we live in there are many,

call, self help books.

Ideas that men have come
up with to help you improve

in different aspects of life.

However, there is nothing
that men can come up with

that is better than
what God has provided.

In fact, Jesus says in
John chapter 15 verse 5,

"Without Me,
you can do nothing."

And if that is true,
all of the self help books

really can only give
you information that if you

don't allow Christ to dwell
in you, there will be no change,

no permanent change.

Because God is the
only one that can make a

permanent change in us.

What we have in this world
is a society that is going,

say, from bad to worse.

So if we're going to conform
ourselves to the standards

to find out that we are going to

So the apostle Paul tells us,
be not conformed to this world,

to the customs and the
ways of life of this world,

but be ye
transformed by the... What?

...renewing of your mind.

Now it is interesting that
the Bible mentions the mind.

Why the Mind?

Why does the mind
have to be transformed?

You see, in this world,
when we come into this world,

unfortunately when
we come into this world

we inherit
tendencies toward evil.

It's a natural way of life.

You also inherit good
things from your parents.

I don't want you to
blame completely your parents.

You inherit good things,
but you also inherit bad things.

But it is up to you
what you will choose to do

tendencies, those bad desires

influence is around you.

whatever you expose yourself to

Whether it be for good
or whether it be for evil.

And now it is not
only that you physically

expose yourself to these things,
you now have media coming into

your home; be it television,
be it radio, be it internet.

Now magazines and books.

All of these things
have an influence upon you.

Everything you see,
everything you hear,

everything that has
to do with the senses,

has an influence upon you.

So we, as
Christians, have to make choices

that will lead us to
transforming our minds

like the mind of Jesus Christ.

Let us look at some scriptures
that help us understand

our condition.

For this we turn to
Isaiah chapter 64 verse 6.

that told us about repentance,
the importance of repentance.

And when God works in
the heart and the mind

through the Holy Spirit
and convicts us of our sins,

and we respond by repentance
and confessing our sins,

marvelous begins to happen.

Something marvelous begins
to happen because that's the

transformation in our lives.

Isaiah chapter 64 and verse
6 gives us the following words.

"But we are all as an
unclean thing, and all our

righteousness
are as filthy rags;

and we all do fade as a leaf;

and our iniquities, like
the wind, have taken us away."

Now when you look at this
text and you say, "But we..."

In other words,
"all our righteousness."

That's the very best
that you can possibly do,

the very best that
you can possible produce,

is as filthy rags.

And in the eyes of the Lord,
they have one, not even an iota,

count towards salvation.

The Bible says that
"by grace are you saved,

is not of ourselves.

So you can do one sin...

How many sins did I say?

You can commit one sin and
you can live your whole lifetime

doing good things.

lifetime of doing good,

No, it does not.

But the last part of the
verse tells us good news.

What does it say?

"...eternal life

I was amazed, one
time a program came to 3ABN

and they had taken some
video of some people in prison.

And several of the
prisoners were giving their

favorite Bible text.

And one of them said,
"My favorite Bible text is,
00:17:53.75\00:17:55.80
'The wages of sin is death.'"

I was like shocked.

But it was the last part
that he was rejoicing in.

"But the gift of
God is eternal life

through His Son, Jesus Christ."

So that is a
text with good news.

It lets us know our condition;
what is the result of sin.

But it lets us know that if
we come to God, what do we have?

Eternal life through
His Son, Jesus Christ.

So, if you live your whole
lifetime doing only one sin,

will you be saved if you never
turn your life over to Christ?

No.

Because the Bible says
that "by grace are you saved

It is the gift of God.

So, when we turn our Bibles
to Romans chapter 3 verse 23.

here that can quote this verse.

It is very simple.

The Bible says,
"For all have sinned,

and come short of
the glory of God."

The Bible very plainly
says that all have sinned.

No one is excluded.

All have sinned and come
short of the glory of God.

So upon this world, every
single person that has been born

is in need of a
Savior, except for one.

Who is that?

Jesus Christ.

For He lived a perfect
life, we find in the Bible.

And the Bible says that
He was in all points tempted

like as we are, yet without sin.

And He is our Savior.

And the Bible further tells
us that no man can come to God

except through Jesus Christ.

And that there is no

men could be saved.

And that
includes your name. Right?

Now let's consider 2
Corinthians chapter 5 verse 21.

A wonderful
passage in the Scriptures.

Consider this
marvelous scripture.

The Bible tells us, "For He,"
that is God, "hath made Him,"

Jesus Christ, "to be
sin for us, who knew no sin;

that we might be made the
righteousness of God in Him."

Let's consider this text.

"For He," that is God,
"has made Him," Jesus Christ,

"to be sin for us."

What does that mean?

That means that as you
look at the life of Christ,

you see a point in time that
Jesus Christ took upon Himself

your sins and my sins.

John the Baptist said,
"Behold the Lamb of God

that taketh away
the sin of the world."

That is Jesus Christ.

He's the only one that
can take away our sins.

So when it says that Christ, God
has made Him to be sin for us,
