No, I want to publicly thank 00:01:13.52\00:01:16.73 you in front of the people while they're listening. 00:01:16.76\00:01:18.51 Okay, just get yourself together. Okay. 00:01:19.84\00:01:22.35 Now, anyway, this is a running series on diabetes, 00:01:22.38\00:01:26.67 defeating diabetes. This is a series and this is the last 00:01:26.70\00:01:30.08 part of a four part series on that and we're gonna 00:01:30.11\00:01:33.45 talking about diabetes and botanical medicine, 00:01:33.48\00:01:35.59 and not just botanical medicine. 00:01:36.40\00:01:37.77 we say botanical as opposed to herbs, 00:01:37.80\00:01:39.58 botanical because we're dealing with botany, 00:01:39.87\00:01:42.79 but some people use the word herbs, 00:01:43.51\00:01:45.64 so we can use that probably 00:01:45.67\00:01:47.04 interchangeably but we also going to be talking 00:01:47.07\00:01:48.98 about supplementation too, in relationship to 00:01:49.01\00:01:51.69 nerve damage, neuropathy as well. 00:01:51.72\00:01:53.72 So, want to stay tuned for all of this 00:01:53.75\00:01:57.31 whole series, defeating diabetes. 00:01:57.34\00:01:59.13 Defeating diabetes, we've been through a 00:01:59.16\00:02:00.53 whole out talking about different things. 00:02:00.56\00:02:02.06 Oh! Yes, we have. Maybe we want to do a little 00:02:02.09\00:02:03.46 quick review of that. You can go ahead on and review, 00:02:03.49\00:02:07.60 I mean everything is gonna in our workbook even so. 00:02:07.86\00:02:10.58 Well, that's true too. You know, I know we got a 00:02:10.61\00:02:12.55 quite a bit we're gonna cover especially with this 00:02:12.58\00:02:14.17 botanical medicine, looking into botanical medicine. 00:02:14.20\00:02:17.05 Okay. So, they need this either you know 00:02:17.08\00:02:20.82 get the work book. Okay. It's all there. 00:02:20.85\00:02:23.13 Alright, I want to start off, because when you think 00:02:23.16\00:02:25.72 about diabetes I always hear about nerve damage, 00:02:25.75\00:02:28.77 that's true, to the feet speak specifically, 00:02:28.80\00:02:31.00 so talk a little bit about diabetes as it relates 00:02:31.03\00:02:34.45 to nerve damage. Nerve damage, yeah, 00:02:34.48\00:02:37.07 a lot of people who are diabetic do have 00:02:37.32\00:02:40.06 nerve damage. Now, the medical term is neuropathy. 00:02:40.09\00:02:43.50 Neuro meaning nerve. Neuropathy, nerve damage, 00:02:44.00\00:02:46.94 and 40 to 50 percent people have some type 00:02:47.19\00:02:50.76 of nerve damage. The reason being because 00:02:50.79\00:02:53.68 when there is too much glucose, blood sugar 00:02:54.02\00:02:57.78 in the blood stream it damage the nerves, 00:02:58.45\00:03:01.60 so nerve damage. Now, with that in mind we have 00:03:01.97\00:03:05.18 basically three types of nerves. We have the motor 00:03:05.21\00:03:09.14 nerves and this deals with muscle weakness and cramps. 00:03:09.17\00:03:13.36 For people who may have weakness in their muscles, 00:03:13.39\00:03:16.88 their legs, whatever, then that's due to because 00:03:16.91\00:03:19.39 of the motor nerve are damaged, 00:03:19.42\00:03:21.70 that's one type. Another type we have is called 00:03:21.73\00:03:24.93 sensory nerve and those nerves is due to, 00:03:25.18\00:03:28.71 the symptoms are the numbness, pain, 00:03:28.74\00:03:32.39 or shooting or burning sensation in the 00:03:33.09\00:03:35.75 fingers and toes. Sensory nerves and so when 00:03:35.78\00:03:39.49 people have that is usually because their 00:03:39.52\00:03:41.74 sensory nerves are damaged, alright 00:03:41.77\00:03:43.58 and then the last group of nerves is autonomic nerves, 00:03:43.61\00:03:48.68 which is basically involuntary, such as 00:03:48.71\00:03:51.90 the nerves in our stomach, we call that gastroparesis, 00:03:51.93\00:03:55.12 the medical term. And when this happens 00:03:55.15\00:03:57.51 the symptoms are when we eat food since 00:03:57.54\00:04:00.82 the nerves in our stomach are damaged because 00:04:00.85\00:04:03.79 of the high glucose, blood sugar in the blood stream 00:04:03.82\00:04:07.84 it damage the nerves in our stomach. 00:04:08.03\00:04:10.78 Now, as a result of that we have bloating, 00:04:10.96\00:04:13.98 we have indigestion, food simply does not 00:04:14.65\00:04:18.80 digest properly. Wow, that's a lot of stuff 00:04:18.83\00:04:22.55 going on. Yes, it is, you know. And we can also 00:04:22.58\00:04:25.27 include foul breath as well. We do have a picture 00:04:25.30\00:04:28.14 of nerve damage, neuropathy. Okay. 00:04:28.38\00:04:31.32 So, let's look at the screen at this time 00:04:31.35\00:04:32.78 and there you have here, of course this is a 00:04:33.36\00:04:34.97 sensory nerve dealing with the fingers and toes 00:04:35.00\00:04:37.39 here dealing with the toes and you see here 00:04:37.42\00:04:40.10 a reduced blood flow at the top there and then as 00:04:40.13\00:04:43.08 the nerves gets smaller and the feet, of course 00:04:43.11\00:04:45.72 you have the damaged nerve and that's due to 00:04:45.75\00:04:47.90 high glucose, high blood sugar in the blood stream 00:04:47.93\00:04:51.86 and it damaged those nerves, that's why you 00:04:51.89\00:04:53.94 have the tingling, the numbness, the burning 00:04:53.97\00:04:57.16 sensation in toes and also the fingers as well. 00:04:57.19\00:05:00.38 Well, is there any drugs that can help with this? 00:05:01.56\00:05:05.53 Yeah, there are some drugs that will help with the 00:05:05.56\00:05:07.77 nerve damage, probably most well-known drug 00:05:07.80\00:05:10.75 is Lyrica you probably heard that on television. 00:05:10.78\00:05:13.85 Lyrica is the main drug of choice for nerve damage 00:05:13.88\00:05:17.85 for those who have that diabetic nerve damage 00:05:17.88\00:05:19.84 I should say, put it that way. But, of course, 00:05:19.87\00:05:22.42 now with all drug medication, of course, 00:05:22.45\00:05:24.93 we have side effects. I know, I know. 00:05:24.96\00:05:26.93 And so some of the side effects of that drug 00:05:26.96\00:05:28.74 and of course, this is well-known on their 00:05:28.77\00:05:31.42 container. A lot of people have allergic 00:05:31.45\00:05:33.68 reaction to Lyrica. Such as? 00:05:33.71\00:05:36.20 Well, number 1, some of course like I said 00:05:36.77\00:05:39.44 their allergic reaction is swelling of the hands, 00:05:39.47\00:05:43.58 the face, that's quite common with Lyrica, 00:05:43.85\00:05:48.00 also dizziness, a lot of people experience that, 00:05:48.30\00:05:51.64 not everybody, but some people, sleepiness, 00:05:51.86\00:05:55.04 that's another side effect of Lyrica. 00:05:55.07\00:05:56.98 Now, that's the good news. The other thing is that 00:05:57.23\00:06:00.87 you also experience some people blurred vision, 00:06:00.90\00:06:04.76 weight gain, increase of depression 00:06:05.79\00:06:09.85 and suicidal thoughts. So because of these baleful 00:06:10.81\00:06:16.03 side effects or then with this nerve damage, 00:06:16.06\00:06:18.37 just as of late, which is somewhat of a surprise, 00:06:18.56\00:06:21.82 the American Diabetes Association had just 00:06:21.85\00:06:24.63 published a book on herbs and supplementation 00:06:24.66\00:06:28.44 for the diabetic. The American Diabetes 00:06:28.69\00:06:31.02 Association which is quite worried because 00:06:31.05\00:06:33.00 they don't really get into herbs 00:06:33.03\00:06:34.44 That's true, that's true. 00:06:34.47\00:06:35.84 So, partially because of these baleful side effects 00:06:35.87\00:06:37.24 they see it necessary to go ahead and publish 00:06:37.47\00:06:39.93 a book on that and it kind of brief through 00:06:39.96\00:06:42.19 some of that and the least they are going in a 00:06:42.22\00:06:45.37 good direction. Because a lot of people have taken 00:06:45.40\00:06:47.28 these supplementations and herbal medicines any way, 00:06:47.31\00:06:49.82 so they said we might as go ahead and publish 00:06:49.93\00:06:51.90 a book concerning that as well. 00:06:51.93\00:06:53.30 But you can see, you can understand 00:06:53.33\00:06:54.70 why they published that type of book because 00:06:54.73\00:06:56.97 a lot of people are moving in that direction because 00:06:57.00\00:06:58.73 of side effects. Absolutely, absolutely, absolutely, 00:06:58.76\00:07:00.24 a lot of times, we know what's going on now. 00:07:00.27\00:07:01.64 As people were going to their doctors, 00:07:01.67\00:07:03.04 that's right, and trying to find out what's going on. 00:07:03.07\00:07:04.92 You know, all the commercials out now, 00:07:04.95\00:07:06.32 it scares you half to death. You know, 00:07:06.35\00:07:08.18 once a day a new drug comes in the market 00:07:08.21\00:07:10.58 then it began to show the side effects, 00:07:10.61\00:07:12.96 sometimes it goes long and long and long and long. 00:07:12.99\00:07:15.57 And it's scary, it's scary. And a lot of people 00:07:15.60\00:07:19.89 wind up taking other drugs, right, to remedy the 00:07:20.33\00:07:23.05 side effects of another drug and so the list gets 00:07:23.08\00:07:26.23 longer and longer. Any natural were always 00:07:26.26\00:07:29.21 available then. Yeah, there are some natural things 00:07:29.24\00:07:32.51 that a person can do that's been clinically 00:07:32.54\00:07:35.04 proven to be very effective and, of course, 00:07:35.07\00:07:38.52 in your workbook we have a whole list of clinical 00:07:38.55\00:07:40.90 studies as far as this natural product 00:07:40.93\00:07:43.59 is concerned, in relationship to lessening the damage 00:07:43.62\00:07:47.97 of our nerve due to a high glucose in blood stream. 00:07:48.00\00:07:50.61 And so with this in mind and this is a product 00:07:50.92\00:07:53.54 that naturally is produced by the body, 00:07:54.18\00:07:57.61 by bioflavonoid. Let's go to the screen, 00:07:57.77\00:07:59.75 lets look at this product at this time, 00:07:59.78\00:08:01.23 it's called "Alpha Lipoic Acid" again it's naturally 00:08:02.16\00:08:06.72 produced from the body. Wow! Total symptom 00:08:06.75\00:08:09.90 score including the pain, burning 00:08:09.93\00:08:14.45 and numbness in feet decreased significantly 00:08:14.78\00:08:18.81 from baseline today 19. This is what the medical 00:08:19.07\00:08:24.17 journal called diabetes, in another words 00:08:24.20\00:08:25.94 interpretation of that is where a person has 00:08:25.97\00:08:29.77 let's say the sensory nerves, fingers and toes. 00:08:29.80\00:08:33.09 They have their burning, they have their pain, 00:08:33.12\00:08:35.73 they have their numbness, Alpha Lipoic acid. 00:08:36.24\00:08:39.83 Get it at any health food store based on that study 00:08:40.01\00:08:43.55 it was 800 milligrams per day and over a course 00:08:43.58\00:08:48.29 of less than 3 weeks, 19 days for a significant 00:08:48.32\00:08:51.68 decrease in the pain, the burning and the numbness, 00:08:51.71\00:08:55.57 so it eases the symptoms of nerve damage neuropathy, 00:08:56.14\00:09:00.30 Alpha Lipoic acid. And first thing without any other 00:09:00.33\00:09:05.00 baleful side effects that the other drug can give. 00:09:05.03\00:09:08.79 So, a lot of people are now moving in that direction 00:09:08.82\00:09:10.92 and therefore, they can see a better improvement 00:09:10.95\00:09:13.11 on their overall life. What about diabetic drugs? 00:09:13.14\00:09:16.18 Well, again same as the other drugs for 00:09:16.73\00:09:20.20 nerve damage, of course, diabetic drugs also have 00:09:20.23\00:09:23.50 their list of side effects as well, probably the most 00:09:23.53\00:09:26.51 well-known been in the paper and in news 00:09:26.54\00:09:29.44 as of late is Avandia. Oh! Yeah. 00:09:29.47\00:09:31.56 You've heard that, yes, yes, yes, Avandia 00:09:31.59\00:09:33.17 and what they've done is they collected 42 clinical 00:09:33.20\00:09:38.47 studies, we call this meta-analysis. We look 00:09:38.50\00:09:41.15 at 42 studies, put them all together and analyze 00:09:41.18\00:09:45.33 all 42 studies on this drug Avandia, okay, 00:09:45.36\00:09:48.88 and they discovered that this drug also causes 00:09:48.91\00:09:51.70 dizziness and drowsiness. But also discovered 00:09:51.73\00:09:56.10 that a group of lot of clinical studies done 00:09:56.13\00:09:59.48 on this, a group of individuals took 00:09:59.51\00:10:01.11 this drug. They realize that over 50 percent 00:10:01.14\00:10:04.26 of the people had a heart attack. 00:10:04.29\00:10:06.40 On this drug Avandia for diabetes. 00:10:06.90\00:10:09.30 And some 63 percent of the people die from a 00:10:10.15\00:10:15.29 cardiovascular event either a heart attack 00:10:15.32\00:10:17.83 or a stroke by taking this drug Avandia for diabetes. 00:10:17.86\00:10:22.91 And because of that of course there's a lot 00:10:23.39\00:10:25.20 of litigations, law suits, hundreds of them because 00:10:25.23\00:10:28.98 of this as well, so Food and Drug Administration simply 00:10:29.01\00:10:31.86 had to pull this off the shelf, because of the 00:10:31.89\00:10:33.55 baleful side effects of this drug. 00:10:33.58\00:10:35.15 There are other drugs out there as well who may 00:10:35.40\00:10:37.06 not give that drastic baleful side effect 00:10:37.09\00:10:39.91 but that's just one drug that the people are using, 00:10:39.94\00:10:43.86 they were using at that time and they realized 00:10:44.36\00:10:46.97 that its just not doing the job that most people 00:10:47.00\00:10:50.10 want them to do, want the drug to do. 00:10:50.13\00:10:51.85 Well, you know, its one thing to have a debilitating 00:10:52.44\00:10:54.82 disease and then another thing to get some type 00:10:54.85\00:10:57.83 of a drug that's supposed to help control or cure. 00:10:57.86\00:11:02.11 But then to have extra side effects to go along 00:11:02.72\00:11:05.51 with that as well. So, I know that someone 00:11:05.54\00:11:07.27 is asking a question, is there any herbal 00:11:07.30\00:11:10.14 or supplementation that an individual can began 00:11:11.01\00:11:13.69 to take or take that can help to keep from 00:11:13.72\00:11:16.25 having these types of side effects. 00:11:16.28\00:11:17.91 Yes, and absolutely there are so many herbs, 00:11:17.94\00:11:22.64 botanical medicine in the plant kingdom that can 00:11:23.32\00:11:27.66 lessen the glucose in the blood stream and bring 00:11:27.69\00:11:31.33 into us normalcy. Many herbs that can do that 00:11:31.36\00:11:33.81 and you have cinnamon, you have Fenugreek, 00:11:34.27\00:11:37.86 you have Golden Seal, you have garlic, 00:11:38.15\00:11:39.58 you have onions, bitter melon, I mean the list 00:11:39.61\00:11:41.75 goes on and on. However, there is one botanical, 00:11:41.78\00:11:46.16 one herb, head and shoulders above all other 00:11:46.91\00:11:51.58 herbs that can actually does a remarkable thing 00:11:51.61\00:11:56.21 as far as diabetes is concerned. 00:11:56.24\00:11:58.34 Let's go to the screen at this time because 00:11:58.62\00:12:00.55 this is really a remarkable statement. 00:12:00.58\00:12:02.75 New Birth! The botanical, the herb, 00:12:03.41\00:12:07.52 Gymnema Sylvestre, this is a leaf extract, 00:12:08.12\00:12:12.31 significantly increases the regeneration of beta-cells, 00:12:12.34\00:12:20.05 and this is found in a medical journal called 00:12:21.51\00:12:23.45 Phytomedicine. Phyto meaning plant, 00:12:23.48\00:12:26.63 plant medicine. And the reason why this works 00:12:26.66\00:12:29.72 so well because we talked about this in a previous 00:12:29.75\00:12:31.89 program, chromium enhances the accessibility 00:12:31.92\00:12:37.32 of insulin, okay, chromium, the trace 00:12:37.35\00:12:40.31 mineral that we talked about that we can get 00:12:40.34\00:12:42.11 in broccoli and also whole grain products, 00:12:42.14\00:12:45.25 alright, the breads, buns, that kind of thing. 00:12:45.28\00:12:46.99 So, with that in mind of all the herbs in the herbal 00:12:47.37\00:12:52.29 kingdom, Gymnema Sylvestre has one of the 00:12:52.32\00:12:55.74 highest contents of chromium. Wow! Okay. 00:12:55.77\00:12:59.76 That's why you know that Gymnema Sylvestre 00:12:59.79\00:13:01.87 works very well and based on good sound 00:13:01.90\00:13:05.19 clinical studies. We are looking about 00:13:05.22\00:13:06.59 400 milligrams per day and so in time when a person 00:13:06.62\00:13:10.45 does that and uses this particular botanical 00:13:10.48\00:13:13.34 we always emphasize if you're using any type 00:13:13.71\00:13:15.92 of supplementation, any type of botanical medicine, 00:13:15.95\00:13:19.31 always make sure that your health care professional 00:13:19.73\00:13:22.31 be aware that you are using some other type of 00:13:22.34\00:13:25.15 products other than the drug that was prescribed 00:13:25.62\00:13:28.16 for you, that way they can monitor you. 00:13:28.19\00:13:30.33 You can monitor yourself and they're able to make 00:13:30.36\00:13:32.55 some necessary adjustments to your medication because 00:13:32.58\00:13:35.24 once this herb begins to regenerate the beta-cells 00:13:35.27\00:13:38.58 and again this is very important, beta-cells are 00:13:38.61\00:13:41.97 the only cell in a pancreas that produce insulin, 00:13:42.00\00:13:44.96 the beta-cells. Okay. Therefore, once they are 00:13:45.30\00:13:48.49 regenerated give the beta-cells new birth then 00:13:48.52\00:13:52.00 the insulin is now being produced more and need less 00:13:52.03\00:13:55.39 of the medication or less of the insulin even for those 00:13:55.42\00:13:58.09 who are taking 20 to 30 units. So, this is part 00:13:58.12\00:14:00.87 of a total protocol, a total package as far as 00:14:00.90\00:14:04.46 normalizing those glucose levels, Gymnema Sylvestre 00:14:04.49\00:14:07.18 and this is purchased at any health food store. 00:14:07.21\00:14:09.67 Now, I know, now you've done this before, 00:14:10.61\00:14:13.39 where you've talked about a disease and we have 00:14:13.63\00:14:15.85 talked about a medication or a drug they might 00:14:15.88\00:14:18.29 be taking, then someone asked a question about 00:14:18.32\00:14:20.67 what can I do from a natural standpoint 00:14:20.70\00:14:22.44 and you do that. Then we always have people 00:14:22.47\00:14:24.79 in the audience, in our community, in our church 00:14:24.82\00:14:27.25 that will say things like can I take Gymnema Sylvestre 00:14:27.28\00:14:30.11 and I don't have, oh yeah, diabetes. 00:14:30.14\00:14:31.59 Yes. The answer is no. You know, 00:14:31.62\00:14:33.41 if it's not broke don't be trying to fix it. 00:14:33.44\00:14:35.86 You know what I'm saying. That's true, absolutely. 00:14:35.89\00:14:37.26 So you don't need to go out and take 00:14:37.29\00:14:38.66 Gymnema Sylvestre, you know, as a precursor 00:14:38.69\00:14:41.14 or we say precursor because we think 00:14:41.17\00:14:43.73 we might, but basically you're talking now if 00:14:43.76\00:14:46.35 that drug, if the drug is being offered to you 00:14:46.38\00:14:48.40 to consider Gymnema Sylvestre, right, along with 00:14:48.88\00:14:51.92 your medication, right, now that's a good point, 00:14:51.95\00:14:53.32 checking with your physician, letting him know 00:14:53.35\00:14:54.99 what's going on and then you going to see the drop. 00:14:55.02\00:14:57.43 Now remember now, it's not, we've been talking 00:14:57.46\00:14:59.39 also about exercise, talking about food. We are now 00:14:59.42\00:15:01.76 on botanical medicine and those of you who miss 00:15:01.79\00:15:03.34 the food and the exercise you have to go back 00:15:03.37\00:15:06.02 and get the work book on that, but that's very, 00:15:06.05\00:15:08.11 very important to know we don't need to 00:15:08.14\00:15:10.32 take it, if there is nothing going on. 00:15:10.35\00:15:11.86 Yeah, an excellent point because this is not a 00:15:11.89\00:15:14.38 magic bullet, no, a lot of people will take that herb, 00:15:14.41\00:15:17.50 that botanical and do nothing else, this is part 00:15:17.92\00:15:21.21 of a complete package. Yes, yes. We talked earlier, 00:15:21.24\00:15:24.20 also on exercise about sunshine, you know, 00:15:24.23\00:15:26.75 getting out there and walking. Okay. 00:15:26.78\00:15:28.15 So what role does sunshine play as far as 00:15:28.18\00:15:30.60 this is concerned, as far as diabetes. 00:15:30.63\00:15:32.14 Well, it plays a very critical and now this is 00:15:32.17\00:15:34.56 something that anybody can do without cost, 00:15:34.59\00:15:37.36 without price. When sunlight strikes the skin 00:15:37.39\00:15:43.59 it moves the glucose in the skin into our muscles 00:15:44.19\00:15:48.60 and liver automatically. And we need about 00:15:48.95\00:15:53.23 may be 10 to 15 minutes of sunlight exposure. 00:15:53.26\00:15:56.08 Now, make sure the skin is dry and clean 00:15:56.11\00:15:58.61 and more skin exposed to more sunlight probably 00:15:58.84\00:16:02.12 you should get with that as well. And of course, 00:16:02.15\00:16:04.68 you know, you want to expose the skin 00:16:05.91\00:16:07.95 but of course you want to be decent at the same time 00:16:08.23\00:16:10.41 as well, but again sunlight will move the glucose 00:16:10.44\00:16:13.76 out of the skin, out of the blood stream and move it 00:16:14.10\00:16:16.80 into our muscles, stores it or into our liver 00:16:16.83\00:16:21.54 and stores it. Sunlight does it automatically 00:16:21.86\00:16:24.56 and it lasts for several hours, so sunlight is very 00:16:24.59\00:16:27.32 good for that, so we're giving a lot of people, 00:16:27.35\00:16:29.40 a lot of information honey, lots of information, 00:16:29.43\00:16:31.04 about sunlight treatment, yes, also botanical 00:16:31.07\00:16:33.81 medicine, herbs, supplementations 00:16:33.84\00:16:37.26 for nerve pain, neuropathy, we talk about carbohydrates, 00:16:37.29\00:16:41.69 the right carbs and so positive thinking and lot 00:16:41.72\00:16:44.54 more is in our workbooks, so hopefully these lifestyle 00:16:44.57\00:16:47.98 adjustments can be enhanced and 00:16:48.72\00:16:50.74 improve someone's overall well being. 00:16:50.77\00:16:52.72 And along with all that we also threw in, 00:16:53.34\00:16:56.27 or put or added in the part of the nutrition 00:16:57.13\00:17:01.36 as far as the recipes are concerned. That's right. 00:17:01.39\00:17:03.26 So you get a chance to also have the recipes that 00:17:03.29\00:17:05.75 match up with the different shows as well. 00:17:05.78\00:17:07.36 Absolutely. Well, today is also one of those days 00:17:07.39\00:17:10.76 we are actually going to be doing a chicken salad, 00:17:10.79\00:17:13.16 that's a mock chicken salad. Okay. 00:18:11.71\00:18:15.12 Now, I like this particular recipe and I can do 00:18:39.27\00:18:44.42 it two ways; one into either a mock egg salad 00:18:44.46\00:18:49.58 and then a mock chicken because we've been talking 00:18:49.95\00:18:51.71 a lot about getting rid of all the cholesterol 00:18:51.74\00:18:54.43 in a diet especially when we talked about some 00:18:54.46\00:18:56.59 shows back. We spoke about the fact of too much 00:18:56.62\00:18:59.52 fat in a diet actually coats the cell and when it goes 00:18:59.55\00:19:02.84 to cell, it's impedes the ability for the insulin 00:19:02.87\00:19:06.74 to get to the cell and take the sugar, 00:19:06.77\00:19:09.44 the glucose inside. That's true. 00:19:09.47\00:19:11.18 And so a lot of time we talked about the fact 00:19:11.21\00:19:13.06 that used the word sugar diabetes does not mean 00:19:13.09\00:19:16.57 a lot of sugar. It just means there is sugar 00:19:16.60\00:19:19.23 present in the blood. So, it's not the cause 00:19:19.26\00:19:21.79 and we covered that as well. But then remember, 00:19:21.82\00:19:23.76 remember, remember, somebody saw that show 00:19:23.79\00:19:25.78 and said, okay, she said it was okay for me to 00:19:25.81\00:19:27.78 have my sugar and don't worry about the fat. 00:19:27.91\00:19:30.40 Because sugar doesn't cause diabetes, 00:19:30.43\00:19:31.96 so I can have my cookies, cakes and pies. 00:19:31.99\00:19:33.68 Yeah, but really and truly what's happening 00:19:33.71\00:19:35.30 is the processed foods we talked about that also, 00:19:35.33\00:19:38.15 the process food is where that extra amount of fat 00:19:38.18\00:19:40.21 and those sugars are there which causes the problem 00:19:40.24\00:19:42.44 for the diabetic and you know it causes a problems 00:19:42.47\00:19:44.07 of everybody but for a diabetic in particular, 00:19:44.10\00:19:46.57 okay, now. Now, these foods here now this can be 00:19:46.60\00:19:50.01 either a chicken salad or a eggless salad. Yes. 00:19:50.04\00:19:53.15 It is based on a textured tofu itself. It depends on 00:19:53.18\00:19:55.50 and also, yeah, not only the texture but the type. 00:19:55.53\00:19:58.71 Okay. Your firm, extra firm, they do a different thing 00:19:58.98\00:20:01.94 then your softs and your medium firm, 00:20:01.97\00:20:04.05 so the different textures of the tofu 00:20:04.08\00:20:05.56 we talked about other also in our books as well. 00:20:05.59\00:20:07.93 Now, so again. So, the extra firm will be more 00:20:08.11\00:20:10.99 of a chicken type texture because it's more. 00:20:11.02\00:20:13.01 Whole-firm, firm. A firm, okay, we start with more 00:20:13.04\00:20:16.05 of egg type of texture. Yes. Okay, but now 00:20:16.08\00:20:18.78 how do you get it to be if you are try and make into 00:20:18.81\00:20:21.80 those textures. What we do, Curtis? 00:20:21.83\00:20:23.43 What to do is this is very critical here at this stage, 00:20:23.46\00:20:26.47 this process. If you get your water, if you get 00:20:26.50\00:20:30.64 a tofu in a water pack, I know why my wife 00:20:30.67\00:20:33.77 is laughing at this time. But if you get your tofu 00:20:33.80\00:20:35.68 in a water pack you want to put it in the freezer 00:20:35.71\00:20:38.23 whole, keep it there for at least 2 days 00:20:38.80\00:20:41.59 and take it out, you thaw it out and then you press 00:20:41.85\00:20:44.97 it against two paper cloth towels, press it so that 00:20:45.00\00:20:48.73 all the water is out and then you crumble it up 00:20:48.76\00:20:51.53 and you have a meat type texture, is that correct? 00:20:51.56\00:20:55.55 Alright, alright, alright, alright, so you are about 00:20:55.58\00:20:57.52 ready to have your own show. You're ready 00:20:57.55\00:20:59.25 to be own chef. You know what I'm saying. 00:20:59.28\00:21:01.46 But, I mean can you fill it in the blanks 00:21:01.49\00:21:03.32 or was that sufficient or what? You did a good job. 00:21:03.35\00:21:05.26 You did good. I know Anne out there is saying. What? 00:21:05.29\00:21:07.65 It wasn't that smooth, but I hope we got the idea, 00:21:09.99\00:21:12.22 but again, yeah, so but that can be done because 00:21:12.25\00:21:15.59 if it's firm or extra firm is more of a meaty type 00:21:15.62\00:21:18.92 texture. If it's soft, it's more of a egg type texture. 00:21:18.95\00:21:21.72 Right, right. So, what we're gonna do in this 00:21:21.75\00:21:23.77 particular one here as you know I talked about 00:21:23.80\00:21:25.54 the celery, I already started dicing some of 00:21:25.57\00:21:27.34 the celery up, so let's go ahead and dice the rest 00:21:27.37\00:21:29.28 of that, okay, and then I also talked about 00:21:29.31\00:21:31.26 the scallion. I gonna go ahead and dice that 00:21:31.29\00:21:33.41 up as well. We've already started dicing it up 00:21:33.44\00:21:35.62 and you're jut gonna dice up in a nice size pieces. 00:21:35.65\00:21:38.09 It goes really, really well, yes it does, 00:21:42.01\00:21:45.52 in this particular recipe, okay. I'm gonna start as 00:21:45.55\00:21:49.67 Curtis is finishing that up. I gonna start mashing up 00:21:49.70\00:21:52.35 the tofu, just with my fork I am just gonna mash it. 00:21:52.81\00:21:56.27 Now, that's the firm. Or we called crumble. 00:21:56.30\00:21:58.57 That firm, okay. Or you can use firm or extra firm. 00:21:58.60\00:22:00.83 Either one can work on this one, okay. 00:22:00.86\00:22:02.77 A lot of people, you know, may not have worked 00:22:03.08\00:22:05.85 with tofu. Don't know how to use this so. 00:22:05.88\00:22:08.11 This is one of the way of getting the tofu, 00:22:08.85\00:22:10.39 the soy based products in the system, yes, 00:22:10.42\00:22:13.20 has plant protein, not animal proteins so it 00:22:13.65\00:22:16.14 does not stress out the kidneys or does not raise 00:22:16.17\00:22:18.57 the blood pressure, and it has also the calcium, 00:22:18.60\00:22:21.68 and this is type of fat that the body needs, 00:22:22.55\00:22:25.29 the good type of fats. And better equalization 00:22:25.32\00:22:28.10 of calcium then actually have now. 00:22:28.13\00:22:29.93 That's true. The calcium, that's true. 00:22:29.96\00:22:31.33 The soy family has that ability and I am gonna 00:22:31.76\00:22:35.12 go ahead on and ask you to go ahead and put in. 00:22:35.15\00:22:36.80 let's go ahead and start that celery in here first. 00:22:36.83\00:22:38.76 Move the celery in and we got that one there 00:22:38.80\00:22:42.30 also as well, okay, okay, I also like this one because 00:22:42.33\00:22:45.71 it's very colorful, alright, go ahead and put in, 00:22:45.74\00:22:48.73 get all the goodies, all the goodies. 00:22:48.76\00:22:50.62 All the goodies baby. Yeah. Okay. Okay, 00:22:50.65\00:22:52.43 and then let's go ahead on and do also the scallions 00:22:52.46\00:22:56.24 as well, okay. Scallions and onion are the same 00:22:56.27\00:22:59.79 thing. But are in same family. In the same family, 00:22:59.82\00:23:01.95 yes, okay. Okay. Put that in also. Alright. Now, 00:23:01.98\00:23:08.85 I also talked about a soy mayonnaise, okay, 00:23:08.88\00:23:12.48 we're gonna do a soy mayonnaise rather than a 00:23:13.40\00:23:15.90 regular mayonnaise or salad dressing because once again 00:23:15.93\00:23:19.11 we are limiting the amount of eggs and anything else 00:23:19.14\00:23:22.23 that might be in that mayonnaise. 00:23:22.26\00:23:23.63 So, we're gonna actually use a soy mayonnaise 00:23:23.66\00:23:25.03 in place of it, but before I do that Curtis. 00:23:25.06\00:23:26.50 I would like for you to actually squeeze the 00:23:26.53\00:23:28.90 lemon, so we have lemon juice in this as well. 00:23:28.93\00:23:30.85 Okay, where is my squeezer. What did you do 00:23:30.88\00:23:33.34 with it last Curtis? Okay, you're just blasting me. 00:23:33.37\00:23:36.89 Okay, I'm just going to squeeze it right here. 00:23:40.36\00:23:43.19 You put it somewhere. This is going be hard 00:23:43.22\00:23:46.10 right here, boy I tell you. You can do it, 00:23:46.13\00:23:48.09 you can do it. Yeah, lifting weighs really. 00:23:48.12\00:23:51.27 Look at that. Really help out right now, Yes, 00:23:51.30\00:23:53.28 it does. Yes, it does. This is a nice size firm 00:23:53.31\00:23:56.32 one too. Okay, now you want seeds in this or what. 00:23:56.35\00:24:00.07 No, I don't think I want any seeds in it Curtis, 00:24:00.78\00:24:02.93 okay, if you see any seeds in it, I would like to, 00:24:02.96\00:24:04.49 well, you did good, only one seed is there. 00:24:04.52\00:24:06.34 Yeah, only one. Just one. Let me get this out. 00:24:06.37\00:24:08.28 Okay. Okay. Now, let's do this. I want to take 00:24:09.06\00:24:11.58 this bowl. This one out and I'm gonna have you. 00:24:11.61\00:24:14.10 We're gonna go ahead and make this mixture up, 00:24:14.61\00:24:16.28 alright. Okay. So we're gonna go ahead 00:24:16.31\00:24:17.68 and take our spatula. Let's go ahead and put 00:24:17.71\00:24:19.60 the mayonnaise, soy mayonnaise in here. 00:24:19.63\00:24:21.75 Here you go. Oh! Okay. In there. And then I'm gonna 00:24:21.99\00:24:24.56 go ahead and also put in the soy sauces, 00:24:24.59\00:24:27.80 soy sauce lite or you can use Braggs, liquid aminos, 00:24:27.83\00:24:31.37 either one of those can be the type of ingredient 00:24:31.91\00:24:36.54 you can put into this, so I'm gonna go ahead 00:24:36.57\00:24:37.94 and pour it in. Curtis go ahead, we're gonna 00:24:37.97\00:24:39.34 put it in now the onion powder. Powder, 00:24:39.37\00:24:42.62 okay in here. And we're gonna go ahead 00:24:42.65\00:24:44.79 and put in the turmeric for coloring. For coloring, 00:24:44.82\00:24:47.60 yes. And let's go ahead and put in the lemon juice 00:24:47.63\00:24:49.39 in there as well. Alright. Alright and with your fork 00:24:49.42\00:24:52.09 you're gonna go ahead and spin that around 00:24:52.12\00:24:53.49 a little bit. Spin it round with the fork. 00:24:53.52\00:24:55.94 Yeah, you now, just kind of turn it around. 00:24:56.37\00:24:58.46 Turn it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. 00:24:58.49\00:25:00.14 Do you want me to fold it? No, I don't you 00:25:00.17\00:25:01.93 to fold it, just go ahead and just go ahead, 00:25:01.96\00:25:04.29 spin it, spin it, spin it, spin it. Oh! Okay, 00:25:04.32\00:25:07.05 at this, I like this salad, 'cause all your 00:25:07.08\00:25:08.87 seasonings' going to be in here, okay, it's going 00:25:08.90\00:25:11.20 to be in there. Good, good, good, Curtis. 00:25:11.23\00:25:13.20 Okay, I'm gonna take that spatula and you're gonna 00:25:14.09\00:25:19.03 go ahead on and let's go ahead and mix that all in. 00:25:19.06\00:25:21.04 Okay, you do that and this gets the coloring. 00:25:21.59\00:25:25.86 Because it has to look like that right now, 00:25:28.08\00:25:29.47 it's not, it's not as appetizing or as pretty 00:25:29.50\00:25:32.38 as it's going to be, once we mix this all together. 00:25:32.41\00:25:34.09 Because we eat with our eyes.
