Well, two years ago I
had the privilege of working

with the Quiet
Hour in Baguio city.

Now Baguio is a resort city up
in the northern part of Luzon.

It's about 5,000 feet
elevation so it's cool.

It's north of Manila.

Oh, its north of Manila
about six hours by the car.

And it's up in the-- so it's
up in the mountains, it's cool

and that's where people in
the Philippines go to cool off.

And we had a
series of meetings there,

we had ten venues

and one of those was
in a place called Ecuab

I think that's an
acronym for something

but I don't know what

Anyway, at the
close of the meetings,

of course, there
were some baptized

recommended and mission placed

people move around,

many people actually stayed.

places so they weren't very many

giving Bible studies

work, they met this man,

Sally. Arsenio was a gold miner.

There's a lot of
gold around Baguio City.

And he was a gold miner,

private man, has 35 employees

and they go digging
back into the mountains.

I asked him if I can go
back into the mountain with him,

he said no, no, no.

They wanted to study
the Bible. Good, praise God.

And they studied and
both of them accepted.

Seventh-day Adventists

but they had no place to worship

because when we
held the meetings there,

it was, you know,
big public gymnasium.

So he said, well,
I have a big house.

Wow, that is a big house.

It's a tall house. Yeah.

And he had a
large room downstairs.

He said, well, why
don't we meet in my house?

And so the people come
to church on Sabbath morning

and it is a long way down

because Baguio is steep.

It's built on
hills and mountains,

not just hills with
steep canyons all around.

But they're used
to, they live there.

and so they
came down these steps

to go to church
on Sabbath morning.

There were several there.

Now this is the one individual

the Quiet Hour baptism.

found jobs elsewhere

She's involved with the church?

neighbors think about

here in the States,

Bible in the school

or you can't have a prayer.

There they have prayer
in school, it's very common

and they talk
about religious things

so it's not a
problem. Well, that's good.

This is the
head in another area,

he was the
Gospel Outreach worker,

he was assigned two
areas close together

and so he's now
built up two congregations,

And they are
meeting in separate places

but on this particular
Sabbath they came together,

fellowship together.

So what they're trying to do

And we don't worship

So he has no problem of
love and affection there.

The other 50% are Catholics,

Protestants and
the tribal people.

And they do a lot of
friendship evangelism.

Anyway, the man you see there,

he was a pastor of an
evangelical church that he met

and his name is Dencio

and he was interested,

the pastor there on
what do Adventist believe.

He was quickly into the Sabbath

and so Elias
gave him bible studies

and he came two weeks ago.

On March 30, we had a big mass
baptism there in General Santos

and another two which

and this pastor
was one that came. Wow.

Now the man in the
center there with stick,

he is what they
call a quack doctor.

He dealt with the

and he is now accepted
Jesus as his savior. Wow.

and he was just ready to

on his motorcycle. Oh-oh.

taken to the hospital,

he had many facial cuts,
he had injury on the head

and his chest was hurting
so he was put in the hospital,

there where they sewed him up

and he had some
things on his head,

And but he came the
night for the next meeting.

and we have a meeting tonight

and the doctor said no,

you cannot leave the hospital.

So after the doctor
left, he said I must go.

So he got up out
of the bed. No way.

Went to the cupboard,
got his regular clothes,

took off his hospital gown,
put on his clothes and he--

He just discharged himself.

He went to the
meeting, he held the meeting.

After the meeting was over,
he went back to the hospital,

he took off his
clothes, put it in the cupboard,

put on his gown
and got back into bed.

That's a determinant man
for the Lord I'll say. Right.

Three days later, the
doctor did dismiss him

and he
continued with his meeting

and on November
24th, this is 2012,

he baptized 33
people, 29 were new members

and four were former Adventists.

Then on February of this year,
he baptized another 31. Wow.

From neighboring area and
then at this man's baptism,

he brought 40 more
people. Bless his heart.

So he has been very
active working for the Lord.

Now the next man we
have there is Samuel Tambunan

and he worked in an
area, when he got there,

they were having problems.

There was the native people

and then another
people group had moved in

and they thought they
were superior to the natives

and were trying to
takeover their land.

So there was big friction

well, the Datu is
the chief of the natives,
00:23:34.36\00:23:37.64
he called for a
meeting where they get together

and to workout their
differences and now Samuel had,

actually he had been a
pastor of alliance church.
00:23:46.45\00:23:51.61
But he was baptized in 1980,

started working for
the Gospel Outreach in 2000

and he spoke several
languages, the native languages.

And so he was asked
to be the translator

as they have these negotiations.

And anyway, the outcome
was that the Datu decided

that the newcomers go back
and you find land somewhere else

and the local Subanon
tribe will keep their land.

things that he does is

He has translated

into their local dialect.
