Welcome to Anchors of Truth 00:00:12.69\00:00:14.53 live from the 3 ABN Worship Center, 00:00:14.95\00:00:17.02 the sanctuary series with John Bradshaw. 00:00:17.30\00:00:20.03 Hello and welcome to what is volume 00:00:23.06\00:00:25.37 3 chapter 2 in our Anchors of Faith series 00:00:25.38\00:00:29.20 and this particular set of meetings 00:00:29.60\00:00:31.60 deals with the sanctuary. 00:00:31.61\00:00:33.50 There is a word that we use couple of words that 00:00:34.08\00:00:38.76 we call systematic theology, 00:00:38.77\00:00:40.69 it's a term that people who go to college use. 00:00:41.17\00:00:43.61 But when you boil it down, that basically 00:00:44.36\00:00:46.13 means doctrines, systematic theology are 00:00:46.14\00:00:49.08 the doctrines, or the belief systems of 00:00:49.09\00:00:50.90 any group or organization. 00:00:50.91\00:00:52.40 When we talk about systematic theology, 00:00:53.61\00:00:55.94 these meetings are very, very important because 00:00:56.51\00:00:59.62 the subject matter that is the sanctuary is the one 00:00:59.94\00:01:03.60 part of systematic theology that is solely 00:01:03.83\00:01:07.10 Seventh-day Adventist. When we look at the 00:01:07.11\00:01:10.45 stew of doctrines, there are many, 00:01:11.62\00:01:14.91 many organizations, many believes 00:01:14.92\00:01:17.17 it says they can bring in the carrot and the 00:01:17.18\00:01:19.05 potatoes, Sabbath, state of the dead, salvation. 00:01:19.06\00:01:24.28 We do not hold those alone, there are many 00:01:24.79\00:01:26.78 churches that preaches these things, but when it 00:01:26.79\00:01:29.28 comes to the sanctuary that is the 00:01:29.29\00:01:32.56 one dare I say ingredient. 00:01:32.57\00:01:35.39 That is solely Seventh-day Adventist; 00:01:35.75\00:01:37.81 no one else is preaching the sanctuary 00:01:38.37\00:01:40.19 quite like we preach it. So, you're not gonna hear 00:01:40.20\00:01:43.43 what you will hear tonight in any other place, 00:01:43.44\00:01:46.25 because nobody preaches the sanctuary like we do. 00:01:46.41\00:01:49.66 The sanctuary is crucially important for a number of 00:01:50.07\00:01:52.43 reasons, one, it tells you who you are, 00:01:52.44\00:01:56.21 it tells you where you came from, 00:01:57.02\00:01:58.87 it tells you why you are here, 00:01:59.31\00:02:01.11 it explains how you got here, 00:02:01.57\00:02:03.49 it tells you where you're going 00:02:03.91\00:02:05.91 and it tells you how to get there. 00:02:05.92\00:02:07.97 That's why the study of the sanctuary is so crucial, 00:02:08.41\00:02:11.86 because it pinpoints you in time and space 00:02:12.12\00:02:15.57 and eschatology and prophecy and lets you 00:02:16.01\00:02:19.80 know precisely where you are 00:02:19.81\00:02:21.81 and where you are going. Many, many years ago 00:02:22.10\00:02:24.34 when the Adventist church got it's start, 00:02:24.35\00:02:25.98 we got our start coalescing around three 00:02:26.33\00:02:28.74 doctrines that we called the "S" doctrines, 00:02:28.75\00:02:30.95 Sabbath, Sanctuary, and State of the dead. 00:02:31.15\00:02:34.59 And those are the three main doctrines that began 00:02:35.27\00:02:38.96 to pull the Seventh-day Adventist church 00:02:38.97\00:02:40.47 together; together that is Sabbath, Sanctuary, 00:02:40.48\00:02:43.79 and State of the dead. And then of course we 00:02:43.80\00:02:45.29 grew from there, so these meetings are very, very 00:02:45.30\00:02:48.29 crucial because you are not gonna hear this stuff 00:02:48.30\00:02:50.76 any place else in the world because nobody 00:02:51.26\00:02:53.86 teaches the sanctuary like the Seventh-day 00:02:53.87\00:02:56.50 Adventist church teaches the sanctuary. 00:02:56.51\00:02:58.84 So, that is our one ingredient to the, 00:02:58.85\00:03:02.32 the stew of, of systematic theology and no one else 00:03:02.84\00:03:06.33 has it quite like we do. So it is my privilege 00:03:06.34\00:03:08.40 and pleasure to welcome you to the second night of 00:03:08.41\00:03:10.80 these meetings as our speaker 00:03:10.81\00:03:12.45 talks to us about the sanctuary. 00:03:13.78\00:03:15.28 He's of course John Bradshaw; 00:03:15.29\00:03:16.94 he is the speaker/ director for It Is Written. 00:03:17.17\00:03:20.47 And as those mentioned last night by our President 00:03:20.65\00:03:22.61 Jim Gilley, he follows in the long line of 00:03:22.62\00:03:25.01 very wonderful godly man who headed that 00:03:25.72\00:03:28.27 ministry George Vandeman, Mark Finley, 00:03:28.28\00:03:30.90 Shawn Boonstra and now John Bradshaw, 00:03:31.24\00:03:33.44 so we are very, very pleased to have him here 00:03:33.71\00:03:35.89 for these several nights. Amen. 00:08:19.34\00:08:20.86 Great to see you this evening. 00:08:21.60\00:08:22.60 We are gathering here tonight, 00:08:23.45\00:08:25.84 to gather around the Bible the holy word of God. 00:08:26.89\00:08:29.81 I believe that God has blessed us richly, 00:08:30.45\00:08:34.19 by giving us subjects in the Bible that we can go 00:08:34.78\00:08:38.13 to and mind deep, deep, deep, deep and still really 00:08:38.14\00:08:43.86 never get to the bottom of. 00:08:43.87\00:08:45.26 The sanctuary is one of those subjects, 00:08:45.67\00:08:47.95 here I am presuming to talk about the sanctuary 00:08:48.53\00:08:51.12 several times and rings have been written on the 00:08:51.49\00:08:54.10 subject and encyclopedic books and a whole sets of 00:08:54.11\00:08:59.31 books have been written about 00:08:59.32\00:09:00.87 this subject by experts. 00:09:00.88\00:09:02.44 But one wonderful thing about the Bible, 00:09:03.71\00:09:05.48 Jesus whose theology was incredibly deep, 00:09:05.94\00:09:10.38 very deep, was able to be understood by 00:09:11.08\00:09:14.14 boys and girls, the young, the old, 00:09:14.53\00:09:17.52 the highly educated, the ignorant. 00:09:17.53\00:09:20.01 The Bible is one of those books; there is something 00:09:20.78\00:09:22.46 there for every one of us, so not to be intimidated, 00:09:22.47\00:09:25.90 not to be presumptuous. We go back to the Bible 00:09:25.91\00:09:29.15 tonight and study part 2 of our Anchors of Truth 00:09:29.16\00:09:35.03 series on the sanctuary. I'm gonna pray as we 00:09:35.04\00:09:37.95 begin, if you would bow your head with me 00:09:37.96\00:09:39.53 I would be glad, let us pray. 00:09:40.08\00:09:41.51 Our Father in heaven, we thank you that 00:09:43.30\00:09:44.97 we can gather around your word, 00:09:44.98\00:09:46.81 we come to you tonight in the name of Jesus, 00:09:48.35\00:09:50.65 not presumptuously I pray but humbly asking 00:09:51.26\00:09:56.15 that your spirit would guide our spiritual steps. 00:09:56.16\00:10:00.18 And open the eyes of our understanding; 00:10:01.39\00:10:03.95 I pray that you would be merciful to this 00:10:05.13\00:10:07.39 frail, faulty human instrument. 00:10:09.27\00:10:11.90 That in spite of what you have to work with, 00:10:13.31\00:10:15.91 your voice would still be heard and we would still 00:10:17.19\00:10:19.44 see Jesus clearly and beautifully. 00:10:19.45\00:10:21.60 Bless us please to your glory, 00:10:22.55\00:10:24.83 we ask in Jesus name, amen. 00:10:26.10\00:10:29.96 In 1985, an event took place maybe I should say 00:10:34.65\00:10:40.43 a series of events took place that had a very, 00:10:40.44\00:10:45.47 very big effect on these United States. 00:10:45.48\00:10:49.27 It wasn't an election, it wasn't a death, 00:10:50.91\00:10:56.06 it wasn't a sporting event, 00:10:57.39\00:10:59.59 it wasn't an natural disaster. 00:11:01.17\00:11:03.97 The truth of the matter is that many 00:11:06.15\00:11:07.47 people thought it was way more important 00:11:07.48\00:11:09.63 than any of those things. 00:11:09.64\00:11:11.08 I tell you what had been taking place. 00:11:12.13\00:11:13.51 Sometime before that Coca cola had been losing 00:11:14.65\00:11:18.86 market share to Pepsi cola in fact I believe 00:11:18.87\00:11:22.83 I am right and saying that now there was 00:11:22.84\00:11:24.46 more Pepsi cola being sold in supermarkets 00:11:24.47\00:11:26.76 then there was Coca cola. And so the marketing 00:11:27.07\00:11:29.98 geniuses that Coca cola decided that they would 00:11:29.99\00:11:32.94 use their MBA's to good effect and they 00:11:32.95\00:11:35.27 would do something whatever it took to claw 00:11:35.28\00:11:38.88 their way back to first place in the cola wars. 00:11:38.89\00:11:42.19 See their tests reveal that people preferred 00:11:42.64\00:11:45.39 Pepsi because it was a little sweeter than 00:11:45.55\00:11:48.97 Coca cola and so they went to the lab and they 00:11:48.98\00:11:53.22 can concocted something they thought was going 00:11:53.23\00:11:57.15 to have a superior taste to the pretender Pepsi cola. 00:11:57.16\00:12:01.52 And so on a given day what everybody had, 00:12:02.45\00:12:06.20 I shouldn't say everybody, but what 00:12:06.21\00:12:07.54 America had been drinking as their 00:12:07.55\00:12:09.84 Coca cola beverage was pulled from the market 00:12:10.28\00:12:13.28 and new coke was rolled out in its place. 00:12:13.64\00:12:17.66 Now, to begin with sales of new coke were 00:12:19.09\00:12:22.66 good, but over a period of time and when I say 00:12:22.67\00:12:26.59 a period of time I mean a very short period of time. 00:12:26.60\00:12:31.15 Sales of the new coke tanked 00:12:31.62\00:12:33.60 and people were not happy. 00:12:34.36\00:12:36.82 In fact psychologists employed by the 00:12:36.83\00:12:39.59 Coca cola company said that people who called 00:12:39.60\00:12:42.19 Coca cola to talk about the ouster of old coke 00:12:42.20\00:12:45.37 and the introduction of new coke sounded 00:12:45.55\00:12:47.77 just like people who were mourning the 00:12:47.78\00:12:50.64 death of a close friend or a family member. 00:12:50.65\00:12:52.88 People who worked for Coca cola bottling 00:12:54.95\00:12:56.49 plants were reporting that they now had 00:12:56.50\00:12:58.80 friends who wouldn't even talk to them 00:12:58.81\00:13:00.80 anymore, talk show hosts and comedians 00:13:00.81\00:13:04.33 lambasted the new coke. At supporting events 00:13:04.73\00:13:08.10 like baseball games when advertisements 00:13:08.11\00:13:10.11 would appear advertising new coke, fans would boo. 00:13:10.12\00:13:13.69 They were even protests in some parts of the 00:13:13.77\00:13:15.93 United States, in the South, in many 00:13:15.94\00:13:18.53 Southern States people went to the streets and 00:13:18.54\00:13:21.06 they took their cans and their bottles of new 00:13:21.07\00:13:23.25 coke and poured them out in the streets, 00:13:23.26\00:13:26.08 that had to be a sticky mess, poured them out 00:13:26.39\00:13:28.68 in the streets in protests that the Atlanta based 00:13:28.69\00:13:32.50 Coca cola company would dare to do 00:13:32.51\00:13:34.77 something so terrible, as take away their old coke. 00:13:34.78\00:13:39.46 Well, Coca cola announced less then 00:13:41.40\00:13:44.25 three months after the introduction of 00:13:44.26\00:13:45.77 new coke that old coke was coming back, 00:13:45.78\00:13:48.75 that announcement was so important that Peter 00:13:49.53\00:13:52.18 Jennings interrupted ABC's nightly news to 00:13:52.19\00:13:55.55 make the announcement, one senator 00:13:55.56\00:13:58.02 it seems funny now doesn't it? 00:13:58.27\00:13:59.30 Arkansas Senator Pryor, 00:14:00.00\00:14:02.29 David Pryor believe his name was. 00:14:02.30\00:14:04.07 He said and I wrote down what he said, 00:14:04.48\00:14:05.94 he said that, that the reintroduction of old 00:14:06.21\00:14:08.50 coke was a meaningful moment in U.S. history. 00:14:08.51\00:14:11.95 Seventy seven days after being taken off the 00:14:13.95\00:14:15.66 market classic coke was reintroduced and before 00:14:15.67\00:14:18.67 along new coke was a relic of the past. 00:14:18.68\00:14:22.78 The simple fact of the matter was that 00:14:22.84\00:14:25.70 the withdrawal of old coke and the 00:14:26.78\00:14:30.91 introduction of new coke was a 00:14:30.92\00:14:33.54 monumental categorical failure. 00:14:33.55\00:14:38.64 They tried and they got it wrong, they reached 00:14:39.64\00:14:43.68 for the stars and they came up dreadfully 00:14:43.69\00:14:47.53 short, nobody likes to fail. 00:14:47.95\00:14:51.38 And there are millions of ways that we can 00:14:51.69\00:14:53.70 fail, basketball player takes a last minute 00:14:53.71\00:14:57.25 attempt at a game winning shot makes the 00:14:57.76\00:14:59.93 basket and he's a hero, tries the same thing 00:14:59.94\00:15:02.19 tomorrow night he misses 00:15:02.20\00:15:03.62 and he's a goat he failed. 00:15:03.63\00:15:05.90 Yours kids birthday is coming up and you 00:15:08.96\00:15:10.17 gonna make the mother of all birthday cakes 00:15:10.18\00:15:11.92 and it's gonna be great and on the afternoon of 00:15:11.93\00:15:14.20 the birthday party, you take the cake out of the 00:15:14.21\00:15:15.86 oven and there is a big crater where the cake is 00:15:15.87\00:15:18.64 supposed to be rising up like a lovely hill top. 00:15:18.65\00:15:21.67 And you don't feel good about that and you're 00:15:22.63\00:15:24.59 not even sure where to go now, because what 00:15:24.60\00:15:26.83 I'm gonna do replace junior's birthday cake, 00:15:26.84\00:15:29.16 you might have try to fix, 00:15:30.25\00:15:31.38 I'm gonna tell you about this. 00:15:31.70\00:15:32.81 What was it, that's right it was just recently we 00:15:34.05\00:15:35.91 were getting ready move and the dryer packed up. 00:15:35.92\00:15:38.88 Melissa said, the dryer is not working anymore, 00:15:39.60\00:15:41.63 I've had that problem before I can fix it. 00:15:41.64\00:15:43.68 You just, you just turn it back on it will go, 00:15:43.69\00:15:45.67 I had a very sophisticated method of fixing things, 00:15:46.58\00:15:48.59 you just turn it back on it will go. 00:15:48.60\00:15:50.17 Went down dryer I turn it on wasn't going, 00:15:50.68\00:15:53.29 I reached it I turned the little barrel around, 00:15:53.68\00:15:55.78 and I said well maybe something stuck, 00:15:55.79\00:15:57.22 try it again it wasn't going and then I realize 00:15:57.89\00:16:00.14 no doubt a belt around the dryer tumble 00:16:00.54\00:16:03.29 is broken that happens 00:16:03.81\00:16:04.89 after a few years you know. 00:16:05.10\00:16:06.19 And so I said I know what to do, 00:16:06.69\00:16:07.91 I will take the back off the 00:16:08.19\00:16:09.54 dryer and I will fix it up. 00:16:09.55\00:16:11.34 There was something telling me, 00:16:12.06\00:16:13.27 Google how to fix a broken dryer, 00:16:14.27\00:16:17.29 Google that, I said man I don't have time for 00:16:17.74\00:16:19.18 Google right now. And then something, 00:16:19.19\00:16:21.40 someone told me your ought to flip off the 00:16:21.75\00:16:24.77 power, before you mess around 00:16:24.78\00:16:26.34 the back of the appliance. 00:16:26.35\00:16:27.32 I said I am only taking off the back, 00:16:28.03\00:16:29.40 I am not gonna mess with anything, 00:16:29.86\00:16:30.85 it was later on I found out that if you wanna 00:16:31.49\00:16:33.43 fix the thing you take the top up, not the back off. 00:16:33.44\00:16:36.31 I found that out too late, I took the back off 00:16:37.60\00:16:39.73 I said there I looked I said well how in the 00:16:39.74\00:16:41.52 world, well I get to the what do you call I think 00:16:41.53\00:16:44.27 the belt I didn't know. So I had to take this 00:16:44.28\00:16:48.93 thing off, Google and in this ear unplug it, 00:16:48.94\00:16:54.72 Google, un, I said I don't have time for that. 00:16:55.70\00:16:58.30 And next minute there was, and there was a 00:16:58.54\00:17:00.45 spark and there was pop. Thankfully I didn't pop, 00:17:00.46\00:17:03.83 and the light that was shinning inside the 00:17:04.91\00:17:07.22 dryer went up and I had to go back upstairs with 00:17:07.23\00:17:11.28 my tail between my legs and announced to 00:17:11.29\00:17:14.60 my wife that heroic, wise all-knowing, 00:17:14.61\00:17:20.46 all fixing husband had failed. 00:17:20.95\00:17:23.93 And it was a spectacular failed, 00:17:25.02\00:17:27.32 a failure, at least I wasn't dead. 00:17:27.77\00:17:30.61 You know, other ways you can fail, 00:17:33.32\00:17:34.64 you can fail to find the perfect anniversary gift, 00:17:34.88\00:17:37.07 you can fail to remember your anniversary, 00:17:37.08\00:17:39.59 I wouldn't recommend that, that's not good, 00:17:39.82\00:17:41.46 you can fail an exam, you can fail just to get 00:17:41.87\00:17:45.18 everything done on a given day that you 00:17:45.19\00:17:46.52 wanna get done. A failure doesn't feel 00:17:46.53\00:17:49.06 good, nobody likes to fail, nobody wants to 00:17:49.07\00:17:53.10 fail, its not good, but the failures I'm talking 00:17:53.11\00:17:57.04 about, belts can be replaced you know what? 00:17:57.05\00:17:59.68 I Googled how to replace a belt, 00:18:00.06\00:18:03.63 then I called a place do you have a belt for this 00:18:04.72\00:18:07.35 model, I got the belt and did in twenty minutes 00:18:07.36\00:18:11.53 what had ended up costing me a couple 00:18:13.29\00:18:15.97 of weeks into the movement all of that. 00:18:15.98\00:18:17.83 But those things really inconsequential, 00:18:19.05\00:18:20.93 you can get over not being able to get a stain 00:18:21.59\00:18:26.23 out of your children's clothing. 00:18:26.24\00:18:27.28 You can get over that, but the failures that 00:18:27.72\00:18:30.81 really eat at you, that really nor at you, 00:18:30.82\00:18:33.15 really the ones that matter 00:18:33.16\00:18:34.26 most are spiritual failures. 00:18:34.27\00:18:37.19 What do you do at the end of the day when 00:18:38.35\00:18:41.66 you realize that you have failed spiritually 00:18:41.67\00:18:44.71 or you might think you are a failure spiritually. 00:18:44.72\00:18:50.72 Now, the truth of the matter is the word of 00:18:52.47\00:18:53.84 God says that we have all failed spiritually, 00:18:53.85\00:18:56.16 all of us, that's me, that's you, that's Mother 00:18:56.39\00:18:59.41 Theresa, that's the Pop, that's the General 00:18:59.42\00:19:01.97 Conference President, all, because I read in the 00:19:01.98\00:19:04.46 Bible that all have sinned, and come short 00:19:04.47\00:19:08.85 of the glory of God. It's an ugly reality 00:19:09.02\00:19:12.00 of our spiritual lives, but it's a reality 00:19:12.01\00:19:15.07 nonetheless, all have sinned and that's not 00:19:15.08\00:19:19.21 such a good thing. Because as we talked 00:19:19.22\00:19:21.14 about last night, sin separates between 00:19:21.15\00:19:24.06 us and God and the wages of sin is what? 00:19:24.07\00:19:27.14 Its death, the wages of sin is death. 00:19:27.67\00:19:31.88 We failed spiritually, and nobody feels 00:19:32.67\00:19:35.52 good about that. Do you know you lose 00:19:35.53\00:19:38.41 your temper with the kids? 00:19:38.42\00:19:39.46 Now, of course I wouldn't do that 00:19:39.47\00:19:40.72 but I mean you might lose your temper with 00:19:40.73\00:19:42.96 the kids and you say something you know 00:19:42.97\00:19:45.47 you shouldn't say, you manifest an angry spirit 00:19:45.48\00:19:48.80 like you know you should manifest and for 00:19:48.99\00:19:51.75 a brief moment you feel it's almost accelerating 00:19:51.76\00:19:54.61 because that's what anger is like you know 00:19:54.62\00:19:56.15 and then, and then you go away saying oh! 00:19:56.16\00:19:59.07 How could I do that, how could I speak to 00:19:59.08\00:20:00.88 my spouse, so unkindly? How could I slam the 00:20:00.89\00:20:05.12 door on the way out of my, my employee's 00:20:05.13\00:20:08.67 office and leave the office in a huff. 00:20:08.68\00:20:10.61 How could I, how could I do those things? 00:20:11.00\00:20:13.12 How could I, now that's a bad feeling, 00:20:13.13\00:20:16.19 a bad feeling? Every so often we feel 00:20:16.38\00:20:19.19 wrong spiritually and there was a tendency, 00:20:19.20\00:20:20.95 it's not a total bad tendency because a 00:20:20.96\00:20:24.89 little guilt will take you a long way. 00:20:24.90\00:20:26.28 But you can feel like a spiritual failure, 00:20:28.73\00:20:30.95 no one likes that, nobody. 00:20:31.93\00:20:34.34 Well, I have good news for you, 00:20:35.23\00:20:36.58 and that is that God has a remedy, a sure fire, 00:20:37.12\00:20:42.91 fail safe, full proof remedy for our spiritual 00:20:43.67\00:20:49.23 failings, and that's good news. 00:20:49.24\00:20:52.79 Last time we begin our Anchors of Truth 00:20:53.73\00:20:56.63 study series on the subject of the sanctuary 00:20:57.21\00:20:59.66 sanctuary reality, we discover there really is 00:21:00.06\00:21:07.23 a real sanctuary in a real heaven. 00:21:07.56\00:21:10.53 A real God is there and His very real Son, 00:21:11.15\00:21:14.94 our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is there in 00:21:15.34\00:21:19.33 heaven's sanctuary, it's a glorious structure, 00:21:19.34\00:21:22.60 no earthly structure could ever come close 00:21:23.14\00:21:25.59 to representing it's vastness, it's majesty 00:21:25.60\00:21:28.76 and it's glory. Revelation talks about it, 00:21:29.19\00:21:32.09 the book of Hebrews is all over it of course 00:21:32.29\00:21:34.84 because Paul is writing to the very believers 00:21:34.85\00:21:37.72 who have a temple in their very midst. 00:21:38.03\00:21:40.91 Christ, our High Priest does minister for us, 00:21:41.83\00:21:46.55 real people, real sinners, in a real sanctuary 00:21:46.84\00:21:49.75 ministering the real benefits of His very real 00:21:50.10\00:21:53.63 sacrifice for us. Now, this time around 00:21:53.64\00:21:56.50 we're calling our presentation the 00:21:56.51\00:21:58.38 presentation the sanctuary spirituality 00:21:58.39\00:22:00.91 it's one thing to know that there is a sanctuary, 00:22:01.69\00:22:03.63 but how does that effect our lives spiritually, 00:22:03.90\00:22:06.62 we talked last time about having an 00:22:06.72\00:22:08.91 High Priest praise the Lord. 00:22:08.92\00:22:10.54 There's a spiritual reality, but what is it 00:22:10.89\00:22:14.40 about the sanctuary or what about the 00:22:14.41\00:22:16.99 sanctuary it takes us deeper into the mind 00:22:17.00\00:22:19.82 and into the heart of God, it gives us deeper 00:22:19.83\00:22:22.29 insights into the plan of salvation and God's 00:22:22.30\00:22:25.05 working for us and his grace for us 00:22:25.06\00:22:27.31 and his goodness to us. Now, first let's remember 00:22:27.70\00:22:31.13 some things its good nail some things down 00:22:31.14\00:22:33.75 and have them establish, 00:22:33.96\00:22:34.93 the Bible says that God is what? 00:22:35.11\00:22:38.67 Love, John wrote that in First John and he was 00:22:39.41\00:22:42.26 so impressed by that idea he repeated it 00:22:42.27\00:22:45.93 8 verses later in First John 4 and verse 16. 00:22:45.94\00:22:48.96 God is love Peter said that God is not willing 00:22:49.36\00:22:53.70 that any should perish but that 00:22:53.99\00:22:56.18 all should come to what? 00:22:56.76\00:22:58.22 Repentance, that's God's desire for us, 00:22:59.04\00:23:01.42 it's not to say that everybody will come to 00:23:01.64\00:23:03.66 repentance but if God had it His way or if God 00:23:03.67\00:23:08.18 had what He really wanted His will would 00:23:08.19\00:23:11.36 be that everybody would choose to come 00:23:11.37\00:23:14.22 to repentance. Now, remember this 00:23:14.23\00:23:16.29 verse, Matthew 1 and verse 21: 00:23:16.30\00:23:18.05 Thou shalt call his name Jesus. 00:23:18.44\00:23:19.87 For he shall do what? Save His people from what? 00:23:20.38\00:23:24.01 Alright now that's a reality you understand, 00:23:24.71\00:23:26.67 when Adam and Eve sinned what was it that 00:23:27.29\00:23:29.48 God do, let's remember that God is love it will 00:23:29.49\00:23:31.92 help us understand the sanctuary. 00:23:31.93\00:23:33.69 What did God do when Adam and Eve sinned? 00:23:34.40\00:23:36.61 The Bible says that God came down to the 00:23:36.72\00:23:39.93 Garden of Eden, now I don't know if you've 00:23:39.94\00:23:42.98 ever had maybe the noisy kids playing in 00:23:42.99\00:23:46.37 your front yard, you went out to see them 00:23:46.38\00:23:47.94 alright, you run them off. Amen. 00:23:47.95\00:23:50.77 The God had some noisy kids playing in 00:23:50.88\00:23:52.41 His front yard they had sinned, 00:23:52.42\00:23:54.39 God came down to the Garden of Eden to see 00:23:54.74\00:23:57.62 Adam and Eve and when He did He was 00:23:57.63\00:23:59.92 not coming down to run them off. 00:23:59.93\00:24:01.80 He was not coming down to read them 00:24:02.15\00:24:03.99 the right act, God was not coming down so He 00:24:04.00\00:24:06.95 could look at them sternly, to rebuke them 00:24:06.96\00:24:09.17 sharply, turn His back on them and walk away. 00:24:09.18\00:24:11.70 The Bible says that when God came down 00:24:12.26\00:24:14.31 to the Garden of Eden He called out to Adam, 00:24:14.32\00:24:16.69 He said Adam, where are you? 00:24:16.99\00:24:19.40 Which is a curious thing for God to say? 00:24:20.88\00:24:22.83 God who created the universe, 00:24:24.01\00:24:26.65 God whom the Bible says the heaven of 00:24:27.51\00:24:30.27 heavens cannot contain, God came down to a 00:24:30.28\00:24:33.02 garden can't have been the biggest garden in 00:24:33.03\00:24:35.19 the universe I would have thought. 00:24:35.20\00:24:36.30 And He said Adam, where are you? 00:24:36.57\00:24:37.90 As though he had lost him? 00:24:38.14\00:24:39.11 No, God had not lost him. God wasn't saying 00:24:39.19\00:24:42.12 Adam, where are you geographically, 00:24:42.13\00:24:44.16 God was saying Adam where are you spiritually? 00:24:44.87\00:24:48.20 Adam where is your heart, I have come 00:24:48.72\00:24:50.53 down here to do something about the 00:24:50.54\00:24:52.16 separation between me and you. 00:24:52.17\00:24:53.81 God is love, He could have nuked Adam and 00:24:54.11\00:24:58.92 Eve the moment they had their first crooked 00:24:58.93\00:25:02.01 thought, but He didn't and when sin had 00:25:02.02\00:25:05.34 happened God came down here seeking the sinners. 00:25:05.35\00:25:09.23 As they draw them back to His heart of love, 00:25:09.39\00:25:11.77 I say praise the Lord. Amen. That's the God 00:25:11.98\00:25:15.19 we serve, let me make a statement in the hope 00:25:15.20\00:25:18.37 that you will understand it, in the way I wish for 00:25:18.38\00:25:20.37 it to be understood. Our problem isn't sin, 00:25:20.38\00:25:24.11 now we could have a whole series of sermons 00:25:24.62\00:25:26.88 pointing out that the problem is sin. 00:25:26.89\00:25:28.52 But let me make my point our problem isn't 00:25:28.53\00:25:31.71 sin, God has got a remedy for that, 00:25:31.72\00:25:35.33 just take a look at Calvary that will show 00:25:36.10\00:25:39.35 you that when it comes to sin God has done 00:25:39.36\00:25:42.48 everything necessary, everything imaginable, 00:25:42.88\00:25:47.76 everything possible to get us back 00:25:48.08\00:25:51.10 over the hump of sin. No sin's not our 00:25:51.11\00:25:54.58 problem, now I mean I'm not recommending 00:25:54.59\00:25:57.67 sin by the way don't think for a second that 00:25:57.68\00:25:59.42 I am saying sin's not a problem, 00:25:59.43\00:26:00.89 massive problem. My suggestion tonight 00:26:01.52\00:26:04.14 is that sin is not The problem, 00:26:04.15\00:26:06.05 I want you to think about a sinner his name 00:26:06.06\00:26:08.03 we don't know, but he's referred too in the Bible 00:26:08.26\00:26:10.45 as the prodigal son. The prodigal son said to 00:26:10.71\00:26:13.99 his dad it's time for me to go, I would like my 00:26:14.00\00:26:16.14 share of the farm one third, 00:26:16.15\00:26:18.13 wait was he the older brother 00:26:19.44\00:26:20.56 or the younger brother? 00:26:20.57\00:26:21.54 Alright, one third because the older 00:26:22.54\00:26:24.23 brother would have taken double portion, 00:26:24.24\00:26:25.75 give me my share of the farm dad I am out of here, 00:26:26.23\00:26:28.62 and the boy takes a bag full of money and goes 00:26:28.80\00:26:32.06 to a far country and squanders it, 00:26:32.07\00:26:34.77 just like he went the Vegas and run around 00:26:35.43\00:26:37.22 in limousines and went to the fancy casinos. 00:26:37.23\00:26:40.17 Now, there is a oxymoron for you, 00:26:40.33\00:26:41.93 and a fancy night clubs that was another one 00:26:42.12\00:26:44.14 and he blow it all and he made a fool of himself. 00:26:44.43\00:26:47.64 While he was sitting in the mud of the pigs 00:26:48.76\00:26:50.10 stall, he said in his heart, man what an idiot 00:26:50.11\00:26:53.29 I've been, I got to go back to dad, 00:26:53.30\00:26:55.00 but I'm gonna go back and I will say dad if you 00:26:55.57\00:26:57.53 would take me back as a slave, 00:26:57.54\00:26:59.34 that's what I'm asking for. 00:26:59.70\00:27:00.82 And so he's going back home somehow dad 00:27:01.10\00:27:04.17 sees him coming from a great way off, dad said, 00:27:04.18\00:27:07.17 man, my son is back he leaps the fence and runs 00:27:07.18\00:27:11.38 up the road to meet the boy what would you 00:27:11.39\00:27:12.95 thought you were the boy. 00:27:12.96\00:27:14.04 He is dad, well that's not what God was 00:27:16.39\00:27:19.59 thinking, the dad runs up to the boy he hugs 00:27:19.60\00:27:24.13 and he kisses him and he says come on now, 00:27:24.14\00:27:26.62 let's kill the fatted calf and get a new robe on 00:27:26.63\00:27:28.74 you and that signet ring that that 00:27:28.75\00:27:30.85 shows that you have authority. 00:27:30.86\00:27:32.10 You know that's the only place in the Bible 00:27:32.81\00:27:34.44 at least that I am aware off that shows God 00:27:34.45\00:27:36.80 running, you know that the dad represents God 00:27:36.81\00:27:40.36 we know that. And here the dad representing 00:27:40.37\00:27:42.98 God runs, the only time in the Bible God runs 00:27:42.99\00:27:47.43 what he is running to do? He's running towards 00:27:47.44\00:27:50.43 the sinner not to chase the sinner away, 00:27:50.44\00:27:52.85 but to grab hold of the sinner and draw him 00:27:53.00\00:27:55.50 back to God's great heart of love, 00:27:55.51\00:27:56.97 that's the God we serve friends. Amen. 00:27:57.30\00:27:59.42 The Bible says that God is love, 00:27:59.43\00:28:01.99 no sin is not the problem, the problem is 00:28:02.20\00:28:05.38 our unwillingness to come to God, 00:28:05.52\00:28:07.82 so that He can do something about the sin problem. 00:28:07.95\00:28:10.06 You understand what I mean, right I don't 00:28:11.22\00:28:12.19 want to leave the wrong impression on you here. 00:28:12.20\00:28:13.52 It's the not the sin, sin is a reality now a man 00:28:14.44\00:28:17.25 we've all sinned let's get over that. 00:28:17.64\00:28:20.27 Now, let's deal with the solution, 00:28:20.63\00:28:22.15 the solution run to God, here is my heart Lord, 00:28:22.37\00:28:25.75 you've got to do something about it. 00:28:25.76\00:28:27.28 And when you pray a prayer like that 00:28:28.48\00:28:29.75 you know that God is gonna do something 00:28:30.35\00:28:31.59 about it, God wishes for us to run to Him. 00:28:31.60\00:28:34.71 So, that he can clean us up and make us whole. 00:28:35.24\00:28:37.42 The word of God says in Psalms 77 and verse 13: 00:28:37.71\00:28:40.60 Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary, 00:28:41.03\00:28:45.06 who is so greater God as our God remember 00:28:45.50\00:28:48.81 the big picture. God creates a world, 00:28:48.82\00:28:51.56 populates it with two people very happy, 00:28:51.57\00:28:54.14 very holy people, Adam and Eve his wife. 00:28:54.15\00:28:56.60 And then inexplicably there is no, 00:28:58.06\00:29:00.17 there is no excuse for it, there is no real 00:29:00.62\00:29:04.15 satisfactory explanation for it, 00:29:05.01\00:29:06.85 Adam and Eve fell into sin. 00:29:07.67\00:29:08.88 Sin separated between God and Adam and Eve 00:29:09.33\00:29:12.74 that was terrible but God had thought of 00:29:13.06\00:29:17.08 that ahead of time. Because we know that 00:29:17.09\00:29:18.86 as soon as there was sin, there was a savior. 00:29:18.87\00:29:22.15 But God now could not dwell in 00:29:22.61\00:29:24.48 the midst of his people. He was unable to do 00:29:24.49\00:29:27.50 that as he once did, his great grand holy 00:29:27.51\00:29:31.24 presence would be just too much for sinful 00:29:31.25\00:29:34.27 human beings to bear. God had a plan then, 00:29:34.28\00:29:37.17 after his people were free from Egyptian 00:29:38.22\00:29:39.76 slavery He said to Moses: And let them 00:29:39.77\00:29:42.10 make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them. 00:29:42.11\00:29:44.66 As a matter of fact, I'm gonna read you a 00:29:44.96\00:29:46.94 couple of verses here from Exodus chapter 00:29:46.95\00:29:48.47 25, Exodus and chapter 25 verse 1: 00:29:48.48\00:29:53.17 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 00:29:53.61\00:29:55.26 "Speak to the children of Israel, that they will 00:29:55.59\00:29:57.84 bring me an offering: of every man that gives 00:29:57.85\00:30:00.30 willingly with his heart ye shall take my offering. 00:30:00.31\00:30:02.97 And you know they did go to the place Moses 00:30:03.15\00:30:05.03 said enough don't bring anymore wouldn't that 00:30:05.04\00:30:07.03 be great, next time there's a church 00:30:07.04\00:30:09.85 building project, building many he had to 00:30:09.86\00:30:12.47 say, don't bring anymore money 00:30:12.48\00:30:13.67 we had enough, what a privilege they consider 00:30:13.68\00:30:17.76 it to be, to support the building of the 00:30:17.77\00:30:20.24 sanctuary of God. And it is a privilege 00:30:20.25\00:30:22.72 to support God's word can you say amen? 00:30:23.11\00:30:24.63 Amen. There is no question about it, 00:30:24.64\00:30:26.23 alright verse 8: Let them make me a 00:30:26.69\00:30:28.57 sanctuary, that I may dwell among them, 00:30:28.58\00:30:30.01 verse 9: According to all that I show you, 00:30:30.02\00:30:32.74 after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the 00:30:33.14\00:30:34.71 pattern of all the instruments thereof, 00:30:34.72\00:30:36.71 even so shall you make it. Moses have me make 00:30:37.06\00:30:40.37 a sanctuary I want to dwell in the midst of 00:30:40.38\00:30:43.53 my people and he did, God's visible presence 00:30:43.54\00:30:46.29 was there, the Shekinah glory was manifest there. 00:30:46.30\00:30:49.60 It filled the sanctuary to overflowing, 00:30:49.75\00:30:52.57 God wanted to dwell in the midst of His people. 00:30:52.95\00:30:56.70 Another reason for having the sanctuary 00:30:57.98\00:30:59.66 it would be a teaching tool, it would be to 00:30:59.67\00:31:02.36 reveal to the people what God was really 00:31:02.37\00:31:04.02 like hundreds of years now, and they've been 00:31:04.03\00:31:06.12 dwelling in the midst of, of abject hedonism. 00:31:06.13\00:31:09.00 And they may have come out, there were 00:31:10.14\00:31:11.41 some strange ideas is to what God was really like, 00:31:11.42\00:31:13.84 God wanted to show them what he was like, 00:31:14.29\00:31:16.25 what he would do for them in the present and 00:31:17.09\00:31:19.24 what he would do for them in the future. 00:31:19.25\00:31:20.95 He also wanted them to understand and future 00:31:21.21\00:31:24.41 generations to understand that one day 00:31:24.42\00:31:27.06 a Messiah would come; he would deal with the 00:31:27.07\00:31:30.59 problem of sin. And usher in a forever 00:31:30.60\00:31:34.49 with no sin and no curse. Stephen Haskell book 00:31:34.96\00:31:39.50 The Cross and It's Shadow, called the 00:31:39.51\00:31:41.38 Sanctuary the most wonderful object lesson 00:31:41.39\00:31:44.53 ever given to mankind that's what he called it. 00:31:44.87\00:31:47.66 So, God was gonna help them understand what 00:31:49.09\00:31:50.73 the plan of salvation was all about, 00:31:50.74\00:31:52.45 what is mercy and graceful like? 00:31:52.68\00:31:54.09 What his unfailing love was all about? 00:31:54.77\00:31:57.37 The people surrounded by darkness, 00:31:57.94\00:31:59.61 we're gonna see a great light and light would 00:31:59.86\00:32:02.26 shine out of the sanctuary and so they 00:32:02.27\00:32:04.50 build a sanctuary a dwelling place for God, 00:32:04.51\00:32:06.97 a beautiful two room structure. 00:32:06.98\00:32:08.95 First room holy place, second room most holy 00:32:09.32\00:32:11.78 place it was grand, inside there the walls 00:32:11.79\00:32:15.72 were lined with Gold there 00:32:15.73\00:32:17.75 were fabulous rich curtains, 00:32:17.76\00:32:19.90 some of them had angels embroiled on there. 00:32:20.04\00:32:23.08 God was telling them the angels look on and 00:32:23.42\00:32:26.01 the angels are part of the plan of salvation, 00:32:26.02\00:32:29.40 I will send you hope that half of the time 00:32:29.74\00:32:32.11 not hope, help. I will send you and hope, 00:32:32.48\00:32:34.49 I'll send you hope, and I'll send you help 00:32:34.74\00:32:38.15 that half of the time you won't even know who's 00:32:38.70\00:32:40.75 there, you thought you got lucky crossing the 00:32:40.76\00:32:44.36 street and you didn't get hit by that bus. 00:32:44.37\00:32:46.35 Wait a minute I had an angel run up there and 00:32:46.70\00:32:48.57 slow it down, God said there are gonna be 00:32:48.74\00:32:51.88 angels helping you through all of this. 00:32:51.89\00:32:53.65 God had the roof made out of four different 00:32:54.62\00:32:56.67 cloths or skins inside the sanctuary varying 00:32:56.68\00:33:00.27 items of furniture. Now, that first room 00:33:00.71\00:33:04.45 I mentioned was a room called the holy place 00:33:04.46\00:33:06.40 and what was inside there, inside the holy 00:33:06.41\00:33:09.15 place was the table of Shewbread on the 00:33:09.16\00:33:11.49 North side and the seven branch 00:33:11.50\00:33:14.44 candlestick lamp-stand on the South side and 00:33:14.45\00:33:17.35 straight your head was the altar of incense. 00:33:17.36\00:33:21.92 Now, these were wonderful pieces of 00:33:22.87\00:33:24.06 furniture, but even in the furniture God 00:33:24.07\00:33:28.14 poured meaning and blessing and representation 00:33:28.91\00:33:33.76 and lessons and opportunity for learning. 00:33:33.92\00:33:37.20 The table of Shewbread, now that was a meal 00:33:38.06\00:33:42.89 offering to the Lord. I wrote down what 00:33:42.90\00:33:45.56 M.L. Andreasen said about it, 00:33:45.57\00:33:47.06 he said it was an ever- present testimony that 00:33:47.07\00:33:50.05 Israel was dependent upon God for sustenance, 00:33:50.06\00:33:53.26 and a constant promise from God that 00:33:54.19\00:33:57.31 He would sustain them. The bread of the 00:33:57.32\00:34:01.19 presence is symbolic of the one who ever lives 00:34:01.20\00:34:03.93 to make intersection for us, Jesus said, 00:34:03.94\00:34:06.76 I am the bread of life, He was the living bread 00:34:07.07\00:34:12.30 who came down from heaven, that Shewbread 00:34:12.50\00:34:15.74 represented Jesus and further than that. 00:34:16.04\00:34:19.98 Remember what Jesus said in John 6 and verse 00:34:21.10\00:34:23.30 33, no John 6 and verse 63, He said the flesh 00:34:23.31\00:34:27.36 profits nothing, He said the words that I speak 00:34:27.37\00:34:31.84 to you they are spirit and they are life. 00:34:31.85\00:34:35.89 So the bread in the sanctuary takes us in 00:34:36.14\00:34:40.38 our thoughts to Jesus, the bread of life and to 00:34:40.39\00:34:44.16 His word which for us is truly bread. 00:34:44.17\00:34:48.58 Matthew 4 and verse 4: Jesus said, it is written; 00:34:49.41\00:34:52.89 Man shall not live by bread alone, but by what? 00:34:54.13\00:34:57.64 By every word that proceeds from the mouth, 00:34:58.12\00:35:00.13 of the mouth of God." That bread inside 00:35:00.39\00:35:03.84 the sanctuary reminds us and reminded them, 00:35:03.85\00:35:06.73 that just like we are dependent upon food 00:35:06.74\00:35:11.58 to live physically, we are absolutely 00:35:11.76\00:35:16.43 completely totally 100 percent dependent upon 00:35:16.44\00:35:20.20 God's word to exist and to live spiritually. 00:35:20.21\00:35:25.41 We can't survive without the word of God, 00:35:26.27\00:35:32.00 what did Jeremiah write: Thy words were found, 00:35:32.14\00:35:35.67 and I did eat them. In Revelation chapter 10, 00:35:36.01\00:35:39.76 a chapter that is, that is, can I say, 00:35:40.46\00:35:43.60 I think I can, a chapter that is pregnant 00:35:43.61\00:35:45.54 with meaningful believers today? 00:35:45.55\00:35:47.38 Daniel took a little book, it wasn't Daniel, 00:35:49.65\00:35:53.68 John took a little book but it was Daniel's book 00:35:54.20\00:35:56.40 and he ate it and it was sweet in his mouth, 00:35:57.37\00:36:02.03 bitter in his belly. God's word is like food for us 00:36:02.52\00:36:07.79 today and so friend if we're not reading, 00:36:07.80\00:36:10.09 if we're not opening the Bible, if we're not doing 00:36:10.84\00:36:13.80 more than just glazing over the surface, 00:36:13.81\00:36:16.19 grazing at the surface. We are not growing and 00:36:16.20\00:36:19.61 benefiting spiritually like God wants us to, 00:36:19.62\00:36:22.77 now keep something in mind when you come to 00:36:23.27\00:36:24.91 the Bible and you think about us being bread. 00:36:24.92\00:36:27.16 You know that there was bread and then 00:36:28.33\00:36:31.95 there is bread you knew that right. 00:36:31.96\00:36:33.89 Not a bread you make at home with the whole 00:36:34.66\00:36:37.17 wheat and maybe you get extra fancy and you 00:36:37.18\00:36:40.65 make it out of little sprouts 00:36:41.40\00:36:43.19 or something like that. Oh! That's good 00:36:43.20\00:36:45.44 now there is, there is some substance to that. 00:36:45.83\00:36:47.71 If you drop that I mean you get your foot out of 00:36:48.23\00:36:50.92 the way I mean there is something in there. 00:36:50.93\00:36:53.18 I'm not talking about the real bad bread that, 00:36:54.72\00:36:56.48 that healthy bread that really taste super 00:36:56.69\00:36:59.08 healthy, I don't mean that. But I mean that good, 00:36:59.09\00:37:02.16 good bread there's some substance to it right, 00:37:02.17\00:37:04.55 there is something in it, but long ago somebody 00:37:04.75\00:37:07.30 got a bright idea. If we take a grain of 00:37:07.31\00:37:09.98 wheat and take out everything that's good 00:37:09.99\00:37:14.37 and then make bread out of the fluff that's 00:37:15.30\00:37:18.49 left, maybe we'll sell and sell it did like, 00:37:18.50\00:37:23.16 that stuff I mean if you put on your plate, 00:37:23.44\00:37:26.63 if you don't put enough peanut butter on it, 00:37:26.64\00:37:28.46 it will levitate right up off the plate, 00:37:29.14\00:37:30.64 how many of you have ever seen that. 00:37:30.65\00:37:31.69 It will levitate, right up you see there is bread 00:37:32.34\00:37:38.06 and bread someone said is not an original thought. 00:37:38.07\00:37:40.58 But somebody said, there is some bread you 00:37:41.24\00:37:44.04 would get more nutritional benefit if 00:37:44.05\00:37:46.23 you threw the bread out and ate the wrapper that 00:37:46.24\00:37:48.32 the bread came in. You know what I'm 00:37:48.33\00:37:50.10 talking about, if you just had a diet of just 00:37:50.11\00:37:55.40 that white bread no whole wheat in there, 00:37:55.41\00:38:00.01 if that's all you have you would ended up 00:38:00.17\00:38:03.35 probably sick, end up unwell. 00:38:04.13\00:38:06.29 Little bit of that, that's okay but that's what you 00:38:06.65\00:38:09.54 majored in, you wouldn't do well. 00:38:09.55\00:38:11.94 If got to get some refuge into your diet, 00:38:12.93\00:38:17.93 isn't that right? You've got to get 00:38:18.26\00:38:20.59 when we come to the Bible there is a 00:38:21.29\00:38:24.48 tendency for some people to have a white 00:38:24.49\00:38:26.88 bread religion and they graze through the Bible 00:38:26.89\00:38:30.71 like, a buffet, you know buffet is great. 00:38:31.29\00:38:34.10 When you were a child your mother said 00:38:34.90\00:38:36.17 eat that and eat that and eat that and so. 00:38:36.18\00:38:38.92 My brother, I never did tell you this did I, 00:38:40.11\00:38:43.03 my brother I didn't go back even further 00:38:43.41\00:38:47.52 my mother had a, had a way of cooking cabbage 00:38:47.96\00:38:51.04 when I was a child and she would put in the pot 00:38:51.05\00:38:54.96 and, and murder the cabbage, 00:38:55.67\00:38:58.43 torture the cabbage, when it came out it was, 00:38:59.36\00:39:01.95 it was, it was white and it was nasty. 00:39:02.07\00:39:06.55 And she would say now eat that cabbage 00:39:07.60\00:39:09.18 and there were times that we just, 00:39:09.77\00:39:11.17 we would sit there till 8 O'clock at night looking 00:39:11.18\00:39:14.29 at the cabbage, being a good boy I would eat 00:39:14.30\00:39:18.32 the cabbage, my brother would take the plate 00:39:18.33\00:39:20.42 over to the trash can. And he would now this 00:39:20.43\00:39:23.62 is an education for any child wanting to sneak 00:39:23.63\00:39:27.91 around behind the parents back and he 00:39:27.92\00:39:29.43 would lift up the trash and the trash can put his 00:39:29.44\00:39:32.08 cabbage in there and then covered it back up 00:39:32.09\00:39:33.59 and say I have done because my father 00:39:33.60\00:39:35.41 would go look in the trash can. 00:39:35.42\00:39:36.60 Well, where I was going with this, 00:39:37.02\00:39:40.41 the cabbage would be cooked to death. 00:39:41.74\00:39:43.30 There was a reason I was telling you this 00:39:43.31\00:39:44.89 and a very good reason, the Lord might even 00:39:45.27\00:39:48.92 help me remember what the reason was. 00:39:48.93\00:39:50.54 You got to get some refuge in your diet, 00:39:55.43\00:39:58.06 you had to eat the cabbage but when you 00:39:58.61\00:40:00.20 went to buffet when you were older you saw. 00:40:00.21\00:40:02.75 I don't know if anyone put boiled cabbage on 00:40:02.99\00:40:04.50 the buffet, but you saw some of that and said 00:40:04.51\00:40:05.88 I am not eating that my mother 00:40:05.89\00:40:06.99 is not here to make me. 00:40:07.00\00:40:08.55 Some people do that with the Bible, 00:40:10.64\00:40:12.13 they skip through the Bible and they say 00:40:12.71\00:40:14.09 well I take a little loaf, I think little graze, 00:40:14.33\00:40:17.13 a little of the gospel of John and I kind of like a 00:40:17.58\00:40:20.19 proverbs, some of them I like the Psalms 00:40:20.20\00:40:23.31 that's my Bible. That's no way to take 00:40:23.63\00:40:26.99 the word of God is it? God gave it all for us 00:40:27.00\00:40:30.22 it all good, it's all in our favor, sometimes it will 00:40:30.42\00:40:34.60 rub your further wrong way, sometimes it will 00:40:34.61\00:40:37.47 step on yours toes. But that's okay if it's 00:40:37.48\00:40:40.98 the word of God we need it and we need it 00:40:40.99\00:40:45.19 all, every time I turn around today, 00:40:45.49\00:40:47.52 I am hearing about somebody down on the 00:40:47.53\00:40:49.70 word of God I just read today about a popular 00:40:49.71\00:40:52.65 young evangelical pastor who has got 00:40:52.66\00:40:55.53 tongues wagging in the evangelical world. 00:40:55.54\00:40:58.02 By writing a book in which he suggests that 00:40:58.46\00:41:01.16 there might possibly be no hell and that maybe 00:41:01.17\00:41:04.91 at the end of the day everybody is gonna saved. 00:41:04.92\00:41:07.66 Now, where in the world are you coming 00:41:09.25\00:41:12.46 from with an idea like that, you've got a want 00:41:12.47\00:41:16.16 to reject parts of the Bible in order to write 00:41:16.44\00:41:19.30 something like that? Somebody told me 00:41:19.31\00:41:21.54 recently that his pastor, pastor of a great big 00:41:21.55\00:41:23.52 church made it clear. Oh no, no there were never 00:41:23.53\00:41:27.22 come a time when anyone of God's people 00:41:27.23\00:41:30.27 could possibly give up sinning 00:41:30.28\00:41:32.77 and give up disobeying God. 00:41:32.89\00:41:34.88 By the way if you think like that it certainly 00:41:34.89\00:41:39.17 won't happen but if that would true what are we 00:41:39.18\00:41:41.15 gonna do with Revelation chapter 14 00:41:41.16\00:41:42.77 and verse 12: Here are they that keep the 00:41:43.85\00:41:46.75 commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. 00:41:46.76\00:41:49.83 I know there is always room for honest 00:41:50.12\00:41:53.40 disagreement among people who look at a 00:41:53.41\00:41:55.66 verse, you're looking at from this angle and 00:41:55.67\00:41:57.69 I am looking at from that angle and because 00:41:57.70\00:41:59.56 we are different. And we are in different 00:41:59.57\00:42:01.01 places we don't see everything alike, 00:42:01.02\00:42:02.77 there is room for honest disagreement but 00:42:03.03\00:42:05.25 friends there is no room for rejecting the word 00:42:05.26\00:42:08.88 of God, taking what you like 00:42:08.89\00:42:11.04 rejecting what you are don't. 00:42:11.29\00:42:12.89 We are to live by every word that proceeds 00:42:13.22\00:42:16.66 from out of the mouth of God, could you say amen? 00:42:16.67\00:42:18.40 Amen. Well, I thank God for that, that bread 00:42:18.79\00:42:20.88 was there to remind people that Christ the 00:42:20.89\00:42:22.68 Messiah was the bread of life it was made by 00:42:22.69\00:42:25.54 flour that had been beaten down Jesus had 00:42:25.55\00:42:27.98 been bruised or would be bruised for our iniquity 00:42:27.99\00:42:30.97 and there is something I like about this. 00:42:31.14\00:42:32.84 The bread was in there every day of the week, 00:42:34.04\00:42:36.47 but they were two little piles of six loafs twelve 00:42:37.82\00:42:41.09 in each and they replaced the old bread 00:42:41.10\00:42:44.34 with fresh bread you know what other day of 00:42:44.70\00:42:47.16 the week they did that on, on the Sabbath, 00:42:47.17\00:42:49.94 which says to me that if God's people want fresh 00:42:50.32\00:42:53.91 bread they ought to get themselves down to the 00:42:53.92\00:42:56.50 sanctuary on the Sabbath day. 00:42:56.51\00:42:59.23 So, it's also a challenge to the preachers, 00:42:59.80\00:43:01.08 the preachers in the sanctuary on the 00:43:01.09\00:43:03.09 Sabbath ought to be serving up fresh bread 00:43:03.10\00:43:05.42 for the people of God. That's true we've got to 00:43:05.66\00:43:07.86 remember that, now there was a Lamp-stand 00:43:08.76\00:43:11.50 in the sanctuary, the table of Shewbread told 00:43:11.51\00:43:13.93 us about Jesus, the bread of life. 00:43:13.94\00:43:18.11 Jesus essential for our daily lives, 00:43:18.32\00:43:21.64 Jesus essential for our spiritual well being then 00:43:21.98\00:43:25.48 the Lamp-stand, made from beaten gold, 00:43:25.49\00:43:28.41 interesting each branch of the seven branch 00:43:28.42\00:43:32.37 candlestick had beautiful ornaments 00:43:32.38\00:43:34.57 carved on to it or designed into it on each 00:43:34.84\00:43:37.37 of those seven branches there were almonds 00:43:37.38\00:43:39.58 which is fascinating that God 00:43:39.85\00:43:41.58 chose to put almonds there. 00:43:41.59\00:43:43.42 What do they called, what do they called the 00:43:44.78\00:43:45.92 almond tree back in Jewish days now I write 00:43:45.93\00:43:49.21 it down here I think I did yes the awakener, 00:43:49.22\00:43:52.12 the awakener. I have driven through 00:43:53.01\00:43:54.84 California in the early, early before is this right 00:43:54.85\00:43:58.93 before spring or early spring? 00:43:58.94\00:44:00.56 Early in the session and everything else was 00:44:00.89\00:44:03.17 dead as anything. And there these beautiful 00:44:03.33\00:44:05.39 trees covered in white blossoms. 00:44:05.40\00:44:08.02 The almond tree is the awakener; 00:44:08.68\00:44:10.86 it's the first one back from the dead, 00:44:11.25\00:44:14.41 if you like at points that Jesus the 00:44:14.58\00:44:17.04 first born of the dead. Now, the first fruits of 00:44:17.05\00:44:19.92 them that sleep in the grave, the almond tree, 00:44:19.93\00:44:23.59 the almonds on the seven branch 00:44:24.07\00:44:25.92 candlestick speak about Jesus the one who is the 00:44:25.93\00:44:29.39 resurrection and the life. And that candlestick 00:44:29.40\00:44:32.04 was in the sanctuary for a reason, 00:44:32.05\00:44:33.92 it was there to defuse light. 00:44:34.35\00:44:37.07 And what is Jesus? He is the light of the world 00:44:38.79\00:44:42.21 and then Jesus said you are the light of the world. 00:44:42.56\00:44:47.03 Now, how in the world can we 00:44:48.09\00:44:49.15 be the light of the world. 00:44:49.16\00:44:50.21 When Jesus is the light of the world, 00:44:51.01\00:44:53.13 Colossians 1 and verse 27 tells us about the 00:44:53.69\00:44:55.94 mystery of the gospel, it is Christ in you the 00:44:55.95\00:44:59.85 hope of glory. When Christ gets in you 00:44:59.86\00:45:03.28 He shines out of you when my boy was little 00:45:03.66\00:45:06.11 and it was just getting on a solid fruits first he 00:45:06.66\00:45:08.97 give that little what is that the little corn or 00:45:08.98\00:45:11.70 wheat or something around that, instead of 00:45:11.71\00:45:13.67 cereal you give him. Now then when he was 00:45:13.68\00:45:15.91 getting bigger and more adventures, 00:45:15.92\00:45:17.34 we discovered that he likes sweet potato, 00:45:18.11\00:45:19.65 the more he like more we gave hi, the more 00:45:20.45\00:45:22.04 we gave him, the more he like it until there was 00:45:22.05\00:45:24.17 this incredible transformation, 00:45:24.18\00:45:25.37 his nose turned orange and, and really his 00:45:25.75\00:45:28.43 whole face not his whole face but his 00:45:28.44\00:45:30.69 whole face was orange. The sweet potato got in 00:45:30.70\00:45:34.40 and the sweet potato was shinning out, 00:45:34.41\00:45:36.53 it was making a difference when Jesus 00:45:37.35\00:45:39.49 gets in to you and me, he is gonna shine out, 00:45:39.83\00:45:42.74 we won't be what we used to be. 00:45:43.16\00:45:44.63 Christ changes us powerfully and now 00:45:45.00\00:45:48.70 with Christ in us Jesus can save us you are the 00:45:48.71\00:45:52.29 light of the world, thank the Lord for that. 00:45:52.48\00:45:56.46 Now, keep in mind Jesus wants us to be 00:45:56.95\00:45:58.59 light, the light makes a difference if we turned 00:45:58.60\00:46:03.10 the lights up where would we be. 00:46:03.11\00:46:05.07 We will be in the dark, turned the lights on, 00:46:06.24\00:46:08.51 what happens to the darkness? 00:46:08.85\00:46:10.10 It just runs away, the darkness flees, 00:46:11.05\00:46:14.03 light scatters before the light of the morning 00:46:14.04\00:46:17.27 sunrise you understand. Now, Jesus said I want 00:46:17.28\00:46:21.87 you to make a difference in this world. 00:46:21.88\00:46:23.25 Now we are to be light but you know that light 00:46:23.90\00:46:25.70 is simply a form of energy. 00:46:25.71\00:46:27.13 Electromagnetic energy. 00:46:28.61\00:46:30.12 It's energy that people can see. 00:46:30.13\00:46:31.96 Now I believe that when the energy of 00:46:33.77\00:46:35.54 Jesus gets into us. He wants us to make 00:46:35.55\00:46:39.83 a difference, so I will not just light but also 00:46:39.84\00:46:43.08 salt, salt is tasty, makes a 00:46:43.09\00:46:47.39 difference when you add salt. 00:46:47.40\00:46:48.71 Salt can't be present without making 00:46:49.84\00:46:52.10 a difference that's just what it's like. 00:46:52.11\00:46:54.10 Now, I'm gonna tell you what God is saying go 00:46:54.69\00:46:56.74 and be what my persuasion leads me 00:46:56.75\00:47:00.91 to what saying is that, what God is saying 00:47:00.92\00:47:02.37 here's what I will do in your life. 00:47:02.73\00:47:06.23 Now, in His book The Apocalyptic Vision 00:47:07.77\00:47:09.88 and the Neutering of Adventism, 00:47:09.89\00:47:11.15 George Knight talked about people who were 00:47:11.33\00:47:14.17 guilty of committing the sin of Bible study. 00:47:14.18\00:47:17.04 Now, I'm faithfully reproducing what he is 00:47:19.91\00:47:21.75 said and I may just mangle it a little bit but 00:47:21.76\00:47:24.67 he is hopping I get it right. 00:47:24.68\00:47:25.75 He said the sin of Bible study as when people 00:47:26.54\00:47:28.62 study and study and study and study the 00:47:28.63\00:47:30.47 Bible, but that's it instead of putting that 00:47:30.48\00:47:33.80 in use and sharing that with others and going 00:47:33.81\00:47:36.18 and showing and sharing Christ with the 00:47:36.19\00:47:37.66 world, they just study and it's 00:47:37.67\00:47:39.48 like you know, it's like a kind of 00:47:39.49\00:47:41.38 spiritual gluttony, spiritual obesity. 00:47:41.39\00:47:43.57 Jesus wants to come into our lives so that 00:47:45.78\00:47:47.78 He can get out of our lives, somebody writing 00:47:47.79\00:47:49.83 in the Review and Herald long time ago 00:47:49.84\00:47:52.40 said, there is a constant tendency among the 00:47:52.41\00:47:56.02 trees of the Lord to be more 00:47:56.03\00:47:57.56 profuse in foliage then in fruit. 00:48:00.23\00:48:01.20 When Christ gets into the life fruit will be 00:48:03.00\00:48:05.70 there, the fruit of the spirit must be where 00:48:05.71\00:48:07.97 Christ Holy Spirit is and we can go and bear 00:48:07.98\00:48:10.64 fruit for God's glory by His grace. 00:48:10.65\00:48:13.39 You see what God is doing, he's saying to the 00:48:15.27\00:48:17.69 sinner come to the sanctuary. 00:48:17.70\00:48:19.01 Now that sinner would make the walk of shame 00:48:19.74\00:48:21.35 from the camp of Israel out there, a cross that 00:48:21.36\00:48:23.71 open space and inside into the courtyard of the 00:48:23.72\00:48:26.78 sanctuary complex. And there was walk of 00:48:26.79\00:48:29.79 shame because his neighbors were saying 00:48:29.80\00:48:31.26 ooh ooh guess who's being up the something 00:48:31.27\00:48:33.89 and of course it was gonna cost 00:48:35.50\00:48:36.66 his family something. Maybe they priced 00:48:36.67\00:48:39.41 lamb, maybe even a pet lamb, cost them some 00:48:39.42\00:48:43.22 money, cost them some shame and he might 00:48:43.23\00:48:45.45 even be embarrassed. But God was saying 00:48:45.46\00:48:48.92 when you come down here and the lamb dies 00:48:49.20\00:48:51.09 there is a way back to the throne room for you. 00:48:51.29\00:48:54.12 There is a way back to my heart, there's a way 00:48:54.78\00:48:57.84 back to oneness with me you know we call 00:48:57.85\00:49:01.18 the last day, the Hebrew here the Day of 00:49:01.19\00:49:03.03 Atonement, the Day of Atonement. 00:49:03.24\00:49:04.78 The sanctuary was designed so that a 00:49:05.11\00:49:07.70 rotten, weak, lazy, wretched, sinner could 00:49:07.71\00:49:12.38 through the mercy and the grace of God be 00:49:12.39\00:49:15.26 connected with God and made to be at one with 00:49:15.27\00:49:19.14 God in spite of his or her failings. 00:49:19.60\00:49:22.92 The alter of incense, it was called the altar of 00:49:23.98\00:49:25.75 continual and decision, it represented the 00:49:25.76\00:49:27.90 prayers of God's people ascending 00:49:28.07\00:49:30.08 continually, continually. 00:49:30.49\00:49:32.72 Oh! I need to say, the altar of 00:49:32.97\00:49:35.62 the seven branch candlestick was fed by 00:49:36.27\00:49:38.45 olive oil, that's a symbol of the Holy Spirit 00:49:38.46\00:49:40.79 we'll only be bright for the Lord when the 00:49:41.27\00:49:43.53 Holy Spirit comes into our lives what the Jesus 00:49:43.54\00:49:46.22 say he will give the Holy Spirit to us when 00:49:46.23\00:49:49.04 we ask for the Holy Spirit. 00:49:49.05\00:49:51.22 Now, let me jump over here again, that altar of 00:49:51.61\00:49:55.06 incense the prayer is going, now Paul said what? 00:49:55.07\00:49:57.07 Pray without ceasing, I got to tell you I know 00:49:57.49\00:50:00.89 its busy, life is busy you have a late night, 00:50:00.90\00:50:02.90 early morning you jump out of the bed 00:50:03.37\00:50:04.75 we will talk later and that could happen days 00:50:06.48\00:50:10.07 all in, if you led it and you can get out of the 00:50:10.08\00:50:12.77 grove and pray can become a hit and midst thing. 00:50:12.78\00:50:16.24 Someone said to me recently God bless him, 00:50:16.43\00:50:18.04 he said you know in the morning well I take like 00:50:18.05\00:50:19.95 five minutes to pray, brother, five minutes, 00:50:20.09\00:50:23.79 I am barely done saying hello to 00:50:24.51\00:50:26.01 God after five minutes. You got to take time 00:50:26.02\00:50:29.39 to pray, pray without ceasing, no don't live on 00:50:29.40\00:50:32.13 your knees but spiritually keep the 00:50:32.14\00:50:34.38 communication open between us and God. 00:50:34.39\00:50:37.45 God says in the sanctuary, there's bread, 00:50:37.78\00:50:43.50 Christ, there is the seven branch 00:50:43.85\00:50:47.25 candlestick Christ, there's the prayers of 00:50:47.26\00:50:51.09 God's people going up. The spirit of God 00:50:51.10\00:50:53.96 intercedes for us with groaning which cannot 00:50:53.97\00:50:56.36 be uttered, this sanctuary is about what 00:50:56.37\00:50:59.52 God will do in the life of an individual to bring 00:50:59.53\00:51:02.76 her, to bring him back to oneness with God, 00:51:02.77\00:51:05.78 we'll talk more about the most holy place 00:51:05.79\00:51:07.69 another time.
