I got a membership at a fitness center 00:00:01.36\00:00:02.96 and I'm feeling great exercise and feeling good, 00:00:03.00\00:00:05.87 and I have, still have a free pass. 00:00:05.90\00:00:08.44 So I called one of our buddies to mine. 00:00:08.47\00:00:09.97 I said, "Man, why don't you come with me 00:00:10.01\00:00:12.91 and get some good exercise and feel good about yourself?" 00:00:12.94\00:00:15.78 He says, "Well, great. 00:00:15.81\00:00:17.58 Where are we gonna go? 00:00:17.61\00:00:18.95 A Burger King, McDonald's?" 00:00:18.98\00:00:21.48 "They don't have any equipment there," 00:00:21.52\00:00:23.39 I told him. 00:00:23.42\00:00:24.75 And he said, "Oh, I thought you said extra fries. 00:00:24.79\00:00:31.66 Today's program is entitled E for exercise. 00:00:31.69\00:00:36.23 We'll be right back. 00:00:36.26\00:00:37.60 Hi, welcome to Abundant Living. 00:00:59.19\00:01:00.69 Yes, my name is Curtis Eakins 00:01:00.72\00:01:02.26 and my wife has just finished laughing. 00:01:02.29\00:01:03.96 You got yourself together now 00:01:03.99\00:01:05.33 with the extra fries and exercise. 00:01:05.36\00:01:07.96 Paula Eakins. 00:01:08.00\00:01:09.33 Okay, you barely got that one out, okay. 00:01:09.36\00:01:11.67 Anyway I'm glad that you're with us 00:01:11.70\00:01:13.90 just today and you know, 00:01:13.94\00:01:16.47 that's what I call selective hearing. 00:01:16.50\00:01:19.21 Prime example of selective hearing. 00:01:19.24\00:01:22.48 I can't believe you. 00:01:22.51\00:01:23.85 About the extra fries. 00:01:23.88\00:01:25.95 He actually hung up on me. 00:01:25.98\00:01:27.52 A click. 00:01:27.55\00:01:29.22 My friends were totally hurt. 00:01:29.25\00:01:30.89 He did not exercise for sure. 00:01:30.92\00:01:32.25 I don't think he'd go with the class. 00:01:32.29\00:01:33.62 No, he may even go to the extra fries, 00:01:33.66\00:01:34.99 but not the exercise. 00:01:35.02\00:01:36.36 I don't know... 00:01:36.39\00:01:37.73 I don't know, you know, what can we do, Honey. 00:01:37.76\00:01:39.13 We try to help people out. I know. 00:01:39.16\00:01:40.80 I mean, I got this free pass, free of charge, my buddy, 00:01:40.83\00:01:45.30 he said, he want to work out 00:01:45.33\00:01:46.67 but selective hearing now that's a case in point. 00:01:46.70\00:01:49.77 What can I say? 00:01:49.80\00:01:51.14 What are we talking about today? 00:01:51.17\00:01:52.51 Well, today let's... We're talking about... 00:01:52.54\00:01:54.84 Now this is a series we've been doing for a last, 00:01:54.88\00:01:57.68 like several weeks on the acronym HEALERS. 00:01:57.71\00:02:01.28 HEALERS, all right. 00:02:01.32\00:02:02.65 A lot of people taking medication 00:02:02.68\00:02:04.05 and so these HEALERS this acronym, 00:02:04.09\00:02:06.25 H is for herbal medicine, we covered that already. 00:02:06.29\00:02:08.82 E is for eating, 00:02:08.86\00:02:10.43 A is for adoration, L for liquids. 00:02:10.46\00:02:12.49 Now the other E is for exercise. 00:02:12.53\00:02:16.10 So we're gonna be talking about exercise, 00:02:16.13\00:02:17.57 and it's gonna be wonderful this topic here. 00:02:17.60\00:02:20.87 And also we got three tiers of credibility. 00:02:20.90\00:02:23.77 Tier number one is, of course, 00:02:23.81\00:02:25.14 is God's Word, the standard of truth. 00:02:25.17\00:02:27.91 And tier number two is our featured author 00:02:27.94\00:02:30.38 that we're featuring throughout this series is Ellen White, 00:02:30.41\00:02:33.31 a lot of people know about her. 00:02:33.35\00:02:35.18 And then the last tier of credibility 00:02:35.22\00:02:37.45 is clinical studies, 00:02:37.49\00:02:39.25 the scientific literature as well. 00:02:39.29\00:02:40.99 So that would be the foundation 00:02:41.02\00:02:42.49 of our references for this series. 00:02:42.52\00:02:45.23 Now it's a good thing you said those three, 00:02:45.26\00:02:46.76 because now all the rest of those ones 00:02:46.80\00:02:49.46 like when he said, she said in and that, 00:02:49.50\00:02:51.70 all other kind of stuff. 00:02:51.73\00:02:53.07 That's not a part of it. I read it. 00:02:53.10\00:02:54.44 You remember now 00:02:54.47\00:02:55.80 we've been going down this thing, 00:02:55.84\00:02:57.17 so it's just a three tiers. 00:02:57.21\00:02:58.54 That three tiers and I think we gonna stop in three tiers... 00:02:58.57\00:02:59.91 Okay. 00:02:59.94\00:03:01.28 And we also may have some personal experiences as well. 00:03:01.31\00:03:02.64 Absolutely. Yeah, so. 00:03:02.68\00:03:04.01 Right. You know, we already start... 00:03:04.05\00:03:05.38 We talk about this all the time, 00:03:05.41\00:03:06.75 I hope you have your Bible with you, 00:03:06.78\00:03:08.12 because we're going straight to the Word of God 00:03:08.15\00:03:09.48 to see what does the Bible have to say about exercise. 00:03:09.52\00:03:10.85 Okay. 00:03:10.89\00:03:12.22 And now throughout this series, we do... 00:03:12.25\00:03:13.72 We're working all of our workbook here 00:03:13.76\00:03:16.79 is called the Seven Powerful Healers. 00:03:16.83\00:03:18.66 And we'll be having a webinar or shortly as well. 00:03:18.69\00:03:21.86 But so I'm gonna read straight from our workbook on exercise. 00:03:21.90\00:03:25.20 Now, this is very important. 00:03:25.23\00:03:27.00 I want to read this in Genesis 2:15. 00:03:27.04\00:03:30.31 Genesis 2:15, this is the NIV version. 00:03:30.34\00:03:34.38 It says here, 00:03:34.41\00:03:35.94 "The Lord God took the man and a woman 00:03:35.98\00:03:39.98 and put him and her in the Garden of Eden," 00:03:40.02\00:03:44.69 now here it is, "to work it and take care of it." 00:03:44.72\00:03:51.53 Now, in the Hebrew, 00:03:51.56\00:03:54.26 the words work it and take care of it 00:03:54.30\00:03:57.10 means that they were engaged 00:03:57.13\00:03:59.47 in some type of physical activity. 00:03:59.50\00:04:03.81 Now, I'm stressing this because keep in mind, 00:04:03.84\00:04:07.21 this is before sin, before the fall. 00:04:07.24\00:04:12.95 So God in His infinite wisdom 00:04:12.98\00:04:14.72 realized that even before sin, 00:04:14.92\00:04:17.79 it is necessary for them 00:04:17.82\00:04:19.89 to engage in some type of physical activity. 00:04:19.92\00:04:23.26 That quickly God realized that we would not be totally happy, 00:04:23.29\00:04:26.36 Adam would not be totally happy 00:04:26.39\00:04:27.80 unless he engaged in physical activities. 00:04:27.83\00:04:31.03 I'm stressing the words before sin, before the fall, 00:04:31.07\00:04:36.64 so a very important part that is concerned. 00:04:36.67\00:04:38.74 So now we're in a sinful state 00:04:38.77\00:04:41.18 is probably even more critical than Adam 00:04:41.21\00:04:44.55 before the fall, before sin. 00:04:44.58\00:04:47.05 All right. Okay. 00:04:47.08\00:04:48.42 So therefore, 00:04:48.45\00:04:49.78 'cause people think they were just in the Garden of Eden 00:04:49.82\00:04:51.15 and just still playing with animals 00:04:51.19\00:04:53.99 and eating fruit and whatever, 00:04:54.02\00:04:55.62 but they were working as well in the garden. 00:04:55.66\00:04:59.53 I like that word to work it, to dress it. 00:04:59.56\00:05:01.96 And then also to take care of it. 00:05:02.00\00:05:03.70 That means, they were engaged on a routine basis, 00:05:03.73\00:05:07.87 continually exercising their limbs. 00:05:07.90\00:05:11.24 When you do that, 00:05:11.27\00:05:12.61 you exercise also the internal organs. 00:05:12.64\00:05:14.58 Okay. God knew that. 00:05:14.61\00:05:16.14 That's why God placed them in the Garden of Eden 00:05:16.18\00:05:18.41 to do those things. 00:05:18.45\00:05:19.88 Okay, now we also have another one. 00:05:19.91\00:05:21.25 Is that another one we're gonna be doing right now? 00:05:21.28\00:05:22.85 We wanna talk about Isaiah 00:05:22.88\00:05:24.22 or we gonna do that a little bit later on? 00:05:24.25\00:05:25.59 Well, about heaven or what? 00:05:25.62\00:05:26.96 Isaiah 65:21-22. Yeah. 00:05:26.99\00:05:29.39 Now, let's go to heaven. Okay. 00:05:29.42\00:05:31.93 And now this is going to be interesting as well, 00:05:31.96\00:05:34.30 because this gonna bring out the point 00:05:34.33\00:05:36.10 even further state on. 00:05:36.13\00:05:37.47 I'm gonna read directly from our workbook here, 00:05:37.50\00:05:41.44 Isaiah 65:21-22. 00:05:41.47\00:05:45.17 Mm-hmm. 00:05:45.21\00:05:46.54 Here it is, NIV, get this now. 00:05:46.57\00:05:49.71 They will build houses and dwell in them. 00:05:49.74\00:05:55.22 Talking about the New Jerusalem, New Earth, 00:05:55.25\00:05:57.35 they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit. 00:05:57.39\00:06:02.72 No longer will they build houses 00:06:02.76\00:06:04.63 and others live in them, 00:06:04.66\00:06:07.76 or plant and others eat. 00:06:07.80\00:06:11.53 My chosen ones will long enjoy, 00:06:11.57\00:06:14.37 will long enjoy the works of their hands. 00:06:14.40\00:06:18.87 Now, at face value, this seemed to be a problem. 00:06:18.91\00:06:24.51 Because if we read John Chapter 14, 00:06:24.55\00:06:28.48 Jesus says to disciples, "I go away. 00:06:28.52\00:06:32.55 In my Father's house..." Many mansions. 00:06:32.59\00:06:36.39 "Are many mansions." 00:06:36.42\00:06:37.76 Mm-hmm. 00:06:37.79\00:06:39.16 Now, if there're mansions already 00:06:39.19\00:06:42.83 in My Father's house, 00:06:42.86\00:06:44.30 Jesus said, many mansions. 00:06:44.33\00:06:48.47 Why in the world are we building houses 00:06:48.50\00:06:53.81 when there're mansions in heaven? 00:06:53.84\00:06:58.01 I mean, you got a mansion, 00:06:58.05\00:07:00.22 presumably it's bigger than a house. 00:07:00.25\00:07:01.58 Yeah. 00:07:01.62\00:07:02.95 So if we have a mansion, 00:07:02.98\00:07:04.32 then what's the purpose of us building houses? 00:07:04.35\00:07:09.09 Rebecca just said she... 00:07:09.12\00:07:10.53 that they're waiting? 00:07:10.56\00:07:11.89 They're waiting? They're waiting for the answer. 00:07:11.93\00:07:13.26 I'm gonna let them stay there just for a little while. 00:07:13.29\00:07:15.63 There's another reason for this. 00:07:15.66\00:07:17.03 Again, before sin 00:07:17.07\00:07:19.60 man was engaged in physical activity. 00:07:19.63\00:07:22.80 Now after sin, 00:07:22.84\00:07:24.87 God saw it necessary again 00:07:24.91\00:07:27.38 to engage in physical activity, 00:07:27.41\00:07:29.88 therefore, this is my assumption. 00:07:29.91\00:07:32.71 We have a mansion here. Mm-hmm. 00:07:32.75\00:07:34.65 We have some other houses on the side. 00:07:34.68\00:07:36.02 Oh! 00:07:36.05\00:07:37.39 Maybe a summer and fall 00:07:37.42\00:07:38.75 or we may not have any season in heaven. 00:07:38.79\00:07:40.12 That's it. 00:07:40.16\00:07:41.49 Yeah, yeah, but the point of it is, 00:07:41.52\00:07:42.86 God in His infinite wisdom realized that even in heaven, 00:07:42.89\00:07:47.33 we will be engaged in physical activity, 00:07:47.36\00:07:51.37 not only building houses, 00:07:51.40\00:07:52.97 but also planting vineyards, 00:07:53.00\00:07:56.71 that was necessary before sin on earth, 00:07:56.74\00:07:59.74 it's also necessary after sin in heaven. 00:07:59.77\00:08:03.75 Therefore, it goes to tell you that 00:08:03.78\00:08:06.18 this is necessary for us to engage in physical activity. 00:08:06.21\00:08:09.58 Now, because we're in a sinful state now, 00:08:09.62\00:08:13.15 it's even more critical for us 00:08:13.19\00:08:15.42 to engage in physical activity than ever before. 00:08:15.46\00:08:18.69 So these two texts alone tells us that exercise, 00:08:18.73\00:08:23.23 physical activity is critical, 00:08:23.26\00:08:25.60 yay even necessary for our overall well being. 00:08:25.63\00:08:30.81 Well, I like the idea what you said, 00:08:30.84\00:08:33.11 we got a mansion and we're going to be... 00:08:33.14\00:08:35.11 They said build and nobody else is going to inhabit it. 00:08:35.14\00:08:37.75 So that means we will have more than one. 00:08:37.78\00:08:40.58 And also that text also tells me 00:08:40.62\00:08:42.95 that there would be no freeloaders. 00:08:42.98\00:08:44.62 Oh! 00:08:44.65\00:08:45.99 Now, okay, you build and you finish, 00:08:46.02\00:08:47.36 you call me, I'll just move on it. 00:08:47.39\00:08:48.72 No, you build your own house, you live in your own house. 00:08:48.76\00:08:51.79 I mean, read the text. 00:08:51.83\00:08:54.20 That's in here too. 00:08:54.23\00:08:55.56 You know, you plant a vineyard and call me, 00:08:55.60\00:08:56.97 then I'll go get your grapes. 00:08:57.00\00:08:58.33 No, you plant your own vineyard. 00:08:58.37\00:08:59.73 So everyone will be engaged in physical activity. 00:08:59.77\00:09:02.00 They all have good attitudes there. 00:09:02.04\00:09:03.37 A good attitude, yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. 00:09:03.41\00:09:05.11 Okay, so what are some of the main reasons 00:09:05.14\00:09:07.34 that people become invalids? 00:09:07.38\00:09:09.61 This is one main reason... 00:09:09.64\00:09:11.31 I want to put this on the screen. 00:09:11.35\00:09:12.68 Here's a graphic that we're gonna put on the screen. 00:09:12.71\00:09:14.82 And I'm gonna read this, 00:09:14.85\00:09:16.18 so let's go to the screen at this time. 00:09:16.22\00:09:17.55 Here it is, 00:09:17.59\00:09:20.29 "Inactivity prevents blood to circulate freely, 00:09:20.32\00:09:26.09 this throws a double burden 00:09:26.13\00:09:29.93 on the respiratory organs 00:09:29.96\00:09:32.90 and disease is the result." 00:09:32.93\00:09:36.57 Ministry of Healing, page 238. 00:09:36.60\00:09:40.24 So, when we have inactivity, 00:09:40.28\00:09:44.41 there's no movement of the body, 00:09:44.45\00:09:46.82 no exercise at all, 00:09:46.85\00:09:48.88 the blood does not circulate freely as it should. 00:09:48.92\00:09:52.65 That's the problem number one. 00:09:52.69\00:09:54.59 What makes it even more objectionably doubly... 00:09:54.62\00:09:57.89 objectionably is that it puts a double burden 00:09:57.93\00:10:02.16 on the organs of excretion. 00:10:02.20\00:10:04.60 Being the organs of the lung, 00:10:04.63\00:10:07.47 the liver, the kidney, the skin, 00:10:07.50\00:10:12.01 the large intestine, 00:10:12.04\00:10:13.38 all these are organs of excretion, 00:10:13.41\00:10:15.48 so therefore, when we have inactivity, 00:10:15.51\00:10:18.21 all the waste that should be removed 00:10:18.25\00:10:21.68 stays in the system because of a lack of exercise. 00:10:21.72\00:10:25.95 E for exercise is a very powerful healer, 00:10:25.99\00:10:30.19 just moving those limbs 00:10:30.23\00:10:31.56 and we stated that in the Word of God, 00:10:31.59\00:10:34.73 even before sin entered the world. 00:10:34.76\00:10:38.23 So now we're in a sinful state 00:10:38.27\00:10:40.40 is even more important now than before sin. 00:10:40.44\00:10:44.87 So I know somebody is asking a question, 00:10:44.91\00:10:46.37 and we're talking about exercise and working, 00:10:46.41\00:10:48.54 so which is more beneficial? 00:10:48.58\00:10:52.15 The walking, running, which one, you know, 00:10:52.18\00:10:57.32 is because you're saying move the limb, so... 00:10:57.35\00:10:59.32 Right. 00:10:59.35\00:11:00.92 Now... What if... 00:11:00.96\00:11:02.49 What if I'm not a runner? 00:11:02.52\00:11:03.86 Yeah. 00:11:03.89\00:11:06.63 So which is more important or do they have the same bit? 00:11:06.66\00:11:09.30 Yeah, and we get this question all the time. 00:11:09.33\00:11:10.67 Yeah. Okay. 00:11:10.70\00:11:12.03 And so I wanna read straight from our workbook. 00:11:12.07\00:11:15.20 There was a medical journal called Division of Cardiology, 00:11:15.24\00:11:18.67 Hartford, Connecticut Hospital, they did a study here, 00:11:18.71\00:11:23.24 Walking versus Running for Hypertension 00:11:23.28\00:11:26.15 and Diabetes Risk Reduction. 00:11:26.18\00:11:28.98 Walking versus running. 00:11:29.02\00:11:31.82 And the objective is to see whether or not walking 00:11:31.85\00:11:34.89 is as beneficial as running. 00:11:34.92\00:11:36.59 Okay. 00:11:36.62\00:11:37.96 Here the results, let's just get to this here. 00:11:37.99\00:11:39.33 Here's a result. 00:11:39.36\00:11:41.10 "Walking produce same result 00:11:41.13\00:11:45.03 for lowering blood pressure, 00:11:45.07\00:11:48.17 cholesterol, and diabetes control. 00:11:48.20\00:11:51.97 In fact, in some cases, 00:11:52.01\00:11:54.84 brisk walking was actually 00:11:54.88\00:11:57.65 marginally more beneficial." 00:11:57.68\00:12:02.48 Mm-hmm. 00:12:02.52\00:12:03.85 And a lot of times, you know, 00:12:03.89\00:12:06.12 I know you do some walking too and I think, 00:12:06.15\00:12:09.82 let's talk about some of the things you do, 00:12:09.86\00:12:11.39 Honey, as far as your exercise 00:12:11.43\00:12:13.33 is concerned on a routine basis? 00:12:13.36\00:12:14.96 Share with the audience at this time? 00:12:15.00\00:12:16.33 Well, one of the things is that I'm very crazy about... 00:12:16.36\00:12:18.70 You were saying about the gym 00:12:18.73\00:12:20.07 that's where I love going to the gym. 00:12:20.10\00:12:21.44 You know, we walk also on off days, 00:12:21.47\00:12:23.74 but Tuesdays and Thursdays, I'm at the gym. 00:12:23.77\00:12:26.44 All right, so my favorite... 00:12:26.47\00:12:27.81 I actually had to start off fitness. 00:12:27.84\00:12:29.51 Okay, fitness. 00:12:29.54\00:12:30.88 So tell me just a little bit about what did you do there? 00:12:30.91\00:12:33.35 Okay, Zumba. 00:12:33.38\00:12:35.62 Oh, Zumba? Okay, that's aerobic, cardio. 00:12:35.65\00:12:38.45 Oh, that would be aerobics, okay. 00:12:38.49\00:12:40.29 And I'll do... 00:12:40.32\00:12:42.42 After the Zumba class, bands, balls, and weight. 00:12:42.46\00:12:45.36 So it's strength bearing exercise as well. 00:12:45.39\00:12:48.40 So all that's a part of it and then on the off days, 00:12:48.43\00:12:51.53 that's Tuesdays and Thursdays, 00:12:51.57\00:12:52.90 and then on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 00:12:52.93\00:12:54.60 then I'll do my speed walking 00:12:54.64\00:12:56.14 or my walking in the neighborhood 00:12:56.17\00:12:57.77 to get my 10,000 steps in. 00:12:57.81\00:12:59.17 Oh, okay. 00:12:59.21\00:13:00.54 So and, you know, 00:13:00.58\00:13:01.91 now we're here taping here at 3ABN. 00:13:01.94\00:13:03.28 Yeah. 00:13:03.31\00:13:04.65 And it works because I have a fitness... 00:13:04.68\00:13:06.45 I go to a fitness gym there in Huntsville as well at UAH, 00:13:06.48\00:13:08.98 University of Alabama in Huntsville, 00:13:09.02\00:13:10.95 and I do resistance training. 00:13:10.99\00:13:12.55 I do race walking. Yes, you do. 00:13:12.59\00:13:14.16 And so I do that as well and I do both. 00:13:14.19\00:13:16.19 And remember we had a screening one time 00:13:16.22\00:13:18.86 there in Huntsville, you remember that screening? 00:13:18.89\00:13:21.66 Screening of the legs... I remember that. 00:13:21.70\00:13:23.16 Cardiovascular system, peripheral, our legs screening. 00:13:23.20\00:13:26.63 And the guy, the doctor came in and he screened our legs. 00:13:26.67\00:13:30.37 And the doctor said to me, he said, Curtis, he says, 00:13:30.41\00:13:33.51 "These are the best legs I ever seen." 00:13:33.54\00:13:36.04 I said, "Are you trying to hit on me?" 00:13:36.08\00:13:38.01 "Oh, no, no. No, no, no. 00:13:38.05\00:13:40.12 That's not what I mean." 00:13:40.15\00:13:41.48 He started studying, turning red. 00:13:41.52\00:13:42.85 "No, no, I didn't mean that way." 00:13:42.88\00:13:44.22 I said, "Your legs look good 00:13:44.25\00:13:45.59 as far as circulation is concerned." 00:13:45.62\00:13:47.06 Oh, okay, that's fine. 00:13:47.09\00:13:48.42 Because, you know, you never know nowadays. 00:13:48.46\00:13:50.23 But so but... Yeah, go about it, Honey. 00:13:50.26\00:13:51.79 The funny thing was that when he came in there, they... 00:13:51.83\00:13:54.56 We said we want to be together, okay. 00:13:54.60\00:13:56.40 Mostly everything we do we do together, all right. 00:13:56.43\00:13:57.83 So we were in a room together. 00:13:57.87\00:13:59.33 And when he did finish the screening, 00:13:59.37\00:14:00.77 that's when he was making a comment. 00:14:00.80\00:14:02.14 He said, "What do y'all do?" 00:14:02.17\00:14:03.51 And we said, "We walk a lot." 00:14:03.54\00:14:05.11 And he said, "It shows. 00:14:05.14\00:14:06.47 It actually shows." Yeah. 00:14:06.51\00:14:07.84 So that's a blessing, that's a blessing. 00:14:07.88\00:14:09.21 You know, a lot of people say, "Oh, I'm just too old, 00:14:09.24\00:14:11.05 you know, I'm in my 60s, 70s, 80s, whatever," 00:14:11.08\00:14:13.85 and so we have a picture of someone 00:14:13.88\00:14:17.45 doing some physical activity. 00:14:17.49\00:14:18.92 So let's go to the screen at this time 00:14:18.95\00:14:20.29 and show who this person is on the screen. 00:14:20.32\00:14:22.82 So let's go to screen at this time. 00:14:22.86\00:14:24.73 And that is our mother, Eleanor Eakins. 00:14:24.76\00:14:29.00 I didn't get permission to do this. 00:14:29.03\00:14:30.37 I hope...
