Amen. Amen. 00:02:54.34\00:02:57.56 Now we're gonna to do something 00:02:57.57\00:02:58.59 a little differently tonight 00:02:58.60\00:02:59.60 because people have requested that 00:02:59.61\00:03:00.98 and I think it would be a good thing. 00:03:00.99\00:03:02.55 We're gonna begin tonight with a song, 00:03:02.56\00:03:04.37 the words may not appear on your screen, 00:03:04.38\00:03:06.99 but our local audience is gonna sing a song, 00:03:07.00\00:03:09.29 "Seek ye first the kingdom of God 00:03:09.30\00:03:11.96 and His righteousness and all these things 00:03:11.97\00:03:14.66 will be added to you." 00:03:14.67\00:03:15.85 If it's familiar with you, you can sing along with us. 00:03:15.86\00:03:18.10 Let's sing that song together tonight. 00:03:18.11\00:03:20.07 Seek ye first the kingdom of God 00:03:26.97\00:03:34.13 And His righteousness 00:03:34.14\00:03:41.21 And all these things shall be added unto you 00:03:41.22\00:03:46.97 And we say, Hallelu, Hallelujah 00:03:46.98\00:03:54.92 Ask and it shall be given unto you 00:03:54.93\00:04:02.30 Seek and ye shall find 00:04:02.31\00:04:09.44 Knock and the door shall be opened unto you 00:04:09.45\00:04:15.71 We sing, Hallelu, Hallelujah 00:04:15.72\00:04:23.39 Seek ye first the kingdom of God 00:04:23.40\00:04:30.56 And His righteousness 00:04:30.57\00:04:37.68 And all these things shall be added unto you 00:04:37.69\00:04:44.70 Hallelu, Hallelujah 00:04:44.71\00:04:51.78 Hallelu, Hallelujah. 00:04:51.79\00:05:03.60 Ain't that wonderful? Amen. Amen. 00:05:03.61\00:05:05.51 You know that's actually Mathew Chapter 6 and verse 33, 00:05:05.52\00:05:09.43 which in fact says, 00:05:09.44\00:05:10.51 "Seek ye first the kingdom of God 00:05:10.52\00:05:12.73 and His righteousness 00:05:12.74\00:05:15.45 and all these things shall be added unto you." 00:05:15.46\00:05:18.56 And so often people, even sometimes Christians, 00:05:18.57\00:05:22.00 they seek all the things first. 00:05:22.01\00:05:23.94 But the whole focus of our study from week to week 00:05:23.95\00:05:25.95 is to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness 00:05:25.96\00:05:30.07 and whatever you need will be added to you. 00:05:30.08\00:05:33.52 Tonight, we're gonna be talking 00:05:33.53\00:05:34.60 about the topic of justification, 00:05:34.61\00:05:38.01 the power of justification. 00:05:38.02\00:05:41.57 Now for those of you who are following along, 00:05:41.58\00:05:43.57 somebody may ask the question, 00:05:43.58\00:05:45.30 "Hey, but what about question number 24 00:05:45.31\00:05:49.34 in lesson number one? 00:05:49.35\00:05:51.49 What about question 24 in the lesson 00:05:51.50\00:05:54.04 about Victorious Living?" 00:05:54.05\00:05:56.20 And that question I'll just mention it to you, 00:05:56.21\00:05:58.31 if you want to fill that in, the question was, 00:05:58.32\00:06:00.45 how can we define the act of justification? 00:06:00.46\00:06:04.76 How can we define the act of justification? 00:06:04.77\00:06:07.45 And if you have the syllabus, 00:06:07.46\00:06:08.46 you'll notice that the three words or the four words, 00:06:08.47\00:06:11.34 "We are saved by" and then there are two blank spaces. 00:06:11.35\00:06:16.46 "We are saved by" and let me give you the answer, 00:06:16.47\00:06:19.35 we are saved by Christ's work. 00:06:19.36\00:06:24.38 We are saved by Christ's work. Amen. 00:06:24.39\00:06:28.92 Not by our work. 00:06:28.93\00:06:31.15 Because the Bible says, 00:06:31.16\00:06:32.16 "We are saved by grace through faith, 00:06:32.17\00:06:34.16 and that not of ourselves is the gift of God, 00:06:34.17\00:06:36.62 not of works lest anyone should boast." 00:06:36.63\00:06:39.43 We are saved by Christ's work. 00:06:39.44\00:06:43.45 And tonight, we're gonna be talking about 00:06:43.46\00:06:45.46 what that work is and how that work can be applied 00:06:45.47\00:06:49.69 to our lives in a wonderful way? 00:06:49.70\00:06:51.81 So if you have lesson number two, which is entitled, 00:06:51.82\00:06:54.60 "The Process of Justification," 00:06:54.61\00:06:56.56 and you should have that in your hand. 00:06:56.57\00:06:59.48 We'll follow along tonight. 00:06:59.49\00:07:01.19 How many of you have heard the phrase, 00:07:01.20\00:07:03.27 a fight to the death? 00:07:03.28\00:07:04.74 Have you heard that before? 00:07:04.75\00:07:06.01 You know when you hear that phrase, 00:07:06.02\00:07:07.06 sometimes you think about two gladiators 00:07:07.07\00:07:09.33 or two sword fighters or two people in a ring. 00:07:09.34\00:07:12.91 In modern times, you know, we don't watch things 00:07:12.92\00:07:16.30 that people fight to the death. 00:07:16.31\00:07:18.36 In most cases, those are fictional shows 00:07:18.37\00:07:22.16 where they show gladiators, 00:07:22.17\00:07:24.31 but you can envision how must've been in Roman times 00:07:24.32\00:07:27.83 where the gladiator would enter the ring 00:07:27.84\00:07:29.60 and they would fight and the only one 00:07:29.61\00:07:30.91 that came out is the one that lived. 00:07:30.92\00:07:33.48 But when you think about the Christian life, 00:07:33.49\00:07:37.18 there is a fight to the death. 00:07:37.19\00:07:39.80 You see everyone wants to-- let me use the phrase, 00:07:42.07\00:07:45.38 everyone loosely, those who wanted to be baptized 00:07:45.39\00:07:48.45 often think of baptism as entering into fellowship, 00:07:48.46\00:07:52.62 joining a church, having their membership added to the role. 00:07:52.63\00:07:57.26 But I'm gonna begin tonight with a scripture 00:07:57.27\00:07:58.82 that's not on our syllabus 00:07:58.83\00:08:00.56 and I want you to see how important it is 00:08:00.57\00:08:03.04 to understand that to first and into this righteous life, 00:08:03.05\00:08:07.44 there is a fight to the death. 00:08:07.45\00:08:10.61 There are two people that are battling each other, 00:08:10.62\00:08:13.40 but I want to thank the Lord tonight that 00:08:13.41\00:08:14.69 Jesus has already won. 00:08:14.70\00:08:15.87 Can you say amen to that? Amen. 00:08:15.88\00:08:17.50 So this, but this battle-- this fight that takes place 00:08:17.51\00:08:20.20 is not just the battle that Jesus won on the cross, 00:08:20.21\00:08:23.06 but this is a battle in us. 00:08:23.07\00:08:25.19 And this battle is not a one time battle. 00:08:25.20\00:08:27.17 This battle happens how often? How do you think? 00:08:27.18\00:08:29.92 Everyday, all day long. Everyday, all day long. 00:08:29.93\00:08:34.76 Those of us who know how difficult it is, 00:08:34.77\00:08:36.26 they say everyday, all day long battle. 00:08:36.27\00:08:38.05 But I'm gonna show you in the Bible. 00:08:38.06\00:08:39.25 Go with me to Romans Chapter 6. 00:08:39.26\00:08:41.43 Romans Chapter 6, we're gonna see this, 00:08:41.44\00:08:43.42 "Fight to the death." 00:08:43.43\00:08:44.82 And by the way when you think about the fight to the death, 00:08:44.83\00:08:47.30 you don't think about it this way, 00:08:47.31\00:08:49.92 the man that lives in the gladiator's fight 00:08:49.93\00:08:53.29 is the man that leaves the ring. 00:08:53.30\00:08:54.94 Ain't that right? 00:08:54.95\00:08:57.02 But in the Christian life, the man that dies 00:08:57.03\00:09:01.44 is the man that walks away free. 00:09:01.45\00:09:03.85 You follow this very carefully. 00:09:03.86\00:09:05.07 It's an amazing dichotomy, how it's different, 00:09:05.08\00:09:08.23 because the spiritual world and the natural world 00:09:08.24\00:09:10.48 are really opposite to each other. 00:09:10.49\00:09:12.35 Romans Chapter 6. 00:09:12.36\00:09:13.63 Look with me to verse 1 and 2 to start. 00:09:13.64\00:09:15.87 Romans 6, verse 1 and verse 2. 00:09:15.88\00:09:19.74 And Paul, as he often does-- 00:09:19.75\00:09:21.74 you know what I like about Paul's writings, 00:09:21.75\00:09:23.12 sometimes he asks questions as though the people 00:09:23.13\00:09:25.88 he is talking to should already know the answer. 00:09:25.89\00:09:27.88 He says, "what?" 00:09:27.89\00:09:29.12 And if you read that in Greek, 00:09:29.13\00:09:30.13 he's like, he's surprised, "what." 00:09:30.14\00:09:33.54 He is looking at Christians who should be going 00:09:33.55\00:09:35.28 in a different direction, 00:09:35.29\00:09:36.30 so he begins with the phrase or the word, 00:09:36.31\00:09:38.05 "what" and that's what he says, "what?" 00:09:38.06\00:09:41.66 What shall we say then? 00:09:41.67\00:09:43.63 Shall we continue in sin that what may abound? 00:09:43.64\00:09:47.50 That grace may abound and he answers 00:09:47.51\00:09:51.05 emphatically "together" certainly not. 00:09:51.06\00:09:55.68 How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? 00:09:55.69\00:10:01.89 How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?" 00:10:01.90\00:10:06.07 Now when you think about dying, 00:10:06.08\00:10:07.71 you don't think about living after that. 00:10:07.72\00:10:09.71 At least the gladiator who died does not walk home. 00:10:09.72\00:10:13.82 The one who won is the one that walks home. 00:10:13.83\00:10:16.96 There's a battle that Paul outlines 00:10:16.97\00:10:18.85 here in Romans Chapter 6. 00:10:18.86\00:10:20.32 And he talks about this old man that wants to fight. 00:10:20.33\00:10:23.85 But the fight does not begin until the person 00:10:23.86\00:10:27.53 who is captured by this old man 00:10:27.54\00:10:29.01 desires to be set free. 00:10:29.02\00:10:31.83 Until there is a desire to be set free, 00:10:31.84\00:10:34.36 until there is a desire to be released from the bondage 00:10:34.37\00:10:37.67 or the chain that holds you, there is really no battle. 00:10:37.68\00:10:41.29 Let me make it even clearer. 00:10:41.30\00:10:43.02 There is no battle for people 00:10:43.03\00:10:44.93 that are living just for the world. 00:10:44.94\00:10:47.31 There is no battle. 00:10:47.32\00:10:48.58 They get up, they live for the world. 00:10:48.59\00:10:50.58 They have "fun" as they say it. 00:10:50.59\00:10:52.48 There's no struggle. 00:10:52.49\00:10:54.46 They drink like the world, they speak like the world, 00:10:54.47\00:10:58.69 they entertain like the world, they do everything. 00:10:58.70\00:11:00.84 And one of the reasons why Christians are so often shock 00:11:00.85\00:11:03.88 and we say, how can they do that? 00:11:03.89\00:11:06.21 How could anybody do that? 00:11:06.22\00:11:08.22 They are completely not even desiring to be set free. 00:11:08.23\00:11:11.99 They are completely under control by that old nature, 00:11:12.00\00:11:15.07 that nature that they got from Adam. 00:11:15.08\00:11:16.85 And Paul talks about that nature 00:11:16.86\00:11:18.12 in Romans Chapter 6 as the "old man." 00:11:18.13\00:11:21.77 But now let's go to verse 7, because Paul introduces, 00:11:21.78\00:11:25.72 "How could we leave that way if we've died 00:11:25.73\00:11:27.94 to what was formally behind us?" 00:11:27.95\00:11:29.89 He says in Romans Chapter 7-- 00:11:29.90\00:11:31.42 Romans Chapter 6 and verse 7, all right? 00:11:31.43\00:11:35.67 For he who has, what's the next word? Died. 00:11:35.68\00:11:39.01 "For He who has died has been freed from sin." 00:11:39.02\00:11:43.81 You know another way to say that and sometimes 00:11:43.82\00:11:46.72 you don't get this, but I want to give you a word 00:11:46.73\00:11:48.21 to really give you something to rejoice about, 00:11:48.22\00:11:50.61 "He who has died has been cleared from sin." 00:11:50.62\00:11:57.40 So in other words, if you look at your record, 00:11:57.41\00:11:59.30 let's just say you gave your life to the Lord 00:11:59.31\00:12:01.04 when you're 25 years old. 00:12:01.05\00:12:03.33 Those 25 years behind you are years 00:12:03.34\00:12:07.00 filled with sin and transgression 00:12:07.01\00:12:09.79 and temptation and all the things you've done wrong. 00:12:09.80\00:12:12.63 And so when you come to the point 00:12:12.64\00:12:14.03 where you enter into that relationship with Christ, 00:12:14.04\00:12:16.46 you accept Him as your Lord and savior. 00:12:16.47\00:12:18.29 Then you go down to the watery grave of baptism, 00:12:18.30\00:12:22.74 that's the burial, that signifying the death. 00:12:22.75\00:12:26.03 When you come up, you come up cleared of all the things 00:12:26.04\00:12:29.22 you've done before. Amen. Amen. 00:12:29.23\00:12:31.76 You come up completely cleared. 00:12:31.77\00:12:34.28 And I don't know of anybody who has ever been in debt 00:12:34.29\00:12:37.13 would like to be cleared of debt. 00:12:37.14\00:12:38.88 Everybody who has something that they owe 00:12:41.23\00:12:43.58 would like to be cleared of that thing that they owe. 00:12:43.59\00:12:46.43 But when you look at 25 years of sin or 30 years 00:12:46.44\00:12:50.42 or 40 years or 15 years or however long it's been, 00:12:50.43\00:12:53.36 there is no possible way for you 00:12:53.37\00:12:55.17 to be able to clear your own record. 00:12:55.18\00:12:58.13 Let me use this illustration, 00:12:58.14\00:12:59.31 there is no way to clean 00:12:59.32\00:13:03.44 a dirty window with a dirty rag. 00:13:03.45\00:13:06.90 Because our righteousness is as, what? Filthy rags. 00:13:06.91\00:13:11.57 There's no way to wipe oil off the car 00:13:11.58\00:13:14.60 if the rag has nothing but oil on it. 00:13:14.61\00:13:17.65 So we're stained by sin. 00:13:17.66\00:13:20.54 So when you come to Christ and He accepts you 00:13:20.55\00:13:22.58 and He starts clearing your life 00:13:22.59\00:13:24.80 that will give you a reason to rejoice 00:13:24.81\00:13:27.12 because you are not only freed from the power of sin, 00:13:27.13\00:13:31.39 but you're cleared from all of the stains of sin, amen. 00:13:31.40\00:13:35.45 But let's go on because verse 11 contributes to this 00:13:35.46\00:13:38.24 and I'm jumping around because 00:13:38.25\00:13:39.65 that's not the main focus tonight. 00:13:39.66\00:13:41.95 But you know what, I need to just go ahead 00:13:41.96\00:13:43.91 and add a few more verses before verse 11. 00:13:43.92\00:13:45.77 Go to verse 8, Roman 6, verse 8, 00:13:45.78\00:13:49.78 because this is added also to the topic of death. 00:13:49.79\00:13:52.25 Now if we died, how? With Christ. 00:13:52.26\00:13:55.68 We believe that we shall also, how? Lived with Him. 00:13:55.69\00:13:59.06 That living with Him is not just talking 00:13:59.07\00:14:00.45 about the kingdom to come. 00:14:00.46\00:14:02.32 That living with Him is talking about, when? 00:14:02.33\00:14:04.52 Now, right now. 00:14:04.53\00:14:07.75 And then verse 9, Knowing that Christ 00:14:07.76\00:14:11.96 having been raised from the dead dies no more, 00:14:11.97\00:14:16.90 death no longer has dominion, over who? 00:14:16.91\00:14:20.26 Over Him, for the death that He died, 00:14:20.27\00:14:23.72 He died to sin once, for how many of us? For all. 00:14:23.73\00:14:27.89 But the life that He lives, He lives to God. 00:14:27.90\00:14:30.69 In the very same way when we die to sin, 00:14:30.70\00:14:33.99 the life we live is the life we live to God. 00:14:34.00\00:14:37.67 And we can live a righteous life to God 00:14:37.68\00:14:40.80 on our own because we still have something that's mortal. 00:14:40.81\00:14:45.21 We still have a dirty rag to deal with everyday. 00:14:45.22\00:14:47.95 But let's go on to verse 11, here is the one. 00:14:47.96\00:14:50.47 And this is by faith, this is strictly by faith, 00:14:50.48\00:14:53.87 but also by accepting what Christ has done. 00:14:53.88\00:14:56.20 Likewise you also, what is the very next word? 00:14:56.21\00:14:59.64 Reckon or consider yourselves to be what? 00:14:59.65\00:15:03.11 Dead indeed to sin, but alive to God, how? 00:15:03.12\00:15:08.82 In or through Christ, Jesus our Lord. 00:15:08.83\00:15:13.13 We cannot live through anybody else. 00:15:13.14\00:15:15.10 As a matter of fact let me just emphasize this further. 00:15:15.11\00:15:18.44 If you go to a funeral 00:15:18.45\00:15:19.89 and I think each one of us has. 00:15:22.28\00:15:24.57 If you go to a funeral, 00:15:24.58\00:15:28.04 does not follow you home, right? 00:15:28.05\00:15:32.17 Aren't you glad? 00:15:32.18\00:15:34.07 But when we go to the cross, 00:15:34.08\00:15:37.01 who you are prior to that 00:15:38.67\00:15:41.23 doesn't follow you home either, why? 00:15:41.24\00:15:47.66 Galatians 2:20. Let me repeat it. 00:15:47.67\00:15:50.92 I have been crucified with Christ 00:15:50.93\00:15:54.78 nevertheless I live, but who? 00:15:54.79\00:15:59.39 Yet it is no longer I who live, but what? 00:15:59.40\00:16:03.51 Christ who lives in me 00:16:03.52\00:16:05.73 in the life I now live in the flesh, 00:16:05.74\00:16:08.75 I live by faith in the son of God 00:16:08.76\00:16:10.46 who loved me and did what? 00:16:10.47\00:16:11.93 Gave himself for me. So here's the point. 00:16:11.94\00:16:15.61 We need a spiritual respirator 00:16:15.62\00:16:18.05 after we give our lives to Christ 00:16:18.06\00:16:20.25 because that body of sin has been done away with 00:16:20.26\00:16:23.32 that man of sin has been killed. 00:16:23.33\00:16:26.27 He is not out of existence yet. 00:16:26.28\00:16:28.03 We're gonna talk about that 00:16:28.04\00:16:29.07 under the topic of sanctification. 00:16:29.08\00:16:31.46 He's not out of existence yet. 00:16:31.47\00:16:33.72 So we have to maintain a day by day 00:16:33.73\00:16:36.33 relationship to keep him dead. 00:16:36.34\00:16:38.15 So let's go ahead and go to question number one now, 00:16:38.16\00:16:40.37 very vitally important to lay that foundation. 00:16:40.38\00:16:42.55 When we're in Christ, all the old things have passed away, 00:16:42.56\00:16:46.70 behold all things are become new. 00:16:46.71\00:16:48.74 That is second Corinthians 5 and verse 17. 00:16:48.75\00:16:52.37 But now let's look at question number one. 00:16:52.38\00:16:55.37 Question number one. Here it is. 00:16:55.38\00:16:57.32 "What does the Bible reveal that informs us 00:16:57.33\00:17:00.01 that we need deliverance?" 00:17:00.02\00:17:03.70 "What does the Bible reveal 00:17:03.71\00:17:04.87 that informs us that we need deliverance?" 00:17:04.88\00:17:07.12 Romans 3 verse 23. If you are theological, 00:17:07.13\00:17:11.08 you know the answer already. 00:17:11.09\00:17:12.88 All right, are you ready? Here we go. 00:17:12.89\00:17:15.23 "For all have sinned and fall 00:17:15.24\00:17:20.25 short of the glory of God." 00:17:20.26\00:17:23.61 I used to have fun with the long jump 00:17:23.62\00:17:25.37 when I was in track and field in high school. 00:17:25.38\00:17:28.64 Do you know what the long jump is? 00:17:28.65\00:17:30.44 It's a sandbox, at least soft dirt. 00:17:30.45\00:17:34.31 Sometimes when we used to do the long jump 00:17:34.32\00:17:36.18 on cold days that was hard dirt. 00:17:36.19\00:17:38.95 But it's a sandbox, a very, very soft dirt 00:17:38.96\00:17:41.88 and what you try to do is you try to jump 00:17:41.89\00:17:43.70 as far as you could 00:17:43.71\00:17:46.06 to compete against the jump of the other person. 00:17:46.07\00:17:48.56 And if you're able to clear that sandbox altogether 00:17:50.43\00:17:53.16 not even put a footprint in that sand, 00:17:53.17\00:17:55.30 you're really good, but I have never met anybody. 00:17:55.31\00:17:59.32 I have not met anybody who ever cleared 00:17:59.33\00:18:01.77 that sandbox completely. 00:18:01.78\00:18:03.50 Every one of them fall short. 00:18:03.51\00:18:07.31 In the very same way, 00:18:07.32\00:18:08.50 we can try with all the effort. 00:18:08.51\00:18:09.92 I mean you can run as hard as you can as a Christian. 00:18:09.93\00:18:12.33 You can be running in the Christian life 00:18:12.34\00:18:13.58 with all the energy. 00:18:13.59\00:18:14.58 You can be trying as hard as you could, 00:18:14.59\00:18:16.48 but the bottom line is when you leave your feet 00:18:16.49\00:18:18.30 and try to clear what we call sin, you never clear it. 00:18:18.31\00:18:21.37 You always fall short of the glory of God. 00:18:21.38\00:18:24.49 That's why Jesus, He makes up the gap. 00:18:24.50\00:18:28.37 He closes the gap between a sinner and the savior. Amen. 00:18:28.38\00:18:32.84 How does He do it? 00:18:32.85\00:18:34.08 There's one mediator between God and man 00:18:34.09\00:18:36.90 and that's the man, who? Christ Jesus. 00:18:36.91\00:18:39.23 With this hand, he connects humanity to divinity. 00:18:39.24\00:18:43.13 And with this hand, 00:18:43.14\00:18:44.29 he connects divinity to humanity. 00:18:44.30\00:18:46.64 There's only one mediator. 00:18:46.65\00:18:48.43 There's no other name given among men 00:18:48.44\00:18:49.97 whereby we must be saved than the name of Jesus. 00:18:49.98\00:18:52.99 So he's the one that makes up the difference 00:18:53.00\00:18:55.20 between us falling short or more specifically, 00:18:55.21\00:18:57.26 let me make it very clear because 00:18:57.27\00:18:58.45 I don't want you to think 00:18:58.46\00:18:59.92 that I'm talking about our effort 00:18:59.93\00:19:01.50 plus His little input makes salvation. 00:19:01.51\00:19:05.76 I'm making the point that we have no effort on our part 00:19:05.77\00:19:08.89 that can ever contribute to His righteousness. 00:19:08.90\00:19:12.13 In other words, we could never clear that again. 00:19:12.14\00:19:14.18 We'll always fall short, so, you know, 00:19:14.19\00:19:17.53 there's no need to go out with a measuring stick and say, 00:19:17.54\00:19:19.90 "Uh, I just missed His righteousness by four inches." 00:19:19.91\00:19:24.98 There is no sense to do that because we can never get it. 00:19:24.99\00:19:27.86 You know the gap between earth and heaven. 00:19:27.87\00:19:30.27 I think I like the way that Jesus says to disciples, 00:19:30.28\00:19:32.49 He said, "Where I'm going, you cannot come." 00:19:32.50\00:19:35.65 That's the gap. But he'll come back to get us there. 00:19:35.66\00:19:38.65 So tonight we simply see the reason 00:19:38.66\00:19:41.04 why everyone of us needs deliverance 00:19:41.05\00:19:43.13 is because we have all fallen, how? 00:19:43.14\00:19:45.46 Short of the glory of God. 00:19:45.47\00:19:47.26 But let's go to question number two. 00:19:47.27\00:19:49.05 And we're gonna spend a lot of time 00:19:49.06\00:19:50.74 tonight in Romans Chapter 3 because Romans Chapter 3 00:19:50.75\00:19:53.69 is the chapter that really wonderfully defines 00:19:53.70\00:19:55.89 who we are and who we can be in Christ? 00:19:55.90\00:19:58.78 Romans Chapter 3, let's go to the question first. 00:19:58.79\00:20:02.54 "How does the Bible describe 00:20:02.55\00:20:04.90 the transaction to the pardon sinners?" 00:20:04.91\00:20:07.73 There's a transaction. 00:20:07.74\00:20:10.45 A transaction often includes some kind of monitory-- 00:20:10.46\00:20:16.90 some kind of monitory fund. 00:20:16.91\00:20:18.94 There's always something included in transaction 00:20:18.95\00:20:21.32 that pays for something. 00:20:21.33\00:20:22.98 But here is the answer, Romans 3 and verse 24. 00:20:22.99\00:20:27.47 Look at the transaction. 00:20:27.48\00:20:29.33 "Being justified," let's say the next word together. 00:20:29.34\00:20:33.38 "Freely by His grace through the redemption 00:20:33.39\00:20:38.96 that is in Christ Jesus." 00:20:38.97\00:20:41.64 How are we justified? Freely. 00:20:41.65\00:20:45.11 Now what I want to get this is it. 00:20:45.12\00:20:46.86 Here it is. Just look at that hand again. 00:20:46.87\00:20:48.58 The hand that reaches down from God to man, 00:20:48.59\00:20:51.18 there is no charge for that, 00:20:51.19\00:20:52.66 because the hand that reaches from man to God is expensive. 00:20:52.67\00:20:56.52 We're not redeemed by corruptible things 00:20:57.78\00:20:59.58 like silver and gold, 00:20:59.59\00:21:00.80 but the precious blood of Christ 00:21:00.81\00:21:02.66 as that of a spotless lamb. 00:21:02.67\00:21:04.30 So this arm is the expensive arm, 00:21:04.31\00:21:06.46 but when it reaches down the man 00:21:06.47\00:21:07.58 there's no charge. Amen? Amen. 00:21:07.59\00:21:10.22 He doesn't charge us to connect us to God 00:21:10.23\00:21:12.34 because as the song writer say, 00:21:12.35\00:21:13.99 "Jesus paid it all. All to him I owe." 00:21:14.00\00:21:18.80 So you begin to see the Bible describes 00:21:18.81\00:21:21.06 the transaction to pardon sinners 00:21:21.07\00:21:22.55 as we're justified freely. 00:21:22.56\00:21:25.56 Salvation is free to us. 00:21:25.57\00:21:27.20 The hand that reaches down to connect to man, 00:21:27.21\00:21:29.45 but on this hand that reaches up 00:21:29.46\00:21:30.75 to connect the God it's expensive 00:21:30.76\00:21:32.39 because Jesus gave up everything in heaven. 00:21:32.40\00:21:36.01 How many of us will do that 00:21:36.02\00:21:37.34 for just somebody that we didn't know, 00:21:37.35\00:21:40.48 somebody that wouldn't appreciate it. 00:21:40.49\00:21:42.40 And when you think about how Jesus did that the Bible says, 00:21:42.41\00:21:44.46 in that while we're yet, what? 00:21:44.47\00:21:47.20 Sinners. Christ died for us. 00:21:47.21\00:21:48.70 So he didn't say, well, Mike, when you get it together, 00:21:48.71\00:21:54.67 I'll come down and die for you. 00:21:54.68\00:21:56.84 And then if that was the case, you say, Mike, 00:21:56.85\00:21:59.39 you know, it's not my fault, 00:21:59.40\00:22:00.64 you just never got it together. 00:22:00.65\00:22:02.81 But God's love for us is so great, friends. 00:22:02.82\00:22:04.92 I want to emphasize this. God's love for us is so great. 00:22:04.93\00:22:08.49 He saw us under the bondage of an enemy 00:22:08.50\00:22:13.30 that hated him and that hated us. 00:22:13.31\00:22:16.16 And wanted to do nothing more than torment 00:22:16.17\00:22:18.21 and torture his children and hold them in bondage and fear. 00:22:18.22\00:22:21.55 But I like it when Jesus sets us free, 00:22:21.56\00:22:23.62 The Bible says when He sets us free 00:22:23.63\00:22:25.53 He doesn't even allow 00:22:25.54\00:22:27.44 the spirit of fear to continue. 00:22:27.45\00:22:30.49 For God has not given us 00:22:30.50\00:22:31.72 the spirit of fear but of what? 00:22:31.73\00:22:34.28 Power. What else? Love and what else? A sound mind. 00:22:34.29\00:22:38.45 He takes away not just our record, 00:22:38.46\00:22:40.69 but He clears us, I'm excited. 00:22:40.70\00:22:44.13 He clears us of all the things that held us fearful. Amen. 00:22:44.14\00:22:48.42 Praise be His name. Question number three. 00:22:50.75\00:22:54.00 So if you put the answer for number two, 00:22:54.01\00:22:56.24 the transaction to pardon the sinner justified freely. 00:22:56.25\00:23:00.84 That is to us. Question number-- 00:23:00.85\00:23:03.49 let me read this quotation by the way. 00:23:03.50\00:23:05.65 This is between question two and question three, 00:23:05.66\00:23:09.14 very, very powerful. 00:23:09.15\00:23:10.33 This is from the book, Christ Triumphant. 00:23:10.34\00:23:12.90 Page 150, paragraph 3. 00:23:13.88\00:23:15.66 Follow me carefully, "As penitent sinners, 00:23:15.67\00:23:20.19 contrite before God, 00:23:20.20\00:23:22.23 discern Christ's atonement in their behalf." 00:23:22.24\00:23:25.77 In other words, as they come to grips with it 00:23:25.78\00:23:28.03 and accept this atonement as their only hope 00:23:28.04\00:23:31.74 in this life and the future life, 00:23:31.75\00:23:34.90 their sins are, what? Pardoned. 00:23:34.91\00:23:38.20 This is justification by faith. 00:23:38.21\00:23:42.44 Pardon and justification are one 00:23:42.45\00:23:45.95 and the same thing, amen. 00:23:45.96\00:23:48.00 Pardon and justification are one and the same thing. 00:23:48.01\00:23:52.26 Now I don't-- what I'm going to do tonight 00:23:52.27\00:23:54.90 is I'm going to add some greater context to that 00:23:54.91\00:23:57.93 because you know, sometimes you think 00:23:57.94\00:24:00.06 when we say to somebody, Uh, it's okay, I'm sorry. 00:24:00.07\00:24:02.25 I'm sorry. Okay, you are pardoned. 00:24:02.26\00:24:05.56 It's not the same thing. It's not that simple. 00:24:05.57\00:24:09.09 Because there's an obligation that comes along, 00:24:09.10\00:24:11.53 there's an obligation that comes along 00:24:11.54\00:24:13.16 with our connection to Christ. 00:24:13.17\00:24:14.53 There's a great obligation that comes into that gap 00:24:14.54\00:24:17.41 and allows us to see 00:24:17.42\00:24:18.98 where we are in relationship to where Christ is. 00:24:18.99\00:24:23.12 So pardon is not as simple as, 00:24:23.13\00:24:25.40 "Uh, Hannah, that's okay, don't worry about it." 00:24:25.41\00:24:28.62 It's a great transaction, 00:24:28.63\00:24:30.49 but what this quotation says that excites me is, 00:24:30.50\00:24:34.50 when you sit down and you contemplate 00:24:34.51\00:24:36.28 what Jesus has done for you, 00:24:36.29\00:24:37.91 when you think carefully 00:24:37.92\00:24:39.82 that you could never have done it for yourself, 00:24:39.83\00:24:43.25 when you think about all the glories that revealed, 00:24:43.26\00:24:45.25 all the hope that's revealed, 00:24:45.26\00:24:47.01 all of the heaven that's being prepared for us 00:24:47.02\00:24:49.55 and you think what could I do to get there 00:24:49.56\00:24:51.79 and you come up with a conclusion, 00:24:51.80\00:24:52.86 there is nothing I can do and then someone says, 00:24:52.87\00:24:55.57 "John Dinzey, I'm not only paying for your past, 00:24:55.58\00:24:58.97 I'm giving you power for the present, 00:24:58.98\00:25:00.94 assurance for the future, 00:25:00.95\00:25:02.74 and the promise of eternal life." 00:25:02.75\00:25:04.05 That gives you reason to say hallelujah. Amen. 00:25:04.06\00:25:06.57 He says this world is bad as it is getting. 00:25:07.58\00:25:09.81 It's not your final frontier. 00:25:09.82\00:25:12.22 As they used to say on Star Trek years ago. 00:25:12.23\00:25:14.48 It's not your final home. 00:25:14.49\00:25:15.78 Even Abraham who is a friend of God 00:25:15.79\00:25:17.86 and his works brought him into relationship, 00:25:17.87\00:25:21.10 his works verified that he accepted 00:25:21.11\00:25:23.82 the justification of Christ, 00:25:23.83\00:25:25.83 and because of that he said, wait a minute, 00:25:25.84\00:25:27.71 I'm looking for a city which had foundations 00:25:27.72\00:25:29.95 whose builder and maker is God. 00:25:29.96\00:25:31.28 He realized that what Jesus had done for him. 00:25:31.29\00:25:34.13 What Jesus would do for him 00:25:34.14\00:25:36.04 going and looking to the cross, 00:25:36.05\00:25:37.96 would give him the glory of leaving this world one day. 00:25:37.97\00:25:40.23 But there's another quotation from the very same book, 00:25:40.24\00:25:43.16 I wanna continue to talk about justification. 00:25:43.17\00:25:45.57 Look at the screen. 00:25:45.58\00:25:47.23 Christ Triumphant, page 150, but now paragraph 4. 00:25:47.24\00:25:50.87 It reads as follows. 00:25:50.88\00:25:52.61 "Justification is the opposite of," what? 00:25:52.62\00:25:56.16 Condemnation, if you ever felt condemned, 00:25:56.17\00:25:58.43 you know what that means. 00:25:58.44\00:25:59.58 "God's boundless mercy is exercised toward those 00:25:59.59\00:26:03.83 who are wholly undeserving." 00:26:03.84\00:26:06.06 You don't deserve it. 00:26:07.06\00:26:08.90 "He forgives transgressions 00:26:08.91\00:26:11.15 and sins for the sake of Jesus 00:26:11.16\00:26:15.14 who has become the propitiation for our sins, 00:26:15.15\00:26:20.11 the payment, the substitute. 00:26:20.12\00:26:22.89 Through faith in Christ, 00:26:22.90\00:26:24.70 the guilty transgressor is bought into, what? 00:26:24.71\00:26:28.96 Favor with God and into the strong hope of life eternal." 00:26:28.97\00:26:35.04 Wow. I want to say thank God for that. 00:26:35.05\00:26:38.43 But I want to emphasize something, 00:26:38.44\00:26:40.03 he has brought into the strong hope of life eternal. 00:26:40.04\00:26:43.76 Let me emphasize what that means? 00:26:43.77\00:26:45.86 When God led the children of Israel out of Egypt, 00:26:45.87\00:26:49.55 they were not immediately in the promise land. 00:26:49.56\00:26:51.84 As a matter of fact, you read the Bible you see 00:26:51.85\00:26:53.26 that many of them did not make it. 00:26:53.27\00:26:55.89 He did not require them to do anything 00:26:55.90\00:26:57.90 except his freedom to get them out of Egypt, right? 00:26:57.91\00:27:01.99 Come on out. Matter of fact, even some Egyptians came out. 00:27:02.00\00:27:06.86 So the coming out process was extended to everyone 00:27:06.87\00:27:10.48 who accepted God's deliverance. 00:27:10.49\00:27:13.49 And they had the hope of going in. 00:27:13.50\00:27:16.82 This is very important. 00:27:16.83\00:27:18.35 Because this thought I'm communicating 00:27:18.36\00:27:20.99 debunks the attitude 00:27:21.00\00:27:22.53 or the teaching of once saved, always saved. 00:27:22.54\00:27:24.82 How you live between the exit of Egypt 00:27:26.34\00:27:29.18 and the border of the promise land determined 00:27:29.19\00:27:31.89 whether or not the hope of eternal life 00:27:31.90\00:27:34.14 became the reality of eternal life. 00:27:34.15\00:27:36.93 That's very vitally important 00:27:36.94\00:27:38.44 because a lot of people get baptized. 00:27:38.45\00:27:40.15 And you know what happens? 00:27:40.16\00:27:41.19 After they get baptized, 00:27:41.20\00:27:42.25 they go back to living the way they did before. 00:27:42.26\00:27:44.50 They go back to their old life and doesn't really matter 00:27:44.51\00:27:46.39 because some how maybe they don't believe 00:27:46.40\00:27:48.85 in once saved always saved, 00:27:48.86\00:27:49.93 but somehow they dismissed 00:27:49.94\00:27:51.04 the idea that I just left Egypt. 00:27:51.05\00:27:54.48 There is a journey ahead of me. 00:27:54.49\00:27:55.98 Unfortunately in the case of the Israelites, 00:27:55.99\00:27:57.95 it was much longer than God intended, 00:27:57.96\00:27:59.76 but in our lives, whether it's 15 years or 10 years 00:27:59.77\00:28:02.59 or some people have been Christians 00:28:02.60\00:28:03.76 60 years or 70 or more, 00:28:03.77\00:28:05.85 however long it is, it's a day by day journey. 00:28:05.86\00:28:09.20 It's a humbling reality to know that 00:28:09.21\00:28:10.88 when you wake up everyday, 00:28:10.89\00:28:12.08 you got to take one more step in this journey 00:28:12.09\00:28:14.30 advancing toward the promise land. 00:28:14.31\00:28:16.86 And as the song writers says, 00:28:16.87\00:28:17.93 "We see the gleams of the golden morning." 00:28:17.94\00:28:19.47 We know that one day 00:28:19.48\00:28:20.48 we will enter the promise land. 00:28:20.49\00:28:21.90 But how you lived down here says whether or not 00:28:21.91\00:28:24.91 you accept the great pardoning process and value 00:28:24.92\00:28:31.91 and salvation that comes through being justified. 00:28:31.92\00:28:35.96 You know, for somebody--Larry-- 00:28:35.97\00:28:38.02 I may use Larry as an example. 00:28:38.03\00:28:39.74 Larry is one of the nicest guys we have around here. 00:28:39.75\00:28:43.27 You don't have to ask Larry to do whole lot. 00:28:43.28\00:28:44.69 Larry just gives and gives and gives of himself. 00:28:44.70\00:28:47.29 But one thing Larry can't do is buy salvation. 00:28:49.36\00:28:52.72 So the Lord says to Larry. 00:28:52.73\00:28:54.37 You could look Larry nowadays 00:28:54.38\00:28:55.39 and you'll never think that 00:28:55.40\00:28:56.40 Larry used to be a motorcyclist, 00:28:56.41\00:29:00.10 a wild person, who lived a completely different life 00:29:00.11\00:29:03.75 to what he lives now and you look at his life and say, 00:29:03.76\00:29:05.86 how on earth did you get from where you are 00:29:05.87\00:29:08.12 or where you are today. 00:29:08.13\00:29:09.54 We got to say he went 00:29:09.55\00:29:10.55 to the curtain of God's justification. 00:29:10.56\00:29:13.51 God could not always save you, but he changes you also. 00:29:13.52\00:29:16.50 But if Larry sat down and said, okay, Lord, 00:29:16.51\00:29:18.23 I'm changed the whole. 00:29:18.24\00:29:19.29 Lord, I think I got it from here then all that debt. 00:29:19.30\00:29:23.89 All that debt is piled back on him. 00:29:23.90\00:29:27.08 Then he realizes, wait a minute. 00:29:29.32\00:29:30.79 Why are you giving that back to me? 00:29:30.80\00:29:31.97 He said, because you have said you have it from hereon now. 00:29:31.98\00:29:35.04 Remember the story of the man who owed so much, 00:29:35.05\00:29:38.24 he couldn't pay it. 00:29:38.25\00:29:40.65 And I can't remember all the amounts he owed, 00:29:40.66\00:29:42.64 but if you think about how much he owed. 00:29:42.65\00:29:44.21 He said to the person that he owed, 00:29:44.22\00:29:46.08 he said, just give me some more time 00:29:46.09\00:29:49.45 and I will pay for it. 00:29:49.46\00:29:50.78 But when you go home and do a Bible study 00:29:50.79\00:29:52.73 on that particular sermon, 00:29:52.74\00:29:53.80 I believe this is in the book of Matthew. 00:29:53.81\00:29:55.56 He owed a many, many, many, many thousands of talents. 00:29:55.57\00:29:59.38 Give me some time and I will pay for it. 00:29:59.39\00:30:01.54 I did some research into the story. 00:30:01.55\00:30:03.95 And based on the cost of a talent, 00:30:03.96\00:30:06.29 it would have taken that man 340 years 00:30:06.30\00:30:09.39 to work off that debt. 00:30:09.40\00:30:11.92 Well, you know what? He couldn't live 340 years. 00:30:11.93\00:30:14.39 But that's 340 years if he did nothing 00:30:14.40\00:30:16.72 but just work to pay the debt, 00:30:16.73\00:30:19.22 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. 00:30:19.23\00:30:23.35 He could not afford to pay that debt. 00:30:23.36\00:30:25.57 But what happened in the transaction, 00:30:25.58\00:30:27.44 he was forgiven that debt, amen. 00:30:27.45\00:30:29.40 Amen. That represents us. 00:30:29.41\00:30:31.25 But on the flip side of that 00:30:31.26\00:30:32.34 and the reason I mentioned is here 00:30:32.35\00:30:33.55 because we have to understand 00:30:33.56\00:30:34.96 what God has done for us through Christ, 00:30:34.97\00:30:37.12 we have to be willing to do for others. 00:30:37.13\00:30:40.24 Very important point here. 00:30:40.25\00:30:41.33 So he goes now to a friend who owes him very little 00:30:41.34\00:30:44.41 and he demands a payment. 00:30:45.67\00:30:48.46 Matter of fact, he wants to torment this man 00:30:48.47\00:30:51.21 for what he owes him and the person, the king, 00:30:51.22\00:30:54.47 that just pardoned him hears about it and says, 00:30:54.48\00:30:57.76 Uh, you unworthy, you--what's that word, 00:30:57.77\00:31:02.20 come on give it to me? 00:31:02.21\00:31:04.49 You unthankful person and he gets him 00:31:04.50\00:31:07.29 and he throws him in jail. 00:31:07.30\00:31:09.63 Well, you know what that means? 00:31:09.64\00:31:10.73 If the lord is willing enough to forgive us 00:31:10.74\00:31:13.35 for all that we have done, all that we have done, 00:31:13.36\00:31:15.66 we have to be willing to forgive people 00:31:15.67\00:31:17.65 for the little they have done to us. 00:31:17.66\00:31:19.44 Because we cannot buy our own salvation. 00:31:21.11\00:31:22.99 Look at the next question. 00:31:23.00\00:31:24.09 Question number three. Very important. 00:31:24.10\00:31:27.39 Very important. Question three. 00:31:27.40\00:31:28.96 "How did David the patriarch express 00:31:28.97\00:31:32.36 the joy of justification?" 00:31:32.37\00:31:34.60 I left this for the heels of that story 00:31:34.61\00:31:36.75 because it's very powerful. 00:31:36.76\00:31:38.03 How did he express the joy of justification? 00:31:38.04\00:31:41.24 Psalms 32, verse 1 or Psalm 32 verse 1. 00:31:41.25\00:31:45.36 You know when it's one verse, people say Psalm. 00:31:45.37\00:31:47.20 And when it's many verses, they say Psalms. 00:31:47.21\00:31:49.98 You could settle that argument. 00:31:49.99\00:31:51.61 I kind of go Psalm or Psalms depending. 00:31:51.62\00:31:54.20 But here it is. 00:31:54.21\00:31:55.66 Psalm 32, verse 1 and it reads as follows. 00:31:55.67\00:31:58.57 Let's read this together because this is beautiful. 00:31:58.60\00:32:00.33 Are you ready? Here we go. 00:32:00.34\00:32:01.86 "Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, 00:32:01.87\00:32:06.62 whose sin is covered." 00:32:06.63\00:32:10.28 Ain't that wonderful? 00:32:10.29\00:32:12.19 The word blessed is a powerful word that says-- 00:32:12.20\00:32:14.84 The word, "blessed" not only means happy, 00:32:14.85\00:32:16.69 but it means exuberantly happy, 00:32:16.70\00:32:19.23 that's why I asked the question, 00:32:19.24\00:32:20.37 how did David expressed the joy? 00:32:20.38\00:32:22.77 When you look at the life of David, 00:32:25.17\00:32:27.63 you are amazed and if we were today, 00:32:27.64\00:32:30.56 if we had somebody in our congregation 00:32:30.57\00:32:32.19 that did what David did. 00:32:32.20\00:32:34.08 Men alive the general conference will hear about it. 00:32:35.61\00:32:39.62 Am I telling the truth? Yes. 00:32:39.63\00:32:40.96 That would be on Facebook, on Twitter, on Youtube. 00:32:40.97\00:32:46.50 We would try to dig up all of his records 00:32:46.51\00:32:49.12 and when he steps up to the pulpit 00:32:49.13\00:32:50.48 to sing a song, that's him. 00:32:50.49\00:32:52.70 Am I telling the truth? That's how condemning we are. 00:32:52.71\00:32:55.22 That's how sure we are on forgetting 00:32:55.23\00:32:57.10 what people have done. 00:32:57.11\00:32:59.53 But after Lord cleaned 00:32:59.54\00:33:00.73 David heart out, his heart out, 00:33:00.74\00:33:02.11 after he faithfully repented off 00:33:02.12\00:33:04.85 his sins, search me. 00:33:04.86\00:33:06.66 Oh, God, see if there be any wicked way in me. 00:33:06.67\00:33:10.22 He prayed take not your Holy Spirit, 00:33:10.23\00:33:12.50 restore to me the joy of your salvation. 00:33:12.51\00:33:15.51 He repented, he fervently repented 00:33:15.52\00:33:18.97 and that was a sincere repentance. 00:33:18.98\00:33:20.55 Even though he still had to grow 00:33:20.56\00:33:21.85 on the human aspects after that, 00:33:21.86\00:33:23.56 he so sincerely repented that he wrote this text, 00:33:23.57\00:33:27.60 "Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, 00:33:27.61\00:33:31.93 whose sin is coered." 00:33:31.94\00:33:33.75 Mind you, people still knew that he had killed Uriah. 00:33:33.76\00:33:37.90 Mind you, he was still with the woman 00:33:37.91\00:33:41.37 whose man he stoled-- 00:33:41.38\00:33:45.76 whose woman he stole her from-- 00:33:45.77\00:33:47.18 how you put that. 00:33:47.19\00:33:48.19 He stoled her from a man and killed the husband. 00:33:48.20\00:33:50.83 He was still with her. 00:33:50.84\00:33:52.13 They had a child that died, but God was forgiving 00:33:52.14\00:33:54.94 and He blessed them with another child. 00:33:54.95\00:33:56.77 The result of our sin continues some times, 00:33:56.78\00:34:00.67 but thank the Lord that the stain of it 00:34:00.68\00:34:06.10 in the side of God does not continue. 00:34:06.11\00:34:08.44 Somebody asked me, well, what if God-- 00:34:08.45\00:34:10.92 is there anything I can do that God cannot forgive me of? 00:34:10.93\00:34:12.93 And I said, "Yes, there is something you can do." 00:34:12.94\00:34:14.96 And that's to resist 00:34:14.97\00:34:15.99 the work of the Holy Spirit in your life. 00:34:16.00\00:34:18.27 Outside of that there's no category 00:34:18.28\00:34:19.64 that God can't forgive. 00:34:19.65\00:34:21.40 So David was happy, he rejoiced. 00:34:21.41\00:34:24.04 But here's question number four. 00:34:24.05\00:34:26.68 "How effective does Isaiah reveal 00:34:26.69\00:34:29.34 the righteousness of Christ to be?" How effective? 00:34:29.35\00:34:33.20 We are gonna go to Isaiah 1 and verse 18, 00:34:33.21\00:34:35.68 "How effective does Isaiah reveal 00:34:35.69\00:34:38.01 the righteousness of Christ to be?" 00:34:38.02\00:34:40.17 Before I get into the intricacies of breaking down 00:34:40.18\00:34:42.28 what justification really is. 00:34:42.29\00:34:43.58 I wanna help you see how completely, 00:34:43.59\00:34:45.65 how wonderful God does a job. 00:34:45.66\00:34:48.24 About three or four years ago, 00:34:48.25\00:34:49.64 my wife and I, we'd bought a Honda, 00:34:49.65\00:34:52.35 a nice new Honda for our 25th anniversary, 00:34:52.36\00:34:55.95 silver and we were going to someone's house 00:34:55.96\00:34:58.37 during the Christmas season. 00:34:58.38\00:34:59.78 And it was on the Saturday night 00:34:59.79\00:35:00.89 and the roads were dark 00:35:00.90\00:35:01.98 and we were riding on one of those-- 00:35:01.99\00:35:03.64 driving on one of those two lane roads 00:35:03.65\00:35:04.90 in the backwoods of Thompsonville. 00:35:04.91\00:35:06.53 And we saw a large deer on the side of the road, 00:35:06.54\00:35:09.25 but he had paws and big old antlers, 00:35:09.26\00:35:13.79 and so we continued our speed as we were going along. 00:35:13.80\00:35:16.92 Just then as we got close to him, 00:35:18.13\00:35:19.80 he lowered his head, darted across a single lane 00:35:19.81\00:35:23.22 and rammed right into our vehicle. 00:35:23.23\00:35:25.74 All the airbags deployed. Axle got broken. 00:35:25.75\00:35:30.66 Thank the Lord, the angels kept the car straight. 00:35:30.67\00:35:32.39 Praise God for that. 00:35:32.40\00:35:33.76 $10,500 in damage, not too many months 00:35:34.53\00:35:38.85 after we got the car. 00:35:38.86\00:35:40.20 Awful, uh, and we had to leave that vehicle right there. 00:35:40.21\00:35:44.62 They came with a tow truck and picked it up 00:35:45.81\00:35:47.97 and we went to the site and saw 00:35:47.98\00:35:50.44 all the terrible damage in the light of the daylight, 00:35:50.45\00:35:52.96 went to the body shop and saw how horrible things were. 00:35:52.97\00:35:55.78 And you know, when we looked at the car our-- 00:35:55.79\00:35:58.59 my appeal then was this. 00:35:58.60\00:36:01.46 Could you just give us a new one? 00:36:01.47\00:36:03.32 Because it just-- I mean I don't know 00:36:04.65\00:36:06.02 how you gonna fix that from front, left, center, 00:36:06.03\00:36:09.62 all way to the back that deer trembled 00:36:09.63\00:36:11.43 all along the side of our car, banging up, everything. 00:36:11.44\00:36:13.94 All the airbags from the left, 00:36:13.95\00:36:16.21 all the way to the back, everyone of them deployed. 00:36:16.22\00:36:18.98 Even the seat airbag, everything was messed up. 00:36:18.99\00:36:21.55 And I said, there's no way I could be-- 00:36:21.56\00:36:24.12 I know there're people that could do this stuff, 00:36:24.13\00:36:26.20 but not this. 00:36:26.21\00:36:28.85 And they said, "We could fix it." 00:36:28.86\00:36:32.04 Now I drive that car, my wife drives that car 00:36:32.05\00:36:34.60 and we look at that thing and we say, 00:36:34.61\00:36:35.85 "Where was the damage?" 00:36:35.86\00:36:38.23 I don't remember where the damage was. 00:36:38.24\00:36:39.55 I mean, intellectually I do, 00:36:39.56\00:36:41.62 but you can't see any traces of how it was before. 00:36:41.63\00:36:44.67 And I thought and I said to the body shop, 00:36:44.68\00:36:46.52 "Man, you guys did a good job. 00:36:46.53\00:36:48.47 You did really good job. 00:36:48.48\00:36:50.08 Now here's my point, if man can do that for a car, 00:36:50.09\00:36:53.94 how completely can Jesus do it for us? 00:36:53.95\00:36:57.27 Look at Isaiah. Isaiah 1, verse 18. 00:36:57.28\00:37:00.88 Notice what he says, I like this. 00:37:00.89\00:37:02.47 He invites us, He says, what? 00:37:02.48\00:37:04.28 Come now and let us reason how together, saith the lord. 00:37:04.29\00:37:08.92 That's a great invitation. 00:37:08.93\00:37:10.52 Though your sins be as, what? Scarlet. 00:37:10.53\00:37:14.70 They shall be as white as snow, 00:37:14.71\00:37:18.53 though they be red like what, crimson, 00:37:18.54\00:37:22.15 they shall be how, as wool. 00:37:22.16\00:37:24.42 Ain't that wonderful? 00:37:24.43\00:37:25.80 He is saying, you had a terrible accident, 00:37:25.81\00:37:27.43 it's called the Adam crash. 00:37:27.44\00:37:29.58 Adam crashed in the Garden of Eden, 00:37:29.59\00:37:31.62 passed on a messed up vehicle to everybody 00:37:31.63\00:37:33.62 that was born into this world 00:37:33.63\00:37:35.25 and he went driving around wondering 00:37:35.26\00:37:36.99 how to get our vehicles fixed. 00:37:37.00\00:37:39.18 Because the Lord say, you are not taken 00:37:39.19\00:37:40.26 that messed up vehicle to heaven. 00:37:40.27\00:37:42.19 So Jesus comes down and he opens a body shop. 00:37:42.20\00:37:46.59 And he gets rid of our mortal body 00:37:46.60\00:37:49.03 and gives us a hope of his immortal body. 00:37:49.04\00:37:50.93 Can you say, amen? Amen. 00:37:50.94\00:37:52.28 He says those who bore the earthly 00:37:52.29\00:37:54.39 will one day bear the heavenly 00:37:54.40\00:37:55.97 and we look at ourselves and we say, 00:37:55.98\00:37:57.54 how is that gonna happen? 00:37:57.55\00:37:59.66 And then he says to us, 00:37:59.67\00:38:01.08 "Janice, it does not yet appear what you shall be." 00:38:01.09\00:38:05.03 Praise the Lord. 00:38:05.04\00:38:06.38 "But we do know when I'm done you'll see me 00:38:06.39\00:38:11.26 as I am because you be just like me." 00:38:11.27\00:38:14.17 Ain't that wonderful news? 00:38:14.18\00:38:15.51 That's what Jesus wants to do for every one of us. 00:38:15.52\00:38:17.45 He wants to clean us up so wonderfully that 00:38:17.46\00:38:20.39 so when you see your brother and sister stumbling, 00:38:20.40\00:38:23.10 don't write 'em off because God hasn't written you off. 00:38:23.11\00:38:26.63 He is working on us to fit us into his righteous kingdom 00:38:26.64\00:38:29.66 and he is saying to us, you can't do it without me. 00:38:29.67\00:38:33.65 What also amazed me is when I went to the body shop, 00:38:33.66\00:38:36.94 I looked in the back of that body shop 00:38:36.95\00:38:38.62 and I saw cars everywhere. 00:38:38.63\00:38:41.47 I mean, wind shields, roofs crushed in and I said, 00:38:41.48\00:38:46.73 now are those cars gonna be junk? 00:38:46.74\00:38:48.54 No, they're all in line to be fixed. 00:38:48.55\00:38:50.99 And I am thinking, man these guys are good. 00:38:51.00\00:38:53.35 And I looked at my Lord and said, 00:38:53.36\00:38:54.61 he is a lot better than they are, amen. 00:38:54.62\00:38:56.75 Because no matter how we were 00:38:56.76\00:38:58.70 through his diligent labor, 00:38:58.71\00:39:01.08 the cross, the body shop of humanity, 00:39:01.09\00:39:03.97 the cross, the blood shed 00:39:03.98\00:39:06.23 to cover our filthy righteousness. 00:39:06.24\00:39:08.59 Praise the Lord for that. 00:39:08.60\00:39:09.92 But it continues because here is the next question. 00:39:09.93\00:39:12.76 I am gonna drive this point home. 00:39:12.77\00:39:15.06 Question number five. 00:39:15.07\00:39:16.49 "How completely does the righteousness of Jesus 00:39:16.50\00:39:22.45 cover our sin?" How completely? 00:39:22.46\00:39:24.93 And I want you to notice I used the word, 00:39:24.94\00:39:26.44 S-I-N because I am not talking about S-I-N-S. 00:39:26.45\00:39:30.48 This is very important to understand. 00:39:30.49\00:39:32.31 For those who think I'm talking about marijuana 00:39:32.32\00:39:34.80 and drug abuse and stealing and pornography 00:39:34.81\00:39:37.08 and sexuality and all these things, 00:39:37.09\00:39:39.07 I'm not talking about that, those are sins, 00:39:39.08\00:39:41.37 those are itemized things that the fallen nature falls into. 00:39:41.38\00:39:45.13 But how completely does the righteousness of Christ, 00:39:45.14\00:39:48.05 Jesus cover our sin. 00:39:48.06\00:39:50.26 Here is how completely and the sin I'm talking about 00:39:50.27\00:39:52.21 is the broken nature that we got from Adam. 00:39:52.22\00:39:55.40 First John 1:9, here it is. 00:39:55.41\00:39:59.92 If--what's the first word? "If we confess our sins, 00:39:59.93\00:40:04.81 He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins 00:40:04.82\00:40:09.81 and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 00:40:09.82\00:40:15.15 Praise the Lord for that. 00:40:15.16\00:40:16.80 Not a partial cleansing, I've had my teeth cleaned before. 00:40:16.81\00:40:19.59 Anybody over here had your teeth cleaned at a dentist? 00:40:19.60\00:40:23.22 I read a story of a guy who said, 00:40:23.23\00:40:24.88 he really likes his dental hygienist, 00:40:24.89\00:40:27.52 so when he went to the-- before he went to the dentist 00:40:27.53\00:40:30.01 he will sit and eat a whole bag of Oreo cookies. 00:40:30.02\00:40:33.17 I mean Oreo cookies will really mess you up. 00:40:33.18\00:40:35.50 I mean really, if you've done that before it just, 00:40:35.51\00:40:38.57 it just stains everywhere. 00:40:38.58\00:40:40.81 But none of those stains existed 00:40:40.82\00:40:42.69 after he got a thorough cleaning. 00:40:42.70\00:40:44.58 In the very same way, 00:40:44.59\00:40:45.73 if we take our broken stained lives to Christ, 00:40:45.74\00:40:48.23 He so completely covers us. 00:40:48.24\00:40:50.15 The Bible says, He cleanses us from, how much? 00:40:50.16\00:40:53.07 All, A-L-L, all, all unrighteousness. 00:40:53.08\00:40:57.60 And that's the reality of this world. 00:40:57.61\00:40:59.43 You know we look at all the conditions of the world 00:40:59.44\00:41:01.51 politically and religiously and every other dichotomy 00:41:01.52\00:41:05.41 that exists in our world, but the only real issue, 00:41:05.42\00:41:07.80 let me just pause for a moment. 00:41:07.81\00:41:09.73 The only real issue, look up real quick, 00:41:09.74\00:41:12.05 the only real issue is not the gas prices, 00:41:12.06\00:41:17.22 not who's gonna be the next president, 00:41:17.23\00:41:19.13 not whether or not real estate is gonna go back up. 00:41:19.14\00:41:21.69 The only real issue in this life is, 00:41:21.70\00:41:24.56 are we going to accept the salvation 00:41:24.57\00:41:27.64 that Jesus offers to us? 00:41:27.65\00:41:31.13 Because He didn't come to save houses 00:41:31.14\00:41:32.85 and lower oil prices and get the right president. 00:41:32.86\00:41:37.15 He came to save sinners. What's the mission of Jesus? 00:41:37.16\00:41:41.29 For the son of man has come to seek 00:41:41.30\00:41:43.03 and to save that which was lost. 00:41:43.04\00:41:45.98 That's the mission of Jesus. 00:41:45.99\00:41:47.36 That's the only real issue in his life. 00:41:47.37\00:41:49.03 Everything else will be handled in time. 00:41:49.04\00:41:50.90 Everything that's an issue now 00:41:50.91\00:41:52.56 may not be an issue in four years. 00:41:52.57\00:41:54.99 But the real issue that will continue on 00:41:55.00\00:41:56.63 until sin is eradicated is whether or not 00:41:56.64\00:41:58.98 we'll accept the righteousness of Christ. 00:41:58.99\00:42:01.76 Question number six, Question number six, 00:42:01.77\00:42:05.07 and I like the way I put this. 00:42:05.08\00:42:06.49 You know I must-- some creatives here, 00:42:06.50\00:42:08.42 when I'm studying this lesson, 00:42:08.43\00:42:09.96 you know it's nice about this 00:42:09.97\00:42:10.96 I get the blessing of this lesson, 00:42:10.97\00:42:12.83 when I study it and then when I present it to you, 00:42:12.84\00:42:15.97 I get a double blessing. 00:42:15.98\00:42:17.46 I cut the tree down and I get the warmth of the firewood. 00:42:17.47\00:42:20.41 What makes the gospel "Good News?" 00:42:22.26\00:42:24.95 What makes it good news? 00:42:24.96\00:42:27.05 Romans 1 verse 16 and verse 17. 00:42:27.06\00:42:30.78 What makes it good news? I like this. 00:42:30.79\00:42:34.46 When Paul writes he begins the story 00:42:34.47\00:42:37.46 or the book to the Romans, he writes this way. 00:42:37.47\00:42:40.72 Romans 1 verse 16 and verse 17. 00:42:40.73\00:42:43.49 And he says, For I am not ashamed 00:42:43.50\00:42:48.66 of the gospel of Christ, but now get this, 00:42:48.67\00:42:52.77 for it is the, what's the next word? 00:42:52.78\00:42:55.47 Power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, 00:42:55.48\00:43:00.94 for the Jew first, and also for the Greek, 00:43:00.95\00:43:05.57 For in it, the righteousness of God is revealed, from what? 00:43:05.58\00:43:10.91 Faith to faith, as it is written together, 00:43:10.92\00:43:14.63 "The just shall live by faith." 00:43:14.64\00:43:18.03 Just shall live by-- so Paul says, 00:43:18.04\00:43:20.40 "I'm not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ 00:43:20.41\00:43:22.65 because I know what it did for me." 00:43:22.66\00:43:24.11 Now what was Paul's name before Paul? 00:43:24.12\00:43:28.22 Saul. Right, okay. 00:43:28.23\00:43:30.41 This is something that's gonna happen 00:43:30.42\00:43:31.58 when we get to heaven. 00:43:31.59\00:43:32.69 Each of us is gonna have a new name. 00:43:32.70\00:43:35.00 The Lord illustrated that through 00:43:35.01\00:43:36.28 changing Saul's name to Paul. 00:43:36.29\00:43:38.66 He didn't want even the former things. 00:43:38.67\00:43:41.85 You know what's nice about that, 00:43:41.86\00:43:43.96 the Lord not only saves us, 00:43:43.97\00:43:46.36 but He enters us into a witness protection program. 00:43:46.37\00:43:51.41 Who is that? That's Paul. 00:43:51.42\00:43:53.72 Oh, he looked like Saul. Oh, so it's not Saul. 00:43:53.73\00:43:57.37 No, that's Paul. 00:43:57.38\00:43:58.74 Oh, okay because he sure does look like Saul. 00:43:58.75\00:44:01.59 That's not Saul, that's Paul. 00:44:01.60\00:44:03.43 Ain't that wonderful, did you get that? 00:44:03.44\00:44:05.46 That's not Greg-- that's not Mike, that's Greg. 00:44:05.47\00:44:08.34 He surely looks like Mike, no his new name is Greg. 00:44:08.35\00:44:11.76 He is the one married to Jill. 00:44:11.77\00:44:13.17 You mean to Julie. No, that was her former name. 00:44:13.18\00:44:17.47 She's now Jill. That's our local church joke here. 00:44:17.48\00:44:22.15 God not only changes your life, 00:44:22.16\00:44:24.72 but He gives us a new name, hallelujah to that, amen. 00:44:24.73\00:44:27.31 We're all gonna have a new name, 00:44:27.32\00:44:29.41 his name will be written on our foreheads. 00:44:29.42\00:44:31.92 He's gonna have a new name, we're gonna sing a new song. 00:44:31.93\00:44:34.33 He's come to make all things new, 00:44:34.34\00:44:35.90 a new Heaven and a new Earth, a new life. 00:44:35.91\00:44:37.86 But that new life is not just when we get there, 00:44:37.87\00:44:40.17 that new life is, N-O-W. 00:44:40.18\00:44:43.12 That's why the next question is so vitally important, 00:44:43.13\00:44:46.71 so vitally important. 00:44:46.72\00:44:48.69 "What role do we play in the act of Justification?" 00:44:48.70\00:44:51.92 Question number seven. 00:44:51.93\00:44:52.94 "What role do we play in the act of Justification?" 00:44:52.95\00:44:57.73 You know a lot of people say, well, what can I do? 00:44:57.74\00:44:59.76 You know when somebody gives you a gift you say, 00:44:59.77\00:45:01.13 well, what can I do? Accept it. 00:45:01.14\00:45:03.81 Well, is there anything I can do for you? 00:45:03.82\00:45:05.79 And you know sometime the greater the gift 00:45:05.80\00:45:07.28 the more expensive it is we say, 00:45:07.29\00:45:08.63 "Oh, I'm forever indebted to you." Am I right? 00:45:08.64\00:45:12.71 And I'll tell you, if the Lord explains to us, 00:45:12.72\00:45:14.75 how much He paid for us when we get to heaven. 00:45:14.76\00:45:17.04 We're gonna need eternity to pay Him back. 00:45:17.05\00:45:19.26 And still we'll never be able to do that. 00:45:19.27\00:45:21.55 But what role do we play in the act of justification? 00:45:21.56\00:45:24.38 Here it is, Romans 5, verse 6 to 8, 00:45:24.39\00:45:27.93 Romans 5 verse 6 to 8. 00:45:27.94\00:45:30.62 Okay. 00:45:33.59\00:45:34.98 Okay, that's okay. 00:45:37.61\00:45:40.40 Let's just go to Romans 5 verse 6 to 8. 00:45:40.41\00:45:43.02 Okay, that's humanity. 00:45:43.03\00:45:46.49 Thank the Lord for divinity, amen. 00:45:46.50\00:45:49.44 Romans 5 verse 6 to 8. 00:45:49.45\00:45:51.35 So good that those of you're watching 00:45:51.36\00:45:52.78 have the right syllabus. 00:45:52.79\00:45:54.47 Here we go, how completely does-- 00:45:54.48\00:46:01.92 what role do we play in the act of justification? 00:46:05.75\00:46:09.30 Okay Romans 5 verse 6 to 8. Are you ready? Here it is. 00:46:09.31\00:46:12.62 This is, for when we were, what? 00:46:12.63\00:46:15.45 Still without strength, in due time Christ did, what? 00:46:15.46\00:46:21.48 Died for the ungodly. 00:46:21.49\00:46:24.00 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die, 00:46:24.01\00:46:29.13 yet perhaps for a, what? 00:46:29.14\00:46:31.48 Good man someone would even dare to die. 00:46:31.49\00:46:35.56 But get this, this is the part we play. 00:46:35.57\00:46:38.95 But God demonstrates His love towards us, 00:46:38.96\00:46:42.76 in that while we were, what? 00:46:42.77\00:46:45.07 Still or yet sinners, Christ did what? Died for us. 00:46:45.08\00:46:49.42 What part do we play? What part do we play? 00:46:49.43\00:46:53.18 Absolutely none, because who did the dying? 00:46:53.19\00:46:55.92 Jesus. Who did the sinning? We did. 00:46:55.93\00:46:59.38 So notice this, while we were yet, 00:46:59.39\00:47:02.93 while we were still in sin, Christ died for us. 00:47:02.94\00:47:07.37 Now that's amazing because you know sometimes 00:47:07.38\00:47:09.72 if you think about this in the context of a family-- 00:47:09.73\00:47:12.32 have you heard of a will, a will? You've heard that? 00:47:12.33\00:47:15.40 You know last will and testament? 00:47:15.41\00:47:17.33 Well, the last will and testament of Jesus 00:47:17.34\00:47:19.93 was ratified at the cross by His shed blood. 00:47:19.94\00:47:24.01 And it was also passed on from generation to generation 00:47:24.02\00:47:26.76 that will come after Him. 00:47:26.77\00:47:29.29 So let's say somebody is born into your family 00:47:29.30\00:47:31.10 and this is the case in many families. 00:47:31.11\00:47:33.16 Sometimes a person may say, 00:47:33.17\00:47:35.38 "I come from a second generation Christian family," 00:47:35.39\00:47:38.37 second generation Baptist, third generation Adventist, 00:47:38.38\00:47:41.00 second generation Pentecostal. 00:47:41.01\00:47:42.83 It's almost like they're saying that 00:47:42.84\00:47:45.05 righteousness and spirituality can go 00:47:45.06\00:47:46.94 from generations to generations, but it can't. 00:47:46.95\00:47:50.31 As the Bible says I believe is in Ezekiel. 00:47:50.32\00:47:52.43 It says though Daniel, Job and Noah were in it, 00:47:52.44\00:47:55.03 they shall need to save son or daughter 00:47:55.04\00:47:57.54 by their righteousness. 00:47:57.55\00:47:59.30 Everybody has to find that righteousness. 00:47:59.31\00:48:01.63 But here is my point, somebody is born in the family 00:48:01.64\00:48:04.70 and when they get to the age of 18, 00:48:04.71\00:48:07.11 you say to them, did you know 00:48:07.12\00:48:08.65 that you're great grandfather 00:48:08.66\00:48:11.19 put you in his will before you were born? 00:48:11.20\00:48:15.43 He said when my great grandson is born 00:48:15.44\00:48:18.88 and that was before the woman 00:48:18.89\00:48:21.00 who gave him birth even was married, 00:48:21.01\00:48:25.03 that got married by God's grace, had a son, 00:48:25.04\00:48:28.30 and then the will now was in effect. 00:48:28.31\00:48:30.57 "When my great grandson is born, 00:48:30.58\00:48:32.58 when he hits 18, I've laid aside 00:48:32.59\00:48:34.65 ten million dollars for his education." 00:48:34.66\00:48:37.87 So here is this guy born into the family, 00:48:37.88\00:48:40.28 doesn't even know his great grandfather, 00:48:40.29\00:48:42.37 great grandfather died before he was even born. 00:48:42.38\00:48:45.06 But you sit him down and say, 00:48:45.07\00:48:46.69 today is your 18th birthday, 00:48:46.70\00:48:47.85 I've been waiting for this day to tell you something. 00:48:47.86\00:48:50.42 And he says, mom, I need $50 to go to mall. 00:48:50.43\00:48:52.15 She says, just relax I need to tell you something. 00:48:52.16\00:48:55.57 But mom the mall is gonna closed. 00:48:55.58\00:48:57.01 Relax, I need to tell you something. 00:48:57.02\00:49:01.06 But I need $50. Relax, I need to tell you something. 00:49:01.07\00:49:06.46 Your great grandfather whatever name is, 00:49:06.47\00:49:10.72 the first had your name in his will 00:49:10.73\00:49:13.95 under simply the title grandson. 00:49:13.96\00:49:16.98 And he put aside some money for you 00:49:16.99\00:49:18.91 that when and if you're born, 00:49:18.92\00:49:22.36 this money will be yours when you hit 18. 00:49:22.37\00:49:24.89 Mom, is it $50? No, son, it's 10 million. 00:49:24.90\00:49:31.72 Do you think he is concerned about 00:49:31.73\00:49:33.00 whether or not the mall is gonna close? 00:49:33.01\00:49:35.58 Absolutely not. He says, mall is gonna close, 00:49:35.59\00:49:37.79 I'll buy me a mall, I'll build me a mall. 00:49:37.80\00:49:42.36 Mom, are you serious? Mom, are you serious? 00:49:42.37\00:49:44.69 Let me show you the will. 00:49:46.81\00:49:48.88 Brothers and sisters, here's the will of God. 00:49:48.89\00:49:51.98 It's ratified, it's written down, 00:49:51.99\00:49:54.73 and if you don't believe it, for God's soul of the world, 00:49:54.74\00:49:58.06 here's the will that He gave his, what? 00:49:58.07\00:49:59.88 Only begotten son that whosoever 00:49:59.89\00:50:02.77 believeth in Him, what? 00:50:02.78\00:50:04.39 Should not perish, but have what? Everlasting life. 00:50:04.40\00:50:07.78 Ten million dollars is nothing 00:50:07.79\00:50:10.19 when you compare that to eternity. 00:50:10.20\00:50:11.93 I'm discovering nowadays you can spend 00:50:11.94\00:50:13.57 10 million dollars, but with all that money you have, 00:50:13.58\00:50:16.59 you cannot buy eternity because it's not for sale. 00:50:16.60\00:50:19.79 It's a free gift. But look at the next question. 00:50:19.80\00:50:23.76 Question number eight, Question number eight. 00:50:23.77\00:50:27.08 "Speaking of Jesus, how does Paul describe 00:50:27.09\00:50:31.22 the provisions of Justification?" 00:50:31.23\00:50:34.56 How does Paul describe 00:50:34.57\00:50:36.39 the provisions of Justification? 00:50:36.40\00:50:39.37 Romans Chapter 3, verse 25 and 26. 00:50:39.38\00:50:43.01 Romans Chapter 3, verse 25 and 26. 00:50:43.02\00:50:47.67 How does he describe the provisions of Justification? 00:50:47.68\00:50:51.59 Here's what the Bible says, 00:50:51.60\00:50:55.05 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, 00:50:55.06\00:51:01.68 through faith, to do what? 00:51:01.69\00:51:04.62 To demonstrate His righteousness, 00:51:04.63\00:51:07.06 because in His forbearance 00:51:07.07\00:51:10.67 God had passed over the sins 00:51:10.68\00:51:13.06 that were and get this previously committed. 00:51:13.07\00:51:17.94 To demonstrate at the present time, His what? 00:51:17.95\00:51:21.30 His righteousness that He might be just 00:51:21.31\00:51:25.28 and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. 00:51:25.29\00:51:30.33 That's a whole lot, isn't it? 00:51:30.34\00:51:32.57 But I want to break this down by simply saying this. 00:51:32.58\00:51:36.01 Reading the question again, "Speaking of Jesus, 00:51:36.02\00:51:38.42 how does Paul describe the provisions of Justification? 00:51:38.43\00:51:43.29 Jesus provides for sins that were previously, 00:51:43.30\00:51:47.67 come on let's say this together. 00:51:47.68\00:51:48.96 What's the word? Previously committed. 00:51:48.97\00:51:52.38 He not only makes provision for that, 00:51:52.39\00:51:55.35 but He's also the justifier, 00:51:55.36\00:51:57.43 He's just and he's also the justifier. 00:51:57.44\00:52:00.07 What I want you to write down 00:52:00.08\00:52:02.00 and this is what I want you to write down. 00:52:02.01\00:52:03.43 Write down, He is just and He is the justifier. 00:52:03.44\00:52:08.13 This is gonna open up really wonderful 00:52:08.14\00:52:10.42 like an artichoke right here. 00:52:10.43\00:52:12.61 We may not get all of it tonight, 00:52:12.62\00:52:13.90 but this is gonna open up amazingly. 00:52:13.91\00:52:15.77 Because when you think about, 00:52:15.78\00:52:17.12 let me put the context together. 00:52:17.13\00:52:19.34 When a person is in court and they have been accused 00:52:19.35\00:52:23.40 of committing a crime, until they admit 00:52:23.41\00:52:27.07 that they are guilty, they don't need mercy. 00:52:27.08\00:52:33.46 Do you follow me? 00:52:33.47\00:52:35.87 If they are not proven guilty, they don't think about mercy. 00:52:35.88\00:52:42.02 So lot of people today 00:52:42.03\00:52:44.07 although they are caught in the crime, how do you plead? 00:52:44.08\00:52:47.12 What do they often say? Not guilty. 00:52:47.13\00:52:50.11 When they plead not guilty, 00:52:50.12\00:52:51.92 you know what they want, they want justice. 00:52:51.93\00:52:54.10 If they are not guilty, justice demands 00:52:54.11\00:52:55.83 that they are what? Set free. 00:52:55.84\00:52:58.41 But when they are proven guilty, 00:52:58.42\00:53:00.44 has the jury reached the verdict, 00:53:00.45\00:53:04.53 all the angels that haven't look down on our record 00:53:04.54\00:53:06.47 and they say, as to the crime 00:53:06.48\00:53:09.87 and the first entitlement in the books of Heaven. 00:53:09.88\00:53:13.86 Sorry, Yannick. Yannick is declared guilty. 00:53:13.87\00:53:16.50 As to account number two in the provision 00:53:18.86\00:53:21.18 of the heavenly record, Yannick is declared guilty. 00:53:21.19\00:53:26.87 And he stands there completely flabbergasted 00:53:26.88\00:53:29.70 as to what I'm gonna do. 00:53:29.71\00:53:31.96 How am I gonna make my way through this. 00:53:31.97\00:53:33.85 I'm ending this program with a cliffhanger 00:53:33.86\00:53:35.44 because you have to comeback to find out 00:53:35.45\00:53:37.94 how Yannick is gonna be set free? 00:53:37.95\00:53:39.89 Until next week he's gonna be in the sad mode 00:53:39.90\00:53:42.77 because he knows, by the way everyone of us knows 00:53:42.78\00:53:46.09 that when the records are read 00:53:46.10\00:53:47.33 and when our records are read, 00:53:47.34\00:53:48.91 we're all guilty, what do you say? 00:53:48.92\00:53:50.51 Amen. Every one of us is. 00:53:50.52\00:53:51.52 But how does God remain just 00:53:51.53\00:53:54.53 a person who upholds his law 00:53:54.54\00:53:56.50 and sets the guilty free at the same time. 00:53:56.51\00:53:58.77 That's powerful thing to do. Amen. 00:53:58.78\00:54:01.10 Look at Romans Chapter 3, verse 21. 00:54:01.11\00:54:03.01 Question number nine. 00:54:03.02\00:54:04.03 I think this may be our last question for the night 00:54:04.04\00:54:06.35 because the other one goes to specific phases. 00:54:06.36\00:54:09.38 "How can Jesus be 'Just' 00:54:09.39\00:54:13.28 and the 'Justifier' at the same time?" 00:54:13.29\00:54:17.94 Because what's that doing is that puts Jesus 00:54:17.95\00:54:21.11 in the seat of the judge which He is, also in the seat 00:54:21.12\00:54:24.34 at the defense attorney, 00:54:24.35\00:54:27.03 because the defense attorney wants to do what? 00:54:27.04\00:54:28.91 Set you free. The judge wants to what? 00:54:28.92\00:54:31.55 The judge wants to do what? 00:54:31.56\00:54:33.59 Come on, tell me, the judge wants to do what? 00:54:33.60\00:54:36.72 The only role of the judge is to follow the law. 00:54:36.73\00:54:41.99 Because sometimes you can say the judge wants 00:54:42.00\00:54:43.46 to condemn you, the reason I ask that question 00:54:43.47\00:54:44.96 is because sometimes when you say, "Oh, great judge." 00:54:44.97\00:54:49.00 We think of him as wanting to condemn us. 00:54:49.01\00:54:50.77 His only role is to make sure and do everything 00:54:50.78\00:54:53.83 in harmony with the law. 00:54:53.84\00:54:55.76 That's why when people say 00:54:55.77\00:54:57.42 that the law of God is done away with. 00:54:57.43\00:54:59.39 You cannot have mercy, you cannot have justification, 00:54:59.40\00:55:03.31 you can't even be saved if there is no law. 00:55:03.32\00:55:07.27 Because if there is no law, there is no sin, 00:55:07.28\00:55:09.94 from what do you need salvation? 00:55:09.95\00:55:12.21 So when a church teaches that God's law has been 00:55:12.22\00:55:14.38 nailed to the cross, you need to leave that church 00:55:14.39\00:55:16.23 because you are lost. 00:55:16.24\00:55:18.51 Because they're preaching 00:55:18.52\00:55:19.98 a message that has nothing behind it. 00:55:19.99\00:55:23.24 It's not even a balloon with air in it. 00:55:25.28\00:55:28.70 But how can Jesus be just and justifier at the same time. 00:55:28.71\00:55:31.74 Romans 3, verse 21 to 22. 00:55:31.75\00:55:35.55 But now the righteousness of God, 00:55:35.56\00:55:39.61 what's the next word? 00:55:39.62\00:55:41.05 Apart from the law is revealed, 00:55:41.06\00:55:44.11 being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 00:55:44.12\00:55:48.51 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ 00:55:48.52\00:55:55.11 together to all and on all, who do what? 00:55:55.12\00:55:59.83 Believe. For there is what? No difference. 00:55:59.84\00:56:03.63 Now let me break that down because some people say, 00:56:03.64\00:56:05.48 "Uh, what did that mean?" 00:56:05.49\00:56:07.94 What did that in fact mean? 00:56:07.95\00:56:10.62 He is not only, you see the righteousness 00:56:10.63\00:56:13.20 that He is talking about that's apart from the law. 00:56:13.21\00:56:17.32 When the ceremonial law was carried out 00:56:17.33\00:56:20.27 throughout the ages before Christ came in 00:56:20.28\00:56:22.10 and became the Lamb of God. 00:56:22.11\00:56:24.32 You read the Book of Hebrew's Chapter 8, 00:56:24.33\00:56:26.88 Hebrew's Chapter 9, Hebrew's Chapter 10. 00:56:26.89\00:56:28.69 And the Bible says, 00:56:28.70\00:56:30.57 "Sacrifice and offering, I would not." 00:56:30.58\00:56:35.17 The blood of bulls and goats can never take away sin." 00:56:35.18\00:56:38.68 But that is what was witnessed by the law 00:56:38.69\00:56:41.98 and the prophets, they saw that. 00:56:41.99\00:56:44.81 But now Jesus says 00:56:44.82\00:56:47.09 my righteousness is apart from that. 00:56:47.10\00:56:50.26 Meaning that does not dictate my righteousness. 00:56:50.27\00:56:54.26 We are dictated by the faith that is in Christ Jesus. 00:56:54.27\00:56:57.77 So continue to tune in because we'll go back 00:56:57.78\00:57:00.39 and show you a Sharper Focus in the future. 00:57:00.40\00:57:02.56 God bless you. 00:57:02.57\00:57:03.90 Oh, I have a minute left, we'll praise the Lord. 00:57:08.75\00:57:11.58 I thought I had no time left. 00:57:11.59\00:57:13.33 I have justification. 00:57:13.34\00:57:16.79 Let me make myself very, very clear. 00:57:16.80\00:57:19.89 Jesus saves us apart from the commandments, 00:57:19.90\00:57:25.60 He saves us apart from the ceremonial law, 00:57:25.61\00:57:29.95 He justifies us, and He remains 00:57:29.96\00:57:33.90 just at the same time. 00:57:33.91\00:57:36.02 I want you to think about next week, 00:57:36.03\00:57:38.06 think about that because somebody may be saying. 00:57:38.07\00:57:40.43 Wait a minute. 00:57:40.44\00:57:41.69 Are you saying, Pastor John, that we don't need 00:57:41.70\00:57:45.73 to keep the commandments to be saved? 00:57:45.74\00:57:47.31 That's not what I'm saying. 00:57:47.32\00:57:49.11 The commandments remain firm, 00:57:49.12\00:57:51.52 the righteousness of Christ remains firm. 00:57:51.53\00:57:54.51 He is the justifier and He is also just. 00:57:54.52\00:57:56.83 May God bless you, until we see you next week. 00:57:56.84\00:58:00.57
