You must remember that as
you look at John chapter 13,

the disciples had
just had the opportunity

to be with Jesus in

Passover" or the Last Supper

Jesus said, "This do

to talk to the disciples

about things that
are about to happen.

Just ahead of Jesus, was
a great test... a trial...

the biggest in His life.

He was going to go to
the garden of Gethsemane

and there face a... the
greatest decision of His life

and this is why when you look
at the Garden of Gethsemane,

you see Jesus saying,
"Father, if it be possible

So, Jesus is telling them
that He's about to leave them

so, naturally the
disciples... they had spent

about 3 and 1/2
years with Jesus...

when they hear this...
"Wait... wait... wait a minute,

where you are
going, we cannot come?"

They had been
with Him everywhere.

Wherever Jesus went,
that's where the disciples went

and now, Jesus is telling them,

"Where I go, you cannot come. "

So, naturally, the disciples
were filled with sorrow

picture this a moment

because they had
the greatest privilege

that walking human
beings could ever have

to be with Jesus
the very Son of God.

The Bible calls...

says that from Him is
the source of all wisdom

and so, imagine,

being able to say,
"Man, I have this problem,

where can I go?"

You can go to Jesus... the
disciples had Jesus with them.

"I'm perplexed

and they had the confidence
to go and speak to Jesus.

The Bible doesn't give
us details such as these

"I'm having a little trouble,

for a little moment?"

And I can imagine Jesus
saying, "Sure John, just talk"

going off to a
place by themselves

heart-to-heart talk.

As we look at this passage,

that on several occasions,

these little discussions

about who should be greatest.

Who's going to be next
to Jesus in the kingdom?

Because they... they accepted
the common thought of those days

that the Messiah was
going to occupy the throne,

a temporal reign

however, that was
not Jesus' mission,

so, now Jesus is telling,

"I'm leaving and you have
to live by this commandment. "

of chaos in the world,

Now, this is the way
God's universe lives,

they love one another,
before sin came upon the world,

before sin entered
into the universe...

that's the way everyone lived,

everyone loved one another

and that's what
we're going to return to.

I had car trouble.

and I took the car to a mechanic

what was going to happen,
