People often asked me the question, are there 00:00:01.98\00:00:03.35 foods that actually help fight cancer? The 00:00:03.38\00:00:05.92 answer is yes, and on today's show we are 00:00:05.95\00:00:09.23 going to talk about those cancer fighting 00:00:09.26\00:00:11.46 foods, so stay by. 00:00:11.49\00:00:13.49 Well, welcome to Abundant Living, I am 00:00:41.54\00:00:44.05 Paula Eakins and this is my husband Curtis 00:00:44.08\00:00:47.66 Eakins. Thank you very much and we're glad to 00:00:47.69\00:00:51.53 be able with you today. Yes we are. And we've 00:00:51.56\00:00:53.41 got some exciting foods that we're going to be 00:00:53.44\00:00:55.79 talking about today on the show. And these are 00:00:55.82\00:00:57.24 the cancer fighting foods. Cancer fighting 00:00:57.27\00:00:59.62 foods. The cancer fighters. Yes, as a 00:00:59.65\00:01:01.18 matter of fact all the foods that we're going 00:01:01.21\00:01:03.28 to be doing on the show today are the foods that 00:01:03.31\00:01:05.07 are recommended by the American Cancer 00:01:05.10\00:01:06.77 Society and lots of color, believe it or not 00:01:06.80\00:01:10.04 people are surprised because the cancer 00:01:10.07\00:01:11.93 society Curtis actually talks about more fruits 00:01:11.96\00:01:14.40 and more vegetables and also talks about 00:01:14.43\00:01:16.78 more whole grain foods as well. So all those 00:01:16.81\00:01:19.47 type of foods are going to be on the show and 00:01:19.50\00:01:21.73 also talk about more of the legume family as 00:01:21.76\00:01:24.00 well. Legumes are going to be on the 00:01:24.03\00:01:25.40 show. And less of the meats are red meat, yes 00:01:25.43\00:01:27.46 and so therefore it's a good combination, yes, 00:01:27.49\00:01:30.60 lower in red meats and sometimes some people 00:01:30.63\00:01:32.58 take no meats at all no meats and also increase 00:01:32.61\00:01:35.28 the fruits and vegetables and also that also means 00:01:35.31\00:01:37.52 as we've always talked about on Abundant 00:01:37.55\00:01:39.25 Living that also means lowering that salt 00:01:39.28\00:01:41.24 amount, lowering that sugar amount, all those 00:01:41.27\00:01:43.39 also a key as well. Now just thinking about it to, 00:01:43.42\00:01:45.84 those maybe watching for the first time, we've 00:01:45.87\00:01:47.70 said this many times before in Abundant Living. 00:01:47.73\00:01:49.60 God's original diet is a plant based diet, 00:01:49.63\00:01:52.78 absolutely, and therefore is a Genesis 1:29 00:01:52.81\00:01:56.62 it's a plant based diet. 00:01:56.65\00:02:00.56 Hmm. And with that in mind there is a lot of 00:02:00.59\00:02:02.48 fruits, there is a lot of vegetables, legumes, 00:02:02.51\00:02:04.77 whole grains and no meat at all. So again 00:02:04.80\00:02:07.74 that's what the American Cancer Society 00:02:07.77\00:02:09.14 is moving closer to that diet as well. 00:02:09.17\00:02:10.78 Well, you know we're going to be doing a lot 00:02:10.81\00:02:12.18 of color and stuff on this program and you 00:02:12.21\00:02:14.08 know I hope they have their pencil and their 00:02:14.11\00:02:15.48 paper out because you know we're gonna go to 00:02:15.51\00:02:17.44 our very first, first recipe, okay, which is a 00:02:17.47\00:02:20.22 green and orange salad, let's look at the recipe. 00:02:20.25\00:02:23.32 It calls for: 00:02:23.35\00:02:27.03 and we're gonna use that for 00:02:43.60\00:02:45.21 garnish. Okay, so this is not your typical tossed 00:02:45.24\00:02:48.52 salad you know you have the fruit in here. 00:02:48.55\00:02:50.72 I kind of call it a fruity salad really because it 00:02:51.73\00:02:53.10 does have a orange in that, it has grape and 00:02:53.13\00:02:54.86 also has a pear as well, alright. Alright. And 00:02:54.89\00:02:57.89 notice that when I said romaine, you can use 00:02:57.92\00:03:00.44 romaine lettuce you can use other green leaf 00:03:00.47\00:03:03.09 lettuce, you can use red leaf and for color I've 00:03:03.12\00:03:06.71 got a combination of the romaine and the red 00:03:06.74\00:03:08.63 leaf lettuce as well. Now one of the things 00:03:08.66\00:03:10.88 that I'm going to do Curtis is, I'm going to 00:03:10.91\00:03:12.51 take the lettuce and I'm going to just start 00:03:12.54\00:03:15.16 breaking it up and I do that because if you 00:03:15.19\00:03:17.38 break it with your fingers it will not turn 00:03:17.41\00:03:19.46 on you like it would if you use a sharp knife on 00:03:19.49\00:03:21.29 it, oh okay. If you use a sharp knife of course it 00:03:21.32\00:03:23.95 will turn brown and it's a little bit of a, matter of 00:03:23.98\00:03:26.57 few seconds with good oxidation. Okay, so 00:03:26.60\00:03:28.78 we're gonna to use the romaine and red 00:03:28.81\00:03:31.99 leaf combination, it's going to make a real 00:03:32.02\00:03:33.56 nice presentation. Now, I noticed she almost 00:03:33.59\00:03:35.75 said iceberg, you said that were ice and the 00:03:35.78\00:03:38.10 reason... why aren't we using iceberg 00:03:38.13\00:03:41.46 in this particular one? Oh you're asking me the 00:03:41.49\00:03:42.86 question. Yeah, I'm asked you that question. 00:03:42.89\00:03:44.32 Oh okay that wasn't really in the script. Aha! 00:03:44.35\00:03:45.72 But I'll answer anyway because you asked. 00:03:45.75\00:03:48.85 Okay. Iceberg is basically 98% water, 00:03:48.88\00:03:51.49 that's right, 98 so again myself go ahead and 00:03:51.52\00:03:54.74 drink some water, but no nutritional value, no 00:03:54.77\00:03:58.33 nutritional value basically at all in iceberg lettuce, 00:03:58.36\00:04:00.11 so we're using this romaine and red 00:04:00.14\00:04:02.20 romaine and or green leaf or red combination. 00:04:02.23\00:04:06.12 Okay, okay now I'm gonna tell right now 00:04:06.15\00:04:08.15 what we got here is we got a couple of things, 00:04:08.18\00:04:10.34 number one in your group over there you 00:04:10.37\00:04:12.07 have the lemon juice and you also have a 00:04:12.10\00:04:14.31 Tarragon and you've got the canola and I'm 00:04:14.34\00:04:17.46 going to set this over to the side for a minute here 00:04:17.49\00:04:19.28 because this is the Navel Orange and I'm 00:04:19.31\00:04:21.59 going to cut the orange up to put inside the 00:04:21.62\00:04:23.01 salad, while I'm doing that you can go ahead 00:04:23.04\00:04:25.10 on and begin putting your combination 00:04:25.13\00:04:26.78 together, which is going to be your lemon juice, 00:04:26.81\00:04:28.53 lemon juice, the canola and you've got the 00:04:28.56\00:04:30.79 Tarragon and also, put all these three in here, 00:04:30.82\00:04:33.70 aha and you're going to squish that up, so I'm 00:04:33.73\00:04:35.38 gonna go ahead and peel that orange. Okay, 00:04:35.41\00:04:37.00 and I like the Navel Oranges, it's sweet 00:04:37.03\00:04:40.11 alright and it's a real simple one to put 00:04:40.14\00:04:44.40 together and you know what, sometimes when 00:04:44.43\00:04:46.64 you do lettuce Curtis you'll discover that 00:04:46.67\00:04:48.93 salad within a day or so will wilt on you. I like 00:04:48.96\00:04:54.20 this one because of the lemon and also the 00:04:54.23\00:04:57.14 orange, this salad will last a couple of days 00:04:57.17\00:05:00.51 believe it or not, okay. I'll take off the rest of 00:05:00.54\00:05:03.65 this white here. And speaking of the cancer 00:05:03.68\00:05:05.93 fighting foods, the lemon, orange, the 00:05:05.96\00:05:09.96 lemony, that's whole family has some cancer 00:05:09.99\00:05:12.72 fighters in there as well so this is a good cancer 00:05:12.75\00:05:16.02 fighting, a good starter, a good starter, salad 00:05:16.05\00:05:18.09 yes. A cancer fighting salad and what about 00:05:18.12\00:05:21.60 the red grapes? Now red grape is very 00:05:21.63\00:05:24.24 powerful, it's been clinically proven to be a 00:05:24.27\00:05:27.23 very powerful anticancer properties, 00:05:27.26\00:05:30.98 particularly in the skin of the red grape, we 00:05:31.01\00:05:33.75 called that resveratrol. So the red grape is very 00:05:33.78\00:05:36.62 powerful in initiation and promotion stage, 00:05:36.65\00:05:39.28 those are the first two stages of cancer 00:05:39.31\00:05:41.35 development and the red grape has shown to 00:05:41.38\00:05:44.10 really slow it down, or halt, the stages in those 00:05:44.13\00:05:47.24 two stages of cancer. Now again, a lot of 00:05:47.27\00:05:49.52 people ask what about grape juice, now grape 00:05:49.55\00:05:51.64 juice does not have resveratrol. Now 00:05:51.67\00:05:54.26 alcohol does have it but of course the alcohol, 00:05:54.29\00:05:56.51 red wine I should say, but alcohol because it's 00:05:56.54\00:05:59.17 also a cancer promoter, so that's not the best 00:05:59.20\00:06:01.56 choice. So the red grape, particularly skin 00:06:01.59\00:06:03.44 of the red grape and the Thompson or the green 00:06:03.47\00:06:05.64 grape does not have resveratrol. So looking 00:06:05.67\00:06:07.57 at the red grape. You want to make sure that 00:06:07.60\00:06:09.32 you get the red grape, the red grape, and what 00:06:09.35\00:06:11.56 about that dark blue grape? How can that, 00:06:11.59\00:06:14.06 can that help at all? Well, the dark blue 00:06:14.09\00:06:15.61 grape does not have resveratrol and that 00:06:15.64\00:06:17.75 what we want, but it does have high in 00:06:17.78\00:06:20.56 antioxidants properties, once again is a inhibitor 00:06:20.59\00:06:25.03 of the free radicals and I won't get into a lot of 00:06:25.06\00:06:28.48 detail here but again we need antioxidants, 00:06:28.51\00:06:31.42 because by breathing, by oxygen exchange we 00:06:31.45\00:06:34.96 produce free radicals. So therefore, just like if 00:06:34.99\00:06:38.34 you cut a apple, once the air hits the apple, 00:06:38.37\00:06:41.09 the apple turns, what will prevent that apple 00:06:41.12\00:06:44.24 from turning, you put something that has 00:06:44.27\00:06:46.14 antioxidant, which is lemon juice. Okay. So 00:06:46.17\00:06:48.86 that's the way that works. So, we got a 00:06:48.89\00:06:50.77 combination and we got that lemon. I'm just 00:06:50.80\00:06:52.25 gonna to take it up at this side of the, this 00:06:52.28\00:06:54.47 orange. Okay, looking good baby. There are on 00:06:54.50\00:06:56.60 the top of that, alright, and as I said before we 00:06:56.63\00:06:58.60 have our pears, I'm just kind of cut them and 00:06:58.63\00:07:01.57 we're gonna put them pears around, you know 00:07:01.60\00:07:03.58 we had this not too long ago, when you liked 00:07:03.61\00:07:05.03 this combination also. Yes, been a while but 00:07:05.06\00:07:07.42 I'll be having again today. Yes, sounds 00:07:07.45\00:07:10.30 good. Now this is in your, this is one of your 00:07:10.33\00:07:13.27 recipes, I know we're just putting it together, 00:07:13.30\00:07:14.82 we have supplemental pack now, that's true, 00:07:14.85\00:07:16.31 and in these combinations, these 00:07:16.34\00:07:17.83 things that we're doing this particular one is 00:07:17.86\00:07:19.50 going to be in a supplemental pack 00:07:19.53\00:07:20.97 okay, oh okay, put the grapes on there, red 00:07:21.00\00:07:23.71 grapes, red grapes that one your favorites, with 00:07:23.74\00:07:26.47 the skins, yes I like all types of grapes. But you 00:07:26.50\00:07:29.29 know this recipe is really a recipe that I've 00:07:29.32\00:07:31.77 seen sometimes ago and I use it. It talked about 00:07:31.80\00:07:35.70 taking the grape and cutting the grape in 00:07:35.73\00:07:39.62 half, yeah. Well. I like the grape on top just 00:07:39.65\00:07:41.83 like that, I think it has a pretty presentation 00:07:41.86\00:07:43.54 alright. And what we're going to do now is just 00:07:43.57\00:07:45.44 take this combination, we're just wanna 00:07:45.47\00:07:48.01 drizzle, and we're gonna drizzle it on top. Okay, 00:07:48.04\00:07:50.82 alright. I'll let you do that, I'm gonna to move 00:07:50.85\00:07:55.50 that over toward you and you can drizzle that 00:07:55.53\00:07:57.14 for us, just gonna drizzle a little bit, just 00:07:57.17\00:07:59.30 all around and make sure you get that right 00:07:59.33\00:08:00.94 there in the middle there. Yes, and that's 00:08:00.97\00:08:04.20 also a pretty presentation, that has a 00:08:04.23\00:08:05.85 peppermint also, okay baby, yes baby. Okay. 00:08:05.88\00:08:10.25 How about that honey? That is wonderful. It's 00:08:10.28\00:08:12.86 wonderful just marvelous, just 00:08:12.89\00:08:14.32 marvelous, see how fast we that, we have it, the 00:08:14.35\00:08:16.28 salad is ready to go, you know and that's a salad 00:08:16.31\00:08:20.12 and you know the roughage, the salad is 00:08:20.15\00:08:21.94 very, very good, not just once again for just 00:08:21.97\00:08:24.99 a cancer fighter but we should have that 00:08:25.02\00:08:26.83 roughage, you know, everyday. Right. Put 00:08:26.86\00:08:29.09 that roughage in and it's very, very good for the 00:08:29.12\00:08:30.49 body system. Coloring once again, I like about 00:08:30.52\00:08:32.60 the whole food group when we talk bout 00:08:32.63\00:08:34.51 cancer fighters, it's coloring. Yes, you 00:08:34.54\00:08:37.74 know God put and place into this particular 00:08:37.77\00:08:40.10 family, when we talk about the fruits and the 00:08:40.13\00:08:41.52 vegetables and the whole grain, he put 00:08:41.55\00:08:43.39 those colors there to entice us, because we 00:08:43.42\00:08:46.03 eat with our eyes absolutely, absolutely. 00:08:46.06\00:08:48.42 It must look appealing. Well I know one thing, 00:08:48.45\00:08:50.78 I know people ask me a question that is, they 00:08:50.81\00:08:52.89 say okay, okay what other foods can we 00:08:52.92\00:08:54.36 possibly use? Well, how about we're going 00:08:54.39\00:08:56.59 to actually be doing a fish cake. We're going 00:08:56.62\00:08:59.81 to make fish cakes, fish cakes, fish cakes, so 00:08:59.84\00:09:02.72 let's go to the actual recipe, okay. 00:09:02.75\00:09:04.49 It calls for: 00:09:04.52\00:09:09.81 Now, I know people ask 00:09:40.55\00:09:46.15 the question is it possible to make Mock 00:09:48.23\00:09:49.60 Fish Patty. Is it possible? and the 00:09:49.63\00:09:51.00 answer is, yes it is, yes it is. As a matter of fact 00:09:51.03\00:09:53.13 we're going to put some different things in this, 00:09:53.16\00:09:55.35 our food processor and you're going to be 00:09:55.38\00:09:57.58 amazed, you wait till you make it, you're 00:09:57.61\00:09:59.39 going to be really shocked. Now this is a 00:09:59.42\00:10:00.84 vegetarian show. Now, yes it is, plant based so, 00:10:00.87\00:10:02.72 this okay and I already said Mock Fish Patties, 00:10:02.75\00:10:04.46 Mock, okay and so they call for 1 cup of water 00:10:04.49\00:10:07.90 and then it called for the 1 cup of actually yellow 00:10:07.93\00:10:11.17 split peas. Okay. And what happens is as you 00:10:11.20\00:10:13.18 put the water in there and let it sit overnight 00:10:13.21\00:10:15.70 in a container, it will actually soften up the 00:10:15.73\00:10:18.00 peas itself and believe it or not it will yield over 00:10:18.03\00:10:21.13 two cups of yellow split peas, how about that, 00:10:21.16\00:10:25.41 look at that, this is all that, well it just swell 00:10:25.44\00:10:27.19 up, okay I'm gonna to go ahead on and start in 00:10:27.22\00:10:29.32 if you give me a spatula there Curtis because 00:10:29.35\00:10:31.18 this has quite a few things that actually go 00:10:31.21\00:10:32.58 in it. Okay. Alright. 00:11:58.50\00:12:01.11 You want me just to kind of chop this up a 00:12:01.14\00:12:02.89 little bit. Yeah, now isn't parsley another one 00:12:02.92\00:12:04.54 of those cancer fighting foods just, just cut it 00:12:04.57\00:12:06.16 half that's all you have to do. Oh okay, okay 00:12:06.19\00:12:08.70 because I'm gonna go ahead on and I'm gonna 00:12:08.73\00:12:10.88 put in the instant oats, oh and lets move it all 00:12:10.91\00:12:15.25 around, all around and move oats. Now roll 00:12:15.28\00:12:18.38 oats won't work, no this is instant oats, instant 00:12:18.41\00:12:20.10 oats, you need instant. You got to get this 00:12:20.13\00:12:21.50 particular one. Just checking, just checking, 00:12:21.53\00:12:22.90 alright. Now what you can do is we can go 00:12:22.93\00:12:24.70 ahead on, lets take the parsley, now again you 00:12:24.73\00:12:28.35 just said fish cakes, because right now, 00:12:28.38\00:12:30.48 looking at this, I know so far I know I know 00:12:30.51\00:12:33.55 yeah okay I understand, I understand, I'm just 00:12:33.58\00:12:36.98 checking, that's right, this is the fish cake 00:12:37.01\00:12:38.68 recipe. That's right. They're gonna to be 00:12:38.71\00:12:40.08 calling in on this one, okay and this is one of 00:12:40.11\00:12:42.05 our family favorite ones anywhere every time 00:12:42.08\00:12:43.61 we make this up you know and okay we got 00:12:43.64\00:12:45.83 that in there and you now what, I'm gonna 00:12:45.86\00:12:48.44 start the first spin and then we're gonna to add 00:12:48.47\00:12:50.93 the other ingredients to this also as well, okay. 00:12:50.96\00:12:52.98 We want to make sure that you get all those 00:12:53.01\00:13:08.12 split peas in, so just kind of turn around a 00:13:08.15\00:13:10.64 little bit. Now did the split peas have to be the 00:13:10.67\00:13:12.49 yellow ones, yeah for this particular recipe 00:13:12.52\00:13:14.88 you know everything, because there are 00:13:14.91\00:13:16.28 different colors for peas. Yeah everything 00:13:16.31\00:13:17.68 is about aesthetics and the color, we're going to 00:13:17.71\00:13:19.08 try to make, we're gonna make these into 00:13:19.11\00:13:20.48 Fish Patties. So you want, the coloring is 00:13:20.51\00:13:21.88 very, very important, because you eat with 00:13:21.91\00:13:23.28 our eyes okay. I want to turn this back on again 00:13:23.31\00:13:25.19 and we're gonna to go ahead and spin it. Now, 00:13:25.22\00:13:34.27 what I'm going to do now is I'm going to start 00:13:34.30\00:13:36.46 putting in all the rest of the ingredients, to make 00:13:36.49\00:13:39.53 this patty up alright. We have the lime, we're 00:13:39.56\00:13:46.94 going to put in, Curtis and we're gonna add in, 00:13:46.97\00:13:48.66 we got our other spices here, the coconut, 00:13:48.69\00:13:52.88 coconut and okay the pimentos, I'm going to 00:13:52.91\00:13:55.10 go ahead on and pour those on top. Now this 00:13:55.13\00:13:56.84 our lime juice, okay fresh lime juice, we got 00:13:56.87\00:14:01.01 the time, we're gonna put that in the 00:14:01.04\00:14:04.06 seasoning, thyme in time. Now we got the salt 00:14:04.09\00:14:06.01 there as well, sea salt in there. I'm gonna put the 00:14:06.04\00:14:08.39 coconut and this, put the lemon and the 00:14:08.42\00:14:10.53 coconut, this is the secret, this is the secret 00:14:10.56\00:14:12.72 that actually gives it that texture when you 00:14:12.75\00:14:14.86 bite into it, as though it's actually fish. So, 00:14:14.89\00:14:18.28 we're revealing all of our secrets in this show 00:14:18.31\00:14:19.86 now, well it's alright, ' cause they're going to 00:14:19.89\00:14:21.26 seeing it, they can know anyway, that's alright 00:14:21.29\00:14:22.66 okay, okay that's alright. It is pretty, it's 00:14:22.69\00:14:24.06 not only that, it's pretty. Okay and then lastly 00:14:24.09\00:14:26.99 we're gonna to put the in the kelp, and this is 00:14:27.02\00:14:29.96 what really gives it the fish, that's really brings 00:14:29.99\00:14:31.57 that out, the kelp, the flavor yeah, gonna put 00:14:31.60\00:14:34.04 the kelp in there alright. Gonna put that lid back 00:14:34.07\00:14:36.41 on top of that, very good, spin it again. 00:14:36.44\00:14:38.37 Moving it down and this is the last time and 00:14:38.40\00:14:57.12 you can see, see it's making the sauce 00:14:57.15\00:14:58.59 becoming yes. It's getting that texture like 00:14:58.62\00:15:01.07 that of Patties and you know what, we're going 00:15:01.10\00:15:04.39 to go ahead and put that in the Curtis and you're, 00:15:04.42\00:15:06.54 I talked about that canola oil, okay that 00:15:06.57\00:15:08.92 we're going to be using and you know we 00:15:08.95\00:15:10.76 always talk about heat your skillet up, so go 00:15:10.79\00:15:12.24 ahead and get your skillet it ready to go. 00:15:12.27\00:15:13.64 Okay. Turn it on, which you want to about 00:15:13.67\00:15:15.55 maybe 300, about 300, let's put it on 300 okay 00:15:15.58\00:15:18.66 and I'm going to, once I spin this, the next time 00:15:18.69\00:15:21.74 around, because we are making the Patties to 00:15:21.77\00:15:23.14 put in there. Now you know once again we 00:15:23.17\00:15:25.14 said before and we'll say it again when we're 00:15:25.17\00:15:27.69 talking about trying to cut back on the fats and 00:15:27.72\00:15:30.28 the oils in the diet and whether it's cancer 00:15:30.31\00:15:32.60 fighter foods or heart disease or diabetes, then 00:15:32.63\00:15:35.35 we want to make sure that we don't use as 00:15:35.38\00:15:37.66 much as a recipe might call for, alright. Okay. 00:15:37.69\00:15:39.96 Now, this one says for the three tablespoons, 00:15:39.99\00:15:41.53 because we're going to make a lot of Patties 00:15:41.56\00:15:42.93 right. What I'm going to do we always started 00:15:42.96\00:15:44.72 heating up our skillet, if you heat the skillet first, 00:15:44.75\00:15:46.54 then you actually use less oil alright and so 00:15:46.57\00:15:50.66 that's going to heat up and then you're going to 00:15:50.69\00:15:52.37 take and pour a little bit of your oil in there. 00:15:52.40\00:15:53.85 Meanwhile, I'm going to go ahead and 00:15:53.88\00:15:55.25 continue to spin this around. So, I stop 00:15:55.28\00:15:56.99 pouring the oil in here, now yeah, it's heated, 00:15:57.02\00:16:00.18 you can give me that larger bowl over there. Okay, 00:16:00.21\00:16:02.19 give me that bowl right there, what I would do 00:16:02.22\00:16:03.63 is I'm gonna pour this in here we get done. So 00:16:03.66\00:16:05.85 just do about maybe half of it, that's enough, 00:16:05.88\00:16:07.83 that's enough. Okay and then you have a spatula 00:16:07.86\00:16:09.70 over there, you can kind of move it around 00:16:09.73\00:16:11.10 inside there, okay. I'm going to meanwhile go 00:16:11.13\00:16:12.93 and do this one more time. That's it, one 00:16:12.96\00:16:29.68 more, I said one more. Now we can make 00:16:29.71\00:16:33.16 patties out of those, we can make patties okay, 00:16:33.19\00:16:35.61 Now what I usually do is turn this off, lift 00:16:35.64\00:16:44.46 this up, okay and we're gonna pour the 00:16:44.49\00:16:50.60 contents. Let me get that middle one out. I 00:16:50.63\00:16:52.51 can hold it by my finger there, okay, believe it or 00:16:52.54\00:16:55.15 not, okay. So now this is to substance for the 00:16:55.18\00:16:58.58 fish patties, this is for the fish patties and you 00:16:58.61\00:17:00.69 just to finish making a comment about the 00:17:00.72\00:17:02.24 parsley, yes, and how important, the lemon 00:17:02.27\00:17:04.01 juice is, all the goodies in here, right, you know 00:17:04.04\00:17:07.04 of course the split peas is in the legume family, 00:17:07.07\00:17:09.98 legume family. Okay, that's true and so with 00:17:10.01\00:17:11.92 that in mind we got the legumes in here as well. 00:17:11.95\00:17:13.64 This makes it wonderful... yeah, you can put 00:17:13.67\00:17:17.16 that over there for me. Okay. Thank you. And 00:17:17.19\00:17:19.38 we're gonna go ahead on and do get that in 00:17:19.41\00:17:23.17 there alright. Now we're gonna to just do a few 00:17:23.20\00:17:25.41 of the patties because at the end of the show I 00:17:25.44\00:17:28.14 will be showing you what that looks like, 00:17:28.17\00:17:29.80 you got that going over there and now we need 00:17:29.83\00:17:33.73 a nice spoon. I'm going to go ahead and spray 00:17:33.76\00:17:35.45 my hands because I'm getting ready to really 00:17:35.48\00:17:37.53 get me a spoon there aha, I'm gonna spray 00:17:37.56\00:17:41.54 my hands, wanna spray it in my hands, it will 00:17:41.57\00:17:44.42 help to give me a better, no, no give me that give 00:17:44.45\00:17:48.05 me the white one, give me the white spoon, 00:17:48.08\00:17:50.54 that's one. My hands are slippery, slippery, 00:17:50.57\00:17:54.21 slippery okay and okay, got to put that, just 00:17:54.24\00:18:00.45 make a circle out of it and we're going to, now 00:18:00.48\00:18:02.96 we play Ms. Patty Cakes, fish patties, I'm 00:18:02.99\00:18:07.18 going to lay it right there, okay and now 00:18:07.21\00:18:09.01 this recipe of course you can use to make up 00:18:09.04\00:18:13.54 the fish patties, but I'm going to tell you, it 00:18:13.57\00:18:14.94 actually will make about 15 patties alright, 00:18:14.97\00:18:20.10 it's a nice amount okay and it goes very well 00:18:20.13\00:18:23.55 with a whole wheat bread, some tartar 00:18:23.58\00:18:26.95 sauce. Now you got tartar sauce in your 00:18:26.98\00:18:29.16 cook book right, okay, okay. And we're going 00:18:29.19\00:18:32.28 to take that now, guess what if you say okay 00:18:32.31\00:18:34.83 what else can I do with that you can also make 00:18:34.86\00:18:37.15 fish sticks alright as well and just makes 00:18:37.18\00:18:40.83 them smaller, just make them smaller and 00:18:40.86\00:18:42.47 longer, that's right, you got fish sticks okay. It's 00:18:42.50\00:18:45.75 amazing, I like this recipe after you make it 00:18:45.78\00:18:48.50 up, after you brown on both sides, nice golden 00:18:48.53\00:18:51.50 brown, then what you would do is you put it 00:18:51.53\00:18:53.37 in the oven. And the temperature is going to 00:18:53.40\00:18:55.45 be about 325 degrees okay, and you will 00:18:55.48\00:18:59.13 actually let it bake for about 25 minutes, 00:18:59.16\00:19:01.23 because remember now, we got split peas and 00:19:01.26\00:19:02.98 stuff in it, so we wanna make sure that the 00:19:03.01\00:19:04.57 middle of it is not soft, okay. Alright, that will 00:19:04.60\00:19:07.85 actually harden it, harden it out okay. I 00:19:07.88\00:19:10.71 know we had this last night and the whole 00:19:10.74\00:19:12.52 wheat bun and lettuce and tomatoes and that's 00:19:12.55\00:19:16.37 was very good eating. One more, one more, 00:19:16.40\00:19:18.65 okay one more going here, okay, alright, and 00:19:18.68\00:19:22.69 fish patties, look at my hands, my hands I think 00:19:22.72\00:19:25.18 greasy, I'll let you do that I'm not getting my 00:19:25.21\00:19:26.71 hands dirty. I start to ask you Curtis I said 00:19:26.74\00:19:28.49 you know, you know maybe Curtis might 00:19:28.52\00:19:30.87 want, want to get, no, you're doing a good job 00:19:30.90\00:19:32.27 baby, go ahead and do this himself, you know, 00:19:32.30\00:19:33.67 you're doing a good job okay. Now, if you 00:19:33.70\00:19:35.38 would give me a little bit more oil down this, 00:19:35.41\00:19:36.96 this end down here. Okay. Then, just a little 00:19:36.99\00:19:39.68 bit down there, just down the aside and it 00:19:39.71\00:19:41.30 will be here on this corner and that way we 00:19:41.33\00:19:42.77 can make sure all of it turns nice and brown 00:19:42.80\00:19:44.60 okay and we're going to turn our fire up okay 00:19:44.63\00:19:48.02 and that's going to get, should I cover this, 00:19:48.05\00:19:50.91 and we're going put the lid on top and what will 00:19:50.94\00:19:52.48 happen is once it browns, it will brown 00:19:52.51\00:19:54.44 on one side, okay, nice golden brown and it 00:19:54.47\00:19:57.96 will also turn a nice golden brown on the 00:19:57.99\00:20:00.05 second side as well. And then at that point 00:20:00.08\00:20:02.35 you just take and lay them on a cookie sheet, 00:20:02.38\00:20:04.25 one layer at a time and when you do that, 00:20:04.28\00:20:06.75 within ten minutes they're ready to go. Oh 00:20:06.78\00:20:09.28 okay, maybe I'll take a break and what you 00:20:09.31\00:20:11.95 need, that's where you take a break, because 00:20:11.98\00:20:13.55 we still got a couple more recipes to work 00:20:13.58\00:20:15.16 with, this is not over yet, so stay by. 00:20:15.19\00:20:19.65
