Wonderful song isn't it. 00:05:26.92\00:05:30.27 You know, I was thinking recently 00:05:30.28\00:05:32.09 about the prosperity gospel. 00:05:32.10\00:05:34.94 There are so many individuals 00:05:34.95\00:05:36.53 that want to prosper and I believe 00:05:36.54\00:05:38.60 that we can add ourselves to that category. 00:05:38.61\00:05:40.51 Can you say amen to that? 00:05:40.52\00:05:42.29 No one wants to fail, everyone wants to be prosperous. 00:05:42.30\00:05:46.29 But the prosperity gospel has done, 00:05:46.30\00:05:49.18 somewhat of that, as I refer to, 00:05:49.19\00:05:50.56 some damage to the actual truth 00:05:50.57\00:05:53.25 about what it means to be redeemed in Christ. 00:05:53.26\00:05:56.06 Now, it's good to have a financial portfolio 00:05:56.07\00:05:59.70 that will hold you over to the future 00:05:59.71\00:06:01.37 and it's good to have good plans 00:06:01.38\00:06:03.53 laid out all the things that you'd like to accomplish, 00:06:03.54\00:06:06.43 but tonight what I want to begin 00:06:06.44\00:06:08.13 by leading you to understand 00:06:08.14\00:06:11.43 is that the prosperity gospel 00:06:11.44\00:06:13.39 cannot really offer us prosperity 00:06:13.40\00:06:16.60 unless we understand what it means 00:06:16.61\00:06:18.47 to be redeemed and how we are justified 00:06:18.48\00:06:22.13 by the life of Christ and also how we still live 00:06:22.14\00:06:26.36 in harmony with the law of God. 00:06:26.37\00:06:28.55 Now, tonight, if you have your Bibles, 00:06:28.56\00:06:30.55 go with me to Psalms Chapter 1. 00:06:30.56\00:06:33.41 Psalms Chapter 1. 00:06:33.42\00:06:35.67 Somebody once pointed out 00:06:35.68\00:06:37.21 that the Psalms had no chapters. 00:06:37.22\00:06:39.32 They're songs and poetry. 00:06:39.33\00:06:42.96 But, just for the purpose of following carefully 00:06:42.97\00:06:47.08 they have divided them as chapters. 00:06:47.09\00:06:49.34 And tonight, what I want you to pay 00:06:49.35\00:06:51.14 particular attention to is the fact 00:06:51.15\00:06:53.47 that this passage is about prosperity. 00:06:53.48\00:06:56.78 But I want you to notice a couple of things today 00:06:56.79\00:06:58.69 because you cannot be prosperous 00:06:58.70\00:07:01.23 if you exclude the law of God 00:07:01.24\00:07:03.95 from your Christian experience. 00:07:03.96\00:07:08.27 You cannot be prosperous if you don't understand 00:07:08.28\00:07:10.58 that you are a person who needs to be redeemed. 00:07:10.59\00:07:13.12 So, follow along as we begin our study, 00:07:13.13\00:07:16.06 this is not one of the texts in our study, 00:07:16.07\00:07:18.28 but this is a vitally important platform 00:07:18.29\00:07:20.00 from which to catapult the topic tonight. 00:07:20.01\00:07:22.97 What's the first word? Together. 00:07:22.98\00:07:25.45 Blessed, and if you've 00:07:25.46\00:07:26.76 the New King James you can read along with me. 00:07:26.77\00:07:28.63 I'll read with some vigor and some encouragement. 00:07:28.64\00:07:32.43 It says, "Blessed is the man who walks 00:07:32.44\00:07:35.57 not in the counsel of the" who? 00:07:35.58\00:07:38.18 "Ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners." 00:07:38.19\00:07:42.07 "Nor sits in the seat of the scornful, 00:07:42.08\00:07:45.78 but his delight is in the," what? 00:07:45.79\00:07:48.34 "The law of the Lord, and in His law 00:07:48.35\00:07:51.82 he meditates," how often? 00:07:51.83\00:07:53.62 "Day and night." 00:07:53.63\00:07:54.60 First point about the prosperity gospel 00:07:54.61\00:07:56.17 you'll see prosperity later on in this passage. 00:07:56.18\00:07:59.40 You cannot really have a prosperity gospel 00:07:59.41\00:08:03.87 if the law of God has been deleted 00:08:03.88\00:08:06.94 from the life you live. 00:08:06.95\00:08:07.94 It's not possible. 00:08:07.95\00:08:10.52 It's not even possible. 00:08:10.53\00:08:13.02 Because without the law of God in your life 00:08:13.03\00:08:14.86 you will not understand that they're perimeters 00:08:14.87\00:08:16.74 of prosperity and then outside 00:08:16.75\00:08:18.79 of those perimeters of prosperity, 00:08:18.80\00:08:20.97 prosperity fails to exist. 00:08:20.98\00:08:23.11 A wonderful example, a parallel to that 00:08:23.12\00:08:24.92 is that you're driving on a highway. 00:08:24.93\00:08:27.16 You can drive 60 miles an hour or 65 miles an hour 00:08:27.17\00:08:30.59 but stay within the white lines, amen. 00:08:30.60\00:08:33.34 Stay within the perimeters. 00:08:33.35\00:08:35.12 Don't cross follow all the guidelines of the highway. 00:08:35.13\00:08:38.96 All the laws of travel. 00:08:38.97\00:08:41.33 Stay within those laws and you'll have prosperity. 00:08:41.34\00:08:44.12 Now somebody may not follow those laws 00:08:44.13\00:08:46.05 but your responsibility as it relates 00:08:46.06\00:08:48.10 to your relationship with Christ 00:08:48.11\00:08:49.81 is stay within the perimeters 00:08:49.82\00:08:51.20 of the relationship with Christ, 00:08:51.21\00:08:52.37 and He does not exclude prosperity 00:08:52.38\00:08:54.93 from the harmony that we can have 00:08:54.94\00:08:58.23 as we live in the confines 00:08:58.24\00:09:00.67 and the guidelines of His law. 00:09:00.68\00:09:02.86 Now, look at the next verse. 00:09:02.87\00:09:04.63 What will happen if we do not sit 00:09:04.64\00:09:08.02 where we should not sit but we live 00:09:08.03\00:09:10.02 within the confines of where we should live. 00:09:10.03\00:09:11.81 Look at verse 3. "He shall be like a," What? 00:09:11.82\00:09:15.54 "Tree planted by the rivers of water, 00:09:15.55\00:09:19.07 that brings forth its fruit in its season, 00:09:19.08\00:09:22.51 whose leaf also shall not wither, 00:09:22.52\00:09:25.12 and whatever he does" say, "shall prosper." 00:09:25.13\00:09:29.70 That's the prosperity gospel. 00:09:29.71\00:09:31.38 If you wanna have prosperity you've to understand 00:09:31.39\00:09:33.20 that God's law cannot be deleted from that gospel. 00:09:33.21\00:09:36.05 And the reason I say that is because 00:09:36.06\00:09:37.31 there are a lot of churches today 00:09:37.32\00:09:38.41 that teach that God's law has been nailed 00:09:38.42\00:09:41.02 to the cross and ever since Jesus died 00:09:41.03\00:09:43.46 there's no commandments any longer. 00:09:43.47\00:09:45.65 Well, that deletes and that negates 00:09:45.66\00:09:47.22 the very fact that we cannot be 00:09:47.23\00:09:49.54 preaching salvation from sin 00:09:49.55\00:09:51.92 unless there's something to define sin. 00:09:51.93\00:09:55.31 Now, look at the contrast between the Christian 00:09:55.32\00:09:57.41 who stays within the confines of God's law by His grace 00:09:57.42\00:10:01.86 as compared to the ungodly 00:10:01.87\00:10:03.83 who do not live in harmony with the law of God. 00:10:03.84\00:10:06.37 Look at the next verses. 00:10:06.38\00:10:08.30 Verse 4 to verse 6. 00:10:08.31\00:10:10.00 It says, "The ungodly are not so, 00:10:10.01\00:10:13.40 but are like the chaff which the wind drives away. 00:10:13.41\00:10:16.91 Therefore the ungodly shall not" what? 00:10:16.92\00:10:20.21 "Stand in the judgment," you know why. 00:10:20.22\00:10:22.23 You'll see in just a moment 00:10:22.24\00:10:23.26 why they can't stay in the judgment. 00:10:23.27\00:10:24.95 "Nor sinners in the congregation 00:10:24.96\00:10:26.68 of the righteous. 00:10:26.69\00:10:28.44 For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, 00:10:28.45\00:10:31.67 but the way of the ungodly shall," what? "Perish." 00:10:31.68\00:10:34.57 Look at the contrast perish or prosperity. 00:10:34.58\00:10:38.98 The ungodly, there are things they can't do. 00:10:38.99\00:10:42.12 They can't sit where the righteous will sit. 00:10:42.13\00:10:44.27 They can't stand in the judgment. 00:10:44.28\00:10:46.21 Now, the reason why they cannot stand 00:10:46.22\00:10:48.27 in the judgment is because 00:10:48.28\00:10:49.37 the standard of the judgment 00:10:49.38\00:10:50.85 will be the commandments of God. 00:10:50.86\00:10:53.34 So, if you say that I don't, 00:10:53.35\00:10:54.68 if you say first of all, 00:10:54.69\00:10:55.66 there is no law of God 00:10:55.67\00:10:57.10 and I'm trying to live in harmony, 00:10:57.11\00:10:58.48 it's like deleting all the yellow lines, 00:10:58.49\00:11:00.77 erasing all the white lines, 00:11:00.78\00:11:02.68 getting rid of all the stop signs 00:11:02.69\00:11:05.14 all the merge signs, 00:11:05.15\00:11:06.83 all the exit signs and trying to travel 00:11:06.84\00:11:09.14 and have a successful journey. 00:11:09.15\00:11:11.44 It's not possible. 00:11:11.45\00:11:12.78 It's impossible as a matter of fact. 00:11:12.79\00:11:15.47 So, tonight we wanna begin by affirming 00:11:15.48\00:11:17.72 as we did in our last lesson 00:11:17.73\00:11:19.49 that God's Ten Commandments still exist, 00:11:19.50\00:11:21.72 what do you say? 00:11:21.73\00:11:22.75 They still exist, but they are not there to save us. 00:11:22.76\00:11:27.85 They are not there to save us. 00:11:27.86\00:11:29.42 Anymore than the speed limit 00:11:29.43\00:11:31.04 can save you if you hit somebody else's car. 00:11:31.05\00:11:34.34 They're there to guide us, 00:11:34.35\00:11:36.11 but they are not there to save us. 00:11:36.12\00:11:37.91 Now look at question number 1, 00:11:37.92\00:11:40.57 question number 1, and by the way 00:11:40.58\00:11:42.57 our topic tonight is "How to be justified?" 00:11:42.58\00:11:45.41 What's the title? "How to be justified?" 00:11:45.42\00:11:48.97 Very vitally important. 00:11:48.98\00:11:50.58 Question number 1 is as follows, 00:11:50.59\00:11:53.34 what must a sinner do to receive mercy? 00:11:53.35\00:11:58.50 What must a sinner do to receive mercy? 00:11:58.51\00:12:01.69 Proverbs 28 verse 13, go there with me. 00:12:01.70\00:12:04.94 Proverbs 28 verse 13. 00:12:04.95\00:12:08.77 When we lived in California, 00:12:08.78\00:12:09.85 that is when my wife and I lived in California, 00:12:09.86\00:12:10.85 we have raised nieces and nephews. 00:12:13.49\00:12:16.51 My niece, my sister's daughter, 00:12:16.52\00:12:18.01 when she lived with us, 00:12:18.02\00:12:20.88 we would give her chores to do. 00:12:20.89\00:12:22.62 You're going to Proverbs 28 verse 13. 00:12:22.63\00:12:24.41 We'd give her chores to do. 00:12:24.42\00:12:26.19 And her chore was to sweep the kitchen. 00:12:26.20\00:12:28.97 One of those responsibilities sweep the kitchen, 00:12:28.98\00:12:32.54 and we were always amaze at how fast 00:12:32.55\00:12:34.08 she swept the kitchen 00:12:34.09\00:12:36.42 and then, we'd say now 00:12:36.43\00:12:38.50 "People are coming over, clean up your room." 00:12:38.51\00:12:41.00 And she said, "Okay. 00:12:41.01\00:12:42.25 Don't open my door until I finish to clean up my room." 00:12:42.26\00:12:44.58 And we were always amazed that how quickly 00:12:44.59\00:12:46.63 she cleans up her room. 00:12:46.64\00:12:48.84 Now, let's read the text 00:12:48.85\00:12:49.84 and I'll tell you the end of the story. 00:12:49.85\00:12:52.77 What must a sinner do to receive mercy? 00:12:52.78\00:12:55.05 Here's what the Bible says, 00:12:55.06\00:12:57.54 Proverbs 28:13, "He who" what? 00:12:57.55\00:13:00.91 "Covers his sins will not prosper, 00:13:00.92\00:13:04.73 but whoever confesses and forsakes them 00:13:04.74\00:13:07.74 will have" What? "Will have mercy." 00:13:07.75\00:13:09.79 Now, let me finish the story. 00:13:09.80\00:13:11.71 The reason why my niece always 00:13:11.72\00:13:14.99 finished sweeping the kitchen so quickly 00:13:15.00\00:13:17.06 is because she swept the dirt under the refrigerator. 00:13:17.07\00:13:21.41 And we did not know, 00:13:21.42\00:13:22.39 we were in a practically brand new house, 00:13:22.40\00:13:25.13 beautiful neighborhood. 00:13:25.14\00:13:27.36 Wonderful, beautiful house. 00:13:27.37\00:13:29.25 Matter of fact even to this very day, 00:13:29.26\00:13:31.01 it still has the largest bathtub 00:13:31.02\00:13:32.48 we have ever had. 00:13:32.49\00:13:34.33 I mean, well, I can lay 00:13:34.34\00:13:35.31 in that bathtub stretch out. 00:13:35.32\00:13:37.32 I'm 6'2" ½ 6'3" on a good day. 00:13:37.33\00:13:39.55 I mean I can lay in that bathtub 00:13:39.56\00:13:40.53 stretch out from end to end. 00:13:40.54\00:13:41.66 We miss it. 00:13:41.67\00:13:43.21 But, we'd always wondered 00:13:43.22\00:13:45.21 how she finished cleaning the kitchen so fast. 00:13:45.22\00:13:48.59 In that beautiful house one day, 00:13:48.60\00:13:49.64 we found out that we had a mouse problem,i 00:13:49.65\00:13:52.86 I mean, there was a field behind our house 00:13:52.87\00:13:54.48 and all of a sudden we started noticing mouse 00:13:54.49\00:13:57.67 dropping everywhere, in the washroom. 00:13:57.68\00:13:59.72 One day, I was sitting in my office 00:13:59.73\00:14:01.04 on the second floor 00:14:01.05\00:14:02.17 and I heard this sound like this, 00:14:02.18\00:14:05.71 And I opened a box in my closet 00:14:05.72\00:14:07.57 and there was a mouse, 00:14:07.58\00:14:09.66 a mother mouse making a nest for her baby, 00:14:09.67\00:14:13.71 she had three baby mice in a box 00:14:13.72\00:14:15.86 of my business closet. 00:14:15.87\00:14:18.63 Now, how do you kill three baby mice, 00:14:18.64\00:14:20.94 I mean, really honestly. 00:14:20.95\00:14:23.04 They're cute but they shouldn't be in the house. 00:14:23.05\00:14:24.83 Amen, somebody. Amen. 00:14:24.84\00:14:26.40 And so, I'm thinking, oh! 00:14:26.41\00:14:28.09 And so where else are they, 00:14:28.10\00:14:29.18 all of a sudden my neighbor next door, 00:14:29.19\00:14:31.64 I heard him out in the backyard with a BB gun. 00:14:31.65\00:14:34.37 And he was just, pekhu pekhu pekhu-- 00:14:34.38\00:14:37.50 and I'm thinking, what's going on. 00:14:37.51\00:14:38.99 So, I went outside and I forget 00:14:39.00\00:14:40.17 that Jeff has an-- I said, "What you're doing?" 00:14:40.18\00:14:42.41 He said, "Are you having a mouse problem, 00:14:42.42\00:14:43.82 we're having a mouse problem." 00:14:43.83\00:14:45.59 And I came to find out 00:14:45.60\00:14:47.04 there were holes all through the house. 00:14:47.05\00:14:49.62 And my niece didn't help much so, 00:14:49.63\00:14:51.45 how this fits into that story 00:14:51.46\00:14:53.29 is one of the mice ran behind the refrigerator. 00:14:53.30\00:14:57.39 So, what do you do to get rid of 00:14:57.40\00:14:58.37 a mouse behind a refrigerator? 00:14:58.38\00:14:59.57 You do what? 00:14:59.58\00:15:00.70 Pull the refrigerator, then we discovered that 00:15:00.71\00:15:03.38 the reason why my niece appeared to 00:15:03.39\00:15:05.13 be prosperous is she kept covering up 00:15:05.14\00:15:08.02 the garbage with the refrigerator. 00:15:08.03\00:15:10.51 And when we moved that refrigerator, 00:15:10.52\00:15:11.84 it seemed like a month and a half of dust. 00:15:11.85\00:15:14.60 And just rice grains and green peas, 00:15:14.61\00:15:18.03 and anything else that's on the kitchen floor. 00:15:18.04\00:15:20.41 What the Lord is in essence saying tonight is, 00:15:20.42\00:15:21.82 we cannot sweep our sins under the refrigerator, 00:15:21.83\00:15:24.65 because the Lord knows and understands 00:15:24.66\00:15:26.72 every facet every aspect of our homes, amen. 00:15:26.73\00:15:30.95 So, the Bible makes it very very clear. 00:15:30.96\00:15:32.70 You cannot prosper unless your sins are what? 00:15:32.71\00:15:33.70 What two things are we told in those verses? 00:15:36.84\00:15:40.88 Confess and, what else? Forsake. 00:15:40.89\00:15:43.17 So, after that we said to our niece, 00:15:43.18\00:15:45.45 now from now on, where we're gonna be looking? 00:15:45.46\00:15:48.38 Under the refrigerator. 00:15:48.39\00:15:50.00 But, the story has another ending. 00:15:50.01\00:15:52.14 She also cleaned her room up very, very fast. 00:15:52.15\00:15:54.96 So, one day my wife went in to the room 00:15:54.97\00:15:56.69 and she said and then another niece 00:15:56.70\00:15:58.66 came to live with us. 00:15:58.67\00:15:59.64 How did you finish cleaning this room so fast? 00:15:59.65\00:16:02.08 When my wife opened the closet, 00:16:02.09\00:16:03.66 and almost got covered in an avalanche. 00:16:03.67\00:16:06.67 Everything just fell out of the closet. 00:16:06.68\00:16:09.58 And they both looked at her like to say, 00:16:09.59\00:16:12.28 "Why did you open the closet? 00:16:12.29\00:16:13.50 It was clean until you opened the closet." 00:16:13.51\00:16:15.44 No, no. It was not clean. 00:16:15.45\00:16:18.23 But the opening of the closet 00:16:18.24\00:16:19.49 revealed how dirty it really was. 00:16:19.50\00:16:21.88 So, when the Lord looks inside of our lives 00:16:21.89\00:16:23.91 we may clean it up some ways 00:16:23.92\00:16:26.11 and hide from human eyes 00:16:26.12\00:16:27.50 those things that really exist, 00:16:27.51\00:16:29.51 but the only way that we can have mercy 00:16:29.52\00:16:31.31 is if we confess and do what else? 00:16:31.32\00:16:33.72 Forsake, and the wonderful story 00:16:33.73\00:16:35.34 about this is, God is not a God who's not merciful. 00:16:35.35\00:16:39.40 I mean, He wants to give us mercy, 00:16:39.41\00:16:41.55 but He does not extend mercy to those 00:16:41.56\00:16:43.60 who don't first confess and forsake. 00:16:43.61\00:16:47.02 I mean, would you give your keys 00:16:47.03\00:16:48.40 to a wayward child that wants to drive your car? 00:16:48.41\00:16:52.31 They're on the way out of the house 00:16:52.32\00:16:53.95 and they have a bag pack and a bottle of whiskey 00:16:53.96\00:16:55.50 sticking out and they got two cigarettes 00:16:55.51\00:16:57.38 in the mouth and say, "Mom, 00:16:57.39\00:16:58.55 I'm gonna hang out tonight. 00:16:58.56\00:16:59.86 I need the car." 00:16:59.87\00:17:01.83 Would you give that child your car? 00:17:01.84\00:17:04.06 Absolutely-- they say okay. 00:17:04.07\00:17:05.19 Now, I am not giving him my car keys. Okay. 00:17:05.20\00:17:08.56 I'm sorry. Okay, now give me the car keys. 00:17:08.57\00:17:11.22 Is that really a confession? 00:17:11.23\00:17:13.33 Because the Bible says confess. 00:17:13.34\00:17:14.57 And do what else? Forsake. 00:17:14.58\00:17:16.32 Don't just tell the Lord our issues. 00:17:16.33\00:17:18.66 Don't just say, here's my problem. 00:17:18.67\00:17:20.65 But the Lord says, okay, what you're gonna do about it? 00:17:20.66\00:17:23.74 Confess it and forsake it. 00:17:23.75\00:17:25.84 You don't give a person who's addicted to something 00:17:25.85\00:17:30.35 more fuel to keep that addiction going. 00:17:30.36\00:17:33.01 So, we must confess and forsake. 00:17:33.02\00:17:34.37 Those are the answers you'd put for number 1. 00:17:34.38\00:17:36.61 And let's go look at question number 2 now. 00:17:36.62\00:17:40.29 Confess and forsake 00:17:40.30\00:17:41.27 is what the sinner must do to receive mercy. 00:17:41.28\00:17:43.50 And by the way, Dan. Where's Dan? 00:17:43.51\00:17:45.73 Dan, Last week, I remembered Dan said, 00:17:45.74\00:17:47.25 "Hey, but God is a merciful God." 00:17:47.26\00:17:48.86 Hey, Dan, this lesson if I'd give another title to it, 00:17:48.87\00:17:51.32 "it's God's mercy." Can you say amen, Dan? Amen. 00:17:51.33\00:17:53.95 God is a merciful God. 00:17:53.96\00:17:56.33 He is a God that's full of mercy. 00:17:56.34\00:17:58.26 So often, you know, 00:17:58.27\00:17:59.24 we say the Old Testament God is a mean God, 00:17:59.25\00:18:01.59 the New Testament God is a loving God. 00:18:01.60\00:18:03.90 But, I wanna remind you in the New Testament 00:18:03.91\00:18:05.77 you find the Seven Last Plagues. 00:18:05.78\00:18:10.58 That's gonna be the worst scourge 00:18:10.59\00:18:14.05 kneaded out by God of Justice. 00:18:14.06\00:18:16.11 Question number 2, here it is. 00:18:16.12\00:18:17.85 What did David admit when he asked God 00:18:17.86\00:18:21.52 to extend mercy to him? 00:18:21.53\00:18:23.35 What did David admit? 00:18:23.36\00:18:24.65 This is really important. 00:18:24.66\00:18:25.92 Psalms 41 verse 4, is where you're turning. 00:18:25.93\00:18:28.19 Psalms 41 verse 4. All right. 00:18:28.20\00:18:32.77 Notice what he admitted. 00:18:32.78\00:18:33.78 This is really important. 00:18:33.79\00:18:36.31 Psalms 41 verse 4, reads as follows, 00:18:36.32\00:18:39.10 David, I said, "Lord, be merciful to me, 00:18:39.11\00:18:44.76 Heal my soul" 00:18:44.77\00:18:46.62 Let's read the rest together. 00:18:46.63\00:18:47.99 "For I have sinned," where? "Against You." 00:18:48.00\00:18:51.96 Now, a lot of us don't understand this. 00:18:51.97\00:18:53.49 The reason why David said he'd sinned against God 00:18:53.50\00:18:55.87 is because the law he broke 00:18:55.88\00:18:57.80 belongs to the government of God. 00:18:57.81\00:19:02.78 So, whenever we transgress, 00:19:02.79\00:19:04.29 whenever we live in transgression 00:19:04.30\00:19:05.52 we or live in sin, 00:19:05.53\00:19:06.69 we may injure somebody by our sin 00:19:06.70\00:19:08.71 or take something from someone 00:19:08.72\00:19:10.71 because of our sin or there may be residual, 00:19:10.72\00:19:14.05 residual, not benefits but residual impact 00:19:14.06\00:19:20.06 to someone else's life 00:19:20.07\00:19:21.14 because of something we've done wrong. 00:19:21.15\00:19:22.77 But the reality of it is, 00:19:22.78\00:19:24.00 all sin is a transgression of the law 00:19:24.01\00:19:27.36 that is connected to the government of God. 00:19:27.37\00:19:29.45 And David realized, in order to be saved 00:19:29.46\00:19:32.06 or in order to have a clean. 00:19:32.07\00:19:34.17 What's the word? Confession. 00:19:34.18\00:19:36.53 He can say, "I'm sorry, 00:19:36.54\00:19:37.96 but I didn't do anything to You." 00:19:37.97\00:19:40.97 He violated the law of God, 00:19:40.98\00:19:42.80 so he said, "For I have sinned against You." 00:19:42.81\00:19:47.97 So, here's why this is so important. 00:19:47.98\00:19:51.60 The Lord is the one who's gone to prepare 00:19:51.61\00:19:54.21 a home for everyone of us. 00:19:54.22\00:19:55.76 He's gone to prepare a home for everyone of us. 00:19:55.77\00:19:58.15 And by the way I don't want anybody 00:19:58.16\00:19:59.91 getting into heaven that's still having 00:19:59.92\00:20:01.63 an issue with sin. 00:20:01.64\00:20:03.72 Come on, talk to me. 00:20:03.73\00:20:05.46 What about you? 00:20:05.47\00:20:07.30 I don't want anybody who still has issues 00:20:07.31\00:20:08.97 in any category of sin 00:20:08.98\00:20:10.65 to be living next-door to me in heaven. 00:20:10.66\00:20:13.33 As a matter of fact, the Lord's made a promise. 00:20:13.34\00:20:14.65 He said, "Nothing will enter in that defiles." 00:20:14.66\00:20:17.46 Amen to that. 00:20:17.47\00:20:19.25 And so, in order for us to get ready 00:20:19.26\00:20:20.71 for that perfect environment 00:20:20.72\00:20:22.58 we have to understand that when we get 00:20:22.59\00:20:24.13 to that perfect environment 00:20:24.14\00:20:25.32 God is not going to abrogate 00:20:25.33\00:20:27.26 nor nullify nor release any of us 00:20:27.27\00:20:30.22 who are going to be in His government 00:20:30.23\00:20:32.27 from living there in harmony with His law. 00:20:32.28\00:20:34.64 The reason why it's going to be easy 00:20:34.65\00:20:36.07 to live in harmony with His law 00:20:36.08\00:20:37.40 is because the character of Jesus 00:20:37.41\00:20:39.10 will be perfectly reproduced in us. 00:20:39.11\00:20:41.50 And Jesus will be working out His will in us, 00:20:41.51\00:20:44.78 preparing us for that moment, 00:20:44.79\00:20:46.25 He's doing that everyday, 00:20:46.26\00:20:48.27 but when the time comes for us to be sealed. 00:20:48.28\00:20:51.01 Who remembers Revelation 22 verse 12? 00:20:51.02\00:20:53.80 There's some contrast. Don't turn. 00:20:53.81\00:20:55.15 Let me see if you remember. 00:20:55.16\00:20:56.42 I'll begin and I guess you could follow me. 00:20:56.43\00:20:58.40 "He that is unjust," what? 00:20:58.41\00:21:01.13 "Let him be unjust still, he that is filthy, 00:21:01.14\00:21:05.25 let him be filthy still, he that is holy, 00:21:05.26\00:21:07.80 let him be," what? 00:21:07.81\00:21:08.78 "Holy still, He that is righteous, 00:21:08.79\00:21:10.06 let him be," what? 00:21:10.07\00:21:11.04 "Righteous still," 00:21:11.05\00:21:12.02 So, we're gonna live in a holy 00:21:12.03\00:21:13.08 and righteous environment and the unrighteous 00:21:13.09\00:21:16.04 and the filthy are not going to be there. 00:21:16.05\00:21:19.02 But it's about God's government 00:21:19.03\00:21:20.55 and so here's the answer to number 2. 00:21:20.56\00:21:23.16 What did David admit when he asked God 00:21:23.17\00:21:25.15 to extend mercy to him? 00:21:25.16\00:21:26.94 He said, I've sinned against God. 00:21:26.95\00:21:30.73 Remember Joseph? 00:21:30.74\00:21:32.95 When Potiphar's wife came after him. 00:21:32.96\00:21:34.84 He said, "How can I do this 00:21:34.85\00:21:36.19 great wickedness and sin against" who? 00:21:36.20\00:21:38.51 Sin against God. 00:21:38.52\00:21:39.88 Now, it really would have been 00:21:39.89\00:21:40.99 a sin against his own body. 00:21:41.00\00:21:43.80 It would've been sin against Potiphar 00:21:43.81\00:21:45.79 and a sin with Potiphar's wife, 00:21:45.80\00:21:47.87 but he acknowledged that every transgression 00:21:47.88\00:21:50.31 links us ultimately to the law of God, 00:21:50.32\00:21:54.13 to the government of God. 00:21:54.14\00:21:55.50 "How can I do this great wickedness," 00:21:55.51\00:21:58.24 Joseph said, "and sin against God." 00:21:58.25\00:22:02.28 We're gonna get some mercy here tonight. 00:22:02.29\00:22:03.89 Have mercy. Question number 3. 00:22:03.90\00:22:07.48 Question number 3. Here it is. 00:22:07.49\00:22:11.02 "How does the Bible describe the condition 00:22:11.03\00:22:14.26 of one who receives mercy?" 00:22:14.27\00:22:17.28 I like this one. I like them all. 00:22:17.29\00:22:20.37 That's my problem. I like them all. 00:22:20.38\00:22:22.54 I like anything from the Bible. 00:22:22.55\00:22:23.77 What about you? 00:22:23.78\00:22:28.45 Okay. Joel Chapter 2 verse 13. 00:22:28.46\00:22:33.66 How does the Bible describe the condition 00:22:33.67\00:22:35.60 of one who receives mercy? 00:22:35.61\00:22:38.57 This is a text that has been often, 00:22:38.58\00:22:41.16 that people have often said it wrong. 00:22:41.17\00:22:43.11 Instead of saying rend they said, "Rend", 00:22:43.12\00:22:45.26 you know, tear, but look at what the Lord talks about, 00:22:45.27\00:22:47.71 there's a contrast here. 00:22:47.72\00:22:49.44 And let's read this together. 00:22:49.45\00:22:50.47 Joel 2:13 we just follows. 00:22:50.48\00:22:52.69 He said, "So rend your" what? 00:22:52.70\00:22:56.06 "Heart, and not your garments," 00:22:56.07\00:22:58.74 what's the next word? 00:22:58.75\00:23:00.12 "Return to the Lord your God, for He is" what? 00:23:00.13\00:23:03.98 "Gracious and merciful, slow to" do what? 00:23:03.99\00:23:09.00 "Anger, and of great kindness, 00:23:09.01\00:23:12.23 and He relents from doing harm." 00:23:12.24\00:23:16.53 Wow, How does the Bible describe 00:23:16.54\00:23:19.42 the condition of one who receives mercy? 00:23:19.43\00:23:22.15 What does He do? He rends His heart. 00:23:22.16\00:23:25.32 Let me break that down for you. 00:23:25.33\00:23:28.14 You know, the Bible, thank you, Helen. 00:23:28.15\00:23:30.23 He's sorrowful. 00:23:30.24\00:23:31.73 When a person examines himself, 00:23:31.74\00:23:34.20 by the way let me make it very very clear. 00:23:34.21\00:23:36.34 Everyone of us knows when we do something wrong, 00:23:36.35\00:23:38.36 ain't that right. 00:23:38.37\00:23:39.98 And unless you have a stone heart, 00:23:39.99\00:23:46.41 unless your conscious has been deaden 00:23:46.42\00:23:48.41 by repetitive transgression there should be 00:23:48.42\00:23:51.11 some feeling of guilt in your heart 00:23:51.12\00:23:53.70 when you do something wrong. 00:23:53.71\00:23:54.89 Have you ever felt that before? 00:23:54.90\00:23:56.89 I mean, you wronged somebody 00:23:56.90\00:23:57.94 you do somethng, and after you do it, 00:23:57.95\00:23:59.59 you, and that's why the polygraph test 00:23:59.60\00:24:04.38 is so successful, because the heart responds 00:24:04.39\00:24:08.61 when the body gives out signals 00:24:08.62\00:24:10.79 that what it has done is wrong. 00:24:10.80\00:24:13.44 Frustration, quick impulse, you know, 00:24:13.45\00:24:17.03 how ever that happens I don't even know, 00:24:17.04\00:24:19.13 but the body has responses to iniquity, 00:24:19.14\00:24:21.55 to transgression to sin. 00:24:21.56\00:24:23.55 And so, one of the things 00:24:23.56\00:24:24.53 that the Lord is saying when you think about this, 00:24:24.54\00:24:26.38 this compare this is, 00:24:26.39\00:24:27.58 "Rend your heart not your garments." 00:24:27.59\00:24:29.28 And reason why in the days of old 00:24:29.29\00:24:31.57 you've heard of sackcloth and ashes. 00:24:31.58\00:24:34.53 Well, when people transgress 00:24:34.54\00:24:36.06 many of them express their transgressions 00:24:36.07\00:24:38.19 by tearing their garments. 00:24:38.20\00:24:40.17 Remember, in the judgment hall 00:24:40.18\00:24:43.14 when Jesus stood before the high priest 00:24:43.15\00:24:45.08 and the Sanhedrins and those who were prosecuting Him. 00:24:45.09\00:24:50.61 One of the high priests tore his garment, 00:24:50.62\00:24:53.76 but what the Lord would have preferred 00:24:53.77\00:24:57.19 is that he tore his heart, 00:24:57.20\00:25:00.32 because the tearing of His garment 00:25:00.33\00:25:01.71 did not release him from his guilt. 00:25:01.72\00:25:03.64 The Lord is saying, okay, 00:25:03.65\00:25:04.64 tearing of your garment is fine. 00:25:04.65\00:25:05.67 I see that you're upset, 00:25:05.68\00:25:07.17 but what I want you to do 00:25:07.18\00:25:08.48 is examine your heart open your heart 00:25:08.49\00:25:12.63 change the condition of your heart. 00:25:12.64\00:25:14.61 And so, and sometimes in anger 00:25:14.62\00:25:16.68 we've taken things and just tore it up. 00:25:16.69\00:25:18.44 Have you ever done that before. 00:25:18.45\00:25:19.44 Come on, have you ever done that before? 00:25:19.45\00:25:21.49 You get it, and we go, 00:25:21.50\00:25:23.38 or you write some thing and you just tear it up 00:25:23.39\00:25:25.03 and you shred it up. 00:25:25.04\00:25:26.65 The Lord wants us to examine our hearts. 00:25:26.66\00:25:28.53 But I want you to look at the text. 00:25:28.54\00:25:29.70 He says, "When you examine your heart," 00:25:29.71\00:25:31.32 I'll read it again. 00:25:31.33\00:25:32.35 "Rend your heart not your garment." 00:25:32.36\00:25:34.07 The next word is, "Return to the Lord your God 00:25:34.08\00:25:37.06 for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger." 00:25:37.07\00:25:40.30 I like that, because a lot of times 00:25:40.31\00:25:42.82 God is portrayed as this guy 00:25:42.83\00:25:45.28 who has a searchlight like my little pointer here. 00:25:45.29\00:25:49.80 And he's looking around the room 00:25:49.81\00:25:51.51 like a heat seeker, ah, got you! 00:25:51.52\00:25:54.85 He knows what you do 00:25:54.86\00:25:56.85 but God is slow to get angry. 00:25:56.86\00:26:00.72 In the courts of justice on television they say, 00:26:05.73\00:26:10.51 "Don't rush to judgment, don't rush to judgment." 00:26:10.52\00:26:16.22 In other words, God allows the process 00:26:16.23\00:26:18.29 to carry itself through, 00:26:18.30\00:26:20.05 but He does not immediately say, 00:26:20.06\00:26:23.19 "Hanna, what did you do?" 00:26:23.20\00:26:26.63 He's slow to anger. 00:26:26.64\00:26:28.08 Aren't you, amen, Henna? 00:26:28.09\00:26:30.15 He's slow to anger. 00:26:30.16\00:26:32.02 He looks at it because, you know, 00:26:32.03\00:26:33.22 sin really before it injures God 00:26:33.23\00:26:35.51 it violates His law, 00:26:35.52\00:26:38.00 it's in contrast and in controversy 00:26:38.01\00:26:41.41 with His character. 00:26:41.42\00:26:42.47 But He knows the reason 00:26:42.48\00:26:43.45 why He's slow to anger 00:26:43.46\00:26:44.43 because He knows beyond that 00:26:44.44\00:26:46.52 your transgression has done you 00:26:46.53\00:26:48.21 more harm than Him. 00:26:48.22\00:26:50.99 So, He's slow to anger, 00:26:51.00\00:26:52.59 but on the other side of that 00:26:52.60\00:26:53.57 He's merciful and He's gracious, 00:26:53.58\00:26:56.04 He's kind. 00:26:56.05\00:26:57.45 And one of the part of this passage 00:26:57.46\00:26:58.76 I don't wanna run pass, it says, 00:26:58.77\00:27:02.03 "He relents from doing harm." 00:27:02.04\00:27:05.78 When we repent He relents. 00:27:05.79\00:27:09.60 Write that down. 00:27:09.61\00:27:11.35 When we repent, when we repent He relents. 00:27:11.36\00:27:18.31 In other words, when we change 00:27:18.32\00:27:19.69 our course He changes his course. 00:27:19.70\00:27:23.14 You cannot stand up in the courtroom 00:27:23.15\00:27:24.58 and I'd been so, you know the news. 00:27:24.59\00:27:28.75 I watch CNN and I watch ABC, NBC, Fox. 00:27:28.76\00:27:31.90 I'm not a news junkie. 00:27:31.91\00:27:33.49 I just like to be aware 00:27:33.50\00:27:34.47 of what's happening in the world. 00:27:34.48\00:27:36.04 And so, sometimes I'm at home, 00:27:36.05\00:27:37.31 working on something 00:27:37.32\00:27:38.29 and I just have the news going. 00:27:38.31\00:27:39.56 And then, you know, there's these stories 00:27:39.57\00:27:41.13 that's just really, you know, hurt you to the core. 00:27:41.14\00:27:44.59 And there's so much violence in the world today. 00:27:44.60\00:27:47.86 These senseless murders that were committed 00:27:47.87\00:27:49.42 a few weeks ago, 00:27:49.43\00:27:50.40 I believe this young boy went to school 00:27:50.41\00:27:51.78 for whatever reason and shot and killed 00:27:51.79\00:27:54.55 three fellow classmates. 00:27:54.56\00:27:58.22 How do you, how do you, 00:27:58.23\00:28:00.66 I mean, what do you do 00:28:00.67\00:28:01.70 with a young man like that, 00:28:01.71\00:28:03.44 let's say because he is so close 00:28:03.45\00:28:04.59 to 18 he'll be maybe prosecuted as an adult. 00:28:04.60\00:28:07.49 Now the parents are terribly angry, 00:28:07.50\00:28:09.10 but you look at this little boy 00:28:09.11\00:28:11.77 and you think, Lord, have mercy, I mean. 00:28:11.78\00:28:14.87 I've lost my son 00:28:14.88\00:28:16.04 but somebody's about to lose their son. 00:28:16.05\00:28:19.09 And I sat there and when we thought about this, 00:28:19.10\00:28:21.41 tears came to my eyes, 00:28:21.42\00:28:22.39 I said, "This is so tragic." 00:28:22.40\00:28:24.01 Because the law was at the click of a moment, 00:28:24.02\00:28:28.53 a single decision taken three people's lives and then, 00:28:28.54\00:28:33.99 after he came to realization, you know, 00:28:34.00\00:28:35.59 all he could say in court was, I'm sorry. 00:28:35.60\00:28:37.84 That's what he said, stood before the Judge, 00:28:37.85\00:28:39.70 "What do you have to say for yourself?" 00:28:39.71\00:28:40.81 "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to do it. I'm sorry." 00:28:40.82\00:28:44.44 When you think about how God looks 00:28:44.45\00:28:45.63 at that young man and God says, 00:28:45.64\00:28:47.37 "Oh, if I can get to his heart." 00:28:47.38\00:28:50.33 When you look at those situations 00:28:50.34\00:28:51.55 although just as it does have its place, 00:28:51.56\00:28:56.02 God looks at that young man and says, 00:28:56.03\00:28:57.76 "There's still room for him to be forgiven." 00:28:57.77\00:29:01.46 Can you all say amen to that? Amen. 00:29:01.47\00:29:03.13 Because sometimes you looked at crimes 00:29:03.14\00:29:04.53 that are committed and we think 00:29:04.54\00:29:05.96 if I were the judge, 00:29:05.97\00:29:06.94 I'd throw the book at him. 00:29:06.95\00:29:09.73 But God says, "I'm slow to anger." 00:29:09.74\00:29:11.57 Because right now, one of the worse things 00:29:11.58\00:29:14.18 that young man is going through 00:29:14.19\00:29:15.75 is his own guilt, his own punishment. 00:29:15.76\00:29:16.75 If he gets life in prison 00:29:18.62\00:29:19.76 he has to live the rest of his life 00:29:19.77\00:29:21.69 thinking about the three young people 00:29:21.70\00:29:23.11 whose lives were senselessly snatched away 00:29:23.12\00:29:26.44 by just a single act in a very quick moment 00:29:26.45\00:29:29.23 of his life which takes me to question number 4, 00:29:29.24\00:29:32.84 which takes me to question number4. 00:29:32.85\00:29:38.79 The Bible. Here's the question. 00:29:38.80\00:29:40.23 "Before we ask for mercy, 00:29:40.24\00:29:43.16 what very important step must we take?" 00:29:43.17\00:29:46.35 This is powerful. 00:29:46.36\00:29:48.95 This is, you know, 00:29:48.96\00:29:49.93 by the way this is a non-denominational topic. 00:29:49.94\00:29:52.56 This is a topic that every church 00:29:52.57\00:29:54.29 should examine intently 00:29:54.30\00:29:56.17 because it's about our salvation. 00:29:56.18\00:29:57.35 What-- "Before we ask for mercy 00:29:57.36\00:29:59.96 what very important step must we take?" 00:29:59.97\00:30:04.01 Psalms Chapter 32 and verse 5. 00:30:04.02\00:30:06.40 Look at what David did. 00:30:06.41\00:30:07.99 Psalms 32 and verse 5, this is beautiful. 00:30:08.00\00:30:11.42 David said, "I acknowledge my sin to You, 00:30:11.43\00:30:15.71 and my iniquity I have not," What? 00:30:15.72\00:30:18.48 "Hidden, I said, "I will confess 00:30:18.49\00:30:21.42 my transgressions to," who? 00:30:21.43\00:30:23.77 "To the Lord," and he said, 00:30:23.78\00:30:26.51 "And You forgave the iniquity of my sin" 00:30:26.52\00:30:30.86 isn't that powerful. 00:30:30.87\00:30:32.08 So, what step must we take? 00:30:32.09\00:30:34.46 And you've already read at Psalms 32. 00:30:34.47\00:30:37.63 But I want you to notice the beginning of that. 00:30:37.64\00:30:39.72 What must we do? 00:30:39.73\00:30:40.88 What very important step must we do 00:30:40.89\00:30:43.12 before we ask for mercy? 00:30:43.13\00:30:45.46 We must do what? Say it again. Acknowledge. 00:30:45.47\00:30:49.51 He said, "I acknowledge my sin to You." 00:30:49.52\00:30:54.10 You know what bothers me more than anything else, 00:30:54.11\00:30:58.31 is when they have a videotape of a crime 00:30:58.32\00:31:00.34 and they use a word like this, 00:31:00.35\00:31:02.00 "The alleged crime." You remember that. 00:31:02.01\00:31:04.73 You've ever hear that. 00:31:04.74\00:31:05.73 You know the alleged shooting 00:31:05.74\00:31:06.98 and they got videotapes 00:31:06.99\00:31:08.16 from five different angles of a guy 00:31:08.17\00:31:09.86 with a machine gun blowing people away, 00:31:09.87\00:31:11.46 he gets arrested, the alleged shooting. 00:31:11.47\00:31:13.87 I'm thinking who's in that video. 00:31:13.88\00:31:16.25 The alleged criminal. The alleged crime. 00:31:16.26\00:31:19.58 Alleged is a legal word because, you know, 00:31:19.59\00:31:21.98 in America they say you are innocent 00:31:21.99\00:31:24.48 till proven what? 00:31:24.49\00:31:25.54 Guilty. That depends on the crime. 00:31:25.55\00:31:28.10 Not gonna guarantee you that. 00:31:28.11\00:31:30.56 In certain crimes you are guilty 00:31:30.57\00:31:31.94 till proven innocent. 00:31:31.95\00:31:33.41 But in the government of God 00:31:33.42\00:31:34.64 he's saying if you simply acknowledge 00:31:34.65\00:31:37.35 your sin to me 00:31:37.36\00:31:39.26 because your sin is not hidden. 00:31:39.27\00:31:40.91 Go with me to Hebrews Chapter 4. 00:31:40.92\00:31:42.52 So, one of the things what must we do, 00:31:42.53\00:31:44.84 what step must we take? 00:31:44.85\00:31:46.43 If you wanna write the answer down. 00:31:46.44\00:31:47.50 We must acknowledge our sin. 00:31:47.51\00:31:50.11 You have to acknowledge your sin. 00:31:50.12\00:31:52.12 One of the hardest things to do 00:31:52.13\00:31:54.18 is for a person to acknowledge 00:31:54.19\00:31:55.74 that he or she has done something wrong. 00:31:55.75\00:31:58.79 It's a tough thing to do, to acknowledge it. 00:31:58.80\00:32:01.89 Hebrews Chapter 4. 00:32:01.90\00:32:04.19 I wanna show you a beautiful passage. 00:32:04.20\00:32:06.49 One of the reasons why we have, 00:32:06.50\00:32:08.48 have to acknowledge. 00:32:08.49\00:32:09.75 David also said, "And my iniquity 00:32:09.76\00:32:12.71 I have not hidden." 00:32:12.72\00:32:14.86 Do you know that you can't hide sin from God? 00:32:14.87\00:32:18.34 How many knew that? 00:32:18.35\00:32:20.49 How much does God see? 00:32:20.50\00:32:22.94 What about if the lights are off, 00:32:22.95\00:32:24.11 does He still see? 00:32:24.12\00:32:25.88 What about if you're 15 feet underground, 00:32:25.89\00:32:28.03 does He still see? 00:32:28.04\00:32:29.80 David the Psalmist said, 00:32:29.81\00:32:30.78 "If I go the farthest part of heaven, you're there. 00:32:30.79\00:32:32.96 If I go to the deepest parts of hell, you're there. 00:32:32.97\00:32:34.85 If I go to the depths of the sea, you're there." 00:32:34.86\00:32:37.44 And look at what Hebrews, 00:32:37.45\00:32:38.44 the writer of Hebrews points out. 00:32:38.45\00:32:40.84 Hebrews 4, beginning with verse 13. 00:32:40.85\00:32:44.13 This is not on the, this is not on the syllabus, 00:32:44.14\00:32:47.20 but this is very important passage for us 00:32:47.21\00:32:48.83 to look at in light of the fact that David said, 00:32:48.84\00:32:51.80 "I will confess because I can't hide it from You." 00:32:51.81\00:32:57.17 Can you imagine standing before God, 00:32:57.18\00:32:58.56 He knows you did, you say, 00:32:58.57\00:32:59.54 "I didn't do it." 00:32:59.55\00:33:02.51 If you say you didn't do it 00:33:02.52\00:33:04.50 you can't ask for mercy, 00:33:04.51\00:33:06.64 ibecause you're saying you're innocent. 00:33:06.65\00:33:08.72 Therefore you don't ask for mercy 00:33:08.73\00:33:10.38 if you're innocent, 00:33:10.39\00:33:11.94 you ask for justice if you're innocent, right. 00:33:11.95\00:33:14.88 If I'm innocent of it, the law demands you let me go, 00:33:14.89\00:33:18.58 but David said, "I acknowledge my sin," 00:33:18.59\00:33:21.93 and he said, "I will confess my transgression to the Lord." 00:33:21.94\00:33:25.35 Because, hey, it's not hidden. 00:33:25.36\00:33:27.07 Look at verse 13 so vitally important. 00:33:27.08\00:33:29.39 See whenever you fall into sin, 00:33:29.40\00:33:31.43 don't lie to the Lord, 00:33:31.44\00:33:32.45 because when you lie to the Lord 00:33:32.46\00:33:33.94 you put yourself in the wrong light 00:33:33.95\00:33:35.53 and God cannot allow His mercy 00:33:35.54\00:33:38.27 to be extended to somebody 00:33:38.28\00:33:39.25 who won't admit that they're wrong. 00:33:39.26\00:33:40.99 Verse 13, "And there is no creature 00:33:41.00\00:33:44.01 hidden from His sight, but all things are," what? 00:33:44.02\00:33:48.81 "Naked and open to the eyes of Him 00:33:48.82\00:33:52.34 to whom we must give account." 00:33:52.35\00:33:55.66 But, I didn't stop there because 00:33:55.67\00:33:57.26 although God sees everything 00:33:57.27\00:33:58.80 I want to give you some hope. 00:33:58.81\00:34:01.20 See, you know, like your parents sa y, 00:34:01.21\00:34:03.48 "I saw you." 00:34:03.49\00:34:06.88 You're fearful, but He said but the parents said, 00:34:06.89\00:34:09.29 "I saw you, however, I love you." 00:34:09.30\00:34:12.05 And if you confess 00:34:12.06\00:34:15.24 the punishment is not gonna be 00:34:15.25\00:34:16.40 as bad as it would be if you lie to me. 00:34:16.41\00:34:19.15 You know that's true. 00:34:19.16\00:34:20.13 Do you know that's true? 00:34:20.14\00:34:21.78 God will not punish us 00:34:21.79\00:34:24.57 'cause He said a moment ago 00:34:24.58\00:34:25.61 in the book of Joel, 00:34:25.62\00:34:27.68 not in the book. 00:34:27.69\00:34:28.66 "I will relent. I will relent." 00:34:28.67\00:34:31.46 He says, "If you confess, I will relent." 00:34:31.47\00:34:34.73 In other words, what you could have gotten, 00:34:34.74\00:34:38.21 it's not gonna be that bad. 00:34:38.22\00:34:39.59 Now, how many of you have ever had parents 00:34:39.60\00:34:42.37 that traditionally gave you spanking 00:34:42.38\00:34:45.76 but sometimes would not? 00:34:45.77\00:34:47.51 Come on, confess. 00:34:47.52\00:34:49.37 Good for the soul, maybe hard on the backside. 00:34:49.38\00:34:52.98 You know, if you've a parent like that, 00:34:52.99\00:34:53.96 there are some parents that just, 00:34:53.97\00:34:55.21 I had a grandmother that would, 00:34:55.22\00:34:58.50 we could be, she could be on the phone 00:34:58.51\00:35:00.59 and she'd promise us a spanking 00:35:00.60\00:35:02.13 and it'd be like six hours later 00:35:02.14\00:35:03.57 and she never forgot, 00:35:03.58\00:35:05.81 and you get it. 00:35:05.82\00:35:07.38 But the once who confess "Grandma, I'm sorry. 00:35:07.39\00:35:11.47 I promise I won't do it again." 00:35:11.48\00:35:13.19 She said, "I know you won't do it again." 00:35:13.20\00:35:14.84 I remember living in Long Island. 00:35:14.85\00:35:17.14 She took care of some neighbors. 00:35:17.15\00:35:19.10 She did housecleaning, an old lady from Trinidad. 00:35:19.11\00:35:22.60 She did housecleaning every now and then 00:35:22.61\00:35:23.99 we'd go to the where she worked in Long Island. 00:35:24.00\00:35:26.40 And I remember very, very, 00:35:26.41\00:35:29.25 one one very unforgettable instance. 00:35:29.26\00:35:32.04 She was on the phone talking to somebody 00:35:32.05\00:35:33.97 about some very important business 00:35:33.98\00:35:35.76 and we all just went haywire. 00:35:35.77\00:35:39.09 We went haywire throwing things 00:35:39.10\00:35:40.83 at each other through the kitchen, 00:35:40.84\00:35:42.08 yelling and she's saying, quiet down. 00:35:42.09\00:35:43.85 And we just piped it up even more 00:35:43.86\00:35:46.75 and she said, she leaned the phone, 00:35:46.76\00:35:48.64 when I got off this phone 00:35:48.65\00:35:49.83 every one of you's getting a spanking. 00:35:49.84\00:35:52.40 But when she got off the phone 00:35:52.41\00:35:53.49 she didn't do it 00:35:53.50\00:35:55.44 and few hours passed by, 00:35:55.45\00:35:59.09 we thought, hey, she just said 00:35:59.10\00:36:00.99 she's gonna spank us, 00:36:01.00\00:36:01.97 but it's not gonna happen. 00:36:01.98\00:36:04.15 That night I never forget it. 00:36:04.16\00:36:07.15 I was kneeling down, 00:36:07.16\00:36:09.65 do you know what position you're in 00:36:09.66\00:36:10.63 when you're kneeling down? 00:36:10.64\00:36:11.61 Come on, talk to me. 00:36:11.62\00:36:13.52 I was kneeling down, 00:36:13.53\00:36:16.78 getting ready to say my bedtime prayers. 00:36:16.79\00:36:20.02 I was in the perfect prayer punishment position. 00:36:20.03\00:36:24.89 And at the beginning of my prayer 00:36:24.90\00:36:27.11 I felt the hand of justice. 00:36:27.12\00:36:30.75 Well I don't wanna tell you where she hit, 00:36:30.76\00:36:32.38 but I guess you can figure that out 00:36:32.39\00:36:34.03 and it took a while, 00:36:34.04\00:36:35.58 I thought I had gotten away. 00:36:35.59\00:36:37.34 You see the Lord is gracious 00:36:37.35\00:36:39.17 He's long suffering, 00:36:39.18\00:36:41.43 but you'll find out as we get 00:36:41.44\00:36:42.82 further into the study unless you confess 00:36:42.83\00:36:45.43 God will not extend to you mercy. 00:36:45.44\00:36:47.99 If you think that you've gotten away, 00:36:48.00\00:36:49.41 oh in just a matter of time 00:36:49.42\00:36:50.39 you'll understand that God's justice 00:36:50.40\00:36:52.23 and God's government stands on truth 00:36:52.24\00:36:54.59 and whatever you do there is a payment. 00:36:54.60\00:36:56.17 The wages of sin is what? A spanking. 00:36:56.18\00:36:59.80 That's right, but let's finish, 00:36:59.81\00:37:01.52 because I want to give you some hope. 00:37:01.53\00:37:02.53 Look at verse 14 of Hebrews Chapter 4. 00:37:02.54\00:37:05.16 Although things can be seen by God nothing hidden, 00:37:05.17\00:37:07.94 he goes on verse 14 by saying, 00:37:07.95\00:37:09.96 "Seeing then that we have a," what? 00:37:09.97\00:37:12.93 "A great High Priest who has passed 00:37:12.94\00:37:16.59 through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, 00:37:16.60\00:37:19.78 let us hold fast our" what? 00:37:19.79\00:37:22.34 "Our confession." 00:37:22.35\00:37:23.72 "For we do not have a High Priest 00:37:23.73\00:37:25.10 who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses," 00:37:25.11\00:37:27.51 praise the Lord for that, 00:37:27.52\00:37:29.48 "But was in all points tempted as we are, 00:37:29.49\00:37:32.83 yet without sin." 00:37:32.84\00:37:34.36 But look at the encouragement to the sinner. 00:37:34.37\00:37:36.52 Verse 18, verse 16 is powerful. 00:37:36.53\00:37:40.36 It looked like verse 18 when I took my glasses off, 00:37:40.37\00:37:42.75 but it's verse 16 when I put them back on. 00:37:42.76\00:37:45.43 Look at this, "Let us therefore come," 00:37:45.44\00:37:47.84 say the next word, how? 00:37:47.85\00:37:48.82 Boldly. "Boldly before the throne of" what? 00:37:48.83\00:37:52.28 "Grace, that we may obtain" what then? 00:37:52.29\00:37:55.32 Mercy. "Mercy and find grace to help in" what? 00:37:55.33\00:37:58.83 "Time of need." 00:37:58.84\00:37:59.81 Have you needed grace this week? 00:37:59.82\00:38:01.72 Have you needed mercy? 00:38:01.73\00:38:03.44 The Lord says, when you do wrong, 00:38:03.45\00:38:05.05 let me encourage you, 00:38:05.06\00:38:06.03 when you do something wrong, 00:38:06.04\00:38:07.48 God says, "Come, come boldly." 00:38:07.49\00:38:10.68 In other words, God clears the way 00:38:10.69\00:38:12.11 that you can come unhindered. 00:38:12.12\00:38:13.49 There's something called the running to. 00:38:13.50\00:38:17.86 It'll come to me in a moment but God is in essence, 00:38:17.87\00:38:19.66 He removed all the obstacles so that 00:38:19.67\00:38:21.87 when the times comes for you 00:38:21.88\00:38:23.60 to run to Him for mercy, 00:38:23.61\00:38:25.13 He says, "Come on. Come on, son. 00:38:25.14\00:38:26.43 Come on, daughter. Come boldly." 00:38:26.44\00:38:28.70 He gives you access. 00:38:28.71\00:38:30.17 He doesn't say, 00:38:30.18\00:38:31.57 "What are you coming here for, you sinner?" Amen. 00:38:31.58\00:38:35.20 He says, "Come boldly. Come as you are." 00:38:35.21\00:38:38.44 I've made it very, very clear 00:38:38.45\00:38:41.67 that's how God is. He's our strong tower. 00:38:41.68\00:38:43.83 That's right. He's our strong tower. 00:38:43.84\00:38:45.99 We can run into Him and be saved. 00:38:46.00\00:38:49.10 So, when you sin don't think that you have done 00:38:49.11\00:38:51.83 something that God doesn't know you've done. 00:38:51.84\00:38:54.01 He said, "I know you did it. One particular niece who said okay, 00:45:14.04\00:45:16.20 I think it was my sister's daughter who said, "Okay. 00:45:16.21\00:45:18.32 What I want you to do is write down a list of things 00:45:18.33\00:45:20.32 that we should do. 00:45:20.33\00:45:23.41 You write down the penalties, the things that we should do 00:45:23.42\00:45:26.23 if we catch you doing something you shouldn't do. 00:45:26.24\00:45:28.60 You go ahead and write down your punishment." 00:45:28.61\00:45:31.29 And she had it above her bed head. 00:45:31.30\00:45:33.76 And the funny thing about that is she chose her punishment. 00:45:33.77\00:45:36.27 So, we said now, "when anything happens and we choose 00:45:36.28\00:45:38.76 something from your list, don't get mad at us 00:45:38.77\00:45:40.44 because we chose the punishment, right." 00:45:40.45\00:45:44.85 Now, would I be looking at that list if she was innocent? 00:45:44.86\00:45:47.57 Yes or no? 00:45:47.58\00:45:49.01 Absolutely not. 00:45:49.02\00:45:50.32 So, we are declared. 00:45:50.33\00:45:52.44 We are declared justified and if we were innocent 00:45:52.45\00:45:56.85 we don't need justice. 00:45:56.86\00:45:58.75 As a matter of fact go with me, oh! 00:45:58.76\00:46:01.26 This is a text I want you to see. 00:46:01.27\00:46:02.42 Go with me to John 9. 00:46:02.43\00:46:04.02 John Chapter 9. 00:46:04.03\00:46:05.00 I'm gonna give the other answers. 00:46:05.01\00:46:05.98 Let's finish the next three and we'd to see this. 00:46:05.99\00:46:08.04 So, we're up to number 4. He put it on my eyes. 00:47:13.26\00:47:15.67 He told me to go to the pool and wash. 00:47:15.68\00:47:17.49 When I went I came back seeing." 00:47:17.50\00:47:20.21 "But how did He do it?" "I told you how He did it." 00:47:20.22\00:47:23.86 So, because his story wasn't good enough 00:47:23.87\00:47:25.36 they went to his parents "Is this your son?" "It is." 00:47:25.37\00:47:28.09 "Could you tell us how he was made to see again?" 00:47:28.10\00:47:30.86 They said, "He's of age, go ask him." 00:47:30.87\00:47:32.55 Good answer. See. 00:47:32.56\00:47:34.46 So, they came back to this man over and over and over again, 00:47:34.47\00:47:36.83 so they finally had their chance with Jesus. 00:47:36.84\00:47:39.03 Now, we're gonna work our way to verse 41. 00:47:39.04\00:47:41.45 Now, look at verse 36. 00:47:41.46\00:47:44.17 All right. 00:47:44.18\00:47:47.73 And... Verse 36. 00:47:47.74\00:47:50.36 "Jesus heard that they had cast him out, 00:47:50.37\00:47:52.32 and when He had found him," in verse 35 00:47:52.33\00:47:54.15 "Jesus heard that they had cast him out," 00:47:54.16\00:47:56.01 he was rejoicing he went to the temple rejoicing. 00:47:56.02\00:47:58.11 That's what you should do when Jesus heals you, right. 00:47:58.12\00:48:01.00 I mean John Chapter 9 verse 35. 00:48:01.01\00:48:03.70 John Chapter 9 verse 35, "Jesus heard that they had 00:48:03.71\00:48:06.94 cast him out, and when He had found him, He said to him, 00:48:06.95\00:48:11.51 "Do you believe in the Son of God?" 00:48:11.52\00:48:13.52 He answered and said, "Who is He, Lord, 00:48:13.53\00:48:16.02 that I may believe in Him?" 00:48:16.03\00:48:17.58 And Jesus said to him, "You have both seen Him 00:48:17.59\00:48:21.15 and it is He who is talking with you." 00:48:21.16\00:48:25.02 And in verse 38. 00:48:25.03\00:48:26.42 Then he said, "Lord, I believe!" 00:48:26.43\00:48:28.16 And he did what? 00:48:28.17\00:48:29.49 Worshiped Him. 00:48:29.50\00:48:30.99 And Jesus said, "For judgment I have not, 00:48:31.00\00:48:34.20 for judgment I have come into this world, 00:48:34.21\00:48:36.50 that those who do not see may see, 00:48:36.51\00:48:40.36 and that those who see may be made blind." 00:48:40.37\00:48:43.41 And here's the point. 00:48:43.42\00:48:45.25 Then some of the Pharisees who were with Him 00:48:45.26\00:48:48.80 heard these words, and said to Him. 00:48:48.81\00:48:50.44 They're saying to Jesus now, you gotta get this. 00:48:50.45\00:48:52.71 They are saying to Jesus, "Are we blind also?" 00:48:52.72\00:48:57.99 Get this. 00:48:58.00\00:49:00.43 And Jesus said to them, "If you were blind, 00:49:00.44\00:49:02.46 you would have no sin; but now you say, 'We see.' 00:49:02.47\00:49:06.38 Therefore your sin remains. 00:49:06.39\00:49:07.71 You know what the problem in the story is. 00:49:07.72\00:49:09.70 You know what the issue in the story is? 00:49:09.71\00:49:11.95 They didn't confess their condition. 00:49:11.96\00:49:14.35 They didn't confess their condition. 00:49:14.36\00:49:16.05 Now, what is the condition of the Last Day Church Laodicea? 00:49:16.06\00:49:18.72 What's the condition? 00:49:18.73\00:49:20.71 Wretched, miserable, poor, blind and what else? 00:49:20.72\00:49:24.68 Naked. 00:49:24.69\00:49:25.66 Same thing, and so here we are in the last church 00:49:25.67\00:49:28.58 of Revelation's Seven Churches. 00:49:28.59\00:49:30.49 Unless we confess our condition, 00:49:30.50\00:49:32.43 Jesus can't do a thing for us. 00:49:32.44\00:49:34.64 He says, "Okay. You say you can see, then you're fine." 00:49:34.65\00:49:38.96 Since you say you can see, 00:49:38.97\00:49:40.50 your sins will still hang around. 00:49:40.51\00:49:42.45 But if you say that you are blind like this blind man, 00:49:42.46\00:49:44.80 said, you will know that I am able to restore you, 00:49:44.81\00:49:47.99 not only recover your sight 00:49:48.00\00:49:49.89 but I'm able to redeem you from your sin. 00:49:49.90\00:49:52.18 And they walked away without redemption 00:49:52.19\00:49:53.83 because they said, "We could see. 00:49:53.84\00:49:55.36 We don't need you, Lord. 00:49:55.37\00:49:56.34 We've got it perfectly taken care of." 00:49:56.35\00:49:57.86 And you'll find it over and over in the Bible 00:49:57.87\00:49:59.31 whenever a person says they got it down path, 00:49:59.32\00:50:01.56 Jesus said, "I can't do anything for you." 00:50:01.57\00:50:03.95 I can't do anything for you. 00:50:03.96\00:50:05.20 So, here's my message towards tonight. 00:50:05.21\00:50:06.71 If we walk away from this study and say, 00:50:06.72\00:50:08.40 "Well, this makes sense to me but I'm not really that bad." 00:50:08.41\00:50:14.55 What happens? 00:50:14.56\00:50:15.68 Jesus says, "Because you say you have no sin 00:50:15.69\00:50:17.96 your sin remains. 00:50:17.97\00:50:19.61 Because you say you don't really need me, 00:50:19.62\00:50:22.34 then I can't do anything for you." 00:50:22.35\00:50:24.84 So, the mission of Jesus is thwarted in our lives. 00:50:24.85\00:50:28.49 Because He said, "The Son of Man has come to seek 00:50:28.50\00:50:30.98 and to save that which is" what? 00:50:30.99\00:50:32.51 "That which is lost?" 00:50:32.52\00:50:33.49 Luke what? 00:50:33.50\00:50:34.47 Luke 19:10, a text we taught our niece. 00:50:34.48\00:50:37.65 She remembers to this very day when we speak to her and said, 00:50:37.66\00:50:39.88 "Luke 19:10 means what?" 00:50:39.89\00:50:41.53 and she repeats that. 00:50:41.54\00:50:42.68 Now, let's look at the last two, 00:50:42.69\00:50:44.62 the last two on our sixth part. 00:50:44.63\00:50:47.72 Number 5, Mercy can only be applied to the guilty? 00:50:47.73\00:50:50.73 True or false? 00:50:50.74\00:50:52.18 True. 00:50:52.19\00:50:53.32 Mercy can only be applied to the guilty. 00:50:53.33\00:50:56.04 And therefore number 6, Mercy is applied to those 00:50:56.05\00:50:59.88 who agree with the law? 00:50:59.89\00:51:01.31 True or False? 00:51:01.32\00:51:03.13 True. That's right. They said, Okay, I was speeding. 00:51:03.14\00:51:07.00 As a matter of fact, I heard story of a pastor 00:51:07.01\00:51:10.88 who got stopped by highway patrolman. 00:51:10.89\00:51:12.47 He said, "How fast were you going?" 00:51:12.48\00:51:15.33 He said, "well, when I saw you I was going 86 but I slowed 00:51:15.34\00:51:19.94 down to 80, when I saw you I was going 87 00:51:19.95\00:51:22.36 but I slowed down to 85." 00:51:22.37\00:51:23.92 He said, "I caught you at 85." 00:51:23.93\00:51:26.15 He said, "But I was going two miles faster." 00:51:26.16\00:51:28.57 And the highway patrolman said, 00:51:28.58\00:51:29.79 "but why are you admitting that?" 00:51:29.80\00:51:31.10 He said, "Because you and I are in the same business." 00:51:31.11\00:51:33.67 He said, "It is my job to teach people 00:51:35.59\00:51:37.48 not to violate the law. 00:51:37.49\00:51:38.63 It's your job to uphold the law. 00:51:38.64\00:51:40.78 Now, before you write a ticket, I'm gonna make 00:51:40.79\00:51:43.36 a commitment to do my part and making sure people 00:51:43.37\00:51:46.51 don't violate the law. 00:51:46.52\00:51:47.78 But if they do I'm gonna extend mercy to them." 00:51:47.79\00:51:49.96 "Now, officer, I am guilty but can you extend mercy to me?" 00:51:49.97\00:51:56.89 Well, this worked really well because this person was a, 00:51:56.90\00:52:00.14 I wanna be very vague. 00:52:00.15\00:52:01.16 This person was a visible personality 00:52:01.17\00:52:03.86 and the police officer said, 00:52:03.87\00:52:05.70 "If I gave you a ticket my mother will be upset. 00:52:05.71\00:52:07.74 I've watch you on television every week." 00:52:07.75\00:52:10.21 And so, he extended mercy. 00:52:10.22\00:52:13.15 But not that he was not guilty, 00:52:13.16\00:52:17.63 I am saying that case there was some preferential treatment. 00:52:17.64\00:52:21.02 But he acknowledged that he was speeding 00:52:21.03\00:52:24.08 that was the biggest part. 00:52:24.09\00:52:25.73 If he said to the police officer, "I wasn't speeding." 00:52:25.74\00:52:29.04 You know what he would have said, 00:52:29.05\00:52:30.23 "You know, sir, ashamed of you. 00:52:30.24\00:52:31.98 I watch you -- my mother watches you every week. 00:52:31.99\00:52:34.66 She's gonna be really upset to know that you wouldn't 00:52:34.67\00:52:36.70 even admit that you are wrong." 00:52:36.71\00:52:39.47 But because he came out and confessed, 00:52:39.48\00:52:41.48 isn't that wonderful, amen. 00:52:41.49\00:52:43.10 So, when we come to the Lord and we confess 00:52:43.11\00:52:44.98 that we do need the Lord, our eyes are opened, 00:52:44.99\00:52:48.19 we see our condition and then 00:52:48.20\00:52:50.04 and only then can we receive graciously the mercy of God. 00:52:50.05\00:52:55.79 Look at number 6. 00:52:55.80\00:52:57.94 Now, this is getting into a different phase of a very, 00:52:57.95\00:53:00.34 very vitally important one. 00:53:00.35\00:53:01.87 Number 6. 00:53:01.88\00:53:04.13 Here's the question. 00:53:04.14\00:53:06.98 What did the apostle Paul say when he was 00:53:06.99\00:53:09.63 confronted with his guilt? 00:53:09.64\00:53:11.99 What did he say when he was confronted with his guilt? 00:53:12.00\00:53:15.74 Look at the answer in Romans Chapter 7 and verse 24. 00:53:15.75\00:53:19.79 And I want you to read this one with me, 00:53:19.80\00:53:21.41 it's on the screen. 00:53:21.42\00:53:22.39 Are you ready? Here we go. 00:53:22.40\00:53:23.60 "O wretched man that I am! 00:53:23.61\00:53:26.45 Who will deliver me from this body of" what? 00:53:26.46\00:53:30.67 "Death." 00:53:30.68\00:53:32.02 What was he crying for? He was crying for what? 00:53:32.03\00:53:34.79 He was crying for deliverance. 00:53:34.80\00:53:36.52 Who's going to deliver me? 00:53:36.53\00:53:38.40 So, what did the apostle say 00:53:38.41\00:53:40.31 when he was confronted with his guilt? 00:53:40.32\00:53:41.93 What did he say about himself? 00:53:41.94\00:53:43.25 What condition was he in? 00:53:43.26\00:53:45.05 He was wretched. 00:53:45.06\00:53:47.86 You know the reason why there are so many people 00:53:47.87\00:53:49.49 that are not in wretched conditions in the world, 00:53:49.50\00:53:51.91 that are just living a sinful life, you know why? 00:53:51.92\00:53:54.21 Because they don't admit that they're even sinners. 00:53:54.22\00:53:59.19 That's why people can go from one transgression 00:53:59.20\00:54:01.12 to the next to the next to the next 00:54:01.13\00:54:02.61 over and over and over again 00:54:02.62\00:54:04.01 and don't even admit that they need the Lord. 00:54:04.02\00:54:06.44 You know why, Because they looked 00:54:06.45\00:54:07.42 themselves as good enough. 00:54:07.43\00:54:08.69 I heard people say, "I've a good neighbors." 00:54:08.70\00:54:11.36 And somebody once asked me, 00:54:11.37\00:54:12.61 "Now, my neighbors are not Christians. 00:54:12.62\00:54:15.71 They don't go to church. 00:54:15.72\00:54:17.27 They don't confess Jesus, but they're really nice people. 00:54:17.28\00:54:22.23 Wouldn't they be saved?" 00:54:22.24\00:54:23.80 and I look at people and I say, "I appreciate the fact 00:54:23.81\00:54:26.86 that you have law abiding neighbors. 00:54:26.87\00:54:29.51 But salvation is not by our good. 00:54:29.52\00:54:31.83 Salvation is by Jesus' righteousness." 00:54:31.84\00:54:35.69 Amen. 00:54:35.70\00:54:36.93 So, you may be able to finagle yourself through 00:54:36.94\00:54:39.50 the situations of life, but Jesus didn't come to save 00:54:39.51\00:54:44.16 people that are good by their own works. 00:54:44.17\00:54:46.65 Because if we look at our conditions as Adam 00:54:46.66\00:54:49.11 handed it down to us. 00:54:49.12\00:54:50.71 First Corinthians 15:22 says it this way, 00:54:50.72\00:54:53.87 "As in Adam how many of us die, 00:54:53.88\00:54:56.48 all of us die" so, if you are a son or daughter of Adam 00:54:56.49\00:55:01.06 you need to be delivered from death. 00:55:01.07\00:55:03.77 That's why the next topic we're gonna be covering 00:55:03.78\00:55:05.34 after we finish this one is, how to be delivered. 00:55:05.35\00:55:08.85 Say that with me, how to be delivered. 00:55:08.86\00:55:13.02 We know that justification is available. 00:55:13.03\00:55:15.15 We know to be justified is available. 00:55:15.16\00:55:17.40 But then, how do we get delivered? 00:55:17.41\00:55:20.46 How can God deliver me? 00:55:20.47\00:55:23.62 Because Paul says, "Who's going to do it? 00:55:23.63\00:55:26.09 How am I going to get delivered?" 00:55:26.10\00:55:29.24 So, the answer would be here what did Paul the apostle say 00:55:29.25\00:55:31.78 when he was confronted with his guilt, 00:55:31.79\00:55:34.11 he said he was a wretched man. 00:55:34.12\00:55:36.98 And you know why that's vitally important? 00:55:36.99\00:55:38.56 Unless we see our real condition we'll never know 00:55:38.57\00:55:40.98 that we'd really need a Savior. 00:55:40.99\00:55:43.20 You know, I consider myself 00:55:43.21\00:55:45.11 a person that dresses fairly well. 00:55:45.12\00:55:47.39 And some people dress really well. 00:55:47.40\00:55:49.20 And there are some people that dress really ostentatious. 00:55:49.21\00:55:51.34 Can you imagine me walking up to the Queen of England 00:55:51.35\00:55:53.79 with her perfectly coordinated outfit and say 00:55:53.80\00:55:55.89 you know, what, Queen Elizabeth, you're a sinner, you need Jesus. 00:55:55.90\00:56:00.30 This is a head of a monarchy. 00:56:00.31\00:56:02.85 I would probably tremble in my shoes 00:56:02.86\00:56:04.73 to know what will happen after that statement. 00:56:04.74\00:56:07.17 Am I right? 00:56:07.18\00:56:08.54 I may get instantly arrested, slammed to the ground, 00:56:08.55\00:56:12.47 but I tell you what? 00:56:12.48\00:56:13.45 No matter how good we may look to ourselves, 00:56:13.46\00:56:15.66 everyone of us needs to acknowledge our condition 00:56:15.67\00:56:20.75 if there's any hope of us ever being forgiven 00:56:20.76\00:56:23.69 and admitted into a perfect environment 00:56:23.70\00:56:26.37 such as the Kingdom of God. 00:56:26.38\00:56:27.63 Amen. 00:56:27.64\00:56:28.91 So, Paul looked at that and he says, 00:56:28.92\00:56:30.68 "I wonder if I can be forgiven." 00:56:30.69\00:56:32.72 And the reason I don't wanna go pass this question 00:56:32.73\00:56:34.86 for tonight is something very vitally important. 00:56:34.87\00:56:37.45 Paul looked at his condition. 00:56:37.46\00:56:39.26 And by the way when you read Romans Chapter 7 00:56:39.27\00:56:42.03 this is something that you must acknowledge. 00:56:42.04\00:56:43.58 When you read Romans Chapter 7. 00:56:43.59\00:56:45.61 Romans Chapter 7 is the experience of a man 00:56:45.62\00:56:49.55 after he was converted. 00:56:49.56\00:56:51.87 This is amazing. 00:56:51.88\00:56:53.60 Romans Chapter 7 is the experience 00:56:53.61\00:56:55.73 of a Christian man after his conversion. 00:56:55.74\00:56:59.50 Look at the things he struggled with. 00:56:59.51\00:57:01.18 So when you struggle it is not unusual. 00:57:01.19\00:57:03.68 God knows that Christians struggle. 00:57:03.69\00:57:05.94 Can you say amen to that. 00:57:05.95\00:57:07.63 And the struggle does not begin 00:57:07.64\00:57:09.81 until you admit that you need a Savior 00:57:09.82\00:57:13.17 and then, you know what He does, 00:57:13.18\00:57:14.55 He turns on the light. 00:57:14.56\00:57:17.18 What kind of light is it, somebody remembered?
