outreach training center.

gospel outreach workers there

but they need training.

Well, we have all
together 1,200 workers in India

and about 800 of them
are in Andhra Pradesh.

And so this training center that
we are gonna be talking about

is like building-- providing
tools to our carpenters.

Imagine having 1,200
workers and no tools.

And these workers
are very dedicated,

they are awesome workers.

They are doing great job.

But they could do
probably 10 times more,

if they had the
adequate training.

So we are gonna be building
their scales and their training.

searching for the land.

to discuss the concept

of developing Gospel
Outreach Training Center.

As you know we have
nearly 1,200 workers

in Southern Asia division.

And in some areas more
than 80% of the baptisms

are as a result of the efforts

of these dedicated
Gospel Outreach workers.

But one thing we have
realized over the years

that they are dedicated,

they are very
enthusiastic young people,

most of them,
under the age of 40.

However, they lack training.

And so, in order to
strengthen their hands,

the group here
has developed the idea

of-- of developing a state
of the art training centre.

This training centre will be
a Multifaceted Training Centre.

In addition to training Gospel
Outreach workers for the future

as well as strengthening
the skills and training

and the knowledge of those
who are already in the field.

We will also
have general training

for woman's ministry
and for youth department,

for laity and many
other groups from the church

so God's work can move forward.

the better we equip our people

can be in the cause of God.

Well, this is the training that
we conducted this past February.

We had 600 workers
who came in for training

and this is how
we were housing them

and giving them water in
very, very temporary make shift
00:05:31.18\00:05:37.63
types of arrangement when
we go and do the training.

And imagine 600
people on a campus.

And we--we had
make shift baiting area,
00:05:47.22\00:05:52.32
make shift places where we serve
them water and dinning area.

So it was-- it was quite
a challenge that I tell you.

I remember the last--
00:06:02.52\00:06:07.53
last activity we were
having was the Sabbath service.

So when I was about to preach,

all of a sudden it started rain

and I said, "Well,
you know, we're gonna pray
00:06:17.08\00:06:19.17
and rain may just go away."
00:06:19.20\00:06:21.58
Well, that wasn't
God's will that day.
00:06:21.61\00:06:24.11
And so all of a
sudden, the tent collapsed.
00:06:24.14\00:06:28.62
And you will see it in a video
I think, they're gonna see it.

Oh, just the way that
the water coming down.

And it was amazing to see

all the Gospel
Outreach workers, 600 of them.

They picked up these
chairs that they were sitting on

and like an umbrella

and they walked two
blocks away to a cafeteria.

And so they
settled down in a cafeteria

and that's where we had
our church service eventually.

And here what
you see in the video,

we generally
conclude our training

by having a dedication service.

So with the candle
light and we tell everybody

candle that God is asking you

the places wherever you are.

And imagine you know seeing
600 people dressed in white

and carrying these
candles, it was so inspiring.

I just wish I could
just stay with them.

It was so, so beautiful.

And they are just
doing marvelous work

under so many
difficult circumstances.

Most of these
people have bicycles.

And imagine riding bicycle for,

you know, 10, 15,
20 miles a day one way.

One way. Yes.

And then when the
heat in the summer time,

the heat gets to
be over 100 degrees

and still these
folks work, work, work.

And you will feel that all
your excusive are to disappear,

when you see the work

of these dedicated
Christian young people.

And this is the tent
we are talking about.

We generally rent a large tent,

because to house 600
people, we have no facility.

And so when you
have no facility,

we get a tent by once in a while
when the weather goes back.

Like here you
find, it is the rainy

and our tent has collapsed.

All tents came
down. That's right.

But by having a
training centre that would

then have a
location for the meetings

and people to
stay and all of that.

Yes, and
actually this is gonna be

revolutionizing our work
in Southern Asia division.

And the concept
is not just to have

the--the Gospel
Outreach workers trained.

But the concept is to
expand so that everybody
00:08:48.51\00:08:52.70
all the laity in
that area is also trained.

So many of our
members in our churches
00:08:56.53\00:09:00.76
are women and youth.

And youth have not been
tapped it all their resources.

India has 1.2 billion people,
60 % under the age of 30.
00:09:09.41\00:09:14.59
Okay, say those number
again so we can really count.

1.2 billion. Wow.

So that would be
like more than three times
00:09:18.98\00:09:23.44
the population of
the United States.
00:09:23.47\00:09:26.11
And yet the area is three
times smaller geographically.

And so we have the
population about 60%

almost 60% is
under the age of 30.

Which means let's say
young nation as a population

that we can only reach
through young people and women?

The outreach to
women can be most effective

when done through women.

And so they have a department

of woman's
ministry at the division.

And we are
hoping that these women,

they will be trained.

And when women are
trained, rightly equipped,

they are the
most powerful force.

Watch out. You better watch out.

The Lord is empowering.

Because of the cultural issues
it is not possible for women--

for men to do
effective outreach to women.

And in India men don't
shake hand with the women.

They don't? Not--
00:10:27.00\00:10:28.66
Maybe in high educated circles

but in villages, no, you
don't do that, you don't touch.

And so--but women can
go and talk to other women.

It is so
effective method to reach.

And we are training our workers

and we will be training
them more in a consistent way

when the training
centre is developed.

So you have the land,
now you are working on

getting the building,
the funding and all of that.

That's right and
developing the curriculum

and forming the partnerships.

We have many other agencies
that are doing some training

but it is not comprehensive
and it's not consistent

and the resources are limited.

And we believe
that working together

in pulling our resources,
our talents and skills.

We could develop a more
comprehensive training concept

and which will meet the need
of our Gospel Outreach workers.

So what was it
like for you--you said,

fire for the lord?

Well, to tell you
how excited the group was

and how excited I was, you know,

I was greatly humbled
and embarrassed as well,

because they all wanted
to take pictures with me.

And then I said, "No,
we're not gonna do that way

but we will take
pictures with their groups.

So we have each

So the hunger for Jesus
is phenomenal. It's huge.

The first thing we will do is to
develop pastoral care concept.

that our workers need in
the area of pastoral care.

And the second one will
be how to give Bible studies.

When you were talking to
people of different religions

and different
cultural backgrounds,

you never contradict
what they already know,

you don't
criticize their religions,

their current practices.

to enhance their personal

There are many resources
available in the community
