It is my privilege and pleasure to welcome you to the 00:00:21.43\00:00:24.29 Plantation Seventh-day Adventist Church 00:00:24.32\00:00:26.70 here in Plantation, Florida and to night number two 00:00:26.73\00:00:29.84 of our Anchors Of Truth series and Anchors Away, Jim Gilley. 00:00:29.87\00:00:33.78 And the title is, One In The Messiah. 00:00:34.61\00:00:37.10 And we had a very powerful message from the pastor 00:00:37.13\00:00:39.36 of this church on last evening. 00:00:39.39\00:00:40.63 Yes, we did. 00:00:40.66\00:00:41.69 And we've have received messages from as far away 00:00:41.72\00:00:45.07 as Washington state where people said that they were 00:00:45.10\00:00:49.60 blessed by that message last night. 00:00:49.63\00:00:51.91 It was a good message. 00:00:51.95\00:00:52.98 And I think it set a very good foundation for what we're 00:00:53.01\00:00:55.82 trying to accomplish and talk about; the idea that 00:00:55.85\00:00:58.25 we need to be one in Christ. 00:00:58.28\00:01:00.42 In fact, the emblem of our Christianity is unity 00:01:00.80\00:01:03.92 in Christ Jesus. 00:01:03.95\00:01:04.98 That's it, and the title of this series is, One In Our Messiah. 00:01:05.01\00:01:09.11 So many times, I think last night Alex pointed out, 00:01:09.52\00:01:13.96 that he did not realize that Jesus was Jewish 00:01:13.99\00:01:17.38 until he was reading in the New Testament 00:01:17.68\00:01:20.38 the first time he read it. 00:01:20.41\00:01:21.66 And he saw that Jesus was crying over Jerusalem. 00:01:22.31\00:01:26.06 And he thought, what is this Christian doing crying 00:01:26.55\00:01:30.47 over the Jewish people? 00:01:30.50\00:01:32.28 And then he began to realize that the King of kings and 00:01:32.63\00:01:35.38 Lord of lords is Himself a Jew. 00:01:35.41\00:01:38.34 And he sort of threw down a gauntlet, as it were, 00:01:38.37\00:01:41.12 having had and associated with so many Christians friends 00:01:41.15\00:01:43.99 who never really tried to witness to him or to 00:01:44.02\00:01:47.70 talk to him about Christ. 00:01:48.39\00:01:50.25 And it certainly convicted me that we need to do a better job 00:01:50.86\00:01:53.87 sometimes in how we portray Jesus, not only to the 00:01:53.90\00:01:57.02 Jewish community, but to the world in general. 00:01:57.05\00:01:59.17 But then he saved that by telling us that the one who 00:01:59.20\00:02:03.08 led him to Jesus did so through his character. 00:02:03.11\00:02:07.30 And that was a gentleman, his name was Mike Ortiz. 00:02:07.68\00:02:13.71 And he was actually his stepfather. 00:02:13.74\00:02:19.45 And when he saw Christ in him, then he wanted 00:02:19.75\00:02:24.88 to know more about Jesus. 00:02:24.91\00:02:26.29 This idea of Paul; to provoke to jealousy. 00:02:27.16\00:02:30.20 That our lives are to so reflect Christ's life that we make 00:02:30.40\00:02:33.65 others jealous to want to have what we have in Christ Jesus. 00:02:33.68\00:02:35.93 Absolutely. 00:02:35.96\00:02:36.99 Now tonight's message is going to be brought to us 00:02:37.02\00:02:39.50 by Jeff Zeremsky. 00:02:39.53\00:02:41.03 And we saw the title on the intro there, 00:02:41.27\00:02:44.98 How Bad Are The Jews? 00:02:45.37\00:02:47.60 Yes, very provocative title. 00:02:47.63\00:02:49.35 It really is. 00:02:49.38\00:02:50.42 You know, one of the things that has really come to mind 00:02:50.45\00:02:53.77 is that all of the early believers were Jewish. 00:02:53.80\00:02:58.67 And it wasn't until Peter received the dream 00:02:58.70\00:03:02.95 to go and to be ready to witness to the Gentiles 00:03:04.21\00:03:11.34 that it began to open up, and open up slowly. 00:03:11.37\00:03:14.29 So we believe also that it's going to come back; 00:03:14.32\00:03:19.40 Christianity, the Messiah, the message, 00:03:19.95\00:03:23.11 strongly with the Jewish people. 00:03:23.49\00:03:25.09 Yes indeed. 00:03:25.12\00:03:26.15 This is a very exciting time and a very exciting 00:03:26.18\00:03:29.13 and much anticipated Anchors. 00:03:29.16\00:03:30.75 And I'm really anxious to hear tonight's message. 00:03:30.78\00:03:33.43 And, of course, tomorrow night we have Sasha Bolotnikov. 00:03:33.46\00:03:36.23 And on Sabbath, we've got two great speakers again. 00:03:36.26\00:03:38.86 Now Jeff Zeremsky is the head of Beth-El Congregation 00:03:38.89\00:03:44.69 in the New Port Richey area. 00:03:45.43\00:03:48.20 And also the congregation there in St. Petersburg. 00:03:48.23\00:03:52.77 And I've had the great privilege of going to both of those 00:03:53.22\00:03:57.22 congregations and witnessing there. 00:03:57.25\00:04:00.41 And it's just really inspiring to go and to take part 00:04:00.61\00:04:05.41 in that worship. 00:04:05.44\00:04:06.90 And Jeff and his wife have a tremendous ministry. 00:04:07.00\00:04:12.67 And you know, we heard today about how... 00:04:12.70\00:04:14.65 We did an interview today that's going to be shown later on 3ABN. 00:04:15.46\00:04:19.94 And it was an exciting time. 00:04:20.33\00:04:23.95 And one of the things we found out in that interview 00:04:23.98\00:04:26.41 was about Jeff's conversion. 00:04:26.44\00:04:28.11 Yes, yes, yes. 00:04:28.14\00:04:29.17 Juanita Kretschmar instrumental in that. 00:04:29.20\00:04:31.93 And she told a little story about Jeff's mom, 00:04:31.96\00:04:34.28 who is here tonight. 00:04:34.31\00:04:35.41 A really great story and a great history 00:04:36.25\00:04:39.47 of the van ministry in New York and a number of people, Jeff, 00:04:39.87\00:04:42.71 Alan Reinach, others who came to the Lord through that ministry. 00:04:42.74\00:04:45.02 That's right, it's just amazing how God used that ministry. 00:04:45.05\00:04:49.29 How that ministry continues to witness through all of those 00:04:49.32\00:04:54.04 that came to Jesus during that time. 00:04:54.07\00:04:57.14 Well listen, before our message this evening, 00:04:57.34\00:05:00.02 we have some music. 00:05:00.05\00:05:01.08 Would you tell us about that. 00:05:01.11\00:05:02.23 It is coming from the pastor of this church. 00:05:02.26\00:05:05.57 He is a multi-talented individual. 00:05:05.60\00:05:07.66 He preaches, we see him on Back To Our Roots, 00:05:07.69\00:05:11.01 a program on 3ABN. 00:05:11.78\00:05:12.99 But he also, if you watch the program, know 00:05:13.02\00:05:14.87 that he is quite a singer. 00:05:14.90\00:05:16.86 Sort of a velvet voice, and plays the guitar. 00:05:16.89\00:05:19.81 So we're going to hear from him. 00:05:19.84\00:05:21.78 We'll have prayer, then Pastor Alex will bring us 00:05:21.81\00:05:25.25 a message in song. 00:05:25.28\00:05:26.57 Then the next voice we'll hear, of course, will be that of our 00:05:26.60\00:05:28.69 pastor and friend, Jeff Zeremsky. 00:05:28.72\00:05:30.84 Alright, let's bow our heads in prayer. 00:05:30.87\00:05:33.13 Father in heaven, we're just thrilled tonight 00:05:33.16\00:05:36.50 to come You, You the great God of the universe, 00:05:36.53\00:05:40.95 our Creator, and our Savior. 00:05:41.19\00:05:44.74 Because through Jesus Christ, the Bible tells us, 00:05:45.34\00:05:47.95 that the worlds were formed. 00:05:47.98\00:05:49.54 And then Jesus went to the cross. 00:05:50.15\00:05:52.35 Because God so loved the world that He gave 00:05:52.75\00:05:55.97 His only begotten Son. 00:05:56.00\00:05:57.15 Now Father, tonight we pray that You will bless this service. 00:05:57.18\00:06:01.84 And we ask it in Jesus' name, amen. 00:06:02.21\00:06:06.27 Amen. 00:06:08.88\00:06:10.04 I love You, Lord, with all my soul; 00:06:17.08\00:06:24.28 and offer You thanksgiving. 00:06:25.08\00:06:31.30 You have gone before Your own; 00:06:32.39\00:06:40.05 it's through You that I live on. 00:06:40.08\00:06:47.71 Oh, and I will sing Your praises 00:06:47.99\00:06:54.64 once again. 00:06:54.67\00:06:59.54 I love You, Lord, with all my heart; 00:07:03.86\00:07:11.25 I offer You thanksgiving. 00:07:11.62\00:07:18.91 You've inscribed upon my heart; 00:07:18.94\00:07:26.80 remove the stony part. 00:07:27.40\00:07:34.85 Oh Lord, redeem Your people; 00:07:34.88\00:07:41.41 return again. 00:07:41.44\00:07:45.98 And I sing praises to Your name; 00:07:49.39\00:07:58.34 Your glory is my refrain. 00:07:58.72\00:08:05.74 Oh Lord, pour on Your people 00:08:05.78\00:08:12.77 the latter rain. 00:08:12.80\00:08:17.55 And I love You, Lord, with all my might; 00:08:21.61\00:08:30.23 I offer You thanksgiving. 00:08:30.26\00:08:37.72 And I sing praises to Your name; 00:08:37.75\00:08:46.47 Your glory is my refrain. 00:08:46.50\00:08:53.99 Oh, and I will sing Your praises 00:08:54.02\00:09:00.83 once again. 00:09:00.86\00:09:06.11 And I sing praises to Your name; 00:09:08.81\00:09:17.94 Your glory is my refrain. 00:09:18.14\00:09:25.86 Oh Lord, pour on Your people 00:09:25.89\00:09:32.20 the latter rain. 00:09:32.23\00:09:37.44 Oh Lord, pour on Your people 00:09:40.38\00:09:49.73 the latter rain. 00:09:50.21\00:09:58.05 Amen. Thank you, Alex. 00:10:03.68\00:10:04.95 Thank you, Jim and C.A. 00:10:05.36\00:10:07.05 Shalom. 00:10:07.43\00:10:08.46 I'm going to be asking a few questions as we go along. 00:10:09.59\00:10:12.60 And so I'd like your participation. 00:10:12.80\00:10:14.39 It doesn't mean I'm giving you the microphone. 00:10:14.59\00:10:16.35 Just a yes or no. 00:10:16.45\00:10:17.73 There's going to be some true and false, 00:10:17.76\00:10:18.93 multiple choice, a couple of things like that. 00:10:18.96\00:10:20.91 Okay? 00:10:20.94\00:10:21.97 That was the first question. 00:10:22.59\00:10:23.95 Let's see if we can do a little better on this next question. 00:10:24.05\00:10:25.70 Okay, let's do question number two. 00:10:25.73\00:10:27.19 Question number two is, in the history of the Jewish people 00:10:27.35\00:10:30.73 as a whole, how often have they been bad? 00:10:30.76\00:10:34.72 Multiple choice. 00:10:36.22\00:10:37.48 Okay, we'll do this democratically. 00:10:44.15\00:10:45.81 How many would say 50% of the time? 00:10:45.84\00:10:48.29 Is this microphone working? 00:10:49.37\00:10:50.71 Let's try 65% of the time. 00:10:51.39\00:10:53.50 I see one. Okay, two, three. 00:10:54.61\00:10:56.48 Four, okay. 00:10:56.51\00:10:57.54 80% of the time. 00:10:57.57\00:10:58.96 Okay, the microphone is working. 00:10:59.06\00:11:00.32 Okay, alright. 00:11:00.35\00:11:01.43 So that's the rest of the crowd here. 00:11:01.46\00:11:03.62 Okay, very good. 00:11:03.65\00:11:04.87 So 80% of the time. 00:11:04.90\00:11:06.15 Now let's do a run through. 00:11:06.80\00:11:08.05 Well, I want to ask you a couple of other questions. 00:11:08.08\00:11:09.68 First question for this next one. 00:11:10.36\00:11:12.06 This is going to be a true or false. 00:11:12.09\00:11:13.52 Okay, so you've got a 50% chance of getting it right. 00:11:14.22\00:11:17.98 The Jewish people rejected Jesus. 00:11:19.27\00:11:22.40 True or false? 00:11:22.77\00:11:23.83 True? Okay. 00:11:24.82\00:11:26.01 Number two, Jewish people are rich. 00:11:26.04\00:11:30.06 True or false? 00:11:31.53\00:11:32.56 Okay. 00:11:34.11\00:11:35.17 I missed out on that gene. 00:11:37.21\00:11:38.53 So God created me to prove that as false. 00:11:38.56\00:11:41.51 But He created, I guess, like Michael Bloomberg 00:11:41.91\00:11:43.69 to prove that as true. 00:11:43.72\00:11:45.17 Okay, third question. 00:11:45.20\00:11:46.34 The Jewish people are smart. 00:11:46.37\00:11:49.49 Yes? Okay. 00:11:50.59\00:11:51.89 Again, He created me to prove that as false. 00:11:51.99\00:11:54.13 But He created people like Alex Schlussler 00:11:54.36\00:11:56.54 and Albert Einstein to prove that as true, right? 00:11:56.57\00:11:59.45 So we've got sometimes yes, sometimes no. 00:11:59.48\00:12:01.53 Some are rich, some are poor. 00:12:01.56\00:12:03.10 Some are dumb, some are smart. Right? 00:12:03.30\00:12:06.04 Okay, so now we're ready for question number four. 00:12:06.24\00:12:08.46 Which is, the Jews rejected Jesus. 00:12:08.82\00:12:12.31 True or false? 00:12:12.96\00:12:13.99 Now if you notice, that's the same as the first question. 00:12:14.88\00:12:16.87 But it's really just like the other two. 00:12:18.67\00:12:21.08 Some yes, some no. 00:12:21.54\00:12:23.89 Okay? 00:12:24.48\00:12:25.51 So let's do a history and run through the Bible 00:12:25.54\00:12:27.39 in the time of Moses. 00:12:27.42\00:12:29.12 Okay, we're going to look at the Jewish people 00:12:29.27\00:12:30.54 starting at the time of Moses. 00:12:30.57\00:12:31.61 In the time of Moses, of the 39 years in the wilderness 00:12:31.71\00:12:36.39 the Bible records only four times of rebellion. 00:12:36.42\00:12:40.10 All the rest of the times of rebellion, all the other 00:12:40.58\00:12:44.18 times even written in the Bible, in that first year 00:12:44.21\00:12:46.93 out of hundreds of years of slavery, without a Bible, 00:12:47.13\00:12:50.19 without the Scriptures, all those years without a leader, 00:12:50.22\00:12:53.34 and without any instruction. 00:12:53.97\00:12:55.37 And so Moses comes along, God delivers us. 00:12:55.95\00:12:58.04 And the first year is very rough. 00:12:58.07\00:12:59.53 But after that, only four times recorded in the Bible 00:12:59.56\00:13:03.00 of rebellion in 39 years. 00:13:03.20\00:13:05.07 Now I don't think that's too bad, I don't know. 00:13:05.10\00:13:06.95 How have the last 39 years of your life been, 00:13:07.17\00:13:09.53 you know, if God's recording that for us all to see? 00:13:09.56\00:13:12.18 Okay, so we're going to mark that as good years. 00:13:12.77\00:13:15.96 Now how about the book of Joshua? 00:13:15.99\00:13:17.56 Now the Bible specifically tells us in the book of Joshua, 00:13:17.59\00:13:19.86 it tells us in Joshua chapter 24 verse 29 through 31... 00:13:20.27\00:13:26.52 And so if he lived 110 years, it doesn't tell us how long 00:13:36.87\00:13:39.97 he reigned as judge. 00:13:40.00\00:13:42.54 But if he lived 110 years, let's say he was 00:13:42.57\00:13:44.55 the same age as Caleb. 00:13:44.58\00:13:45.61 The Bible tells us that Caleb was 40 years 00:13:45.64\00:13:47.48 when they went and spied out the land. 00:13:47.68\00:13:48.97 And so they wandered for 40 years. 00:13:49.17\00:13:50.78 So let's say he was 80 when he enters into the Promised Land. 00:13:50.98\00:13:53.76 And so let's say he then reigns, if he lives 110 years, 00:13:53.86\00:13:56.22 for 30 years. 00:13:56.25\00:13:57.32 And let's say the elders that outlived him lived another 00:13:57.35\00:13:59.85 10 years and reigned for another 10 years. 00:13:59.88\00:14:01.50 Right? Okay? That's fair numbers, I think. 00:14:01.53\00:14:03.21 So let's say 40 years of good years. 00:14:03.39\00:14:06.02 The Bible specifically said that they served the Lord 00:14:06.05\00:14:08.49 all the days of Joshua and all the days of the elders 00:14:08.52\00:14:12.58 that outlived Joshua. 00:14:12.61\00:14:14.11 So those are pretty good years. 00:14:14.14\00:14:15.69 So now we've got to look at the book of Judges. 00:14:16.14\00:14:18.03 How bad during the times of Judges? 00:14:18.45\00:14:21.00 Right? Now we've got some catching up to do here 00:14:21.44\00:14:23.55 to get to that 80% bad, right? 00:14:23.58\00:14:25.30 Now the book of Judges, that's where it says 00:14:25.69\00:14:27.47 that every man did what was right in his own eyes, 00:14:27.50\00:14:29.57 and this kind of thing. 00:14:29.60\00:14:30.64 And so let's take a look at what it says. 00:14:30.94\00:14:32.69 Let's go to chapter 3 verse 8. 00:14:32.72\00:14:35.17 And it says, "The children of Israel..." 00:14:35.45\00:14:37.39 Now what more, 40 years or 8 years? 00:14:50.51\00:14:53.70 40, I'll help you with the tough ones, okay? 00:14:54.37\00:14:56.53 So 40 is longer than 8, right? 00:14:56.56\00:14:59.21 So we have a short period of time of serving this, whatever, 00:14:59.41\00:15:01.78 bad years, and then we have rest for 40 years. 00:15:01.81\00:15:06.20 Okay, and then verse 12 it says, "And the children of Israel 00:15:06.89\00:15:10.45 did evil again in the sight of the Lord," for 18 years. 00:15:10.48\00:15:14.18 What's longer, 80 years or 18 years? 00:15:21.16\00:15:24.49 80 years. A lot longer, right? 00:15:25.02\00:15:27.43 So we've got 40 good years, 80 good years. 00:15:27.46\00:15:30.12 And only 8 bad years, and only 18 bad years. 00:15:30.32\00:15:34.41 This is in the book of Judges. 00:15:34.44\00:15:36.03 Okay then, let's see, verse 15, "And the children of Israel 00:15:38.76\00:15:42.15 cried to the Lord, and the Lord..." 00:15:42.18\00:15:43.47 Okay, read that. 00:15:43.50\00:15:44.53 Chapter 4 verse 1, "And the children of Israel did evil 00:15:44.99\00:15:48.05 again in the sight of the Lord," for 20 years. 00:15:48.08\00:15:51.07 And then Deborah rises up, and the land has rest 40 years. 00:15:51.17\00:15:55.24 Seeing a lot of 40 in the good years. 00:15:55.27\00:15:57.10 "The children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord," 00:15:57.65\00:15:59.39 chapter 6 verse 1, and served Midian 7 years. 00:15:59.42\00:16:03.40 But then Gideon comes along, in chapter 8 verse 34. 00:16:04.10\00:16:07.06 And the land has quietness for 40 years. 00:16:07.09\00:16:12.31 So the bad years are all short, the good years are all long. 00:16:12.79\00:16:18.81 Then in chapter 10 verse 2, it says, Tola, the son of Puah, 00:16:19.31\00:16:24.48 the son of Dodo, he judged Israel 23 years and died. 00:16:24.51\00:16:31.22 And that's all it says about him. 00:16:31.62\00:16:32.75 It doesn't say if the land had quietness, 00:16:32.78\00:16:34.45 it doesn't say if they served the Lord, 00:16:34.48\00:16:35.72 it doesn't say if they didn't serve the Lord. 00:16:35.75\00:16:37.36 Just that Tola, the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, 00:16:37.56\00:16:41.98 he judged Israel 23 years and he died. 00:16:42.01\00:16:44.07 So we're going to mark that one as neutral. 00:16:45.38\00:16:47.34 Okay? 00:16:47.37\00:16:48.40 Not good, not bad. We don't know. 00:16:48.47\00:16:50.01 I mean, I think if it was bad the Bible would have told us. 00:16:50.54\00:16:52.78 But it doesn't say either one, so we're just 00:16:52.81\00:16:54.11 going to play it safe. 00:16:54.14\00:16:55.17 We'll mark that one as neutral. 00:16:55.20\00:16:56.58 Okay, so if you're keeping track here, 00:16:56.61\00:16:57.73 mark that one as neutral years. 00:16:57.76\00:17:00.56 Now could you imagine serving a nation for 23 years. 00:17:00.59\00:17:05.22 You give your heart and your soul into the work for 23 years. 00:17:05.61\00:17:08.92 And the only thing that's recorded about you 00:17:09.12\00:17:11.33 is that you're the grandson of Dodo. 00:17:11.76\00:17:13.73 I know, but that's what it says. 00:17:15.50\00:17:16.53 So that's what it... Okay. 00:17:16.56\00:17:17.59 Now the book of Judges continues on that way 00:17:17.69\00:17:19.75 for out the rest with the bad years being very short 00:17:20.52\00:17:23.83 and the good years being very long. 00:17:24.17\00:17:26.34 And so the total when we add in the judges, Eli, and Samuel... 00:17:26.37\00:17:29.64 I know they weren't the greatest parents, 00:17:29.67\00:17:30.70 but they were good judges in serving the Lord. 00:17:30.73\00:17:33.87 So the bad years in Judges, and in Samuel with Eli, 00:17:33.90\00:17:38.47 111 bad years. 00:17:38.79\00:17:41.39 328 good years. 00:17:42.10\00:17:46.00 Which is more, 328 or 111? 00:17:46.20\00:17:49.43 Almost three times the amount, three times as long. 00:17:51.01\00:17:54.46 Right? And the neutral, about 70 years. 00:17:54.68\00:17:57.35 70 years on the neutral. 00:17:57.38\00:17:58.80 That's about 500 years of the time of the judges. 00:17:58.83\00:18:01.80 That's about the same amount of time of the time of the kings. 00:18:02.15\00:18:05.64 We kind of have... 00:18:05.74\00:18:06.77 Because there's only one book, you know. 00:18:06.80\00:18:07.87 And a little bit in 1 Samuel. 00:18:07.90\00:18:10.63 So we kind of think, like well, you know, 00:18:10.70\00:18:12.21 we just fly through the time of judges pretty quickly 00:18:12.41\00:18:14.20 and then we're just asking for a king, 00:18:14.23\00:18:16.17 you know, soon after the exodus. 00:18:16.20\00:18:17.75 But no, it's 500 years. 00:18:17.78\00:18:19.80 Now that's twice as long as the United States has been around. 00:18:21.66\00:18:24.60 And most of those years were good years or neutral years. 00:18:26.00\00:18:29.27 Only about a hundred out of those close to 500, 00:18:30.21\00:18:32.32 or over 500 years, were bad in the time of Judges. 00:18:32.35\00:18:36.72 Okay, so let's look at the kings. 00:18:37.53\00:18:38.69 Okay, we've got Saul. 00:18:38.72\00:18:39.85 Saul reigns 39 years. 00:18:39.88\00:18:41.43 I think we'll mark him as neutral. 00:18:41.46\00:18:43.03 You can mark him however you want. 00:18:43.06\00:18:44.35 But I think neutral will be safe. 00:18:44.55\00:18:45.70 David reigns 40 years. 00:18:45.73\00:18:47.25 The Bible says, a man after God's own heart. 00:18:47.45\00:18:49.37 Solomon reigns 40 years. 00:18:49.53\00:18:51.19 And we'll play it safe and mark it neutral. 00:18:51.40\00:18:52.93 He had a good start, he had a good end. 00:18:52.96\00:18:54.44 He had some trouble in the middle. 00:18:54.47\00:18:55.63 So we'll just play it safe and we'll mark that neutral. 00:18:55.84\00:18:58.15 Okay? 00:18:58.42\00:18:59.45 And so, now from here on, now we're just going to 00:18:59.83\00:19:02.34 follow after Solomon. 00:19:02.37\00:19:03.58 The nation splits, right? 00:19:03.68\00:19:05.69 And you've got the ten northern tribes 00:19:05.72\00:19:06.94 and the two southern tribes. 00:19:06.97\00:19:08.16 Now we're following how bad are the Jewish people, right? 00:19:08.26\00:19:10.34 So the Jewish people come out of Judah. 00:19:10.37\00:19:11.87 That's where the term comes from. 00:19:11.90\00:19:13.10 So we're just going to follow the southern tribes, 00:19:13.13\00:19:14.92 the Judah tribe, the nation of Judah, 00:19:14.95\00:19:17.68 from here on out. 00:19:17.88\00:19:18.91 The northern never had good kings anyway, 00:19:19.16\00:19:20.67 and eventually get lost; the lost tribes of Israel. 00:19:20.70\00:19:23.67 So let's follow, so going to 1 Kings chapter 14, 00:19:24.77\00:19:27.88 Rehoboam reigned 17 years and did evil 00:19:28.25\00:19:31.68 in the sight of the Lord. 00:19:31.71\00:19:33.66 And so now it gets very clear, it tells us very clearly in 00:19:33.69\00:19:36.05 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles, 00:19:36.38\00:19:39.15 that they did evil or they did what was right. 00:19:39.18\00:19:41.60 So we've got 17 bad years. 00:19:41.70\00:19:43.63 And then in chapter 15 verse 2, Rehoboam's son reigns 3 years. 00:19:44.22\00:19:51.93 And he did evil in the sight of the Lord. 00:19:51.96\00:19:55.06 And then verses 10 and 11, it says Asa reigns over Judah 00:19:55.43\00:19:59.32 41 years doing that which was right in the sight of the Lord. 00:19:59.35\00:20:05.94 So we have a combined 20 bad years between those two kings 00:20:06.59\00:20:09.99 after Solomon. 00:20:10.02\00:20:11.05 And then 41 good years. 00:20:11.08\00:20:14.29 And then after him, in chapter 22 verse 42, 00:20:15.90\00:20:19.64 Jehoshaphat reigned 25 years doing that which was right 00:20:19.67\00:20:23.71 in the sight of the Lord. 00:20:23.74\00:20:25.36 66 good years between Asa and Jehoshaphat. 00:20:25.84\00:20:29.24 And Asa and Jehoshaphat are reigning in the south 00:20:29.27\00:20:32.26 at the same time that Ahab and Jezebel are in the north. 00:20:32.29\00:20:37.22 And we've got 66 good solid years of doing what was right 00:20:37.51\00:20:41.40 in the sight of the Lord. 00:20:41.43\00:20:42.89 After only just 20 bad years. 00:20:43.76\00:20:45.40 2 Kings chapter 8 verse 17, Jehoram reigns 8 years. 00:20:47.27\00:20:51.63 He did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord. 00:20:51.66\00:20:53.57 His son reigns one year doing evil in the sight of the Lord. 00:20:53.88\00:20:57.08 And then Athaliah, the mother, she kills all her children 00:20:58.01\00:21:01.63 and grandchildren. 00:21:01.66\00:21:02.77 She's the daughter of Ahab. 00:21:02.80\00:21:04.60 But she's reigning over the south in Judah. 00:21:04.63\00:21:06.63 And she reigns only 6 years. 00:21:06.73\00:21:09.55 She kills everyone except one. 00:21:10.32\00:21:11.58 One gets escaped, you know, and he becomes the 00:21:11.61\00:21:13.57 boy king at 8 years old. 00:21:13.60\00:21:15.24 And so between those three it's 15 years, 15 bad years. 00:21:15.27\00:21:19.64 8, 1 year, and just 6 years. 00:21:19.93\00:21:21.90 She's bad and God says, "That's it. 00:21:21.93\00:21:23.38 You get 6 years and you're out of here." 00:21:23.41\00:21:24.90 You know, and they had a rebellion against her. 00:21:25.84\00:21:28.33 And so then that young boy, that 8 year old king, 00:21:30.52\00:21:33.29 in 2 Kings chapter 8 verse 12, Jehoash, reigns 40 years 00:21:34.09\00:21:40.50 and he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord. 00:21:40.78\00:21:44.94 So 66 good years, 15 bad years, then followed by 40 good years. 00:21:45.90\00:21:54.82 And then his son reigns 29 years doing that which was right 00:21:58.05\00:22:01.87 in the sight of the Lord. 00:22:01.90\00:22:02.93 So, good years. 00:22:02.96\00:22:04.14 And then Uzziah reigns 52, chapter 15 verse 1. 00:22:05.52\00:22:12.02 Uzziah reigns 52 years doing that which was right 00:22:12.50\00:22:18.48 in the sight of the Lord. 00:22:18.51\00:22:19.98 52 years. 00:22:20.08\00:22:21.83 And he doesn't even get a whole chapter in the Bible. 00:22:22.60\00:22:25.68 He only gets a few verses... 00:22:26.84\00:22:28.62 ...in 2 Kings and a few verses in Chronicles. 00:22:30.24\00:22:32.86 But not even a whole chapter. 00:22:32.89\00:22:34.30 How many sermons in your life have you ever heard 00:22:34.47\00:22:36.87 about Uzziah? 00:22:37.22\00:22:39.45 Probably none. 00:22:41.31\00:22:42.35 How many sermons have you heard about Ahab and Jezebel? 00:22:42.89\00:22:46.02 Too many, right? A lot. 00:22:47.76\00:22:49.76 Now why is that? 00:22:49.79\00:22:50.93 Why then are the bad kings getting all the press, 00:22:50.96\00:22:54.97 and here these good kings get very little? 00:22:55.58\00:22:59.42 And it's same like the newspapers today, is all it is. 00:23:00.06\00:23:02.90 Bad news sells. 00:23:03.20\00:23:04.55 And so the bad news gets written down. 00:23:05.08\00:23:06.94 And the good news... 00:23:07.22\00:23:08.25 "Hey, you're a good kid," you know, like the kid in school. 00:23:08.28\00:23:09.72 He's good, alright. Just sit down here. 00:23:09.75\00:23:10.96 You're fine. Good. You know. 00:23:10.99\00:23:12.75 Forget his name, you know. 00:23:13.17\00:23:14.20 But the bad kid, he gets all the attention, right? 00:23:14.23\00:23:16.75 And so in the Bible, the bad kings are getting 00:23:17.07\00:23:18.64 all the chapters, all the attention. 00:23:18.67\00:23:20.91 And the good years are very short. 00:23:21.98\00:23:25.17 You know, why is that? 00:23:26.05\00:23:27.08 Why does God spend so much time sending Elijah and Elisha 00:23:27.11\00:23:31.85 to Ahab and Jezebel? 00:23:31.88\00:23:33.27 And all these miracles, and all this counsel, and all these 00:23:33.30\00:23:36.57 prophecies concerning them? 00:23:36.60\00:23:37.69 Why is God doing that? 00:23:37.72\00:23:38.75 Why is He spending so much time on the wicked kings 00:23:38.78\00:23:41.98 and on nothing on the good kings? 00:23:42.66\00:23:45.18 Because God loved Ahab and Jezebel. 00:23:47.32\00:23:51.72 God loved the good kings. 00:23:52.47\00:23:54.67 He leaves the 99 sheep that are in the fold 00:23:54.70\00:23:58.82 and He goes looking and spending all His time 00:23:58.85\00:24:01.78 for the lost sheep. 00:24:01.81\00:24:03.34 And you get all these miracles and all these prophecies 00:24:03.65\00:24:06.61 and all these things being told, and encouragements to 00:24:06.64\00:24:10.04 the evil kings so that they'll come to the Lord. 00:24:10.07\00:24:13.53 And a good king, 52 years, less than a chapter. 00:24:13.83\00:24:16.76 And then his son reigns 16 years doing that which was right 00:24:18.70\00:24:23.69 in the sight of the Lord. 00:24:23.72\00:24:24.89 Those four kings in a row is close to 140 good years. 00:24:24.92\00:24:30.10 That's a massive amount of time of good years. 00:24:31.37\00:24:33.82 Almost 140 in a row. 00:24:33.85\00:24:36.68 And they only get four chapters in the Bible. 00:24:38.58\00:24:42.03 Not even a full four chapters in the Bible. 00:24:42.66\00:24:45.84 Or at least in 2 Kings. 00:24:46.17\00:24:47.33 Again, they're mentioned in Chronicles too, parallel. 00:24:47.36\00:24:49.71 And then chapter 16, still in 2 Kings, chapter 16 00:24:52.02\00:24:57.01 verses 1 and 2, Ahaz comes along. 00:24:57.04\00:24:59.31 He reigns 16 years and he's doing evil 00:24:59.34\00:25:02.05 in the sight of the Lord. 00:25:02.08\00:25:03.11 So close to 140 years, and then just 16 bad years. 00:25:03.14\00:25:07.37 Now if I told you about a stock, the stock market, 00:25:07.99\00:25:11.41 a stock that went down ten times this year, 00:25:11.44\00:25:14.99 would you think that's a good stock or a bad stock? 00:25:15.61\00:25:17.25 A bad stock, huh? Right? 00:25:18.42\00:25:19.57 Now what if I also told you that same stock 00:25:19.67\00:25:22.32 went up eleven times this year? 00:25:22.35\00:25:26.12 It's a good stock or bad stock? 00:25:26.15\00:25:27.63 And what if I told you that for every point it went down 00:25:28.12\00:25:30.96 when it was going down, it went up four when it was going up? 00:25:30.99\00:25:34.64 Is it a bad stock or a good stock? 00:25:35.15\00:25:37.20 That's a good stock, okay? 00:25:37.83\00:25:39.28 That is a good stock. 00:25:40.12\00:25:41.73 And that's what we're seeing in the Bible. 00:25:41.76\00:25:43.67 So it seems like, oh they're always down, always down. 00:25:43.70\00:25:45.68 But they're really not. 00:25:45.71\00:25:46.84 When they're down, they're down just a little bit 00:25:47.23\00:25:48.99 for a short period of time. 00:25:49.02\00:25:50.06 And then they're back up, and they're back up 00:25:50.09\00:25:51.42 for a long period of time. 00:25:51.45\00:25:53.04 There's just nothing mentioned in the Bible about it. 00:25:53.54\00:25:55.46 That's all, because it's all good. 00:25:55.49\00:25:57.08 You know, think about your conversation. 00:25:58.17\00:25:59.38 The ones that talk, they talk about what's bad. 00:25:59.41\00:26:00.98 You know, "How's things going?" "Oh good. You know, fine." 00:26:01.41\00:26:03.49 Not much of a story. 00:26:04.23\00:26:05.26 But if something bad is going on, you've got a story to tell. 00:26:05.70\00:26:08.51 And that's what the Bible is doing. 00:26:09.48\00:26:10.69 Then Hezekiah comes along, chapter 18 verse 1. 00:26:11.36\00:26:13.71 Hezekiah, and he reigns 29 years doing 00:26:13.74\00:26:15.80 what was right in the sight of the Lord. 00:26:15.83\00:26:16.87 So we're back on the right track again already. 00:26:16.90\00:26:18.82 16 bad after close to 140, and now we're back to good years. 00:26:18.85\00:26:22.69 29 good years with Hezekiah. 00:26:22.72\00:26:25.67 Then chapter 21, Manasseh reigned 55 years 00:26:26.09\00:26:30.50 and he did evil in the sight of the Lord. 00:26:30.53\00:26:33.60 Evil in the sight of the Lord 55 years. 00:26:34.28\00:26:36.64 Now the bad kings, there's no bad king, other than 00:26:37.11\00:26:41.17 Manasseh here, who reigns in Judah who reigns 00:26:41.20\00:26:45.44 more than 16 or 17 years. 00:26:45.54\00:26:48.44 I think it's 16 years. 00:26:48.47\00:26:49.75 There's no good king who reigns less than 16 or 17 years. 00:26:50.54\00:26:55.21 I'm getting that mixed up, one of them is 16 00:26:55.26\00:26:56.46 and one of them is 17. 00:26:56.49\00:26:57.56 So there's a big difference. 00:26:58.39\00:26:59.42 All of the bad ones, below 16 or 17. 00:26:59.45\00:27:01.80 All the good ones, above 16 or 17. 00:27:01.83\00:27:05.17 Except Manasseh. 00:27:05.65\00:27:07.06 Why does Manasseh get 55? 00:27:07.59\00:27:09.59 More than any other king. 00:27:09.62\00:27:10.65 More than any evil king, more than any other king. 00:27:10.68\00:27:13.20 Why does God give him 55 years? 00:27:13.23\00:27:16.68 Because God loved him. 00:27:19.95\00:27:23.19 God loved Manasseh and He wasn't going to let him die. 00:27:24.56\00:27:27.58 Because Manasseh comes to the Lord at the end of his life. 00:27:28.19\00:27:31.44 And so in those 55 years he was wicked, he was horrible. 00:27:31.85\00:27:35.75 One of the worst kings, if not the worst king. 00:27:35.78\00:27:37.88 And yet God knew he hadn't fully turned 00:27:39.82\00:27:42.20 his heart over to Satan. 00:27:42.23\00:27:43.76 There was still some hope there. 00:27:43.79\00:27:45.77 And God knew that, and God kept working with him, 00:27:45.80\00:27:48.03 and kept working with him, and kept working with him, 00:27:48.06\00:27:50.39 for 55 years until he comes to the Lord. 00:27:50.42\00:27:53.53 Otherwise, the evil kings, they don't last long. 00:27:53.94\00:27:55.77 But he gets to reign wickedness because he comes to the Lord. 00:27:57.47\00:28:00.60 And he really shouldn't even have been around because 00:28:01.03\00:28:02.82 he comes along during the years that Hezekiah 00:28:02.85\00:28:04.97 prayed for extended life, and God gave it to him. 00:28:05.00\00:28:07.42 I'm going to have a talk with Hezekiah about that 00:28:07.45\00:28:08.89 when we get to heaven. 00:28:08.92\00:28:10.12 But you've got to be careful what you pray for. 00:28:10.15\00:28:11.62 Sometimes they might end up with a Manasseh. 00:28:11.65\00:28:13.24 Well that's where Manasseh comes along. 00:28:15.01\00:28:16.21 And then after him, he ends up with a good son; Josiah. 00:28:16.24\00:28:19.64 And he reigns 31 years doing what was right 00:28:19.67\00:28:23.65 in the sight of the Lord. 00:28:23.68\00:28:25.12 So we have again, Hezekiah good, Manasseh bad, 00:28:25.82\00:28:28.74 and then Josiah good. 00:28:28.77\00:28:30.85 And then chapter 23 verse 36, his son comes along and 00:28:31.95\00:28:37.18 he reigns 11 years doing evil in the sight of the Lord. 00:28:37.21\00:28:39.94 His son comes along, Zedekiah, reigning 11 years doing evil 00:28:39.97\00:28:43.83 in the sight of the Lord. 00:28:43.86\00:28:45.02 So we have 22 evil years in a row there 00:28:45.41\00:28:48.64 coming right after Josiah of 31 good years. 00:28:48.99\00:28:54.09 And then Babylon comes in. 00:28:54.31\00:28:55.83 So in that last about 50 years, 30 of them were good. 00:28:56.87\00:29:02.39 And only about 20 of them, 22, were bad. 00:29:04.45\00:29:07.45 Kind of got this impression, though, 00:29:08.65\00:29:10.87 that, "Oh, it was just bad, bad, bad, bad, bad." 00:29:11.87\00:29:13.69 So God allows Babylon to come in. 00:29:13.72\00:29:15.56 It was just the last two kings that were bad, 00:29:17.13\00:29:18.98 according to the Bible, that did evil in the sight of the Lord. 00:29:19.38\00:29:21.89 Now the good kings, I understand the good kings weren't perfect. 00:29:22.19\00:29:24.35 There's plenty in the Bible written about what they did bad. 00:29:24.38\00:29:27.03 And even in that chapter about Uzziah, in that less than 00:29:27.24\00:29:31.25 chapter he gets, what it does say about him 00:29:31.28\00:29:33.15 is what he did wrong. 00:29:33.18\00:29:34.54 And so even the good kings, yeah they made some mistakes. 00:29:37.00\00:29:39.01 And so yes, when the good kings were reigning, 00:29:39.04\00:29:40.41 there were people doing mistakes. 00:29:40.44\00:29:42.10 I understand that. 00:29:42.13\00:29:43.18 But also when there were bad kings, there were good stuff 00:29:43.21\00:29:45.41 going on as well. 00:29:45.44\00:29:46.81 So just going by what the Bible said; 00:29:48.52\00:29:49.67 they did evil in the sight of the Lord, 00:29:49.70\00:29:50.73 they did what was right in the sight of the Lord. 00:29:50.76\00:29:51.79 So what are our totals during the time of the kings? 00:29:51.82\00:29:53.82 Our totals of the bad years are 126 bad years, 00:29:53.85\00:29:59.39 303 good years, and 79 neutral years. 00:29:59.83\00:30:04.41 It almost parallels Judges. 00:30:04.44\00:30:06.28 Almost the same amount of years and almost the same percentage 00:30:07.28\00:30:09.63 of bad years and good years. 00:30:09.66\00:30:11.98 And again, the good way outweighing the bad 00:30:12.01\00:30:14.95 throughout Kings. 00:30:15.67\00:30:17.37 And then after that, we have the time of Babylon. 00:30:20.85\00:30:22.76 We have Daniel, Mishael, Hananiah, Azariah. 00:30:22.79\00:30:25.96 We have Ester, we have Mordecai. 00:30:25.99\00:30:27.68 We have Nehemiah, we have Ezra. 00:30:27.71\00:30:29.47 And so we have all these good times. 00:30:30.12\00:30:31.43 And then we have the 400 years of the time between 00:30:31.63\00:30:35.28 the Testaments where there's no prophets. 00:30:35.31\00:30:37.13 There's no books being written in those 400 years. 00:30:37.16\00:30:39.55 Why isn't there any books written in those 400 years? 00:30:39.58\00:30:42.30 Why weren't there any prophets during those 400 years? 00:30:42.79\00:30:45.62 Because there was nothing bad going on. 00:30:49.87\00:30:52.14 Okay, we've seen that over and over again. 00:30:53.44\00:30:55.08 The Bible only sends prophets and miracles when there's 00:30:55.11\00:30:58.10 bad stuff going on to get their attention 00:30:58.13\00:31:00.57 and bring them to repentance. 00:31:00.60\00:31:01.88 But if there's nothing bad going on, 00:31:01.91\00:31:03.24 He doesn't have to say anything. 00:31:03.27\00:31:04.76 He doesn't have to show up. 00:31:05.13\00:31:06.16 I mean, of course He's there. 00:31:06.19\00:31:07.22 But I mean, He doesn't have to send a prophet 00:31:07.25\00:31:08.55 to go and rebuke them, because that was the job of the prophet. 00:31:09.05\00:31:11.08 The job of the prophet was to rebuke. 00:31:11.11\00:31:12.93 To convict of sin, to tell about sin, 00:31:12.96\00:31:14.73 and to lead people to repentance. 00:31:14.76\00:31:16.72 During that 400 years, that's the time of the Maccabees. 00:31:17.10\00:31:19.63 The Hanukkah story is there. 00:31:19.66\00:31:21.35 And they're serving the Lord. 00:31:21.66\00:31:22.77 They fight against the Greek army. 00:31:22.80\00:31:25.39 The most powerful nation in the world at that time. 00:31:25.42\00:31:27.38 And they win. 00:31:27.41\00:31:28.68 And they carve out a little notch of land where 00:31:28.71\00:31:30.60 they're able to have autonomy. 00:31:30.63\00:31:32.48 Set up their own coinage, and their own leadership. 00:31:32.90\00:31:35.12 And they're reigning, and they did it so they 00:31:35.29\00:31:37.00 could serve the Lord. 00:31:37.03\00:31:38.43 That was their sole reason for rebellion, 00:31:39.43\00:31:41.12 was because they did not have religious freedom anymore. 00:31:41.15\00:31:43.31 And they fought so they could have it. 00:31:43.34\00:31:44.42 And they risked their lives and gave their lives 00:31:44.45\00:31:46.52 so they could serve the Lord and worship in the temple, 00:31:46.55\00:31:49.40 and liberate the temple, and rededicate the temple. 00:31:49.43\00:31:52.01 So God said, "They're doing just fine. 00:31:52.96\00:31:54.55 I'm just going to let them roll." 00:31:54.89\00:31:56.08 So how about during the time of Messiah? 00:31:58.73\00:32:00.56 About the time of Messiah, how did the Jewish people do then? 00:32:00.59\00:32:04.45 Well in Acts chapter 2 verse 41, it says 3000 people 00:32:06.30\00:32:09.54 came to the Lord. 00:32:09.57\00:32:10.62 And then in chapter 4 verse 4, it says 5000 00:32:11.05\00:32:13.91 plus women and children. 00:32:13.94\00:32:15.52 Alright, so Jules Isaac estimates that within 00:32:16.24\00:32:18.48 three and a half years about 25,000 Jewish people 00:32:18.51\00:32:21.29 in and around Jerusalem believed. 00:32:21.32\00:32:23.48 That's a large number. 00:32:24.77\00:32:26.67 25,000 in three and a half years. 00:32:30.66\00:32:34.42 Does that sound like a people who rejected the Messiah? 00:32:35.38\00:32:37.67 25,000 Jewish people accepting the Messiah 00:32:39.29\00:32:41.68 in three and a half years? 00:32:41.71\00:32:42.99 Could you imagine this congregation... 00:32:44.04\00:32:45.34 Let's say we want to do an outreach. 00:32:45.37\00:32:47.50 We're going to plant another congregation nearby here. 00:32:47.53\00:32:49.65 Let's say, whatever, Ft. Lauderdale, right? 00:32:49.85\00:32:52.71 Let's say there's a refugee group there. 00:32:52.74\00:32:57.37 And let's say they come from a country that doesn't 00:32:57.64\00:32:59.26 have the Bible, doesn't know the Lord at all. 00:32:59.29\00:33:01.26 And let's say there's a 100,000 people. 00:33:01.36\00:33:03.18 That's what some people estimate was in Jerusalem 00:33:03.21\00:33:05.25 in that area at that time. 00:33:05.28\00:33:06.64 Let's say 200,000 people. 00:33:06.67\00:33:08.27 And we go over there for three and a half years. 00:33:08.30\00:33:09.98 And let's say we take twelve of us and we go over there. 00:33:10.01\00:33:12.41 Twelve or thirteen, whatever, and we go over there. 00:33:12.94\00:33:14.77 And in that time, a couple of us get killed. 00:33:14.80\00:33:17.23 And they try and make laws outlawing us, 00:33:17.50\00:33:20.72 and we get persecuted there. 00:33:20.75\00:33:22.47 But in that time, we baptize 25,000 people. 00:33:24.03\00:33:29.26 I mean, would that be good? 00:33:30.74\00:33:31.95 Has this church baptized 25,000 people in the 00:33:32.41\00:33:35.02 last three and a half years? 00:33:35.05\00:33:36.32 The whole entire Florida Conference 00:33:37.62\00:33:39.34 doesn't even come close to baptizing 25,000 people 00:33:39.91\00:33:43.72 in three and a half years. 00:33:43.82\00:33:45.55 If it did, every other Conference would be 00:33:45.65\00:33:47.83 coming down here to find out what we're doing. 00:33:47.86\00:33:49.67 This is a whole Conference. 00:33:50.11\00:33:51.63 With a whole lot more than 100,000 or 00:33:52.02\00:33:53.96 200,000 people to work with. 00:33:53.99\00:33:56.05 So that's 25% of the people. 00:33:56.84\00:33:59.17 There's very few countries, if any, that have 25% of the 00:34:00.27\00:34:02.72 people attending services regularly on a weekly basis. 00:34:02.75\00:34:06.30 Especially during persecution. 00:34:07.57\00:34:09.19 How can we say they rejected the Messiah? 00:34:10.56\00:34:13.14 25,000 of them. 00:34:14.19\00:34:16.68 Alright, because you've got 5000 and 3000. 00:34:17.49\00:34:18.97 That's 8000 right there, plus women and children. 00:34:19.00\00:34:21.12 Alright, so it's easy to just triple that with the women 00:34:21.45\00:34:23.90 and then one child each. 00:34:23.93\00:34:25.51 You've got 24,000 right there. 00:34:26.06\00:34:28.00 Plus those that were added daily. 00:34:28.03\00:34:29.53 Acts chapter 6 verse 7... 00:34:33.66\00:34:35.44 A great company, it increased and multiplied greatly. 00:34:48.94\00:34:53.08 In Jerusalem. 00:34:53.61\00:34:55.20 So we can't even just say, "Well it was just the leaders." 00:34:56.01\00:34:58.41 Because the leaders were the Levites. 00:34:58.44\00:34:59.57 It just said the priests, a great company of the priests. 00:34:59.60\00:35:02.79 A great company of the priests came. 00:35:02.99\00:35:07.75 And we have Joseph of Arimathea, 00:35:07.78\00:35:09.96 and we have Nicodemus of the Sanhedrin, 00:35:09.99\00:35:12.06 coming and following the Lord. 00:35:12.49\00:35:14.57 So you can't even say the leadership. 00:35:17.35\00:35:18.61 Because some of the leadership, a great company of the 00:35:18.64\00:35:21.35 leadership, came and joined as well. 00:35:21.38\00:35:24.27 And became believers as well. 00:35:25.20\00:35:27.44 And then, you know, some people say, 00:35:32.77\00:35:34.05 and I've preached in a place and right afterwards 00:35:34.08\00:35:36.99 a person came up to me and said, "Yeah, but you know, Paul says, 00:35:37.02\00:35:38.91 'I wash my hands of you Jews and now I'm going to the Gentiles.' 00:35:38.94\00:35:42.26 And he's the apostles to the Gentiles." 00:35:42.29\00:35:44.16 Well that verse, that quote, is in chapter 13. 00:35:45.20\00:35:48.64 You go just a few verses right after that to chapter 14 verse 1 00:35:50.95\00:35:54.95 and it says Paul goes to Iconium. 00:35:55.22\00:35:57.70 Chapter 14 verse 1, Iconium. 00:35:59.69\00:36:01.53 And a great multitude of Jews came to the faith. 00:36:01.56\00:36:05.26 So in chapter 13, he worked in that city. 00:36:06.63\00:36:09.92 And he continued working in that city until everyone had an 00:36:10.23\00:36:12.84 opportunity to hear the message. 00:36:12.87\00:36:14.38 And those that heard the message and accepted the message, 00:36:14.41\00:36:16.22 and the Bible tells us, in that city a great number 00:36:16.25\00:36:18.04 came there too of Jewish people and accepted there also. 00:36:18.07\00:36:21.00 And then when those who accepted did accept, 00:36:22.08\00:36:23.68 and those who didn't accept didn't accept, 00:36:23.71\00:36:24.92 he said, "Okay, now I'm done. 00:36:24.95\00:36:25.98 I go to the Jew first and now I go to the Gentile." 00:36:26.01\00:36:27.66 So he's done going to the Jews, "Now I'm going to the Gentile." 00:36:27.69\00:36:29.61 That's what he says in Romans chapter 1 verse 20. 00:36:29.64\00:36:31.75 So to the Jew first, and then to the Greek. 00:36:32.37\00:36:33.74 And so that's what he did; he said, "Okay, I'm done. 00:36:34.22\00:36:35.34 I gave you an opportunity, I've been here a few years 00:36:35.37\00:36:36.79 and I preached to you. 00:36:36.82\00:36:37.85 And now I'm going to the Greeks." 00:36:37.88\00:36:39.45 And then he finished there, and then he goes on 00:36:39.99\00:36:41.65 to the next town, and he does the same thing over again. 00:36:41.68\00:36:43.93 To the Jew first and then to the Greek. 00:36:43.96\00:36:45.55 It wasn't, "I've washed my hands forever of you guys." 00:36:46.00\00:36:49.02 Just for that town, because he finished. 00:36:49.62\00:36:51.47 And then he goes on. 00:36:52.50\00:36:53.53 He actually does that twice. 00:36:53.56\00:36:54.64 It's actually quoted twice in the book of Acts. 00:36:54.68\00:36:56.30 And also if you just read a few more verses, 00:36:56.33\00:36:57.63 and it goes and it says a leader of the synagogue 00:36:57.66\00:37:00.05 comes to the Lord. 00:37:00.08\00:37:01.23 So Jewish people continuing to come to the Lord 00:37:03.04\00:37:05.66 through that time. 00:37:06.05\00:37:07.08 And then in Acts 17, it says that they turned 00:37:09.38\00:37:12.20 the world upside down. 00:37:12.23\00:37:13.40 Which world got turned upside down, 00:37:13.43\00:37:14.76 the Jewish or the Roman world? 00:37:14.79\00:37:16.28 It was the Jews that were saying it. 00:37:17.24\00:37:18.63 What Roman city had 3000 baptized in a day? 00:37:18.92\00:37:23.16 What Roman city had 5000, plus women and children, baptized? 00:37:24.61\00:37:28.53 The Bible doesn't mention any of those. 00:37:29.72\00:37:31.39 Why not? 00:37:31.42\00:37:32.45 Certainly, if there was a Roman city that 5000 Gentiles 00:37:32.78\00:37:36.00 were baptized in a day, or 3000 plus women and children, 00:37:36.03\00:37:37.96 it would have mentioned it, right? 00:37:37.99\00:37:39.29 What Jewish city had the whole city come out to a theatre 00:37:41.13\00:37:44.00 and pack it in there, and cry out, "Diana, goddess Diana. 00:37:44.03\00:37:48.77 Great is Diana, great is Diana, great is Diana." 00:37:48.80\00:37:50.78 It wasn't a Jewish city, it was a Greek city. 00:37:51.36\00:37:53.49 Or it was the Greeks that were doing that. 00:37:54.38\00:37:55.70 So yes, the Greeks were coming to the Lord. 00:37:56.64\00:37:58.08 Yes, the Gentiles were coming to the Lord. 00:37:58.11\00:37:59.59 But the Jews were coming to the Lord also. 00:37:59.62\00:38:01.61 All throughout. 00:38:01.64\00:38:02.87 Jews were accepting it, and Jews were rejecting it. 00:38:03.53\00:38:05.61 Gentiles were accepting it, and Gentiles were rejecting it. 00:38:05.98\00:38:08.44 We get this concept that Acts is all about the Gentiles. 00:38:09.90\00:38:12.67 And it's not. 00:38:12.70\00:38:13.73 Again, I believe it. 00:38:13.81\00:38:14.84 What, do you think it was 25% of the Roman world 00:38:14.91\00:38:17.24 that came to the Lord? 00:38:18.07\00:38:19.66 I'd be very surprised. 00:38:19.69\00:38:20.72 Especially not at the time. 00:38:20.75\00:38:22.11 And later on, again, the Caesar got a little upset with him. 00:38:22.55\00:38:26.00 Now what about the Bereans? You familiar with the Bereans? 00:38:27.16\00:38:28.72 What are the Bereans known for? 00:38:28.75\00:38:30.04 Being more righteous than the Thessalonicans 00:38:32.60\00:38:34.58 because they studied the Word to see for themselves. 00:38:34.61\00:38:36.89 Well who were the Bereans? 00:38:37.16\00:38:38.44 It tells us right there, Acts chapter 17 verse 10. 00:38:38.96\00:38:40.87 So the Bereans were Jewish. 00:38:46.55\00:38:48.08 That it talks about that were more noble. 00:38:48.77\00:38:50.54 And not a few Greeks, right? 00:38:50.82\00:38:53.09 And so many of the Greeks there too. 00:38:55.44\00:38:57.32 Now where were those Greeks? 00:38:57.65\00:38:59.07 In the synagogue. 00:39:01.93\00:39:03.06 In which synagogue? 00:39:03.09\00:39:04.41 The synagogue of the Jews. 00:39:05.68\00:39:07.36 What were the Greeks doing in the synagogue of the Jews? 00:39:07.39\00:39:09.94 Worshiping the Lord God of the Jews. 00:39:12.75\00:39:15.72 Now how on earth did they get there? 00:39:16.18\00:39:17.75 And we get this concept, "Oh the Jews kept it for themselves. 00:39:18.00\00:39:20.07 They weren't going and witnessing." 00:39:20.10\00:39:21.31 Well if they weren't going and witnessing, what were all those 00:39:21.34\00:39:23.10 Gentiles doing in their synagogue? 00:39:23.13\00:39:25.02 And that's in a lot of cities. 00:39:26.32\00:39:27.42 I only put it in that verse, but it's over and over 00:39:27.45\00:39:29.32 again throughout Acts. 00:39:29.35\00:39:30.38 He goes to the synagogue, many of the Jews come, 00:39:30.41\00:39:31.96 and many of the Greeks that were in the synagogue. 00:39:31.99\00:39:34.06 So they were converts to Judaism. 00:39:34.86\00:39:37.19 And they accepted as well. 00:39:37.49\00:39:38.85 Actually, the city of Antioch was Jewish. 00:39:41.81\00:39:46.77 That was a Jewish congregation initially. 00:39:46.90\00:39:48.87 And where they're called Christians, they're called 00:39:49.34\00:39:50.75 Christians in Antioch, at the time they're called 00:39:50.78\00:39:52.53 Christians in Antioch it was only Jews. 00:39:52.56\00:39:54.88 Paul had not yet began to bring the message to the Gentiles yet. 00:39:55.17\00:39:58.48 It was only Jews, and Gentiles who had been 00:39:59.19\00:40:01.23 converted to Judaism, in Antioch. 00:40:01.26\00:40:04.26 The same thing in Ephesus. 00:40:04.29\00:40:05.68 Ephesus was a Jewish congregation... 00:40:06.12\00:40:08.12 ...initially. 00:40:09.12\00:40:10.27 And Corinth too. 00:40:11.15\00:40:12.35 Corinth, it's in the book of Acts, he went to Corinth. 00:40:12.38\00:40:14.50 The Jews came, he went to the synagogue of the Jews. 00:40:14.73\00:40:16.15 And many Jews believed. 00:40:16.18\00:40:17.67 And many did not. 00:40:18.04\00:40:19.51 And many Gentiles believed, and many did not. 00:40:19.89\00:40:21.74 But they were all Jewish congregations... 00:40:22.43\00:40:24.37 ...initially. 00:40:25.11\00:40:26.14 And they took the message to the Gentiles. 00:40:26.17\00:40:27.99 And the Gentiles, you know, they filled up more. 00:40:28.02\00:40:30.24 They now numbered, eventually. 00:40:30.27\00:40:31.54 Acts chapter 21, it says myriads of Jews came to the Lord. 00:40:32.30\00:40:36.97 That word, "myriads," is ten thousand. 00:40:37.00\00:40:40.19 So myriads is tens of thousands coming to the Lord. 00:40:40.22\00:40:45.29 How can we say that they rejected the Messiah? 00:40:45.65\00:40:49.12 Or that God replaced them with, "the church." 00:40:50.11\00:40:54.18 With the concept of the "Gentile" church? 00:40:54.59\00:40:56.73 He didn't replace Israel with the church. 00:40:57.20\00:41:01.68 He replaced the system, the national system, 00:41:01.95\00:41:05.26 of Jews and the temple, and replaced it with Jews. 00:41:07.01\00:41:11.04 The twelve disciples were Jews. 00:41:11.07\00:41:12.10 Paul was Jewish, the other ones were Jewish. 00:41:12.13\00:41:13.65 Replaced them with Jews. 00:41:13.68\00:41:15.24 And instead of bringing people, like the Queen of Sheba, 00:41:15.69\00:41:17.87 to the temple, they were now going out to the world. 00:41:17.90\00:41:23.43 So there was a shift in missiology. 00:41:23.46\00:41:26.67 But it still continued, God using the Jews 00:41:27.70\00:41:30.32 to bring it to the world. 00:41:30.35\00:41:31.80 Not a replacing of it. 00:41:32.71\00:41:35.08 So what about in the last 2000 years? 00:41:36.61\00:41:38.05 How have we done during the last 2000 years? 00:41:38.08\00:41:39.82 In the last 2000 years of earth's history, 00:41:39.85\00:41:41.58 we have two groups; we have the Gentiles, 00:41:42.29\00:41:45.50 or the Christians, right, that are bowing down 00:41:45.53\00:41:49.32 to statues, praying to saints, reading catechisms, 00:41:49.35\00:41:53.21 breaking the Sabbath, and eating pork. 00:41:53.24\00:41:55.10 And then we have the Jews, non-believing Jews, 00:41:56.58\00:41:59.51 worshiping God, praying to God, reading the Bible, 00:42:00.31\00:42:02.22 keeping the Sabbath, and eating biblically. 00:42:02.25\00:42:04.22 Where would you go to worship? 00:42:05.41\00:42:06.65 Those are the only two choices you had. 00:42:06.68\00:42:08.54 Which is basically the only two choices they had. 00:42:08.57\00:42:10.99 Now I know there were the Waldensians and others 00:42:11.09\00:42:13.15 in the mountains, and stuff like that. 00:42:13.18\00:42:14.28 And there was a remnant there. Yeah, I get that. 00:42:14.31\00:42:16.05 And praise God for them. 00:42:16.08\00:42:17.22 You know, if we're going to say, "Well look at the 00:42:17.85\00:42:19.01 remnant up there," then we've also got to remember 00:42:19.04\00:42:20.70 there was a remnant even in Ahab's time and Jezebel's time. 00:42:20.73\00:42:23.50 7000 who didn't bow the knee to Baal. 00:42:23.53\00:42:25.64 That works both ways. 00:42:26.02\00:42:27.05 Again, there's always been believing Gentiles 00:42:27.08\00:42:29.01 from the beginning of time; Ruth and Gibeonites, and others. 00:42:29.04\00:42:33.85 So there's always been Gentiles and Jews. 00:42:33.88\00:42:35.65 But then again, there's always been Jews and Gentiles as well 00:42:36.25\00:42:39.15 throughout the history of time. 00:42:39.82\00:42:41.87 And so during the dark ages, a thousand years ago, 00:42:42.10\00:42:44.36 and if the Christian church for 1260 years, the dark ages, 00:42:44.39\00:42:49.43 did evil in the sight of the Lord for 2000 years, 00:42:50.04\00:42:54.61 and the Jewish time, that time from Moses to Babylon, 00:42:54.81\00:42:57.63 was 240 bad years out of 1083 good years, 00:42:57.66\00:43:03.21 if God rejected the Jewish people, as is commonly taught, 00:43:03.24\00:43:06.63 for the 200 and something years out of over a thousand, 00:43:06.66\00:43:10.10 then what should He have done to Christianity 00:43:11.86\00:43:13.87 for over a thousand years of bad years out of two thousand? 00:43:14.53\00:43:18.47 Yeah, if we're going to use that reasoning, 00:43:19.09\00:43:20.12 "that's why He rejected," that's what I've heard; 00:43:20.15\00:43:21.52 He rejected the Jewish people because they were so bad. 00:43:21.55\00:43:23.91 But as we're seeing, that's not the case. 00:43:26.12\00:43:28.15 This affects our perception of history. 00:43:31.65\00:43:33.92 How we look at things. 00:43:34.82\00:43:35.85 And God even prophesied that time period, the dark ages, 00:43:35.88\00:43:38.63 where the Jewish people would still be worshiping, 00:43:38.88\00:43:40.65 even risking their lives, when the Bible is outlawed. 00:43:40.68\00:43:43.66 Who outlawed the Bible during the dark ages? 00:43:43.69\00:43:45.84 So called Christians. 00:43:47.36\00:43:48.76 But they're reading the Bible, they're reading the Torah, 00:43:49.93\00:43:51.48 worshiping God, keeping the Sabbath. 00:43:51.51\00:43:53.34 The Bible prophesied this in Hosea chapter 3 verse 4. 00:43:55.13\00:43:58.17 "For the children of Israel shall abide many days 00:43:58.62\00:44:01.84 without a king and without a prince..." 00:44:02.16\00:44:05.59 So they don't have a sacrifice. 00:44:14.83\00:44:17.54 So they don't have the sanctuary service. 00:44:18.21\00:44:20.90 They don't have a king or a prince; 00:44:21.01\00:44:23.00 neither earthly leadership or a Messiah Prince. 00:44:23.03\00:44:27.08 But nor do they have an image. 00:44:27.24\00:44:28.87 They're not worshiping an image either 00:44:29.52\00:44:32.12 during the dark ages. 00:44:32.15\00:44:33.54 And then it says, then afterwards they would 00:44:33.84\00:44:37.16 seek the Lord their God. 00:44:37.19\00:44:38.73 Verse 5, "And afterwards, the children of Israel 00:44:39.81\00:44:42.77 shall return and seek the Lord their God and David their king, 00:44:42.80\00:44:47.37 and shall fear the Lord and His goodness in the latter days." 00:44:47.62\00:44:53.28 That's talking about now. 00:44:53.94\00:44:55.02 So in the last days... so he prophesied. 00:44:55.30\00:44:56.92 So there's going to be this time period where 00:44:56.95\00:44:58.22 they're not going to have a king, they're not going to 00:44:58.25\00:44:59.30 have a Messiah, they're not going to have an image. 00:44:59.33\00:45:00.95 And then they're going to, afterwards, in the latter days, 00:45:02.32\00:45:05.17 they're going to seek God and seek David their king. 00:45:05.20\00:45:09.87 Who is David their king? 00:45:09.90\00:45:11.18 The Messiah. 00:45:12.45\00:45:13.68 They're going to seek the Messiah. 00:45:14.04\00:45:15.07 After that time period. 00:45:15.10\00:45:17.12 Well we're after that time period. 00:45:17.15\00:45:18.95 Now is the time for them to hear the gospel. 00:45:18.98\00:45:22.59 In Romans chapter 11 verse 25, it a says similar thing. 00:45:24.96\00:45:27.82 It says... 00:45:28.68\00:45:29.93 So it's a mystery, we don't want to be ignorant. 00:45:41.28\00:45:42.99 God doesn't want us to be ignorant of this mystery. 00:45:53.30\00:45:56.70 It's hard to understand. 00:45:56.73\00:45:57.76 And that we shouldn't be wise in our own opinion. 00:45:57.93\00:46:01.64 In other words, haughty, lifted up, that we're okay, 00:46:01.84\00:46:03.72 "now we're the ones." 00:46:03.75\00:46:04.78 That, blindness in part... 00:46:07.80\00:46:10.01 Not a full blindness. 00:46:10.04\00:46:11.67 Keeping the Sabbath, keeping the kosher, 00:46:11.70\00:46:13.35 keeping the Bible, reading the Bible, keeping the Scriptures. 00:46:13.38\00:46:15.82 Worshiping the Lord God, Creator of the heavens and the earth. 00:46:16.27\00:46:18.85 But in part, blindness. 00:46:19.70\00:46:21.96 Until... 00:46:23.46\00:46:24.75 That means, that in part blindness is going to 00:46:24.78\00:46:26.73 end eventually. 00:46:26.76\00:46:28.51 Until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. 00:46:30.11\00:46:34.69 Very similar to what Yeshua said. 00:46:34.72\00:46:36.04 Jesus said, "You'll see Me no more until... 00:46:36.07\00:46:39.86 ...you say, 'Blessed are you who comes in the name of the Lord.'" 00:46:40.56\00:46:42.58 And He also says, Jerusalem will be tramped under foot until... 00:46:42.61\00:46:46.06 ...the fullness of the Gentiles comes in. 00:46:46.42\00:46:48.25 And so God promising that it's going to come back 00:46:49.07\00:46:51.47 to the Jewish people. 00:46:51.50\00:46:52.69 We have in part blindness. 00:46:54.32\00:46:56.89 Then the Gentiles, the message will go to the Gentiles. 00:46:57.87\00:46:59.72 And when the fullness of the Gentiles comes in, 00:46:59.75\00:47:01.84 when all the Gentiles, when the gospel has gone 00:47:01.87\00:47:03.22 to all the world, then it comes back to the Jewish people. 00:47:03.25\00:47:06.11 And they will seek David their Messiah. 00:47:06.53\00:47:08.93 But if we've been telling them, "Oh, the Jews rejected Jesus," 00:47:09.72\00:47:11.88 "The Jews rejected Jesus," 00:47:11.91\00:47:12.94 "The Jews rejected..." "The Jews rejected..." 00:47:12.97\00:47:14.48 They're not going to accept it. 00:47:15.49\00:47:16.64 And why, during the dark ages, did they have that 00:47:17.18\00:47:20.27 partial blindness? 00:47:20.30\00:47:21.49 During the time of Messiah and Paul, they didn't 00:47:21.59\00:47:23.31 have this partial blindness. 00:47:23.34\00:47:24.46 Why during the time of the dark ages? 00:47:24.49\00:47:26.69 Well, what was being presented to them? 00:47:27.24\00:47:28.82 "Oh, here's your Messiah. 00:47:29.32\00:47:30.56 He says to bow down to idols, break the Sabbath, eat pork." 00:47:30.59\00:47:34.28 They said, "That's not the Messiah. 00:47:34.31\00:47:36.05 Would God condemn them for rejecting 00:47:37.72\00:47:39.24 that picture of the Messiah? 00:47:39.27\00:47:40.71 I hope not. 00:47:41.54\00:47:42.64 They rejected a false Messiah waiting for the true Messiah 00:47:43.24\00:47:48.14 to be revealed to them. 00:47:48.17\00:47:49.62 And when we reveal Him to them, they will accept it. 00:47:52.28\00:47:56.03 That's what the Bible said, because "until..." 00:47:57.30\00:47:59.11 And then it comes back to them. 00:47:59.14\00:48:00.56 Only in part. 00:48:01.21\00:48:02.24 And this is in the chapter where Paul talks about the olive tree. 00:48:02.27\00:48:04.98 Isn't that the chapter where he says the Jewish branches 00:48:05.25\00:48:07.35 are broken off? 00:48:07.38\00:48:08.66 No, that's the chapter where it says some of the branches 00:48:09.87\00:48:15.18 were broken off. 00:48:15.21\00:48:16.46 And if only some of the branches were broken off, 00:48:16.49\00:48:18.43 what does that mean about the rest of the Jewish branches? 00:48:18.46\00:48:21.30 They stayed on. 00:48:22.04\00:48:23.18 And then it says, and then you being a wild olive branch 00:48:23.68\00:48:25.56 were grafted into them. 00:48:25.59\00:48:27.39 And then He's able to graft in back those that were broken off. 00:48:27.88\00:48:32.22 So again, we see the Jewish stay in, the Gentiles are 00:48:32.25\00:48:34.61 grafted in with and together with, into the olive tree. 00:48:34.64\00:48:38.55 And then the Jewish branches brought back in again. 00:48:39.11\00:48:41.10 Just like Hosea, just like what Paul said. 00:48:41.30\00:48:43.51 That it would go to the Jews and then would go to the Gentiles, 00:48:44.62\00:48:46.54 and then we come back to the Jews. 00:48:46.57\00:48:48.11 Because God is not going to come back 00:48:48.73\00:48:50.87 until His olive tree is full. 00:48:51.44\00:48:53.73 You see, within the next verses after that, it says, 00:48:54.21\00:48:56.07 and then all Israel shall be saved. 00:48:56.10\00:48:59.42 And so He can't come back until we accept that. 00:49:00.34\00:49:04.20 The Jewish people were not rejected, 00:49:05.41\00:49:07.09 were not rejecting God, 00:49:07.76\00:49:09.69 have a right conception of history, 00:49:10.56\00:49:12.63 a right conception of biblical history. 00:49:12.66\00:49:14.46 And then we bring it to the Gentiles and bring the 00:49:15.69\00:49:17.21 Gentiles in; the fullness of the Gentiles ends. 00:49:17.24\00:49:18.80 And then bring it back to the Jewish people. 00:49:19.00\00:49:20.24 But we've got to bring the right message, the right Messiah, 00:49:20.27\00:49:22.47 with the right history for them to see it and accept it. 00:49:22.99\00:49:26.56 And then Romans chapter 11, so has God 00:49:29.05\00:49:31.51 rejected the Jewish people? 00:49:31.54\00:49:32.57 Romans chapter 11 verse 1, Paul says, "I say then, 00:49:32.60\00:49:35.49 has God cast away His people? 00:49:35.52\00:49:38.20 God forbid." 00:49:39.07\00:49:40.63 "God has not cast away His people which He foreknew." 00:49:41.53\00:49:45.86 That's what the Bible says. 00:49:46.62\00:49:47.98 Then there's a quote from a book, Great Controversy. 00:49:49.91\00:49:52.04 And I'll need that on the screen, because I 00:49:52.07\00:49:53.46 don't have it written out here. 00:49:53.49\00:49:54.70 But from the book, Great Controversy. 00:49:54.73\00:49:56.32 Very interesting quote. 00:49:56.88\00:49:59.31 That's a misinterpreting of the Bible... 00:50:31.72\00:50:34.47 ...that the greater majority of the Christian church is doing, 00:50:35.54\00:50:40.46 according to that text. 00:50:40.49\00:50:43.73 And so for example, if we read from Zechariah chapter 8, 00:50:45.27\00:50:49.67 it says that... 00:50:50.91\00:50:52.54 And I'll need that on the screen too. 00:50:52.58\00:50:54.00 Zechariah chapter 8. 00:50:54.03\00:50:55.76 "...in Jerusalem..." 00:51:03.29\00:51:04.38 Or in the church, if we're misinterpreting the Scriptures. 00:51:04.41\00:51:06.67 ...will grab the hem of a Gentile man... 00:51:13.93\00:51:16.41 And that is the popular teaching. 00:51:23.26\00:51:24.93 That is how the majority of teachings are misinterpreting 00:51:24.96\00:51:27.49 the Scriptures. 00:51:27.52\00:51:28.79 That when it says, "Jew," you say, "Gentile." 00:51:28.82\00:51:30.64 When it says, "Jerusalem," you say, "church." 00:51:30.67\00:51:33.19 And Jerusalem has been replaced with the church. 00:51:33.48\00:51:35.90 Not according, again, to that book. 00:51:36.34\00:51:37.50 It said that's a misinterpreting of Scripture. 00:51:37.53\00:51:39.50 So let's read this text again. 00:51:39.53\00:51:40.56 Let's go back a slide and read it the way it should be 00:51:40.59\00:51:43.30 as it is in the Bible. 00:51:43.33\00:51:44.39 Who is that Jewish man? 00:52:10.70\00:52:12.07 They're grabbing hold of the hem of his garment. 00:52:13.47\00:52:16.41 That's the Messiah, that's Yeshua the Messiah. 00:52:16.83\00:52:19.11 That the Gentiles are going to grab hold. 00:52:19.74\00:52:20.97 Ten men of all the nations grab hold. 00:52:21.00\00:52:23.68 He's got to be wearing a tallit then 00:52:24.66\00:52:25.80 for them to be able to do that. 00:52:25.83\00:52:26.86 He's got to be a Jewish Jesus for them to be able to 00:52:26.89\00:52:29.24 grab hold to the hem of His garment. 00:52:29.27\00:52:31.33 Again, when we change how He looks and how He is, 00:52:33.72\00:52:36.77 then we're not able to recognize Him. 00:52:36.80\00:52:38.16 We change the Bible. 00:52:38.65\00:52:39.88 Are you familiar with Galileo? 00:52:40.68\00:52:42.24 Galileo, you know, a nice Jewish boy. 00:52:42.92\00:52:44.85 He was a scientist. 00:52:45.42\00:52:47.37 And in his day, it was taught that if you had two objects 00:52:47.40\00:52:51.93 of different size and differing weight, 00:52:52.23\00:52:55.50 and you dropped them at the same time, 00:52:56.19\00:52:58.47 that the heavier one would fall first. 00:53:00.05\00:53:02.58 It's heavier, bigger, whatever, it would go down faster. 00:53:02.78\00:53:05.77 That was the common teaching in his day. 00:53:06.11\00:53:08.14 Galileo comes along and he says, "No, no, no, no. 00:53:08.41\00:53:11.47 If you have two different things weighing different amounts, 00:53:11.67\00:53:14.84 the heavier one and the lighter one will fall 00:53:14.94\00:53:17.05 at the same exact rate." 00:53:17.08\00:53:18.76 They didn't believe him. 00:53:19.22\00:53:20.26 So he took them to a pizza parlor and went up to the top 00:53:20.46\00:53:24.15 with a little stone and a big refrigerator. 00:53:24.45\00:53:27.36 I don't know if it was a refrigerator or what, 00:53:27.70\00:53:28.95 but a big object and a small object. 00:53:28.98\00:53:30.69 And that's what caused it to lean, right? 00:53:31.11\00:53:32.66 So you've got the Leaning Tower of Pisa. 00:53:32.69\00:53:33.76 And he goes up there with these two objects. 00:53:33.79\00:53:36.49 And he's got some of these other professors up there with him, 00:53:36.87\00:53:39.42 and he's got other professors down there watching along. 00:53:39.45\00:53:42.21 And he drops them at the same time... 00:53:42.24\00:53:44.64 ...and they land at exactly the same time. 00:53:46.51\00:53:50.39 These professors, they go, "Wow. 00:53:51.22\00:53:53.06 I can't believe that. 00:53:53.52\00:53:54.92 That's amazing." 00:53:54.95\00:53:56.35 And then they went back to their classes 00:53:57.33\00:53:59.65 and they taught the people that if you have two 00:54:00.60\00:54:02.92 different objects of differing weights, 00:54:02.95\00:54:04.98 the heavier one will land first. 00:54:05.01\00:54:08.98 They saw it with their own eyes, they were convinced, 00:54:11.73\00:54:13.87 they believed. 00:54:13.90\00:54:15.09 But then they went back into their old habit. 00:54:15.12\00:54:18.20 And then we've seen very plainly here today 00:54:18.98\00:54:20.86 that in the history of the Jewish people... 00:54:21.28\00:54:22.31 Actually we said, what did you say it was? 00:54:22.34\00:54:23.45 80% of the time? 00:54:23.48\00:54:24.51 That was the majority what you said? 00:54:24.54\00:54:25.57 It comes out to 22% of the time that the Jewish people were bad 00:54:26.50\00:54:31.94 from Moses to Babylon. 00:54:32.14\00:54:35.70 Then again, we looked at the New Testament 00:54:37.13\00:54:38.53 and they weren't bad then either. 00:54:38.56\00:54:40.22 And then when we looked at the dark ages 00:54:40.74\00:54:42.13 in the last 2000 years of history. 00:54:42.16\00:54:43.97 So we've got this conception 00:54:46.18\00:54:47.66 that they were bad, bad, bad, bad. 00:54:47.69\00:54:49.22 And we read the Bible that way. 00:54:49.25\00:54:50.40 And part of it is because the way the Bible, again, 00:54:50.43\00:54:51.83 the bad news gets all the press. 00:54:51.86\00:54:53.68 And it says the Jews did this, and the Jews persecuted this. 00:54:53.71\00:54:56.83 But it was infighting. 00:54:56.86\00:54:58.79 Christianity was another sect of Judaism. 00:54:59.48\00:55:03.32 So the persecuting by Paul and of Paul 00:55:04.06\00:55:06.08 was all just Jews persecuting Jews. 00:55:06.11\00:55:08.23 It was an infight. 00:55:08.26\00:55:09.34 So it was the unbelieving Jews attacking the believing Jews. 00:55:11.32\00:55:13.89 That's what was going on there. 00:55:13.97\00:55:15.00 But when we read it, sometimes it just looks that way. 00:55:15.03\00:55:17.32 So our whole mindset has been, our whole perception 00:55:18.57\00:55:21.42 has been wrong on this. 00:55:21.45\00:55:22.58 And if we've missed that... 00:55:22.61\00:55:23.80 And we've looked at texts from the Torah, 00:55:23.83\00:55:26.93 we've looked at Judges, we've looked at 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 00:55:26.96\00:55:30.16 we've looked at the book of Acts, we've looked at 00:55:30.19\00:55:31.81 Zechariah, we've looked at Romans. 00:55:31.84\00:55:33.33 We've looked at text from throughout the whole Bible. 00:55:33.36\00:55:35.62 And if we've missed this that's scattered all throughout 00:55:36.68\00:55:40.34 the Bible, what else have we been missing? 00:55:40.37\00:55:42.14 What else have we been getting wrong? 00:55:43.08\00:55:44.57 And this affects how we do missiology. 00:55:45.30\00:55:47.45 This affects how we do outreach. 00:55:47.48\00:55:49.06 This affects how we interact with Jewish people, 00:55:49.34\00:55:51.56 or other people who love the Jewish people. 00:55:51.59\00:55:53.52 And we're not going to be able to reach them if we continue. 00:55:54.40\00:55:56.00 There's no other people group that we talk about every 00:55:56.03\00:55:57.90 single week at services other than the Jewish people. 00:55:57.93\00:56:00.54 Right? 00:56:01.01\00:56:02.04 They're in the Bible, and so we're reading the Bible; 00:56:02.38\00:56:03.55 that's what we're talking about. 00:56:03.58\00:56:04.61 And so we've been talking about them in this wrong way 00:56:04.64\00:56:06.38 for all this time... 00:56:06.41\00:56:07.51 ...that it affects where we put our money into evangelism. 00:56:09.59\00:56:12.92 Are we doing like what Paul said; to the Jew first? 00:56:12.95\00:56:15.24 Okay, the fullness of the Gentiles. 00:56:15.27\00:56:16.72 And then when they come in; then again to be able to 00:56:16.75\00:56:18.47 close off the work, it's got to come back to the Jewish people. 00:56:18.50\00:56:20.68 But if we've been thinking, "Well God rejected them 00:56:21.29\00:56:22.99 and replaced them with us," well then we're not going to 00:56:23.02\00:56:24.84 have any interest in going back there and reaching them. 00:56:24.87\00:56:27.23 And then we'll never go home. 00:56:27.26\00:56:28.35 Because it's got to come back. 00:56:28.65\00:56:29.68 That's what Jesus said and Paul said. 00:56:29.71\00:56:31.48 Then afterward, they would seek David their king. 00:56:33.15\00:56:35.36 That the blindness would be until that time. 00:56:38.49\00:56:40.33 And so we need to reach out to them. 00:56:40.87\00:56:42.39 And so we've had, not just a paradigm shift here. 00:56:43.60\00:56:46.35 Bigger than that. This is a paradollar shift. 00:56:46.38\00:56:48.45 I mean, it's bigger than a "dime". 00:56:48.48\00:56:49.51 Maybe several dollars of shifting going on here, right? 00:56:49.54\00:56:52.65 I mean, the total shift from 80% bad to really just 20% bad. 00:56:52.68\00:56:56.69 Total opposite. 00:56:56.72\00:56:58.10 And the only way that's going to change so that we don't go back, 00:56:58.85\00:57:00.90 like Galileo's professor's there, is to allow God to 00:57:01.10\00:57:04.77 change our heart. 00:57:04.80\00:57:05.99 See, confession with our mouth takes a moment. 00:57:06.31\00:57:08.69 Bu repentance is a lifetime. 00:57:09.00\00:57:10.91 And then lived out in the life. 00:57:12.18\00:57:13.89 And that takes conversion. 00:57:13.93\00:57:14.96 We need to ask God to change us and to convert us. 00:57:14.99\00:57:17.36 So let's pray and ask God to do that right now. 00:57:17.39\00:57:19.31 Our Lord, our God, King of the universe, 00:57:20.43\00:57:21.76 as we've this here today in Your Bible, in Your Scriptures, 00:57:21.79\00:57:24.70 change our hearts and our minds to that we present 00:57:24.93\00:57:28.25 Your Word correctly. 00:57:28.28\00:57:29.75
