Okay, we are in Revelation.

I want to share with you a
little story or an illustration.

This goes back to 1847.
00:08:44.77\00:08:49.89
Over 165 years ago.
00:08:50.09\00:08:52.09
There were a group of people,
not more than a hundred people,
00:08:52.12\00:08:55.97
that had survived a
bitter disappointment.
00:08:56.33\00:08:59.11
There had been thousands of
people involved in a movement
00:08:59.14\00:09:01.76
that led to a proclamation
of the return of Jesus Christ
00:09:01.98\00:09:06.51
in October of 1844.
00:09:06.54\00:09:09.57
And just a few years
after this disappointment
00:09:09.60\00:09:12.27
there were just,
well, 50 to 100 people
00:09:12.30\00:09:15.97
that had held onto the
truths that had motivated and
00:09:16.28\00:09:20.76
spurred this movement.
00:09:20.79\00:09:22.38
And that group of
people was scattered.
00:09:22.48\00:09:26.11
A scattered little flock.
00:09:26.39\00:09:28.68
And there was a book
that was put together
00:09:29.00\00:09:31.22
by a couple of pioneers.

Well, three to be exact.

There was a man by
the name of James White,
00:09:35.47\00:09:37.93
another man by the
name of Joseph Bates,
00:09:38.22\00:09:40.93
and then there was a young
lady by the name of Ellen White.
00:09:40.96\00:09:45.45
She was about 18,
James White was about 25,
00:09:45.48\00:09:49.10
and Joseph Bates, well, he was a
real old guy like about my age.
00:09:49.13\00:09:52.99
I'm 51.

And they put this book
together and they wrote it

to the little flock
that was scattered abroad.

this morning, because I was

able to do that, and it
reminded me a lot of our past.

And in this book, there was
a lot of clarification about

certain
interpretations of prophecy.
00:10:27.25\00:10:29.28
Primarily, James White
was dealing with Revelation 13
00:10:29.31\00:10:34.88
and Daniel 11.
00:10:36.60\00:10:37.95
And his point was this;
it is clear when you read
00:10:38.72\00:10:43.13
Revelation chapter 13 and
Daniel 11, specifically the
00:10:43.16\00:10:48.09
last verses, and especially
verse 45, that probation
00:10:48.12\00:10:54.06
has not closed yet.
00:10:54.09\00:10:56.10
Michael has not stood up yet.
00:10:56.37\00:10:59.19
The seven last plagues
have not been poured out yet.
00:10:59.22\00:11:02.52
The time of
trouble has not begun yet.
00:11:02.55\00:11:04.85
The resurrection
has not taken place yet.
00:11:04.88\00:11:07.50
He was
encouraging the little flock.
00:11:08.81\00:11:10.51
Yes, we were disappointed.
00:11:11.29\00:11:13.12
And yes, we misunderstood
some of the detail of, you know,
00:11:13.15\00:11:16.62
what 1844 was all about.
00:11:16.65\00:11:19.17
But there are
prophecies yet to be fulfilled.

Now the reason why I
bring that up is because
00:11:23.63\00:11:25.95
I think it will help us
this morning as we make a
00:11:26.62\00:11:29.29
connection in this presentation
about coming economic control
00:11:29.32\00:11:34.81
between
Revelation 13 and Daniel 11.
00:11:34.84\00:11:39.09
There are a
number of connections.
00:11:39.43\00:11:40.73
I've been doing this study and
outline that is developing about
00:11:40.76\00:11:44.15
a dozen or so connections
between those two sections
00:11:44.18\00:11:46.63
of Scripture,
specifically Daniel 11:40-12:3
00:11:46.66\00:11:49.87
and Revelation 13:1-18.
00:11:49.90\00:11:53.17
But this morning we want to
look at one specific connection.
00:11:54.06\00:11:57.17
And that is the connection
that predicts economic control.
00:11:57.20\00:12:01.49
We're going to look at
this from two perspectives.
00:12:02.59\00:12:04.44
And I'm going to take you back
to a statement from James White

in A Word To The Little
Flock as we close, but right now
00:12:06.80\00:12:11.32
we're going to skip ahead to
Revelation 13 verses 16 and 17.

Just look at
these verses with me.
00:12:16.80\00:12:18.26
It's in a sense
a bold prediction.
00:12:19.74\00:12:22.96
And we are a people of
bold predictions, but those
00:12:22.99\00:12:25.94
bold predictions are
based, I hope, on the sure word
00:12:25.97\00:12:29.38
of prophecy.
00:12:29.41\00:12:30.51
We have nothing to fear
in making bold predictions
00:12:30.78\00:12:34.71
if they are founded on
the sure word of prophecy.
00:12:34.74\00:12:37.13
And so, here's what
the Word of God says

in Revelation 13:15 and 16.
00:12:39.43\00:12:42.75
"And he had power to give life
unto the image of the beast,
00:12:43.21\00:12:47.90
that the image of the beast
should both speak and cause
00:12:47.93\00:12:51.59
as many as would not
worship the image of the beast
00:12:51.62\00:12:54.57
should be killed.
00:12:54.60\00:12:55.94
And he caused all, both
small and great, rich and poor,
00:12:56.16\00:13:00.86
free and bond, to receive
a mark in their right hand
00:13:00.89\00:13:04.19
or in their foreheads.
00:13:04.22\00:13:05.65
That no man might buy or
sell, save he that had the mark,
00:13:05.68\00:13:11.29
or the name of the beast,
or the number of his name."

Now we've identified
in previous presentations

that a beast in Bible
prophecy represents a kingdom
00:13:19.97\00:13:22.63
or a power, an
earthly kingdom or a power.

So this is talking about
an earthly kingdom or power...

Specifically we've also
identified that this power in
00:13:28.55\00:13:31.60
Revelation chapter 13 includes
the United States of America.

...an earthly kingdom or
a power that has the might,
00:13:36.61\00:13:40.35
the strength, the influence,
the economic backbone,
00:13:40.38\00:13:43.68
to actually cause the
entire world to, well,
00:13:43.71\00:13:49.89
to face economic boycott.
00:13:50.09\00:13:52.13
You might say, "Wow,
that's a pretty bold statement."
00:13:52.77\00:13:55.47
We make it based on a
lot of information that we've
00:13:55.83\00:13:58.06
already looked at, but
I would like to suggest
00:13:58.09\00:14:00.20
a few things that
would help us to understand
00:14:00.23\00:14:03.20
how this is even possible.
00:14:03.23\00:14:04.85
Because the statement, first of
all, is made on the Word of God.
00:14:04.88\00:14:07.62
I remember, again, when I first
accepted the Adventist message
00:14:08.52\00:14:12.30
in 1984 and that the biggest
power in the world back then
00:14:12.33\00:14:15.44
was not the United States.
00:14:15.47\00:14:16.53
It was the U.S.S.R.
00:14:16.56\00:14:18.81
And the idea that the
United States was going to be
00:14:19.03\00:14:22.23
prominent, preeminent,
in enforcing upon the world
00:14:22.26\00:14:26.24
economic boycott, that all
the other nations would follow
00:14:26.27\00:14:29.02
their lead, well that just
seemed like a stretch to me.
00:14:29.05\00:14:33.51
Difficult to accept.
00:14:33.54\00:14:35.13
But I did by
faith. Only by faith.
00:14:35.16\00:14:37.45
You know, faith is the
substance of things hoped for,
00:14:37.48\00:14:39.77
the evidence of things not seen.
00:14:39.80\00:14:40.92
Or the evidence of things hoped
for, the substance of things...

Anyway, Hebrews 11 verse 1.
00:14:42.46\00:14:44.74
The idea was, was that
most of the evidence that I had
00:14:44.89\00:14:48.76
seen already in the prophecies
of Daniel and Revelation
00:14:48.79\00:14:52.00
had bolstered, had developed,
had strengthened my faith
00:14:52.03\00:14:55.05
to believe that, well
even though I didn't see
00:14:55.08\00:14:57.35
this happening in the
world, it was going to happen.
00:14:57.38\00:15:00.50
Because God was clearly
indicating from all the evidence
00:15:00.53\00:15:02.81
that it would happen.
00:15:02.84\00:15:03.87
And that's where faith steps
in and draws a line between
00:15:04.57\00:15:09.36
what we can see and
feel, and what God says.
00:15:09.39\00:15:13.13
There's a lot of things
that I see and feel in my life
00:15:13.87\00:15:16.55
that make it feel like
it's impossible for God's word
00:15:16.85\00:15:20.27
to be fulfilled in me, for me.
00:15:20.30\00:15:22.99
I feel unworthy.
00:15:23.70\00:15:25.51
I feel like a sinner.
00:15:25.54\00:15:26.90
I see myself failing Jesus.
00:15:26.93\00:15:28.86
I see myself falling
short of the glory of God.
00:15:28.89\00:15:31.34
I feel like I'm
never going to make it.
00:15:31.37\00:15:34.26
But what does God's word say?
00:15:34.29\00:15:35.74
"I'm the author
and I'm the finisher.
00:15:35.84\00:15:38.10
I'm going to
finish what I began."
00:15:38.13\00:15:40.26
I am going to overcome by
the grace of Jesus Christ.
00:15:40.46\00:15:45.11
His grace is sufficient for me.
00:15:45.14\00:15:46.84
These are the promises of God.

So I have to rest my
case on those promises

no matter how ugly I
look when I look in the mirror

in the morning or in the evening
or any time during the day.

I'm not talking
about physical appearance.

Though that might
apply also as I get older.

I'm talking about
the ugliness, the horror,

of the selfishness that I see
over and over again in my life.

And it's the same
with Bible prophecy.

Bible prophecy
cannot be separated

from personal
Christian experience.

They are connected
like a hand and glove.

Even more so.

Like veins in our hands
carrying the lifeblood of faith

to our heart, to our
brain, to everywhere.

And so as I look at the world
today, I say, "Okay, difficult.

1984, really difficult.
Today? Maybe more so."

We think about, for example,
economic boycotts that have
00:16:31.67\00:16:34.67
taken place against nations
like Iran and North Korea
00:16:34.70\00:16:39.61
and Cuba.
00:16:39.64\00:16:40.81
We think about the economic
influence that has taken place
00:16:41.37\00:16:44.79
in countries that are
Muslim, like Pakistan where the
00:16:44.82\00:16:48.14
day that businesses are closed
in this Islamic state is Sunday
00:16:48.17\00:16:52.64
and not Friday,
for economic reasons.
00:16:52.67\00:16:55.13
As we look at this
evidence, and the point here
00:16:55.36\00:16:58.58
in using these examples
is not to make judgments
00:16:58.84\00:17:01.75
for or against those actions
and the nations that follow
00:17:01.78\00:17:05.28
our lead in those actions.

It's just to point them
out as a matter of fact.

They are examples that
help us to see that this
00:17:10.91\00:17:13.48
prophecy in
Revelation can be fulfilled.

That we have already principles
in place that are leading us
00:17:16.37\00:17:20.26
in this direction,
for good or bad reasons,
00:17:20.29\00:17:22.52
whatever you want to say.
00:17:22.55\00:17:24.51
And that down the stream of
time, the general trajectory,

the general
consummation of events today are

leading us to a
place where these words

will be completely fulfilled.

Because people,
whether they're secular or not,

panic when Matthew
24, Mark 13, Luke 21,

when the wars and
rumors of wars terrify them.

When commotions and
fearful signs in the heavens

and earthquakes and natural
disasters overwhelm them.

Think about 9/11.

Just before 9/11 took
place in this country one of the
00:18:03.49\00:18:06.80
biggest issues that was being
debated in the public sphere
00:18:06.83\00:18:11.04
was prayer in public.
00:18:11.07\00:18:13.02
Prayer at football games and
high schools, nativity scenes.
00:18:13.22\00:18:17.52
I mean, there was just
this debate, this conflict,
00:18:17.55\00:18:20.25
that was taking place.
00:18:20.28\00:18:21.31
9/11 hit, and the
President of the United States
00:18:21.34\00:18:23.75
got on the TV and he prayed.
00:18:23.78\00:18:26.74
On national
television he prayed.
00:18:27.21\00:18:29.07
The debate was over.
00:18:29.98\00:18:31.26
The conflict was
done, it was settled.
00:18:31.29\00:18:32.93
There was a crisis before us.
00:18:32.96\00:18:35.30
And that crisis filled
the churches, filled the pews,
00:18:35.70\00:18:41.17
and united all of us under a
religious umbrella, of sorts.
00:18:41.65\00:18:47.78
Now multiply that crisis,
according to Matthew 24:8,
00:18:48.18\00:18:52.17
and of course Mark 13
and Luke 21, where Jesus says

these signs of
natural disasters and wars
00:18:55.57\00:18:58.27
and terror and
commotions in the heavens,
00:18:58.30\00:19:01.37
these signs are
going to increase.
00:19:01.40\00:19:03.05
They're going to be like
birth pangs, they're going to
00:19:03.08\00:19:04.24
increase with
intensity and frequency,
00:19:04.27\00:19:06.11
until finally all the nations
are going to unite together.
00:19:06.96\00:19:09.44
They're going to
have to unite together.
00:19:09.47\00:19:10.59
They're going to have
to do it to somehow remedy,
00:19:10.62\00:19:13.80
to somehow solve,
to somehow bring hope

to the world who have
forsaken the only hope.

And that is the
hope we have in Jesus.

So this first Scripture
in Revelation chapter 13

indicates that there's going
to be some economic control.

And it doesn't matter in this
time if you are rich or poor.

It doesn't matter in this
time if you are strong or weak,

if you are bond or free.

It doesn't matter.

The control is going
to be of such a nature

that it's going to
take a hold of everyone.

Everyone is going
to have to conform

to this economic control.

I would say
everyone will conform.

Because it's going to be more
of a situation where it's like,

"You know, we
really need to do this."

I mean, who's going to oppose
those things that have been

implemented as a result of 9/11?

Certainly I'm not.

I'm not going to go
to the airport and say,

"Well I'm sorry, but I
want to put my liquids in my bag
00:20:09.02\00:20:11.62
and I want to take them through.
00:20:11.65\00:20:12.82
And I want to have my
little pocket knife in there,
00:20:13.11\00:20:15.02
and there's no way you're going
to take that away from me."

I'm not going to
be able to do that.

This is for the
good of the whole nation.

Think about the pressure
that's going to come down

Scripture, prophetic Scripture.

Because it is
challenging and difficult.

Daniel 11:43 says,
"But he," speaking of this

king of the north.
00:22:33.14\00:22:34.32
That's the context,
the flow of the prophecy.

"But he shall have
power over the treasures
00:22:36.51\00:22:40.28
of gold and silver, and over all
the precious things of Egypt.
00:22:40.31\00:22:45.97
And the Libyans and
the Ethiopians shall follow

at his steps,"
or follow after him.

Now, if you combine these
two sections, these prophetic

sections of Scripture
together, what you have is this:

There is a power
in the end of time,

and I would say an
alliance of powers,

that is going to have
control of the gold, the silver,

and the precious things so

That's the basic
message God is giving.

That's why I
believe these two chapters

Now again, there's a little
bit of controversy over this.

This second Scripture in
Daniel can be a little bit more

difficult to understand.

And partly because
Daniel verses 40 through 45

are somewhat controversial.

In our history there have
been varying interpretations.

solid understanding

Just because we need a
little bit of insight, we do,

to understand how and
when this economic control

is going to take place.

We see some principles that
have been in place for a while,

but what's going to
actually usher it in?

Are there some other aspects
that surround this that can

help us to be
prepared and to be established

things I'd like to suggest.

would help us to understand

and only eight people survive.

That was a time of trouble.

In the Dark Ages,
God's people experienced

a time of trouble.

Matthew 24 describes it
as a time of tribulation.
