Now, of course if you been 00:01:35.33\00:01:37.76 with us for the last few weeks, 00:01:37.77\00:01:39.19 we've been exploring some key Bible text, 00:01:39.20\00:01:41.93 that's often been misinterpreted 00:01:42.42\00:01:44.31 and seemly given us justification of any, 00:01:45.17\00:01:47.91 anything we wanna eat and this is without 00:01:47.92\00:01:50.73 exception this text before today. 00:01:50.74\00:01:53.16 But again we want to review the last text that 00:01:53.55\00:01:56.53 we cover which is found in Matthew 00:01:56.54\00:01:58.37 chapter 15 and verse 11 Jesus said: 00:01:58.38\00:02:01.28 It's not that which goeth into the mouth that 00:02:02.15\00:02:04.10 defileth a man; but what comes out that 00:02:04.11\00:02:07.01 defileth a man. A lot of people have taken 00:02:07.02\00:02:09.03 that text too, to say well really just a matter 00:02:09.04\00:02:11.49 what you eat, is what you say, that's a thing 00:02:11.50\00:02:14.29 a defileth a man. I think we cover that quite 00:02:14.30\00:02:16.93 thoroughly didn't we honey? 00:02:16.94\00:02:17.91 I think so and what was the issue of that passage, 00:02:17.92\00:02:20.72 what was Jesus talking about? 00:02:21.22\00:02:22.56 Now, of course they want to say it was all about 00:02:23.08\00:02:25.35 the washing of the hands, the special way, 00:02:25.36\00:02:27.18 we're not washing their hands, 00:02:28.29\00:02:29.43 but we weren't washing the hands at all. 00:02:30.28\00:02:31.32 I know about that, then they have been 00:02:32.10\00:02:34.06 washing their hand, but not the way that Pharisees 00:02:34.07\00:02:36.73 and the Scribes. I remember one thing that, 00:02:36.74\00:02:39.76 that last and I remember all of it, 00:02:39.77\00:02:41.46 but the one thing I thought was so funny 00:02:41.47\00:02:43.39 was when you said that the Pharisees actually 00:02:43.40\00:02:45.61 they had no water, they went through demotions, 00:02:45.62\00:02:48.35 now you know they have run out over. 00:02:48.36\00:02:50.28 You know and that just, it was interesting 00:02:50.64\00:02:52.79 to show you that to just you can be so, 00:02:52.80\00:02:54.73 so strong, yes and so established if they didn't 00:02:55.06\00:02:58.14 have any water they had to still go through 00:02:58.15\00:02:59.96 demotions and that's amazing. 00:02:59.97\00:03:01.42 I remember of course we told this to about 00:03:01.77\00:03:04.02 when I was in surgical school at the hospital 00:03:04.54\00:03:08.01 there and we had to wash out hands at the sink 00:03:08.02\00:03:10.06 and while we were washing our hands a class 00:03:10.50\00:03:13.25 of 12 members in our new class. 00:03:13.26\00:03:14.87 Some of the experience surgical text or surgeons' 00:03:15.25\00:03:18.79 assistant they be walking by and they were start 00:03:18.80\00:03:21.20 singing the song and the song 00:03:21.21\00:03:22.62 goes something like this. 00:03:22.77\00:03:23.74 This is the way we wash our hands, 00:03:24.13\00:03:26.49 wash our hands and you know what? 00:03:26.50\00:03:29.42 The following year with the next new class 00:03:29.43\00:03:31.91 came by, guess what? All class was singing: 00:03:31.92\00:03:34.56 This is the way we wash our hands, 00:03:35.13\00:03:37.42 but again it just goes to show you that 00:03:37.70\00:03:39.74 this is basically tradition and Jesus addressed 00:03:40.58\00:03:43.37 that issue in Matthew chapter 15 and verse 11. 00:03:43.38\00:03:47.26 Now, we have another text or scripture 00:03:47.77\00:03:49.95 there is often misinterpreted and 00:03:50.30\00:03:52.52 this one of the most popular text I've heard, 00:03:52.53\00:03:55.19 I mean you've heard as well for people saying 00:03:55.20\00:03:58.04 we could eat anything we want to eat 00:03:58.34\00:04:00.05 and this text is based on that passage is also 00:04:00.40\00:04:04.33 found in First Timothy chapter 4, verse 4. 00:04:04.34\00:04:06.34 Before we do that I'm gonna read First Timothy 00:04:06.74\00:04:09.30 chapter 4 verses 1 and 3, if you have 00:04:09.31\00:04:13.94 your Bibles I've asked you to read with me 00:04:13.95\00:04:16.57 if not you may wanna jot these text down, 00:04:16.58\00:04:18.69 First Timothy chapter 4, verses 1 and 3 00:04:18.70\00:04:22.11 the Bible says verse 1: Now the Spirit 00:04:22.12\00:04:25.22 speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some 00:04:25.23\00:04:29.32 shall depart from the faith, giving heed to 00:04:29.33\00:04:32.18 seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils. 00:04:32.19\00:04:35.71 Doctrines of devils, that's pretty deep. 00:04:36.21\00:04:37.98 Number 3: Forbidding to marry, now I'm just need 00:04:38.58\00:04:43.29 to pause therefore while because this is not dealing 00:04:43.30\00:04:46.15 with today's topic but there is one large group 00:04:46.16\00:04:50.56 of individuals or institution that forbid 00:04:50.86\00:04:53.66 those members from marrying and we sure 00:04:53.67\00:04:57.66 we know about that group of church 00:04:57.67\00:04:59.91 is practice celibacy,s again that is not God's 00:04:59.92\00:05:03.36 desire or God's will. God said it is not well 00:05:03.37\00:05:06.37 that man should be alone, but let's continue 00:05:06.38\00:05:08.36 verse 3: and commanding to abstain from meats, 00:05:08.37\00:05:13.72 which God hath created, now wait a minute now, 00:05:14.37\00:05:17.32 wait a minute, now the Bible says in the latter 00:05:17.78\00:05:20.33 days some shall depart from the faith, 00:05:20.34\00:05:23.06 giving heed to seducing spirits, 00:05:24.73\00:05:26.42 and doctrines of devils. And then let's hear 00:05:26.88\00:05:29.72 in verse 11, no verse 3, and one is forbidding 00:05:29.73\00:05:32.43 to marry, now other one is commanding 00:05:32.44\00:05:35.17 to abstain from meat, which God hath created. 00:05:35.18\00:05:39.10 Now, we have problem here honey, because 00:05:39.87\00:05:42.82 on Abundant Living programs well we're not 00:05:42.83\00:05:45.32 really commanding people to abstain from meat, 00:05:45.33\00:05:47.25 but we're educating people to 00:05:47.64\00:05:49.30 abstain from meat. And base on this text here, 00:05:49.31\00:05:52.50 I guess we shouldn't doing this, 00:05:52.94\00:05:54.15 I mean all the programs we take here on 00:05:54.16\00:05:55.79 Abundant Living in other programs here 00:05:55.80\00:05:57.40 on 3ABN educating people to abstain from meat. 00:05:57.41\00:06:00.19 And here it is in God's word, 00:06:00.66\00:06:02.29 abstaining to eat meat; well we're not quite 00:06:02.99\00:06:07.71 what we doing is we giving, 00:06:07.72\00:06:08.98 we giving them tools, oh! We're giving them tools, 00:06:08.99\00:06:11.63 we giving them other alternatives, 00:06:11.64\00:06:13.21 to abstain from meat, that's right. 00:06:13.92\00:06:15.53 We're giving alternatives, now their choice 00:06:15.54\00:06:17.43 is what they were want to eat meat 00:06:17.44\00:06:18.89 or not eat meat, so we just give the 00:06:18.90\00:06:20.55 information and they make their own decisions. 00:06:20.56\00:06:22.93 Okay, alright so it's a matter of education, 00:06:23.29\00:06:26.06 education, okay now other word meat here, 00:06:26.37\00:06:28.73 now that's interesting isn't it? Because people 00:06:28.74\00:06:31.90 will think that does the meat here it means 00:06:31.91\00:06:35.03 flesh foods or what? Well, let see, 00:06:35.04\00:06:38.26 let see meat, flesh food, I'm thinking of 00:06:38.27\00:06:41.36 Genesis 1:29, because I think every time the 00:06:41.37\00:06:44.89 Bible mention the word meat, people assume 00:06:44.90\00:06:48.54 it's referring to flesh meats, lamb, beef, 00:06:49.08\00:06:52.61 pork, chicken, fish whatever. 00:06:52.62\00:06:54.82 Well, that's why I like the word of God, 00:06:55.22\00:06:56.69 okay, once again, once again line upon line, 00:06:56.70\00:06:58.81 precept upon precept, here a little, 00:06:59.26\00:07:01.55 there a little, okay. So, you cannot just take 00:07:01.90\00:07:04.23 one verse and try to run with it, okay, 00:07:04.24\00:07:06.34 alright, let's look at Genesis 1:29, 00:07:06.35\00:07:09.53 so now just this text also have the word meat in it. 00:07:09.54\00:07:12.58 Oh! Yes, it does, okay let's read that text 00:07:12.59\00:07:14.45 and see the gospel have to say. 00:07:14.46\00:07:15.55 And God said, Behold, I have given you every 00:07:15.56\00:07:18.60 herb bearing seed, which is upon the face 00:07:18.61\00:07:21.97 of all the earth, and every tree, 00:07:21.98\00:07:23.63 in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; 00:07:24.03\00:07:27.06 to you it shall be for meat, meat. 00:07:27.37\00:07:31.69 Wait a minute, amen, now in that verse 00:07:32.09\00:07:34.13 you said I have given you every herb 00:07:34.14\00:07:36.49 bearing seed, and every fruit yielding tree 00:07:36.50\00:07:39.60 to you it shall be for what? Meat, meat, 00:07:40.00\00:07:45.46 so the word meat is the synonymous word 00:07:45.47\00:07:48.03 that can mean food, vegetables, fruit period. 00:07:48.04\00:07:53.10 So, because there is no meat listed in that verse, 00:07:53.88\00:07:56.34 no, so every time we see the word meat 00:07:56.35\00:07:58.53 in the Bible it does not necessarily mean 00:07:58.54\00:08:00.82 flesh foods, that's right and quite frankly 00:08:01.41\00:08:04.23 most cases it does not even mean flesh foods. 00:08:04.72\00:08:07.72 So, when we see this word here the word meat 00:08:08.29\00:08:11.68 comes from the Greek word broma which simply 00:08:11.69\00:08:14.42 means as my wife is already said food, 00:08:14.43\00:08:16.87 so we can read that text as such commanding 00:08:17.15\00:08:19.83 to abstain from foods. And this is true back 00:08:19.84\00:08:22.40 in Paul's day that they were some individuals 00:08:22.41\00:08:24.75 who say that they were not going to eat certain 00:08:25.05\00:08:27.92 foods during certain times of the year. 00:08:27.93\00:08:30.21 Not necessarily flesh foods, so that's how 00:08:30.73\00:08:33.43 we should read this text, but now the key 00:08:33.44\00:08:35.42 text here is verse 4, this is a text that 00:08:35.43\00:08:38.76 most people tend to misinterpreted verse 4. 00:08:38.77\00:08:42.29 Here we go: For every creature of God is good, 00:08:42.58\00:08:48.67 and nothing to be refused, if it be received 00:08:49.55\00:08:54.22 with thanksgiving. Now, honey this is God's word, 00:08:54.49\00:08:58.95 God's word is true it cannot lie, 00:09:00.23\00:09:03.23 why? Because the Bible cannot lie why? 00:09:03.24\00:09:05.22 Because the God says I cannot lie 00:09:05.23\00:09:08.64 and I change not, therefore the Bible says 00:09:08.65\00:09:11.85 every creature of God is good. I think what 00:09:12.21\00:09:16.08 we do sometime is we add two additional 00:09:16.09\00:09:19.12 words to that phrase and what words are 00:09:19.13\00:09:22.14 those honey? For food, so we assume that 00:09:22.15\00:09:27.33 the Bible means every creature of God is good 00:09:27.34\00:09:29.88 and we at for food or to eat that's 00:09:29.89\00:09:34.20 what something on our part sometimes. 00:09:34.21\00:09:36.25 But it is not really in the original text of 00:09:36.26\00:09:39.08 the scripture and I think when we do that, 00:09:39.09\00:09:41.13 then we can rest for sure that we are 00:09:41.71\00:09:43.35 misinterpreting scripture and it's not accurate 00:09:43.36\00:09:46.29 at all. Well, I guess the questions are 00:09:46.30\00:09:48.43 you might be asking that is well what 00:09:48.44\00:09:50.43 food is good to eat, does God actually tell us? 00:09:50.44\00:09:53.93 Well, now there are also foods that we can't eat, 00:09:54.67\00:09:57.32 now those who chose to eat flesh foods, 00:09:57.33\00:09:59.87 okay there is also listed in the Bible a force 00:10:00.25\00:10:05.30 that is concern let's go to our first graphic 00:10:05.31\00:10:07.24 and let see what the Bible have to say about this. 00:10:07.25\00:10:09.88 God's Perfect Will: "For it is sanctified by the 00:10:10.29\00:10:15.67 word of God and prayer." Now the word sanctified 00:10:15.68\00:10:19.16 means to set apart, okay, we know that 00:10:19.17\00:10:22.74 there are certain foods there has been set apart 00:10:23.21\00:10:25.81 to be eaten those food chose to eat flesh foods, 00:10:26.55\00:10:30.01 those foods are clean foods that were listed 00:10:30.55\00:10:33.47 in Leviticus chapter 11 and also Deuteronomy 00:10:33.48\00:10:36.83 chapter 14. There are certain foods 00:10:37.19\00:10:39.32 they have been sanctify or set apart for those 00:10:39.33\00:10:42.09 who chose to eat flesh foods, 00:10:42.10\00:10:44.33 by most mind you now. They are three types 00:10:44.76\00:10:47.73 of diet in the Bible, three, the first diet is 00:10:47.74\00:10:51.40 Genesis 1:29 which you have already read that 00:10:51.41\00:10:54.80 we called the best diet, the best diet for mankind. 00:10:54.81\00:10:57.83 Then there is the second diet the diet that's 00:10:58.27\00:11:00.68 allowed or permitted it's not the best but is allow 00:11:00.69\00:11:05.16 and that diet is to clean foods listed in 00:11:05.89\00:11:08.14 Leviticus chapter 11. Then there is the third 00:11:08.15\00:11:10.81 diet that is forbidden we shall not eat that's 00:11:11.04\00:11:15.01 unclean foods. So, diet number 2 00:11:15.02\00:11:17.60 the clean foods is not best, is permitted but 00:11:17.61\00:11:21.54 is not the best, so we shall also keep our mind 00:11:21.55\00:11:25.02 to keep our bodies healthy we sure success 00:11:25.31\00:11:28.19 on one diet number 1 the best diet Genesis 1:29 00:11:28.20\00:11:33.69 and Genesis 3:18 that's the diet after seeing 00:11:33.70\00:11:37.19 but before the flood. Well, I think once again 00:11:37.20\00:11:39.34 I like the way the Lord writes, 00:11:39.35\00:11:42.03 because or he's encourage through the Holy Spirit 00:11:42.69\00:11:45.67 to write man have written the word of God, 00:11:45.68\00:11:48.36 but I think about the fact that if this diet issue 00:11:48.75\00:11:53.03 was not important God would not have put 00:11:53.37\00:11:55.63 it in the very first book of Bible. 00:11:55.64\00:11:56.90 God in the very first book of the Bible after 00:11:56.91\00:11:59.11 he's creates everything god everything ready 00:11:59.12\00:12:00.87 then He creates man and He has the diet already 00:12:01.26\00:12:04.46 set in place. That's true, that's grains, 00:12:04.47\00:12:06.63 seeds shall be your meat. 00:12:06.64\00:12:07.92 The first chapter of the Bible okay, 00:12:07.93\00:12:10.06 now if it was the not a big deal, 00:12:10.07\00:12:11.25 He might have moved it into Psalms, 00:12:11.26\00:12:12.54 Revelation or Psalm or in Revelation led on 00:12:12.55\00:12:14.11 down the line. But that's why how many peoples 00:12:14.12\00:12:15.69 uneven see this one why in Genesis I mean 00:12:15.70\00:12:17.46 not even the very first book, they kind of skip 00:12:17.47\00:12:18.70 that first chapter, okay. That's not the case here, 00:12:35.78\00:12:38.99 every creature of God is good, 00:12:39.71\00:12:41.93 not necessarily to eat, for instance the hog, 00:12:42.72\00:12:47.82 the swine it is good folks believe me the hog 00:12:48.31\00:12:52.20 is good not to eat, but it's good for his intended 00:12:52.21\00:12:55.68 purposes which is the cleanup the filth 00:12:55.69\00:12:57.96 of the earth. So, it's good for his intended 00:12:58.30\00:13:01.08 purpose the way God designed it by his will, 00:13:01.09\00:13:03.92 the buzzard, it is good, it's excellent to cleanup 00:13:04.48\00:13:08.61 the filth of the earth. The catfish it is good, 00:13:08.62\00:13:11.77 it's excellent to cleanup the filth of the sea. 00:13:12.28\00:13:15.28 So, every creature of God is good, 00:13:15.82\00:13:17.78 not necessarily for food but it's good for God's 00:13:18.37\00:13:21.45 intended purposes and that we have 00:13:21.46\00:13:24.09 to keep in mind. Now, that make sense, okay, 00:13:24.10\00:13:26.07 you kind of left out the, the shrimp and also the, 00:13:26.90\00:13:29.48 okay shrimp, crab, lobster, lobster yeah 00:13:29.49\00:13:31.75 I think we got the idea so. 00:13:31.76\00:13:32.87 And by the way those who are listening 00:13:33.23\00:13:35.36 to the program and said you hit, 00:13:35.37\00:13:38.50 heart so bad, you heard so good. 00:13:38.51\00:13:39.99 Well, you know you've been very well, 00:13:40.00\00:13:41.28 you know certainly welcome write to us 00:13:41.75\00:13:44.20 and we will glad to give you additional 00:13:44.21\00:13:45.90 information that will actually help to verify 00:13:45.91\00:13:47.85 the fact that God has created foods that, 00:13:47.86\00:13:50.16 things that are good but not for food, 00:13:50.64\00:13:53.00 that's right. So, remember folks there are 00:13:53.01\00:13:55.47 certain foods if you chose to eat flesh foods 00:13:55.48\00:13:57.91 there are sanctified by God's word which is 00:13:57.92\00:14:01.66 recorded in Leviticus chapter 11 and 00:14:01.67\00:14:04.20 Deuteronomy chapter 14. Now, let's go to our 00:14:04.21\00:14:06.73 last graphic and this is what other people will 00:14:06.74\00:14:08.89 do as well. This is not God's will let's look 00:14:08.90\00:14:11.99 we see what the Bible have to say: 00:14:12.00\00:14:13.19 "They that sanctify themselves eating 00:14:13.73\00:14:17.19 swine's flesh, and the mouse, shall be consumed 00:14:17.61\00:14:21.68 together, saith the Lord. Now we're trying to 00:14:21.69\00:14:24.97 sanctify ourselves, when we do that in 00:14:24.98\00:14:28.69 swine's flesh and a mouse, you know there is now, 00:14:28.70\00:14:31.61 he put, pork in the same categories eating rats, 00:14:31.62\00:14:35.05 I mean it kind of gives you an idea of how God 00:14:35.81\00:14:38.31 views our diet and what should go into 00:14:38.32\00:14:40.75 our stomach, swine flesh or pork 00:14:40.76\00:14:43.24 and rat and rat. Okay, so I'll think we wanna eat 00:14:43.60\00:14:47.33 any pork or rats or anything of that nature 00:14:47.34\00:14:50.01 because those are scavengers and God says 00:14:50.02\00:14:52.76 when we sanctify ourselves than that 00:14:53.15\00:14:55.53 is not God's will. The Bible has outline what 00:14:55.54\00:14:58.95 we shall eat and what we shall drink, 00:14:58.96\00:15:01.42 so the lesson's clear, the lesson here is that 00:15:01.79\00:15:04.81 we should guard ourselves against false doctrines 00:15:04.82\00:15:07.30 and also rightly divide into word of truth, 00:15:07.92\00:15:10.48 here a little and there a little therefore we have 00:15:11.00\00:15:13.60 a safe understanding of God's will for mankind. 00:15:13.61\00:15:17.90 Now, here we go again this is so important 00:15:18.62\00:15:20.10 then when we study God's word we need to take 00:15:20.11\00:15:22.55 first of all a time out, yeah, to connect with 00:15:22.56\00:15:24.78 the Lord first and ask Him to lead 00:15:24.79\00:15:26.73 and to guide us into the truth and let the 00:15:26.74\00:15:29.29 Holy Spirit give us the information 00:15:29.30\00:15:31.37 we need to have. And when we do that not 00:15:31.38\00:15:34.17 just running into the scripture, 00:15:34.18\00:15:35.33 but actually taking that time out, 00:15:35.34\00:15:36.74 this is when God will actually teach us 00:15:37.12\00:15:38.51 and not only will He teach us through 00:15:38.86\00:15:40.06 the word, we can also get further information 00:15:40.07\00:15:42.34 by going out and doing additional research. 00:15:42.71\00:15:44.82 We're talking to other people who might be able 00:15:45.29\00:15:47.06 to better understand these particular scriptures, 00:15:47.07\00:15:49.03 okay, but God is the one, yes, He is, 00:15:49.04\00:15:51.73 He is the one He's key. You know and there are 00:15:51.74\00:15:52.97 other study materials as my wife has mention 00:15:52.98\00:15:55.03 you have several commentaries, 00:15:55.52\00:15:57.70 Bible dictionaries you have other translation 00:15:58.47\00:16:01.14 now you need to be careful about those 00:16:01.15\00:16:02.31 translations. There are some translations 00:16:02.32\00:16:04.11 there are not good for studying the word of God 00:16:04.12\00:16:06.85 but there is others as well, there are excellent 00:16:06.86\00:16:09.93 the New Kings James Version, 00:16:09.94\00:16:11.47 Revised Standard Version, the New International 00:16:11.97\00:16:14.95 Version, these versions are good amplified Bible, 00:16:14.96\00:16:17.69 but there some other versions that we need 00:16:18.02\00:16:20.11 to be cautious of.
