Okay. 00:03:07.26\00:03:09.49 Talks about the fact that the average 00:03:09.52\00:03:10.89 American is gaining one pound 00:03:10.92\00:03:12.90 every one hundred and eighty days. 00:03:12.93\00:03:15.58 Now, just an extra ten pound. 00:03:15.61\00:03:17.87 Just a extra ten? Extra ten. 00:03:17.90\00:03:19.35 Increase your heart rate. Okay. 00:03:19.38\00:03:22.13 Which can cause heart disease. 00:03:22.16\00:03:24.80 Make you have high blood pressure. 00:03:24.83\00:03:26.24 High blood pressure. 00:03:26.27\00:03:27.64 And then it's also responsible for some cancers. 00:03:27.67\00:03:29.60 And then it can also shorten your life. 00:03:29.63\00:03:31.49 Just ten extra pound or so. 00:03:31.52\00:03:32.89 Just ten extra pound. Yes. 00:03:32.92\00:03:34.29 Now, there is also another caption that says here, 00:03:34.32\00:03:36.45 just you're five times now 00:03:36.48\00:03:38.01 more likely to develop Osteoarthritis. 00:03:38.04\00:03:40.46 Five times, my goodness. 00:03:40.49\00:03:41.86 Low back pain, diabetes and Gallbladder disease. 00:03:41.89\00:03:47.08 I think we're living large. 00:03:47.11\00:03:48.90 I think we are living large, 00:03:48.93\00:03:51.04 and again, you know, 00:03:51.07\00:03:52.44 now of course you know that 00:03:52.47\00:03:54.22 this has reached center stage, 00:03:54.25\00:03:55.62 when we have now TV Series. 00:03:55.65\00:04:00.64 One it's called the, the biggest loser, 00:04:00.67\00:04:03.69 it's a series, 00:04:03.72\00:04:05.09 we just saw one just few weeks ago, 00:04:05.12\00:04:07.59 The Fat March. 00:04:07.62\00:04:08.99 The Fat March, yeah. 00:04:09.02\00:04:10.39 And now you see these series going on in the television 00:04:10.42\00:04:12.82 for us people losing weight. 00:04:12.85\00:04:14.22 You know that this has reached center stage 00:04:14.25\00:04:15.62 and so therefore we have entitled this program 00:04:15.65\00:04:18.73 "Living Large," 00:04:18.76\00:04:20.13 this is part of the winning weight series "Living Large". 00:04:20.16\00:04:22.37 So, this is something that we're gonna deal with. 00:04:22.40\00:04:24.31 We're gonna try to reverse 00:04:24.34\00:04:25.71 those odds of people gaining the weight, 00:04:25.74\00:04:27.36 because again normal weight is now abnormal. 00:04:27.39\00:04:32.87 65 % of people are overweight or obese. 00:04:32.90\00:04:35.81 Are there any clinical studies 00:04:35.84\00:04:37.21 that talk about the heart risk? 00:04:37.24\00:04:39.16 Oh, definitely, the American cancer society 00:04:39.19\00:04:42.48 just published it's largest study 00:04:42.51\00:04:44.58 ever done on overweight 00:04:44.61\00:04:46.16 and obesity as far as cancer is concerned. 00:04:46.19\00:04:48.79 Now, this study is the largest one done to-date, 00:04:48.82\00:04:51.15 date of this program, of 900,000 people. 00:04:51.18\00:04:55.28 They covered these people for 16 years, 00:04:55.31\00:04:58.14 they discovered that those who are overweight 00:04:58.17\00:05:00.46 and obese had a higher risk of cancer, 00:05:00.49\00:05:04.99 particularly breast cancer. 00:05:05.02\00:05:06.39 Because, see the fat cells also stimulate cancer growth. 00:05:06.42\00:05:11.56 And also they have more circulating estrogen 00:05:11.59\00:05:15.36 throughout the body. 00:05:15.39\00:05:16.76 So, again these individuals, 00:05:16.79\00:05:18.60 breast cancer was greatly enhanced when weight 00:05:18.63\00:05:21.92 or overweight was on their body. 00:05:21.95\00:05:23.93 So, again that's one of major study that 00:05:23.96\00:05:25.73 just came out with American Cancer Society. 00:05:25.76\00:05:29.13 I guess the location of fat is that really important 00:05:29.16\00:05:31.83 when we're talking about overweight 00:05:31.86\00:05:34.79 as we look at the individuals here in America. 00:05:34.82\00:05:37.14 Yes, the location of where the fat is 00:05:37.17\00:05:39.95 on the body is critical because you know, 00:05:39.98\00:05:42.78 you don't see a whole lot of people going 00:05:42.81\00:05:44.18 around with fat toe nails 00:05:44.21\00:05:45.58 and fat fingers or whatever. 00:05:45.61\00:05:47.55 But where the fat is located 00:05:47.58\00:05:50.48 is very critical to one's overall health. 00:05:50.51\00:05:53.28 Let's go to our first graph, 00:05:53.31\00:05:54.68 and let's see where the fat is located at this time. 00:05:54.71\00:05:58.12 Now, you have here, where is the fat? 00:05:58.15\00:05:59.82 Well, Retroperitoneal, 00:05:59.85\00:06:02.07 well now this is in the back of the body. 00:06:02.10\00:06:04.72 You don't see it, you don't see, 00:06:04.75\00:06:06.12 too many people with fat backs, 00:06:06.15\00:06:07.52 but again this fat back there, the retroperitoneal. 00:06:07.55\00:06:10.93 But that's not as important as the fat 00:06:10.96\00:06:12.99 that's in front of the body, 00:06:13.02\00:06:15.05 because one fat is the subcutaneous 00:06:15.08\00:06:17.83 or for short, subcu. 00:06:17.86\00:06:20.25 The other one is the visceral fat 00:06:20.28\00:06:22.06 and of course being in surgery 00:06:22.09\00:06:23.91 for several years sometimes... I thank you of that graphic, 00:06:23.94\00:06:27.26 that when we do surgical procedures 00:06:27.29\00:06:29.97 particularly abdominal surgery, 00:06:30.00\00:06:32.69 and the person is very obese. 00:06:32.72\00:06:34.73 Then we have to really get a very large set 00:06:34.76\00:06:37.22 of instrument trays with long handles. 00:06:37.25\00:06:40.24 And so they need more anesthesia, 00:06:40.27\00:06:42.90 surgical procedure's more difficult to do 00:06:42.93\00:06:45.73 because you have to cut through more fat tissue 00:06:45.76\00:06:48.23 as they're longer and more complications with that. 00:06:48.26\00:06:51.14 So, with that in mind 00:06:51.17\00:06:52.57 but the fat if it's around the stomach 00:06:52.60\00:06:55.16 or the belly area is more critical. 00:06:55.19\00:06:58.70 Now, again another clinical study 00:06:58.73\00:07:00.10 as far as diabetes is concerned, 00:07:00.13\00:07:01.55 again they discover that 00:07:01.58\00:07:03.48 when the fat is around the belly area, 00:07:03.51\00:07:06.14 if the waist is 34 waist for the man, 00:07:06.17\00:07:09.54 then you have a 70 % chance of getting diabetes. Wow. 00:07:09.57\00:07:13.36 If your waist is 34. Okay. 00:07:13.39\00:07:15.19 If your waist is 36, it's doubled. 00:07:15.22\00:07:19.60 If the waist is 38, 00:07:19.63\00:07:21.74 it's tripled become a diabetic. 00:07:21.77\00:07:23.92 If your waist is over 40 inches, it quadruples. 00:07:23.95\00:07:28.71 So, therefore it's not so much the fat 00:07:28.74\00:07:32.01 but where the fat is located in the belly area. 00:07:32.04\00:07:35.11 Also Colorectal cancer, 00:07:35.14\00:07:36.60 of course when the fat is around the belly area, 00:07:36.63\00:07:39.57 the subcu of visceral fat 00:07:39.60\00:07:41.06 that we saw in the graphic there, 00:07:41.09\00:07:43.10 there also stimulates 00:07:43.13\00:07:44.50 what we call growth like insulin hormone. 00:07:44.53\00:07:46.74 Which also triggers cancer cells to metastasize 00:07:46.77\00:07:51.39 or to divide. 00:07:51.42\00:07:52.79 So, where the fat is located is also critical 00:07:52.82\00:07:55.43 for the overall health as well. 00:07:55.46\00:07:57.30 And that was done on the, 00:07:57.33\00:07:59.18 about 27,000 individuals and it was published 00:07:59.21\00:08:02.20 in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition 00:08:02.23\00:08:04.78 as far as Colorectal cancer and also diabetes as well. 00:08:04.81\00:08:07.86 I know one of the things we been seeing a lot of, 00:08:07.89\00:08:09.37 and we're talking about adults, 00:08:09.40\00:08:10.88 we certainly need to talk about 00:08:10.91\00:08:12.28 what's going on with children 00:08:12.31\00:08:13.68 and that childhood obesity. Yes. 00:08:13.71\00:08:15.23 Because we're seeing more 00:08:15.26\00:08:16.68 and more of the major killer diseases 00:08:16.71\00:08:19.08 actually now in childhood, 00:08:19.11\00:08:21.96 where you, you never saw heart disease 00:08:21.99\00:08:23.87 and diabetes and, 00:08:23.90\00:08:26.08 and even some types of cancers. 00:08:26.11\00:08:27.79 That's true. In children, young children. Right. 00:08:27.82\00:08:30.84 Teenagers, all right. Right. 00:08:30.87\00:08:32.24 And we're seeing more and more of that 00:08:32.27\00:08:33.64 because of the obesity factor. 00:08:33.67\00:08:35.20 Talk a little bit about that. 00:08:35.23\00:08:36.60 Yes, childhood obesity now is 00:08:36.63\00:08:38.39 now has reached center stage as well. 00:08:38.42\00:08:40.60 And now there are several states 00:08:40.63\00:08:42.25 now in this country, 00:08:42.28\00:08:43.65 United States, in this country is 00:08:43.68\00:08:45.12 now targeting the school cafeterias. 00:08:45.15\00:08:49.64 All right, we saw a program just a few months ago 00:08:49.67\00:08:51.98 by these people going through these school cafeterias 00:08:52.01\00:08:55.38 and you see on the menu of the school cafeterias, 00:08:55.41\00:08:58.94 French fries, pizzas and cheese fries 00:08:58.97\00:09:03.81 and onion rings and, 00:09:03.84\00:09:05.53 and everything was simply brown 00:09:05.56\00:09:09.04 on a child's plate at the school cafeterias. 00:09:09.07\00:09:11.20 So, now about over 14 states now are targeting 00:09:11.23\00:09:14.57 and have a program designed to target 00:09:14.60\00:09:17.18 these school cafeterias. 00:09:17.21\00:09:18.66 And not only that, but also your cartoons, 00:09:18.69\00:09:21.44 you have the Shrek, 00:09:21.47\00:09:22.85 the Simpsons and Spiderman, 00:09:22.88\00:09:24.25 they are now emphasizing of foods 00:09:24.28\00:09:27.27 that are high in fat, 00:09:27.30\00:09:29.43 high in sugar, high in salt. 00:09:29.46\00:09:32.93 So, therefore the child watch these cartoon characters 00:09:32.96\00:09:36.02 and of course they take it in by that, 00:09:36.05\00:09:37.88 go to grocery stores 00:09:37.91\00:09:39.28 and of course the cereals are at the bottom shelf, 00:09:39.31\00:09:41.47 where they can see at eye level, 00:09:41.50\00:09:43.55 where they are going to pick that. 00:09:43.58\00:09:44.95 And so again, and we need to understand that 00:09:44.98\00:09:47.96 if a child increases their fat cells, 00:09:47.99\00:09:51.85 then is going to be more difficult 00:09:51.88\00:09:53.29 to lose weight in adult stage. 00:09:53.32\00:09:56.55 Because whatever you get in fat cells in adolescent, 00:09:56.58\00:10:01.09 you keep it. 00:10:01.12\00:10:02.49 So, therefore we want to target childhood obesity 00:10:02.52\00:10:04.84 and keep that down below the body mass index, 00:10:04.87\00:10:08.70 which we'll talk about that later on as well. 00:10:08.73\00:10:10.45 One of the things that I'm very, 00:10:10.48\00:10:11.85 I'm very interested and I'm excited about, 00:10:11.88\00:10:13.68 is that they are now going into the school system 00:10:13.71\00:10:15.72 and they're making some changes. Yes, they are. 00:10:15.75\00:10:17.32 And they have taken out a lot of the soda machines 00:10:17.35\00:10:19.61 and the candy machines. 00:10:19.64\00:10:21.01 That need to be out of way. 00:10:21.04\00:10:22.41 Because you can't expect that the child is gonna 00:10:22.44\00:10:23.81 actually when they see that 00:10:23.84\00:10:25.21 they're gonna automatically want it, 00:10:25.24\00:10:26.61 they're gonna automatically want it. 00:10:26.64\00:10:28.01 I even remember when people were asking me 00:10:28.04\00:10:29.41 at one time about doing children nutrition programs. 00:10:29.44\00:10:32.26 That's true, I remember. And I kept saying, 00:10:32.29\00:10:33.66 well the child is not buying the food, 00:10:33.69\00:10:35.15 it's the parents buying the food. 00:10:35.18\00:10:36.55 The child, yeah child is not buying it. 00:10:36.58\00:10:37.95 So, we need to address 00:10:37.98\00:10:39.35 the parents first. That's true. 00:10:39.38\00:10:40.75 And then we can bring the children as well. That's true. 00:10:40.78\00:10:43.01 Because actually they can't go home and tell their mom, 00:10:43.04\00:10:44.54 they don't really want potato chips anymore. 00:10:44.57\00:10:46.17 There you go. Not that they would say that. Okay. 00:10:46.20\00:10:49.93 How about biblical examples, 00:10:49.96\00:10:51.33 what does the Bible have to say 00:10:51.36\00:10:52.73 about obesity and overweight? 00:10:52.76\00:10:55.51 Yes, the Bible has to say quite a bit about 00:10:55.54\00:10:58.15 overweight and obesity. 00:10:58.18\00:11:00.28 There is 1 Samuel 4:18 what the Bible talks about 00:11:00.31\00:11:04.71 Eli the priest being heavy. 00:11:04.74\00:11:08.29 Judges 3:17, King Eglon was a very fat man, all right. 00:11:08.32\00:11:15.90 So, therefore people there in biblical days 00:11:15.93\00:11:18.70 were also living large. 00:11:18.73\00:11:22.45 But I want to read a text here that 00:11:22.48\00:11:23.87 maybe I open it to a lot of people, 00:11:23.90\00:11:26.29 you may want to write this one down. 00:11:26.32\00:11:28.42 And I believe it's found in Deuteronomy 32 00:11:28.45\00:11:34.13 and this is a text that is an eye opener to me. 00:11:34.16\00:11:40.15 I'm going to read the text and I'm going to explain it. 00:11:40.18\00:11:42.54 Deuteronomy Chapter 32 and verse 15. 00:11:42.57\00:11:46.45 Listen to these words, folks, 00:11:46.48\00:11:47.85 it's an eye opener. 00:11:47.88\00:11:49.25 "But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked, 00:11:49.28\00:11:57.09 thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, 00:11:57.12\00:12:03.38 thou art covered with fatness, Jeshurun." 00:12:03.41\00:12:08.18 Now, what's interesting about this text is, 00:12:08.21\00:12:10.81 this is not a person named Jeshurun, 00:12:10.84\00:12:13.47 this is not a person. Okay. 00:12:13.50\00:12:15.13 This is figurative language. 00:12:15.16\00:12:17.47 Jeshurun is a symbol for God's chosen people Israel. 00:12:17.50\00:12:23.10 As matter of fact some of your new translations 00:12:23.13\00:12:25.37 use the word Israel in places of the word Jeshurun. 00:12:25.40\00:12:28.81 So, this is symbolic. Okay. 00:12:28.84\00:12:30.49 But God is showing his displeasure 00:12:30.52\00:12:32.24 against his chosen people, 00:12:32.27\00:12:34.12 and he uses this type of language 00:12:34.15\00:12:37.27 to describe his displeasure. 00:12:37.30\00:12:39.03 Now, doesn't mean that God doesn't like 00:12:39.06\00:12:40.53 people who are overweight or obese. Right. 00:12:40.56\00:12:43.06 He likes those who are 375 pounds 00:12:43.09\00:12:46.41 just as much as those who are 148 pounds. That's true. 00:12:46.44\00:12:50.52 So, don't misunderstand that, 00:12:50.55\00:12:52.06 but again God uses this type of language 00:12:52.09\00:12:54.90 to show his displeasure against his chosen people. 00:12:54.93\00:12:58.24 Jeshurun waxed fat and kicked, 00:12:58.27\00:13:00.02 doesn't mean that he kicked the bucket, 00:13:00.05\00:13:01.66 it means that he kicked 00:13:01.69\00:13:03.06 against the bricks in rebellion, 00:13:03.09\00:13:04.89 that's what that text means. 00:13:04.92\00:13:06.29 So, again this is a biblical examples of 00:13:06.32\00:13:07.69 people living large and God also uses 00:13:07.72\00:13:10.13 this to describe His children, people as well. 00:13:10.16\00:13:12.68 You mentioned earlier about the fact of certain times 00:13:12.71\00:13:15.73 when you can actually lay fat down 00:13:15.76\00:13:17.45 or put fat down in a body system. 00:13:17.48\00:13:19.80 And you said that if you get it 00:13:19.83\00:13:21.20 when you're younger it's hard to get rid of it 00:13:21.23\00:13:23.71 when you're older. Yes. 00:13:23.74\00:13:25.44 And so when we're thinking about times really fat down, 00:13:25.47\00:13:29.30 we know that of course in childhood 00:13:29.33\00:13:31.74 and then we have the adolescence. 00:13:31.77\00:13:33.48 And then of course if we lay it down as a child, 00:13:33.51\00:13:36.29 I remember back in a day, that's back in a day 00:13:36.32\00:13:39.61 when they used to say that, you know the child is real... 00:13:39.64\00:13:41.09 Now, for those who don't know that type of language, 00:13:41.12\00:13:43.42 she means sometime ago. 00:13:43.45\00:13:45.17 Yes. Okay. 00:13:45.20\00:13:46.57 If a child was born real heavy 00:13:46.60\00:13:47.97 or you fed a lot of milk or food to the baby 00:13:48.00\00:13:50.14 and the baby got real fat, 00:13:50.17\00:13:51.54 you thought that was a wonderful, joyous... 00:13:51.57\00:13:52.94 Yeah, baby is nice and nice and chunky. Right. Yes. 00:13:52.97\00:13:55.45 That's not, that's not true anymore 00:13:55.48\00:13:56.93 Okay, yes It's not true anymore 00:13:56.96\00:13:58.33 Now, now, let's talk about now 00:13:58.36\00:13:59.73 because we want to change the language here, folks. 00:13:59.76\00:14:01.47 This is the winning weight series. 00:14:01.50\00:14:03.21 And what we emphasize about is losing weight. 00:14:03.24\00:14:06.52 We want to change that to 00:14:06.55\00:14:08.34 how can we best shrink fat cells. 00:14:08.37\00:14:13.56 So, now let's take a little demo here, 00:14:13.59\00:14:16.00 honey, you got a balloon or something like that. 00:14:16.03\00:14:17.40 Oh, I just do because... 00:14:17.43\00:14:19.12 Let's demonstrate how a fat cell enlarges his cell. 00:14:19.15\00:14:22.65 Well, you know my friend used to believe that 00:14:22.68\00:14:24.69 you know you can, you have this weight on 00:14:24.72\00:14:26.67 and then you exercise a lot and drop, 00:14:26.70\00:14:29.03 you know, exercise and eat less food 00:14:29.06\00:14:30.79 and then of course the fat cells go away, 00:14:30.82\00:14:33.20 unfortunately they do not. 00:14:33.23\00:14:34.71 Fat cells are fat cells now what they usually do is 00:14:34.74\00:14:38.22 they just get larger, like this. 00:14:38.25\00:14:41.60 So, now if we feed fat cells, fat, 00:14:45.63\00:14:48.61 and we get more into that, the fat cells get large. 00:14:48.64\00:14:51.14 Now, now let's, let's hold that, honey, 00:14:51.17\00:14:52.92 hold that balloon right there, that's a fat cell. 00:14:52.95\00:14:54.77 Now, folks guess what a fat cell 00:14:54.80\00:14:57.71 can only get so large, 00:14:57.74\00:14:59.44 once that fat cell reaches maximum capacity 00:14:59.47\00:15:03.45 guess what folks 00:15:03.48\00:15:04.85 that fat cell begins to birth baby fat cell. 00:15:04.88\00:15:10.58 Where there's baby fat cell if it's being fat, 00:15:14.81\00:15:18.11 a lot of fat and other things like that, 00:15:18.14\00:15:20.24 this baby fat cell gets larger 00:15:20.27\00:15:22.86 to it's maximum capacity 00:15:22.89\00:15:24.65 and this baby fat cell will birth another baby fat cell. 00:15:24.68\00:15:28.40 So, now we have a generation of fat cells. 00:15:28.43\00:15:31.29 And when we discover that in adolescents 00:15:31.32\00:15:34.18 when we have these fat cells in our system at a small age, 00:15:34.21\00:15:37.53 we keep it. 00:15:37.56\00:15:38.99 Therefore in adult age it is lot more harder 00:15:39.02\00:15:41.02 because we have more fat cells to shrink, 00:15:41.05\00:15:43.89 so we want to shrink the fat cells. 00:15:43.92\00:15:45.32 Well, what happens is that as we lose weight, 00:15:45.35\00:15:47.34 the thing that's a blessing is.. 00:15:47.37\00:15:48.74 It just be reversed 00:15:48.77\00:15:50.14 The fat cells don't go away but it does. 00:15:50.17\00:15:51.54 It goes down. It shrinks inside. 00:15:51.57\00:15:53.11 So, what we wanna do is demonstrate 00:15:53.14\00:15:55.22 how can we best shrink fat cells, 00:15:55.25\00:15:59.03 all right, very good. 00:15:59.06\00:16:00.49 Well, what about some of those labels out there 00:16:00.52\00:16:02.52 and I guess that's really important thing... 00:16:02.55\00:16:03.92 Yeah, let's, let's, look at the label. 00:16:03.95\00:16:05.60 Honey, I think we have a graphic of label, 00:16:05.63\00:16:07.16 let's walk through the label 00:16:07.19\00:16:08.56 and see what about those labels. 00:16:08.59\00:16:10.12 Let's read that label, emphasizing fat... 00:16:10.15\00:16:11.52 You know we're looking at the label, 00:16:11.55\00:16:12.92 you want to be reminded once again that a half a cup, 00:16:12.95\00:16:15.08 this is four servings in this particular item 00:16:15.11\00:16:17.38 and half a cup actually has 200 and 60 calories, 00:16:17.41\00:16:24.30 of which 120 are in fat. 00:16:24.33\00:16:28.32 That's half a cup now. 00:16:28.35\00:16:29.72 Half a cup and then it's 13 grams of fat total 00:16:29.75\00:16:32.64 which means at that particular item 00:16:32.67\00:16:34.45 is not a good item to get. 00:16:34.48\00:16:35.96 Any time you see something is half of that amount. 00:16:35.99\00:16:38.24 So, when you going to the store 00:16:38.27\00:16:39.64 you want to read those labels, 00:16:39.67\00:16:41.04 that's so important. Read those labels. 00:16:41.07\00:16:42.44 And when you see anything that's half of the, 00:16:42.47\00:16:43.84 half of the calories in fat 00:16:43.87\00:16:46.08 then you want to leave that there. 00:16:46.11\00:16:47.48 Okay.
