and they were violent men.

It was an immoral

Then he appeared.

haired, no-nonsense prophet.

His name was
John, John the Baptist.

He had no pedigree, he
had no theological education.

He was not a
well respected rabbi.

He was not educated
in any of the theological

rabbinical schools.

But this thing he had; power.

They came out to the
Jordan by the thousands.

Their hearts were
touched by the words of John.

Their lives were changed
by the preaching of John.

They fell on their knees
and sought mercy and grace

Transformations took
place as John the Baptist

spoke on the

And as he thundered

led them to confession and
led them to a genuine experience

Now notice the Bible does
not say, "He will baptize you

with the Holy
Spirit or with fire."

Notice what it says.

"He will baptize you
with the Holy Spirit..."

And what,
everybody? "...and fire."

In other words, the
baptism of the Holy Spirit

is the baptism of fire.

the symbolism of fire?

as a symbol of the Holy Spirit.

to study fire as a symbol
