Now, again I didn't say this 00:01:07.62\00:01:10.22 from the outset that this is a part of the Women's 00:01:10.25\00:01:13.09 Health series and so it's gonna be a running series 00:01:13.12\00:01:16.72 just on ladies only. 00:01:16.75\00:01:18.12 Now, men you can listen as well, 00:01:18.15\00:01:19.75 but again these are some health issues 00:01:19.78\00:01:21.58 that women are experiencing and so we gonna let you 00:01:21.61\00:01:24.90 tell the ladies Cause for the Pause is what topic 00:01:24.93\00:01:28.97 we're talking about. Well, you know, 00:01:29.00\00:01:30.41 I like what you said about the men. It's too good. 00:01:30.44\00:01:33.92 These programs are really designed, 00:01:33.95\00:01:36.86 mainly whenever women are going to different changes 00:01:36.89\00:01:40.41 in her lives. She is a kind of experiencing 00:01:40.44\00:01:42.53 about herself and lot of times the family 00:01:42.56\00:01:44.60 do not understand what she is experiencing 00:01:44.63\00:01:47.14 and why she is acting a certain way or 00:01:47.17\00:01:49.04 what's going on with her. And, so these programs 00:01:49.07\00:01:51.42 are designed to not only help her, 00:01:51.48\00:01:54.20 as she is moving through 00:01:54.23\00:01:55.60 these different transitions in her life, 00:01:55.63\00:01:57.00 but also to help the family, the husband, 00:01:57.03\00:01:59.46 the children to know that when she is going through 00:01:59.49\00:02:02.01 these different changes or journeys in her life, 00:02:02.04\00:02:04.95 as to what is really happening 00:02:04.98\00:02:07.00 and then how to get the help that she really needs to have, 00:02:09.66\00:02:11.03 the information she needs to have 00:02:11.06\00:02:12.43 to get the help that is needed because I'm telling 00:02:12.46\00:02:14.43 you right now on a subject like menopause 00:02:14.46\00:02:17.28 once that starts up and if it's not understood 00:02:17.31\00:02:19.60 by her or her family there is going to be 00:02:19.63\00:02:22.56 trouble in the camp. 00:02:22.59\00:02:24.20 Trouble in the camp, of course. That's 00:02:24.23\00:02:25.82 the house, the camper, that's their apartment, 00:02:25.85\00:02:28.97 the condo and everything. 00:02:29.00\00:02:31.21 Okay, also, those who maybe living in tents. Okay, trouble. 00:02:31.24\00:02:35.13 That includes the tents as well. 00:02:35.16\00:02:36.70 In the place of dwelling, alight. You name it. 00:02:36.73\00:02:38.11 You know, I said now when we do travel 00:02:38.14\00:02:39.85 throughout this country in the broad 00:02:39.88\00:02:41.61 of course you've a PowerPoint presentation 00:02:41.64\00:02:43.40 on the menopause, cool answers for a hot topic. 00:02:43.43\00:02:47.01 Absolutely. And, so of course all the women out there 00:02:47.04\00:02:50.60 and of course I take the man, and I'll talk about 00:02:50.63\00:02:52.97 prostate health and sexuality, 00:02:53.00\00:02:54.57 you have the women and I've set in on one of your sessions 00:02:54.60\00:02:58.71 and they really make it real and so, but again 00:02:58.74\00:03:02.96 like you said before a lot of husbands and wives, 00:03:02.99\00:03:05.18 they are experiencing these things together 00:03:05.21\00:03:07.11 and the marriage is compromised. 00:03:07.14\00:03:09.13 Absolutely, absolutely. Because the wives 00:03:09.16\00:03:10.69 going through some changes, we talk about that 00:03:10.72\00:03:12.35 and this is one part of the series, by the way 00:03:12.38\00:03:14.92 we'll comeback we go to the another part 00:03:14.95\00:03:16.32 and then the husband may not know 00:03:16.35\00:03:18.06 or understand what's going on as well. 00:03:18.09\00:03:19.73 So, therefore there are some problems of for us in marriage 00:03:19.76\00:03:22.93 and communication problems as well. 00:03:22.96\00:03:25.07 So, let's talk about menopause, 00:03:25.10\00:03:26.93 let's define the term and about some ages 00:03:26.96\00:03:30.78 and some stats, let's talk about that. 00:03:30.81\00:03:32.51 Well, actually menopause is the stopping 00:03:32.54\00:03:34.86 of menstruation for at least 12 months, 00:03:34.89\00:03:36.84 when there is no menses for 12 months 00:03:36.87\00:03:39.01 then basically a woman is in that era 00:03:39.04\00:03:41.22 already of actually menopause. 00:03:41.25\00:03:43.11 How many over 40 million women and counting, 00:03:43.14\00:03:47.62 still the numbers are going up, 00:03:47.65\00:03:49.61 the average age, well, between the ages 00:03:49.64\00:03:52.44 of 45 and 50, 45 and 55 is when, Okay. 00:03:52.47\00:03:56.36 we actually, when is the note as the menopause era. 00:03:56.39\00:03:59.08 However, the average age is about 51 years of age. 00:03:59.11\00:04:02.06 Okay, so the range can be, it's a wide range. 00:04:02.09\00:04:05.35 A very wide range. We had to put one number 00:04:05.38\00:04:07.32 as the medium age, 51, it would be like 51, 00:04:07.35\00:04:09.92 which is wise to make dad in the middle 00:04:09.95\00:04:11.79 of the baby boomer, so I think that every, 00:04:11.82\00:04:14.81 so many seconds someone as menopausal 00:04:14.84\00:04:17.88 talking to that stage. Yes, yes. 00:04:17.91\00:04:19.28 So, I think every 7 seconds, someone turn 50. 00:04:19.31\00:04:22.95 Someone. So, I mean this is a hot topic right here. 00:04:23.18\00:04:25.67 Very hot topic now. And you talk about, 00:04:25.70\00:04:27.07 so it has to be a woman, who is experiencing 00:04:27.10\00:04:30.23 no menstruation for at least 12 months. 00:04:30.26\00:04:34.92 That's right, for 12 months. You know, that period 00:04:34.95\00:04:36.65 is considered to be menopause. Right, right. 00:04:36.68\00:04:39.55 Officially, alright. Officially. Now, there is some, 00:04:39.58\00:04:42.02 you said...What are the different stages of menopause 00:04:42.06\00:04:44.47 or the different stages of that? Yeah, there 00:04:44.50\00:04:45.96 are different states. Number one is called, perimenopause. 00:04:45.99\00:04:48.95 Peri. Which we always say that somewhere in that timeframe 00:04:48.98\00:04:52.65 in the 30s or your early 40s, is the first time you should 00:04:52.68\00:04:55.62 go in and so having your first testing 00:04:55.65\00:04:57.61 done to see how you stand. Estrogen progesterone 00:04:57.64\00:05:00.04 testosterone, all those levels, we're going to talk about 00:05:00.07\00:05:02.12 that later. To kind to get a count on where 00:05:02.15\00:05:04.94 you are health wise and that's first one pre, 00:05:04.97\00:05:07.53 it can actually be very, very younger, that could be 00:05:07.56\00:05:10.09 a younger age in other words that it can actually start. 00:05:10.12\00:05:12.39 This is when you start having a heart palpitations, 00:05:12.42\00:05:15.09 mood swings, joint pain, memory loss. Okay. 00:05:15.12\00:05:20.12 That's some of the signs that you're actually 00:05:20.15\00:05:21.88 moving into that, you're going into, that pre, 00:05:21.91\00:05:23.38 that's a peri or pre, menopausal time, 00:05:23.41\00:05:24.91 yeah, menopausal time. Okay. 00:05:24.94\00:05:26.31 And, there is also a stage called artificial menopause. 00:05:26.34\00:05:29.50 Artificial menopause means that for some reason 00:05:29.53\00:05:32.48 or another the ovaries have to be removed 00:05:32.51\00:05:34.48 and once those ovaries are removed 00:05:34.51\00:05:36.09 than of course it automatically puts 00:05:36.12\00:05:37.62 women into a menopause also. 00:05:37.65\00:05:39.94 So, that's the or surgical menopause. 00:05:39.97\00:05:42.67 Surgical, it's called surgical. 00:05:42.70\00:05:44.07 Fibroids, cancer, whatever, okay. That's right 00:05:44.10\00:05:45.47 that's right. Now, when you go through 00:05:45.50\00:05:46.87 the surgical menopause of course, 00:05:46.90\00:05:48.27 this is really an issue for the ovaries 00:05:48.30\00:05:49.67 and once the ovaries are removed 00:05:49.70\00:05:51.07 or disturbed then of course it set 00:05:51.10\00:05:53.10 you also up for menopause. Alright. 00:05:53.13\00:05:55.76 Okay, what are some other things because, 00:05:55.79\00:05:58.06 along with that also you got of course lack of blood 00:05:58.09\00:06:01.07 to the actual ovary itself once again then. 00:06:01.10\00:06:03.28 What about chemo and radiation. 00:06:03.31\00:06:04.97 Any chemoradiations, actually chemo drugs 00:06:07.27\00:06:08.64 are given to a woman at that age, 00:06:08.67\00:06:10.04 early age timeframe, then have to be 51 00:06:10.07\00:06:11.91 once again it's disturbing the cells of the body, 00:06:11.94\00:06:15.84 disturbing the uterus and the ovaries 00:06:15.87\00:06:18.69 and so with that in mind it puts her into 00:06:18.72\00:06:20.86 what would be called the artificial. 00:06:20.89\00:06:22.52 Artificial meaning that, it stops 00:06:22.55\00:06:24.78 before its suppose to, it normally happen. Right, 00:06:24.81\00:06:26.97 okay. Okay. And, I know that people who 00:06:27.00\00:06:29.98 don't go through chemotherapy, 00:06:30.01\00:06:31.81 there's a nick name for several times 00:06:31.84\00:06:34.35 like that chemo brain, chemo fog 00:06:34.38\00:06:36.43 because it destroys your brain cells, 00:06:36.46\00:06:38.37 but also destroys or affects the ovaries 00:06:38.40\00:06:41.27 and one of the nick names is chemo pause. Right, 00:06:41.30\00:06:44.76 Menopause, chemo pause. That's right, that's right, 00:06:44.79\00:06:46.63 that's right. When we are going through that treatment 00:06:46.66\00:06:48.61 because of the devastating affects of that 00:06:48.64\00:06:51.31 go right into menopause as well. 00:06:51.34\00:06:53.34 Well Curtis there are stages. 00:06:53.37\00:06:54.97 When we talk about the history. 00:06:55.00\00:06:56.59 Yeah. The first time that information started out about 00:06:56.62\00:06:59.86 women whenever go to see their doctors not understanding 00:06:59.89\00:07:01.85 what was going on, of course once again like PMS. 00:07:01.88\00:07:05.11 Umm! Umm! Menopause is a misunderstood subject. 00:07:05.14\00:07:08.77 Okay. Misunderstood and mistreated. 00:07:08.80\00:07:10.68 That's the reason why we have a program like this. 00:07:10.71\00:07:12.67 To educate both the woman and the family, alright. 00:07:12.70\00:07:14.98 You know, in the 1940s. Okay. 00:07:15.01\00:07:17.17 They thought it was an estrogen issue. Alright. 00:07:17.20\00:07:18.71 And estrogen is of course related to 00:07:18.92\00:07:21.74 the growth development, the female sex hormones also, 00:07:21.77\00:07:26.16 also her character. Okay. 00:07:26.19\00:07:28.58 So, estrogen, they figured okay. 00:07:28.61\00:07:30.18 Let us give her some extra estrogen. 00:07:30.21\00:07:31.58 And she would be okay. She would be fine. 00:07:31.82\00:07:33.19 Alright. Oh! No, no, no. That wasn't enough. 00:07:33.22\00:07:34.77 Then they went to progesterone. 00:07:34.80\00:07:36.20 Okay. Now, they started coming in and complaining 00:07:36.23\00:07:37.93 again then that was in the 1970s, 00:07:37.96\00:07:39.84 must be a progesterone issue, a progesterone 00:07:39.87\00:07:43.80 I'm sorry is breast and bone health 00:07:43.83\00:07:45.71 Okay, now we're talking about. 00:07:45.74\00:07:47.11 Emotional stability. Mood swings. 00:07:47.14\00:07:49.71 Of course mood swings. And that kind of other things. 00:07:49.74\00:07:51.11 So, we got estrogen in the 40s. Yes. 00:07:51.14\00:07:52.66 Now, added with that in the 70s, 00:07:52.69\00:07:54.86 that's right, progesterone alright. 00:07:54.89\00:07:56.26 And with that something else in addition to that. 00:07:56.29\00:07:58.53 And, they create problems, problems with the libido 00:07:58.56\00:07:59.93 that's a sex drive, it is like going down, 00:07:59.96\00:08:02.68 going down, alright so that's. So, discover another hormone. 00:08:02.71\00:08:06.11 A different issue. Progesterone along with 00:08:06.14\00:08:09.28 the last one testosterone. Okay. 00:08:09.31\00:08:11.50 Yes, indeed ladies we do have testosterone also 00:08:11.53\00:08:15.18 small, small amounts not a lot, 00:08:15.21\00:08:17.42 but that's also related to bone health, 00:08:17.45\00:08:19.16 stability, not say stability, I'm talking 00:08:19.19\00:08:22.51 about the bone health as well. Okay. 00:08:22.54\00:08:23.91 And, then also along with that the energy is getting lower. 00:08:23.94\00:08:27.39 Okay. Because of that and then of course 00:08:27.42\00:08:29.05 once again the libido. Yes. 00:08:29.08\00:08:30.91 So, let's talk about some symptoms, 00:08:30.94\00:08:32.82 you mention some already, yes, yes libido, but again. 00:08:32.85\00:08:35.22 yes, yes, yes. When those levels began to drop 00:08:35.25\00:08:38.30 the estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, 00:08:38.33\00:08:42.41 I mean many body functions that those 00:08:42.44\00:08:45.09 three hormones produce what happens, 00:08:45.12\00:08:48.45 you mentioned libido, but I know there is a whole 00:08:48.48\00:08:50.00 list of menopausal symptoms. Let's go through some 00:08:50.03\00:08:52.27 of else because people maybe experiencing 00:08:52.30\00:08:54.31 some of those and may not even connect the dots. 00:08:54.34\00:08:56.50 Let's go through some. 00:08:56.53\00:08:57.90 Well, I want to say that, when those three, 00:08:57.93\00:08:59.30 once it was estrogen then progesterone 00:08:59.33\00:09:00.73 then testosterone each one was a separate issue. 00:09:00.76\00:09:03.13 Right. And they began to combine estrogen progesterone. 00:09:03.16\00:09:05.45 Which is hormone replacement And, then moved into 00:09:05.63\00:09:07.00 therapy, yes, testosterone trying to figure out 00:09:08.24\00:09:09.61 what was going on and so with all that 00:09:09.64\00:09:11.01 in mind, there were same things 00:09:11.04\00:09:12.41 that was going on with the woman 00:09:12.44\00:09:13.81 and sometime not been able to explain that you know, 00:09:13.84\00:09:15.21 she might to go a doctor and say, 00:09:15.24\00:09:16.61 you now has got mood swings, 00:09:16.64\00:09:18.01 I just don't feel right, I'm irritable all the time. 00:09:18.04\00:09:19.41 Okay. This is not my personality, 00:09:19.44\00:09:21.05 I'm experiencing and ladies we use to say the word 00:09:21.08\00:09:23.55 hot flashes, but now we say power surges. 00:09:23.58\00:09:26.63 Power surges. It's sound so much better. 00:09:26.66\00:09:28.07 Yes. Power surges. Power surges. 00:09:28.10\00:09:29.75 Okay and night sweats and then the night sweats 00:09:29.78\00:09:34.22 and those night sweats means that at nighttime 00:09:34.25\00:09:35.62 depending on what we are wearing, 00:09:35.65\00:09:37.24 not enough air in a room, of course at that 00:09:37.27\00:09:39.84 particular time we sweat. 00:09:39.87\00:09:41.55 Okay. Okay, and that can get very, very, very serious, 00:09:41.58\00:09:45.96 alright. Along with that you have 00:09:45.99\00:09:48.65 once again low sex drive and then a weight gain 00:09:48.68\00:09:51.66 because the metabolism is also connected to the hormonal level. 00:09:51.69\00:09:54.80 So, the metabolic, if the hormone level 00:09:54.84\00:09:57.49 is down and there is a problem with anyone 00:09:57.52\00:09:58.90 of those three estrogen, progesterone, testosterone. 00:09:58.93\00:10:01.45 Okay. Then of course there is going to be a problem 00:10:01.48\00:10:04.34 with the metabolism. Now, as we always used to say, 00:10:04.37\00:10:07.42 I used to say getting older, but now I say getting 00:10:07.45\00:10:09.69 more mature. More mature in age. 00:10:09.72\00:10:12.13 Yeah, that's sounds little bit better. 00:10:12.16\00:10:13.53 Okay with that in mind, our metabolism 00:10:13.56\00:10:14.93 begins to slow down. Okay. 00:10:14.96\00:10:16.94 And, that's male and female by the way. 00:10:16.97\00:10:18.67 And with that in mind along with that metabolism 00:10:18.70\00:10:21.51 means it's going to be a weight gain. 00:10:21.54\00:10:22.99 So, lot time women say to me, 00:10:23.02\00:10:24.39 you know, I'm gaining weight, 00:10:24.42\00:10:25.79 I'm eating same amount of food I was eating before, 00:10:25.82\00:10:27.47 but my weight is going up and that's because of the 00:10:27.50\00:10:29.53 the metabolism a part that hormonal 00:10:29.56\00:10:31.46 thing as well and depression. 00:10:31.49\00:10:33.68 Curtis, I cannot bring up enough about anxiety, 00:10:33.71\00:10:37.54 irritability, and depression. I'm telling you 00:10:37.57\00:10:41.83 when a woman experiences those things, 00:10:41.86\00:10:43.98 she is absolutely totally out of it. 00:10:44.01\00:10:47.13 Just out of it. Totally out if it. 00:10:47.16\00:10:49.11 And it is one those things that can really cause some 00:10:49.14\00:10:51.70 real issues in a marriage. That's right. 00:10:51.73\00:10:54.29 Real issues in the family. A lot times 00:10:54.32\00:10:56.83 she does not know what she is experiencing 00:10:56.86\00:10:58.23 and why it is going on and then of course 00:10:58.26\00:10:59.80 the family does not understand what's going on. 00:10:59.83\00:11:01.25 Yes. So, you got some real things going on 00:11:01.28\00:11:02.77 here just simple testing can help that, 00:11:02.80\00:11:05.49 that's why I said you want to start earlier 00:11:05.52\00:11:07.13 doing a test, so that when you begin a move 00:11:07.16\00:11:08.95 toward that 45-50 years of age, 00:11:08.98\00:11:12.01 you can go back and see your physician. 00:11:12.04\00:11:15.30 Umm! Umm! See where you were. 00:11:15.33\00:11:16.94 See where you are now, that's also 00:11:16.97\00:11:18.71 a real good indicator that you might 00:11:18.74\00:11:20.24 be going into premenopause, perimenopause and/or. 00:11:20.27\00:11:23.46 Okay. in menopause itself. 00:11:23.49\00:11:24.86 Yeah, I know when we do seminars 00:11:24.89\00:11:26.46 again a lot of ladies will come to my wife 00:11:26.49\00:11:28.21 and talk about their menopausal symptoms 00:11:28.24\00:11:30.23 and lot of that guys usually the husbands will come to me. 00:11:30.26\00:11:33.53 And, then we will come home and compare notes 00:11:33.56\00:11:35.99 and realize that we're talking to the same couple, 00:11:36.02\00:11:37.68 Exactly, but they may not talk openly with one another. 00:11:37.71\00:11:40.25 That's right. But again this is 00:11:40.28\00:11:41.79 so what's plaguing the American population right now. 00:11:41.82\00:11:44.11 Now, with all those symptoms that maybe 00:11:44.14\00:11:46.20 some people maybe experiencing, 00:11:46.23\00:11:47.88 they don't have the experience all of those, 00:11:47.91\00:11:49.91 but some of those. Yes. 00:11:49.94\00:11:51.31 There are also some health risks 00:11:51.34\00:11:52.71 attached to that as well. Let's talk about some 00:11:52.74\00:11:54.60 health risks. Now, if I was not enough with the all 00:11:54.63\00:11:56.38 other things going on, now we have got to look at. 00:11:56.41\00:11:58.86 Now, once again because the estrogen levels going down. 00:11:58.89\00:12:01.20 And some of your other the progesterone 00:12:01.23\00:12:02.88 testosterone. Now, we're talking about 00:12:02.91\00:12:04.59 heart disease. Okay, heart disease. Oh! You know, 00:12:04.62\00:12:06.87 basically early in a women's life, 00:12:06.90\00:12:09.13 she does not have experience the heart disease 00:12:09.16\00:12:11.43 because of the estrogen levels. 00:12:11.46\00:12:13.19 Right. As a man would because so woman 00:12:13.22\00:12:15.30 would actually have her heart attacks later 00:12:15.33\00:12:17.39 in life, okay. Umm! Umm! 00:12:17.42\00:12:18.79 Because the estrogen is there. 00:12:18.82\00:12:20.19 Once you are going through menopause of course 00:12:20.22\00:12:21.95 the estrogen levels are going down 00:12:21.98\00:12:23.35 and she might experience then of course 00:12:23.38\00:12:25.23 her first part of heart disease. 00:12:25.26\00:12:27.70 Okay. Postmenopausal women 500,000 00:12:27.73\00:12:32.16 women postmenopausal that's. Okay. 00:12:32.19\00:12:34.29 Okay, that's experiencing that as far as heart 00:12:34.32\00:12:36.92 disease is concerned, plaque build up, related to diet. 00:12:36.95\00:12:39.61 Oh! Okay. Cholesterol, saturated fats, 00:12:39.64\00:12:42.25 so with that mind you have to really look at that diet 00:12:42.28\00:12:45.75 and what we're putting into the body system. 00:12:45.78\00:12:48.26 Because I know the estrogen when it's low, 00:12:48.29\00:12:50.32 it also helps metabolize the HDL 00:12:50.35\00:12:52.32 or the good cholesterol. Absolutely. 00:12:52.35\00:12:53.87 Healthy cholesterol. Absolutely. So, thus affect 00:12:53.90\00:12:55.35 with the heart. Absolutely. What other health problems. 00:12:55.38\00:12:57.27 The other one is obesity, we talked about that before. 00:12:57.30\00:12:59.19 That's lack of, of the ovarian hormone. 00:12:59.22\00:13:04.16 That's gonna cause a problem with that, 00:13:04.19\00:13:06.19 it lowers the bodies metabolism once again 00:13:06.22\00:13:09.05 and it affects the weight and the body shape. 00:13:09.08\00:13:12.26 Oh! Okay. Alright, sometimes ladies think okay, 00:13:12.29\00:13:14.45 if I just go on a diet I would be fine, 00:13:14.48\00:13:16.11 but ladies we will never look like we did when we were 18, 00:13:16.14\00:13:19.52 okay. Our body shape does not go back to 18. 00:13:19.55\00:13:21.64 We can look good, we can take care of ourselves, 00:13:21.67\00:13:23.04 but to try to go back, back, back, ah, ah, 00:13:24.50\00:13:27.21 we will do fine where we are, as long as we know 00:13:27.24\00:13:29.15 what's going on and what's happening 00:13:29.18\00:13:30.55 and then take care of ourselves that is so key, 00:13:30.58\00:13:32.96 And, I think there is another key that 00:13:32.99\00:13:34.40 you still look good, when I first married you 00:13:34.43\00:13:36.02 15 years ago. Praise him. Praise and I just want to 00:13:36.05\00:13:38.62 just kind of through that in. All credit to the Father. 00:13:38.70\00:13:40.88 I don't want to through you off little bit, 00:13:40.91\00:13:42.28 I had to say that. I just owe that to the father. 00:13:42.31\00:13:44.17 Okay. But, I take care of myself, I really, 00:13:44.20\00:13:46.32 really, really take care of myself. 00:13:46.35\00:13:48.89 You know, when you are raising children up. 00:13:48.92\00:13:50.29 You go through a whole lot. Basically for women, 00:13:50.32\00:13:52.85 we take care of our husbands, we take care of our family, 00:13:52.88\00:13:55.20 we take care of the neighbors all everybody else. 00:13:55.23\00:13:57.78 And, we don't spend time taking care of ourselves 00:13:57.81\00:13:59.70 and if you don't catch that early 00:13:59.73\00:14:02.34 and I say early, I'm talking about near 20s and 30s. 00:14:02.37\00:14:03.91 This is when you would become aware of it. 00:14:03.94\00:14:05.45 And then take care of yourselves as you began 00:14:05.48\00:14:07.04 to mature and go through that mature journey 00:14:07.07\00:14:09.45 then of course you really pay more attention then, 00:14:09.48\00:14:12.29 you started it. Umm! Umm! 00:14:12.32\00:14:13.69 You keep it going, it makes you feel real good. 00:14:13.72\00:14:15.84 The last one osteoporosis. Oh! Osteoporosis. 00:14:15.87\00:14:18.79 That's right, brittle bones, no, no, no, no, 00:14:18.82\00:14:20.33 let's talk about that, yes. We only talking about 00:14:20.36\00:14:21.73 decrease in bone density. Okay. 00:14:21.76\00:14:23.13 And, so with that in mind you have to take care 00:14:23.16\00:14:25.03 of your body and that you gonna be able to do, 00:14:25.06\00:14:26.99 we talk about that again. Okay. 00:14:27.02\00:14:28.39 Curtis, I know that our time is moving 00:14:28.42\00:14:30.87 and I want to talk little bit about HRT 00:14:30.90\00:14:33.42 Hormone Replacement Therapy. Okay. 00:14:33.45\00:14:35.01 In this particular part of the program 00:14:35.04\00:14:36.45 because it's very, very key. 00:14:36.48\00:14:37.96 As we late talked about all these things going on, 00:14:37.99\00:14:40.15 so how is that relate to menopause? 00:14:40.18\00:14:42.36 Yes, a lot of times women of course going through 00:14:42.39\00:14:44.81 menopause and first they were just using estrogen. 00:14:44.84\00:14:48.17 Estrogen Replacement Therapy and then they decided well, 00:14:48.20\00:14:51.63 that was causing blood clots and uterine cancer. 00:14:51.66\00:14:54.23 Well, that wasn't working. They said, well 00:14:54.26\00:14:56.10 let's add progesterone to that, 00:14:56.13\00:14:57.80 when you add progesterone to that 00:14:57.83\00:14:59.67 then you have Hormone Replacement Therapy, 00:14:59.70\00:15:01.99 then they decided just go ahead and have 00:15:02.02\00:15:04.37 a big Women's Initiative Study, 00:15:04.40\00:15:07.99 to see how Hormone Replacement Therapy 00:15:08.02\00:15:10.30 fairs with those women who are going through 00:15:10.33\00:15:12.59 menopausal symptoms. Yes. 00:15:12.62\00:15:13.99 So, they did that, I think in early 2000, I believe. 00:15:14.02\00:15:17.24 2002 when they stop. 2000 when they stopped yes, 00:15:17.27\00:15:19.45 so they did that Hormone Replacement Therapy. 00:15:19.48\00:15:22.16 Thousands of women involved in that, 00:15:22.19\00:15:24.91 but guess what folks they realized 00:15:24.94\00:15:27.94 it wasn't working as well as they first thought. 00:15:27.97\00:15:30.07 That's right, that's right. The risk out way 00:15:30.10\00:15:32.82 the benefits. And, what happens is this 00:15:32.85\00:15:35.19 and holding to your seats, this a really amazing 00:15:35.22\00:15:37.11 they had to stop this study 3 years prior 00:15:37.14\00:15:40.45 to it's completion date. Absolutely. 00:15:40.48\00:15:42.17 The reason why is this? Number one, 00:15:42.20\00:15:43.65 they discovered the woman in the study had 21 percent 00:15:43.68\00:15:47.59 higher rate of breast cancer. Number two, 00:15:47.62\00:15:52.01 29 percent higher rate of heart attacks. 00:15:52.04\00:15:56.38 Number three, now hold on to your seat for this one, 00:15:56.41\00:15:59.70 a 41 percent higher rate of stroke. 00:15:59.73\00:16:03.64 Yes, yes. Just wait a minute, 00:16:03.67\00:16:05.04 and it came to a screeching heart, 00:16:05.07\00:16:06.84 they had to stop their program, 00:16:06.87\00:16:08.45 so because of that and when they stop 00:16:08.48\00:16:10.58 that the following year breast cancer 00:16:10.61\00:16:13.75 diagnosis dropped by 15 percent the low, 00:16:13.78\00:16:17.45 the biggest drop in years. So, therefore, women are 00:16:17.48\00:16:20.31 using or have to use something else 00:16:20.34\00:16:22.30 or they are moving to another alternative. 00:16:22.33\00:16:24.76 Next time, we meet, we talk about Preventing 00:16:24.79\00:16:28.35 Power Surges. We're gonna talk about 00:16:28.38\00:16:31.24 some natural products that you can use in our next program. 00:16:31.27\00:16:34.36 Well, you know, you gonna have definitely have 00:16:34.39\00:16:36.00 to stay tune for that second part 00:16:36.03\00:16:37.40 because we have only done with 00:16:37.43\00:16:39.02 the problems and the symptoms 00:16:39.05\00:16:40.72 and a risk factors and of course HRT. 00:16:40.75\00:16:43.10 We definitely want to stay tune, 00:16:43.13\00:16:45.47 so we can look at what can we do. 00:16:45.50\00:16:47.47 What can we do and I know, you're saying, 00:16:47.50\00:16:49.36 are we going in the kitchen. The answer is definitely yes. 00:16:49.39\00:16:51.59 As, we're going to be making sure 00:16:51.62\00:16:53.34 that you tune it for the next program. 00:16:53.37\00:16:54.74 We are going to kitchen. And we're gonna 00:16:54.77\00:16:56.40 actually do a recipe called Franks in a Blanket, 00:16:56.43\00:17:01.11 see you in the kitchen. 00:17:01.14\00:17:03.46
