male announcer: This presentation is brought to you 00:00:02.16\00:00:03.47 by the friends of the Amazing Facts Ministry. 00:00:03.50\00:00:06.53 Doug Batchelor: Can you imagine stepping into the line 00:00:08.90\00:00:10.84 of fire on a battlefield to save your enemy? 00:00:10.87\00:00:14.78 On November 12, 1944, German Lieutenant Friedrich Lengfeld 00:00:14.81\00:00:19.85 heard the desperate cries of a wounded American soldier who had 00:00:19.88\00:00:23.15 been shot down in the midst of a German minefield. 00:00:23.18\00:00:27.06 He ordered his men not to fire upon any rescuers, 00:00:27.09\00:00:30.86 but as time slipped by, no Allied medics 00:00:30.89\00:00:33.16 came to the aid of the injured man. 00:00:33.19\00:00:35.73 That's when Lengfeld decided to help the enemy soldier himself. 00:00:35.76\00:00:39.93 After organizing a rescue squad, he stepped out into the danger 00:00:39.97\00:00:44.44 to assist his enemy, but he never got very far. 00:00:44.47\00:00:48.04 He was injured by an exploding mine 00:00:48.08\00:00:50.48 and died several hours later. 00:00:50.51\00:00:52.81 In 1994, a group of American veterans erected 00:00:52.85\00:00:56.08 a memorial to honor his act of self-sacrifice. 00:00:56.12\00:00:59.52 It's always moving when we hear about people who 00:00:59.55\00:01:02.36 risked their lives to help a stranger in need. 00:01:02.39\00:01:05.76 But, you know, Jesus risked much more to save his enemies when he 00:01:05.79\00:01:09.70 came to this world, even knowing that he'd be hated, rejected, 00:01:09.73\00:01:14.07 and persecuted, and ultimately killed, did not hinder him. 00:01:14.10\00:01:18.21 Why? What was the motivation? 00:01:18.24\00:01:20.98 Join me now as we take a deeper look 00:01:21.01\00:01:23.35 at this transformational subject. 00:01:23.38\00:01:25.51 Doug: Tonight's presentation is among the most important, and 00:01:29.82\00:01:33.42 it's dealing with the subject of The Supreme Sacrifice. 00:01:33.46\00:01:38.19 You know, this is what we're going to do 00:01:38.23\00:01:39.53 tonight is we're going to spend some time beholding 00:01:39.56\00:01:41.23 the Lamb, and it is a prophetic theme. 00:01:41.26\00:01:43.97 Now, some people come to a seminar like this and say, 00:01:44.00\00:01:45.80 "Pastor Doug, I didn't come to talk about Jesus and salvation. 00:01:45.83\00:01:49.64 I want to understand prophecy. 00:01:49.67\00:01:51.64 I want to know about the beast and the 00:01:51.67\00:01:53.58 Antichrist and Armageddon and 666. 00:01:53.61\00:01:56.88 Let's study those things." 00:01:56.91\00:01:59.21 Well, you know, this is the theme of prophecy. 00:01:59.25\00:02:02.75 If you look in Revelation chapter 5, it talks about a Lamb 00:02:02.78\00:02:06.55 that had been slain that's in the midst of the throne. 00:02:06.59\00:02:10.06 And throughout the book of Revelation, Jesus is referred to 00:02:10.09\00:02:12.73 the Lamb and unless we know who that Lamb is, 00:02:12.76\00:02:16.03 you know, we are going to miss out on everything. 00:02:16.06\00:02:18.50 The purpose of all Bible prophecy is redemptive. 00:02:18.53\00:02:22.57 The purpose of all Bible prophecy is redemptive. 00:02:23.41\00:02:27.04 God's prophecies are not just to entertain 00:02:27.08\00:02:29.54 us that He can foretell the future. 00:02:29.58\00:02:31.35 The reason He has these prophecies 00:02:31.38\00:02:33.28 is so that we can be saved. 00:02:33.31\00:02:35.42 What good is it to you if you understand what the beast is and 00:02:35.45\00:02:39.29 666 and the Antichrist and mark of the beast, and you even know 00:02:39.32\00:02:42.66 the date and the hour of Christ's coming, 00:02:42.69\00:02:45.19 if you're not saved, what good does that do you? 00:02:45.23\00:02:47.73 What good is it if you gain the whole world and lose your soul? 00:02:47.76\00:02:51.90 You might think, "Well, I just, you know, 00:02:51.93\00:02:53.23 I want this knowledge." 00:02:53.27\00:02:54.57 Well, the devil knows more than anybody 00:02:54.60\00:02:55.90 here, it's not going to save him. 00:02:55.94\00:02:58.11 What you ultimately need to know 00:02:58.14\00:02:59.71 is Jesus, a relationship with Him. 00:02:59.74\00:03:02.54 All the prophecies are pointing towards that. 00:03:02.58\00:03:04.95 So, we're not really being honest or fair with you if we're 00:03:04.98\00:03:07.88 just teaching Bible trivia and prophecy trivia, and we're not 00:03:07.92\00:03:12.92 talking about the central theme of prophecy, which is Christ. 00:03:12.95\00:03:16.52 Now, when you open the book of Revelation, who knows 00:03:16.56\00:03:18.36 what the first line in Revelation says? 00:03:18.39\00:03:21.83 The revelation of the Antichrist? 00:03:21.86\00:03:25.07 The revelation of the beast? The revelation of Armageddon? 00:03:25.10\00:03:29.30 Millennium? Secret rapture to witnesses? 00:03:29.34\00:03:32.57 They're all in the book, but 00:03:32.61\00:03:33.91 that's not what it's talking about. 00:03:33.94\00:03:35.94 It's the revelation of Jesus Christ. 00:03:35.98\00:03:38.51 And in the first chapter, Jesus appears, 00:03:38.55\00:03:41.62 and He's being revealed in these prophecies. 00:03:41.65\00:03:44.32 So tonight, we're going to be talking about what the 00:03:44.35\00:03:46.86 prophecies have to say about Jesus. 00:03:46.89\00:03:49.72 Is Jesus the only way to be saved 00:03:49.76\00:03:51.59 and importance of eternal life? 00:03:51.63\00:03:53.96 And what is salvation? First question. 00:03:54.00\00:03:56.87 "Why was it necessary for Jesus to die?" 00:03:56.90\00:04:00.50 You read in Romans chapter 3, verse 23, 00:04:00.54\00:04:03.51 "For all have sinned," everybody's sinned. 00:04:03.54\00:04:08.41 See, sin is deadly and it's contagious. 00:04:08.44\00:04:11.95 In fact, this planet has been pretty much quarantined 00:04:11.98\00:04:15.05 from the rest of the cosmos, the universe, 00:04:15.08\00:04:17.85 because we've got a deadly disease. 00:04:17.89\00:04:20.49 You can just see that sin hurts. 00:04:20.52\00:04:22.79 Sin hurts you, sin hurts your neighbor, sin hurts God, and sin 00:04:22.82\00:04:28.70 is selfishness, and it just basically self-destructs. 00:04:28.73\00:04:33.27 And the end result of sin is death. 00:04:33.30\00:04:35.14 The penalty for sin is death. 00:04:35.17\00:04:36.71 You might be thinking, "Well, then why aren't we 00:04:36.74\00:04:38.64 dead yet, since we've all sinned?" 00:04:38.67\00:04:41.48 Because through the sacrifice of Jesus, He not only bought the 00:04:41.51\00:04:45.38 opportunity for people to find everlasting life, but every 00:04:45.41\00:04:48.55 person has been provided with probationary time. 00:04:48.58\00:04:53.76 The Lord has bought us an extension 00:04:53.79\00:04:56.56 to make a different choice. 00:04:56.59\00:04:58.33 He's bought us probationary time to say, 00:04:58.36\00:05:01.00 "I don't want to live for myself. 00:05:01.03\00:05:02.76 I want to live for God." Penalty for sin is death. 00:05:02.80\00:05:06.43 You can see here also in Hebrews chapter 9, verse 22, "Without 00:05:06.47\00:05:11.01 the shedding of blood, there is no remission." 00:05:11.04\00:05:13.61 The word "remission" means there is no 00:05:13.64\00:05:15.98 forgiveness without the shedding of blood. 00:05:16.01\00:05:19.48 The Bible tells us the life is in the blood, 00:05:19.51\00:05:22.12 and all creatures need blood. 00:05:22.15\00:05:25.92 Blood is what cleanses us. 00:05:25.95\00:05:29.12 I remember reading a few years ago, and it's also very relevant 00:05:29.16\00:05:32.16 today, when they had that Ebola outbreak there in Africa. 00:05:32.19\00:05:36.16 And, you know, COVID is very serious, but the survival rate 00:05:36.20\00:05:41.57 is a whole lot better than Ebola. 00:05:41.60\00:05:44.14 And some of you remember that there was this nurse William 00:05:44.17\00:05:46.57 Pooley, he contracted Ebola and nearly died, but he survived. 00:05:46.61\00:05:50.55 But because he survived, in his body, he had the antibodies that 00:05:50.58\00:05:54.58 were very rare because there were very few survivors. 00:05:54.62\00:05:59.02 And the antibodies were basically a life serum. 00:05:59.05\00:06:03.22 And he flew to other parts of the world to 00:06:03.26\00:06:06.13 give transfusions to save other people. 00:06:06.16\00:06:10.27 Who knows what the first miracle of Jesus was? 00:06:10.30\00:06:13.97 He turned the water to wine. 00:06:14.00\00:06:16.07 What's wine a symbol of in the Bible? 00:06:16.10\00:06:18.51 The blood, there at the Last Supper, 00:06:18.54\00:06:20.14 Jesus gave them the cup of grape juice. 00:06:20.18\00:06:21.48 He said, "Take, drink. 00:06:21.51\00:06:22.81 This is My blood that is shed for you 00:06:22.84\00:06:25.55 for the remission of sin." 00:06:25.58\00:06:27.78 Said, "Except you eat My flesh and drink My blood--" and He 00:06:27.82\00:06:30.22 doesn't literally want us drinking blood. 00:06:30.25\00:06:31.72 You all know that, no vampires here. 00:06:31.75\00:06:35.42 He's talking about having His life go in us. 00:06:35.46\00:06:40.13 What's the last thing that Jesus did before He died on the cross? 00:06:40.16\00:06:43.93 People offered Him sour wine on a sponge. 00:06:43.97\00:06:48.20 So, they're at the wedding feast, Jesus's 00:06:48.24\00:06:50.31 first miracle, He provides pure grape juice. 00:06:50.34\00:06:53.14 They said, "You've saved the best." 00:06:53.17\00:06:55.38 Then the last thing He does is He takes sour wine from man. 00:06:55.41\00:06:59.08 Jesus gave the human race a blood transfusion. 00:06:59.11\00:07:02.45 Basically, He took our badness and He gives us His goodness. 00:07:02.48\00:07:07.19 He made this great exchange with us. 00:07:07.22\00:07:09.19 You can read also in 1 Corinthians chapter 15, verse 3, 00:07:09.22\00:07:13.03 Christ died for the sins of the Jews? 00:07:13.06\00:07:18.50 He died for the sin of the whole world. 00:07:18.53\00:07:21.40 Did He only die for the sins of those who choose to believe in 00:07:21.44\00:07:23.71 Him, or did He die for everybody? 00:07:23.74\00:07:26.71 Christ died for our sins because He loved us, He took our place. 00:07:26.74\00:07:31.95 Now, sin is deadly. It killed him. 00:07:31.98\00:07:35.02 Sort of something like, if you can imagine if you will, a 00:07:35.05\00:07:39.42 family that lives on a beautiful island out in the Pacific where 00:07:39.45\00:07:43.16 it's tropical paradise, and they got an abundance of good food 00:07:43.19\00:07:46.59 and fruits and clean water, a family with ten children. 00:07:46.63\00:07:49.63 you know, it's like Robinson Crusoe with ten children. 00:07:49.66\00:07:52.30 They're all having a wonderful time, and the one of them, 00:07:52.33\00:07:55.74 for some inexplicable reason, contracts 00:07:55.77\00:08:01.18 a deadly, painful, fatal disease. 00:08:01.21\00:08:05.71 And the parents have to make a difficult decision 00:08:05.75\00:08:07.95 because it's extremely contagious. 00:08:07.98\00:08:10.05 They know if that child stays on the island, it'll infect all 00:08:10.09\00:08:12.89 the other children, and they love that child. 00:08:12.92\00:08:15.69 Wouldn't they be doing everything they could to find a 00:08:15.72\00:08:17.63 way to isolate that child and heal them if they could? 00:08:17.66\00:08:21.73 Put him on a raft, find some cure. 00:08:21.76\00:08:24.20 This is what God is faced with. 00:08:24.23\00:08:25.97 He had to pretty much separate us from the rest of the universe 00:08:26.00\00:08:28.20 because sin is deadly and it's contagious. 00:08:28.24\00:08:30.57 And Jesus said, "There's only one way, I will take their 00:08:30.61\00:08:34.48 penalty to meet the demands of justice. 00:08:34.51\00:08:37.81 I will take their weakness and their sin, 00:08:37.85\00:08:39.95 and I will give them My strength. 00:08:39.98\00:08:41.72 I will give them My purity. I will give them My power. 00:08:41.75\00:08:44.25 They will be new creatures." 00:08:44.29\00:08:46.89 You also read in 1 Peter 3, verse 18, "For Christ also 00:08:46.92\00:08:50.26 suffered once, the just for the unjust." 00:08:50.29\00:08:53.90 He is just. He never sinned. 00:08:53.93\00:08:55.50 He did not deserve it, but He died for you and me. 00:08:55.53\00:08:59.00 So, what is this great plan of salvation called? 00:08:59.03\00:09:02.84 It says in Revelation 14:6--I told you 00:09:02.87\00:09:04.77 this as a prophecy subject. 00:09:04.81\00:09:06.84 Having the everlasting gospel, this is our study tonight. 00:09:06.88\00:09:09.88 What is the everlasting gospel? 00:09:09.91\00:09:12.11 The word "gospel" means good news. 00:09:12.15\00:09:14.68 "Having the everlasting gospel to preach 00:09:14.72\00:09:16.48 to those who dwell on the earth." 00:09:16.52\00:09:18.15 You read in Revelation chapter 14 where this passage comes 00:09:18.19\00:09:21.69 from that in the last days just before Christ comes in chapter 00:09:21.72\00:09:25.89 14, Jesus is pictured coming in the clouds to harvest the earth. 00:09:25.93\00:09:30.10 And just before He comes, there's pictured these angels 00:09:30.13\00:09:32.17 flying in heaven with these messages, 00:09:32.20\00:09:34.64 and they're giving them with a loud voice. 00:09:34.67\00:09:37.34 And one of those messages is this angel's got the everlasting 00:09:37.37\00:09:41.64 gospel to preach unto those who dwell upon the earth. 00:09:41.68\00:09:44.48 You know, this is being fulfilled tonight. 00:09:44.51\00:09:47.02 "Why did God make such a fantastic sacrifice for us?" 00:09:47.05\00:09:51.75 "For God so," what? 00:09:51.79\00:09:54.82 How many of you know this verse in John 3:16? 00:09:54.86\00:09:57.23 "For God so loved--" say it with me, would you? 00:09:57.26\00:10:00.20 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten 00:10:00.23\00:10:04.80 Son, that whosoever believeth in Him 00:10:04.83\00:10:08.37 may not perish, but have everlasting life." 00:10:08.40\00:10:12.24 You know, that is such a wonderful verse. 00:10:12.27\00:10:13.84 I took off tonight before I came, I usually print out a 00:10:13.88\00:10:16.28 couple of notes, and I forgot, but I think I was 00:10:16.31\00:10:18.48 able to print this one thing on my phone 00:10:18.51\00:10:20.92 I want to share with you real quick. 00:10:20.95\00:10:22.75 Just about John 3:16, it's one of the greatest verses. 00:10:22.78\00:10:26.22 Listen to this. Just break it down for a second. 00:10:26.25\00:10:28.46 This is John 3:16, "For God, (the greatest Giver), so loved, 00:10:28.49\00:10:34.00 (the greatest motive), the world, (the greatest number), 00:10:34.03\00:10:38.50 that He gave, (the greatest act), His only Son, (the 00:10:38.53\00:10:42.90 greatest gift), that whosoever, (the greatest invitation), 00:10:42.94\00:10:47.98 believes in Him, (the greatest opportunity), 00:10:48.01\00:10:50.78 should not perish, (the greatest deliverance), 00:10:50.81\00:10:53.75 but have eternal life, (the greatest joy)." 00:10:53.78\00:10:57.29 This verse is so jam-packed, volcanic, 00:10:57.32\00:11:00.16 explosive with promise. 00:11:00.19\00:11:02.66 That's why it's many people's favorite verse. 00:11:02.69\00:11:05.53 He so loved us. 00:11:05.56\00:11:07.10 "What must I do to benefit from Jesus's sacrificial sacrifice?" 00:11:07.13\00:11:11.93 The Bible tells us some things that happened. 00:11:11.97\00:11:14.04 First of all, you got to believe. 00:11:14.07\00:11:16.57 That almost sounds too good to be true. 00:11:16.60\00:11:18.91 All things are possible to those who believe. 00:11:18.94\00:11:21.04 Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved. 00:11:21.08\00:11:25.21 And it starts with simple faith. 00:11:25.25\00:11:26.78 Now, I mean, once you do believe, you're going to see 00:11:26.82\00:11:28.82 changes, but it starts with belief. 00:11:28.85\00:11:32.32 "If" is a two-letter word, but it's 00:11:32.35\00:11:34.96 a very dangerous word for Jesus. 00:11:34.99\00:11:38.03 When Jesus died, He was executed between two thieves. 00:11:38.06\00:11:42.60 Both thieves were asking for deliverance. 00:11:42.63\00:11:45.47 One of them said, "If you are the Christ, 00:11:45.50\00:11:48.20 save Yourself and save us." 00:11:48.24\00:11:50.17 He figured that Jesus would put Himself first. 00:11:50.21\00:11:52.94 The other thief said, "Lord, remember 00:11:52.97\00:11:55.61 me when You come into Your paradise." 00:11:55.64\00:11:57.05 No doubt he says, "You are the Lord, 00:11:57.08\00:11:59.05 and I believe you've got a Kingdom. 00:11:59.08\00:12:00.98 Remember me when you've come into Your Kingdom." 00:12:01.02\00:12:03.55 And Jesus said to him, "Verily I say to you today, 00:12:03.59\00:12:06.22 you will be with Me in Paradise." 00:12:06.25\00:12:07.86 Said, "Verily I say to you today, 00:12:07.89\00:12:09.42 you will be with Me in Paradise." 00:12:09.46\00:12:11.43 What a wonderful promise. 00:12:11.46\00:12:12.76 Now, did that thief do a lot of good works 00:12:12.79\00:12:15.23 and make donations and philanthropic work? 00:12:15.26\00:12:17.80 And, you know, did he cook at the church every week? 00:12:17.83\00:12:21.50 Did he do any good deeds that earned his salvation? 00:12:21.54\00:12:24.74 Or did he simply reach out, pray, and believe? 00:12:24.77\00:12:28.84 The Bible is going to give you a few steps 00:12:28.88\00:12:30.88 of what you need to do to be saved. 00:12:30.91\00:12:32.65 We all need to know what that is. 00:12:32.68\00:12:34.55 One of them, believe. Believe that Jesus loves you. 00:12:34.58\00:12:37.05 Believe that Jesus will save you. 00:12:37.09\00:12:39.22 Would Jesus go through all the trouble that He went through to 00:12:39.25\00:12:41.69 leave heaven and come to this world, dark world compared to 00:12:41.72\00:12:45.19 heaven, where there's evil to be hounded by the devil for 33 and 00:12:45.23\00:12:48.90 a half years, to be tortured on a cross? 00:12:48.93\00:12:51.30 Would He go through all of that to 00:12:51.33\00:12:52.87 save you if you could not be saved? 00:12:52.90\00:12:55.74 Of course you can be saved. Believe it. 00:12:55.77\00:12:58.51 Once you believe it, you give God permission to start making 00:12:58.54\00:13:01.11 changes in your life, but it starts with faith. 00:13:01.14\00:13:03.75 All things are possible to him that believes. 00:13:03.78\00:13:06.15 Without faith, it is impossible to please God, for he that comes 00:13:06.18\00:13:09.62 to God must believe that He is and He is a 00:13:09.65\00:13:11.95 rewarder of those who diligently seek Him, so believe. 00:13:11.99\00:13:15.39 Doug: Don't go anywhere, friends. 00:13:16.96\00:13:18.39 In just a moment, we're going to return 00:13:18.43\00:13:20.40 with the rest of today's presentation. 00:13:20.43\00:13:23.43 No doubt you've often heard that Jesus died for your sins and 00:13:23.47\00:13:27.40 that He paid an enormous price to save you from sin and death. 00:13:27.44\00:13:31.91 It sounds important, but how does that affect your 00:13:31.94\00:13:34.81 day-to-day life 2,000 years later? 00:14:31.33\00:14:32.63 What's this process, the science of how this works? 00:14:32.67\00:14:35.70 First of all, Acts chapter 3, verse 19, 00:14:35.74\00:14:37.61 you can also read this in Acts chapter 2. 00:14:37.64\00:14:39.81 The first word is, what's it say up there on the screen? 00:14:39.84\00:14:42.94 "Repent therefore, be converted, that 00:14:42.98\00:14:45.88 your sins might be blotted out." 00:14:45.91\00:14:48.52 When you look to Jesus in faith and you accept Him, 00:14:48.55\00:14:51.49 then tell Him you're sorry for your sins. 00:14:51.52\00:14:53.92 And this is the second part of that. 00:14:53.96\00:14:55.46 "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and 00:14:55.49\00:14:58.53 just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us 00:14:58.56\00:15:01.10 from," a little bit of unrighteousness. 00:15:01.13\00:15:03.70 I didn't know if you were reading that 00:15:03.73\00:15:05.03 with me, but oh, yeah, it does. 00:15:05.07\00:15:06.70 It says, "All unrighteousness." 00:15:06.74\00:15:08.74 "You mean after my life of sin, I can tell the Lord I'm sorry 00:15:08.77\00:15:12.21 for my sins and repent of my sins and confess, and He says 00:15:12.24\00:15:15.24 He will cleanse me from all unrighteousness?" 00:15:15.28\00:15:19.08 That's right, in the Bible, you've 00:15:19.11\00:15:20.98 got adulterers, adulteresses, murderers, 00:15:21.02\00:15:25.69 thieves that are forgiven by God. 00:15:25.72\00:15:28.12 Paul said, "And such were some 00:15:28.16\00:15:30.39 of you, but you've been cleansed. 00:15:30.43\00:15:31.76 You've been forgiven. 00:15:31.79\00:15:33.09 You've been washed because of Jesus." 00:15:33.13\00:15:35.40 He completely transforms you, but it says you need to repent. 00:15:35.43\00:15:38.80 Now, repentance means a genuine sorrow for sin 00:15:38.83\00:15:42.07 where you're willing to turn away from it. 00:15:42.10\00:15:44.87 There's a lot of Christians that sort 00:15:44.91\00:15:46.44 of teach a shallow idea of repentance. 00:15:46.47\00:15:50.91 They'll have a church service, and they'll say, "If you'd like 00:15:50.95\00:15:53.35 to accept Jesus and have eternal life, you know, 00:15:53.38\00:15:55.45 raise your hand, say this prayer. 00:15:55.48\00:15:57.25 Yes, Jesus, I accept You," and go home, and they kind 00:15:57.29\00:15:59.59 of pretty much continue living their life. 00:15:59.62\00:16:02.62 Repentance is where you have a sorrow for your sin and you 00:16:02.66\00:16:05.49 genuinely want to be made different. 00:16:05.53\00:16:07.50 You want to be delivered from your sin. 00:16:07.50\00:16:09.73 A lot of people have different addictions. 00:16:09.76\00:16:11.07 You don't want to just be forgiven and 00:16:11.10\00:16:12.40 continue with your addiction. 00:16:12.43\00:16:13.74 You want to be saved from your sin, right? 00:16:13.77\00:16:15.94 What does the Bible say to Mary? 00:16:15.97\00:16:17.21 Jesus said--or the angel said to Mary, "You'll call His name 00:16:17.24\00:16:20.54 Jesus because He will save people from their sin." 00:16:20.58\00:16:24.41 He wants to transform you and save you from your sin. 00:16:24.45\00:16:26.85 Sin is your problem. So, we repent. 00:16:26.88\00:16:30.79 Now, if--after the program, I try to, 00:16:30.82\00:16:34.86 you know, I take off my microphone. 00:16:34.89\00:16:36.19 I go back, and I try to greet the people that are coming. 00:16:36.22\00:16:39.09 And if on my way to the back door, I run into you, and I 00:16:39.13\00:16:43.60 knock you down and throw you to the floor, and your stuff 00:16:43.63\00:16:46.80 scattered everywhere and I say, "Excuse me," 00:16:46.84\00:16:48.64 and I keep going, that's probably not right. 00:16:48.67\00:16:51.87 I ought to stop and, you know, help you up 00:16:51.91\00:16:53.48 and apologize, be a little more thorough. 00:16:53.51\00:16:55.51 If on the way to the door, I bumped your elbow with my elbow, 00:16:55.54\00:16:58.58 I just say, "Excuse me," I go on my way. 00:16:58.61\00:17:00.92 The degree of offense dictates how much you apologize. 00:17:00.95\00:17:05.19 See what I'm saying? 00:17:05.22\00:17:07.02 So, when we say, "Thank you for salvation, Jesus," 00:17:07.06\00:17:10.73 and we just walk away, we don't have a 00:17:10.76\00:17:12.63 concept of what He suffered for our sin. 00:17:12.66\00:17:15.53 Part of being a Christian, and not just 00:17:15.56\00:17:16.90 repentance, it's what you call restoration. 00:17:16.93\00:17:19.77 It teaches that in the Bible too, but you 00:17:19.80\00:17:21.34 don't hear too many sermons about that. 00:17:21.37\00:17:23.71 It's being a new creature, righting wrongs. 00:17:23.74\00:17:25.44 And you know what? 00:17:25.47\00:17:26.71 You do that--if you can put that list on the bed and kneel by it 00:17:26.74\00:17:30.08 and say, "Lord, you promised to cleanse me from all 00:17:30.11\00:17:32.01 unrighteousness, thank You for cleansing me." 00:17:32.05\00:17:35.75 And believe and throw that list away. 00:17:35.78\00:17:37.69 Don't anyone--press the delete button. 00:17:37.72\00:17:39.55 Don't let anyone get that list. 00:17:39.59\00:17:41.42 And you're going to feel such relief and 00:17:41.46\00:17:42.89 peace in your life when you do that. 00:17:42.92\00:17:45.53 "What is this wonderful conversion experience called?" 00:17:45.56\00:17:48.70 You can read about it there in John 3, verse 7. 00:17:48.73\00:17:52.23 "You must be--" what did Jesus say to Nicodemus? 00:17:52.27\00:17:54.90 "You must be born again." 00:17:54.94\00:17:57.14 What's He talking about when He said, "You must be born again"? 00:17:57.17\00:18:00.58 It's talking about you become a new person. 00:18:00.61\00:18:03.31 You get a new beginning. 00:18:03.35\00:18:04.58 And when you come to Jesus, you get a new start where all of the 00:18:04.61\00:18:07.62 sins and the mistakes of the past are washed away. 00:18:07.65\00:18:10.29 Like an innocent baby, you come forth into a new world, and you 00:18:10.32\00:18:13.96 are adopted into the family of God. 00:18:13.99\00:18:15.99 God now calls you His son, His daughter, 00:18:16.02\00:18:18.89 and He will watch over you. 00:18:18.93\00:18:20.33 It's like, for me, one of the greatest miracles is 00:18:20.36\00:18:24.20 metamorphosis, how you see this worm turn 00:18:24.23\00:18:28.10 into this elegant, winged creature. 00:18:28.14\00:18:30.81 What a transformation. 00:18:30.84\00:18:32.44 That's what happens in conversion, 00:18:32.47\00:18:33.91 you become a new creature. 00:18:33.94\00:18:35.24 He changes you. 00:18:35.28\00:18:36.58 Old things are passed away, all things become new, 00:18:36.61\00:18:40.22 and you get the innocence of a little baby. 00:18:40.25\00:18:43.52 "Who enters the heart of a Christian, 00:18:43.55\00:18:45.65 of each born-again Christian?" 00:18:45.69\00:18:48.09 The Bible says, "The Spirit of truth, but you know Him, for He 00:18:48.12\00:18:51.99 dwells with you and He will be in you." 00:18:52.03\00:18:54.56 Notice again, the emphasis on He. 00:18:54.60\00:18:57.23 The Holy Spirit will be in you. 00:18:57.27\00:18:59.37 And every day, I pray for the Holy Spirit. 00:18:59.40\00:19:02.27 All the time, many times through the day before the program I'm 00:19:02.30\00:19:04.71 saying, "God, I want Your Spirit to be in me." 00:19:04.74\00:19:07.98 Because He will lead you, He'll guide you, He'll give you 00:19:08.01\00:19:10.68 wisdom, He'll give you sensitivity about what to say, 00:19:10.71\00:19:13.21 how to treat people, how to be like Jesus. 00:19:13.25\00:19:15.95 The Bible calls it being Spirit led. 00:19:15.98\00:19:19.15 And in the same way, I believe in the last days, God wants to 00:19:19.19\00:19:21.56 baptize His people in the Holy Spirit. 00:19:21.59\00:19:24.26 And I think you're going to see the same kind of outpouring of 00:19:24.29\00:19:27.00 the Spirit and the miracles that you see in the book of Acts. 00:19:27.03\00:19:30.07 I think that's going to happen again 00:19:30.10\00:19:31.40 before the Second Coming, don't you? 00:19:31.43\00:19:33.77 Well, how's that going to happen? 00:19:33.80\00:19:35.10 You know how the disciples received the 00:19:35.14\00:19:36.44 Holy Spirit in Pentecostal power? 00:19:36.47\00:19:39.44 Is they spent ten days together praying, 00:19:39.47\00:19:41.78 confessing their faults, forgiving each other. 00:19:41.81\00:19:44.78 And when their hearts were empty, then God could fill them. 00:19:44.81\00:19:48.15 God wants to fill you with His love, His joy, His abundance. 00:19:48.18\00:19:51.19 But unfortunately, our hearts are so full of the 00:19:51.22\00:19:53.15 world, there's no room for anything else. 00:19:53.19\00:19:55.26 When you humble yourself before God, He will fill 00:19:55.29\00:19:57.96 you with the Spirit and He will lift you up. 00:19:57.99\00:20:00.60 "When Jesus lives in my heart through 00:20:00.63\00:20:02.36 the Holy Spirit, what will I do?" 00:20:02.40\00:20:04.37 How are things different? 00:20:04.40\00:20:07.14 "Both to will and to do of His good pleasure." 00:20:07.17\00:20:10.64 And that's Philippians 2:13. 00:20:10.67\00:20:12.07 We are going to be daily wanting to 00:20:12.11\00:20:13.81 seek out what God wants us to do. 00:20:13.84\00:20:15.91 We're going to be sensitive to God's leading. 00:20:15.94\00:20:17.51 You're going to start seeing the most 00:20:17.55\00:20:18.85 amazing miracles happen in your life. 00:20:18.88\00:20:20.98 When I was a baby Christian, I think I needed a little extra 00:20:21.02\00:20:24.39 encouragement because I was very cynical. 00:20:24.42\00:20:30.53 Like John, I'm from New York City, and they got so many 00:20:30.56\00:20:32.96 schemes there and con artists that when I started reading the 00:20:32.99\00:20:35.96 Bible, I just--I didn't want to be taken in. 00:20:36.00\00:20:39.20 So, when I was praying, I believed, but the Lord had to 00:20:39.23\00:20:43.94 just give me some, some encouragement. 00:20:43.97\00:20:47.24 And I saw so many miracles happen that proved to me that 00:20:47.28\00:20:50.58 God is real, and He'll do this for you. 00:20:50.61\00:20:54.52 So, pray for His leading and His will 00:20:54.55\00:20:56.72 to show you what to do, and He will. 00:20:56.75\00:20:58.65 You know, we sing that theme song each night, 00:20:58.69\00:21:00.52 "Help me to know Your will, Lord." 00:21:00.56\00:21:02.86 The greatest battle is not just knowing God's will, 00:21:02.89\00:21:05.19 it's to have a willingness to do His will. 00:21:05.23\00:21:08.46 "Why should I be confident that my new-birth 00:21:08.50\00:21:10.43 experience will be successful?" 00:21:10.47\00:21:13.00 Answer, "He who has begun a good work in you will 00:21:13.03\00:21:18.11 complete it until the day of Jesus Christ." 00:21:18.14\00:21:20.81 This is Philippians 1, verse 6. 00:21:20.84\00:21:23.14 You know, there's so many people that think that, you know, "I 00:21:23.18\00:21:26.15 started out, but I'm not seeing much progress. 00:21:26.18\00:21:29.52 I want God to finish what He started in my life." 00:21:29.55\00:21:31.89 The Bible promises God is the author 00:21:31.92\00:21:34.39 and the finisher of your faith. 00:21:34.42\00:21:36.79 He will finish what He starts in your life, if you ask Him. 00:21:36.83\00:21:40.06 He who begun a good work in you will perform it. 00:21:40.10\00:21:43.40 Jesus is not a quitter. Some people get discouraged. 00:21:43.43\00:21:46.53 They say, "You know, I came to Jesus, but I had no idea that 00:21:46.57\00:21:49.87 there was going to be problems afterward." 00:21:49.90\00:21:52.51 I think pastors do a disservice to people when we make it sound 00:21:52.54\00:21:56.11 like you come to the altar and you accept Jesus, and it's going 00:21:56.14\00:21:59.01 to be a bed of roses and a bowl of cherries from there on. 00:21:59.05\00:22:02.62 When the children of Israel escaped the 00:22:02.65\00:22:04.49 slavery of Egypt, did all of their problems end? 00:22:04.52\00:22:09.32 They crossed the Red Sea, you can call that baptism. 00:22:09.36\00:22:12.39 Paul says in 1 Corinthians 10, that's like baptism. 00:22:12.43\00:22:14.93 They're no longer in the territory of Egypt. 00:22:14.96\00:22:17.10 They're beginning their journey into the Promised Land. 00:22:17.13\00:22:19.37 And they rejoiced for a little while, 00:22:19.40\00:22:20.90 but then they were attacked by the Amalekites. 00:22:20.94\00:22:23.57 God gave them victory if they went and fought with 00:22:23.61\00:22:26.88 Joshua, and Joshua led them to victory. 00:22:26.91\00:22:29.51 They ran out of bread. They got hungry. 00:22:29.54\00:22:32.31 They murmured and complained, 00:22:32.35\00:22:33.65 and God gave them bread from heaven. 00:22:33.68\00:22:34.98 They ran out of water. They got thirsty. 00:22:35.02\00:22:37.05 God gave them water. 00:22:37.09\00:22:38.39 They just had challenge after challenge 00:22:38.42\00:22:40.29 to test their faith along the way. 00:22:40.32\00:22:42.36 And they're wandering, "Why don't we just go 00:22:42.39\00:22:44.03 directly from Egypt to the Promised Land?" 00:22:44.06\00:22:45.96 They did a lot of wandering, you know why? 00:22:45.99\00:22:47.86 They had to go through what you call sanctification. 00:22:47.93\00:22:50.63 They went through a process of learning to trust God. 00:22:50.67\00:22:53.34 Now, it says in Isaiah, "Learn to do good." 00:22:53.37\00:22:56.91 Once you come to the Lord, you have to, sort of, unlearn 00:22:56.94\00:23:00.84 everything you learned in the school of the devil, and you've 00:23:00.88\00:23:03.11 got to learn now what it means to follow the Lord. 00:23:03.14\00:23:05.35 Do not be discouraged if you fall down a 00:23:05.38\00:23:08.28 few times in your early walk with Christ. 00:23:08.32\00:23:11.12 "How will true conversion change a person's life?" 00:23:11.15\00:23:14.59 So, when you have come to the Lord and you've experienced 00:23:14.62\00:23:16.79 genuine conversion, what happens? 00:23:16.83\00:23:19.23 A says, "By this all will know that you are My disciples, 00:23:19.26\00:23:23.37 if you have love for one another." 00:23:23.40\00:23:26.00 You know, some people say, "Oh, you know, 00:23:26.03\00:23:27.34 I don't want to go to church. 00:23:27.37\00:23:28.67 There's some hypocrites in church." 00:23:28.70\00:23:30.41 Well, that's the best environment to learn love in. 00:23:30.44\00:23:34.41 The disciples, did they argue among themselves? 00:23:34.44\00:23:38.98 The Bible says they did. Do families sometimes argue? 00:23:39.01\00:23:44.35 If you say, "Lord, give me love," do you think He's just 00:23:44.39\00:23:46.45 going to give you some pink package in the mail and love's 00:23:46.49\00:23:49.19 going to spill all over you with little sparkle 00:23:49.22\00:23:50.99 fairy dust and you can love everybody? 00:23:51.03\00:23:53.83 No, He's going to put unlovable people around you, 00:23:53.86\00:23:58.03 and you're going to learn how to love. 00:23:58.07\00:23:59.37 But once you learn those people, the 00:23:59.40\00:24:00.77 lovable people are really easy, right? 00:24:00.80\00:24:04.97 But He's going to teach you to love. 00:24:05.01\00:24:07.41 And how did the Bible say that everybody 00:24:07.44\00:24:09.81 is going to know we're His disciples? 00:24:09.84\00:24:11.21 By our love for one another, by our love for one another. 00:24:11.25\00:24:15.22 "If anyone is in Christ, he's a new creation." 00:24:15.25\00:24:18.92 People should see a transformation in your life. 00:24:18.95\00:24:22.99 My old family and the kids that I used to go to 00:24:23.02\00:24:25.86 school with, they see Doug Batchelor now, and 00:24:25.89\00:24:28.30 they say, "Doug became a preacher? 00:24:28.33\00:24:31.30 A pastor?"
