You know, people often say 00:00:01.06\00:00:03.51 that a number one killer of women is actually cancer. 00:00:03.54\00:00:08.98 But we have news for you today 00:00:09.01\00:00:10.26 because guess what? 00:00:10.29\00:00:11.33 The number one killer 00:00:11.36\00:00:12.39 of women is really heart disease. 00:00:12.42\00:00:15.25 Stay by. 00:00:15.28\00:00:17.33 Hi, welcome to Abundant Living. 00:00:50.76\00:00:52.51 I'm Curtis Eakins, the co-host and this is my wife... 00:00:52.54\00:00:56.32 Okay, wait a minute, now what-- 00:00:56.35\00:00:57.80 Honey, okay, what's the problem here? 00:00:57.83\00:00:59.17 I'm-- I'm, oh, hi. 00:00:59.20\00:01:00.89 Okay. This is kind of rude. 00:01:00.92\00:01:01.96 Okay. I was reading... 00:01:01.99\00:01:03.58 Oh, this is a fantastic book here and it's talking about... 00:01:03.61\00:01:06.51 Before you talk about what you're reading, 00:01:06.54\00:01:08.09 let me first introduce 00:01:08.12\00:01:09.76 that you may be share with all what you're reading. 00:01:09.79\00:01:12.01 So this is my wife Paula Eakins. 00:01:12.04\00:01:14.78 Hi. You say hi, okay. 00:01:14.81\00:01:16.91 Now, you are missing about heart disease 00:01:16.94\00:01:20.18 because, you know, 00:01:20.21\00:01:21.29 people have asked that question on the streets. 00:01:21.32\00:01:22.76 I know. 00:01:22.79\00:01:23.88 And for years they would say, 00:01:23.91\00:01:26.40 what do you think is the number one killer for women. 00:01:26.43\00:01:30.76 And about 30 years ago, 00:01:30.79\00:01:32.43 quite a few people would say breast cancer. 00:01:32.46\00:01:34.86 Absolutely. 00:01:34.89\00:01:35.92 All right, and so and then 30 years later 00:01:35.95\00:01:40.34 that number really hasn't dropped that much. 00:01:40.37\00:01:43.30 Some people still think it's breast cancer, 00:01:43.33\00:01:46.01 only other type of cancer, 00:01:46.04\00:01:48.22 but the number one killer is heart disease. 00:01:48.25\00:01:52.43 The second killer is not even close. 00:01:52.46\00:01:54.92 So now, you're reading something because. 00:01:54.95\00:01:57.60 Every month-- Every month... 00:01:57.63\00:01:59.25 Back in the month of February, 00:01:59.28\00:02:00.37 I guess you're trying to figure out 00:02:00.40\00:02:01.51 then it's called Go Red, 00:02:01.54\00:02:03.66 and that's because in the month of February, 00:02:03.69\00:02:06.07 we ask the women, United States women 00:02:06.10\00:02:08.16 to wear red in the month of February 00:02:08.19\00:02:10.01 which is called Go Red. 00:02:10.04\00:02:12.22 Now, I'm wearing red too. 00:02:12.25\00:02:13.33 I'm not the woman, so I try to represent. 00:02:13.36\00:02:15.38 You represent but the reason 00:02:15.41\00:02:17.17 why it's Go Red for women is because we're trying 00:02:17.20\00:02:20.05 to really make sure that women understand 00:02:20.08\00:02:22.01 that heart attack is the number one killer of women. 00:02:22.04\00:02:25.04 All right, and so there's some statistics 00:02:25.07\00:02:26.83 that actually been out here 00:02:26.86\00:02:27.91 and I know we're gonna show those 00:02:27.94\00:02:29.03 but it is talked about the fact of 1 in 3. 00:02:29.06\00:02:32.53 We're now at the point of 1 in 3. 00:02:32.56\00:02:34.46 One in three women. 00:02:34.49\00:02:35.68 One in three women will actually suffer 00:02:35.71\00:02:37.85 from some type of cardiovascular event. 00:02:37.88\00:02:39.73 Oh, okay. 00:02:39.76\00:02:40.80 And that's pretty heavy. 00:02:40.83\00:02:42.11 Okay, that's pretty heavy. 00:02:42.14\00:02:43.34 And so it says a lot of things in here. 00:02:43.37\00:02:45.20 I know we're going to be talking about that, 00:02:45.23\00:02:46.72 but I was just so intrigued 00:02:46.75\00:02:47.88 because number one is that 00:02:47.91\00:02:49.00 we're wearing red and to, you know, be a part of it. 00:02:49.03\00:02:52.55 And number two is that, 00:02:52.58\00:02:54.61 in Huntsville we actually did a whole program 00:02:54.64\00:02:57.02 called a Million Heart Conference. 00:02:57.05\00:02:58.82 And in Million Heart Conference, 00:02:58.85\00:03:00.83 it was amazing, 00:03:00.86\00:03:02.22 because it was a three day conference 00:03:02.25\00:03:03.85 and we ask people to come in and we talked about 00:03:03.88\00:03:06.08 cardiovascular health, heart disease. 00:03:06.11\00:03:08.63 We got into the whole thing about women with stroke 00:03:08.66\00:03:10.71 and heart attacks which is totally different 00:03:10.74\00:03:13.08 from a man, okay. 00:03:13.11\00:03:14.64 And the place was packed. 00:03:14.67\00:03:17.03 The first night they came from everywhere. 00:03:17.06\00:03:19.52 Community, the church members. 00:03:19.55\00:03:21.77 Our pastor was very, very surprised, 00:03:21.80\00:03:23.50 I mean we had over 150 some people, 00:03:23.53\00:03:25.64 they showed up on a very first evening. 00:03:25.67\00:03:27.91 Yeah, and what my wife 00:03:27.94\00:03:29.63 is talking about the Million Heart, 00:03:29.66\00:03:31.57 the Center for Disease Control 00:03:31.60\00:03:33.79 and also the National Institute of Health, 00:03:33.82\00:03:35.53 they combined together to launch 00:03:35.56\00:03:37.07 the Million Heart campaign. 00:03:37.10\00:03:38.80 This is a 7 year campaign 00:03:38.83\00:03:40.54 to reduce the amount of heart attacks and strokes 00:03:40.57\00:03:42.22 by 1 million by the year I think 2017. 00:03:42.25\00:03:46.54 So we are the Health Ministry Director 00:03:46.57\00:03:48.96 of South Central Conference. 00:03:48.99\00:03:50.99 Since we live in the middle of the stroke belt, 00:03:51.02\00:03:55.07 we thought it would be necessary 00:03:55.10\00:03:56.49 to be part of that national initiative 00:03:56.52\00:03:58.95 so we are now a national partner, 00:03:58.98\00:04:01.31 the Health Department of South Central Conference 00:04:01.34\00:04:03.81 and we want to emphasize awareness 00:04:03.84\00:04:06.86 of heart attacks and strokes. 00:04:06.89\00:04:08.77 And so the Million Heart is reason why they call it that 00:04:08.80\00:04:11.91 to reduce the amount of heart attacks and strokes 00:04:11.94\00:04:13.54 by 1 million in the 6 or 7 year period. 00:04:13.57\00:04:17.30 And so it was also my event 00:04:17.33\00:04:19.55 and for those who want to, after this program, 00:04:19.58\00:04:22.99 we'll give you the website right now. 00:04:23.02\00:04:25.14 We taped that event, the two day event 00:04:25.17\00:04:28.21 and you can go 00:04:28.24\00:04:29.34 to the South Central Conference website, 00:04:29.37\00:04:32.68 a Seventh-day Adventist, 00:04:32.71\00:04:34.32 and go click to the health ministry's page, 00:04:34.35\00:04:37.00 as you can see the two night event 00:04:37.03\00:04:39.05 that we videotaped for those two nights. 00:04:39.08\00:04:41.39 Yeah, and you said-- I said three, 00:04:41.42\00:04:43.06 and the reason why I said three nights 00:04:43.09\00:04:44.12 is because the first two nights 00:04:44.15\00:04:45.67 was actually cardiovascular stroke, heart attack 00:04:45.70\00:04:47.81 and then last night we showed a video 00:04:47.84\00:04:50.30 and it was absolutely a mind-boggling, 00:04:50.33\00:04:52.77 open your eyes kind of thing. 00:04:52.80\00:04:55.14 Now, on top of that 00:04:55.17\00:04:56.28 though we had a Million Heart Conference 00:04:56.31\00:04:57.90 and then just most recently we had a whole program 00:04:57.93\00:05:00.35 called Women's Wellness Week. 00:05:00.38\00:05:02.15 And Women's Wellness Week was every topic or hot topic 00:05:02.18\00:05:05.71 dealing with woman and their health, 00:05:05.74\00:05:06.89 and you know that stroke and heart attack 00:05:06.92\00:05:08.67 became a program as well. 00:05:08.70\00:05:10.63 Once again, standing room only lots of women came out 00:05:10.66\00:05:13.60 because it's-- we experience 00:05:13.63\00:05:16.20 heart attacks and strokes totally different from males. 00:05:16.23\00:05:20.53 As a matter of fact back in the day 00:05:20.56\00:05:22.18 that was all the ways back, 00:05:22.21\00:05:24.46 most of the research was done on men 00:05:24.49\00:05:26.62 and not on women. 00:05:26.65\00:05:27.79 And then the women's health initiative started up 00:05:27.82\00:05:30.52 out at Washington DC. 00:05:30.55\00:05:32.06 And they began doing a lot of research on women 00:05:32.09\00:05:34.20 and women's health on any topic 00:05:34.23\00:05:35.78 you could think about that dealt with women, 00:05:35.81\00:05:37.44 they did it and so of course heart disease 00:05:37.47\00:05:39.99 became a real big issue, 00:05:40.02\00:05:42.41 heart attacks and stroke and so. 00:05:42.44\00:05:44.56 They did books and recipes 00:05:44.59\00:05:46.24 and all kind of stuff dealing with it, 00:05:46.27\00:05:47.91 trying to make women more aware of what's going on. 00:05:47.94\00:05:50.30 Now, our program is entitled Go Red. 00:05:50.33\00:05:55.12 And so the book you're reading is the book Go Red. 00:05:55.15\00:05:58.26 Go Red. 00:05:58.29\00:05:59.36 On this website Go Red and go to that website 00:05:59.39\00:06:02.18 and get a lot of information about women and heart disease. 00:06:02.21\00:06:04.95 Now, let's go to our first graphic 00:06:04.98\00:06:06.94 because it gives about some statistics 00:06:06.97\00:06:08.68 and some numbers as far as the rate 00:06:08.71\00:06:11.38 of women dying from different diseases. 00:06:11.41\00:06:15.27 So let's go to our first graphic at this time 00:06:15.30\00:06:17.12 because these numbers are simple astounding. 00:06:17.15\00:06:19.74 The leading causes of death for woman. 00:06:19.77\00:06:23.11 Now, of course right up at the top 00:06:23.14\00:06:24.83 is heart disease is number one, 00:06:24.86\00:06:28.14 and then stroke is number two, 00:06:28.17\00:06:29.70 so between those two is almost half a million. 00:06:29.73\00:06:35.04 And then your lung cancer, 00:06:35.07\00:06:37.35 chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, COPD, 00:06:37.38\00:06:40.11 and then breast cancer is at the bottom 00:06:40.14\00:06:42.16 of this list of 41,000. 00:06:42.19\00:06:44.46 So you see there that if you combine 00:06:44.49\00:06:47.53 number one and number two, 00:06:47.56\00:06:49.75 heart disease and stroke, 00:06:49.78\00:06:51.53 you're looking at almost a half million women dying 00:06:51.56\00:06:55.78 from cardiovascular events just from those right there. 00:06:55.81\00:06:59.63 And so therefore you can see that this is a topic 00:06:59.66\00:07:02.67 that is disproportionately more fatal for women than for men, 00:07:02.70\00:07:08.77 and a lot of women are simply misdiagnosed. 00:07:08.80\00:07:12.89 We'll talk about that later on as well so. 00:07:12.92\00:07:15.63 But now you have something else that you read. 00:07:15.66\00:07:17.51 Well, they had a couple of comments 00:07:17.54\00:07:19.07 that was being made in here and it was talking about, 00:07:19.10\00:07:20.87 it called it the five simple choices to make. 00:07:20.90\00:07:23.41 And one of course is that 00:07:23.44\00:07:24.59 of being empowered, know the facts. 00:07:24.62\00:07:27.02 You know, once again we just talked about the Go Red. 00:07:27.05\00:07:29.65 You can go online and get information 00:07:29.68\00:07:31.35 knowing those facts, the five facts about us 00:07:31.38\00:07:33.71 and heart disease and how we actually 00:07:33.74\00:07:35.26 have heart attacks and strokes different from that of men. 00:07:35.29\00:07:38.11 It also talked about knowing your numbers. 00:07:38.14\00:07:40.10 You know, the one thing that 00:07:40.13\00:07:41.69 I was surprised at the conferences, 00:07:41.72\00:07:43.28 both conference that we had, 00:07:43.31\00:07:44.85 the Women's Wellness Week as well as the Heart, 00:07:44.88\00:07:46.60 Million Heart Conference was that we asked the question, 00:07:46.63\00:07:49.14 how many of you in here know 00:07:49.17\00:07:51.15 your cholesterol scores, triglycerides scores, 00:07:51.18\00:07:54.56 your LDL, your HDL, 00:07:54.59\00:07:56.23 all those numbers that deal with the fat levels 00:07:56.26\00:07:58.53 and a lot of them did not know their numbers. 00:07:58.56\00:08:01.87 And then on top of that sometime they did the reading 00:08:01.90\00:08:04.70 and they found out their scores, 00:08:04.73\00:08:06.05 the overall cholesterol score, 00:08:06.08\00:08:07.50 we talked about that before heart disease 00:08:07.53\00:08:09.25 was very, very high. 00:08:09.28\00:08:10.78 But then I said you to go in 00:08:10.81\00:08:12.14 and see what is your triglyceride level, 00:08:12.17\00:08:13.89 your HDL, your LDL, the HDL, 00:08:13.92\00:08:16.57 high-density lipoprotein. 00:08:16.60\00:08:17.68 These are the good guys. 00:08:17.71\00:08:18.75 We want to have those numbers up high. 00:08:18.78\00:08:20.53 Back in the day they used to say 00:08:20.56\00:08:22.37 that those numbers were about, may be 30 you would be okay. 00:08:22.40\00:08:24.96 No, no, no, no, 00:08:24.99\00:08:26.02 now where we are looking at anything 50 and above, 00:08:26.05\00:08:28.60 okay, for the level. 00:08:28.63\00:08:29.86 And so this can be something 00:08:29.89\00:08:31.17 that can drive a women's numbers up. 00:08:31.20\00:08:33.49 She might be above the number where she is supposed to be, 00:08:33.52\00:08:35.71 but when you go inside the cholesterol 00:08:35.74\00:08:38.10 and look at those different numbers, 00:08:38.13\00:08:39.82 that's where the rubber meets the road. 00:08:39.85\00:08:41.25 Okay. 00:08:41.28\00:08:42.35 we also had and this is also a good critical thing to do 00:08:42.38\00:08:46.14 to if the peripheral arterial disease better known as PAD. 00:08:46.17\00:08:51.44 Where we went to... 00:08:51.47\00:08:54.40 Crestwood Hospital in Huntsville, 00:08:54.43\00:08:56.21 and they had a free screening of the PAD, 00:08:56.24\00:08:58.57 peripheral arterial disease. 00:08:58.60\00:09:00.06 They had a Doppler to deal 00:09:00.09\00:09:01.41 and put in a Doppler on our leg, 00:09:01.44\00:09:04.05 and the doctor came in, 00:09:04.08\00:09:05.78 and you can hear the blood flow through our veins, our legs. 00:09:05.81\00:09:09.71 He did on both of our legs and this doctor said 00:09:09.74\00:09:13.53 this is one of the best legs I have ever seen. 00:09:13.56\00:09:16.10 You guys must be walkers. 00:09:16.13\00:09:17.56 And of course we do walk, 00:09:17.59\00:09:19.07 but again it just tells you that 00:09:19.10\00:09:20.90 by walking on a consistent basis, 00:09:20.93\00:09:23.17 we increase our blood flow. 00:09:23.20\00:09:24.69 So he says, this is one of the best legs 00:09:24.72\00:09:27.46 he has ever seen. 00:09:27.49\00:09:29.16 He wasn't trying to heal me, 00:09:29.19\00:09:30.41 just talking from a medical standpoint. 00:09:30.44\00:09:31.76 No, no, no, no. 00:09:31.79\00:09:32.86 He said, actually it was both of us in the room. 00:09:32.89\00:09:34.93 Yeah, both of us were in the room together. 00:09:34.96\00:09:36.47 And then Curtis being a gentleman 00:09:36.50\00:09:37.85 that he is he said ladies first. 00:09:37.88\00:09:40.31 So he did my legs first, then he did your legs. 00:09:40.34\00:09:42.83 Then he said, this are the best legs 00:09:42.86\00:09:44.73 I've ever seen, I mean, I can't believe it. 00:09:44.76\00:09:46.30 Then he asked us we were walkers 00:09:46.33\00:09:47.70 and he questioned us, so which means 00:09:47.73\00:09:49.05 that's one of the other real key points 00:09:49.08\00:09:51.25 that is walking is another key point. 00:09:51.28\00:09:54.20 Because see one corporate or cardiovascular disease, 00:09:54.23\00:09:58.99 of course there are coronary arteries in the heart 00:09:59.02\00:10:01.11 is that if the arteries are bad in the leg, 00:10:01.14\00:10:04.71 if they're clogged up, all right, collocation, 00:10:04.74\00:10:08.29 therefore it could be more likely clog 00:10:08.32\00:10:11.32 in the coronary arteries in the heart as well. 00:10:11.35\00:10:15.23 So that's the indication. 00:10:15.26\00:10:16.57 If the legs are good, 00:10:16.60\00:10:18.00 arteries are good in the legs, good circulation, 00:10:18.03\00:10:20.80 more than likely there's a good circulation 00:10:20.83\00:10:22.32 in the coronary arteries and also the carotid artery 00:10:22.35\00:10:25.81 'cause every time the heart beats 00:10:25.84\00:10:27.50 20% of blood goes through 00:10:27.53\00:10:28.91 the carotid artery to the brain. 00:10:28.94\00:10:30.68 So therefore carotid artery is clogged 00:10:30.71\00:10:33.73 and of course you have a stroke 00:10:33.76\00:10:35.27 with arteries in the coronary arteries 00:10:35.30\00:10:37.29 that you have heart attack. 00:10:37.32\00:10:38.35 So if the legs are healthy, 00:10:38.38\00:10:40.72 it's a good indication the arteries in the heart 00:10:40.75\00:10:44.31 and the carotid artery is also healthy as well, 00:10:44.34\00:10:46.52 so this is a good way of determining 00:10:46.55\00:10:48.73 one's cardiovascular health. 00:10:48.76\00:10:50.39 One of thing is really good here too, Curtis, 00:10:50.42\00:10:52.13 and that is that in our community 00:10:52.16\00:10:54.08 they have the different health events 00:10:54.11\00:10:55.82 and stuff to come through 00:10:55.85\00:10:57.16 and of course by it's being a self supported ministry 00:10:57.19\00:10:59.84 which means we'll follow 1C3 00:10:59.87\00:11:01.56 and we eat from God's hand to our mouth, 00:11:01.59\00:11:04.45 so that means that when it comes to insurances 00:11:04.48\00:11:06.24 and stuff like that, we used to have a issue 00:11:06.27\00:11:08.72 because we did not have it at that time. 00:11:08.75\00:11:10.61 And so along with that when these different things 00:11:10.64\00:11:12.46 came in like the free screenings 00:11:12.49\00:11:14.27 that come into communities, 00:11:14.30\00:11:15.70 we were always there for free screening 00:11:15.73\00:11:17.23 and this one here, 00:11:17.26\00:11:18.31 it had to with the legs and veins, 00:11:18.34\00:11:19.70 it was a free screening so. 00:11:19.73\00:11:21.25 Check it out in your neighborhood. 00:11:21.28\00:11:22.40 Okay, now, what we're going to do first, people. 00:11:22.43\00:11:25.36 We really need to zero in on the symptoms 00:11:25.39\00:11:30.01 of heart attack and the symptoms 00:11:30.04\00:11:34.33 of a stroke for women not men, 00:11:34.36\00:11:39.13 for women because this is Go Red. 00:11:39.16\00:11:44.03 So our focus is on women and cardiovascular health. 00:11:44.06\00:11:49.16 Therefore the symptoms are not the same, 00:11:49.19\00:11:52.30 some are similar but then these symptoms 00:11:52.33\00:11:55.29 may not be as, you know, prevalent in men 00:11:55.32\00:11:58.99 but they are more prevalent in women. 00:11:59.02\00:12:00.34 So let's go to screen. 00:12:00.37\00:12:01.44 Let's look at some of the symptoms 00:12:01.47\00:12:02.85 that women can experience 00:12:02.88\00:12:03.92 as far as heart attack is concern. 00:12:03.95\00:12:06.95 All right, the warning signs. 00:12:06.98\00:12:08.32 Number one, now we all hear and see the, 00:12:08.35\00:12:11.68 you know, they typical 00:12:11.71\00:12:13.21 someone grabbing their chest, chest pain. 00:12:13.24\00:12:15.21 Okay, we get that men and women. 00:12:15.24\00:12:17.57 But what you may not know that women in particular 00:12:17.60\00:12:21.96 also experience or can experience 00:12:21.99\00:12:24.59 shortness of breath. 00:12:24.62\00:12:26.35 Folks, we are talking about weeks before a heart attack, 00:12:26.38\00:12:31.01 shortness of breath. 00:12:31.04\00:12:32.57 Sweating, nausea/vomiting. 00:12:32.60\00:12:36.57 Nausea, those who of course in United States 00:12:36.60\00:12:38.78 know about Rosie O' Donnell, 00:12:38.81\00:12:41.18 popular actor here who has been reported 00:12:41.21\00:12:43.76 to have nausea and vomiting, 00:12:43.79\00:12:45.79 regurgitation several weeks 00:12:45.82\00:12:48.47 before she had her heart attack in 2012. 00:12:48.50\00:12:51.23 So we're not talking about days 00:12:51.26\00:12:52.95 but sometimes weeks of nausea, of vomiting, fatigue. 00:12:52.98\00:12:57.15 Look at this, jaw and neck pain. 00:12:57.18\00:13:01.58 This is not typical in men, but it can be typical in women. 00:13:01.61\00:13:06.46 And what happens with the jaw pain and neck pain, 00:13:06.49\00:13:08.72 sometimes the heart... 00:13:08.75\00:13:10.94 does not give a signal that is stress, 00:13:10.97\00:13:14.22 therefore the pain irradiates into jaw and the neck. 00:13:14.25\00:13:19.43 This can be days even weeks before a heart attack. 00:13:19.46\00:13:24.15 I remember one cardiovascular doctor 00:13:24.18\00:13:27.69 mention that she had a patient that every time 00:13:27.72\00:13:30.72 she walked on treadmill, her jaw hurt. 00:13:30.75\00:13:34.81 When she got off the treadmill, the jaw stop hurting, 00:13:34.84\00:13:38.12 she went on treadmill again, the jaw hurt. 00:13:38.15\00:13:41.04 And lo and behold she says later on that woman 00:13:41.07\00:13:43.89 actually experienced a heart attack, so jaw pain. 00:13:43.92\00:13:46.95 And this is something that women simply overlook 00:13:46.98\00:13:50.63 that we need to understand 00:13:50.66\00:13:51.93 that this is one of the symptoms 00:13:51.96\00:13:53.66 of becoming a heart attack victim, 00:13:53.69\00:13:57.40 heart attacks and strokes, all right. 00:13:57.43\00:13:59.40 Now, I want to say something about strokes, 00:13:59.43\00:14:01.78 that's heart attack strokes. 00:14:01.81\00:14:03.60 Johns Hopkins they did a survey of over, 00:14:03.63\00:14:07.37 just over 1000 hospitals 00:14:07.40\00:14:11.03 incorporating about 187,000 patients 00:14:11.06\00:14:14.91 as far as strokes were concerned 00:14:14.94\00:14:17.91 not heart attacks but strokes. 00:14:17.94\00:14:19.87 They determined that two of the main symptoms 00:14:19.90\00:14:24.99 of a stroke, two symptoms 00:14:25.02\00:14:27.72 that most people misdiagnosed going to the ER, 00:14:27.75\00:14:31.65 they had dizziness and headaches. 00:14:31.68\00:14:35.20 And determine that some of those people 00:14:35.23\00:14:37.00 were turned away, send back home 00:14:37.03\00:14:40.71 because they thought, oh, she has a migraine 00:14:40.74\00:14:42.60 or just chronic fatigue syndrome 00:14:42.63\00:14:44.80 and within 7 days a lot of those people 00:14:44.83\00:14:48.60 actually had to stroke who were sent home misdiagnosed 00:14:48.63\00:14:53.13 and those two symptoms was dizziness and headache. 00:14:53.16\00:14:57.42 So those are also some symptoms of stroke as well, 00:14:57.45\00:15:01.16 because women's vessels are smaller than men. 00:15:01.19\00:15:04.18 So we need to be mindful that these symptoms 00:15:04.21\00:15:06.77 that we may not be mindful about once we know that 00:15:06.80\00:15:09.62 and beware of that that we should make 00:15:09.65\00:15:11.27 those rightful decisions right away. 00:15:11.30\00:15:13.78 Well, you know, sometimes, ladies, 00:15:13.81\00:15:14.93 we get so busy with stuff going on with our family 00:15:14.96\00:15:17.25 and our neighbors and running hither thither 00:15:17.28\00:15:19.53 and yon that even when things start up, 00:15:19.56\00:15:22.33 we just ignore it. 00:15:22.36\00:15:24.24 I've often heard a story that we will get to the point 00:15:24.27\00:15:26.81 where we get so sick until we don't even ask 00:15:26.84\00:15:30.09 anybody to take us to the hospital. 00:15:30.12\00:15:31.85 We just get in the car and go our self 00:15:31.88\00:15:33.69 have a heart attack of stroke on our way to the hospital. 00:15:33.72\00:15:36.59 So when things happen, 00:15:36.62\00:15:37.81 when you're feeling that stress, 00:15:37.84\00:15:38.99 when you're feeling that pain, 00:15:39.02\00:15:40.05 you're feeling the stuff in your jaw, 00:15:40.08\00:15:41.54 you know go to the hospital. 00:15:41.57\00:15:43.15 We also say dial 911 or get to the hospital 00:15:43.18\00:15:47.32 because that can actually save your life, you know. 00:15:47.35\00:15:49.66 And I think that whole thing of talking about 00:15:49.69\00:15:51.83 the different ways we experience 00:15:51.86\00:15:53.29 heart attacks and stroke is so key. 00:15:53.32\00:15:55.50 And of course, you know, more information, 00:15:55.53\00:15:56.93 now of course our show is so short, 00:15:56.96\00:15:58.66 but more information about Go Red is out there, 00:15:58.69\00:16:00.96 also the women's initiative is out there as well 00:16:00.99\00:16:04.24 and so what other things do can we talk about that 00:16:04.27\00:16:07.20 actually can help us here as well. 00:16:07.23\00:16:09.10 Well, there is one key thing that 00:16:09.13\00:16:11.25 we can talk about finishing up on this topic right here 00:16:11.28\00:16:14.05 when it comes to, particularly it comes to women is-- 00:16:14.08\00:16:17.58 Well, let's just go to the screen. 00:16:17.61\00:16:18.76 Let just talk about this. 00:16:18.79\00:16:20.17 I want to read this and we gonna expand 00:16:20.20\00:16:21.76 on this right here. 00:16:21.79\00:16:23.25 The Stress Factor! This is a Mayo Clinic. 00:16:23.28\00:16:26.28 This is profound ladies. 00:16:26.31\00:16:28.22 "Stress is the strongest risk factor 00:16:28.25\00:16:35.05 predicting future cardiac events." 00:16:35.08\00:16:39.29 Stress, now we can talk a whole program 00:16:39.32\00:16:42.10 just on stress itself. 00:16:42.13\00:16:44.34 Sometimes women do a lot of things 00:16:44.37\00:16:46.28 and too much on their plate, 00:16:46.31\00:16:47.97 not taking time off for themselves. 00:16:48.00\00:16:50.03 They're taking care of all the other family members 00:16:50.06\00:16:52.57 but themselves causes stress, 00:16:52.60\00:16:55.04 a lack of sleep, all these things impact 00:16:55.07\00:16:58.72 the central nervous system, the heart muscle, 00:16:58.75\00:17:02.11 therefore you got the symptoms. 00:17:02.14\00:17:03.66 If we're not aware of those symptoms 00:17:03.69\00:17:05.68 then sometime we just forget about 00:17:05.71\00:17:07.84 oh, I'm, just having a little headache 00:17:07.87\00:17:09.31 or little pain in the jaw, in the neck 00:17:09.34\00:17:11.90 and you know, eventually it may be a heart attack 00:17:11.93\00:17:15.98 or the dizziness, headache 00:17:16.01\00:17:17.63 or just a light, slight headache, 00:17:17.66\00:17:19.54 little dizziness little bit, may be it's vertical 00:17:19.57\00:17:22.15 because some ER doctors misdiagnose this as vertical. 00:17:22.18\00:17:27.96 Absolutely. 00:17:27.99\00:17:29.04 And sent the women home. 00:17:29.07\00:17:31.40 Some within 48 hours actually had a stroke, 00:17:31.43\00:17:35.69 so therefore we need to be mindful of that. 00:17:35.72\00:17:37.79 Well, it's lot we can talk about 00:17:37.82\00:17:38.89 on this subject once again too 00:17:38.92\00:17:40.15 'cause every subject can be almost hour or two hours long. 00:17:40.18\00:17:42.66 So if you want more information about that 00:17:42.69\00:17:44.08 like we said before you can gored.com.org. 00:17:44.11\00:17:47.36 And also you can get information 00:17:47.39\00:17:49.45 from the women's government 00:17:49.48\00:17:53.00 that has a whole slew of information 00:17:53.03\00:17:54.86 for women and women heart disease and also stroke. 00:17:54.89\00:17:57.71 There are certain names and numbers 00:17:57.74\00:17:59.40 we need to keep in our mind and if you're not feeling good, 00:17:59.43\00:18:02.91 don't just stay home please. 00:18:02.94\00:18:05.52 Dial 911, get somebody or get to the hospital. 00:18:05.55\00:18:10.20 You know, it's very, very, very touchy subject 00:18:10.23\00:18:13.41 but it's one that need to be talked about. 00:18:13.44\00:18:15.61 And we're going into the kitchen 00:18:15.64\00:18:16.72 because you know, one of the things 00:18:16.75\00:18:17.93 we talked about was high cholesterol 00:18:17.96\00:18:19.48 and all the kinds, so we'll go and taste some good food today. 00:18:19.51\00:18:22.10 We're gonna stir, do a stir fry, 00:18:22.13\00:18:24.13 mixed vegetable, get your paper and your pencil 00:18:24.16\00:18:26.20 and meet us in kitchen. 00:18:26.23\00:18:27.88
