Hello, and welcome
to A Sharper Focus.
00:00:19.81\00:00:22.68
My name is John Dinzey,
00:00:22.72\00:00:24.35
and it is a pleasure to
be with you during this hour.
00:00:24.39\00:00:27.42
A Sharper Focus is a
program each Wednesday
00:00:27.46\00:00:30.29
that goes deep
into a Bible study
00:00:30.33\00:00:33.56
or some portion
of the Scripture.
00:00:33.60\00:00:36.16
Normally there are handouts,
00:00:36.20\00:00:39.37
a website where you can
go and download information.
00:00:39.40\00:00:42.30
We do not have that today.
00:00:42.34\00:00:43.74
However, we
encourage you to join us
00:00:43.77\00:00:45.71
for this Bible study.
00:00:45.74\00:00:47.08
And you may want to
jot some of these down.
00:00:47.11\00:00:50.18
This is a topic that everyone
should be acquainted with.
00:00:50.21\00:00:54.48
And most of you will be familiar
00:00:54.52\00:00:56.79
with some of the scriptures
we will be sharing today.
00:00:56.82\00:00:59.45
However, we may go into an area
00:00:59.49\00:01:01.92
that may be new for some of you.
00:01:01.96\00:01:04.29
So I would like to encourage you
00:01:04.33\00:01:05.69
to stand by and
join us in this study.
00:01:05.73\00:01:08.50
And before we continue,
00:01:08.53\00:01:10.40
we'd like to go to
the Lord in prayer.
00:01:10.43\00:01:12.57
And so before we do that,
I do want to make an appeal
00:01:12.60\00:01:17.01
for those that are in the
close to the Thompsonville area,
00:01:17.04\00:01:20.51
Thompsonville, Illinois
area that watch our channel 15
00:01:20.54\00:01:24.28
or listen through 3ABN Radio
00:01:24.31\00:01:28.15
that broadcast locally.
00:01:28.18\00:01:31.49
You may join us,
00:01:31.52\00:01:32.85
you're welcome to join us
here on Wednesdays at 7 PM.
00:01:32.89\00:01:36.22
We also have
services on Saturday morning,
00:01:36.26\00:01:39.69
and Saturday afternoon.
00:01:39.73\00:01:41.06
So we encourage you
to join us for worship,
00:01:41.10\00:01:45.23
join us to praise the Lord,
00:01:45.27\00:01:46.60
join us to have prayer
and Bible study together.
00:01:46.63\00:01:49.97
So before we continue, again,
00:01:50.01\00:01:52.11
we would like to go
to the Lord in prayer.
00:01:52.14\00:01:53.61
So let's pray together.
00:01:53.64\00:01:56.14
Our loving Heavenly Father,
00:01:56.18\00:01:58.71
we thank You for
this privilege to come
00:01:58.75\00:02:00.88
before Your throne of grace.
00:02:00.92\00:02:03.39
And we come in Jesus' name.
00:02:03.42\00:02:05.99
And, Father, we
pray for Your guidance,
00:02:06.02\00:02:08.59
Your Holy Spirit to guide
us as we study this topic.
00:02:08.62\00:02:13.19
We pray, Father, for
blessing for everyone here
00:02:13.23\00:02:16.43
and those that are joining
us, whether it be as they drive,
00:02:16.46\00:02:20.54
as they do their everyday chores
00:02:20.57\00:02:23.20
in their home,
00:02:23.24\00:02:24.74
by radio, or internet or
TV, wherever they may be,
00:02:24.77\00:02:29.71
we pray that this
program will be a blessing.
00:02:29.74\00:02:31.45
So we pray that your Holy Spirit
00:02:31.48\00:02:32.85
will illuminate
their minds as well.
00:02:32.88\00:02:35.55
And we pray,
Father, for Your name
00:02:35.58\00:02:36.92
to be glorified in all things.
00:02:36.95\00:02:38.95
And we thank You
for hearing our prayer,
00:02:38.99\00:02:40.32
for we bring it to
you in Jesus' name, amen.
00:02:40.36\00:02:44.16
Amen.
00:02:44.19\00:02:45.59
Well, I'm not
very good with titles
00:02:45.63\00:02:48.93
and I also usually
like to look into the Bible
00:02:48.96\00:02:51.53
for some words that
help me with a title.
00:02:51.57\00:02:54.57
And I would say that if
this were to have a title,
00:02:54.60\00:02:58.11
it would be "Saved by His life."
00:02:58.14\00:03:02.68
And you'll understand that
when we get to that portion.
00:03:02.71\00:03:06.88
But when we look into the Bible,
00:03:06.92\00:03:09.88
we notice right
away in Genesis Chapter 1
00:03:09.92\00:03:11.82
that God
created a perfect world,
00:03:11.85\00:03:14.42
a world that was,
wherever the eyes will lay,
00:03:14.46\00:03:19.96
would look upon,
00:03:20.00\00:03:21.33
it was beautiful
and the Bible says
00:03:21.36\00:03:23.26
that God declared
everything very good,
00:03:23.30\00:03:26.97
in so much that
it was very good.
00:03:27.00\00:03:29.57
You know, of course,
that God created Adam and Eve.
00:03:29.60\00:03:32.14
So you must come
to the conclusion
00:03:32.17\00:03:33.78
that if God said
everything was very good,
00:03:33.81\00:03:35.51
Adam and Eve
were also very good,
00:03:35.54\00:03:38.41
created very good.
00:03:38.45\00:03:39.78
All their thoughts were pure.
00:03:39.81\00:03:41.15
They were in harmony with God's,
00:03:41.18\00:03:42.85
with God and His principles.
00:03:42.88\00:03:44.39
There are two great principles
00:03:44.42\00:03:46.05
presented in the
Bible that God is love.
00:03:46.09\00:03:50.69
Amen?
00:03:50.73\00:03:52.06
The God is love,
and all who follow Him,
00:03:52.09\00:03:55.63
He expects them to love Him
00:03:55.66\00:03:57.00
with all of their
hearts, soul, mind and strength.
00:03:57.03\00:04:00.27
And He tells us that
00:04:00.30\00:04:01.64
we should love our
neighbor as ourselves.
00:04:01.67\00:04:05.01
These are the two great
principles of God's law,
00:04:05.04\00:04:07.71
the Ten Commandments,
00:04:07.74\00:04:09.54
and this is how
His universe runs.
00:04:09.58\00:04:13.65
Everywhere you go,
things are move with law,
00:04:13.68\00:04:20.29
there's law, and
without law, there's what?
00:04:20.32\00:04:23.99
Disorder, there's chaos.
00:04:24.03\00:04:26.43
So you cannot go
anywhere in this world
00:04:26.46\00:04:29.06
where there is no law.
00:04:29.10\00:04:31.63
And so we look
into the scriptures,
00:04:31.67\00:04:34.04
and we see that God
created everything very good.
00:04:34.07\00:04:36.81
Adam and Eve were very good.
00:04:36.84\00:04:38.91
And so there was
only one prohibition
00:04:38.94\00:04:41.94
that God put upon
Adam and Eve at that time.
00:04:41.98\00:04:44.48
So let's look
into Genesis 2:16-17.
00:04:44.51\00:04:49.65
And before we
read this scripture,
00:04:53.42\00:04:55.09
I'd like to say to you
00:04:55.12\00:04:56.46
that it was the
joy of Adam and Eve
00:04:56.49\00:05:01.30
to have communion
with God face to face.
00:05:01.33\00:05:04.27
This is before they sinned.
00:05:04.30\00:05:05.97
They had communion with God.
00:05:06.00\00:05:07.34
They talked with God,
00:05:07.37\00:05:08.70
they had the
privilege to ask Him questions.
00:05:08.74\00:05:10.47
And why did you
make this like this?
00:05:10.51\00:05:12.64
And what does this mean?
00:05:12.67\00:05:14.54
And it was
magnificent opportunity
00:05:14.58\00:05:16.98
for them to have
communion with God.
00:05:17.01\00:05:19.05
How do we know that
00:05:19.08\00:05:20.42
they had this face
to face communication?
00:05:20.45\00:05:22.95
We're going to share
a scripture in a moment
00:05:22.98\00:05:26.05
that is, we can base that upon
00:05:26.09\00:05:28.06
and that is that
after Adam and Eve sinned,
00:05:28.09\00:05:30.93
they heard the voice of God
walking in the cool of the day.
00:05:30.96\00:05:35.36
So this was something
normal for them to experience.
00:05:35.40\00:05:39.13
However, after they sinned,
00:05:39.17\00:05:41.00
there was a
different experience for them,
00:05:41.04\00:05:42.40
and we'll look
into that in a moment.
00:05:42.44\00:05:43.84
So let's look
into Genesis 2:16-17.
00:05:43.87\00:05:47.04
And the scriptures tell us,
00:05:47.08\00:05:48.51
"And the Lord God
commanded the man, saying,
00:05:48.54\00:05:51.88
'Of every tree of the
garden thou mayest freely eat,
00:05:51.91\00:05:56.89
but of the tree of
knowledge of good and evil
00:05:56.92\00:05:59.99
thou shalt not eat of it:
00:06:00.02\00:06:01.69
for in the day
that thou eatest thereof
00:06:01.72\00:06:04.23
thou shalt," what?
00:06:04.26\00:06:05.76
"Surely die.'"
00:06:05.79\00:06:07.53
So this was the only provision
00:06:07.56\00:06:09.10
that God made of
every tree in the garden,
00:06:09.13\00:06:11.33
you may freely eat.
00:06:11.37\00:06:14.47
And so there was no
problem for Adam and Eve
00:06:14.50\00:06:17.61
obeying this commandment.
00:06:17.64\00:06:20.48
And there was no,
they felt no restraint.
00:06:20.51\00:06:23.51
They felt that their
freedom was not limited.
00:06:23.55\00:06:26.45
They could go and eat of
every tree of the garden,
00:06:26.48\00:06:28.58
and it was the joy
for them to obey God,
00:06:28.62\00:06:30.55
oh, it must not be good for us.
00:06:30.59\00:06:33.19
And so they kept
away from this tree.
00:06:33.22\00:06:34.62
Of course, you know
that in the process of time,
00:06:34.66\00:06:38.06
Satan came in
disguised as a serpent
00:06:38.09\00:06:41.06
and used the serpent
as a medium to tempt Eve.
00:06:41.10\00:06:44.73
And, of course, we know
that the scriptures reveal
00:06:44.77\00:06:47.60
that Eve ate, and
Adam ate, and they sinned.
00:06:47.64\00:06:53.41
And they now had to face
the consequences of their sin.
00:06:53.44\00:06:58.98
And so, now I invite you to go
00:06:59.01\00:07:00.72
to Genesis Chapter 3,
00:07:00.75\00:07:06.29
and this is the scripture
that I talked about before.
00:07:06.32\00:07:10.36
Genesis Chapter 3
00:07:10.39\00:07:11.73
and we're going to read verse 8.
00:07:11.76\00:07:13.50
Genesis 3:8.
00:07:13.53\00:07:18.30
Okay, these pages
are sticking together,
00:07:18.33\00:07:20.57
but we've got it,
00:07:20.60\00:07:21.94
"And they heard the
voice of the Lord God
00:07:21.97\00:07:25.07
walking in the garden
in the cool of the day,
00:07:25.11\00:07:28.04
and Adam and his
wife hid themselves
00:07:28.08\00:07:30.75
from the
presence of the Lord God
00:07:30.78\00:07:32.81
amongst the
trees of the garden."
00:07:32.85\00:07:36.22
Now, verse 9 tells us,
00:07:36.25\00:07:38.79
"And the Lord
God called unto Adam
00:07:38.82\00:07:41.56
and said unto
him, 'Where art thou?'"
00:07:41.59\00:07:44.69
So we can see
here that it was a...
00:07:44.73\00:07:48.10
We can see that
there was a custom,
00:07:48.13\00:07:49.46
we conclude
there was a custom God
00:07:49.50\00:07:51.13
came to talk to them.
00:07:51.17\00:07:52.87
But this time, He
does not find them.
00:07:52.90\00:07:57.47
And so the question
is, "Where art thou?"
00:07:57.51\00:08:03.68
So where was Adam and Eve?
00:08:03.71\00:08:05.55
The Bible says
that they hid themselves
00:08:05.58\00:08:07.88
in the trees.
00:08:07.92\00:08:09.55
Now, what we have here is
that after Adam and Eve sinned,
00:08:09.58\00:08:13.49
they began to experience things
00:08:13.52\00:08:14.96
they'd never experienced before.
00:08:14.99\00:08:18.13
Being that the case,
one of them was fear,
00:08:18.16\00:08:22.23
they never
experienced fear before.
00:08:22.26\00:08:23.97
They remember that
God said in the day
00:08:24.00\00:08:26.23
that you eat
thereof, you will what?
00:08:26.27\00:08:28.64
Die.
00:08:28.67\00:08:30.01
So they're wondering,
when is this going to happen?
00:08:30.04\00:08:31.44
How is it going to take place?
00:08:31.47\00:08:33.27
And so here God talks to them.
00:08:33.31\00:08:35.81
And we have to ask the question,
00:08:35.84\00:08:40.02
why didn't Adam and
Eve die that very day?
00:08:40.05\00:08:43.08
We cannot go through
all of the conversation
00:08:43.12\00:08:44.92
that God had with them,
00:08:44.95\00:08:46.29
but we like to point
your attention to verse 15.
00:08:46.32\00:08:49.19
God told the serpent in
the hearing of Adam and Eve,
00:08:49.22\00:08:52.56
"And I will put enmity
between thee and the woman,
00:08:52.59\00:08:56.46
and between thy
seed and her seed,
00:08:56.50\00:08:58.80
it shall bruise thy head,
00:08:58.83\00:09:00.47
and thou shalt
bruise his, "what?
00:09:00.50\00:09:04.14
"Heel."
00:09:04.17\00:09:05.51
So we have this statement by God
00:09:05.54\00:09:08.04
that really was
communicating to them hope
00:09:08.08\00:09:12.85
and that God
was extending mercy,
00:09:12.88\00:09:15.45
that the enemy would be crushed,
00:09:15.48\00:09:18.25
the head of the
serpent will be crushed,
00:09:18.29\00:09:21.09
and that the seed of the woman
00:09:21.12\00:09:23.12
would be the one to
crush the serpent's head.
00:09:23.16\00:09:26.49
And so this
brought hope to them,
00:09:26.53\00:09:27.86
and they understood that
God was extending mercy to them.
00:09:27.90\00:09:31.63
We cannot go
deeply into this right now
00:09:31.67\00:09:33.50
because we have
to move very quickly.
00:09:33.54\00:09:36.10
But the reason they didn't die
00:09:36.14\00:09:39.41
is because God
extended mercy to them.
00:09:39.44\00:09:41.84
And God already
had a plan of salvation
00:09:41.88\00:09:45.05
that at this point was revealed.
00:09:45.08\00:09:48.85
It was already in place,
00:09:48.88\00:09:50.69
instituted as soon
as Adam and Eve sinned.
00:09:50.72\00:09:55.32
I'd invite you to
turn your attention
00:09:55.36\00:09:57.46
to Revelation 13:8,
00:09:57.49\00:10:03.70
we are most interested
in the last part of verse 8
00:10:03.73\00:10:08.00
that helps us
understand something
00:10:08.04\00:10:09.90
about what we are
talking about right now.
00:10:09.94\00:10:12.31
Revelation 13, the
last book of the Bible,
00:10:12.34\00:10:14.64
and we turn to verse
8, thus it is written,
00:10:14.68\00:10:18.48
"And all that
dwell upon the earth
00:10:18.51\00:10:20.62
shall worship him,
00:10:20.65\00:10:22.68
whose names are not
written in the Book of Life."
00:10:22.72\00:10:25.09
If you read the
context, you'll know
00:10:25.12\00:10:26.65
that this is
talking about a beast.
00:10:26.69\00:10:29.99
However, the last part tells us,
00:10:30.03\00:10:31.73
"Whose names are not
written in the Book of Life
00:10:31.76\00:10:33.80
of the Lamb slain from," when?
00:10:33.83\00:10:38.40
"The foundation of the world.
00:10:38.43\00:10:40.90
"So when we look into
this scripture, we read
00:10:40.94\00:10:44.01
that from the
foundation of the world,
00:10:44.04\00:10:46.47
the Bible declares
that the Lamb was slain.
00:10:46.51\00:10:49.54
Who is this Lamb?
00:10:49.58\00:10:50.91
Remember that John the
Baptist said concerning Jesus.
00:10:50.95\00:10:54.88
"Behold the Lamb of God
00:10:54.92\00:10:56.25
who taketh away
the sin of the world."
00:10:56.28\00:10:58.02
So really, we can say
00:10:58.05\00:10:59.89
that since the Lamb was slain
00:10:59.92\00:11:01.99
from the
foundation of the world,
00:11:02.02\00:11:03.59
and that is because as
soon God had already a plan
00:11:03.63\00:11:08.13
of salvation in place,
00:11:08.16\00:11:09.83
and it is,
00:11:09.86\00:11:11.20
as if it was already done.
00:11:11.23\00:11:13.34
God looking ahead saw
that Adam and Eve would sin
00:11:13.37\00:11:16.57
and His plan was
already in place.
00:11:16.60\00:11:18.97
And it was instituted, the
moment Adam and Eve sinned.
00:11:19.01\00:11:22.94
And so Adam and
Eve did not experience
00:11:22.98\00:11:26.01
the penalty for
their sin immediately,
00:11:26.05\00:11:28.92
because God
extended mercy to them.
00:11:28.95\00:11:31.92
However, they
disconnected themselves
00:11:31.95\00:11:35.06
from the source of
life, and therefore,
00:11:35.09\00:11:39.49
they died a physical
death, such as we die now.
00:11:39.53\00:11:43.47
People have been dying
00:11:43.50\00:11:44.83
ever since sin
entered into the world,
00:11:44.87\00:11:47.27
it is not because of
their particular sins
00:11:47.30\00:11:50.11
that they are dying,
00:11:50.14\00:11:51.67
but they are dying because
man disconnected himself,
00:11:51.71\00:11:57.21
Adam and Eve from
the source of life,
00:11:57.25\00:11:59.21
which was God and
from the tree of life
00:11:59.25\00:12:02.45
which was in the Garden of Eden.
00:12:02.48\00:12:04.35
So we see here that
God extended mercy to them.
00:12:04.39\00:12:07.72
And as soon as
there was a sinner,
00:12:07.76\00:12:09.52
there was a savior.
00:12:09.56\00:12:11.49
So we ask ourselves,
00:12:11.53\00:12:12.86
what happened
then to Adam and Eve?
00:12:12.89\00:12:15.76
When they sinned,
00:12:15.80\00:12:17.50
their relationship
with God was broken.
00:12:17.53\00:12:22.14
They no longer enjoyed.
00:12:22.17\00:12:24.74
Because of sin
entering into their mind,
00:12:24.77\00:12:30.08
it corrupted them,
00:12:30.11\00:12:31.45
and they had now
a desire for things
00:12:31.48\00:12:34.25
that were not good for them.
00:12:34.28\00:12:35.85
No longer were their
thoughts always very good.
00:12:35.88\00:12:39.85
No longer were their
desires always very good.
00:12:39.89\00:12:43.49
Now, they had
evil inside their mind,
00:12:43.53\00:12:49.16
inside their flesh,
00:12:49.20\00:12:51.33
and Satan prompted
them with temptations,
00:12:51.37\00:12:56.24
so they could
continue in a downward course
00:12:56.27\00:12:59.84
to over sin and evil.
00:12:59.87\00:13:02.08
But God instituted
the plan of salvation
00:13:02.11\00:13:05.41
and took immediate action.
00:13:05.45\00:13:07.38
And this is why you have
God coming in and saying,
00:13:07.42\00:13:10.42
"You're going to have
to leave this garden."
00:13:10.45\00:13:12.12
So man, Adam and Eve had
to leave the Garden of Eden,
00:13:12.15\00:13:15.82
because there
was the tree of life
00:13:15.86\00:13:19.26
and you can read that
in the scriptures and,
00:13:19.29\00:13:22.60
but we need to understand
00:13:22.63\00:13:23.97
what happened with Adam and Eve.
00:13:24.00\00:13:25.57
Let's go to Isaiah 59:2,
00:13:25.60\00:13:28.74
if you turn quickly
00:13:28.77\00:13:30.11
because we have a lot of
scriptures to go through.
00:13:30.14\00:13:32.11
Isaiah 59:2,
00:13:32.14\00:13:35.11
notice what the Bible tells us
00:13:35.14\00:13:37.01
happens when sin or
iniquity is a part of our lives.
00:13:37.05\00:13:42.12
Isaiah 59:2 tells us,
00:13:42.15\00:13:44.12
"But your
iniquities have separated
00:13:44.15\00:13:47.69
between you and your God,
00:13:47.72\00:13:49.72
and your sins have hid His face
00:13:49.76\00:13:53.06
from you that He will not hear."
00:13:53.09\00:13:55.56
So we have here an explanation
00:13:55.60\00:13:58.33
as to what happens when people
really live according to sin.
00:13:58.37\00:14:03.51
The iniquity
separates them from God.
00:14:03.54\00:14:07.01
And notice how it says
00:14:07.04\00:14:08.58
that your sins have
hid His face from you
00:14:08.61\00:14:13.75
so that He will not hear.
00:14:13.78\00:14:16.22
But it is very interesting
the way the Bible tells us
00:14:16.25\00:14:20.32
that God loves us
with an everlasting love.
00:14:20.36\00:14:24.93
You can read that in Jeremiah.
00:14:24.96\00:14:26.73
But I want to point
out some scriptures to you
00:14:26.76\00:14:29.30
that even though it says here
that His face is hid from them,
00:14:29.33\00:14:35.14
God is very near,
because God is what?
00:14:35.17\00:14:37.74
Interested in
restoring the relationship
00:14:37.77\00:14:41.64
that was broken
and since God had said
00:14:41.68\00:14:46.95
that He will sent
His Son to die for us,
00:14:46.98\00:14:49.65
God continue to pursue
and through the Holy Spirit
00:14:49.68\00:14:55.52
direct their
thoughts toward heaven
00:14:55.56\00:14:57.79
and toward serving God.
00:14:57.83\00:14:59.76
So I would like to point you now
00:14:59.79\00:15:02.36
to a scripture that
helps us to understand that.
00:15:02.40\00:15:05.37
Now we go to the Book of Acts.
00:15:05.40\00:15:07.17
In the Book of Acts Chapter 17,
00:15:07.20\00:15:09.20
you will notice
00:15:09.24\00:15:10.64
that God does not completely
turn His back on people.
00:15:10.67\00:15:15.91
He tries to draw
them with His love,
00:15:15.94\00:15:18.21
with messages of mercy and hope.
00:15:18.25\00:15:20.58
So in Acts Chapter 17,
00:15:20.62\00:15:22.98
I like to ask you to turn
00:15:23.02\00:15:24.99
to verse 26 and 27.
00:15:25.02\00:15:31.73
Thus, it is written,
"And hath made of one blood,
00:15:31.76\00:15:33.90
all nations of men to dwell
on all the face of the earth."
00:15:33.93\00:15:39.03
It's interesting
that it says that,
00:15:39.07\00:15:40.77
when we see wars,
from place to place,
00:15:40.80\00:15:43.54
people disagreeing and
having fights and really,
00:15:43.57\00:15:46.71
we're all made of one blood.
00:15:46.74\00:15:48.94
Let's continue starting in,
00:15:48.98\00:15:50.55
"And hath made of one blood
00:15:50.58\00:15:52.75
all nations of men to dwell
on all the face of the earth,
00:15:52.78\00:15:55.82
and hath determined
the times before appointed,
00:15:55.85\00:15:58.55
and the bounds of
their habitations,
00:15:58.59\00:16:01.69
that they should seek the Lord,
00:16:01.72\00:16:04.89
if happily they
might feel after Him
00:16:04.93\00:16:07.50
and find Him, though He," what?
00:16:07.53\00:16:10.77
"Be not far from
every one of us."
00:16:10.80\00:16:14.27
So this scripture tells us
00:16:14.30\00:16:15.64
that He's not far
from every one of us.
00:16:15.67\00:16:17.84
He is near.
00:16:17.87\00:16:19.34
There are many scriptures
that communicate this.
00:16:19.37\00:16:22.98
Psalms 147 says
that God is near.
00:16:23.01\00:16:26.11
And it is powerful
to read these things.
00:16:26.15\00:16:30.45
In Psalms 119,
00:16:30.49\00:16:32.02
we also have another scripture
that tells us concerning this,
00:16:32.05\00:16:35.42
Psalm 119.
00:16:35.46\00:16:36.96
Normally when I'm
preaching in a church,
00:16:36.99\00:16:38.33
I ask people to help me
read the scriptures as well.
00:16:38.36\00:16:41.66
So I'm not the only one talking
00:16:41.70\00:16:43.03
but here you do
not have a microphone
00:16:43.06\00:16:44.40
so I'll have to do the reading.
00:16:44.43\00:16:47.24
So Isaiah, I'm sorry,
00:16:47.27\00:16:48.60
Psalm 119:151,
00:16:48.64\00:16:55.04
the Bible tells us,
00:16:55.08\00:16:56.88
"Thou art near, O Lord,
00:16:56.91\00:17:00.25
and all Thy
commandments are truth."
00:17:00.28\00:17:03.75
So we have one
scripture telling us
00:17:03.79\00:17:05.25
that He's not far
from every one of us
00:17:05.29\00:17:07.79
and it says that God is near
00:17:07.82\00:17:10.66
and so if we make a decision
00:17:10.69\00:17:15.16
to respond to God,
00:17:15.20\00:17:17.77
He's right there.
00:17:17.80\00:17:19.77
Isn't that marvelous?
00:17:19.80\00:17:21.14
The scriptures tell us,
00:17:21.17\00:17:22.50
Jesus tried to
tell us through the law,
00:17:22.54\00:17:24.11
the parable of the
lost sheep that He's the one
00:17:24.14\00:17:27.74
that goes out
looking for the lost sheep.
00:17:27.78\00:17:30.45
That's why we
have the mercy of God
00:17:30.48\00:17:34.95
extended to us.
00:17:34.98\00:17:36.42
Isn't that great?
00:17:36.45\00:17:38.22
Magnificent.
00:17:38.25\00:17:39.59
Notice, well
since we're in Psalm,
00:17:39.62\00:17:40.96
let's look another one.
00:17:40.99\00:17:42.32
Psalm 34, very
quickly, Psalm 34.
00:17:42.36\00:17:46.29
I think some of you may know
what scripture we're going to.
00:17:46.33\00:17:48.93
Psalm 34,
00:17:48.96\00:17:51.30
and we are
going to read verse 7.
00:17:51.33\00:17:54.20
Ready?
00:17:54.24\00:17:55.57
If you have it, say amen.
00:17:55.60\00:17:57.91
"The angel of the Lord
00:17:57.94\00:17:59.84
encampeth round
about them that fear Him,
00:17:59.87\00:18:03.18
and delivereth them."
00:18:03.21\00:18:05.21
Praise the Lord.
00:18:05.25\00:18:06.75
The angel of the
Lord, what does he do?
00:18:06.78\00:18:09.55
Encamp round about them
00:18:09.58\00:18:10.92
that fear him
and delivereth them.
00:18:10.95\00:18:12.69
So God is seeking to
save those that are lost,
00:18:12.72\00:18:17.29
and He does not
leave them to their sin.
00:18:17.33\00:18:22.46
There are other
scriptures that tell us,
00:18:22.50\00:18:23.83
I will never leave
you nor forsake you.
00:18:23.87\00:18:26.60
I will be with you
until the end of the world.
00:18:26.63\00:18:30.67
So it is God's desire
00:18:30.71\00:18:33.04
to reconcile us to Himself.
00:18:33.07\00:18:37.61
So when we use this
word reconcile, I say,
00:18:37.65\00:18:39.41
well, let me look up the
word in one of the dictionaries
00:18:39.45\00:18:41.72
to see what it tells us.
00:18:41.75\00:18:43.75
To be reconcile means
00:18:43.79\00:18:45.12
to restore to
friendship, or harmony,
00:18:45.15\00:18:49.12
to restore to
friendship or harmony.
00:18:49.16\00:18:51.09
This is the
Merriam Webster dictionary,
00:18:51.13\00:18:52.59
they gave us this definition.
00:18:52.63\00:18:54.83
So this is what God wants to do,
00:18:54.86\00:18:56.46
to restore to
friendship or harmony.
00:18:56.50\00:19:00.30
And God is the one
that takes the first step.
00:19:00.34\00:19:04.77
What do we have
in the Garden of Eden
00:19:04.81\00:19:06.17
after Adam and Eve sinned?
00:19:06.21\00:19:07.54
Do we have Adam and Eve looking?
00:19:07.58\00:19:09.21
Oh, we can't wait
till God gets here?
00:19:09.24\00:19:11.41
When He gets here,
we're going to run to Him
00:19:11.45\00:19:13.48
and say we're sorry
to please forgive us.
00:19:13.52\00:19:16.22
Do we have Adam
and Eve doing that?
00:19:16.25\00:19:18.22
What are they doing?
00:19:18.25\00:19:19.59
They're hiding from God.
00:19:19.62\00:19:22.26
See, God takes the first step
00:19:22.29\00:19:23.93
and God takes the
first step to search for us,
00:19:23.96\00:19:26.33
to seek for us, to rescue us.
00:19:26.36\00:19:29.16
And so that is why
God so loved the world
00:19:29.20\00:19:32.87
that He gave His
only begotten Son.
00:19:32.90\00:19:35.97
Amen?
00:19:36.00\00:19:37.94
So, God's desire is to
reconcile us to Himself.
00:19:37.97\00:19:42.88
When Adam and Eve sinned,
00:19:42.91\00:19:44.25
they separated
themselves from God.
00:19:44.28\00:19:46.21
They separated themselves
from the source of life,
00:19:46.25\00:19:49.15
and they sinned.
00:19:49.18\00:19:50.89
Let's look into 1 John 3:4,
00:19:50.92\00:19:56.39
and some of you know
this scripture by memory
00:19:56.42\00:19:59.06
but some of us
that have joined us,
00:19:59.09\00:20:02.93
some of the people
that have joined us
00:20:02.96\00:20:04.30
on radio, television, internet,
00:20:04.33\00:20:05.93
whatever it may
be, are not familiar.
00:20:05.97\00:20:08.07
So we are going to read it.
00:20:08.10\00:20:10.01
And that is 1 John 3:4,
00:20:10.04\00:20:12.04
"Whosoever committeth sin
transgresseth also the law,
00:20:12.07\00:20:16.11
for sin is the
transgression of the law."
00:20:16.14\00:20:19.78
So when Adam and Eve sinned,
00:20:19.81\00:20:21.15
they
transgressed the law of God,
00:20:21.18\00:20:23.52
the express command not to
eat of the tree of knowledge
00:20:23.55\00:20:26.96
of good and evil.
00:20:26.99\00:20:28.39
And so sin
separated them from God.
00:20:28.42\00:20:32.06
And the Bible declares to
us very quickly in Romans 6:23,
00:20:32.09\00:20:38.37
what does the Bible tell us?
00:20:38.40\00:20:39.73
Does anybody
know that by memory?
00:20:39.77\00:20:41.67
Anybody raise your hand.
00:20:41.70\00:20:44.54
We have a few.
00:20:44.57\00:20:46.21
Romans 6:23,
00:20:46.24\00:20:47.98
"For the wages of sin is death."
00:20:48.01\00:20:51.45
I knew that as soon
as I started reading,
00:20:51.48\00:20:52.81
some of you will
start quoting it,
00:20:52.85\00:20:54.18
"For the wages of sin is death,
00:20:54.22\00:20:57.52
"but the gift of
God is eternal life
00:20:57.55\00:21:02.69
through Jesus Christ, our Lord."
00:21:02.72\00:21:05.53
So what does God offer?
00:21:05.56\00:21:07.66
He says, "The
wages of sin is death."
00:21:07.70\00:21:09.86
So if you want the wages of sin,
00:21:09.90\00:21:12.60
that is your choice,
00:21:12.63\00:21:13.97
but if you want eternal life
00:21:14.00\00:21:15.34
that comes through Jesus Christ.
00:21:15.37\00:21:17.67
So in this scripture,
00:21:17.71\00:21:21.31
we see that God is
offering hope to us,
00:21:21.34\00:21:24.55
He wants to
reconcile us to Himself,
00:21:24.58\00:21:28.28
so that we can enjoy peace.
00:21:28.32\00:21:31.75
In Luke Chapter 19,
00:21:31.79\00:21:36.56
Jesus expresses the
desire of God and His purpose,
00:21:36.59\00:21:42.80
because God so loved the world
00:21:42.83\00:21:48.40
that He gave His
only begotten Son.
00:21:48.44\00:21:50.17
In Luke 19:10, the
scriptures tell us,
00:21:50.21\00:21:54.48
"For the Son of Man is come
00:21:54.51\00:21:58.15
to seek and to save
that which was lost."
00:21:58.18\00:22:02.68
He didn't come to condemn,
00:22:02.72\00:22:04.42
He came to seek and to
save that which was lost.
00:22:04.45\00:22:09.42
And so John 3:16
tells us that God what?
00:22:09.46\00:22:15.16
"So loved the world
00:22:15.20\00:22:17.00
"that He gave His
only begotten Son,
00:22:17.03\00:22:19.73
"that whosoever believeth in Him
00:22:19.77\00:22:21.50
should not perish, but
have everlasting life."
00:22:21.54\00:22:26.81
And this is what God wants
00:22:26.84\00:22:28.61
to restore to us, eternal life.
00:22:28.64\00:22:34.58
Are there any conditions
presented in this verse?
00:22:34.62\00:22:37.65
For God so loved the world
00:22:37.69\00:22:39.52
that He gave His
only begotten Son,
00:22:39.55\00:22:41.79
God takes the first
step, that whosoever,
00:22:41.82\00:22:44.96
nobody's
excluded, believes in Him,
00:22:44.99\00:22:48.06
is there a condition?
00:22:48.10\00:22:49.43
Yes, there is, you must
believe should not what?
00:22:49.46\00:22:53.37
Perish.
00:22:53.40\00:22:54.74
What does perish mean?
00:22:54.77\00:22:56.40
To die, to cease to exist.
00:22:56.44\00:22:58.34
So the wages of
sin are cancelled
00:22:58.37\00:23:01.61
when we believe and
give our lives to the Lord,
00:23:01.64\00:23:04.48
because Jesus
paid the price for us,
00:23:04.51\00:23:07.58
and we then have the
privilege of eternal life
00:23:07.62\00:23:10.69
through His Son, Jesus Christ.
00:23:10.72\00:23:12.99
So that is a fact
that God offers to us.
00:23:13.02\00:23:16.69
And it says,
whosoever believeth in Him
00:23:16.73\00:23:18.89
should not perish.
00:23:18.93\00:23:20.26
I'd like to remind us
00:23:20.30\00:23:23.10
that it is
written in Romans 3:23,
00:23:23.13\00:23:27.20
the Bible reveals,
00:23:33.21\00:23:34.54
for all have
sinned and come short
00:23:34.58\00:23:37.95
of the glory of God.
00:23:37.98\00:23:40.62
So nobody can say in the world
00:23:40.65\00:23:42.78
that has ever
lived on this earth,
00:23:42.82\00:23:46.99
I have no sin,
except for Jesus Christ,
00:23:47.02\00:23:53.29
for He was tempted in
all points like as we are,
00:23:53.33\00:23:55.76
yet without sin,
00:23:55.80\00:23:58.50
but the Bible declares
that the rest of the world,
00:23:58.53\00:24:02.50
the rest of every human being
00:24:02.54\00:24:04.01
that has lived upon
the world has sinned
00:24:04.04\00:24:06.37
and has come short
of the glory of God
00:24:06.41\00:24:08.71
and upon that
individual because of sin,
00:24:08.74\00:24:11.11
the wages of sin is a
part of that person's destiny
00:24:11.15\00:24:17.22
unless he chooses to believe
00:24:17.25\00:24:20.66
and chooses to
walk in God's ways.
00:24:20.69\00:24:23.49
So God wants to
reconcile us to Himself.
00:24:23.53\00:24:27.16
Notice here in Romans Chapter 7,
00:24:27.20\00:24:29.70
I like to invite
you to Romans Chapter 7,
00:24:29.73\00:24:31.83
sorry, Romans Chapter 8.
00:24:31.87\00:24:33.87
Romans Chapter 8
00:24:33.90\00:24:35.24
describes the condition
of those that are in sin.
00:24:35.27\00:24:39.21
Romans Chapter 8,
00:24:39.24\00:24:40.58
we're gonna read verse 7 and 8.
00:24:40.61\00:24:42.14
And we have the
following scripture,
00:24:42.18\00:24:43.75
"Because the carnal mind
00:24:43.78\00:24:47.38
is enmity against," what?
00:24:47.42\00:24:52.15
"Against God,
00:24:52.19\00:24:53.56
for it is not
subject to the law of God,
00:24:53.59\00:24:56.46
neither indeed can be."
00:24:56.49\00:25:02.26
However, we did not
read the verse before,
00:25:02.30\00:25:04.93
Romans 8:7.
00:25:04.97\00:25:07.77
Notice what Romans 8:7,
00:25:07.80\00:25:10.24
we understand
that the carnal mind
00:25:10.27\00:25:12.34
is at enmity at war with God
00:25:12.37\00:25:17.81
because it is not
subject to the law of God,
00:25:17.85\00:25:19.65
neither indeed can be.
00:25:19.68\00:25:21.02
But Romans 8:6 tells us,
00:25:21.05\00:25:25.45
"For to be
carnally minded is death,
00:25:25.49\00:25:30.09
but to be spiritually
minded is life and peace."
00:25:30.13\00:25:36.90
Since we are there,
00:25:36.93\00:25:38.47
let's go ahead and read verse 8.
00:25:38.50\00:25:39.83
Romans 8:8,
00:25:39.87\00:25:42.44
"So then, they
that are in the flesh
00:25:42.47\00:25:45.17
cannot please God."
00:25:45.21\00:25:47.81
So there must be a
change in the individual,
00:25:47.84\00:25:50.45
there must be a
change in the person
00:25:50.48\00:25:52.91
to go from death to life.
00:25:52.95\00:25:56.89
And God offers,
00:25:56.92\00:25:58.25
God has made provision
00:25:58.29\00:25:59.62
so that every individual
can have eternal life.
00:25:59.65\00:26:03.79
And so, God so loved the world
00:26:03.83\00:26:06.09
that He gave His
only begotten Son.
00:26:06.13\00:26:09.46
Why did Jesus come?
00:26:09.50\00:26:12.33
Let's just see
what the Bible tells us
00:26:12.37\00:26:16.27
in Matthew Chapter 1.
00:26:16.30\00:26:19.21
Part of His
mission is described there
00:26:19.24\00:26:21.38
in Matthew Chapter 1,
00:26:21.41\00:26:22.88
and we are going
to read verse 21.
00:26:22.91\00:26:25.95
Matthew 1:21.
00:26:25.98\00:26:29.58
It says, concerning
Mary, talking about Jesus,
00:26:29.62\00:26:32.95
and He, I'm sorry,
00:26:32.99\00:26:34.39
"And she shall
bring forth a Son,
00:26:34.42\00:26:37.79
and thou shall
call His name Jesus,
00:26:37.83\00:26:40.90
for He shall save His
people from their sins."
00:26:40.93\00:26:45.10
Praise the Lord.
00:26:45.13\00:26:46.63
So we have here that
the mission of Christ
00:26:46.67\00:26:49.44
was to save the
people from their sins.
00:26:49.47\00:26:52.97
So I ask, do you want
to be saved from your sin?
00:26:53.01\00:26:54.98
Do you want to be
saved from the wages of sin?
00:26:55.01\00:26:57.11
Jesus Christ is the answer.
00:26:57.15\00:26:59.55
Notice here how John
the Baptist describes it.
00:27:03.69\00:27:06.76
We already quoted it earlier.
00:27:06.79\00:27:08.46
But it's found in John 1: 29.
00:27:08.49\00:27:14.76
We could have
continued reading there
00:27:14.80\00:27:16.20
in Romans Chapter 8,
00:27:16.23\00:27:17.70
but we have to advance here.
00:27:17.73\00:27:21.54
In John 1:29,
John the Baptist says,
00:27:21.57\00:27:28.11
"The next day John
seeth Jesus coming unto him,
00:27:28.14\00:27:33.08
and saith,
'Behold, the Lamb of God,
00:27:33.11\00:27:38.72
which taketh away
the sin of the world.'"
00:27:38.75\00:27:42.59
Now that is good news.
00:27:42.62\00:27:45.09
If you have sin upon you,
00:27:45.13\00:27:48.80
Jesus Christ can
take away the sin
00:27:48.83\00:27:51.20
and when He takes away the sin,
00:27:51.23\00:27:53.57
He takes away what would
be the wages of sin from you
00:27:53.60\00:27:57.54
because He
already paid the price.
00:27:57.57\00:28:01.88
So what must we do?
00:28:01.91\00:28:03.78
We must accept
this gift of salvation
00:28:03.81\00:28:06.75
that God offers through His Son.
00:28:06.78\00:28:09.68
Romans Chapter 4,
a lot of scriptures,
00:28:09.72\00:28:13.52
a lot of
scriptures, Romans Chapter 4.
00:28:13.56\00:28:17.83
We are going to
read in Romans 4:24-25.
00:28:17.86\00:28:21.86
So if you join me there,
00:28:21.90\00:28:23.23
Romans 4:24-25.
00:28:23.26\00:28:26.57
Ready? If you are, say amen.
00:28:26.60\00:28:29.64
Okay, we have at
least two witnesses,
00:28:29.67\00:28:31.17
we read, "But for us also,
00:28:31.21\00:28:33.38
"to whom it shall be imputed,
00:28:33.41\00:28:36.24
"if we believe on
Him that raised up Jesus,
00:28:36.28\00:28:40.35
"our Lord from the dead,
00:28:40.38\00:28:42.22
"who was
delivered for our offenses,
00:28:42.25\00:28:46.35
and was raised
again for our," what?
00:28:46.39\00:28:50.09
"Justification."
00:28:50.13\00:28:54.16
Now something is
communicated to us here.
00:28:54.20\00:28:58.10
Notice that verse 25 says,
00:28:58.13\00:29:01.80
He was delivered
for our offenses.
00:29:01.84\00:29:03.94
In other words,
He died for our sins.
00:29:03.97\00:29:07.64
But why was He raised?
00:29:07.68\00:29:11.41
For our justification,
00:29:11.45\00:29:14.25
He was raised for
our justification.
00:29:14.28\00:29:15.92
A difference is made,
delivered for our offenses,
00:29:15.95\00:29:20.46
raised again for
our justification.
00:29:20.49\00:29:22.52
We're going to look
into that as we continue.
00:29:22.56\00:29:25.23
Let's move to Isaiah Chapter 53.
00:29:25.26\00:29:27.56
We need to establish
something how this took place
00:29:27.60\00:29:31.20
in the life of Christ
as He gave His life for us.
00:29:31.23\00:29:34.20
Isaiah Chapter 53
00:29:34.24\00:29:35.97
opens our eyes to understand
00:29:36.00\00:29:38.21
how Jesus took
upon Himself our sins.
00:29:38.24\00:29:42.54
And notice Isaiah
53:6, a lot of scriptures
00:29:42.58\00:29:45.91
but I see you're moving
quite quickly to find them.
00:29:45.95\00:29:49.28
Isaiah 53:6 tells us,
00:29:49.32\00:29:50.85
"All we like
sheep have gone astray,
00:29:50.89\00:29:54.79
we have turned
everyone to his own way,
00:29:54.82\00:29:58.36
and the Lord hath
laid on Him, that is Jesus,
00:29:58.39\00:30:01.33
the iniquity of us all."
00:30:01.36\00:30:04.20
What does this tell us?
00:30:04.23\00:30:07.04
That whosoever believeth
in Him shall not perish, why?
00:30:07.07\00:30:10.07
Because the Lord laid on
Jesus the iniquity of us all.
00:30:10.11\00:30:15.28
He became a perfect sacrifice
00:30:15.31\00:30:17.91
so that we can have
eternal life through Him.
00:30:17.95\00:30:22.35
What a joy it is to know that
00:30:22.38\00:30:24.25
the door of mercy is still open.
00:30:24.29\00:30:27.02
It would be horrible
to come out here and say,
00:30:27.06\00:30:29.22
the door of mercy is closed.
00:30:29.26\00:30:30.73
There's no more salvation.
00:30:30.76\00:30:32.16
If you want to be
saved, it's too late.
00:30:32.19\00:30:35.93
But we can say the
door mercy still open.
00:30:35.96\00:30:38.77
You can come to Jesus
and have your sins forgiven,
00:30:38.80\00:30:41.64
and you can have eternal life
through His Son Jesus Christ.
00:30:41.67\00:30:44.47
And I must say that
door will close someday,
00:30:44.51\00:30:47.58
the time of
opportunity will close someday.
00:30:47.61\00:30:51.05
And for some people, it
closes sooner than others.
00:30:51.08\00:30:53.62
Why is that?
00:30:53.65\00:30:54.98
Because they die
00:30:55.02\00:30:59.02
and, but they die and the
door of mercy continues open,
00:30:59.05\00:31:03.12
but the Lord...
00:31:03.16\00:31:04.73
The time will come
when the Lord will say,
00:31:04.76\00:31:07.46
it is enough.
00:31:07.50\00:31:09.30
The time has come
for that to close.
00:31:09.33\00:31:11.27
And really when God does that,
00:31:11.30\00:31:13.80
is because no
one else will accept.
00:31:13.84\00:31:16.74
The message has been presented,
00:31:16.77\00:31:19.17
every person has had
an opportunity to accept,
00:31:19.21\00:31:22.31
and all the ones
that have accepted,
00:31:22.34\00:31:25.31
that will accept, have accepted
00:31:25.35\00:31:27.75
and all the ones
that chose not to,
00:31:27.78\00:31:30.09
they have been
appealed to, but they said no.
00:31:30.12\00:31:33.56
And God has no other choice
00:31:33.59\00:31:35.26
but to say, no
one else will accept,
00:31:35.29\00:31:38.26
the door is closed.
00:31:38.29\00:31:41.13
We have in the Bible
a description of a time
00:31:41.16\00:31:45.57
when the Lord chose
to destroy this earth
00:31:45.60\00:31:49.50
because sin was
continuing at such a pace
00:31:49.54\00:31:53.74
that the Bible says
00:31:53.78\00:31:55.11
that the thoughts of man's heart
00:31:55.14\00:31:56.48
was only what?
00:31:56.51\00:31:57.85
Evil continually.
00:31:57.88\00:31:59.58
So God instructed
Noah to build an ark,
00:31:59.61\00:32:03.18
and the time came
00:32:03.22\00:32:04.55
when the door of
that ark was closed.
00:32:04.59\00:32:06.45
Noah went around preaching.
00:32:06.49\00:32:08.56
Noah went around
preaching, the Bible declares,
00:32:08.59\00:32:10.93
for about 120 years
presenting to people
00:32:10.96\00:32:16.46
that there's an
opportunity to go into this ark
00:32:16.50\00:32:18.93
and save yourself from
the flood that is to come.
00:32:18.97\00:32:22.20
The time came when
the door was locked.
00:32:22.24\00:32:26.07
And when that door was locked,
00:32:26.11\00:32:28.81
Noah could not open
the door even if he wanted.
00:32:28.84\00:32:33.05
Question, do you
think there were people
00:32:33.08\00:32:36.69
that after they
saw the water going up,
00:32:36.72\00:32:41.39
they now believe, now they see,
00:32:41.42\00:32:42.76
now they believe
00:32:42.79\00:32:44.13
that they see
the water coming up
00:32:44.16\00:32:45.53
that they started
knocking on the door,
00:32:45.56\00:32:47.26
Noah let us in,
but it was too late.
00:32:47.30\00:32:51.10
The door was locked.
00:32:51.13\00:32:53.57
And so it will be
00:32:53.60\00:32:54.94
that some people are
going to be left out.
00:32:54.97\00:32:58.87
But they all had an opportunity.
00:32:58.91\00:33:02.34
And so I like to invite you to,
00:33:02.38\00:33:05.15
the Lord laid on Jesus
the iniquity of us all,
00:33:05.18\00:33:08.85
no one needs to be lost.
00:33:08.88\00:33:11.39
Everyone can be saved,
00:33:11.42\00:33:13.42
but not everyone will
00:33:13.46\00:33:15.26
or not everyone
will decide to be saved.
00:33:15.29\00:33:17.93
Let's go to 1
Corinthians Chapter 15.
00:33:17.96\00:33:24.83
We can go a little deeper
into the crucifixion of Christ,
00:33:24.87\00:33:27.44
but right now we
must move in a direction
00:33:27.47\00:33:30.61
that will help us understand
00:33:30.64\00:33:31.97
that God is trying to
reconcile us to Himself
00:33:32.01\00:33:35.18
and what happened when
Jesus died on the cross.
00:33:35.21\00:33:41.22
Notice 1 Corinthians 15:3-4.
00:33:41.25\00:33:44.75
And he, sorry, I
started in verse 4, for...
00:33:49.96\00:33:56.30
Am I in 1 Corinthians 15?
00:33:56.33\00:33:57.67
Yes, "For I delivered unto you,
00:33:57.70\00:34:00.27
first of all that
which I also receive
00:34:00.30\00:34:02.60
how that Christ
died for our sins,
00:34:02.64\00:34:06.34
according to the scriptures."
00:34:06.37\00:34:07.88
What did Christ do?
00:34:07.91\00:34:09.24
Died for our sins.
00:34:09.28\00:34:10.61
"And that He was
buried," verse 4,
00:34:10.65\00:34:12.55
"and that He rose
again the third day,
00:34:12.58\00:34:14.85
according to the scriptures."
00:34:14.88\00:34:16.99
So we have in the Scripture,
00:34:17.02\00:34:18.35
the declaration that Christ
died for our sins, Isaiah,
00:34:18.39\00:34:21.89
we saw that the Lord laid on him
00:34:21.92\00:34:23.89
the iniquity of us all,
and He died for those sins.
00:34:23.93\00:34:30.10
And praise the Lord, He
rose again the third day.
00:34:30.13\00:34:35.40
Now that is good news.
00:34:35.44\00:34:37.41
And we're going to see
00:34:37.44\00:34:38.77
how that is
good news in a moment
00:34:38.81\00:34:41.04
because if He had
not risen from the dead,
00:34:41.08\00:34:43.71
we would be in serious trouble.
00:34:43.75\00:34:47.18
Question, did God wait
for people to get better
00:34:50.82\00:34:56.93
to show some sign of improvement
00:34:56.96\00:34:59.16
before He sent
His Son to die for us?
00:34:59.19\00:35:01.03
The God said,
00:35:01.06\00:35:02.40
"I'm going to
wait till this people
00:35:02.43\00:35:03.87
show some desire for salvation,
00:35:03.90\00:35:06.20
show some
improvement in their lives,
00:35:06.23\00:35:09.07
and then I'll send My Son.
00:35:09.10\00:35:11.01
I'm going to wait
till they are worthy
00:35:11.04\00:35:14.81
and then I'll send
My Son to die for them.
00:35:14.84\00:35:16.88
Did He do that?
00:35:16.91\00:35:18.25
Let's see what the
Bible says concerning that.
00:35:18.28\00:35:20.52
The Bible answers that
question in Romans Chapter 5,
00:35:20.55\00:35:24.65
Romans Chapter 5,
00:35:24.69\00:35:29.19
very, very powerful
chapter of the Bible,
00:35:29.22\00:35:31.99
Romans Chapter 5.
00:35:32.03\00:35:34.16
I hear some pages turning,
and some are stopping, good.
00:35:34.20\00:35:37.60
Romans Chapter 5,
let's read verses 8 and 9,
00:35:37.63\00:35:41.60
"But God
commendeth His love toward us,
00:35:41.64\00:35:45.67
in that while we
were yet sinners,
00:35:45.71\00:35:48.24
Christ died for us."
00:35:48.28\00:35:51.51
Did God wait for
us to get better?
00:35:51.55\00:35:53.82
No, while we were yet sinners,
00:35:53.85\00:35:56.25
Christ died for us.
00:35:56.28\00:35:58.89
Now, let's look at verse 9,
00:35:58.92\00:36:01.52
"Much more than being
now justified by His blood,"
00:36:01.56\00:36:06.23
how are we justified?
00:36:06.26\00:36:08.16
By His blood, notice
how the scripture reveals,
00:36:08.20\00:36:11.40
"We shall be saved
from wrath through Him."
00:36:11.43\00:36:17.11
One is past tense,
one is future tense.
00:36:17.14\00:36:22.14
We were justified by His blood,
00:36:22.18\00:36:25.01
we shall be saved
from wrath through Him.
00:36:25.05\00:36:29.35
This is why the
resurrection of Jesus Christ
00:36:29.38\00:36:32.39
is of vital importance
00:36:32.42\00:36:35.89
because if He did
not rise from the dead,
00:36:35.92\00:36:40.93
we could not be
saved from wrath.
00:36:40.96\00:36:44.73
We'll see that in a
moment a little clearer.
00:36:44.77\00:36:47.90
I'd like to invite you to go
to Hebrews Chapter 2 with me.
00:36:47.94\00:36:52.71
Hebrews Chapter 2,
00:36:52.74\00:36:56.51
in Hebrews Chapter 2,
00:36:56.54\00:37:00.52
we are going to read
verses 16 through 18.
00:37:00.55\00:37:03.15
Hebrews 2:16-18.
00:37:03.18\00:37:08.49
Already, it appears,
00:37:08.52\00:37:09.86
"So verily, he took not
on him the nature of angels,
00:37:09.89\00:37:13.86
but he took on him
the seed of Abraham.
00:37:13.90\00:37:17.13
Wherefore in all things,
00:37:17.17\00:37:18.73
it behooved Him to be
made like unto His brethren,
00:37:18.77\00:37:23.71
that he might be a merciful
00:37:23.74\00:37:26.01
and faithful
high priest in things
00:37:26.04\00:37:28.61
pertaining to God
to make reconciliation
00:37:28.64\00:37:33.31
for the sins of the
people," to make what?
00:37:33.35\00:37:36.25
Reconciliation for
the sins of the people,
00:37:36.28\00:37:39.05
"For in that he himself
has suffered being tempted,"
00:37:39.09\00:37:43.69
he is able to what?
00:37:43.73\00:37:46.19
"Sucker them or aid them
00:37:46.23\00:37:47.70
some version say
that are tempted.
00:37:47.73\00:37:50.60
The experience he had on
this earth, being tempted
00:37:50.63\00:37:57.31
makes it possible for
him to help us as well.
00:37:57.34\00:38:01.14
So we have a
scripture that tells us
00:38:01.18\00:38:03.78
that He made reconciliation
for the sins of the people.
00:38:03.81\00:38:10.25
This means the price was paid
00:38:10.29\00:38:12.35
so that we could
be reconciled to God.
00:38:12.39\00:38:16.79
Without this
sacrifice of Christ,
00:38:16.83\00:38:19.69
we could not be
reconciled to God,
00:38:19.73\00:38:22.53
because the price for our sin,
00:38:22.56\00:38:24.90
the wages for our
sin had to be paid.
00:38:24.93\00:38:28.30
Either Christ pays or you pay.
00:38:28.34\00:38:31.61
The good news is that Christ
has already paid the price.
00:38:31.64\00:38:35.84
And it's almost shocking,
00:38:35.88\00:38:38.95
amazing to see
00:38:38.98\00:38:43.72
that people
choose the wages of sin
00:38:43.75\00:38:47.12
rather than eternal life.
00:38:47.16\00:38:49.92
How long does this life last?
00:38:49.96\00:38:52.59
How long does it last?
00:38:52.63\00:38:54.43
And is it good?
00:38:54.46\00:38:56.43
For some people,
00:38:56.46\00:38:57.80
they perhaps make a lot of money
00:38:57.83\00:38:59.17
and they enjoy some things,
but some of them live in fear.
00:38:59.20\00:39:02.74
They have to have guard
dogs, they have to have alarms.
00:39:02.77\00:39:05.41
They have to have
guards guarding them
00:39:05.44\00:39:07.51
because they're afraid
00:39:07.54\00:39:08.88
somebody else is
going to take their things
00:39:08.91\00:39:10.25
or somebody's going to kill them
00:39:10.28\00:39:12.71
or kidnap their family.
00:39:12.75\00:39:14.55
And so, there's,
they really have no joy,
00:39:14.58\00:39:17.25
no lasting joy and peace,
00:39:17.29\00:39:19.32
and they live a
limited amount of time.
00:39:19.35\00:39:22.86
The majority of the
people are not rich,
00:39:22.89\00:39:25.09
and they struggle through life.
00:39:25.13\00:39:27.33
But God says,
00:39:27.36\00:39:28.76
I'm offering you eternal life
00:39:28.80\00:39:30.70
that has no end and
there's no suffering.
00:39:30.73\00:39:35.60
That's what God offers
and you say to yourself,
00:39:35.64\00:39:38.04
and you ask
yourself, why would God choose?
00:39:38.07\00:39:39.87
Why would anyone
choose something else
00:39:39.91\00:39:42.48
rather than what God offers?
00:39:42.51\00:39:44.01
It's a mystery, the
mystery of iniquity,
00:39:44.05\00:39:47.05
the mystery of evil
00:39:47.08\00:39:48.68
that enters into the
life of the individual,
00:39:48.72\00:39:51.05
and it is as if
the person is blinded.
00:39:51.09\00:39:53.79
And this is why
you see Jesus saying,
00:39:53.82\00:39:57.89
on the cross,
Lord, forgive them,
00:39:57.93\00:40:01.70
for they know not what they do.
00:40:01.73\00:40:06.53
Now, I like to point out
00:40:06.57\00:40:08.84
that it is not
just that God wants
00:40:08.87\00:40:11.31
to forgive you for your sins.
00:40:11.34\00:40:13.91
The death on the
cross makes it possible
00:40:13.94\00:40:16.28
for you to be reconciled to God.
00:40:16.31\00:40:20.65
There's a scripture
that we need to read
00:40:20.68\00:40:22.42
that helps us
understand what happens
00:40:22.45\00:40:23.79
after this
reconciliation takes place.
00:40:23.82\00:40:27.22
God not just wants,
00:40:27.26\00:40:28.79
He does not just want to
forgive me for your sins.
00:40:28.82\00:40:30.89
He wants to save you from them.
00:40:30.93\00:40:34.33
He wants to transform us.
00:40:34.36\00:40:37.37
You see when a person
gives his life to the Lord.
00:40:37.40\00:40:41.64
It's like he
enters into a new life,
00:40:41.67\00:40:45.14
a new experience.
00:40:45.17\00:40:47.21
And that individual is
a candidate for heaven.
00:40:47.24\00:40:51.58
His name is written
in the book of life,
00:40:51.61\00:40:53.58
but that name can
be taken out again.
00:40:53.62\00:40:56.28
Why?
00:40:56.32\00:40:57.65
Because if you
start serving the Lord,
00:40:57.69\00:40:59.92
You serve the Lord
one year, two years,
00:40:59.95\00:41:02.59
three and then you say,
00:41:02.62\00:41:04.36
I think I want
to do something else
00:41:04.39\00:41:06.06
and you walk away from the Lord.
00:41:06.09\00:41:08.16
And you start
living a life of sin
00:41:08.20\00:41:09.80
and you never
come back to the Lord,
00:41:09.83\00:41:11.43
should that person be saved?
00:41:11.47\00:41:14.24
No, he has walked away
from the source of life.
00:41:14.27\00:41:18.71
He has separated
himself from the Lord,
00:41:18.74\00:41:21.71
who is the source of life.
00:41:21.74\00:41:24.15
And the wages of sin
now are activated again
00:41:24.18\00:41:27.22
for that individual
00:41:27.25\00:41:30.42
and that's a sad
condition, a sad situation.
00:41:30.45\00:41:34.99
So God wants to transform us.
00:41:35.02\00:41:36.83
Let's look at some scriptures
00:41:36.86\00:41:38.19
that help us to understand that.
00:41:38.23\00:41:40.23
In Romans Chapter 6,
00:41:40.26\00:41:43.20
the Bible begins to
that we see some evidence
00:41:43.23\00:41:45.77
that the Bible tells us
that there must be a difference
00:41:45.80\00:41:48.57
between those that
are children of the Lord
00:41:48.60\00:41:52.21
and those that are evil.
00:41:52.24\00:41:53.64
Romans Chapter 6
00:41:53.68\00:41:55.24
talks about the experience
of salvation, baptism.
00:41:55.28\00:41:58.81
Romans 6:3-4.
00:41:58.85\00:42:01.42
Let's read Romans 6:3-4,
00:42:01.45\00:42:03.92
"Know ye not that so many of us
00:42:03.95\00:42:06.39
as were baptized
into Jesus Christ
00:42:06.42\00:42:09.99
were baptized into His death?
00:42:10.03\00:42:12.06
Therefore we are buried
with Him by baptism into death
00:42:12.09\00:42:16.00
that like as
Christ was raised up
00:42:16.03\00:42:18.93
from the dead by
the glory of the Father,
00:42:18.97\00:42:21.90
even so we also should
walk in newness of life."
00:42:21.94\00:42:27.84
So what is the
individual supposed to do
00:42:27.88\00:42:30.05
after he is baptized?
00:42:30.08\00:42:33.21
After he comes
up out of the water,
00:42:33.25\00:42:35.08
he is supposed to
walk in newness of life,
00:42:35.12\00:42:38.92
the old life of sin is over.
00:42:38.95\00:42:42.06
He turns his back
on that way of life
00:42:42.09\00:42:44.73
and walks in newness
of life, serving the Lord.
00:42:44.76\00:42:47.96
This is why Jesus said,
00:42:48.00\00:42:49.86
"If any man will come after Me,
00:42:49.90\00:42:52.73
let him take up
his cross," how often?
00:42:52.77\00:42:55.74
"Daily and follow Me."
00:42:55.77\00:42:57.91
So it is a daily experience
with the Lord that we need.
00:42:57.94\00:43:00.84
It is a daily experience
00:43:00.88\00:43:03.01
that keeps us
walking in newness of life.
00:43:03.04\00:43:08.38
There is a scripture
that I didn't put in my notes
00:43:08.42\00:43:12.25
that says that
we are not of them
00:43:12.29\00:43:13.99
that draw back unto perdition.
00:43:14.02\00:43:16.66
So people can draw
back unto perdition,
00:43:16.69\00:43:19.03
because you see,
00:43:19.06\00:43:20.73
God has given us
freedom of choice.
00:43:20.76\00:43:27.20
Question, once you are baptized,
00:43:27.24\00:43:30.41
is your freedom
of choice taken away?
00:43:30.44\00:43:34.54
No, you can
still choose to what?
00:43:34.58\00:43:37.51
Sin, you can
still choose to kill,
00:43:37.55\00:43:41.95
steal, commit adultery,
00:43:41.98\00:43:44.42
you can choose to disobey God,
00:43:44.45\00:43:47.86
dishonor your
parents and down the line,
00:43:47.89\00:43:49.76
you can read all of this,
all of the Ten Commandments.
00:43:49.79\00:43:52.29
You can still choose
to do those bad things.
00:43:52.33\00:43:54.83
Your choice, your freedom
of choice is still intact.
00:43:54.86\00:43:58.00
God does not take
freedom of choice from anyone
00:43:58.03\00:44:01.90
and even after you
accept Jesus Christ
00:44:01.94\00:44:04.24
as your personal
Savior, you can walk away.
00:44:04.27\00:44:09.61
But God wants you to
continue experiencing
00:44:09.64\00:44:12.41
the joy of serving Him.
00:44:12.45\00:44:15.55
When we give
ourselves to the Lord,
00:44:15.58\00:44:17.39
the sacrifice on the cross
becomes affected in our lives.
00:44:17.42\00:44:22.02
Reconciliation takes place.
00:44:22.06\00:44:24.16
You see, when Jesus
Christ died on the cross,
00:44:24.19\00:44:27.00
He worked out
reconciliation for every person.
00:44:27.03\00:44:31.47
He reconciled the
world unto Himself,
00:44:31.50\00:44:33.87
but that does not become
effective in the individual
00:44:33.90\00:44:37.27
until that person
chooses salvation.
00:44:37.31\00:44:41.94
Thee is then reconciled to God.
00:44:41.98\00:44:44.25
Let's look at some scriptures
00:44:44.28\00:44:45.61
that help us to
understand these things.
00:44:45.65\00:44:47.12
2 Corinthians Chapter 5
00:44:47.15\00:44:53.86
speaks of the new birth.
00:44:53.89\00:44:55.69
2 Corinthians 5:17-18.
00:44:55.72\00:44:58.69
Are we ready?
00:45:03.26\00:45:04.60
Let's read.
00:45:04.63\00:45:05.97
"Therefore if
any man be in Christ,
00:45:06.00\00:45:07.90
"he is a new creature:
00:45:07.94\00:45:10.31
"old things are passed away,
00:45:10.34\00:45:11.84
"behold, all
things are become new.
00:45:11.87\00:45:14.28
"And all things are of God,
00:45:14.31\00:45:15.81
"who has reconciled us
to Himself by Jesus Christ
00:45:15.84\00:45:21.45
"and hath given to us
00:45:21.48\00:45:23.18
the ministry of reconciliation."
00:45:23.22\00:45:26.35
Praise the Lord.
00:45:26.39\00:45:28.22
So we have when we
joined with the Lord,
00:45:28.26\00:45:31.43
we then have the
opportunity, the privilege
00:45:31.46\00:45:34.56
to participate in the ministry
00:45:34.60\00:45:36.77
of reconciling others, to God,
00:45:36.80\00:45:40.24
a fantastic privilege.
00:45:40.27\00:45:42.80
So when you give
your heart to the Lord,
00:45:42.84\00:45:44.54
your life to the Lord,
00:45:44.57\00:45:45.91
a work begins in
you to transform you
00:45:45.94\00:45:49.21
into the
likeness of Jesus Christ,
00:45:49.24\00:45:52.88
to change your way of thinking,
00:45:52.91\00:45:54.68
to change the way of living.
00:45:54.72\00:45:58.09
And this process
00:45:58.12\00:45:59.89
is really called sanctification.
00:45:59.92\00:46:06.83
It's a process that begins
00:46:06.86\00:46:08.20
when you give
your life to the Lord
00:46:08.23\00:46:09.60
and continues
throughout your life.
00:46:09.63\00:46:12.57
As you give
yourself to the Lord,
00:46:12.60\00:46:14.34
the Lord continues to mould
you into the likeness of Christ.
00:46:14.37\00:46:17.27
2 Corinthians 3:18 reveals
00:46:17.31\00:46:20.61
that it is as you
behold the glory of the Lord
00:46:20.64\00:46:23.78
as you behold His character,
as you behold His goodness,
00:46:23.81\00:46:26.82
a change continues to happen,
00:46:26.85\00:46:29.18
work continues to
happen in your life,
00:46:29.22\00:46:31.49
you began to take
more and more steps
00:46:31.52\00:46:33.62
closer and closer to the Lord,
00:46:33.66\00:46:35.16
closer and closer
you walk to the Lord,
00:46:35.19\00:46:37.39
until you are so
happy with the Lord
00:46:37.43\00:46:40.43
that you rather do,
00:46:40.46\00:46:42.16
you will not
rather do anything else
00:46:42.20\00:46:43.53
but serve the
Lord and follow Him
00:46:43.57\00:46:46.13
with all of your heart.
00:46:46.17\00:46:48.07
Praise the Lord for that.
00:46:48.10\00:46:50.54
So, how long does this last?
00:46:50.57\00:46:56.14
Philippians Chapter 1
talks about an ongoing process.
00:46:56.18\00:47:02.35
Philippians 1:6 tells us.
00:47:02.38\00:47:08.32
Ready?
00:47:08.36\00:47:09.69
Here we go,
00:47:09.72\00:47:11.06
"Being confident
of this very thing,
00:47:11.09\00:47:13.73
that He who hath
begun a good work in you,"
00:47:13.76\00:47:18.87
what will happen?
00:47:18.90\00:47:22.60
"Will perform
it, will complete it
00:47:22.64\00:47:24.51
until the Day of Jesus Christ."
00:47:24.54\00:47:27.38
It's an ongoing process
to change us, to mould us.
00:47:27.41\00:47:32.51
See, it's like you,
we are on probation,
00:47:32.55\00:47:36.45
to see if we're really
want to follow the Lord.
00:47:36.48\00:47:40.96
It's like you are on a probation
00:47:40.99\00:47:43.83
to see if you're going to live
according to God's principles.
00:47:43.86\00:47:47.86
Love the Lord your
God with all your heart
00:47:47.90\00:47:50.10
and your neighbor as yourself.
00:47:50.13\00:47:51.93
Because the time
will come when God says,
00:47:51.97\00:47:54.70
Okay, I'm ready to
bring my children home
00:47:54.74\00:47:57.94
and if you have in there,
00:47:57.97\00:48:00.01
thoughts of
stealing, killing, adultery,
00:48:00.04\00:48:03.98
whatever it is
00:48:04.01\00:48:05.35
that you want to continue doing,
00:48:05.38\00:48:07.22
you cannot take that to heaven,
00:48:07.25\00:48:09.05
you cannot have
that in the new earth.
00:48:09.08\00:48:10.72
You must be
willing to give that up
00:48:10.75\00:48:13.82
and God will transform you
00:48:13.86\00:48:15.29
so that your desire is
to always serve the Lord.
00:48:15.32\00:48:19.86
So it doesn't end with,
00:48:19.89\00:48:21.63
I accepted the Lord
as my Lord and Savior.
00:48:21.66\00:48:25.10
And now I am ready for heaven.
00:48:25.13\00:48:30.14
There is a fitting
up that takes place,
00:48:30.17\00:48:32.14
a process of transformation.
00:48:32.17\00:48:34.21
And let's go to some scriptures
that help us understand that,
00:48:34.24\00:48:37.15
one of them is
Romans Chapter 12.
00:48:37.18\00:48:41.98
Now somebody may say,
00:48:42.02\00:48:43.35
what about the
thief on the cross,
00:48:43.39\00:48:44.72
he didn't have
any chance to do that.
00:48:44.75\00:48:48.46
He had made a
commitment to follow the Lord.
00:48:48.49\00:48:52.46
And His desire was
to follow the Lord.
00:48:52.49\00:48:54.46
He began a process.
00:48:54.50\00:48:56.43
He began, he was
in newness of life.
00:48:56.46\00:48:59.30
He was a new
creature in Jesus Christ,
00:48:59.33\00:49:01.57
his desire was
to serve the Lord.
00:49:01.60\00:49:04.17
He already, he
right away began to do
00:49:04.21\00:49:06.57
a ministry of reconciliation
with the other thief, remember?
00:49:06.61\00:49:09.58
Do you not understand?
00:49:09.61\00:49:11.55
We are suffering
justly because of our sins,
00:49:11.58\00:49:14.02
but he has done nothing of this,
00:49:14.05\00:49:15.42
He's already being a missionary.
00:49:15.45\00:49:17.59
Romans Chapter 12 verse,
00:49:17.62\00:49:19.29
we're going to
read verse 1 and 2,
00:49:19.32\00:49:21.32
"I beseech you therefore,
brethren by the mercies of God,
00:49:21.36\00:49:23.86
that ye present your
bodies a living sacrifice,"
00:49:23.89\00:49:28.20
what kind?
00:49:28.23\00:49:29.56
"A living sacrifice,
holy, acceptable unto God,
00:49:29.60\00:49:32.73
which is your
reasonable service."
00:49:32.77\00:49:35.10
That means the very
least you can do and it says,
00:49:35.14\00:49:37.37
"And be not
conformed to this world,
00:49:37.41\00:49:40.48
but be ye transformed by
the renewing of your mind,
00:49:40.51\00:49:45.35
that you may
prove what is that good
00:49:45.38\00:49:47.32
and acceptable and
perfect will of God."
00:49:47.35\00:49:50.92
So what's
supposed to happen in us?
00:49:50.95\00:49:54.26
We are not to conform
ourselves to this world,
00:49:54.29\00:49:56.73
but we are to be transformed
by the renewing of our mind,
00:49:56.76\00:50:01.16
our minds being transformed.
00:50:01.20\00:50:04.70
So what have we to do?
00:50:04.73\00:50:06.87
Daily walk with Jesus.
00:50:06.90\00:50:09.80
Let's go to 2
Corinthians Chapter...
00:50:09.84\00:50:16.38
There are many scriptures
00:50:16.41\00:50:18.48
that we must
read, 2 Corinthians.
00:50:18.51\00:50:20.65
Did I say second or first?
00:50:20.68\00:50:22.02
Second, it's 2
Corinthians Chapter 7
00:50:22.05\00:50:25.75
and we're going to read verse 1.
00:50:25.79\00:50:28.72
Yes, here we go,
00:50:28.76\00:50:30.63
"Having
therefore these promises,
00:50:30.66\00:50:32.63
dearly beloved, let
us cleanse ourselves
00:50:32.66\00:50:37.50
from all filthiness
of the flesh and spirit,
00:50:37.53\00:50:41.40
perfecting holiness
in the fear of God."
00:50:41.44\00:50:44.97
So in this
process of sanctification,
00:50:45.01\00:50:50.95
we are to be
cooperating with God.
00:50:50.98\00:50:53.68
Because remember, Jesus said
without Me you can do nothing.
00:50:53.72\00:50:57.72
So it is a cooperation with God
00:50:57.75\00:51:02.62
that brings us
to this experience,
00:51:02.66\00:51:05.59
perfecting
holiness in the fear of God.
00:51:05.63\00:51:08.56
And it says,
cleansing ourselves,
00:51:08.60\00:51:10.50
that means putting
away evil from our lives,
00:51:10.53\00:51:13.47
so that we can walk with Christ
00:51:13.50\00:51:16.04
and He can continue that
process of transforming us
00:51:16.07\00:51:18.77
into His likeness.
00:51:18.81\00:51:21.81
Notice what Paul said, actually,
00:51:21.84\00:51:23.55
I'm just going to mention these.
00:51:23.58\00:51:25.31
We're not going to look them up,
00:51:25.35\00:51:27.08
because we'll save
some time that way.
00:51:27.12\00:51:29.35
So Ephesians 3:12 and 15.
00:51:29.38\00:51:33.39
Paul says, "I
pressed over the mark
00:51:33.42\00:51:35.06
for the prize of
the high calling of God
00:51:35.09\00:51:36.96
in Christ Jesus."
00:51:36.99\00:51:38.63
In 1 Timothy 6:12,
00:51:38.66\00:51:41.50
"We are told to fight
the good fight of faith
00:51:41.53\00:51:46.23
and lay hold on eternal life."
00:51:46.27\00:51:49.07
In 2 Peter 3:18,
00:51:49.10\00:51:53.31
we are told to grow in grace
00:51:53.34\00:51:55.81
and in the knowledge
of our Lord Jesus Christ.
00:51:55.84\00:52:00.02
So over and over
again the scriptures tell us
00:52:00.05\00:52:03.08
that we should be
cooperating with God,
00:52:03.12\00:52:05.25
that we can be
transformed into His likeness,
00:52:05.29\00:52:07.82
and perfecting holiness.
00:52:07.86\00:52:09.76
Remember, without
Jesus, you can do nothing,
00:52:09.79\00:52:12.46
we are to partner with Him
00:52:12.49\00:52:14.66
so that He can accomplish
this great work in us.
00:52:14.70\00:52:18.93
Now, you ask
yourself this question,
00:52:18.97\00:52:23.20
do those good
works do anything for us
00:52:23.24\00:52:26.34
as far as our
salvation is concerned?
00:52:26.37\00:52:29.84
No, they do not see
00:52:29.88\00:52:31.21
because it is by grace
00:52:31.25\00:52:33.31
that we are saved through faith,
00:52:33.35\00:52:35.88
not of works, lest
any man should boast.
00:52:35.92\00:52:38.32
It tells us in Ephesians 2:8.
00:52:38.35\00:52:40.72
So what about these works?
00:52:40.76\00:52:42.76
The works are a product
00:52:42.79\00:52:44.56
of your
relationship with Jesus Christ,
00:52:44.59\00:52:47.16
and they speak of the change
that has taken place in you.
00:52:47.20\00:52:51.27
It is a revealing to people
and the world, the universe
00:52:51.30\00:52:58.07
that you want to
live in God's kingdom.
00:52:58.11\00:53:01.78
Love the Lord your
God with all your heart
00:53:01.81\00:53:03.24
and your neighbor as yourself.
00:53:03.28\00:53:04.61
That's what these works do,
00:53:04.65\00:53:06.68
they have no merit as far
as salvation is concerned.
00:53:06.72\00:53:10.19
Notice what Jesus
tell some individuals.
00:53:10.22\00:53:12.99
We read that in
Matthew Chapter 7,
00:53:13.02\00:53:15.49
and we are quickly
running out of time.
00:53:15.52\00:53:17.39
Matthew Chapter 7:21-23.
00:53:17.43\00:53:20.60
Matthew Chapter 7:21-23,
00:53:20.63\00:53:25.90
"Not everyone
that saith unto Me,
00:53:25.93\00:53:27.64
'Lord, Lord,' shall enter
into the Kingdom of Heaven,
00:53:27.67\00:53:31.31
but he that doeth the will
00:53:31.34\00:53:32.84
of My Father
which is in heaven."
00:53:32.87\00:53:34.54
Who enters into heaven?
00:53:34.58\00:53:35.91
He that does the
will of the Father,
00:53:35.94\00:53:39.18
"Many will say
to Me in that day,
00:53:39.21\00:53:41.15
'Lord, have we not
prophesied in Thy name,
00:53:41.18\00:53:44.62
and in Thy name
have cast out devils,
00:53:44.65\00:53:47.22
and in Thy name done
many wonderful works?'"
00:53:47.26\00:53:51.43
What does Jesus say to them?
00:53:51.46\00:53:53.19
Verse 23,
00:53:53.23\00:53:54.56
"And then will I
profess unto them,
00:53:54.60\00:53:56.80
'I never knew you:
00:53:56.83\00:53:59.37
depart from Me, ye
that work iniquity.'"
00:53:59.40\00:54:04.14
So in other words,
00:54:04.17\00:54:05.91
it describes a class of people
00:54:05.94\00:54:07.91
that were depending on
some good works, thinking,
00:54:07.94\00:54:10.88
oh, I'm going to
heaven because of this.
00:54:10.91\00:54:13.88
But Jesus says
00:54:13.92\00:54:15.25
these individuals were
practicing evil as well.
00:54:15.28\00:54:19.65
So their minds was divided.
00:54:19.69\00:54:22.72
They were not fully committed.
00:54:22.76\00:54:24.96
They were not
following the Lord.
00:54:24.99\00:54:27.26
They were
practicing sin along the way,
00:54:27.30\00:54:30.43
but the good works they did,
00:54:30.47\00:54:32.53
did nothing for their salvation,
00:54:32.57\00:54:35.30
because they
had a divided heart.
00:54:35.34\00:54:38.27
So now we must turn
00:54:38.31\00:54:40.48
to Colossians Chapter 1.
00:54:40.51\00:54:45.18
We may have to
continue this study another day.
00:54:45.21\00:54:48.85
Because there's more to cover
00:54:48.88\00:54:50.22
and the time does not permit us.
00:54:50.25\00:54:52.65
Colossians, Colossians Chapter 1
00:54:52.69\00:54:57.39
and we're going to
read verses 19 to 23.
00:54:57.43\00:55:00.63
If you have found
it, can you say amen?
00:55:00.66\00:55:04.00
Amen. Here we go ready?
00:55:04.03\00:55:05.63
19, and not holding the Head,
00:55:05.67\00:55:08.14
from which all
the body by joints...
00:55:08.17\00:55:11.27
Am I in the right place?
00:55:11.31\00:55:13.17
No, I'm not. I'm in chapter 2.
00:55:13.21\00:55:15.24
Sorry about that.
00:55:15.28\00:55:16.61
Here we go.
00:55:16.64\00:55:18.08
Verse 19,
00:55:18.11\00:55:20.92
"For it pleased the Father
00:55:20.95\00:55:22.28
that in him should
all fullness dwell,
00:55:22.32\00:55:24.35
and having made peace
through the blood of His cross,
00:55:24.39\00:55:27.82
by Him to reconcile
all things to Himself.
00:55:27.86\00:55:30.99
By Him, I say,
whether they be things
00:55:31.03\00:55:33.53
on earth or things in heaven
00:55:33.56\00:55:35.20
and you that were
sometimes alienated
00:55:35.23\00:55:37.53
and enemies in your
mind by wicked works,
00:55:37.57\00:55:40.20
yet now hath he reconciled
in the body of his flesh,
00:55:40.24\00:55:44.27
through death, to
present you," how?
00:55:44.31\00:55:47.01
"Holy and unblamable
00:55:47.04\00:55:49.41
and unreprovable in His sight."
00:55:49.44\00:55:54.12
How can you do that?
00:55:54.15\00:55:55.48
Notice a condition
presented in verse 23.
00:55:55.52\00:55:59.05
"If you continue in the
faith grounded and settled,
00:55:59.09\00:56:05.09
and be not moved away
from the hope of the gospel,
00:56:05.13\00:56:08.80
which you have heard
and which was preached
00:56:08.83\00:56:11.33
to every creature
which is under heaven,
00:56:11.37\00:56:13.57
where of I, Paul,
am made a minister."
00:56:13.60\00:56:17.47
So you see,
00:56:17.51\00:56:19.57
Jesus Christ
reconciled us through His death.
00:56:19.61\00:56:25.51
But the process
of sanctification
00:56:25.55\00:56:27.42
continues in us,
00:56:27.45\00:56:28.78
and it is through
his life living in us
00:56:28.82\00:56:31.99
and more than that,
00:56:32.02\00:56:33.52
his ministry in the
sanctuary in heaven,
00:56:33.56\00:56:37.33
that continues the
process of salvation,
00:56:37.36\00:56:39.39
perhaps we can
read one scripture
00:56:39.43\00:56:41.50
that will help us
with that, Romans 5:10.
00:56:41.53\00:56:46.27
And so, because we're not going
to be able to complete this,
00:56:46.30\00:56:49.90
we're going to
read this scripture
00:56:49.94\00:56:51.27
and tell you to be continued.
00:56:51.31\00:56:54.21
Romans 5:10.
00:56:54.24\00:56:56.85
There's much more to talk about,
00:56:56.88\00:56:59.05
but we must read verse 10,
00:56:59.08\00:57:00.42
notice the scripture here,
00:57:00.45\00:57:02.78
"For if, when we were enemies,
00:57:02.82\00:57:05.72
we were reconciled to
God by the death of His Son,
00:57:05.75\00:57:09.62
much more, being reconciled,
00:57:09.66\00:57:12.33
we shall be saved by His," what?
00:57:12.36\00:57:15.33
"Life."
00:57:15.36\00:57:16.70
Notice, it says,
00:57:16.73\00:57:18.40
reconciled to God by
the death of his son,
00:57:18.43\00:57:21.37
past tense,
00:57:21.40\00:57:22.74
much more being
reconciled, past tense,
00:57:22.77\00:57:24.87
we shall be saved by
his life, future tense.
00:57:24.91\00:57:28.88
There's something that
was of great importance
00:57:28.91\00:57:32.18
with the resurrection of Christ
00:57:32.21\00:57:33.68
and the ministry that
He continued thereafter.
00:57:33.72\00:57:36.75
And that is,
00:57:36.79\00:57:38.12
His life of ministry
in the sanctuary in heaven
00:57:38.15\00:57:40.49
as our high priest,
00:57:40.52\00:57:42.36
so we shall be
saved by His life.
00:57:42.39\00:57:45.66
And so I will
say to you this study
00:57:45.69\00:57:47.30
is to be continued
perhaps at another time,
00:57:47.33\00:57:49.36
but remember that Jesus
Christ died for your sin.
00:57:49.40\00:57:52.60
He has
reconciled you to Himself,
00:57:52.63\00:57:55.30
accept this gift of
salvation, be reconciled to God,
00:57:55.34\00:57:59.01
cooperate with
Him and walk with Him
00:57:59.04\00:58:01.71
and He will take you to heaven.
00:58:01.74\00:58:03.08
God bless you.
00:58:03.11\00:58:04.45
