Amen. Amen. 00:02:54.30\00:02:57.54 Now we're gonna to do something 00:02:57.54\00:02:58.57 a little differently tonight 00:02:58.57\00:02:59.57 because people have requested that 00:02:59.57\00:03:00.94 and I think it would be a good thing. 00:03:00.94\00:03:02.51 We're gonna begin tonight with a song, 00:03:02.51\00:03:04.35 the words may not appear on your screen, 00:03:04.35\00:03:06.98 but our local audience is gonna sing a song, 00:03:06.98\00:03:09.28 "Seek ye first the kingdom of God 00:03:09.28\00:03:11.95 and His righteousness and all these things 00:03:11.95\00:03:14.66 will be added to you." 00:03:14.66\00:03:15.79 If it's familiar with you, you can sing along with us. 00:03:15.79\00:03:18.09 Let's sing that song together tonight. 00:03:18.09\00:03:20.06 Seek ye first the kingdom of God 00:03:26.94\00:03:34.11 And His righteousness 00:03:34.11\00:03:41.18 And all these things shall be added unto you 00:03:41.18\00:03:46.96 And we say, Hallelu, Hallelujah 00:03:46.96\00:03:54.86 Ask and it shall be given unto you 00:03:54.86\00:04:02.27 Seek and ye shall find 00:04:02.27\00:04:09.41 Knock and the door shall be opened unto you 00:04:09.41\00:04:15.68 We sing, Hallelu, Hallelujah 00:04:15.68\00:04:23.39 Seek ye first the kingdom of God 00:04:23.39\00:04:30.53 And His righteousness 00:04:30.53\00:04:37.64 And all these things shall be added unto you 00:04:37.64\00:04:44.68 Hallelu, Hallelujah 00:04:44.68\00:04:51.75 Hallelu, Hallelujah. 00:04:51.75\00:05:03.57 Ain't that wonderful? Amen. Amen. 00:05:03.57\00:05:05.47 You know that's actually Mathew Chapter 6 and verse 33, 00:05:05.47\00:05:09.40 which in fact says, 00:05:09.40\00:05:10.47 "Seek ye first the kingdom of God 00:05:10.47\00:05:12.71 and His righteousness 00:05:12.71\00:05:15.41 and all these things shall be added unto you." 00:05:15.41\00:05:18.55 And so often people, even sometimes Christians, 00:05:18.55\00:05:21.98 they seek all the things first. 00:05:21.98\00:05:23.92 But the whole focus of our study from week to week 00:05:23.92\00:05:25.92 is to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness 00:05:25.92\00:05:30.06 and whatever you need will be added to you. 00:05:30.06\00:05:33.50 Tonight, we're gonna be talking 00:05:33.50\00:05:34.56 about the topic of justification, 00:05:34.56\00:05:37.97 the power of justification. 00:05:37.97\00:05:41.54 Now for those of you who are following along, 00:05:41.54\00:05:43.54 somebody may ask the question, 00:05:43.54\00:05:45.27 "Hey, but what about question number 24 00:05:45.27\00:05:49.31 in lesson number one? 00:05:49.31\00:05:51.48 What about question 24 in the lesson 00:05:51.48\00:05:54.02 about Victorious Living?" 00:05:54.02\00:05:56.18 And that question I'll just mention it to you, 00:05:56.18\00:05:58.29 if you want to fill that in, the question was, 00:05:58.29\00:06:00.42 how can we define the act of justification? 00:06:00.42\00:06:04.76 How can we define the act of justification? 00:06:04.76\00:06:07.40 And if you have the syllabus, 00:06:07.40\00:06:08.50 you'll notice that the three words or the four words, 00:06:08.50\00:06:11.30 "We are saved by" and then there are two blank spaces. 00:06:11.30\00:06:16.44 "We are saved by" and let me give you the answer, 00:06:16.44\00:06:19.31 we are saved by Christ's work. 00:06:19.31\00:06:24.35 We are saved by Christ's work. Amen. 00:06:24.35\00:06:28.88 Not by our work. 00:06:28.88\00:06:31.12 Because the Bible says, 00:06:31.12\00:06:32.15 "We are saved by grace through faith, 00:06:32.15\00:06:34.16 and that not of ourselves is the gift of God, 00:06:34.16\00:06:36.59 not of works lest anyone should boast." 00:06:36.59\00:06:39.43 We are saved by Christ's work. 00:06:39.43\00:06:43.40 And tonight, we're gonna be talking about 00:06:43.40\00:06:45.43 what that work is and how that work can be applied 00:06:45.43\00:06:49.67 to our lives in a wonderful way? 00:06:49.67\00:06:51.77 So if you have lesson number two, which is entitled, 00:06:51.77\00:06:54.58 "The Process of Justification," 00:06:54.58\00:06:56.54 and you should have that in your hand. 00:06:56.54\00:06:59.45 We'll follow along tonight. 00:06:59.45\00:07:01.18 How many of you have heard the phrase, 00:07:01.18\00:07:03.25 a fight to the death? 00:07:03.25\00:07:04.72 Have you heard that before? 00:07:04.72\00:07:05.99 You know when you hear that phrase, 00:07:05.99\00:07:07.06 sometimes you think about two gladiators 00:07:07.06\00:07:09.32 or two sword fighters or two people in a ring. 00:07:09.32\00:07:12.89 In modern times, you know, we don't watch things 00:07:12.89\00:07:16.26 that people fight to the death. 00:07:16.26\00:07:18.33 In most cases, those are fictional shows 00:07:18.33\00:07:22.14 where they show gladiators, 00:07:22.14\00:07:24.27 but you can envision how must've been in Roman times 00:07:24.27\00:07:27.81 where the gladiator would enter the ring 00:07:27.81\00:07:29.58 and they would fight and the only one 00:07:29.58\00:07:30.88 that came out is the one that lived. 00:07:30.88\00:07:33.45 But when you think about the Christian life, 00:07:33.45\00:07:37.15 there is a fight to the death. 00:07:37.15\00:07:39.79 You see everyone wants to-- let me use the phrase, 00:07:42.06\00:07:45.36 everyone loosely, those who wanted to be baptized 00:07:45.36\00:07:48.40 often think of baptism as entering into fellowship, 00:07:48.40\00:07:52.57 joining a church, having their membership added to the role. 00:07:52.57\00:07:57.24 But I'm gonna begin tonight with a scripture 00:07:57.24\00:07:58.77 that's not on our syllabus 00:07:58.77\00:08:00.54 and I want you to see how important it is 00:08:00.54\00:08:03.01 to understand that to first and into this righteous life, 00:08:03.01\00:08:07.42 there is a fight to the death. 00:08:07.42\00:08:10.59 There are two people that are battling each other, 00:08:10.59\00:08:13.39 but I want to thank the Lord tonight that 00:08:13.39\00:08:14.69 Jesus has already won. 00:08:14.69\00:08:15.86 Can you say amen to that? Amen. 00:08:15.86\00:08:17.49 So this, but this battle-- this fight that takes place 00:08:17.49\00:08:20.20 is not just the battle that Jesus won on the cross, 00:08:20.20\00:08:23.03 but this is a battle in us. 00:08:23.03\00:08:25.17 And this battle is not a one time battle. 00:08:25.17\00:08:27.14 This battle happens how often? How do you think? 00:08:27.14\00:08:29.87 Everyday, all day long. Everyday, all day long. 00:08:29.87\00:08:34.74 Those of us who know how difficult it is, 00:08:34.74\00:08:36.24 they say everyday, all day long battle. 00:08:36.24\00:08:38.01 But I'm gonna show you in the Bible. 00:08:38.01\00:08:39.21 Go with me to Romans Chapter 6. 00:08:39.21\00:08:41.42 Romans Chapter 6, we're gonna see this, 00:08:41.42\00:08:43.39 "Fight to the death." 00:08:43.39\00:08:44.79 And by the way when you think about the fight to the death, 00:08:44.79\00:08:47.29 you don't think about it this way, 00:08:47.29\00:08:49.89 the man that lives in the gladiator's fight 00:08:49.89\00:08:53.29 is the man that leaves the ring. 00:08:53.29\00:08:54.93 Ain't that right? 00:08:54.93\00:08:56.97 But in the Christian life, the man that dies 00:08:56.97\00:09:01.40 is the man that walks away free. 00:09:01.40\00:09:03.81 You follow this very carefully. 00:09:03.81\00:09:05.04 It's an amazing dichotomy, how it's different, 00:09:05.04\00:09:08.21 because the spiritual world and the natural world 00:09:08.21\00:09:10.45 are really opposite to each other. 00:09:10.45\00:09:12.31 Romans Chapter 6. 00:09:12.31\00:09:13.62 Look with me to verse 1 and 2 to start. 00:09:13.62\00:09:15.85 Romans 6, verse 1 and verse 2. 00:09:15.85\00:09:19.72 And Paul, as he often does-- 00:09:19.72\00:09:21.72 you know what I like about Paul's writings, 00:09:21.72\00:09:23.09 sometimes he asks questions as though the people 00:09:23.09\00:09:25.86 he is talking to should already know the answer. 00:09:25.86\00:09:27.86 He says, "what?" 00:09:27.86\00:09:29.06 And if you read that in Greek, 00:09:29.06\00:09:30.10 he's like, he's surprised, "what." 00:09:30.10\00:09:33.50 He is looking at Christians who should be going 00:09:33.50\00:09:35.24 in a different direction, 00:09:35.24\00:09:36.27 so he begins with the phrase or the word, 00:09:36.27\00:09:38.01 "what" and that's what he says, "what?" 00:09:38.01\00:09:41.64 What shall we say then? 00:09:41.64\00:09:43.61 Shall we continue in sin that what may abound? 00:09:43.61\00:09:47.48 That grace may abound and he answers 00:09:47.48\00:09:51.02 emphatically "together" certainly not. 00:09:51.02\00:09:55.66 How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? 00:09:55.66\00:10:01.86 How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?" 00:10:01.86\00:10:06.03 Now when you think about dying, 00:10:06.03\00:10:07.67 you don't think about living after that. 00:10:07.67\00:10:09.67 At least the gladiator who died does not walk home. 00:10:09.67\00:10:13.78 The one who won is the one that walks home. 00:10:13.78\00:10:16.95 There's a battle that Paul outlines 00:10:16.95\00:10:18.81 here in Romans Chapter 6. 00:10:18.81\00:10:20.28 And he talks about this old man that wants to fight. 00:10:20.28\00:10:23.82 But the fight does not begin until the person 00:10:23.82\00:10:27.52 who is captured by this old man 00:10:27.52\00:10:28.99 desires to be set free. 00:10:28.99\00:10:31.83 Until there is a desire to be set free, 00:10:31.83\00:10:34.36 until there is a desire to be released from the bondage 00:10:34.36\00:10:37.63 or the chain that holds you, there is really no battle. 00:10:37.63\00:10:41.27 Let me make it even clearer. 00:10:41.27\00:10:42.97 There is no battle for people 00:10:42.97\00:10:44.91 that are living just for the world. 00:10:44.91\00:10:47.28 There is no battle. 00:10:47.28\00:10:48.54 They get up, they live for the world. 00:10:48.54\00:10:50.55 They have "fun" as they say it. 00:10:50.55\00:10:52.45 There's no struggle. 00:10:52.45\00:10:54.45 They drink like the world, they speak like the world, 00:10:54.45\00:10:58.69 they entertain like the world, they do everything. 00:10:58.69\00:11:00.82 And one of the reasons why Christians are so often shock 00:11:00.82\00:11:03.86 and we say, how can they do that? 00:11:03.86\00:11:06.19 How could anybody do that? 00:11:06.19\00:11:08.16 They are completely not even desiring to be set free. 00:11:08.16\00:11:11.97 They are completely under control by that old nature, 00:11:11.97\00:11:15.04 that nature that they got from Adam. 00:11:15.04\00:11:16.81 And Paul talks about that nature 00:11:16.81\00:11:18.07 in Romans Chapter 6 as the "old man." 00:11:18.07\00:11:21.74 But now let's go to verse 7, because Paul introduces, 00:11:21.74\00:11:25.68 "How could we leave that way if we've died 00:11:25.68\00:11:27.92 to what was formally behind us?" 00:11:27.92\00:11:29.88 He says in Romans Chapter 7-- 00:11:29.88\00:11:31.39 Romans Chapter 6 and verse 7, all right? 00:11:31.39\00:11:35.66 For he who has, what's the next word? Died. 00:11:35.66\00:11:38.99 "For He who has died has been freed from sin." 00:11:38.99\00:11:43.77 You know another way to say that and sometimes 00:11:43.77\00:11:46.67 you don't get this, but I want to give you a word 00:11:46.67\00:11:48.17 to really give you something to rejoice about, 00:11:48.17\00:11:50.57 "He who has died has been cleared from sin." 00:11:50.57\00:11:57.38 So in other words, if you look at your record, 00:11:57.38\00:11:59.28 let's just say you gave your life to the Lord 00:11:59.28\00:12:01.02 when you're 25 years old. 00:12:01.02\00:12:03.32 Those 25 years behind you are years 00:12:03.32\00:12:06.99 filled with sin and transgression 00:12:06.99\00:12:09.79 and temptation and all the things you've done wrong. 00:12:09.79\00:12:12.63 And so when you come to the point 00:12:12.63\00:12:14.00 where you enter into that relationship with Christ, 00:12:14.00\00:12:16.43 you accept Him as your Lord and savior. 00:12:16.43\00:12:18.27 Then you go down to the watery grave of baptism, 00:12:18.27\00:12:22.70 that's the burial, that signifying the death. 00:12:22.70\00:12:26.01 When you come up, you come up cleared of all the things 00:12:26.01\00:12:29.18 you've done before. Amen. Amen. 00:12:29.18\00:12:31.75 You come up completely cleared. 00:12:31.75\00:12:34.25 And I don't know of anybody who has ever been in debt 00:12:34.25\00:12:37.12 would like to be cleared of debt. 00:12:37.12\00:12:38.85 Everybody who has something that they owe 00:12:41.19\00:12:43.56 would like to be cleared of that thing that they owe. 00:12:43.56\00:12:46.43 But when you look at 25 years of sin or 30 years 00:12:46.43\00:12:50.37 or 40 years or 15 years or however long it's been, 00:12:50.37\00:12:53.34 there is no possible way for you 00:12:53.34\00:12:55.14 to be able to clear your own record. 00:12:55.14\00:12:58.11 Let me use this illustration, 00:12:58.11\00:12:59.27 there is no way to clean 00:12:59.27\00:13:03.41 a dirty window with a dirty rag. 00:13:03.41\00:13:06.88 Because our righteousness is as, what? Filthy rags. 00:13:06.88\00:13:11.55 There's no way to wipe oil off the car 00:13:11.55\00:13:14.59 if the rag has nothing but oil on it. 00:13:14.59\00:13:17.63 So we're stained by sin. 00:13:17.63\00:13:20.53 So when you come to Christ and He accepts you 00:13:20.53\00:13:22.53 and He starts clearing your life 00:13:22.53\00:13:24.77 that will give you a reason to rejoice 00:13:24.77\00:13:27.07 because you are not only freed from the power of sin, 00:13:27.07\00:13:31.37 but you're cleared from all of the stains of sin, amen. 00:13:31.37\00:13:35.41 But let's go on because verse 11 contributes to this 00:13:35.41\00:13:38.21 and I'm jumping around because 00:13:38.21\00:13:39.61 that's not the main focus tonight. 00:13:39.61\00:13:41.92 But you know what, I need to just go ahead 00:13:41.92\00:13:43.89 and add a few more verses before verse 11. 00:13:43.89\00:13:45.75 Go to verse 8, Roman 6, verse 8, 00:13:45.75\00:13:49.76 because this is added also to the topic of death. 00:13:49.76\00:13:52.23 Now if we died, how? With Christ. 00:13:52.23\00:13:55.63 We believe that we shall also, how? Lived with Him. 00:13:55.63\00:13:59.03 That living with Him is not just talking 00:13:59.03\00:14:00.40 about the kingdom to come. 00:14:00.40\00:14:02.27 That living with Him is talking about, when? 00:14:02.27\00:14:04.47 Now, right now. 00:14:04.47\00:14:07.71 And then verse 9, Knowing that Christ 00:14:07.71\00:14:11.95 having been raised from the dead dies no more, 00:14:11.95\00:14:16.89 death no longer has dominion, over who? 00:14:16.89\00:14:20.26 Over Him, for the death that He died, 00:14:20.26\00:14:23.69 He died to sin once, for how many of us? For all. 00:14:23.69\00:14:27.86 But the life that He lives, He lives to God. 00:14:27.86\00:14:30.67 In the very same way when we die to sin, 00:14:30.67\00:14:33.97 the life we live is the life we live to God. 00:14:33.97\00:14:37.64 And we can live a righteous life to God 00:14:37.64\00:14:40.78 on our own because we still have something that's mortal. 00:14:40.78\00:14:45.18 We still have a dirty rag to deal with everyday. 00:14:45.18\00:14:47.92 But let's go on to verse 11, here is the one. 00:14:47.92\00:14:50.45 And this is by faith, this is strictly by faith, 00:14:50.45\00:14:53.86 but also by accepting what Christ has done. 00:14:53.86\00:14:56.19 Likewise you also, what is the very next word? 00:14:56.19\00:14:59.63 Reckon or consider yourselves to be what? 00:14:59.63\00:15:03.06 Dead indeed to sin, but alive to God, how? 00:15:03.06\00:15:08.77 In or through Christ, Jesus our Lord. 00:15:08.77\00:15:13.11 We cannot live through anybody else. 00:15:13.11\00:15:15.08 As a matter of fact let me just emphasize this further. 00:15:15.08\00:15:18.41 If you go to a funeral 00:15:18.41\00:15:19.85 and I think each one of us has. 00:15:22.25\00:15:24.55 If you go to a funeral, 00:15:24.55\00:15:28.02 does not follow you home, right? 00:15:28.02\00:15:32.16 Aren't you glad? 00:15:32.16\00:15:34.03 But when we go to the cross, 00:15:34.03\00:15:36.97 who you are prior to that 00:15:38.63\00:15:41.20 doesn't follow you home either, why? 00:15:41.20\00:15:47.64 Galatians 2:20. Let me repeat it. 00:15:47.64\00:15:50.88 I have been crucified with Christ 00:15:50.88\00:15:54.75 nevertheless I live, but who? 00:15:54.75\00:15:59.39 Yet it is no longer I who live, but what? 00:15:59.39\00:16:03.49 Christ who lives in me 00:16:03.49\00:16:05.73 in the life I now live in the flesh, 00:16:05.73\00:16:08.70 I live by faith in the son of God 00:16:08.70\00:16:10.43 who loved me and did what? 00:16:10.43\00:16:11.90 Gave himself for me. So here's the point. 00:16:11.90\00:16:15.57 We need a spiritual respirator 00:16:15.57\00:16:18.01 after we give our lives to Christ 00:16:18.01\00:16:20.21 because that body of sin has been done away with 00:16:20.21\00:16:23.28 that man of sin has been killed. 00:16:23.28\00:16:26.25 He is not out of existence yet. 00:16:26.25\00:16:28.02 We're gonna talk about that 00:16:28.02\00:16:29.05 under the topic of sanctification. 00:16:29.05\00:16:31.45 He's not out of existence yet. 00:16:31.45\00:16:33.69 So we have to maintain a day by day 00:16:33.69\00:16:36.32 relationship to keep him dead. 00:16:36.32\00:16:38.13 So let's go ahead and go to question number one now, 00:16:38.13\00:16:40.36 very vitally important to lay that foundation. 00:16:40.36\00:16:42.50 When we're in Christ, all the old things have passed away, 00:16:42.50\00:16:46.67 behold all things are become new. 00:16:46.67\00:16:48.70 That is second Corinthians 5 and verse 17. 00:16:48.70\00:16:52.34 But now let's look at question number one. 00:16:52.34\00:16:55.34 Question number one. Here it is. 00:16:55.34\00:16:57.28 "What does the Bible reveal that informs us 00:16:57.28\00:17:00.05 that we need deliverance?" 00:17:00.05\00:17:03.69 "What does the Bible reveal 00:17:03.69\00:17:04.85 that informs us that we need deliverance?" 00:17:04.85\00:17:07.09 Romans 3 verse 23. If you are theological, 00:17:07.09\00:17:11.06 you know the answer already. 00:17:11.06\00:17:12.86 All right, are you ready? Here we go. 00:17:12.86\00:17:15.20 "For all have sinned and fall 00:17:15.20\00:17:20.20 short of the glory of God." 00:17:20.20\00:17:23.57 I used to have fun with the long jump 00:17:23.57\00:17:25.34 when I was in track and field in high school. 00:17:25.34\00:17:28.61 Do you know what the long jump is? 00:17:28.61\00:17:30.41 It's a sandbox, at least soft dirt. 00:17:30.41\00:17:34.28 Sometimes when we used to do the long jump 00:17:34.28\00:17:36.15 on cold days that was hard dirt. 00:17:36.15\00:17:38.92 But it's a sandbox, a very, very soft dirt 00:17:38.92\00:17:41.86 and what you try to do is you try to jump 00:17:41.86\00:17:43.69 as far as you could 00:17:43.69\00:17:46.06 to compete against the jump of the other person. 00:17:46.06\00:17:48.50 And if you're able to clear that sandbox altogether 00:17:50.37\00:17:53.13 not even put a footprint in that sand, 00:17:53.13\00:17:55.27 you're really good, but I have never met anybody. 00:17:55.27\00:17:59.27 I have not met anybody who ever cleared 00:17:59.27\00:18:01.74 that sandbox completely. 00:18:01.74\00:18:03.48 Every one of them fall short. 00:18:03.48\00:18:07.28 In the very same way, 00:18:07.28\00:18:08.48 we can try with all the effort. 00:18:08.48\00:18:09.88 I mean you can run as hard as you can as a Christian. 00:18:09.88\00:18:12.32 You can be running in the Christian life 00:18:12.32\00:18:13.56 with all the energy. 00:18:13.56\00:18:14.56 You can be trying as hard as you could, 00:18:14.56\00:18:16.46 but the bottom line is when you leave your feet 00:18:16.46\00:18:18.29 and try to clear what we call sin, you never clear it. 00:18:18.29\00:18:21.33 You always fall short of the glory of God. 00:18:21.33\00:18:24.47 That's why Jesus, He makes up the gap. 00:18:24.47\00:18:28.34 He closes the gap between a sinner and the savior. Amen. 00:18:28.34\00:18:32.81 How does He do it? 00:18:32.81\00:18:34.04 There's one mediator between God and man 00:18:34.04\00:18:36.88 and that's the man, who? Christ Jesus. 00:18:36.88\00:18:39.21 With this hand, he connects humanity to divinity. 00:18:39.21\00:18:43.12 And with this hand, 00:18:43.12\00:18:44.29 he connects divinity to humanity. 00:18:44.29\00:18:46.62 There's only one mediator. 00:18:46.62\00:18:48.42 There's no other name given among men 00:18:48.42\00:18:49.96 whereby we must be saved than the name of Jesus. 00:18:49.96\00:18:52.99 So he's the one that makes up the difference 00:18:52.99\00:18:55.16 between us falling short or more specifically, 00:18:55.16\00:18:57.23 let me make it very clear because 00:18:57.23\00:18:58.40 I don't want you to think 00:18:58.40\00:18:59.87 that I'm talking about our effort 00:18:59.87\00:19:01.47 plus His little input makes salvation. 00:19:01.47\00:19:05.74 I'm making the point that we have no effort on our part 00:19:05.74\00:19:08.88 that can ever contribute to His righteousness. 00:19:08.88\00:19:12.11 In other words, we could never clear that again. 00:19:12.11\00:19:14.15 We'll always fall short, so, you know, 00:19:14.15\00:19:17.52 there's no need to go out with a measuring stick and say, 00:19:17.52\00:19:19.89 "Uh, I just missed His righteousness by four inches." 00:19:19.89\00:19:24.96 There is no sense to do that because we can never get it. 00:19:24.96\00:19:27.86 You know the gap between earth and heaven. 00:19:27.86\00:19:30.23 I think I like the way that Jesus says to disciples, 00:19:30.23\00:19:32.47 He said, "Where I'm going, you cannot come." 00:19:32.47\00:19:35.60 That's the gap. But he'll come back to get us there. 00:19:35.60\00:19:38.61 So tonight we simply see the reason 00:19:38.61\00:19:41.01 why everyone of us needs deliverance 00:19:41.01\00:19:43.11 is because we have all fallen, how? 00:19:43.11\00:19:45.45 Short of the glory of God. 00:19:45.45\00:19:47.25 But let's go to question number two. 00:19:47.25\00:19:49.02 And we're gonna spend a lot of time 00:19:49.02\00:19:50.72 tonight in Romans Chapter 3 because Romans Chapter 3 00:19:50.72\00:19:53.69 is the chapter that really wonderfully defines 00:19:53.69\00:19:55.89 who we are and who we can be in Christ? 00:19:55.89\00:19:58.76 Romans Chapter 3, let's go to the question first. 00:19:58.76\00:20:02.50 "How does the Bible describe 00:20:02.50\00:20:04.87 the transaction to the pardon sinners?" 00:20:04.87\00:20:07.70 There's a transaction. 00:20:07.70\00:20:10.41 A transaction often includes some kind of monitory-- 00:20:10.41\00:20:16.88 some kind of monitory fund. 00:20:16.88\00:20:18.91 There's always something included in transaction 00:20:18.91\00:20:21.28 that pays for something. 00:20:21.28\00:20:22.95 But here is the answer, Romans 3 and verse 24. 00:20:22.95\00:20:27.46 Look at the transaction. 00:20:27.46\00:20:29.32 "Being justified," let's say the next word together. 00:20:29.32\00:20:33.36 "Freely by His grace through the redemption 00:20:33.36\00:20:38.93 that is in Christ Jesus." 00:20:38.93\00:20:41.60 How are we justified? Freely. 00:20:41.60\00:20:45.07 Now what I want to get this is it. 00:20:45.07\00:20:46.84 Here it is. Just look at that hand again. 00:20:46.84\00:20:48.54 The hand that reaches down from God to man, 00:20:48.54\00:20:51.15 there is no charge for that, 00:20:51.15\00:20:52.65 because the hand that reaches from man to God is expensive. 00:20:52.65\00:20:56.48 We're not redeemed by corruptible things 00:20:57.75\00:20:59.55 like silver and gold, 00:20:59.55\00:21:00.79 but the precious blood of Christ 00:21:00.79\00:21:02.66 as that of a spotless lamb. 00:21:02.66\00:21:04.29 So this arm is the expensive arm, 00:21:04.29\00:21:06.46 but when it reaches down the man 00:21:06.46\00:21:07.56 there's no charge. Amen? Amen. 00:21:07.56\00:21:10.17 He doesn't charge us to connect us to God 00:21:10.17\00:21:12.30 because as the song writer say, 00:21:12.30\00:21:13.97 "Jesus paid it all. All to him I owe." 00:21:13.97\00:21:18.77 So you begin to see the Bible describes 00:21:18.77\00:21:21.04 the transaction to pardon sinners 00:21:21.04\00:21:22.51 as we're justified freely. 00:21:22.51\00:21:25.55 Salvation is free to us. 00:21:25.55\00:21:27.18 The hand that reaches down to connect to man, 00:21:27.18\00:21:29.42 but on this hand that reaches up 00:21:29.42\00:21:30.72 to connect the God it's expensive 00:21:30.72\00:21:32.39 because Jesus gave up everything in heaven. 00:21:32.39\00:21:35.99 How many of us will do that 00:21:35.99\00:21:37.33 for just somebody that we didn't know, 00:21:37.33\00:21:40.46 somebody that wouldn't appreciate it. 00:21:40.46\00:21:42.36 And when you think about how Jesus did that the Bible says, 00:21:42.36\00:21:44.43 in that while we're yet, what? 00:21:44.43\00:21:47.17 Sinners. Christ died for us. 00:21:47.17\00:21:48.67 So he didn't say, well, Mike, when you get it together, 00:21:48.67\00:21:54.64 I'll come down and die for you. 00:21:54.64\00:21:56.81 And then if that was the case, you say, Mike, 00:21:56.81\00:21:59.38 you know, it's not my fault, 00:21:59.38\00:22:00.62 you just never got it together. 00:22:00.62\00:22:02.78 But God's love for us is so great, friends. 00:22:02.78\00:22:04.89 I want to emphasize this. God's love for us is so great. 00:22:04.89\00:22:08.49 He saw us under the bondage of an enemy 00:22:08.49\00:22:13.29 that hated him and that hated us. 00:22:13.29\00:22:16.13 And wanted to do nothing more than torment 00:22:16.13\00:22:18.17 and torture his children and hold them in bondage and fear. 00:22:18.17\00:22:21.50 But I like it when Jesus sets us free, 00:22:21.50\00:22:23.57 The Bible says when He sets us free 00:22:23.57\00:22:25.51 He doesn't even allow 00:22:25.51\00:22:27.41 the spirit of fear to continue. 00:22:27.41\00:22:30.48 For God has not given us 00:22:30.48\00:22:31.68 the spirit of fear but of what? 00:22:31.68\00:22:34.25 Power. What else? Love and what else? A sound mind. 00:22:34.25\00:22:38.42 He takes away not just our record, 00:22:38.42\00:22:40.69 but He clears us, I'm excited. 00:22:40.69\00:22:44.13 He clears us of all the things that held us fearful. Amen. 00:22:44.13\00:22:48.36 Praise be His name. Question number three. 00:22:50.70\00:22:53.97 So if you put the answer for number two, 00:22:53.97\00:22:56.20 the transaction to pardon the sinner justified freely. 00:22:56.20\00:23:00.81 That is to us. Question number-- 00:23:00.81\00:23:03.48 let me read this quotation by the way. 00:23:03.48\00:23:05.61 This is between question two and question three, 00:23:05.61\00:23:09.12 very, very powerful. 00:23:09.12\00:23:10.32 This is from the book, Christ Triumphant. 00:23:10.32\00:23:12.89 Page 150, paragraph 3. 00:23:13.86\00:23:15.66 Follow me carefully, "As penitent sinners, 00:23:15.66\00:23:20.20 contrite before God, 00:23:20.20\00:23:22.20 discern Christ's atonement in their behalf." 00:23:22.20\00:23:25.73 In other words, as they come to grips with it 00:23:25.73\00:23:28.00 and accept this atonement as their only hope 00:23:28.00\00:23:31.71 in this life and the future life, 00:23:31.71\00:23:34.88 their sins are, what? Pardoned. 00:23:34.88\00:23:38.18 This is justification by faith. 00:23:38.18\00:23:42.42 Pardon and justification are one 00:23:42.42\00:23:45.92 and the same thing, amen. 00:23:45.92\00:23:47.99 Pardon and justification are one and the same thing. 00:23:47.99\00:23:52.26 Now I don't-- what I'm going to do tonight 00:23:52.26\00:23:54.86 is I'm going to add some greater context to that 00:23:54.86\00:23:57.90 because you know, sometimes you think 00:23:57.90\00:24:00.04 when we say to somebody, Uh, it's okay, I'm sorry. 00:24:00.04\00:24:02.20 I'm sorry. Okay, you are pardoned. 00:24:02.20\00:24:05.54 It's not the same thing. It's not that simple. 00:24:05.54\00:24:09.08 Because there's an obligation that comes along, 00:24:09.08\00:24:11.51 there's an obligation that comes along 00:24:11.51\00:24:13.15 with our connection to Christ. 00:24:13.15\00:24:14.52 There's a great obligation that comes into that gap 00:24:14.52\00:24:17.39 and allows us to see 00:24:17.39\00:24:18.95 where we are in relationship to where Christ is. 00:24:18.95\00:24:23.09 So pardon is not as simple as, 00:24:23.09\00:24:25.39 "Uh, Hannah, that's okay, don't worry about it." 00:24:25.39\00:24:28.56 It's a great transaction, 00:24:28.56\00:24:30.47 but what this quotation says that excites me is, 00:24:30.47\00:24:34.47 when you sit down and you contemplate 00:24:34.47\00:24:36.24 what Jesus has done for you, 00:24:36.24\00:24:37.87 when you think carefully 00:24:37.87\00:24:39.77 that you could never have done it for yourself, 00:24:39.77\00:24:43.21 when you think about all the glories that revealed, 00:24:43.21\00:24:45.21 all the hope that's revealed, 00:24:45.21\00:24:46.98 all of the heaven that's being prepared for us 00:24:46.98\00:24:49.52 and you think what could I do to get there 00:24:49.52\00:24:51.79 and you come up with a conclusion, 00:24:51.79\00:24:52.79 there is nothing I can do and then someone says, 00:24:52.79\00:24:55.56 "John Dinzey, I'm not only paying for your past, 00:24:55.56\00:24:58.96 I'm giving you power for the present, 00:24:58.96\00:25:00.93 assurance for the future, 00:25:00.93\00:25:02.70 and the promise of eternal life." 00:25:02.70\00:25:04.00 That gives you reason to say hallelujah. Amen. 00:25:04.00\00:25:06.53 He says this world is bad as it is getting. 00:25:07.54\00:25:09.77 It's not your final frontier. 00:25:09.77\00:25:12.17 As they used to say on Star Trek years ago. 00:25:12.17\00:25:14.44 It's not your final home. 00:25:14.44\00:25:15.74 Even Abraham who is a friend of God 00:25:15.74\00:25:17.85 and his works brought him into relationship, 00:25:17.85\00:25:21.08 his works verified that he accepted 00:25:21.08\00:25:23.79 the justification of Christ, 00:25:23.79\00:25:25.82 and because of that he said, wait a minute, 00:25:25.82\00:25:27.69 I'm looking for a city which had foundations 00:25:27.69\00:25:29.92 whose builder and maker is God. 00:25:29.92\00:25:31.26 He realized that what Jesus had done for him. 00:25:31.26\00:25:34.10 What Jesus would do for him 00:25:34.10\00:25:36.00 going and looking to the cross, 00:25:36.00\00:25:37.93 would give him the glory of leaving this world one day. 00:25:37.93\00:25:40.20 But there's another quotation from the very same book, 00:25:40.20\00:25:43.14 I wanna continue to talk about justification. 00:25:43.14\00:25:45.54 Look at the screen. 00:25:45.54\00:25:47.21 Christ Triumphant, page 150, but now paragraph 4. 00:25:47.21\00:25:50.85 It reads as follows. 00:25:50.85\00:25:52.58 "Justification is the opposite of," what? 00:25:52.58\00:25:56.15 Condemnation, if you ever felt condemned, 00:25:56.15\00:25:58.42 you know what that means. 00:25:58.42\00:25:59.55 "God's boundless mercy is exercised toward those 00:25:59.55\00:26:03.83 who are wholly undeserving." 00:26:03.83\00:26:06.03 You don't deserve it. 00:26:07.03\00:26:08.86 "He forgives transgressions 00:26:08.86\00:26:11.10 and sins for the sake of Jesus 00:26:11.10\00:26:15.10 who has become the propitiation for our sins, 00:26:15.10\00:26:20.08 the payment, the substitute. 00:26:20.08\00:26:22.88 Through faith in Christ, 00:26:22.88\00:26:24.68 the guilty transgressor is bought into, what? 00:26:24.68\00:26:28.95 Favor with God and into the strong hope of life eternal." 00:26:28.95\00:26:35.02 Wow. I want to say thank God for that. 00:26:35.02\00:26:38.43 But I want to emphasize something, 00:26:38.43\00:26:40.03 he has brought into the strong hope of life eternal. 00:26:40.03\00:26:43.73 Let me emphasize what that means? 00:26:43.73\00:26:45.83 When God led the children of Israel out of Egypt, 00:26:45.83\00:26:49.50 they were not immediately in the promise land. 00:26:49.50\00:26:51.81 As a matter of fact, you read the Bible you see 00:26:51.81\00:26:53.24 that many of them did not make it. 00:26:53.24\00:26:55.88 He did not require them to do anything 00:26:55.88\00:26:57.88 except his freedom to get them out of Egypt, right? 00:26:57.88\00:27:01.98 Come on out. Matter of fact, even some Egyptians came out. 00:27:01.98\00:27:06.86 So the coming out process was extended to everyone 00:27:06.86\00:27:10.46 who accepted God's deliverance. 00:27:10.46\00:27:13.50 And they had the hope of going in. 00:27:13.50\00:27:16.77 This is very important. 00:27:16.77\00:27:18.30 Because this thought I'm communicating 00:27:18.30\00:27:20.97 debunks the attitude 00:27:20.97\00:27:22.50 or the teaching of once saved, always saved. 00:27:22.50\00:27:24.77 How you live between the exit of Egypt 00:27:26.31\00:27:29.14 and the border of the promise land determined 00:27:29.14\00:27:31.88 whether or not the hope of eternal life 00:27:31.88\00:27:34.12 became the reality of eternal life. 00:27:34.12\00:27:36.92 That's very vitally important 00:27:36.92\00:27:38.42 because a lot of people get baptized. 00:27:38.42\00:27:40.12 And you know what happens? 00:27:40.12\00:27:41.19 After they get baptized, 00:27:41.19\00:27:42.16 they go back to living the way they did before. 00:27:42.16\00:27:44.49 They go back to their old life and doesn't really matter 00:27:44.49\00:27:46.39 because some how maybe they don't believe 00:27:46.39\00:27:48.80 in once saved always saved, 00:27:48.80\00:27:49.90 but somehow they dismissed 00:27:49.90\00:27:51.00 the idea that I just left Egypt. 00:27:51.00\00:27:54.44 There is a journey ahead of me. 00:27:54.44\00:27:55.94 Unfortunately in the case of the Israelites, 00:27:55.94\00:27:57.91 it was much longer than God intended, 00:27:57.91\00:27:59.74 but in our lives, whether it's 15 years or 10 years 00:27:59.74\00:28:02.58 or some people have been Christians 00:28:02.58\00:28:03.75 60 years or 70 or more, 00:28:03.75\00:28:05.81 however long it is, it's a day by day journey. 00:28:05.81\00:28:09.18 It's a humbling reality to know that 00:28:09.18\00:28:10.85 when you wake up everyday, 00:28:10.85\00:28:12.05 you got to take one more step in this journey 00:28:12.05\00:28:14.29 advancing toward the promise land. 00:28:14.29\00:28:16.86 And as the song writers says, 00:28:16.86\00:28:17.93 "We see the gleams of the golden morning." 00:28:17.93\00:28:19.46 We know that one day 00:28:19.46\00:28:20.46 we will enter the promise land. 00:28:20.46\00:28:21.86 But how you lived down here says whether or not 00:28:21.86\00:28:24.87 you accept the great pardoning process and value 00:28:24.87\00:28:31.87 and salvation that comes through being justified. 00:28:31.87\00:28:35.94 You know, for somebody--Larry-- 00:28:35.94\00:28:37.98 I may use Larry as an example. 00:28:37.98\00:28:39.71 Larry is one of the nicest guys we have around here. 00:28:39.71\00:28:43.25 You don't have to ask Larry to do whole lot. 00:28:43.25\00:28:44.69 Larry just gives and gives and gives of himself. 00:28:44.69\00:28:47.26 But one thing Larry can't do is buy salvation. 00:28:49.32\00:28:52.69 So the Lord says to Larry. 00:28:52.69\00:28:54.36 You could look Larry nowadays 00:28:54.36\00:28:55.36 and you'll never think that 00:28:55.36\00:28:56.36 Larry used to be a motorcyclist, 00:28:56.36\00:29:00.07 a wild person, who lived a completely different life 00:29:00.07\00:29:03.71 to what he lives now and you look at his life and say, 00:29:03.71\00:29:05.84 how on earth did you get from where you are 00:29:05.84\00:29:08.08 or where you are today. 00:29:08.08\00:29:09.51 We got to say he went 00:29:09.51\00:29:10.51 to the curtain of God's justification. 00:29:10.51\00:29:13.48 God could not always save you, but he changes you also. 00:29:13.48\00:29:16.48 But if Larry sat down and said, okay, Lord, 00:29:16.48\00:29:18.22 I'm changed the whole. 00:29:18.22\00:29:19.32 Lord, I think I got it from here then all that debt. 00:29:19.32\00:29:23.89 All that debt is piled back on him. 00:29:23.89\00:29:27.03 Then he realizes, wait a minute. 00:29:29.26\00:29:30.77 Why are you giving that back to me? 00:29:30.77\00:29:31.97 He said, because you have said you have it from hereon now. 00:29:31.97\00:29:35.00 Remember the story of the man who owed so much, 00:29:35.00\00:29:38.21 he couldn't pay it. 00:29:38.21\00:29:40.61 And I can't remember all the amounts he owed, 00:29:40.61\00:29:42.61 but if you think about how much he owed. 00:29:42.61\00:29:44.18 He said to the person that he owed, 00:29:44.18\00:29:46.05 he said, just give me some more time 00:29:46.05\00:29:49.42 and I will pay for it. 00:29:49.42\00:29:50.75 But when you go home and do a Bible study 00:29:50.75\00:29:52.72 on that particular sermon, 00:29:52.72\00:29:53.79 I believe this is in the book of Matthew. 00:29:53.79\00:29:55.56 He owed a many, many, many, many thousands of talents. 00:29:55.56\00:29:59.36 Give me some time and I will pay for it. 00:29:59.36\00:30:01.50 I did some research into the story. 00:30:01.50\00:30:03.90 And based on the cost of a talent, 00:30:03.90\00:30:06.27 it would have taken that man 340 years 00:30:06.27\00:30:09.37 to work off that debt. 00:30:09.37\00:30:11.87 Well, you know what? He couldn't live 340 years. 00:30:11.87\00:30:14.38 But that's 340 years if he did nothing 00:30:14.38\00:30:16.68 but just work to pay the debt, 00:30:16.68\00:30:19.18 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. 00:30:19.18\00:30:23.32 He could not afford to pay that debt. 00:30:23.32\00:30:25.55 But what happened in the transaction, 00:30:25.55\00:30:27.42 he was forgiven that debt, amen. 00:30:27.42\00:30:29.39 Amen. That represents us. 00:30:29.39\00:30:31.23 But on the flip side of that 00:30:31.23\00:30:32.33 and the reason I mentioned is here 00:30:32.33\00:30:33.53 because we have to understand 00:30:33.53\00:30:34.93 what God has done for us through Christ, 00:30:34.93\00:30:37.07 we have to be willing to do for others. 00:30:37.07\00:30:40.20 Very important point here. 00:30:40.20\00:30:41.30 So he goes now to a friend who owes him very little 00:30:41.30\00:30:44.37 and he demands a payment. 00:30:45.64\00:30:48.44 Matter of fact, he wants to torment this man 00:30:48.44\00:30:51.18 for what he owes him and the person, the king, 00:30:51.18\00:30:54.45 that just pardoned him hears about it and says, 00:30:54.45\00:30:57.75 Uh, you unworthy, you--what's that word, 00:30:57.75\00:31:02.19 come on give it to me? 00:31:02.19\00:31:04.49 You unthankful person and he gets him 00:31:04.49\00:31:07.30 and he throws him in jail. 00:31:07.30\00:31:09.60 Well, you know what that means? 00:31:09.60\00:31:10.70 If the lord is willing enough to forgive us 00:31:10.70\00:31:13.30 for all that we have done, all that we have done, 00:31:13.30\00:31:15.64 we have to be willing to forgive people 00:31:15.64\00:31:17.61 for the little they have done to us. 00:31:17.61\00:31:19.41 Because we cannot buy our own salvation. 00:31:21.08\00:31:22.98 Look at the next question. 00:31:22.98\00:31:24.08 Question number three. Very important. 00:31:24.08\00:31:27.38 Very important. Question three. 00:31:27.38\00:31:28.95 "How did David the patriarch express 00:31:28.95\00:31:32.35 the joy of justification?" 00:31:32.35\00:31:34.59 I left this for the heels of that story 00:31:34.59\00:31:36.73 because it's very powerful. 00:31:36.73\00:31:38.03 How did he express the joy of justification? 00:31:38.03\00:31:41.20 Psalms 32, verse 1 or Psalm 32 verse 1. 00:31:41.20\00:31:45.33 You know when it's one verse, people say Psalm. 00:31:45.33\00:31:47.17 And when it's many verses, they say Psalms. 00:31:47.17\00:31:49.94 You could settle that argument. 00:31:49.94\00:31:51.57 I kind of go Psalm or Psalms depending. 00:31:51.57\00:31:54.18 But here it is. 00:31:54.18\00:31:55.64 Psalm 32, verse 1 and it reads as follows. 00:31:55.64\00:31:58.58 Let's read this together because this is beautiful. 00:31:58.58\00:32:00.32 Are you ready? Here we go. 00:32:00.32\00:32:01.85 "Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, 00:32:01.85\00:32:06.59 whose sin is covered." 00:32:06.59\00:32:10.26 Ain't that wonderful? 00:32:10.26\00:32:12.19 The word blessed is a powerful word that says-- 00:32:12.19\00:32:14.83 The word, "blessed" not only means happy, 00:32:14.83\00:32:16.67 but it means exuberantly happy, 00:32:16.67\00:32:19.20 that's why I asked the question, 00:32:19.20\00:32:20.34 how did David expressed the joy? 00:32:20.34\00:32:22.74 When you look at the life of David, 00:32:25.14\00:32:27.61 you are amazed and if we were today, 00:32:27.61\00:32:30.55 if we had somebody in our congregation 00:32:30.55\00:32:32.18 that did what David did. 00:32:32.18\00:32:34.05 Men alive the general conference will hear about it. 00:32:35.58\00:32:39.59 Am I telling the truth? Yes. 00:32:39.59\00:32:40.96 That would be on Facebook, on Twitter, on Youtube. 00:32:40.96\00:32:46.49 We would try to dig up all of his records 00:32:46.49\00:32:49.06 and when he steps up to the pulpit 00:32:49.06\00:32:50.43 to sing a song, that's him. 00:32:50.43\00:32:52.67 Am I telling the truth? That's how condemning we are. 00:32:52.67\00:32:55.17 That's how sure we are on forgetting 00:32:55.17\00:32:57.07 what people have done. 00:32:57.07\00:32:59.51 But after Lord cleaned 00:32:59.51\00:33:00.71 David heart out, his heart out, 00:33:00.71\00:33:02.08 after he faithfully repented off 00:33:02.08\00:33:04.81 his sins, search me. 00:33:04.81\00:33:06.65 Oh, God, see if there be any wicked way in me. 00:33:06.65\00:33:10.19 He prayed take not your Holy Spirit, 00:33:10.19\00:33:12.49 restore to me the joy of your salvation. 00:33:12.49\00:33:15.49 He repented, he fervently repented 00:33:15.49\00:33:18.96 and that was a sincere repentance. 00:33:18.96\00:33:20.53 Even though he still had to grow 00:33:20.53\00:33:21.80 on the human aspects after that, 00:33:21.80\00:33:23.53 he so sincerely repented that he wrote this text, 00:33:23.53\00:33:27.57 "Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, 00:33:27.57\00:33:31.91 whose sin is coered." 00:33:31.91\00:33:33.71 Mind you, people still knew that he had killed Uriah. 00:33:33.71\00:33:37.88 Mind you, he was still with the woman 00:33:37.88\00:33:41.35 whose man he stoled-- 00:33:41.35\00:33:45.75 whose woman he stole her from-- 00:33:45.75\00:33:47.16 how you put that. 00:33:47.16\00:33:48.19 He stoled her from a man and killed the husband. 00:33:48.19\00:33:50.83 He was still with her. 00:33:50.83\00:33:52.13 They had a child that died, but God was forgiving 00:33:52.13\00:33:54.93 and He blessed them with another child. 00:33:54.93\00:33:56.73 The result of our sin continues some times, 00:33:56.73\00:34:00.64 but thank the Lord that the stain of it 00:34:00.64\00:34:06.07 in the side of God does not continue. 00:34:06.07\00:34:08.41 Somebody asked me, well, what if God-- 00:34:08.41\00:34:10.88 is there anything I can do that God cannot forgive me of? 00:34:10.88\00:34:12.91 And I said, "Yes, there is something you can do." 00:34:12.91\00:34:14.95 And that's to resist 00:34:14.95\00:34:15.98 the work of the Holy Spirit in your life. 00:34:15.98\00:34:18.25 Outside of that there's no category 00:34:18.25\00:34:19.62 that God can't forgive. 00:34:19.62\00:34:21.39 So David was happy, he rejoiced. 00:34:21.39\00:34:24.03 But here's question number four. 00:34:24.03\00:34:26.66 "How effective does Isaiah reveal 00:34:26.66\00:34:29.30 the righteousness of Christ to be?" How effective? 00:34:29.30\00:34:33.17 We are gonna go to Isaiah 1 and verse 18, 00:34:33.17\00:34:35.64 "How effective does Isaiah reveal 00:34:35.64\00:34:37.97 the righteousness of Christ to be?" 00:34:37.97\00:34:40.14 Before I get into the intricacies of breaking down 00:34:40.14\00:34:42.24 what justification really is. 00:34:42.24\00:34:43.55 I wanna help you see how completely, 00:34:43.55\00:34:45.61 how wonderful God does a job. 00:34:45.61\00:34:48.22 About three or four years ago, 00:34:48.22\00:34:49.62 my wife and I, we'd bought a Honda, 00:34:49.62\00:34:52.32 a nice new Honda for our 25th anniversary, 00:34:52.32\00:34:55.92 silver and we were going to someone's house 00:34:55.92\00:34:58.36 during the Christmas season. 00:34:58.36\00:34:59.76 And it was on the Saturday night 00:34:59.76\00:35:00.90 and the roads were dark 00:35:00.90\00:35:01.93 and we were riding on one of those-- 00:35:01.93\00:35:03.60 driving on one of those two lane roads 00:35:03.60\00:35:04.87 in the backwoods of Thompsonville. 00:35:04.87\00:35:06.50 And we saw a large deer on the side of the road, 00:35:06.50\00:35:09.20 but he had paws and big old antlers, 00:35:09.20\00:35:13.78 and so we continued our speed as we were going along. 00:35:13.78\00:35:16.88 Just then as we got close to him, 00:35:18.08\00:35:19.78 he lowered his head, darted across a single lane 00:35:19.78\00:35:23.18 and rammed right into our vehicle. 00:35:23.18\00:35:25.72 All the airbags deployed. Axle got broken. 00:35:25.72\00:35:30.66 Thank the Lord, the angels kept the car straight. 00:35:30.66\00:35:32.39 Praise God for that. 00:35:32.39\00:35:33.73 $10,500 in damage, not too many months 00:35:34.46\00:35:38.80 after we got the car. 00:35:38.80\00:35:40.17 Awful, uh, and we had to leave that vehicle right there. 00:35:40.17\00:35:44.57 They came with a tow truck and picked it up 00:35:45.77\00:35:47.94 and we went to the site and saw 00:35:47.94\00:35:50.41 all the terrible damage in the light of the daylight, 00:35:50.41\00:35:52.95 went to the body shop and saw how horrible things were. 00:35:52.95\00:35:55.75 And you know, when we looked at the car our-- 00:35:55.75\00:35:58.59 my appeal then was this. 00:35:58.59\00:36:01.46 Could you just give us a new one? 00:36:01.46\00:36:03.29 Because it just-- I mean I don't know 00:36:04.63\00:36:05.99 how you gonna fix that from front, left, center, 00:36:05.99\00:36:09.56 all way to the back that deer trembled 00:36:09.56\00:36:11.40 all along the side of our car, banging up, everything. 00:36:11.40\00:36:13.90 All the airbags from the left, 00:36:13.90\00:36:16.17 all the way to the back, everyone of them deployed. 00:36:16.17\00:36:18.94 Even the seat airbag, everything was messed up. 00:36:18.94\00:36:21.51 And I said, there's no way I could be-- 00:36:21.51\00:36:24.08 I know there're people that could do this stuff, 00:36:24.08\00:36:26.18 but not this. 00:36:26.18\00:36:28.82 And they said, "We could fix it." 00:36:28.82\00:36:32.02 Now I drive that car, my wife drives that car 00:36:32.02\00:36:34.59 and we look at that thing and we say, 00:36:34.59\00:36:35.82 "Where was the damage?" 00:36:35.82\00:36:38.23 I don't remember where the damage was. 00:36:38.23\00:36:39.53 I mean, intellectually I do, 00:36:39.53\00:36:41.56 but you can't see any traces of how it was before. 00:36:41.56\00:36:44.63 And I thought and I said to the body shop, 00:36:44.63\00:36:46.47 "Man, you guys did a good job. 00:36:46.47\00:36:48.44 You did really good job. 00:36:48.44\00:36:50.04 Now here's my point, if man can do that for a car, 00:36:50.04\00:36:53.91 how completely can Jesus do it for us? 00:36:53.91\00:36:57.25 Look at Isaiah. Isaiah 1, verse 18. 00:36:57.25\00:37:00.85 Notice what he says, I like this. 00:37:00.85\00:37:02.45 He invites us, He says, what? 00:37:02.45\00:37:04.25 Come now and let us reason how together, saith the lord. 00:37:04.25\00:37:08.89 That's a great invitation. 00:37:08.89\00:37:10.49 Though your sins be as, what? Scarlet. 00:37:10.49\00:37:14.66 They shall be as white as snow, 00:37:14.66\00:37:18.50 though they be red like what, crimson, 00:37:18.50\00:37:22.10 they shall be how, as wool. 00:37:22.10\00:37:24.37 Ain't that wonderful? 00:37:24.37\00:37:25.77 He is saying, you had a terrible accident, 00:37:25.77\00:37:27.41 it's called the Adam crash. 00:37:27.41\00:37:29.54 Adam crashed in the Garden of Eden, 00:37:29.54\00:37:31.58 passed on a messed up vehicle to everybody 00:37:31.58\00:37:33.58 that was born into this world 00:37:33.58\00:37:35.22 and he went driving around wondering 00:37:35.22\00:37:36.99 how to get our vehicles fixed. 00:37:36.99\00:37:39.15 Because the Lord say, you are not taken 00:37:39.15\00:37:40.26 that messed up vehicle to heaven. 00:37:40.26\00:37:42.19 So Jesus comes down and he opens a body shop. 00:37:42.19\00:37:46.59 And he gets rid of our mortal body 00:37:46.59\00:37:49.00 and gives us a hope of his immortal body. 00:37:49.00\00:37:50.90 Can you say, amen? Amen. 00:37:50.90\00:37:52.23 He says those who bore the earthly 00:37:52.23\00:37:54.37 will one day bear the heavenly 00:37:54.37\00:37:55.94 and we look at ourselves and we say, 00:37:55.94\00:37:57.51 how is that gonna happen? 00:37:57.51\00:37:59.64 And then he says to us, 00:37:59.64\00:38:01.04 "Janice, it does not yet appear what you shall be." 00:38:01.04\00:38:05.01 Praise the Lord. 00:38:05.01\00:38:06.35 "But we do know when I'm done you'll see me 00:38:06.35\00:38:11.25 as I am because you be just like me." 00:38:11.25\00:38:14.16 Ain't that wonderful news? 00:38:14.16\00:38:15.49 That's what Jesus wants to do for every one of us. 00:38:15.49\00:38:17.43 He wants to clean us up so wonderfully that 00:38:17.43\00:38:20.40 so when you see your brother and sister stumbling, 00:38:20.40\00:38:23.06 don't write 'em off because God hasn't written you off. 00:38:23.06\00:38:26.60 He is working on us to fit us into his righteous kingdom 00:38:26.60\00:38:29.64 and he is saying to us, you can't do it without me. 00:38:29.64\00:38:33.61 What also amazed me is when I went to the body shop, 00:38:33.61\00:38:36.91 I looked in the back of that body shop 00:38:36.91\00:38:38.58 and I saw cars everywhere. 00:38:38.58\00:38:41.45 I mean, wind shields, roofs crushed in and I said, 00:38:41.45\00:38:46.72 now are those cars gonna be junk? 00:38:46.72\00:38:48.52 No, they're all in line to be fixed. 00:38:48.52\00:38:50.99 And I am thinking, man these guys are good. 00:38:50.99\00:38:53.33 And I looked at my Lord and said, 00:38:53.33\00:38:54.56 he is a lot better than they are, amen. 00:38:54.56\00:38:56.70 Because no matter how we were 00:38:56.70\00:38:58.67 through his diligent labor, 00:38:58.67\00:39:01.04 the cross, the body shop of humanity, 00:39:01.04\00:39:03.94 the cross, the blood shed 00:39:03.94\00:39:06.21 to cover our filthy righteousness. 00:39:06.21\00:39:08.58 Praise the Lord for that. 00:39:08.58\00:39:09.88 But it continues because here is the next question. 00:39:09.88\00:39:12.75 I am gonna drive this point home. 00:39:12.75\00:39:15.05 Question number five. 00:39:15.05\00:39:16.48 "How completely does the righteousness of Jesus 00:39:16.48\00:39:22.42 cover our sin?" How completely? 00:39:22.42\00:39:24.93 And I want you to notice I used the word, 00:39:24.93\00:39:26.43 S-I-N because I am not talking about S-I-N-S. 00:39:26.43\00:39:30.43 This is very important to understand. 00:39:30.43\00:39:32.27 For those who think I'm talking about marijuana 00:39:32.27\00:39:34.77 and drug abuse and stealing and pornography 00:39:34.77\00:39:37.04 and sexuality and all these things, 00:39:37.04\00:39:39.04 I'm not talking about that, those are sins, 00:39:39.04\00:39:41.34 those are itemized things that the fallen nature falls into. 00:39:41.34\00:39:45.11 But how completely does the righteousness of Christ, 00:39:45.11\00:39:48.02 Jesus cover our sin. 00:39:48.02\00:39:50.25 Here is how completely and the sin I'm talking about 00:39:50.25\00:39:52.19 is the broken nature that we got from Adam. 00:39:52.19\00:39:55.39 First John 1:9, here it is. 00:39:55.39\00:39:59.89 If--what's the first word? "If we confess our sins, 00:39:59.89\00:40:04.77 He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins 00:40:04.77\00:40:09.77 and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 00:40:09.77\00:40:15.11 Praise the Lord for that. 00:40:15.11\00:40:16.78 Not a partial cleansing, I've had my teeth cleaned before. 00:40:16.78\00:40:19.58 Anybody over here had your teeth cleaned at a dentist? 00:40:19.58\00:40:23.18 I read a story of a guy who said, 00:40:23.18\00:40:24.85 he really likes his dental hygienist, 00:40:24.85\00:40:27.49 so when he went to the-- before he went to the dentist 00:40:27.49\00:40:29.99 he will sit and eat a whole bag of Oreo cookies. 00:40:29.99\00:40:33.16 I mean Oreo cookies will really mess you up. 00:40:33.16\00:40:35.46 I mean really, if you've done that before it just, 00:40:35.46\00:40:38.53 it just stains everywhere. 00:40:38.53\00:40:40.77 But none of those stains existed 00:40:40.77\00:40:42.67 after he got a thorough cleaning. 00:40:42.67\00:40:44.54 In the very same way, 00:40:44.54\00:40:45.71 if we take our broken stained lives to Christ, 00:40:45.71\00:40:48.21 He so completely covers us. 00:40:48.21\00:40:50.11 The Bible says, He cleanses us from, how much? 00:40:50.11\00:40:53.05 All, A-L-L, all, all unrighteousness. 00:40:53.05\00:40:57.59 And that's the reality of this world. 00:40:57.59\00:40:59.42 You know we look at all the conditions of the world 00:40:59.42\00:41:01.49 politically and religiously and every other dichotomy 00:41:01.49\00:41:05.39 that exists in our world, but the only real issue, 00:41:05.39\00:41:07.76 let me just pause for a moment. 00:41:07.76\00:41:09.70 The only real issue, look up real quick, 00:41:09.70\00:41:12.00 the only real issue is not the gas prices, 00:41:12.00\00:41:17.17 not who's gonna be the next president, 00:41:17.17\00:41:19.11 not whether or not real estate is gonna go back up. 00:41:19.11\00:41:21.68 The only real issue in this life is, 00:41:21.68\00:41:24.55 are we going to accept the salvation 00:41:24.55\00:41:27.62 that Jesus offers to us? 00:41:27.62\00:41:31.12 Because He didn't come to save houses 00:41:31.12\00:41:32.82 and lower oil prices and get the right president. 00:41:32.82\00:41:37.13 He came to save sinners. What's the mission of Jesus? 00:41:37.13\00:41:41.26 For the son of man has come to seek 00:41:41.26\00:41:43.00 and to save that which was lost. 00:41:43.00\00:41:45.93 That's the mission of Jesus. 00:41:45.93\00:41:47.34 That's the only real issue in his life. 00:41:47.34\00:41:49.00 Everything else will be handled in time. 00:41:49.00\00:41:50.87 Everything that's an issue now 00:41:50.87\00:41:52.54 may not be an issue in four years. 00:41:52.54\00:41:54.98 But the real issue that will continue on 00:41:54.98\00:41:56.61 until sin is eradicated is whether or not 00:41:56.61\00:41:58.95 we'll accept the righteousness of Christ. 00:41:58.95\00:42:01.75 Question number six, Question number six, 00:42:01.75\00:42:05.05 and I like the way I put this. 00:42:05.05\00:42:06.49 You know I must-- some creatives here, 00:42:06.49\00:42:08.39 when I'm studying this lesson, 00:42:08.39\00:42:09.96 you know it's nice about this 00:42:09.96\00:42:10.96 I get the blessing of this lesson, 00:42:10.96\00:42:12.83 when I study it and then when I present it to you, 00:42:12.83\00:42:15.93 I get a double blessing. 00:42:15.93\00:42:17.43 I cut the tree down and I get the warmth of the firewood. 00:42:17.43\00:42:20.37 What makes the gospel "Good News?" 00:42:22.20\00:42:24.91 What makes it good news? 00:42:24.91\00:42:27.01 Romans 1 verse 16 and verse 17. 00:42:27.01\00:42:30.75 What makes it good news? I like this. 00:42:30.75\00:42:34.45 When Paul writes he begins the story 00:42:34.45\00:42:37.45 or the book to the Romans, he writes this way. 00:42:37.45\00:42:40.69 Romans 1 verse 16 and verse 17. 00:42:40.69\00:42:43.49 And he says, For I am not ashamed 00:42:43.49\00:42:48.63 of the gospel of Christ, but now get this, 00:42:48.63\00:42:52.73 for it is the, what's the next word? 00:42:52.73\00:42:55.44 Power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, 00:42:55.44\00:43:00.91 for the Jew first, and also for the Greek, 00:43:00.91\00:43:05.55 For in it, the righteousness of God is revealed, from what? 00:43:05.55\00:43:10.89 Faith to faith, as it is written together, 00:43:10.89\00:43:14.62 "The just shall live by faith." 00:43:14.62\00:43:18.03 Just shall live by-- so Paul says, 00:43:18.03\00:43:20.40 "I'm not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ 00:43:20.40\00:43:22.60 because I know what it did for me." 00:43:22.60\00:43:24.07 Now what was Paul's name before Paul? 00:43:24.07\00:43:28.17 Saul. Right, okay. 00:43:28.17\00:43:30.37 This is something that's gonna happen 00:43:30.37\00:43:31.54 when we get to heaven. 00:43:31.54\00:43:32.67 Each of us is gonna have a new name. 00:43:32.67\00:43:34.98 The Lord illustrated that through 00:43:34.98\00:43:36.24 changing Saul's name to Paul. 00:43:36.24\00:43:38.65 He didn't want even the former things. 00:43:38.65\00:43:41.82 You know what's nice about that, 00:43:41.82\00:43:43.95 the Lord not only saves us, 00:43:43.95\00:43:46.35 but He enters us into a witness protection program. 00:43:46.35\00:43:51.39 Who is that? That's Paul. 00:43:51.39\00:43:53.70 Oh, he looked like Saul. Oh, so it's not Saul. 00:43:53.70\00:43:57.33 No, that's Paul. 00:43:57.33\00:43:58.70 Oh, okay because he sure does look like Saul. 00:43:58.70\00:44:01.57 That's not Saul, that's Paul. 00:44:01.57\00:44:03.41 Ain't that wonderful, did you get that? 00:44:03.41\00:44:05.44 That's not Greg-- that's not Mike, that's Greg. 00:44:05.44\00:44:08.31 He surely looks like Mike, no his new name is Greg. 00:44:08.31\00:44:11.75 He is the one married to Jill. 00:44:11.75\00:44:13.15 You mean to Julie. No, that was her former name. 00:44:13.15\00:44:17.45 She's now Jill. That's our local church joke here. 00:44:17.45\00:44:22.12 God not only changes your life, 00:44:22.12\00:44:24.69 but He gives us a new name, hallelujah to that, amen. 00:44:24.69\00:44:27.30 We're all gonna have a new name, 00:44:27.30\00:44:29.36 his name will be written on our foreheads. 00:44:29.36\00:44:31.87 He's gonna have a new name, we're gonna sing a new song. 00:44:31.87\00:44:34.30 He's come to make all things new, 00:44:34.30\00:44:35.87 a new Heaven and a new Earth, a new life. 00:44:35.87\00:44:37.84 But that new life is not just when we get there, 00:44:37.84\00:44:40.14 that new life is, N-O-W. 00:44:40.14\00:44:43.08 That's why the next question is so vitally important, 00:44:43.08\00:44:46.68 so vitally important. 00:44:46.68\00:44:48.68 "What role do we play in the act of Justification?" 00:44:48.68\00:44:51.89 Question number seven. 00:44:51.89\00:44:52.92 "What role do we play in the act of Justification?" 00:44:52.92\00:44:57.73 You know a lot of people say, well, what can I do? 00:44:57.73\00:44:59.76 You know when somebody gives you a gift you say, 00:44:59.76\00:45:01.10 well, what can I do? Accept it. 00:45:01.10\00:45:03.77 Well, is there anything I can do for you? 00:45:03.77\00:45:05.77 And you know sometime the greater the gift 00:45:05.77\00:45:07.24 the more expensive it is we say, 00:45:07.24\00:45:08.60 "Oh, I'm forever indebted to you." Am I right? 00:45:08.60\00:45:12.67 And I'll tell you, if the Lord explains to us, 00:45:12.67\00:45:14.71 how much He paid for us when we get to heaven. 00:45:14.71\00:45:17.01 We're gonna need eternity to pay Him back. 00:45:17.01\00:45:19.25 And still we'll never be able to do that. 00:45:19.25\00:45:21.52 But what role do we play in the act of justification? 00:45:21.52\00:45:24.35 Here it is, Romans 5, verse 6 to 8, 00:45:24.35\00:45:27.92 Romans 5 verse 6 to 8. 00:45:27.92\00:45:30.59 Okay. 00:45:33.56\00:45:34.93 Okay, that's okay. 00:45:37.57\00:45:40.37 Let's just go to Romans 5 verse 6 to 8. 00:45:40.37\00:45:42.97 Okay, that's humanity. 00:45:42.97\00:45:46.47 Thank the Lord for divinity, amen. 00:45:46.47\00:45:49.41 Romans 5 verse 6 to 8. 00:45:49.41\00:45:51.31 So good that those of you're watching 00:45:51.31\00:45:52.75 have the right syllabus. 00:45:52.75\00:45:54.45 Here we go, how completely does-- 00:45:54.45\00:46:01.89 what role do we play in the act of justification? 00:46:05.73\00:46:09.26 Okay Romans 5 verse 6 to 8. Are you ready? Here it is. 00:46:09.26\00:46:12.57 This is, for when we were, what? 00:46:12.57\00:46:15.40 Still without strength, in due time Christ did, what? 00:46:15.40\00:46:21.44 Died for the ungodly. 00:46:21.44\00:46:23.98 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die, 00:46:23.98\00:46:29.12 yet perhaps for a, what? 00:46:29.12\00:46:31.45 Good man someone would even dare to die. 00:46:31.45\00:46:35.56 But get this, this is the part we play. 00:46:35.56\00:46:38.93 But God demonstrates His love towards us, 00:46:38.93\00:46:42.73 in that while we were, what? 00:46:42.73\00:46:45.03 Still or yet sinners, Christ did what? Died for us. 00:46:45.03\00:46:49.37 What part do we play? What part do we play? 00:46:49.37\00:46:53.14 Absolutely none, because who did the dying? 00:46:53.14\00:46:55.88 Jesus. Who did the sinning? We did. 00:46:55.88\00:46:59.35 So notice this, while we were yet, 00:46:59.35\00:47:02.92 while we were still in sin, Christ died for us. 00:47:02.92\00:47:07.36 Now that's amazing because you know sometimes 00:47:07.36\00:47:09.69 if you think about this in the context of a family-- 00:47:09.69\00:47:12.29 have you heard of a will, a will? You've heard that? 00:47:12.29\00:47:15.36 You know last will and testament? 00:47:15.36\00:47:17.30 Well, the last will and testament of Jesus 00:47:17.30\00:47:19.90 was ratified at the cross by His shed blood. 00:47:19.90\00:47:23.97 And it was also passed on from generation to generation 00:47:23.97\00:47:26.74 that will come after Him. 00:47:26.74\00:47:29.28 So let's say somebody is born into your family 00:47:29.28\00:47:31.08 and this is the case in many families. 00:47:31.08\00:47:33.15 Sometimes a person may say, 00:47:33.15\00:47:35.35 "I come from a second generation Christian family," 00:47:35.35\00:47:38.35 second generation Baptist, third generation Adventist, 00:47:38.35\00:47:40.99 second generation Pentecostal. 00:47:40.99\00:47:42.82 It's almost like they're saying that 00:47:42.82\00:47:45.03 righteousness and spirituality can go 00:47:45.03\00:47:46.93 from generations to generations, but it can't. 00:47:46.93\00:47:50.27 As the Bible says I believe is in Ezekiel. 00:47:50.27\00:47:52.40 It says though Daniel, Job and Noah were in it, 00:47:52.40\00:47:55.00 they shall need to save son or daughter 00:47:55.00\00:47:57.51 by their righteousness. 00:47:57.51\00:47:59.27 Everybody has to find that righteousness. 00:47:59.27\00:48:01.61 But here is my point, somebody is born in the family 00:48:01.61\00:48:04.68 and when they get to the age of 18, 00:48:04.68\00:48:07.08 you say to them, did you know 00:48:07.08\00:48:08.62 that you're great grandfather 00:48:08.62\00:48:11.19 put you in his will before you were born? 00:48:11.19\00:48:15.42 He said when my great grandson is born 00:48:15.42\00:48:18.86 and that was before the woman 00:48:18.86\00:48:20.96 who gave him birth even was married, 00:48:20.96\00:48:25.00 that got married by God's grace, had a son, 00:48:25.00\00:48:28.27 and then the will now was in effect. 00:48:28.27\00:48:30.54 "When my great grandson is born, 00:48:30.54\00:48:32.54 when he hits 18, I've laid aside 00:48:32.54\00:48:34.61 ten million dollars for his education." 00:48:34.61\00:48:37.85 So here is this guy born into the family, 00:48:37.85\00:48:40.25 doesn't even know his great grandfather, 00:48:40.25\00:48:42.35 great grandfather died before he was even born. 00:48:42.35\00:48:45.05 But you sit him down and say, 00:48:45.05\00:48:46.69 today is your 18th birthday, 00:48:46.69\00:48:47.82 I've been waiting for this day to tell you something. 00:48:47.82\00:48:50.39 And he says, mom, I need $50 to go to mall. 00:48:50.39\00:48:52.13 She says, just relax I need to tell you something. 00:48:52.13\00:48:55.53 But mom the mall is gonna closed. 00:48:55.53\00:48:56.97 Relax, I need to tell you something. 00:48:56.97\00:49:01.04 But I need $50. Relax, I need to tell you something. 00:49:01.04\00:49:06.44 Your great grandfather whatever name is, 00:49:06.44\00:49:10.68 the first had your name in his will 00:49:10.68\00:49:13.92 under simply the title grandson. 00:49:13.92\00:49:16.95 And he put aside some money for you 00:49:16.95\00:49:18.89 that when and if you're born, 00:49:18.89\00:49:22.36 this money will be yours when you hit 18. 00:49:22.36\00:49:24.89 Mom, is it $50? No, son, it's 10 million. 00:49:24.89\00:49:31.67 Do you think he is concerned about 00:49:31.67\00:49:32.97 whether or not the mall is gonna close? 00:49:32.97\00:49:35.54 Absolutely not. He says, mall is gonna close, 00:49:35.54\00:49:37.77 I'll buy me a mall, I'll build me a mall. 00:49:37.77\00:49:42.34 Mom, are you serious? Mom, are you serious? 00:49:42.34\00:49:44.65 Let me show you the will. 00:49:46.78\00:49:48.85 Brothers and sisters, here's the will of God. 00:49:48.85\00:49:51.95 It's ratified, it's written down, 00:49:51.95\00:49:54.72 and if you don't believe it, for God's soul of the world, 00:49:54.72\00:49:58.06 here's the will that He gave his, what? 00:49:58.06\00:49:59.86 Only begotten son that whosoever 00:49:59.86\00:50:02.73 believeth in Him, what? 00:50:02.73\00:50:04.37 Should not perish, but have what? Everlasting life. 00:50:04.37\00:50:07.74 Ten million dollars is nothing 00:50:07.74\00:50:10.17 when you compare that to eternity. 00:50:10.17\00:50:11.91 I'm discovering nowadays you can spend 00:50:11.91\00:50:13.54 10 million dollars, but with all that money you have, 00:50:13.54\00:50:16.58 you cannot buy eternity because it's not for sale. 00:50:16.58\00:50:19.78 It's a free gift. But look at the next question. 00:50:19.78\00:50:23.75 Question number eight, Question number eight. 00:50:23.75\00:50:27.06 "Speaking of Jesus, how does Paul describe 00:50:27.06\00:50:31.19 the provisions of Justification?" 00:50:31.19\00:50:34.56 How does Paul describe 00:50:34.56\00:50:36.36 the provisions of Justification? 00:50:36.36\00:50:39.33 Romans Chapter 3, verse 25 and 26. 00:50:39.33\00:50:42.97 Romans Chapter 3, verse 25 and 26. 00:50:42.97\00:50:47.64 How does he describe the provisions of Justification? 00:50:47.64\00:50:51.58 Here's what the Bible says, 00:50:51.58\00:50:55.02 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, 00:50:55.02\00:51:01.66 through faith, to do what? 00:51:01.66\00:51:04.59 To demonstrate His righteousness, 00:51:04.59\00:51:07.03 because in His forbearance 00:51:07.03\00:51:10.63 God had passed over the sins 00:51:10.63\00:51:13.03 that were and get this previously committed. 00:51:13.03\00:51:17.91 To demonstrate at the present time, His what? 00:51:17.91\00:51:21.28 His righteousness that He might be just 00:51:21.28\00:51:25.25 and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. 00:51:25.25\00:51:30.32 That's a whole lot, isn't it? 00:51:30.32\00:51:32.55 But I want to break this down by simply saying this. 00:51:32.55\00:51:35.99 Reading the question again, "Speaking of Jesus, 00:51:35.99\00:51:38.39 how does Paul describe the provisions of Justification? 00:51:38.39\00:51:43.26 Jesus provides for sins that were previously, 00:51:43.26\00:51:47.64 come on let's say this together. 00:51:47.64\00:51:48.94 What's the word? Previously committed. 00:51:48.94\00:51:52.34 He not only makes provision for that, 00:51:52.34\00:51:55.31 but He's also the justifier, 00:51:55.31\00:51:57.41 He's just and he's also the justifier. 00:51:57.41\00:52:00.05 What I want you to write down 00:52:00.05\00:52:01.98 and this is what I want you to write down. 00:52:01.98\00:52:03.42 Write down, He is just and He is the justifier. 00:52:03.42\00:52:08.12 This is gonna open up really wonderful 00:52:08.12\00:52:10.39 like an artichoke right here. 00:52:10.39\00:52:12.59 We may not get all of it tonight, 00:52:12.59\00:52:13.90 but this is gonna open up amazingly. 00:52:13.90\00:52:15.73 Because when you think about, 00:52:15.73\00:52:17.07 let me put the context together. 00:52:17.07\00:52:19.30 When a person is in court and they have been accused 00:52:19.30\00:52:23.37 of committing a crime, until they admit 00:52:23.37\00:52:27.04 that they are guilty, they don't need mercy. 00:52:27.04\00:52:33.45 Do you follow me? 00:52:33.45\00:52:35.85 If they are not proven guilty, they don't think about mercy. 00:52:35.85\00:52:41.99 So lot of people today 00:52:41.99\00:52:44.06 although they are caught in the crime, how do you plead? 00:52:44.06\00:52:47.10 What do they often say? Not guilty. 00:52:47.10\00:52:50.07 When they plead not guilty, 00:52:50.07\00:52:51.87 you know what they want, they want justice. 00:52:51.87\00:52:54.07 If they are not guilty, justice demands 00:52:54.07\00:52:55.80 that they are what? Set free. 00:52:55.80\00:52:58.37 But when they are proven guilty, 00:52:58.37\00:53:00.41 has the jury reached the verdict, 00:53:00.41\00:53:04.51 all the angels that haven't look down on our record 00:53:04.51\00:53:06.45 and they say, as to the crime 00:53:06.45\00:53:09.85 and the first entitlement in the books of Heaven. 00:53:09.85\00:53:13.86 Sorry, Yannick. Yannick is declared guilty. 00:53:13.86\00:53:16.49 As to account number two in the provision 00:53:18.83\00:53:21.13 of the heavenly record, Yannick is declared guilty. 00:53:21.13\00:53:26.84 And he stands there completely flabbergasted 00:53:26.84\00:53:29.67 as to what I'm gonna do. 00:53:29.67\00:53:31.94 How am I gonna make my way through this. 00:53:31.94\00:53:33.81 I'm ending this program with a cliffhanger 00:53:33.81\00:53:35.41 because you have to comeback to find out 00:53:35.41\00:53:37.91 how Yannick is gonna be set free? 00:53:37.91\00:53:39.88 Until next week he's gonna be in the sad mode 00:53:39.88\00:53:42.75 because he knows, by the way everyone of us knows 00:53:42.75\00:53:46.09 that when the records are read 00:53:46.09\00:53:47.32 and when our records are read, 00:53:47.32\00:53:48.89 we're all guilty, what do you say? 00:53:48.89\00:53:50.49 Amen. Every one of us is. 00:53:50.49\00:53:51.49 But how does God remain just 00:53:51.49\00:53:54.50 a person who upholds his law 00:53:54.50\00:53:56.46 and sets the guilty free at the same time. 00:53:56.46\00:53:58.73 That's powerful thing to do. Amen. 00:53:58.73\00:54:01.07 Look at Romans Chapter 3, verse 21. 00:54:01.07\00:54:02.97 Question number nine. 00:54:02.97\00:54:04.07 I think this may be our last question for the night 00:54:04.07\00:54:06.31 because the other one goes to specific phases. 00:54:06.31\00:54:09.34 "How can Jesus be 'Just' 00:54:09.34\00:54:13.25 and the 'Justifier' at the same time?" 00:54:13.25\00:54:17.92 Because what's that doing is that puts Jesus 00:54:17.92\00:54:21.09 in the seat of the judge which He is, also in the seat 00:54:21.09\00:54:24.33 at the defense attorney, 00:54:24.33\00:54:27.03 because the defense attorney wants to do what? 00:54:27.03\00:54:28.86 Set you free. The judge wants to what? 00:54:28.86\00:54:31.50 The judge wants to do what? 00:54:31.50\00:54:33.57 Come on, tell me, the judge wants to do what? 00:54:33.57\00:54:36.67 The only role of the judge is to follow the law. 00:54:36.67\00:54:41.98 Because sometimes you can say the judge wants 00:54:41.98\00:54:43.45 to condemn you, the reason I ask that question 00:54:43.45\00:54:44.95 is because sometimes when you say, "Oh, great judge." 00:54:44.95\00:54:48.98 We think of him as wanting to condemn us. 00:54:48.98\00:54:50.75 His only role is to make sure and do everything 00:54:50.75\00:54:53.82 in harmony with the law. 00:54:53.82\00:54:55.76 That's why when people say 00:54:55.76\00:54:57.39 that the law of God is done away with. 00:54:57.39\00:54:59.39 You cannot have mercy, you cannot have justification, 00:54:59.39\00:55:03.26 you can't even be saved if there is no law. 00:55:03.26\00:55:07.24 Because if there is no law, there is no sin, 00:55:07.24\00:55:09.90 from what do you need salvation? 00:55:09.90\00:55:12.17 So when a church teaches that God's law has been 00:55:12.17\00:55:14.34 nailed to the cross, you need to leave that church 00:55:14.34\00:55:16.21 because you are lost. 00:55:16.21\00:55:18.48 Because they're preaching 00:55:18.48\00:55:19.95 a message that has nothing behind it. 00:55:19.95\00:55:23.22 It's not even a balloon with air in it. 00:55:25.25\00:55:28.69 But how can Jesus be just and justifier at the same time. 00:55:28.69\00:55:31.73 Romans 3, verse 21 to 22. 00:55:31.73\00:55:35.50 But now the righteousness of God, 00:55:35.50\00:55:39.57 what's the next word? 00:55:39.57\00:55:41.00 Apart from the law is revealed, 00:55:41.00\00:55:44.07 being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 00:55:44.07\00:55:48.48 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ 00:55:48.48\00:55:55.08 together to all and on all, who do what? 00:55:55.08\00:55:59.82 Believe. For there is what? No difference. 00:55:59.82\00:56:03.63 Now let me break that down because some people say, 00:56:03.63\00:56:05.46 "Uh, what did that mean?" 00:56:05.46\00:56:07.93 What did that in fact mean? 00:56:07.93\00:56:10.57 He is not only, you see the righteousness 00:56:10.57\00:56:13.17 that He is talking about that's apart from the law. 00:56:13.17\00:56:17.27 When the ceremonial law was carried out 00:56:17.27\00:56:20.24 throughout the ages before Christ came in 00:56:20.24\00:56:22.08 and became the Lamb of God. 00:56:22.08\00:56:24.28 You read the Book of Hebrew's Chapter 8, 00:56:24.28\00:56:26.85 Hebrew's Chapter 9, Hebrew's Chapter 10. 00:56:26.85\00:56:28.68 And the Bible says, 00:56:28.68\00:56:30.55 "Sacrifice and offering, I would not." 00:56:30.55\00:56:35.16 The blood of bulls and goats can never take away sin." 00:56:35.16\00:56:38.66 But that is what was witnessed by the law 00:56:38.66\00:56:41.93 and the prophets, they saw that. 00:56:41.93\00:56:44.77 But now Jesus says 00:56:44.77\00:56:47.07 my righteousness is apart from that. 00:56:47.07\00:56:50.24 Meaning that does not dictate my righteousness. 00:56:50.24\00:56:54.24 We are dictated by the faith that is in Christ Jesus. 00:56:54.24\00:56:57.75 So continue to tune in because we'll go back 00:56:57.75\00:57:00.38 and show you a Sharper Focus in the future. 00:57:00.38\00:57:02.55 God bless you. 00:57:02.55\00:57:03.89 Oh, I have a minute left, we'll praise the Lord. 00:57:08.72\00:57:11.56 I thought I had no time left. 00:57:11.56\00:57:13.33 I have justification. 00:57:13.33\00:57:16.77 Let me make myself very, very clear. 00:57:16.77\00:57:19.87 Jesus saves us apart from the commandments, 00:57:19.87\00:57:25.57 He saves us apart from the ceremonial law, 00:57:25.57\00:57:29.91 He justifies us, and He remains 00:57:29.91\00:57:33.88 just at the same time. 00:57:33.88\00:57:35.98 I want you to think about next week, 00:57:35.98\00:57:38.05 think about that because somebody may be saying. 00:57:38.05\00:57:40.42 Wait a minute. 00:57:40.42\00:57:41.69 Are you saying, Pastor John, that we don't need 00:57:41.69\00:57:45.73 to keep the commandments to be saved? 00:57:45.73\00:57:47.30 That's not what I'm saying. 00:57:47.30\00:57:49.06 The commandments remain firm, 00:57:49.06\00:57:51.47 the righteousness of Christ remains firm. 00:57:51.47\00:57:54.47 He is the justifier and He is also just. 00:57:54.47\00:57:56.81 May God bless you, until we see you next week. 00:57:56.81\00:58:00.54
