Prayer Is The Messiah. 00:02:58.74\00:03:01.92 And that's another intriguing topic, Jim. 00:03:01.95\00:03:04.50 But before he does, we get to hear the first family 00:03:04.53\00:03:08.26 of this church. 00:03:08.29\00:03:09.35 Pastor and Sister Schlussler are behind us there. 00:03:09.38\00:03:13.27 And the song that they're going to be doing is, 00:03:13.59\00:03:17.61 Mikamocha. 00:03:17.64\00:03:19.26 And then after that, our speaker Ralph Ringer. 00:03:19.29\00:03:22.61 Who among the gods is like You, O Lord? 00:03:38.67\00:03:41.22 Who is like You, majestic and holiness, very difficult time understanding 00:08:35.73\00:08:40.09 Daniel chapter 9. 00:08:40.12\00:08:42.53 And we're going to look at Daniel 9, a deeper look. 00:08:42.56\00:08:47.98 We are especially looking at verses 24 through 27. 00:08:49.10\00:08:53.22 But to get the setting, let's go back to verse 2. 00:08:54.16\00:08:57.67 And we're just going to summarize now 00:08:59.35\00:09:01.89 the first part of the chapter leading up to verse 24. 00:09:01.92\00:09:06.06 In verse 2, Daniel understood Jeremiah's prophecy 00:09:06.96\00:09:11.27 of the 70 years of desolation for Jerusalem. 00:09:11.71\00:09:16.42 However, Daniel realized it was at his time 00:09:16.86\00:09:23.32 in writing this that the time was about to end, 00:09:23.35\00:09:27.99 or had ended about that time. 00:09:28.02\00:09:31.90 And he had had a vision. 00:09:32.38\00:09:34.28 Verses 3 through 15, Daniel's prayer for his 00:09:34.31\00:09:39.72 and his people's sins. 00:09:39.75\00:09:42.26 Now why was he praying for their sins? 00:09:42.66\00:09:45.26 Back in chapter 8 and verse 14, he had this vision about, 00:09:46.25\00:09:51.81 2300 days, then the sanctuary was to be cleansed. 00:09:51.84\00:09:57.75 He was troubled by it. 00:10:00.26\00:10:01.65 It said he was sick certain days. 00:10:01.68\00:10:03.67 He just couldn't get this out of his mind. 00:10:03.70\00:10:05.95 He didn't understand it. 00:10:05.98\00:10:07.31 But some way in his mind, I think that he was thinking 00:10:07.91\00:10:11.60 this 2300 days was added to the end of that 00:10:11.80\00:10:16.00 70 years of Jeremiah. 00:10:16.03\00:10:18.57 So some way, that time of 70 years of Jeremiah 00:10:18.60\00:10:23.36 was going to be lengthened maybe by this 2300 days. 00:10:23.39\00:10:27.29 And he didn't want that to happen. 00:10:27.32\00:10:30.16 A prayer of intercession in verses 3 through 15. 00:10:30.54\00:10:36.24 He prays for his sins. 00:10:36.27\00:10:38.09 He prays for the sins of his people. 00:10:38.12\00:10:41.66 And in verse 16, he says, turn the anger from Jerusalem. 00:10:41.89\00:10:46.55 Jerusalem had gone away from God and they had been taken 00:10:47.78\00:10:53.01 captive in Babylon. 00:10:53.04\00:10:54.79 And now he's saying, "Lord, turn Your anger away 00:10:54.82\00:10:57.73 so that we can get back to Jerusalem." 00:10:57.76\00:11:00.92 Verse 17, he asks for God's face to shine on the sanctuary. 00:11:02.10\00:11:06.98 Remember, it was 2300 days then the sanctuary 00:11:07.01\00:11:11.19 was to be cleansed. 00:11:11.22\00:11:12.90 So the sanctuary; he wanted the temple to be built 00:11:13.12\00:11:17.31 back again in Jerusalem. 00:11:17.34\00:11:19.67 Then in verse 18, he talks about not delaying 00:11:20.20\00:11:24.95 "for Your city and for Your people" the blessing 00:11:26.01\00:11:28.84 and the restoration that was promised. 00:11:28.87\00:11:32.92 God's answer to Daniel's prayer was the Messiah. 00:11:34.35\00:11:38.32 There was no one else in Israel or all of Israel 00:11:38.35\00:11:43.18 that could fulfill what needed to be done 00:11:43.21\00:11:46.92 to get back right with God. 00:11:46.95\00:11:49.37 Only the Messiah could do that. 00:11:50.72\00:11:52.77 And so, what we find starting in verse 24... 00:11:53.54\00:11:56.82 In fact, this was so important that God sent the angel Gabriel 00:11:56.85\00:12:01.70 all the way from heaven down to Daniel to tell him 00:12:01.73\00:12:04.81 what this vision that he had seen should mean. 00:12:04.84\00:12:08.18 But more than that, to answer his prayer 00:12:08.21\00:12:11.56 about his sins, 00:12:12.32\00:12:15.82 the sins of Israel, 00:12:17.09\00:12:18.53 and the restoration of God's people. 00:12:19.32\00:12:22.30 In verse 24, we read... 00:12:24.40\00:12:26.68 Now, we're going to come back to that, 00:12:33.00\00:12:34.76 but let's read the rest of the verse. 00:12:34.79\00:12:36.84 Now, when we talk about the 70 weeks for his people 00:12:47.99\00:12:52.20 and for his city... 00:12:52.30\00:12:53.77 And it goes on and finishes that verse by saying, 00:12:54.35\00:12:57.38 "...and to seal up the vision and prophecy, 00:12:57.41\00:13:01.35 and to anoint the Most Holy." 00:13:01.38\00:13:03.37 Now the 70 weeks, we're going to come back to 00:13:03.74\00:13:06.99 the rest of the verse and look in detail about it. 00:13:07.02\00:13:10.44 But the only part of verse 24 that deals just with the people 00:13:11.53\00:13:17.20 and the city of Jerusalem, the Israelites and the city, 00:13:17.23\00:13:23.10 was the first line. 00:13:23.13\00:13:25.22 "Seventy weeks are determined upon your people 00:13:25.48\00:13:28.29 and upon your city." 00:13:28.32\00:13:29.63 The rest of it, we will see, directly refers to the Messiah. 00:13:30.75\00:13:35.34 That was God's answer to the prayer. 00:13:35.37\00:13:38.25 You want reconciliation for sin, you want your sins forgiven 00:13:39.08\00:13:44.14 that you've prayed for in the first part of this chapter. 00:13:44.17\00:13:47.35 You want God's people to be back in Jerusalem. 00:13:47.38\00:13:51.33 And you want them to be secure. 00:13:51.36\00:13:53.30 You want them to be restored in harmony with God. 00:13:53.33\00:13:56.80 That's only going to happen in one way. 00:13:56.83\00:13:58.41 And that's the Messiah coming. 00:13:58.44\00:14:00.12 And so he goes down, and we'll see the breakdown of such. 00:14:00.75\00:14:04.83 But let's look at the 70 weeks. 00:14:05.78\00:14:07.54 Daniel 9:24-27 is the most complete Messianic prophecy 00:14:07.74\00:14:14.69 in all the Scripture. 00:14:14.72\00:14:16.11 It has all kinds of details, which we'll see. 00:14:17.10\00:14:20.74 But it even has a timeline exactly when He's coming, 00:14:20.77\00:14:24.26 how long, and what He's going to do while He's here. 00:14:24.29\00:14:26.71 And so, let's notice in Ezekiel 4:6 to understand 00:14:28.46\00:14:32.81 Daniel and Revelation. 00:14:32.84\00:14:35.22 Both are apocalyptic literature. 00:14:35.25\00:14:37.39 That's a big word meaning it's written in symbols. 00:14:37.42\00:14:40.39 That's why you have so many beasts and seals, and all the 00:14:40.42\00:14:43.24 other kinds of things. 00:14:43.27\00:14:44.53 It's written in symbols. 00:14:44.56\00:14:46.06 Remember, Daniel was a captive in Babylon 00:14:46.74\00:14:51.00 as the book of Daniel was written. 00:14:51.03\00:14:53.39 John was on the isle of Patmos, a prisoner, 00:14:53.42\00:14:57.74 when the book of Revelation was written. 00:14:57.77\00:14:59.66 And so it was written in symbols to get the word out. 00:14:59.69\00:15:04.48 And I don't have time to go into more of that. 00:15:04.51\00:15:07.04 But the symbols are found in the rest of Scripture. 00:15:07.15\00:15:10.48 In Ezekiel 4:6, and also Numbers 14:34 00:15:10.68\00:15:15.37 that's not listed on the screen here, tells us, 00:15:15.40\00:15:18.43 "each day for a year." 00:15:18.46\00:15:20.33 That was just like, Israel wandered in the wilderness 00:15:22.44\00:15:26.22 for 40 years, and each day for a year. 00:15:26.25\00:15:29.20 Because they had searched the land out 40 days, remember. 00:15:29.49\00:15:32.66 And so, this symbol was used. 00:15:32.99\00:15:35.60 We can make sure that it works out, as we will see 00:15:36.46\00:15:39.03 in a few moments. 00:15:39.06\00:15:40.24 So the 70 weeks, they were 70 prophetic weeks. 00:15:40.92\00:15:45.48 How many days are there in a week? 00:15:45.51\00:15:47.29 Seven. 00:15:48.04\00:15:49.07 So 7 times 70 is how many? 00:15:49.10\00:15:51.58 That's 490 prophetic days. 00:15:52.39\00:15:56.10 Each day equaling a year would be 490 literal years. 00:15:56.13\00:16:02.77 But when did the prophecy start? 00:16:03.53\00:16:05.30 Now we need to remember... 00:16:05.33\00:16:06.92 And sometimes, there are many Bible students 00:16:07.38\00:16:10.17 that will try to jump for the 2300 days immediately 00:16:10.39\00:16:15.15 and use the 70 weeks as a jump off point. 00:16:15.18\00:16:18.21 But they have really missed some of the deepest 00:16:18.60\00:16:21.10 prophecies about the Messiah, and the importance. 00:16:21.13\00:16:24.84 Yes, it is the beginning, the first 490 years 00:16:25.14\00:16:29.72 of the 2300 years of the prophecy of Daniel 8:14. 00:16:29.75\00:16:35.05 But now let's notice when it starts. 00:16:35.68\00:16:38.20 Starting in verse 25 of Daniel 9... 00:16:38.23\00:16:41.53 Now let's stop right here for a moment. 00:17:01.19\00:17:03.35 Why do we have it saying, "seven weeks and sixty-two weeks?" 00:17:03.91\00:17:10.36 Very simple, Jerusalem would be built in the 7 weeks. 00:17:11.01\00:17:15.56 And then you go 62 more weeks to the Messiah. 00:17:15.86\00:17:20.05 That's a total of 69. 00:17:20.08\00:17:21.91 And by the way, Messiah the Prince just mentioned there 00:17:22.70\00:17:26.77 in verse 25, now notice it mentions Messiah another time. 00:17:26.80\00:17:32.96 "...and the wall, even in troublous times..." 00:17:33.25\00:17:36.56 Do you get the picture? 00:17:44.73\00:17:45.76 Seven weeks or 49 years, Jerusalem is 00:17:45.79\00:17:49.21 going to be rebuilt. 00:17:49.24\00:17:50.51 Okay? 00:17:51.52\00:17:52.55 And then, another 62 weeks until the Messiah will be cut off, 00:17:52.58\00:18:00.92 but not for Himself. 00:18:00.95\00:18:02.50 That's the Messiah the Priest, or the Savior. 00:18:02.70\00:18:07.11 So the Messiah the Prince, Messiah cut off but 00:18:07.52\00:18:11.51 not for Himself, and the anointed One. 00:18:11.54\00:18:13.70 We're going to come back to that anointed One. 00:18:13.73\00:18:15.78 Three times in this passage it refers to the Messiah. 00:18:15.81\00:18:20.85 By the way, "three" just happens to be one of the 00:18:21.45\00:18:24.08 numbers for God. 00:18:24.11\00:18:25.66 And so let's go on now. 00:18:26.59\00:18:30.04 So when did that decree to go and build Jerusalem... 00:18:31.69\00:18:35.94 We can look in Ezra chapter 7. 00:18:35.97\00:18:37.90 There was more than one decree. 00:18:37.93\00:18:39.59 But there was only one that not only was made, 00:18:39.79\00:18:42.97 but the provisions and the monies to do it were given. 00:18:43.47\00:18:46.94 And it was accomplished. 00:18:47.14\00:18:48.88 That's the one we have in Ezra 7. 00:18:48.91\00:18:51.31 And that happened in 457 BC. 00:18:51.34\00:18:54.53 If we fast forward... 00:18:55.64\00:18:57.14 And some of you mathematicians, 69 times 7 is how much? 00:18:57.62\00:19:02.32 Well you've got it on the screen if you're not a mathematician. 00:19:03.85\00:19:06.25 It's 483 years. 00:19:06.28\00:19:09.12 483 years; 457 to AD 27. 00:19:09.66\00:19:16.03 Now the word, "Messiah," means, "the anointed One." 00:19:16.06\00:19:20.34 At what time and at what point was Jesus anointed 00:19:22.04\00:19:27.79 by the Holy Spirit? 00:19:27.82\00:19:29.41 It was at His baptism, wasn't it? 00:19:31.51\00:19:33.04 The Holy Spirit came down in the form of a dove. 00:19:33.07\00:19:35.89 The voice from heaven saying, "This is My beloved Son, 00:19:35.92\00:19:38.91 in whom I am well pleased." 00:19:38.94\00:19:40.52 So here... Oh, wait a minute. 00:19:41.23\00:19:43.41 If you follow this through, now if you're a real 00:19:44.05\00:19:46.31 technical person, there's no year zero from BC to AD. 00:19:46.34\00:19:51.15 That's why it's 27, if you're doing the math. 00:19:51.18\00:19:57.07 But wait a minute. 00:19:58.66\00:19:59.69 At His baptism; His anointing. 00:20:00.32\00:20:03.59 He lived 30 years as an average man. 00:20:03.62\00:20:07.95 In His day, 30 years was the average lifespan of a person, 00:20:08.82\00:20:14.67 of a man. 00:20:14.70\00:20:15.73 He lived as the average person a perfect sinless life 00:20:17.10\00:20:22.30 before He had the three and a half years of ministry. 00:20:22.33\00:20:26.98 He was baptized, He was anointed, 00:20:27.01\00:20:30.13 and He had three and a half years of public ministry. 00:20:30.16\00:20:33.33 And so let's go back to Daniel 9:24 though, 00:20:33.91\00:20:37.03 what it said about the Messiah. 00:20:37.06\00:20:39.04 There are six prepositional phrases in verse 24. 00:20:40.51\00:20:45.97 And the antecedent to those prepositional phrases 00:20:46.00\00:20:50.19 is in Daniel 9:27. 00:20:50.22\00:20:54.86 Now, being the Director of Jewish Ministries, 00:20:55.44\00:21:00.17 North American Division, I go to the World Jewish Advisory 00:21:00.20\00:21:05.41 that happens about every couple of years. 00:21:05.44\00:21:07.62 I have learned a tremendous amount. 00:21:08.49\00:21:10.50 And scholars from four continents, Jewish scholars, 00:21:10.53\00:21:16.84 that really study the issues. 00:21:16.87\00:21:19.92 And in 2006, 2008, and especially this last year, 2013, 00:21:20.26\00:21:30.09 there were some special things that I learned 00:21:30.34\00:21:32.87 from those that Hebrew is a native language. 00:21:34.30\00:21:38.78 They are there. 00:21:39.41\00:21:40.51 And in 2008, I remember learning about these phrases and how 00:21:40.54\00:21:48.00 all these phrases refer to the Messiah. 00:21:48.03\00:21:50.65 And then in 2013, that all the verbs... 00:21:51.76\00:21:58.94 Because in these three day meetings, we have 00:21:58.97\00:22:01.87 a couple days where it goes deep into some of the things 00:22:01.90\00:22:05.37 of Scripture. 00:22:05.57\00:22:06.89 And I came back... 00:22:07.86\00:22:09.37 Especially when I learned all these phrases. 00:22:09.57\00:22:12.14 Because they were talking about them in Hebrew, 00:22:12.44\00:22:14.38 and things were so deep. 00:22:14.41\00:22:15.72 These were all Ph.D. Jewish scholars. 00:22:15.92\00:22:20.57 And it was so deep, I got the gist of it. 00:22:20.86\00:22:24.03 But the Hebrew was a little deeper than I could 00:22:24.06\00:22:26.90 fully understand, but I got the message. 00:22:26.93\00:22:29.35 And I said, I've got to get this into the English language 00:22:29.45\00:22:32.00 and other people can understand. 00:22:32.03\00:22:33.92 And I'm all excited sharing with my English professor daughter 00:22:34.16\00:22:39.21 about these Hebrew verbs. 00:22:39.24\00:22:41.82 And not only that, there were six of them. 00:22:41.85\00:22:44.29 And not only six, there were sets of two, two, and two, 00:22:44.32\00:22:48.53 and three and three. 00:22:48.56\00:22:49.62 And that was more... 00:22:49.65\00:22:50.68 And with the antecedent, that seventh one made it 00:22:51.09\00:22:53.76 even more impressible and more important. 00:22:53.79\00:22:56.14 And I was trying to share this. 00:22:56.24\00:22:57.94 And my daughter, who has Medieval English 00:22:58.60\00:23:00.88 Literature Ph.D., who had to have a reading knowledge of 00:23:00.91\00:23:05.04 Hebrew, Greek, a whole bunch of other languages, 00:23:05.07\00:23:07.80 about seven languages... 00:23:07.83\00:23:09.15 And I'm sharing with this about the Hebrew, 00:23:09.58\00:23:11.82 because she knew some Hebrew. 00:23:11.85\00:23:12.96 And she says, "Well, Dad..." 00:23:13.06\00:23:14.51 You know how our kids are. 00:23:14.54\00:23:16.00 "Well, Dad, it's in the English too." 00:23:16.03\00:23:19.48 And I said, "What do you mean?" 00:23:19.51\00:23:20.86 You see, I never did good in English. 00:23:21.22\00:23:22.96 I gave her everything I had, so that's why 00:23:22.99\00:23:24.82 I didn't have any English. 00:23:24.85\00:23:25.88 I tease her of that, but it's really, I never had any. 00:23:26.17\00:23:29.81 And she got it from her mom, but don't tell her that. 00:23:29.88\00:23:32.25 And she says, "There are six prepositional phrases." 00:23:33.79\00:23:37.31 I said, "There are?" 00:23:38.02\00:23:39.48 And she says, "Yeah look, it says, 00:23:39.81\00:23:41.66 'to finish...', 'to make...', 'to make...', 'to bring...'" 00:23:41.69\00:23:44.59 "Oh, hey, they are prepositional phrases." 00:23:45.65\00:23:49.08 Except the antecedent is in verse 27. 00:23:49.64\00:23:52.05 So we've got the same thing in English. 00:23:53.37\00:23:54.93 So I don't have to teach her a Hebrew lesson. 00:23:54.96\00:23:57.00 I wouldn't be a good teacher anyway. 00:23:57.03\00:23:58.70 Sasha would have to do that. 00:23:58.73\00:24:00.28 But let's look at all six of these and how no Israelite, 00:24:00.38\00:24:04.22 except the Messiah, could fulfill it. 00:24:04.25\00:24:06.86 Let's look. 00:24:06.89\00:24:07.95 "To finish the transgression." 00:24:07.98\00:24:10.32 I don't have time to go into detail. 00:24:10.52\00:24:12.76 "The transgression," is refering to the rebellion 00:24:12.96\00:24:17.00 of sin that happened in the Garden of Eden. 00:24:17.03\00:24:20.51 Eve and then Adam, and their rebellion. 00:24:21.36\00:24:24.32 Every person since Adam and Eve sinned on this earth 00:24:24.35\00:24:29.23 has sinned in rebellion against God, except the Messiah, Jesus. 00:24:29.26\00:24:37.49 So Jesus finishes the sin. 00:24:38.72\00:24:41.37 Daniel had been praying for his sins and the sins 00:24:41.68\00:24:45.07 of his people. 00:24:45.10\00:24:46.47 And God is saying, "Okay, I'll answer that. 00:24:46.50\00:24:51.24 But the only way I can answer it is in the Messiah. 00:24:51.27\00:24:53.99 I'm going to send the Messiah." 00:24:54.02\00:24:55.38 Secondly... 00:24:56.74\00:24:57.93 And you see there in the parenthesis there, the numbers. 00:24:58.13\00:25:02.75 The numbers aren't in the original verse. 00:25:02.78\00:25:04.42 That's what I put in so you can see how the six are there. 00:25:04.45\00:25:08.79 And the second one, "To make an end of sins." 00:25:09.26\00:25:14.21 Jesus was the... 00:25:15.49\00:25:17.01 Not only did He bring about the end of the rebellion, 00:25:17.04\00:25:20.86 because He was totally in harmony with God, 00:25:20.89\00:25:23.42 but He lived the sinless life. 00:25:23.81\00:25:26.67 He was tempted in all points like us, but without sin. 00:25:26.70\00:25:31.52 So now we have the perfect sinless life. 00:25:33.28\00:25:37.38 Thirdly, "To make reconciliation for iniquity." 00:25:40.41\00:25:44.41 "To make reconciliation for iniquity." 00:25:45.44\00:25:48.46 Well, wait a minute. 00:25:49.35\00:25:51.12 How was reconciliation made? 00:25:51.66\00:25:54.28 If you find, and I don't have it on the screen, 00:25:54.71\00:25:57.49 Romans chapter 5 and verse 10. 00:25:57.69\00:26:01.42 I wish we had time to go through a lot in Romans chapter 5. 00:26:01.45\00:26:04.70 But in verse 10 it says, "For if when we were enemies 00:26:05.68\00:26:10.48 we were reconciled to God through..." What? 00:26:10.51\00:26:14.21 "...the death of His Son..." 00:26:14.41\00:26:17.32 Oh, we're reconciled by the death of Jesus. 00:26:18.38\00:26:21.78 So when we look at that third one, this is the cross. 00:26:21.81\00:26:26.46 The Messiah that came to die for us. 00:26:27.26\00:26:31.03 The fourth one, "To bring in everlasting righteousness." 00:26:31.23\00:26:34.69 Notice the last part of that verse. 00:26:34.72\00:26:37.40 It says, "...much more, having been reconciled, 00:26:38.09\00:26:42.84 we shall be saved by His..." What? 00:26:42.87\00:26:46.17 His life? 00:26:46.95\00:26:48.26 Wait a minute. 00:26:49.13\00:26:50.16 We're reconciled by His death, by His blood. 00:26:50.19\00:26:54.74 We're saved by His life. 00:26:54.77\00:26:56.80 Oh, have you heard of righteousness by faith? 00:26:56.83\00:26:59.28 The apostle Paul is always talking about how we're 00:27:00.07\00:27:02.02 saved by His righteousness. 00:27:02.05\00:27:03.76 That's why Jesus had to live the perfect life, 00:27:04.42\00:27:07.59 before He died the perfect death. 00:27:07.62\00:27:09.97 So not only does He wash away our sins, His perfect life 00:27:10.62\00:27:15.15 stands instead of our sinful life. 00:27:15.18\00:27:20.23 That's how we're perfect before God; 00:27:21.59\00:27:23.75 by Jesus' death and by Jesus' life. 00:27:23.78\00:27:27.03 So here, "to bring in everlasting righteousness;" 00:27:28.38\00:27:31.60 there has never been and never will be 00:27:31.63\00:27:34.81 any Jew, anyone of Daniel's people, of Daniel's city, 00:27:34.84\00:27:39.81 that lived the perfect life except the Messiah. 00:27:39.84\00:27:43.11 And this prophesied the Messiah. 00:27:44.50\00:27:46.38 Then number five, "And to seal up the vision and prophecy." 00:27:48.05\00:27:52.01 "To seal up..." 00:27:52.04\00:27:53.18 That's to ratify, make sure. 00:27:53.38\00:27:56.75 To ratify. Oh, wait a minute. 00:27:58.13\00:28:00.44 All the Messianic prophecies throughout the Old Testament, 00:28:00.47\00:28:04.54 and especially this one, are all going to be confirmed 00:28:04.57\00:28:09.14 and ratified in the life and ministry of the Messiah. 00:28:09.17\00:28:13.31 Number six, "And to anoint the Most Holy." 00:28:15.39\00:28:19.27 Now I have the New Kings James here, and that's why 00:28:20.42\00:28:22.81 "Most Holy," both words are capitalized. 00:28:22.84\00:28:27.95 In the New King James, the pronouns and 00:28:28.40\00:28:30.93 any other titles or names that refer to the Father, 00:28:30.96\00:28:34.34 to Jesus, or the Holy Spirit are capitalized. 00:28:34.64\00:28:37.36 When the translators look and they see that direct lineage. 00:28:37.46\00:28:42.55 And I'm going to refer back to that later. 00:28:42.58\00:28:44.62 But showing the "Most Holy" refers to the Messiah. 00:28:44.82\00:28:48.14 Now I know there are some scholars that say, 00:28:48.17\00:28:50.64 "Well, that was anointing the Most Holy Place 00:28:50.67\00:28:54.03 in the sanctuary, the temple." 00:28:54.06\00:28:57.72 But wait a minute. 00:28:57.82\00:28:58.85 That whole temple was a symbol, and especially the Most Holy, 00:28:58.99\00:29:03.61 was a symbol of God and God's presence among His people. 00:29:03.71\00:29:07.12 Wasn't it? 00:29:07.15\00:29:08.18 And why was Jesus... 00:29:08.35\00:29:09.95 One of His names is called, Emmanuel. 00:29:09.98\00:29:12.90 Which means what? 00:29:12.93\00:29:13.97 God with us. 00:29:14.18\00:29:16.96 And so what we have is, He was here. 00:29:16.99\00:29:21.87 And He was in the temple. 00:29:21.90\00:29:24.42 He said, "Destroy this temple, in three days I'll rise again." 00:29:24.71\00:29:29.82 He was that Most Holy. 00:29:30.00\00:29:32.26 Do you see, everyone of these verbs and of these phrases 00:29:33.03\00:29:40.26 all point to the Messiah. 00:29:41.39\00:29:43.49 And only the Messiah could fulfill them. 00:29:43.97\00:29:46.94 No one else could. 00:29:47.49\00:29:48.84 This is God's answer to Daniel's prayer. 00:29:48.87\00:29:52.07 And if you look at the texts on the screen there, Luke 3:21, 00:29:53.76\00:29:58.50 etcetera, those are pointing about the anointing of Jesus. 00:29:58.53\00:30:02.36 Now let's go to verse 27, the antecedent. 00:30:04.21\00:30:07.15 Now just in case some of you read the last part of verse 26 00:30:07.18\00:30:10.65 and the last part of verse 27; seem to be talking about 00:30:10.93\00:30:16.32 not the Messiah but the enemy. 00:30:16.92\00:30:19.83 This is a typical Jewish thing. 00:30:20.23\00:30:22.32 And I'm glad the scholars said that. 00:30:22.35\00:30:25.75 I've said it for a long time, but now I'm glad to have 00:30:25.78\00:30:28.18 some scholars backing me up on it. 00:30:28.21\00:30:29.98 The Jewish way is, they talk about this and then 00:30:30.66\00:30:33.44 they show the contrast. 00:30:33.47\00:30:34.52 And then they come back to this. 00:30:34.55\00:30:35.71 That's just the Jewish way of doing it. 00:30:35.74\00:30:37.45 And that's why it was done that way. 00:30:37.48\00:30:38.98 And I won't say any more about that. 00:30:39.52\00:30:40.89 Let's go to the first part of verse 27 of Daniel 9. 00:30:40.92\00:30:45.77 Now let's stop right here just a minute. 00:30:59.36\00:31:00.94 He's going to confirm the covenant with many. 00:31:01.54\00:31:04.27 Now wait a minute, who is the "many?" 00:31:04.92\00:31:06.55 That goes back to verse 24. 00:31:07.02\00:31:08.83 Daniel and his people and his city, right? 00:31:09.43\00:31:12.47 He's going to confirm that He's going to fulfill what He said 00:31:12.57\00:31:18.24 He would do, but He's going to do it in the Messiah. 00:31:18.27\00:31:21.77 Because, now as the antecedent to those 00:31:21.80\00:31:24.81 six prepositional phrases, "In the middle of the week 00:31:24.84\00:31:29.05 He shall bring the end of sacrifice and offering." 00:31:29.08\00:31:32.73 What does that mean? 00:31:33.97\00:31:35.13 Now Alex, this morning I saw that you didn't sacrifice 00:31:36.30\00:31:39.21 a lamb at the worship service. 00:31:39.24\00:31:41.57 Why didn't you do that? 00:31:42.07\00:31:43.38 Oh, you couldn't catch him. 00:31:44.73\00:31:46.16 I think there's a better reason than that. 00:31:46.52\00:31:48.66 As John the Baptist said, "Behold, the Lamb that 00:31:51.50\00:31:55.49 takes away the sin of the world." 00:31:55.52\00:31:57.58 Twenty-seven times in the book of Revelation, 00:31:58.92\00:32:02.44 Jesus is referred to as the Lamb. 00:32:02.47\00:32:05.76 He is the sacrifice. 00:32:07.10\00:32:09.32 Daniel was praying for his sins and the sins of his people. 00:32:11.18\00:32:15.57 And the only way those sins could be washed away 00:32:15.60\00:32:19.29 is the Lamb of God, the Messiah. 00:32:19.32\00:32:21.60 The Priest died on the cross of Calvary. 00:32:22.14\00:32:25.36 This is the antecedent to those six prepositional phrases. 00:32:27.37\00:32:31.84 He did it in the midst of that week. 00:32:32.38\00:32:35.04 Remember, 69 weeks took us down to the time of the baptism. 00:32:35.07\00:32:40.34 It left one more week. 00:32:41.24\00:32:43.14 And in the midst of that week, He causes 00:32:43.34\00:32:47.52 the sacrifice to cease. 00:32:47.55\00:32:50.27 We don't sacrifice lambs now because the Lamb of God, 00:32:50.30\00:32:53.71 Jesus Christ, has died on the cross of Calvary 00:32:53.74\00:32:56.74 for the sins of all the people, for reconciliation 00:32:56.77\00:33:00.72 for not only Israel, but also for the Gentiles. 00:33:00.75\00:33:04.65 Now when we look at this, there are some people... 00:33:07.00\00:33:11.44 When I started ministry, there was almost no one doing this. 00:33:12.38\00:33:15.39 There were no ministers, no really denominations, 00:33:15.42\00:33:19.59 talking about this at all. 00:33:19.86\00:33:22.07 But now with the idea, and Alex referred to it this morning, 00:33:22.17\00:33:26.04 the idea of a pre-tribulation rapture, 00:33:26.07\00:33:30.26 or catching away at some point. 00:33:30.29\00:33:32.40 And they try to throw this... 00:33:32.60\00:33:34.74 And this is the verse they use for seven years 00:33:35.28\00:33:37.73 of tribulation, or whatever. 00:33:37.76\00:33:39.17 And they throw it clear over to the end of time. 00:33:39.20\00:33:41.59 But wait a minute. 00:33:43.79\00:33:44.93 If that is correct, there is no Messiah 00:33:45.19\00:33:48.90 and there never can be. 00:33:48.93\00:33:50.45 Think about it. 00:33:51.62\00:33:52.78 He had to fulfill. 00:33:52.81\00:33:54.44 This is the antecedent to all six of the ones 00:33:54.47\00:33:58.32 listed in verse 24. 00:33:58.35\00:34:00.19 And if this doesn't apply there, what Jesus came and did 00:34:00.72\00:34:05.11 on earth is all a waste. 00:34:05.14\00:34:07.44 It shows this. 00:34:10.42\00:34:11.98 And where else in the Bible do we have a continuous prophecy 00:34:12.01\00:34:16.55 that you break off one part and you throw it way over there? 00:34:16.58\00:34:19.93 That doesn't make sense just to a common person, 00:34:20.97\00:34:24.02 let alone a scholar looking at prophecy. 00:34:24.05\00:34:28.02 But it's like so many other things. 00:34:28.75\00:34:30.68 There are so many teachings today where people, 00:34:30.71\00:34:33.74 they already believe something. 00:34:34.06\00:34:35.51 They look at the Bible to see if they can prove 00:34:35.54\00:34:38.04 what they already believe. 00:34:38.07\00:34:39.33 They're not interested in knowing truth. 00:34:39.36\00:34:41.24 They're trying to prove their point. 00:34:41.27\00:34:43.56 And that is what has happened. 00:34:44.15\00:34:45.97 People today, you know... 00:34:46.00\00:34:48.25 Many of the Jews, because they were looking for a King, 00:34:48.35\00:34:51.50 when a Savior came they didn't accept Him. 00:34:51.53\00:34:55.26 Many did, as we pointed out. 00:34:55.57\00:34:57.38 But the majority did not. 00:34:57.41\00:35:00.48 And Revelation points out, the same thing is 00:35:01.20\00:35:04.04 going to be at the end of time. 00:35:04.07\00:35:05.10 They're looking for a Savior, a rapture, and not for a King 00:35:05.13\00:35:10.55 that's going to settle all the scores. 00:35:11.09\00:35:13.02 And so what we have, the devil deceives the Jews. 00:35:14.27\00:35:17.99 And the Christians, the majority of professed Christians 00:35:18.02\00:35:23.46 the same as the majority of the Jews, 00:35:23.49\00:35:26.01 that they don't accept Him as Savior or as King. 00:35:26.21\00:35:30.18 But this Daniel 9 prophecy said He's going to come 00:35:30.98\00:35:34.33 as a Prince or a King, and He was the Messiah that is cut off 00:35:34.36\00:35:39.46 but not for Himself; our Savior. 00:35:39.49\00:35:41.37 We need to accept Him as both, and the sequence that was given. 00:35:42.60\00:35:47.14 And by the way, Aaron was anointed before the first king, 00:35:47.17\00:35:51.70 in the Old Testament. 00:35:51.73\00:35:53.74 That's should have given a little light. 00:35:53.77\00:35:55.33 The fact that; wait a minute, hey. 00:35:55.36\00:35:58.69 The Savior comes and then the King comes. 00:35:58.72\00:36:01.35 And they got it backwards. 00:36:01.68\00:36:04.12 And today, many Christians are getting it backwards as well. 00:36:04.15\00:36:08.01 So what we look at here, from 457 to AD 27, 00:36:08.27\00:36:12.38 Jesus died on the cross in AD 31. 00:36:12.59\00:36:15.65 But what happened three and a half years later? 00:36:16.19\00:36:19.31 You see, that only takes us half way through this last week. 00:36:19.34\00:36:22.59 Well, "the gospel goes to the Gentiles" 00:36:24.11\00:36:26.50 was mentioned in this series. 00:36:26.53\00:36:28.27 In AD 34 and we look at the stoning of Stephen... 00:36:28.30\00:36:31.01 And we're going to look at that a little more 00:36:31.04\00:36:32.87 closely in a moment. 00:36:32.90\00:36:34.09 But they say the gospel goes to the Gentiles. 00:36:34.91\00:36:36.95 And that's right. 00:36:36.98\00:36:38.07 And so what happened? 00:36:39.57\00:36:41.54 In those three and a half years, the words of Jesus 00:36:41.57\00:36:45.55 in Acts 1:8 are fulfilled. 00:36:45.83\00:36:48.25 He said, "You'll be My witnesses..." 00:36:48.28\00:36:49.86 Do you remember where it starts? 00:36:50.07\00:36:51.49 Jerusalem. 00:36:51.79\00:36:52.82 Then He says Judea. 00:36:53.01\00:36:55.03 Then He says Samaria. 00:36:55.36\00:36:57.37 And then where? 00:36:57.40\00:36:58.43 The uttermost parts of the world. 00:36:58.46\00:37:00.38 You see, it starts in Jerusalem and Judea. 00:37:01.35\00:37:04.64 And for three and a half years, the gospel went 00:37:04.67\00:37:07.48 just to the Jews. 00:37:07.88\00:37:08.92 So all of the early church, 100%, were Jews. 00:37:08.95\00:37:13.52 And then as we go on, let's look at Acts 7; Stephen. 00:37:15.19\00:37:21.46 By the way, there was a transition. 00:37:21.49\00:37:23.28 In the four gospels, the word, "disciples," refer basically 00:37:23.48\00:37:27.87 to the twelve, and a little later to the seventy. 00:37:27.90\00:37:30.13 The same in the first five chapters of Acts. 00:37:30.46\00:37:34.83 That's basically the way it was used. 00:37:34.86\00:37:36.75 But in Acts 6, the word, "disciple," changes. 00:37:36.78\00:37:39.81 And it's for all the church, all the believers. 00:37:39.84\00:37:43.15 And those who had been called disciples 00:37:43.18\00:37:45.68 are now called apostles. 00:37:45.71\00:37:46.90 The rest of the book of Acts, every time it says, "disciples," 00:37:46.93\00:37:50.34 refer to the whole church. 00:37:50.44\00:37:51.87 And when it says, apostles... 00:37:51.90\00:37:54.81 That's why Paul was an apostle, Apollos was an apostle. 00:37:54.84\00:37:57.97 They were leaders. 00:37:58.00\00:37:59.40 Apostles are leaders. 00:38:00.01\00:38:01.18 And the whole church were disciples. 00:38:01.21\00:38:05.94 And that goes along with what Peter talks about, 00:38:05.97\00:38:08.15 the priesthood of all believers. 00:38:08.51\00:38:10.42 You see, the priests were to share the symbols of the gospel. 00:38:10.45\00:38:13.77 They were to show how Jesus came to save them from their sin. 00:38:13.80\00:38:19.44 We are all commissioned to share the gospel. 00:38:19.47\00:38:22.79 So we are priests, the priesthood of God, 00:38:22.82\00:38:26.07 under the High Priest, that we'll look at in just a moment. 00:38:26.27\00:38:29.31 But in Acts chapter 7 verse 55, Stephen, a deacon, 00:38:29.89\00:38:33.78 was called on the red carpet of the Sanhedrin. 00:38:34.08\00:38:36.93 It was a super Sanhedrin. 00:38:37.39\00:38:39.03 Seventy people, men, and the Sanhedrin. 00:38:39.06\00:38:42.98 And there were about 50 priests. 00:38:43.01\00:38:44.80 So there were about 120 there. 00:38:44.83\00:38:47.19 All the hierarchy of Israel, as a nation and as a religion. 00:38:47.22\00:38:54.35 And he tells them the liturgy of what had happened. 00:38:55.41\00:38:58.99 And they didn't like it, because he pointed out 00:38:59.77\00:39:02.09 the things that they had done wrong, and the history, 00:39:02.88\00:39:05.83 and how they had... 00:39:05.86\00:39:07.30 But they kept their mouths shut and sat in their seat 00:39:07.49\00:39:11.38 until starting verse 55. 00:39:11.41\00:39:14.70 This is Acts 7:55. 00:39:15.52\00:39:19.58 What was it? They saw him standing... 00:39:54.79\00:39:57.46 He says, "I see Jesus standing at the right hand of God." 00:39:57.76\00:40:01.01 What did that mean? 00:40:01.68\00:40:02.91 Well, very simply. 00:40:03.85\00:40:05.52 That meant that Caiaphas was no longer the leader. 00:40:07.64\00:40:11.83 And neither was the Sanhedrin. 00:40:12.50\00:40:15.91 We're going to get to that in just a moment. 00:40:15.94\00:40:17.61 But let's look at Acts 9:4-5 when Paul, as Saul he was then, 00:40:18.26\00:40:27.01 the light came down and struck him. 00:40:27.04\00:40:28.95 He said, "Who is it, Lord?" 00:40:28.98\00:40:31.15 And He said, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. 00:40:31.18\00:40:35.22 It is hard for you to kick against the goads." 00:40:35.56\00:40:38.62 Or the pricks, or the thorns. 00:40:38.66\00:40:40.47 Well what was He talking about? 00:40:40.64\00:40:41.86 Saul heard Stephen, saw his face as an angel's face. 00:40:42.20\00:40:47.52 He was convicted and he was pricked in his heart. 00:40:47.55\00:40:50.63 Oh, wait a minute. 00:40:51.33\00:40:52.36 And so the stoning of Stephen started the process 00:40:52.39\00:40:56.33 of converting Saul to Paul, who was the apostle to the Gentiles. 00:40:56.36\00:41:05.11 This is what started the process of the gospel 00:41:05.74\00:41:09.45 going to the Gentiles from a leadership position. 00:41:09.48\00:41:13.31 Then let's go on. 00:41:16.72\00:41:18.02 In Romans 11:13, he said he was the apostle to the Gentiles. 00:41:27.76\00:41:34.08 Change of leadership. 00:41:36.66\00:41:38.05 A change of leadership. 00:41:54.34\00:41:56.25 By the way, this fits in the whole pattern of Daniel. 00:41:56.54\00:41:59.80 Daniel chapter 2, God changes the governmental leadership. 00:42:00.02\00:42:04.85 You know, Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome, 00:42:04.88\00:42:08.36 the divided condition. 00:42:08.39\00:42:09.85 Daniel 7, He uses beasts. 00:42:09.88\00:42:12.28 And it even involves religions. 00:42:12.31\00:42:15.13 Daniel 8, the same thing. 00:42:15.16\00:42:17.09 God sets up and takes down nations and religions. 00:42:17.12\00:42:22.79 And so we find that in Daniel 9, it is perfect harmony for 00:42:23.52\00:42:28.43 the high priest and the Sanhedrin 00:42:28.46\00:42:31.05 to be changed by God to Messiah the Prince 00:42:31.08\00:42:35.90 and Messiah the Priest. 00:42:35.93\00:42:39.39 You see, that fits in with and answers Daniel's prayer. 00:42:40.21\00:42:43.70 He wanted God's people to be back in harmony with Him. 00:42:43.73\00:42:48.46 The Messiah brings it all about. 00:42:48.56\00:42:50.81 And let's see, even as He talked to Pilate, before Pilate, 00:42:53.50\00:42:57.41 Pilate asked Him, "Are You King, then?" 00:42:57.61\00:43:00.89 And notice Jesus' words. 00:43:01.15\00:43:03.12 "Everyone that is in the truth hears My voice." 00:43:15.88\00:43:21.96 Now let's go on and notice what He says before 00:43:22.31\00:43:25.37 Caiaphas the priest, the high priest. 00:43:28.62\00:43:31.56 Oh, when He said, "The right hand of power," 00:43:49.73\00:43:52.92 you see, the Sanhedrin realized it, and the high priest. 00:43:53.13\00:43:57.34 That's when he said, "He has blasphemed. 00:43:57.37\00:43:59.30 He's claiming to be God." 00:43:59.33\00:44:00.78 And that's when they took Him off to Pilate. 00:44:00.81\00:44:03.53 He said he's going to see Him, the next time he saw Him, 00:44:04.68\00:44:06.84 he's going to see Him come in the clouds of heaven. 00:44:06.87\00:44:09.33 So the right hand of the throne, the right hand of God, 00:44:09.51\00:44:12.79 or power, etcetera, referring to Jesus, 00:44:12.82\00:44:17.29 five times in the book of Hebrews 00:44:17.49\00:44:19.48 and 25 times in the Bible; all referring to the Messiah. 00:44:19.51\00:44:24.06 Now as we go on, Hebrews 12:2... 00:44:26.40\00:44:31.25 There we find it in Hebrews. 00:44:44.75\00:44:46.32 Notice in Revelation 3:21. 00:44:46.52\00:44:48.76 And then in Revelation 19:14-16. 00:45:00.01\00:45:03.90 And some say, "Why is the wrath of God here?" 00:45:37.29\00:45:40.49 Because those who have the mark of the beast were going to 00:45:40.52\00:45:43.17 kill His people. 00:45:43.20\00:45:44.51 He is protecting His people. 00:45:44.54\00:45:46.42 He is bringing an end to this great rebellion 00:45:46.45\00:45:49.42 and this great controversy. 00:45:49.45\00:45:51.14 And this, He comes back as King to rule with a rod of iron, 00:45:51.17\00:45:55.36 that was prophesied, to take care and settle this 00:45:55.39\00:45:58.71 situation once and for all. 00:45:58.74\00:46:01.65 Hebrews chapter 9 verse 11. 00:46:02.27\00:46:05.82 And then in verse 24... 00:46:18.60\00:46:20.36 Jesus is referred to in the book of Hebrews sixteen times 00:46:32.89\00:46:37.79 as the High Priest. 00:46:37.82\00:46:39.90 If we go on in Hebrews chapter 6 verses 19 and 20... 00:46:42.08\00:46:45.69 That's the Most Holy Place. 00:46:50.11\00:46:51.77 Now we find that Melchizedek is mentioned nine times 00:47:04.38\00:47:08.18 in the book of Hebrews, eleven times in the Bible. 00:47:08.21\00:47:11.02 And one of those in Psalm 110 verse 4. 00:47:11.79\00:47:15.58 And I wish I had more time to go into all of that. 00:47:21.83\00:47:24.55 But let's go on, Hebrews 7 verses 11 through 17. 00:47:24.58\00:47:28.26 Notice, the priesthood being changed. 00:47:51.27\00:47:53.31 You want eternal life? 00:48:30.89\00:48:32.24 That comes only through the Messiah, the Priest. 00:48:32.27\00:48:36.20 The High Priest that brings endless life. 00:48:36.23\00:48:39.61 Now let's notice, there are three things that brought 00:48:46.90\00:48:49.21 separation between Jews and Christians. 00:48:49.24\00:48:54.43 And especially between the Jewish believers and the 00:48:55.11\00:48:58.79 Christians in the second through the fifth century. 00:48:58.82\00:49:01.51 Because of the persecution, because the Christians 00:49:12.85\00:49:16.75 were looked at as a sect of Judaism, and for the first 00:49:17.61\00:49:22.09 century basically, the Jews outnumbered the 00:49:22.12\00:49:26.80 Gentiles in the church. 00:49:26.83\00:49:28.17 While Gentiles came in, there were still more Jews. 00:49:28.20\00:49:30.67 But that transition about the turn of that century, 00:49:30.70\00:49:33.94 a little before, a little after, changed so that there 00:49:33.97\00:49:36.94 were more Gentiles than now Jews in the church. 00:49:36.97\00:49:40.23 And Rome had persecuted the Jews. 00:49:41.38\00:49:46.64 And the Jews were causing trouble and bringing up 00:49:46.67\00:49:50.17 rebellion, and many of them wanted to bring separation. 00:49:50.20\00:49:53.88 Well I won't go through all the history of all of that. 00:49:53.91\00:49:56.86 But suffice it to say that the church wanted to make a change, 00:49:56.89\00:50:02.21 and many of the leadership did. 00:50:02.31\00:50:04.32 And so what happened is, in order to change the Sabbath, 00:50:04.35\00:50:09.84 they needed two things to help it to happen. 00:50:09.87\00:50:12.28 Number one, replacement theology. 00:50:12.31\00:50:14.83 The church replaces the Jews. 00:50:14.86\00:50:17.16 Now they're in charge and they can change. 00:50:17.19\00:50:19.25 Secondly, the clergy is over the laity. 00:50:19.28\00:50:22.43 It's no longer the discipleship of all believers. 00:50:22.46\00:50:24.92 The clergy is here and the people had to listen 00:50:24.95\00:50:27.37 to what the clergy said. 00:50:27.40\00:50:28.56 And with those two things helping to enable 00:50:28.59\00:50:33.22 the change of the Sabbath to happen. 00:50:33.42\00:50:35.48 And that's how it came about. 00:50:36.85\00:50:39.23 But not only was it the change of the Sabbath, 00:50:39.26\00:50:41.89 they threw out any of the things that dealt with 00:50:41.92\00:50:44.75 the feast days. 00:50:45.40\00:50:46.43 They threw out everything mostly of the Old Testament. 00:50:46.46\00:50:49.42 They brought in pagan things like Christmas and Easter, 00:50:49.45\00:50:55.00 the pagan ceremonies. 00:50:55.03\00:50:56.27 And they made them, you know, of the birth 00:50:56.30\00:50:59.86 and the resurrection. 00:50:59.89\00:51:01.11 Two wonderful things in the Bible, but they brought those 00:51:01.14\00:51:04.38 things in, and all of this turned away the Jews. 00:51:04.41\00:51:07.94 They didn't want anything to do with that, 00:51:08.44\00:51:10.32 the Jews that believed. 00:51:11.21\00:51:12.24 And pretty soon, as they died off through the Dark Ages, 00:51:12.27\00:51:16.14 things continued to go on. 00:51:16.17\00:51:18.40 But now let's come on into the New Testament. 00:51:18.43\00:51:20.46 We have just a short time and a long ways to go here. 00:51:20.49\00:51:23.00 Notice that. 00:52:00.17\00:52:01.43 Here, it's talking about his own countrymen 00:52:01.67\00:52:05.57 and how all these things, all these blessings... 00:52:05.60\00:52:07.92 That's been pointed out this weekend 00:52:07.95\00:52:09.85 during this series. 00:52:10.99\00:52:12.26 But going on in Romans 9 verses 2 through 8... 00:52:12.36\00:52:15.81 You see, what happened in AD 34, the gospel goes to the Gentiles. 00:52:49.68\00:52:54.41 They added to the Jews. 00:52:54.44\00:52:56.69 In other words, the Jews that already believed. 00:52:56.72\00:52:58.39 Now the Gentiles that believed were all added to them. 00:52:58.42\00:53:01.16 And we'll look at that a little bit more in a moment. 00:53:01.55\00:53:04.33 But I want you to notice it says here... 00:53:04.57\00:53:07.35 Notice the word "remnant" here in verse 27. 00:53:17.45\00:53:20.78 Notice, at the end of time when the work is finished, 00:53:30.45\00:53:34.99 he said a remnant of them will be there. 00:53:35.02\00:53:37.73 Now also in Romans 10 verses 1 through 4... 00:53:38.39\00:53:43.02 And I see my time. 00:53:44.67\00:53:45.89 You're going to need to read those verses on your own. 00:53:45.92\00:53:50.33 He's talking about they were trying to establish 00:53:50.36\00:53:52.49 their own righteousness instead of the righteousness of God. 00:53:52.52\00:53:55.41 But in chapter 11, and we want to look at especially 00:53:55.76\00:53:59.16 these first four verses... 00:53:59.19\00:54:00.56 A lot of people say they're gone, they're cast away. 00:54:04.41\00:54:06.75 Notice the next two words. What are they? 00:54:06.95\00:54:09.27 Notice he says, "Certainly not. 00:54:22.96\00:54:24.82 They haven't been cast away." 00:54:24.85\00:54:26.45 And God has not cast away His people. 00:54:26.48\00:54:31.26 When we say He has, then we're calling God a liar, 00:54:31.29\00:54:35.24 whether we mean to or not. 00:54:35.27\00:54:36.92 And then going on, he's using Elijah. 00:54:37.59\00:54:41.08 And Elijah says to the Lord, "I'm the only one left. 00:54:41.28\00:54:45.22 They're killing the prophets." 00:54:45.25\00:54:46.28 And notice what he goes on and says... 00:54:46.31\00:54:48.42 Notice these next two lines. 00:54:54.91\00:54:56.90 This is now probably close to between 20 and 30 years 00:55:05.40\00:55:12.20 after the gospel goes to the Gentiles after AD 34. 00:55:12.23\00:55:16.11 And he says there is now a remnant of Israel here. 00:55:16.14\00:55:20.78 Now as we go on, and since Pastor Alex did so well 00:55:21.41\00:55:25.93 with the first part of Romans 11 here, 15 on, 00:55:25.96\00:55:30.21 in his sermon this morning, I won't go to all of that. 00:55:30.24\00:55:33.60 But just mention this, here is the tree. 00:55:33.63\00:55:37.19 Branches were cut off of the olive tree. 00:55:37.77\00:55:40.26 Wild branches were grafted in. 00:55:40.29\00:55:42.53 And wait a minute. 00:55:44.14\00:55:45.17 The wild branches were grafted back in. 00:55:46.11\00:55:49.24 Just before, just before the end here... 00:55:51.14\00:55:56.16 And... 00:55:56.36\00:55:57.86 I'm not going to have a chance to read here in 00:56:00.54\00:56:03.06 Acts of the Apostles, 380 and 381. 00:56:03.09\00:56:05.68 I'm going to ask you to go home and read it for yourself. 00:56:05.71\00:56:08.97 We've got to wrap this up. 00:56:09.00\00:56:10.76 But it's the only... 00:56:12.00\00:56:13.70 It tells, at the end that the Jews, a special work 00:56:13.73\00:56:17.65 should be made for them. 00:56:17.68\00:56:19.31 In fact, there's one that you won't have very easy access to. 00:56:19.34\00:56:23.31 In a moment, we'll read it. 00:56:23.34\00:56:26.29 In Romans 11 verses 25 through 27, 00:56:26.32\00:56:29.53 he didn't want them to be ignorant about the 00:56:30.23\00:56:34.71 blindness of the Jews that help to bring in the fullness 00:56:34.74\00:56:41.64 of the Gentiles has come in. 00:56:41.67\00:56:43.62 And then it goes on and says, "So all Israel will be saved." 00:56:43.65\00:56:47.63 All of the believers, Gentiles believers, 00:56:47.98\00:56:51.46 all of the Jewish believer; they're all on the same tree. 00:56:51.66\00:56:54.80 You know, all the branches are put in together. 00:56:54.83\00:56:58.96 This Manuscript, 66, May 25, 1905, 00:56:58.99\00:57:02.60 "The time has come when the Jewish people 00:57:02.63\00:57:05.57 are to be given light." 00:57:05.77\00:57:07.99 And, "The Lord wants us to encourage and sustain men 00:57:08.02\00:57:13.58 who will labor in right lines for this people." 00:57:13.82\00:57:17.50 I have some more. 00:57:19.08\00:57:20.33 In the walls, over the gates; the names will be there. 00:57:20.36\00:57:24.99 It will be the believing Jews and believing Gentiles 00:57:26.28\00:57:29.95 that are going to finish the work in all the world. 00:57:30.16\00:57:33.75 Then Jesus comes. 00:57:33.78\00:57:34.97
