You've learned. 00:02:39.95\00:02:41.32 I want you to lead the people out of Egypt." 00:02:41.36\00:02:43.86 He said, "How am I going to do this?" 00:02:43.89\00:02:45.26 God said, "I'll give you My power. 00:02:45.29\00:02:46.59 Trust Me." 00:02:46.63\00:02:48.03 So, Moses went, and he met up with his brother, Aaron. 00:02:48.06\00:02:52.10 And before he went to the Pharaoh, he was instructed first 00:02:52.13\00:02:55.74 to gather together the elders, the leaders of Israel, 00:02:55.77\00:02:58.61 and tell them, "God is about to visit you and 00:02:58.64\00:03:01.01 do many wonders and signs to deliver you." 00:03:01.04\00:03:05.11 But since they'd been living in 00:03:05.15\00:03:06.45 Egypt, they had drifted from God. 00:03:06.48\00:03:09.42 See, Abraham, the Bible tells us he obeyed God's commandments, 00:03:09.45\00:03:13.09 and laws, and precepts, but His people in Egypt 00:03:13.12\00:03:15.69 had begun to compromise with the Egyptians. 00:03:15.72\00:03:18.39 Egypt was full of idols. You still see that today. 00:03:18.43\00:03:21.13 And they started to get involved in idolatry, 00:03:21.16\00:03:23.70 and some of their promiscuity and other problems. 00:03:23.73\00:03:26.67 And among the things that happened is they had stopped 00:03:26.70\00:03:30.84 remembering God's holy time because the 00:03:30.87\00:03:33.48 Pharaoh had them working 7 days a week. 00:03:33.51\00:03:35.74 "Then Moses and Aaron went, and they gathered together 00:03:35.78\00:03:38.15 all the elders of the children of Israel. 00:03:38.18\00:03:40.98 And afterward, Moses and Aaron went in and they told the 00:03:41.02\00:03:43.18 Pharaoh, "Thus says the Lord God of Israel, 'Let My people go.'" 00:03:43.22\00:03:48.46 Pharaoh said, "Who is the Lord that I should let Israel go?" 00:03:48.49\00:03:52.13 And the Pharaoh said, "Look, the people of the land are many." 00:03:52.16\00:03:55.26 Pharaoh had his spies out there, and he knew the taskmasters were 00:03:55.30\00:03:58.47 watching when Moses and Aaron met with the leaders. 00:03:58.50\00:04:03.07 And he said, "The people are many, 00:04:03.10\00:04:04.87 and you make them rest from their labor." 00:04:04.91\00:04:08.44 'Cause they had started keeping the Sabbath again. 00:04:08.48\00:04:10.95 And the word there--even the Pharaoh uses this word. 00:04:10.98\00:04:13.58 "'You make them shabbat. 00:04:13.62\00:04:16.05 You're making them rest from their labor. 00:04:16.08\00:04:18.65 I'm not going to let them rest anymore. 00:04:18.69\00:04:20.96 Thus said the Pharaoh, 'I will not give you straw. 00:04:20.99\00:04:24.03 Go out and find straw where you can find it.' 00:04:24.06\00:04:27.66 And he said, 'I'm going to basically 00:04:27.73\00:04:29.00 increase your workload. 00:04:29.03\00:04:31.43 Therefore go now and work, for no straw will be given you.' 00:04:31.47\00:04:34.80 Says, 'You're idle, and you're listening to senseless words.'" 00:04:34.84\00:04:38.44 Pharaoh knew that they'd been listening to Moses and Aaron. 00:04:38.47\00:04:41.18 He didn't want them to listen. 00:04:41.21\00:04:42.88 And he figured, "If I can keep them working, working, working, 00:04:42.91\00:04:45.28 they won't think about worshiping their God. 00:04:45.31\00:04:47.35 They won't think about being free. 00:04:47.38\00:04:49.05 Just get them too busy to think about freedom." 00:04:49.08\00:04:52.72 Now, if I was going to tell you, tonight, friends, "I've got good 00:04:52.75\00:04:54.69 news for you, at the conclusion of our presentation, tonight, 00:04:54.72\00:04:58.13 you have the opportunity to have joy, to be blessed, to have 00:04:58.16\00:05:03.47 peace, to have rest," would you say, "Hey, I'm all in for that"? 00:05:03.50\00:05:09.00 That's the result of what I want to 00:05:09.04\00:05:10.81 share with you, tonight, it is a blessing. 00:05:10.84\00:05:13.41 I want to talk to you about something where God wants you to 00:05:13.44\00:05:15.68 be blessed, and a lot of people have been--the devil's got them 00:05:15.71\00:05:19.28 working themselves to death like the Pharaoh, making bricks 00:05:19.31\00:05:22.52 without straw, empty distractions with 00:05:22.55\00:05:25.65 the cares and worries of the world. 00:05:25.69\00:05:28.39 Jesus said, "When it comes to the second coming," He said, 00:05:28.42\00:05:30.66 "Take heed, beware, lest your hearts be overcharged with 00:05:30.69\00:05:34.56 surfeiting, and drunkenness, and the cares of this life, 00:05:34.60\00:05:37.70 so that day overtakes you as a thief." 00:05:37.73\00:05:40.10 The devil wants us to be so busy with the cares of this life. 00:05:40.14\00:05:43.24 Have we ever had a culture that is busier 00:05:43.27\00:05:45.31 than what's going on in the world, today? 00:05:45.34\00:05:47.91 Never. 00:05:47.94\00:05:49.24 You know, partly because of Thomas Edison. 00:05:49.28\00:05:51.55 Used to be when the sun went down, people went to bed. 00:05:51.58\00:05:54.48 It was expensive to keep oil lamps burning all night long. 00:05:54.52\00:05:56.82 Had to kill a lot of whales back then to do that. 00:05:56.85\00:06:01.12 According to the American Psychological Association, 00:06:01.16\00:06:04.56 stress is linked to the six leading causes of death in the 00:06:04.59\00:06:07.86 United States, heart disease, cancer, lung ailments, 00:06:07.86\00:06:12.70 accidents, cirrhosis of the liver, and suicide. 00:06:12.73\00:06:16.40 And the Bible's got a prescription 00:06:16.44\00:06:18.11 for that kind of stress. 00:06:18.14\00:06:20.48 We're living in the age of stress due largely 00:06:20.51\00:06:23.24 to laptop computers, smartphones, email. 00:06:23.28\00:06:25.91 The concept of leaving work at home 00:06:25.95\00:06:27.85 has almost become obsolete, amen. 00:06:27.88\00:06:30.89 I know it. 00:06:30.92\00:06:32.22 With Karen, I've got a place way up in the hills. 00:06:32.25\00:06:36.26 But years ago, I figured out, hey, I can get satellite 00:06:36.29\00:06:38.99 reception up here and have the Internet. 00:06:39.03\00:06:41.56 And now even when I go out of town on vacation, I find myself 00:06:41.60\00:06:45.53 checking my emails to find out what work has been left undone. 00:06:45.57\00:06:49.64 And Karen will say, "Come on, Doug, we're out here. 00:06:49.67\00:06:52.44 Let's go take a walk or work in the garden." 00:06:52.47\00:06:54.21 I'll say, "I've just got a new email. 00:06:54.24\00:06:55.54 I'll be right there." 00:06:55.58\00:06:58.85 How many of you have emailed your spouse or texted them, and 00:06:58.88\00:07:02.25 they're still in the house with you? 00:07:02.28\00:07:05.22 You don't want to raise your hand, but I could tell by the 00:07:05.25\00:07:06.96 laughs that some of you are guilty. 00:07:06.99\00:07:10.59 But we're living in an age where people are working to death, and 00:07:10.63\00:07:14.30 churches used to know about that day every week that was called 00:07:14.30\00:07:18.07 the day of rest, and people aren't resting anymore. 00:07:18.10\00:07:22.50 So, we're going to study that subject because it is not only a 00:07:22.54\00:07:24.91 blessing, it is a commandment of God. 00:07:24.94\00:07:27.34 And what the devil is going to do in the last days is try to 00:07:27.38\00:07:30.51 get people to disobey God's commandments. 00:07:30.55\00:07:33.92 One time there was a--you know the story 00:07:33.95\00:07:35.75 about the talking donkey and Balaam? 00:07:35.78\00:07:39.49 God protected His people. Balaam wanted to curse them. 00:07:39.52\00:07:43.76 He tried to curse them, and blessings came out. 00:07:43.79\00:07:45.99 Balaam went back to the king of Moab and said, "Look, if you 00:07:46.03\00:07:48.36 want me to curse Israel," he says, "I can't just curse them. 00:07:48.40\00:07:51.27 But if you can tempt them to disobey one 00:07:51.30\00:07:53.20 of God's commandments, then God will 00:07:53.23\00:07:55.27 withdraw His protection, and they'll suffer. 00:07:55.30\00:07:57.31 You've got to get them to disobey." 00:07:57.34\00:07:59.34 So, they sent a bunch of women in, enticing them to idolatry 00:07:59.37\00:08:02.81 and adultery, and a curse fell on Israel. 00:08:02.84\00:08:06.15 The devil tries to get us to disobey 00:08:06.18\00:08:08.25 'cause sin hurts us, and it hurts God. 00:08:08.28\00:08:10.92 That's what happened in Daniel chapter 3. 00:08:10.95\00:08:13.72 Nebuchadnezzar makes an image. 00:08:13.76\00:08:15.06 Those who do not pray to the image 00:08:15.09\00:08:16.39 will be thrown in the furnace. 00:08:16.42\00:08:17.73 He tries to get God's people to compromise. 00:08:17.76\00:08:20.10 Daniel chapter--and that's the second commandment. 00:08:20.13\00:08:22.60 Daniel chapter 6, tries to get Daniel to 00:08:22.63\00:08:24.93 pray to the king instead of to God. 00:08:24.97\00:08:27.20 That's breaking the first commandment. 00:08:27.24\00:08:30.27 And in the last days, he's also going to 00:08:30.31\00:08:31.67 focus on the fourth commandment. 00:08:31.71\00:08:33.54 But so many Christians have basically 00:08:33.58\00:08:36.41 skipped over this commandment. 00:08:36.44\00:08:38.01 First question, "Did God make the 00:08:38.05\00:08:39.75 Sabbath rest only for Israelites?" 00:08:39.78\00:08:42.52 I often hear people say, "Well, yeah, that's a Jewish law." 00:08:42.55\00:08:45.62 And when we interview people, they say, "Oh, 00:08:45.65\00:08:46.96 yeah, well, that's for the Jews." 00:08:46.99\00:08:48.76 Well, is that what the Bible says? 00:08:48.79\00:08:50.83 Jesus said, Mark chapter 2, verse 27, "And He said, "The 00:08:50.86\00:08:54.20 Sabbath was made for," what's it say? 00:08:54.20\00:08:57.73 "For man, and not man for the Sabbath." 00:08:57.77\00:09:00.44 That word there, "man" in the Greek 00:09:00.47\00:09:01.77 is, like I said, Anthropos, it means humanity. 00:09:01.80\00:09:04.81 Do only Jews need to rest, or does everybody need rest? 00:09:04.84\00:09:09.31 Of course, this is something that we all need. 00:09:09.34\00:09:12.38 By the way, there in the garden of Eden, 00:09:12.41\00:09:13.88 God made something else for man. 00:09:13.92\00:09:16.25 The Bible said, "It's not good that man should be alone." 00:09:16.28\00:09:18.45 So, God made woman. 00:09:18.49\00:09:21.19 All right, so here's the question. 00:09:21.22\00:09:22.52 Do we still need women? 00:09:22.56\00:09:24.79 Then do we maybe still need a day of rest? 00:09:24.83\00:09:27.50 We need what God made for us in the garden. 00:09:27.50\00:09:30.10 And the Sabbath goes all the way back to the beginning. 00:09:30.13\00:09:33.60 Also, and here's a passage you find in Isaiah 56:6 to make it 00:09:33.64\00:09:37.01 clear Sabbath is not just for Jews. 00:09:37.04\00:09:39.47 "Also the sons of the foreigner who join themselves to the Lord, 00:09:39.51\00:09:43.55 to serve Him, and to love the name of the Lord. 00:09:43.58\00:09:46.61 To be His servants--everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath, 00:09:46.65\00:09:50.95 and holds fast My covenant--Even them I will bring to My holy 00:09:50.99\00:09:55.29 mountain, and make them joyful in My house of prayer." 00:09:55.32\00:09:59.96 Jew, Gentile, those who'd come and worship God on the Sabbath 00:10:00.00\00:10:03.40 Day, what does He say He's going to do? 00:10:03.43\00:10:04.73 "I'm going to make them miserable"? 00:10:04.77\00:10:06.63 "Joyful in My house of prayer." 00:10:06.67\00:10:10.44 Now, did God curse the seventh day or did He bless it? 00:10:10.47\00:10:14.38 He blessed it. 00:10:14.41\00:10:15.71 God wants you to have a blessing. 00:10:15.74\00:10:18.25 And so many people are missing that blessing. 00:10:18.28\00:10:20.38 They're working themselves to death. 00:10:20.42\00:10:21.98 The Pharaoh's got them making bricks without straw, 00:10:22.02\00:10:24.22 and they wonder why they have no peace. 00:10:24.25\00:10:26.82 As I mentioned, we are a society that is literally dying from 00:10:26.86\00:10:31.86 stress and too much work, heart disease, and cancer, and all 00:10:31.89\00:10:36.93 these things are affected by stress. 00:10:36.97\00:10:38.93 All these different drugs for antacid--the counselors 00:10:38.97\00:10:42.74 in North America are counseling people 00:10:42.77\00:10:45.01 and medicating people for anxiety. 00:10:45.04\00:10:47.71 So much of that--maybe not all--but so much of that could 00:10:47.74\00:10:50.11 be improved if people would do what God said. 00:10:50.15\00:10:53.42 Take one day, put everything aside, spend time with God, 00:10:53.45\00:10:56.52 spend time fellowshipping with other believers, be rejuvenated. 00:10:56.55\00:11:00.89 And this has largely been lost by Christian churches. 00:11:00.92\00:11:03.83 He makes them joyful. 00:11:03.86\00:11:05.16 Second question, "When did God establish the Sabbath day?" 00:11:05.19\00:11:10.00 Some think that it was established at Mount Sinai. 00:11:10.03\00:11:12.70 It's just for the Jews. 00:11:12.73\00:11:14.17 The Bible says thus--this is Genesis 2. 00:11:14.20\00:11:16.71 "Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the 00:11:16.74\00:11:18.67 host of them, were finished, and God blessed the 00:11:18.71\00:11:22.01 seventh day, and He sanctified it." 00:11:22.04\00:11:24.18 That means He made it holy. 00:11:24.21\00:11:25.68 "Because in it He, God, rested from all His 00:11:25.71\00:11:28.92 work which God created and made." 00:11:28.95\00:11:30.85 And since man was made in God's image, if God said, "Look, I've 00:11:30.89\00:11:33.99 rested on this day, I want you to enjoy 00:11:34.02\00:11:36.19 that rest," think about it for a minute. 00:11:36.22\00:11:39.33 How many days did God need to create the world? 00:11:39.36\00:11:42.46 Six days. 00:11:42.50\00:11:43.80 How many days in a week? Seven. 00:11:43.83\00:11:46.27 Why is there an additional day if God didn't create anything? 00:11:46.30\00:11:50.81 He made a day for us to rest. 00:11:50.84\00:11:54.24 All love relationships require time. 00:11:54.28\00:11:58.55 Time is the stuff that life is made of, 00:11:58.58\00:12:01.02 and it's not just time, it's quality time. 00:12:01.05\00:12:03.79 Sometimes Karen will say, "Doug, 00:12:03.82\00:12:05.92 we haven't done anything together. 00:12:05.95\00:12:07.46 We need to spend some time together." 00:12:07.49\00:12:08.79 I said, "Well, I was at home all last week." 00:12:08.82\00:12:10.83 "Yeah, you were in the office working." 00:12:10.86\00:12:13.63 I said, "Well, I was there." 00:12:13.66\00:12:14.93 She said, "Well, that's not quality time." 00:12:14.96\00:12:16.80 Any of you have these conversations? 00:12:16.83\00:12:19.30 Said, "We need time to bond." 00:12:19.33\00:12:21.34 So, before the meeting tonight, I said, 00:12:21.37\00:12:22.67 "Karen, let's go for a walk." 00:12:22.70\00:12:24.17 It's a little different when you walk around the block just 00:12:24.21\00:12:26.11 together, listening to each other, holding hands, it's 00:12:26.14\00:12:28.71 different than me in the house and she in the house, 00:12:28.74\00:12:30.71 and we're all doing our own thing. 00:12:30.75\00:12:32.81 God says, "Look, I want you to have quality time with me." 00:12:32.85\00:12:36.45 Some people say, "Well, I worship God seven days a week. 00:12:36.48\00:12:39.29 I don't need the Sabbath." 00:12:39.32\00:12:40.72 Well, it's not just about worshiping God. 00:12:40.76\00:12:42.06 It's a day of rest, and if you rest seven days 00:12:42.09\00:12:43.96 a week, you're not holy, you're lazy, right? 00:12:43.99\00:12:46.86 So, God is talking about, you know, physical rest, as well as 00:12:46.90\00:12:50.33 we should worship Him seven days a week, amen? 00:12:50.37\00:12:53.13 Live in an attitude of worship. 00:12:53.17\00:12:55.74 Revelation chapter 14, why is this important 00:12:55.77\00:12:57.97 in a Bible prophecy seminar? 00:12:58.01\00:12:59.54 And I want you to look at verses 6 and 7 in Revelation 14. 00:12:59.57\00:13:03.28 It says, "I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, 00:13:03.31\00:13:06.78 Having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the 00:13:06.82\00:13:10.19 earth--to every nation, Tribe, and tongue of people--saying 00:13:10.22\00:13:14.32 with a loud voice, 'Fear God and give glory to Him, 00:13:14.36\00:13:18.09 For the hour of His judgment is come.'" 00:13:18.13\00:13:20.96 Now listen to what the angel says, 00:13:21.00\00:13:22.96 "And worship Him who made the heaven and the earth, 00:13:23.00\00:13:27.47 and the sea, and the springs of water." 00:13:27.50\00:13:30.21 When you look at the fourth command, it says, "For in six 00:13:30.24\00:13:32.64 days the Lord made the heaven, and the earth, and the sea," the 00:13:32.67\00:13:38.08 Bible is talking about returning to the God who created us. 00:13:38.11\00:13:41.72 Do you know what happens next in Revelation 14? 00:13:41.75\00:13:44.25 "I looked and upon a cloud I saw one sat like the 00:13:44.29\00:13:46.99 Son of Man, having a sickle in His hand." 00:13:47.02\00:13:49.06 Jesus comes. 00:13:49.09\00:13:50.79 You see, the Lord is going to restore truth 00:13:50.83\00:13:52.63 to His church before He returns. 00:13:52.66\00:13:54.93 These truths have been lost through the dark 00:13:54.96\00:13:56.77 ages--everything from the problems with idolatry and 00:13:56.80\00:14:00.14 adultery and the Sabbath truth--God wants to restore 00:14:00.17\00:14:03.30 us to biblical Christianity before He comes back. 00:14:03.34\00:14:05.97 Does that make sense? 00:14:06.01\00:14:07.34 Doug: Don't go anywhere, friends. 00:14:08.51\00:14:09.81 In just a moment, we'll return for 00:14:09.84\00:14:11.28 the rest of today's presentation. 00:14:11.31\00:14:13.82 Have you ever forgotten your wedding anniversary? 00:14:13.85\00:14:16.52 Ouch. Or some other special occasion? 00:14:16.55\00:14:19.22 Well, you know, it can feel a little 00:14:19.25\00:14:20.56 embarrassing when friends forget your birthday. 00:14:20.59\00:14:23.59 So, what if I told you there is a special day for God that 00:14:23.63\00:14:27.50 nearly the entire world has forgotten? 00:14:27.50\00:14:29.96 In fact, it's one of the most significant days in human 00:14:30.00\00:14:33.47 history, and forgetting it can profoundly affect your life. 00:14:33.50\00:14:37.84 Wouldn't you want to know more about this day? 00:14:37.87\00:14:40.28 That's why I'd like to encourage you to request this 00:14:40.31\00:14:42.91 eye-opening study guide from Amazing Facts, 00:14:42.94\00:14:45.95 called, "The Lost Day of History." 00:14:45.98\00:14:48.78 You'll be amazed why this incredible truth has been hidden 00:14:48.82\00:14:51.72 from you all this time and what it means for you and your family 00:14:51.75\00:14:55.32 when you finally start remembering it. 00:14:55.36\00:14:57.33 To get your free copy, call the number on your screen and ask 00:14:57.36\00:15:00.73 for Offer 113, or visit the web address. 00:15:00.76\00:15:04.43 And after you read this incredible resource, 00:15:04.47\00:15:06.74 make sure and share it with a friend. 00:15:06.77\00:15:08.70 Well, let's get back to the rest of today's presentation and 00:15:08.74\00:15:11.51 learn some more amazing facts from the Word of God. 00:15:11.54\00:15:14.08 Doug: You know, it was never God's plan that the Christian 00:15:15.58\00:15:18.98 church should be so fragmented into so many different parts. 00:15:19.01\00:15:24.15 Jesus said, "All men will know you're My 00:15:24.19\00:15:25.95 disciples by your love for one another." 00:15:25.99\00:15:27.86 And the devil heard that, and he thought, "Well, if 00:15:27.89\00:15:29.19 everybody knows they're believers because of their love, 00:15:29.22\00:15:31.59 I'm going to get them to be divided. 00:15:31.63\00:15:33.33 I'm going to fragment the Christian church 00:15:33.36\00:15:35.13 like nothing you've ever seen before." 00:15:35.16\00:15:38.13 And in the last days before Jesus comes, there's going to be 00:15:38.17\00:15:40.80 a movement and a message, angels in heaven that are going to be 00:15:40.84\00:15:44.81 proclaiming the truth that the apostles have. 00:15:44.84\00:15:48.94 The Bible said when the Holy Spirit was poured out on the 00:15:48.98\00:15:50.81 apostles, they were in one place and of one accord. 00:15:50.85\00:15:54.08 That doesn't mean one Honda. 00:15:54.12\00:15:55.52 That means they were all together. 00:15:55.55\00:15:57.85 And there's going to be a unity, and God's people are going to 00:15:57.89\00:16:00.16 come back together based on truth in the last days, and He 00:16:00.19\00:16:03.19 will baptize us again with the Holy Spirit to take this message 00:16:03.22\00:16:06.19 to the world, but that means people need to stop following 00:16:06.23\00:16:09.06 the crowd and start following the Lord and the Word, amen? 00:16:09.10\00:16:12.67 There's been a lot of compromise that's happened over the ages 00:16:12.70\00:16:15.97 away from Christianity, and it is a bad witness to the world. 00:16:16.00\00:16:20.21 So, of what two precious things does 00:16:20.24\00:16:22.38 God say the Sabbath is a sign? 00:16:22.41\00:16:25.38 You can read in Exodus chapter 31, verse 17, "The Sabbath is a 00:16:25.41\00:16:31.65 sign between Me and the children of Israel forever: for in six 00:16:31.69\00:16:35.26 days the Lord made the heavens and the earth," 00:16:35.29\00:16:38.16 because we are to respect Him as the Creator. 00:16:38.19\00:16:40.96 Now, some of you are thinking, "Well, Pastor Doug, that's just 00:16:40.96\00:16:43.00 a sign between the Lord and the children of Israel." 00:16:43.03\00:16:46.07 Well, we already talked about this. 00:16:46.10\00:16:48.07 The new covenant is made with the children of Israel. 00:16:48.10\00:16:50.84 No new covenant is made with Gentiles. 00:16:50.87\00:16:53.34 All Gentiles who are saved become 00:16:53.38\00:16:55.64 children of Abraham by faith. 00:16:55.68\00:16:57.78 Paul's very clear on that, that we are grafted in. 00:16:57.81\00:17:00.82 And so, if we're going to partake of the promises, 00:17:00.85\00:17:02.95 we also partake of the blessings, and 00:17:02.98\00:17:05.15 the Sabbath is one of those blessings. 00:17:05.19\00:17:07.89 Did He just create the world for Jews, 00:17:07.92\00:17:09.59 or did He make it for Adam and Eve? 00:17:09.62\00:17:12.26 How many of you related to Adam and Eve? 00:17:12.29\00:17:14.83 Test. Some of you, aliens I guess, no? 00:17:14.83\00:17:20.74 What about, how many related to Noah? 00:17:20.77\00:17:24.47 Just checking, yeah. 00:17:24.51\00:17:26.17 Some of you, yeah, you're all related to both. 00:17:26.21\00:17:30.01 And you know what? 00:17:30.05\00:17:31.35 The Sabbath was given to man back at the beginning. 00:17:31.38\00:17:33.72 It's for the human race. 00:17:33.75\00:17:35.95 Also, it tells us in Ezekiel 20, verse 12, "Moreover I gave them 00:17:35.98\00:17:40.36 My Sabbaths to be a sign between Me and them, that they might 00:17:40.39\00:17:43.69 know that I am the Lord who sanctifies them." 00:17:43.73\00:17:47.46 So, the Sabbath is a sign of God as Creator. 00:17:47.50\00:17:50.37 How many of you need God to recreate you? 00:17:50.40\00:17:53.00 "Create in me, O Lord, a new heart." 00:17:53.03\00:17:54.94 And how many of you believe that we need God as a sanctifier? 00:17:54.97\00:17:57.47 That means He makes us holy and purifies us. 00:17:57.51\00:17:59.87 Every Sabbath reminds us He made the day holy, 00:17:59.91\00:18:02.71 and the day is a memorial of His creation. 00:18:02.74\00:18:04.41 Every Sabbath, we remember that He is a Creator. 00:18:04.45\00:18:07.05 Are we having problems in our culture today 00:18:07.08\00:18:08.68 with people doubting God's creation? 00:18:08.72\00:18:11.55 You wonder if the problem would be so bad--you know, one of the 00:18:11.59\00:18:13.79 main reasons that young people commit suicide, highest group 00:18:13.82\00:18:16.89 that commits suicide is in the teenage years--they're being 00:18:16.93\00:18:19.73 taught that there is no purpose to their life, that they have 00:18:19.76\00:18:23.23 just evolved from some lower amoeba, 00:18:23.26\00:18:25.70 and they're going to die and turn back into dirt. 00:18:25.73\00:18:27.84 And they figure, "Why not get it over with?" 00:18:27.87\00:18:29.34 I know, I was one of them. 00:18:29.37\00:18:31.67 But when you teach them that "God has a plan for your life, 00:18:31.71\00:18:33.98 that you are made in the image of God, and that 00:18:34.01\00:18:35.44 you have an eternity to win or to lose," 00:18:35.48\00:18:39.11 that changes their whole world view. 00:18:39.15\00:18:41.45 Every Sabbath, we remember those priorities. 00:18:41.48\00:18:44.15 This is important, and I think the world 00:18:44.19\00:18:46.09 has suffered terribly because we forgot. 00:18:46.12\00:18:49.09 When does the Sabbath actually begin and end? 00:18:49.12\00:18:51.99 Now, the Romans--you know, in our day, we set our clocks 00:18:52.03\00:18:54.96 forward and backwards at midnight or 2 in the morning. 00:18:55.00\00:19:00.87 Bible times, the days began and ended at sundown. 00:19:00.90\00:19:05.37 I have some verses that illustrate that. 00:19:05.41\00:19:07.84 "From evening unto evening, you will celebrate your Sabbaths." 00:19:07.88\00:19:12.35 That's Leviticus 23:32. 00:19:12.38\00:19:14.58 And in the New Testament, Mark 1:32, "And at evening, when the 00:19:14.62\00:19:17.99 sun had set," people were waiting for the sundown. 00:19:18.02\00:19:20.49 When the sun set, then they brought all their sick to Jesus 00:19:20.52\00:19:23.02 because they were afraid of the Pharisees would not approve of 00:19:23.06\00:19:25.33 Jesus healing on the Sabbath day. 00:19:25.36\00:19:27.50 You can see it all the way from cover to cover in the Bible. 00:19:27.50\00:19:29.93 The days begin and end--how many of you already knew that, 00:19:29.96\00:19:33.00 you know, the Jewish people, they, sundown, 00:19:33.03\00:19:34.90 they began to celebrate the coming of the Sabbath? 00:19:34.94\00:19:37.11 That's biblically accurate. 00:19:37.14\00:19:39.17 By the way, something just popped in my mind. 00:19:39.21\00:19:41.08 Another little amazing fact about stress. 00:19:41.11\00:19:43.68 Do you know whenever they have daylight savings 00:19:43.71\00:19:45.55 time--especially the one where you lose an hour of sleep--that 00:19:45.58\00:19:50.72 the accident rate and the death rate goes up, accidents on the 00:19:50.75\00:19:54.42 job and in cars, because people are tired? 00:19:54.46\00:19:57.66 They have more accidents. 00:19:57.69\00:19:59.66 The Sabbath literally, resting appropriately 00:19:59.69\00:20:01.83 literally can save your lives. 00:20:01.86\00:20:04.73 Will all the saved keep the Sabbath in heaven? 00:20:04.77\00:20:08.20 Let's find out. 00:20:08.24\00:20:09.54 I want to be in that kingdom, don't you? 00:20:09.57\00:20:11.51 "'For as the new heavens and the new earth which I will make will 00:20:11.54\00:20:14.61 remain before Me,' says the Lord, 'So shall your descendants 00:20:14.64\00:20:17.88 and your name remain.' 00:20:17.91\00:20:19.35 And it will come to pass that from one 00:20:19.38\00:20:21.12 new moon to another," that means from month to month, 00:20:21.15\00:20:23.28 "and from one Sabbath to another," shall all Jews 00:20:23.32\00:20:26.65 come and worship before Me, says the Lord. 00:20:26.69\00:20:30.16 Is that what it said? I've got it on the screen. 00:20:30.19\00:20:33.36 Some of you who are listening may not know. 00:20:33.40\00:20:34.93 Some people are listening in on radio. 00:20:34.96\00:20:36.26 They can't see the screen. I just misquoted on purpose. 00:20:36.30\00:20:40.07 It doesn't say all Jews. It says all flesh. 00:20:40.10\00:20:43.30 So, in heaven we're going to keep it. 00:20:43.34\00:20:46.04 Now, you just think about that, friends. 00:20:46.07\00:20:47.38 That means, you know--we know Adam and Eve 00:20:47.41\00:20:50.51 kept it in the garden of Eden. 00:20:50.55\00:20:51.78 God blessed it back there in the beginning, chapter 2 of Genesis. 00:20:51.81\00:20:56.38 We know that Moses and the children of Israel 00:20:56.42\00:20:58.52 kept it there in the Old Testament. 00:20:58.55\00:20:59.95 We just showed you where the apostles and 00:21:00.06\00:21:02.76 Jesus kept it in the New Testament. 00:21:02.79\00:21:04.86 And now we've just shown you where we're 00:21:04.89\00:21:06.33 going to be keeping the Sabbath day in heaven. 00:21:06.36\00:21:08.16 Does it stand to reason that it's part of His 00:21:08.20\00:21:10.33 perfect plan that should be always kept? 00:21:10.37\00:21:13.97 Which day did Jesus keep holy? The Bible is very clear. 00:21:14.00\00:21:18.67 You can read there in Luke chapter 4, verse 16, "So, He," 00:21:18.71\00:21:21.78 Jesus, "came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. 00:21:21.81\00:21:24.98 And as His custom was," what's a custom? 00:21:25.01\00:21:28.78 Something you do once? It means your pattern. 00:21:28.82\00:21:31.99 "As His custom was. 00:21:32.02\00:21:33.32 He went into the synagogue," that was the word for church, 00:21:33.36\00:21:36.12 "on the Sabbath day, and He stood up to read." 00:21:36.16\00:21:38.39 Jesus went to church, and He sang and read the 00:21:38.43\00:21:40.33 Bible every week from the time He was born. 00:21:40.36\00:21:44.50 And you also read about this in Mark--all through His ministry. 00:21:44.53\00:21:47.77 Now, some of you are going to say, "Well, Pastor Doug, didn't 00:21:47.80\00:21:49.47 Jesus have a lot of arguments with the scribes 00:21:49.50\00:21:51.81 and the Pharisees about the Sabbath day?" 00:21:51.84\00:21:53.78 Yeah, quite a few. 00:21:53.81\00:21:55.21 But in every argument, they never 00:21:55.24\00:21:57.11 argued about whether it should be kept. 00:21:57.15\00:22:00.42 The arguments were only about how it should be kept. 00:22:00.45\00:22:06.22 They always agreed it should be kept, 00:22:06.25\00:22:08.32 the Sabbath should be kept. 00:22:08.36\00:22:09.76 But they had put a bunch of manmade laws on the Sabbath, and 00:22:09.79\00:22:12.53 Jesus said, "It's okay to do good on the Sabbath day. 00:22:12.56\00:22:16.06 If your ox falls in the ditch, you 00:22:16.10\00:22:17.77 can take it out on the Sabbath day. 00:22:17.80\00:22:19.37 If someone was sick, you can heal them." 00:22:19.40\00:22:21.24 Jesus said--He healed several people on the Sabbath day, and 00:22:21.27\00:22:23.94 that made some of the religious leaders very angry. 00:22:23.97\00:22:27.18 Jesus said, "You know, there's nothing 00:22:27.21\00:22:28.74 out of harmony with this." 00:22:28.78\00:22:30.08 But you never see Jesus in the carpenter 00:22:30.11\00:22:31.85 shop on the Sabbath day, do you? 00:22:31.88\00:22:34.72 So, we're supposed to cease from our work. 00:22:34.75\00:22:37.25 We gather together, we worship God. 00:22:37.29\00:22:38.65 By the way, do you know the Sabbath 00:22:38.69\00:22:40.02 is called a holy convocation? 00:22:40.06\00:22:43.46 And that means a convening. 00:22:43.49\00:22:45.06 God has a time for His people to come together. 00:22:45.09\00:22:47.30 Don't we need to--especially after 00:22:47.30\00:22:48.96 COVID and all the isolation. 00:22:49.00\00:22:51.17 I think people are really feeling it 00:22:51.20\00:22:53.13 that we've not been able to assemble. 00:22:53.17\00:22:54.74 Something happens when you get together with people. 00:22:54.77\00:22:56.94 And I know that God's got His spiritual church scattered 00:22:56.97\00:22:59.54 everywhere, and you can Zoom a worship service. 00:22:59.57\00:23:02.38 We're streaming this now on the Internet. 00:23:02.41\00:23:05.08 But you need to get together with fellow believers. 00:23:05.11\00:23:07.18 Hebrews chapter 10, "Let us not forsake the assembling of 00:23:07.22\00:23:10.35 ourselves together, as the manner of some is." 00:23:10.39\00:23:13.89 If there's an epidemic, pause or do it safely. 00:23:13.92\00:23:18.33 I'm not--you know, I understand that. 00:23:18.36\00:23:21.13 But let's not forsake it. 00:23:21.16\00:23:23.23 Had a lot of pastors who are struggling now, because as 00:23:23.26\00:23:25.53 they're dealing with the epidemic and things are 00:23:25.57\00:23:28.90 improving, people aren't coming back. 00:23:28.94\00:23:32.14 And sometimes we get, you know, we get bad habits of kind of 00:23:32.17\00:23:34.78 sitting on the sofa, don't have to dress up. 00:23:34.81\00:23:37.75 "I'm going to go to church in my underwear." 00:23:37.78\00:23:39.98 And the Bible calls it a holy convocation, Leviticus 23. 00:23:40.02\00:23:47.09 Jesus was there every week. 00:23:47.12\00:23:49.26 Number 7, what was Paul's custom regarding the Sabbath? 00:23:49.29\00:23:51.96 So, it's not only Christ. Now let's look at the apostles. 00:23:51.99\00:23:54.76 The Bible says in Acts chapter 17, verse 2, "Then Paul, as his 00:23:54.83\00:23:59.13 custom was, he went to them, and for three Sabbath days he 00:23:59.17\00:24:03.07 reasoned from them, to them from the scriptures." 00:24:03.10\00:24:06.27 So, Paul, wherever he went, one of the first things he 00:24:06.31\00:24:08.21 did is he would reason with--he'd go to the 00:24:08.24\00:24:10.85 synagogues, and he'd reason with the Jews. 00:24:10.88\00:24:13.08 And even when the Jews didn't listen, then he would go, and 00:24:13.11\00:24:16.22 he'd reason with the Gentiles on the Sabbath day. 00:24:16.25\00:24:19.02 Look at Acts chapter 18, verse 4. 00:24:19.05\00:24:21.36 "And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath day, 00:24:21.39\00:24:24.59 and he persuaded both Jews and Greeks." 00:24:24.63\00:24:28.83 The word Greek there is Gentiles. 00:24:28.86\00:24:31.37 What blessing is promised by the Sabbath commandment? 00:24:31.40\00:24:34.97 What are some of the blessings that God is offering you and me? 00:24:35.00\00:24:39.21 Matthew 11, this is the great invitation. 00:24:39.24\00:24:41.98 Jesus said, "Come to Me, all you who labor and you are heavy 00:24:42.01\00:24:47.08 laden, and I will give you rest." 00:24:47.12\00:24:49.88 God wants you to have that peace and that rest, friends. 00:24:49.92\00:24:52.32 Do you want that? He says, "Come to Me." 00:24:52.35\00:24:55.06 You can also read in Exodus 33, verse 14, He says, "My presence 00:24:55.09\00:24:58.86 will go with you, and I will give you rest." 00:24:58.89\00:25:02.90 And then Hebrews chapter 4, verse 5, the promise is, 00:25:02.93\00:25:07.04 "And they will enter into My rest." 00:25:07.07\00:25:09.17 God wants you to have that blessed rest, and He 00:25:09.20\00:25:13.11 wants you to have that experience every week 00:25:13.14\00:25:15.31 with Him, that quality time with Him. 00:25:15.34\00:25:17.51 A lot of people say, "Oh, yeah, Lord, 00:25:17.55\00:25:18.85 I love you, I want to serve you. 00:25:18.88\00:25:20.18 I'll even give my money, but don't ask for my time." 00:25:20.22\00:25:22.88 And some of you are thinking, "Pastor 00:25:22.92\00:25:24.22 Doug, this is mind blowing." 00:25:24.25\00:25:26.35 I know you know it's biblical. 00:25:26.39\00:25:28.89 And the question is what do you do now? 00:25:28.92\00:25:32.03 Friends, God brought you to hear these things, or you who are 00:25:32.06\00:25:34.03 watching this, because He wants you to be blessed. 00:25:34.10\00:25:36.70 Let me give you one more thought before I wrap this up. 00:25:36.73\00:25:40.34 If I was to say, "Where in the world is the holy land?" 00:25:40.37\00:25:42.94 what would you say? 00:25:42.97\00:25:44.97 Israel, that's right, it is. 00:25:45.01\00:25:46.71 And where in Israel is the holy city? 00:25:46.74\00:25:50.75 Jerusalem. 00:25:50.78\00:25:52.08 And in the holy city there's something called the 00:25:52.11\00:25:53.58 holy mount, Mount Zion or Mount Moriah. 00:25:53.62\00:25:58.52 And on the holy mount was a holy temple. 00:25:58.55\00:26:01.76 And in the holy temple, they had the holy place. 00:26:01.79\00:26:04.86 And inside the holy place they had the 00:26:04.89\00:26:06.49 holy of holies or the inner sanctum. 00:26:06.53\00:26:08.90 And there was only one thing that was in the holy place. 00:26:08.93\00:26:12.07 And this is what made everything in the world holy. 00:26:12.10\00:26:14.64 There's the law of God, the holy ark of the covenant. 00:26:14.67\00:26:17.27 And in the law of God, you find the word "holy" one time. 00:26:17.31\00:26:21.08 It's in the fourth commandment. 00:26:21.11\00:26:23.75 God has put something in there, and He wants us to--see, 00:26:23.78\00:26:27.55 life is made of time, and every Sabbath 00:26:27.58\00:26:29.98 God wants us to give Him our time. 00:26:30.02\00:26:32.52 And He says, "You do that, I'm going to give you eternity. 00:26:32.55\00:26:34.49 Can you give Me one day a week?" 00:26:34.52\00:26:36.19 That sound like a fair trade? And we need it. 00:26:36.22\00:26:39.66 Anything God asks for us is 00:26:39.69\00:26:41.06 because He wants us to be blessed. 00:26:41.10\00:26:42.40 Friends, I pray that you'll be praying about this. 00:26:42.43\00:26:45.20 Jesus said, "If you love Me, keep My commandments." 00:26:45.23\00:26:48.20 ¤¤¤ 00:26:48.24\00:26:52.77 announcer: Don't forget to request today's 00:26:52.81\00:26:54.14 life-changing free resource. 00:26:54.18\00:26:56.34 Not only can you receive this free gift in the mail, 00:26:56.38\00:26:58.35 you can download a digital copy straight 00:26:58.38\00:27:00.25 to your computer or mobile device. 00:27:00.28\00:27:02.42 To get your digital copy of today's free gift, simply text 00:27:02.45\00:27:05.75 the key word on your screen to 40544 or visit the web address 00:27:05.79\00:27:10.66 shown on your screen, and be sure to select the digital 00:27:10.69\00:27:13.56 download option on the request page. 00:27:13.60\00:27:15.70 It's now easier than ever for you to study God's Word with 00:27:15.73\00:27:19.00 Amazing Facts, wherever and whenever you want, and most 00:27:19.03\00:27:22.67 important to share it with others. 00:27:22.70\00:27:25.41 announcer: In six days, God 00:27:26.74\00:27:28.28 created the heavens and the earth. 00:27:28.31\00:27:30.98 For thousands of years, man has worshiped 00:27:31.01\00:27:33.28 God on the seventh day of the week. 00:27:33.31\00:27:35.78 Now, each week millions of people worship on the first day. 00:27:35.82\00:27:40.12 What happened? 00:27:40.16\00:27:41.46 Why did God create a day of rest? 00:27:41.49\00:27:43.89 Does it really matter what day we worship? 00:27:43.93\00:27:46.53 Who was behind this great shift? 00:27:46.56\00:27:48.53 Discover the truth behind God's law and how it was changed. 00:27:48.56\00:27:52.23 Visit SabbathTruth.com. 00:27:52.27\00:27:55.14 ¤¤¤ 00:27:55.17\00:28:01.81 announcer: Don't forget to request today's free offer. 00:28:01.84\00:28:03.81 It's sure to be a blessing. 00:28:03.85\00:28:05.65 And thank you for your continued support, as we take 00:28:05.68\00:28:08.18 the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. 00:28:08.22\00:28:10.95 We hope you'll join us next week, as we delve deep into the 00:28:10.99\00:28:14.02 Word of God to explore more amazing facts. 00:28:14.06\00:28:18.03 ¤¤¤ 00:28:18.06\00:28:24.17 announcer: This presentation was brought to you by the 00:28:24.20\00:28:26.03 friends of the Amazing Facts Ministry. 00:28:26.07\00:28:29.07
