As Seventh-day Adventists
we have believed in prophecy,

And we believe that
prophecy is a great evidence

of God moving in the world.

We believe, in fact, that
the Seventh-day Adventist Church

is a movement of
Bible prophecy, yes?

And we believe that at the
very center of Bible prophecy,

at the very core of
every prophecy in Daniel

and Revelation,
we find Jesus. Amen?

Jesus is the
center of all prophecy,
00:13:19.13\00:13:21.63
He's the climax of all prophecy,
00:13:21.66\00:13:23.60
He is the
epitome of all prophecy,
00:13:23.63\00:13:26.03
He is the focus of all prophecy.
00:13:26.07\00:13:27.80
Is it not true?

We believe that tonight.
00:13:29.20\00:13:30.54
Now the Bible tells us,
there are many prophecies
00:13:30.57\00:13:32.74
in the Bible, and there
is one very specific prophecy
00:13:32.77\00:13:36.11
that we're going to look at
tonight very, very detailedly
00:13:36.14\00:13:39.98
in Daniel 7:8.
00:13:40.02\00:13:42.18
Many of you are
familiar with this.
00:13:42.38\00:13:43.79
And in much of the presentation
tonight, I'm going to take
00:13:43.99\00:13:46.62
the liberty to assume that
most of our viewers this evening
00:13:46.65\00:13:50.56
are at least familiar
with these prophecies.
00:13:51.16\00:13:53.90
You've probably seen
them on 3ABN or you've
00:13:53.93\00:13:55.76
studied them somewhere.
00:13:55.80\00:13:57.13
But in Daniel 7:8, it
describes the antichrist power
00:13:57.17\00:14:01.44
of Bible prophecy.
00:14:01.47\00:14:02.80
And the verse reads, "I
was considering the horns,
00:14:02.84\00:14:05.07
and there was another horn,
00:14:05.11\00:14:06.54
a little one,
coming up among them...
00:14:06.57\00:14:09.11
And there, in this horn, were
eyes like the eyes of a man,
00:14:09.14\00:14:12.78
and a mouth
speaking pompous words."
00:14:12.81\00:14:15.22
This little horn power,
Bible scholars have agreed,
00:14:15.25\00:14:18.25
describes the antichrist
power of the end times.
00:14:18.29\00:14:21.92
Now if you look at the Bible, if
you look at the whole chapter,
00:14:21.96\00:14:24.56
which is what I'm
taking the liberty that you've
00:14:24.59\00:14:26.49
already done, you
find ten identifying points
00:14:26.53\00:14:29.90
that describe this power.
00:14:30.13\00:14:32.10
And as you go through
them one by one, you find
00:14:32.20\00:14:34.87
that these ten identifying
points can point to none other
00:14:34.90\00:14:38.87
than the Roman
Catholic Church, or the Vatican.
00:14:38.97\00:14:42.34
And this is a prominent teaching
of the Protestant faith.
00:14:42.44\00:14:47.35
Now I want to make sure
that everyone understands
00:14:47.45\00:14:50.15
and knows here that
we are not talking about
00:14:50.19\00:14:52.82
good godly Roman
Catholic people. Amen?
00:14:52.85\00:14:56.02
There are many of our
Roman Catholic friends
00:14:56.32\00:14:58.46
that are watching
3ABN, and we love them
00:14:58.49\00:15:01.40
and appreciate them.
00:15:01.43\00:15:02.76
But we are talking about a
system that Bible prophecy,
00:15:02.80\00:15:05.73
God Himself, reveals and
points out in the prophecy.
00:15:05.77\00:15:09.60
You know, many of
the ancient reformers
00:15:09.70\00:15:12.37
also held this viewpoint.
00:15:12.57\00:15:15.08
Martin Luther, there were
many, the Waldenses, John Huss,
00:15:16.08\00:15:20.82
John Wycliffe, John Calvin,
John Wesley, Charles Spurgeon.
00:15:20.85\00:15:25.09
and many more.
00:15:25.12\00:15:26.45
In fact, I have a statement
here tonight from Martin Luther.
00:15:26.49\00:15:29.66
And he makes the point, he
says, "We are convinced that the
00:15:29.69\00:15:33.03
papacy is the seat of the
real and true antichrist..."
00:15:33.06\00:15:36.90
Now John Calvin,
who is another reformer,
00:15:43.71\00:15:47.84
had some strong words to say.
00:15:47.88\00:15:49.41
Because many of the reformers
drew criticism for attacking,
00:15:49.44\00:15:52.51
not attacking, but
pointing out from the Bible
00:15:52.71\00:15:54.92
that the papacy
was the antichrist.
00:15:54.95\00:15:56.62
And notice what he says.
00:15:56.65\00:15:57.99
And indeed, the
verses in Thessalonians
00:16:23.85\00:16:26.95
that John Calvin is referring to
say this, 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4,
00:16:27.05\00:16:33.36
it says, "Let no man
deceive you by any means;
00:16:33.39\00:16:36.79
for that Day shall not
come except there come a
00:16:36.96\00:16:40.36
falling away first, and
that man of sin be revealed,
00:16:40.40\00:16:43.77
the son of perdition..."
00:16:43.80\00:16:45.13
It continues and says, "...who
opposes and exalts himself
00:16:45.17\00:16:48.30
above all that is called
God, or that is worshiped;
00:16:48.34\00:16:50.77
so that he sits as
God in the temple of God,
00:16:50.87\00:16:53.38
showing himself that he is God."
00:16:53.48\00:16:56.11
And that word, "temple," there
in the Greek actually means
00:16:56.21\00:16:59.68
that he would sit in
the midst of the church,
00:16:59.71\00:17:02.05
or the people of God,
proclaiming himself to be God.
00:17:02.08\00:17:05.72
Well those are some
pretty strong accusations,
00:17:05.75\00:17:08.92
are they not, some
pretty strong words to say that
00:17:08.96\00:17:12.09
those apply to the Roman papacy.
00:17:12.13\00:17:13.86
So what we're going to do
tonight is we're going to ask
00:17:13.90\00:17:16.06
the Roman papacy what
they themselves proclaim
00:17:16.10\00:17:19.63
about themselves,
about the pope himself.
00:17:19.67\00:17:22.17
Do they proclaim him
or perceive him to be God?
00:17:22.20\00:17:24.57
Let's ask that question.

From the Catholic

notice this statement.

Now do they make the
claim that the pope is just

more than a man, yes or no?

They claim that he is the
literal Christ in the flesh.

That's what the
church proclaims.

Now this is why many of
the Protestant reformers

made such a claim.

And this is why
Seventh-day Adventists

have continued in that
tradition of pointing this out.

Now if you would have walked
into any Christian denomination

a hundred or so years ago,
whether it had been Baptist,

or Methodist, or Presbyterian,
or any of the others,

you would have heard
this message being preached.

And yet today much of the
world is silent, are they not?

Now once again, I want to remind
us that we're not talking about
00:18:19.89\00:18:23.06
good Roman Catholic people.
00:18:23.10\00:18:24.50
But we're talking
about a system, yes?
00:18:24.53\00:18:27.24
A system of error that the
Bible says in the last days
00:18:27.27\00:18:30.71
would be promoting error.
00:18:30.74\00:18:32.87
Now in Revelation chapter 13,
you also find this very element.

You find it both
in Daniel chapter 7
00:18:40.68\00:18:43.45
and again in
Revelation chapter 13.
00:18:43.49\00:18:46.15
Now I'm not
going to take the time
00:18:46.39\00:18:48.12
to go through the whole thing.
00:18:48.16\00:18:49.49
I assume that you
have had this before.
00:18:49.52\00:18:51.23
But I do want
to jump to verse 3.
00:18:51.33\00:18:53.09
And the Bible says, "I
saw one of his heads as if it
00:18:53.40\00:18:57.17
had been mortally wounded,
and his deadly wound was healed.
00:18:57.20\00:19:01.04
And all the world marveled
and followed the beast."
00:19:01.07\00:19:04.47
Very interesting, yes or no?
00:19:04.51\00:19:06.14
Now this is describing
the rule of the papacy,
00:19:06.24\00:19:09.51
the prophetic rule of
the papacy, and they would
00:19:09.54\00:19:12.11
rule for 1260 years.

I'm taking, I'm jumping very
deep and very quick into this.
00:19:14.35\00:19:19.45
But if you look at the timeline,
a very interesting timeline,

I have it here
for you on the screen,

we find that the
Roman Catholic Church...

And their power was broken.
00:19:35.70\00:19:37.54
They were dealt a deadly
wound, as the Bible says.

But then their deadly
wound would be healed.
00:19:42.44\00:19:44.71
And that wound was issued
in 1798 when their power was
00:19:44.75\00:19:48.35
broken by Napoleon.
00:19:48.38\00:19:50.09
You can find that in

and Revelation 13
all the way through.

It's very, very powerful.

So the Bible tells us
that their deadly wound

would then be healed.

Now it's a very
interesting fact of history

that from 1798 all the
way into the early 1900's

the papacy
basically laid dormant.

But in 1929 a very significant,
and I believe prophetic,

event took place in
the history of our world

when Benito Mussolini, who
was the president of Italy,
00:20:17.58\00:20:21.38
signed a peace treaty
with the Roman Catholic Church
00:20:21.42\00:20:24.92
re-instating the Vatican
and re-instating the pope
00:20:25.12\00:20:28.99
as the supreme
political and religious ruler.
00:20:29.02\00:20:32.09
I believe, friends,
that was not by chance.
00:20:32.19\00:20:36.16
How many of you believe that?

Now there's a beautiful
article that was written in 1929

in the San Francisco Chronicle.

And I want you to notice
