taking you through the Bible

say about the antichrist.

It's a very, very
important subject.

One that you and I
need to understand,

as God has revealed much in
the Scripture concerning this.

The Little Horn of Daniel 7.

God uses many
different types of symbolism

to identify the
little horn, not just one.
00:10:30.33\00:10:34.87
And therefore, it's necessary
that you and I understand
00:10:35.06\00:10:38.03
what the little horn is,
who it is, where it comes from,
00:10:38.59\00:10:42.09
and the symbolism
that represents it.
00:10:42.12\00:10:44.59
And tonight, the little
horn represents the antichrist.
00:10:44.62\00:10:49.00
That's what we're
talking about and we're
00:10:49.03\00:10:50.95
going to be looking at.
00:10:50.98\00:10:52.07
But as we take a
look at this subject
00:10:52.48\00:10:54.72
in Daniel, it makes a
statement and it says this.

It says...

Just a minute, let me
get where I can read it.
00:11:05.06\00:11:07.04
It says, "Those who are wise..."
00:11:21.70\00:11:25.16
Now you'll find when it
says, "Those who are wise,"
00:11:25.91\00:11:28.59
it's talking
about a group of people.
00:11:28.93\00:11:31.43
A special group of people.
00:11:32.15\00:11:33.69
And these people are
mentioned several places,
00:11:34.09\00:11:37.71
not just here in Daniel.
00:11:37.74\00:11:39.18
But it's mentioned in
the book of Revelation.
00:11:39.48\00:11:41.70
It continues in Daniel saying...
00:11:42.03\00:11:44.11
Alright, Daniel 12:9, it says,
shut up the book or seal it,
00:11:52.53\00:11:56.47
for the words are sealed
"until the time of the end."
00:11:56.50\00:12:00.49
It has to be talking
about at the end of time
00:12:00.52\00:12:03.76
before Jesus comes.
00:12:03.79\00:12:05.87
Listen to what he
says here, verse 10.
00:12:05.90\00:12:08.62
See, it's referring back
to that same word, "wise."
00:12:22.01\00:12:25.97
"The wise shall understand."
00:12:26.17\00:12:27.72
In Hebrew, that word "wise"
is a word called, "maskilim."
00:12:27.75\00:12:32.62
This is the word for "wise."
00:12:33.16\00:12:35.57
And when it's
talking about the maskilim,
00:12:35.60\00:12:37.90
these are a group of people.
00:12:37.93\00:12:40.71
People that are not only
wise concerning the Scripture,
00:12:40.74\00:12:44.06
but they're wise in
their conduct and how they
00:12:44.09\00:12:46.94
conduct themselves.
00:12:46.97\00:12:48.48
And so this is a
special group of people.
00:12:48.51\00:12:51.94
And the Bible is
very clear that you and I
00:12:51.97\00:12:55.76
want to be among these.

This group of people are
talked about over in Revelation.

Revelation 14 verse 12.

John takes this group of
people and puts them among
00:13:13.14\00:13:18.03
these that are of the maskilim.
00:13:18.06\00:13:20.58
Because when you
read Revelation 13:18,
00:13:20.96\00:13:25.56
it says this, "Here is..." What?
00:13:25.59\00:13:29.54
Okay.
00:13:29.57\00:13:30.74
Wise, here are
those that are wise.
00:13:30.77\00:13:32.86
"Here is wisdom."
00:13:33.16\00:13:34.53
What about them?
00:13:34.56\00:13:35.80
So when it talks
about the beast here...

And we'll be studying
that in another night or two.

...that the beast is
also that of the antichrist.

Another symbolism
that's used for the antichrist
00:13:54.50\00:13:58.40
is the beast.
00:13:58.43\00:13:59.63
And so it says,
"Here is wisdom."
00:14:00.37\00:14:02.65
Here's the person
that's wise, that understands;
00:14:02.68\00:14:06.30
the maskilim.
00:14:06.63\00:14:07.96
Again, Revelation 17
verses 9 and 10, it says...
00:14:08.16\00:14:12.46
And so we find that the
Scripture refers to this
00:14:19.44\00:14:22.68
group of people who are wise.
00:14:22.71\00:14:26.21
And what you and I need to be
tonight is, we need to be wise.
00:14:26.60\00:14:30.71
We need to be among the maskilim
00:14:31.47\00:14:34.59
and understand what it
has to say particularly
00:14:35.30\00:14:38.60
about the antichrist.
00:14:38.63\00:14:40.22
And so tonight, we're going
to Daniel the seventh chapter.
00:14:40.25\00:14:45.65
We're going to take a
look at the little horn.
00:14:46.24\00:14:48.67
Because the Scripture
identifies the little horn
00:14:49.16\00:14:52.10
as the antichrist.
00:14:52.42\00:14:54.65
Now this is important, folks,
because the Scripture says
00:14:55.38\00:15:00.42
more about this
power, about the antichrist,
00:15:00.45\00:15:05.80
than it does any other
power in all of the Scripture.
00:15:05.83\00:15:10.21
So it's very
important that you and I
00:15:10.87\00:15:13.20
understand what it's saying.
00:15:13.23\00:15:15.03
So let's go to Daniel 7 verse 3.
00:15:15.06\00:15:18.98
And it says...
00:15:19.01\00:15:20.13
So we have four beasts
coming up out of the sea.
00:15:25.81\00:15:28.50
And again, you're going
to see as we continue through
00:15:28.70\00:15:32.66
the series, these
four beasts are important
00:15:32.69\00:15:37.10
because they set an
order that's necessary that
00:15:37.57\00:15:41.19
you and I understand.
00:15:41.22\00:15:43.01
Four beasts came
up out of the sea.
00:15:43.04\00:15:45.08
And it says, "Those great
beasts, which are four..."
00:15:45.46\00:15:49.04
But Scripture
doesn't leave us an any doubt
00:15:54.31\00:15:56.43
as to who these four beasts are.
00:15:56.73\00:16:00.03
And it tells us, "The
first one was like a lion..."
00:16:00.34\00:16:04.30
So this first one is a lion.
00:16:17.33\00:16:20.21
It has eagle's wings.
00:16:21.71\00:16:23.20
It has a man's heart.
00:16:24.37\00:16:26.31
And it stood up on two feet.
00:16:26.81\00:16:29.60
Now if you went over to
the ruins of Babylon of old,
00:16:30.32\00:16:36.11
you would find that this lion
is not something that wasn't
00:16:36.61\00:16:39.74
pictured there.
00:16:40.23\00:16:41.26
It was.
00:16:41.29\00:16:42.32
In fact, Scripture
refers to Babylon as the lion.
00:16:42.35\00:16:47.06
Listen to what is
says in Jeremiah 4 verse 7.
00:16:47.09\00:16:49.76
So this lion which was Babylon,
was going to come in and
00:17:02.62\00:17:08.05
destroy many of the nations.
00:17:08.08\00:17:10.58
Now what you're
looking at there on the screen
00:17:10.61\00:17:14.04
is a picture of the Ishtar Gate.
00:17:14.07\00:17:17.62
Part of it, I should say.
00:17:17.65\00:17:19.06
And you'll
notice there the lion.
00:17:19.36\00:17:20.94
And if you look carefully,
you can see the eagle's wings
00:17:20.97\00:17:24.99
as they're
painted on the lion there.
00:17:25.68\00:17:28.32
This was pictured...

The British museum, who came in
and did excavation on the ruins
00:17:30.57\00:17:34.99
of Babylon, found statues
of lions with eagle's wings
00:17:35.02\00:17:38.97
that pictured Babylon of old.
00:17:39.26\00:17:42.19
Daniel, as he explained
this vision, talked about
00:17:43.36\00:17:49.06
this lion being Babylon.
00:17:49.09\00:17:51.90
Babylon overthrew the
kingdom of Syria in 605 BC.
00:17:53.06\00:18:00.18
Nebuchadnezzar had taken
everything that he could take
00:18:01.06\00:18:05.20
and had literally lavished
it upon the city of Babylon.
00:18:05.23\00:18:08.62
And it was a
marvelous, wonderful kingdom
00:18:08.65\00:18:12.42
that he had built.
00:18:12.45\00:18:14.30
And Babylon lasted
for a total of 70 years.
00:18:14.33\00:18:19.40
That's all, 70 years.
00:18:19.43\00:18:21.93
Nebuchadnezzar ruled
40 of those 70 years.
00:18:21.96\00:18:26.85
But we continue on and it
talks about another beast.

Daniel 7 verse 5.
00:18:31.06\00:18:32.93
So now we have a bear
coming up out of the sea.
00:18:46.53\00:18:51.48
This bear raises
himself up on one side.
00:18:52.11\00:18:56.42
It has three ribs in its mouth.
00:18:56.97\00:18:59.18
And this represented
the country of Medo-Persia.
00:18:59.69\00:19:03.33
Darius the Mede
and Cyrus the Persian
00:19:04.80\00:19:10.84
went together and
formed a coalition to overthrow
00:19:11.63\00:19:15.50
the city of Babylon.
00:19:15.53\00:19:17.10
And thus they went up, Cyrus
particularly as the general,
00:19:18.15\00:19:21.37
went up and
surrounded the city of Babylon
00:19:21.40\00:19:23.93
and overthrew it.
00:19:24.31\00:19:25.73
The Medes and Persians took
everything that was before them.
00:19:27.52\00:19:31.89
Kind of like a
bear, slow and cumbersome.
00:19:31.92\00:19:34.58
But they moved in and they took
one territory after another.
00:19:34.61\00:19:38.59
The three ribs and
the mouth of this bear
00:19:38.62\00:19:42.70
represented the three
countries that they overthrew;
00:19:42.73\00:19:45.79
which was Egypt in
535 BC, Babylon in 539 BC,
00:19:45.82\00:19:51.53
Lydia in 546 BC.
00:19:51.56\00:19:54.48
They took one country
after another and ruled
00:19:54.76\00:19:58.27
the whole country.
00:19:58.82\00:20:00.49
Marvelous what God did for
the country of Medo-Persia.
00:20:00.59\00:20:05.43
We'll talk about it.
00:20:05.46\00:20:06.50
A lot of great people, and
I'm talking about God's people,
00:20:06.80\00:20:10.67
that lived during the
time of the Medes and Persians.
00:20:10.70\00:20:14.16
They served the Lord, they
were great witnesses for God.
00:20:14.64\00:20:18.05
And the country of Medo-Persia
had an opportunity to see God,
00:20:18.42\00:20:22.61
like very few
others had an opportunity.
00:20:22.91\00:20:26.49
But after the bear it
says that there was another.
00:20:26.78\00:20:30.51
And by the way, Medo-Persia
overthrew Babylon in 539 BC.

The next one,
Daniel 7 verse 6...

So now we have a
beast, it's like a leopard.

Instead of having two
wings, it has four wings.

And it also has four heads.
00:21:01.18\00:21:04.25
This represented
the country of Greece.
00:21:04.67\00:21:07.63
History tells us clearly,
and so does the Scripture

tell us clearly, that
Greece overthrew Medo-Persia
00:21:10.49\00:21:15.85
under the leadership
of Alexander the Great.
00:21:16.17\00:21:18.92
Alexander the Great met Darius
and the Medes and Persians
00:21:20.56\00:21:25.09
on the plains of
Arbela in 331 BC.
00:21:25.12\00:21:30.90
Darius had over one million men.
00:21:32.21\00:21:36.58
Alexander the Great had 40,000.
00:21:37.67\00:21:41.43
And by implementing
a new type of warfare,
00:21:42.95\00:21:46.17
Alexander the
Great overthrew him.
00:21:46.67\00:21:48.82
Alexander the Great took
everything that was before him.
00:21:50.04\00:21:53.45
And by the way, it's interesting
that it makes the statement

in Scripture here that
he would rule the world.

And he did, basically.
00:21:59.91\00:22:01.43
Taking his army, marched
it clear to the borders of the
00:22:01.46\00:22:04.18
country of India.
00:22:04.21\00:22:05.59
And to the place
that his soldiers refused

to go any farther.

And they're headed back home.

Alexander the Great, 32
years of age, suffering from

drunkenness, from
malaria, he's laying on a table

in the city of Babylon, dying.
00:22:31.58\00:22:34.79
And as he lays there,
his four generals come in.
00:22:36.04\00:22:39.38
And they said to him, "To
whom will you give the kingdom?"
00:22:40.19\00:22:42.89
And he said, "I'll give
my kingdom to the strongest."
00:22:43.61\00:22:47.65
Those four wings on that leopard
represented the swiftness
00:22:48.72\00:22:53.05
with which he took every
country that was before him.
00:22:53.08\00:22:55.99
And the four heads represented
Alexander the Great's
00:22:56.40\00:23:00.88
four generals that the
kingdom was divided among them.
00:23:00.91\00:23:04.73
Cassander was divided and he
was given Macedonia and Greece.
00:23:05.68\00:23:10.38
They divided up
Alexander the Great's kingdom,
00:23:18.79\00:23:22.63
just exactly as the
Scripture said they would.

Now you need to follow, folks,
and put it down in your memory

because it'll
become very important.

And we've looked at
Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece.

Three nations.

Now we come to the fourth one.

And by the way, Greece
overthrew Medo-Persia in 331 BC.

The fourth one, it
says, "After this I saw

in the night vision..."

This beast,
different than all the others.

It says that it devoured
everything that was before it.

Stamped the
residue with its feet.

It overthrew everything.

And this was the
kingdom of pagan Rome.

Pagan Rome used a
different philosophy.

Whereas Nebuchadnezzar,
Cyrus, Alexander,

they came in and overthrew
one country after another,

cities one after another,
but Rome didn't do that.

Rome gave them a choice.
