 The word Catholic means universal. 00:18:22.10\00:18:23.47 Let me make a point here 00:18:23.50\00:18:24.83 since I mentioned the word Catholic. 00:18:24.87\00:18:26.40 This message is not about Catholic people. 00:18:26.43\00:18:28.54 Can you all say amen to that? Amen. 00:18:28.57\00:18:30.51 No more than preaching about 00:18:30.54\00:18:32.34 the state the dead being people die. 00:18:32.37\00:18:34.08 It's not against... 00:18:34.11\00:18:35.44 Nothing we teach tonight is against Christians. 00:18:35.48\00:18:37.75 But we're speaking about systems 00:18:37.78\00:18:39.15 and the Lord wants you to know this 00:18:39.18\00:18:40.92 or else He would not have put it in His Word. 00:18:40.95\00:18:44.39 When Rome adopted a religion, 00:18:44.42\00:18:46.69 it gave that religion its authority. 00:18:46.72\00:18:49.72 Since Rome was a universal power, 00:18:49.76\00:18:51.63 all roads leading to it, 00:18:51.66\00:18:53.93 it gave the church the very same status 00:18:53.96\00:18:56.16 and to give it its status, 00:18:56.20\00:18:57.53 in the Latin the word "Catholico" or Catholic. 00:18:57.57\00:19:00.47 So Roman Catholicism united with its own church. 00:19:00.50\00:19:04.94 Now today represents a worldwide 00:19:04.97\00:19:07.68 and there is probably hardly any place on earth 00:19:07.71\00:19:10.05 that you can go 00:19:10.08\00:19:11.41 with the exception of Islamic countries, 00:19:11.45\00:19:13.38 that you don't find 00:19:13.42\00:19:14.75 the footprint of Rome somewhere. 00:19:14.78\00:19:16.35 However, Rome has a strong influence in the Islamic world 00:19:16.38\00:19:20.09 because of Fatima and Mary. 00:19:20.12\00:19:22.12 There's a unity there. 00:19:22.16\00:19:24.26 There's a sisterhood there, Fatima and Mary. 00:19:24.29\00:19:26.59 Matter of fact, Pope John Paul II 00:19:26.63\00:19:28.46 was the only pope ever invited 00:19:28.50\00:19:30.63 to speak at the mosque in Saudi Arabia, 00:19:30.67\00:19:33.57 the only non-Islamic speaker 00:19:33.60\00:19:36.34 that was invited there to speak at the mosque in Saudi Arabia. 00:19:36.37\00:19:39.64 So tonight, what we're gonna look at 00:19:39.67\00:19:41.64 are some of the claims made by Papal Rome today. 00:19:41.68\00:19:45.41 Now I got to give this some context. 00:19:45.45\00:19:47.55 I want to make sure that it's received well. 00:19:47.58\00:19:51.15 The heads of Pagan Rome, 00:19:51.19\00:19:53.72 all consider themselves to be kings. 00:19:53.76\00:19:57.69 So now they bring their church into existence, 00:19:57.73\00:20:00.06 they give it universal status. 00:20:00.10\00:20:02.60 And they gave its leaders the same status 00:20:02.63\00:20:05.33 that its Pagan leaders had, 00:20:05.37\00:20:08.14 universal and they set them up as kings. 00:20:08.17\00:20:11.64 Now they begin to adopt creeds that was simply transitioning 00:20:11.67\00:20:16.08 from dogmas and beliefs and paganism 00:20:16.11\00:20:19.38 that was simply introduced into Christianity. 00:20:19.41\00:20:21.85 And as some historians say, 00:20:21.88\00:20:24.39 "When the Church of Rome began to rise into prominence, 00:20:24.42\00:20:27.09 it was nothing more than baptized paganism." 00:20:27.12\00:20:31.49 It didn't change, 00:20:31.53\00:20:32.93 it just simply metamorphosized into a religious power. 00:20:32.96\00:20:36.67 That's why the Bible said, speaking of the fourth beast, 00:20:36.70\00:20:39.53 "It will be different from all the others. 00:20:39.57\00:20:41.57 It's religio-political." 00:20:41.60\00:20:44.87 So let's look at some of the claims. 00:20:44.91\00:20:46.27 And I want you to notice these claims very carefully 00:20:46.31\00:20:49.81 because I'm not just showing you claims 00:20:49.84\00:20:52.18 that are true about the Roman Church 00:20:52.21\00:20:54.88 but these claims are still true 00:20:54.92\00:20:57.09 and embraced by the Vatican Papal Rome today. 00:20:57.12\00:21:01.02 Look at this. 00:21:01.06\00:21:02.39 The claim of the pope, 00:21:02.42\00:21:03.76 the first one, here it is one the screen. 00:21:03.79\00:21:06.23 "The pope is of so great dignity 00:21:06.26\00:21:08.86 and so exalted that he is not a mere man, 00:21:08.90\00:21:13.50 but as it were God, and the vicar of God." 00:21:13.54\00:21:17.77 That's a claim made by the pope that exist today. 00:21:17.81\00:21:21.01 And here is how it happens. 00:21:21.04\00:21:22.38 He said, "Once you are elevated 00:21:22.41\00:21:24.51 from the status of a cardinal or a bishop to a pope, 00:21:24.55\00:21:28.35 now step into infallibility." 00:21:28.38\00:21:30.79 In Time magazine I have the article, 00:21:30.82\00:21:32.19 I got to bring that to the forefront. 00:21:32.22\00:21:33.59 They talked about the fact that... 00:21:33.62\00:21:36.66 And they show Pope Francis and they said, 00:21:36.69\00:21:41.40 "A man who cannot make mistakes." 00:21:41.43\00:21:45.73 Not, did not make mistakes, but he is beyond mistakes, 00:21:45.77\00:21:48.64 he cannot make mistakes. 00:21:48.67\00:21:50.01 I'll include that by the way in the next broadcast, 00:21:50.04\00:21:52.21 you'll see that article. 00:21:52.24\00:21:53.58 Right on the cover of Time Magazine, 00:21:53.61\00:21:55.38 "A man who cannot make mistakes." 00:21:55.41\00:21:58.31 Well, who's the only one that cannot make mistakes? 00:21:58.35\00:22:00.08 Somebody tell me. God. 00:22:00.12\00:22:01.45 God is the only one that cannot make a mistake, 00:22:01.48\00:22:03.75 only God has immortality, only God has insight 00:22:03.79\00:22:06.62 and perfection of that character, of that... 00:22:06.65\00:22:09.52 So he says, "He is not a mere man anymore, 00:22:09.56\00:22:12.99 but as it were the vicar." 00:22:13.03\00:22:14.60 In other words, the representative of God 00:22:14.63\00:22:17.63 or as it were God on earth. 00:22:17.67\00:22:20.10 That's why people feel to some degree 00:22:20.14\00:22:22.14 that if they confess... 00:22:22.17\00:22:24.34 Well, I want to be kind 00:22:24.37\00:22:25.71 in my presentation here tonight. 00:22:25.74\00:22:27.74 But I want to be clear. Can I be clear? 00:22:27.78\00:22:29.94 So I'm gonna try to communicate this factually 00:22:29.98\00:22:32.08 rather than making any statements 00:22:32.11\00:22:33.45 that might be offensive to someone. 00:22:33.48\00:22:35.42 But when you look at the power 00:22:35.45\00:22:37.19 that the world exudes toward any pope 00:22:37.22\00:22:40.86 or the Vatican City or anything happening. 00:22:40.89\00:22:43.46 For example, if there is a convention, 00:22:43.49\00:22:45.66 a Baptist convention, it doesn't make CNN. 00:22:45.69\00:22:49.30 If there's a Mormon convention, it doesn't make CNN. 00:22:49.33\00:22:52.03 If something happens that there is a replacement 00:22:52.07\00:22:54.40 of a Baptist leader or a Pentecostal leader, 00:22:54.44\00:22:57.94 it doesn't make CNN. 00:22:57.97\00:22:59.37 Christmas, they focus on the Vatican City, 00:22:59.41\00:23:01.78 Easter, they focus on the Vatican city. 00:23:01.81\00:23:04.31 Political maneuverings, 00:23:04.35\00:23:05.98 the pope comes to speak to Congress 00:23:06.01\00:23:08.18 and at the White House. 00:23:08.22\00:23:10.09 And when he's received, it doesn't matter who's there. 00:23:10.12\00:23:14.09 As I was in Washington, D.C on this last city visit, 00:23:14.12\00:23:17.19 and people of varying religions, 00:23:17.23\00:23:20.00 they said, "He is the peoples' pope." 00:23:20.03\00:23:23.60 Not the Catholics pope. 00:23:23.63\00:23:25.93 He is peoples' pope. 00:23:25.97\00:23:28.50 He is the spokesperson for all of us. 00:23:28.54\00:23:31.21 And we had people from varying denominations says, 00:23:31.24\00:23:34.08 "Although I am not a Catholic, 00:23:34.11\00:23:35.81 I believe he speaks in my behalf." 00:23:35.84\00:23:40.12 Let's go on. 00:23:40.15\00:23:41.58 And that's how you see 00:23:41.62\00:23:43.99 raising him to a god-like status. 00:23:44.02\00:23:45.95 Look at the next claim by the same pope, 00:23:45.99\00:23:48.59 not just him per say but anyone in the position of pope. 00:23:48.62\00:23:52.66 Here's the next claim. 00:23:52.69\00:23:55.10 "The Pope is crowned 00:23:55.13\00:23:56.46 with a triple crown, as king of..." 00:23:56.50\00:23:59.93 Let's read that together. As king of what? 00:23:59.97\00:24:01.84 "Heaven and of," what, 00:24:01.87\00:24:03.61 "Earth and of the lower regions." 00:24:03.64\00:24:06.71 Now how could you be king of heaven? 00:24:06.74\00:24:09.14 Somebody tell me. 00:24:09.18\00:24:10.91 Who is Jesus if the pope is king of heaven? 00:24:10.95\00:24:15.38 Jesus is King of Kings and together, 00:24:15.42\00:24:18.62 Lord of Lords of heaven, of earth. 00:24:18.65\00:24:24.89 That sounds like Exodus 20. 00:24:24.93\00:24:28.76 "Worship him who made the Heavens and the Earth 00:24:28.80\00:24:31.03 and the Sea and the springs of water." 00:24:31.07\00:24:33.10 And this is a man saying, "I wear a triple crown. 00:24:33.13\00:24:37.44 I am the king of heaven 00:24:37.47\00:24:38.81 and of earth and of the lower regions." 00:24:38.84\00:24:40.44 Here's another claim. 00:24:40.48\00:24:42.11 And this something that's leading 00:24:42.14\00:24:43.48 to our further questions for tonight. 00:24:43.51\00:24:45.51 Look at the third claim. 00:24:45.55\00:24:47.38 "The Pope is of so great authority and power 00:24:47.42\00:24:52.65 that he can," together, 00:24:52.69\00:24:54.42 "Modify, explain, or," what, 00:24:54.46\00:24:58.23 "Interpret even divine laws." 00:24:58.26\00:25:02.53 And there's a reference to that. 00:25:02.56\00:25:04.17 In other words, somebody might say... 00:25:04.20\00:25:05.90 Let me give you an example. 00:25:05.93\00:25:07.84 And this is one of the ones that we're gonna focus on 00:25:07.87\00:25:09.97 because this is talking about the truth 00:25:10.01\00:25:11.34 about the change of the Sabbath. 00:25:11.37\00:25:12.91 So one of the ways 00:25:12.94\00:25:14.28 that he is interpreted the divine law of the Sabbath, 00:25:14.31\00:25:16.48 you'll find in a moment, 00:25:16.51\00:25:18.21 he decides which day that is, rather than the Lord 00:25:18.25\00:25:21.88 who already established what date is, 00:25:21.92\00:25:23.72 the seventh day of the week, 00:25:23.75\00:25:25.15 sunset Friday to sunset Saturday. 00:25:25.19\00:25:27.39 He says, "You know what?" 00:25:27.42\00:25:28.76 I can modify that, I can change that 00:25:28.79\00:25:30.39 because I'm of so great authority and power, 00:25:30.43\00:25:33.06 I can modify even God's divine laws. 00:25:33.09\00:25:36.10 And here's one more before we go to the next one. 00:25:36.13\00:25:40.07 Here it is. 00:25:40.10\00:25:42.57 "The Pope can modify divine law, 00:25:42.60\00:25:45.37 since his power is not of man but of God, 00:25:45.41\00:25:51.31 and he acts as vicegerent of God upon earth 00:25:51.35\00:25:56.85 with most ample power of," what, 00:25:56.89\00:26:00.16 "Binding and loosing his sheep." 00:26:00.19\00:26:04.23 Now this statement comes from 00:26:04.26\00:26:07.06 when Jesus was having a conversation with Peter. 00:26:07.10\00:26:11.63 And He said, "Thou art Peter, 00:26:11.67\00:26:13.94 and upon this rock I build my church 00:26:13.97\00:26:16.14 and the gates of hell will not prevail against it." 00:26:16.17\00:26:18.44 The interpretation of that by the Roman leaders is that, 00:26:18.47\00:26:23.98 the Lord was saying to him, upon Peter I build my church. 00:26:24.01\00:26:27.82 Well, the weakness of that is, shortly after that statement, 00:26:27.85\00:26:30.92 what did Peter do? 00:26:30.95\00:26:32.55 He denied his Lord. Peter denied his Lord. 00:26:32.59\00:26:35.69 So if the church is built on a man 00:26:35.72\00:26:38.26 and Peter dies, what happens to the church? 00:26:38.29\00:26:41.66 It dies. 00:26:41.70\00:26:43.16 But the Bible says, "No other foundation can anyone lay 00:26:43.20\00:26:47.30 than that which is laid which is Christ Jesus." 00:26:47.34\00:26:50.57 Amen to that? 00:26:50.61\00:26:51.94 So Peter was not. 00:26:51.97\00:26:54.34 The word by the way in the Greek there, 00:26:54.38\00:26:56.18 Peter is Petros, rock is petra. 00:26:56.21\00:26:59.88 And when the Apostle says... 00:26:59.91\00:27:01.25 Matter of fact, go to 1 Corinthians 10, 00:27:01.28\00:27:02.72 let's look at that together. 00:27:02.75\00:27:04.12 Let's get some clarity in the scriptures. 00:27:04.15\00:27:05.79 So I'm making a lot of references 00:27:05.82\00:27:07.16 but I want to show you some scriptures 00:27:07.19\00:27:08.56 because this is widely important. 00:27:08.59\00:27:10.99 When you accept the authority of a man 00:27:11.03\00:27:13.80 in the place of the authority of God, 00:27:13.83\00:27:15.66 it doesn't seem unusual to pray to that man. 00:27:15.70\00:27:19.80 And we'll see in some upcoming lessons 00:27:19.83\00:27:22.27 how they claim to have that kind of ability, all right? 00:27:22.30\00:27:27.28 1 Corinthians 10 and look at verse 4. 00:27:27.31\00:27:33.92 Speaking of the journey of the Israelites 00:27:33.95\00:27:35.78 through the wilderness... 00:27:35.82\00:27:37.15 It says, "And all drink the same spiritual drink, 00:27:37.19\00:27:42.32 for they drank from that spiritual rock 00:27:42.36\00:27:45.79 that follow them..." 00:27:45.83\00:27:47.16 Let's read this together with some volume. 00:27:47.20\00:27:48.90 "And that rock was Christ." 00:27:48.93\00:27:52.23 Who is the rock? Christ. 00:27:52.27\00:27:54.94 He is the foundation that no one can lay. 00:27:54.97\00:27:59.21 So when a man says that I am the rock, 00:27:59.24\00:28:03.95 that the church is built on me, 00:28:03.98\00:28:05.68 then of course he perceives that 00:28:05.71\00:28:07.88 he has the power to do with the church 00:28:07.92\00:28:09.98 as he perceives he has the power. 00:28:10.02\00:28:12.09 But there is perceived power and then there is actual power. 00:28:12.12\00:28:16.02 Jesus is... 00:28:16.06\00:28:18.49 Matthew 28. Here it is. 00:39:12.88\00:39:15.45 "How long did the Bible reveal 00:39:15.48\00:39:18.85 that Papal Rome would rule?" 00:39:18.89\00:39:22.99 "How long did the Bible reveal that Papal Rome will rule?" 00:39:23.02\00:39:27.70 Look on the back of your sheet, it should be on the back. 00:39:27.73\00:39:30.40 "How long did the Bible reveal that Papal Rome would rule?" 00:39:30.43\00:39:37.31 Okay. 00:39:37.34\00:39:38.97 Okay, here it is. 00:39:39.01\00:39:41.21 And so let's look at that, Daniel 7:25. 00:39:41.24\00:39:44.58 Okay, here we are. 00:39:44.61\00:39:46.38 It's on the screen. 00:39:46.41\00:39:49.18 Okay. 00:39:49.22\00:39:53.12 And here is the word. 00:39:53.15\00:39:54.49 We just read it, but I'll read the rest of it. 00:39:54.52\00:39:56.09 "He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, 00:39:56.12\00:39:59.29 shall persecute the saints of the Most High, 00:39:59.33\00:40:02.63 shall intend to change..." 00:40:02.66\00:40:04.13 Together "Times and laws. 00:40:04.17\00:40:07.10 Then the saints shall be given into his hand..." 00:40:07.14\00:40:10.91 Together, for a what? 00:40:10.94\00:40:12.54 "Time..." And what else? 00:40:12.57\00:40:13.98 "Times and..." What else? 00:40:14.01\00:40:15.78 "Half a time." 00:40:15.81\00:40:17.15 Okay, so write that down. 00:40:17.18\00:40:20.08 And I'm gonna show you the progress here in a chart, 00:40:20.12\00:40:22.72 just coming up on the very next screen. 00:40:22.75\00:40:26.12 He'll bring that up in, 00:40:26.15\00:40:27.49 as our graphic individual bring the chart up, 00:40:27.52\00:40:29.49 I want to go ahead and walk you through it very quickly. 00:40:29.52\00:40:31.33 Let's look at this chart. 00:40:31.36\00:40:32.89 Excuse my voice. 00:40:32.93\00:40:35.03 This is what I called the "Progress of the Roman Empire." 00:40:35.06\00:40:38.63 We begin to the far left with Pagan Rome, 00:40:38.67\00:40:40.87 notice the date under Pagan Rome. 00:40:40.90\00:40:42.84 What date do I have there? 00:40:42.87\00:40:44.31 168 B.C. 00:40:44.34\00:40:47.94 That's when Pagan Rome replaced the Grecian Empire. 00:40:47.98\00:40:51.48 From 168 B.C. to 476 A.D. 00:40:51.51\00:40:54.78 paganism reigned uninterrupted, uninterrupted. 00:40:54.82\00:40:59.05 But as Rome adopted a state religion 00:40:59.09\00:41:01.32 in around 476 A.D., 00:41:01.36\00:41:04.39 there began a gradual rise. 00:41:04.43\00:41:06.90 Now look between 476 and 538 00:41:06.93\00:41:11.03 and you'll notice in small print, 00:41:11.07\00:41:12.90 three horns plucked out. 00:41:12.93\00:41:15.90 Three horns plucked out. 00:41:15.94\00:41:18.17 That's the Vandals, the Heruli, and the Ostrogoths. 00:41:18.21\00:41:22.24 These were the three nations, 00:41:22.28\00:41:23.85 these were considered Aryan Nations, 00:41:23.88\00:41:26.31 that stood in the way of Rome's total dominance. 00:41:26.35\00:41:31.02 So when the Bible says, 00:41:31.05\00:41:32.39 "Three horns plucked out by the roots," 00:41:32.42\00:41:35.09 these were the nations. 00:41:35.12\00:41:36.46 When you pluck something out by the roots, do they die? 00:41:36.49\00:41:38.79 Yes. 00:41:38.83\00:41:40.16 So when these nations were plucked out by the roots, 00:41:40.20\00:41:42.90 Papal Rome began its unhindered Rome, 00:41:42.93\00:41:46.87 its unhindered reign. 00:41:46.90\00:41:49.20 In what year? 00:41:49.24\00:41:50.57 What date do you see under that? 00:41:50.61\00:41:51.94 538 A.D., Anno Domini, in the year of our Lord. 00:41:51.97\00:41:56.44 So from 538, go all the way down to 1798, 00:41:56.48\00:42:01.15 you'll see time, times, half a time. 00:42:01.18\00:42:04.75 We break that down under that. 00:42:04.79\00:42:06.69 You have 1 Time equals what? 00:42:06.72\00:42:08.92 360. 00:42:08.96\00:42:10.69 Two times equal what? 00:42:10.73\00:42:12.43 720. 00:42:12.46\00:42:13.80 And half a time equals what? 180. 00:42:13.83\00:42:16.33 Add that up to together, that gives you how many? 00:42:16.36\00:42:18.57 1260. 00:42:18.60\00:42:20.44 So Rome reign unhindered from 538 to 1798 00:42:20.47\00:42:25.04 and many, many transitions took place 00:42:25.07\00:42:28.94 during this unhindered ruthless iron kingdom, 00:42:28.98\00:42:34.28 kingdom trampling, residue breaking, 00:42:34.32\00:42:37.25 earth shattering power of Rome. 00:42:37.29\00:42:40.19 Many things happened during that time. 00:42:40.22\00:42:42.62 Anybody that stood against Rome... 00:42:42.66\00:42:44.89 You should read the history books, 00:42:44.93\00:42:46.63 "Of the all the powers 00:42:46.66\00:42:48.00 that were just brought down by Rome." 00:42:48.03\00:42:51.00 It's quite a bit of interesting reading. 00:42:51.03\00:42:52.97 I was a great student of world history, I loved it. 00:42:53.00\00:42:57.11 Matter of fact, one of the reasons 00:42:57.14\00:42:58.47 I loved it so much 00:42:58.51\00:42:59.84 because I had to pass it to get out of school. 00:42:59.87\00:43:02.04 But it's very interesting to see the history of Rome, 00:43:02.08\00:43:05.81 the popes, those that go 00:43:05.85\00:43:08.38 from one transition to the other. 00:43:08.42\00:43:10.59 The enlightening portion of this 00:43:10.62\00:43:12.45 and I'll just make reference to 538 to 1798 again. 00:43:12.49\00:43:15.86 The beautiful thing about that is God only allows, 00:43:15.89\00:43:20.36 God only allows evil to prevail but for so long. 00:43:20.40\00:43:26.50 And what I want you to see is during this time, 00:43:26.53\00:43:29.94 can someone tell me... 00:43:29.97\00:43:31.31 This was called the Medieval Times 00:43:31.34\00:43:32.94 but there was another phrase 00:43:32.97\00:43:34.61 that this long period was known for. 00:43:34.64\00:43:37.61 Could someone tell me what that was? 00:43:37.65\00:43:39.11 The Dark Ages. Say it again. 00:43:39.15\00:43:40.48 The Dark Ages. The Dark Ages. 00:43:40.52\00:43:42.02 Now why would it be called the Dark Ages? 00:43:42.05\00:43:43.85 What is the Bible? 00:43:43.89\00:43:45.85 The light. 00:43:45.89\00:43:47.22 David the Psalmist says, 00:43:47.26\00:43:48.59 "The entrance of your word brings," what, "Light." 00:43:48.62\00:43:52.43 So the Church of Rome, the bishops of Rome, 00:43:52.46\00:43:55.10 the popes of Rome, 00:43:55.13\00:43:57.43 since there were no massive printing presses, 00:43:57.47\00:44:00.80 the Bibles or whatever Bible existed 00:44:00.84\00:44:03.07 was changed to the alters in Rome. 00:44:03.10\00:44:06.71 So to have access to it, 00:44:06.74\00:44:08.11 you'd have to go on a pilgrimage 00:44:08.14\00:44:10.01 like Martin Luther did to look at the Bible itself, 00:44:10.05\00:44:12.98 'cause they were not allowed to be 00:44:13.01\00:44:14.35 in the hand of the common people, 00:44:14.38\00:44:15.72 there were no massive printing presses. 00:44:15.75\00:44:18.22 And the Bible was... 00:44:18.25\00:44:20.22 The teachings of the Word of God 00:44:20.26\00:44:21.92 were not in the language of the people. 00:44:21.96\00:44:24.79 And so the church leaders 00:44:24.83\00:44:27.03 what they did to gain access to the minds of the people, 00:44:27.06\00:44:30.07 is they built massive beautiful cathedrals. 00:44:30.10\00:44:32.83 I did a study once on stained glass, 00:44:32.87\00:44:34.54 I did a seminar on this. 00:44:34.57\00:44:35.90 This was a very interesting to me. 00:44:35.94\00:44:38.24 Number of years ago, I did the sermon called stained glass 00:44:38.27\00:44:40.54 and what I came to find out 00:44:40.58\00:44:42.18 is the wealth of the Church of Rome 00:44:42.21\00:44:44.38 was of such magnificence because they sold indulgences, 00:44:44.41\00:44:47.62 in other words, they sold license to sin. 00:44:47.65\00:44:50.62 If you sin, you can pay for your sin 00:44:50.65\00:44:52.99 and get it pardoned 00:44:53.02\00:44:54.69 or you can buy some licenses to sin in advance. 00:44:54.72\00:44:58.49 "I plan on sinning on Tuesday but I need some license, 00:44:58.53\00:45:00.46 how much would that cost me? 00:45:00.50\00:45:02.06 Thirty pennies for the license, okay, I need three." 00:45:02.10\00:45:04.73 And, it's crazy as that sounds, you had license to sin. 00:45:04.77\00:45:09.67 Then also, they taught the teachings 00:45:09.70\00:45:11.14 of purgatory and limbo, 00:45:11.17\00:45:12.97 but the people had no Bible understanding. 00:45:13.01\00:45:15.28 Purgatory is taught that when your mother or father died 00:45:15.31\00:45:18.31 and they were not baptized, 00:45:18.35\00:45:20.32 their soul which is not taught in scripture, 00:45:20.35\00:45:22.92 floated off to this Netherland between earth and hell. 00:45:22.95\00:45:27.79 And they stay there, until you paid the pope, 00:45:27.82\00:45:31.09 to pray them from purgatory into heaven 00:45:31.13\00:45:33.56 and you had 30 days. 00:45:33.60\00:45:36.03 And so if you love your mother, Dee, 00:45:36.06\00:45:38.07 or your dad, Dee, you'd say... 00:45:38.10\00:45:39.57 They'd say, "Dee, your mother was not a baptized 00:45:39.60\00:45:42.30 member of the Catholic Church. 00:45:42.34\00:45:43.74 You know, you have 28 days before she goes to hell 00:45:43.77\00:45:46.37 and it's tormented forever." 00:45:46.41\00:45:48.31 That's where the Roman Catholic Church, 00:45:48.34\00:45:49.78 they took to belief the teachings of Hades, 00:45:49.81\00:45:53.38 Greek philosophy and inserted it 00:45:53.42\00:45:56.02 into the Roman Church 00:45:56.05\00:45:57.39 and they taught this ever burning hell 00:45:57.42\00:45:58.79 which is not supported by scripture. 00:45:58.82\00:46:01.19 And so that was for purgatory. 00:46:01.22\00:46:02.82 So if you paid the price, 00:46:02.86\00:46:04.73 your parents would, as they taught, go to heaven. 00:46:04.76\00:46:09.13 But then for limbo now, was for babies. 00:46:09.16\00:46:11.23 If the baby wasn't baptized and had died, 00:46:11.27\00:46:13.54 either whatever reason, the baby would go to limbo. 00:46:13.57\00:46:17.41 So that's why we have this term nowadays. 00:46:17.44\00:46:19.24 Come on, why are in limbo?" 00:46:19.27\00:46:21.18 That term limbo actually came from that belief. 00:46:21.21\00:46:24.11 You're neither in heaven, you're not in hell, 00:46:24.15\00:46:26.31 you're just in Netherland. 00:46:26.35\00:46:27.78 It's like a bridge between two countries. 00:46:27.82\00:46:29.82 You had no place that you belong. 00:46:29.85\00:46:32.09 And the church once again taught, 00:46:32.12\00:46:33.96 "That if you pay the price, 00:46:33.99\00:46:35.46 your baby won't have to go to hell 00:46:35.49\00:46:36.86 and be tormented forever, and ever, 00:46:36.89\00:46:38.69 and ever, and ever and ever, 00:46:38.73\00:46:40.33 and if I never stop saying forever, 00:46:40.36\00:46:41.86 that's how long?" 00:46:41.90\00:46:43.33 So what do you think they did? 00:46:43.37\00:46:44.70 They paid the money for the babies. 00:46:44.73\00:46:46.20 And the church literally existed 00:46:46.23\00:46:50.24 out of fraudulent unscriptural practices 00:46:50.27\00:46:53.91 and they built massive cathedrals. 00:46:53.94\00:46:56.41 And since the people had no reason 00:46:56.44\00:46:58.45 to go to the cathedrals 00:46:58.48\00:46:59.81 because they were not hearing God's Word, 00:46:59.85\00:47:01.68 but just these repetitious chants in Latin 00:47:01.72\00:47:05.32 or whatever language the cathedral 00:47:05.35\00:47:06.96 was established in Germany 00:47:06.99\00:47:08.52 or whatever part, Switzerland, whatever the language was, 00:47:08.56\00:47:12.73 they created stained glass which were beautiful. 00:47:12.76\00:47:17.07 It's because they didn't have light like we have today. 00:47:17.10\00:47:19.83 They relied on the light of the sun. 00:47:19.87\00:47:21.54 So people actually went to the cathedrals 00:47:21.57\00:47:24.14 for a colorful light show. 00:47:24.17\00:47:27.28 That's what stained glass was used for, 00:47:27.31\00:47:29.34 to attract the people to the cathedrals. 00:47:29.38\00:47:31.91 And if you look at some of the cathedrals of Europe 00:47:31.95\00:47:33.48 that are 1,000 years old, 800 years old, 00:47:33.52\00:47:36.18 we saw some of the beautiful ones. 00:47:36.22\00:47:37.75 We went to London and we saw the Cathedral of Saint John, 00:47:37.79\00:47:41.69 Saint Paul's cathedral, beautiful, 00:47:41.72\00:47:43.59 you step in and if you are not sane, 00:47:43.63\00:47:46.39 or if you don't know God's Word, it just feels holy. 00:47:46.43\00:47:50.03 That had this awe-inspiring magnificence about it. 00:47:50.07\00:47:53.13 But the stained glass was what lit up the minds of the people 00:47:53.17\00:47:56.50 because they had no light from God's Word. 00:47:56.54\00:47:59.47 But along came people like Calvin and Zwingli 00:47:59.51\00:48:02.41 and Hus and Jerome and Wycliffe and Martin Luther 00:48:02.44\00:48:06.41 and they began a revolution back to the Bible. 00:48:06.45\00:48:09.62 So this whole period... 00:48:09.65\00:48:11.05 So I say go to Revelation 12. 00:48:11.09\00:48:12.75 Did I say that? 00:48:12.79\00:48:14.12 Go to Revelation 12. 00:48:14.16\00:48:15.49 Let's look at this. 00:48:15.52\00:48:16.86 I want you to see what happened. 00:48:16.89\00:48:18.23 Because it was not only considered the Medieval Times, 00:48:18.26\00:48:21.26 it was also considered the Dark Ages. 00:48:21.30\00:48:24.63 It was a time where this church that was trampling everything 00:48:24.67\00:48:28.70 that was against the dictates of Rome 00:48:28.74\00:48:30.94 and the teachings of the Rome in Pontiffs 00:48:30.97\00:48:33.38 had to be exterminated 00:48:33.41\00:48:35.14 and 50 million Christians lost their lives 00:48:35.18\00:48:38.08 through some measure of torture. 00:48:38.11\00:48:40.12 If you got a strong stomach, 00:48:40.15\00:48:41.82 get the book called, "Foxe's Book of Martyrs." 00:48:41.85\00:48:44.45 You better have a strong stomach 00:48:44.49\00:48:45.82 when you read it. 00:48:45.85\00:48:47.19 It's not a novel. 00:48:47.22\00:48:48.56 By any mean it's not easy reading. 00:48:48.59\00:48:49.92 But it does give you some glimpse 00:48:49.96\00:48:51.86 into the torturous power of the Church of Rome 00:48:51.89\00:48:54.06 during the Dark Ages. 00:48:54.10\00:48:55.43 Now you might ask yourself, "Why are you saying that, 00:48:55.46\00:48:57.03 we're not living in the Dark Ages?" 00:48:57.07\00:48:59.97 Stay tuned, you'll find out. 00:49:00.00\00:49:02.50 Look at Revelation 12 00:49:02.54\00:49:04.17 and this is what God did to preserve His church. 00:49:04.21\00:49:08.51 Verse 13. 00:49:08.54\00:49:11.98 "So when the dragon..." 00:49:12.01\00:49:13.35 Who is Satan... 00:49:13.38\00:49:14.72 "Saw that he had been cast to the earth, 00:49:14.75\00:49:16.82 he persecuted the woman 00:49:16.85\00:49:18.45 who gave birth to the male child." 00:49:18.49\00:49:20.76 That's when he tried to kill Jesus. 00:49:20.79\00:49:22.82 Since he couldn't kill Jesus, 00:49:22.86\00:49:24.29 he started to persecute the woman, the church. 00:49:24.33\00:49:27.03 But look at how God preserved its church. 00:49:27.06\00:49:29.50 "But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle 00:49:29.53\00:49:32.70 that she might fly into the," what, 00:49:32.73\00:49:35.37 "Wilderness to her place, where she is nourished..." 00:49:35.40\00:49:39.31 Forget this. 00:49:39.34\00:49:40.88 "A time, times and half a time 00:49:40.91\00:49:44.48 from the presence of the serpent." 00:49:44.51\00:49:46.05 So you look at that chart again, 00:49:46.08\00:49:47.52 time, times, and half a time, from 538 to 1798 00:49:47.55\00:49:52.05 God hid His woman in the wilderness. 00:49:52.09\00:49:54.96 What do you say? 00:49:54.99\00:49:56.32 God hid the church, protected the church. 00:49:56.36\00:49:58.89 The devil said, "I got to get to this church, 00:49:58.93\00:50:00.70 I got to wipe it out." 00:50:00.73\00:50:02.33 And he used the power of Rome to try to do it. 00:50:02.36\00:50:05.67 Well, let's go on. 00:50:05.70\00:50:07.04 How did God help the church? 00:50:07.07\00:50:09.40 Look at what this devil did, verse 15. 00:50:09.44\00:50:13.98 "So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood 00:50:14.01\00:50:18.71 after the woman." 00:50:18.75\00:50:20.08 What does water symbolize, you, prophetically? 00:50:20.12\00:50:21.65 What does it symbolize? People. 00:50:21.68\00:50:23.85 There was a new revolution 00:50:23.89\00:50:25.22 that sprung up during the Dark Ages, 00:50:25.25\00:50:26.92 during the Medieval Times, it was called the renaissance. 00:50:26.96\00:50:29.66 You see on the heels of the Protestant Reformation, 00:50:29.69\00:50:31.69 this is all history. 00:50:31.73\00:50:33.13 On the heels of the Protestant Reformation, 00:50:33.16\00:50:34.83 I'm teaching tonight was the Counter Reformation. 00:50:34.86\00:50:39.63 The growth of art and music and science and philosophy, 00:50:39.67\00:50:44.67 they decided... 00:50:44.71\00:50:46.07 And they decided to turn the peoples' minds 00:50:46.11\00:50:48.64 away from the growing interest on the Bible to... 00:50:48.68\00:50:50.75 "Isn't that a wonderful song? 00:50:50.78\00:50:52.45 Isn't that a beautiful cathedral? 00:50:52.48\00:50:54.55 Isn't that a wonderful philosophy? 00:50:54.58\00:50:56.38 Isn't that great science?" 00:50:56.42\00:50:57.79 And the devil is doing it again today. 00:50:57.82\00:51:01.06 Many churches today are nothing more than the cathedrals 00:51:01.09\00:51:04.23 of the Dark Ages redesigned 00:51:04.26\00:51:06.93 because music has become the central focus 00:51:06.96\00:51:09.66 and not God's Word. 00:51:09.70\00:51:11.03 Have you noticed how the devil decides? 00:51:11.07\00:51:12.47 If it worked in the Dark Ages, let's use it again. 00:51:12.50\00:51:15.37 And many churches today are just preferring music 00:51:15.40\00:51:18.57 over the unadulterated Word of God. 00:51:18.61\00:51:21.61 And there's nothing wrong with music 00:51:21.64\00:51:24.98 but it depends on what alter it leads you to. 00:51:25.01\00:51:27.62 Okay, here we go. 00:51:27.65\00:51:29.88 And it says, "He spewed water like a flood after the woman 00:51:29.92\00:51:33.76 that he might cause her to be," what, 00:51:33.79\00:51:36.16 "Carried away by the flood." 00:51:36.19\00:51:37.63 He wants to sweep away the church, 00:51:37.66\00:51:38.99 he wants drown everything it stood for. 00:51:39.03\00:51:42.10 But verse 16, "But the earth helped the woman 00:51:42.13\00:51:47.20 and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood 00:51:47.24\00:51:50.77 which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth." 00:51:50.81\00:51:53.91 Now next lesson. 00:51:53.94\00:51:58.05 This is a tough lesson to preach. 00:51:58.08\00:52:00.02 This is a difficult one to teach. 00:52:00.05\00:52:01.82 Next lesson, what you're going to discover? 00:52:01.85\00:52:04.49 And I'll just go ahead and give you a preview 00:52:04.52\00:52:05.85 before I go to the next questions. 00:52:05.89\00:52:07.22 We have a few more time, few little more time. 00:52:07.26\00:52:09.62 You'll discover why America 00:52:09.66\00:52:12.96 is such a central focus of Rome. 00:52:12.99\00:52:16.77 The earth opened its mouth and helped the woman. 00:52:16.80\00:52:20.60 You'll discover... 00:52:20.64\00:52:21.97 Let's go ahead for historical reasons. 00:52:22.00\00:52:23.51 If you could bring that chart up one more time. 00:52:23.54\00:52:25.27 See if you could do that, I would appreciate that, 00:52:25.31\00:52:26.64 just bring this chart up very quickly for me 00:52:26.68\00:52:28.24 if you can on the screen. 00:52:28.28\00:52:30.45 Between 538 and 1798 something was happening, 00:52:30.48\00:52:35.42 that took place between the 1400s and the 1700s. 00:52:35.45\00:52:39.69 A little unknown continent called the Americas 00:52:39.72\00:52:44.13 was being considered by a man by the name 00:52:44.16\00:52:46.70 of Christopher Columbus or the pilgrims. 00:52:46.73\00:52:50.57 You have the Santa Maria, La Pinta and the... 00:52:50.60\00:52:53.47 I can't remember the third one. 00:52:53.50\00:52:54.84 But some of you got to remember the ships that came over here. 00:52:54.87\00:52:57.47 But in the 1700s particularly, 1776, 00:52:57.51\00:53:03.14 this country declared 00:53:03.18\00:53:05.21 its independence from British rule. 00:53:05.25\00:53:08.72 1776 is only 20... 00:53:08.75\00:53:13.49 How many years from the 1776, 76 and 98, that's 22 years? 00:53:13.52\00:53:19.76 Is that 22 years? 00:53:19.79\00:53:21.36 Is that right? 00:53:21.40\00:53:23.00 Okay, 22 years right? 00:53:23.03\00:53:24.57 So 1776 to 1798, it is only 22 years. 00:53:24.60\00:53:28.44 So between America being established 00:53:28.47\00:53:30.74 as an independent colony, 00:53:30.77\00:53:32.67 upper North-East as independent colonists, 00:53:32.71\00:53:36.78 they came to America running from the tyranny of Rome. 00:53:36.81\00:53:41.48 That's why they call themselves pilgrims. 00:53:41.52\00:53:43.42 You look at Hebrews 11 and Hebrews 11 tells you 00:53:43.45\00:53:47.29 that Abraham considered himself a pilgrim 00:53:47.32\00:53:50.53 because he was looking for a city 00:53:50.56\00:53:52.16 which had foundations, whose builder and maker is God. 00:53:52.19\00:53:55.13 Amen to that? 00:53:55.16\00:53:56.50 So they no longer had the freedom to reign... 00:53:56.53\00:53:58.70 I mean to worship as they wanted to in Europe 00:53:58.73\00:54:02.14 under the auspices of you can be killed, 00:54:02.17\00:54:05.94 burnt at the stake, the list goes on and on. 00:54:05.97\00:54:09.11 So they left coming to America. 00:54:09.14\00:54:10.95 And in America, this country established eventually 00:54:10.98\00:54:14.28 through Roger Williams, 00:54:14.32\00:54:15.75 the first religiously free colony 00:54:15.78\00:54:18.25 called Rhode Island. 00:54:18.29\00:54:20.46 You see when people say, 00:54:20.49\00:54:21.82 "I want to go back to the religion 00:54:21.86\00:54:23.19 of our forefathers." 00:54:23.22\00:54:24.56 I say no, I don't. 00:54:24.59\00:54:25.93 Because when the forefathers came to America, 00:54:25.96\00:54:27.73 they did not immediately establish religious freedom, 00:54:27.76\00:54:31.30 they almost duplicated what Rome did to help America 00:54:31.33\00:54:34.87 from getting influenced by Rome. 00:54:34.90\00:54:37.34 And so they established 00:54:37.37\00:54:39.24 what they called religious intolerance. 00:54:39.27\00:54:41.54 In other words they said, "If you have anything 00:54:41.58\00:54:43.95 that remotely resembles Catholicism, 00:54:43.98\00:54:46.38 you cannot be a part of this colony." 00:54:46.41\00:54:49.25 You cannot be a politician. 00:54:49.28\00:54:51.15 Does it sound like today? 00:54:51.19\00:54:52.92 So they put a litmus test out for anybody 00:54:52.95\00:54:55.36 wanting to hold office, 00:54:55.39\00:54:56.73 so people became religious 00:54:56.76\00:54:58.09 just to be a part of the colonies. 00:54:58.13\00:55:01.06 But Roger William said, "That's not right. 00:55:01.10\00:55:03.87 You're doing exactly what Rome did." 00:55:03.90\00:55:05.63 And, you know, what they did? 00:55:05.67\00:55:07.00 They ostracized Roger Williams 00:55:07.04\00:55:09.20 and they put him out of the colonies 00:55:09.24\00:55:11.11 and Roger Williams lived among the Indians, 00:55:11.14\00:55:13.38 the Native American Indians 00:55:13.41\00:55:14.94 or the Native Americans to teach them the Word of God 00:55:14.98\00:55:18.28 and then he established Road Island, 00:55:18.31\00:55:20.62 the first truly religiously free colony in this new land. 00:55:20.65\00:55:26.25 America became the earth that opened its mouth 00:55:26.29\00:55:30.13 and helped the church. 00:55:30.16\00:55:31.93 And today, if you are an American, 00:55:31.96\00:55:34.10 you know that, 00:55:34.13\00:55:35.46 right now this is only country that still offers 00:55:35.50\00:55:38.23 most of its citizens, all of its citizens 00:55:38.27\00:55:40.47 at least constitutionally 00:55:40.50\00:55:42.70 the right to worship however you please. 00:55:42.74\00:55:45.11 So we have to be very careful if we as Americans 00:55:45.14\00:55:47.68 start saying, "Other people can't worship 00:55:47.71\00:55:50.08 the way that they choose." 00:55:50.11\00:55:51.55 In spite of the religious climate in America 00:55:51.58\00:55:53.85 and there's a whole lot of instability here. 00:55:53.88\00:55:56.48 Let us not get to the place 00:55:56.52\00:55:57.85 where we become so religiously intolerant 00:55:57.89\00:56:00.52 and we start saying, 00:56:00.56\00:56:01.89 "You cannot worship the way you desire. 00:56:01.92\00:56:03.66 I don't like the way you worship." 00:56:03.69\00:56:05.73 It's not about how they worship, 00:56:05.76\00:56:07.66 when people become extreme 00:56:07.70\00:56:10.00 and start using what they believe 00:56:10.03\00:56:12.63 as an instrument of persecution, 00:56:12.67\00:56:15.34 that's when it's crossed the line. 00:56:15.37\00:56:17.01 So let's not label any particular religion 00:56:17.04\00:56:19.47 as a persecuting religion. 00:56:19.51\00:56:21.74 Because if you want to do that, 00:56:21.78\00:56:23.11 you will have to go back to Roman Catholicism, 00:56:23.14\00:56:25.18 the worst persecuting religion of all time. 00:56:25.21\00:56:28.68 And they don't deny the record. 00:56:28.72\00:56:30.05 Matter of fact, Pope John Paul II 00:56:30.09\00:56:31.42 apologized during his reign 00:56:31.45\00:56:33.12 for the atrocities perpetrated by Rome, 00:56:33.15\00:56:35.66 they admit that. 00:56:35.69\00:56:37.03 But they said, "We are new, we are not the same Rome." 00:56:37.06\00:56:40.00 Well, I want to tell you in the next broadcast, 00:56:40.03\00:56:42.06 I'm spending sometime to teach. 00:56:42.10\00:56:43.47 In the next broadcast you're going to see 00:56:43.50\00:56:45.97 the more things change, the more they stay the same. 00:56:46.00\00:56:52.14 America right now is the only place on earth 00:56:52.17\00:56:55.71 and I say this without reservation. 00:56:55.74\00:56:57.61 It is the only safe place on earth 00:56:57.65\00:56:59.75 for those who want to practice their religion. 00:56:59.78\00:57:02.42 And even as we speak, 00:57:02.45\00:57:04.15 you can see that's being eroded, with what? 00:57:04.19\00:57:06.65 Same sex marriage. 00:57:06.69\00:57:09.52 With people being persecuted employment wise, 00:57:09.56\00:57:14.46 for wanting to honor the Sabbath. 00:57:14.50\00:57:18.40 And for this push in America 00:57:18.43\00:57:19.97 to unite Evangelicals and Catholics together 00:57:20.00\00:57:24.01 to establish one major religion, 00:57:24.04\00:57:27.71 one head over that religion. 00:57:27.74\00:57:31.21 And we know who has suggested that? 00:57:31.25\00:57:33.68 The pope himself said, 00:57:33.72\00:57:35.05 "I would like to head up the world religions." 00:57:35.08\00:57:36.89 So we know America is in a very pivotal place 00:57:36.92\00:57:40.36 for the final scenes to take place. 00:57:40.39\00:57:42.39 In the very next broadcast, you're going to see 00:57:42.42\00:57:44.96 that what God predicted in His Word 00:57:44.99\00:57:47.30 is not only accurate but we can trust it 00:57:47.33\00:57:50.40 and we can rely on the unadulterated Word of God. 00:57:50.43\00:57:53.74 What do you say tonight? 00:57:53.77\00:57:55.10 So friends, keep studying God's Word 00:57:55.14\00:57:56.94 and if it doesn't make sense, 00:57:56.97\00:57:58.31 I guarantee you one day it will come into a sharper focus. 00:57:58.34\00:58:02.34 God bless you. 00:58:02.38\00:58:03.71
