by the friends of the Amazing Facts Ministry. 00:00:04.13\00:00:07.47 い 00:00:07.50\00:00:14.68 Doug Batchelor: Through the sin of Adam we've all got big 00:00:14.71\00:00:17.21 problems. 00:00:17.25\00:00:18.58 We're tempted, we fall, we sin, but through the sacrifice 00:00:18.61\00:00:21.52 and the victory of Jesus we can be born again, adopted 00:00:21.55\00:00:26.65 into a new family that has life instead of death. 00:00:26.69\00:00:31.03 い 00:00:31.06\00:00:34.96 Doug: You know one of the most popular websites and it's also 00:00:35.00\00:00:38.77 become a billion dollar business right now is ancestry.com. 00:00:38.80\00:00:44.21 It's the world's largest online collection of family history 00:00:44.24\00:00:47.88 records and they got three million subscribers. 00:00:47.91\00:00:53.68 There's other knock offs that do varying types of this where 00:00:53.72\00:00:57.85 people can kind of track their ancestry. 00:00:57.89\00:01:01.36 You know, I don't know why but as I've gotten a little 00:01:01.39\00:01:03.53 older I've been a little more interested in that. 00:01:03.56\00:01:06.90 About a year ago, Karen got me ancestry.com test. 00:01:06.93\00:01:12.87 I was always interested because my dad said, "Yeah, we're part 00:01:13.47\00:01:16.67 Indian. 00:01:16.71\00:01:18.01 We're part American-Indian." 00:01:18.04\00:01:19.51 And I always told everybody all my life. 00:01:19.54\00:01:22.58 Yep, I even, you know, my uncle lived with the Navajos. 00:01:22.61\00:01:25.88 I lived on the reservation. 00:01:25.91\00:01:27.22 I used to tell 'em, Yeah, I tried to figure it out when he 00:01:27.25\00:01:29.78 said it was a grandma was a Cherokee. 00:01:29.82\00:01:31.45 And so, Karen got me this DNA tests. 00:01:31.49\00:01:33.69 I couldn't wait to see the results how much Indian I 00:01:33.72\00:01:36.09 was and came back. 00:01:36.12\00:01:39.59 Took six weeks after spitting in a bottle to get the report 00:01:39.63\00:01:42.53 back. 00:01:42.56\00:01:44.93 And I have no Indian at all. 00:01:44.97\00:01:48.74 And my father and his brothers, they've told me all my life. 00:01:48.77\00:01:52.77 I didn't make it up. 00:01:52.81\00:01:54.11 You can ask Karen. 00:01:54.14\00:01:55.44 She talked to my uncles. 00:01:55.48\00:01:56.81 Yeah, yeah, Cherokee. 00:01:56.85\00:01:58.15 'Cause everybody says that, don't they? 00:01:58.18\00:01:59.51 There's people in government that say it. 00:01:59.55\00:02:05.62 Good thing I'm not running for public office, but because 00:02:06.42\00:02:09.29 yeah, it came up zero. 00:02:09.32\00:02:10.66 Now, it turns out I did have a little Indian from India, 00:02:10.69\00:02:14.30 but that's not what I thought. 00:02:14.36\00:02:17.37 I'm a hodgepodge from Europe and England, but mostly Jew. 00:02:17.40\00:02:22.57 European Jew it said. 00:02:22.60\00:02:25.31 Well, our message today is about fruits and nuts 00:02:25.34\00:02:28.78 and the family tree. 00:02:28.81\00:02:31.75 And someone said once I shook the family tree and several nuts 00:02:31.78\00:02:35.15 fell out. 00:02:35.18\00:02:37.45 And I think that we all know that it seems like every family 00:02:37.49\00:02:43.49 has an element of baggage, little bit of dysfunction, 00:02:44.83\00:02:49.46 varying degrees of challenges. 00:02:49.50\00:02:52.77 Child asks their mother, "How are people born?" 00:02:52.80\00:02:56.97 So, the mother being a Christian said, "Well, Adam got married 00:02:57.01\00:03:00.11 to Eve and they had babies and those babies grew 00:03:00.14\00:03:02.14 up and they had babies. 00:03:02.18\00:03:03.51 And eventually we came along." 00:03:03.55\00:03:05.78 And the child then went to the father and he was not 00:03:05.81\00:03:07.82 a believer and he said, "Well, years ago our ancestors were 00:03:07.85\00:03:11.02 monkeys that went through the jungle and gradually 00:03:11.05\00:03:13.76 they evolved into what we are today." 00:03:13.79\00:03:16.89 Child ran back to the mom and said, "Mom, you lied to me. 00:03:16.93\00:03:20.30 Dad said we came from monkeys." 00:03:20.33\00:03:22.43 She said, "No, I wasn't lying. 00:03:22.46\00:03:24.00 He was talking about his side of the family." 00:03:24.03\00:03:29.47 Now, I know when I first started reading through the Bible I 00:03:29.50\00:03:34.11 sometimes struggled going through the genealogies. 00:03:34.14\00:03:37.81 I don't know how you are but when you get 00:03:37.85\00:03:39.25 to the genealogies you kinda just mumble through the names. 00:03:39.28\00:03:41.92 Some of 'em are hard to say. 00:03:41.95\00:03:43.25 I used to say is this part of the Bible inspired? 00:03:43.28\00:03:47.19 Am I supposed to understand this? 00:03:47.22\00:03:49.89 And you find genealogies, you'll find it you know in Genesis 00:03:49.92\00:03:52.66 chapter 5. 00:03:52.69\00:03:54.00 And you get Chronicles, there's quite a bit of genealogy 00:03:54.00\00:03:56.16 in Chronicles. 00:03:56.20\00:03:57.50 You might be interested to know that the the chronicles are 00:03:57.53\00:04:01.80 written with a very specific purpose and it's actually very 00:04:01.84\00:04:05.34 valuable. 00:04:05.37\00:04:07.08 First of all, if you look in 1 Chronicles chapter 1, it's 00:04:07.11\00:04:10.85 tracing the genealogy all the way from Adam up to King 00:04:10.88\00:04:15.58 David. 00:04:15.62\00:04:16.95 It's the royal genealogy. 00:04:16.99\00:04:19.35 It's the genealogy of the king. 00:04:19.39\00:04:22.26 But then if you go to 1 Chronicles chapter 6, it's got 00:04:22.29\00:04:24.86 a different genealogy, it goes from Levi and it's the genealogy 00:04:24.89\00:04:30.30 of the priests. 00:04:30.33\00:04:32.40 I think it's interesting they were careful to separate 00:04:32.43\00:04:34.90 the king and the priest. 00:04:34.94\00:04:36.27 The church and the state. 00:04:36.30\00:04:37.61 They were separate genealogies. 00:04:37.64\00:04:39.51 There was a civil calendar. 00:04:39.54\00:04:41.04 There was a religious calendar. 00:04:41.08\00:04:43.01 And you may know that one reason God I think blessed America, 00:04:43.04\00:04:47.28 we're that lamb with two horns, because we had a separation 00:04:47.32\00:04:50.39 of church and state. 00:04:50.42\00:04:52.15 Doesn't mean that the state is not informed by the church 00:04:52.19\00:04:55.16 and the church is not informed by the laws of the land, but we 00:04:55.19\00:04:58.13 kept them two distinct things. 00:04:58.16\00:04:59.53 Where you find that in the Bible? 00:04:59.56\00:05:02.66 But you also as you read through the genealogies 00:05:02.70\00:05:05.13 of the kings, you find some interesting characters. 00:05:05.17\00:05:08.17 Some were good, some were not so good, some were terrible. 00:05:08.20\00:05:11.44 And even among the priests, you got Nadab, and Abihu, and--and 00:05:11.47\00:05:13.94 Phinehas. 00:05:13.98\00:05:17.85 So, the Bible gives a very faithful record and even 00:05:17.88\00:05:20.42 in those family trees they had a few fruits and nuts. 00:05:20.45\00:05:25.72 But if you look at the family tree of Jesus, you're gonna find 00:05:25.75\00:05:28.29 out he has an interesting family tree. 00:05:28.32\00:05:30.76 Some of you open up your New Testament and you get bored 00:05:30.79\00:05:34.20 right away. 00:05:34.23\00:05:35.53 The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son 00:05:35.56\00:05:38.30 of David, the son of Abraham. 00:05:38.33\00:05:41.34 Abraham begot Isaac, Isaac begot Jacob, Jacob begot Judah. 00:05:41.37\00:05:45.11 Now, right there I haven't gone very far. 00:05:45.14\00:05:47.44 Abraham who had an affair with his wife's maid 00:05:47.48\00:05:52.21 with the encouragement of his wife, beget Isaac who played 00:05:52.25\00:05:56.99 favorites with his two sons. 00:05:57.02\00:06:00.12 Who beget Jacob who dressed up like a sheep so he could 00:06:00.16\00:06:02.82 deceive his father and work with his mother as a conspirator 00:06:02.86\00:06:07.30 to steal the birthright. 00:06:07.30\00:06:09.36 And he then had Judah, who slept with his daughter-in-law 00:06:09.40\00:06:14.67 and ended up having twins because he didn't want to give 00:06:14.70\00:06:17.51 his sons to her. 00:06:17.54\00:06:18.84 Now, I haven't gone very far in Jesus's family tree, 00:06:18.87\00:06:22.68 but something I'm noticing right away is they had a little 00:06:22.71\00:06:25.95 dysfunction going on and yet these are the holy 00:06:25.98\00:06:30.65 ancestors of Jesus. 00:06:30.69\00:06:31.99 Now, they were godly people. 00:06:32.02\00:06:33.32 Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. 00:06:33.36\00:06:34.69 But you read in their lives and in spite of their commitment 00:06:34.72\00:06:38.06 to God and loving the Lord, they seem very human. 00:06:38.09\00:06:42.80 And you can just keep on going down and all you could talk 00:06:42.83\00:06:45.43 about Rahab, who she had a cottage business you might 00:06:45.47\00:06:51.44 say. 00:06:51.71\00:06:53.01 And then you've got David and we've heard ad nauseam 00:06:53.04\00:06:56.21 about David's lying, and deception, and murder, 00:06:56.24\00:06:59.95 and yet he's an ancestor of Jesus. 00:07:00.05\00:07:03.82 So, we're learning that God's family is made up of imperfect 00:07:03.85\00:07:08.56 people that God made perfect through the plan of salvation. 00:07:08.59\00:07:14.56 And it's not just here in Matthew. 00:07:15.03\00:07:16.77 When you look at the genealogy of Jesus, you can see that 00:07:16.80\00:07:21.00 there's something very interesting happening. 00:07:21.04\00:07:23.27 In Matthew, you've got that genealogy. 00:07:23.30\00:07:26.94 Matthew's genealogy is the line of Jesus written for the Jews 00:07:26.98\00:07:33.05 that leads to the father that was very important, leads 00:07:33.08\00:07:35.75 to Joseph the father. 00:07:35.78\00:07:37.52 Luke a physician said, "Well, technically Jesus was conceived 00:07:37.55\00:07:40.99 of the Holy Spirit. 00:07:41.02\00:07:42.32 So we got to trace the bloodline through the mother." 00:07:42.36\00:07:45.03 So, Luke's bloodline is written for the Gentiles and it goes 00:07:45.06\00:07:48.16 through the mother. 00:07:48.20\00:07:49.66 And you know he takes it all the way back. 00:07:49.70\00:07:51.83 It doesn't just go to Abraham, it says the son of Nathan, 00:07:51.87\00:07:55.17 the son of David, the son of Jesse, the son of Obed, 00:07:55.20\00:07:57.41 the son of Boaz, the son of Salmon, and you keep on going 00:07:57.44\00:08:00.54 back as the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son 00:08:00.58\00:08:03.78 of Adam, the son of God. 00:08:03.81\00:08:05.61 They follow the same geology until you get to David and then 00:08:05.65\00:08:09.95 Luke now follows from David to Mary going through Mary's 00:08:09.98\00:08:14.06 father-in-law, rather Joseph's father-in-law, Mary's dad, 00:08:14.09\00:08:19.16 and then Matthew was following it from David 00:08:19.19\00:08:23.00 to Joseph because that would be the important lines. 00:08:23.03\00:08:25.87 People have wondered why there are two different genealogies. 00:08:25.90\00:08:28.30 There was a reason for that just like I showed you there was 00:08:28.34\00:08:30.77 a genealogy for the king and the priest. 00:08:30.81\00:08:32.84 Luke is for the Gentiles, Matthew's for the Jews. 00:08:32.87\00:08:35.28 One is going through the father. 00:08:35.31\00:08:36.68 One is going through the mother. 00:08:36.71\00:08:38.35 But as you read through the different characters 00:08:38.38\00:08:41.15 not all of them are mentioned, but as you read 00:08:41.18\00:08:44.09 through the different characters there are some really 00:08:44.12\00:08:46.69 interesting stories about these people that reminds us how human 00:08:46.72\00:08:51.33 they are. 00:08:51.36\00:08:52.99 And the Bible is pretty clear we are all family. 00:08:53.03\00:08:59.00 All of us are family. 00:08:59.70\00:09:01.10 Now, we're family because we're humans and in spite of some 00:09:01.14\00:09:06.27 people to think we all descended from monkeys, the Bible's pretty 00:09:06.31\00:09:10.35 clear that's not the way it happened. 00:09:10.38\00:09:11.68 We are all related to Adam and Eve. 00:09:11.71\00:09:13.72 And then if you think we lost track from that point, we're all 00:09:13.75\00:09:16.92 related to Noah. 00:09:16.95\00:09:20.36 Acts 17:26, we all have common DNA. 00:09:20.39\00:09:24.56 "He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell 00:09:24.59\00:09:28.16 on all the face of the earth, and He has determined their 00:09:28.20\00:09:31.10 preappointed times and the boundaries of their 00:09:31.13\00:09:33.47 dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord and hope that they 00:09:33.50\00:09:37.04 might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far 00:09:37.07\00:09:40.38 from every one of us." 00:09:40.41\00:09:42.51 Through the Holy Spirit, we all kind of get the DNA of Jesus 00:09:42.54\00:09:46.51 transplanted, but we are all related to each other. 00:09:46.55\00:09:50.05 And if you have a car accident and you need a blood transfusion 00:09:50.09\00:09:52.85 the people in the hospital are going to look at the blood type, 00:09:52.89\00:09:56.49 and they're not going to look and say, "Wow, I wonder are they 00:09:56.52\00:09:58.86 Hispanic, or are they Anglo, or they Chinese," and they don't 00:09:58.89\00:10:02.30 care. 00:10:02.33\00:10:04.30 They just want to know is it oh by the way I know what Jesus's 00:10:04.33\00:10:06.63 blood type was. 00:10:06.67\00:10:08.90 Called B+. 00:10:08.94\00:10:12.31 So, they're just going to want to know are you O+ or whatever 00:10:12.34\00:10:15.24 you are. 00:10:15.28\00:10:16.61 Do you have the right blood type because now if they give you 00:10:16.64\00:10:19.95 lizard blood it'll kill you. 00:10:19.98\00:10:22.25 It's gotta be human blood because we're all related. 00:10:22.28\00:10:25.89 Just as long as it's the right blood type. 00:10:25.92\00:10:28.62 Romans 5:12 problem is that through one of our ancestors we 00:10:28.66\00:10:34.63 acquired a disease. 00:10:36.10\00:10:38.23 "Through one man's sin," Romans 5:12, "sin entered the world 00:10:38.27\00:10:41.70 and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because 00:10:41.74\00:10:45.27 all sinned." 00:10:45.31\00:10:46.61 Now, that doesn't sound fair. 00:10:46.64\00:10:48.81 I was doing a little research. 00:10:48.84\00:10:50.15 Do you know there are certain diseases that are particular 00:10:50.18\00:10:52.81 to certain races. 00:10:52.85\00:10:55.28 You've heard of sickle cell anemia anemia. 00:10:55.32\00:10:57.35 It is more prominent among African Americans, though 00:10:57.39\00:11:01.26 there are some Latin Americans that get it. 00:11:01.29\00:11:03.76 Cystic fibrosis is more prominent among Jews. 00:11:03.79\00:11:06.36 There are several diseases that Jews principally get and you see 00:11:06.39\00:11:10.13 around the world that there are certain diseases that are more 00:11:10.17\00:11:12.70 kind of isolated in certain groups, partly because of their 00:11:12.73\00:11:17.04 isolation. 00:11:17.07\00:11:18.41 There's not enough outside genes that come in and they can get 00:11:18.44\00:11:22.04 genetic deficiencies. 00:11:22.08\00:11:24.45 There are certain diseases that certain breeds of dog get 00:11:24.48\00:11:28.02 because through inbreeding over years. 00:11:28.05\00:11:31.29 They don't get the genetic makeup that they should 00:11:31.32\00:11:34.72 initially have. 00:11:34.76\00:11:36.36 And so, we because we're related to Adam, we've got a problem. 00:11:36.39\00:11:42.46 See, Adam and Eve originally were made in God's image 00:11:42.50\00:11:45.23 but through sin, the DNA, the gene somethin' was damaged. 00:11:45.27\00:11:50.44 Before Adam was motivated by love and after sin 00:11:50.47\00:11:53.84 the compass needle flipped around and now we're motivated 00:11:53.88\00:11:55.84 by self. 00:11:55.88\00:11:57.95 And every human that is born, how many have sinned? 00:11:57.98\00:12:02.75 We've all got this disease. 00:12:02.78\00:12:06.05 We've got a problem. 00:12:06.09\00:12:07.56 Through one man's sin sin entered the world and all have 00:12:07.59\00:12:10.79 sinned. 00:12:10.83\00:12:12.06 Romans 5:14, "Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even 00:12:12.09\00:12:16.97 over those who had not sinned. 00:12:17.00\00:12:18.33 According to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, 00:12:18.37\00:12:20.84 who is a type of Him who is to come." 00:12:20.87\00:12:22.94 Death reigned. 00:12:22.97\00:12:24.27 He's talkin' about even through the that Old Testament 00:12:24.31\00:12:26.54 time up to Moses and beyond then. 00:12:26.57\00:12:29.21 So, we've all got this hereditary problem that has 00:12:29.24\00:12:33.48 caused sin. 00:12:33.52\00:12:35.55 And it affects us in our relationships in our home. 00:12:35.58\00:12:39.59 You know a lot of the biggest disputes in the Bible, you know 00:12:39.62\00:12:41.76 where they are? 00:12:41.79\00:12:43.49 It's called friendly fire alias family feuds. 00:12:43.53\00:12:48.63 announcer: Don't forget to request today's life changing 00:12:48.66\00:12:50.97 free resource. You'll see it in the Bible, Cain killed Abel. 00:13:22.73\00:13:26.80 David's son tried to kill him. 00:13:26.84\00:13:28.84 His king tried to kill him. 00:13:28.87\00:13:30.87 Jesus's brothers didn't understand who he was. 00:13:30.91\00:13:34.28 You can see that there's rivalry that goes on between Jacob. 00:13:34.31\00:13:39.21 Esau threatened to kill Jacob. 00:13:39.25\00:13:41.05 Happens in the families even in the Bible. 00:13:41.08\00:13:44.19 Heard about a husband and wife celebrating 60 years 00:13:44.22\00:13:47.29 and the local paper came by and they said, "That's 00:13:47.32\00:13:49.09 commendable. 00:13:49.12\00:13:50.46 To what do you attribute your long and happy marriage?" 00:13:50.49\00:13:54.20 And the husband said, "Well, when we got married we made 00:13:54.20\00:13:56.46 an agreement that I would make all of the major decisions 00:13:56.50\00:13:59.73 and she would make all of the minor decisions. 00:13:59.77\00:14:02.37 And wouldn't you know after 60 years of marriage, we've never 00:14:02.40\00:14:04.91 had to make a major decision." 00:14:04.94\00:14:09.91 So, that's how they got along. 00:14:09.94\00:14:14.52 And something else that we've noticed is that we have family 00:14:14.55\00:14:19.52 resemblance. 00:14:19.55\00:14:21.69 Whenever I see families traveling I always look 00:14:21.72\00:14:25.06 at the kids and then I look at the parents and I try to just 00:14:25.09\00:14:27.50 for my own entertainment see who looks like who. 00:14:27.56\00:14:31.00 Do we tend to bear things similar to our parents, there's 00:14:31.03\00:14:36.17 likenesses that happened there. 00:14:36.20\00:14:38.04 Someone said the apple doesn't fall very far from the tree. 00:14:38.07\00:14:43.61 I remember hearing one time about during World War II, you 00:14:43.65\00:14:47.48 know they took children out of the city 'cause bomb-- 00:14:47.52\00:14:50.52 London was being bombed by the Nazis just relentless 00:14:50.55\00:14:54.49 bombing. 00:14:54.52\00:14:55.86 And so, many of the children were taken out into the country 00:14:55.89\00:14:57.66 and put in homes to try to preserve the children because 00:14:57.69\00:15:01.43 so many adults had to work in the city. 00:15:01.46\00:15:03.03 They were dying from the daily bombings of the Nazis. 00:15:03.06\00:15:06.00 And many of the children were separated from the parents 00:15:06.03\00:15:08.60 for years and some of the parents died and they 00:15:08.64\00:15:10.71 never got reunited. 00:15:10.74\00:15:11.97 And there were large orphanages and there's one family that had 00:15:12.01\00:15:15.21 like five children in it. 00:15:15.24\00:15:17.38 After the war was over they were trying to find out if either 00:15:17.41\00:15:20.55 their parents had survived. 00:15:20.58\00:15:21.95 And they understood they had lost their mother, but someone 00:15:21.98\00:15:25.49 had gotten word that the father was alive. 00:15:25.52\00:15:28.49 So, the son went into London to look for the father, found 00:15:28.52\00:15:31.99 the father was in a hospital. 00:15:32.03\00:15:33.36 He was recovering. 00:15:33.40\00:15:34.66 Told the father the brothers and sisters were all okay, 00:15:34.73\00:15:37.20 and he was going to bring back word, and he came back and he 00:15:37.23\00:15:40.14 told his siblings, "Father's alive." 00:15:40.17\00:15:42.30 Some of these kids were young. 00:15:42.34\00:15:43.67 They hadn't seen their father in five years and they said, 00:15:43.71\00:15:46.74 "What's he like?" 00:15:46.78\00:15:48.28 And the older brother, he smiled and he said, "Well, they tell me 00:15:48.31\00:15:52.11 he's the spitting image of me." 00:15:52.15\00:15:56.15 When God sent Jesus into the world part 00:15:56.18\00:16:00.79 of the reason Christ came was to show us what the Father's 00:16:00.82\00:16:03.59 like. 00:16:03.63\00:16:04.93 Amen? 00:16:04.96\00:16:06.29 So, He said, "If you've seen Me, you've seen the Father." 00:16:06.33\00:16:09.83 He wants us to know that He is the image of the Father. 00:16:09.86\00:16:13.70 Christ became one of us. 00:16:13.74\00:16:16.40 The Bible says in Philippians 2:7, "But He made Himself of no 00:16:16.44\00:16:20.38 reputation taking the form of a bondservant and coming 00:16:20.41\00:16:24.65 in the likeness of men." 00:16:24.68\00:16:26.18 If God had come through Jesus with all of His glory and His 00:16:26.21\00:16:29.25 dazzling brightness and power we couldn't have born it but He 00:16:29.28\00:16:32.49 came so much like a man that when He was walking among man 00:16:32.52\00:16:35.99 they had no idea that He was any different. 00:16:36.02\00:16:38.66 Bible says, "There's no outward form or comeliness that we 00:16:38.69\00:16:41.13 should desire Him." 00:16:41.16\00:16:42.90 Hebrews 4:15, "We do not have a High Priest who cannot 00:16:42.93\00:16:46.40 sympathize with our weakness, but He was in all points tempted 00:16:46.43\00:16:50.24 as we are yet without sin." 00:16:50.27\00:16:53.91 So, then we read on here. 00:16:53.94\00:16:56.95 In Galatians chapter 3 now it tells us that after Christ came 00:16:56.98\00:17:03.05 He came to provide adoption for us. 00:17:05.39\00:17:08.82 The Bible says, "For you are all children of God by faith 00:17:08.86\00:17:13.29 in Jesus." 00:17:13.33\00:17:14.83 We become adopted into this new family. 00:17:14.86\00:17:18.07 Continuing with Romans chapter 5, verse 18, "Therefore as 00:17:18.10\00:17:23.14 through one man's offense," Adam, "judgment came on all men, 00:17:23.17\00:17:27.41 resulting in condemnation." 00:17:27.44\00:17:29.04 'Cause we all sinned, "Even so through one man's righteous 00:17:29.08\00:17:34.18 act," Jesus coming, his dying on the cross, "The free gift, 00:17:34.22\00:17:38.92 the cure came to all men, resulting in justification 00:17:38.95\00:17:44.06 of life." 00:17:44.09\00:17:45.39 The sin of Adam resulted in death. 00:17:45.43\00:17:46.96 The sacrifice of Jesus offers us life. 00:17:47.00\00:17:49.76 Now, I just want to pause right here and emphasize a point. 00:17:49.80\00:17:52.67 How many of you believe that because of the fall of Adam that 00:17:52.70\00:17:56.64 you're having problems today? 00:17:56.67\00:17:58.51 Is that real to you? 00:17:58.54\00:17:59.87 Do you struggle with sin? 00:17:59.91\00:18:01.54 I don't see too many hands going up and I see your heads nodding. 00:18:01.58\00:18:03.51 You're just-- is it real? 00:18:03.55\00:18:05.95 You really know that because of what happened to Adam it 00:18:05.98\00:18:08.42 affects my life today. 00:18:08.45\00:18:09.78 I know it. 00:18:09.82\00:18:11.12 Yeah. 00:18:11.15\00:18:12.45 It's like Paul said, we struggle with this nature inside. 00:18:12.49\00:18:17.36 The sacrifice of Jesus liberating you from that disease 00:18:17.39\00:18:22.93 is just as real through faith. 00:18:22.96\00:18:26.74 This is what Paul is saying and when you catch this, 00:18:26.77\00:18:28.50 friends, this is the message of righteousness by faith. 00:18:28.54\00:18:32.01 Through the sin of Adam we've all got big problems. 00:18:32.04\00:18:35.48 We're tempted, we fall, we sin, sin brings all kinds of misery 00:18:35.51\00:18:38.51 in its wake, but through the sacrifice 00:18:38.55\00:18:41.85 and the victory of Jesus, we can be born again, adopted 00:18:41.88\00:18:46.99 into a new family that has life instead of death. 00:18:47.02\00:18:51.79 Through Adam there's a death penalty, through life there-- 00:18:51.83\00:18:56.30 through Jesus there is life that comes. 00:18:56.33\00:18:58.43 That's good news. 00:18:58.47\00:18:59.80 You know this is the story of the gospel. 00:18:59.83\00:19:01.40 It says in Romans 8:14, "For as many as are led by the Spirit, 00:19:01.44\00:19:05.94 these are the sons of God. 00:19:05.97\00:19:08.21 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again 00:19:08.24\00:19:10.75 to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom 00:19:10.78\00:19:16.28 we cry out, 'Abba, Father.' 00:19:16.32\00:19:19.42 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are 00:19:19.45\00:19:22.89 children of God." 00:19:22.92\00:19:24.23 And I know you might think well, aren't we all children of God? 00:19:24.26\00:19:25.59 No, Jesus said to some of the religious leaders, 00:19:25.63\00:19:28.73 "You're of your father the devil." 00:19:28.76\00:19:32.10 Not everyone is a child of God. 00:19:32.13\00:19:33.77 I mean, we're all children of God in that He loves 00:19:33.80\00:19:35.90 everybody, but you're not adopted into the family unless 00:19:35.94\00:19:39.54 you're born again in the family. 00:19:39.57\00:19:42.88 It says, "By which we cry, 'Abba, Father,' the Spirit 00:19:42.91\00:19:45.25 Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children 00:19:45.28\00:19:47.85 of God and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint 00:19:47.88\00:19:52.12 heirs with Christ." 00:19:52.15\00:19:53.46 What is an heir? 00:19:53.49\00:19:54.99 An heir is someone that inherits. 00:19:55.02\00:19:59.29 You know, I remember reading about a couple of boys that were 00:19:59.33\00:20:03.33 registering at a new school one day. 00:20:03.37\00:20:05.40 They were about seven years old and the teacher was writing 00:20:05.43\00:20:07.27 down their names. 00:20:07.30\00:20:08.60 They were brothers and she asked their birthdays. 00:20:08.64\00:20:09.97 One said, "I was born April 7." 00:20:10.01\00:20:11.31 The other one said, "I'm born April 21." 00:20:11.34\00:20:12.87 He said, "Wait a second. 00:20:12.91\00:20:14.38 I've heard of twins that were born on different days, you 00:20:14.41\00:20:16.64 know, within a few hours, but you guys can't be twins. 00:20:16.68\00:20:18.81 You don't look like twins." 00:20:18.85\00:20:20.65 And she said, "How can this be?" 00:20:20.68\00:20:22.02 And they said, "We're adopted." 00:20:22.05\00:20:24.29 And the teacher without thinking she said, "Just curious, which 00:20:24.32\00:20:26.86 one?" 00:20:26.89\00:20:28.22 And they said, "We don't know. 00:20:28.26\00:20:31.63 Dad says he loves us both and he can't remember." 00:20:31.66\00:20:36.30 So, when we're adopted into the family, God looks 00:20:36.33\00:20:40.37 upon us with the same love as His Son. 00:20:40.40\00:20:44.01 What he said to Jesus at His baptism, "This is My beloved Son 00:20:44.04\00:20:47.84 in whom I'm well pleased." 00:20:47.88\00:20:49.18 He says that to us. 00:20:49.21\00:20:51.88 "To Timothy, my own son in the faith," what's 00:20:51.91\00:20:54.68 the language of the apostles? 00:20:54.72\00:20:56.79 It's the language of a family. 00:20:56.82\00:20:58.99 Matthew 12:46 through 50, while Christ was talking 00:20:59.02\00:21:02.56 to the multitudes His mother and His brothers stood outside 00:21:02.59\00:21:05.83 seeking to speak with Him. 00:21:05.86\00:21:07.13 And they said, "Look, you know, we're family. 00:21:07.20\00:21:08.50 We have priority. 00:21:08.53\00:21:09.83 Tell these people we want to talk to You. 00:21:09.86\00:21:11.20 Get over here right now." 00:21:11.23\00:21:12.47 "And Jesus said to him the one who beckoned Him, 'Look, your 00:21:12.50\00:21:16.81 mother and your brother,' they said, 'are standing outside.' 00:21:16.84\00:21:19.71 He answered and said, 'Who is My mother and who are My brothers?' 00:21:19.74\00:21:24.01 He stretched out His hand towards His disciples. 00:21:24.05\00:21:27.15 He said, 'For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven 00:21:27.18\00:21:31.82 they are My brother and My sister and My mother.'" When 00:21:31.85\00:21:36.09 you're adopted into his family it's because we obey a different 00:21:36.12\00:21:41.60 constitution. 00:21:41.63\00:21:42.93 We want to follow His Word. 00:21:42.96\00:21:45.30 Now, what do we get? 00:21:45.33\00:21:46.63 Are there any benefits of being adopted and being part of His 00:21:46.67\00:21:49.17 family? 00:21:49.20\00:21:50.51 Peter asked what we all think. 00:21:50.54\00:21:52.41 Peter began to say, "Lord, we've left everything to follow you, 00:21:52.44\00:21:54.98 what will we have?" 00:21:55.01\00:21:57.78 And Jesus answered and said, "Assuredly, I say to you there 00:21:57.81\00:22:01.22 is no one who has left house, or brothers, or sisters, 00:22:01.25\00:22:05.02 or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands." 00:22:05.05\00:22:10.36 Sometimes when a person made a decision to be a Christian, 00:22:10.39\00:22:13.73 they were alienated from their family. 00:22:13.76\00:22:16.36 They were shunned. 00:22:16.40\00:22:18.13 And if you are a Jew and you accepted Christ after that great 00:22:18.17\00:22:20.84 persecution arose you could lose your property. 00:22:20.87\00:22:23.91 You realize one reason the genealogies are in the Bible 00:22:23.94\00:22:26.41 is because property was held by families. 00:22:26.44\00:22:29.41 You were not supposed to take your your inheritance of your 00:22:29.44\00:22:32.71 land sell it to another tribe. 00:22:32.75\00:22:34.05 You read the story of Naboth's vineyard, the King Ahab said 00:22:34.08\00:22:38.42 to Naboth, "I'd like to have your property." 00:22:38.45\00:22:40.29 Says, "I can't the law says it's my family's." 00:22:40.32\00:22:43.59 You couldn't lose your family inheritance. 00:22:43.63\00:22:44.96 So, the genealogy really was a deed and your genealogy 00:22:44.99\00:22:49.23 in Christ gives you an inheritance to a land doesn't 00:22:49.26\00:22:52.27 it? 00:22:52.30\00:22:53.64 "You'll receive hundredfold more, a hundred times more now 00:22:53.67\00:22:58.14 in this time-- houses, and brothers, and sisters, 00:22:58.17\00:23:01.74 and mothers, and children, and lands with persecutions," he 00:23:01.78\00:23:05.55 puts in, "and in the age to come eternal life." 00:23:05.58\00:23:10.49 And God promises to pull His family together near the end. 00:23:10.52\00:23:13.19 Some of you are praying for loved ones. 00:23:13.22\00:23:16.09 Some of us got kids and they do, and all of us are very proud 00:23:16.12\00:23:22.10 of our kids until they act foolish and then we don't 00:23:22.33\00:23:24.90 believe in heredity anymore. 00:23:24.93\00:23:28.74 But we all have kids we're praying for. 00:23:28.77\00:23:31.34 The Bible says, "I will say to the north," Isaiah 43:6, 00:23:31.37\00:23:34.88 "'Give them up' and to the south, 'Do not keep 00:23:34.91\00:23:37.68 them back. 00:23:37.71\00:23:39.05 Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends 00:23:39.08\00:23:42.45 of the earth. 00:23:42.48\00:23:43.82 Everyone who is called by My name who I have created for My 00:23:43.85\00:23:46.89 glory.'" God says that He will save thy children. 00:23:46.92\00:23:52.93 You know, in Christ, we are all blessed with the blessings that 00:23:53.70\00:23:56.90 God gave Abraham. 00:23:56.93\00:23:58.27 You know God told Abraham in Genesis 12, I will bless 00:23:58.30\00:24:01.70 those who bless you and I will curse him, who curses you. 00:24:01.74\00:24:04.57 And in you, in your seed, in your families, all the Earth 00:24:04.61\00:24:08.38 will be blessed and then you jump to the New Testament. 00:24:08.41\00:24:10.91 That's Genesis, Old Testament, go to the G in the New 00:24:10.95\00:24:13.52 Testament. 00:24:13.55\00:24:14.85 That's Galatians. 00:24:14.88\00:24:16.22 It says, If you are Christ's then you are Abraham's seed 00:24:16.25\00:24:18.15 and heirs. 00:24:18.19\00:24:19.82 You are adopted into the family and you are an heir, what's 00:24:19.85\00:24:22.26 an heir get? 00:24:22.29\00:24:23.63 An inheritance and you are heirs according to the promise. 00:24:23.66\00:24:27.20 All the blessings that God made and promised to Abraham belong 00:24:27.23\00:24:30.87 to you. 00:24:30.90\00:24:32.63 He promised him a city not made with man's hands, didn't he? 00:24:32.67\00:24:36.64 He promised them a place in the Promised Land. 00:24:36.67\00:24:39.71 "Though your sins be as scarlet, They will be white as snow; 00:24:39.74\00:24:42.81 Though they be red like crimson, They will be like wool." 00:24:42.84\00:24:47.68 Who was it Billy Graham, or it was Billy Sunday used to say, "I 00:24:47.72\00:24:51.09 don't know, how a black cow eats green grass and make yellow 00:24:51.12\00:24:54.66 butter and white milk, but I believe it." 00:24:54.69\00:24:59.33 And Jesus is telling us that He's offering us the antidote. 00:24:59.36\00:25:02.50 Now, when we come to Christ through faith, and we believe 00:25:02.53\00:25:06.10 in His sacrifice, the Bible says that you can be born again. 00:25:06.13\00:25:10.24 You are adopted. 00:25:10.27\00:25:11.81 You are washed in the blood and you are part of the family 00:25:11.84\00:25:15.38 in heaven. 00:25:15.41\00:25:16.85 And I'm so glad that we have a family here and you know even 00:25:16.88\00:25:19.78 in our family, we know we've got some fruits and nuts 00:25:19.81\00:25:22.58 in the family tree, amen? 00:25:22.62\00:25:24.39 But we're family. 00:25:24.42\00:25:26.32 Did the disciples sometimes argue among themselves who was 00:25:26.35\00:25:28.79 the greatest but when they put aside their differences God 00:25:28.82\00:25:32.09 poured out the spirit and they changed the world. 00:25:32.13\00:25:34.36 い 00:25:34.40\00:25:38.93 announcer: Don't forget to request today's life changing 00:25:38.97\00:25:41.27 free resource. 00:25:41.30\00:25:42.54 Not only can you receive this free gift in the mail you can 00:25:42.57\00:25:44.94 download a digital copy straight to your computer or mobile 00:25:44.97\00:25:47.71 device. 00:25:47.74\00:25:49.08 To get your digital copy of today's free gift simply text 00:25:49.11\00:25:52.05 the keyword on your screen to 40544 or visit the web 00:25:52.08\00:25:56.25 address shown on your screen. 00:25:56.28\00:25:58.15 And be sure to select a digital download option on the request 00:25:58.19\00:26:01.26 page. 00:26:01.29\00:26:02.59 It's now easier than ever for you to study God's Word 00:26:02.62\00:26:05.16 with Amazing Facts wherever and whenever you want. 00:26:05.19\00:26:08.30 And most important to share it with others. 00:26:08.33\00:26:11.67 female announcer: Did you know Amazing Facts has a free Bible 00:26:11.70\00:26:14.10 school that you can do from the comfort of your own 00:26:14.14\00:26:16.71 home?
