is suffering from cold.

the Loveland, Colorado area

from, the weather is much, much

him and we were talking that

it is a blessing to be

Well we've got just a
little ice and snow and not that

horrendous weather that they're
having in Colorado at this time.

number of really wonderful

question that was asked of me.

We were having a
convention at Eden Valley

and my vice-president,
which happens to be a lady,

was working in the
kitchen in our cafeteria;

just to feed all
these numbers of people.

She loves to cook
and that's where she is

when she has a
chance to be there.

In any case, I was walking
through the cafeteria kitchen

and she stopped me.

And she says, "I
have a question for you."

She says, "Isn't it
true that Ellen White says

that the third angel's
message is righteousness

by faith in verity?"

I said, "Yes, that's
true. That's what she says."

"Well," she says, "if
that is so, why is it that

when, as a people, we preach
on the third angel's message,

we talk about the mark of
the beast and we talk about

the wrath of God?

Where is the
righteousness by faith in that?"

Had you been there,
what would you have said?

Now obviously, I didn't have
much time to think about it.

But it seems to me that the Lord
inspired my mind, I don't know.

thing that I said was true.

I said, "Righteousness by faith
is not explicit in the text.

Now friends, I still
believe that is true.

In the beast, you will not
find righteousness by faith.

As a matter of fact, you're
not going to find any kind of

righteousness in
the beast at all.

Oh, you'll find religion.

You'll find religion of
works, you'll find religion

that is enforced, you'll
find religion by legislation,

religion by
bribery and flattery.

Or else, if all else
fails then you might even find

religion by
torture with the beast.

But all said and done, you will
not find righteousness there.

In essence, the beast doesn't
care a hoot about righteousness.

All that he cares
about, of course, is control.

Theologically, you can't
find righteousness by faith

with the beast.

Because the "faith"
in righteousness by faith

implies that we
are self-distrusting.

And therefore if we
don't trust ourselves

we need to put our faith in
something outside of ourselves.

Which happens to be God.

But with the beast, all
that's expected of us is that

we will put faith in
the traditions of men,

in church decrees, in
ecclesiastical pronouncements.

And friends, there is no
righteousness there either,

because it is all self works.

It is all human religion.

But the first thing I understood

Well in this case,
they didn't know if I had

And as a matter of fact, I

their shoes, you understand.

would preach the three angels

messages differently.

I was trying to work
righteousness by faith

into the three angels messages.

By the way, you don't have
to work righteousness by faith

to do a week of prayer for us.

he's the best researcher

what He was
getting Himself into.

But He didn't know.

See, He was a man.

into position where He knew

everything that God knows.

Jesus was dying right there?

nearly every bone in his body.

Anyway, I've seen him at

you know, sadness in his eyes

It just reaches right

That's what Jesus was doing.

God sends two
angels to Lot and He says,

"Come out of Sodom
because I'm going to destroy it

with fire and brimstone."

And Lot is wavering.

He doesn't know
quite what to do.

Everything he
owns is right there.

And so finally, and I'm

the angel grabs Lot's hand and a
daughter's hand, and walks out.

out, one of the angels says,

had put all her affections

She was leaving children behind.

She was leaving
grandchildren behind.

She was leaving her home

her hobbies
behind, her friends behind.

Everything that meant anything
to her, she was leaving behind.

we going to get the power

asked to organize all of that.
