Keith, Keith, Keith. 00:03:13.59\00:03:15.32 There he is, sitting there. He is a Bermudian. 00:03:15.36\00:03:18.13 And he spent some time in the wilderness. 00:03:18.16\00:03:20.46 And 3ABN was instrumental in his return. 00:03:20.50\00:03:22.90 We had a chance to talk. 00:03:22.93\00:03:24.27 And Vonne sitting right there in front of me, 00:03:24.30\00:03:25.87 also she mentioned to me. 00:03:25.90\00:03:27.24 And there was someone else here who 3ABN was sort of 00:03:27.27\00:03:30.47 instrumental in coming back to the Lord. 00:03:30.51\00:03:33.21 And we love to hear those stories. 00:03:33.24\00:03:35.04 Because it lets us know that we're fulfilling God's mission 00:03:35.08\00:03:38.01 to encourage those who are in the faith, 00:03:38.68\00:03:41.65 but also to go out and reach those who are not in the faith. 00:03:41.68\00:03:44.45 And that is a blessing to us. 00:03:44.49\00:03:46.09 Got a chance to meet Peter all the way from Australia. 00:03:46.12\00:03:48.99 Married an American girl and she dragged him all the way from 00:03:49.02\00:03:51.73 Perth in western Australia here to Phoenix, Arizona. 00:03:51.76\00:03:55.33 So that was fun also. 00:03:55.36\00:03:58.37 What a wonderful congregation you have, Pastor. 00:03:58.40\00:04:00.44 And it has been a pleasure for us to be here, 00:04:00.47\00:04:02.74 and a pleasure for us to get to know some of you. 00:04:02.77\00:04:05.77 I'm going to ask Pastor to come and have our 00:04:06.51\00:04:10.05 prayer for this afternoon. 00:04:10.08\00:04:11.51 Then after he shall have prayed, we get the 00:04:11.91\00:04:14.82 other half of the duo. 00:04:14.92\00:04:16.42 His lovely wife, Ginger, will sing for us, 00:04:16.45\00:04:18.99 let's see, The Body and Blood. 00:04:19.75\00:04:21.89 And then the next voice you will hear will be that of 00:04:22.19\00:04:24.79 our speaker, our friend, Dr. Ralph Ringer, 00:04:24.83\00:04:27.80 who is the Director of North American Division 00:04:27.83\00:04:30.63 Jewish Ministries. 00:04:30.67\00:04:32.00 He's going to be speaking on, God's Covenant Completed. 00:04:32.03\00:04:36.40 And we praise God for that. 00:04:36.60\00:04:38.07 Pastor. 00:04:38.11\00:04:39.44 Shall we pray. 00:04:39.94\00:04:41.28 Loving Father, You are our God. 00:04:41.91\00:04:45.38 You're the God of the universe, and You know our name. 00:04:46.45\00:04:50.79 We thank You for doing all that You do for each of us. 00:04:51.99\00:04:55.49 We do not know what we would do without the Holy Spirit 00:04:57.33\00:05:01.53 guiding us each day, each moment. 00:05:02.53\00:05:06.00 So we thank You for the Holy Spirit guiding us. 00:05:06.87\00:05:10.71 Now we pray that as we continue the message for the Jewish work, 00:05:11.44\00:05:18.11 we pray that they too around the world 00:05:18.15\00:05:21.68 will hear this message some way. 00:05:21.72\00:05:23.89 You know the way in which they need to hear it. 00:05:24.62\00:05:28.02 So may it be visible to them all. 00:05:28.56\00:05:31.49 Again we thank You for Jesus, 00:05:32.06\00:05:34.26 that He died that we may have eternal life. 00:05:34.63\00:05:37.27 So today bless us and keep us. 00:05:37.97\00:05:41.10 In Jesus name I pray, amen. 00:05:41.14\00:05:44.51 Fifty year ago today she gave her only child away 00:06:09.93\00:06:18.27 to live a life easy to regret. 00:06:18.31\00:06:25.38 Years went by, how time has flown, 00:06:26.92\00:06:30.59 her days are mostly spent alone; 00:06:30.79\00:06:34.72 daring to remember, hoping to forget. 00:06:34.76\00:06:44.53 This is My body broken for you; 00:06:48.94\00:06:57.45 for all you've been, and all you've been through. 00:06:57.71\00:07:05.25 And this is My blood; 00:07:08.56\00:07:14.96 and when you've reached the end, 00:07:15.00\00:07:21.70 I promise you again the body and blood. 00:07:21.90\00:07:31.88 He fought a war against his will; 00:07:40.62\00:07:45.13 truth be known, he's fighting still. 00:07:45.16\00:07:49.36 He looks for hope through narrow blood-shot eyes. 00:07:49.40\00:07:55.90 He slips into a polished pew and he lingers for an hour or two; 00:07:57.17\00:08:05.01 sometimes it feels better to sit and cry a while. 00:08:05.41\00:08:15.26 This is My body broken for you; 00:08:19.19\00:08:27.64 for all you've been, and all you've been through. 00:08:27.67\00:08:36.64 This is My blood; 00:08:36.68\00:08:41.02 and when you've reached the end, 00:08:41.05\00:08:47.86 I promise you again the body and blood. 00:08:47.89\00:08:57.83 And one by one we take the common cup, 00:08:58.27\00:09:05.87 and we remember as we lift it up: 00:09:06.47\00:09:16.05 This is My body broken for you; 00:09:16.89\00:09:25.29 for all you've been, and all you've been through. 00:09:26.53\00:09:34.87 This is My blood; 00:09:34.90\00:09:39.57 and when you've reached the end, 00:09:39.61\00:09:46.25 I offer you again the body and blood. 00:09:46.28\00:09:56.02 This is My blood; 00:09:56.29\00:10:00.73 and when you've reached the end, 00:10:00.76\00:10:07.54 I offer you again the body and blood. 00:10:07.90\00:10:17.88 Amen, amen. 00:10:39.70\00:10:42.27 What a beautiful song beautifully sung. 00:10:45.07\00:10:48.04 God's Covenant Completed. 00:10:49.34\00:10:52.55 In this series, we have been looking at the covenant. 00:10:54.12\00:10:59.29 In fact, there were many covenants 00:11:00.32\00:11:02.89 throughout the Scripture. 00:11:02.92\00:11:04.43 And when we look at God's covenant, we want to realize, 00:11:05.36\00:11:10.83 first of all, some definitions of what a covenant is like. 00:11:10.87\00:11:14.30 We're going to see God's covenant is all of the above. 00:11:14.34\00:11:18.81 And I believe we have it on the screen over here. 00:11:20.38\00:11:23.58 It is a league, an alliance, an agreement, 00:11:24.61\00:11:34.49 a promise or promises, a commitment, 00:11:36.12\00:11:42.96 relationship. 00:11:44.53\00:11:46.17 And the ultimate relationship of a marriage. 00:11:47.54\00:11:54.68 God's covenant are all the above. 00:11:56.31\00:11:59.65 God brought a covenant. 00:12:01.58\00:12:03.99 I want us to look, and I want you to take a look at this 00:12:04.02\00:12:07.46 on the screen here. 00:12:07.49\00:12:08.82 Some of you can't see it as well. 00:12:09.02\00:12:11.13 But God's covenant bridges the two creations. 00:12:11.66\00:12:16.97 In fact, the Bible, the first two chapters and the 00:12:18.30\00:12:23.10 last two chapters of the Bible are bookends 00:12:23.14\00:12:27.94 for the covenant in the great controversy. 00:12:29.11\00:12:31.51 Let me share with you why. 00:12:31.55\00:12:32.98 In Genesis chapter 1 and 2, we have God making 00:12:33.01\00:12:38.55 a perfect creation. 00:12:38.59\00:12:40.92 Then in Genesis chapter 3 sin comes in. 00:12:42.52\00:12:45.96 But God starts His covenant right there in Genesis 3:15, 00:12:47.53\00:12:52.67 that He gave that promise. 00:12:52.93\00:12:55.64 He starts that bridge between that first creation 00:12:55.84\00:13:00.28 and the ultimate creation in Revelation chapter 21 00:13:00.31\00:13:05.68 and chapter 22. 00:13:05.71\00:13:07.28 The great controversy starts right there 00:13:07.85\00:13:10.85 in Genesis chapter 3. 00:13:10.89\00:13:12.72 The great controversy on this earth, I'm speaking of. 00:13:12.75\00:13:16.39 And then it goes all the way through to 00:13:17.16\00:13:20.66 Revelation chapter 19 and 20 where God brings an end 00:13:20.70\00:13:26.63 to Satan, sin, and sinners. 00:13:26.67\00:13:30.34 Fast forward to Revelation chapter 21 and chapter 22. 00:13:32.81\00:13:38.31 We find that God makes a new heaven and a new earth. 00:13:39.31\00:13:43.79 The New Jerusalem descents down on earth. 00:13:44.42\00:13:48.42 We have the new earth is actually better than the 00:13:48.92\00:13:54.13 original creation because God's throne is there 00:13:54.16\00:13:58.20 and the New Jerusalem is there. 00:13:58.23\00:14:00.54 The new earth becomes the capital of the universe. 00:14:02.87\00:14:09.01 We have the marriage of the Lamb. 00:14:09.34\00:14:12.05 We have God lives with His people and they see His face. 00:14:13.15\00:14:19.72 We sing the hymn, "Face to face," 00:14:19.95\00:14:22.29 oh wait a minute, "with Christ my Savior." 00:14:22.89\00:14:24.93 We will see Him face to face. 00:14:24.96\00:14:29.73 And God's name is on our foreheads. 00:14:31.40\00:14:36.60 You see, the purpose of the covenant 00:14:37.64\00:14:41.21 is to restore the image of God into fallen mankind. 00:14:41.24\00:14:48.42 And they become His spiritual bride for eternity. 00:14:48.45\00:14:54.76 His name is on their forehead. 00:14:56.22\00:14:58.23 We are His people. 00:14:58.26\00:15:00.30 That's how the covenant ends. 00:15:01.10\00:15:03.50 In fact, all the covenants... 00:15:04.17\00:15:06.50 And so far we've seen various covenants. 00:15:06.94\00:15:12.44 Sasha and Jeff, Alan, have referred to different covenants. 00:15:13.38\00:15:18.55 In fact, some people get hung up on the old covenant, 00:15:19.15\00:15:22.75 on the new covenant, on this covenant. 00:15:22.78\00:15:25.05 And there are many of them throughout the Bible. 00:15:25.09\00:15:27.22 If we could remember one thing, all the covenants, the purpose 00:15:27.26\00:15:32.39 is to someway draw fallen humanity back to God. 00:15:32.43\00:15:37.60 That's the bottom line of all the covenants. 00:15:38.40\00:15:41.87 And that is the ultimate completion. 00:15:42.00\00:15:44.31 But now let's go through and see where God starts His covenants. 00:15:44.34\00:15:48.68 There in the Garden of Eden, the promise. 00:15:48.71\00:15:52.08 Genesis chapter 3 verse 15, "And I will put enmity between 00:15:52.11\00:15:56.65 you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers. 00:15:56.69\00:16:00.99 And He will crush your head, and you will strike His heal." 00:16:01.26\00:16:08.46 Now all these pronouns is basically saying, 00:16:08.96\00:16:12.10 and the woman was the symbol from the very beginning 00:16:12.13\00:16:16.17 of God's people. 00:16:16.20\00:16:17.57 From the Garden of Eden right on through, 00:16:18.51\00:16:21.28 we'll see, through Revelation. 00:16:21.31\00:16:23.71 And so, through the Seed of the woman, 00:16:24.05\00:16:26.31 and that Seed of the woman, this is the first 00:16:26.51\00:16:29.68 Messianic prophecy of the Scripture in Genesis 3:15. 00:16:29.78\00:16:34.69 The promise that... Yeah, Satan... 00:16:34.79\00:16:37.39 The "He" here, that Seed, the "He" that is capitalized 00:16:37.43\00:16:42.40 as you see, that is Jesus crushing the head 00:16:42.43\00:16:47.04 of the serpent who is Satan. 00:16:47.07\00:16:49.64 And even though His heal would be struck, 00:16:51.07\00:16:54.24 He was going to have to face Calvary 00:16:55.08\00:16:57.58 to crush the head of the serpent. 00:16:57.61\00:17:00.55 But here is the first Messianic prophecy. 00:17:00.98\00:17:04.95 In Genesis chapter 9 and verse 16, after the flood, 00:17:05.39\00:17:10.33 we find that here in that verse, it says, 00:17:10.36\00:17:14.10 "The rainbow shall be in the cloud, 00:17:14.13\00:17:16.70 and I will look on it to remember the everlasting 00:17:16.73\00:17:21.70 covenant between God and every living creature 00:17:21.74\00:17:26.24 of all flesh that is on the earth." 00:17:26.98\00:17:30.55 Notice, it is the everlasting covenant. 00:17:30.58\00:17:34.85 God doesn't want a one night stand. 00:17:35.15\00:17:40.42 God doesn't want a temporary relationship. 00:17:40.69\00:17:45.13 He wants an everlasting relationship with us. 00:17:45.46\00:17:49.56 And the everlasting covenant that He gave, 00:17:49.60\00:17:53.47 He doesn't back up on His word. 00:17:53.50\00:17:56.60 Sometimes we back up on our word, 00:17:58.61\00:18:00.81 but He never backs up on His. 00:18:00.84\00:18:03.85 And so what we see... 00:18:04.48\00:18:05.91 Now notice, when it says, "the everlasting covenant 00:18:05.95\00:18:10.49 between God and..." What? 00:18:10.52\00:18:12.79 What does it say? 00:18:13.32\00:18:14.66 "...every living creature..." 00:18:15.19\00:18:17.59 Have you ever realized that God's covenant 00:18:17.63\00:18:19.89 goes beyond mankind to all the animals. 00:18:19.93\00:18:23.06 Sin has brought all the death and the pain, and all the rest, 00:18:23.10\00:18:29.44 on the animals as well as the people on earth. 00:18:29.47\00:18:34.51 God is going to take care of all of His creatures, 00:18:34.64\00:18:39.31 including the animals. 00:18:39.51\00:18:41.32 And He says, "Look, the whole world will never be 00:18:41.58\00:18:44.99 destroyed by a flood again." 00:18:45.02\00:18:46.35 The rainbow is the evidence of that covenant. 00:18:46.62\00:18:51.29 And we still see rainbows today, don't we. 00:18:51.33\00:18:54.43 And so Leviticus chapter 24 verse 8, here is a different 00:18:54.90\00:19:00.60 angle of the covenant. 00:19:00.64\00:19:02.00 The other night, Jeff was pointing out how that 00:19:02.24\00:19:05.14 the Sabbath and those things that are eternal, 00:19:05.24\00:19:07.58 those are the things before sin. 00:19:07.61\00:19:09.58 And the Sabbath, in Genesis chapter 2 verses 1 to 3, 00:19:09.61\00:19:13.18 was given before sin. 00:19:13.21\00:19:14.75 But through the covenants, the Sabbath took on 00:19:14.98\00:19:18.15 an even closer role in the sense that it shows that same God 00:19:18.19\00:19:23.39 that created and that same Sabbath that was given 00:19:23.43\00:19:27.40 at creation as a sign of the relationship 00:19:27.43\00:19:30.33 between God and His people. 00:19:30.37\00:19:33.07 It's precious. 00:19:33.54\00:19:34.87 It's kind of like when you're separated from your spouse 00:19:34.90\00:19:39.11 or your loved one, and that special, whatever special 00:19:39.14\00:19:42.74 symbols or times that you have, even grow a little closer 00:19:42.78\00:19:46.11 as you long to see them. 00:19:46.15\00:19:48.48 And so the Sabbath was given here, it says, 00:19:49.02\00:19:52.12 "Every Sabbath he shall set it in order before the Lord..." 00:19:52.15\00:19:56.26 Talking about special things they were to do on this Sabbath 00:19:56.29\00:19:59.33 to show the relationship that started from the Garden of Eden. 00:19:59.36\00:20:04.17 And being taken from the children of Israel 00:20:04.67\00:20:07.94 by an everlasting covenant. 00:20:07.97\00:20:10.41 Again, here we see the everlasting covenant for Israel. 00:20:10.44\00:20:15.34 That covenant of Israel is not broken by God. 00:20:15.64\00:20:20.92 Some Israelites might go another way, but God 00:20:22.18\00:20:25.95 stays with them for eternity. 00:20:25.99\00:20:28.56 Stays with us eternally. 00:20:28.59\00:20:30.73 We don't have to worry if God loves us, 00:20:30.76\00:20:35.10 if God wants to save us, if He cares about us most. 00:20:35.13\00:20:39.23 Even the very hairs of our heads are numbered. 00:20:39.53\00:20:42.40 You see, God cares and He has covenanted that He's going to go 00:20:42.84\00:20:48.38 with us through eternity. 00:20:48.41\00:20:50.48 And all the covenants, and especially this everlasting 00:20:50.81\00:20:54.88 covenant, that is behind it all. 00:20:54.92\00:20:58.15 And as Sasha so ably pointed out this morning, 00:20:58.35\00:21:01.82 the covenant and atonement are one and the same. 00:21:01.86\00:21:06.59 They are together in this. 00:21:06.63\00:21:09.36 That atonement is the reason for that covenant. 00:21:09.40\00:21:18.94 The atonement; to save mankind. 00:21:18.97\00:21:22.01 As we look on, now we're going to turn. 00:21:24.18\00:21:28.22 God's answer to Daniel's prayer. 00:21:28.55\00:21:32.42 We don't have enough time, I'm just going through 00:21:32.95\00:21:35.59 the things in the Scripture. 00:21:35.62\00:21:36.96 We can't give a detailed description. 00:21:36.99\00:21:39.56 But you remember, Daniel, after he had the vision in 00:21:39.66\00:21:43.10 Daniel 8:14 about the 2300 days, he was thinking 00:21:43.20\00:21:47.14 some way those 70 years of Jeremiah that he understood 00:21:47.17\00:21:51.47 was going to be lengthened. 00:21:51.51\00:21:52.84 He didn't understand. 00:21:52.87\00:21:54.21 In fact, he got sick and he's praying 00:21:54.24\00:21:55.88 for his sins and the sins of Israel. 00:21:55.91\00:21:58.41 And so then we find God's answer to Daniel's prayer 00:21:58.85\00:22:04.65 was the Messiah. 00:22:04.69\00:22:06.15 And when we look, Daniel 9 is all about Jesus Christ 00:22:07.09\00:22:16.26 our Messiah. 00:22:16.67\00:22:18.00 It is the most complete Messianic prophecy 00:22:18.70\00:22:22.84 in the Scriptures. 00:22:22.87\00:22:24.21 And by the way, more Jews have come to accept Jesus 00:22:24.24\00:22:30.55 as their Jewish Messiah from Daniel 9:24-27 00:22:30.58\00:22:38.45 than any other portion of the Bible. 00:22:38.49\00:22:41.76 When we look and understand Daniel 9:24... 00:22:42.99\00:22:48.20 Now I have put, if you look on the screen, 00:22:48.23\00:22:50.70 I have put the numbers in parentheses. 00:22:50.73\00:22:53.90 And sometimes I will change the color of the letters there 00:22:53.94\00:23:00.28 and underline it. 00:23:00.31\00:23:01.64 I won't change the words though. 00:23:01.68\00:23:03.28 In Daniel 9:24 we have, it says, "Seventy weeks are determined 00:23:03.31\00:23:09.48 for your people and for your holy city..." 00:23:09.52\00:23:12.45 So Gabriel was sent from God to tell Daniel 00:23:12.65\00:23:16.46 what this vision of the 2300 days should mean. 00:23:16.49\00:23:21.26 And we are only going to look at the first 70 weeks of that 00:23:21.30\00:23:25.23 just briefly right now. 00:23:25.90\00:23:27.70 But notice those numbers. 00:23:28.00\00:23:30.31 Those numbers, there are six of them here, 00:23:30.84\00:23:33.27 there are six prepositional phrases in Daniel 9:24 00:23:33.31\00:23:38.18 that all apply to the Messiah. 00:23:38.21\00:23:41.92 All the verbs of 9:24 apply to the Messiah in these six. 00:23:41.95\00:23:48.49 And so let's notice, number one, 00:23:48.52\00:23:51.53 "...to finish the transgression..." 00:23:51.56\00:23:53.56 Jesus stopped the rebellion of mankind. 00:23:53.60\00:23:57.40 Sin is a rebellion against God. 00:23:57.43\00:24:00.24 And Jesus was the first one, He stopped that process. 00:24:00.27\00:24:04.81 He was totally in harmony with the Father. 00:24:04.84\00:24:07.64 Number two, "...to make an end of sins..." 00:24:07.68\00:24:10.75 He was the first one to end... 00:24:10.78\00:24:15.58 Any person after Adam and Eve fell, He was the first one 00:24:17.32\00:24:23.12 to live the perfect life. 00:24:23.16\00:24:24.49 He was tempted in all points, and yet without sin. 00:24:24.53\00:24:27.93 Number three, "...to make reconciliation for iniquity..." 00:24:28.23\00:24:32.10 He is the one that reconciles. 00:24:32.13\00:24:34.80 Sin separated God and man. 00:24:34.84\00:24:37.87 And He is the one that died for those sins 00:24:37.91\00:24:41.61 and takes that separation away. 00:24:41.64\00:24:44.08 He reconciles God and mankind. 00:24:44.11\00:24:47.22 And number four, "...to bring in everlasting righteousness..." 00:24:48.02\00:24:52.65 He lived the perfect life before He died the perfect death. 00:24:52.69\00:24:57.89 And His righteousness, by righteousness by faith, 00:24:58.66\00:25:02.80 we can have His righteousness. 00:25:02.83\00:25:06.37 We are saved by His blood and by His life. 00:25:06.47\00:25:10.14 And then number five, "...to seal up vision and prophecy..." 00:25:11.24\00:25:16.61 It ratifies all of the prophecies, 00:25:16.64\00:25:22.15 the Messianic prophecies. 00:25:22.18\00:25:23.85 You look at all the hundreds of prophecies 00:25:23.89\00:25:26.86 about the Messiah, and He fulfilled them all. 00:25:26.89\00:25:30.93 He made all of them come to pass. 00:25:31.49\00:25:36.13 In fact, He even told John the Baptist when He asked 00:25:36.67\00:25:41.90 to be baptized, and John said, "Well, I need to 00:25:41.94\00:25:44.17 be baptized of You." 00:25:44.21\00:25:45.54 And He said, "It's necessary to fulfill all righteousness." 00:25:45.57\00:25:52.05 To fulfill the promise. 00:25:52.08\00:25:53.42 He understood that He was fulfilling all of these things. 00:25:53.45\00:25:58.55 And then number six, "...to anoint the Most Holy." 00:25:59.49\00:26:02.92 Things were anointed, and especially the Most Holy 00:26:03.53\00:26:06.19 in the Sanctuary service. 00:26:06.23\00:26:07.56 Every part of that Sanctuary service; the building, 00:26:07.60\00:26:11.83 the furniture, all the sacrifices, 00:26:11.87\00:26:14.20 were all pointing to the One who came. 00:26:14.24\00:26:17.61 The Messiah means, Anointed One. 00:26:17.64\00:26:20.18 In fact, His name "Immanuel" means, "God with us." 00:26:20.78\00:26:25.41 And God was with us in the Most Holy Place. 00:26:25.45\00:26:28.95 And the symbol of His throne, the ark of His covenant, 00:26:28.98\00:26:32.29 was there; and it all symbolized Jesus, the Messiah. 00:26:32.32\00:26:37.63 Now those six prepositional phrases, we're going to 00:26:38.49\00:26:41.20 get to the antecedent to them in just a moment. 00:26:41.23\00:26:43.77 If we go on to verse 25, "Know therefore and understand, 00:26:44.43\00:26:49.27 that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and 00:26:49.30\00:26:52.54 to build Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince, 00:26:52.57\00:26:56.24 there shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; 00:26:56.78\00:27:00.12 the street shall be built again, and the wall, 00:27:00.15\00:27:03.05 even in troublesome times." 00:27:03.08\00:27:04.92 Now by the way, Ezekiel 4:6, you see there in the parentheses, 00:27:04.95\00:27:08.59 Ezekiel 4:6 and Numbers 14:34 point out each day for a year. 00:27:08.62\00:27:14.16 I don't have time to go through that apocalyptic literature, 00:27:14.20\00:27:18.97 each day equals a year. 00:27:19.00\00:27:20.44 Well in verse 26, it says, "And after the sixty-two weeks 00:27:20.47\00:27:24.64 Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself." 00:27:24.67\00:27:28.38 So what we have is, we have seven weeks. 00:27:28.41\00:27:31.71 It was going to take 49 years for the city of Jerusalem 00:27:32.21\00:27:37.49 to be rebuilt. 00:27:37.52\00:27:38.85 And then go on another sixty-two weeks 00:27:38.89\00:27:41.62 until the Messiah the Prince. 00:27:41.66\00:27:43.93 I want you to notice three times, anoint the Most Holy, 00:27:43.96\00:27:47.16 Messiah the Prince, and Messiah cut off. 00:27:47.20\00:27:50.17 All three of those are about the Messiah. 00:27:50.20\00:27:52.80 And by the way, three is a number that is used for God. 00:27:52.83\00:27:56.10 And so, "Messiah cut off," this is referring to 00:27:56.87\00:28:00.18 Him as the Savior. 00:28:00.21\00:28:01.74 "Messiah the Prince," it's referring to Him as King. 00:28:01.78\00:28:05.08 And we're going to see more of that. 00:28:05.58\00:28:07.38 And Daniel 9:24-27 is the Messianic covenant 00:28:07.42\00:28:12.29 for the Jews and is the answer that Gabriel brought from God 00:28:12.32\00:28:17.66 to show Daniel how the people would be saved 00:28:17.69\00:28:24.27 and how their belief and their faith of the Messiah 00:28:24.30\00:28:30.81 would materialize in Jesus Christ. 00:28:30.84\00:28:33.74 And it was all about that. 00:28:34.01\00:28:35.81 Well let's go on and notice the 70 weeks. 00:28:35.84\00:28:38.18 If you look in the prophecy, the chart there, 00:28:38.21\00:28:41.12 you see the decree, and Sasha referred to that this morning, 00:28:41.15\00:28:44.69 457 BC, and he gave some of the background to such. 00:28:44.72\00:28:49.39 You had seven weeks plus the sixty-two; 00:28:49.42\00:28:53.23 a total of sixty-nine weeks. 00:28:53.26\00:28:55.03 That brought it up to His baptism. 00:28:55.06\00:28:57.23 And by the way, that's when He was anointed of the Holy Spirit, 00:28:57.27\00:29:00.80 at the baptism. 00:29:01.00\00:29:02.34 And the voice from heaven, "This is My beloved Son 00:29:02.37\00:29:05.47 in whom I'm well pleased." 00:29:05.51\00:29:07.08 And then we're going to see at the cross... 00:29:07.31\00:29:11.31 Now I believe I skipped a verse here. 00:29:12.21\00:29:15.65 Oh no, it's the next one. Okay. 00:29:15.92\00:29:18.52 And in the midst of the week He'll cause the sacrifice... 00:29:18.72\00:29:22.32 Here it is. 00:29:22.36\00:29:23.69 No. 00:29:23.99\00:29:25.33 Oh you know, that didn't get in there. 00:29:25.36\00:29:26.96 It's Daniel 9:27. 00:29:27.00\00:29:28.90 Daniel 9:27, I sent them one, and then I realized 00:29:29.26\00:29:33.13 I left this verse out. 00:29:33.17\00:29:34.50 If you have your Bible, turn to Daniel 9:27. 00:29:34.54\00:29:37.67 And you'll see that there it says, in the midst of the 00:29:37.71\00:29:43.35 covenant how He's going to have the covenant for one more week, 00:29:43.38\00:29:48.22 with many for one week. 00:29:48.25\00:29:49.58 And in the midst of the week, He will cause sacrifice, 00:29:49.62\00:29:53.66 or some translation say oblation, to cease. 00:29:53.69\00:29:57.63 Why don't we sacrifice lambs today when we worship? 00:29:57.66\00:30:02.20 Because the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, 00:30:02.76\00:30:05.30 has died on the cross of Calvary. 00:30:05.33\00:30:07.64 We no longer need to sacrifice lambs. 00:30:08.60\00:30:10.74 All those lambs were looking forward to Him. 00:30:10.77\00:30:13.64 So in the midst of that last prophetic week, 00:30:13.68\00:30:17.85 we have the cross. 00:30:18.71\00:30:21.75 The cross is why we do not sacrifice lambs today. 00:30:22.05\00:30:26.86 And then, if we end that last week, it ends in AD 34, 00:30:28.09\00:30:32.29 that's when the gospel goes to the Gentiles. 00:30:32.33\00:30:35.56 Now if we look at Acts chapter 7... 00:30:35.83\00:30:38.03 And we're going quickly as we're going through on our way to 00:30:38.73\00:30:41.47 Revelation to see God's covenant completed. 00:30:41.50\00:30:44.91 It says there Stephen is looking up, and he sees 00:30:46.71\00:30:52.31 Jesus standing at the right hand of God, in verse 55 of Acts 7. 00:30:52.35\00:30:57.69 In verse 56, "...and said, 'Behold, I see the 00:30:58.69\00:31:02.22 heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing 00:31:02.26\00:31:06.29 on the right hand of God.'" 00:31:06.33\00:31:08.66 Now let's stop right here. 00:31:09.26\00:31:10.70 If you read the first part of Acts 7, 00:31:12.03\00:31:16.37 he tells them a lot of strong things. 00:31:16.67\00:31:18.37 He takes them through history and shows a lot how they 00:31:18.41\00:31:20.88 have rebelled against God. 00:31:20.91\00:31:22.44 They held their tongue until he says, "I see the heavens opened 00:31:23.11\00:31:29.72 and the Son of Man," that was Jesus' favorite name 00:31:29.75\00:31:32.75 for Himself, "standing on the right hand of God." 00:31:32.79\00:31:37.83 Now notice, He's standing. 00:31:38.09\00:31:40.20 They understood this. 00:31:41.16\00:31:42.50 Most of us don't really get the message. 00:31:42.53\00:31:45.63 But they understood exactly what Stephen was saying. 00:31:45.67\00:31:49.70 And notice in verses 57 and 58, "Then they cried out 00:31:49.74\00:31:55.34 with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, 00:31:55.38\00:31:58.28 and ran upon him with one accord, 00:31:58.31\00:32:02.18 and cast him out of the city, and stoned him." 00:32:02.22\00:32:05.49 That was against Jewish law and that was against Roman law. 00:32:05.52\00:32:09.49 But they couldn't stand hearing that Jesus 00:32:09.52\00:32:13.60 was standing at the right hand of God. 00:32:13.63\00:32:16.36 Now by the way, "standing;" 00:32:16.40\00:32:17.93 you will find 25 times the New Testament 00:32:17.97\00:32:21.60 refers to standing or sitting, most of the time sitting, 00:32:21.64\00:32:25.04 at the right hand of God; majesty, 00:32:25.54\00:32:28.44 various terminologies there. 00:32:28.48\00:32:30.75 But here we see Him standing. 00:32:30.91\00:32:33.11 Sitting at the right hand or the left hand, 00:32:33.15\00:32:36.58 as the disciples wanted to do to Jesus, 00:32:36.62\00:32:39.39 was showing their authority, their position. 00:32:39.42\00:32:43.12 But when they're standing, then they are putting 00:32:43.93\00:32:48.50 their authority into action. 00:32:48.53\00:32:50.73 And so Jesus is standing at the right hand of God 00:32:51.03\00:32:55.30 indicating He is now taking on that authority with action. 00:32:55.34\00:33:00.94 And so, what was he doing? 00:33:02.04\00:33:03.98 Well, let's look. 00:33:04.01\00:33:05.35 Let's look, in AD 34, at the stoning of Stephen. 00:33:06.41\00:33:10.89 They stoned him illegally. 00:33:10.92\00:33:12.82 But as we look at Acts 9 and the last part of verse 4, 00:33:14.92\00:33:18.96 "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?" 00:33:18.99\00:33:23.47 This is on the road to Damascus. 00:33:23.50\00:33:25.23 "And he said, 'Who are You, Lord?' 00:33:25.70\00:33:28.34 Then the Lord said, 'I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. 00:33:28.77\00:33:32.91 It is hard for you to kick against the goads.'" 00:33:33.27\00:33:38.18 Now we don't use that term anymore. 00:33:38.91\00:33:40.58 It's thorns. 00:33:40.62\00:33:42.08 Stickers. Sharp things. 00:33:42.55\00:33:44.82 In other words, yeah, like you're kicking against 00:33:44.85\00:33:47.76 a cactus out here barefooted. 00:33:47.79\00:33:49.89 You can relate to that here in Phoenix, couldn't you? 00:33:51.23\00:33:53.70 And what was He talking about? 00:33:54.33\00:33:56.60 What was He talking about? 00:33:57.20\00:33:58.93 Who had held the coats at the stoning of Stephen 00:34:00.70\00:34:04.54 and the official witness of that stoning? 00:34:04.57\00:34:08.08 It was Saul. 00:34:08.84\00:34:10.18 He had seen Stephen's face light up as an angel's face. 00:34:10.78\00:34:15.88 He had heard the words inspired by the Holy Spirit. 00:34:15.92\00:34:21.12 And it was pricking him, and he was kicking against it. 00:34:21.46\00:34:28.53 He was fighting it. 00:34:29.36\00:34:30.87 By the way, have some of you ever fought as the 00:34:30.90\00:34:32.70 Holy Spirit was trying to reach your heart? 00:34:32.73\00:34:35.07 He was fighting it, he was kicking against it. 00:34:35.30\00:34:37.77 And He said, "It's hard to do it, isn't it." 00:34:37.81\00:34:40.14 And you see, it was at the stoning of Stephen 00:34:41.34\00:34:44.68 that the apostle to the Gentiles, as he said he was 00:34:46.21\00:34:50.89 in Romans 11:13, "I am the apostle to the Gentiles." 00:34:50.92\00:34:56.36 The apostle to the Gentiles was called starting 00:34:57.16\00:35:00.80 at the stoning of Stephen; AD 34. 00:35:00.83\00:35:04.43 And he carried the gospel unto the world 00:35:04.47\00:35:07.40 as that great leader. 00:35:07.44\00:35:09.57 So now let's look at Daniel and make sure 00:35:09.60\00:35:12.37 we're putting all this picture together. 00:35:12.41\00:35:14.64 Daniel chapter 9, well let's start with chapter 2. 00:35:15.04\00:35:18.81 Daniel 2, the image was that God is in charge of leadership. 00:35:18.91\00:35:24.49 He sets them up and He takes them down. 00:35:24.52\00:35:26.69 He used an image there. 00:35:27.46\00:35:29.16 In Daniel 7, He uses beasts. 00:35:29.42\00:35:32.29 And God changes the leadership of nations, 00:35:32.69\00:35:36.16 but also dealing with spiritual things as well. 00:35:36.20\00:35:40.57 In chapter 8, He uses different beasts and more details. 00:35:40.90\00:35:45.37 And He goes through, and even more details 00:35:45.41\00:35:48.84 about the religious issues. 00:35:48.88\00:35:50.68 And, oh wait a minute, He changes leadership again. 00:35:50.71\00:35:57.22 In Daniel 9, God changes leadership in Israel. 00:35:57.25\00:36:02.76 In the covenants. 00:36:03.99\00:36:05.63 And so we're going to see that later. 00:36:06.33\00:36:08.50 But so, now the high priest and Sanhedrin, God changes 00:36:08.53\00:36:14.60 their leadership into the Messiah the Priest 00:36:14.64\00:36:18.24 and the Messiah the Prince. 00:36:18.27\00:36:20.68 So Caiaphas is no longer the high priest for God. 00:36:21.11\00:36:25.65 Jesus, the Messiah, is the High Priest for God and His people. 00:36:27.82\00:36:34.02 And the Sanhedrin council is no longer in charge 00:36:35.12\00:36:39.36 of His people. 00:36:39.93\00:36:41.86 Messiah the Prince is. 00:36:42.46\00:36:44.67 If we look on, did Jesus understand this principle? 00:36:47.70\00:36:51.07 Let's look at John 18 verse 37. 00:36:51.87\00:36:55.24 "Pilate therefore said unto Him, 'Are You the king then?' 00:36:55.54\00:37:00.08 Jesus answered, 'You say rightly that I am king.'" 00:37:00.82\00:37:06.12 And I put the numbers in here again. 00:37:06.15\00:37:08.12 Number one, "For this cause I was born..." 00:37:08.16\00:37:12.76 And number two, "...for this cause I have 00:37:12.79\00:37:16.23 come into the world..." 00:37:16.26\00:37:17.60 Now He did say, as Alan mentioned last night, 00:37:18.07\00:37:21.64 that His kingdom was not of this world. 00:37:21.84\00:37:23.64 In other words, He was not trying to overthrow Caesar. 00:37:23.67\00:37:25.77 That was not His purpose here. 00:37:25.81\00:37:27.28 That's what the Jews wanted Him to do. 00:37:27.31\00:37:30.28 That's what the Jews wanted the Messiah to do. 00:37:30.31\00:37:32.88 But that's not what He came for. 00:37:32.91\00:37:34.38 He came as King, but He came first of all as Savior. 00:37:34.68\00:37:39.25 Now He's going to come back and we're going to see 00:37:39.65\00:37:41.79 He will come as King. 00:37:41.82\00:37:43.63 Seems like the clicker is not wanting to go. 00:37:49.86\00:37:52.00 There we go. 00:37:52.03\00:37:53.37 Mark 14 verse 61, "Again the high priest..." 00:37:53.57\00:37:58.97 Now He's talking to the high priest 00:37:59.01\00:38:00.38 just before the crucifixion. 00:38:00.41\00:38:01.94 "...asked Him, saying to Him, 'Are You the Christ, 00:38:03.81\00:38:09.12 the Son of the Blessed?' 00:38:09.15\00:38:10.59 And Jesus said, 'I am. 00:38:11.05\00:38:13.46 And you will see the Son of Man sitting on the 00:38:13.96\00:38:17.99 right hand of the Power, and coming with the 00:38:18.03\00:38:21.36 clouds of heaven.'" 00:38:21.40\00:38:22.90 The right hand of the throne, or power, or of God, 00:38:23.60\00:38:28.50 or the Majesty, refers to Jesus being King. 00:38:28.94\00:38:33.51 Five times in the book of Hebrews and twenty-five times 00:38:33.94\00:38:38.05 in the New Testament it refers to Jesus 00:38:38.08\00:38:41.02 at the right hand of the Father. 00:38:41.05\00:38:43.02 Now we look at Hebrews chapter 12 verse 2. 00:38:45.35\00:38:51.33 "...looking unto Jesus, the author and the finisher 00:38:51.69\00:38:54.93 of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him 00:38:54.96\00:38:58.67 endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down 00:38:58.70\00:39:04.21 on the right hand of the throne of God." 00:39:04.24\00:39:07.24 Now this goes along with Revelation 3:21. 00:39:07.94\00:39:11.01 "To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me 00:39:11.05\00:39:15.88 in My throne, as I also overcame and am sat down 00:39:15.92\00:39:20.42 with My Father on His throne." 00:39:20.46\00:39:23.12 Now let's look at Revelation 19 verses 15 and 16. 00:39:23.93\00:39:29.60 "Now out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, 00:39:29.86\00:39:34.50 that with it He should strike the nations. 00:39:34.90\00:39:38.31 And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. 00:39:38.34\00:39:42.18 And He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness 00:39:42.21\00:39:46.72 and the wrath of the Almighty God. 00:39:46.75\00:39:49.02 And He has on His robe and on His thigh the name written: 00:39:49.05\00:39:54.32 KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS." 00:39:54.36\00:39:56.79 And you notice, every one of those letters of that 00:39:56.83\00:40:00.20 title are capitalized. 00:40:00.23\00:40:01.90 The highest title that He has. 00:40:01.93\00:40:04.90 "KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS." 00:40:04.93\00:40:06.30 It's when He comes riding on the white horse. 00:40:06.33\00:40:09.27 It's the time that He comes now to finish up 00:40:09.30\00:40:13.44 all of the wicked and to destroy Satan, sinners, and sin 00:40:13.48\00:40:21.12 from this world. 00:40:21.15\00:40:22.48 Hebrews chapter 9 verse 11. 00:40:23.35\00:40:25.45 "But Christ came as High Priest of good things to come..." 00:40:25.69\00:40:30.73 Now go down to verse 24. 00:40:30.76\00:40:32.43 "For Christ is not entered into holy places made with hands, 00:40:32.79\00:40:37.40 which are the figures of the true, but into heaven itself, 00:40:37.43\00:40:42.07 now to appear in the presence of God for us." 00:40:42.10\00:40:45.44 Sixteen times in the book of Hebrews, Jesus is referred to 00:40:45.77\00:40:50.75 as the High Priest. 00:40:50.78\00:40:52.41 You see, what happened, this is the application of what... 00:40:53.18\00:40:57.99 By the way, the apostles had said, Stephen had said, 00:40:58.09\00:41:02.76 Jesus had said, the Bible says, when we're looking at 00:41:02.79\00:41:07.00 all of this together. 00:41:07.03\00:41:08.63 Now let's go on in verse 19. 00:41:09.00\00:41:11.70 Talking about how the High Priest enters in 00:41:12.73\00:41:15.74 the Most Holy Place behind the veil. 00:41:15.77\00:41:17.91 In verse 20, "...where the forerunner has entered for us, 00:41:17.94\00:41:22.78 even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according 00:41:22.81\00:41:28.18 to the order of Melchizedek." 00:41:28.22\00:41:30.75 This is fulfilling a Messianic prophecy of Psalm 110 verse 4. 00:41:30.79\00:41:37.43 "You are a priest forever according to the 00:41:38.23\00:41:42.56 order of Melchizedek." 00:41:42.60\00:41:45.30 Nine times in the book of Hebrews, Melchizedek is used. 00:41:46.00\00:41:50.97 It's always used in a reference of how Melchizedek 00:41:51.01\00:41:56.34 was a symbol for Jesus the Messiah. 00:41:56.38\00:41:59.61 He was a priest of the Most High God. 00:41:59.65\00:42:02.78 He was the king of Salem, which was the forerunner 00:42:02.82\00:42:06.52 of Jerusalem. 00:42:06.55\00:42:08.52 And Jesus is the High Priest and the King of the New Jerusalem. 00:42:09.09\00:42:17.73 And so we see that he was a type of Christ. 00:42:17.93\00:42:21.37 As we go on in Hebrews 7 verse 11, 00:42:21.40\00:42:24.44 "Therefore, if perfection were through the Levitical priesthood 00:42:24.74\00:42:29.74 what further need was there that another priest should 00:42:29.78\00:42:33.95 rise according to the order of Melchizedek, 00:42:33.98\00:42:36.85 and not be called after the order of Aaron? 00:42:37.15\00:42:41.62 For the priesthood being changed..." 00:42:42.26\00:42:45.16 Now let's go on down to verse 14. 00:42:45.19\00:42:47.20 "For it is evident that our Lord arose from Judah, 00:42:47.43\00:42:52.60 of which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood. 00:42:53.37\00:42:58.77 And it is yet far more evident if, in the likeness of 00:42:59.27\00:43:05.38 Melchizedek, there arises another priest who has come, 00:43:05.41\00:43:11.55 not according to the law of a fleshly commandment, 00:43:11.59\00:43:14.92 but according to the power of an endless life. 00:43:14.96\00:43:19.33 For He testifies, 'You are a priest forever according to the 00:43:19.93\00:43:25.93 order of Melchizedek.'" 00:43:25.97\00:43:28.20 You see, Jesus' priesthood is so much better 00:43:28.40\00:43:31.61 than even that of Melchizedek. 00:43:31.64\00:43:34.01 Because He has the power of life eternal, 00:43:34.04\00:43:38.51 and giving us life eternal. 00:43:39.05\00:43:41.78 Death could not hold Him in the grave. 00:43:41.82\00:43:44.95 And He raises. 00:43:45.45\00:43:46.79 And the fact that He rose, it makes no difference 00:43:46.82\00:43:50.23 whether we live or die on this earth, 00:43:50.26\00:43:52.59 if we're in Jesus we have eternal life. 00:43:52.63\00:43:55.26 And so we go on and notice. 00:43:56.46\00:43:58.53 Now let's look at Romans, how Paul puts this in. 00:43:59.30\00:44:02.80 Romans 9 verse 2, "...that I have great sorrow 00:44:03.67\00:44:07.31 and continual grief in my heart. 00:44:07.34\00:44:09.58 For I could wish that I myself were accursed for Christ 00:44:09.61\00:44:14.32 and my brethren, and my countrymen 00:44:14.35\00:44:16.58 according to the flesh," 00:44:16.62\00:44:18.75 in verse 4, "who are Israelites, to whom pertain the adoption, 00:44:19.62\00:44:24.59 the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, 00:44:24.69\00:44:28.36 the service of God, and the promises..." 00:44:28.40\00:44:31.40 Now notice, I want you to notice the word, "covenants," 00:44:31.43\00:44:34.27 and, "promises." 00:44:34.30\00:44:35.64 It's through Israel that the covenants especially 00:44:35.67\00:44:39.41 were shown and demonstrated so visually and emphatically. 00:44:39.44\00:44:45.11 Now in verse 5, "...from whom, according to the flesh, 00:44:45.15\00:44:50.15 Christ came, who is over all, the eternally 00:44:50.19\00:44:54.69 blessed God; amen." 00:44:54.72\00:44:57.06 Now notice who the flesh... 00:44:57.09\00:44:58.59 Who came? Christ came. 00:44:58.96\00:45:00.80 Jesus was a Jew. 00:45:00.83\00:45:02.43 And those who are against Jews and hate Jews, 00:45:02.53\00:45:06.07 well how could you be a Christian? 00:45:06.10\00:45:08.00 Jesus, the source of Christianity, was a Jew. 00:45:09.30\00:45:13.68 And he says the covenants came there, 00:45:14.04\00:45:15.98 the promises came through them. 00:45:16.01\00:45:17.81 In fact, of all the Bible writers, almost exclusively 00:45:17.85\00:45:22.28 the Bible writers under the inspiration of God were Jews. 00:45:22.32\00:45:25.42 And Paul says, "Look, all of this came through there. 00:45:25.72\00:45:28.96 Don't turn your back on your roots." 00:45:28.99\00:45:31.63 And Christ Himself came there. 00:45:31.83\00:45:33.90 As we go on in chapter 9 verse 6, "But it is not 00:45:34.36\00:45:38.47 that the word of God has taken no effect. 00:45:38.50\00:45:40.90 For they are not all Israel who are of Israel, 00:45:40.94\00:45:44.71 nor are they all children because they are the 00:45:45.14\00:45:49.71 seed of Abraham; but, 'In Isaac your seed shall be called.'" 00:45:49.74\00:45:54.25 By the way, I like that what Sasha brought out. 00:45:54.28\00:45:56.99 You know, 9/11 couldn't happen unless 00:45:57.02\00:46:00.56 first of all Abraham went into Hagar. 00:46:00.59\00:46:03.19 And that's true. 00:46:03.39\00:46:04.73 A lot of other terrorism could be added to that as well. 00:46:04.76\00:46:07.50 But then notice in verse 8, "...the children of the promise 00:46:08.66\00:46:13.64 are counted as the seed." 00:46:13.67\00:46:15.00 The children of the promise. 00:46:15.04\00:46:16.40 In fact, if we go to verse 24, "...even us whom He called, 00:46:16.44\00:46:20.94 not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?" 00:46:21.04\00:46:26.05 So it's not just a Jewish thing. 00:46:26.08\00:46:29.08 God didn't want just to save the Jews. 00:46:29.12\00:46:32.52 Even in the Old Testament they were to be a witness, 00:46:32.55\00:46:36.09 they were to be a light to the rest of the world. 00:46:36.29\00:46:38.86 Just like the church is to be a light to the rest of the world. 00:46:38.89\00:46:41.93 All the blessings aren't suppose to be just on the church. 00:46:41.96\00:46:44.60 The church is the means of getting the gospel 00:46:44.63\00:46:48.14 out to the others. 00:46:48.17\00:46:49.50 And that was true then as well. 00:46:49.54\00:46:51.67 And we're going to see how that ties in to Revelation 00:46:51.71\00:46:54.44 in just a moment. 00:46:54.48\00:46:55.81 And now notice in Romans 9 verse 27, 00:46:55.84\00:46:58.41 "Isaiah also cries out concerning Israel, 00:46:58.95\00:47:02.28 'Though the number of the children of Israel be as the 00:47:02.78\00:47:05.45 sand of the sea...'" 00:47:05.49\00:47:06.82 Read this last part with me. 00:47:06.86\00:47:08.26 "...the remnant will be saved." 00:47:08.62\00:47:12.19 I want you to notice, it says a remnant will be saved. 00:47:12.39\00:47:15.66 Now he is talking about the end of time. 00:47:15.70\00:47:18.43 Look at the very next verse, the very next phrase. 00:47:18.47\00:47:22.57 "For He will finish the work and cut it short in righteousness, 00:47:22.67\00:47:28.88 because the Lord will make a short work upon the earth." 00:47:28.91\00:47:32.85 Now this shows, and there are many from the 00:47:33.42\00:47:37.99 pen of inspiration that say these are the last people group 00:47:38.02\00:47:40.79 to be reached before Jesus comes. 00:47:40.82\00:47:42.66 Here it says the remnant will be saved, 00:47:42.69\00:47:44.79 He's going to finish the work. 00:47:44.83\00:47:46.16 It's the remnant at the finishing that he's 00:47:46.19\00:47:48.10 talking about here, isn't it? 00:47:48.13\00:47:49.56 That's the context. 00:47:50.17\00:47:51.77 And the Lord's going to make a short work out of it. 00:47:51.80\00:47:54.37 We go on in chapter 10 verse 1, "Brethren, my heart's desire 00:47:54.40\00:48:00.01 and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved." 00:48:00.04\00:48:05.98 Going on in verse 2, "...they have a zeal of God, 00:48:06.35\00:48:10.79 but not according to knowledge. 00:48:10.82\00:48:12.95 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, 00:48:12.99\00:48:17.36 and seeking to establish their own righteousness, 00:48:17.39\00:48:21.23 have not submitted to the righteousness of God. 00:48:21.26\00:48:25.07 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness 00:48:25.33\00:48:29.90 to everyone who believes." 00:48:29.94\00:48:31.77 In other words, righteousness by faith 00:48:31.81\00:48:34.01 is the basis of salvation. 00:48:34.04\00:48:36.58 It's not how good we are, it's how good He is; 00:48:36.61\00:48:39.61 is the basis of our salvation. 00:48:39.65\00:48:41.75 And so all the lambs, all the sacrifices, 00:48:42.08\00:48:45.59 were looking to the cross. 00:48:45.62\00:48:47.52 That's what we looked at in Daniel 9 00:48:47.56\00:48:50.63 and verses 24 and right on through 27. 00:48:51.09\00:48:55.76 And the righteousness of Christ is what, His righteousness, 00:48:55.93\00:49:00.47 is what will give us righteousness now 00:49:00.50\00:49:03.10 and for eternity. 00:49:03.14\00:49:04.47 It's His righteousness that covers our sins, 00:49:04.51\00:49:07.24 that washes away our sins, and empowers us to 00:49:07.28\00:49:10.51 overcome our sins. 00:49:10.55\00:49:12.55 Now notice 2 Corinthians 5:19, "...God was in Christ 00:49:12.75\00:49:19.05 reconciling the world to Himself..." 00:49:19.09\00:49:22.96 You remember the reconciling? 00:49:23.43\00:49:25.93 That was one of the lines of the prepositional phrases. 00:49:25.96\00:49:29.73 God was in Christ reconciling the world. 00:49:29.76\00:49:33.57 It's through His sacrifice, it's through His atonement, 00:49:33.60\00:49:37.51 it's through His covenant, that we are saved. 00:49:37.71\00:49:41.68 Now let's notice in Hebrews chapter 8 verse 10. 00:49:41.94\00:49:45.15 "For this is the covenant that I will make with the 00:49:45.18\00:49:48.72 house of Israel: 00:49:48.75\00:49:50.09 I will put My laws in their mind and write them 00:49:50.29\00:49:53.96 in their hearts; and I will be their God, 00:49:53.99\00:49:56.93 and they shall be My people." 00:49:56.96\00:49:59.19 Here is the new covenant. 00:49:59.73\00:50:01.60 It was prophesied in Jeremiah. 00:50:01.63\00:50:03.70 Here we have it, in saying that it's going to be, 00:50:03.73\00:50:07.50 and it's at the end time. 00:50:07.54\00:50:09.37 Now as we go on, and notice in chapter 13 of Hebrews, 00:50:10.14\00:50:15.04 verses 20 and 21, "...through the blood of the 00:50:15.08\00:50:18.65 everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work 00:50:18.68\00:50:24.75 to do His will..." 00:50:24.95\00:50:26.55 The everlasting covenant is complete in His blood. 00:50:26.59\00:50:31.33 And it makes us do every good work 00:50:31.53\00:50:34.83 when we accept and allow that covenant, that atonement, 00:50:35.16\00:50:40.40 that change in our life from what the Messiah has done. 00:50:40.44\00:50:45.61 Now in Romans chapter 11. 00:50:45.64\00:50:48.21 "Has God cast away His people? 00:50:49.84\00:50:52.21 Certainly not. 00:50:52.51\00:50:53.85 For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, 00:50:53.88\00:50:58.35 of the tribe of Benjamin." 00:50:58.39\00:50:59.92 Those who say the Jews were gone after AD 34, 00:51:00.26\00:51:04.36 you know, replacement theology; hey, the Bible says, 00:51:04.39\00:51:08.10 God says certainly not. 00:51:08.13\00:51:09.83 They have not been cast away. 00:51:09.86\00:51:11.50 God doesn't cast away His people. 00:51:12.07\00:51:14.10 People leave Him, but God doesn't cast away His people. 00:51:14.14\00:51:17.41 We're teaching wrong about the character of God when we 00:51:17.44\00:51:20.21 say God throws people out. 00:51:20.24\00:51:21.78 They throw themselves out. 00:51:22.31\00:51:23.71 God doesn't throw them out. 00:51:24.11\00:51:25.58 He wants to save all of them. 00:51:25.61\00:51:27.25 But going on in verse 2, "God has not cast away His people..." 00:51:27.45\00:51:33.76 What part of that do we not understand. 00:51:33.96\00:51:36.29 He hasn't cast them away. He's talking about Israel. 00:51:36.56\00:51:39.13 And then going on, "...what the Scripture says of Elijah, 00:51:39.79\00:51:43.83 how he pleads with God against Israel, saying, 00:51:43.93\00:51:46.87 'Lord, they have killed Your prophets and torn down 00:51:46.90\00:51:50.94 Your altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life.' 00:51:50.97\00:51:55.64 But what does the divine response say to him? 00:51:56.78\00:51:59.71 'I have reserved for Myself seven thousand men 00:51:59.75\00:52:03.52 who have not bowed their knee to Baal.' 00:52:03.55\00:52:05.89 Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant 00:52:05.92\00:52:11.13 according to the election of grace." 00:52:11.16\00:52:13.33 There's, again, the second time "remnant" is used for Israel. 00:52:13.36\00:52:17.03 And it's used after the cross. 00:52:17.07\00:52:19.10 It's used in Paul's day. 00:52:19.13\00:52:21.17 And he says, a remnant after grace; Jewish believers. 00:52:21.50\00:52:25.67 And going on in chapter 16, you can read about the tree. 00:52:25.91\00:52:31.71 And basically what we find is, the branches were, 00:52:31.75\00:52:36.45 some branches were broken, in verse 17. 00:52:36.48\00:52:39.49 And wild olive tree branches were grafted in them. 00:52:39.52\00:52:43.89 For time's sake, we're going to go on down to verse 19. 00:52:44.33\00:52:47.26 "You may say then, 'Branches were broken off 00:52:47.30\00:52:50.93 that I might be grafted in.' 00:52:50.97\00:52:53.54 Well said. 00:52:54.24\00:52:55.57 Because of unbelief they were broken off, 00:52:55.60\00:52:58.24 and you stand by faith. 00:52:58.27\00:53:00.28 Do not be haughty, but fear. 00:53:00.31\00:53:02.34 For if God did not spare the natural branches, 00:53:02.54\00:53:05.28 He may not spare you either." 00:53:05.31\00:53:07.25 And then in verse 24, the natural branches are grafted 00:53:08.12\00:53:11.42 back into their olive tree. 00:53:11.45\00:53:13.36 Remember, the tree wasn't cut down. 00:53:13.39\00:53:15.52 And Jesus is the root. 00:53:15.66\00:53:17.19 The tree was there. 00:53:17.23\00:53:18.56 Some branches were cut off. 00:53:18.59\00:53:20.23 Wild branches were grafted in. 00:53:20.26\00:53:22.46 And then some of the original branches 00:53:22.50\00:53:25.17 were grafted back in. 00:53:25.20\00:53:26.84 Now as we look in verse 25, he says he didn't 00:53:27.24\00:53:33.41 want them to be ignorant, "lest you should be wise 00:53:33.44\00:53:36.88 in your own opinion, that blindness in part has 00:53:36.91\00:53:41.02 happened to Israel until the fullness of the 00:53:41.05\00:53:44.02 Gentiles has come in." 00:53:44.05\00:53:45.65 So Paul is saying there's blindness on much of Israel 00:53:45.69\00:53:49.22 until the fullness of the Gentiles comes in. 00:53:49.26\00:53:52.49 And then we're going to find the grafting back in. 00:53:52.53\00:53:56.50 Just as we saw in chapter 9 at the end in finishing the work. 00:53:56.53\00:54:01.80 But let's go on in verse 26. 00:54:01.84\00:54:04.27 "And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written, 00:54:04.31\00:54:08.74 'The Deliverer will come out of Zion, and He will 00:54:08.78\00:54:13.45 turn away ungodliness from Jacob. 00:54:13.48\00:54:16.12 For this is My covenant with them, 00:54:16.75\00:54:19.49 when I take away their sins.'" 00:54:19.52\00:54:21.49 I want you to notice that all Israel being saved is 00:54:21.52\00:54:24.99 referring to all the branches; the natural and the other. 00:54:25.03\00:54:28.70 That is all Israel being saved. 00:54:28.90\00:54:31.67 It's not like some are saying, it's all the nation of Israel. 00:54:31.70\00:54:35.07 No, it's all the believers. 00:54:35.10\00:54:36.60 All the believers. 00:54:36.81\00:54:38.14 And we look now at Revelation chapter 12 and verse 17. 00:54:38.17\00:54:44.41 And I want us to look at what it says. 00:54:44.68\00:54:46.92 "And the dragon was wroth with the woman, 00:54:46.95\00:54:48.92 and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, 00:54:48.95\00:54:51.39 which keep the commandments of God and have the 00:54:51.69\00:54:54.06 testimony of Jesus Christ." 00:54:54.09\00:54:55.79 In Revelation chapter 12 we find a woman in the beginning 00:54:55.99\00:55:00.66 who bears a child, and that man-child is Jesus. 00:55:01.56\00:55:05.13 In the Old Testament, Israel was the bride 00:55:05.80\00:55:10.07 of God, wasn't it? 00:55:10.57\00:55:11.91 And we've already read in chapter 9 of Romans 00:55:12.24\00:55:16.41 that it was through Israel that Jesus was born. 00:55:16.44\00:55:19.98 But now we find that in the wilderness, 00:55:20.68\00:55:24.75 this is the church. 00:55:24.79\00:55:26.12 The two become one to make this final remnant. 00:55:26.15\00:55:29.72 What we see is happening. 00:55:31.03\00:55:32.79 And how do I know that it true? 00:55:32.83\00:55:34.36 Look at Revelation chapter 21 and verses 12 and 14. 00:55:34.40\00:55:40.34 In verse 12, the names of the twelve tribes of Israel 00:55:40.37\00:55:45.01 are over the gates of the New Jerusalem. 00:55:45.04\00:55:48.01 The names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb 00:55:48.04\00:55:52.21 are on the foundations. 00:55:52.25\00:55:53.72 Wait a minute. 00:55:53.98\00:55:55.32 On the New Jerusalem. 00:55:55.45\00:55:56.85 The names of the tribes and the names of the apostles. 00:55:57.09\00:56:01.62 You see, the final remnant are the believing Jews 00:56:02.36\00:56:07.96 and the believing Gentiles together; 00:56:08.00\00:56:11.00 make up the final remnant. 00:56:11.03\00:56:13.03 And that is God's completed covenant where they are saved. 00:56:13.13\00:56:21.54 And what we find there in Revelation chapter 21 00:56:21.64\00:56:25.58 and verse 3, "And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, 00:56:25.78\00:56:28.92 'Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, 00:56:29.02\00:56:31.75 and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. 00:56:31.79\00:56:35.52 And God Himself will be with them and be their God.'" 00:56:35.62\00:56:39.16 And in chapter 22, there we find, it says, 00:56:39.19\00:56:42.96 "They shall see His face, and His name shall be 00:56:43.00\00:56:46.97 on their foreheads." 00:56:47.64\00:56:49.67 This is God's covenant completed. 00:56:49.70\00:56:52.77 This is what all the covenants were working toward. 00:56:52.81\00:56:56.51 This is why the covenants were given. 00:56:56.64\00:57:01.48 To redeem all mankind. 00:57:01.78\00:57:03.99 And let's rejoice that we can be part of God's 00:57:04.25\00:57:10.89 covenant completed. 00:57:10.93\00:57:12.89 Let's pray. 00:57:12.93\00:57:14.26 Father in heaven, thank You for loving us and saving us. 00:57:14.30\00:57:19.37 Thank You for Your covenants. 00:57:19.40\00:57:21.14 And thank You that we can be the result of those covenants. 00:57:21.17\00:57:27.34 In Jesus' name we pray, amen. 00:57:27.38\00:57:29.94
