It's no longer normal to be normal weight in America. 00:00:01.98\00:00:05.15 Why? Because most adults are overweight, 00:00:05.16\00:00:08.42 that's now the norm. 00:00:08.43\00:00:10.19 One of main reasons for that is today's topic entitled, 00:00:10.20\00:00:13.30 "The Super Size." We'll be right back. 00:00:13.31\00:00:16.34 Hi, welcome to Abundant Living, 00:00:44.81\00:00:46.42 this is my beautiful wife. 00:00:46.43\00:00:49.41 What is your name, honey? 00:00:49.42\00:00:50.39 You want to introduce yourself 00:00:50.40\00:00:51.37 to the people for me? 00:00:51.38\00:00:53.11 I'm his beautiful wife, Paula Eakins. 00:00:53.12\00:00:55.57 And how are you doing today? I'm doing wonderful, honey? 00:00:55.58\00:00:57.45 Great. You know, we're dressing alike too. 00:00:57.46\00:00:58.87 Was that designed this morning or what? Yes. 00:00:58.88\00:01:01.75 We think alike, right? Yes. 00:01:01.76\00:01:03.15 Okay, praise the Lord. 00:01:03.16\00:01:04.13 Umh! The topic. 00:01:04.14\00:01:06.15 The topic, "The Super Size." 00:01:06.16\00:01:08.25 Did you say America is getting 00:01:08.26\00:01:09.86 a little more heavier? 00:01:09.87\00:01:11.40 A little more heavier, that's what I said. Okay. 00:01:11.41\00:01:14.69 Most Americans are now overweight 00:01:14.70\00:01:17.27 and that is now the norm, to be lean is abnormal. 00:01:17.28\00:01:22.04 Oh, mercy, mercy, mercy, mercy. 00:01:22.05\00:01:23.41 Oh, this is gonna be a good one. 00:01:23.42\00:01:24.39 I know that everybody is waiting to hear 00:01:24.40\00:01:26.15 what we have to say on this particular topic. 00:01:26.16\00:01:28.62 Okay, I think you have some statistics about overweight, 00:01:28.63\00:01:31.85 those who are overweight and those who are also obese. 00:01:31.86\00:01:34.83 Well, you know, I was just watching a program 00:01:34.84\00:01:36.94 the other night and it made some statements 00:01:36.95\00:01:38.49 about the fact that verweight individuals 00:01:38.50\00:01:41.29 there is about 63% of America is overweight. 00:01:41.30\00:01:46.10 Overweight, okay. And then... 00:01:46.11\00:01:47.08 One in three. One in three, 00:01:47.09\00:01:49.00 one in three, one in three. 00:01:49.01\00:01:50.04 One in three individuals are obese. 00:01:50.05\00:01:51.64 Well, you know, when he talk about the word overweight, 00:01:51.65\00:01:54.24 you're talking about maybe 20% more weight on you 00:01:54.25\00:01:57.45 then you would normally have 00:01:57.46\00:01:58.67 and then of course obese is even twice that amount. 00:01:58.68\00:02:01.63 I think they just a body, body mass index. Right. 00:02:01.64\00:02:04.17 I think, I think anything over 30 body mass index 00:02:04.18\00:02:08.12 you're considered to be obese. 00:02:08.13\00:02:10.15 So, and that's 30% of the people 00:02:10.16\00:02:11.88 who are now obese and the majority people 00:02:11.89\00:02:14.90 of course are also overweight. 00:02:14.91\00:02:16.18 So that's now the norm. 00:02:16.19\00:02:17.87 Well, I think the thing is really scary also then, 00:02:17.88\00:02:19.95 and we're now talking about like we always do 00:02:19.96\00:02:21.72 in our program major killer diseases. 00:02:21.73\00:02:23.87 But we know that from overweight to obesity, 00:02:23.88\00:02:26.65 we now talk about heart disease and diabetes 00:02:26.66\00:02:28.70 and cancer and so on so forth so. Okay. 00:02:28.71\00:02:31.57 This is a program we need to probably talk a lot about. 00:02:31.58\00:02:35.30 Yeah, that's right so... What about the Bible? 00:02:35.31\00:02:38.28 What does the Bible say about, let's say overeating, 00:02:38.29\00:02:42.70 maybe there's no scripture in there on that. 00:02:42.71\00:02:45.48 Well, as a matter of fact there is. 00:02:45.49\00:02:46.66 Well, let me prefers this first. 00:02:46.67\00:02:48.92 Remember now, the devil's job is to ruin us mentally, 00:02:48.93\00:02:54.66 physically and ultimately, spiritually. 00:02:54.67\00:02:57.91 He knows that can get us to overeat 00:02:57.92\00:03:00.10 or to stuff ourselves 00:03:00.11\00:03:02.01 then that will affect our spiritual life. 00:03:02.02\00:03:04.52 He knows anatomy of physiology. 00:03:04.53\00:03:06.72 Therefore, he tried to get us to overweight 00:03:06.73\00:03:09.17 or to stuff ourselves. 00:03:09.18\00:03:10.51 Now there is one scripture 00:03:10.52\00:03:11.60 that is very profound on this topic, 00:03:11.61\00:03:14.35 it's found in Proverbs Chapter 23 and verse 2. 00:03:14.36\00:03:16.74 The Bible says, "And put a knife to the throat 00:03:16.75\00:03:20.72 if thou be a man or woman given to appetite." 00:03:20.73\00:03:25.38 So that's a very profound statement 00:03:25.39\00:03:27.21 as far as overeating is concerned. 00:03:27.22\00:03:29.61 And God is very serious about this, 00:03:29.62\00:03:31.91 as a matter of fact he instructed Moses 00:03:31.92\00:03:34.18 to actually take a person out of the camp of Israel 00:03:34.19\00:03:38.87 and to stone him to death because they were a glutton. 00:03:38.88\00:03:42.72 So again, Satan's job is to get us to overweight, 00:03:42.73\00:03:45.80 to stuff ourselves. 00:03:45.81\00:03:47.50 And this is not just a physical issue, 00:03:47.51\00:03:49.46 this is a spiritual issue, 00:03:49.47\00:03:51.10 this is a spiritual obligation for us 00:03:51.11\00:03:53.07 to keep our bodies fit, 00:03:53.08\00:03:55.60 because our bodies is the temple of the Holy Ghost, 00:03:55.61\00:03:58.28 we are not our own, we are bought with a price, 00:03:58.29\00:04:01.27 so therefore we shall glorify God in our bodies. 00:04:01.28\00:04:03.93 First Corinthians 6 verses 19 and 20. 00:04:03.94\00:04:06.23 So having said that, 00:04:06.24\00:04:07.69 the Satan's job is to get us to overeat. 00:04:07.70\00:04:09.65 So therefore knowing that, 00:04:09.66\00:04:11.70 about 30% of people eat out on a normal basis. Yes. 00:04:11.71\00:04:14.87 Then is reasonable to say that 00:04:14.88\00:04:18.67 most people will tend to overweight 00:04:18.68\00:04:20.21 because of what they're serving 00:04:20.22\00:04:22.05 in these restaurants and fast foods. 00:04:22.06\00:04:24.92 And also don't forget the money portion, 00:04:24.93\00:04:26.64 because I mean people figure that they got 00:04:26.65\00:04:28.33 to spend their money to eat out. 00:04:28.34\00:04:29.71 They really want to get the food. 00:04:29.72\00:04:31.10 Oh, yeah. More for your money. 00:04:31.11\00:04:32.68 That's right, that's right, that's right. 00:04:32.69\00:04:34.20 Well, give us some examples of this increased portion 00:04:34.21\00:04:38.65 we need to talk about that. Increased portion. Yeah. 00:04:38.66\00:04:40.13 The super size, the super size. 00:04:40.14\00:04:42.39 I'm gonna read something here, 00:04:42.40\00:04:43.56 these are from The Nutrition Action Newsletter, 00:04:43.57\00:04:46.91 2001 the January and February issue. 00:04:46.92\00:04:50.08 This is a very profound; 00:04:50.09\00:04:51.63 I'm gonna read verbatim just a brief summary of this, 00:04:51.64\00:04:55.62 just dealing with one particular 00:04:55.63\00:04:57.40 fast food restaurant here. 00:04:57.41\00:04:59.67 It says here, "In the early 1970s, 00:04:59.68\00:05:03.51 the original French-fry became small 00:05:03.52\00:05:07.40 and the 320 calorie lower size was introduced. 00:05:07.41\00:05:12.27 In the 1980s, the 1970s large became medium. 00:05:12.28\00:05:18.13 In a new large swell to 400 calories. 00:05:18.14\00:05:21.74 By the mid 1990s, the large had grown to 450 calories 00:05:21.75\00:05:27.50 and customers could now order a super size 00:05:27.51\00:05:30.96 with 540 calories. 00:05:30.97\00:05:33.82 By the year 2000, the large had become medium 00:05:33.83\00:05:38.60 and the super siz had become large. 00:05:38.61\00:05:41.22 In a new 7 ounce super size 00:05:41.23\00:05:44.48 have ballooned to 610 calories." 00:05:44.49\00:05:47.98 I mean what's next blubber size? 00:05:47.99\00:05:50.39 So it gets larger-and-larger 00:05:50.40\00:05:52.77 as we grow towards this century here. 00:05:52.78\00:05:56.64 You know, it's amazing to me that 00:05:56.65\00:05:58.53 particularly in one fast food restaurant, 00:05:58.54\00:06:00.19 a very popular fast food restaurant, 00:06:00.20\00:06:03.33 their original hamburger about 270 calories. 00:06:03.34\00:06:07.05 The original hamburger that was introduced, 00:06:07.06\00:06:09.27 that same hamburger today is now in the kid's happy meal. 00:06:09.28\00:06:12.82 You got to be kidding me. You're kidding. 00:06:14.57\00:06:16.15 that same hamburger that was introduced years ago 00:06:16.16\00:06:18.48 when it first started is now part of the kid's happy meal. 00:06:18.49\00:06:22.81 So now you have the hamburger, 00:06:22.82\00:06:24.70 you had a double, you had a triple, 00:06:24.71\00:06:26.14 you had a quarter pound, 00:06:26.15\00:06:27.46 that gets bigger and bigger and bigger, 00:06:27.47\00:06:30.01 the super size is here 00:06:30.02\00:06:32.13 and guess what folks, is not letting up at all. 00:06:32.14\00:06:35.42 Well, I remember there was a time... 00:06:35.43\00:06:37.49 it might be better then for us to actually say, 00:06:37.50\00:06:39.86 I want the kiddy meal. 00:06:39.87\00:06:41.71 I want the kiddy meal? 00:06:41.72\00:06:42.74 Because... I want the happy meal. 00:06:42.75\00:06:43.88 I want the happy meal. 00:06:43.89\00:06:45.35 You will have to have a child with you 00:06:45.36\00:06:46.86 in order for you to be able to do that. 00:06:46.87\00:06:47.84 You know, that's right. 00:06:47.85\00:06:48.82 But they are now doing that, they're actually saying, 00:06:48.83\00:06:50.28 they will let you have... 'cause that was a time, 00:06:50.29\00:06:51.88 Curtis, when you really could not get the happy meal. 00:06:51.89\00:06:53.92 Not if you were an adult, there was no children around. 00:06:53.93\00:06:55.39 So a lot of Americans are saying, 00:06:55.40\00:06:57.22 give me that you know, that the happy meal with the toy. 00:06:57.23\00:07:00.53 Yeah, give me the toy and the little treat, 00:07:00.54\00:07:02.53 'cause I just want everything, okay. 00:07:02.54\00:07:04.45 And I can be happy because we're not eating as much. 00:07:04.46\00:07:06.78 That's what they call it the happy meal probably. 00:07:06.79\00:07:08.45 Well, I can't believe, this guy walking in so large, 00:07:08.46\00:07:11.05 you know, we're talking you went from 00:07:11.06\00:07:12.07 300 calories to 600. Yeah. 00:07:12.08\00:07:13.94 For just French-fries. Yeah, yeah. 00:07:13.95\00:07:16.02 The regular, you know, the small, 00:07:16.03\00:07:18.44 regular, medium, large, super large 00:07:18.45\00:07:21.24 then probably next to the blubber size, you know. 00:07:21.25\00:07:22.91 So it just get longer and bigger and bigger and bigger. 00:07:22.92\00:07:25.32 Why had a word super size? 00:07:25.33\00:07:28.28 And that's also gets people excited super size 00:07:28.29\00:07:30.48 and it's not that expensive. 00:07:30.49\00:07:31.71 So you know, a person saying to himself 00:07:31.72\00:07:33.28 I think I want that. 00:07:33.29\00:07:34.26 But what about when you go to a restaurant. Okay. 00:07:34.27\00:07:36.57 And you're getting ready to order 00:07:36.58\00:07:37.97 and they come unto the first time and they say, 00:07:37.98\00:07:39.90 may I have your order for what you want to drink? Okay. 00:07:39.91\00:07:42.14 And then also they'll say, do you want a appetizer? 00:07:42.15\00:07:44.69 And they'll start rolling off, 00:07:44.70\00:07:46.27 you know, how many appetizers they have 00:07:46.28\00:07:47.65 and what are the appetizers, okay. 00:07:47.66\00:07:48.63 Oh, my goodness, oh my goodness. 00:07:48.64\00:07:49.71 Let's talk about the appetizer. 00:07:49.72\00:07:51.33 Okay. You know. 00:07:51.34\00:07:52.31 Well, in the same newsletter here, 00:07:52.32\00:07:54.69 the very interesting newsletter. 00:07:54.70\00:07:56.51 This is December 2001; 00:07:56.52\00:07:58.21 the nutrition action newsletter, 00:07:58.22\00:08:00.25 very good newsletter. 00:08:00.26\00:08:01.46 Now again folks, now the word appetizer, 00:08:01.47\00:08:04.52 how did that word come about, right, 00:08:04.53\00:08:06.31 I mean really, if I'm going to a restaurant, 00:08:06.32\00:08:08.36 I'm already hungry, I already have an appetite, 00:08:08.37\00:08:10.92 so they give you an appetizer. 00:08:10.93\00:08:12.40 Well, that's to kind of hold you. 00:08:12.41\00:08:13.82 Until the food comes. 00:08:13.83\00:08:14.94 Yeah, basically, you know, you're gonna be a little while 00:08:14.95\00:08:16.80 while they're fixing their food, 00:08:16.81\00:08:17.78 so they give you a little appetizer, 00:08:17.79\00:08:19.26 a little appetizer with supposedly 00:08:19.27\00:08:21.00 what you were eating, 00:08:21.01\00:08:22.00 until you get the meal and the drink. 00:08:22.01\00:08:24.06 And the drink. Okay. 00:08:24.07\00:08:25.19 But the problem is sometimes 00:08:25.20\00:08:26.25 your appetizer has more calories 00:08:26.26\00:08:28.19 than your whole meal. 00:08:28.20\00:08:29.32 Well, tell us about that. 00:08:29.33\00:08:30.30 Well, now I'm just gonna give you three typical appetizers 00:08:30.31\00:08:32.96 and this is profound. 00:08:32.97\00:08:34.91 This is an appetizer not the meal, 00:08:34.92\00:08:37.00 this is an appetizer. Okay. 00:08:37.01\00:08:38.82 Buffalo wings with blue cheese dressing, 00:08:38.83\00:08:42.22 that's the appetizer. Okay. 00:08:42.23\00:08:43.79 Calories are an whopping 110. 00:08:43.80\00:08:47.45 An appetizer? This is before your meal. Oh. 00:08:47.46\00:08:50.47 This is before the meal. Okay. 00:08:50.48\00:08:51.78 Another appetizer, stuffed potato skins. 00:08:51.79\00:08:54.48 Now that sounds healthier. That sounds good. 00:08:54.49\00:08:56.00 Stuffed potato skin has a lot of potassium. Right. 00:08:56.01\00:08:58.79 With sour cream. 00:08:58.80\00:09:00.63 One thousand two hundred and sixty calories. 00:09:00.64\00:09:03.66 Have mercy. 00:09:03.67\00:09:05.04 The meal hasn't come yet, 00:09:05.05\00:09:06.02 you're still waiting for your meal. Okay, okay. 00:09:06.03\00:09:07.63 Here's another one, 00:09:07.64\00:09:08.78 fried whole onions with dipping sauce. 00:09:08.79\00:09:13.74 Calories 2,130, I'm not making this up. 00:09:13.75\00:09:19.25 So you want to turn the page yourself okay, 00:09:19.26\00:09:20.84 oh, okay there's one last one. 00:09:20.85\00:09:22.62 This is the appetizer, folks, 00:09:22.63\00:09:24.04 last, one last one. Okay. 00:09:24.05\00:09:26.18 Cheese fries with ranch dressing. 00:09:26.19\00:09:29.38 That sounds good. 00:09:29.39\00:09:30.36 Appetizer. Okay. 00:09:30.37\00:09:31.71 A whopping 3010 calories. 00:09:31.72\00:09:36.27 No, Curtis. 00:09:36.28\00:09:37.33 This is before the meal comes. Three thousand. 00:09:37.34\00:09:40.98 These are the appetizer. Three thousand calories. 00:09:40.99\00:09:43.51 That's why we're talking about the super size. 00:09:43.52\00:09:45.38 The devil wants us to overeat 00:09:45.39\00:09:47.54 and guess what folks, it's working. 00:09:47.55\00:09:50.21 They start around the 18, 00:09:50.22\00:09:51.58 by the 1980s by the super size 00:09:51.59\00:09:54.45 and also the weight gain of American population 00:09:54.46\00:09:56.94 start around 18, 1980s too, of super sizes. 00:09:56.95\00:10:00.08 And so it's really profound that 00:10:00.09\00:10:02.50 when these restaurants increased their sizes 00:10:02.51\00:10:04.89 it also increases our waistline, 00:10:04.90\00:10:07.05 our hips and our thighs and our stomachs. 00:10:07.06\00:10:09.46 The super size is here to stay. 00:10:09.47\00:10:11.72 Well, I've been noticing also when you go to restaurant, 00:10:11.73\00:10:13.82 the portions sizes, you know, 00:10:13.83\00:10:16.07 you already hit the drink. Okay. 00:10:16.08\00:10:17.80 And of course the drinking, you're paying 00:10:17.81\00:10:18.99 for the drink ahead of time 00:10:19.00\00:10:20.35 and so they will continue to fill it, 00:10:20.36\00:10:21.62 that drink up over and over again, okay. 00:10:21.63\00:10:23.80 Now you got the appetizer going 00:10:23.81\00:10:25.27 and now we're into the portion sizes. 00:10:25.28\00:10:27.34 Portion sizes. 00:10:27.35\00:10:28.45 Let's talk about the portion sizes. 00:10:28.46\00:10:30.66 Well, now so what's the reason 00:10:30.67\00:10:32.20 why restaurant will give you larger portion sizes? 00:10:32.21\00:10:35.68 First of all, we need to understand that 00:10:35.69\00:10:37.10 the meal itself, the cost of the meal is 00:10:37.11\00:10:40.87 really not dealing with the food, 00:10:40.88\00:10:43.65 the cost of the meal have to deal with the labor cost 00:10:43.66\00:10:46.63 and the overhead cost, that's the cost of a meal. 00:10:46.64\00:10:50.25 The food itself is simply a fraction 00:10:50.26\00:10:52.92 of the cost of a meal. 00:10:52.93\00:10:54.33 So they can really afford to give you more 00:10:54.34\00:10:57.80 and you realize that, 00:10:57.81\00:10:59.88 wow I'm getting all of this full amount of money, 00:10:59.89\00:11:02.39 I think I'll come back 00:11:02.40\00:11:03.89 because I get a lot for my money. 00:11:03.90\00:11:05.50 Of course, of course. 00:11:05.51\00:11:06.75 So let's go to our first graphic here. 00:11:06.76\00:11:08.81 This is a profound statement and it says here. 00:11:08.82\00:11:12.11 This is from the Director of the Food Laboratory 00:11:12.12\00:11:14.91 in University of Illinois. 00:11:14.92\00:11:16.34 He said that, "People eat more 00:11:16.35\00:11:19.41 if they are served more." 00:11:19.42\00:11:23.39 That's the statement and it's profound. 00:11:23.40\00:11:25.84 "People will eat more if they are served more." 00:11:25.85\00:11:31.83 It says the restaurants and fast foods 00:11:31.84\00:11:33.71 are serving us more 00:11:33.72\00:11:36.17 then we eat more 00:11:36.18\00:11:38.43 and then our waist, hips, thighs, 00:11:38.44\00:11:40.59 stomach starts to expand more. 00:11:40.60\00:11:44.00 Well, I remember 00:11:44.01\00:11:45.32 when they started getting into these restaurants 00:11:45.33\00:11:50.02 where you, all you can eat. 00:11:50.03\00:11:52.13 Oh, my goodness. All you can eat. 00:11:52.14\00:11:53.54 Now, you know, and I'm... The temptation is great. 00:11:53.55\00:11:55.48 I'm gonna tell you, I'm gonna tell you right, 00:11:55.49\00:11:56.46 you know, we used to go those, 00:11:56.47\00:11:57.46 we used to go to those restaurants. 00:11:57.47\00:11:58.92 Because we kept saying, 00:11:58.93\00:11:59.90 okay now even as vegan vegetarians, 00:11:59.91\00:12:02.16 we still can get the baked potato, 00:12:02.17\00:12:03.58 we can get the salad, 00:12:03.59\00:12:04.70 you know, we can get the whole wheat bread, 00:12:04.71\00:12:06.25 the corn, the green beans, you know. The carrots. 00:12:06.26\00:12:08.62 But guess what, we get into these restaurants 00:12:08.63\00:12:12.13 and then we see some other things 00:12:12.14\00:12:13.64 or we just, like for instance, 00:12:13.65\00:12:15.39 we might have a salad and then we'll see 00:12:15.40\00:12:16.67 they do to make a haystack 00:12:16.68\00:12:17.72 with all the chips and vegetarian. That's right. 00:12:17.73\00:12:19.26 And we began eating more-and-more, 00:12:19.27\00:12:21.01 now you know, you don't need to have a baked potato 00:12:21.02\00:12:23.17 and then also you don't have your salad. 00:12:23.18\00:12:25.83 On top of that you got the corn and the green beans, 00:12:25.84\00:12:28.04 these are adding more-and-more 00:12:28.05\00:12:29.04 to it and before, and you keep going back 00:12:29.05\00:12:31.00 then you got to plate and they'll say, 00:12:31.01\00:12:32.47 make sure you get a clean plate when you go back. 00:12:32.48\00:12:34.53 Now I know it's a health issue 00:12:34.54\00:12:36.72 as to why they want you to have a clean plate. 00:12:36.73\00:12:39.04 But guess what 00:12:39.05\00:12:40.02 psychologically think about it, 00:12:40.03\00:12:42.07 if your plates still has food on it 00:12:42.08\00:12:43.69 or it's got the remnants of food on it, 00:12:43.70\00:12:45.83 when you go back up there again, 00:12:45.84\00:12:47.30 perhaps you wouldn't eat as much, 00:12:47.31\00:12:49.09 but because the plate is clean your mind is saying, 00:12:49.10\00:12:51.78 you didn't have anything, 00:12:51.79\00:12:53.15 get you some more. That's right. 00:12:53.16\00:12:54.29 Well, you know it. 00:12:54.30\00:12:55.88 You're actually up doing over and over again. Yeah. 00:12:55.89\00:12:57.61 Getting more and more stuffed. 00:12:57.62\00:12:58.95 And every time when we come home, honey, from those... 00:12:58.96\00:13:01.10 Both of us we would be sick. 00:13:01.11\00:13:03.02 And that's because we don't eat that way at home. 00:13:03.03\00:13:04.44 Yeah, and I think also the way it was prepared, 00:13:04.45\00:13:06.82 even though it was a vegan vegetarian meal, 00:13:06.83\00:13:09.16 but the way it was prepared 00:13:09.17\00:13:10.14 has a lot to do with that too. 00:13:10.15\00:13:11.24 Yeah, so we had to stop that 00:13:11.25\00:13:12.70 because that was putting a little pound on us, 00:13:12.71\00:13:14.59 so we decided that maybe better 00:13:14.60\00:13:15.95 stay at home and eat there. Yeah. 00:13:15.96\00:13:17.33 And also, we also start doing some let's go ahead on 00:13:17.34\00:13:21.02 and see if we can eat together. 00:13:21.03\00:13:22.93 Now this is outside of that plate. Okay. 00:13:22.94\00:13:24.66 Which I'm gonna not sure whether you're gonna get 00:13:24.67\00:13:25.78 into that right now or not, but you know, 00:13:25.79\00:13:27.59 how we actually made some solutions to that, but... Yeah. 00:13:27.60\00:13:29.67 We had to stop, we actually stop 00:13:29.68\00:13:31.17 and also we stopped eating 00:13:31.18\00:13:32.94 at the places with all you can eat, 00:13:32.95\00:13:34.38 'cause I mean that is a serious temptation. Yeah. 00:13:34.39\00:13:36.44 And then you'll say, well I spend my money. 00:13:36.45\00:13:38.45 So I'm gonna get my food, well... 00:13:38.46\00:13:40.95 Yeah, yeah that's a psychological thing 00:13:40.96\00:13:42.59 and one of the fast food restaurants 00:13:42.60\00:13:44.06 have a jingle saying that, 00:13:44.07\00:13:45.88 we give you more for your money 00:13:45.89\00:13:48.09 and some of you may understand 00:13:48.10\00:13:49.24 or know what fast food restaurant has the jingle. 00:13:49.25\00:13:51.95 And that's true, you also getting more 00:13:51.96\00:13:53.57 for your money so you wind up going back. 00:13:53.58\00:13:55.26 But again it's detriment to our health. 00:13:55.27\00:13:57.48 And remember now, Satan knows that 00:13:57.49\00:14:00.23 if he can get us to overstuff ourselves 00:14:00.24\00:14:02.10 to overeat constantly, then it will affect 00:14:02.11\00:14:05.30 our mental and spiritual well being. 00:14:05.31\00:14:07.56 That's the underlining principle 00:14:07.57\00:14:10.29 and guess what, is working today, overeating. 00:14:10.30\00:14:13.64 Super size is here is to stay. 00:14:13.65\00:14:15.60 Now we go out to dinner now sometimes 00:14:15.61\00:14:18.72 and we do something that will counteract 00:14:18.73\00:14:22.01 that super sizing portion 00:14:22.02\00:14:24.49 that most restaurants will give us. 00:14:24.50\00:14:26.06 Well, at first like I was saying before 00:14:26.07\00:14:27.63 we were doing the restaurants, 00:14:27.64\00:14:28.82 they had all you can eat for a certain amount 00:14:28.83\00:14:30.53 of money and that was not working for us. 00:14:30.54\00:14:32.54 So we started saying, 00:14:32.55\00:14:33.80 why don't we just go to the restaurant 00:14:33.81\00:14:35.17 now and then just order, just one order of something 00:14:35.18\00:14:38.36 and then we both share it, 00:14:38.37\00:14:39.56 and that's been going on, 00:14:39.57\00:14:40.54 we have a favorite restaurant, 00:14:40.55\00:14:41.70 a Mexican restaurant in Huntsville, 00:14:41.71\00:14:43.10 I love foods from other countries as you know, 00:14:43.11\00:14:45.09 and we all order one actual recipe, I mean menu. Menu. 00:14:45.10\00:14:50.17 And from that menu we say, 00:14:50.18\00:14:51.25 could you bring us two plates 00:14:51.26\00:14:52.85 because we're going to actually 00:14:52.86\00:14:54.03 eat from the same plate. 00:14:54.04\00:14:55.01 And evidently some people are catching on 00:14:55.02\00:14:56.30 that too because they say, okay, 00:14:56.31\00:14:57.89 they wouldn't commonly wouldn't 00:14:57.90\00:14:58.87 do that either. Right, right. 00:14:58.88\00:15:00.10 We do the same thing and guess what, 00:15:00.11\00:15:02.01 even after Curtis and I share and those of you 00:15:02.02\00:15:04.86 watch Abundant Living know Curtis can eat some food. 00:15:04.87\00:15:07.70 Now wait a minute, wait a minute, oh, okay, see. 00:15:07.71\00:15:09.34 But now, but now and you know. 00:15:09.35\00:15:10.95 Let's clarify that. Okay, clear. 00:15:10.96\00:15:12.36 Okay, I'm just wanted to break your strike. 00:15:12.37\00:15:14.05 Clear it honey. 00:15:14.06\00:15:15.03 See I eat, but they only see me just eating 00:15:15.04\00:15:17.22 samples of the food after the food has been prepared. 00:15:17.23\00:15:19.51 I know, I know. So let's just little samples 00:15:19.52\00:15:21.54 like maybe an olive here 00:15:21.55\00:15:22.79 and a carrot stick here or whatever. 00:15:22.80\00:15:24.59 But I've mentioned to know about 00:15:24.60\00:15:25.68 how you do love to it, honey. 00:15:25.69\00:15:26.79 Okay. And so moving along swiftly. In moderation. 00:15:26.80\00:15:29.55 In moderation, as Curtis is saying 00:15:29.56\00:15:32.86 we were eating this Mexican meal 00:15:32.87\00:15:34.34 and how about both of us can eat from the meal, 00:15:34.35\00:15:36.82 both of us are satisfied and at the end 00:15:36.83\00:15:39.70 I will say something like. 00:15:39.71\00:15:41.01 Excuse me; could you give me a doggy bag 00:15:41.02\00:15:43.68 to take the rest of it home? 00:15:43.69\00:15:45.47 And you always laugh about that, 00:15:45.48\00:15:46.84 now what do you laugh, Curtis? 00:15:46.85\00:15:48.14 'Cause knowing full well that not, 00:15:48.15\00:15:49.79 I'm not a fool... how many times have 00:15:49.80\00:15:51.41 we been to a restaurant? 00:15:51.42\00:15:52.39 You ask for the doggy bag, 00:15:52.40\00:15:53.58 you take the food home. 00:15:53.59\00:15:55.71 How many of you out there seriously have eaten 00:15:55.72\00:15:58.08 that food the next day or the day after? 00:15:58.09\00:16:00.36 I never eat it. Right. 00:16:13.84\00:16:16.26 It's not even; I don't know 00:16:16.27\00:16:17.24 why do you call the doggy bag 00:16:17.25\00:16:18.22 'cause you're not giving it to the dog. 00:16:18.23\00:16:19.42 Yeah, now in case you're wondering now 00:16:19.43\00:16:21.27 when we do order our meal, 00:16:21.28\00:16:22.58 we ask for one order, have two plates 00:16:22.59\00:16:25.22 that does not mean that I am a cheapskate. 00:16:25.23\00:16:27.19 Now you want to make sure that 00:16:27.20\00:16:28.33 you tell them that too, honey 'cause... 00:16:28.34\00:16:29.86 Well, now we're on the subject 00:16:29.87\00:16:31.25 I was kind of wondering, Curtis. 00:16:31.26\00:16:33.54 No, 'cause I don't, I think somebody maybe 00:16:33.55\00:16:35.44 wondering about that but it's not that 00:16:35.45\00:16:37.00 I'm cheap, is that we're trying 00:16:37.01\00:16:38.63 to be smart in our eating. 00:16:38.64\00:16:39.95 I just want to make sure everybody understands that. 00:16:39.96\00:16:42.18 Well, he wants me to clarify that for you, 00:16:42.19\00:16:43.40 so I will tell you that it is true, 00:16:43.41\00:16:44.73 that we are able to save money plus 00:16:44.74\00:16:47.55 we're able to eat from the same plate. Okay. 00:16:47.56\00:16:50.08 I think that's good because that gives me 00:16:50.09\00:16:51.73 more money to buy more things. 00:16:51.74\00:16:53.13 Okay, well let's wrap 00:16:53.14\00:16:54.11 because we're running out of time here. 00:16:54.12\00:16:55.37 Let's go with the summary and let's go 00:16:55.38\00:16:57.10 with our last graphic, 00:16:57.11\00:16:58.12 what can we do to have some solutions? 00:16:58.13\00:17:00.27 Number one, drink at least 4 to 6 ounces 00:17:00.28\00:17:02.67 before the meal comes. 00:17:02.68\00:17:04.29 Again when you go to order your food, 00:17:04.30\00:17:06.55 it's go to be at least 20-30 minutes, 00:17:06.56\00:17:08.36 so if you drink a little bit before that then 00:17:08.37\00:17:10.51 you will have had some fluid in 30 minutes 00:17:10.52\00:17:13.58 before you meal which is recommended. 00:17:13.59\00:17:15.13 So that's number one solution there. 00:17:15.14\00:17:17.62 Number two, when you look in the menu practically 00:17:17.63\00:17:21.69 every menu generally speaking always 00:17:21.70\00:17:24.52 think this serves two instead of one. 00:17:24.53\00:17:28.38 So you just keep that in mind serves 00:17:28.39\00:17:30.64 two instead of one, 00:17:30.65\00:17:31.83 then you can order two plates 00:17:31.84\00:17:32.99 and you can go ahead and have a nice menu there. 00:17:33.00\00:17:36.05 Number three, solution, a variety of vegetables. 00:17:36.06\00:17:40.14 Okay, if we eat a variety of vegetables 00:17:40.15\00:17:42.21 then we tend not to eat other types of food 00:17:42.22\00:17:45.06 that will be high in fat, 00:17:45.07\00:17:46.70 saturated fat and cholesterol. 00:17:46.71\00:17:49.55 And number four, the solution is, 00:17:49.56\00:17:52.54 have a fruit-based dessert, 00:17:52.55\00:17:54.68 that way you cut down on your calorie count 00:17:54.69\00:17:56.77 and you'll be better off when you do that. 00:17:56.78\00:17:59.46 So these are some of the solutions 00:17:59.47\00:18:00.50 we can do if we go out to eat, 00:18:00.51\00:18:01.99 because remember now about 30% of people 00:18:02.00\00:18:04.85 eat out on a normal basis. 00:18:04.86\00:18:06.08 So the super size is there, 00:18:06.09\00:18:08.76 you just need to how to work around that, 00:18:08.77\00:18:10.73 so we won't be caught up in that being 00:18:10.74\00:18:13.37 over stuffed and overeating. 00:18:13.38\00:18:14.77 I like that all those different 00:18:14.78\00:18:16.60 recommendations sound real good. Yeah. 00:18:16.61\00:18:18.84 But see that sharing part. 00:18:18.85\00:18:20.15 Sharing part, okay.
