Welcome to adventures in Missions with Gospel Outreach. 00:00:16.98\00:00:19.61 I'm Julie Saunders Keymer and if you are not familiar 00:00:19.64\00:00:21.70 with Gospel Outreach, we are layman's organization 00:00:21.73\00:00:24.50 that helps the Seventh-Day Adventists Christian churches 00:00:24.53\00:00:26.81 spread the love of the Lord Jesus Christ 00:00:26.84\00:00:28.80 in the 10/40 Window. 00:00:28.83\00:00:30.54 The 10/40 Window is an area 10 degrees 00:00:30.57\00:00:33.10 up to 40 degrees north of the equator 00:00:33.13\00:00:35.18 and it runs the gamut from Africa all the way to Japan. 00:00:35.21\00:00:39.20 It is heavily, heavily populated 00:00:39.23\00:00:41.22 and that's where we have our Gospel Outreach workers 00:00:41.25\00:00:44.02 and that's where we are going to go today 00:00:44.05\00:00:45.76 to one of the countries in the 10/40 Window. 00:00:45.79\00:00:48.39 And we have Fred Webb here. 00:00:48.42\00:00:49.73 And Fred, you are in charge of Gospel Outreach work 00:00:49.76\00:00:52.56 in the Philippines. That's right. 00:00:52.59\00:00:53.97 Well, welcome to Adventures in Missions. 00:00:54.00\00:00:55.38 Thank you. 00:00:55.41\00:00:56.44 So Fred, you go and you check in 00:00:56.47\00:00:58.28 with the Gospel Outreach workers 00:00:58.31\00:00:59.67 and they are contracted through the local mission, is that true? 00:00:59.70\00:01:03.12 Yes. 00:01:03.15\00:01:04.21 And so then they are checking in the missions 00:01:04.24\00:01:06.03 and all of that but then you also are involved 00:01:06.06\00:01:08.35 in encouraging the Gospel Outreach workers 00:01:08.38\00:01:10.64 and the processes? 00:01:10.67\00:01:12.41 Yes, I go once a year for two reasons, 00:01:12.44\00:01:15.47 one to make sure that the people are doing 00:01:15.50\00:01:18.25 what they are supposed to do. 00:01:18.28\00:01:19.31 Because the donors donate for us to be done 00:01:19.34\00:01:22.80 they want to know that their money is doing 00:01:22.83\00:01:25.28 what it supposed to do. 00:01:25.31\00:01:27.34 And the other reason of course 00:01:27.37\00:01:29.05 is to encourage and to get information 00:01:29.08\00:01:32.11 so they can come back and make this report 00:01:32.14\00:01:33.62 so that the donor see what's happening. 00:01:33.65\00:01:35.57 Absolutely, well why don't you share with us 00:01:35.60\00:01:37.72 some of the pictures that you have taken on your last trip? 00:01:37.75\00:01:39.97 Okay, we are gonna start of with a little map here 00:01:40.00\00:01:41.95 to show you where the Philippines are 00:01:41.98\00:01:43.45 in relation to China in north 00:01:43.48\00:01:45.20 and that big island down in the south here is Brunei. 00:01:45.23\00:01:48.90 South of--to the right of that is Indonesia, 00:01:48.93\00:01:53.36 Singapore is straight across to the left. 00:01:53.39\00:01:56.82 The Philippines is a group of islands, its 7,105 island. 00:01:56.85\00:02:01.77 7,105. I'm not sure if its high tide or low tide. 00:02:01.80\00:02:05.44 Okay. They are not all inhabited, I don't think. 00:02:05.47\00:02:08.71 But it's a large number of islands. 00:02:08.74\00:02:11.09 We are going to start out today on the island of Palawan. 00:02:11.12\00:02:14.01 Palawan is probably the most pristine island remaining. 00:02:14.04\00:02:17.83 Why do you say that? 00:02:17.86\00:02:19.01 It is not been damaged as much by humans. 00:02:19.04\00:02:23.10 It's more pristine, it's beautiful. 00:02:23.13\00:02:25.95 Andy Magbanua and his wife Bernadette 00:02:25.98\00:02:28.64 have been working with Gospel Outreach now for 16 years. 00:02:28.67\00:02:33.05 Now Andy doesn't have a college education. 00:02:33.08\00:02:35.85 He would like to but he didn't have the money 00:02:35.88\00:02:38.37 so he has never been able to finish college 00:02:38.40\00:02:40.17 but in 16 years, he and Bernadette 00:02:40.20\00:02:43.08 have raised up eight churches. 00:02:43.11\00:02:44.97 Wow, and here he is taking blood pressure pluses, right? 00:02:45.00\00:02:47.10 He is taking blood pressure that's the way he works. 00:02:47.13\00:02:50.10 He is hands on, he takes care of the needs 00:02:50.13\00:02:54.03 of the people, whatever they might be. 00:02:54.06\00:02:56.02 And I could tell you some miracle stories 00:02:56.05\00:02:57.86 but I don't think I have time today for-- 00:02:57.89\00:02:59.54 for one but--he has-- 00:02:59.57\00:03:04.14 We know the Lord is working. 00:03:04.17\00:03:05.27 He has done very, very good. 00:03:05.30\00:03:07.30 And Bernadette works with cute little kids. 00:03:07.33\00:03:11.03 Cute, little girl. And she is so good with them and she just-- 00:03:11.06\00:03:13.93 she gets the children coming and then the parents say, 00:03:13.96\00:03:16.60 we better go find out what these kids are learning. 00:03:16.63\00:03:18.73 And they come and Andy starts giving Bible studies, 00:03:18.76\00:03:21.80 next thing you know, they have another baptism. 00:03:21.83\00:03:24.68 Here Andy is giving a Bible study in a new area 00:03:24.71\00:03:27.22 that he is just gone to in January of this year. 00:03:27.25\00:03:30.03 This is area of Dumarao in the Northern part of Palawan, 00:03:30.06\00:03:35.68 near the larger town of Roxas. 00:03:35.71\00:03:38.02 Roxas. And their house isn't very nice 00:10:42.15\00:10:44.36 but its, its acceptable. 00:10:44.39\00:10:47.02 He is very industrious man and she lost her--her living. 00:10:47.05\00:10:51.66 So now he has to provide and so he rising, 00:10:51.69\00:10:55.16 these are lima beans down in the valley there 00:10:55.19\00:10:58.92 and of course the banana plant on the side, 00:10:58.95\00:11:01.80 but there is a river, not a river 00:11:01.83\00:11:04.27 but a canal running near by 00:11:04.30\00:11:06.08 that has a deep high border 00:11:06.11\00:11:09.07 on the edge of the bank on the canal. 00:11:09.10\00:11:10.99 So he is digging this trench by hand. 00:11:11.02\00:11:12.90 It's about six feet deep now, 00:11:12.93\00:11:14.69 he has to go down about another two feet 00:11:14.72\00:11:18.00 and so he can channel water over there, 00:11:18.03\00:11:20.02 so he is building a dam to dam up the water 00:11:20.05\00:11:22.52 so that he can irrigate his, his garden. 00:11:22.55\00:11:24.69 Very industrious man. Wow. 00:11:24.72\00:11:27.10 And he had some beautiful produce, beautiful stuff. 00:11:27.13\00:11:30.74 But on Sabbath they load into their little bicycle, tricycle 00:11:30.77\00:11:34.83 and he carry's the family off to church. 00:11:34.86\00:11:37.30 They have this young lady living with them 00:11:37.33\00:11:40.24 to help take care of the children. 00:11:40.27\00:11:41.82 I don't know if you noticed in the former prostitutes arm 00:11:41.85\00:11:46.06 she has one arm, that doesn't straighten out. 00:11:46.09\00:11:50.49 But, so she finds it difficult to do some of her work 00:11:50.52\00:11:53.73 because she can't straighten that arm out. 00:11:53.76\00:11:55.49 So they have a lady that lives with them 00:11:55.52\00:11:56.94 which is very common there in the Philippines. 00:11:56.97\00:11:58.86 But of they go to church-- 00:11:58.89\00:12:00.06 Of they go while when the Lord Jesus comes like 00:12:00.09\00:12:02.29 He healed the man in Luke 6 with the shriveled arm 00:12:02.32\00:12:05.24 and the lady too will-- will be healed by the lord 00:12:05.27\00:12:08.19 when He comes back. 00:12:08.22\00:12:09.56 Well, we want to thank you Fred, for this tour 00:12:09.59\00:12:11.51 and we want to encourage you 00:12:11.54\00:12:13.36 to be involved with Gospel Outreach 00:12:13.39\00:12:15.55 and you can be involved through 00:12:15.58\00:12:17.07 our Adopt-A-Worker program for about a $150 00:12:17.10\00:12:20.21 you can adopt a worker and you can learn 00:12:20.24\00:12:22.26 what's going on with that worker 00:12:22.29\00:12:24.00 and what they are doing in that areas 00:12:24.03\00:12:25.41 as they share the love of the Lord. 00:12:25.44\00:12:27.04 And we have some information for you. 00:12:27.07\00:12:30.00 Gospel Outreach began a mission 20 years ago 00:12:30.03\00:12:32.72 by asking one simple question, 00:12:32.75\00:12:35.16 in a world filled with famine, hunger and salvation, 00:12:35.19\00:12:38.91 what is Jesus waiting for? 00:12:38.94\00:12:41.22 In a world filled with earthquakes, hurricanes 00:12:41.25\00:12:43.59 and natural calamities, what is Jesus waiting for? 00:12:43.62\00:12:48.11 The gospel tells us in Matthew 24:14, 00:12:48.14\00:12:51.22 "And This Gospel of the kingdom 00:12:51.25\00:12:52.87 shall be preached in all the world 00:12:52.90\00:12:54.62 for a witness unto all nations, 00:12:54.65\00:12:56.80 and then shall the end come." 00:12:56.83\00:13:01.23 Inspired by those words Gospel Outreach began 00:13:01.26\00:13:04.12 with one worker and over the past 20 years 00:13:04.15\00:13:06.89 he is grown into an organization 00:13:06.92\00:13:08.49 with 2,200 workers in 40 plus countries. 00:13:08.52\00:13:12.75 Gospel Outreach is an independent 00:13:12.78\00:13:14.64 Seventh-day Adventist lay ministry 00:13:14.67\00:13:16.52 run entirely by volunteers. 00:13:16.55\00:13:19.75 Gospel Outreach works with the organized church 00:13:19.78\00:13:22.10 to sponsor Bible workers in the 10/40 Window. 00:13:22.13\00:13:25.87 Now, what exactly is the 10/40 Window? 00:13:25.90\00:13:29.55 The 10/40 Window is a region of the eastern hemisphere 00:13:29.58\00:13:32.44 located between 10 and 40 degrees north of the equator. 00:13:32.47\00:13:36.45 What makes this region special? 00:13:36.48\00:13:39.00 97% of all the people in the world 00:13:39.03\00:13:41.73 who have never heard the name of Jesus live here. 00:13:41.76\00:13:45.15 Now, how exactly does Gospel Outreach work 00:13:45.18\00:13:47.79 to reach these people? 00:13:47.82\00:13:50.03 We do this by working with the church 00:13:50.06\00:13:51.79 as it places trained indigenous workers in new territories. 00:13:51.82\00:13:55.57 Sending out disciples just as Jesus did. 00:13:55.60\00:13:58.96 When a Bible worker sponsored by Gospel Outreach 00:13:58.99\00:14:01.60 enters a new village, 00:14:01.63\00:14:02.82 it's estimated that in the first year 00:14:02.85\00:14:04.79 an additional 300 individual will be baptized 00:14:04.82\00:14:08.12 and commit their lives to Christ. 00:14:08.15\00:14:10.71 Individuals who had never heard 00:14:10.74\00:14:12.80 the amazing story of God's love 00:14:12.83\00:14:14.89 are getting to meet Jesus for the first time. 00:14:14.92\00:14:17.91 Now how can you help? 00:14:17.94\00:14:19.97 Bible workers rely on sponsorships to support them 00:14:20.00\00:14:22.86 and their families as they share 00:14:22.89\00:14:24.49 the unconditional love of God. 00:14:24.52\00:14:27.60 This is why Gospel Outreach 00:14:27.63\00:14:29.12 is introducing Adopt-A-Worker program. 00:14:29.15\00:14:32.13 Together with the church 00:14:32.16\00:14:33.80 we identify new workers in areas that need to reached. 00:14:33.83\00:14:37.07 That is why it's our goal to introduce 00:14:37.10\00:14:39.02 a million new people to Jesus in the next three years. 00:14:39.05\00:14:42.55 All that is remaining for this work 00:14:42.58\00:14:44.14 to began is your financial help. 00:14:44.17\00:14:47.84 In return we will keep you updated 00:14:47.87\00:14:49.95 on the exciting progress of your worker, 00:14:49.98\00:14:52.35 sending you stories and pictures of the lives 00:14:52.38\00:14:55.04 changed by your donations. 00:14:55.07\00:14:57.10 There are three ways you can get involved. 00:14:57.13\00:14:59.56 You can be a prayer partner for Gospel Outreach 00:14:59.59\00:15:01.86 by praying for our Bible workers. 00:15:01.89\00:15:04.35 Second, become an ambassador 00:15:04.38\00:15:06.02 for our Adopt-A-Worker program 00:15:06.05\00:15:07.61 by telling your family and friends 00:15:07.64\00:15:09.11 about how they can make a difference too 00:15:09.14\00:15:11.58 and finally sponsor a Bible worker. 00:15:11.61\00:15:14.57 Call or visit the website today. 00:15:14.60\00:15:17.68 So now you know a bit about Gospel Outreach 00:15:17.71\00:15:20.51 and now that you know what Jesus is waiting for, 00:15:20.54\00:15:23.22 the final question is what are you waiting for? 00:15:23.25\00:15:26.22 And you can be involved by giving to Gospel Outreach 00:15:29.23\00:15:32.03 and we would ask you and encourage you to do that 00:15:32.06\00:15:34.33 and if you have we want to say thank you 00:15:34.36\00:15:36.48 and we pray that the Lord will impress upon you 00:15:36.51\00:15:39.27 if this is what you should be doing 00:15:39.30\00:15:40.83 because we have been hearing wonderful reports 00:15:40.86\00:15:42.92 from Fred Webb of the Philippines 00:15:42.95\00:15:44.94 and the people who are using out the donors money 00:15:44.97\00:15:48.08 to spread the work of the Lord. 00:15:48.11\00:15:49.77 And you know Fred, to have you or me 00:15:49.80\00:15:52.13 go there to take the time to learn the language 00:15:52.16\00:15:54.57 and to be culturally what, entrenched with these people. 00:15:54.60\00:15:57.79 It's inefficient. It is. 00:15:57.82\00:15:59.64 Because you and I can do things at home 00:15:59.67\00:16:02.74 but they can't do and so we are all working together 00:16:02.77\00:16:06.14 to share the Lord's love with the people around all of us. 00:16:06.17\00:16:09.30 And I think it's a very effective program, 00:16:09.33\00:16:11.44 because the people know the culture, they can-- 00:16:11.47\00:16:13.80 it is go right to work. 00:16:13.83\00:16:14.86 Absolutely. Okay, so, let's go back to more pictures. 00:16:14.89\00:16:17.70 All right, we are gonna show you two very important men. 00:16:17.73\00:16:21.05 The man on the right is Frank Stanyer 00:16:21.08\00:16:23.52 who was a founder of the-- 00:16:23.55\00:16:25.91 the brains behind Gospel Outreach. 00:16:25.94\00:16:28.35 The man on the left was his partner 00:16:28.38\00:16:30.73 and worked with him at the very beginning. 00:16:30.76\00:16:32.54 His name is Edgar Pangilinan. 00:16:32.57\00:16:35.38 Edgar, is still Gospel Outreach worker 00:16:35.41\00:16:38.80 and very much involved with Gospel Outreach there. 00:16:38.83\00:16:41.69 He has eight people working with him 00:16:41.72\00:16:44.93 and he is kind of their leader and he does an excellent job. 00:16:44.96\00:16:49.49 Frank lives just around a corner from Edgar 00:16:49.52\00:16:51.61 and they partner together quite frequently. 00:16:51.64\00:16:55.01 Frank went with us on one of our trips this time, 00:16:55.04\00:16:58.51 up to the little church in Villa Maria 00:16:58.54\00:17:01.26 that was built by Gospel Outreach. 00:17:01.29\00:17:02.62 What a nice Church. 00:17:02.65\00:17:04.21 And it is very cheaply done 00:17:04.24\00:17:06.19 because the construction workers were the Gospel Outreach workers 00:17:06.22\00:17:09.60 and the local people. 00:17:09.63\00:17:11.11 They didn't hire contractor to come in, they did themselves. 00:17:11.14\00:17:13.85 Back in the day they raised a barn in America, 00:17:13.88\00:17:15.89 they are raising a church in the Philippines. 00:17:15.92\00:17:17.17 And they did a good job. 00:17:17.20\00:17:18.48 But not all the churches are quite that nice. 00:17:18.51\00:17:20.31 This one is in-- in Pinatubo area 00:17:20.34\00:17:24.66 which is relocation centre for the displaced Aeta's 00:17:24.69\00:17:30.28 when Mount Pinatubo blew off. 00:17:30.31\00:17:32.65 They lost their homes 00:17:32.68\00:17:33.91 and so this is one of their relocation centers. 00:17:33.94\00:17:36.16 Well, I like that church, Fred. 00:17:36.19\00:17:37.54 We have the money in hand to build a nice church there 00:17:37.57\00:17:41.76 but they haven't been able to get permission 00:17:41.79\00:17:45.98 to have real property 00:17:46.01\00:17:48.29 that they won't be taken away from them. 00:17:48.32\00:17:49.91 So, they built this temporary church 00:17:49.94\00:17:52.50 just to get that until they get permission 00:17:52.53\00:17:54.78 to build a good one. 00:17:54.81\00:17:55.84 So what is that on the side, is that bamboo? 00:17:55.87\00:17:57.61 Yeah, that's--that's what they call this a sawali, 00:17:57.64\00:18:01.54 its split bamboo that's woven. 00:18:01.57\00:18:03.50 Ah, that's beautiful. 00:18:03.53\00:18:04.61 And it's--it's nice and I like it 00:18:04.64\00:18:06.68 because it lets the air through. 00:18:06.71\00:18:10.60 In one of our villages where we started out 00:18:10.63\00:18:13.49 in Nebu Club has now become a resort area 00:18:13.52\00:18:18.23 and they have this large statue of Christ. 00:18:18.26\00:18:20.62 I have it picture with my wife and in front there 00:18:20.65\00:18:22.28 just to give some idea of how big it really is. 00:18:22.31\00:18:24.83 It's huge. 00:18:24.86\00:18:26.45 In that same area they have one of the longest 00:18:26.48\00:18:28.88 I think it is the longest zip line 00:18:28.91\00:18:31.41 at least in the Philippines. 00:18:31.44\00:18:32.91 It's probably at least a half a mile to a mile long. 00:18:32.94\00:18:36.69 Fred, do you know why they put that statue of Christ there? 00:18:36.72\00:18:41.11 No, I don't really. Interesting, that's wonderful. 00:18:41.14\00:18:44.77 But the people are largely Christian, 00:18:44.80\00:18:47.26 Philippines is the only real Christian nation in Asia. 00:18:47.29\00:18:50.54 In Asia and Korea. 00:18:50.57\00:18:53.05 They are heavily populating in Korea. 00:18:53.08\00:18:55.02 So, zip line right under the Statue of Jesus. 00:18:55.05\00:18:57.70 It goes actually down the other side of the hill. 00:18:57.73\00:18:59.78 But this is the kind of the view you would have, 00:18:59.81\00:19:01.67 if you were zipping down that line. 00:19:01.70\00:19:03.13 Gorgeous. I dint do it, I have a fear of that kind of thing. 00:19:03.16\00:19:05.24 I was just gonna ask you Fred, come on did you do it? 00:19:05.27\00:19:08.42 Children are children every where, 00:19:08.45\00:19:10.29 these three little girls where just as cute as 00:19:10.32\00:19:13.01 they could be and I couldn't resist taking a picture of them. 00:19:13.04\00:19:15.97 They had some little snacks 00:19:16.00\00:19:17.42 they were eating and they were-- 00:19:17.45\00:19:19.31 eat a little bit and they run around and play. 00:19:19.34\00:19:21.23 How cute. 00:19:21.26\00:19:24.06 We have a program we call it Adopt-A-Worker 00:19:24.09\00:19:26.22 that we just heard about. 00:19:26.25\00:19:27.49 Well, this man standing in front with a pointer 00:19:27.52\00:19:30.28 is one of those. His name is Anchois. 00:19:30.31\00:19:34.73 And he is working in a village where there has been 00:19:34.76\00:19:38.93 no Seventh-Day Adventists presence before. 00:19:38.96\00:19:41.28 And one of the problems he has 00:19:41.31\00:19:42.65 is they don't know how to read and write. 00:19:42.68\00:19:43.84 These are Aeta tribal people and he believes 00:19:43.87\00:19:47.71 and I believe as well that in order to make good Christians 00:19:47.74\00:19:50.55 they need to be able to read the bible. 00:19:50.58\00:19:52.22 For themselves. Right. 00:19:52.25\00:19:53.73 And so he is teaching them how to read and write. 00:19:53.76\00:19:57.50 And here is standing with some of the leaders 00:19:57.53\00:19:59.91 in the group that he has assembled there. 00:19:59.94\00:20:03.65 This lady is the leader. 00:20:03.68\00:20:06.76 She is the most prominent one there 00:20:06.79\00:20:08.93 and she is giving us some of the products 00:20:08.96\00:20:10.75 that she has raised. 00:20:10.78\00:20:11.81 Yeah, looks like an eggplant. That was an eggplant. 00:20:11.84\00:20:13.24 They are the long, long eggplant Japanese style. 00:20:13.27\00:20:17.60 I like that better than the other. 00:20:17.63\00:20:20.01 Their water source is quite away from their village, 00:20:20.04\00:20:22.79 that's one of the problems. 00:20:22.82\00:20:23.85 They have to carry their water from down below 00:20:23.88\00:20:25.75 and it's about I would say half a mile from a village. 00:20:25.78\00:20:29.92 So you are telling me that there is a well 00:20:29.95\00:20:32.31 in the middle of that picket. 00:20:32.34\00:20:33.39 No, there is water running out of the crown there, 00:20:33.42\00:20:36.01 you see that one coming cross at an angle. 00:20:36.04\00:20:38.11 And so that's where they go get their water. 00:20:38.14\00:20:39.63 Yeah, there is water coming out of that bamboo. 00:20:39.66\00:20:41.42 Wow. But it's a long ways in a village. 00:20:41.45\00:20:45.39 This is Jimmy and he is been giving Bible studies 00:20:45.42\00:20:48.40 in a village there and this young couple 00:20:48.43\00:20:50.60 have prepared themselves for baptism 00:20:50.63\00:20:53.29 and they are going to be baptized. 00:20:53.32\00:20:56.83 As I was there they were holding evangelistic meetings 00:20:56.86\00:20:59.27 in a meeting in a village near by 00:20:59.30\00:21:01.74 and here they are setting up equipment. 00:21:01.77\00:21:04.27 You know, they show up in town with computers 00:21:04.30\00:21:07.55 and a video projector and a generator and-- 00:21:07.58\00:21:11.36 You are like where in the world 00:21:11.39\00:21:12.49 did that come from when you. 00:21:12.52\00:21:14.52 And they draw the cards. Wow. 00:21:14.55\00:21:17.28 They usually start out with a children's program, 00:21:17.31\00:21:21.00 here is Linda that's Edgar's wife 00:21:21.03\00:21:23.09 who is telling a story for the children, 00:21:23.12\00:21:25.19 then after the children's program 00:21:25.22\00:21:26.62 they have a preaching service for the adults. 00:21:26.65\00:21:29.30 This is a mother and daughter combo, 00:21:29.33\00:21:31.49 the mother on the right. 00:21:31.52\00:21:32.78 Rosetta is in her mid 70's still going strong 00:21:32.81\00:21:36.37 as the Gospel Outreach worker. 00:21:36.40\00:21:38.35 Her daughter Rosell has been with them now 00:21:38.38\00:21:41.05 for I think about eight years. 00:21:41.08\00:21:44.60 She graduated with a degree and education. 00:21:44.63\00:21:47.37 Could have a good job but she says I like this 00:21:47.40\00:21:51.68 and so she is continue to work with that. 00:21:51.71\00:21:53.57 They are giving a health lecture. 00:21:53.60\00:21:55.34 Sitting on bamboo. 00:21:55.37\00:21:57.16 This is a pastor of a Barangay church 00:21:57.19\00:22:01.52 that is in that same village 00:22:01.55\00:22:03.19 and he is very friendly and very nice 00:22:03.22\00:22:04.69 and we have hopes that one day 00:22:04.72\00:22:06.35 we might be able to win him over. 00:22:06.38\00:22:08.24 He seemed a very friendly and not at all prejudice. 00:22:08.27\00:22:10.89 Well, we'll be working together 00:22:10.92\00:22:12.16 on behalf of the Lord, how great is that? 00:22:12.19\00:22:14.17 Right, they live in kind of primitive situations 00:22:14.20\00:22:17.71 when they go out to these places 00:22:17.74\00:22:18.84 but they are both men and woman involved in the team 00:22:18.87\00:22:21.27 so they have a little private tent so they sleep in. 00:22:21.30\00:22:23.88 On concrete now. Yes, on concrete. 00:22:23.91\00:22:28.60 They had a baptism while we were there 00:22:28.63\00:22:31.63 and we went out to the baptismal site 00:22:31.66\00:22:34.06 and there was a long by river, 00:22:34.09\00:22:37.56 we had a little hard time finding it 00:22:37.59\00:22:38.84 but it was a nice site for baptism. 00:22:38.87\00:22:41.57 And there were I think there were 11 baptized that day. 00:22:41.60\00:22:48.44 Here is the baptism itself 00:22:48.47\00:22:50.21 and we have just a short video of baptism. 00:22:50.24\00:22:52.70 Oh, good. 00:22:52.73\00:22:55.21 They first have the prayer 00:22:55.24\00:22:57.35 and do the through the whole ritual that we do, 00:22:57.38\00:23:00.98 but you know baptism is a special time 00:23:01.01\00:23:02.84 when the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit 00:23:02.87\00:23:04.61 are all present and it's a very sacred time and I-- 00:23:04.64\00:23:08.51 I just enjoy watching baptisms. 00:23:08.54\00:23:12.44 And it--it just brings pleasure to the hearts 00:23:12.47\00:23:16.17 of anyone who is been working. 00:23:16.20\00:23:17.97 Because each of those people 00:23:18.00\00:23:19.32 there are have accepted Jesus. 00:23:19.35\00:23:20.73 That's right and after the baptism 00:23:20.76\00:23:22.57 they have a prayer and then they lined up 00:23:22.60\00:23:24.74 on the shore for people to come along and to greet them. 00:23:24.77\00:23:29.76 But that's not the end and doing this baptism 00:23:29.79\00:23:32.12 we had a little distraction. 00:23:32.15\00:23:34.16 It was right beside a gravel quarry 00:23:34.19\00:23:37.09 and they were working. 00:23:37.12\00:23:38.73 While you can see this guy appear 00:23:38.76\00:23:39.88 from top of the hill dumping rocks over the edge 00:23:39.91\00:23:43.48 and kind of distracted a little bit, 00:23:43.51\00:23:46.69 at least it distracted me because I'm interested in fun. 00:23:46.72\00:23:48.97 It is sure, there you go. 00:23:49.00\00:23:51.49 And after the baptism they usually have a meal 00:23:51.52\00:23:55.20 so here they cook the rice and over the three stones 00:23:55.23\00:23:58.11 and then they pot there 00:23:58.14\00:23:59.36 with a kind of a tan colored stuff that's jackfruit. 00:23:59.39\00:24:03.80 And jackfruit they are big, they are big. 00:24:03.83\00:24:05.77 And it's a largest fruit in the world. Yes, its huge. 00:24:05.80\00:24:07.82 They are probably, well the average 00:24:07.85\00:24:10.44 would be probably about two feet long 00:24:10.47\00:24:11.82 and about a foot in diameter. 00:24:11.85\00:24:13.08 And they boil it? 00:24:13.11\00:24:14.82 I have never seen them prepare like that. 00:24:14.85\00:24:16.48 Well, when its green before it gets ripe 00:24:16.51\00:24:18.76 then they chop it up and even the seeds are good. 00:24:18.79\00:24:23.34 And they boil it and cook it and of course 00:24:23.37\00:24:25.71 they season it a little bit. 00:24:25.74\00:24:27.09 And that's what they use for the food. 00:24:27.12\00:24:28.51 Of course when the fruit gets ripe, 00:24:28.54\00:24:30.23 then its fruit and it's sweet. 00:24:30.26\00:24:32.42 Interesting. I like it and some people don't. 00:24:32.45\00:24:34.92 It gets sticky on your lips 00:24:34.95\00:24:36.87 so you can glue your lips together. 00:24:36.90\00:24:40.11 Then they set the table. Perfect. 00:24:40.14\00:24:42.71 That table is made of banana leaves, 00:24:42.74\00:24:45.21 just lay it on the ground and their plates 00:24:45.24\00:24:47.66 they just dump the rice out on the banana leaves-- 00:24:47.69\00:24:49.96 How clean. 00:24:49.99\00:24:51.02 And everybody reaches in with the fingers 00:24:51.05\00:24:52.55 and you know if I try to eat that way, 00:24:52.58\00:24:56.29 I have it all over my face. 00:24:56.32\00:24:57.35 I tried one time, I went to a-- to a native social 00:24:57.38\00:25:01.08 and everybody was eating rice with their fingers. 00:25:01.11\00:25:03.81 What choice did I have? 00:25:03.84\00:25:04.87 There were no utensils since so I tried 00:25:04.90\00:25:06.90 but ended with all around my mouth. 00:25:06.93\00:25:08.67 Hey that makes cleaning easy. 00:25:08.70\00:25:12.02 So, we enjoy our work in the Philippines. 00:25:12.05\00:25:14.02 I can see that. 00:25:14.05\00:25:15.08 It's great to be able to travel around and meet 00:25:15.11\00:25:17.98 and see these friends that I have come acquainted with 00:25:18.01\00:25:21.13 and we just enjoy every minute of it. 00:25:21.16\00:25:23.99 So what's your biggest need in your territory, Fred? 00:25:24.02\00:25:26.55 More workers.
