You know, there's so much
that is being taught about

what happens when a person dies.

Let me give you some examples.

Just recently, I
attended a funeral

and funerals are often the place

where error is admissible.

Where you can tell an untruth,

my mama used to raise me,

she said, "Don't
say the word lie.

It sounds too harsh."

You can tell a lie

and it seems okay at a funeral.

You can frankly misrepresent
what the Bible teaches.

And people have no choice

but to sit
there and just digest,

have you noticed that?

And I've been to
so many funerals,

just recently the
one that I was sitting at

and somebody said to me,
you know, I came a little...

We gauged our timing

and got there
about 10 or 11 minutes

after the funeral started.

And I was kind of...

I became like kind of sick
after hearing all the things

that were said by the preacher
that we're not in the Bible.

And somebody said,
"If you feel sick now,

you should have been
here in the beginning."

And I thought, man,

I'm glad I wasn't
there in the beginning.

Because it was
just, oh, it's just,

the things that were said
and the favorite scripture

in the Bible that many of
those who believe that you die

and go straight to heaven.

The favorite verse they use is,

"To be absent from the
body is..." to be what?"

Present with the
Lord." And I thought,

"Please, read the whole story."

Has nothing to do
with death at all.

And then...

then their favorite

And so, you know, he
cited a text in Revelation,

you know, "The dead in
Christ will rise first."

And so I thought
about that and I said,

"Yes, yes."

"And then we which
are alive and remain

shall be caught up together
to meet the Lord in the air."

"Yes, yes, I'm
thinking finally..."

Then he paused.

And when the
resurrection takes place,

the soul is going to come down
from heaven and join the body,

and the body and the soul
are going to go back together.

And I'm thinking, "No, no,

many Christians don't know

where this thought came from.

Many Christians wonder,

how did this ideology get
injected into Christianity.

Because it didn't
just come from nowhere,

everything that is
embraced by Christianity

and there was a
group of individuals

that followed him
called Platonists.

You know, like Lutherans
followed Martin Luther.

Well, those who
embraced the teachings of Plato

in the third
century became Platonists.

But what he did was,

Plato embraced the belief
that was taught in Egyptology.

And what he did, he
mixed his teachings,

the immortal soul,
a transcendent soul,

he mixed
Platonism with Egyptology

and inserted it into
Jewish into Jewish theology.

So by the time of Jesus,

there was a
belief that was embraced

by the Jews of his day,

it was taught in the schools

because they were
affected by the idea

at these three aspects,

and what I mean by that is,

Martha was so concerned
