Amen. 00:02:47.33\00:02:49.56 Well, we are going to be studying God's Word together 00:02:49.60\00:02:52.60 and so we like you to grab your Bible 00:02:52.63\00:02:55.27 or whatever it is that you may use 00:02:55.30\00:02:57.14 where you have the Bible 00:02:57.17\00:02:58.51 and nowadays you have electronic devices 00:02:58.54\00:03:00.48 where you have the Bible. 00:03:00.51\00:03:01.84 Well, we encourage you to open God's Word 00:03:01.88\00:03:03.24 and look at the text as we study them. 00:03:03.28\00:03:05.65 First of all, we'd like to mention that 00:03:05.68\00:03:07.12 when sin entered into the world, 00:03:07.15\00:03:09.75 it brought in death, pain, and suffering in this world 00:03:09.78\00:03:14.36 and when as soon as there was a sinner, 00:03:14.39\00:03:18.26 there was a savior 00:03:18.29\00:03:19.63 because the Bible says 00:03:19.66\00:03:21.00 that Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God slain from when? 00:03:21.03\00:03:25.63 From the foundation of the world. 00:03:25.67\00:03:28.00 So as soon as there was a sinner, 00:03:28.04\00:03:30.01 there was a savior. 00:03:30.04\00:03:31.97 And so if you join me now in Romans 6:23, 00:03:32.01\00:03:36.11 we will begin our study with this scripture. 00:03:36.14\00:03:39.81 There are going to be a lot of scriptures 00:03:39.85\00:03:41.92 that we are going to share tonight, 00:03:41.95\00:03:43.89 so we invite you to read along with us. 00:03:43.92\00:03:46.35 So Romans 6:23 has this announcement. 00:03:46.39\00:03:52.06 "For the wages of sin is death, 00:03:52.09\00:03:56.70 but the gift of God is eternal life 00:03:56.73\00:04:00.00 through Jesus Christ our Lord." 00:04:00.04\00:04:04.87 And so this scripture tells us that the wages of sin is death 00:04:04.91\00:04:09.78 and looking at the Spanish version, 00:04:09.81\00:04:12.71 because I have a Spanish parallel 00:04:12.75\00:04:15.08 and... English and Spanish. 00:04:15.12\00:04:17.72 It says, "The payment for sin is death." 00:04:17.75\00:04:22.32 And so the Bible also tells us that all have sinned 00:04:22.36\00:04:26.03 and come short of the glory of God. 00:04:26.06\00:04:28.46 That's in Romans 3:23 if you want to look that up. 00:04:28.50\00:04:31.77 So the wages of sin is death, 00:04:31.80\00:04:33.60 but notice the last part of Romans 6:23 00:04:33.64\00:04:38.54 tells us that, 00:04:38.57\00:04:40.84 "The gift of God is eternal life 00:04:40.88\00:04:45.28 through Jesus Christ our Lord." 00:04:45.31\00:04:48.12 So if Jesus Christ is your Lord and you believe in Him, 00:04:48.15\00:04:51.72 you are a candidate for eternal life. 00:04:51.75\00:04:54.32 And once again, I'd like to mention 00:04:54.36\00:04:55.82 that we're talking about eternal life, 00:04:55.86\00:04:57.83 not like we have life today, 00:04:57.86\00:05:01.30 we're talking about life without pain, 00:05:01.33\00:05:03.50 no suffering nor sickness nor death. 00:05:03.53\00:05:05.73 So we're talking about quality of eternal life. 00:05:05.77\00:05:09.84 So no one is going to come... 00:05:09.87\00:05:11.67 Once you have this gift, 00:05:11.71\00:05:13.14 once Jesus Christ and we are transformed, 00:05:13.17\00:05:16.14 the end of suffering for all of us. 00:05:16.18\00:05:18.11 Isn't that a good news? 00:05:18.15\00:05:20.02 Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. 00:05:20.05\00:05:21.72 And so let us consider the scripture John 3:16. 00:05:21.75\00:05:26.72 John 3:16 is a passage of the Bible 00:05:26.76\00:05:30.86 very well known from the Bible 00:05:30.89\00:05:33.76 and many, many people have memorized it 00:05:33.80\00:05:35.83 including songs have been written, 00:05:35.86\00:05:37.60 books have been written about John 3:16. 00:05:37.63\00:05:42.24 And so John 3:16 tells us 00:05:42.27\00:05:45.37 that, "God so loved the world, 00:05:45.41\00:05:48.88 that He gave His only begotten Son, 00:05:48.91\00:05:53.11 that whosoever believeth in Him should not..." 00:05:53.15\00:05:57.29 What? 00:05:57.32\00:05:58.65 "Perish..." There's that word perish again. 00:05:58.69\00:06:02.19 In the sense of the wages of sin is death 00:06:02.22\00:06:05.29 and so those that will not believe, 00:06:05.33\00:06:07.96 this will be the result. 00:06:08.00\00:06:09.33 If they do not believe, they will perish. 00:06:09.36\00:06:10.97 If they believe, the Bible tells us that, 00:06:11.00\00:06:13.57 "Whosoever believes in Him 00:06:13.60\00:06:15.50 should not perish but have..." What? 00:06:15.54\00:06:17.77 "Everlasting life." 00:06:17.81\00:06:19.71 So we have the God... 00:06:19.74\00:06:21.18 Even though the wages of sin is death 00:06:21.21\00:06:23.65 and we are deserving of death and all have sinned 00:06:23.68\00:06:26.35 and come short of the glory of God, 00:06:26.38\00:06:27.85 God announces 00:06:27.88\00:06:29.22 that He's willing to give us a gift 00:06:29.25\00:06:30.99 and that gift is eternal life. 00:06:31.02\00:06:33.22 What are the conditions to receive eternal life? 00:06:33.25\00:06:36.52 John 3:16 says you must believe. 00:06:36.56\00:06:41.36 And so I then ask you some questions. 00:06:41.40\00:06:44.33 Looking at this text in particular, 00:06:44.37\00:06:46.67 we must announce that it must be a belief 00:06:46.70\00:06:49.80 that is unto salvation 00:06:49.84\00:06:52.11 because the Bible announces 00:06:52.14\00:06:53.48 that the devils believe and tremble, 00:06:53.51\00:06:56.48 does that mean that because they believe, 00:06:56.51\00:06:58.58 they will be saved? 00:06:58.61\00:06:59.95 No. 00:06:59.98\00:07:01.32 If you keep reading in the Bible, 00:07:01.35\00:07:02.68 you will notice that the Bible says, 00:07:02.72\00:07:04.05 "If you love Me, keep My commandments." 00:07:04.09\00:07:06.69 Jesus says in John 14:15. 00:07:06.72\00:07:09.19 "If you love Me, keep My commandments." 00:07:09.22\00:07:11.33 You see, God goes beyond forgiving us for our sins, 00:07:11.36\00:07:15.60 He wants to rescue us from our sins 00:07:15.63\00:07:18.37 and bring us to the point where we will hate sin. 00:07:18.40\00:07:22.64 How many of you here would like to hate sin? 00:07:22.67\00:07:24.64 Would you like to hate sin? 00:07:24.67\00:07:26.01 Praise the Lord. 00:07:26.04\00:07:27.38 Jesus Christ is the only one 00:07:27.41\00:07:30.01 that can put in us a hatred for sin 00:07:30.05\00:07:32.91 because I have to let you know that yes, 00:07:32.95\00:07:36.69 Jesus Christ died on the cross for us, 00:07:36.72\00:07:39.75 but having died on the cross for us, 00:07:39.79\00:07:41.49 He wants to bring salvation to people 00:07:41.52\00:07:44.06 and eternal life to those 00:07:44.09\00:07:45.99 that are willing to live 00:07:46.03\00:07:48.20 according to the universe of God. 00:07:48.23\00:07:50.63 God... 00:07:50.67\00:07:52.13 There are two great commandments 00:07:52.17\00:07:53.74 based on the Ten Commandments, 00:07:53.77\00:07:55.74 the great Ten Commandments of God's law, 00:07:55.77\00:07:58.44 the first great commandment is, 00:07:58.47\00:07:59.97 love the Lord Your God with all of your heart, 00:08:00.01\00:08:02.11 with all of your mind, with all of your soul, 00:08:02.14\00:08:04.18 and in other words, with all of your heart. 00:08:04.21\00:08:08.95 And the second commandment is like unto it, 00:08:08.98\00:08:11.15 you will love your neighbor as yourself. 00:08:11.19\00:08:13.39 Those are the kind of people that will have eternal life 00:08:13.42\00:08:16.52 because God is not going to take people into heaven 00:08:16.56\00:08:19.49 and then into the new earth 00:08:19.53\00:08:20.90 that are willing to go around shooting people, 00:08:20.93\00:08:24.43 they have to learn to hate that. 00:08:24.47\00:08:27.47 God is not going to take people 00:08:27.50\00:08:29.04 that are going to be robbing from those 00:08:29.07\00:08:30.67 that have eternal life 00:08:30.71\00:08:32.04 or trying to find a way to commit adultery 00:08:32.07\00:08:34.28 or any of the other commandments involved. 00:08:34.31\00:08:37.08 God is going to take people to heaven 00:08:37.11\00:08:39.31 and bring them to the new earth 00:08:39.35\00:08:41.08 that are willing to be obedient. 00:08:41.12\00:08:44.69 And so these are the kind of people 00:08:44.72\00:08:46.69 that God is trying to rescue. 00:08:46.72\00:08:48.06 It's not just that you're going to be forgiven for sin... 00:08:48.09\00:08:50.06 "Wonderful, you're forgiven. 00:08:50.09\00:08:51.43 Let's go to heaven." 00:08:51.46\00:08:52.99 You see, because if you're just forgiven, 00:08:53.03\00:08:55.30 what are you going to do? 00:08:55.33\00:08:56.67 Keep doing the things you were. 00:08:56.70\00:08:58.63 God wants to work a transformation in us 00:08:58.67\00:09:02.34 and this is why the next verse is very important. 00:09:02.37\00:09:05.37 Let's go to John 1:29. 00:09:05.41\00:09:07.98 John 1:29. 00:09:08.01\00:09:11.01 If you happen to be in the Book of John, 00:09:11.05\00:09:13.82 just turn over to John verse 29. 00:09:13.85\00:09:17.35 John 1:29. 00:09:17.39\00:09:19.09 Notice what the John the Baptist announces. 00:09:19.12\00:09:24.46 "The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, 00:09:24.49\00:09:29.80 and saith, 'Behold the Lamb of God, 00:09:29.83\00:09:34.47 which taketh away the sin of the world.'" 00:09:34.50\00:09:39.44 Praise the Lord. 00:09:39.47\00:09:40.81 So what is it that John announces? 00:09:40.84\00:09:42.91 "Behold the Lamb of God 00:09:42.94\00:09:44.91 that taketh away the sin of the world." 00:09:44.95\00:09:47.08 And I like to think of the word behold, 00:09:47.12\00:09:49.58 not just as the word of a passing glance, 00:09:49.62\00:09:53.89 "Behold the Lamb of God..." 00:09:53.92\00:09:55.26 Oh, okay, I see Him. Great. 00:09:55.29\00:09:56.62 And you walk away. 00:09:56.66\00:09:57.99 No, it's behold, 00:09:58.03\00:09:59.59 continue beholding and follow the Lamb of God. 00:09:59.63\00:10:04.47 Not only this, 00:10:04.50\00:10:05.83 this verse tells us that Jesus Christ, 00:10:05.87\00:10:07.94 the Lamb of God is going to take away the sin of the world. 00:10:07.97\00:10:12.51 Not only is He going to take it away 00:10:12.54\00:10:13.91 in the sense of forgiveness, 00:10:13.94\00:10:15.58 but He wants to take the desire to sin away from us. 00:10:15.61\00:10:19.38 He wants to transform us in such a way 00:10:19.41\00:10:21.68 that we will not want to hurt people, 00:10:21.72\00:10:23.52 we will not want to hurt each other, 00:10:23.55\00:10:25.35 we will want to do good things. 00:10:25.39\00:10:27.39 And so that's what God's message is 00:10:27.42\00:10:31.53 and this is why there are many scriptures 00:10:31.56\00:10:33.43 that talk to us about this. 00:10:33.46\00:10:35.60 Romans Chapter 13 as you get to the end, 00:10:35.63\00:10:38.67 right around verse 13 or verse 11 around there, 00:10:38.70\00:10:41.14 it says that love is the fulfilling of the law. 00:10:41.17\00:10:46.04 And so you see, God loves us, He loves everyone around us, 00:10:46.07\00:10:51.01 and He doesn't want you to go around hurting those He loves. 00:10:51.05\00:10:54.72 Does that make sense? It makes sense. 00:10:54.75\00:10:56.89 So now as we look at the verse, 00:10:56.92\00:11:00.16 "Behold the Lamb of God 00:11:00.19\00:11:02.22 that taketh away the sin of the world." 00:11:02.26\00:11:04.19 Today, that does not make much sense to people. 00:11:04.23\00:11:07.46 If you say to them, "Jesus Christ the Lamb of God 00:11:07.50\00:11:10.67 that taketh away the sin of the world." 00:11:10.70\00:11:13.03 If you say that to someone 00:11:13.07\00:11:14.40 that has not read the Bible, they're kind of confused. 00:11:14.44\00:11:16.97 "What do you mean? Jesus Christ is a lamb? 00:11:17.01\00:11:19.97 What does that mean?" 00:11:20.01\00:11:21.78 To those that heard John the Baptist announce, 00:11:21.81\00:11:24.68 "Behold the Lamb of God 00:11:24.71\00:11:26.21 that taketh away the sin of the world." 00:11:26.25\00:11:28.72 Right away, they made a connection. 00:11:28.75\00:11:31.22 What was the connection? 00:11:31.25\00:11:34.26 They knew, they understood that if they sinned, 00:11:34.29\00:11:38.39 they were to bring an animal 00:11:38.43\00:11:41.10 as a sacrifice for their sins to be forgiven, 00:11:41.13\00:11:45.37 and the Bible tells us about a lamb in particular. 00:11:45.40\00:11:51.04 And when the person sinned, 00:11:51.07\00:11:53.78 they brought the animal to the priest in the sanctuary 00:11:53.81\00:11:58.21 or the temple of God 00:11:58.25\00:11:59.88 and we're thinking at this moment, 00:11:59.91\00:12:01.42 the wilderness sanctuary, 00:12:01.45\00:12:03.18 we've been studying the sanctuary 00:12:03.22\00:12:04.55 here at Thompsonville Church, 00:12:04.59\00:12:06.49 the sanctuary that had a outer court, 00:12:06.52\00:12:10.33 it had a holy place, 00:12:10.36\00:12:13.13 and then it had a most holy place. 00:12:13.16\00:12:15.26 We're not going to get too deep 00:12:15.30\00:12:16.63 into that aspect of the sanctuary. 00:12:16.67\00:12:18.73 But the people that would sin would have to bring an animal 00:12:18.77\00:12:22.30 that was completely innocent, 00:12:22.34\00:12:24.14 was not involved in the sin of the individual, 00:12:24.17\00:12:27.28 but that lamb 00:12:27.31\00:12:29.14 would take the place of the sinner. 00:12:29.18\00:12:31.95 And as you read in the Book of... 00:12:31.98\00:12:35.12 Right away from Genesis, 00:12:35.15\00:12:36.69 you notice that sacrifices are being made 00:12:36.72\00:12:39.52 for the forgiveness of sins. 00:12:39.55\00:12:41.76 Right away you notice that as soon as Adam and Eve sinned, 00:12:41.79\00:12:45.03 there was a sacrifice 00:12:45.06\00:12:47.03 because Adam and Eve after they sinned, 00:12:47.06\00:12:50.00 they clothe themselves with fig garments, 00:12:50.03\00:12:54.60 and when God came to talk to them, 00:12:54.64\00:12:59.87 He provided a better garment. 00:12:59.91\00:13:02.48 What was the better garment? 00:13:02.51\00:13:04.81 Skins of animals that had been sacrificed. 00:13:04.85\00:13:08.95 And right away after sin, 00:13:08.98\00:13:10.62 there was provision for their forgiveness made. 00:13:10.65\00:13:14.86 And this animal that was sacrificed 00:13:14.89\00:13:16.93 when Adam and Eve sinned was a symbol of the Lamb of God 00:13:16.96\00:13:22.36 that would take away the sin of the world, 00:13:22.40\00:13:24.03 that eventually would come upon the scene of human history. 00:13:24.07\00:13:28.17 So John the Baptist announces, "Behold the Lamb of God 00:13:28.20\00:13:30.77 that taketh away the sin of the world," 00:13:30.81\00:13:32.74 He's announcing something that would change history 00:13:32.77\00:13:37.21 that the Son of God had come 00:13:37.25\00:13:39.51 to take away the sin of the world. 00:13:39.55\00:13:42.42 So that... He was saying good news to them. 00:13:42.45\00:13:44.89 There is a question whether or not John the Baptist 00:13:44.92\00:13:47.02 fully understood the message 00:13:47.06\00:13:49.12 when he declared, "Behold the Lamb of God 00:13:49.16\00:13:51.99 that taketh away the sin of the world." 00:13:52.03\00:13:53.90 That's perhaps... 00:13:53.93\00:13:55.26 Some other time we may study that aspect of it. 00:13:55.30\00:13:58.00 But consider that Jesus Christ came to take away sin, 00:13:58.03\00:14:04.34 to be able to forgive sin, 00:14:04.37\00:14:06.07 and to be able to save us from death. 00:14:06.11\00:14:10.95 "The wages of sin is death," 00:14:10.98\00:14:12.75 the Bible announces in Romans 6:23. 00:14:12.78\00:14:17.25 Now let's go back to what I just described. 00:14:17.29\00:14:20.12 When a sinner sinned, 00:14:20.16\00:14:24.06 and the Bible tells us 00:14:24.09\00:14:25.63 that it is God through the Holy Spirit 00:14:25.66\00:14:28.96 that leads us to repentance and that is also a gift. 00:14:29.00\00:14:34.47 When the person responds and desires to be forgiven, 00:14:34.50\00:14:38.91 talking about the time 00:14:38.94\00:14:40.28 when the sacrifices were being offered, 00:14:40.31\00:14:42.34 and that person understood, "I must bring a lamb," 00:14:42.38\00:14:46.72 or some other animal, Leviticus Chapter 4 and on 00:14:46.75\00:14:49.32 describes to you some of the requirements. 00:14:49.35\00:14:52.85 So that person understood, 00:14:52.89\00:14:54.42 "I must bring a lamb for my sins to be forgiven." 00:14:54.46\00:14:57.23 You see, the Bible says 00:14:57.26\00:14:58.83 that without the shedding of blood, 00:14:58.86\00:15:00.90 there is no remission of sins. 00:15:00.93\00:15:04.17 Sin cannot be atoned for, 00:15:04.20\00:15:05.70 sin cannot be paid for unless there is death 00:15:05.73\00:15:09.14 because the wages of sin is death. 00:15:09.17\00:15:11.07 So either the sinner has to die 00:15:11.11\00:15:12.57 or someone in his place that is perfectly blameless 00:15:12.61\00:15:16.91 and spotless and does not have any sin. 00:15:16.95\00:15:20.38 In this case, it was an animal. 00:15:20.42\00:15:22.15 What kind of condition did the animal have to be in? 00:15:22.18\00:15:25.89 The Bible announces that the animal had to be 00:15:25.92\00:15:28.49 without spot and without blemish. 00:15:28.52\00:15:30.89 We're going to look at some scriptures 00:15:30.93\00:15:32.26 that tell us that. 00:15:32.29\00:15:33.63 The animal had to be without spot 00:15:33.66\00:15:35.13 and without blemish 00:15:35.16\00:15:37.73 because that animal was a symbol of Jesus Christ 00:15:37.77\00:15:41.40 who was going to live a perfect life 00:15:41.44\00:15:43.61 that would never sin. 00:15:43.64\00:15:45.71 So the animal had to be 00:15:45.74\00:15:47.08 without spot and without blemish. 00:15:47.11\00:15:49.58 So the person would bring, would look for the animal, 00:15:49.61\00:15:52.58 would carefully examine the animal 00:15:52.61\00:15:54.78 because that animal must comply with the conditions. 00:15:54.82\00:15:58.49 And so he examines the animal and once he finds an animal 00:15:58.52\00:16:02.82 that is without spot and without blemish, 00:16:02.86\00:16:05.96 he goes to the sanctuary to take it to the priest 00:16:05.99\00:16:10.87 because that animal must be examined 00:16:10.90\00:16:12.73 by the priest 00:16:12.77\00:16:14.10 and the priest must determine, 00:16:14.14\00:16:15.54 yes, this animal is fit to be sacrificed 00:16:15.57\00:16:21.31 to take your place 00:16:21.34\00:16:23.95 and die for you. 00:16:23.98\00:16:27.55 And once that person brought the animal 00:16:27.58\00:16:30.59 and he would then confess his sins 00:16:30.62\00:16:34.06 upon the animal by putting his hands 00:16:34.09\00:16:36.46 on the head of the animal. 00:16:36.49\00:16:38.49 This indicates a symbol or transferring of sin, 00:16:38.53\00:16:41.90 sin was moved 00:16:41.93\00:16:43.77 from the individual to the animal, 00:16:43.80\00:16:46.84 the animal was then sacrificed in his place 00:16:46.87\00:16:49.90 and would die for him. 00:16:49.94\00:16:52.97 The animal was completely innocent, 00:16:53.01\00:16:55.14 was not involved in the sin process, 00:16:55.18\00:16:57.18 he was not consulted 00:16:57.21\00:16:59.15 in whether or not the person should sin, 00:16:59.18\00:17:01.68 the animal was completely innocent. 00:17:01.72\00:17:04.62 It was a symbol of Jesus Christ 00:17:04.65\00:17:07.56 who would die for us and will live a perfect life. 00:17:07.59\00:17:10.83 So let's consider Jesus Christ the Lamb of God 00:17:10.86\00:17:15.10 that taketh away the sin of the world. 00:17:15.13\00:17:17.63 What were the steps involved in the process for the person 00:17:17.67\00:17:19.93 to be forgiven? 00:17:19.97\00:17:24.94 Upon acknowledgment of his sin, 00:17:24.97\00:17:27.94 upon being made aware of his sin by the Holy Spirit. 00:17:27.98\00:17:33.18 That person, I said, would find an animal, 00:17:33.21\00:17:36.58 bring it to the sanctuary, to the temple, 00:17:36.62\00:17:41.62 had to be without spot and without blemish, 00:17:41.66\00:17:44.66 he must confess his sins upon the animal, 00:17:44.69\00:17:47.83 then the sinner would have to kill the animal. 00:17:47.86\00:17:52.73 You see, who was responsible for the sin? 00:17:52.77\00:17:55.00 The sinner. 00:17:55.04\00:17:56.37 The sinner must be responsible for the death of the animal. 00:17:56.40\00:17:59.61 So the priest would tell him 00:17:59.64\00:18:01.24 exactly how the animal was to be killed 00:18:01.28\00:18:05.11 because there was no needless suffering 00:18:05.15\00:18:07.18 to be brought upon the animal. 00:18:07.22\00:18:09.55 So he was instructed exactly 00:18:09.58\00:18:11.95 how to use the knife to kill the lamb. 00:18:11.99\00:18:17.43 And then the blood would be used 00:18:17.46\00:18:19.23 to make an atonement for his sins. 00:18:19.26\00:18:23.00 Let's talk about Jesus, the Lamb of God 00:18:23.03\00:18:26.17 that takes away the sin of the world, 00:18:26.20\00:18:28.00 that takes away your sin. 00:18:28.04\00:18:30.07 Was He, in similar way, 00:18:30.11\00:18:32.94 examined to see whether or not 00:18:32.97\00:18:35.34 He was fit to be crucified for us? 00:18:35.38\00:18:39.15 Was He examined by the priests? 00:18:39.18\00:18:41.58 Let's look at what the Bible says, 00:18:41.62\00:18:43.45 let's analyze the scriptures. 00:18:43.49\00:18:45.32 Let's first go to Matthew 26. 00:18:45.35\00:18:48.42 Matthew 26. 00:18:48.46\00:18:50.63 And we are going to begin reading in verse 59. 00:18:50.66\00:18:54.10 Like I said, we have many scriptures 00:18:54.13\00:18:55.66 to share with you concerning these things. 00:18:55.70\00:18:58.70 We'll try to get through as many as we can. 00:18:58.73\00:19:01.50 Matthew 26, beginning in verse 59, 00:19:01.54\00:19:03.91 thus it is written, "Now the chief priests, 00:19:03.94\00:19:06.68 and elders, and all the council, 00:19:06.71\00:19:09.91 sought false witness against Jesus, 00:19:09.94\00:19:12.65 to put him to death." 00:19:12.68\00:19:14.98 For some reason that we cannot get into, 00:19:15.02\00:19:17.35 this is what they wanted to do 00:19:17.39\00:19:18.92 and it was not because they found him a fit sacrifice, 00:19:18.95\00:19:21.99 it was because they thought their nation, 00:19:22.02\00:19:24.99 their jobs were in danger. 00:19:25.03\00:19:26.90 "Now the chief priests, and elders, 00:19:26.93\00:19:28.26 and all the council, 00:19:28.30\00:19:30.20 sought false witness against Jesus, 00:19:30.23\00:19:31.57 to put him to death." 00:19:31.60\00:19:32.93 Verse 60. 00:19:32.97\00:19:34.30 "But found..." How many? 00:19:34.34\00:19:35.94 "None." 00:19:35.97\00:19:37.31 Praise the Lord. 00:19:37.34\00:19:38.74 "Yea, though many false witnesses came, 00:19:38.77\00:19:42.58 yet found they none. 00:19:42.61\00:19:44.31 At the last came two false witnesses, 00:19:44.35\00:19:47.32 and said, this fellow said, 00:19:47.35\00:19:50.02 'I am able to destroy the temple of God, 00:19:50.05\00:19:52.45 and to build it in three days.'" 00:19:52.49\00:19:55.39 So stop there for a moment 00:19:55.42\00:19:57.33 and consider that when it says they found two false witnesses, 00:19:57.36\00:20:02.63 they seem to agree it is 00:20:02.66\00:20:05.33 that the Bible says that the mouth of... 00:20:05.37\00:20:07.80 At the mouth of two or three witnesses, 00:20:07.84\00:20:09.40 everything will be established. 00:20:09.44\00:20:11.71 So in their system, 00:20:11.74\00:20:13.68 it was not just one individual that would say, 00:20:13.71\00:20:15.94 "Oh, yes, I saw that person 00:20:15.98\00:20:18.35 cut the head off of the other person." 00:20:18.38\00:20:21.02 There must be at least two witnesses. 00:20:21.05\00:20:23.28 So when the Bible says that there are two witnesses, 00:20:23.32\00:20:26.82 now they think they've got something. 00:20:26.86\00:20:28.92 Notice verse 21 again. 00:20:28.96\00:20:32.53 "And said, this fellow said, 00:20:32.56\00:20:34.13 'I am able to destroy the temple of God, 00:20:34.16\00:20:36.67 and to build it in three days.'" 00:20:36.70\00:20:39.00 Is that a crime? 00:20:39.03\00:20:41.27 No. 00:20:41.30\00:20:43.44 Verse 62. 00:20:43.47\00:20:44.81 "And the high priest arose, and said unto him, 00:20:44.84\00:20:47.64 Answerest thou nothing? 00:20:47.68\00:20:49.01 What is it that these witness against thee? 00:20:49.04\00:20:52.61 But Jesus held his peace, 00:20:52.65\00:20:54.88 And the high priest answered and said unto him, 00:20:54.92\00:20:57.49 I adjure thee by the living God, 00:20:57.52\00:20:59.02 that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, 00:20:59.05\00:21:01.96 the Son of God." 00:21:01.99\00:21:03.73 Verse 64. 00:21:03.76\00:21:05.09 "Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said, 00:21:05.13\00:21:08.66 nevertheless I say unto you, 00:21:08.70\00:21:10.90 Hereafter you shall see the Son of man 00:21:10.93\00:21:12.73 sitting on the right hand of power, 00:21:12.77\00:21:14.94 and coming in the clouds of heaven. 00:21:14.97\00:21:17.34 Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, 00:21:17.37\00:21:20.11 He hath spoken blasphemy, 00:21:20.14\00:21:22.18 what further need have we of witnesses? 00:21:22.21\00:21:24.88 Behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy. 00:21:24.91\00:21:28.68 What think ye? 00:21:28.72\00:21:30.15 They answered and said, He is guilty of death." 00:21:30.19\00:21:35.19 You see, that was their declaration. 00:21:35.22\00:21:37.23 So he was examined by the high priest 00:21:37.26\00:21:39.06 and the counsel, 00:21:39.09\00:21:40.80 but they weren't trying to find... 00:21:40.83\00:21:43.10 They weren't trying to find a lamb 00:21:43.13\00:21:45.30 without spot and without blemish, 00:21:45.33\00:21:46.84 they were trying to find fault 00:21:46.87\00:21:48.80 and the Bible says they found none. 00:21:48.84\00:21:51.47 Praise the Lord. 00:21:51.51\00:21:53.91 Scriptures, as we continue reading, 00:21:53.94\00:21:55.54 you will notice that Jesus Christ 00:21:55.58\00:21:57.31 was tempted in all points like as we are, 00:21:57.35\00:21:59.71 yet without sin. 00:21:59.75\00:22:02.28 Praise the Lord. 00:22:02.32\00:22:03.65 So they found, he was examined 00:22:03.69\00:22:05.65 just as the lamb was supposed to be examined, 00:22:05.69\00:22:09.19 even though they had ill intentions, 00:22:09.22\00:22:11.13 Jesus Christ, in this particular scene, 00:22:11.16\00:22:13.46 was examined by the high priest and others. 00:22:13.50\00:22:18.23 But there were others that examined Jesus. 00:22:18.27\00:22:20.54 We're not going to read it, 00:22:20.57\00:22:21.90 but if you care to write it down 00:22:21.94\00:22:23.30 and read it later on, I encourage you to do so. 00:22:23.34\00:22:25.44 Mark 15:55-64 has a similar account to that 00:22:25.47\00:22:31.21 of which we just read. 00:22:31.25\00:22:32.85 Let's move over to Luke 23 00:22:32.88\00:22:35.18 and read that account 00:22:35.22\00:22:36.69 because it brings to light other things 00:22:36.72\00:22:38.85 that happened in the life of Jesus 00:22:38.89\00:22:40.69 during the end of His life. 00:22:40.72\00:22:43.12 We're looking at Luke 23. 00:22:43.16\00:22:45.93 We're going to read verse 13 all the way to verse 24, 00:22:45.96\00:22:50.30 so please pay attention and follow along. 00:22:50.33\00:22:52.43 Luke 23:13. 00:22:52.47\00:22:54.50 "And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests 00:22:54.54\00:22:58.34 and the rulers of the people..." 00:22:58.37\00:23:00.18 So who are there? 00:23:00.21\00:23:01.54 The chief priests and the rulers of the people 00:23:01.58\00:23:04.48 and examination is about to take place. 00:23:04.51\00:23:06.41 They are about to examine the Lamb of God 00:23:06.45\00:23:08.78 that takes away the sin of the world. 00:23:08.82\00:23:10.29 Verse 14. 00:23:10.32\00:23:11.65 "Said unto them, 00:23:11.69\00:23:13.02 Ye have brought this man unto me, 00:23:13.05\00:23:14.39 as one that perverteth the people, and, behold, 00:23:14.42\00:23:17.83 I, having examined him..." 00:23:17.86\00:23:19.79 Having what? 00:23:19.83\00:23:21.16 "Examined him before you, 00:23:21.20\00:23:23.87 have found no fault in this man 00:23:23.90\00:23:26.33 touching those things whereof ye accuse him. 00:23:26.37\00:23:30.81 No, nor yet Herod..." 00:23:30.84\00:23:32.94 Another individual. 00:23:32.97\00:23:34.51 "For I sent you unto him, and, lo, 00:23:34.54\00:23:36.24 nothing worthy of death is done unto him. 00:23:36.28\00:23:41.15 I will therefore chastise him, and release him. 00:23:41.18\00:23:46.45 For of necessity..." 00:23:46.49\00:23:47.82 Verse 17 says. 00:23:47.86\00:23:49.19 "He must release one unto them at the feast." 00:23:49.22\00:23:53.63 It was the Feast of Passover at that moment. 00:23:53.66\00:23:55.76 Luke 23:18 continues, 00:23:55.80\00:23:57.97 "And they cried out all at once, saying, 00:23:58.00\00:24:00.84 Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas." 00:24:00.87\00:24:06.44 So the opportunity was given to them 00:24:06.47\00:24:09.11 to release Jesus Christ 00:24:09.14\00:24:12.25 because He had really done nothing wrong 00:24:12.28\00:24:14.68 and Herod just told them, "I find no fault in Him. 00:24:14.72\00:24:17.19 I examined Him before you, there is no fault in Him." 00:24:17.22\00:24:20.56 A message that should echo in their ears. 00:24:20.59\00:24:24.43 And so let's continue reading. 00:24:24.46\00:24:26.53 Verse 19. 00:24:26.56\00:24:29.03 Thank you. 00:24:29.06\00:24:30.40 "Who for a certain sedition..." That's Barabbas. 00:24:30.43\00:24:32.87 "Made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison. 00:24:32.90\00:24:36.17 Verse 20. 00:24:36.20\00:24:37.54 "Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, 00:24:37.57\00:24:39.67 spoke again to them. 00:24:39.71\00:24:42.64 But they cried, saying, Crucify Him, crucify Him. 00:24:42.68\00:24:47.45 And he said unto them the third time, 00:24:47.48\00:24:50.45 Why, what evil hath He done? 00:24:50.49\00:24:54.99 I have found no cause of death in Him. 00:24:55.02\00:24:57.63 I will therefore chastise Him, and let Him go." 00:24:57.66\00:25:02.76 So you see, we have another account 00:25:02.80\00:25:05.33 where Christ, the Lamb of God was examined to see 00:25:05.37\00:25:10.94 if there was any fault in Him and there was no fault to Him. 00:25:10.97\00:25:13.78 Now I ask you to join me in John 19. 00:25:13.81\00:25:17.41 John 19. 00:25:17.45\00:25:19.61 In John 19, 00:25:19.65\00:25:20.98 it's another account of the moment, 00:25:21.02\00:25:23.72 but here it stresses again several times 00:25:23.75\00:25:26.96 how they said they have found no fault in Him. 00:25:26.99\00:25:30.43 We're going to go to John 19. 00:25:30.46\00:25:33.53 Somebody forgot to turn off their cell phone. 00:25:33.56\00:25:35.76 John 19. 00:25:35.80\00:25:37.13 We're going to read verses 1 through 6. 00:25:37.17\00:25:39.03 Notice John 19. 00:25:39.07\00:25:40.87 By the way, if anyone else has a cell phone on, 00:25:40.90\00:25:42.70 you can please turn it off. 00:25:42.74\00:25:44.07 Thank you. 00:25:44.11\00:25:45.44 John 19:1, 00:25:45.47\00:25:46.81 "Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, 00:25:46.84\00:25:48.18 and scourged him. 00:25:48.21\00:25:49.54 And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, 00:25:49.58\00:25:52.51 and put it on His head, 00:25:52.55\00:25:54.12 and they put on Him a purple robe..." 00:25:54.15\00:25:56.52 This was to mock Him. 00:25:56.55\00:25:57.89 "And said, Hail, King of the Jews! 00:25:57.92\00:26:00.49 And they smote Him with their hands. 00:26:00.52\00:26:02.52 Pilate therefore went forth again, 00:26:02.56\00:26:04.33 and saith unto them, 00:26:04.36\00:26:05.73 Behold, I bring Him forth to you, 00:26:05.76\00:26:09.20 that ye may know that I find no fault in Him." 00:26:09.23\00:26:14.80 So there is the first time in John's account. 00:26:14.84\00:26:17.04 Verse 5. 00:26:17.07\00:26:18.41 "Then came Jesus forth, 00:26:18.44\00:26:19.77 wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. 00:26:19.81\00:26:21.68 And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man! 00:26:21.71\00:26:27.05 When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, 00:26:27.08\00:26:30.19 they cried out, saying, Crucify Him, crucify Him. 00:26:30.22\00:26:34.46 Pilate saith unto them, Take ye, and crucify Him, 00:26:34.49\00:26:39.09 for I find no fault in Him." 00:26:39.13\00:26:43.87 And so the Bible declares that his peers examined Him, 00:26:43.90\00:26:48.80 the high priest examined Him, 00:26:48.84\00:26:50.81 even the Herod and Pilate examined Him, 00:26:50.84\00:26:53.27 and they found no fault in Jesus Christ 00:26:53.31\00:26:57.21 because He had committed no sin, 00:26:57.25\00:26:59.38 He had no faults, 00:26:59.41\00:27:01.05 and I praise the Lord for that 00:27:01.08\00:27:02.42 because that means that as the Lamb of God, 00:27:02.45\00:27:05.39 He could die in our place, 00:27:05.42\00:27:09.42 fit sacrifice for us. 00:27:09.46\00:27:11.63 But yet there is another testimony 00:27:11.66\00:27:13.40 and I didn't bring that scripture before you 00:27:13.43\00:27:16.63 and that is the testimony of God the Father. 00:27:16.67\00:27:20.84 What the God the Father say as... 00:27:20.87\00:27:22.67 If I'm sure you remember reading this, 00:27:22.70\00:27:25.61 "Here is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased." 00:27:25.64\00:27:31.98 Praise the Lord. 00:27:32.01\00:27:33.72 "In whom I am well pleased." 00:27:33.75\00:27:37.22 And so there was no cause for Jesus Christ to be rejected 00:27:37.25\00:27:41.39 as the Lamb of God even before God the Father. 00:27:41.42\00:27:45.13 And as we look at these scriptures, 00:27:45.16\00:27:46.83 it lets you know, 00:27:46.86\00:27:48.20 the scriptures we're about to look at, 00:27:48.23\00:27:49.70 that the Father looked upon Jesus 00:27:49.73\00:27:53.64 and saw there was no fault in Him. 00:27:53.67\00:27:55.34 He lived a perfect life 00:27:55.37\00:27:58.21 and was a fit sacrifice to replace us, 00:27:58.24\00:28:01.34 and I thank God for that. 00:28:01.38\00:28:02.71 How many of you thank God for that? 00:28:02.74\00:28:04.65 Amen. 00:28:04.68\00:28:06.05 Let us go now to Exodus 12:4. 00:28:06.08\00:28:09.78 So it established some of the conditions 00:28:09.82\00:28:12.15 we mentioned to you that it must be a lamb 00:28:12.19\00:28:14.06 without spot and without blemish, 00:28:14.09\00:28:15.96 and if you want to find one of those scriptures, 00:28:15.99\00:28:18.43 one of them is found in Exodus 12, 00:28:18.46\00:28:21.73 we're going to read verse 4 and 5. 00:28:21.76\00:28:24.07 Thus it is written, 00:28:24.10\00:28:25.73 "And if the household be too little for the lamb, 00:28:25.77\00:28:28.90 let him and his neighbor next unto his house 00:28:28.94\00:28:32.94 take it according to the number of the souls, 00:28:32.97\00:28:35.48 every man according to his eating 00:28:35.51\00:28:37.18 shall make your count for the lamb." 00:28:37.21\00:28:39.21 This is the scene 00:28:39.25\00:28:40.58 that they're preparing for the Passover, 00:28:40.62\00:28:42.58 but here is a description of how the lamb must be 00:28:42.62\00:28:45.82 because it was a symbol of Jesus Christ. 00:28:45.85\00:28:47.82 Exodus 12:5 tells us, 00:28:47.86\00:28:50.06 "Your lamb shall be without blemish, 00:28:50.09\00:28:53.70 a male of the first year. 00:28:53.73\00:28:55.66 So shall ye take it out from the sheep, 00:28:55.70\00:29:00.70 or from the goats." 00:29:00.74\00:29:02.07 So it must be without spot or without blemish. 00:29:02.10\00:29:06.01 There are other scriptures 00:29:06.04\00:29:07.38 that communicate the same thing. 00:29:07.41\00:29:08.74 We're going to read another one very soon. 00:29:08.78\00:29:10.71 Notice in Leviticus 4, if you'd join me there. 00:29:10.75\00:29:13.95 Leviticus 4. 00:29:13.98\00:29:15.42 It gives you a description of what should happen 00:29:15.45\00:29:18.99 once the sin is confessed, 00:29:19.02\00:29:22.56 what should be the process. 00:29:22.59\00:29:23.93 Leviticus 4, 00:29:23.96\00:29:25.29 we are going to read verse 3, 4, 5, and 6. 00:29:25.33\00:29:28.53 Hope you are ready. 00:29:28.56\00:29:31.20 "If the priest that is anointed do sin 00:29:31.23\00:29:34.40 according to the sin of the people, 00:29:34.44\00:29:36.60 then let him bring for his sin, 00:29:36.64\00:29:38.44 which he hath sinned, 00:29:38.47\00:29:39.81 a young bullock without blemish 00:29:39.84\00:29:41.51 unto the Lord for a sin offering." 00:29:41.54\00:29:43.68 It must be without blemish. 00:29:43.71\00:29:45.11 Verse 4. 00:29:45.15\00:29:46.48 "And he shall bring the bullock 00:29:46.51\00:29:47.85 unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation 00:29:47.88\00:29:51.12 before the Lord and shall lay his hand 00:29:51.15\00:29:53.62 upon the bullock's head, 00:29:53.66\00:29:54.99 and kill the bullock before the Lord. 00:29:55.02\00:29:57.89 And the priest that is anointed 00:29:57.93\00:29:59.73 shall take of the bullock's blood, 00:29:59.76\00:30:01.76 and bring it to the tabernacle of the congregation. 00:30:01.80\00:30:04.83 And the priest shall dip his finger in the blood, 00:30:04.87\00:30:07.57 and sprinkle of the blood seven times before the Lord, 00:30:07.60\00:30:12.21 before the veil of the sanctuary." 00:30:12.24\00:30:15.61 This is what was to be done when a priest sinned. 00:30:15.64\00:30:19.45 Sometimes, the blood 00:30:19.48\00:30:20.82 was just put upon the horns of the altar of sacrifice 00:30:20.85\00:30:24.95 and was eaten by the priests. 00:30:24.99\00:30:27.72 On this occasion, you see very well 00:30:27.76\00:30:29.62 that the hand must be placed on the animal, 00:30:29.66\00:30:32.33 confession of sin was to be made, 00:30:32.36\00:30:34.76 there should be a transferring or removing of sin 00:30:34.80\00:30:37.27 from the individual to the animal, 00:30:37.30\00:30:39.40 the blood then would be offered as an atonement, 00:30:39.43\00:30:42.64 the animal will be killed and offered as an atonement 00:30:42.67\00:30:45.07 for the sins of the individual, 00:30:45.11\00:30:47.04 then the person would be what? 00:30:47.08\00:30:51.21 Forgiven. Forgiven. 00:30:51.25\00:30:55.65 Something that we do not have time to talk about 00:30:55.68\00:30:57.59 is the Day of Atonement, 00:30:57.62\00:30:59.92 the Day of Atonement because the sin was forgiven, 00:30:59.95\00:31:04.06 but not erased or blotted out until the Day of Atonement. 00:31:04.09\00:31:08.90 The person was forgiven, 00:31:08.93\00:31:10.47 but it was on the Day of Atonement 00:31:10.50\00:31:12.23 that it was blotted out or cleansed completely. 00:31:12.27\00:31:15.57 That should be a study for another time. 00:31:15.60\00:31:18.01 But let's consider 00:31:18.04\00:31:19.37 as we continue the Lamb of God 00:31:19.41\00:31:21.11 that takes away the sin of the world. 00:31:21.14\00:31:23.95 Let us move to Isaiah 53. 00:31:23.98\00:31:26.51 Isaiah 53. 00:31:26.55\00:31:29.72 And here we have a marvelous description 00:31:29.75\00:31:33.56 of a prophecy 00:31:33.59\00:31:36.36 that talks about what would happen to Jesus Christ. 00:31:36.39\00:31:39.73 We do not have time to read the entire of passage 00:31:39.76\00:31:44.30 that we would like to read, 00:31:44.33\00:31:45.67 but if you look at verse 1, it talks about... 00:31:45.70\00:31:47.50 It asks, "Who has believed our report?" 00:31:47.54\00:31:51.41 But let's begin with verse 3. 00:31:51.44\00:31:52.91 Isaiah 53:3. 00:31:52.94\00:31:55.74 Thus it is written, 00:31:55.78\00:31:57.68 talking about Jesus Christ, 00:31:57.71\00:31:59.15 "He is despised and rejected of men, 00:31:59.18\00:32:03.45 a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief 00:32:03.49\00:32:06.25 and we hid as it were our faces from Him. 00:32:06.29\00:32:10.63 He was despised, and we esteemed Him not." 00:32:10.66\00:32:15.53 Verse 4. 00:32:15.56\00:32:16.90 "Surely He has borne our griefs, 00:32:16.93\00:32:19.23 and carried our sorrows, 00:32:19.27\00:32:21.20 yet we did esteem Him stricken, 00:32:21.24\00:32:23.97 smitten of God, and afflicted. 00:32:24.01\00:32:27.58 But He was wounded for our transgressions, 00:32:27.61\00:32:30.95 He was bruised for our iniquities, 00:32:30.98\00:32:33.65 the chastisement of our peace was upon Him 00:32:33.68\00:32:36.55 and with His stripes we are healed." 00:32:36.58\00:32:38.99 We'll stop there for a moment in our reading. 00:32:39.02\00:32:41.26 As you look at this passage, 00:32:41.29\00:32:43.36 it's trying to communicate 00:32:43.39\00:32:44.73 something to you as an individual, 00:32:44.76\00:32:46.16 to me as an individual. 00:32:46.19\00:32:48.10 Jesus Christ, it says, 00:32:48.13\00:32:50.17 was wounded for our transgressions, 00:32:50.20\00:32:52.80 not for His because He had none. 00:32:52.83\00:32:55.37 "He was wounded for our transgressions, 00:32:55.40\00:32:57.51 He was bruised for our iniquities, 00:32:57.54\00:33:01.04 and the chastisement of our peace was upon Him 00:33:01.08\00:33:03.58 and with His stripes, 00:33:03.61\00:33:04.95 and only His stripes, can we be healed." 00:33:04.98\00:33:09.45 So let's continue verse 6. 00:33:09.48\00:33:12.32 "All we like sheep have gone astray, 00:33:12.35\00:33:15.39 we have turned everyone to his own way." 00:33:15.42\00:33:19.69 And that's the case of every individual. 00:33:19.73\00:33:21.66 The last part of the verse says, 00:33:21.70\00:33:23.33 "And the Lord hath laid on Him 00:33:23.37\00:33:27.04 the iniquity of us all." 00:33:27.07\00:33:29.90 Wow. Stop there a moment in verse 7. 00:33:29.94\00:33:33.41 The scripture tells us that, 00:33:33.44\00:33:35.31 "The Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all." 00:33:35.34\00:33:39.58 Why? 00:33:39.61\00:33:41.95 "Because God so loved the world 00:33:41.98\00:33:43.85 that He gave His only begotten Son." 00:33:43.89\00:33:46.82 That's why. 00:33:46.86\00:33:48.19 And He loved you so much 00:33:48.22\00:33:50.09 that He was willing to make that sacrifice 00:33:50.13\00:33:52.49 for you and for me. 00:33:52.53\00:33:56.03 But if He had not been a fit sacrifice, 00:33:56.06\00:33:59.53 if there was any spot of sin on Him, 00:33:59.57\00:34:01.90 if Jesus for one moment had committed one sin 00:34:01.94\00:34:06.64 by thought or by action, 00:34:06.68\00:34:09.44 with His words, 00:34:09.48\00:34:11.58 He would be an unfit vessel, 00:34:11.61\00:34:14.12 an unfit lamb to be sacrificed for us. 00:34:14.15\00:34:18.22 And because He was fit, because He was perfect, 00:34:18.25\00:34:21.72 the Father laid on Him the iniquity of all of us. 00:34:21.76\00:34:28.70 Each and every one of us. 00:34:28.73\00:34:31.53 Aren't you thankful for that? 00:34:31.57\00:34:33.30 I am thankful for that. 00:34:33.34\00:34:35.77 And He died in my place, He died in your place. 00:34:35.80\00:34:40.01 "The Lord laid on Him the iniquity of us all." 00:34:40.04\00:34:44.15 That's verse 6. 00:34:44.18\00:34:45.51 Actually, let's go to verse 7 now. 00:34:45.55\00:34:47.62 "He was oppressed, 00:34:47.65\00:34:49.55 and He was afflicted, 00:34:49.58\00:34:52.29 yet He opened not His mouth. 00:34:52.32\00:34:55.86 He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, 00:34:55.89\00:35:00.73 and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, 00:35:00.76\00:35:03.40 so He openeth not His mouth." 00:35:03.43\00:35:07.44 Wow. 00:35:07.47\00:35:10.67 He didn't try to fight being crucified, 00:35:10.71\00:35:14.91 He didn't complain, 00:35:14.94\00:35:17.18 He willingly died for us 00:35:17.21\00:35:20.68 and this is why a lamb is such a fit animal 00:35:20.72\00:35:23.59 to describe the Lord Jesus Christ, 00:35:23.62\00:35:25.72 that's what they do. 00:35:25.75\00:35:27.22 It says here that as they're being shaven, 00:35:27.26\00:35:30.83 they don't scream, they don't yell out. 00:35:30.86\00:35:34.46 They just sit there 00:35:34.50\00:35:35.83 and let you do all that cutting. 00:35:35.86\00:35:40.00 And Jesus Christ willingly took our sins, 00:35:40.04\00:35:43.44 willingly suffered on the cross 00:35:43.47\00:35:47.54 and was crucified. 00:35:47.58\00:35:50.25 You that understand or have read before 00:35:50.28\00:35:53.42 the description of the sacrifice of Christ, 00:35:53.45\00:35:55.75 the Bible says that two thieves were crucified with Him, 00:35:55.78\00:35:59.25 one on the left and one of the right. 00:35:59.29\00:36:03.93 Question. 00:36:03.96\00:36:05.46 If you were about to be crucified 00:36:05.49\00:36:07.83 and you knew that 00:36:07.86\00:36:09.20 once you're nailed to that cross, 00:36:09.23\00:36:10.57 you could not get away, 00:36:10.60\00:36:11.93 wouldn't you try to resist? 00:36:11.97\00:36:14.10 Wouldn't you try to get away? 00:36:14.14\00:36:15.84 Wouldn't you fight as they say to the nail 00:36:15.87\00:36:20.31 and try to kick and try to get away 00:36:20.34\00:36:22.81 before they place on the cross 00:36:22.84\00:36:24.28 and start nailing you to the cross? 00:36:24.31\00:36:26.75 Wouldn't you? 00:36:26.78\00:36:28.28 Because once they put you there, 00:36:28.32\00:36:29.88 you cannot get away. 00:36:29.92\00:36:32.52 And those two thieves, 00:36:32.55\00:36:33.89 they tried to get away, they fought, 00:36:33.92\00:36:35.26 they tried to fight their way so they wouldn't, 00:36:35.29\00:36:38.19 but they were overcome... 00:36:38.23\00:36:39.56 See, they were surrounded by soldiers, 00:36:39.59\00:36:41.03 there was no way out. 00:36:41.06\00:36:43.43 But Jesus, in comparison to them, 00:36:43.47\00:36:46.94 willingly took our place 00:36:46.97\00:36:51.97 because He was doing it for us, 00:36:52.01\00:36:56.24 doing it for you, 00:36:56.28\00:36:58.41 doing that for me. 00:36:58.45\00:37:00.52 Verse 8 of Isaiah 53. 00:37:00.55\00:37:02.48 "He was taken from prison and from judgment. 00:37:02.52\00:37:05.59 Who shall declare his generation? 00:37:05.62\00:37:08.82 For he was cut off out of the land of the living." 00:37:08.86\00:37:12.29 Why? 00:37:12.33\00:37:13.66 "For the transgression of My people was He stricken. 00:37:13.70\00:37:19.33 And He made his grave with the wicked, 00:37:19.37\00:37:22.20 and with the rich in His death 00:37:22.24\00:37:24.61 because He had done no violence, 00:37:24.64\00:37:27.78 neither was any deceit in His mouth." 00:37:27.81\00:37:31.18 Lived a perfect life. 00:37:31.21\00:37:32.91 Verse 10. 00:37:32.95\00:37:34.28 "Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him." 00:37:34.32\00:37:38.05 Why? I'm sorry, Chapter 5. 00:40:05.03\00:40:08.10 Romans 5:7. 00:40:08.14\00:40:11.11 Romans 5:7, 8. 00:40:11.14\00:40:14.11 And we now read verse 7. 00:40:14.14\00:40:16.91 "For scarcely 00:40:16.95\00:40:18.28 for a righteous man will one die, 00:40:18.31\00:40:21.48 yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 00:40:21.52\00:40:27.79 But God commendeth His love toward us, 00:40:27.82\00:40:32.29 in that, while we were yet sinners, 00:40:32.33\00:40:34.20 Christ died for us." 00:40:34.23\00:40:39.33 Praise the Lord. 00:40:39.37\00:40:41.00 In this passage, the writer is including, 00:40:41.04\00:40:44.84 making it personal by saying He died for us. 00:40:44.87\00:40:47.21 Yes, He died for the world, 00:40:47.24\00:40:48.58 but He died for us, He died for me. 00:40:48.61\00:40:52.75 And all who will, can have salvation. 00:40:52.78\00:40:54.68 Unfortunately, as strange as it may seem, 00:40:54.72\00:40:58.69 God makes an offer of eternal life 00:40:58.72\00:41:02.29 without suffering, nor pain or sickness nor death, 00:41:02.32\00:41:06.09 where there is peace and joy 00:41:06.13\00:41:07.96 and happiness throughout eternity, 00:41:08.00\00:41:10.40 and you won't have to worry about whether or not 00:41:10.43\00:41:12.53 you're going to can eat today or tomorrow, 00:41:12.57\00:41:14.70 the next day or in 1,000 years. 00:41:14.74\00:41:19.04 He made that offer. 00:41:19.07\00:41:20.84 "I'm willing to forgive you for your sins, 00:41:20.88\00:41:23.14 forget your past completely, 00:41:23.18\00:41:25.65 transform you, change you, 00:41:25.68\00:41:27.65 give you a new body 00:41:27.68\00:41:30.59 where you never grow sick or old, 00:41:30.62\00:41:33.49 you will be enjoying life throughout eternity. 00:41:33.52\00:41:37.09 This is what I offer you." 00:41:37.13\00:41:40.06 What's the other offer? 00:41:40.10\00:41:42.43 The other offer is horror. 00:41:42.46\00:41:45.50 The Bible says that, "The wages of sin is death." 00:41:45.53\00:41:48.10 So the other offer includes death, 00:41:48.14\00:41:50.47 the wages of sin and suffering. 00:41:50.51\00:41:52.77 What kind of life do most people live on this earth? 00:41:52.81\00:41:55.31 A few people have, what they call, some luxuries, 00:41:55.34\00:42:00.85 a nice home, 00:42:00.88\00:42:02.22 some have cars, 00:42:02.25\00:42:03.59 some even have boats and planes. 00:42:03.62\00:42:05.85 But you see, everyone is subject to pain, 00:42:05.89\00:42:09.62 suffering, sickness, or death. 00:42:09.66\00:42:13.60 I have heard of some rich people 00:42:13.63\00:42:15.43 that their body became sick and eventually, 00:42:15.46\00:42:21.40 they saw death approaching and hoping to live, 00:42:21.44\00:42:25.67 to hang on to life, 00:42:25.71\00:42:28.11 they're thinking that perhaps technology in the future 00:42:28.14\00:42:32.35 would discover some cure for their disease, 00:42:32.38\00:42:35.98 have asked for their bodies to be frozen and paid, 00:42:36.02\00:42:39.79 I don't know how many thousands or millions of dollars, 00:42:39.82\00:42:44.16 but they have done this to try to hang on to life. 00:42:44.19\00:42:47.86 But you see, God offers eternal life free. 00:42:47.90\00:42:53.00 We may, as a result 00:42:53.03\00:42:55.27 of we're living in this world of sin, 00:42:55.30\00:42:59.81 get some kind of disease, 00:42:59.84\00:43:01.18 somebody may kill us in an accident 00:43:01.21\00:43:02.84 or some other thing, 00:43:02.88\00:43:04.25 but for us, 00:43:04.28\00:43:05.78 that believe in the Lord Jesus Christ 00:43:05.81\00:43:08.88 and choose to walk in His ways, 00:43:08.92\00:43:10.99 there's promise of eternal life 00:43:11.02\00:43:13.15 without pain nor suffering nor sickness nor death. 00:43:13.19\00:43:15.56 So God's offer is the best offer 00:43:15.59\00:43:17.83 there could ever be. 00:43:17.86\00:43:19.56 There is nothing that even comes close as they may say, 00:43:19.59\00:43:23.10 not even comes to the bottom of the feet, 00:43:23.13\00:43:26.20 you know, some people say 00:43:26.23\00:43:27.57 comes to the ankle or to the knees. 00:43:27.60\00:43:29.50 Not even to the bottom of your feet 00:43:29.54\00:43:30.94 the offer comes from the other side. 00:43:30.97\00:43:34.71 So God's offer is the best offer. 00:43:34.74\00:43:37.71 And even though some people trade 00:43:37.75\00:43:40.28 what God is offering 00:43:40.32\00:43:41.65 for some so-called pleasure in this world, 00:43:41.68\00:43:45.92 it is not worthy to be compared with what God has to offer. 00:43:45.95\00:43:50.79 So I encourage everyone to consider 00:43:50.83\00:43:53.60 that God's offer is the best offer 00:43:53.63\00:43:57.20 and nothing can come close. 00:43:57.23\00:43:59.60 Praise be to God. 00:43:59.63\00:44:01.60 I now invite you to turn in your Bibles, 00:44:04.61\00:44:09.64 1 Peter 2. 00:44:09.68\00:44:12.18 1 Peter 2.
