Victory in Jesus. 00:02:40.22\00:02:41.56 Let's sing our theme song together. 00:02:41.59\00:02:42.92 I heard an old, old story 00:02:51.20\00:02:55.00 How the Savior came from glory 00:02:55.04\00:02:58.71 How He gave His life on Calvary 00:02:58.74\00:03:02.44 To save a wretch like me 00:03:02.48\00:03:06.35 I heard about His groaning 00:03:06.38\00:03:10.05 Of His precious blood's atoning 00:03:10.09\00:03:13.86 Then I repented of my sin 00:03:13.89\00:03:17.79 And won the victory 00:03:17.83\00:03:21.46 O victory in Jesus 00:03:21.50\00:03:25.20 My Savior, forever 00:03:25.23\00:03:29.07 He sought me and bought me 00:03:29.10\00:03:32.74 With His redeeming blood 00:03:32.77\00:03:36.61 He loved me ere I knew Him 00:03:36.64\00:03:40.42 And all my love is due Him 00:03:40.45\00:03:44.15 He plunged me to victory 00:03:44.19\00:03:47.89 Beneath the cleansing flood 00:03:47.92\00:03:51.76 I heard about a mansion 00:03:51.79\00:03:55.50 He has built for me in glory 00:03:55.53\00:03:59.23 And I heard about the streets of gold 00:03:59.27\00:04:02.97 Beyond the crystal sea 00:04:03.00\00:04:06.84 About the angels singing 00:04:06.88\00:04:10.55 And the old redemption story 00:04:10.58\00:04:14.32 And some sweet day I'll sing up there 00:04:14.35\00:04:18.25 The song of victory 00:04:18.29\00:04:20.69 Key change. 00:04:20.72\00:04:22.06 O victory in Jesus 00:04:22.09\00:04:25.66 My Savior, forever 00:04:25.69\00:04:29.56 He sought me and bought me 00:04:29.60\00:04:33.30 With His redeeming blood 00:04:33.34\00:04:37.04 He loved me ere I knew Him 00:04:37.07\00:04:40.84 And all my love is due Him 00:04:40.88\00:04:44.65 He plunged me to victory 00:04:44.68\00:04:48.38 Beneath the cleansing flood 00:04:48.42\00:04:52.29 He plunged me to victory 00:04:52.32\00:04:55.89 Beneath the cleansing flood 00:04:55.92\00:05:02.26 Amen? Amen. 00:05:02.30\00:05:03.97 Tonight's topic, 00:05:04.00\00:05:05.33 I'd like you to repeat the title with me together, 00:05:05.37\00:05:07.64 the Truth about the Change of the Sabbath. 00:05:07.67\00:05:13.31 Now this is a very vitally important topic. 00:05:13.34\00:05:15.71 Let me tell you why, 00:05:15.74\00:05:17.08 go with me to the Book of Daniel. 00:05:17.11\00:05:18.55 Daniel 6, 00:05:18.58\00:05:22.05 Daniel 6. 00:05:22.08\00:05:27.69 Now, the reason why this topic 00:05:27.72\00:05:29.39 is important is a number of reasons. 00:05:29.42\00:05:32.06 One, it is about the controversy 00:05:32.09\00:05:35.80 between the law of God and the laws of men. 00:05:35.83\00:05:40.64 The law of God and the laws of men. 00:05:40.67\00:05:43.74 Now, we are called to be allegiant 00:05:43.77\00:05:45.74 to the laws of God, 00:05:45.77\00:05:48.64 but the laws of men are always going to be 00:05:48.68\00:05:51.98 a contrast to the laws of God, 00:05:52.01\00:05:54.72 and we have had ample stories in the Bible 00:05:54.75\00:05:58.25 about individuals that chose to stand firm 00:05:58.29\00:06:01.06 and live honestly in harmony with the laws of God, 00:06:01.09\00:06:04.06 and what happened as a result? 00:06:04.09\00:06:06.26 Now, many things are changing in our world, 00:06:06.29\00:06:08.76 but the Bible says, 00:06:08.80\00:06:10.13 "Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever." 00:06:10.17\00:06:13.54 So Jesus is not changing, 00:06:13.57\00:06:15.27 since the law is a transcript of His character, 00:06:15.30\00:06:18.37 He doesn't change. 00:06:18.41\00:06:20.38 Recently in America, not too many months ago, 00:06:20.41\00:06:22.81 maybe about a year ago, 00:06:22.84\00:06:24.31 there was a law passed at the highest level 00:06:24.35\00:06:28.38 for the attitudes about marriage in America. 00:06:28.42\00:06:32.05 So they decided to adopt laws 00:06:32.09\00:06:34.82 in America to support same-sex marriage. 00:06:34.86\00:06:38.39 And many Christians were outraged, 00:06:38.43\00:06:40.06 even still today many Christian organizations, 00:06:40.10\00:06:42.70 many pastors refused to follow the laws of the land 00:06:42.73\00:06:46.53 because they are contrary to the laws of God. 00:06:46.57\00:06:50.14 Matter of fact, the Apostle Paul, 00:06:50.17\00:06:51.97 one of the reasons 00:06:52.01\00:06:53.34 why he was brought before the governor, 00:06:53.38\00:06:54.78 and Felix, and Agrippa, and ultimately Caesar, 00:06:54.81\00:06:59.21 it's because they said about the Apostle Paul, 00:06:59.25\00:07:02.15 "This man teaches people to worship contrary 00:07:02.18\00:07:07.32 to the laws of the land." 00:07:07.36\00:07:09.82 You follow that? 00:07:09.86\00:07:11.19 So Paul the Apostle went through imprisonment 00:07:11.23\00:07:13.76 and deprivation, 00:07:13.80\00:07:16.03 and he was whipped, he was maligned, 00:07:16.06\00:07:19.33 he was put in prison, 00:07:19.37\00:07:20.70 he was beaten with 39 lashes minus 1. 00:07:20.74\00:07:23.34 I mean he went through so much 00:07:23.37\00:07:24.81 because he chose to stand firmly 00:07:24.84\00:07:27.68 upon the laws of God. 00:07:27.71\00:07:30.41 Now, things have not changed, things have not changed. 00:07:30.45\00:07:35.58 We are going to pray for someone 00:07:35.62\00:07:36.95 in particular tonight, that's part of our fellowship, 00:07:36.99\00:07:39.49 who is presently going 00:07:39.52\00:07:40.86 through that very same persecution 00:07:40.89\00:07:42.89 because he refuses to compromise 00:07:42.92\00:07:44.79 the laws of God, 00:07:44.83\00:07:46.76 the laws of men against his desire 00:07:46.80\00:07:52.37 to be loyal to God. 00:07:52.40\00:07:56.07 But I want to give you encouragement tonight 00:07:56.10\00:07:57.51 because I want to begin with a story 00:07:57.54\00:07:58.87 that lets you know 00:07:58.91\00:08:00.24 that what's happening in the world today. 00:08:00.28\00:08:02.54 Let me go back to the original story, 00:08:02.58\00:08:04.05 what's happening in the world is no surprise to God. 00:08:04.08\00:08:06.68 Amen? 00:08:06.72\00:08:08.05 He saw it long before it began to transpire. 00:08:08.08\00:08:11.09 The law of God from heaven to the Garden of Eden, 00:08:11.12\00:08:14.42 to the Old Testament, to the New Testament, 00:08:14.46\00:08:17.53 through the Dark Ages, where it was changed, 00:08:17.56\00:08:20.20 to the modern days, 00:08:20.23\00:08:21.56 God knew long before men made the decision 00:08:21.60\00:08:25.10 that the laws of God would be changed by men. 00:08:25.13\00:08:27.64 We're gonna talk about that tonight. 00:08:27.67\00:08:29.50 But let me give you encouragement, 00:08:29.54\00:08:31.87 my brother, and those of you 00:08:31.91\00:08:33.48 that may be in a similar situation. 00:08:33.51\00:08:35.58 God sometimes doesn't save us 00:08:35.61\00:08:38.11 from... 00:08:38.15\00:08:42.35 From the attitudes 00:08:42.38\00:08:44.75 and the penalties of men, 00:08:44.79\00:08:47.36 God saves us through the attitudes 00:08:47.39\00:08:50.96 and penalties of men. 00:08:50.99\00:08:52.63 Look at Daniel 6 very quickly. 00:08:52.66\00:08:55.36 This story came to my mind, 00:08:55.40\00:08:56.73 I did not intend to begin with this story, 00:08:56.77\00:08:59.83 but Daniel was a part of the kingdom of the Medes 00:08:59.87\00:09:04.24 and the Persians, the Medo-Persian Empire, 00:09:04.27\00:09:07.38 and Daniel chose as one of the governors, 00:09:07.41\00:09:10.08 that when the time came, 00:09:10.11\00:09:11.45 he was going to stand firmly upon the law of God. 00:09:11.48\00:09:14.38 Daniel decided to pray how many times a day? 00:09:14.42\00:09:17.39 Three. 00:09:17.42\00:09:18.75 Three times a day, morning, afternoon, and evening worship. 00:09:18.79\00:09:22.16 That was his pattern. 00:09:22.19\00:09:24.33 And he chose not to be disloyal to that. 00:09:24.36\00:09:27.66 When you choose not to be disloyal to God, 00:09:27.70\00:09:30.07 men will be upset with you because behind them, 00:09:30.10\00:09:33.23 Revelation 12:17, 00:09:33.27\00:09:34.77 Satan is upset with those 00:09:34.80\00:09:36.34 who keep the commandments of God. 00:09:36.37\00:09:38.27 So anytime you decide to stand with God, 00:09:38.31\00:09:40.94 Satan tries to marshal forces against you. 00:09:40.98\00:09:43.51 And he's always done that, 00:09:43.55\00:09:44.88 so we're not living in a new environment, 00:09:44.91\00:09:46.61 nothing is a surprise to God. 00:09:46.65\00:09:48.62 But look at what happened, 00:09:48.65\00:09:49.98 and this is exactly why 00:09:50.02\00:09:51.35 this subject is vitally important. 00:09:51.39\00:09:53.49 Now, the same anger and discontent 00:09:53.52\00:09:59.39 that Christians today have 00:09:59.43\00:10:01.80 with the idea that the same-sex marriage 00:10:01.83\00:10:04.03 has violated God's principles and laws about marriage 00:10:04.07\00:10:08.30 would also be shared 00:10:08.34\00:10:09.67 if the Sabbath was changed in our day 00:10:09.70\00:10:13.34 from Saturday to Sunday, 00:10:13.38\00:10:16.08 but because it was done centuries ago, 00:10:16.11\00:10:18.75 most Christians today 00:10:18.78\00:10:20.12 just honor the first day of the week 00:10:20.15\00:10:21.48 as though it is the law of God 00:10:21.52\00:10:22.98 when, in fact, it is not a law of God. 00:10:23.02\00:10:26.19 It is not a commandment of God. 00:10:26.22\00:10:28.42 It is not one of the Ten Commandments, 00:10:28.46\00:10:31.99 but it's tradition, 00:10:32.03\00:10:33.36 and so if the world were to last long enough, 00:10:33.40\00:10:36.03 the tradition of same-sex marriage, 00:10:36.06\00:10:37.93 a 100 years from now or 200 hundred years from now 00:10:37.97\00:10:40.54 would be in the minds of people, somewhat an... 00:10:40.57\00:10:43.41 They may think that God has always approved of it. 00:10:43.44\00:10:46.57 Well, God no more approves of same-sex marriage 00:10:46.61\00:10:49.41 than He approves of the Sabbath 00:10:49.44\00:10:50.78 being changed from the seventh day 00:10:50.81\00:10:53.11 to the first day of the week. 00:10:53.15\00:10:55.08 But there are many Christians that don't know that. 00:10:55.12\00:10:58.72 So it's important for us to look at God's Word 00:10:58.75\00:11:00.96 so that those who want to serve God 00:11:00.99\00:11:02.66 according to the truth 00:11:02.69\00:11:04.63 will take their side on the stand of truth. 00:11:04.66\00:11:06.80 Amen? 00:11:06.83\00:11:08.16 Daniel 6, 00:11:08.20\00:11:10.10 I'm going to look at verse 3, all right, 00:11:10.13\00:11:13.74 and the Bible says, 00:11:13.77\00:11:15.10 "Then this Daniel 00:11:15.14\00:11:17.91 distinguished himself above all, 00:11:17.94\00:11:20.38 above the governors and satraps," that's rulers, 00:11:20.41\00:11:24.31 "because an excellent spirit was in him." 00:11:24.35\00:11:27.68 Let me just make a point. 00:11:27.72\00:11:29.05 When you decide to stand for right, 00:11:29.08\00:11:30.59 do it with an excellent spirit, amen? 00:11:30.62\00:11:33.12 Don't say, "I don't care what you say." 00:11:33.15\00:11:35.89 You say, "I'm honoring God, 00:11:35.92\00:11:38.36 I'm standing for Him on His Word. 00:11:38.39\00:11:40.10 I'm not going to violate what God has asked me to do." 00:11:40.13\00:11:42.86 Have an excellent spirit about it 00:11:42.90\00:11:44.53 because it goes a long way. 00:11:44.57\00:11:45.90 The Bible says, 00:11:45.93\00:11:47.27 "There was an excellent spirit was in him, 00:11:47.30\00:11:49.07 and the king gave thought to setting him 00:11:49.10\00:11:54.08 over the whole realm." 00:11:54.11\00:11:56.61 He was elevated 00:11:56.64\00:11:57.98 because he had the right attitude, 00:11:58.01\00:12:00.08 and it goes on in verse 5. 00:12:00.12\00:12:02.38 Men didn't like it, so what did they do? 00:12:02.42\00:12:05.09 "So the governors and satraps sought to find 00:12:05.12\00:12:08.02 some charge against Daniel concerning the kingdom." 00:12:08.06\00:12:13.70 But what does it say, 00:12:13.73\00:12:15.06 "They could not find charge or fault." 00:12:15.10\00:12:19.30 They looked at this man and says, 00:12:19.33\00:12:20.67 "He does a good job. 00:12:20.70\00:12:22.10 He's not out of harmony with the things 00:12:22.14\00:12:24.24 that he's been given responsibility over, 00:12:24.27\00:12:26.91 but they continued looking." 00:12:26.94\00:12:28.78 And the Bible says, "The reason why 00:12:28.81\00:12:30.15 they couldn't find charge or fault 00:12:30.18\00:12:31.91 because he was," what's the next word, 00:12:31.95\00:12:34.92 say it again, next word is what? 00:12:34.95\00:12:36.82 "Faithful, nor was there any error 00:12:36.85\00:12:39.75 or fault found in him." 00:12:39.79\00:12:42.89 Now was he a perfect individual? 00:12:42.92\00:12:44.36 No, but God gave him responsibilities, 00:12:44.39\00:12:47.56 and he followed through on those. 00:12:47.60\00:12:49.46 But look at what they did now. 00:12:49.50\00:12:51.27 Verse 5, "Then these men said, 00:12:51.30\00:12:56.00 "We will not find any charge against this Daniel 00:12:56.04\00:13:00.68 unless we find it against him 00:13:00.71\00:13:04.11 concerning the law of his God.'" 00:13:04.15\00:13:07.02 They decided, Johnny, 00:13:07.05\00:13:08.58 to look at the God he served and the law of his God, 00:13:08.62\00:13:12.42 and they decided to pit him against God's law. 00:13:12.45\00:13:16.12 They decided, they said, 00:13:16.16\00:13:17.49 "This is how we're going to get him. 00:13:17.53\00:13:21.13 He is true to his God's law, 00:13:21.16\00:13:25.33 so we got to set up a law 00:13:25.37\00:13:28.67 that will test his allegiance to God's law." 00:13:28.70\00:13:31.67 So what did they do? 00:13:31.71\00:13:33.54 "So these governors," verse 6, 00:13:33.58\00:13:35.78 "and satraps thronged before the king, 00:13:35.81\00:13:38.01 and said thus to the king, "King Darius, live forever!" 00:13:38.05\00:13:41.28 You know, waxing him, watch how when people wax you. 00:13:41.32\00:13:43.82 They're about to set you up. 00:13:43.85\00:13:46.52 Verse 7, 00:13:46.55\00:13:47.89 "All the governors of the kingdom, 00:13:47.92\00:13:49.29 the administrators and satraps, 00:13:49.32\00:13:51.69 the counselors and advisors have consulted together 00:13:51.73\00:13:55.16 to establish a royal statute and to make a firm decree 00:13:55.20\00:13:59.90 that whoever petitions any God or man for..." 00:13:59.93\00:14:04.11 How long? 00:14:04.14\00:14:05.47 "Thirty days, except you, 00:14:05.51\00:14:06.84 O king, shall be cast into the den of lions." 00:14:06.88\00:14:10.38 You're in a den of lions right now, 00:14:10.41\00:14:12.41 but God knew it was coming. 00:14:12.45\00:14:14.38 See, nothing happens that God doesn't know about. 00:14:14.42\00:14:18.09 "Now, O king," verse 8, 00:14:18.12\00:14:20.02 "establish the decree 00:14:20.06\00:14:23.63 and sign the writing, so that it..." 00:14:23.66\00:14:25.73 What? 00:14:25.76\00:14:27.10 "Cannot be changed, according to the..." 00:14:27.13\00:14:28.80 What? 00:14:28.83\00:14:30.17 "Laws of the Medes and Persians, 00:14:30.20\00:14:32.53 which does not alter." 00:14:32.57\00:14:33.90 You're going to get excited about that word 00:14:33.94\00:14:35.90 "which does not alter." 00:14:35.94\00:14:37.27 They said, "We're not changing, 00:14:37.31\00:14:39.04 and Daniel's law and God's law 00:14:39.07\00:14:41.88 that Daniel honors is not changing." 00:14:41.91\00:14:43.75 So we want to see 00:14:43.78\00:14:45.11 which one is going to get his allegiance 00:14:45.15\00:14:47.45 when the chips are down, his position is at stake, 00:14:47.48\00:14:51.09 his leadership in this kingdom is at stake, 00:14:51.12\00:14:53.59 all the authority he has is at stake. 00:14:53.62\00:14:57.19 Let's see if he wants his position 00:14:57.23\00:14:59.36 more than he wants to maintain his loyalty. 00:14:59.39\00:15:04.53 Verse 10, "Now when Daniel knew 00:15:04.57\00:15:06.60 that the writing was signed, he went home. 00:15:06.63\00:15:09.70 And in his upper room, with his windows..." 00:15:09.74\00:15:12.47 What? 00:15:12.51\00:15:13.84 "Open toward Jerusalem, 00:15:13.88\00:15:15.58 he knelt down on his knees three times that day 00:15:15.61\00:15:18.98 and prayed and gave thanks before his God, 00:15:19.01\00:15:22.52 as was his custom since early days." 00:15:22.55\00:15:25.85 In other words, Daniel said, 00:15:25.89\00:15:27.22 "They're trying to prevent me from praying? 00:15:27.26\00:15:30.56 Nobody's going to prevent me from praying." 00:15:30.59\00:15:32.63 What do you say? 00:15:32.66\00:15:34.00 And he says, 00:15:34.03\00:15:35.70 "It's too late to hide my loyalty to God." 00:15:35.73\00:15:39.40 You know, and he could have easily closed 00:15:39.43\00:15:40.77 the windows and prayed. 00:15:40.80\00:15:42.14 A lot of people would have done that, 00:15:42.17\00:15:43.51 a lot of people would say, 00:15:43.54\00:15:44.87 "Man, my position is on the line. 00:15:44.91\00:15:46.24 I can't afford to lose my job. 00:15:46.27\00:15:47.61 So I'm going to close my window because God will understand." 00:15:47.64\00:15:51.41 But you know what? 00:15:51.45\00:15:52.78 If your witness and your allegiance to God 00:15:52.81\00:15:54.92 is not known by others, 00:15:54.95\00:15:57.59 when God turns the situation around, 00:15:57.62\00:15:59.59 they will never see how powerful 00:15:59.62\00:16:01.29 and how loyal your God is. 00:16:01.32\00:16:03.99 Let's go on, verse 11, 00:16:04.03\00:16:09.13 "Then these men assembled and found Daniel praying 00:16:09.16\00:16:12.50 and making supplication before his God. 00:16:12.53\00:16:15.34 And verse 12, "And they went before the king 00:16:15.37\00:16:17.04 and spoke concerning the king's decree, 00:16:17.07\00:16:19.37 "Have you not signed a decree that," 00:16:19.41\00:16:21.44 every man that works in this company, 00:16:21.48\00:16:25.51 every man that's under the roof of this declaration," 00:16:25.55\00:16:28.28 any man who petitions any god or man within thirty days, 00:16:28.32\00:16:32.32 except you, 00:16:32.35\00:16:33.89 O king, shall be cast into the den of lions?" 00:16:33.92\00:16:36.66 The king answered and said, "This thing is true, 00:16:36.69\00:16:39.26 according to the law of the Medes and the Persians, 00:16:39.29\00:16:42.20 which" what? 00:16:42.23\00:16:43.57 "Does not alter." 00:16:43.60\00:16:45.13 We ain't changing our policies, 00:16:45.17\00:16:47.77 we ain't changing our company's principles for nobody, 00:16:47.80\00:16:52.07 not even Daniel. 00:16:52.11\00:16:55.61 Verse 13, "So they answered, and said before the king, 00:16:55.64\00:16:59.21 "Now, that Daniel, 00:16:59.25\00:17:01.82 who is one of the captives from Judah, 00:17:01.85\00:17:04.72 does not show due regard," to company policy, 00:17:04.75\00:17:08.92 "For you, O king, 00:17:08.96\00:17:10.99 or for the decree that you have signed, 00:17:11.03\00:17:13.90 but makes his petition three times a day." 00:17:13.93\00:17:16.77 He's got somebody else he's loyal to. 00:17:16.80\00:17:19.00 Can we all say amen to that? 00:17:19.03\00:17:20.60 Our loyalty, as the Apostle said, 00:17:20.64\00:17:23.34 "We ought to obey God rather than man." 00:17:23.37\00:17:26.91 There's no contest. 00:17:26.94\00:17:28.34 So men that are in positions of authority, 00:17:28.38\00:17:30.71 some of them haven't caught that yet. 00:17:30.75\00:17:33.18 God is God and they're not. 00:17:33.21\00:17:36.48 I'm not preaching, I'm teaching. 00:17:36.52\00:17:39.99 And verse 14, 00:17:40.02\00:17:41.36 "And the king, when he heard these words, 00:17:41.39\00:17:44.59 was greatly displeased with himself, 00:17:44.63\00:17:47.53 and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him. 00:17:47.56\00:17:50.47 And he labored till the going down 00:17:50.50\00:17:52.83 of the sun to deliver him." 00:17:52.87\00:17:54.34 He realized, at that moment, he was trapped. 00:17:54.37\00:17:56.71 He realized that he had done this to a good friend 00:17:56.74\00:17:59.47 and didn't catch until they said, 00:17:59.51\00:18:01.71 "You signed it." 00:18:01.74\00:18:03.08 And when you sign a law 00:18:03.11\00:18:04.45 that affects your entire kingdom, 00:18:04.48\00:18:05.88 you may have a personal relationship, 00:18:05.91\00:18:07.65 but now your loyalty between your whole kingdom 00:18:07.68\00:18:13.79 and your friend is going to be tested. 00:18:13.82\00:18:16.49 And he decided to side with his kingdom. 00:18:16.52\00:18:23.40 Verse 15, 00:18:23.43\00:18:25.53 "Then these men approached the king, 00:18:25.57\00:18:26.90 and said to the king, 00:18:26.94\00:18:28.27 'Know, O king, 00:18:28.30\00:18:29.64 that it is the law of the Medes and Persians 00:18:29.67\00:18:32.17 that no decree or statute 00:18:32.21\00:18:34.18 which the king establishes may be changed.'" 00:18:34.21\00:18:36.41 They probably saw his attitude and said, 00:18:36.44\00:18:38.35 "I know you feel bad, but you can't change it. 00:18:38.38\00:18:41.88 I know you're in a pickle right now, sorry, 00:18:41.92\00:18:44.32 it's company policy." 00:18:44.35\00:18:47.46 "So the king gave command, verse 16, 00:18:47.49\00:18:49.62 and they brought Daniel 00:18:49.66\00:18:50.99 and cast him into the den of lions. 00:18:51.03\00:18:52.36 But the king spoke, saying to Daniel," 00:18:52.39\00:18:55.10 come on, say it together, 00:18:55.13\00:18:56.46 "Your God, whom you serve", how often? 00:18:56.50\00:18:59.70 "Continually, He will deliver you." 00:18:59.73\00:19:03.27 That's the message today that my Brother Johnny Swann. 00:19:03.30\00:19:07.48 Put his name on your page tonight, 00:19:07.51\00:19:09.24 "Johnny Swann." 00:19:09.28\00:19:10.61 Those of you that are listening, 00:19:10.65\00:19:11.98 pray for him in our audience. 00:19:12.01\00:19:15.95 So I'm going to go ahead and go through the story. 00:19:15.98\00:19:18.69 So they put Daniel in the lions' den, 00:19:18.72\00:19:20.66 they put a stone over it. 00:19:20.69\00:19:22.22 They decided, "Bye-bye." 00:19:22.26\00:19:26.63 Because nobody survives the lions' den. 00:19:26.66\00:19:30.17 Let me change that, 00:19:30.20\00:19:31.53 except those that are loyal to God. 00:19:31.57\00:19:34.04 Okay? 00:19:34.07\00:19:35.40 God said, "Wait a minute, Daniel is my servant, 00:19:35.44\00:19:40.11 and I made these lions. 00:19:40.14\00:19:41.64 Tonight, they're going to have a wonderful evening together." 00:19:41.68\00:19:45.25 That's what God does. Amen? 00:19:45.28\00:19:46.95 He comforts you in moments of trial, 00:19:46.98\00:19:48.98 what looks like destruction, to servants of God, 00:19:49.02\00:19:52.35 are really just a night off in God's kingdom. 00:19:52.39\00:19:56.76 Pick out some time off 00:19:56.79\00:19:58.13 and tomorrow things will be the same. 00:19:58.16\00:19:59.53 So Daniel was there all night, 00:19:59.56\00:20:01.96 he's the only one that laid all night on the chest, 00:20:02.00\00:20:04.77 or the breast of the other lions and said, 00:20:04.80\00:20:06.97 "How're you doing?" 00:20:07.00\00:20:08.97 Rub, stroke their hair, and they walked around 00:20:09.00\00:20:11.14 and just probably licked his face, 00:20:11.17\00:20:13.01 and they'd said, "We can't eat him. 00:20:13.04\00:20:16.51 He's not authorized by God to eat." 00:20:16.54\00:20:18.41 So they had a wonderful night in the lions' den. 00:20:18.45\00:20:21.28 And when the morning came, verse 19, 00:20:21.32\00:20:25.59 "The king arose very early in the morning." 00:20:25.62\00:20:28.12 I suggest he couldn't sleep, he couldn't sleep, he fasted, 00:20:28.16\00:20:33.29 he couldn't sleep, no matter what happened, 00:20:33.33\00:20:35.43 they couldn't comfort him, he got up early in the morning, 00:20:35.46\00:20:38.27 and went in haste to the den of lions. 00:20:38.30\00:20:40.50 "And when he came to the den of lions, 00:20:40.54\00:20:41.87 he cried out with a lamenting voice, 00:20:41.90\00:20:44.21 sadness, tears in his voice, to Daniel. 00:20:44.24\00:20:46.41 The king spoke, saying to Daniel, 00:20:46.44\00:20:48.41 'Daniel, servant of the living God, 00:20:48.44\00:20:51.05 has your God, whom you serve continually, 00:20:51.08\00:20:53.28 been able to deliver you from the lions?'" 00:20:53.31\00:20:57.69 It is a wonderful story. 00:20:57.72\00:20:59.05 How come I hadn't preached this sermon until tonight? 00:20:59.09\00:21:01.36 "Then Daniel said to the king, "O king," just relax, 00:21:01.39\00:21:06.46 "live forever" 00:21:06.49\00:21:07.83 Enjoy the morning, don't worry about it. 00:21:07.86\00:21:10.63 I'm here. 00:21:10.67\00:21:12.13 And I just want to bring greetings to you 00:21:12.17\00:21:13.50 from the lions. 00:21:13.54\00:21:14.87 They just want to tell you hello. 00:21:14.90\00:21:19.47 "My God," who friends? Who friends? 00:21:19.51\00:21:23.21 "My God sent His angel and shut the lions' mouths 00:21:23.24\00:21:29.45 so that they have not hurt me 00:21:29.48\00:21:32.85 because I was found," what? 00:21:32.89\00:21:35.92 "Innocent before Him, and also, 00:21:35.96\00:21:39.16 O king, I have done no wrong before you.'" 00:21:39.19\00:21:42.33 "I haven't done anything wrong before God, 00:21:42.36\00:21:44.87 and I didn't do anything wrong before you, 00:21:44.90\00:21:47.54 why am I in this situation?" 00:21:47.57\00:21:49.40 So the king says, "All right, I'll fix it. 00:21:49.44\00:21:53.27 I'm not going to let anybody, who's loyal to me 00:21:53.31\00:21:56.31 and loyal to their God be penalized 00:21:56.34\00:21:59.35 without getting those guys who set him up penalize." 00:21:59.38\00:22:05.29 You know what? Let me tell you, tables turned. 00:22:05.32\00:22:08.16 Say that again with me, tables turned. 00:22:08.19\00:22:11.89 When the tables turn, the story is quite different. 00:22:11.93\00:22:14.93 Be careful, let me just say this 00:22:14.96\00:22:16.33 to those who are listening. 00:22:16.36\00:22:17.70 You may be one of those employers 00:22:17.73\00:22:19.17 that have no care for God's law. 00:22:19.20\00:22:21.50 You may say, "That's right, in my company, 00:22:21.54\00:22:23.30 what I say matters." 00:22:23.34\00:22:24.67 Be careful, 00:22:24.71\00:22:26.04 'cause the table's about to turn. 00:22:26.07\00:22:27.51 Here it is, and verse 24, well, when he came out, 00:22:27.54\00:22:32.61 there was no injury, whatever found on him 00:22:32.65\00:22:34.05 because he was delivered. 00:22:34.08\00:22:35.42 God delivered him. Praise God for that. 00:22:35.45\00:22:36.99 "And the king gave the command, 00:22:37.02\00:22:39.42 and they brought those men who had accused Daniel, 00:22:39.45\00:22:43.63 and they cast them into the den of lions, 00:22:43.66\00:22:46.80 them, their children, and their wives, 00:22:46.83\00:22:51.73 and the lions overpowered them, 00:22:51.77\00:22:54.50 and broke all their bones in pieces 00:22:54.54\00:22:57.51 before they ever came to the bottom of the den." 00:22:57.54\00:23:03.45 If that were not a true story, I wouldn't read it. 00:23:03.48\00:23:07.95 They said, "First of all, 00:23:07.98\00:23:10.92 you put a guy in here that we could not eat, 00:23:10.95\00:23:12.85 and we've been starving all night. 00:23:12.89\00:23:16.29 And we are really hungry now. 00:23:16.32\00:23:18.69 So give us more food than you gave us yesterday." 00:23:18.73\00:23:22.36 It's a sad story, but the reality of that 00:23:22.40\00:23:24.83 is when you stand firmly for God, 00:23:24.87\00:23:27.57 God is a God of deliverance. 00:23:27.60\00:23:29.60 Amen? Amen. 00:23:29.64\00:23:30.97 He doesn't deliver us from the fire 00:23:31.01\00:23:32.87 but through the fire. 00:23:32.91\00:23:34.51 He doesn't deliver you from the den 00:23:34.54\00:23:37.08 but through the den. 00:23:37.11\00:23:38.45 So even the den now, 00:23:38.48\00:23:39.81 but there's another side to the den, 00:23:39.85\00:23:41.55 how you got in it? 00:23:41.58\00:23:42.92 By your loyalty, 00:23:42.95\00:23:44.29 it's why you're going to get out of it. 00:23:44.32\00:23:45.65 God's got greater things in store. 00:23:45.69\00:23:47.32 I was going to say amen church, but I'm not preaching. 00:23:47.36\00:23:51.29 I'm not preaching, it might sound like, 00:23:51.33\00:23:52.79 but I'm not preaching. 00:23:52.83\00:23:54.40 So tonight, we're talking about being loyal to God, 00:23:54.43\00:23:59.23 being loyal to God. 00:23:59.27\00:24:00.60 Say it with me, what is it? What happens when you... 00:32:41.02\00:32:43.36 What's another phrase for devour? 00:32:43.39\00:32:46.63 Do you have any children that like to eat? 00:32:46.66\00:32:48.13 Come on, help me out. 00:32:48.16\00:32:50.13 Okay, I know Cynthia too... 00:32:50.17\00:32:52.70 I know Timothy is a grown boy, and I don't know 00:32:52.73\00:32:54.74 what Hannah's dietary habits are, 00:32:54.77\00:32:56.77 but I'm going to imagine Timothy knows how to eat. 00:32:56.81\00:32:59.34 When I was a kid, 00:32:59.37\00:33:00.71 I remember the neighbor saying to my mother, 00:33:00.74\00:33:03.18 my mother's saying to the neighbor, 00:33:03.21\00:33:04.55 "I rather clothe him than feed him." 00:33:04.58\00:33:07.68 'Cause I could eat, and that children do that. 00:33:07.72\00:33:10.19 But this beast will devour the whole earth. 00:33:10.22\00:33:14.69 So this kingdom of Rome, what it means by devour, 00:33:14.72\00:33:17.86 there'll be no place on the earth 00:33:17.89\00:33:20.96 that will be out of the tenacious reach 00:33:21.00\00:33:23.67 of the Roman Empire. 00:33:23.70\00:33:25.10 There'll be no place, 00:33:25.13\00:33:26.47 you can go to the farthest end of the earth. 00:33:26.50\00:33:27.90 And when you study European history, 00:33:27.94\00:33:29.57 when you study the history of the Middle Ages, 00:33:29.60\00:33:31.44 you discover that there's a phrase 00:33:31.47\00:33:33.48 that is known by all historian, "All roads lead to Rome." 00:33:33.51\00:33:40.28 And if you go to Rome or to Europe, 00:33:40.32\00:33:41.65 and you do a helicopter tour, 00:33:41.68\00:33:44.29 you can still see some of those roads, 00:33:44.32\00:33:46.22 it was like a sun disk from the old Roman Empire, 00:33:46.25\00:33:50.13 roads leading from different kingdoms 00:33:50.16\00:33:51.69 right to where the old Roman Empire is. 00:33:51.73\00:33:54.43 Because where Vatican City is, 00:33:54.46\00:33:56.00 that was not the old headquarters 00:33:56.03\00:33:58.27 of the Roman Empire. 00:33:58.30\00:33:59.63 That was given in 1929 by General Mussolini 00:33:59.67\00:34:02.94 to the Vaticans 00:34:02.97\00:34:04.41 or to the Roman Catholic Church. 00:34:04.44\00:34:06.61 But all these roads led to Rome, 00:34:06.64\00:34:08.64 and the Bible says, 00:34:08.68\00:34:10.01 "He's going to be the fourth kingdom. 00:34:10.05\00:34:11.41 He's going to be different from all the other kingdoms. 00:34:11.45\00:34:13.52 Every one of the kingdoms 00:34:13.55\00:34:14.88 before him was solely political." 00:34:14.92\00:34:16.75 We're going to go into this in just a few moments. 00:34:16.79\00:34:19.42 What made this kingdom different? 00:34:19.45\00:34:21.89 Let's go to question number six. 00:34:21.92\00:34:24.99 Let's go to question number six. 00:34:25.03\00:34:27.90 Okay... 00:34:27.93\00:34:29.26 Here it is. 00:34:34.27\00:34:36.27 How do we know that these four beasts 00:34:36.30\00:34:40.84 represent nations and kings? 00:34:40.88\00:34:44.15 How do we know? Go to Daniel 7:17. 00:34:44.18\00:34:46.88 How do we know? Okay. 00:34:46.92\00:34:51.19 Daniel 7:17 reads as follows, 00:34:51.22\00:34:55.19 here it is, the Word of God. 00:34:55.22\00:34:57.39 "Those great beasts, which are four," together," 00:34:57.43\00:35:02.36 are four kings which arise out of the earth." 00:35:02.40\00:35:08.47 You can't have a king... 00:35:08.50\00:35:10.31 If you have a king, you have what? 00:35:10.34\00:35:11.84 Kingdom. 00:35:11.87\00:35:13.21 If you have a kingdom, you have a what? 00:35:13.24\00:35:14.58 King. 00:35:14.61\00:35:15.94 So these kingdoms, these four empires, 00:35:15.98\00:35:18.81 those words are interchangeable, 00:35:18.85\00:35:20.25 you have empires, you have kingdoms, 00:35:20.28\00:35:22.25 you have kings, and you have its entire government. 00:35:22.28\00:35:25.15 So these four empires... 00:35:25.19\00:35:26.69 One thing I want to also point out tonight, 00:35:26.72\00:35:29.16 I think I mentioned this before, 00:35:29.19\00:35:31.49 but which one is more powerful, 00:35:31.53\00:35:35.73 a lion or bear? 00:35:35.76\00:35:39.93 Which one is considered as the king of the beasts? 00:35:39.97\00:35:42.20 A lion, okay, well, that's the answer. 00:35:42.24\00:35:44.54 What you'll discover is, 00:35:44.57\00:35:48.48 and this is something that now... 00:35:48.51\00:35:50.35 What you discover is 00:35:50.38\00:35:52.11 as the kingdoms depreciate in value, 00:35:52.15\00:35:57.19 they increase in tenacity. 00:35:57.22\00:35:59.15 Now I want you to follow this 00:35:59.19\00:36:00.66 because normally we would think, 00:36:00.69\00:36:04.23 we would think 00:36:04.26\00:36:07.00 that if the Babylonian Kingdom, let me rephrase that, 00:36:07.03\00:36:10.57 if the Babylonian Kingdom 00:36:10.60\00:36:12.73 maintained its tenacity of a lion 00:36:12.77\00:36:15.37 with eagle's wings all the way through its reign, 00:36:15.40\00:36:18.31 it could never have been brought down. 00:36:18.34\00:36:20.38 So in order to bring it down, God weakened that kingdom. 00:36:20.41\00:36:24.31 God weakened its leadership. 00:36:24.35\00:36:25.68 And as you know the story 00:36:25.71\00:36:27.05 when they poured wine into the vessels of the Lord, 00:36:27.08\00:36:30.75 then the writing was thou art weighed 00:36:30.79\00:36:33.76 in the balances in what? 00:36:33.79\00:36:35.19 Found wanting, 00:36:35.22\00:36:36.56 and that kingdom was brought down 00:36:36.59\00:36:37.93 and Babylon came to its end 00:36:37.96\00:36:39.59 by the Medo-Persian Empire bringing it down 00:36:39.63\00:36:42.46 as they came under the walls 00:36:42.50\00:36:44.57 during the night of feasting and revelry 00:36:44.60\00:36:48.00 the Bible talks about. 00:36:48.04\00:36:49.67 But in Daniel 2, 00:36:49.70\00:36:52.47 you find these kingdoms are talked about once again, 00:36:52.51\00:36:55.04 but the kingdoms are talked about in the sense of metals. 00:36:55.08\00:36:58.65 Go to Daniel 2 very quickly. 00:36:58.68\00:37:01.72 They rose, we know there's lion, 00:37:01.75\00:37:03.95 the bear, and the leopard, 00:37:03.99\00:37:06.52 but we're going to see 00:37:06.55\00:37:07.89 the fourth one in a moment here. 00:37:07.92\00:37:09.26 The lion, the bear, the leopard, look at Daniel 2, 00:37:09.29\00:37:12.89 you're going to see these kingdoms 00:37:12.93\00:37:14.26 in a different light. 00:37:14.30\00:37:15.63 All right, Daniel 2, 00:37:15.66\00:37:18.60 let's go ahead and go all the way down 00:37:18.63\00:37:21.70 to Daniel 2 00:37:21.74\00:37:24.17 and verse... 00:37:24.21\00:37:29.44 I don't want to go all the way down to that verse, 00:37:29.48\00:37:31.31 verse... 00:37:31.35\00:37:32.68 Yeah, 32 is good, it's good. 00:37:35.75\00:37:37.85 That kind of gives the definition. 00:37:37.89\00:37:39.35 Let's go ahead and do that very quickly. 00:37:39.39\00:37:41.79 Verse 32, 00:37:41.82\00:37:43.16 that kind of pulls it all together, 00:37:43.19\00:37:44.59 the image that Nebuchadnezzar had a dream about. 00:37:44.63\00:37:49.16 Thirty one, let's start with 31, 00:37:49.20\00:37:50.60 "You, O king, were watching, and behold, a great image!" 00:37:50.63\00:37:54.14 Nebuchadnezzar had the dream. 00:37:54.17\00:37:56.00 "This great image, whose splendor was excellent, 00:37:56.04\00:37:58.24 stood before you, and its form was awesome." 00:37:58.27\00:38:02.81 Kids say awesome. They mean awesome. 00:38:02.84\00:38:07.32 This image's head was of what? Fine gold. 00:38:07.35\00:38:12.12 On your paper, 00:38:12.15\00:38:13.49 under question number three, next to A, 00:38:13.52\00:38:16.46 you have lion, and you have Babylon, 00:38:16.49\00:38:18.09 put also fine gold. 00:38:18.13\00:38:19.96 Let's go ahead and add that, under question three, 00:38:20.00\00:38:21.76 I want you to do that. 00:38:21.80\00:38:23.13 Put fine gold, next to lion and Babylon, all right? 00:38:23.16\00:38:28.20 That was the head. Its chest and arms of what? 00:38:28.24\00:38:33.27 Silver, put that next to 3B, which is the bear, 00:38:33.31\00:38:39.31 put Medo-Persia and put silver. 00:38:39.35\00:38:45.45 And its belly and thighs of bronze or brass, 00:38:45.49\00:38:50.09 put that next to C, 00:38:50.13\00:38:53.09 which is leopard with four heads and four wings 00:38:53.13\00:38:56.93 which is Greece, which is bronze or brass. 00:38:56.97\00:39:03.57 But now look what you're going to see, 00:39:03.61\00:39:06.07 and this is the reason I point you to this. 00:39:06.11\00:39:08.94 It's as the kingdoms lose their value, 00:39:08.98\00:39:12.68 the metals become stronger. 00:39:12.71\00:39:15.35 Starts with gold 00:39:15.38\00:39:16.72 which is the softest of the metals 00:39:16.75\00:39:18.09 if you look at these four categories. 00:39:18.12\00:39:19.99 Gold is softer than silver, 00:39:20.02\00:39:22.49 silver is softer than bronze or brass, 00:39:22.52\00:39:25.66 and brass is softer than the fourth one. 00:39:25.69\00:39:28.03 Let's look at verse 33. 00:39:28.06\00:39:30.23 "Its legs of," what? 00:39:30.27\00:39:33.13 "Iron, its feet partly of," what? 00:39:33.17\00:39:36.67 "Iron and partly of," what? 00:39:36.71\00:39:38.11 "Clay." 00:39:38.14\00:39:39.47 Okay, so now we have the fourth beast, 00:39:39.51\00:39:42.84 the fourth beast is of what? 00:39:42.88\00:39:47.05 Say it again, it's of what? 00:39:47.08\00:39:48.68 Iron. Iron. 00:39:48.72\00:39:50.05 Legs of iron. 00:39:50.09\00:39:52.12 So the legs in this image represents 00:39:52.15\00:39:54.29 that fourth kingdom. 00:39:54.32\00:39:55.99 Legs of iron, 00:39:56.02\00:39:57.36 which one is stronger, iron or gold? 00:39:57.39\00:39:58.73 I want to get this repetitiously, 00:39:58.76\00:40:00.10 which one is stronger, iron or gold? 00:40:00.13\00:40:01.46 You could take iron 00:40:01.50\00:40:02.83 and break brass, silver, and gold. 00:40:02.86\00:40:05.43 You can pulverize it. 00:40:05.47\00:40:08.30 And that's exactly 00:40:08.34\00:40:09.67 what the Bible said in the last question, 00:40:09.70\00:40:11.51 Rome was going to do, 00:40:11.54\00:40:12.87 it was going to pulverize the earth. 00:40:12.91\00:40:15.74 It was going to trample it down and break it in pieces. 00:40:15.78\00:40:18.91 Go to question number seven, 00:40:18.95\00:40:20.92 let's look at this, all right? 00:40:20.95\00:40:25.72 And by the way, 00:40:25.75\00:40:27.09 when we go and describe the fourth beast 00:40:27.12\00:40:29.09 in Daniel 7 in a moment here, 00:40:29.12\00:40:31.19 we're going to see 00:40:31.23\00:40:32.56 that this fourth beast is totally synonymous 00:40:32.59\00:40:36.40 with the fourth metal 00:40:36.43\00:40:39.00 that Nebuchadnezzar dreamed about, 00:40:39.03\00:40:41.20 the fourth metal in that great image 00:40:41.24\00:40:44.11 that Nebuchadnezzar had the vision about. 00:40:44.14\00:40:45.87 All right? 00:40:45.91\00:40:47.24 Here it is, question number seven. 00:40:47.28\00:40:49.68 Until what time 00:40:49.71\00:40:51.41 will the fourth kingdom be allowed to reign? 00:40:51.45\00:40:54.78 Until what time 00:40:54.82\00:40:56.15 will the fourth kingdom be allowed to reign? 00:40:56.18\00:40:59.69 All right, let's go to Daniel 7:21 00:40:59.72\00:41:02.36 and 22 to look for the answer. 00:41:02.39\00:41:04.83 Are you all ready? 00:41:04.86\00:41:06.19 Here we are, Daniel 7:21 and 22, the Bible says, 00:41:06.23\00:41:09.63 "I was watching, and the same horn," 00:41:09.66\00:41:14.14 the same what? 00:41:14.17\00:41:15.57 Horn, you want to remember 00:41:15.60\00:41:16.94 that because that comes up later on in our study. 00:41:16.97\00:41:19.61 "The same horn was making war 00:41:19.64\00:41:23.58 against the saints, and," what? 00:41:23.61\00:41:26.08 "Prevailing against them." 00:41:26.11\00:41:27.98 But I praise God 00:41:28.02\00:41:29.35 that the verse doesn't end there, 00:41:29.38\00:41:30.72 because the next word is what? 00:41:30.75\00:41:32.09 "Until the Ancient of Days came, 00:41:32.12\00:41:35.36 and a judgment was made in favor of the saints 00:41:35.39\00:41:39.09 of the Most High, 00:41:39.13\00:41:41.26 and the time came 00:41:41.30\00:41:42.63 for the saints to possess the kingdom." 00:41:42.66\00:41:44.90 Now as you look at that, write the answer down, 00:41:44.93\00:41:48.17 until what time 00:41:48.20\00:41:50.01 will the fourth kingdom be allowed to reign? 00:41:50.04\00:41:54.98 Until when? Ancient of Days. 00:41:55.01\00:41:57.45 And what is that? 00:41:57.48\00:41:59.21 Thank you, and what is it called 00:41:59.25\00:42:02.12 when the saints posses the kingdom? 00:42:02.15\00:42:03.59 When is that going to happen? 00:42:03.62\00:42:05.29 At the second coming of Christ. 00:42:05.32\00:42:07.42 From the time 00:42:07.46\00:42:08.79 it was established in the days of antiquity, 00:42:08.82\00:42:11.36 until the saints possessed the kingdom, 00:42:11.39\00:42:13.63 this fourth beast will be allowed to reign, 00:42:13.66\00:42:17.37 until judgment was made in favor of the saints. 00:42:17.40\00:42:21.40 Are we living in the time of the judgment, yes or no? 00:42:21.44\00:42:23.27 Yes. 00:42:23.30\00:42:24.64 So before the verdict or judgment goes forth, 00:42:24.67\00:42:27.84 this kingdom will be on the God's judgment 00:42:27.88\00:42:30.48 and whatever this kingdom did 00:42:30.51\00:42:32.35 to the saints of God will come to an end 00:42:32.38\00:42:36.25 when judgment is made in the favor of the saints. 00:42:36.28\00:42:39.15 Now let me go and put this back in the proper package. 00:42:39.19\00:42:42.69 You see, in the courts of heaven, 00:42:42.72\00:42:45.46 there's a different verdict than the courts of earth. 00:42:45.49\00:42:48.46 Men say these are the laws of land, 00:42:48.50\00:42:50.67 these are the company laws, these are the policies, 00:42:50.70\00:42:53.23 you can't violate that and get anywhere. 00:42:53.27\00:42:55.30 God says, 00:42:55.34\00:42:57.11 this is the company's policy, this is God's law, 00:42:57.14\00:43:00.74 these are the laws of heaven. 00:43:00.78\00:43:02.91 You can't violate those and get anywhere. 00:43:02.94\00:43:05.61 So when you weigh it, 00:43:05.65\00:43:07.35 who comes out ahead, man or God? 00:43:07.38\00:43:09.32 God. 00:43:09.35\00:43:10.69 God always comes out ahead, and those who stand with God. 00:43:10.72\00:43:12.79 So the saints, they were... 00:43:12.82\00:43:14.66 During the Dark Ages, let me go ahead and... 00:43:14.69\00:43:16.52 We'll put this out in just a moment. 00:43:16.56\00:43:19.36 From 538 to 1798, 00:43:19.39\00:43:25.27 this fourth power was prevailing 00:43:25.30\00:43:27.34 against the saints. 00:43:27.37\00:43:28.70 Millions of Christians lost their lives 00:43:28.74\00:43:31.17 under the persecution of the Roman Empire. 00:43:31.21\00:43:33.61 I'm going to go to that in just a moment here. 00:43:33.64\00:43:34.98 I don't want go too quickly ahead of myself. 00:43:35.01\00:43:37.01 But millions of Christians lost their lives 00:43:37.05\00:43:39.58 under the persecuting power of Rome, 00:43:39.61\00:43:42.12 but there's always a line 00:43:42.15\00:43:45.75 beyond which God does not allow any power to go. 00:43:45.79\00:43:49.86 God set a line, He said, 00:43:49.89\00:43:51.23 "You can't go beyond this particular point." 00:43:51.26\00:43:53.66 But let's look at the very next question, 00:43:53.70\00:43:55.76 why did this kingdom have this kind of attitude? 00:43:55.80\00:44:00.07 Who is behind it? 00:44:00.10\00:44:01.44 Let's look at question number eight. 00:44:01.47\00:44:03.34 Why does this kingdom have this kind of attitude? 00:44:03.37\00:44:07.94 What is the power behind it? 00:44:07.98\00:44:10.11 Look at question number eight. 00:44:10.15\00:44:13.62 And the question is, 00:44:13.65\00:44:14.98 through whom was this kingdom warring 00:44:15.02\00:44:17.09 against God's people? 00:44:17.12\00:44:18.72 Through whom was this kingdom warring 00:44:18.75\00:44:21.92 against God's people? 00:44:21.96\00:44:23.29 Question number eight. Let's bring that on the screen. 00:44:23.32\00:44:27.06 Through whom was this kingdom warring against God's people? 00:44:27.10\00:44:31.17 Let's go to Revelation 12:17, 00:44:31.20\00:44:35.10 and look at what the Bible tells us 00:44:35.14\00:44:36.77 because remember this, anybody that has... 00:44:36.81\00:44:41.74 Let me say it in one of the ways 00:44:41.78\00:44:43.11 that one of our dear saints said it. 00:44:43.14\00:44:45.18 They said, "If you can see the person, 00:44:45.21\00:44:46.88 they are not your enemy, 00:44:46.92\00:44:48.68 but there is an enemy behind the person 00:44:48.72\00:44:50.59 that appears to be your enemy." 00:44:50.62\00:44:52.59 So in all these kingdoms 00:44:52.62\00:44:53.96 whenever God's people were persecuted, 00:44:53.99\00:44:56.16 there was a power behind that. 00:44:56.19\00:44:58.49 You see, the devil 00:44:58.53\00:44:59.86 doesn't like anybody who does right. 00:44:59.89\00:45:02.80 When you do what's right, 00:45:02.83\00:45:05.13 you are naturally and instantly his enemy. 00:45:05.17\00:45:09.74 Look at Revelation 12:17, 00:45:09.77\00:45:13.98 here it is, 00:45:14.01\00:45:15.34 "And the dragon was enraged with the woman..." 00:45:15.38\00:45:18.71 He was what? Enraged. 00:45:18.75\00:45:20.08 Either way, 00:45:20.12\00:45:21.45 the King James Version says wrath. 00:45:21.48\00:45:23.55 "He was enraged with the woman, 00:45:23.59\00:45:25.42 and went to make war 00:45:25.45\00:45:27.42 with the rest of her offspring..." 00:45:27.46\00:45:29.42 That's today, that's in these last days. 00:45:29.46\00:45:32.23 And who are those that he will be upset with, 00:45:32.26\00:45:34.30 let's read this together. 00:45:34.33\00:45:35.66 Are you ready here? 00:45:35.70\00:45:37.33 "Who keep the commandments of God and," what else? 00:45:37.37\00:45:41.10 "Have the testimony of Jesus Christ." 00:45:41.14\00:45:44.31 Let me go ahead and add a component here, 00:45:44.34\00:45:46.17 not only is the testimony of Jesus Christ 00:45:46.21\00:45:47.84 the Spirit of Prophecy, 00:45:47.88\00:45:49.21 but he figures 00:45:49.24\00:45:50.58 if he can war against you and shut you down, 00:45:50.61\00:45:52.01 you don't have a testimony. 00:45:52.05\00:45:54.12 The reality of it is, 00:45:54.15\00:45:55.48 if he can get you to compromise God's law, 00:45:55.52\00:45:58.02 your testimony is shot, 00:45:58.05\00:46:00.22 but because they choose not to compromise God's law, 00:46:00.26\00:46:02.59 they got a testimony. 00:46:02.62\00:46:03.96 The devil doesn't want you to have a testimony. 00:46:03.99\00:46:08.50 Go to Revelation 12, look at this. 00:46:08.53\00:46:11.87 Look at why he doesn't want you to have a testimony 00:46:11.90\00:46:14.84 because, see, people can argue with you on a lot of things 00:46:14.87\00:46:18.61 but they can't argue with you on your testimony. 00:46:18.64\00:46:21.01 Look at Revelation 12, the devil knows this, 00:46:21.04\00:46:25.41 there's nothing new, there's nothing new. 00:46:25.45\00:46:28.58 Revelation 12:11, okay, the Bible says, 00:46:28.62\00:46:34.22 speaking of the triumph of the saints, 00:46:34.26\00:46:36.59 "They overcame him by the," what? 00:46:36.62\00:46:40.00 "Blood of the Lamb and by the," what else? 00:46:40.03\00:46:43.16 "Word of their testimony, 00:46:43.20\00:46:45.97 and they did not love their lives to the death." 00:46:46.00\00:46:48.24 Now that's important, let me tell you why. 00:46:48.27\00:46:50.47 If Daniel thought, 00:46:50.51\00:46:53.01 "Am I going to be cast into the lions' den? 00:46:53.04\00:46:55.84 I'm not going out like that." 00:46:55.88\00:46:57.35 He would've easily said, 00:46:57.38\00:46:58.98 "Okay, I promise not to pray anymore." 00:46:59.01\00:47:01.98 But he didn't care about his life. 00:47:02.02\00:47:03.89 He said, "My life... 00:47:03.92\00:47:05.72 My life is secured in God." 00:47:05.75\00:47:08.69 I think it's Matthew 10:28, 00:47:08.72\00:47:10.36 "Fear not those who are able to kill the body, 00:47:10.39\00:47:12.49 but they cannot kill the soul. 00:47:12.53\00:47:14.10 But fear those who are able to destroy both body 00:47:14.13\00:47:16.30 and soul in hell." 00:47:16.33\00:47:17.70 The Lord says, 00:47:17.73\00:47:19.07 "They may burn you at the stake, 00:47:19.10\00:47:20.44 nail you to the cross, persecute you, kill you, 00:47:20.47\00:47:23.97 but you'll come forth in the resurrection." 00:47:24.01\00:47:25.74 Amen, somebody? 00:47:25.77\00:47:27.11 So don't fear what men can do. 00:47:27.14\00:47:29.31 God honors loyalty, but look at this, 00:47:29.34\00:47:33.25 so Daniel's testimony when... 00:47:33.28\00:47:35.78 Daniel's testimony survived the men that maligned him 00:47:35.82\00:47:40.76 because the king that knew 00:47:40.79\00:47:43.83 he had been tricked to bring about this penalty on Daniel, 00:47:43.86\00:47:47.83 that king says, 00:47:47.86\00:47:49.20 "Daniel, I understand what you're saying 00:47:49.23\00:47:51.40 about your God now, your testimony is true." 00:47:51.43\00:47:54.47 And the Hebrews, the very same thing, 00:47:54.50\00:47:56.44 when the Lord delivered them from the fiery furnace 00:47:56.47\00:47:58.67 that Nebuchadnezzar had heated seven times hotter, 00:47:58.71\00:48:01.64 Nebuchadnezzar passed a decree, 00:48:01.68\00:48:03.48 and the men that maligned the three Hebrews 00:48:03.51\00:48:05.31 were thrown into fiery furnace, 00:48:05.35\00:48:07.38 and the testimony of these Hebrews 00:48:07.42\00:48:09.82 and the testimony of Daniel resonated 00:48:09.85\00:48:12.42 through the Kingdom of Babylon 00:48:12.45\00:48:14.02 and the Kingdom of Medes and the Persians, amen? 00:48:14.06\00:48:16.62 So here's my point. 00:48:16.66\00:48:17.99 If you don't want your testimony to be killed, 00:48:18.03\00:48:20.70 remain loyal to God 00:48:20.73\00:48:24.00 'cause the devil can't kill your testimony. 00:48:24.03\00:48:25.80 So what happened? 00:48:25.83\00:48:27.44 I heard about the difficulty you went through, 00:48:27.47\00:48:29.10 what happened? 00:48:29.14\00:48:30.47 Let me tell you what happened, God is faithful. 00:48:30.51\00:48:34.04 So you know what that does? 00:48:34.08\00:48:35.48 It says to the other people, that are coming ages down, 00:48:35.51\00:48:38.51 they say, 00:48:38.55\00:48:39.88 "Hey, I heard what happened to so and so, 00:48:39.91\00:48:41.42 but I also heard what happened to those 00:48:41.45\00:48:42.78 who did such and such to so and so, 00:48:42.82\00:48:45.02 and I heard how God blessed him 00:48:45.05\00:48:46.55 or God blessed her or God blessed them." 00:48:46.59\00:48:48.99 You got to be loyal, don't worry about the results. 00:48:49.02\00:48:51.89 Your own responsibility is simply be loyal 00:48:51.93\00:48:54.90 and leave the results to God. 00:48:54.93\00:48:56.30 What do you say? Be faithful. 00:48:56.33\00:48:59.87 God isn't calling us to compromise. 00:48:59.90\00:49:02.60 As my good friend, Pastor Wintley Phipps said, 00:49:02.64\00:49:04.71 and we always resonate, 00:49:04.74\00:49:06.07 "You cannot compromise to be recognized." 00:49:06.11\00:49:09.21 Don't compromise, it doesn't work. 00:49:09.24\00:49:10.58 Question number nine, 00:49:10.61\00:49:11.95 let's see if we can get these in, 00:49:11.98\00:49:13.31 question number nine, 00:49:13.35\00:49:16.95 okay. 00:49:16.99\00:49:20.26 After the Pagan Roman Empire fell, 00:49:20.29\00:49:23.79 what power came up in its place? 00:49:23.83\00:49:27.76 Let's go to Daniel 7:8, 00:49:27.80\00:49:30.57 after the Pagan Roman Empire fell, 00:49:30.60\00:49:33.47 what power came up in its place? 00:49:33.50\00:49:38.04 Daniel 7:8, 00:49:38.07\00:49:42.68 and Daniel continues 00:49:42.71\00:49:44.31 as God gave him understanding of what would unfold, 00:49:44.35\00:49:47.95 he says, "I was considering the horns..." 00:49:47.98\00:49:51.29 These 10 horns of this beast. 00:49:51.32\00:49:54.59 "I was considering the horns, 00:49:54.62\00:49:57.46 and there was another horn," 00:49:57.49\00:50:01.03 what kind of horn? 00:50:01.06\00:50:02.53 "A little one, coming up among them, 00:50:02.56\00:50:06.10 before whom three of the first horns 00:50:06.13\00:50:08.54 were plucked out by the roots." 00:50:08.57\00:50:11.91 And then he continues, 00:50:11.94\00:50:13.34 "And there, in this horn, were eyes like," what? 00:50:13.38\00:50:18.01 "The eyes of man, and a mouth speaking," what? 00:50:18.05\00:50:22.35 "Pompous words." 00:50:22.38\00:50:24.32 Now, this is instrumental 00:50:24.35\00:50:25.79 because there were 10 kingdoms under the reign, 00:50:25.82\00:50:31.69 under the rule of the Roman Empire. 00:50:31.73\00:50:33.90 Today, they have different names. 00:50:33.93\00:50:36.00 There was the Franks, the Lombards, the Suevi, 00:50:36.03\00:50:39.63 these all have different names today, 00:50:39.67\00:50:41.34 like the English, the French, the German, 00:50:41.37\00:50:44.41 the Portuguese, the Swiss, 00:50:44.44\00:50:45.97 they have all these different modern names today. 00:50:46.01\00:50:48.84 But there were three nations 00:50:48.88\00:50:50.21 that refused to bow to the powers of Rome, 00:50:50.25\00:50:52.35 and these were the ones 00:50:52.38\00:50:53.72 that were ripped up by the roots. 00:50:53.75\00:50:55.78 When they were ripped up by the roots, 00:50:55.82\00:50:57.39 it made room for the next power to come up. 00:50:57.42\00:51:00.72 And the power that rose 00:51:00.76\00:51:02.42 in the middle of the Roman Empire, 00:51:02.46\00:51:04.59 and I want you to get this. 00:51:04.63\00:51:05.96 When the pagan empire was losing its power, 00:51:05.99\00:51:10.40 the papal empire was about to gain its power. 00:51:10.43\00:51:13.44 And there was a transition because what was the reason? 00:51:13.47\00:51:17.01 Why would the pagan empire lose its power? 00:51:17.04\00:51:19.77 Often people don't ask that question. 00:51:19.81\00:51:21.71 You see what was happening in the Roman Empire, 00:51:21.74\00:51:24.08 religion was growing so rapidly. 00:51:24.11\00:51:27.05 Christianity was proliferating so rapidly 00:51:27.08\00:51:30.12 that they try to find a way 00:51:30.15\00:51:32.45 to counteract the growth of the church. 00:51:32.49\00:51:35.56 So they couldn't do with pagan philosophies 00:51:35.59\00:51:37.69 because Christians said, "That's pagan. 00:51:37.73\00:51:39.96 I have nothing to do with it." 00:51:40.00\00:51:41.96 So they reached out to a power that was just little. 00:51:42.00\00:51:44.70 It was little at the time. It was called Catholicism. 00:51:44.73\00:51:49.07 It was tiny, it was little. 00:51:49.10\00:51:52.61 That's why it was called a little horn. 00:51:52.64\00:51:54.74 And they brought them on board with Rome, Roman Catholicism, 00:51:54.78\00:51:59.71 gave him a seat out of which he grew, 00:51:59.75\00:52:03.39 but he began little. 00:52:03.42\00:52:06.05 If you read history, 00:52:06.09\00:52:07.96 it was under the Byzantine pope that this merger took place. 00:52:07.99\00:52:12.36 Up until that point, 00:52:12.39\00:52:13.73 they had no power, but when Rome says, 00:52:13.76\00:52:15.56 "We need a religion. We don't got one. 00:52:15.60\00:52:18.13 We don't have one. We need a religion. 00:52:18.17\00:52:19.87 We got to find a way to counteract 00:52:19.90\00:52:21.24 these Christians lest 00:52:21.27\00:52:22.60 they'll take over the Roman Empire." 00:52:22.64\00:52:24.41 So they brought Rome, 00:52:24.44\00:52:25.77 so they brought Catholicism on board, 00:52:25.81\00:52:27.61 gave it its authority. 00:52:27.64\00:52:29.44 They brought Catholicism on board 00:52:29.48\00:52:31.15 and merged Rome with Catholicism, 00:52:31.18\00:52:33.31 which became Roman Catholicism. 00:52:33.35\00:52:36.82 The Roman Catholic Churches, 00:52:36.85\00:52:38.19 what we have in the world today, 00:52:38.22\00:52:40.02 and since Rome ruled the world, 00:52:40.06\00:52:42.82 the word catholic means universal. 00:52:42.86\00:52:46.39 So a universal power established 00:52:46.43\00:52:51.73 what it was hoping to be a universal church. 00:52:51.77\00:52:55.27 And today, there's not a continent 00:52:55.30\00:52:57.24 that's not touched by Catholicism. 00:52:57.27\00:52:59.81 It is universal as it was during the Dark Ages. 00:52:59.84\00:53:03.21 There was not a place untouched by Rome. 00:53:03.24\00:53:05.71 It was universal. 00:53:05.75\00:53:07.32 But now let's go to the last one 00:53:07.35\00:53:08.68 before we leave. 00:53:08.72\00:53:10.05 And I got some claims, 00:53:10.09\00:53:11.42 I don't want you to miss the next broadcast, 00:53:11.45\00:53:13.36 we have about four minutes. 00:53:13.39\00:53:14.72 But let's go to this very quick questions, 00:53:14.76\00:53:16.83 just one more question, question number ten, 00:53:16.86\00:53:18.43 we can get that in there. 00:53:18.46\00:53:19.96 All right, question ten. 00:53:20.00\00:53:21.33 How does the Bible describe the new power of Rome? 00:53:21.36\00:53:25.27 Very quickly, let's go to Daniel 7:20. 00:53:25.30\00:53:28.77 Daniel 7:20. 00:53:28.80\00:53:31.51 Okay, let's look at that very quickly. 00:53:31.54\00:53:34.28 Daniel 7:20, the Bible says, 00:53:34.31\00:53:37.38 "The ten horns that were on its head... 00:53:37.41\00:53:41.58 And the ten horns that were on its head, 00:53:41.62\00:53:44.55 and the other horn which came up, 00:53:44.59\00:53:47.49 before which three fell, namely, 00:53:47.52\00:53:51.36 that horn which had eyes and a mouth 00:53:51.39\00:53:55.66 which spoke pompous words, whose appearance was," what? 00:53:55.70\00:54:00.14 "Greater than his fellows." 00:54:00.17\00:54:02.44 Daniel is going to continue unfolding what that meant, 00:54:02.47\00:54:05.84 so get this, the horn came up little, 00:54:05.87\00:54:08.38 but now, it looks what? 00:54:08.41\00:54:10.31 Greater. 00:54:10.35\00:54:11.68 Another word for greater, as the King James Version says, 00:54:11.71\00:54:14.42 it looks more pompous. 00:54:14.45\00:54:16.25 You ever heard somebody's pompous? 00:54:16.28\00:54:17.92 Loud and loud, you know, big-mouthed person is pompous. 00:54:17.95\00:54:20.92 Lot of attitude is pompous. 00:54:20.96\00:54:22.96 It started out little, but when Daniel goes back 00:54:22.99\00:54:26.36 and looks at it, it says, 00:54:26.39\00:54:27.73 "That little one, 00:54:27.76\00:54:29.63 it's now greater than its fellows." 00:54:29.66\00:54:32.23 So it came up 00:54:32.27\00:54:33.60 while all the other nations were established 00:54:33.64\00:54:35.60 under the Roman Empire, it came up like, "Wow! 00:54:35.64\00:54:38.67 Big horns, all around me." 00:54:38.71\00:54:40.88 And as time went on, 00:54:40.91\00:54:42.98 "Wow, little horns, all around me. 00:54:43.01\00:54:45.28 I've got power over them." 00:54:45.31\00:54:47.65 And in 1565, 00:54:47.68\00:54:49.65 what gave Rome that kind of power is Rome was given... 00:54:49.68\00:54:54.49 Rome established tradition above the Bible, 00:54:54.52\00:54:59.09 so the Christian reformers could not fight, 00:54:59.13\00:55:02.73 could not successfully fight 00:55:02.76\00:55:04.17 against the rising powers of Rome 00:55:04.20\00:55:06.13 because in 1565, Pope Regio declared 00:55:06.17\00:55:09.10 that tradition is above God's word. 00:55:09.14\00:55:12.01 Therefore, whatever we say is the final say. 00:55:12.04\00:55:15.54 And in the next broadcast, 00:55:15.58\00:55:16.91 you're going to see some of the declarations, 00:55:16.95\00:55:18.48 you cannot miss it, but here is one more, 00:55:18.51\00:55:21.35 verse 24, let's hit this one. 00:55:21.38\00:55:22.95 We got about less than three minutes. 00:55:22.98\00:55:25.05 Daniel 7:24, the Bible says, 00:55:25.09\00:55:28.32 "Then ten horns... 00:55:28.36\00:55:29.69 The ten horns are ten kings 00:55:29.72\00:55:31.06 who shall arise from this kingdom. 00:55:31.09\00:55:34.36 And another shall rise after them, 00:55:34.40\00:55:37.37 he shall be," what? 00:55:37.40\00:55:38.97 "Different from the first ones, and shall," do what? 00:55:39.00\00:55:42.27 "Subdue three kings." 00:55:42.30\00:55:44.47 Now go to the next slide, we're going to wind up on this. 00:55:44.51\00:55:46.61 I'm going to show this very quickly. 00:55:46.64\00:55:48.71 The Roman Transition is the title of the next slide. 00:55:48.74\00:55:52.21 In the Roman Transition, when Papal Rome went down, 00:55:52.25\00:55:57.39 Pagan Rome replaced it. 00:55:57.42\00:56:00.49 When Pagan Rome... 00:56:00.52\00:56:02.12 When Papal Rome went down, Pagan Rome replaced it. 00:56:02.16\00:56:06.33 Papal Rome, the leadership of the popes, 00:56:06.36\00:56:10.67 replaced the leadership of the governors. 00:56:10.70\00:56:15.34 And these men were known, in their own right, 00:56:15.37\00:56:17.71 as little gods themselves. 00:56:17.74\00:56:19.61 These Roman leaders considered themselves gods. 00:56:19.64\00:56:23.55 The proof of that is today, 00:56:23.58\00:56:26.11 we have a calendar where we have July, 00:56:26.15\00:56:29.25 just what Roman Empire that represents... 00:56:29.28\00:56:32.32 What Roman Emperor that represented? 00:56:32.35\00:56:34.62 Julius. 00:56:34.66\00:56:36.52 We have also the month August that came after that, 00:56:36.56\00:56:39.86 who do you think that represents? 00:56:39.89\00:56:41.46 Augustus. 00:56:41.50\00:56:43.33 These two men were in such battlement 00:56:43.37\00:56:46.77 against each other... 00:56:46.80\00:56:48.14 So we have this thing, Thirty days hath September, 00:56:48.17\00:56:53.41 what else, how does it go? April, June, and November. 00:56:53.44\00:56:57.81 The other ones have 31, 00:56:57.85\00:56:59.91 but there's one little fledgling, 00:56:59.95\00:57:01.32 one of them that has been robbed, 00:57:01.35\00:57:03.65 what's his name? 00:57:03.69\00:57:05.12 February, how many days does February have? 00:57:05.15\00:57:07.62 Twenty eight. 00:57:07.66\00:57:08.99 Twenty eight, except for a leap year. 00:57:09.02\00:57:10.36 Now the reason why these two emperors arguing... 00:57:10.39\00:57:12.69 First Emperor Julius added an additional day to his month, 00:57:12.73\00:57:16.60 giving it 31, then Augustus said, 00:57:16.63\00:57:19.40 "No upper hand on me. 00:57:19.43\00:57:20.94 Where can we get another day? Take it from February." 00:57:20.97\00:57:23.71 It didn't change the length of the year, 00:57:23.74\00:57:25.31 still 365 days. 00:57:25.34\00:57:27.11 But these two kings in competition, 00:57:27.14\00:57:29.11 they rose as gods. 00:57:29.14\00:57:30.95 And in the Roman Empire, they were gods. 00:57:30.98\00:57:33.08 So now, this is where my transition comes, 00:57:33.11\00:57:36.62 they now established a religion, 00:57:36.65\00:57:40.56 and the same desire 00:57:40.59\00:57:41.92 they had for themselves to be Roman gods, 00:57:41.96\00:57:44.83 they now conferred upon this religious man 00:57:44.86\00:57:47.46 and set him up as another god. 00:57:47.50\00:57:50.50 You'll see in the very next broadcast 00:57:50.53\00:57:52.53 that the leader of this world wide church, 00:57:52.57\00:57:55.14 in the eyes of this world, 00:57:55.17\00:57:56.50 both politically and religiously, 00:57:56.54\00:57:58.41 assumes the role of God. 00:57:58.44\00:58:00.34 Keep studying, 00:58:00.38\00:58:01.71 one day it'll come into a sharper focus. 00:58:01.74\00:58:04.25
