And comes from the DVD series, "Awesome Science" 00:00:04.43\00:00:09.27 [music playing] 00:00:09.77\00:00:10.61 NOAH JUSTICE: In the southwest part 00:00:10.71\00:00:12.31 of the United States in an area known as Four Corners, 00:00:12.41\00:00:15.74 there lies three different regions where 00:00:15.84\00:00:17.61 ancient dwellings can be found. 00:00:17.71\00:00:20.75 Known as Mesa Verde National Park, Chaco ruins, 00:00:20.85\00:00:24.22 and the Aztec ruins, these amazing archaeological 00:00:24.32\00:00:27.52 locations can be toured and explored by your whole family. 00:00:27.62\00:00:31.66 But as you view these locations, questions arise. 00:00:31.76\00:00:35.36 Who made them? 00:00:35.46\00:00:36.70 Where did these people come from? 00:00:36.80\00:00:38.57 And where did they go? 00:00:38.67\00:00:40.74 Biological evolution maintains that humans evolved over 00:00:40.84\00:00:44.37 several hundred thousand years descending from apes. 00:00:44.47\00:00:47.54 And only about 5,000 to 10,000 years ago 00:00:47.64\00:00:50.65 did civilizations arise where cities like these were built. 00:00:50.75\00:00:55.18 But there are big challenges with this view. 00:00:55.28\00:00:59.49 According to the genealogies in the Bible, 00:00:59.59\00:01:01.86 man was created by God about 6,000 years ago. 00:01:01.96\00:01:05.79 Then, a global flood wiped out everyone 00:01:05.89\00:01:08.76 except for Noah and his family. 00:01:08.86\00:01:11.43 The earth was repopulated over the last 4,350 years. 00:01:11.53\00:01:16.27 As the population grew, it diversified 00:01:16.37\00:01:18.74 into different people groups that we observe today. 00:01:18.84\00:01:22.14 Evolutionists like Darwin and Haeckel 00:01:22.24\00:01:24.58 often claimed that some races evolved at different speeds 00:01:24.68\00:01:28.48 from others, and some are more favored than others. 00:01:28.58\00:01:31.89 This view has caused genocide of millions in this century alone. 00:01:31.99\00:01:37.19 Plus, evolutionists have a very difficult time 00:01:37.29\00:01:39.79 explaining how the 7,000 different languages developed 00:01:39.89\00:01:43.63 all over the world. 00:01:43.73\00:01:46.37 Originally, there was one language. 00:01:46.47\00:01:48.77 But we also learned that distinct languages came by God 00:01:48.87\00:01:52.67 at the Tower of Babel through a supernatural act 00:01:52.77\00:01:55.84 of God's judgment. 00:01:55.94\00:01:57.65 Which one is true, and which one do we trust? 00:01:57.75\00:02:01.52 All this and more next on "Awesome Science." 00:02:01.62\00:02:05.29 [music playing] 00:02:05.39\00:02:08.69 "Awesome Science" takes you on a field trip 00:02:10.26\00:02:13.09 to some of the most amazing geologic and historic sites 00:02:13.19\00:02:16.70 around the world, where we use the Bible as our history 00:02:16.80\00:02:20.27 guidebook to interpret what we see, 00:02:20.37\00:02:22.27 that the Bible can be trusted and empirical science falls 00:02:22.37\00:02:26.04 in line with the biblical account of creation, 00:02:26.14\00:02:28.61 the fall, and the flood. 00:02:28.71\00:02:31.31 Science, it's awesome. 00:02:31.41\00:02:33.18 According to the Bible, about 6,000 years ago, 00:02:36.62\00:02:39.62 God created man in his own image on the sixth day. 00:02:39.72\00:02:43.53 Adam and Eve were given a beautiful garden to live in 00:02:43.63\00:02:46.80 and were told to multiply and subdue the Earth. 00:02:46.90\00:02:49.83 But Satan rebelled from God and used a serpent 00:02:49.93\00:02:53.10 to deceive Eve, and subsequently Adam, into sin. 00:02:53.20\00:02:57.34 In response, God sentenced man to die for their sin, 00:02:57.44\00:03:01.08 and then cast Adam and Eve from the garden. 00:03:01.18\00:03:04.38 1,600 years after creation, God had decided that the sin of man 00:03:04.48\00:03:08.95 had gotten so bad that he was going 00:03:09.05\00:03:11.29 to destroy the Earth with a worldwide flood. 00:03:11.39\00:03:15.02 Only one man and his family held special favor with God. 00:03:15.12\00:03:19.56 God told Noah to build an ark and be saved 00:03:19.66\00:03:22.43 from the worldwide destruction. 00:03:22.53\00:03:25.10 About a year later, Noah's family came off the ark 00:03:25.20\00:03:28.30 and began to repopulate the Earth. 00:03:28.40\00:03:30.87 God promised that he would never flood the Earth again, 00:03:30.97\00:03:34.14 and instituted the rainbow as a sign of his promise. 00:03:34.24\00:03:38.11 Noah's sons were Shem, Ham, and Japheth, 00:03:38.21\00:03:41.68 all were born around the time that Noah was 500 years old. 00:03:41.78\00:03:45.99 Once everyone came off the ark, God 00:03:46.09\00:03:48.42 told them to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. 00:03:48.52\00:03:53.13 Within 100 years, Noah's descendants 00:03:53.23\00:03:55.63 multiplied but had settled to the east of Noah's farm. 00:03:55.73\00:03:59.70 They found the plain of Shinar and settled 00:03:59.80\00:04:02.07 there, which is in modern day Iraq, 00:04:02.17\00:04:04.51 named for the old city of Uruk near Baghdad. 00:04:04.61\00:04:09.18 There was only one language at that time. 00:04:09.28\00:04:12.41 The people wanted to build a city and a high tower 00:04:12.51\00:04:15.22 to make a name for themselves and not be 00:04:15.32\00:04:17.55 scattered over the whole Earth. 00:04:17.65\00:04:19.45 This was in direct opposition of God's command to spread out. 00:04:19.55\00:04:24.79 Some have suggested the high tower was a place of sacrifice 00:04:24.89\00:04:28.66 to the sun gods. 00:04:28.76\00:04:30.17 We see evidence of this all around the world, 00:04:30.27\00:04:32.90 with ancient tall ziggurats and pyramids being 00:04:33.00\00:04:35.94 used for human sacrifices. 00:04:36.04\00:04:38.47 By having this temple in one location, 00:04:38.57\00:04:41.08 people would have to keep coming back for a sacrifice, which 00:04:41.18\00:04:44.38 would have kept everyone close. 00:04:44.48\00:04:46.72 When everyone is close, it's easier to rule them 00:04:46.82\00:04:49.58 and easier for evil to spread among them. 00:04:49.68\00:04:53.22 God came down to see what man was doing. 00:04:53.32\00:04:56.73 God knew that they all spoke one language. 00:04:56.83\00:04:59.33 And if he let them get away with this defiance of his command, 00:04:59.43\00:05:02.96 then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. 00:05:03.06\00:05:08.54 God must have recalled the civilizations before the flood 00:05:08.64\00:05:12.34 and how they rebelled against his commands. 00:05:12.44\00:05:15.14 He was seeing it replay here at babel. 00:05:15.24\00:05:18.61 Remember, God promised Noah that he would never 00:05:18.71\00:05:21.42 send another flood. 00:05:21.52\00:05:22.88 However, God also knew that he needed to scuttle man's plans 00:05:22.98\00:05:26.45 and force them to spread out. 00:05:26.55\00:05:28.29 He knew that it was best for humanity that they 00:05:28.39\00:05:30.93 not all settle in one place. 00:05:31.03\00:05:33.90 Of course, his plan was brilliant. 00:05:34.00\00:05:36.80 He decided to give different family groups 00:05:36.90\00:05:39.13 different languages so that they would not 00:05:39.23\00:05:41.30 understand each other. 00:05:41.40\00:05:43.10 This would force them to scatter. 00:05:43.20\00:05:45.51 So when did this event occur? 00:05:45.61\00:05:48.34 If we use the biblical time scale, 00:05:48.44\00:05:50.55 the flood would have happened in about 2350 BC. 00:05:50.65\00:05:54.52 Archbishop James Ussher placed the time of Babel 00:05:54.62\00:05:57.65 at 106 years after the flood, or in 2242 BC, when 00:05:57.75\00:06:02.89 Peleg was born. 00:06:02.99\00:06:04.59 Abraham was called by God in 1921 BC, about 300 years 00:06:04.69\00:06:09.70 after Babel. 00:06:09.80\00:06:11.57 According to secular archeology, Egypt began about 3,500 BC, 00:06:11.67\00:06:16.87 in Babylon in 4000 BC. 00:06:16.97\00:06:20.44 But a more accurate figure in the biblical time scale 00:06:20.54\00:06:24.01 would be 2188 for Egypt in 2234 for Babylon. 00:06:24.11\00:06:29.32 Since these nations speak different languages, 00:06:29.42\00:06:32.09 their founding would have been after the Tower of Babel which 00:06:32.19\00:06:35.22 occurred after the flood. 00:06:35.32\00:06:37.49 After all, Egypt is named for Egyptus in Greek, 00:06:37.59\00:06:40.96 or Mithraeum in Hebrew, its founder who 00:06:41.03\00:06:43.80 happens to be Noah's grandson. 00:06:43.90\00:06:45.83 So what happened after the event at Babel? 00:06:45.93\00:06:49.20 The people spread out across the world 00:06:49.30\00:06:51.51 into family and language groups. 00:06:51.61\00:06:53.81 Some had knowledge of city building 00:06:53.91\00:06:55.71 and took that knowledge to build cities of their own. 00:06:55.81\00:06:58.98 We see evidence of this all around the world, 00:06:59.08\00:07:01.85 with ziggurats, pyramids, and mounds 00:07:01.95\00:07:04.32 being replicated as far away as South America. 00:07:04.42\00:07:08.32 Others probably took a more nomadic lifestyle for a while 00:07:08.42\00:07:11.93 as they spread out. 00:07:12.03\00:07:13.23 Eventually, they would have begun planting and raising 00:07:13.33\00:07:15.76 animals. 00:07:15.86\00:07:16.80 And then, they would have built cities. 00:07:16.90\00:07:19.23 This progression of human expansion after Babel 00:07:19.33\00:07:22.50 matches what secular archaeologists find 00:07:22.60\00:07:25.14 in the record of human development, 00:07:25.24\00:07:27.48 only this development happened after Babel and not 00:07:27.58\00:07:30.85 over a few hundred thousand years. 00:07:30.95\00:07:34.35 Also, there could have been some uneasiness 00:07:34.45\00:07:36.92 about building large cities because 00:07:37.02\00:07:38.99 of what happened at Babel. 00:07:39.09\00:07:40.99 This would have kept some cultures 00:07:41.09\00:07:42.56 more nomadic like the Native Americans. 00:07:42.66\00:07:45.96 Early on, some would have sought shelter in caves 00:07:46.06\00:07:49.26 and made homes there. 00:07:49.36\00:07:50.90 This is where the idea of cavemen could have come from. 00:07:51.00\00:07:54.10 They were merely people living in caves. 00:07:54.20\00:07:56.54 Some people still live in caves today. 00:07:56.64\00:07:59.21 And they have satellite TV, too. 00:07:59.31\00:08:02.14 Around this time, the Ice Age would have started up 00:08:02.24\00:08:05.08 in full force, causing the spreading out of man 00:08:05.18\00:08:08.35 on the earth to be stunted in far northern regions. 00:08:08.45\00:08:11.62 But it still happened. 00:08:11.72\00:08:13.76 Ultimately, God used Babel to accomplish his purposes. 00:08:13.86\00:08:18.79 And from that dispersion, we get all of the amazing people 00:08:18.89\00:08:22.30 groups and languages we see today. 00:08:22.40\00:08:24.63 You can go around the world today and see 00:08:29.34\00:08:31.51 many different types of people. 00:08:31.61\00:08:33.74 From Oriental to African to South American to European, 00:08:33.84\00:08:38.45 the diversity is amazing, yet everyone is still human. 00:08:38.55\00:08:45.55 In 1859, Darwin wrote The Origin of Species with the subtitle, 00:08:45.65\00:08:50.59 By Means of Natural Selection or The Preservation 00:08:50.69\00:08:54.13 of Favored Races in the Struggle for Life. 00:08:54.23\00:08:58.13 Darwin encouraged the thought that some races were 00:08:58.23\00:09:01.20 more favored than others and that different races evolved 00:09:01.30\00:09:04.97 at different times and rates. 00:09:05.07\00:09:07.71 Darwin expounded this in his second book, 00:09:07.81\00:09:10.55 The Descent of Man. 00:09:10.65\00:09:12.38 For instance, Australian Aborigines 00:09:12.48\00:09:15.02 were considered a type of missing 00:09:15.12\00:09:16.92 link between ape-like ancestors and the rest of mankind. 00:09:17.02\00:09:20.72 They were hunted down and killed because 00:09:20.82\00:09:23.43 of the evolutionary philosophy. 00:09:23.53\00:09:25.99 After years of research, scientists 00:09:26.09\00:09:28.40 now tell us that biologically speaking, 00:09:28.50\00:09:31.23 there is only one race of humans. 00:09:31.33\00:09:34.04 Their previous evolutionary view of race was wrong, 00:09:34.14\00:09:37.67 and what they viewed as race was actually a social construct. 00:09:37.77\00:09:41.91 And it tends to be more cultural, 00:09:42.01\00:09:44.31 meaning we are mainly separated by language, 00:09:44.41\00:09:47.22 skin tone, and facial features. 00:09:47.32\00:09:50.15 Different races have been used by totalitarian regimes 00:09:50.25\00:09:54.19 and companies to exterminate large groups of people, 00:09:54.29\00:09:57.43 such as Hitler's Germany towards the Jews, Poles, Africans, and 00:09:57.53\00:10:02.70 Slavs, as well as Planned Parenthood's 00:10:02.80\00:10:05.93 early racist attack on dark-skinned African-Americans. 00:10:06.03\00:10:10.47 Human genome mapping has shown us 00:10:10.57\00:10:12.57 that there is only one race, the human race. 00:10:12.67\00:10:15.78 And instead of using the word races, 00:10:15.88\00:10:18.35 we should use the term people groups. 00:10:18.45\00:10:21.48 The Bible does not even use the word race. 00:10:21.58\00:10:24.35 The Bible describes human beings as one blood, 00:10:24.45\00:10:28.02 basically saying we are all descendants 00:10:28.12\00:10:30.43 of the first man, Adam. 00:10:30.53\00:10:33.06 Human biological variation is only about 00:10:33.16\00:10:36.23 point 0.012%, making racial differences absolutely trivial, 00:10:36.33\00:10:41.24 because there is more difference genetically between any two 00:10:41.34\00:10:44.74 people than this small fraction. 00:10:44.84\00:10:47.18 The differences between us are not race, 00:10:47.28\00:10:50.08 but culture, yet we've been taught 00:10:50.18\00:10:52.58 that the differences between us are race. 00:10:52.68\00:10:56.55 The major difference between skin tone 00:10:56.65\00:10:58.69 is the amount of melanin in our skin. 00:10:58.79\00:11:01.79 In addition, albinism, sunburns, and genetic defects 00:11:01.89\00:11:05.79 also affect the color of skin as well. 00:11:05.89\00:11:09.03 There are two main forms of melanin, 00:11:09.13\00:11:11.53 eumelanin, which is brown to black, 00:11:11.63\00:11:14.14 and pheomelanin, which is red to yellow. 00:11:14.24\00:11:17.34 This makes up about 16 different shades of skin color 00:11:17.44\00:11:20.98 and every combination in between. 00:11:21.08\00:11:23.81 No matter what our shade of skin is, 00:11:23.91\00:11:25.98 we all have approximately the same concentration 00:11:26.08\00:11:28.98 of melanocytes in our bodies. 00:11:29.08\00:11:31.85 From the DNA of our parents, we get all of our characteristics, 00:11:31.95\00:11:35.99 including skin color. 00:11:36.09\00:11:37.89 No new genetic information is generated at conception. 00:11:37.99\00:11:41.30 But a new combination of already existing genetic information 00:11:41.40\00:11:45.50 is formed. 00:11:45.60\00:11:47.07 There are dominant and recessive genes. 00:11:47.17\00:11:49.87 And from these genes, we get all of our characteristics. 00:11:49.97\00:11:54.31 Usually, we get our characteristics 00:11:54.41\00:11:56.38 from the dominant genes of our parents. 00:11:56.48\00:11:58.55 But there is no universal mechanism 00:11:58.65\00:12:01.02 by which dominant and recessive genes act. 00:12:01.12\00:12:04.09 In other words, it's hard to predict which genes you'll get. 00:12:04.19\00:12:08.36 The point is, you can get a great difference in your skin 00:12:08.46\00:12:11.89 tone if your parents have great variations in their skin tone. 00:12:11.99\00:12:16.23 These genes might also cause a brother and sister 00:12:16.33\00:12:18.83 to have different skin tone, such as darker 00:12:18.93\00:12:21.44 or lighter, especially if the parents are 00:12:21.54\00:12:24.04 different skin toned. 00:12:24.14\00:12:26.17 But we also see the different skin 00:12:26.27\00:12:28.44 colored people favor warmer or cooler climates. 00:12:28.54\00:12:31.98 Why? 00:12:32.08\00:12:33.55 It has been estimated by creation scientists 00:12:33.65\00:12:36.42 that Noah and his children were likely 00:12:36.52\00:12:38.75 middle brown in their skin color, 00:12:38.85\00:12:41.06 from which we get all the shades of the world. 00:12:41.16\00:12:44.26 In fact, in just one generation, they 00:12:44.36\00:12:47.03 could have produced all of the skin colors of the world. 00:12:47.13\00:12:51.57 The Tower of Babel would have dispersed the family groups 00:12:51.67\00:12:54.87 by different languages. 00:12:54.97\00:12:57.04 They split apart, going their own way, 00:12:57.14\00:12:59.47 finding different places to live. 00:12:59.57\00:13:01.94 The Bible tells us that they scattered over the whole Earth. 00:13:02.04\00:13:05.91 Because of the new language and geographic barriers, 00:13:06.01\00:13:09.68 people groups didn't mix with each other so much, 00:13:09.78\00:13:12.59 creating a splitting of the gene pool. 00:13:12.69\00:13:15.59 Different cultures formed with certain features 00:13:15.69\00:13:18.36 becoming predominant in each group, 00:13:18.46\00:13:20.76 simply because that is what their direct ancestors had 00:13:20.86\00:13:24.37 coming out of Babel. 00:13:24.47\00:13:25.90 Real science in the present fits with the biblical view 00:13:26.00\00:13:29.37 that we are all closely related, that there is only one race 00:13:29.47\00:13:32.87 biologically, and that they all came 00:13:32.97\00:13:35.68 from one man and one woman. 00:13:35.78\00:13:37.41 This program is brought to you by Another area of study with compelling evidence 00:14:29.33\00:14:31.93 for the biblical account is linguistics, 00:14:32.03\00:14:34.50 or the study of languages. 00:14:34.60\00:14:37.07 There are over 6,900 spoken languages in the world today, 00:14:37.17\00:14:42.08 yet the number of languages emerging from Babel 00:14:42.18\00:14:44.98 would have been much less than this, 00:14:45.08\00:14:46.72 as few as 100 different original language families. 00:14:46.82\00:14:51.19 Linguists recognize that most languages have similarities 00:14:51.29\00:14:54.72 to other languages. 00:14:54.82\00:14:56.12 Related languages belong to what are called language families, 00:14:56.22\00:15:00.10 of which, there are about 100. 00:15:00.20\00:15:03.03 Some can be grouped into Latin, Greek, Slavic, Hindic, Asian, 00:15:03.13\00:15:09.50 Germanic, West African, and Arabian. 00:15:09.60\00:15:13.31 Then there are languages that have been mixed together 00:15:13.41\00:15:16.31 throughout history, such as Afrikaans 00:15:16.41\00:15:18.75 in South Africa, or even English, 00:15:18.85\00:15:21.15 which is a mixture of German-based language 00:15:21.25\00:15:23.62 and Latin French Norman-based language. 00:15:23.72\00:15:26.32 Since Babel around 4,200 years ago, 00:15:26.42\00:15:29.42 the original language families have grown and changed 00:15:29.52\00:15:32.66 into the vast number of languages we see today. 00:15:32.76\00:15:36.43 Language is also one of the main characteristics separating us 00:15:36.53\00:15:40.47 from animals. 00:15:40.57\00:15:41.87 Secular linguists can't explain how so many languages formed. 00:15:41.97\00:15:46.27 But they believe alleged human ancestors 00:15:46.37\00:15:48.74 began developing language 30,000 to 100,000 years ago 00:15:48.84\00:15:53.28 through an evolutionary process. 00:15:53.38\00:15:56.05 But in reality, secular linguists 00:15:56.15\00:15:58.39 have no idea where half of the languages came from 00:15:58.49\00:16:01.66 and how far back they developed. 00:16:01.76\00:16:04.66 The amount of languages and kinds of languages are complex. 00:16:04.76\00:16:09.06 This is why the evolutionist has such a hard time explaining 00:16:09.16\00:16:12.93 how they formed. 00:16:13.03\00:16:14.30 But according to the Bible, God created man. 00:16:14.40\00:16:17.74 He has the power to inject new languages 00:16:17.84\00:16:20.31 into the brain at Babel. 00:16:20.41\00:16:22.41 Evolution can't explain where language came from, 00:16:22.51\00:16:26.01 but the Bible can. 00:16:26.11\00:16:28.68 Even if we were there at Babel when God divided the people 00:16:28.78\00:16:31.85 by language, we probably would have 00:16:31.95\00:16:33.66 had no idea it was by God's supernatural power. 00:16:33.76\00:16:37.56 Again, it's the Bible giving us insight 00:16:37.66\00:16:40.20 into what really happened. 00:16:40.30\00:16:42.50 2 Timothy 3:16 tells us that "all scripture 00:16:42.60\00:16:46.23 is God-breathed," meaning that God 00:16:46.33\00:16:48.34 spoke through men like Moses to tell about the history of man 00:16:48.44\00:16:52.47 and what God did in the past. 00:16:52.57\00:16:55.28 We can trust that it's the true history of Earth. 00:16:55.38\00:16:58.98 God's plan at Babel was to spread out man over the earth, 00:16:59.08\00:17:02.98 dividing the people by language, to thwart 00:17:03.08\00:17:05.65 their sinful rebellion. 00:17:05.75\00:17:07.42 And it happened. 00:17:07.52\00:17:09.56 His wisdom of what to do was perfect. 00:17:09.66\00:17:12.33 And it remains perfect in every situation. 00:17:12.43\00:17:14.73 After studying the scriptures and seeing 00:17:19.70\00:17:21.77 how languages developed, let's go back to Mesa Verde. 00:17:21.87\00:17:25.97 As we study this area, we must first 00:17:26.07\00:17:28.41 ask, how would Native Americans get 00:17:28.51\00:17:30.95 to North America after the flood all from eight 00:17:31.05\00:17:33.98 people off the ark? 00:17:34.08\00:17:36.32 We've seen how the Tower of Babel 00:17:36.42\00:17:38.19 separated the people into groups, probably 00:17:38.29\00:17:41.02 along the lines of Noah's sons. 00:17:41.12\00:17:43.53 The Tower of Babel was in Mesopotamia, in Asia. 00:17:43.63\00:17:47.13 And from there, they spread out. 00:17:47.23\00:17:49.83 As a general trend, Japheth's descendants went toward Europe 00:17:49.93\00:17:53.50 in North Asia, Ham's went towards Africa and the Middle 00:17:53.60\00:17:56.77 East, and Shem's mainly kept in the Middle East and Far East. 00:17:56.87\00:18:00.88 Although, there are some exceptions 00:18:00.98\00:18:02.78 to this in each line. 00:18:02.88\00:18:04.55 So where do the Anasazi people go after Mesa Verde and Chaco 00:18:04.55\00:18:09.05 canyon? 00:18:09.15\00:18:10.22 The Aztecs, according to their own legends, 00:18:10.32\00:18:12.95 departed from a region in the north called [? chicomoztok, ?] 00:18:13.05\00:18:16.73 a region that is today the areas of Texas, Oklahoma, 00:18:16.83\00:18:20.70 and New Mexico. 00:18:20.80\00:18:22.33 They reached the valley of Mexico in the 12th century AD. 00:18:22.43\00:18:25.87 So the Anasazi went south. 00:18:25.97\00:18:28.67 Their language, Nahuatl, was linguistically related 00:18:28.77\00:18:32.11 to other native language groups throughout the United States 00:18:32.21\00:18:35.24 southwest and northern Mexico. 00:18:35.34\00:18:38.21 Linguists note, for instance, the Shoshone language 00:18:38.31\00:18:41.38 in the Utah-Nevada region was understood by all the tribes 00:18:41.48\00:18:44.85 from Mexico without difficulty. 00:18:44.95\00:18:47.56 It has been found that the Anasazi were related 00:18:47.66\00:18:50.46 to modern tribes, including the Paiute, Hopi, Pima, 00:18:50.56\00:18:54.83 Yaqui Apache, [inaudible] Kiowa, and Mayos. 00:18:54.93\00:18:59.37 In addition, Catholic missionaries in the 1850s 00:18:59.47\00:19:02.84 established the fact that all the people 00:19:02.94\00:19:05.34 of the ancient southwest and Mexico 00:19:05.44\00:19:07.91 were of one language family. 00:19:08.01\00:19:10.15 Yet, while there are other examples of language 00:19:10.25\00:19:12.88 similarities, studies of the native languages 00:19:12.98\00:19:15.62 of the Americas have shown them to be extremely diverse, 00:19:15.72\00:19:19.42 representing nearly 200 distinct families, some consisting 00:19:19.52\00:19:23.39 of a single isolated language. 00:19:23.49\00:19:26.06 These other tribes would have occupied areas outside 00:19:26.16\00:19:29.20 of the Anasazi and Aztec regions, 00:19:29.30\00:19:31.60 showing the diversity and growth of languages since Babel. 00:19:31.70\00:19:35.37 As we study the story of man on Earth, one thing becomes clear. 00:19:40.48\00:19:44.78 The biblical account matches what 00:19:44.88\00:19:46.78 we find in the archaeological record much better 00:19:46.88\00:19:49.78 than man evolving over hundreds of thousands of years. 00:19:49.88\00:19:53.59 The Table of Nations matches what 00:19:53.69\00:19:55.69 we find in genealogies, and in cultures throughout the world. 00:19:55.79\00:20:00.60 The development of languages is a mystery to evolutionists. 00:20:00.70\00:20:04.10 But the Tower of Babel matches what 00:20:04.20\00:20:06.53 we find in archeology, a sudden explosion of culture 00:20:06.63\00:20:11.11 and language. 00:20:11.21\00:20:13.04 The movement of man across the Earth from the starting point 00:20:13.14\00:20:16.41 of Mesopotamia matches what we find in scripture, 00:20:16.51\00:20:19.61 from the story of Noah's flood and the Tower of Babel. 00:20:19.71\00:20:23.42 According to Genesis 3, Adam and Eve were the first to sin. 00:20:23.52\00:20:27.62 In Noah's day, man's rebellion against their Creator 00:20:27.72\00:20:30.63 had gotten so bad that God destroyed the entire Earth 00:20:30.73\00:20:34.93 in a flood. 00:20:35.00\00:20:36.20 Even then, man still wouldn't obey God 00:20:36.30\00:20:39.10 to spread out across the Earth. 00:20:39.20\00:20:41.47 So he confused their languages. 00:20:41.57\00:20:44.64 Over and over, we see in the Bible 00:20:44.74\00:20:46.81 that God is patient with man's rebellion. 00:20:46.91\00:20:49.44 But he won't let sin continue forever. 00:20:49.54\00:20:52.31 Even today, people around the world 00:20:52.41\00:20:55.15 rebel against their Creator. 00:20:55.25\00:20:57.35 They would rather deny that there is a God 00:20:57.45\00:21:00.06 and follow their own sin. 00:21:00.16\00:21:02.86 The Bible says that our rebellion against God 00:21:02.96\00:21:05.89 deserves death and eternal separation from him. 00:21:05.99\00:21:09.80 God knew this. 00:21:09.90\00:21:11.00 So he provided a way to save us from death. 00:21:11.10\00:21:14.20 Someone had to pay the punishment for our rebellion. 00:21:14.30\00:21:17.84 Romans 6:23 says that "the wages of sin is death, 00:21:17.94\00:21:21.58 but the gift of God is eternal life 00:21:21.68\00:21:24.01 through Jesus Christ, our Lord." 00:21:24.11\00:21:25.88 When we were powerless to do anything to save ourselves, 00:21:25.98\00:21:29.02 God loved us so much that he sent his son, Jesus Christ, 00:21:29.12\00:21:32.82 to die in our place, to take the punishment for our rebellion 00:21:32.92\00:21:36.32 and sin. 00:21:36.42\00:21:37.43 Even with this great gift we've been given, 00:21:37.53\00:21:39.86 many around the world have rejected God's grace 00:21:39.96\00:21:43.03 because they love their sin too much. 00:21:43.13\00:21:45.63 They still want to live in rebellion against the Creator. 00:21:45.73\00:21:49.87 God offers every man the chance to repent of his sins 00:21:49.97\00:21:53.68 and turn to Him. 00:21:53.78\00:21:55.08 We are encouraged in the Bible, not to put off this decision, 00:21:55.18\00:21:58.88 but to come back to God today. 00:21:58.98\00:22:01.45 Just like the door of the ark was 00:22:01.55\00:22:03.08 open for a time for anyone who wanted 00:22:03.18\00:22:05.49 to be saved from the flood, the door 00:22:05.59\00:22:07.26 is now open through Jesus Christ to repent 00:22:07.36\00:22:09.99 of our rebellion and sin. 00:22:10.09\00:22:12.16 And just as there was a time when the door of the ark 00:22:12.26\00:22:15.20 was sealed, the opportunity to come to God won't last forever. 00:22:15.30\00:22:19.77 Even though he loves his creation, 00:22:19.87\00:22:21.84 he cannot let sin and rebellion continue indefinitely. 00:22:21.94\00:22:25.91 His judgement on man will eventually happen. 00:22:26.01\00:22:28.68 And those who do not turn to Jesus 00:22:28.78\00:22:30.75 will be separated from God forever. 00:22:30.85\00:22:33.85 If you have not humbled yourself, repented 00:22:33.95\00:22:36.32 of your sins, and turned your heart to Him, 00:22:36.42\00:22:38.99 then we invite you to do so today. 00:22:39.09\00:22:40.82 Mesa Verde, the Chaco Ruins, and Aztec Ruins 00:22:45.83\00:22:48.96 remind us that a once thriving culture 00:22:49.06\00:22:51.40 used to live in the Southwest. 00:22:51.50\00:22:53.44 But they mysteriously disappeared, 00:22:53.54\00:22:55.44 and meshed into other cultures, particularly to the south. 00:22:55.54\00:23:00.08 The Bible gives us good information 00:23:00.18\00:23:02.18 about how the nations were formed after the flood, 00:23:02.28\00:23:05.21 and how many nations can be traced back 00:23:05.31\00:23:07.85 to Noah's three sons. 00:23:07.95\00:23:10.09 The dispersion of man from Babel by the confusion 00:23:10.19\00:23:12.92 of their languages gives us an idea 00:23:13.02\00:23:14.96 of how God caused man to move out from the Middle East 00:23:15.06\00:23:18.23 into the rest of the world. 00:23:18.33\00:23:20.36 The Bible also gives us clues about why cultures come and go. 00:23:20.46\00:23:24.30 In the book of Jeremiah, God says, 00:23:24.40\00:23:26.43 "the instant I speak concerning a nation 00:23:26.53\00:23:28.97 and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, to pull down, 00:23:29.07\00:23:32.44 and to destroy it, if that nation against whom 00:23:32.54\00:23:35.28 I have spoken turns from its evil, 00:23:35.38\00:23:37.18 I will relent of the disaster that I 00:23:37.28\00:23:39.48 thought to bring upon it." 00:23:39.58\00:23:41.42 God is in charge of building and tearing down nations. 00:23:41.52\00:23:44.99 And it's all tied into a nation's heart towards God. 00:23:45.09\00:23:49.06 If a nation honors him, then he will bless them. 00:23:49.16\00:23:51.96 However, if a nation rebels against him, 00:23:52.06\00:23:54.56 then he will destroy it. 00:23:54.63\00:23:56.36 We don't know much about ancient cultures in the Southwest. 00:23:56.46\00:23:59.87 But archaeologists indicate that they worship the creation, 00:24:00.04\00:24:03.41 rather than the Creator. 00:24:03.51\00:24:05.37 Based on scripture, God would not 00:24:05.47\00:24:07.21 have blessed this nation of ancient Americans. 00:24:07.31\00:24:10.11 He would have sought to destroy and disperse them 00:24:10.21\00:24:12.51 because of their rebellion. 00:24:12.61\00:24:14.42 And this is exactly what we find about this culture. 00:24:14.52\00:24:18.15 We know from scripture that God controls the weather.
