at the 11th chapter of Daniel.

Now of all the chapters
in the Bible on prophecy,

probably the 11th chapter of
Daniel is the most difficult.

And it's not because
it's... How should I put it?

It's not because it's
so hard to understand,
00:10:07.73\00:10:11.78
it's the fact that it
covers so much ground.
00:10:12.05\00:10:15.01
It covers a
tremendous amount of ground
00:10:15.57\00:10:17.33
and it goes into great detail.
00:10:17.36\00:10:19.96
And people get lost in
the minutia of all the detail
00:10:19.99\00:10:25.54
and all, and they have a
hard time understanding it.
00:10:25.57\00:10:28.39
So I'm going to suggest,
if you have pencil and paper,
00:10:28.70\00:10:31.99
that you write down some
simple things here to start with
00:10:32.20\00:10:35.21
that I hope will help
you in the understanding of
00:10:35.52\00:10:38.89
the 11th chapter of Daniel.
00:10:38.92\00:10:40.54
We must not depart
from what Daniel has taught.
00:10:41.42\00:10:45.55
And in Daniel the 2nd
chapter, the 7th chapter,
00:10:45.93\00:10:51.15
and the 8th chapter,
in all those chapters
00:10:51.45\00:10:54.99
he's lined up the nations.
00:10:55.02\00:10:57.36
And he's talked about...
00:10:57.39\00:10:58.61
So when we come to the
11th chapter of Daniel,

don't expect Daniel to depart
and go off some other way.

He's going to stick with exactly
what he showed and revealed

in those three other chapters.
00:11:16.81\00:11:19.07
So as we go
through it, watch for that

and it'll follow that same
sequence all the way through.

So when we take a
look at it and we come to

Daniel the 11th
chapter, we find that it doesn't
00:11:28.37\00:11:31.60
start with Babylon.
00:11:31.63\00:11:33.16
It starts with Medo-Persia.
00:11:34.31\00:11:36.14
And the reason it
starts with Medo-Persia
00:11:36.77\00:11:39.32
is because Babylon
has already fallen.
00:11:39.35\00:11:42.22
And at this time the
angel Gabriel, who is showing
00:11:42.89\00:11:46.75
Daniel this and is talking about
it, he starts with Medo-Persia
00:11:46.78\00:11:50.63
because Babylon is
no longer in existence.
00:11:50.66\00:11:53.24
It's already been overthrown.
00:11:53.27\00:11:55.20
So he begins that
chapter with Medo-Persia.
00:11:55.23\00:11:59.75
And so if you want
to just write this down,

the first part,
Medo-Persia, is verses 1 and 2.

That's what verses 1
and 2 are talking about.

It's talking about
the kings of Medo-Persia.

Medo-Persia was
a wonderful kingdom

and did a lot
for the cause of God.

And you remember in that
realm or reign of Medo-Persia,

there are some very,
very great people in there.
00:12:26.45\00:12:29.25
You remember, this
is the time of Mordecai.

This is the time of Ester,
this is the time of Zerubbabel.
00:12:32.38\00:12:35.30
This is the time of Nehemiah.
00:12:35.33\00:12:37.82
This is the time of all
these great, great people.
00:12:37.85\00:12:42.71
So you need to understand that.
00:12:43.64\00:12:46.03
But it's talking about
Medo-Persia, verses 1 and 2.
00:12:46.06\00:12:50.84
That's what it deals with.
00:12:50.87\00:12:52.04
Verses 3 through
13, Daniel 11:3-13,
00:12:52.51\00:12:58.26
is talking about Greece.
00:12:58.29\00:13:00.92
That's who it's dealing with.

And he'll start out
with Alexander the Great and
00:13:03.03\00:13:05.86
he'll go through all
these different kings,
00:13:05.89\00:13:08.91
and the four kings and all that.
00:13:08.94\00:13:11.03
And that's what is contained
in verses 3 through 13.
00:13:11.06\00:13:15.10
It's about the
kingdoms of Greece.
00:13:15.13\00:13:17.10
So these kings, how
they rose, what they did.

And people get lost
because Gabriel is not talking
00:13:21.41\00:13:26.33
in prophetic language.
00:13:26.74\00:13:28.48
He's talking more
in literal language.
00:13:28.51\00:13:31.09
And he's giving these different
kings that were going to rise.

He doesn't
necessarily call them by name,
00:13:34.70\00:13:37.21
but he talks and he
refers to some of them as the
00:13:37.24\00:13:40.02
kings of the North, some
as the kings of the South,
00:13:40.05\00:13:42.65
and so forth.

And they get lost in that.
00:13:43.74\00:13:45.15
But it's really talking
about the kings of Greece here
00:13:45.18\00:13:47.80
in verses 3 through 13.

And then chapter 11 verses
14 to 29 is talking about Rome.

You remember,
Babylon fell to Medo-Persia.

Medo-Persia fell to Greece.
00:14:04.40\00:14:06.24
Greece fell to Rome.
00:14:06.68\00:14:09.63
And so verses 14 to 29
is dealing with pagan Rome.

Now remember, Daniel
talked about four kingdoms;

Babylon,
Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome.

This 11th chapter
from this point on

talks totally about Rome.
00:14:27.36\00:14:29.43
That's what the chapter
from the 11th verse on...

Excuse me, from the 14th
verse on is talking about Rome.

Now different divisions of Rome,
but it's talking about Rome.
00:14:39.44\00:14:43.85
And so you need to understand
that as we're going through it.

And it talks about the
different people that rose.

It talks about Caesar.
00:14:51.95\00:14:56.03
It talks about Tiberius.

It talks about Mark Anthony.

where it's dealing with it.

is dealing with Papal Rome.

It's still Rome.

But it's dealing with papal Rome
and what papal Rome would do.

And that's what those verses are
describing and talking about,

is papal Rome and her rule.

And that brings

And it talks about
the re-establishment

of the Roman power.

The Roman power and
its rule in the last days.

And that's what verses
40 through 45 is about.

So if you just get that
kind of an outline in your mind,

explain the king of the North

the South to you.

If you look at this

an arrow that pinpoints

where Jerusalem is.

If you draw a ling east and
west, as I have drawn there,

then everything
above that line is North.

And all the countries and
everything that went through

there was what was
called the king of the North.
00:17:04.41\00:17:07.30
And everything below that
line was the king of the South.
00:17:08.17\00:17:11.93
And so in the king of the South
was such as Egypt, and so forth.

Above it was Syria and all
the other different nations.

Now a little reason for
this, folks, is because if you

notice where that line
goes, that cuts right through

the Arabian desert.

And the only way you
could really get to Israel

is you had to go and
follow the river around

and come down to Jerusalem.

And so invasions were made
upon Jerusalem out of the North.

And that's the
reason it's referred to
00:17:47.44\00:17:49.27
as the king of the North.

Or if they came up the
other way, it's referred to
00:17:51.91\00:17:54.78
as the king of the South.

Well that's how
that simply works.

So let's take a look now.

And I'm going to drop
back just a few verses

into the time of papal
Rome and establish some things

about papal Rome.

So I'm going to
start with verse 36

because it tells us
some things about papal Rome.

So it's saying that this
power will speak blasphemies

against the God of gods.

That text is
very important there,

"What has been
determined has been done."

And that's referring to
the fact when the papal power

would go down.
00:18:56.16\00:18:58.47
What had been determined,
he says is going to happen.

And as you know, I've talked
about it I think every evening,

and that was, in 1798 when
Napoleon, General Berthier,
00:19:05.94\00:19:12.01
went into Rome,
overthrew the papal power,
00:19:12.04\00:19:15.25
took the pope prisoner,
and took him back to France
00:19:15.28\00:19:18.38
where he died in France.
00:19:18.41\00:19:20.60
This began in history the time
of the captivity of the popes.
00:19:23.05\00:19:32.74
But the Bible
gives it another name.

And it says, in 1798
the time of the end began.
00:19:37.99\00:19:43.03
And you and I are
living in the time of the end
00:19:43.06\00:19:45.55
because it goes from
1798 to the coming of Christ.

Okay in 1798, that's
when that took place.

The Scripture speaks of
certain things that happen.

And what we're
talking about this morning

takes place during
the time of the end.

But also I mentioned
that the Scripture says that

the judgment takes
place in the time of the end.

But it says,
after that the judgment.

That doesn't mean...
