Welcome to Anchors Of Truth 00:00:12.59\00:00:14.91 live from the 3ABN Worship Center. 00:00:14.94\00:00:17.61 Last Day Events with John Lomacang. 00:00:17.64\00:00:20.98 Hello friends and welcome once again to the 3ABN Worship Center 00:00:23.02\00:00:26.80 located in one of the largest cities in the world; 00:00:26.81\00:00:29.29 Thompsonville, Illinois. 00:00:29.32\00:00:30.71 Can the church say amen. 00:00:30.74\00:00:32.07 It's the hub of quite a bit of what's happening in the world. 00:00:33.02\00:00:36.38 And praise the Lord that He has chosen this obscure village 00:00:36.39\00:00:40.18 to be a place where beams of light are going in every 00:00:40.19\00:00:43.59 direction around the world. 00:00:43.62\00:00:44.89 And we thank you today for tuning in and waiting for 00:00:44.92\00:00:48.14 the Lord to speak to your heart. 00:00:48.15\00:00:49.61 And whether you're joining us via satellite, television, 00:00:49.64\00:00:53.82 internet, or radio, or however, whatever means God is using to 00:00:53.85\00:00:57.98 reach you with this message today, we thank you for 00:00:58.01\00:01:00.92 taking the time to sit down and listen to what the 00:01:00.95\00:01:03.88 Spirit of God has to say to you. 00:01:03.91\00:01:05.92 We began a few days ago. 00:01:05.93\00:01:07.65 And the entire topic this week, or for this Anchors series, 00:01:07.68\00:01:10.91 was Last Day Events. 00:01:10.92\00:01:12.83 The first sermon was The Final Countdown, 00:01:12.86\00:01:15.27 then The Final Stage, then The Final Coalition last night. 00:01:15.30\00:01:19.23 This morning's message is entitled, The Final Apostasy. 00:01:19.26\00:01:23.57 And then on this afternoon at 3:00 pm Central time, 00:01:23.60\00:01:27.41 I want to invite you to come back, we have the last message 00:01:27.44\00:01:30.49 entitled, The Last Act. 00:01:30.52\00:01:33.61 We are living in very critical times in the world, 00:01:34.01\00:01:36.24 and what's happening around us is almost imperceptible. 00:01:36.27\00:01:38.82 It's like a coming tsunami. 00:01:38.85\00:01:41.14 500 miles an hour but you can't see it because 00:01:41.17\00:01:44.09 it's under the surface. 00:01:44.10\00:01:45.46 And so we pray that the Holy Spirit today will guide your 00:01:45.49\00:01:48.33 heart, open your ears, and also give you the leading of the 00:01:48.36\00:01:52.95 Holy Spirit to bring, not only information, 00:01:52.98\00:01:55.27 but to bring conviction and to lead you to the 00:01:55.30\00:01:58.12 person of Christ Jesus. 00:01:58.15\00:02:00.65 So bow your heads with me as we invite the Lord 00:02:00.68\00:02:03.32 to continue with us this morning. 00:02:03.35\00:02:05.84 Our gracious Father in heaven, we thank You, Father, that 00:02:07.16\00:02:09.54 when we open the Word, things get brighter. 00:02:10.55\00:02:13.40 In this day and age, Father, we pray that more will 00:02:14.47\00:02:17.06 choose to open the Word, for there to be an extension 00:02:17.09\00:02:21.49 of light in this field of darkness. 00:02:21.50\00:02:24.45 We now put our lives in Your hand, heavenly Father, 00:02:25.13\00:02:27.74 and we ask that You'll lead us and guide us. 00:02:28.36\00:02:30.02 We also pray that You'll work on the hearts of those who are 00:02:30.05\00:02:33.03 hearing this concentrated truth for the very first time. 00:02:33.06\00:02:36.54 Dilute it so that they can digest it, 00:02:37.37\00:02:39.73 not that it will go away. 00:02:39.76\00:02:41.30 And I pray that, Lord, I submit myself to You, that Your 00:02:41.33\00:02:44.21 Holy Spirit will work through me to accomplish Your 00:02:44.24\00:02:47.59 design and Your purpose. 00:02:47.62\00:02:49.02 In Jesus' name I pray, amen. 00:02:49.03\00:02:52.66 Revelation 13 verses 11 to 12 is the scripture for this morning. 00:02:54.07\00:02:58.10 You know, I remember when my wife and I flew to Australia. 00:02:59.27\00:03:02.48 That is, consciously. 00:03:03.19\00:03:04.80 We went with the Heritage Singers, but I remember being 00:03:04.83\00:03:07.10 invited there again. 00:03:07.13\00:03:08.70 And we both went together. 00:03:08.73\00:03:10.73 I won't mention the airline. 00:03:10.99\00:03:12.22 But there was something very intriguing about flying back. 00:03:12.25\00:03:15.67 On this particular occasion, we had never done it before 00:03:15.97\00:03:19.23 and we haven't done it since, on this particular occasion 00:03:19.60\00:03:23.35 we left Australia in the evening when it was dark, 00:03:23.91\00:03:27.57 never knowing that we would arrive in San Francisco 00:03:28.29\00:03:32.58 three hours before we left. 00:03:32.61\00:03:34.71 The phenomena of flying against the time zone is this. 00:03:37.28\00:03:41.46 We left at night, as we were in flight the sun rose, 00:03:41.49\00:03:46.32 before we landed the sun set. 00:03:46.35\00:03:48.91 We left in darkness, flew in the light, landed in darkness. 00:03:48.94\00:03:53.89 And you know, to some degree, that's how our world is today. 00:03:54.19\00:03:56.83 This Protestant Reformation that I introduced last night 00:03:57.76\00:04:00.69 took off in darkness. 00:04:00.70\00:04:02.22 At its height, we were flying in the light. 00:04:02.25\00:04:05.48 But now we're getting to the place where the world is 00:04:05.78\00:04:08.48 descending again into darkness. 00:04:08.51\00:04:11.82 This is the critical hour where those who understand that the 00:04:11.85\00:04:16.09 Word of God is a light and a lamp need to embrace 00:04:16.10\00:04:19.61 the Word of God afresh all over again. 00:04:19.64\00:04:21.88 This is a crisis hour. 00:04:22.48\00:04:24.52 And even though we live in an age where more Bibles are 00:04:24.55\00:04:27.07 sold and read and put into all kinds of forms of media, 00:04:27.08\00:04:30.39 we're still living in one of the darkest hours 00:04:30.42\00:04:33.06 in earth's history. 00:04:33.09\00:04:34.40 This Bible verse tells us what we can expect 00:04:34.60\00:04:37.52 and how the scenario is going to unfold before us. 00:04:37.53\00:04:40.89 John the revelator, marooned on an island at Patmos, 00:04:41.45\00:04:45.60 sequestered there by the very power of Rome, 00:04:46.26\00:04:49.14 he begins to write what God gave to him 00:04:49.17\00:04:52.59 as they unsuccessfully tried to end his life 00:04:52.62\00:04:56.85 in a cauldron of boiling oil. 00:04:56.86\00:04:59.32 They could not put his light out because God was about to 00:04:59.35\00:05:02.84 turn his light on. 00:05:02.87\00:05:04.05 And thus, this message is communicated, from a little man 00:05:04.08\00:05:07.31 languishing on the island of Patmos, 00:05:07.85\00:05:10.03 to people in this modern age. 00:05:10.06\00:05:12.14 Listen to what he says. 00:05:12.17\00:05:13.62 John walks us through an unfolding scenario of how 00:05:46.31\00:05:49.48 things are going to be in the end times. 00:05:49.58\00:05:51.44 And whether we believe this languishing prophet or not, 00:05:51.85\00:05:55.26 his words being communicated through him from God, 00:05:55.85\00:05:58.38 these are accurate words. 00:05:58.41\00:05:59.91 We're living in a stage that's developing. 00:05:59.94\00:06:02.39 Truly, the issue of the last days is going to be worship. 00:06:02.42\00:06:05.76 Everybody is going to be worshipping. 00:06:05.79\00:06:08.14 Everybody is going to worship something. 00:06:08.17\00:06:10.35 Someone once said, if you want to see what people worship, 00:06:10.97\00:06:14.24 look at their bank books. 00:06:14.27\00:06:15.45 Nowadays I would say, look at their credit card statements. 00:06:15.48\00:06:17.98 Everybody worships something. 00:06:18.01\00:06:20.23 God created within us a vacuum that can only 00:06:20.26\00:06:24.22 be filled by worship. 00:06:24.25\00:06:25.67 Whether it's materialistic things or whether it's 00:06:25.68\00:06:29.26 worshipping God. 00:06:29.27\00:06:30.35 But I want to say this. 00:06:30.38\00:06:31.41 Materialistic things cannot satisfy us 00:06:32.23\00:06:35.36 like worshipping God can. 00:06:35.39\00:06:37.63 Last night I talked about the coalition, the seven systems 00:06:38.49\00:06:41.54 through which Satan has worked throughout the generations. 00:06:41.57\00:06:43.86 Mentioning once again that this is not something that is 00:06:44.16\00:06:46.33 encapsulated in one particular section of the Bible. 00:06:46.34\00:06:48.96 But as we begin to unfold in this morning and 00:06:49.67\00:06:51.97 this afternoon's presentations the seventh part of the 00:06:52.00\00:06:55.65 final coalition, we will discover that the seventh 00:06:55.68\00:06:59.26 or last piece of the final coalition has been 00:06:59.36\00:07:02.47 in development for nearly 500 years. 00:07:02.50\00:07:07.48 Unlike spiritualism that's been in existence 00:07:09.02\00:07:12.16 for nearly 6000 years. 00:07:12.19\00:07:14.80 Each of the portions of these systems, each of the 00:07:14.83\00:07:17.46 components of this seven piece final coalition, 00:07:17.49\00:07:20.36 has a life on the shelf. 00:07:20.39\00:07:23.17 This is the youngest one with the shortest shelf life, 00:07:23.20\00:07:26.82 but the greatest impact. 00:07:26.85\00:07:28.54 And there's a paradigm shift that's taking place 00:07:28.95\00:07:31.13 in our world. 00:07:31.16\00:07:32.21 It is a subtle but steady transition from 00:07:32.77\00:07:35.57 light to darkness. 00:07:35.58\00:07:37.34 It is the continual and determined acceptance 00:07:37.89\00:07:41.21 of error in place of truth. 00:07:41.24\00:07:44.09 But the danger is, when error is embraced in place of truth, 00:07:44.49\00:07:49.19 evil will be embraced in place of good. 00:07:49.22\00:07:53.64 Ellen White said it this way, and I summarized it. 00:07:54.55\00:07:56.61 When we believe right of all wrong, 00:07:57.62\00:08:01.39 eventually we will believe evil of all good. 00:08:01.42\00:08:04.87 In this day and age where error is accepted as though 00:08:06.91\00:08:09.89 delivered by God, which it's not, it is hard to see light 00:08:09.92\00:08:14.23 when you have made your mind accustomed to darkness. 00:08:14.53\00:08:17.32 When you have accepted a lie, it is almost against your 00:08:17.70\00:08:21.82 natural mental grain to now begin to love 00:08:21.85\00:08:24.79 and embrace the truth. 00:08:24.82\00:08:26.00 And we're living, even though we have so many evidences, 00:08:26.03\00:08:28.76 we are living in one of the darkest periods 00:08:28.77\00:08:31.00 in earth's history. 00:08:31.03\00:08:32.08 Categorized also by the last church, the church of Laodicea. 00:08:32.11\00:08:36.04 Filled with goods. 00:08:36.72\00:08:38.26 Magnificent mega and giga churches in our world today, 00:08:38.56\00:08:41.77 but oh how dark many of them are. 00:08:42.07\00:08:44.85 That's why Paul the apostle wrote these words in 00:08:45.31\00:08:47.49 Romans 14 and verse 6. 00:08:47.52\00:08:48.80 He said: 00:08:48.83\00:08:49.83 What he means by that is simply this. 00:08:55.96\00:08:57.90 People, when you try to communicate the truth 00:08:58.31\00:09:00.64 from God's word, under some spiritual bend or some 00:09:00.65\00:09:06.16 satanic bend, they turn what you say into something 00:09:06.19\00:09:09.97 that seems to be bad. 00:09:09.98\00:09:11.78 You communicate the message of the Sabbath, 00:09:12.04\00:09:14.04 or the state of the dead, or any of the tenants of the faith, 00:09:14.07\00:09:18.31 or any of the 28 fundamentals, and people, even Christians 00:09:18.34\00:09:21.98 that receive it, almost receives it as though it's something bad. 00:09:21.99\00:09:26.39 And then evil is spoken of it when it really is good. 00:09:26.42\00:09:31.07 John the apostle was also given a glimpse 00:09:31.36\00:09:34.05 of the coming religious shift. 00:09:34.25\00:09:36.51 Jude 1 and verse 3, look at what he says. 00:09:36.87\00:09:40.30 Let me just say something. 00:09:48.08\00:09:49.08 There's a common salvation in Christendom. 00:09:49.10\00:09:51.41 That is simply this; we believe that we are saved by grace 00:09:51.44\00:09:54.27 through faith in Jesus Christ alone. 00:09:54.30\00:09:56.11 Can you say amen. 00:09:56.14\00:09:57.47 That's the common salvation. 00:09:57.50\00:09:59.23 But John didn't leave it there. 00:09:59.60\00:10:02.88 He said, "But there's something I need to talk to you about. 00:10:02.91\00:10:05.42 Although we have a common salvation and we look to Jesus, 00:10:05.45\00:10:08.41 everyone of us, there's something I need to 00:10:08.44\00:10:10.20 pull your coat tail about." 00:10:10.23\00:10:11.66 As he continues, he said: 00:10:12.13\00:10:13.70 When the apostles began to die out, the truths of the cross 00:10:27.23\00:10:31.60 began to fade away with them. 00:10:31.63\00:10:33.15 When Roman persecution began to rise up under the Roman Emperor 00:10:33.18\00:10:36.14 Diocletian from 303 to 313 AD, all those who had faithfully 00:10:36.17\00:10:40.68 embraced the message, that was given to them by the 00:10:40.71\00:10:42.64 apostolic church, began to die off. 00:10:42.67\00:10:44.99 And Rome sought in strategic and very military ways 00:10:45.26\00:10:48.44 to break the church down and turn its attention right back 00:10:48.47\00:10:52.12 to the reigning and ruling power of Rome. 00:10:52.15\00:10:54.55 As a matter of fact, the entire New Testament, 00:10:54.58\00:10:56.53 its entire history comes from the time that Rome was in power. 00:10:57.71\00:11:02.90 From the very first chapter in Matthew to the very last chapter 00:11:02.93\00:11:07.13 in the book of Revelation, all existing, all taken from 00:11:07.16\00:11:10.51 the period under the reign of Rome. 00:11:10.52\00:11:12.75 However, as God led men to be faithful to what God called 00:11:13.14\00:11:17.68 them to, on October 31, 1517, repulsed by the error that 00:11:17.71\00:11:25.36 was taught by the church of the dark ages, 00:11:25.39\00:11:28.68 Martin Luther began to contend with the hierarchy of Rome. 00:11:28.71\00:11:34.97 He began what we now call today, the Protestant Reformation. 00:11:35.00\00:11:40.41 Here's a picture of Martin Luther nailing his contentions, 00:11:40.44\00:11:45.21 or his thesis, to the church door at Wittenberg, Germany. 00:11:45.24\00:11:49.59 The other picture to the right there is the church that is 00:11:49.62\00:11:52.46 now a part of the Reformation tour. 00:11:52.47\00:11:54.44 You can go to Wittenberg Germany and it would take you somewhat 00:11:54.45\00:11:57.53 like our pioneer's tour in the northeast. 00:11:57.56\00:12:00.01 That's the church there where people pass by and they 00:12:00.04\00:12:02.33 see that as a place where the Protestant Reformation began. 00:12:02.36\00:12:05.57 In other words, God began a movement to restore 00:12:05.60\00:12:09.87 the integrity of the Bible. 00:12:09.90\00:12:12.37 The Bible had been stamped out. 00:12:14.01\00:12:15.72 That's why when you study history... 00:12:15.75\00:12:17.40 I loved history. 00:12:17.41\00:12:18.44 As a matter of fact, that was one of my 00:12:18.45\00:12:19.45 favorite subjects in school. 00:12:19.46\00:12:20.78 Science and history and math, one of my favorite subjects. 00:12:20.81\00:12:23.42 It was when I began to study history in school 00:12:24.18\00:12:26.52 that I realized how much the Bible was parallel to many 00:12:27.08\00:12:31.86 events that unfolded in history. 00:12:31.87\00:12:33.97 Namely, the dark ages. Also called, the medieval times. 00:12:34.00\00:12:36.84 Medieval, because the times that the Protestant Reformation 00:12:36.87\00:12:39.92 was catapulted was during the times that evil was 00:12:39.95\00:12:42.87 in its middle stages. 00:12:42.90\00:12:44.86 People were put to death, considered heretics. 00:12:44.89\00:12:48.63 And those who were outside of the church, the church of Rome, 00:12:48.66\00:12:51.53 gave the job to the civil government to inflict 00:12:51.56\00:12:54.56 the penalties, just like it happened to Jesus. 00:12:54.59\00:12:57.67 The Jews gave the Romans the job to inflict civil penalties 00:12:57.70\00:13:01.43 on Jesus, "for religious infractions," they said. 00:13:01.44\00:13:04.72 And during the dark ages, God did not forget His people. 00:13:05.07\00:13:09.53 The Word of God, though trampled down, the Word of God 00:13:09.56\00:13:13.83 continued to shine in the hearts of those who sought for it. 00:13:13.86\00:13:17.90 And Martin Luther, as he went on a pilgrimage to the 00:13:18.26\00:13:22.39 Vatican City, to Rome, as he went there and read the Bible 00:13:22.42\00:13:26.07 that was chained to the altars, which only the bishops 00:13:26.10\00:13:28.74 and the popes had access to, he began to read. 00:13:28.77\00:13:31.32 And the Bible says in Psalm 119 verse 130, listen to the words. 00:13:31.35\00:13:35.90 Martin Luther began to read the Bible for himself. 00:13:44.71\00:13:47.14 And he stayed in this pilgrimage in Rome much longer than he 00:13:47.17\00:13:50.07 intended to be there. 00:13:50.08\00:13:52.51 He stayed there to read the Bible for himself. 00:13:52.54\00:13:55.11 And he began to formulate and understand that the theory 00:13:55.51\00:13:58.81 and the source of his salvation was not by the works that 00:13:58.82\00:14:03.01 he had formerly embraced. 00:14:03.02\00:14:04.68 But simply by the faith; by faith in Jesus, 00:14:06.33\00:14:10.14 by faith in His word. 00:14:10.15\00:14:11.92 And so he stood on that platform, 00:14:12.67\00:14:14.78 "The just shall live by faith." 00:14:14.81\00:14:17.47 And he turned around and left a different man than he was 00:14:17.50\00:14:20.16 when he went to Rome. 00:14:20.19\00:14:21.43 The Protestant Reformation began. 00:14:22.32\00:14:24.11 And the revolt was against the teachings of the Roman church. 00:14:24.51\00:14:27.40 It was also called in history, 00:14:27.41\00:14:29.12 the European Christian Reform Movement. 00:14:29.13\00:14:33.38 Fueled by men like Martin Luther and John Calvin. 00:14:33.84\00:14:37.46 They were chief among the reformers. 00:14:37.49\00:14:39.42 But they were joined by a man by the name of Philip Melanchthon. 00:14:39.45\00:14:44.12 What they did together, as they rejected the system of works 00:14:44.70\00:14:48.02 that was put together by Roman Catholicism, 00:14:48.05\00:14:50.31 they began to systematically put the Bible together. 00:14:50.32\00:14:53.65 As a matter of fact, Martin Luther, refusing to recant 00:14:53.68\00:14:56.63 what he believed, he was sought by the Roman government. 00:14:56.66\00:14:59.46 And they asked him to recant what he believed, 00:14:59.96\00:15:02.40 and he refused to. 00:15:02.41\00:15:03.41 And then they said, "Well, since you will not give it up, 00:15:03.42\00:15:05.84 we're going to take your life." 00:15:05.87\00:15:06.96 And Martin Luther was hidden by one of his friends 00:15:06.99\00:15:14.35 in a castle in Germany. 00:15:14.38\00:15:16.18 And there, he faithfully methodically translated the 00:15:17.69\00:15:21.86 Bible from Latin to German. 00:15:21.89\00:15:25.12 He unchained the Bible from the altars of Rome 00:15:26.39\00:15:29.63 and began to pass it among the common man. 00:15:29.64\00:15:33.15 What a thing to be put in jail for; putting the Word of God 00:15:33.55\00:15:36.89 in the hand of the common man. 00:15:36.92\00:15:39.08 Not allowed by the powers and the governments of Rome. 00:15:40.37\00:15:43.86 John Calvin was a French theologian who also broke away 00:15:44.21\00:15:48.38 from the Roman church. 00:15:48.41\00:15:49.78 Philip Melanchthon joined Luther and Calvin as reformers. 00:15:49.81\00:15:53.18 And when they stood up toe to toe with the Roman hierarchy 00:15:53.21\00:15:56.39 and challenged them on every point, they were able 00:15:56.42\00:15:59.62 by the Word of God to defend their faith 00:15:59.65\00:16:02.37 with a, "thus saith the Lord." 00:16:02.40\00:16:04.09 That's why today, if you don't know what the Bible says, 00:16:05.07\00:16:07.05 you are of no value to the cause of God. 00:16:07.08\00:16:09.69 You've got to store it in your mind, because the day is 00:16:10.21\00:16:11.84 going to come when this book will not be with you. 00:16:11.87\00:16:14.56 And the Lord has promised He will bring back to our minds 00:16:14.59\00:16:18.56 those very things that we have learned. 00:16:18.59\00:16:21.28 He will fill our hearts with those things that 00:16:21.31\00:16:23.55 we have stored there. 00:16:23.58\00:16:25.00 You can't get money out of the bank if you 00:16:25.46\00:16:27.01 haven't put it there. 00:16:27.04\00:16:28.07 And the Word of God can't come back unless 00:16:28.38\00:16:29.95 you've stored it there. 00:16:29.96\00:16:31.19 This is the hour, this is the time. 00:16:31.54\00:16:33.66 The times of peace and prosperity. 00:16:33.69\00:16:35.70 That's why Satan works so hard to keep us busy with 00:16:35.71\00:16:38.01 things that do not pertain to studying the Bible. 00:16:38.04\00:16:40.72 You can't cram for a final exam in one day. 00:16:41.00\00:16:44.43 And you can't cram for the final spiritual exam 00:16:44.46\00:16:47.65 unless we begin by studying the Word of God now. 00:16:47.68\00:16:50.22 These three men stood up together. 00:16:50.25\00:16:53.32 Here's a picture of these reformers; 00:16:53.33\00:16:55.06 Martin Luther, John Calvin, and Philip Melanchthon. 00:16:55.09\00:16:59.33 Obviously, these were artist conceptions because they 00:16:59.81\00:17:02.99 didn't have cameras back then. 00:17:03.00\00:17:04.19 But you'll notice that these men were dressed in the 00:17:04.21\00:17:06.99 garb of their day. 00:17:07.02\00:17:08.42 But it was less about how they were dressed. 00:17:08.45\00:17:11.09 It was more about what fueled them. 00:17:11.12\00:17:13.36 These men were like the ancient reformers of Israel. 00:17:13.73\00:17:16.26 And there's a text in 1 Chronicles 12 and verse 32 00:17:16.29\00:17:19.08 that's really pertinent to any time in which God 00:17:19.11\00:17:21.56 calls us to stand firmly. 00:17:21.59\00:17:22.89 Look at what it says. 00:17:22.92\00:17:24.18 These men were likened unto the sons of Issachar. 00:17:25.90\00:17:29.69 Brothers and sisters, those joining us, we have to have 00:17:36.20\00:17:38.62 an understanding of the times to know what to do. 00:17:38.65\00:17:42.31 That's why Solomon says that we should redeem the time, 00:17:42.53\00:17:46.73 because the days are evil. 00:17:46.76\00:17:48.45 If you look at the world around you, everything is crumbling. 00:17:48.48\00:17:50.62 You don't try to put your roof on when you see 00:17:52.05\00:17:54.46 the rain clouds coming. 00:17:54.47\00:17:55.98 You do it while the sun is still shining. 00:17:56.01\00:17:58.74 God has given us days of peace to get ready before the 00:17:58.77\00:18:01.43 days of storms come. 00:18:01.46\00:18:03.10 And the storm is building on the horizon. 00:18:03.13\00:18:05.35 But it always begins as a subtle breeze. 00:18:05.38\00:18:07.81 But before you know it, the storm will be right upon us. 00:18:07.82\00:18:10.72 These are days that we have to understand the times 00:18:10.73\00:18:14.09 and know what we ought to do to prepare for the 00:18:14.12\00:18:17.28 trials that are ahead. 00:18:17.29\00:18:18.62 The Protestant Reformation began to spread like a storm 00:18:18.65\00:18:21.61 in northern Europe. 00:18:21.64\00:18:22.92 Every country, with the exception of Ireland and pockets 00:18:22.94\00:18:26.19 in Britain, to God's glory, they began to turn Protestant. 00:18:26.20\00:18:29.46 Do you know what that means? 00:18:29.47\00:18:30.47 They began to move back to the Bible. 00:18:30.48\00:18:32.01 Can somebody say amen. 00:18:32.04\00:18:33.19 Southern Europe remained Catholic, though. 00:18:33.73\00:18:37.08 Italy, Spain, Greece, Serbia, Portugal, Gibraltar, and Croatia 00:18:37.28\00:18:42.19 just to name a few. 00:18:42.20\00:18:43.47 There was a dividing line between the north and the south. 00:18:43.50\00:18:47.59 That's why there were constant wars in Central Europe. 00:18:47.62\00:18:53.01 Because those from the south sought to increase their 00:18:53.04\00:18:55.56 territory to the north and take back what Protestantism 00:18:55.59\00:18:58.50 had taken from them. 00:18:58.51\00:18:59.51 And Protestantism, pushing down, sought to take from Catholicism 00:18:59.54\00:19:03.65 what they had stolen from God. 00:19:03.68\00:19:05.65 Constant wars in Central Europe. 00:19:05.68\00:19:08.46 Here's a map of how the territories were divided. 00:19:08.49\00:19:11.02 You have Northern, Southern, Western, and Eastern Europe. 00:19:11.05\00:19:14.97 The colors are associated; blue for Northern, 00:19:15.00\00:19:17.29 green for Southern, lighter blue for Western, 00:19:17.32\00:19:20.85 and somewhat of a pink there for Eastern Europe. 00:19:20.88\00:19:24.56 That's how Europe was divided. 00:19:24.59\00:19:26.77 And the Bible predicted that it would be divided. 00:19:26.80\00:19:30.59 It said, because of the iron, it will never cleave. 00:19:32.17\00:19:36.63 The clay and the iron could never mix together. 00:19:36.66\00:19:39.24 And boy did they try to make Europe united. 00:19:39.27\00:19:42.19 But something you have to keep in mind, 00:19:42.22\00:19:43.72 understanding the times to know what to do. 00:19:43.73\00:19:45.58 Today, Europe is somewhat united. 00:19:45.61\00:19:48.81 United economically. 00:19:48.82\00:19:50.89 Not politically. 00:19:51.17\00:19:53.24 They are united under the Euro dollar. 00:19:53.27\00:19:56.04 They're seeking to establish what's called, a common market. 00:19:56.07\00:19:59.23 Because according to prophecy, they'll never 00:19:59.26\00:20:01.86 be united religiously. 00:20:01.89\00:20:04.08 And when God says never, He means never. 00:20:04.11\00:20:06.09 What do you say? 00:20:06.12\00:20:07.16 See, Babylon came down. 00:20:07.57\00:20:08.98 God said it would never rise again. 00:20:09.01\00:20:10.77 But now we have a spiritual Babylon that took its place. 00:20:11.07\00:20:14.83 The Roman Catholic Church launched what was called a 00:20:15.20\00:20:17.66 counter reformation because the wars were so fierce. 00:20:17.69\00:20:20.95 They could not defeat the Protestant reformers 00:20:20.98\00:20:23.64 based on the Bible because they couldn't gainsay what the 00:20:23.65\00:20:27.67 Bible had already taught. 00:20:27.68\00:20:28.98 You cannot fight against the sword of the Spirit 00:20:28.99\00:20:30.95 because it's two-edged. 00:20:30.96\00:20:31.99 It cuts up error no matter which way you throw it at the Bible. 00:20:32.02\00:20:35.18 Both ways they were succeeding. 00:20:35.69\00:20:37.75 And every Christian that was persecuted, 00:20:37.78\00:20:40.46 one drop of blood, history says... 00:20:40.49\00:20:42.75 Read Foxe's Book Of Martyrs, if you have a strong stomach. 00:20:42.78\00:20:45.59 But every Christian that died, two or three sprung up 00:20:47.02\00:20:49.58 in his or her place. 00:20:49.61\00:20:50.86 They could not stamp out the light of God. 00:20:51.16\00:20:52.80 And the blood of the saints became seed and catalysts 00:20:52.83\00:20:56.46 for the growth of truth in Europe. 00:20:56.49\00:20:59.51 And so, what did Rome do? 00:21:00.34\00:21:01.34 They launched a counter reformation. 00:21:01.37\00:21:03.29 The focus became art, music, literature, politics, science. 00:21:05.03\00:21:11.75 And then also, religious reformation. 00:21:11.78\00:21:15.87 If you look at what's happening today, the same paradigm shift 00:21:15.90\00:21:19.04 is taking place in the Christian world. 00:21:19.07\00:21:20.81 We focus more on the music. 00:21:20.84\00:21:22.40 And now our big push in religion is politics. 00:21:22.41\00:21:25.53 Why? 00:21:26.25\00:21:27.25 Because what Rome did in Europe, they are now including us in 00:21:27.35\00:21:31.90 here in America. 00:21:31.93\00:21:33.70 And so, how did Rome successfully catapult 00:21:34.51\00:21:36.87 the counter reformation? 00:21:36.90\00:21:39.89 From 1545 to 1563, Rome launched a counter reformation 00:21:40.41\00:21:46.27 and they established something called, the Council of Trent. 00:21:46.30\00:21:50.77 What did I say? The Council of Trent. 00:21:51.17\00:21:54.09 The Council of Trent met in the capital city of the 00:21:54.12\00:21:58.47 holy Roman Empire. 00:21:58.48\00:21:59.85 It's now simply called Italy. 00:21:59.86\00:22:02.22 Here's a picture of the Council of Trent as it met in session 00:22:02.25\00:22:05.93 in the Santa Maria Maggiore church. 00:22:05.94\00:22:09.74 Large contingency, all the leaders of the Roman world 00:22:09.77\00:22:14.13 gathering together. 00:22:14.16\00:22:15.30 And the purpose of their gathering was, 00:22:15.33\00:22:17.65 "What do we do with these Protestant reformers? 00:22:17.68\00:22:20.06 How do we quiet them? 00:22:20.09\00:22:21.80 How can we strengthen our efforts to block out 00:22:21.83\00:22:25.38 and stop the progress of the Bible?" 00:22:25.39\00:22:27.31 As a matter of fact, in the Latin, "Concilium Tridentinum" 00:22:27.61\00:22:31.52 simply means, or the "Council of Trent" in Latin means, 00:22:31.55\00:22:34.99 an ecumenical movement. 00:22:35.02\00:22:37.70 The word "ecumenical" is the Greek word 00:22:37.71\00:22:39.87 for the inhabited world. 00:22:39.90\00:22:41.40 And the word "catholic" is the Greek word for "universal". 00:22:41.43\00:22:45.32 So here you have the Catholic universal church 00:22:45.35\00:22:49.19 getting together with an ecumenical, a worldwide agenda. 00:22:49.20\00:22:53.26 Pushing it and structuring it through the Council of Trent. 00:22:54.04\00:22:58.23 But is this a surprise to God? 00:22:58.26\00:23:00.46 Not at all. 00:23:00.49\00:23:01.68 Look at Daniel 7 and verse 23. 00:23:01.71\00:23:03.70 The Bible predicted the rise of the power of Rome. 00:23:03.73\00:23:07.44 Here's what the Bible says. 00:23:07.47\00:23:08.93 Daniel 7 verse 23. 00:23:09.52\00:23:11.25 The iron kingdom of Rome. 00:23:29.38\00:23:30.88 The iron kingdom. 00:23:31.51\00:23:32.57 What made it different was, it was a religio-political system. 00:23:32.60\00:23:37.10 And today, it is still a religio-political system. 00:23:37.13\00:23:42.24 Today, it's regaining its strength and momentum 00:23:43.21\00:23:46.77 that it once had during the dark ages. 00:23:46.78\00:23:49.49 The topic of the Council of Trent was Protestantism 00:23:49.79\00:23:52.87 and the counter reformation. 00:23:52.90\00:23:54.25 You had two churches. 00:23:54.28\00:23:55.64 One pushing in the direction of the Bible, 00:23:55.67\00:23:58.37 the other one bolstering its strength in the 00:23:58.40\00:24:01.89 direction of tradition. 00:24:01.90\00:24:04.14 But the challenge for Rome was; how do you attack and win 00:24:04.17\00:24:09.22 when your sword is non-scriptural? 00:24:09.25\00:24:11.71 They couldn't do it. 00:24:12.79\00:24:13.86 They had to find a way to at least strengthen their arsenal 00:24:13.89\00:24:17.64 against the Protestant reformers. 00:24:17.65\00:24:19.32 But they couldn't do it if they chose the same sword. 00:24:19.35\00:24:22.79 Let me make a point here. 00:24:23.32\00:24:24.40 I remember once preaching and teaching when I was up in 00:24:24.43\00:24:26.98 northern California and I had a Revelation seminar. 00:24:27.01\00:24:29.34 I talked about that a few nights ago. 00:24:29.35\00:24:30.75 And when I began my Revelation seminar, all of sudden, 00:24:31.26\00:24:33.98 all the other churches in town about a week later 00:24:34.01\00:24:36.04 began to have prophecy seminars just to counteract 00:24:36.07\00:24:38.94 my Revelation seminar. 00:24:39.34\00:24:40.75 I got a letter from a pastor whose member was very 00:24:41.04\00:24:44.43 disgruntled that she was learning truth. 00:24:44.46\00:24:46.82 And so he wrote me a letter. 00:24:47.03\00:24:48.51 And I still have it in my possession to this very day. 00:24:48.54\00:24:50.97 The letter had the following content: 00:24:51.75\00:24:54.95 "I have my scriptures and you have yours." 00:24:57.80\00:25:01.53 I wrote him back, "I don't have any scriptures, 00:25:04.51\00:25:07.03 and neither do you. 00:25:07.06\00:25:08.29 And the Bible does not back up two opposing views." 00:25:08.32\00:25:12.99 But he also said something like the Roman church would have said 00:25:13.44\00:25:16.11 during the dark ages. 00:25:16.14\00:25:17.18 He said to me, "For the sake of your church and our community, 00:25:17.19\00:25:20.14 please reconsider your position." 00:25:20.17\00:25:21.71 I took that as a threat. I'm from New York City. 00:25:21.74\00:25:24.04 That sounded like fighting words. 00:25:24.60\00:25:25.82 So I made an appointment to meet with him. 00:25:25.85\00:25:27.47 And I waited until he came back from his 00:25:28.25\00:25:29.85 missionary trips in Africa. 00:25:29.88\00:25:30.97 And I was there sitting in his office when he came in that day. 00:25:31.00\00:25:33.36 And I had a very respectful conversation with him. 00:25:33.83\00:25:36.88 I challenged him, if he didn't like what I was teaching, 00:25:36.91\00:25:40.19 I said, "Let's meet in your church. 00:25:40.22\00:25:41.79 Let's have a meeting in your church. 00:25:41.82\00:25:44.17 Let them ask me questions and let them ask you questions, 00:25:44.20\00:25:46.81 and let us both answer from the Bible." 00:25:46.84\00:25:48.48 Well I can guarantee you he said "no." 00:25:49.26\00:25:51.72 And then I said to him, respectfully but very straight, 00:25:54.20\00:25:57.01 "So therefore, I'm going to continue to preach and teach 00:25:57.90\00:26:00.64 what I'm preaching and teaching. 00:26:00.67\00:26:02.03 Don't every threaten me again." 00:26:02.06\00:26:04.19 And I walked out hoping there was nothing pointing at my back. 00:26:04.56\00:26:08.01 Because he was a very powerful man, the largest church in town. 00:26:09.26\00:26:11.74 Matter of fact, the lady that he was tormenting, 00:26:11.97\00:26:13.64 a lady that was up in years, she held the purse strings 00:26:13.67\00:26:17.90 for the building of that new church facility. 00:26:17.93\00:26:20.23 And the pastor and her son and other church members 00:26:20.24\00:26:22.38 pressured her into not accepting the truth. 00:26:22.41\00:26:24.39 And I said, "Lord, she's in your hand. 00:26:24.42\00:26:26.22 I'm not requiring anything of her." 00:26:26.23\00:26:27.90 I knew where her heart was, and so did the Lord. 00:26:27.93\00:26:30.16 But they refused to allow her to attend that church, our church, 00:26:30.17\00:26:32.94 because she had the money that was going to be the catalyst 00:26:32.97\00:26:35.71 for building their new church. 00:26:35.74\00:26:37.38 Well friends, when it comes to truth, money means 00:26:37.68\00:26:39.35 absolutely nothing. 00:26:39.38\00:26:40.46 I'd rather lose all my money and live for the truth 00:26:40.95\00:26:44.27 and have eternal life. 00:26:44.30\00:26:45.42 What do you say? 00:26:45.45\00:26:46.59 They did not know how to fight against 00:26:46.62\00:26:48.51 the Protestant reformers. 00:26:48.54\00:26:49.76 And so they began to do something. 00:26:49.79\00:26:51.62 And they began to shift from what the 00:26:51.72\00:26:53.28 Bible says to tradition. 00:26:53.29\00:26:58.08 They began to persecute men whose sole purpose 00:26:58.88\00:27:01.60 was to put the Bible back into the hands of common man. 00:27:01.61\00:27:05.13 And the Bible also predicted the ruthlessness of Rome. 00:27:05.16\00:27:08.20 Daniel 7 verse 7, notice what it says, again. 00:27:08.21\00:27:10.81 That's how God describes the power that embraced 00:27:21.37\00:27:25.64 the world through Rome. 00:27:25.67\00:27:27.02 And when you follow history, you find the ten nations of Europe. 00:27:44.62\00:27:47.52 The three that opposed Rome; the Vandals, the Heruli, 00:27:47.82\00:27:50.79 and the Visigoths. 00:27:50.82\00:27:52.22 And Rome methodically brought them down. 00:27:53.13\00:27:55.17 And when Rome brought down the very last power that opposed it, 00:27:55.20\00:27:58.69 Rome began an uninterrupted unobstructed reign 00:27:58.72\00:28:02.04 from 538 to 1798, when the dark ages were officially launched. 00:28:02.07\00:28:07.49 And the Bible predicted that also. 00:28:07.96\00:28:09.64 It said that Rome would persecute the saints of the 00:28:09.89\00:28:12.25 Most High for a time, times, and dividing of time. 00:28:12.28\00:28:15.12 1260 years Rome reigned almost unchallenged. 00:28:15.46\00:28:19.27 But all of a sudden in the midst of their reign, here comes men 00:28:19.46\00:28:22.07 that said, "Hey, it's time to get back to the Bible." 00:28:22.08\00:28:24.27 Brothers and sisters, it's time to get back to the Bible. 00:28:24.28\00:28:26.78 They couldn't stop the roll, they couldn't stop the rain. 00:28:27.51\00:28:30.43 But look what they did. 00:28:30.46\00:28:31.64 The Council of Trent was determined. 00:28:31.67\00:28:33.42 Iron kingdom. 00:28:33.45\00:28:34.61 All roads, as history said, led to Rome. 00:28:34.97\00:28:38.24 Every king had to bow to the authority of Rome. 00:28:38.25\00:28:40.99 But look what the Council of Trent did. 00:28:41.29\00:28:43.26 The Council of Trent, when they met from 1559 to 1563, 00:28:44.64\00:28:49.20 they wrote the following words. 00:28:49.23\00:28:51.04 They began to exalt tradition up to the standard 00:29:05.92\00:29:11.41 of the Scripture. 00:29:11.42\00:29:12.92 Look at the very next slide and you'll notice, 00:29:12.95\00:29:15.14 Roman Catholicism, how they developed their teaching. 00:29:15.15\00:29:17.97 Roman Catholicism's doctrinal formation was 00:29:18.00\00:29:20.82 sacred scripture and sacred tradition. 00:29:20.85\00:29:24.32 In other words, they determined what, in tradition, was sacred. 00:29:24.52\00:29:28.65 When you follow the history, they began to borrow 00:29:29.08\00:29:32.56 from the history of the kings before them, 00:29:32.59\00:29:34.93 the Roman Emperors before them; like Roman Emperor Justinian, 00:29:34.96\00:29:38.73 Roman Emperor Constantine. 00:29:38.76\00:29:40.43 In 168 AD, the first Sunday law was issued. 00:29:41.75\00:29:44.87 But it was not a law in the sense that everybody had to 00:29:44.90\00:29:47.49 keep it under penalty of death. 00:29:47.50\00:29:48.89 Then in 321 AD, May 321 AD, another Sunday law was passed. 00:29:48.92\00:29:54.64 But those were not the Sunday laws that made it an issue 00:29:56.50\00:29:59.97 for the world in the sense of whether or not 00:30:00.00\00:30:02.23 your life was on the line. 00:30:02.26\00:30:03.80 But Rome re-enforced itself during the dark ages. 00:30:04.85\00:30:07.58 Here's how the Protestants established their teachings. 00:30:07.61\00:30:10.02 The Protestants stood up and said to the Roman government... 00:30:10.05\00:30:12.57 Look at this slide. 00:30:12.60\00:30:13.73 ...sola scriptura, the Bible and the Bible only. 00:30:15.05\00:30:23.74 The Bible and the Bible only. 00:30:23.77\00:30:25.89 How do you fight somebody with the Bible by using the Bible? 00:30:25.92\00:30:29.93 They couldn't do it. 00:30:29.96\00:30:31.03 That's why I appreciate what Ellen White says. 00:30:31.27\00:30:33.06 A lot of people misunderstand her place 00:30:33.09\00:30:34.77 in the Adventist church. 00:30:34.80\00:30:35.97 But listen to what she says about this very same 00:30:36.00\00:30:38.77 Protestant creed in the book, The Great Controversy, 00:30:38.80\00:30:41.33 the 1888 edition, page 205. 00:30:41.36\00:30:43.61 Listen to what she says, speaking about the Bible. 00:30:43.62\00:30:45.31 That's what we are. 00:31:10.83\00:31:11.90 If you're a Protestant, your creed is the Bible 00:31:11.93\00:31:14.88 and the Bible only. 00:31:14.89\00:31:15.96 But you're finding today that what's being taught in 00:31:15.99\00:31:18.06 Protestantism is not really Protestant at all. 00:31:18.09\00:31:21.46 What's really being taught in Protestantism 00:31:21.47\00:31:23.11 is baptized paganism to a great degree, 00:31:23.14\00:31:25.52 and refurbished Catholicism. 00:31:25.55\00:31:27.80 The lines have been dimmed. 00:31:28.80\00:31:30.87 Rome made sure that the Protestant reformers 00:31:30.90\00:31:34.20 did not get the Bibles in the hands of the common man 00:31:34.23\00:31:37.19 without opposing them, without instilling persecution. 00:31:37.22\00:31:40.47 But something happened very significant going many years 00:31:40.94\00:31:44.77 forward in the 1900's. 00:31:44.80\00:31:46.54 Two particular popes. 00:31:46.57\00:31:48.57 Here's the pictures of both of them. 00:31:48.60\00:31:50.38 Pope John Paul XXIII and Pope Paul VI. 00:31:50.41\00:31:55.86 They both said: 00:31:56.53\00:31:57.60 Notice, from 1881 to 1963 and from 1897 to 1978. 00:32:09.68\00:32:14.30 These men both met similar to each other. 00:32:14.33\00:32:17.81 One followed the other. 00:32:17.84\00:32:19.73 The first Pope that called for the second council 00:32:20.34\00:32:25.59 died before the council was held. 00:32:26.95\00:32:29.08 Taken up by the Pope that followed him. 00:32:30.19\00:32:32.11 And they both said, what the church did during the 1500's 00:32:32.64\00:32:36.56 still exists to the very day. 00:32:36.59\00:32:40.65 What actually is that? 00:32:40.68\00:32:42.16 What did the church do that continues to exist 00:32:42.19\00:32:44.91 to the very day. 00:32:44.94\00:32:46.30 Listen to what the Council of Trent did. 00:32:46.33\00:32:48.54 The Catechism of the Council of Trent, page 402. 00:32:50.11\00:32:54.34 The Council of Trent did that. 00:33:06.10\00:33:07.51 So when these two popes in our modern time 00:33:07.52\00:33:09.90 said that the Council of Trent still exists in our modern era, 00:33:09.93\00:33:13.27 and the principles continue to be proliferated, 00:33:13.30\00:33:15.39 they're saying, what they did then 00:33:15.42\00:33:17.13 we still see it existing today. 00:33:17.16\00:33:18.87 But let's continue. 00:33:18.90\00:33:19.93 That's what the Council of Trent did in 1566. 00:33:48.62\00:33:52.51 Well let's continue, because when this came up 00:33:52.54\00:33:54.56 the challenge came to Rome, "How could you do that? 00:33:54.59\00:33:57.87 How and where do you get the authority from?" 00:33:57.88\00:34:00.12 And look at the question. 00:34:00.62\00:34:01.73 The questioning to Rome continued. 00:34:41.47\00:34:43.30 And by the way, the references are sometimes almost as long 00:34:51.96\00:34:54.64 as the quote itself. 00:34:54.67\00:34:55.85 But I put it there just so you know that it's not something 00:34:56.25\00:34:58.88 that was arbitrarily put together, but it exists 00:34:58.91\00:35:01.48 in actual writing. 00:35:01.51\00:35:03.15 Have you ever played hide and seek before? 00:35:22.44\00:35:24.02 Trying to find people where they're not really hiding? 00:35:25.53\00:35:27.64 Many Protestant leaders are trying to find in the Bible 00:35:29.88\00:35:32.67 what is not really there? 00:35:32.70\00:35:35.05 Trying to find foundation... 00:35:35.63\00:35:37.19 That's why I was so thankful... 00:35:37.20\00:35:38.20 I'm glad I heard Shelley's voice. 00:35:38.21\00:35:39.47 I was so thankful that God moved upon Shelley and Danny Shelton 00:35:39.50\00:35:41.90 to put together that book, The Commandments Twice Removed. 00:35:41.91\00:35:44.49 Five million copies went out. 00:35:44.52\00:35:45.97 Five million copies sowing seeds of truth, 00:35:46.00\00:35:48.54 harvesting a kingdom for the coming of our Lord. 00:35:48.57\00:35:51.04 Because this is a message, though hard to hear, 00:35:52.75\00:35:55.40 must be heard. 00:35:55.43\00:35:57.08 Because this is the foundation of truth. 00:35:57.88\00:35:59.68 Listen to what Rome continues to say. 00:36:00.50\00:36:02.69 And I'm so glad, because the Protestant leaders that are 00:36:03.05\00:36:05.13 trying to find it in the Bible... 00:36:05.14\00:36:06.33 There are only, by the way, twelve references 00:36:06.36\00:36:08.35 in the New Testament to the first day of the week. 00:36:08.38\00:36:09.82 Only twelve. 00:36:09.83\00:36:11.60 Eight of them have to do with the resurrection. 00:36:11.63\00:36:13.43 So they only have four shots to find the sanctity of Sunday 00:36:13.87\00:36:18.21 in the New Testament. 00:36:18.24\00:36:19.41 And listen to what Rome says when the Protestant leaders 00:36:19.42\00:36:22.32 try to find it, here's what Rome says. 00:36:22.35\00:36:24.22 That's what Rome says, "We never sanctify that day." 00:36:43.76\00:36:45.58 God sanctified the Day. 00:36:46.90\00:36:48.61 By the way, you can't sanctify what God never sanctified. 00:36:50.60\00:36:53.02 You can't make holy what God never made holy. 00:36:53.05\00:36:55.05 Let me use another example. 00:36:55.06\00:36:56.23 Living together does not sanctify your relationship 00:36:56.26\00:36:59.39 into a marriage in God's sight. 00:36:59.42\00:37:01.10 The churches living together. 00:37:02.32\00:37:03.64 Error, darkness; living together. 00:37:03.74\00:37:07.28 God never sanctified that connection. 00:37:07.31\00:37:09.16 Therefore, it is not accepted by God. 00:37:09.19\00:37:11.71 They continue. 00:37:12.05\00:37:13.22 Look at the next small quotation. 00:37:13.25\00:37:15.28 That's exactly how they put the brackets there. 00:37:26.71\00:37:29.04 That's the homage they pay. 00:37:29.44\00:37:30.65 So when a Protestant leader says he denies the authority, 00:37:30.68\00:37:35.65 or is repulsed by what Rome teaches, 00:37:35.68\00:37:38.29 Rome says, "So where did you get Sunday from? 00:37:38.32\00:37:40.77 So on what authority do you honor the day we set up? 00:37:42.75\00:37:45.75 Huh, come on tell me?" 00:37:45.78\00:37:47.05 They can't find it. 00:37:49.04\00:37:50.40 I remember when I was part of a pastoral council there in 00:37:51.90\00:37:55.66 northern California, I remember very well. 00:37:55.69\00:37:57.45 The Catholic priest was ostracized from attending it 00:37:57.96\00:38:01.56 because the Protestant pastors said, "We don't want to be 00:38:01.57\00:38:04.68 associated at all with the Catholic priest." 00:38:04.71\00:38:06.48 But he was my good friend. 00:38:06.51\00:38:07.82 Pastor John Lawrence, the Catholic priest. 00:38:08.22\00:38:09.91 I would go visit him all the time, he had lunch together, 00:38:09.94\00:38:11.64 we laughed together. 00:38:11.65\00:38:12.65 Matter of fact, when the Adventist book mobile 00:38:12.66\00:38:14.15 came through, he would buy books like the Bible commentaries 00:38:14.22\00:38:17.20 and the entire Conflict series. 00:38:17.23\00:38:18.94 And I said to this Catholic pastor, I said, "Wait a minute. 00:38:18.97\00:38:23.09 Why are you buying all those books?" 00:38:23.12\00:38:24.26 And here's what he said, and I appreciate this so much, 00:38:24.29\00:38:26.37 he said, "I am reading your books so that when anybody 00:38:26.40\00:38:30.81 ask me what you believe, I can show them from what you write." 00:38:30.82\00:38:34.03 They never allowed him to be a part of the council, 00:38:38.45\00:38:40.32 but we still had a friendship, we still visited together, 00:38:40.35\00:38:42.38 we still laughed together. 00:38:42.39\00:38:43.42 And whenever he began his Revelation seminar 00:38:44.17\00:38:47.00 to counteract mine, I visited him and I said, 00:38:47.03\00:38:48.53 "Now what's your position on Revelation?" 00:38:48.56\00:38:50.01 And he put his finger on his lip and he said, 00:38:50.04\00:38:51.68 "Actually, I don't have one." 00:38:51.71\00:38:53.20 He just held the meetings to keep people away from mine. 00:38:54.20\00:38:56.60 But the Lord said that this would occur. 00:38:58.34\00:39:00.03 Daniel 7 verse 25. 00:39:00.06\00:39:03.88 Speaking of Rome, the Lord says: 00:39:03.91\00:39:05.89 In other words, you ever see a kid try to hide from an adult? 00:39:23.80\00:39:27.12 They hide like this. 00:39:27.15\00:39:28.59 They figure if they cover their eyes, you can't see them. 00:39:30.65\00:39:32.91 Like many of us when we were growing up, you know, 00:39:33.41\00:39:35.09 we figure by pulling the blanket over, 00:39:35.10\00:39:36.89 the boogie man can't see us. 00:39:36.90\00:39:38.75 Remember that when you were young? 00:39:38.78\00:39:40.05 Afraid of the dark. 00:39:40.08\00:39:41.07 And so they pull the blanket over. 00:39:41.92\00:39:43.18 And so all of a sudden, they think the blanket 00:39:43.21\00:39:44.38 is an invisible shield. 00:39:44.41\00:39:45.83 Well, there are those who have put their own hands 00:39:46.13\00:39:48.07 over their eyes and they believe by blinding themselves 00:39:48.10\00:39:50.98 they have blinded God. 00:39:51.01\00:39:52.30 But God said, "Ah, you think you've changed it." 00:39:52.33\00:39:54.71 But the things that they've changed, they've altered the 00:39:54.74\00:39:57.18 commandments of God. 00:39:57.21\00:39:58.23 When you read the Catholic version of the ten commandments, 00:39:58.26\00:40:01.08 they have taken out the commandment forbidding 00:40:01.11\00:40:03.24 image worship and put the fourth commandment 00:40:03.27\00:40:05.81 into the third spot. 00:40:05.84\00:40:07.51 And they broke the tenth commandment into two 00:40:08.12\00:40:10.74 to make up the gap. 00:40:10.77\00:40:12.04 But they only, as far as God is concerned, they just thought 00:40:13.78\00:40:17.19 that they changed times and laws. 00:40:17.20\00:40:19.18 The sad reality is, men have accepted what they did 00:40:19.21\00:40:21.98 over what God has done. 00:40:22.01\00:40:23.47 But how could they do that unless they felt they 00:40:25.38\00:40:27.22 had some kind of authority. 00:40:27.23\00:40:28.28 Listen to what they say they believe they have. 00:40:28.31\00:40:30.13 The next quotation reads as follows. 00:40:31.16\00:40:33.24 In other words, he is, as it were, God on earth. 00:40:52.77\00:40:55.69 I would say, "Nay, nay." 00:40:55.72\00:40:57.98 God is God in heaven, and God is God on earth. 00:40:59.14\00:41:01.69 Can you say amen. 00:41:01.72\00:41:02.79 But you have to remember that Martin Luther 00:41:03.62\00:41:05.30 ignited the Protestant Reformation. 00:41:05.33\00:41:06.93 Martin Luther was labeled as a Protestant heretic. 00:41:06.96\00:41:10.06 And Rome never denounced its error. 00:41:10.09\00:41:13.32 But the first two denominations that were formed out of the 00:41:14.26\00:41:16.50 Protestant Reformation were the Lutherans and the Anglicans. 00:41:16.53\00:41:20.32 And Pope John Paul, before his death, appealed to 00:41:20.93\00:41:24.64 both of these congregations, both of these denominations, 00:41:24.67\00:41:28.22 to reunite under the authority of Rome, 00:41:28.25\00:41:30.99 under the authority of Rome. 00:41:31.67\00:41:32.67 Look at this slide right here very quickly. 00:41:32.70\00:41:34.14 This is a slide, I got this back in 1980. 00:41:34.95\00:41:38.16 I'm going to try to read that. 00:41:41.55\00:41:42.57 In that particular article, Pope John Paul II 00:41:55.10\00:41:57.98 calls Martin Luther a "German rebel theologian." 00:41:58.01\00:42:02.46 A rebel? What did he do? 00:42:02.49\00:42:04.10 He just simply brought the Bible back to the hand of the people. 00:42:04.13\00:42:06.29 A rebel? 00:42:06.32\00:42:07.33 Because it unveiled Rome's intent. 00:42:07.36\00:42:09.89 But he comes now as the spiritual 00:42:09.92\00:42:12.70 inheritant of Martin Luther. 00:42:12.73\00:42:13.85 In other words, you know, "I'm coming in his place now. 00:42:13.88\00:42:16.59 So since I'm coming in his place, accept me 00:42:16.62\00:42:20.45 and let's unify ourselves together again." 00:42:20.46\00:42:22.83 But that's not all. Look at the next slide. 00:42:23.34\00:42:25.27 The New York Post. 00:42:25.85\00:42:27.06 The next article points out very clearly what they mean 00:42:49.06\00:42:52.14 by "new relationship." 00:42:52.17\00:42:53.44 How did the Anglicans respond to that? 00:42:53.47\00:42:55.48 What exactly does that mean? 00:43:04.12\00:43:05.39 Look at the next article. 00:43:05.42\00:43:06.76 That was the year 2007. 00:43:55.06\00:43:56.73 And they got their 42 page document together. 00:43:56.76\00:43:59.64 And friends, would you know it, they signed on the dotted line. 00:44:00.42\00:44:05.02 "Let's get back together. 00:44:05.05\00:44:06.79 Not on the basis of the fact that we now embrace 00:44:07.21\00:44:09.70 the Bible together. 00:44:09.73\00:44:10.79 But now tradition seems more convenient to me now that 00:44:11.25\00:44:14.86 our reforming leaders have now passed away and are asleep." 00:44:14.89\00:44:19.21 But what does Ellen White say about this? 00:44:20.03\00:44:21.36 Where is it all headed? 00:44:21.37\00:44:22.37 Look at The Great Controversy, page 542, the 1888 edition. 00:44:22.38\00:44:29.98 She says: 00:44:31.37\00:44:32.39 So the question is, what is Rome urging Americans to do? 00:45:00.60\00:45:04.83 And by the way, let me just say this. 00:45:06.69\00:45:07.99 I stand here today like Martin Luther, like John Calvin, 00:45:08.02\00:45:12.33 like Philip Melanchthon; a Protestant who still believes 00:45:14.59\00:45:18.98 that the only rule of faith in practice is 00:45:19.01\00:45:21.10 God's word, not tradition. 00:45:21.13\00:45:22.71 I stand here as a reformer in 2011 00:45:24.72\00:45:27.89 carrying the torch of truth. 00:45:28.37\00:45:30.08 Not my truth, but God's truth. 00:45:30.95\00:45:33.35 And I humbly deal with it because there are souls 00:45:34.20\00:45:36.49 watching and listening that are yet to be snatched out 00:45:36.52\00:45:39.97 of the jaws of error and darkness. 00:45:40.00\00:45:42.04 There is space in the kingdom for those who want to follow 00:45:42.07\00:45:45.22 the Lord and accept His truths. 00:45:45.23\00:45:47.67 The more recent pope, Pope Benedict, 00:45:47.70\00:45:49.93 made a powerful move. 00:45:49.96\00:45:51.85 Look at this next slide. 00:45:51.86\00:45:53.50 Look at the actual article as it reads. 00:46:00.53\00:46:02.58 That's what is happening today. 00:47:21.69\00:47:22.87 And American leaders in the midst of this fragile economy 00:47:23.27\00:47:25.88 are listening to the voice of Rome. 00:47:25.91\00:47:27.59 I'll show you this afternoon, Rome says there's a need 00:47:27.62\00:47:30.57 for a leadership in America and in the world 00:47:30.60\00:47:33.97 that have real teeth. 00:47:34.00\00:47:36.44 Could he mean iron teeth? 00:47:36.47\00:47:38.57 And he's asking the United States government 00:47:40.41\00:47:43.17 and the leaders of the G8 Summit and the G20 to give him that 00:47:43.20\00:47:46.69 power so that he can reign in all the problems of our world; 00:47:46.70\00:47:50.25 financial, economic, global, whether it's ozone, co2 levels, 00:47:50.28\00:47:56.29 global warming, you name it. 00:47:56.32\00:47:57.36 He says, "I can fix it, but you have got to give me the power 00:47:57.39\00:48:00.01 to make the decisions for the world." 00:48:00.53\00:48:02.19 It's coming together very quickly, because Rome is 00:48:02.79\00:48:05.34 urging Sunday as a national day in America. 00:48:05.35\00:48:08.89 All you've got to do is look around 00:48:09.29\00:48:10.77 and you begin to see a lot of stores closing. 00:48:10.80\00:48:12.80 And they list the reasons on their store windows 00:48:13.85\00:48:16.43 as to why the close. 00:48:16.46\00:48:17.71 "Because we honor Sunday as the holy day." 00:48:17.74\00:48:20.01 You can't make holy what God never made holy. 00:48:21.41\00:48:23.70 You can stay home on Sunday, like many of us, and rest. 00:48:23.73\00:48:28.26 But it's not a day that God sanctified. 00:48:28.29\00:48:30.76 You may see that the final apostasy also answers the 00:48:31.40\00:48:33.94 question, what is the seventh system of the final coalition. 00:48:33.97\00:48:37.39 The answer to both is apostate Protestantism. 00:48:37.42\00:48:43.36 Why apostate? 00:48:44.66\00:48:45.91 Protestantism is already in an apostate condition. 00:48:45.94\00:48:48.81 But right now, there are many sincere Christians that 00:48:48.84\00:48:51.67 go to church in every denomination. 00:48:51.68\00:48:53.71 Somebody ought to say amen. 00:48:53.74\00:48:54.89 Some of you are here. 00:48:55.46\00:48:56.62 Some of you came here because you heard God calling you out 00:48:56.65\00:48:59.41 and you responded to the truth of God's word, 00:48:59.44\00:49:01.80 to the voice of God's word. 00:49:01.83\00:49:02.97 You responded knowing that we are living in the last days. 00:49:02.98\00:49:06.16 And when you begin to see this, as I get to the message on 00:49:06.19\00:49:08.56 the final act, or the last act, I will show the progress 00:49:08.59\00:49:11.85 already made in America to create a bond between 00:49:11.86\00:49:14.09 Rome and the Protestant Americans. 00:49:14.12\00:49:15.51 The leaders in the churches of America, 00:49:16.17\00:49:18.28 these mega and giga churches, they do it through 00:49:18.38\00:49:20.41 all these coalitions. 00:49:20.44\00:49:21.76 First was the Christian coalition. 00:49:21.79\00:49:24.88 Before that, one led out by Jerry Falwell. 00:49:24.91\00:49:28.66 When he passed away, they took on a different leadership, 00:49:28.69\00:49:31.67 a different name. 00:49:31.68\00:49:32.68 And all these mega movements, all these firm strong political 00:49:32.69\00:49:36.06 movements, even under Pat Robertson. 00:49:36.09\00:49:38.13 Matter of fact, a few years ago the IRS yanked away his 00:49:38.16\00:49:40.84 501c3 status because they said, in 1996 Pat Robertson, 00:49:40.87\00:49:45.29 with his organizations in 49 different states, 00:49:45.32\00:49:48.38 sent out 40 million flyers to churches telling them 00:49:49.74\00:49:53.11 who to vote for in the election. 00:49:53.14\00:49:54.52 And they said, "That's a violation. 00:49:55.01\00:49:56.46 You cannot tell the state, you cannot tell its 00:49:56.49\00:49:58.53 citizens how to vote. 00:49:58.54\00:49:59.54 That's a violation of your status." 00:49:59.55\00:50:01.02 It took them a year to get that back. 00:50:01.05\00:50:02.63 But that's what is happening in America. 00:50:04.84\00:50:06.49 And what are they saying? 00:50:06.52\00:50:07.56 If they can create the largest voting bloc, 00:50:07.59\00:50:09.46 they can control America. 00:50:09.49\00:50:10.80 And thus control the destiny of the world. 00:50:10.83\00:50:13.24 Because when America sneezes, the rest of the world 00:50:13.27\00:50:15.71 catches a cold. 00:50:15.74\00:50:16.95 That's why when President Reagan sent an ambassador to the 00:50:19.18\00:50:22.77 Vatican, TIME magazine had the article, 00:50:22.80\00:50:25.42 "Unholy Alliance." 00:50:25.45\00:50:27.67 Against the constitution of the United States, 00:50:28.40\00:50:30.66 against our Bill Of Rights; 00:50:30.69\00:50:32.18 establishing a political leader to a holy organization 00:50:32.21\00:50:36.84 when our Constitution strictly says, our Bill Of Rights 00:50:36.87\00:50:39.23 strictly says, "We shall make no laws in respect 00:50:39.26\00:50:42.01 to religious or the free exercise thereof." 00:50:42.02\00:50:45.27 But Rome says they have the answer. 00:50:45.82\00:50:47.38 And Protestant America will be the system to unite us 00:50:48.23\00:50:53.31 under the tyranny of Rome. 00:50:53.34\00:50:55.28 The question is, is Protestant America protesting 00:50:56.23\00:50:58.68 anything anymore? 00:50:58.69\00:50:59.68 Absolutely not. 00:50:59.71\00:51:01.52 Listen to this quotation from the book, Signs Of The Times, 00:51:01.55\00:51:06.49 to answer the question, what is the final apostasy? 00:51:07.75\00:51:12.26 Where are we today? 00:52:01.44\00:52:02.68 We are on the brink of national apostasy, 00:52:03.01\00:52:06.05 to be followed closely on the heals by national ruin. 00:52:06.08\00:52:11.11 I know what I've said here today has probably rattled 00:52:11.89\00:52:13.81 some people's cages. 00:52:13.82\00:52:14.82 And they're probably swallowing right now and drinking water 00:52:14.83\00:52:17.37 and trying to get their composure. 00:52:17.40\00:52:19.22 But let me just say this. 00:52:19.25\00:52:20.66 I said it not with the intent of hurting anybody. 00:52:20.69\00:52:23.53 But with the intent just like I would, I'd bang your door down 00:52:23.54\00:52:26.82 if your house was on fire. 00:52:26.85\00:52:28.32 There are sincere Christians watching this program 00:52:29.14\00:52:31.53 that will get up tomorrow morning and go to the 00:52:34.01\00:52:35.91 church of their choice. 00:52:35.94\00:52:37.24 I have no problem with that at all. 00:52:37.27\00:52:39.70 But this is the day and age where God is saying, 00:52:41.79\00:52:44.34 if this book is your map, it's time to get back to the Bible. 00:52:46.39\00:52:52.35 If your destination is important, it's time to 00:52:53.46\00:52:56.76 get back to the instructions in the road map 00:52:56.79\00:53:00.20 from this world to the world that the Lord is preparing 00:53:00.23\00:53:04.59 for everyone of us. 00:53:04.62\00:53:05.98 We're living in a crisis hour. 00:53:06.36\00:53:08.07 Everything that we have trusted in is crumbling around us. 00:53:08.10\00:53:11.22 You can't trust politicians. 00:53:11.25\00:53:13.01 That's why every time I see a debate going on, 00:53:13.02\00:53:14.82 I say, just another debate. 00:53:14.85\00:53:16.46 Because the answers are not in Washington. 00:53:16.47\00:53:18.85 The answers are in the Lord Jesus Christ. 00:53:18.88\00:53:21.17 If we're looking for a secure foundation, the Lord says it, 00:53:22.32\00:53:25.21 there is no other foundation that anyone can lay 00:53:25.24\00:53:29.21 than that which is laid, which is Christ Jesus. 00:53:29.24\00:53:32.49 My other appeal is this. 00:53:33.30\00:53:34.56 Those of you that know the truth, one of the things that 00:53:34.59\00:53:36.97 we need to do that we can do better is love those that 00:53:37.00\00:53:40.38 don't understand this truth as well as we do. 00:53:40.41\00:53:42.53 Our church should be so warm that when people of other faith 00:53:45.09\00:53:48.17 walk in here, they are so caught off guard by the 00:53:48.20\00:53:50.99 contagion of love that they say, "They don't only have the truth, 00:53:51.02\00:53:55.95 but they have the love of Jesus in their hearts." 00:53:55.98\00:53:58.06 You see, to know the message without having the love of 00:53:58.77\00:54:00.76 Christ in your heart is just as bad as not knowing the message. 00:54:00.77\00:54:03.08 So God's people ought to learn how to love one another. 00:54:04.34\00:54:06.28 Because one of the signs of the last days, 00:54:06.31\00:54:07.80 Jesus says, "Because iniquity will abound, the love of 00:54:07.83\00:54:11.98 many will wax cold." 00:54:12.01\00:54:14.47 So what does Satan do? 00:54:15.07\00:54:16.10 He goes to the place where the truth is found 00:54:16.11\00:54:17.72 to make it one of the coldest places on earth. 00:54:17.75\00:54:19.76 That why, brothers and sisters, I'm so glad that when people 00:54:19.79\00:54:21.89 come in here, your faces are smiling, your hearts are warm, 00:54:21.92\00:54:24.66 and you embrace those that come in here. 00:54:24.69\00:54:26.23 May it be our constant testimony that whoever walks through 00:54:26.26\00:54:29.13 those doors is a candidate for the kingdom. 00:54:29.16\00:54:31.00 The thing I also want to say is that we do not by any means 00:54:33.03\00:54:36.31 believe that Seventy-day Adventists 00:54:36.34\00:54:37.77 are the only ones saved. 00:54:37.80\00:54:38.80 Can somebody say amen. 00:54:38.83\00:54:40.07 We do not label other churches as lost. 00:54:40.66\00:54:43.22 We don't label other Christians as lost. 00:54:43.25\00:54:45.57 We're simply saying, there's some problems in 00:54:46.09\00:54:48.64 some of your directions. 00:54:48.67\00:54:49.87 Fix it before it's too late. 00:54:49.88\00:54:52.66 And if somebody were driving with me, following me to 00:54:54.23\00:54:57.50 my destination, going with me to the airport, 00:54:57.53\00:55:00.31 and they had the wrong directions, 00:55:00.34\00:55:01.35 I'd pull off the road and wait for them and say, 00:55:01.38\00:55:03.57 "Where are your directions? Let me look at those." 00:55:03.58\00:55:05.73 And they would praise me and thank me 00:55:05.76\00:55:08.51 for fixing their directions. 00:55:08.54\00:55:10.85 But the devil has so done a job today that people get angry 00:55:11.39\00:55:15.31 when you try to fix their directions. 00:55:15.34\00:55:18.19 This book is the only book that is reliable in a world 00:55:18.54\00:55:24.96 where error is being embraced. 00:55:24.99\00:55:27.62 And so today I appeal to you, on the basis of 00:55:27.63\00:55:31.14 your love for the Lord. 00:55:31.17\00:55:32.17 Jesus didn't say, "Keep my commandments 00:55:32.20\00:55:35.14 and you'll love me." 00:55:35.17\00:55:36.32 Look at the scripture, it's so beautiful. 00:55:36.81\00:55:38.33 Put there by Jesus, the One who established this truth. 00:55:38.73\00:55:42.20 The One who wants to save everyone who comes 00:55:42.23\00:55:44.47 to a knowledge of His saving grace. 00:55:44.50\00:55:46.09 He says in John 14:15, our final text. 00:55:46.12\00:55:49.33 And I'd like you to read that with me, church, 00:55:49.68\00:55:51.49 our local congregation. 00:55:51.52\00:55:53.00 Are you ready? Here we go. 00:55:53.01\00:55:54.44 Jesus says what? 00:55:54.47\00:55:56.12 Simple, but oh so profound. 00:56:02.06\00:56:05.30 "If you love Me, keep My commandments." 00:56:05.70\00:56:08.88 My wife and I enjoy having breakfast together. 00:56:08.91\00:56:11.17 As a matter of fact, she buys all those cereals 00:56:11.20\00:56:12.93 with fiber in it. 00:56:12.96\00:56:14.17 And I like Post Super Sugar Crisps. 00:56:15.35\00:56:17.34 And she pulled my coat tail the other day. 00:56:19.39\00:56:21.43 She said, "Let me see the side of that box. 00:56:21.46\00:56:23.25 What's the ingredients? 00:56:23.73\00:56:24.92 How much fiber? 00:56:24.93\00:56:26.07 How much iron?" 00:56:27.15\00:56:28.38 She had eight grams of fiber in hers. 00:56:29.04\00:56:31.06 I had one gram of fiber in mine. 00:56:32.78\00:56:34.91 And she said, "It tastes good, but it's not good for you." 00:56:37.15\00:56:39.72 My point is, friends, error may taste good, 00:56:40.60\00:56:43.20 but it's not good for you. 00:56:43.95\00:56:45.64 Today God is saying, "Don't go by how it tastes." 00:56:46.26\00:56:49.09 It may fit your life style, it may fit into your schedule, 00:56:49.12\00:56:52.08 it may be perfectly convenient with all the things you want to 00:56:52.11\00:56:54.51 do on the weekend. 00:56:54.52\00:56:55.60 But if it tastes good, and that is the only thing that it brings 00:56:55.63\00:56:58.19 to your table is taste, check out its content, 00:56:58.22\00:57:01.67 check out its ingredient. 00:57:01.70\00:57:02.98 It may not be good for you. 00:57:03.01\00:57:05.62 It didn't taste good to go to the cross. 00:57:07.29\00:57:08.98 But it's the best thing that Jesus did for us. 00:57:09.88\00:57:12.51 And because Jesus was obedient even unto death, 00:57:13.01\00:57:16.22 He's calling those who love the Lord to be obedient, 00:57:16.25\00:57:19.18 that you may not lose your life. 00:57:19.93\00:57:22.81 And I appeal to you today, it's time to get back to the Bible. 00:57:22.84\00:57:26.03 May the Lord bless you as we look forward to the 00:57:26.43\00:57:28.79 final presentation this afternoon. 00:57:28.80\00:57:31.20
