Amen. 00:05:06.13\00:05:07.47 That's our prayer. 00:05:07.50\00:05:08.84 That is the prayer 00:05:08.87\00:05:10.51 when Jeremiah talked about how He is the potter, 00:05:10.54\00:05:14.84 God is the potter we are the clay. 00:05:14.88\00:05:17.35 And David prayed, 00:05:17.38\00:05:18.71 "Create in me a clean heart O God 00:05:18.75\00:05:20.98 and renew a right spirit within me." 00:05:21.02\00:05:23.99 Now before we can live righteous Christian lives 00:05:24.02\00:05:27.56 we've got to have a new heart, we've got to have a new mind, 00:05:27.59\00:05:31.69 we've got to have power from a different source. 00:05:31.73\00:05:34.73 And so this Christian life-- I was thinking today 00:05:34.76\00:05:38.03 when I was putting this together. 00:05:38.07\00:05:41.07 For those of you who are transcribing this program 00:05:41.10\00:05:42.97 you have a difficult time because New Yorkers 00:05:43.00\00:05:45.21 stop in the middle of a sentence 00:05:45.24\00:05:46.57 when another thought comes to the surface. 00:05:46.61\00:05:48.91 But I was thinking about this topic 00:05:48.94\00:05:50.48 about how to live a spiritual life 00:05:50.51\00:05:52.41 in a natural body and I thought to myself, 00:05:52.45\00:05:54.78 everybody that's watching the program, 00:05:54.82\00:05:56.58 the local audience those are listening 00:05:56.62\00:05:58.09 to the program on radio, 00:05:58.12\00:05:59.72 everyone of us is in two categories. 00:05:59.75\00:06:02.52 We-- if we've given ourselves to Christ 00:06:02.56\00:06:04.63 we have a spiritual commitment but we have a natural body. 00:06:04.66\00:06:08.36 Say that with me, we have a what kind of commitment? 00:06:08.40\00:06:10.70 Spiritual commitment. Spiritual commitment. 00:06:10.73\00:06:12.33 What kind of body? 00:06:12.37\00:06:13.70 Natural body. Natural body. 00:06:13.74\00:06:15.07 So every one of us in the place 00:06:15.10\00:06:17.94 where we need the answer of how to live a spiritual life 00:06:17.97\00:06:20.78 in this natural body. 00:06:20.81\00:06:22.51 Well, we did last lesson, I want to begin tonight 00:06:22.54\00:06:24.71 with a comparison because we talked 00:06:24.75\00:06:26.31 about the attributes 00:06:26.35\00:06:28.08 that separate the first Adam from the last Adam. 00:06:28.12\00:06:31.82 The last Adam being Christ. 00:06:31.85\00:06:33.42 Now for those of us 00:06:33.46\00:06:34.79 who are children of the first Adam 00:06:34.82\00:06:36.56 let me give you a story. 00:06:36.59\00:06:37.93 We had a baptism this Sabbath, 00:06:37.96\00:06:39.29 couple of baptisms as a matter of fact, 00:06:39.33\00:06:41.26 and one of our children that go to our school, 00:06:41.30\00:06:45.63 I won't mention the name. 00:06:45.67\00:06:47.97 I was studying with her again after her baptism on Monday. 00:06:48.00\00:06:51.47 We were going through our lessons and she said, 00:06:51.51\00:06:54.24 "Guess what, Pastor John?" 00:06:54.28\00:06:55.61 I said, "Well, what?" 00:06:55.64\00:06:56.98 She says, "On Friday I was a child of Adam 00:06:57.01\00:07:01.28 but it's Monday now I'm a child of God." 00:07:01.32\00:07:04.19 Amen. Amen. 00:07:04.22\00:07:05.55 Ten-years-old, and I thought no adult has said that to me. 00:07:05.59\00:07:10.13 So that is, in fact, the case. 00:07:10.16\00:07:12.19 When we give our lives to Jesus, 00:07:12.23\00:07:13.56 when we are baptized we enter the family. 00:07:13.60\00:07:15.96 We leave the Adam's family. 00:07:16.00\00:07:17.37 Remember that years ago the Adam's family? 00:07:17.40\00:07:20.00 Matter of fact, I did this sermon many years ago, 00:07:20.04\00:07:21.64 I called it the Adam's family and the question was 00:07:21.67\00:07:24.47 which Adam's family member are you? 00:07:24.51\00:07:26.34 The last Adam or the first Adam? 00:07:26.37\00:07:28.74 But I want to begin with this slide 00:07:28.78\00:07:31.31 after our title slide, "How to be Alive to God" 00:07:31.35\00:07:34.95 Last week we compared 00:07:34.98\00:07:37.22 the first Adam to the last Adam. 00:07:37.25\00:07:39.69 So being alive to God is significant. 00:07:39.72\00:07:41.89 Look at the slide, it appears on our screen 00:07:41.92\00:07:44.26 how to be Alive to God. 00:07:44.29\00:07:45.63 And I want you to notice as I walk through this 00:07:45.66\00:07:47.00 very, very quickly. 00:07:47.03\00:07:48.36 If you look at the left column you will see that in Adam 00:07:48.40\00:07:51.47 every one of is Dead In Sin. 00:07:51.50\00:07:55.34 You see that. 00:07:55.37\00:07:56.91 In Jesus, we are Dead, say that with me To Sin. 00:07:56.94\00:08:01.01 In Adam, we are Earthly. 00:08:01.04\00:08:04.08 In Christ, we are Heavenly. 00:08:04.11\00:08:06.61 In Adam, we are Natural. 00:08:06.65\00:08:08.82 In Christ, we are Spiritual. 00:08:08.85\00:08:11.19 In Adam, we are Corruptible. 00:08:11.22\00:08:13.32 In Christ, we are Incorruptible. 00:08:13.36\00:08:16.09 In Adam, we are Mortal. 00:08:16.12\00:08:17.96 In Christ, we will be Immortal. 00:08:17.99\00:08:20.23 Now the last two, the last two lines 00:08:20.26\00:08:23.06 are very important because right now 00:08:23.10\00:08:27.00 these things are true and this is amazing. 00:08:27.04\00:08:29.54 The last two lines, the corruptible, incorruptible, 00:08:29.57\00:08:31.74 mortal, immortal, 00:08:31.77\00:08:34.58 incorruptible and immortal is yet to happen. 00:08:34.61\00:08:38.08 Right now we are spiritual 00:08:38.11\00:08:39.65 but we still have a mind that is corruptible. 00:08:39.68\00:08:43.69 That is in fact, if we don't allow 00:08:43.72\00:08:46.49 the right things to enter into our minds 00:08:46.52\00:08:48.72 our minds are naturally corruptible. 00:08:48.76\00:08:52.56 They naturally lean in the direction 00:08:52.59\00:08:55.46 of our sinful flesh. 00:08:55.50\00:08:57.43 So we have to be very, very careful that the things 00:08:57.47\00:08:59.33 we allow to come into our minds 00:08:59.37\00:09:01.07 don't allow these natural minds 00:09:01.10\00:09:02.70 to become more and more corrupt. 00:09:02.74\00:09:06.84 That's the natural part of our spiritual walk. 00:09:06.88\00:09:09.18 The other thing that is part of our spiritual walk 00:09:09.21\00:09:10.85 is we are still mortal. 00:09:10.88\00:09:12.28 What's that word? Mortal. 00:09:12.31\00:09:13.72 You know that means? We're still gonna die. 00:09:13.75\00:09:17.52 We are gonna die a physical death. 00:09:17.55\00:09:19.59 Everyone, and this is sobering thought 00:09:19.62\00:09:21.92 unless everybody, unless somebody-- 00:09:21.96\00:09:24.69 well, let me make it very clear. 00:09:24.73\00:09:26.06 Everybody in this room today in about 100 years 00:09:26.09\00:09:28.10 we'll be dead. 00:09:28.13\00:09:29.93 Isn't that sad? 00:09:29.96\00:09:33.13 Man, that's sad. 00:09:33.17\00:09:35.70 Why did I say that? 00:09:35.74\00:09:38.87 That's the mortal fact. 00:09:38.91\00:09:41.14 We are-- what's, somebody once said 00:09:41.18\00:09:43.55 the mortality rate is 100 percent. 00:09:43.58\00:09:46.85 Meaning everybody that's ever lived is going to what? 00:09:46.88\00:09:48.82 Die. 00:09:48.85\00:09:50.19 Except for the few and, you know, 00:09:50.22\00:09:51.55 don't get theological on me right now. 00:09:51.59\00:09:53.56 But every one of us is destined to die. 00:09:53.59\00:09:55.22 There is a spot some place in the ground 00:09:55.26\00:09:57.89 that we are going to end up. 00:09:57.93\00:09:59.83 That's why I'm looking forward to the immortal. 00:09:59.86\00:10:02.16 Amen. Amen. 00:10:02.20\00:10:03.53 And then one day we are gonna be in a society 00:10:03.57\00:10:05.37 where there is nothing that could corrupt our minds. 00:10:05.40\00:10:07.30 We are gonna have an incorruptible mind. 00:10:07.34\00:10:09.34 Perfect made after the similitude of Christ. 00:10:09.37\00:10:12.17 His character is gonna be completely reproduced in us 00:10:12.21\00:10:15.24 so therefore we will never have to worry about 00:10:15.28\00:10:17.01 being in a corrupt environment. 00:10:17.05\00:10:18.85 But that's yet to come. Amen. 00:10:18.88\00:10:21.15 But there is something that we must do 00:10:21.18\00:10:22.52 and tonight I want to go to question number eight. 00:10:22.55\00:10:24.72 Question number eight is our next question for tonight. 00:10:24.75\00:10:26.52 If you have your syllabus, if you've downloaded that 00:10:26.55\00:10:28.66 from ASF.3abn.org 00:10:28.69\00:10:31.03 question number eight is where we are right now. 00:10:31.06\00:10:33.73 And in order for our minds to stay incorruptible. 00:10:33.76\00:10:37.97 Now let me just mention this. 00:10:38.00\00:10:39.70 I mentioned a moment ago that one day 00:10:39.73\00:10:41.44 we are going to have incorruptible minds, right. 00:10:41.47\00:10:43.77 Yes. 00:10:43.81\00:10:45.14 But that doesn't mean that 00:10:45.17\00:10:46.51 we have to put corruptible things 00:10:46.54\00:10:47.88 in our minds right now. 00:10:47.91\00:10:49.61 That doesn't mean that we have to furnish our minds 00:10:49.64\00:10:51.75 with things that keep it corrupt. 00:10:51.78\00:10:54.02 So we have a mind that can be corrupted. 00:10:54.05\00:10:56.89 So we have to make sure that we don't put things 00:10:56.92\00:10:58.52 in it that will corrupt it. 00:10:58.55\00:10:59.89 In other words, 00:10:59.92\00:11:02.32 my wife had a flat tire on her truck. 00:11:02.36\00:11:05.63 She had two in one day. 00:11:05.66\00:11:08.06 You know, how that happened? 00:11:08.10\00:11:09.50 Because tires can get flat. 00:11:09.53\00:11:13.23 Now if she drove to work in a Sherman tank 00:11:13.27\00:11:16.37 and drove over pieces of glass, it would do nothing 00:11:16.40\00:11:19.51 because the Sherman tank could handle glass and nails 00:11:19.54\00:11:21.84 without any problem. 00:11:21.88\00:11:23.65 But the most expensive tires can get punctured. 00:11:23.68\00:11:29.15 Here's my point, no matter how spiritual you are 00:11:29.18\00:11:32.45 until Jesus changes your mind permanently, 00:11:32.49\00:11:36.06 your mind is susceptible to being corrupted. 00:11:36.09\00:11:39.69 That's a fact. 00:11:39.73\00:11:41.06 All it takes is one glimpse, it takes one thought, 00:11:41.10\00:11:44.37 it takes exposing yourself to something 00:11:44.40\00:11:46.57 that you should not have heard, 00:11:46.60\00:11:48.10 should not have seen, 00:11:48.14\00:11:49.47 a place you should not have gone. 00:11:49.50\00:11:51.11 Something you should not have done. 00:11:51.14\00:11:52.47 All it takes is to expose yourself 00:11:52.51\00:11:53.98 to the wrong thing. 00:11:54.01\00:11:55.94 It's kind of like dropping a small-- 00:11:55.98\00:11:58.05 has this ever happened to you before? 00:11:58.08\00:11:59.75 Have you ever had a really nice cold drink 00:11:59.78\00:12:02.65 and it was a summer day and you turned around 00:12:02.68\00:12:04.52 and a fly landed in your drink? 00:12:04.55\00:12:08.16 Now for most of us we would get ourselves 00:12:08.19\00:12:10.79 a fresh drink, right. 00:12:10.83\00:12:12.69 I know very few people 00:12:12.73\00:12:14.06 that will fish that fly out and say, 00:12:14.10\00:12:15.43 "Hey, let's keep on drinking." 00:12:15.46\00:12:18.57 But the most part we will say, man alive. 00:12:18.60\00:12:20.17 And you say, you don't need a whole lot of flies 00:12:20.20\00:12:22.50 to corrupt it. 00:12:22.54\00:12:24.11 And so we have to make sure 00:12:24.14\00:12:25.87 that our minds are furnished with those things 00:12:25.91\00:12:28.44 that are gonna keep it as pure as possible. 00:12:28.48\00:12:31.38 Like in my garage 00:12:31.41\00:12:32.75 I have two, one gallon plastic bottles of motor oil 00:12:32.78\00:12:38.82 and I check my motor oil in my car periodically 00:12:38.85\00:12:41.56 to see what color it is. 00:12:41.59\00:12:43.02 The darker it is that means I need to get what? 00:12:43.06\00:12:45.96 New oil. An oil change. 00:12:45.99\00:12:48.00 In the very same way if we do things 00:12:48.03\00:12:50.97 that lean towards the darkness of this world 00:12:51.00\00:12:54.57 we need a spiritual oil change. 00:12:54.60\00:12:56.57 So the spiritual oil change will happen 00:12:56.60\00:12:58.47 by the things we put in our minds. 00:12:58.51\00:13:00.54 That's the practical aspects of what we are talking about. 00:13:00.58\00:13:02.84 So let's look at question number eight, 00:13:02.88\00:13:04.98 it lays the foundation. 00:13:05.01\00:13:06.35 Here it is. 00:13:06.38\00:13:07.72 "Why should making godly choices be 00:13:07.75\00:13:09.75 delightful to the Christian?" 00:13:09.78\00:13:11.82 "Why should making godly choices be 00:13:11.85\00:13:14.49 delightful to the Christian?" 00:13:14.52\00:13:17.09 We're gonna look at Romans 6:6. 00:13:17.13\00:13:20.46 You all know it's gonna be on the screen 00:13:20.50\00:13:22.66 but if you're gonna turn your Bibles you can. 00:13:22.70\00:13:24.03 Here's the first part. It's a three parter. 00:13:24.07\00:13:25.97 Actually a four parter. Wow, high-tech. 00:13:26.00\00:13:29.50 Here we go, first part. 00:13:29.54\00:13:31.17 It says, "Knowing this, that our old man was" what? 00:13:31.21\00:13:35.24 Crucified. 00:13:35.28\00:13:36.61 "Crucified with Him," that is with Christ. 00:13:36.64\00:13:38.91 "That the body of sin might be" what? 00:13:38.95\00:13:41.62 "Done away with, 00:13:41.65\00:13:43.02 that we should no longer be" what? 00:13:43.05\00:13:45.89 Slaves. "Slaves to sin." 00:13:45.92\00:13:47.76 So why should making godly choices be 00:13:47.79\00:13:49.52 delightful to the Christian? 00:13:49.56\00:13:50.89 So that we are no longer slaves. 00:13:50.93\00:13:53.19 I mean, who wants to be a slave? 00:13:53.23\00:13:56.43 No one. 00:13:56.46\00:13:58.80 Say it again. 00:13:58.83\00:14:00.17 To God. Slaves to God. 00:14:00.20\00:14:03.10 I'm not too crazy about the word slaves, excuse me. 00:14:03.14\00:14:06.94 I rather the word servant. 00:14:06.98\00:14:09.18 Come one somebody say amen to that. 00:14:09.21\00:14:10.58 It's just for whatever reason 00:14:10.61\00:14:11.95 it doesn't have a right connotation. 00:14:11.98\00:14:13.31 But let me tell you why it's used in the Bible 00:14:13.35\00:14:14.72 because lot of people may say, 00:14:14.75\00:14:16.08 "Well, why is that in the Bible?" 00:14:16.12\00:14:17.79 It's not supporting slavery 00:14:17.82\00:14:19.29 as it's known in the human history. 00:14:19.32\00:14:21.32 It is saying, when you are connected to Christ 00:14:21.36\00:14:24.69 the choices that you are making are actually controlled 00:14:24.73\00:14:27.46 by the person you are connected to. 00:14:27.50\00:14:29.70 That's what the word slaves mean. 00:14:29.73\00:14:31.63 So when we willingly connect ourselves to Christ 00:14:31.67\00:14:34.90 our choices were first His choices. 00:14:34.94\00:14:39.47 Our desires were first His desires. 00:14:39.51\00:14:43.11 As the slave has no control over his or her direction, 00:14:43.14\00:14:46.38 so also the one who is connected to the Master, 00:14:46.41\00:14:49.98 He is our Master. 00:14:50.02\00:14:51.35 Jesus is our Master. 00:14:51.39\00:14:52.99 When we are in a loving, 00:14:53.02\00:14:54.56 victorious Christian relationship 00:14:54.59\00:14:57.19 our good actions are first born in the mind of Christ. 00:14:57.23\00:15:02.50 That's what that slave, Master relationship 00:15:02.53\00:15:04.93 is really all about. 00:15:04.97\00:15:06.30 So first of all, the reason why it should be delightful to is 00:15:06.33\00:15:08.27 it says, "so that we should no longer be slaves" to what? 00:15:08.30\00:15:11.47 "To sin." "To sin," okay. 00:15:11.51\00:15:12.84 So that first of all, in Roman 6:6 00:15:12.87\00:15:15.04 that "We should no longer be slaves to sin." 00:15:15.08\00:15:16.75 That's the answer for that one. 00:15:16.78\00:15:18.61 Now let's look at the next one Romans 6:11. 00:15:18.65\00:15:22.02 And there is a reason why I leave out the middle verses 00:15:22.05\00:15:23.82 because they come up later on in the lesson. 00:15:23.85\00:15:25.55 Sometimes people say, 00:15:25.59\00:15:26.92 just read the whole thing through. 00:15:26.96\00:15:28.29 I know you are thinking, I could hear you. 00:15:28.32\00:15:29.66 Here we go Romans 6:11. 00:15:29.69\00:15:32.93 Together, it says, "Likewise you also, 00:15:32.96\00:15:37.00 reckon yourselves to be" what? 00:15:37.03\00:15:39.33 "Dead indeed to sin, 00:15:39.37\00:15:40.70 but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord." 00:15:40.74\00:15:45.87 The second reason why it should be delightful 00:15:45.91\00:15:47.78 for us to make Christian choices or good choices 00:15:47.81\00:15:50.91 is that it makes us alive to God. 00:15:50.95\00:15:54.68 Say that gain. 00:15:54.72\00:15:56.05 Alive to God. Alive to God. 00:15:56.08\00:15:57.79 Now before I go to the next one 00:15:57.82\00:15:59.15 this is a really important scripture. 00:15:59.19\00:16:00.52 I did a lot of study on this verse alone. 00:16:00.56\00:16:02.92 There is a lot that this verse says 00:16:02.96\00:16:05.06 that I don't want you to miss. 00:16:05.09\00:16:09.33 If you simply reckon yourselves dead, 00:16:09.36\00:16:13.60 you know, that is like saying, "Okay." 00:16:13.64\00:16:16.24 Here's my illustration. 00:16:16.27\00:16:18.64 "I'm not gonna sin. I'm not gonna lie. 00:16:18.67\00:16:20.54 I'm not gonna cheat. I'm not gonna murder. 00:16:20.58\00:16:22.64 I'm not gonna-- 00:16:22.68\00:16:24.01 I'm not going to, I'm dead to that. 00:16:24.05\00:16:25.81 I'm dead to that. I'm dead to that." 00:16:25.85\00:16:28.25 You are corpse, you are living in death. 00:16:28.28\00:16:31.42 You haven't got, you are only living into the, 00:16:31.45\00:16:33.69 into the "what I'm not going to do" category. 00:16:33.72\00:16:36.73 So you are saying, 00:16:36.76\00:16:38.09 "Okay, I'm dead to sin, I'm dead to that. 00:16:38.13\00:16:39.66 I'm dead to that. I'm dead to that." 00:16:39.69\00:16:41.76 But death was the beginning of the process. 00:16:41.80\00:16:45.43 There is the burial and then there is the newness of life. 00:16:45.47\00:16:48.57 So when it says reckon yourselves 00:16:48.60\00:16:51.47 to be dead to sin, that is an intellectual thing 00:16:51.51\00:16:54.74 but it doesn't stay there. 00:16:54.78\00:16:56.11 If it's only in your head it's like a person saying, 00:16:56.14\00:16:58.98 "I know I could jump across that. 00:16:59.01\00:17:00.62 I know I could jump across that opening. 00:17:00.65\00:17:02.38 I could, no, I could jump across the..." 00:17:02.42\00:17:04.25 You're just standing there, you are saying you know 00:17:04.29\00:17:05.62 you could do but did you do it yet? 00:17:05.65\00:17:06.99 No. 00:17:07.02\00:17:08.36 It's like saying "I know I can make the shot. 00:17:08.39\00:17:09.72 I know I can make the shot." 00:17:09.76\00:17:11.09 This is my basketball terminology. 00:17:11.13\00:17:12.46 I know I can make the shot but until you shoot it 00:17:12.49\00:17:13.83 you will never know. 00:17:13.86\00:17:15.20 See reckoning yourselves to be dead 00:17:15.23\00:17:16.93 is simply severing yourself from the things 00:17:16.97\00:17:19.03 that you used to do. 00:17:19.07\00:17:20.84 But that's not the end of it. 00:17:20.87\00:17:22.44 The rest of it says, 00:17:22.47\00:17:23.81 you can't stop at the dead to sin part, 00:17:23.84\00:17:27.21 you have to get to the place 00:17:27.24\00:17:28.58 where you are alive to God, right. 00:17:28.61\00:17:30.61 Amen. 00:17:30.65\00:17:31.98 So there are so many people that I know-- 00:17:32.01\00:17:33.82 you know, why this is important? 00:17:33.85\00:17:35.45 Let me just really illustrate this. 00:17:35.48\00:17:39.35 There are those that live a sour Christian existence. 00:17:39.39\00:17:44.16 You know why? 00:17:44.19\00:17:45.53 Because they spend all their time 00:17:45.56\00:17:47.43 condemning people that do what they used to do. 00:17:47.46\00:17:51.33 They avoid people that do what they used to do. 00:17:51.37\00:17:56.00 Now while Jesus did not hang around people 00:17:56.04\00:17:59.91 that were sinful to become sinful. 00:17:59.94\00:18:02.98 He was an ambassador. 00:18:03.01\00:18:04.78 He was a heavenly ambassador. 00:18:04.81\00:18:06.61 No, I'm not saying to hang around people 00:18:06.65\00:18:07.98 that do things 00:18:08.02\00:18:09.35 that will cause you to fall or tremble or slip 00:18:09.38\00:18:12.85 but here's the point. 00:18:12.89\00:18:14.26 If you are only living the life 00:18:14.29\00:18:15.96 where "I don't do this, I don't do that," 00:18:15.99\00:18:17.59 you are a very unhappy person to be around. 00:18:17.63\00:18:22.60 And then what happens is you begin to be self righteous. 00:18:22.63\00:18:25.57 Remember the Pharisees prayer? 00:18:25.60\00:18:27.54 What did he pray? 00:18:27.57\00:18:29.07 "Thank God, that I'm not like other men." 00:18:29.10\00:18:34.64 They do that, I don't that. They do, I don't do. 00:18:34.68\00:18:37.11 "I pay tithe, well, I fast twice a week. 00:18:37.15\00:18:40.32 Man alive, I'm just not-- I'm not like that guy." 00:18:40.35\00:18:46.12 What did the publican say? 00:18:46.15\00:18:48.36 "Be merciful to me a sinner." 00:18:48.39\00:18:51.43 They don't look at it. Exactly. 00:18:51.46\00:18:53.50 Don't just look at yourself and say, "I don't do." 00:18:53.53\00:18:55.76 And there is so many of us that have this, 00:18:55.80\00:18:57.27 don't, don't, don't, don't, don't category. 00:18:57.30\00:18:59.47 But sometimes what it does, it creates a barrier between us 00:18:59.50\00:19:02.27 and our other brothers and sisters 00:19:02.30\00:19:03.97 in other places in other walks of life, 00:19:04.01\00:19:05.71 in other spiritual denominations, 00:19:05.74\00:19:07.14 in other churches that are still growing 00:19:07.18\00:19:10.98 like we are still growing. 00:19:11.01\00:19:12.88 And they may not know all that we know. 00:19:12.91\00:19:15.22 But here's the key. 00:19:15.25\00:19:16.69 Be very careful because "to whom much is given, much is 00:19:16.72\00:19:21.36 required." So make sure this part, 00:19:21.39\00:19:22.72 it doesn't say just reckon yourselves to be dead. 00:19:22.76\00:19:24.33 Don't say, I don't do that anymore. 00:19:24.36\00:19:25.69 I don't smoke anymore. 00:19:25.73\00:19:27.06 I don't watch those movies anymore. 00:19:27.10\00:19:28.43 I don't watch these on the internet. 00:19:28.46\00:19:29.80 I don't go to these places anymore. 00:19:29.83\00:19:31.17 If that's all that our new life is comprised of then, 00:19:31.20\00:19:33.37 man, what do you do? 00:19:33.40\00:19:36.04 So people say, 00:19:36.07\00:19:37.41 so what do you want-- What can you do? 00:19:37.44\00:19:39.97 And that very thought was planted in the mind of Eve 00:19:40.01\00:19:42.14 when Satan said, 00:19:42.18\00:19:44.05 "Has God really said that 00:19:44.08\00:19:45.41 you cannot eat of every tree of the garden." 00:19:45.45\00:19:47.18 He was in essence saying is there anything you can do? 00:19:47.22\00:19:49.62 Has God prohibited you from doing anything? 00:19:49.65\00:19:52.42 So don't just reckon yourself to be dead 00:19:52.45\00:19:53.99 but you have to have 00:19:54.02\00:19:55.36 a living relationship with Christ 00:19:55.39\00:19:57.99 so that when people see it, and they say, 00:19:58.03\00:19:59.49 "Man, that person has something 00:19:59.53\00:20:01.93 that I need to have." 00:20:01.96\00:20:03.67 Right? 00:20:03.70\00:20:05.10 Like a team wins a championship they don't say, 00:20:05.13\00:20:08.70 "Ah, we just won the championship." 00:20:08.74\00:20:11.91 The fans are going nuts. They are going crazy. 00:20:11.94\00:20:15.88 And while the people in the stands 00:20:15.91\00:20:17.25 are yelling we won. 00:20:17.28\00:20:18.61 The only ones that really won were the ones on the court. 00:20:18.65\00:20:22.35 You have to have a living, thriving life 00:20:22.38\00:20:23.89 so that people are positively affected 00:20:23.92\00:20:26.76 by the life you have in Christ. 00:20:26.79\00:20:29.96 I'll give some illustrations as I go on. 00:20:29.99\00:20:31.96 Look at the third part of this. 00:20:31.99\00:20:33.33 So that verse what makes it delightful? 00:20:33.36\00:20:37.00 Why should making godly choices be delightful to the Christian? 00:20:37.03\00:20:39.63 So that we could be alive unto God. 00:20:39.67\00:20:42.27 Good choices brings life. 00:20:42.30\00:20:43.94 It doesn't just death 00:20:43.97\00:20:45.74 but it introduces life to us. Third part. 00:20:45.77\00:20:47.51 Here it is. 00:20:47.54\00:20:49.14 Romans 6:13 "And do not present your members 00:20:49.18\00:20:54.68 as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, 00:20:54.72\00:20:58.25 but present yourselves to God as being" what? 00:20:58.29\00:21:01.49 Alive. "Alive from the dead." 00:21:01.52\00:21:03.59 And what about your mind, your faculties? 00:21:03.63\00:21:05.69 "And your members as" what? Instruments. 00:21:05.73\00:21:08.33 "Instruments of righteousness to God." 00:21:08.36\00:21:11.73 Let's break that down, all right. 00:21:11.77\00:21:15.14 How of you have a mind? Raise your hand. 00:21:15.17\00:21:17.31 Some of you don't have a mind. 00:21:19.97\00:21:22.41 Caught you. 00:21:22.44\00:21:23.78 Her mind was working that's why she didn't raise her hand. 00:21:27.65\00:21:29.78 Okay. 00:21:32.95\00:21:35.12 when you look at the scripture it's saying 00:21:35.16\00:21:38.23 the same hand that you used to do wrong 00:21:38.26\00:21:41.36 you got to now use to do right. 00:21:41.40\00:21:44.43 But you got to train it. 00:21:44.47\00:21:47.67 The same mind that you use to store evil 00:21:47.70\00:21:50.91 you got to now use it to store good. 00:21:50.94\00:21:52.64 Go with me to Isaiah 1. 00:21:52.67\00:21:54.54 I just want to show you this. 00:21:54.58\00:21:55.91 I'm not gonna show you the part that we're gonna use later on. 00:21:55.94\00:21:58.85 But I want to show you Isaiah 1. 00:21:58.88\00:22:00.62 And by the way, many of you who are watching tonight 00:22:00.65\00:22:02.68 may have seen as the camera panned around 00:22:02.72\00:22:04.55 you didn't see my wife. 00:22:04.59\00:22:05.92 My wife is spending some time in Orlando with her mom. 00:22:05.95\00:22:08.12 Hello, family, in Orlando. Miss you, Honey. 00:22:08.16\00:22:10.76 Look forward to seeing you in just a couple of days. 00:22:10.79\00:22:13.50 Yes, that's the fun of a live program. 00:22:13.53\00:22:17.23 Praise the Lord. 00:22:17.27\00:22:19.33 Okay, Isaiah 1, is that where you are? 00:22:19.37\00:22:23.77 Yes. Great. 00:22:23.81\00:22:25.14 Isaiah 1. 00:22:25.17\00:22:27.51 Let's look... 00:22:27.54\00:22:28.88 at verse 16. 00:22:31.51\00:22:34.02 Isaiah 1:16, 00:22:34.05\00:22:36.35 and we will get the fourth part 00:22:36.38\00:22:37.72 of this question in just a moment 00:22:37.75\00:22:39.09 but Isaiah 1:16 reads as follows. 00:22:39.12\00:22:41.49 "Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean, 00:22:41.52\00:22:46.93 put away the evil of your doings 00:22:46.96\00:22:49.46 from before My eyes. 00:22:49.50\00:22:52.77 Cease to do evil, learn to do good." 00:22:52.80\00:22:56.81 Notice that it's talking about choices that we make. 00:22:56.84\00:23:00.14 Now who really makes us clean? 00:23:00.18\00:23:01.51 Somebody tell me. 00:23:01.54\00:23:03.18 Who makes us clean? 00:23:03.21\00:23:04.55 Jesus. Jesus does. 00:23:04.58\00:23:05.91 "Though your sins be as scarlet, 00:23:05.95\00:23:07.28 they shall be as white as snow, 00:23:07.32\00:23:08.65 though they are red like crimson, 00:23:08.68\00:23:10.02 they shall be as wool." 00:23:10.05\00:23:11.39 That's clearly who makes us clean. 00:23:11.42\00:23:12.75 But when the Bible says, 00:23:12.79\00:23:14.12 "He that has this hope in himself purifies himself, 00:23:14.16\00:23:15.49 even as he is pure." 00:23:15.52\00:23:16.93 Even as he is pure means 00:23:16.96\00:23:18.59 like the parent will clean the house 00:23:18.63\00:23:19.96 and say to the kids, "I'm going out now 00:23:20.00\00:23:21.33 and I've cleaned the house. 00:23:21.36\00:23:22.70 Keep it that way." 00:23:22.73\00:23:25.83 So when you look at this 00:23:25.87\00:23:27.20 it's saying here are the choices. 00:23:27.24\00:23:29.24 "Wash yourselves" in other words make sure 00:23:29.27\00:23:30.61 that you are living a clean life, 00:23:30.64\00:23:32.37 a clean existence. 00:23:32.41\00:23:33.91 Everything about our lives need to be clean. 00:23:33.94\00:23:37.41 That is, our choices need to be clean. 00:23:37.45\00:23:39.18 Our environment need to be clean. 00:23:39.21\00:23:40.85 The things we watch and listen to need to be clean. 00:23:40.88\00:23:43.32 And here's what else it says. 00:23:43.35\00:23:44.89 Verse 16, "Put away the evil of your doings 00:23:44.92\00:23:47.16 from before Mine eyes. 00:23:47.19\00:23:48.52 Cease to do evil, learn to do good." 00:23:48.56\00:23:51.23 And then you get to the part, 00:23:51.26\00:23:52.59 "Seek justice, reprove the oppressor, 00:23:52.63\00:23:54.63 defend the fatherless, plead for the widow." 00:23:54.66\00:23:56.87 All these are characters and attributes, 00:23:56.90\00:23:59.07 characteristics and attributes of those 00:23:59.10\00:24:01.10 who are now walking in the newness of life. 00:24:01.14\00:24:03.77 They cease to do what they did before 00:24:03.81\00:24:05.97 and now they are making choices that are living choices. 00:24:06.01\00:24:08.54 Choices that cause them to become stronger. 00:24:08.58\00:24:11.15 Amen. Praise God. Right. You got that? 00:24:11.18\00:24:13.05 Look at the next one, 00:24:13.08\00:24:14.45 the fourth one of the same question, 00:24:14.48\00:24:16.48 2 Corinthians 5:15, 00:24:16.52\00:24:18.72 here it is speaking about the Christian, 00:24:18.75\00:24:21.79 speaking about Christ. 00:24:21.82\00:24:23.26 "And He died" for how many of us? 00:24:23.29\00:24:25.56 "For all, that those who live 00:24:25.59\00:24:29.70 should live no longer for themselves, 00:24:29.73\00:24:33.44 but for Him who died for them and rose again." 00:24:33.47\00:24:37.64 Now that is an unselfish verse. 00:24:37.67\00:24:40.61 You know, what it is, in essence, saying? 00:24:40.64\00:24:42.11 Before you gave your life to Christ 00:24:42.14\00:24:43.65 who did you live for? 00:24:43.68\00:24:45.11 Somebody, who did you live for? 00:24:45.15\00:24:46.65 Self. Say it loudly. 00:24:46.68\00:24:48.02 Who did you live for? Self. 00:24:48.05\00:24:49.38 Self. Exactly. 00:24:49.42\00:24:50.75 That's why Lucifer got kicked out. 00:24:50.79\00:24:52.15 He had "I" problems. 00:24:52.19\00:24:54.29 Have you noticed-- this is scary. 00:24:54.32\00:24:57.16 We live in the "I" generation. 00:24:57.19\00:24:59.63 iPad, iPod, 00:24:59.66\00:25:02.36 I, I, I, I, I, iPhone. 00:25:02.40\00:25:07.37 I mean, you go down the list. 00:25:07.40\00:25:09.54 I have an iPad, I have an iPod 00:25:09.57\00:25:13.44 but I don't want to have "I" trouble. 00:25:13.48\00:25:15.04 Amen. I think you're right. 00:25:15.08\00:25:16.95 See. 00:25:16.98\00:25:18.41 Satan, he lost his estate in heaven because he had, 00:25:18.45\00:25:21.82 everything was about him. 00:25:21.85\00:25:23.69 Brothers and sisters, when it becomes, 00:25:23.72\00:25:25.55 when we become Christians 00:25:25.59\00:25:26.92 it should no longer be about us. 00:25:26.96\00:25:28.29 We are not living for ourselves, 00:25:28.32\00:25:30.03 we are living for who now? 00:25:30.06\00:25:31.39 Christ. We're living for God. 00:25:31.43\00:25:32.79 Let me tell you why that text is vitally important. 00:25:32.83\00:25:34.70 When it says, 00:25:34.73\00:25:36.06 "But for Him who died for them and rose again." 00:25:36.10\00:25:39.70 In other words, for people that don't know God 00:25:39.73\00:25:43.47 they need to have some kind of representation in the earth 00:25:43.51\00:25:47.08 that God really does exist. 00:25:47.11\00:25:48.58 So somebody who is an atheist says, 00:25:48.61\00:25:51.65 "What can you tell me to prove to me that God exist?" 00:25:51.68\00:25:55.78 Here's your testimony. 00:25:55.82\00:25:57.62 Here's how I used to be. 00:25:57.65\00:25:59.62 Here's how I am now and there is no one 00:25:59.65\00:26:03.46 that could have changed me 00:26:03.49\00:26:04.83 except a power greater than myself. 00:26:04.86\00:26:07.90 Amen. Amen. 00:26:07.93\00:26:09.26 So the changed life is the greatest testimony 00:26:09.30\00:26:11.63 that's why I think it's in Matthew 5 00:26:11.67\00:26:13.54 when the Lord says, 00:26:13.57\00:26:14.90 "Let your light so shine before men, 00:26:14.94\00:26:17.44 that they may see your" what? 00:26:17.47\00:26:19.51 "Good works and" do what? 00:26:19.54\00:26:21.34 "Glorify your Father" which is where? 00:26:21.38\00:26:23.88 "In heaven." That's a key. 00:26:23.91\00:26:25.81 We will say, they will say, "where is God?" 00:26:25.85\00:26:27.25 He is in heaven. 00:26:27.28\00:26:29.48 And they say, "Well, how do I know that?" 00:26:29.52\00:26:31.42 Look at my works. 00:26:31.45\00:26:33.19 Now you know who I used to be. 00:26:33.22\00:26:35.09 And some of our friends, whenever I go back to New York 00:26:35.12\00:26:38.46 and I revisit the neighborhood where I was raised 00:26:38.49\00:26:41.60 that pool hall is still there where I used to gamble. 00:26:41.63\00:26:44.23 Some of my friends have since then died 00:26:44.27\00:26:46.87 from whatever they got involved in. 00:26:46.90\00:26:49.54 But sometimes I meet people that would say, 00:26:49.57\00:26:51.61 "Man, you look like you're doing good for yourself. 00:26:51.64\00:26:55.34 So what you're up to?" 00:26:55.38\00:26:56.71 And when I say, "Well, I'm a pastor." 00:26:56.75\00:26:58.08 They say, "Now, really, are you serious? 00:26:58.11\00:27:01.62 You are pastor, come on now." 00:27:01.65\00:27:03.08 Hey, you know, they call that-- 00:27:03.12\00:27:04.52 they want to take me back to where we were. 00:27:04.55\00:27:06.55 "I mean, really you're pastor?" 00:27:06.59\00:27:08.22 "I mean, you don't shoot no pool anymore?" 00:27:08.26\00:27:09.59 No, I lay that down." 00:27:09.62\00:27:10.96 "You don't gamble anymore?" No, I lay that down. 00:27:10.99\00:27:13.29 "So when you become a preacher?" 00:27:13.33\00:27:16.00 See, the life, the changed life is a testament 00:27:16.03\00:27:20.00 because I'll tell you honestly I would have never guessed, 00:27:20.04\00:27:23.54 you could have never said to me 00:27:23.57\00:27:24.91 when I was in the clubs and partying and gambling 00:27:24.94\00:27:26.78 and pool hustling 00:27:26.81\00:27:29.61 and all the other things that go along with that. 00:27:29.64\00:27:30.98 You could have never said to me 00:27:31.01\00:27:32.35 that I would be standing here doing what I'm doing today. 00:27:32.38\00:27:34.42 But that's the power of a changed life. 00:27:34.45\00:27:35.85 That's an amen right there. 00:27:35.88\00:27:37.22 Amen. 00:27:37.25\00:27:38.59 There ought to be a difference so we-- but the only way that 00:27:38.62\00:27:40.99 that difference is gonna be seen to others 00:27:41.02\00:27:43.26 is if we begin to no longer live for ourselves 00:27:43.29\00:27:47.10 well, we began to live for who? 00:27:47.13\00:27:48.46 Christ. 00:27:48.50\00:27:49.86 So people would say, 00:27:49.90\00:27:51.23 "Well, how do you know that Jesus lives?" 00:27:51.27\00:27:52.60 What's the song says? 00:27:52.63\00:27:54.60 "You ask me how I know He lives? 00:27:54.64\00:27:56.30 He lives" where? "Within my heart." 00:27:56.34\00:27:58.74 See. 00:27:58.77\00:28:00.11 But they won't-- 00:28:00.14\00:28:02.61 True story, check this out when you get a chance. 00:28:02.64\00:28:04.08 Mahatma Gandhi, Mahatma Gandhi 00:28:04.11\00:28:08.05 before he became Buddhist 00:28:08.08\00:28:11.05 he spent the summer at a Christian's house 00:28:11.09\00:28:14.32 and he concluded if that's what a Christian is 00:28:14.36\00:28:16.89 I don't want to be a Christian. 00:28:16.93\00:28:19.09 And he became now one of the most 00:28:19.13\00:28:20.90 prominent individuals in his religion 00:28:20.93\00:28:25.13 because he saw the wrong representation of Jesus. 00:28:25.17\00:28:29.27 You see, when we live for Christ 00:28:29.30\00:28:31.44 people no longer get distorted. 00:28:31.47\00:28:35.04 I was in Wal-Mart few hours ago 00:28:35.08\00:28:39.45 and somebody walked by and said 00:28:39.48\00:28:40.82 "Hi, how you're doing?" 00:28:40.85\00:28:42.25 And I turned to see who was and he said, 00:28:42.28\00:28:43.82 "You don't know me but I do know you." 00:28:43.85\00:28:46.79 And I'm thinking... 00:28:46.82\00:28:48.16 that's why we have to always be mindful 00:28:51.46\00:28:53.76 that we don't live unto ourselves. 00:28:53.80\00:28:55.36 Isn't that right? It's right. 00:28:55.40\00:28:56.83 So when you, 00:28:56.87\00:28:58.20 this is some of the most practical stuff. 00:28:58.23\00:28:59.57 I mean, I like this say because what happens is 00:28:59.60\00:29:02.00 this is not saying well, the Sabbath 00:29:02.04\00:29:03.37 you can't change at the state of the dead, 00:29:03.41\00:29:04.74 that's the fact no matter whether you believe it or not. 00:29:04.77\00:29:06.11 All those doctrinal things are facts 00:29:06.14\00:29:08.11 but how do we live this thing called Christianity? 00:29:08.14\00:29:10.71 We ought to live the life 00:29:10.75\00:29:12.08 that we're preparing to live for eternally. 00:29:12.11\00:29:14.02 Amen. 00:29:14.05\00:29:15.38 Don't wait till we get on the boat to say, 00:29:15.42\00:29:17.02 "Hey, vacation is tomorrow. 00:29:17.05\00:29:18.55 I'll pack when I go on vacation." 00:29:18.59\00:29:20.26 You better pack before you go. 00:29:20.29\00:29:22.16 Get everything you need 00:29:22.19\00:29:23.76 before you go on vacation, right. 00:29:23.79\00:29:25.23 So let's go to question number nine. 00:29:25.53\00:29:26.86 If you want to put the answer there 00:29:26.90\00:29:28.26 on the fourth part of question number eight 00:29:28.30\00:29:30.30 you begin to live for Jesus. 00:29:30.33\00:29:33.03 "Why should making godly choices be 00:29:33.07\00:29:34.74 delightful to the Christian?" 00:29:34.77\00:29:36.10 Because you represent Christ. You represent Jesus. 00:29:36.14\00:29:40.68 While my wife is not here I represent my wife. 00:29:40.71\00:29:44.11 I life as though she is standing right next to me. 00:29:44.15\00:29:49.45 Amen. 00:29:49.48\00:29:52.55 The single people didn't say anything. 00:29:52.59\00:29:54.36 Whether we see God or not as somebody once said, 00:29:58.33\00:30:02.66 "How can you love those, 00:30:02.70\00:30:06.74 how can you love a God that you do not see 00:30:06.77\00:30:09.17 if you don't love those that you can see?" 00:30:09.20\00:30:11.57 So we have to live. 00:30:11.61\00:30:12.94 The witness has to be one to one. 00:30:12.97\00:30:14.48 It has to be horizontal 00:30:14.51\00:30:19.01 before it's vertical, all right. 00:30:19.05\00:30:22.12 Number nine, this is really important. 00:30:22.15\00:30:25.12 Here we go, number nine. 00:30:25.15\00:30:26.92 "What makes the death of Jesus different 00:30:26.96\00:30:30.59 from the resurrection of Jesus?" 00:30:30.63\00:30:32.09 Now I want you to get this. 00:30:32.13\00:30:33.46 This is, this one, you see ROTC, 00:30:33.50\00:30:35.66 no that's not a military service, okay. 00:30:35.70\00:30:39.83 I'm not gonna ask you what it is 00:30:39.87\00:30:41.20 because it's my own acronym. 00:30:41.24\00:30:45.27 "What makes the death of Jesus 00:30:45.31\00:30:46.64 different from the resurrection of Jesus?" 00:30:46.68\00:30:48.51 Here it is. 00:30:48.54\00:30:49.88 The death of Jesus this is on the screen, 00:30:49.91\00:30:52.51 represents the redemption of the cross. 00:30:52.55\00:30:56.28 The death of Jesus represents the redemption. 00:30:56.32\00:30:59.29 The cross redeemed us. 00:30:59.32\00:31:00.76 The redemption of the cross. 00:31:00.79\00:31:02.92 There are those who have been redeemed. 00:31:02.96\00:31:05.76 There are those who are redeemed. 00:31:05.79\00:31:07.90 But that's simply what the death of Jesus does. 00:31:07.93\00:31:11.83 But what does the resurrection of Jesus do? 00:31:11.87\00:31:14.30 You see, if we only live the death of Jesus, 00:31:14.34\00:31:16.04 then we die to sin. 00:31:16.07\00:31:18.04 But that's not where the Lord wants us to stop. 00:31:18.07\00:31:20.08 We have to live on the other side 00:31:20.11\00:31:21.51 of the death of Christ. 00:31:21.54\00:31:22.88 So we have the resurrection of Jesus, TROC, 00:31:22.91\00:31:26.38 the resurrection of the cross. 00:31:26.41\00:31:28.48 ROTC is resurrection of the cross, okay. 00:31:28.52\00:31:31.52 But now here is the other side of that. 00:31:31.55\00:31:34.59 This is the practical side. 00:31:34.62\00:31:36.76 The second part is the "Fellowship of the Cross." 00:31:39.89\00:31:43.33 The death of Jesus was the redemption of the cross. 00:31:43.37\00:31:46.13 The resurrection of Jesus brings us into the what? 00:31:46.17\00:31:49.64 The fellowship of the cross. 00:31:49.67\00:31:53.27 It brings us into what? 00:31:53.31\00:31:54.98 The fellowship of the cross. 00:31:55.01\00:31:56.85 So you have here the resurrection. 00:31:56.88\00:31:59.01 Now you wouldn't have fellowship with Christ. 00:31:59.05\00:32:01.68 Could we have fellowship with somebody that's still dead, 00:32:01.72\00:32:03.62 yes or no? 00:32:03.65\00:32:04.99 No. No, you can't. 00:32:05.02\00:32:06.52 So now He didn't stand the grave, He came out. 00:32:06.55\00:32:09.89 The word fellowship there is the Greek word Koinonia. 00:32:09.92\00:32:14.06 Now the fellowship is talking about, 00:32:14.10\00:32:15.46 there is not fellowship dinner, all right. 00:32:15.50\00:32:19.40 It's not a social, 00:32:19.43\00:32:21.80 it's not popcorn and corn dogs, 00:32:21.84\00:32:27.51 Veja-Links, that's not what he is talking about. 00:32:27.54\00:32:30.45 He is talking about the only way 00:32:30.48\00:32:31.81 that you're gonna have fellowship with the Lord 00:32:31.85\00:32:34.68 who represents the light 00:32:34.72\00:32:36.38 as if you also are in that light. 00:32:36.42\00:32:39.95 Now the fellowship of the cross brings to our table 00:32:39.99\00:32:44.09 something that was not available before 00:32:44.13\00:32:46.23 because it was not until Jesus died 00:32:46.26\00:32:48.60 that the fellowship of the cross 00:32:48.63\00:32:50.10 was made available. 00:32:50.13\00:32:51.47 Now there were those who lived for God prior to that 00:32:51.50\00:32:53.47 but until Jesus rose again 00:32:53.50\00:32:55.67 until He came forth from the empty tomb 00:32:55.70\00:32:57.17 the fellowship of the cross was not available 00:32:57.21\00:33:00.71 because it came forth as a redemptive act. 00:33:00.74\00:33:03.31 It came forth as a redemptive act 00:33:03.35\00:33:04.98 when the resurrection was complete 00:33:05.01\00:33:07.38 then fellowship was made possible. 00:33:07.42\00:33:10.19 That's why and get-- 00:33:10.22\00:33:12.35 look at what fellowship did to the New Testament Church. 00:33:12.39\00:33:15.49 On the day of Pentecost 00:33:15.52\00:33:16.86 what happened because of fellowship? 00:33:16.89\00:33:18.23 How many people joined the church? 00:33:18.26\00:33:19.89 How many people? Somebody tell me. 00:33:19.93\00:33:21.33 Three thousand. Three thousand. 00:33:21.36\00:33:23.00 Next baptism was how many? 00:33:23.03\00:33:25.07 Five thousand. 00:33:25.10\00:33:26.43 Then by the time you get to Acts Chapter 5 00:33:26.47\00:33:27.97 it says then multitudes. 00:33:28.00\00:33:30.21 Now get this, this is so important 00:33:30.24\00:33:31.57 you don't want to miss this. 00:33:31.61\00:33:32.94 Fellowship should not happen with brothers and sisters 00:33:32.97\00:33:35.48 of the like faith just once a week. 00:33:35.51\00:33:37.85 Amen. That's right. 00:33:37.88\00:33:39.21 That is not the redemptive, that's not the redemption 00:33:39.25\00:33:42.58 that Jesus gave to us. 00:33:42.62\00:33:43.95 What did the New Testament Church do? 00:33:43.99\00:33:45.45 This is vitally important. 00:33:45.49\00:33:47.02 The one of the reasons why-- and this is what troubles me. 00:33:47.06\00:33:50.13 When "Christians" can only stand 00:33:50.16\00:33:52.76 a few hours in church once a week 00:33:52.79\00:33:54.76 and I got to get out of here as quickly as I can. 00:33:54.80\00:33:57.10 I'm asking myself the question, 00:33:57.13\00:33:58.47 they don't understand the fellowship of the cross. 00:33:58.50\00:34:00.64 Amen. 00:34:00.67\00:34:03.24 Because the fellowship of the cross says 00:34:03.27\00:34:05.14 we abide not in the shadow of the cross 00:34:05.17\00:34:08.18 which is the death 00:34:08.21\00:34:09.71 but we now abide in the light of the cross, 00:34:09.74\00:34:12.68 which is a new life. 00:34:12.71\00:34:14.65 So can you imagine, 00:34:14.68\00:34:16.58 I know when holidays come sometimes 00:34:16.62\00:34:18.82 I see people walk out of Wal-Mart 00:34:18.85\00:34:20.19 there are like seven or eight videos. 00:34:20.22\00:34:22.96 What do you think they are gonna do all weekend? 00:34:22.99\00:34:24.33 They got Monday off. 00:34:24.36\00:34:25.69 I got Monday off, I'm gonna watch videos 00:34:25.73\00:34:27.06 and eat popcorn all weekend long. 00:34:27.10\00:34:29.10 And those same individuals give me 45 minutes of church, 00:34:29.13\00:34:31.73 and I'm out of here. 00:34:31.77\00:34:33.54 That is not. 00:34:33.57\00:34:35.04 That is not the fellowship of the cross. 00:34:35.07\00:34:37.81 So here's my point. 00:34:37.84\00:34:39.17 The fellowship of the cross 00:34:39.21\00:34:40.54 brings you into a relationship with Christ 00:34:40.58\00:34:43.71 and with like believers that brings a joy 00:34:43.75\00:34:46.35 that nothing else can ever sustain. 00:34:46.38\00:34:50.42 Amen. 00:34:50.45\00:34:51.85 Because people, they are like computers. 00:34:51.89\00:34:53.22 What do they talk about? 00:34:53.25\00:34:54.59 What do they talk about? 00:34:54.62\00:34:55.96 Computers. Whatever you're interested. 00:34:55.99\00:34:57.33 Okay, whatever we are interested in 00:34:57.36\00:34:58.99 that's the majority of our conversation. 00:34:59.03\00:35:00.90 Our lives that we live should be a constant testimony 00:35:05.43\00:35:08.10 that we can't wait for fellowship 00:35:08.14\00:35:10.04 that's gonna be in heaven. 00:35:10.07\00:35:12.31 From one Sabbath to another 00:35:12.34\00:35:14.74 "Shall all flesh come to worship before me." 00:35:14.78\00:35:18.18 Amen. Praise God. 00:35:18.21\00:35:19.55 They're not gonna say, "Lord, you know, it's 12:15. 00:35:19.58\00:35:22.35 I got to go and sit home for the rest of the Sabbath." 00:35:25.45\00:35:30.16 How long You're gonna talk? 00:35:30.19\00:35:31.53 Paul the apostle understood the fellowship of the cross 00:35:31.56\00:35:34.20 that's why he said, Eutychus, until you get this, 00:35:34.23\00:35:37.50 he brought him back to life by the power of God. 00:35:37.53\00:35:40.37 Eutychus, you didn't get this. 00:35:40.40\00:35:41.74 The fellowship of the cross doesn't end at midnight. 00:35:41.77\00:35:45.77 You get what I'm saying here? Yes. 00:35:45.81\00:35:48.01 The reason why they were there all day long, 00:35:48.04\00:35:49.51 it was the fellowship of the cross. 00:35:49.54\00:35:51.85 The reason why they went from house to house every day 00:35:51.88\00:35:53.82 was the fellowship of the cross. 00:35:53.85\00:35:55.32 Here's what I'm saying, 00:35:55.35\00:35:56.69 how can you ever get strong in something 00:35:56.72\00:35:58.05 you professed to have as a living, 00:35:58.09\00:35:59.62 as a living experience 00:35:59.65\00:36:00.99 if you spend so little time in it? 00:36:01.02\00:36:04.76 This is what I'm talking about. 00:36:04.79\00:36:06.13 This is the practical parts, alive unto God. 00:36:06.16\00:36:07.73 How can you be a cook 00:36:07.76\00:36:10.37 if you only cook one meal a week? 00:36:10.40\00:36:12.97 Amen. 00:36:13.00\00:36:14.34 You can't get a culinary degree with TV dinners in your oven. 00:36:14.37\00:36:17.71 Oh, exactly. 00:36:20.08\00:36:22.11 But the point of the matter is 00:36:22.14\00:36:23.48 you've got to spend time 00:36:23.51\00:36:24.85 in the very thing that you professed 00:36:24.88\00:36:26.65 to be a living experience of yours. 00:36:26.68\00:36:29.65 So those are comfortable in fellowship 00:36:29.68\00:36:32.55 are getting ready for eternal life 00:36:32.59\00:36:35.19 are getting ready for the kingdom to come. 00:36:35.22\00:36:38.16 Wow, amazing concept. 00:36:38.19\00:36:41.43 Here it is. Look at the third part of this. 00:36:41.46\00:36:43.87 That's why the third part is so vitally important. 00:36:43.90\00:36:45.40 Roman 6:8. 00:36:45.43\00:36:47.44 I'm breaking it down tonight. 00:36:47.47\00:36:49.60 Let's read this together. 00:36:49.64\00:36:50.97 "Now if we" what? 00:36:51.01\00:36:53.41 "Died with Christ, 00:36:53.44\00:36:54.91 we believe that we shall also" do what? 00:36:54.94\00:36:57.31 "Live with Him." 00:36:57.35\00:36:58.68 One of the biggest mistakes we make is that 00:36:58.71\00:37:00.65 is to apply that text to just eternity. 00:37:00.68\00:37:05.22 Where do we live with Him? 00:37:05.25\00:37:06.76 Down here, right now. 00:37:06.79\00:37:09.36 Remember a couple of weeks ago we had that text, 00:37:09.39\00:37:11.09 I think was last week. 00:37:11.13\00:37:12.59 Let me see if it's in my lesson. 00:37:12.63\00:37:13.96 Here it is. 00:37:14.00\00:37:15.33 "For the grace of God," Titus 2:11, 12. 00:37:15.36\00:37:16.77 "For the grace of God 00:37:16.80\00:37:18.13 that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 00:37:18.17\00:37:20.34 teaching us that, 00:37:20.37\00:37:21.70 denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, 00:37:21.74\00:37:24.67 we should live soberly, righteously, 00:37:24.71\00:37:27.81 and godly in this present age." 00:37:27.84\00:37:29.81 Amen. Amen. 00:37:29.84\00:37:31.18 That's what's happening. 00:37:31.21\00:37:32.55 When you are so excited about something, 00:37:32.58\00:37:33.92 when I was growing up I had baseball cards galore. 00:37:33.95\00:37:36.38 That was my hobby. 00:37:39.45\00:37:40.79 Whatever your hobby is 00:37:40.82\00:37:42.16 you have a whole lot of that stuff. 00:37:42.19\00:37:43.53 Amen. Right? 00:37:43.56\00:37:45.29 You know, it's so nice. 00:37:45.33\00:37:47.03 I got so many, on my bedhead 00:37:47.06\00:37:49.40 I want a change on our bed head 00:37:49.43\00:37:50.77 because my bed has become a library. 00:37:50.80\00:37:53.10 I got three Bibles, 00:37:53.13\00:37:54.47 I got all the books that I'm reading, 00:37:54.50\00:37:55.84 all the latest materials. 00:37:55.87\00:37:57.74 You know, why? Because that fascinates me. 00:37:57.77\00:37:59.61 Here's my point, 00:37:59.64\00:38:00.98 if your diet is not a spiritual diet 00:38:01.01\00:38:02.74 and it doesn't bring you delight 00:38:02.78\00:38:05.08 then that new life in Christ 00:38:05.11\00:38:06.65 has not yet taken root inside of your heart. 00:38:06.68\00:38:09.92 Amen. 00:38:09.95\00:38:11.75 And there are some people that studied 00:38:11.79\00:38:13.12 their Sabbath school lesson. 00:38:13.15\00:38:14.79 It's like, "Do we have to study the whole week?" 00:38:14.82\00:38:17.79 You see what I'm saying. 00:38:20.90\00:38:22.26 When spiritual things are not of delight 00:38:22.30\00:38:23.97 then you are not alive in Christ. 00:38:24.00\00:38:25.87 Let's look at this, question number 10. 00:38:25.90\00:38:28.50 We are moving at a good pace. 00:38:28.54\00:38:30.11 Question number 10, 00:38:30.14\00:38:32.04 "How does the Bible describe the change made 00:38:32.07\00:38:34.94 after the tomb?" 00:38:34.98\00:38:37.18 "How does the Bible describe the change made 00:38:37.21\00:38:40.58 after the tomb?" 00:38:40.62\00:38:42.98 It sure does describe it. 00:38:43.02\00:38:45.12 Okay, here it is. Are you ready for it? 00:38:45.15\00:38:47.99 Romans 6:4, It reads as follows. 00:38:48.02\00:38:52.29 "Therefore we were" what's the next word? 00:38:52.33\00:38:55.03 Buried. 00:38:55.06\00:38:56.40 "Buried with Him through" what? 00:38:56.43\00:38:58.07 "Baptism into death," that's what happened, Budd. 00:38:58.10\00:39:00.20 That's what happed, Dave. That's what happened, Marlene. 00:39:00.24\00:39:01.64 And that's what happened to all of you 00:39:01.67\00:39:03.00 who are baptized. 00:39:03.04\00:39:04.37 When you are baptized you are 00:39:04.41\00:39:05.74 "Buried with Him through baptism into death, 00:39:05.77\00:39:07.51 that just as Christ was raised from the dead 00:39:07.54\00:39:09.84 by the glory of the Father," 00:39:09.88\00:39:12.25 let's together end this 00:39:12.28\00:39:13.85 "even so we also should walk in the newness of life." 00:39:13.88\00:39:19.45 Question, you have to ask yourself this question 00:39:19.49\00:39:21.52 and answer it yourself. 00:39:21.56\00:39:22.89 I don't want your hands to be raised. 00:39:22.92\00:39:24.43 What's new since you were baptized? 00:39:24.46\00:39:28.03 What's new? What's different? 00:39:28.06\00:39:32.37 According to 2 Corinthians 5:17, 00:39:32.40\00:39:34.44 "Old things have passed away, behold, 00:39:34.47\00:39:36.17 all things have become new." 00:39:36.20\00:39:37.57 If that's not the case in your life 00:39:37.61\00:39:39.34 then you find yourself maybe being exposed to things 00:39:39.37\00:39:41.54 that are causing to slip back. 00:39:41.58\00:39:43.08 Now let me just tell you why that's vitally important. 00:39:43.11\00:39:45.68 What we have is we have a spiritual walk 00:39:45.71\00:39:47.58 or what do we struggling with? 00:39:47.62\00:39:49.28 What kind of body do we have? 00:39:49.32\00:39:50.69 A natural body. It's flesh. 00:39:50.72\00:39:52.29 So we've got this dictionary, we've got this hard drive 00:39:52.32\00:39:55.12 that has a whole lot of junk in it, right. 00:39:55.16\00:39:58.83 Every time you try to defrag it 00:39:58.86\00:40:00.36 you find that there is more junk in it. 00:40:00.40\00:40:02.63 You can't put a virus stopper. 00:40:02.66\00:40:04.30 The virus is chronic. 00:40:04.33\00:40:06.23 Matter of fact, the virus is so bad 00:40:06.27\00:40:08.04 that Lord is gonna get rid of this hard drive 00:40:08.07\00:40:09.40 and give you a new one. 00:40:09.44\00:40:10.77 Amen for that. Amen. 00:40:10.81\00:40:12.14 So you can't-- there is nothing on this hard drive. 00:40:12.17\00:40:14.21 I mean, you could, sometimes you walk past a store 00:40:14.24\00:40:16.85 and you hear a song that takes you back 30 years. 00:40:16.88\00:40:20.08 Now if you are only 15 00:40:20.12\00:40:21.45 it doesn't take you back 30 years. 00:40:21.48\00:40:24.15 But sometimes you walk past the store, 00:40:24.19\00:40:26.02 am I right, that will take you back way back? 00:40:26.05\00:40:29.56 Or sometimes you smell a perfume and you say, 00:40:29.59\00:40:33.33 "Why do I remember that? 00:40:33.36\00:40:35.10 Oh, yeah, I remember that." 00:40:35.13\00:40:37.07 And it takes you back to a place 00:40:37.10\00:40:38.43 that don't stay there too long, 00:40:38.47\00:40:41.20 that's the natural body. 00:40:41.24\00:40:42.87 And sometimes you see an ad 00:40:42.90\00:40:44.67 or sometimes you walk past a person 00:40:44.71\00:40:46.91 that just blows the cigarette as you walk by. 00:40:46.94\00:40:48.88 "Well, that's a Marlboro. 00:40:53.72\00:40:55.05 I used to smoke that, you know." 00:40:55.08\00:40:57.45 And I didn't smoke but I'm just saying. 00:40:57.49\00:40:58.82 This is what happens. 00:40:58.85\00:41:00.19 You are living in a natural world. 00:41:00.22\00:41:01.66 You walk past a bar and as you walk past it, 00:41:01.69\00:41:04.03 it just so happened the devil organizes, 00:41:04.06\00:41:05.83 so when you walk past that's when the guys coming out 00:41:05.86\00:41:08.30 so the door is wide open and you get a whiff of bear 00:41:08.33\00:41:11.63 and alcohol all mixed in one. 00:41:11.67\00:41:13.77 You know that smell of a bar. 00:41:13.80\00:41:15.24 It just comes out and hits you. 00:41:15.27\00:41:16.87 You say, 00:41:16.91\00:41:18.24 "Man, and you peek in." 00:41:20.08\00:41:24.45 And you hear a voice say, "don't go in there." 00:41:24.48\00:41:28.05 See-- but that's the struggle until you overcome all that 00:41:28.08\00:41:32.95 that's the battle that we face every day. 00:41:32.99\00:41:36.66 So this newness of life is not a suggestion. It's a command. 00:41:36.69\00:41:41.86 When you-- Christ is saying 00:41:41.90\00:41:43.23 once you enter into this walk with me 00:41:43.26\00:41:46.40 what you do after that is not optional. 00:41:46.43\00:41:49.30 This is the way that person who is in me now lives. 00:41:49.34\00:41:51.61 They live in the newness of life. 00:41:51.64\00:41:53.04 Amen. Pearls. 00:43:25.70\00:43:27.04 He was known for diving very, very deep in the ocean. 00:43:27.07\00:43:31.21 And people would come to him. 00:43:31.24\00:43:33.17 He had the record. 00:43:33.21\00:43:34.54 There are some guys and if you look at 00:43:34.58\00:43:35.91 that there are some guys 00:43:35.94\00:43:37.28 that don't put any kind of mask, nothing. 00:43:37.31\00:43:39.08 They just know how to hold their breath 00:43:39.11\00:43:40.72 and they have these fins that are very, very long 00:43:40.75\00:43:42.95 and they just dive in, people pay them 00:43:42.98\00:43:44.99 and they go down to get these oysters and come up 00:43:45.02\00:43:47.09 and if they get a good oyster then they get a good pearl. 00:43:47.12\00:43:49.62 That how the situation is. 00:43:49.66\00:43:51.53 Well, this one particular young man 00:43:51.56\00:43:52.89 who pride himself and I saw this documentary 00:43:52.93\00:43:55.76 but this story is not connected to the documentary. 00:43:55.80\00:43:57.63 I just saw the documentary about these divers 00:43:57.67\00:43:59.87 who many, many years later suffer from the bends. 00:43:59.90\00:44:03.30 It incapacitates them 00:44:03.34\00:44:04.94 and somebody dedicated himself to go 00:44:04.97\00:44:07.14 and to give me them hyperbaric chamber treatments 00:44:07.18\00:44:10.05 that begins to restore the use of their limbs. 00:44:10.08\00:44:12.38 Well, this particular story didn't happen 00:44:12.41\00:44:13.95 when the hyperbaric chamber was accessible. 00:44:13.98\00:44:16.25 This young man dove and he dove 00:44:16.28\00:44:18.22 and his father knew how long he could stay down. 00:44:18.25\00:44:21.59 But in this particular occasion with all the hype of the crowds 00:44:21.62\00:44:23.89 he wanted to just really fascinate people. 00:44:23.93\00:44:26.03 He dove and he dove and he dove and he dove 00:44:26.06\00:44:28.16 and his father was thinking, 00:44:28.20\00:44:30.37 "I hope he is all right 00:44:30.40\00:44:31.87 because he is down longer than he's ever been." 00:44:31.90\00:44:34.27 The tragedy of the story is he died. 00:44:34.30\00:44:37.61 As he came to the surface, rushing to the surface 00:44:37.64\00:44:40.11 he had gone so far down 00:44:40.14\00:44:42.18 that he had too much build up in his lungs. 00:44:42.21\00:44:46.95 And he lost conciseness, died in the hospital 00:44:46.98\00:44:51.69 but he died with that oyster in his hand. 00:44:51.72\00:44:55.06 And father opened the oyster 00:44:55.09\00:44:59.26 after the whole trauma of the situation 00:44:59.29\00:45:02.06 and he had that pearl in the oyster. 00:45:02.10\00:45:04.77 And it was a good one. 00:45:04.80\00:45:07.97 People heard about it 00:45:08.00\00:45:09.34 and they want to buy this oyster 00:45:09.37\00:45:11.31 and his father said, "This one is not for sale." 00:45:11.34\00:45:15.08 Everywhere that father went he carried about, 00:45:15.11\00:45:17.15 he carried that with him in his pocket. 00:45:17.18\00:45:19.51 When he sits down amongst his friends 00:45:19.55\00:45:21.52 he put on the desk and he just turned around. 00:45:21.55\00:45:23.28 They say, "what is that?" 00:45:23.32\00:45:25.19 That's the last thing my son got 00:45:25.22\00:45:26.76 when he went diving. 00:45:26.79\00:45:28.19 He always carried about in his body. 00:45:28.22\00:45:32.99 He always carried about the memory 00:45:33.03\00:45:34.60 of what his son's death meant to him. 00:45:34.63\00:45:37.07 He never separated it. 00:45:37.10\00:45:38.43 You could not get much space 00:45:38.47\00:45:39.80 between that man and that little oyster 00:45:39.83\00:45:42.00 or that little pearl because it represented 00:45:42.04\00:45:45.34 the life of his son. 00:45:45.37\00:45:47.11 You know, and the Parable of the Great Pearl 00:45:47.14\00:45:48.91 is told in the Bible. 00:45:48.94\00:45:50.38 It says, when a person finds the field 00:45:50.41\00:45:52.38 where that pearl is in 00:45:52.41\00:45:53.75 they go and sell everything they have 00:45:53.78\00:45:55.72 to purchase that field. 00:45:55.75\00:45:57.09 Now, you know, 00:45:57.12\00:45:58.45 what we misunderstand about that? 00:45:58.49\00:45:59.82 What we think is that when we find a pearl 00:45:59.85\00:46:03.43 we go by the field 00:46:03.46\00:46:04.79 because we found a great price in that field. 00:46:04.83\00:46:07.26 Brother, that's a misunderstanding of the story. 00:46:07.30\00:46:08.90 When you read what Ellen White says about that story, 00:46:08.93\00:46:10.87 she says, "When Christ came to this earth 00:46:10.90\00:46:13.97 and found a field He saw in that field pearls." 00:46:14.00\00:46:18.61 You, you, you of great price and He sold everything. 00:46:18.64\00:46:23.38 His royalty, 00:46:23.41\00:46:24.75 His seat in the kingdom, His perfection, 00:46:24.78\00:46:27.35 He sold adoration of the-- He gave, He gave, He said, 00:46:27.38\00:46:30.69 I'm not gonna be back for a while. 00:46:30.72\00:46:32.45 When I come back I'm not gonna be the same 00:46:32.49\00:46:34.09 but I found this sea, 00:46:34.12\00:46:35.86 I found the place of great price 00:46:35.89\00:46:37.53 I'm gonna God down there and get all those pearls. 00:46:37.56\00:46:40.06 So when the Lord makes up His jewels one day 00:46:40.10\00:46:42.90 we will all be in those jewels. 00:46:42.93\00:46:44.27 What do you say to that? Amen. 00:46:44.30\00:46:45.63 So when you think about this, what it says 00:46:45.67\00:46:47.67 is when we conceptualize that, 00:46:47.70\00:46:49.90 when we realize what the Lord 00:46:49.94\00:46:51.27 has paid to redeem every one of us 00:46:51.31\00:46:53.07 that's what this is saying here. 00:46:53.11\00:46:54.44 Paul is saying, always carrying about in the body. 00:46:54.48\00:46:57.55 In our body is the dying of the Lord Jesus Christ. 00:46:57.58\00:46:59.31 And if you live realizing 00:46:59.35\00:47:00.88 how much He has given to redeem you 00:47:00.92\00:47:03.69 then the life of Christ maybe manifested in your body. 00:47:03.72\00:47:07.36 You begin to live with an appreciation 00:47:07.39\00:47:09.29 and a different temperament. 00:47:09.32\00:47:10.79 So that father from that day on 00:47:10.83\00:47:13.06 when people talked about his son 00:47:13.09\00:47:14.70 he had nothing but good things to say about his son. 00:47:14.73\00:47:17.63 The greatest stories about his son 00:47:17.67\00:47:19.17 and he never parted 00:47:19.20\00:47:20.57 and I'm sure maybe till the day he passed away 00:47:20.60\00:47:22.94 that pearl was a constant reminder 00:47:22.97\00:47:25.24 of how valuable his son is to us. 00:47:25.27\00:47:27.41 Well, when we live our lives always remembering 00:47:27.44\00:47:29.38 what Jesus had done for us, 00:47:29.41\00:47:31.01 He died for us that the life that His life maybe seen in us. 00:47:31.05\00:47:35.05 So when you put that down, 00:47:35.08\00:47:36.42 how does the resurrected life defer from the redeemed life? 00:47:36.45\00:47:39.52 The redeemed life reveals Christ. 00:47:39.55\00:47:42.69 The redeemed life reveals Christ. 00:47:42.72\00:47:45.99 That's what you put on that first line, 00:47:46.03\00:47:47.46 the redeemed life reveals Christ in us. 00:47:47.50\00:47:51.60 The resurrected life simply makes Christ available to us. 00:47:51.63\00:47:54.30 But the redeemed life reveals Christ in us. 00:47:54.34\00:47:58.87 that's why it says, 00:47:58.91\00:48:00.54 "That the life of Jesus also may be 00:48:00.58\00:48:02.58 manifested in" whose body? 00:48:02.61\00:48:04.48 Our body. 00:48:04.51\00:48:05.85 What kind of body do we have, somebody tell me? 00:48:05.88\00:48:08.22 What kind of body do we have? 00:48:08.25\00:48:10.72 Say it loud. I heard word, mortal. 00:48:10.75\00:48:12.15 Mortal, natural. 00:48:12.19\00:48:13.52 Natural and what else? Mortal. 00:48:13.56\00:48:15.62 What kind of flesh do we have? 00:48:15.66\00:48:17.59 Sinful flesh. We've got sinful flesh. 00:48:17.63\00:48:20.53 We've got a mortal body. 00:48:20.56\00:48:21.93 We got corruptible minds and the Lord is saying, 00:48:21.96\00:48:25.80 if you consider the great redemptive price 00:48:25.83\00:48:31.07 that I've paid for you 00:48:31.11\00:48:32.57 that life will be revealed in your mortal, 00:48:32.61\00:48:35.88 corruptible and natural body. 00:48:35.91\00:48:38.08 Only divinity can reveal and something imperfect, 00:48:38.11\00:48:41.72 something perfect. 00:48:41.75\00:48:43.08 Praise God. Christ is saying. 00:48:43.12\00:48:45.39 Perfection can be seen in you now 00:48:45.42\00:48:48.56 and the Christ that died for you 00:48:51.36\00:48:52.93 His life can be revealed in our lives. 00:48:52.96\00:48:55.10 It's an amazing thought I get caught up in that. 00:48:55.13\00:48:57.77 So let me take a breath. Look at the next one. 00:48:57.80\00:49:03.71 Part two, 00:49:03.74\00:49:05.07 "How does the resurrected life differ from the redeemed life?" 00:49:05.11\00:49:07.61 Romans 8:15-17, this is long one. 00:49:07.64\00:49:10.58 Well, let's read this together. 00:49:10.61\00:49:11.95 It says, 00:49:11.98\00:49:13.31 "For you did not receive 00:49:13.35\00:49:14.68 the spirit of bondage again to" do what? 00:49:14.72\00:49:17.62 "Fear, but you received the Spirit of" what? 00:49:17.65\00:49:21.62 "Adoption by whom we cry out," together "'Abba, Father.'" 00:49:21.66\00:49:27.96 So what happens now? 00:49:28.00\00:49:31.23 What is made available to you now? 00:49:31.27\00:49:33.30 What do we have now? What do we receive? 00:49:33.34\00:49:36.77 The redeemed life. Come on, say it again. 00:49:36.81\00:49:38.37 The spirit of adoption. 00:49:38.41\00:49:39.74 The spirit of adoption, you got to get that. 00:49:39.77\00:49:42.41 Now when that helps you understand 00:49:42.44\00:49:44.15 what that means, it goes back to the story. 00:49:44.18\00:49:46.28 Whose children are we? 00:49:46.31\00:49:47.65 I told you that earlier in the story of the young girl 00:49:47.68\00:49:49.45 who just got baptized. 00:49:49.48\00:49:50.82 Whose children are we? 00:49:50.85\00:49:53.46 Whose children are we? We are God's children. 00:49:53.49\00:49:57.03 Now if you know that 00:49:57.06\00:49:59.36 whose children do you live as though you are connected to? 00:49:59.39\00:50:02.90 Whose children do you represent? 00:50:02.93\00:50:04.53 God. 00:50:04.57\00:50:05.90 We should in our lives represent God's children 00:50:05.93\00:50:09.40 because people are watching. 00:50:09.44\00:50:10.97 And, you know, what the devil does 00:50:11.01\00:50:12.34 and I think Dave and I were talking about this. 00:50:12.37\00:50:13.71 The devil will do all he can 00:50:13.74\00:50:17.78 for people to say to you, 00:50:17.81\00:50:19.65 "I thought you were Christian." 00:50:19.68\00:50:23.05 And that's what the devil tries to do. 00:50:23.08\00:50:24.42 He tries to get you. 00:50:24.45\00:50:25.79 Remember when Jonah was running from the Lord? 00:50:25.82\00:50:27.52 Remember that story in the Book of Jonah 00:50:27.56\00:50:28.89 it's an amazing story? 00:50:28.92\00:50:30.26 It's only four chapters in the whole Book of Jonah 00:50:30.29\00:50:31.63 but it's all about Jonah. 00:50:31.66\00:50:32.99 Running from God and when he got in trouble 00:50:33.03\00:50:34.86 that's when he started testifying. 00:50:34.90\00:50:36.83 "Who are you? What meanest thou, O sleeper?" 00:50:36.87\00:50:39.10 Oh, I fear God. I'm a Hebrew. 00:50:39.13\00:50:42.90 He starts testifying about his connection to God. 00:50:42.94\00:50:45.27 And in other words, he said, "If you are so connected to God 00:50:45.31\00:50:48.28 why are we going through so much trouble?" 00:50:48.31\00:50:51.08 You see the story. 00:50:51.11\00:50:52.88 Our connection to God must not be the reason 00:50:52.91\00:50:55.92 why peoples' lives are troubled. 00:50:55.95\00:50:59.52 If our presence is brining trouble to other peoples' lives 00:50:59.55\00:51:02.99 and what we are doing is not right 00:51:03.02\00:51:05.16 then our connection with God is not 00:51:05.19\00:51:06.53 where that connection should be. 00:51:06.56\00:51:07.90 That's the story of Jonah. 00:51:07.93\00:51:10.00 He claimed to be connected to God 00:51:10.03\00:51:11.50 but he spent more time going in the opposite direction 00:51:11.53\00:51:15.00 from where God was leading him. 00:51:15.04\00:51:16.37 So if we claim to be connected to God 00:51:16.40\00:51:17.74 we have to ask ourselves a question, 00:51:17.77\00:51:19.41 are we going in the opposite direction 00:51:19.44\00:51:21.78 or are we going in the direction 00:51:21.81\00:51:23.24 that God is leading us? 00:51:23.28\00:51:26.31 We're adopted. 00:51:26.35\00:51:28.52 We are children of God now. 00:51:28.55\00:51:31.42 That's right. 00:51:31.45\00:51:33.66 Look at third part of that. 00:51:33.69\00:51:35.42 Third part of that is what? 00:51:35.46\00:51:36.79 Galatians 2:20. 00:51:36.83\00:51:38.16 I think you all know this one. 00:51:38.19\00:51:39.53 Oh, I forgot I didn't finish the scripture. 00:51:39.56\00:51:41.76 I didn't finish the verse. 00:51:41.80\00:51:43.67 It says, "The Spirit Himself bears witness 00:51:43.70\00:51:46.63 with our spirit that we are" what? 00:51:46.67\00:51:49.10 "Children of God, and if children, 00:51:49.14\00:51:51.24 then" we are what? 00:51:51.27\00:51:52.64 "Heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, 00:51:52.67\00:51:57.15 if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be" what? 00:51:57.18\00:52:01.58 "Glorified together." 00:52:01.62\00:52:03.85 So we're gonna go through stuff. 00:52:03.89\00:52:05.85 Have you ever gone through anything as a Christian? 00:52:05.89\00:52:08.06 Have you been tempted? Have you had trials? 00:52:08.09\00:52:11.53 Paul the Apostle is saying, don't worry about it. 00:52:11.56\00:52:14.23 It's a part of the journey. 00:52:14.26\00:52:18.13 Why is it a part of the-- 00:52:18.17\00:52:19.50 why is difficulty and suffering 00:52:19.53\00:52:20.94 a part of the Christian journey down here? 00:52:20.97\00:52:22.84 That's what Jesus went through. Okay, very good point. 00:52:22.87\00:52:25.67 But why is it a part of the journey down here? 00:52:25.71\00:52:28.71 Okay, say it again. Satan is here. 00:52:28.74\00:52:30.11 Satan is here. We are in enemy's territory. 00:52:30.15\00:52:32.21 There is nothing about this world 00:52:32.25\00:52:33.58 that's designed for the Christian. 00:52:33.62\00:52:38.09 That's why it's got to be more than Christian music, 00:52:38.12\00:52:39.89 it's got to be more than Christian entertainment, 00:52:39.92\00:52:41.26 it's got to be a Christian connection with Christ. 00:52:41.29\00:52:44.53 If we suffer we will suffer 00:52:44.56\00:52:46.33 but we will be glorified together with Him, 00:52:46.36\00:52:48.53 praise the Lord for that. 00:52:48.56\00:52:50.07 Now here's Galatians 2:20 we could all say this together. 00:52:50.10\00:52:52.77 "How does the resurrected life differ from the redeemed life?" 00:52:52.80\00:52:55.84 Here it is. 00:52:55.87\00:52:57.64 "I have been crucified with" what? 00:52:57.67\00:52:59.64 "Christ, it is no longer I who" what? 00:52:59.67\00:53:03.31 "Live, but Christ lives" where? 00:53:03.35\00:53:05.58 "In me, and the life which I now live in the flesh 00:53:05.61\00:53:09.12 I live by faith in the Son of God, 00:53:09.15\00:53:11.99 who" did what? 00:53:12.02\00:53:13.36 "Loved me and gave Himself for me." 00:53:13.39\00:53:17.06 Now the redeemed life is 00:53:17.09\00:53:20.03 I have been crucified with Christ. 00:53:20.06\00:53:21.70 That's the redeemed life. 00:53:21.73\00:53:23.06 Lot of people are redeemed. 00:53:23.10\00:53:24.43 That's the redeemed part. 00:53:24.47\00:53:26.33 The question is 00:53:26.37\00:53:28.64 "How is the resurrected life 00:53:28.67\00:53:30.84 different from the redeemed life?" 00:53:30.87\00:53:32.37 If he just simply say, I've been crucified with Christ 00:53:32.41\00:53:34.24 that simply means you accepted His death on Calvary. 00:53:34.28\00:53:37.98 But if you get to the resurrected life 00:53:38.01\00:53:44.19 the fellowship part you say, "It is no longer I who live, 00:53:44.22\00:53:48.06 but Christ who lives in me, 00:53:48.09\00:53:49.66 and the life I now live in this faulty messed up body 00:53:49.69\00:53:52.66 I live by faith in the Son of God, 00:53:52.69\00:53:55.06 who loved me and gave Himself for me." 00:53:55.10\00:53:56.87 We've got a different connection. 00:53:56.90\00:53:58.23 We're gonna talk about how faith is a significant part 00:53:58.27\00:54:00.44 of our walk with Christ. 00:54:00.47\00:54:01.80 You don't see Him but you know he exists. 00:54:01.84\00:54:03.71 People that don't see Him must know that He exists 00:54:03.74\00:54:06.14 and the way they know is 00:54:06.17\00:54:07.51 He exists in our lives and through our lives. 00:54:07.54\00:54:09.74 Did you get that? 00:54:09.78\00:54:11.25 So who is alive now? 00:54:11.28\00:54:12.91 If you are gonna ask the-- answer the question, 00:54:12.95\00:54:14.75 "How does the resurrected life 00:54:14.78\00:54:16.15 different from the redeemed life?" 00:54:16.18\00:54:17.92 The answer for Galatians 2:20 00:54:17.95\00:54:20.46 "It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me." 00:54:20.49\00:54:25.49 Want to break that down. 00:54:25.53\00:54:26.86 "Christ lives in me." 00:54:26.90\00:54:28.50 That's the resurrected life. 00:54:28.53\00:54:30.77 "Christ lives in me." Praise God. 00:54:30.80\00:54:34.90 Here it is, number 12. 00:54:34.94\00:54:37.47 I was thinking we would get 00:54:37.51\00:54:38.84 to the next lesson but that's okay. 00:54:38.87\00:54:40.34 For next week we have the materials 00:54:40.38\00:54:41.71 and time for that, next week. 00:54:41.74\00:54:44.15 Question number 12 okay, here it is. 00:54:44.18\00:54:47.42 "Why is it important to live daily 00:54:47.45\00:54:50.45 in the 'Light of the Cross?' " 00:54:50.49\00:54:53.12 In the light of the cross. 00:54:53.15\00:54:55.26 1 John 1:7, 1 John 1:7. 00:54:55.29\00:55:00.00 Let me pick up the pace little here 00:55:00.03\00:55:01.36 so we could get these last two in 00:55:01.40\00:55:03.20 and if we miss them we can get them for next, 00:55:03.23\00:55:05.17 next week. 00:55:05.20\00:55:06.53 "Why is it important to live daily 00:55:06.57\00:55:07.90 in the 'Light of the Cross?' " 00:55:07.94\00:55:09.27 Here's the answer 1 John 1:7, 00:55:09.30\00:55:11.21 "But if we walk in the light 00:55:11.24\00:55:13.44 as He is in the light, we have" what? 00:55:13.48\00:55:16.78 "Fellowship with one another, 00:55:16.81\00:55:19.55 and the" added benefit " 00:55:19.58\00:55:20.92 and blood of Jesus Christ His Son" does what? 00:55:20.95\00:55:23.99 "Cleanses us from all sin." 00:55:24.02\00:55:25.85 Now how many of you like fellowship? 00:55:25.89\00:55:28.99 We sure all like fellowship but get this, this is powerful. 00:55:29.02\00:55:31.46 The key to fellowship is this. 00:55:31.49\00:55:33.19 You got to walk in the light and I've got to walk in light. 00:55:33.23\00:55:36.33 If you walk in the darkness, Amos says, 00:55:36.36\00:55:39.27 "Can two walk together, unless they be agreed? 00:55:39.30\00:55:41.34 And what's the answer? 00:55:41.37\00:55:42.70 No. 00:55:42.74\00:55:44.07 Lot of us want friendship but the Lord says 00:55:44.11\00:55:45.97 you can have something greater than just friendship. 00:55:46.01\00:55:47.64 You could have fellowship but both of you have to decide 00:55:47.68\00:55:50.65 to walk in the light as He is in the light. 00:55:50.68\00:55:56.25 You know, what's nice about walking in the light? 00:55:56.28\00:55:57.62 If you walk in the light and you are living right 00:55:57.65\00:55:59.05 you have nothing to hide. 00:55:59.09\00:56:01.06 Right? Amen. 00:56:01.09\00:56:02.42 You won't hesitate to walk in the light. 00:56:02.46\00:56:04.03 Because those who walk in the light the Bible says, 00:56:04.06\00:56:05.89 Jesus says, they are deeds are manifest. 00:56:05.93\00:56:08.23 But men love darkness rather than light 00:56:08.26\00:56:10.73 because their deeds are what? 00:56:10.77\00:56:12.43 Evil. 00:56:12.47\00:56:14.30 John Chapter 1. 00:56:14.34\00:56:16.24 Let's get the other one. 00:56:16.27\00:56:17.61 I think we can get these last two and if not 00:56:17.64\00:56:19.27 don't worry about it. 00:56:19.31\00:56:20.81 Question number 13 here it is. 00:56:20.84\00:56:23.45 "Why is it necessary that we trust God 00:56:23.48\00:56:25.51 and not trust feelings or ourselves?" 00:56:25.55\00:56:28.88 Why is it necessary? 00:56:28.92\00:56:30.59 I'm gonna go quickly beyond this one. 00:56:30.62\00:56:32.79 And this is a statement of affirmation 00:56:32.82\00:56:34.72 because sometime this has to sync in 00:56:34.76\00:56:36.62 and I want to get the part of this text 00:56:36.66\00:56:37.99 that really talks about hearing now. 00:56:38.03\00:56:39.76 Here it is, 1 John 3:2, 00:56:39.79\00:56:42.40 "Beloved" what is the very next word? 00:56:42.43\00:56:44.43 "Now we are" what" "Children of God." 00:56:44.47\00:56:46.90 When are we children of God? 00:56:46.94\00:56:49.44 When are we children of God? In other words, 00:56:57.51\00:56:58.95 we don't look like we're gonna look yet. 00:56:58.98\00:57:00.35 We're not living like we should live eternally yet. 00:57:00.38\00:57:02.85 "But we know that when He is revealed," what? 00:57:02.88\00:57:06.35 "We shall be like Him, for" what? 00:57:06.39\00:57:08.86 "We shall see Him as He is." 00:57:08.89\00:57:12.13 What do you say? Amen. 00:57:12.16\00:57:13.50 So the Lord is saying, don't get discouraged, Yanick, 00:57:13.53\00:57:15.46 you are not yet where you are gonna be eternally 00:57:15.50\00:57:17.07 but I'm gonna keep going. 00:57:17.10\00:57:19.97 Here's the text. 00:57:20.00\00:57:21.34 Last one I think you know this one 00:57:21.37\00:57:22.94 and we could always cover this again next week. 00:57:22.97\00:57:24.94 What is the answer? Philippians 1:6. 00:57:24.97\00:57:26.81 "Being confident of this very thing, 00:57:26.84\00:57:29.14 that He who has begun a good work in you will" 00:57:29.18\00:57:32.31 do what, friends? 00:57:32.35\00:57:33.82 "Complete it until the day of Jesus Christ." 00:57:33.85\00:57:36.12 So is the Lord gonna complete what He started, yes or no? 00:57:36.15\00:57:38.55 Amen. He's gonna do what He began. 00:57:38.59\00:57:40.66 He's gonna finish what He started. 00:57:40.69\00:57:42.42 And we are like sculptings 00:57:42.46\00:57:44.49 that are still being chiseled away. 00:57:44.53\00:57:46.63 Friends, if you want to know 00:57:46.66\00:57:48.33 what it's like to be alive in God, 00:57:48.36\00:57:50.13 allow Jesus to chisel you away to change your life, 00:57:50.17\00:57:54.30 to fashion and mold you to be more like Jesus Christ. 00:57:54.34\00:57:57.37 So until we see you again focus on Christ 00:57:57.41\00:58:00.31 and you will have a sharper focus. 00:58:00.34\00:58:02.94 God bless you. 00:58:02.98\00:58:04.31
