High cholesterol levels is a risk factor for heart 00:00:01.98\00:00:03.36 disease and stroke. This nation's number 00:00:03.39\00:00:06.15 one and number three killers. 00:00:06.18\00:00:07.81 So, do you have a high cholesterol lifestyle, 00:00:08.23\00:00:10.91 our program is entitled "Controlling 00:00:11.45\00:00:13.64 Cholesterol" part 1 so stay by. 00:00:13.67\00:00:15.78 Hi, welcome to Abundant Living, 00:00:41.05\00:00:42.48 I'm Curtis Eakins, and this is my beautiful 00:00:42.51\00:00:44.83 bride, Paula Eakins. Alright, how are 00:00:44.86\00:00:47.81 you doing today honey? I'm doing wonderful today. 00:00:47.84\00:00:49.61 And you are looking mighty good too. 00:00:49.64\00:00:51.01 Thank you very much. You usually looks good 00:00:51.13\00:00:52.52 anyway so I praise the Lord for that. 00:00:52.55\00:00:54.19 Praise Him, yes indeed He. Yes. 00:00:54.78\00:00:56.42 Okay today, today we are gonna be talking 00:00:56.65\00:00:58.59 about cholesterol. We are gonna be talking 00:00:58.62\00:01:00.07 about cholesterol. Now we are gonna 00:01:00.10\00:01:01.57 have this in two parts, this is part one and then 00:01:01.60\00:01:04.48 next time we meet we will go with part two as well. 00:01:04.51\00:01:06.54 Cholesterol is a topic that, just like I said 00:01:06.95\00:01:09.50 before is contributing factor to this nation's 00:01:09.53\00:01:11.81 number one and number three killers heart 00:01:11.84\00:01:13.92 disease and stroke so. We are gonna look at 00:01:13.95\00:01:15.95 some numbers HDL, LDL, VLDL, 00:01:15.98\00:01:20.62 cholesterol ratio and all these kind of good things. 00:01:20.65\00:01:23.06 And despite the information out on the 00:01:23.36\00:01:26.50 cholesterol, people still have 00:01:26.53\00:01:28.75 high cholesterol levels. Yep, and I think 00:01:28.78\00:01:31.49 cholesterol has gotten a bad rap, you know 00:01:31.93\00:01:34.00 it's just like fat you know we do need fat 00:01:34.03\00:01:37.13 certain types of fat. We do need cholesterol, 00:01:38.08\00:01:40.68 certain types of cholesterol. 00:01:40.71\00:01:42.08 So, we are gonna look into this 00:01:42.11\00:01:43.48 topic quite thoroughly. Well I guess the first 00:01:43.51\00:01:46.93 question, that the always might have is 00:01:46.96\00:01:49.02 what exactly is cholesterol? 00:01:49.05\00:01:50.86 And what is the purpose in the body? 00:01:51.05\00:01:52.93 Okay, cholesterol is a fat, waxy, yellow 00:01:53.20\00:01:59.06 substance that's found in the bloodstream and 00:01:59.66\00:02:02.29 also in all body cells. And as main purpose of 00:02:02.32\00:02:05.70 cholesterol was to simply take the fat from 00:02:05.73\00:02:08.38 the liver and transport throughout the body 00:02:08.41\00:02:10.76 and then also go back to the liver and then take 00:02:11.26\00:02:13.29 some more fat to distribute throughout 00:02:13.32\00:02:14.88 the body and cholesterol itself. 00:02:14.91\00:02:16.78 So, is a transport system and it uses the blood 00:02:16.81\00:02:20.21 vessels as it's highway to do that. 00:02:20.24\00:02:22.88 So, again we do need cholesterol now again 00:02:23.42\00:02:26.04 some of the purposes for cholesterol number 00:02:26.07\00:02:29.33 one's for cell membrane manufacture of sex 00:02:29.36\00:02:32.84 hormone, steroids, brain cell, central nervous 00:02:32.87\00:02:36.94 system, organ protection, reproduction, body energy. 00:02:36.97\00:02:41.63 So, you see we do need cholesterol contrary to 00:02:42.07\00:02:46.20 I don't know maybe not popular belief but some 00:02:46.51\00:02:48.63 people think they oh I don't want cholesterol, 00:02:48.66\00:02:51.08 you know that, that causes heart disease. 00:02:51.11\00:02:52.74 Well folks we do need cholesterol but again in 00:02:52.77\00:02:56.45 certain amounts it's really advantageous for 00:02:56.48\00:02:59.19 our body system on a daily basis. 00:02:59.22\00:03:01.03 Now I guess the thing that I'm thinking about 00:03:01.06\00:03:02.61 when you say we do need cholesterol and 00:03:02.64\00:03:04.70 you gave very good definition about what 00:03:04.73\00:03:06.82 it's used for inside the body? 00:03:06.85\00:03:08.22 First thing I'm thinking about and I'm wondering 00:03:08.54\00:03:10.11 if you're thinking the same thing, is that mean 00:03:10.14\00:03:11.84 I eat a lot of cholesterol foods and 00:03:11.87\00:03:13.52 what we able to do that. Okay, okay see I can 00:03:13.55\00:03:16.17 see the emails right now, oh yes. 00:03:16.20\00:03:17.57 Well Curtis saying and Paula saying we need 00:03:17.60\00:03:19.33 cholesterol so we can go through these fast 00:03:19.36\00:03:21.95 food restaurants and eat these big burgers, 00:03:21.98\00:03:24.28 and double cheese and double quarter pounder 00:03:24.31\00:03:28.73 and you know fryers, oh that's cholesterol 00:03:28.76\00:03:31.52 and we need cholesterol folks and I can see that 00:03:31.55\00:03:34.55 email coming yeah. And I guess that our 00:03:34.58\00:03:36.54 next question is gonna be then where exactly 00:03:36.57\00:03:39.04 does this cholesterol which you are taking 00:03:39.51\00:03:41.07 about come from? Okay. Well first of all 00:03:41.10\00:03:43.94 let me say this I just thought about this, 00:03:44.67\00:03:46.63 cholesterol comes from God. 00:03:46.66\00:03:50.29 Why because God created our bodies, 00:03:51.33\00:03:54.92 so when God formed man from the dust of 00:03:55.43\00:03:59.75 the ground. He fashioned his body, 00:03:59.78\00:04:02.10 He also formed the internal organs of the 00:04:02.61\00:04:05.78 body too to function properly. 00:04:05.81\00:04:07.57 Therefore having said that let me say this. 00:04:08.25\00:04:10.30 There is one organ in particular when God 00:04:10.93\00:04:14.32 made mankind that is responsible for the 00:04:14.35\00:04:18.84 manufacturing of cholesterol 00:04:18.87\00:04:21.61 in the beginning. So this is God's plan 00:04:21.72\00:04:23.82 and we are again we say this text quite often but 00:04:24.09\00:04:27.00 again we are fearfully and wonderfully made. 00:04:27.03\00:04:32.94 Now let's go to our first graphic let's see what 00:04:33.14\00:04:34.82 we talking about here. There's a little man 00:04:34.85\00:04:37.20 there and he has cholesterol, 00:04:37.23\00:04:38.76 now going there are two sources of cholesterol 00:04:38.79\00:04:41.96 that goes into the body. Let's look at the top 00:04:41.99\00:04:44.16 source first of all, the source that goes right 00:04:44.19\00:04:47.17 inside of our mouth, honey. 00:04:47.20\00:04:48.57 Now of course we have the eggs there, 00:04:48.92\00:04:50.69 we have the bacon and we have what's that 00:04:50.72\00:04:53.15 hamburger and French fries and ice cream and 00:04:53.60\00:04:57.05 cake and burger. So, all of those foods 00:04:57.08\00:04:59.88 contain cholesterol, again anything that 00:05:00.15\00:05:04.25 comes from the animal kingdom that has a 00:05:04.28\00:05:06.97 mother or a face contains cholesterol. 00:05:07.00\00:05:09.82 So, these foods animal products 00:05:09.85\00:05:12.11 contain cholesterol. So, when we eat that 00:05:12.32\00:05:14.33 then of course our body has a high 00:05:14.36\00:05:16.33 incident of cholesterol. And that can be 00:05:16.36\00:05:19.58 anywhere from 100 to 500 mg per day based 00:05:19.61\00:05:24.05 on one's diet. Now some people eat 00:05:24.08\00:05:26.20 than that, but again 1 to 500 maybe more. 00:05:26.23\00:05:29.11 But, now look at the bottom there the liver, 00:05:29.46\00:05:31.80 as I said before the liver is designed by God to 00:05:31.96\00:05:36.57 manufacture all the cholesterol 00:05:36.60\00:05:38.27 that the body needs. The liver manufactures 00:05:38.30\00:05:41.18 up to 1000 mg of cholesterol 00:05:41.21\00:05:45.11 per day the liver. So, if we do not eat any 00:05:45.14\00:05:48.50 other food that contains cholesterol the liver will 00:05:48.53\00:05:52.84 do its job effectively without any cholesterol 00:05:52.87\00:05:56.20 coming to our body thought our mouths. 00:05:56.23\00:05:57.95 So, liver does its job, yeah. 00:05:58.33\00:06:00.22 We tilt the scales against us when we 00:06:00.62\00:06:03.15 take in food that contains cholesterol. 00:06:03.18\00:06:05.71 Now we have a surplus of cholesterol. 00:06:06.13\00:06:08.40 So, what you are saying then is that we don't 00:06:08.88\00:06:10.44 really need to have cholesterol in our foods, 00:06:10.47\00:06:12.79 because, right, by do anything. 00:06:13.18\00:06:14.55 Because God created our bodies to 00:06:14.58\00:06:17.00 manufacture that cholesterol. 00:06:17.03\00:06:19.28 So, again everything points back 00:06:19.62\00:06:21.20 to God the creator. That's why sometimes 00:06:21.23\00:06:24.12 we talked about the curbing the carbs a few 00:06:24.50\00:06:28.89 weeks ago and again some people who 00:06:28.92\00:06:31.63 advocate evaluation. The big bang theory or 00:06:31.66\00:06:35.60 amoeba that was in the water and it grew on 00:06:35.63\00:06:39.22 dry land and then it climbed up the trees 00:06:39.25\00:06:41.87 and snapped his tail and became my great, great, 00:06:41.90\00:06:43.37 great, great grandfather, you know. 00:06:43.40\00:06:44.77 Well folks you know God is not honored by 00:06:45.09\00:06:49.86 that theory, so we need to look at the word of 00:06:49.89\00:06:52.90 God, see how we are created and if we look at 00:06:52.93\00:06:56.03 anatomy and physiology. Just basic anatomy and 00:06:56.06\00:06:58.96 physiology the more we read, the more we study 00:06:58.99\00:07:01.53 the more it points back to God our creator that 00:07:02.36\00:07:05.54 He has placed this liver in our system to 00:07:05.57\00:07:08.66 manufacture the cholesterol. 00:07:08.69\00:07:10.06 And other things in the body that it needs too, 00:07:10.16\00:07:12.10 so everything points back to God. 00:07:12.13\00:07:14.05 Well I think the thing that's so amazing is 00:07:14.49\00:07:16.16 talking about the cholesterol issue but all 00:07:16.83\00:07:18.42 the information that comes from 3ABN. 00:07:18.45\00:07:20.35 That we're constantly trying to uplift God and 00:07:20.86\00:07:25.19 keeping them in the position where he needs 00:07:25.22\00:07:26.59 to be as the creator of everything all things okay. 00:07:26.62\00:07:29.27 So everything points back to God, 00:07:29.74\00:07:31.11 everything, another thing that also increases 00:07:31.14\00:07:33.54 our cholesterol is emotional stress. 00:07:33.57\00:07:36.39 See we can not eat any cholesterol type foods 00:07:37.04\00:07:40.32 into our mouth be a vegetarian or be a 00:07:40.35\00:07:42.71 vegan vegetarian or plant based diet. 00:07:42.74\00:07:44.75 But, yet have not the where with all to manage 00:07:45.40\00:07:48.32 emotional stress, that in itself 00:07:48.76\00:07:51.62 will raise our cholesterol. 00:07:51.85\00:07:53.22 Also not getting enough sunlight, 00:07:53.93\00:07:56.98 now we did a program several years ago 00:07:57.01\00:07:58.83 entitled there's something new on the sun. 00:07:58.86\00:08:01.54 And of course we don't have time to go through 00:08:02.20\00:08:03.76 that but just to purpose that, to see what are not 00:08:03.79\00:08:07.83 sun at well low your cholesterol it does 00:08:07.86\00:08:09.98 lower your cholesterol by the way go outside 00:08:10.01\00:08:12.50 in the sun preferably maybe mid morning or 00:08:12.53\00:08:16.20 late afternoon with most of your skin exposed. 00:08:16.35\00:08:19.53 Now of course folks you want still be you 00:08:19.66\00:08:21.35 know decent you know maybe doing in the 00:08:21.38\00:08:23.55 backyard with lot of bushes around, still decent. 00:08:23.58\00:08:25.59 Yeah but still decent, skin exposed to the 00:08:25.62\00:08:28.35 sunlight, for at least maybe 30 minutes or an 00:08:28.38\00:08:30.74 hour, go back inside and check your cholesterol, 00:08:30.77\00:08:33.55 your cholesterol would drop and so very 00:08:33.58\00:08:36.14 amazing for us, sunlight will lower your 00:08:36.17\00:08:37.66 cholesterol, emotional stress 00:08:37.69\00:08:39.69 how to handle that. Anti-stress measures 00:08:39.72\00:08:42.77 will lower one's cholesterol. 00:08:42.80\00:08:44.17 So, it's not just a food issue and there's also 00:08:44.20\00:08:46.41 genetic disposition as well, but again we don't 00:08:46.44\00:08:49.64 really promote that as much because I think a 00:08:49.67\00:08:51.56 lot of times that has been given so much 00:08:51.59\00:08:55.10 credibility of genetic disposition where 00:08:55.48\00:08:57.90 I think a lot of times it's really lifestyle overall. 00:08:57.93\00:09:01.23 Yeah I'm kind of thinking and also in 00:09:01.26\00:09:03.10 the same line which you are saying about being 00:09:03.13\00:09:05.80 under stress, right. And then actually going 00:09:05.83\00:09:07.94 out and taking a walk in nature, yes. 00:09:07.97\00:09:09.54 Taking a walk when the sun is out, we always 00:09:09.57\00:09:12.41 say once again that you wanna go out before 00:09:12.44\00:09:14.55 10'O clock before sun gets very hot and then 00:09:14.58\00:09:16.94 you don't want to do again later on the afternoon. 00:09:16.97\00:09:18.59 But, just going out being a nature, right, 00:09:19.01\00:09:21.52 take a walk with the sun on 00:09:21.55\00:09:23.72 you and the Son of God in you. 00:09:23.75\00:09:25.76 Okay watch it now, okay, okay you start 00:09:25.79\00:09:27.77 preaching now baby, now that will take the 00:09:27.80\00:09:29.45 stress down, okay and it will also 00:09:29.48\00:09:32.34 lower the cholesterol. Alright talk 50 girl 00:09:32.37\00:09:35.04 alright you got to go on now. 00:09:35.07\00:09:36.44 Don't get you started; okay, okay now. 00:09:37.95\00:09:39.72 Okay, another thing is that make sure that we 00:09:39.99\00:09:42.48 do this sunlight treatment that we 00:09:42.51\00:09:44.29 wanna make sure that the skin is dry and clean. 00:09:44.32\00:09:46.43 That way it will not cause any burning 00:09:46.70\00:09:49.17 sensation, to those who usually get skin cancer 00:09:49.20\00:09:53.16 or those individuals who have a high fat diet 00:09:53.19\00:09:57.09 in their meal planning. So, again when the 00:09:57.49\00:10:01.33 sunlight strikes the skin because of the high fat 00:10:01.36\00:10:03.73 diet it will turn that skin to cancer so again those 00:10:03.76\00:10:07.26 who have a plant based diet and there's been 00:10:07.29\00:10:08.94 studies done in Houston, Texas about... 00:10:08.97\00:10:11.85 with different two groups of rats and in 00:10:12.58\00:10:14.76 fair one group of rats a plant based diet, 00:10:14.79\00:10:16.79 another group of rats a high fat diet. 00:10:17.54\00:10:19.72 And then they exposed both groups of rats to 00:10:19.95\00:10:22.09 the sunlight, the ultraviolet rays of the sun. 00:10:22.12\00:10:24.19 And those are rats had a plant based diet did not 00:10:24.61\00:10:27.24 have any skin cancers. Those rats have had a 00:10:27.27\00:10:29.56 fat based diet had a lot of skin cancers. 00:10:29.59\00:10:32.51 So, again it's not just the sunlight that causes 00:10:32.90\00:10:35.03 skin cancer but the foods that we eat, a high 00:10:35.06\00:10:38.10 fat diet that when sunlight does strike to 00:10:38.13\00:10:41.07 skin it turns to cancer. So, the sun is 00:10:41.10\00:10:43.88 not the blame, aright. Well, and of course 00:10:43.91\00:10:46.46 they want more information on that, 00:10:46.49\00:10:47.86 when they have to call back 3ABN 00:10:47.89\00:10:49.26 and get the tape or something. 00:10:49.29\00:10:50.66 Oh they email us yeah we give some more 00:10:50.69\00:10:52.06 information. Now let's look at some 00:10:52.09\00:10:53.72 letters here, we hear the LDL, VLDL, HDL. 00:10:54.78\00:10:58.93 Let's talk about that and what did they mean as 00:10:59.19\00:11:01.04 far as overall cholesterol is concerned. 00:11:01.07\00:11:02.79 Well first of all a lot of time, people are trying 00:11:02.82\00:11:04.38 to find out what their cholesterol levels are? 00:11:04.41\00:11:06.01 What they would do is go and you might be at 00:11:06.40\00:11:08.46 a health fair somewhere and you have them pick 00:11:08.49\00:11:10.32 your finger and you go off and you come back 00:11:10.35\00:11:12.32 to get that number to find out what your 00:11:12.35\00:11:14.05 cholesterol score is, okay. Basically when 00:11:14.08\00:11:16.91 you have your cholesterol done you 00:11:16.94\00:11:18.62 need to have we call a full blood panel. 00:11:18.65\00:11:21.19 Which means that they don't just pick the finger 00:11:21.55\00:11:23.56 and then just give you the overall score, 00:11:23.92\00:11:25.77 which can be very high. But you want them to 00:11:25.97\00:11:27.87 go inside and find out what those scores are? 00:11:27.90\00:11:30.08 Okay. You wanna find out what is your LDL, 00:11:30.11\00:11:32.02 like you said your HDL, your VLDL, okay. 00:11:32.05\00:11:34.58 LDL standing for Low Density Lipoprotein. 00:11:35.16\00:11:37.46 Okay. HDL, High- Density Lipoprotein. 00:11:37.84\00:11:40.51 And VLDL Very Low Density Lipoprotein. 00:11:40.93\00:11:44.38 And then also in that whole configuration is 00:11:44.66\00:11:46.46 also your triglyceride levels. 00:11:46.49\00:11:48.65 And you wanna make sure that you can see 00:11:49.00\00:11:50.75 these levels this for you actually go in and see 00:11:50.78\00:11:53.07 what's going on, okay. In order for fat to go 00:11:53.10\00:11:55.88 into the bloodstream, it has to be broken down 00:11:55.91\00:11:57.87 to his most single unit. And once that really get 00:11:57.90\00:12:00.68 on, we call a lipoprotein, it's called 00:12:00.71\00:12:02.84 lipoprotein it gets on the back of a 00:12:02.87\00:12:05.25 lipoprotein train and that's why it's call lipo 00:12:05.28\00:12:08.98 lipid protein, okay, gets on the train and on that 00:12:09.01\00:12:12.63 train it goes right into the cell to give us the 00:12:12.66\00:12:15.15 energy and the stuff that we need to have. 00:12:15.18\00:12:16.66 Well the HDL the good guys, the good guys, 00:12:16.99\00:12:20.28 going in very easily, the LDL means there's too 00:12:20.31\00:12:23.16 much fat still, VLDL very much fat and these 00:12:23.19\00:12:27.17 have a hard time. So, they remain in the 00:12:27.20\00:12:29.12 bloodstream and by the being of bloodstream 00:12:29.15\00:12:31.32 they calls a problem of building 00:12:31.48\00:12:32.85 up plaque in the system. Okay now look at some 00:12:32.88\00:12:35.57 numbers now the HDL, and LDL what numbers 00:12:35.60\00:12:38.30 that we're looking at that one and some time 00:12:38.33\00:12:39.96 it would be on a full panel blood lipid profile 00:12:39.99\00:12:42.32 but just for, in this program. 00:12:42.35\00:12:43.97 Well there was a time Curtis when I used to 00:12:44.00\00:12:45.37 say that if we could just get those HDL the good 00:12:45.40\00:12:47.14 guys above 35 will be good, yeah. 00:12:47.17\00:12:50.14 That's not been true, what's been going on 00:12:50.17\00:12:51.93 now is more research has come out and 00:12:51.96\00:12:53.47 they're discovering now that our HDL levels 00:12:53.50\00:12:55.45 need to be above 60, right, alright, above 60 00:12:55.48\00:12:58.17 HDL, now what about the LDL? 00:12:58.20\00:12:59.67 Now we do the LDL we're talking about 00:12:59.70\00:13:01.12 below a 100, okay. And the same thing 00:13:01.15\00:13:03.38 with our triglyceride levels. 00:13:03.41\00:13:04.78 You wanna get those numbers low because 00:13:05.03\00:13:07.00 the higher they are, the higher the overall score. 00:13:07.03\00:13:09.44 However I do wanna emphasize once again is 00:13:09.76\00:13:11.69 that you could have a nice high score which 00:13:11.72\00:13:13.87 Curtis is gonna talk about little bit later. 00:13:13.90\00:13:15.37 A high score but you HDL, the good guys are 00:13:15.70\00:13:18.73 ones gonna be high. We always say you 00:13:18.76\00:13:20.13 want high HDLs, Hi I'm so glad if you are here, 00:13:20.16\00:13:24.49 HDL the good guy, yes, yes, okay alright then. 00:13:24.52\00:13:27.09 Well so let's go. I think one of things that we 00:13:27.31\00:13:29.41 wanna talk about here is that the risk factors 00:13:29.44\00:13:31.55 concerning cholesterol, as it 00:13:31.77\00:13:33.25 relates to heart disease. Okay, yeah again high 00:13:33.28\00:13:36.72 cholesterol does have a risk factor for heart 00:13:36.75\00:13:39.41 disease and stroke. That's the number one 00:13:39.44\00:13:42.39 and number three killers in this nation and 00:13:42.42\00:13:44.33 of course when you combined those 00:13:44.36\00:13:45.73 together, you're looking at almost one million 00:13:45.76\00:13:48.17 people per year, wow. Okay cardiovascular 00:13:48.20\00:13:51.87 disease what we call in dying composes, 00:13:51.90\00:13:53.67 heart disease and stroke as well. 00:13:53.70\00:13:55.07 And so as cholesterol numbers go up the risk 00:13:55.49\00:13:59.88 of heart disease also goes up as well, 00:13:59.91\00:14:03.36 there is a direct correlation between the 00:14:03.53\00:14:05.17 two and that's been studied in numerous 00:14:05.20\00:14:08.32 occasions for the last 15, 20 years or so. 00:14:08.35\00:14:10.97 Let's look at our graphic here and let's really, 00:14:11.50\00:14:13.48 this is gonna be an eye opener. 00:14:14.21\00:14:15.58 At the bottom graph here you have the 00:14:16.34\00:14:17.83 cholesterol serum cholesterol number and 00:14:17.86\00:14:20.56 it starts at 140 and goes all the way to 300. 00:14:20.59\00:14:23.81 As you see here that the higher the overall 00:14:24.20\00:14:27.36 cholesterol the greater their heart disease 00:14:27.39\00:14:30.34 deaths from individuals who have heart 00:14:30.72\00:14:32.86 cholesterol numbers. Now at the left corner 00:14:32.89\00:14:35.96 there or left hand side of this graph that 00:14:35.99\00:14:38.63 represents 1000. So, again those individuals 00:14:38.66\00:14:42.83 who have a high cholesterol number, 00:14:42.86\00:14:45.51 then it would be a higher rate of death 00:14:46.17\00:14:48.57 from cardiovascular disease. 00:14:48.84\00:14:51.41 Now information out there in the media 00:14:51.85\00:14:54.55 suggests as of late that one's cholesterol should 00:14:54.70\00:14:57.57 be less than 200. But, again we are saying 00:14:57.60\00:15:01.67 the cholesterol should be less than 180. 00:15:01.95\00:15:06.64 So, when you see that 180 there, the left hand 00:15:07.16\00:15:09.91 side of that, very few people are dying with 00:15:09.94\00:15:12.69 cholesterol or less than 180. 00:15:12.72\00:15:14.52 But, again look at 180 and above. 00:15:14.93\00:15:17.44 There is a great amount of individuals who are 00:15:17.85\00:15:19.96 dying from heart disease and the 00:15:19.99\00:15:21.74 cholesterol is above 180 maybe 180 to 200 that's 00:15:21.77\00:15:25.35 quite a few there. So, again the lower 00:15:25.38\00:15:27.62 the cholesterol overall cholesterol then a less 00:15:27.65\00:15:30.63 rate of going of dying from heart disease. 00:15:30.66\00:15:33.98 So, we should also have our cholesterol below 180. 00:15:34.17\00:15:38.06 Now we even suggest, we even suggest to have 00:15:38.40\00:15:41.78 your overall cholesterol less than 150. 00:15:41.81\00:15:44.73 There is no one on record based on 00:15:45.78\00:15:47.71 Framingham studies there in New England 00:15:47.74\00:15:50.06 of anyone dying of one's cholesterol less 00:15:50.45\00:15:54.72 than 150. Now our cholesterol is in 140s 00:15:54.87\00:15:58.92 so we wanna get that 180 that's the maximum 00:15:59.11\00:16:02.94 but the lower the better, because you see on that 00:16:03.35\00:16:05.62 graph there that even those who have 00:16:05.65\00:16:07.66 cholesterol, let's say 180 to 200 there's still a 00:16:07.69\00:16:10.53 quite amount of death of those individuals 00:16:10.56\00:16:13.22 with that cholesterol number. 00:16:13.25\00:16:14.62 You know isn't that absolutely amazing 00:16:14.95\00:16:16.32 because I remember a time when they would 00:16:16.35\00:16:17.82 say our overall score was supposing 220, 00:16:17.85\00:16:20.57 yeah, oh 220. And then it went down to 200, 00:16:20.60\00:16:23.43 then it went down to 190, now we're saying 00:16:24.11\00:16:27.01 180 but really the lower the better, 00:16:27.04\00:16:29.59 the lower the better. Yeah, which means that 00:16:29.62\00:16:30.99 you can not have no milk, no eggs, 00:16:31.02\00:16:32.39 no cheese or anything in your diet. 00:16:32.42\00:16:33.79 I mean because actually the more foods you eat 00:16:33.82\00:16:35.58 that have cholesterol in them, then that means 00:16:35.61\00:16:37.58 that the more chance you gonna have with 00:16:37.61\00:16:39.40 the higher score. And the lifestyle and 00:16:39.43\00:16:41.70 into next time we meet, what would bring that 00:16:41.73\00:16:44.67 cholesterol down. There's foods in nature, 00:16:44.70\00:16:47.42 three foods in particular, a food 00:16:48.18\00:16:50.00 groups that would simply drop it down 00:16:50.03\00:16:52.02 just like medication, so that's 00:16:52.39\00:16:53.91 the next time we meet. We'll talk about that 00:16:53.94\00:16:55.58 ratio also about the ratio kind of explain to us 00:16:55.61\00:16:58.88 what does that mean by the ratio when 00:16:58.91\00:17:01.03 you talk about cholesterol? Okay let's go to our last 00:17:01.06\00:17:04.26 graphic and this is very profound as well we 00:17:04.29\00:17:06.33 need to understand the cholesterol ratio, 00:17:06.36\00:17:08.12 let's go to our last graphic. 00:17:08.15\00:17:09.52 Alright let's say that I have my cholesterol 00:17:09.63\00:17:12.31 check, now these are of course our fictitious 00:17:12.34\00:17:13.80 numbers are cholesterol I think last checking 00:17:13.83\00:17:15.84 about 140, but just for sake of graphic here 00:17:15.87\00:17:19.52 let's say my cholesterol is 190 overall cholesterol. 00:17:20.00\00:17:22.81 But, honey yours is 220 not at this point here it 00:17:23.15\00:17:27.62 would appear that I'm in better shape than you 00:17:27.65\00:17:30.52 are honey, could my cholesterol is lower 00:17:30.55\00:17:33.48 than your cholesterol? You must be eating 00:17:33.51\00:17:35.63 little bit more, I don't know cheeseburgers, 00:17:35.66\00:17:37.18 I don't know whatever. Okay now so at this 00:17:37.21\00:17:39.88 point here I'm in better shape, however let's go 00:17:39.91\00:17:43.94 to the next graphic here, let's look at the HDL, 00:17:43.97\00:17:47.77 remember now these are the good guys, 00:17:48.06\00:17:50.47 once HDL should be at least 60 or above. 00:17:51.08\00:17:55.14 Wait a minute now my HDL is only 38, 00:17:55.80\00:17:59.59 that's below the level 60 of course. 00:17:59.99\00:18:02.31 But now your HDL honey is 73, now to get 00:18:02.67\00:18:08.26 the ratio you divide cholesterol by the HDL. 00:18:08.29\00:18:12.22 So, therefore my ratio will be 5.0, 00:18:12.78\00:18:17.22 your ratio is 3.0 one's ratio 00:18:18.29\00:18:22.10 should be less than 3.5. So when you look at the 00:18:22.13\00:18:27.62 ratio the overall ratio the HDL and 00:18:27.65\00:18:31.53 cholesterol you're really in a better shape 00:18:31.56\00:18:34.21 because your HDL is very high there 00:18:34.43\00:18:37.20 by your ratio is less than 3.5. 00:18:37.23\00:18:40.85 Well you know Curtis made that graphic up 00:18:42.10\00:18:44.36 and let me just read on and say it for record. 00:18:44.39\00:18:46.55 I don't eat cheeseburgers hello, okay Mr. Eakins. 00:18:46.93\00:18:50.49 Now okay see that for the sake of illustration. 00:18:50.52\00:18:52.86 Okay for illustration, when I heard the word 00:18:52.89\00:18:54.66 cheeseburgers okay. And so let's just kind of 00:18:54.69\00:18:57.38 like a vegan stand point, galaxy cheese, tofutti 00:18:57.41\00:18:59.34 cheese, yeah let's you know let's talk about, 00:18:59.37\00:19:01.61 I had too much not so something 00:19:01.64\00:19:03.79 you know I'm saying? Yeah, they will say, 00:19:03.82\00:19:05.23 well like I see somebody email me say 00:19:05.26\00:19:06.63 girl you still eat cheeseburger, no way. 00:19:06.66\00:19:08.80 I make sure those for fictitious numbers. 00:19:08.83\00:19:11.02 Some people say when you people health 00:19:11.05\00:19:12.78 educators, your cholesterol is 00:19:12.81\00:19:14.18 220 what's going on here. You know what's when 00:19:14.21\00:19:16.01 I turn TV on, right Charley, did they say 00:19:16.04\00:19:19.30 she eat cheeseburgers. Okay moving along quickly, 00:19:19.33\00:19:21.38 because I know it's time, yeah it's time to 00:19:21.41\00:19:22.97 go into the kitchen; it is definitely time to go 00:19:23.00\00:19:24.48 into kitchen. Next time we meet folks we're 00:19:24.51\00:19:26.18 gonna be talking about those foods that will 00:19:26.21\00:19:27.87 simply drop down cholesterol without the 00:19:27.90\00:19:29.97 medication, so let's go to our recipe. 00:19:30.00\00:19:32.45 Alright, well you know once again I know 00:19:32.48\00:19:34.13 you're probably saying now are we gonna cook 00:19:34.16\00:19:35.53 on show and answer is yes now. 00:19:35.56\00:19:36.98 After talking the first level about cholesterol 00:19:37.33\00:19:39.34 and what's going on you know that we are gonna 00:19:39.37\00:19:41.42 have to fix something I tried to fix a food that 00:19:41.45\00:19:43.48 matches the programs. And this particular 00:19:43.51\00:19:46.15 incident I'm gonna be using chicken. 00:19:46.18\00:19:48.80 I know you say, oh it's a cheeseburger, one 00:19:48.83\00:19:50.29 minute now you are saying chicken. 00:19:50.32\00:19:51.69 Well let me tell you, we are doing a "mock 00:19:51.72\00:19:53.50 chicken salad" get your paper and your pencil 00:19:53.81\00:19:56.46 and meet us in the kitchen. 00:19:56.49\00:19:57.89
