for when he has been approved, he will receive the 00:02:22.44\00:02:25.91 crown of life which the Lord has promised to those that love 00:02:25.94\00:02:29.88 him," James chapter 1, verse 12. 00:02:29.91\00:02:32.48 Remember, friends, that despite the trials that you might be 00:02:32.51\00:02:35.02 going through today, having faith in God and trusting in His 00:02:35.05\00:02:39.15 Word will see you through every trial and will lead to ultimate 00:02:39.19\00:02:43.59 victory at the Second Coming of Christ. 00:02:43.63\00:02:46.46 That's why Jesus said, "...He that endures to the end, the 00:02:46.49\00:02:50.07 same shall be saved." 00:02:50.10\00:02:52.40 Well, friends, I want to welcome you again to "Bible 00:02:52.43\00:02:54.84 Answers Live." 00:02:54.87\00:02:56.17 My name is Jëan Ross. 00:02:56.20\00:02:57.54 Pastor Doug is out this evening, but our phone lines are open. 00:02:57.57\00:02:59.47 If you have a Bible related question, we would love to hear 00:02:59.51\00:03:02.21 from you tonight. 00:03:02.24\00:03:03.68 Our phone line here to the studio is 800-463-7297. 00:03:03.71\00:03:08.92 That number, again, is 800-463-7297. 00:03:08.95\00:03:14.16 That'll bring you here into the studio. 00:03:14.19\00:03:16.73 If you also have a email question, you can just email 00:03:16.76\00:03:20.86 that to "Bible Answers Live" email at amazingfacts.org and 00:03:20.90\00:03:26.33 you'll be able to get your email sent to us as well. 00:03:26.37\00:03:29.17 We have a free offer we want to tell you about. 00:03:29.20\00:03:30.91 It is a book written here at Amazing Facts and it is free for 00:03:30.94\00:03:34.24 anyone who calls an asks. 00:03:34.28\00:03:35.61 It is called, "Deathwatch in Siberia," and it goes along with 00:03:35.64\00:03:39.35 our opening fact, talking about enduring trials. 00:03:39.38\00:03:42.45 And in this case, for Christ. 00:03:42.48\00:03:44.42 You'll be blessed by reading this book. 00:03:44.45\00:03:46.05 It's free. 00:03:46.09\00:03:47.42 Just call 800-835-6747 and you can ask for offer number 114 00:03:47.46\00:03:52.49 or ask for it by name, "Deathwatch in Siberia." 00:03:53.40\00:03:56.40 There's another way that you can get the book, just dial pound 00:03:56.43\00:03:59.00 250 on your smartphone and say, "Bible Answers Live" and then 00:03:59.03\00:04:02.77 ask for the book by name, "Deathwatch in Siberia." 00:04:02.80\00:04:05.67 We'll be happy to send it to you. 00:04:05.71\00:04:07.01 If you're outside of North America, go to the website 00:04:07.04\00:04:09.78 AmazingFacts.org and you'll be able to download a digital copy 00:04:09.81\00:04:13.35 of the book and you'll be able to read that right now. 00:04:13.38\00:04:16.12 So, take advantage of that wonderful free offer. 00:04:16.15\00:04:18.75 I see we've got some callers waiting for their question. 00:04:18.79\00:04:23.19 But before we go to the phone lines, lets have a word 00:04:23.22\00:04:25.26 of prayer. 00:04:25.29\00:04:26.63 Dear Father, we are so grateful for this opportunity once again 00:04:26.66\00:04:28.86 to be able to open up Your Word and study these very important 00:04:28.90\00:04:32.03 truths from scripture. 00:04:32.07\00:04:33.40 Lord, the Bible is Your book. 00:04:33.44\00:04:35.07 We ask for the Holy Spirit to come and guide us, lead us all 00:04:35.10\00:04:37.67 into a clearer understanding of Your Word, for we ask this in 00:04:37.71\00:04:40.98 Jesus's name, amen. 00:04:41.01\00:04:43.24 Well, our first caller this evening, Jinetlee, is listening 00:04:43.28\00:04:46.75 in New York. 00:04:46.78\00:04:48.08 Jinetlee, welcome to the program. 00:04:48.12\00:04:49.45 You're on "Bible Answers Live." 00:04:49.48\00:04:51.12 Jinetlee: Hi, Pastor Ross. How are you? 00:04:51.15\00:04:53.42 Jëan: I'm doing well. Thanks for calling. 00:04:53.46\00:04:55.52 Jinetlee: Hi, I started to read the book of Jonah and listening 00:04:55.56\00:04:58.29 to stories of Nineveh and seeing how Jonah was--at the 00:04:58.33\00:05:04.30 beginning, everyone was saying, "Don't punish me because of 00:05:04.33\00:05:07.07 him," and I almost feel convicted as an American 00:05:07.10\00:05:10.41 with everything that's happening. 00:05:10.44\00:05:11.67 I was just wondering if this is just kind of some panic or, you 00:05:11.71\00:05:15.68 know, if we should be taking this a little more serious 00:05:15.71\00:05:17.75 and repenting. 00:05:17.78\00:05:19.48 Jëan: Yeah, absolutely. 00:05:19.51\00:05:20.85 I think Jesus made it clear in Matthew chapter 24, He gave us 00:05:20.88\00:05:23.82 certain signs connected with His Second Coming. 00:05:23.85\00:05:26.25 The Bible speaks of wars and rumors of wars, there's 00:05:26.29\00:05:29.96 pestilence, diseases, all of these are are warning signs. 00:05:29.99\00:05:35.23 But I think one of the greatest signs that Jesus gives is that 00:05:35.26\00:05:38.50 when this gospel of the kingdom, He said, "Shall be preached unto 00:05:38.53\00:05:41.10 all the world as a witness unto all nations, then the end 00:05:41.14\00:05:44.27 will come." 00:05:44.31\00:05:45.61 So yes, we see these things happening in the world. 00:05:45.64\00:05:47.68 If anything, I think it should inspire us and motivate us, as 00:05:47.71\00:05:50.95 Christians, to proclaim the gospel to the world. 00:05:50.98\00:05:54.15 Now, that might be in your neck of the woods, in your 00:05:54.18\00:05:56.52 neighborhood, to your friends, to your neighbors, to live out 00:05:56.55\00:05:59.09 your faith because this gospel's go to all the world and then the 00:05:59.12\00:06:02.99 end will come. 00:06:03.02\00:06:04.33 And that's happening through technology, through media, 00:06:04.36\00:06:07.13 through satellites, through the internet. 00:06:07.20\00:06:08.66 The gospel is being preached to the world. 00:06:08.70\00:06:11.17 So, yes, the sign of Jonah is absolutely one of those signs, 00:06:11.20\00:06:14.64 could very well be the natural disasters and the earthquakes 00:06:14.67\00:06:17.71 that we see in the world. 00:06:17.74\00:06:19.24 Does that make sense, Jinetlee? 00:06:19.27\00:06:22.34 Jinetlee: Yeah, yeah. 00:06:22.38\00:06:24.35 I'm seeing it. 00:06:24.38\00:06:25.68 I've just been feeling more called to tell my friends to 00:06:25.71\00:06:28.72 start picking up the book and it's a good book, it's an 00:06:28.75\00:06:31.32 interesting book. 00:06:31.35\00:06:32.65 Jëan: It is a very interesting book. 00:06:32.69\00:06:34.36 It's a great book because it also illustrates the gospel. 00:06:34.39\00:06:36.99 Not only is it talking about warnings of judgment, but it's 00:06:37.03\00:06:40.33 also a gospel invitation. 00:06:40.36\00:06:42.10 You see God's mercy for those in Nineveh and actually sending 00:06:42.13\00:06:45.50 Jonah, despite his reluctance, to actually preach this 00:06:45.53\00:06:48.67 warning message. 00:06:48.70\00:06:50.04 A number of important lessons there. 00:06:50.07\00:06:51.94 Thanks for your call. 00:06:51.97\00:06:53.31 Next caller that we have is Gary and he's listening in Illinois. 00:06:53.34\00:06:55.18 Gary, welcome to "Bible Answers Live." 00:06:55.21\00:06:57.91 Gary: Thank you. 00:06:57.95\00:06:59.28 In Revelation 13, it talks of two beasts. 00:06:59.31\00:07:02.95 The second beast has political and religious power like the 00:07:02.98\00:07:05.89 first beast. 00:07:05.92\00:07:07.26 So, my question is, is the second beast--does it have 00:07:07.29\00:07:10.86 anything to do with the Christian nationalism movement 00:07:10.89\00:07:14.30 that we're seeing right now? 00:07:14.36\00:07:16.20 Jëan: Well, yes, it does. 00:07:16.23\00:07:18.90 But let me just back up a little bit and talk about these 00:07:18.93\00:07:21.20 two beasts. 00:07:21.24\00:07:22.54 Revelation chapter 13, you're referring to. 00:07:22.57\00:07:24.47 The first beast that's described, beginning in verse 1, 00:07:24.51\00:07:27.21 and it goes through until verse 10, it describes a beast that 00:07:27.24\00:07:33.01 arises up out of the sea and it talks about this beast and 00:07:33.05\00:07:36.28 gives descriptions. 00:07:36.32\00:07:37.62 Now, beast in Bible prophecy represents a political power, 00:07:37.65\00:07:40.86 a nation. 00:07:40.89\00:07:42.22 And in this case, the first beast represents a political 00:07:42.26\00:07:45.89 power, but it's unique because it's--God talks about it--it's 00:07:45.93\00:07:48.43 got blasphemy or blasphemes against God. 00:07:48.46\00:07:50.93 So, it's both a political and a religious power. 00:07:50.97\00:07:53.87 It is sort of a combination of church and state. 00:07:53.90\00:07:57.27 And Protestant reformers throughout history have 00:07:57.31\00:07:59.94 identified this first beast, of Revelation 13, is representing 00:08:00.04\00:08:03.24 the rise of the Papal power or the Vatican, especially during 00:08:03.28\00:08:07.45 the 1260 years of Papal supremacy, from 538 until 1798. 00:08:07.48\00:08:12.89 But there is a second beast that's referred to here, "Coming 00:08:12.92\00:08:15.49 up from the earth and he had two horns like a lamb," this is 00:08:15.52\00:08:19.36 verse 11, "but he ended up speaking like a dragon." 00:08:19.39\00:08:21.80 That second beast has been identified as the United States 00:08:21.83\00:08:25.27 in Bible prophecy. 00:08:25.30\00:08:26.70 So, as the first beast was receiving what's called the 00:08:26.74\00:08:29.20 deadly wound, that occurred at the end of the 1260 years of 00:08:29.24\00:08:32.64 Papal supremacy in 1798 where the political power of the 00:08:32.67\00:08:36.44 Papacy was removed, another power was arising. 00:08:36.48\00:08:39.81 Well, that power, of course, was the United States. 00:08:39.85\00:08:41.78 It was gaining momentum. 00:08:41.82\00:08:43.12 It was growing to world prominence. 00:08:43.15\00:08:45.35 And the United States, different from the Papal power, was based 00:08:45.39\00:08:49.29 upon Protestant values, the freedom of religion, separation 00:08:49.32\00:08:53.80 of church and state, which was different from that of the Papal 00:08:53.83\00:08:56.97 power of the Vatican. 00:08:57.00\00:08:58.30 But as time goes on, it says it has two horns like a lamb, but 00:08:58.33\00:09:02.10 it speaks like a dragon, meaning there is a change that takes 00:09:02.14\00:09:05.64 place within the United States. 00:09:05.67\00:09:08.34 And I think there's going to be a bit of a backlash, you might 00:09:08.38\00:09:11.58 say, to the moral decay that we see in our society. 00:09:11.61\00:09:14.95 Those who are convicted or feel like, wow, you know, we need to 00:09:14.98\00:09:18.62 get America back to God and, to some degree, we agree with them 00:09:18.65\00:09:21.82 because we see the sin and we see, just, the immorality that's 00:09:21.86\00:09:24.83 taking place around us. 00:09:24.86\00:09:26.16 But you can't force people to worship God. 00:09:26.19\00:09:28.66 It's got to be a freedom of choice, a decision they make. 00:09:28.70\00:09:31.73 However, they're going to go to extreme. 00:09:31.77\00:09:33.54 And eventually, according to Bible prophecy, certain laws 00:09:33.57\00:09:36.74 will be enforced that restrict religious worship and that sets 00:09:36.77\00:09:40.71 up the mark of the beast that you read about here in the 00:09:40.74\00:09:43.31 same passage. 00:09:43.35\00:09:44.65 So, does those--is--does the religious right or the Christian 00:09:44.68\00:09:49.25 Coalition or the Ecumenical movement that we see in the 00:09:49.28\00:09:51.99 United States, does that have something to play in this? 00:09:52.02\00:09:54.46 I believe so. 00:09:54.49\00:09:55.82 And I think as time goes on we'll see this even clearer. 00:09:55.86\00:09:59.03 Does that make sense, Gary? 00:09:59.06\00:10:01.20 Gary: Boy, it talks really, very, an awful lot. 00:10:01.23\00:10:04.47 Jëan: All right, well, thank you for your call. 00:10:04.50\00:10:06.43 You know, we do have a study guide that we'll be happy to 00:10:06.47\00:10:10.01 send to anyone who wants to learn more about the United 00:10:10.04\00:10:12.24 States in Bible prophecy. 00:10:12.27\00:10:13.81 It is called, "The US in Bible Prophecy." 00:10:13.84\00:10:16.48 Pretty simple name. 00:10:16.51\00:10:17.81 If you'd like to receive that, just call and ask. 00:10:17.85\00:10:19.68 The number is 800-835-6747. 00:10:19.71\00:10:23.82 As for the study guide, it's called, "The United States"--or, 00:10:23.85\00:10:25.95 "The US in Bible Prophecy." 00:10:25.99\00:10:27.59 If you'd like to receive a digital download of that study 00:10:27.62\00:10:30.13 guide, dial pound 250 on your smartphone. 00:10:30.16\00:10:33.53 Say, "Bible Answers Live," and say, "I'd like to get the study 00:10:33.56\00:10:36.56 guide, "The US in Bible Prophecy," and you'll be able to 00:10:36.60\00:10:39.03 download that lesson right there. 00:10:39.07\00:10:41.34 Next caller that we have is Henry listening in New York. 00:10:41.37\00:10:44.84 Henry, welcome to the program. 00:10:44.87\00:10:46.98 Henry: Yes. 00:10:47.01\00:10:48.31 Hello. 00:10:48.34\00:10:49.68 Jëan: Hi. 00:10:49.71\00:10:51.01 And your question? 00:10:51.05\00:10:52.38 Henry: My question is, when you die, does it matter where your 00:10:52.41\00:10:56.48 body goes? 00:10:56.52\00:10:58.35 Jëan: When you die, does it matter when you--do you mean if 00:10:58.39\00:11:00.39 you're buried or cremated? 00:11:00.42\00:11:02.12 Henry: Right. 00:11:02.16\00:11:03.46 I know when Jesus Christ died they buried Him in the tomb. 00:11:03.49\00:11:07.50 When Lazarus died is different, but, like, if I die today, well, 00:11:07.56\00:11:11.40 does it matter where my body goes? 00:11:11.43\00:11:13.90 Jëan: All right, well, that's a good question, yes. 00:11:13.94\00:11:15.94 Well, first of all, in the resurrection, for the believer, 00:11:15.97\00:11:18.44 you know, they're going to be resurrected to eternal life when 00:11:18.47\00:11:20.81 Jesus comes the second time. 00:11:20.84\00:11:22.54 We receive, at the Second Coming of Christ, whether we are 00:11:22.58\00:11:25.45 resurrected from the dead or whether we are alive and changed 00:11:25.48\00:11:28.35 in a moment, in a twinkling of an eye, we receive immortal 00:11:28.38\00:11:31.52 bodies, very different than the bodies that we have now. 00:11:31.55\00:11:34.79 So, God doesn't need anything of the leftovers of this body that 00:11:34.82\00:11:38.66 we currently have in order for us to be recreated, to have our 00:11:38.69\00:11:42.56 immortal bodies. 00:11:42.60\00:11:44.03 So, you know, from a biblical perspective, if you look at the 00:11:44.07\00:11:48.17 tradition that we see in scripture, most people were 00:11:48.20\00:11:50.57 buried, but if you're buried for a long enough time, there's not 00:11:50.61\00:11:54.41 anything left but maybe some teeth and a few bones. 00:11:54.44\00:11:57.75 Again, that's not something that God needs to recreate you at the 00:11:57.78\00:12:02.78 Second Coming of Christ. 00:12:02.82\00:12:04.39 There are a few examples in the Bible, I'm thinking of Jonathan. 00:12:04.42\00:12:09.06 He was eventually cremated. 00:12:09.09\00:12:11.59 They gathered his body and they burnt it. 00:12:11.63\00:12:14.20 Of course, we believe that Jonathan will be resurrected. 00:12:14.23\00:12:16.93 He loved the Lord. 00:12:16.97\00:12:18.27 He was faithful. 00:12:18.30\00:12:19.63 And then, of course, there were many Christian martyrs 00:12:19.67\00:12:21.30 throughout the Dark Ages who faced persecution. 00:12:21.34\00:12:23.91 Many of them were burned at the stake for their faith in God, 00:12:23.94\00:12:27.08 for their willingness to follow the Bible, and we believe that 00:12:27.11\00:12:29.81 they will also be resurrected at the Second Coming of Christ. 00:12:29.84\00:12:32.75 So, does it really matter? 00:12:32.78\00:12:34.02 No, I think that's something you might want to decide, maybe talk 00:12:34.05\00:12:36.89 to your family, and reach a decision. 00:12:36.92\00:12:38.79 But from a biblical perspective, God doesn't need any of these 00:12:38.82\00:12:42.82 bodies when He recreates us. 00:12:42.86\00:12:45.43 So, hopefully that helps, Henry. 00:12:45.46\00:12:47.23 Thank you for your call. 00:12:47.30\00:12:48.76 We've got Jaymee listening in Idaho. 00:12:48.80\00:12:51.47 Jaymee, welcome to the program. 00:12:51.50\00:12:53.74 Jaymee: Oh, it's so good to talk to you. 00:12:53.77\00:12:55.54 Thank you for taking my call. 00:12:55.57\00:12:57.17 Jëan: You're welcome. Thanks for calling. 00:12:57.21\00:12:58.51 Jaymee: My question is about Revelation 3:10 where it says, 00:12:58.54\00:13:02.68 "Because thou has kept the word of my patience, I also will keep 00:13:02.71\00:13:07.32 thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come 00:13:07.35\00:13:10.42 upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth." 00:13:10.45\00:13:14.46 And my friend is telling me that this is belonging to the 00:13:14.49\00:13:17.49 pre-trib and the Rapture because He will keep us from the hour of 00:13:17.53\00:13:21.06 temptation, and so we're not going to have to worry about 00:13:21.10\00:13:25.23 the tribulation. 00:13:25.27\00:13:27.17 We're going to be raptured off and not worry about it. 00:13:27.20\00:13:29.74 So, can you explain this scripture to me so I can explain 00:13:29.77\00:13:33.81 it to her? 00:13:33.84\00:13:35.14 Jëan: Yeah, happy to. 00:13:35.18\00:13:36.51 So, when you look in Revelation chapter 2 and 3, you have 00:13:36.54\00:13:38.45 Christ's message to the seven churches. 00:13:38.48\00:13:40.85 There's a series of sevens in the book Revelation. 00:13:40.88\00:13:43.22 Seven churches, seven seals, and seven trumpets. 00:13:43.25\00:13:46.65 And each of these series of sevens represent the Christian 00:13:46.69\00:13:50.13 era, starting with the time of the disciples and it goes all 00:13:50.16\00:13:53.13 the way through to those who are alive on the earth when Jesus 00:13:53.16\00:13:56.23 comes the second time, and they focus on different aspects 00:13:56.26\00:14:00.40 during the New Testament era. 00:14:00.44\00:14:02.57 For example, the churches focus on the condition of the church 00:14:02.60\00:14:06.64 during the Christian era. 00:14:06.68\00:14:08.64 So, the church went through different phases. 00:14:08.68\00:14:10.98 The early church was pure, they were faithful to the Word. 00:14:11.01\00:14:14.38 Then you have the church of Smyrna that was a persecuted 00:14:14.42\00:14:18.05 church and they were persecuted by the Romans, by pagan Romans, 00:14:18.09\00:14:23.09 and that continued until the legalization of Christianity 00:14:23.12\00:14:25.73 in 313. 00:14:25.76\00:14:27.10 And then you see a compromise that begins to take place 00:14:27.13\00:14:30.47 throughout the Dark Ages all the way up until you get to the 00:14:30.50\00:14:33.64 church of the Reformation and the truths of God's Word are 00:14:33.67\00:14:37.31 beginning to be--are understood and people are studying. 00:14:37.34\00:14:40.84 But then you get to the sixth church, which is the church of 00:14:40.88\00:14:43.81 Philadelphia, and that's where the verses that you're 00:14:43.85\00:14:45.78 asking about. 00:14:45.81\00:14:47.12 The church of Philadelphia represents the Christian church 00:14:47.15\00:14:50.92 from about 1800, maybe a little after that, 1805, 1810, there's 00:14:50.95\00:14:55.76 no hard date there, but around 1800 through to about 1850, 00:14:55.79\00:15:02.26 that's roughly the time period. 00:15:02.30\00:15:04.13 And for the church of Philadelphia, it's very 00:15:04.17\00:15:06.60 interesting, Jesus encourages the church, but He doesn't give 00:15:06.63\00:15:10.64 any word of rebuke, whereas the other churches, all of them, 00:15:10.67\00:15:14.21 except for Philadelphia and Smyrna, they receive a word of 00:15:14.24\00:15:18.18 rebuke, but Philadelphia doesn't. 00:15:18.21\00:15:20.25 In other words, it was a good church, it was doing the 00:15:20.28\00:15:21.95 right thing. 00:15:21.98\00:15:23.28 And if you look in history, in the early 1800s, there was a 00:15:23.32\00:15:25.19 great revival in studying the Word of God, both in the United 00:15:25.22\00:15:29.09 States and around the world. 00:15:29.12\00:15:31.46 The Bible was translated into more than 1500 languages, Bible 00:15:31.49\00:15:35.03 societies were established, missionaries went out to Africa 00:15:35.06\00:15:38.00 and to Asia and to the furthest parts of the world. 00:15:38.03\00:15:41.24 There was a great revival. 00:15:41.27\00:15:43.44 And here, this church--in the church, Jesus says, "I will keep 00:15:43.47\00:15:47.01 you from the hour of trial that is coming upon the whole earth." 00:15:47.04\00:15:50.25 Well, it wasn't for the church of Philadelphia to go through 00:15:50.28\00:15:53.28 the final Great Tribulation, it's for the next church, the 00:15:53.31\00:15:56.75 church of Laodicea. 00:15:56.79\00:15:58.62 Now, we're living in the time of the church of Laodicea today. 00:15:58.65\00:16:02.69 And according to Revelation chapter 12, verse 1, it says, 00:16:02.72\00:16:05.16 "When Michael stands up, there will be a time of trouble, worse 00:16:05.19\00:16:07.86 than the world has ever seen. 00:16:07.93\00:16:09.50 But at that time, thy people shall be delivered, every one 00:16:09.53\00:16:12.00 found written in the book." 00:16:12.03\00:16:13.37 So, this Great Tribulation that the Bible speaks about is yet in 00:16:13.40\00:16:16.64 the future. 00:16:16.67\00:16:18.01 The church is not raptured away before the Tribulation, but they 00:16:18.04\00:16:21.58 are preserved through the Tribulation, just like the 00:16:21.61\00:16:24.25 children of Israel when they were in Egypt. 00:16:24.28\00:16:26.05 When the ten plagues came upon Egypt, the children of Israel, 00:16:26.08\00:16:29.18 they were protected from the plagues and they were delivered 00:16:29.22\00:16:31.79 out after the plagues had done their work. 00:16:31.82\00:16:34.46 So, likewise, at the end of the seven last plagues, Jesus comes 00:16:34.49\00:16:38.09 and the righteous are delivered and taken to heaven. 00:16:38.13\00:16:40.83 So, that's the context there if you look at the seven churches. 00:16:40.86\00:16:44.57 So, it's not talking--the church of Philadelphia is not talking 00:16:44.60\00:16:47.40 about a Rapture time period. 00:16:47.44\00:16:49.10 It's rather talking about the church in history in the 00:16:49.14\00:16:51.67 early 1800s. 00:16:51.71\00:16:53.44 Jaymee, does that make sense? 00:16:53.48\00:16:55.74 Jaymee: And it's protecting us through that Tribulation and not 00:16:55.78\00:16:59.51 taking us away from it. 00:16:59.55\00:17:01.38 Jëan: That's right. 00:17:01.42\00:17:02.75 And if you look at the examples in scripture, God always 00:17:02.78\00:17:05.42 protects these people through trials. 00:17:05.45\00:17:07.69 He doesn't always deliver them from trials. 00:17:07.72\00:17:09.79 For example, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, they went through 00:17:09.82\00:17:12.89 the fiery furnace, but Jesus was with them. 00:17:12.93\00:17:15.60 Daniel went through the lions' den, but, you know, God 00:17:15.63\00:17:19.07 protected him. 00:17:19.10\00:17:20.44 So, yes, the righteous will be on the earth when the plagues 00:17:20.47\00:17:23.91 are poured out, but they will be protected and delivered from 00:17:23.94\00:17:26.47 those plagues. 00:17:26.51\00:17:27.84 And a wonderful psalm that I think speaks of this time is 00:17:27.88\00:17:30.91 Psalm 91. 00:17:30.95\00:17:32.25 And if you want to read that Psalm, it talks about how, "No 00:17:32.28\00:17:35.08 plague shall come, neither dwelling," and it's talking 00:17:35.12\00:17:37.85 about the judgment that will be coming up on the wicked at the 00:17:37.89\00:17:40.52 end of time. 00:17:40.56\00:17:41.86 All right, Jaymee, thank you so much for your call. 00:17:41.89\00:17:43.76 Great question. 00:17:43.79\00:17:45.13 We've got Oscar listening in New York. 00:17:45.16\00:17:47.46 Oscar, welcome to "Bible Answers Live." 00:17:47.50\00:17:49.96 Oscar: Yeah, thank you, yes, sir. 00:17:50.00\00:17:51.83 In book of Matthew speaks about the tares and the wheat. 00:17:51.87\00:17:55.84 So my question is--my question is this. 00:17:55.87\00:17:58.51 Are the tares those who say that Jesus is not divine or who deny 00:17:58.54\00:18:04.38 Jesus is God? 00:18:04.41\00:18:05.95 Jëan: Okay, so are the tares those who deny God or say Jesus 00:18:05.98\00:18:09.48 is not God? 00:18:09.52\00:18:10.82 Yes, that could definitely be part of it. 00:18:10.85\00:18:12.19 Really, what's being described here is two groups of people. 00:18:12.22\00:18:16.19 You have those who are the wheat and you have those who are 00:18:16.22\00:18:19.13 the tares. 00:18:19.16\00:18:20.40 The wheat represents those who are true to God, those who are 00:18:20.43\00:18:22.76 faithful, those who follow the teachings of the Bible, those 00:18:22.80\00:18:25.83 who are surrendered to Him. 00:18:25.87\00:18:27.20 They are considered the wheat. 00:18:27.24\00:18:28.80 But there are tares. 00:18:28.84\00:18:30.47 And tares could include those who claim to be Christians, but, 00:18:30.51\00:18:34.48 as you said, they don't follow with their complete heart, 00:18:34.51\00:18:38.05 they're not fully surrendered, but out of convenience they 00:18:38.08\00:18:41.42 might consider themselves a Christian. 00:18:41.45\00:18:42.95 They might even go to church. 00:18:42.98\00:18:44.55 But their heart is not right with God. 00:18:44.59\00:18:46.65 They would be considered a tare. 00:18:46.69\00:18:48.52 And then, if you read on in the parable, it says, "The time will 00:18:48.56\00:18:51.03 come where God will separate the wheat from the tares. 00:18:51.06\00:18:54.60 The wheat is gathered and placed in the barn, but the tares are 00:18:54.63\00:18:58.60 gathered and thrown in the fire." 00:18:58.63\00:19:00.17 And then Jesus says that's the way it's going to be at the end 00:19:00.20\00:19:02.34 of the earth. 00:19:02.37\00:19:03.67 He'll send His angels and they'll gather the righteous 00:19:03.71\00:19:05.87 from the earth, but the wicked will be destroyed with the 00:19:05.91\00:19:09.41 glory, or the fire, of God at the Second Coming of Christ. 00:19:09.44\00:19:12.78 So, there's a lot of categories that could make up the tares. 00:19:12.81\00:19:16.35 It's anybody who denies the truth of Jesus but also refuses 00:19:16.38\00:19:20.06 to follow the Bible or the teachings of Christ or His law. 00:19:20.09\00:19:24.49 That would also fall into that category of the tares. 00:19:24.53\00:19:27.96 You know, we do have a study guide that talks about the 00:19:28.00\00:19:29.93 Second Coming of Christ and gives a little more information 00:19:29.96\00:19:33.07 about this separation between the wheat and the tares. 00:19:33.10\00:19:35.94 We'll be happy to send that to anyone who calls and asks. 00:19:35.97\00:19:39.01 It is called, "Ultimate Deliverance," and it's about the 00:19:39.04\00:19:42.68 Second Coming of Christ. 00:19:42.71\00:19:44.15 We'll be happy to send that to anyone who calls and asks. 00:19:44.18\00:19:47.58 Again, that study guide is called, "Ultimate Deliverance." 00:19:47.62\00:19:50.35 The number to call is 800-835-6747. 00:19:50.39\00:19:54.19 Ask for this Islands. 00:20:07.54\00:20:10.44 Charlene, welcome to the program. 00:20:10.47\00:20:11.77 Charlene: Hey, good evening. 00:20:11.81\00:20:13.74 All right, my question is, the little black cloud that Elijah 00:20:13.78\00:20:16.71 saw in Mount Carmel in his fight with Ahab and the priest, that 00:20:16.75\00:20:21.12 was a sign that rain was on its way to end that three year 00:20:21.15\00:20:23.62 drought, but was it also the chariot of angels coming to pick 00:20:23.65\00:20:26.92 up Elijah in the same way that the little cloud is a sign of 00:20:26.96\00:20:29.82 the Son of Man coming, in Matthew 24? 00:20:29.86\00:20:33.23 Jëan: Yes, well, there's kind of a connection between that. 00:20:33.26\00:20:35.90 So, the small cloud--now, just to give the context of the 00:20:35.93\00:20:39.00 story, you have the showdown between Elijah, the true 00:20:39.03\00:20:42.07 prophet, and you have Ahab and the prophets of Baal, and the 00:20:42.10\00:20:45.47 people were invited to Mount Carmel. 00:20:45.51\00:20:47.71 And, at first, Elijah said, "Well, you know, you offer your 00:20:47.74\00:20:51.18 sacrifices to Baal and the god that answers with fire, you 00:20:51.21\00:20:55.38 know, we'll know he's the true God." 00:20:55.42\00:20:56.75 And of course, all day long, they try to get Baal to pour 00:20:56.79\00:21:00.52 down fire, but, of course, Baal is a false god. 00:21:00.56\00:21:02.76 Nothing happens. 00:21:02.79\00:21:04.13 Finally, Elijah rebuilds the altar that had been broken down. 00:21:04.16\00:21:07.40 He places the sacrifice, the wood, water is poured on 00:21:07.46\00:21:10.07 the altar. 00:21:10.10\00:21:11.40 Elijah prays a simple prayer, fire comes down and devours 00:21:11.43\00:21:14.00 the fire. 00:21:14.04\00:21:15.37 Those false prophets are put to death. 00:21:15.40\00:21:18.11 And then, there was a three and a half year drought leading up 00:21:18.14\00:21:20.88 to the showdown at Mount Carmel. 00:21:20.91\00:21:22.68 Then, Elijah goes and he prays because they need rain, and he 00:21:22.71\00:21:26.88 prays seven times and, finally, a small black cloud is seen on 00:21:26.92\00:21:31.02 the Mediterranean and is making its way towards the land of 00:21:31.05\00:21:34.62 Israel and that is a sign that an abundance of rain is coming. 00:21:34.66\00:21:39.59 And so, Elijah runs down and he tells Ahab, "You got to get to 00:21:39.63\00:21:42.36 the city," actually runs in front of the chariot, and there 00:21:42.40\00:21:45.43 is a massive downpour of rain that, you know, just breaks the 00:21:45.47\00:21:50.87 drought that was in Israel. 00:21:50.91\00:21:52.61 Now, is there significance to that small black cloud and 00:21:52.64\00:21:56.75 the rain? 00:21:56.78\00:21:58.08 Yes. 00:21:58.11\00:21:59.45 In the Bible, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is called the 00:21:59.48\00:22:03.02 rain, the former rain. 00:22:03.05\00:22:04.39 It occurred at Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came upon the 00:22:04.42\00:22:06.69 disciples and they were empowered to take the gospel to 00:22:06.72\00:22:09.49 the then-known world. 00:22:09.52\00:22:10.86 But there is another outpouring of the Holy Spirit just before 00:22:10.89\00:22:13.63 the close of probation. 00:22:13.66\00:22:15.20 Again, calling people to repentance, restoring true 00:22:15.23\00:22:18.63 worship, a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit. 00:22:18.67\00:22:21.00 It's described in Revelation chapter 18 as an angel that 00:22:21.04\00:22:24.57 comes down from heaven and the earth is illuminated with his 00:22:24.61\00:22:27.14 glory and he cries with a loud voice, "Babylon is fallen, is 00:22:27.18\00:22:30.41 fallen," and God will pour out His Spirit upon His people, 00:22:30.45\00:22:33.45 there will be a great revival amongst God's people, but it'll 00:22:33.48\00:22:37.19 also awaken persecution against them. 00:22:37.22\00:22:39.69 That is the last proclamation of the gospel just before probation 00:22:39.72\00:22:43.59 closes, the seven last plagues fall, and then Jesus comes to 00:22:43.63\00:22:47.66 deliver them. 00:22:47.66\00:22:48.96 So, Elijah proclaims an abundance of rain. 00:22:49.00\00:22:51.43 He then faces persecution by Jezebel. 00:22:51.47\00:22:54.14 He flees out into the wilderness, but God sustains 00:22:54.17\00:22:57.24 him, his faith is tested, and then he is delivered. 00:22:57.27\00:23:00.51 He is taken to heaven without seeing death. 00:23:00.54\00:23:02.81 That is a parallel of the experience of God's people in 00:23:02.84\00:23:05.38 the last days. 00:23:05.41\00:23:06.75 They receive the latter rain, they proclaim God's last 00:23:06.78\00:23:08.72 warning message. 00:23:08.75\00:23:10.09 Yes, persecution comes, probation closes, their faith is 00:23:10.12\00:23:13.19 tested, but God delivers them and they are translated to 00:23:13.22\00:23:17.03 heaven without seeing death, those who are alive at 00:23:17.06\00:23:19.89 that point. 00:23:19.93\00:23:21.20 So yes, a definite parallel in those two stories. 00:23:21.23\00:23:23.16 Does that make sense, Charlene? 00:23:23.20\00:23:25.37 Charlene: Yes. 00:23:25.40\00:23:26.70 Jëan: All right, let's see. 00:23:26.74\00:23:28.07 We got Cedric listening in Florida. 00:23:28.10\00:23:29.40 Cedric, welcome to the program. 00:23:29.44\00:23:31.04 Cedric: Thank you, Brother Ross. 00:23:31.07\00:23:32.37 How are you doing today? 00:23:32.41\00:23:33.74 Jëan: I'm doing well, thank you. 00:23:33.78\00:23:35.54 Cedric: So, my question for you, my brother, is regarding to 00:23:35.58\00:23:39.81 Matthew 27, verses 24 and 25. 00:23:39.85\00:23:43.62 Jëan: Okay, let me read it for those who are listening and then 00:23:43.65\00:23:46.55 ask the question about it. 00:23:46.59\00:23:47.82 Matthew 27, beginning in verse 24, it says, "When Pilate saw 00:23:47.86\00:23:51.39 that he could not prevail at all, but rather that a tumult 00:23:51.43\00:23:54.46 was rising, he took water, he washed his hands before the 00:23:54.46\00:23:57.33 multitude, saying, 'I am innocent of the blood of this 00:23:57.37\00:23:59.60 just person. 00:23:59.63\00:24:01.04 You see to it.' 00:24:01.07\00:24:02.37 And all the people answered and said, 'His blood be on us and 00:24:02.40\00:24:04.94 our children.'" 00:24:04.97\00:24:06.27 All right, and your question on that? 00:24:06.31\00:24:08.91 Cedric: We--should we be careful what we pray for? 00:24:08.94\00:24:12.21 Jëan: Well, yeah, we do want to be careful of what we pray, but 00:24:12.25\00:24:15.45 this was not so much a prayer from them, but declaring that, 00:24:15.48\00:24:22.19 you know, we don't want Jesus. 00:24:22.22\00:24:23.63 Even if it means that His blood is going to be on us and our 00:24:23.66\00:24:26.96 children, we don't care. 00:24:27.00\00:24:28.33 We don't want Jesus. 00:24:28.36\00:24:29.76 Now, of course, unfortunately, that was fulfilled. 00:24:29.80\00:24:33.77 That judgment did come upon those who crucified Christ and 00:24:33.80\00:24:37.91 upon that generation. 00:24:37.94\00:24:39.77 Forty years later you had the Romans in 70 AD that came and 00:24:39.81\00:24:43.18 surrounded the city of Jerusalem and by the end of that, not only 00:24:43.21\00:24:47.22 was the city completely destroyed in the temple, but 00:24:47.25\00:24:49.48 thousands and thousands of Jews were killed and many more were 00:24:49.52\00:24:53.79 taken as slaves back to Rome and scattered throughout the 00:24:53.82\00:24:56.86 Roman Empire. 00:24:56.89\00:24:58.29 So, it was a terrible thing. 00:24:58.33\00:25:00.26 Now, why did all those bad things happen to them? 00:25:00.30\00:25:02.43 Well, if you reject God's protection, you're left at the 00:25:02.46\00:25:06.37 control of God's enemy, the devil, and the devil hates 00:25:06.40\00:25:11.47 God's people. 00:25:11.51\00:25:12.87 And so, when they rejected Jesus as their Messiah--remember, when 00:25:12.91\00:25:17.21 Jesus looked over Jerusalem, He wept. 00:25:17.25\00:25:19.05 He said, "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that kills the 00:25:19.08\00:25:21.05 prophets, and those that are sent unto you. 00:25:21.08\00:25:23.32 How I've longed to gather you together, even as a hen gathers 00:25:23.35\00:25:25.89 the chicks under her wings, but you would not come." 00:25:25.92\00:25:28.99 As a result of them rejecting Jesus, God's protection was 00:25:29.02\00:25:33.23 withdrawn and the Romans came upon them, and that verse was 00:25:33.26\00:25:37.47 very literally fulfilled in the destruction of Jerusalem in 00:25:37.50\00:25:40.80 70 AD. 00:25:40.84\00:25:42.24 And of course, throughout history, throughout the last 00:25:42.27\00:25:45.17 2000 years, it seems as though the Jewish people have faced all 00:25:45.21\00:25:48.48 kinds of persecution and trials. 00:25:48.51\00:25:51.85 Now, that doesn't mean that individual Jews, of course, they 00:25:51.88\00:25:54.25 can be saved, individual. 00:25:54.28\00:25:55.65 Doesn't matter whether you're a Jew or Gentile, if you receive 00:25:55.68\00:25:58.22 Jesus, you're part of Abraham's seed and you are saved. 00:25:58.25\00:26:02.06 But as a nation, as a people, they have faced lots of 00:26:02.09\00:26:06.03 persecution over the past 2000 years. 00:26:06.06\00:26:08.63 Friends, we're taking a short break, but we'll be back with 00:26:08.66\00:26:10.90 more Bible questions. 00:26:10.93\00:26:12.93 male announcer: Stay tuned. 00:26:17.67\00:26:18.97 "Bible Answers Live" will return the world's cities 00:27:12.06\00:27:15.26 into chaos. 00:27:15.30\00:27:16.60 In response, thinking people everywhere are wondering if it 00:27:16.63\00:27:20.50 might be a good time to locate their families outside of the 00:27:20.54\00:27:24.04 congested metropolitan areas. 00:27:24.07\00:27:26.07 But how should a believer respond? 00:27:26.11\00:27:28.04 How do we address the need to reach the 00:30:51.88\00:30:54.25 Larry: Yeah. 00:30:54.28\00:30:55.52 Jëan: Okay, Jesus is speaking, He says, "Then let those who 00:30:55.55\00:30:57.15 are in Judea flee to the mountains. 00:30:57.19\00:30:59.65 Let him not--let him who is on the housetop not go down to take 00:30:59.69\00:31:02.46 anything out of his house. 00:31:02.49\00:31:03.73 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes." 00:31:03.76\00:31:07.73 All right. 00:31:07.76\00:31:09.03 And what was the other verse? 00:31:09.06\00:31:10.37 Larry: 1 Kings chapter 17, verses 2 to 6. 00:31:10.40\00:31:15.60 Jëan: 1 Kings chapter 17, verse 2, it says, "Then the word of 00:31:15.64\00:31:19.07 the Lord came to Him, saying, 'Get away from here and turn 00:31:19.11\00:31:22.11 eastward, and hide by the brook Cherith, 00:31:22.14\00:31:24.71 which flows into the Jordan. 00:31:24.75\00:31:26.92 And it will be that you shall drink from the brook, and I have 00:31:26.95\00:31:29.62 commanded the ravens to feed you there.' 00:31:29.65\00:31:32.15 So he went and did according to the word of the Lord, for he 00:31:32.19\00:31:34.99 went and stayed by the brook Cherith, which flowed into 00:31:35.02\00:31:37.56 the Jordan. 00:31:37.59\00:31:38.89 And the ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and 00:31:38.93\00:31:41.43 bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook." 00:31:41.46\00:31:44.80 Okay, and your question about that? 00:31:44.83\00:31:48.10 Larry: So we know the flesh is actually the fruit, not meat, 00:31:48.14\00:31:50.81 but my question is, is the Lord going to take care of us like 00:31:50.84\00:31:54.58 that too, then, when we have to flee? 00:31:54.61\00:31:57.15 Like, because I know--because with, you know, Israelites 00:31:57.18\00:32:00.18 didn't have to worry about changing their clothes, shoes. 00:32:00.22\00:32:03.42 Jëan: Right. 00:32:03.45\00:32:04.75 When the children of Israel were delivered and taken from Egypt 00:32:04.79\00:32:06.89 to the Promised Land, throughout the wilderness wanderings, God 00:32:06.92\00:32:09.42 provided for them both food, manna, and He also provided for 00:32:09.46\00:32:13.03 them all their water. 00:32:13.06\00:32:14.50 It spoke about water coming from a rock. 00:32:14.56\00:32:16.97 And here you find God taking care of His prophet Elijah when 00:32:17.00\00:32:21.27 he had to flee out, when there was this terrible drought and he 00:32:21.30\00:32:24.77 was being persecuted by Ahab and Jezebel. 00:32:24.81\00:32:27.04 God provided for him. 00:32:27.08\00:32:29.31 So likewise at the end of time. 00:32:29.34\00:32:30.75 God is going to provide for His people. 00:32:30.78\00:32:33.21 The Bible says that your bread and water shall be sure, meaning 00:32:33.25\00:32:36.79 that God'll provide your needs. 00:32:36.82\00:32:38.92 Doesn't mean that you're going to, you know, have a ten course 00:32:38.95\00:32:41.89 meal every day, but your bread and your water will be sure. 00:32:41.92\00:32:44.99 God will provide and take care of His people. 00:32:45.03\00:32:47.23 And you know, I'd rather be in the mountains in a desolate 00:32:47.23\00:32:50.47 region with bread and water and with the blessing and the hope 00:32:50.50\00:32:55.04 of the Second Coming than living in a palace surrounded by all 00:32:55.07\00:32:58.84 the dainties and then receive the seven last plagues and end 00:32:58.87\00:33:02.24 up losing your eternal life. 00:33:02.28\00:33:04.15 So, a little bit with God's blessing is a much better than a 00:33:04.18\00:33:07.18 lot without God's blessing. 00:33:07.22\00:33:08.85 So, yes, God promises to provide and take care of us in that time 00:33:08.88\00:33:13.05 of trouble. 00:33:13.09\00:33:14.42 Does that help, Larry? 00:33:14.46\00:33:16.26 Larry: Yes, it does. 00:33:16.29\00:33:17.63 Jëan: Okay, thank you. 00:33:17.66\00:33:18.96 You know, I mentioned a Psalm a little earlier that is good 00:33:18.99\00:33:21.10 to read. 00:33:21.13\00:33:22.43 Psalm 91 I think describes the experience of God's people 00:33:22.46\00:33:24.83 during the plagues when they are poured out and how God will 00:33:24.87\00:33:27.50 provide for them and take care of them. 00:33:27.54\00:33:29.34 It's another wonderful promise in scripture. 00:33:29.37\00:33:31.64 Our next caller is Kim, listening in Iowa. 00:33:31.67\00:33:34.24 Kim, welcome to the program. 00:33:34.28\00:33:35.58 You got a question. 00:33:35.61\00:33:37.08 Kim: I do have a question. 00:33:37.11\00:33:39.51 I'm not quite sure how to phrase this. 00:33:39.55\00:33:41.38 I was just wondering if it's biblical or not to bring your 00:33:41.42\00:33:47.76 pets into the sanctuary for your worship service. 00:33:47.79\00:33:52.56 Jëan: All right, is it okay to bring-- 00:33:52.59\00:33:53.93 Kim: This is happening at-- 00:33:53.96\00:33:55.23 Jëan: At your church? 00:33:55.26\00:33:56.60 Now, you're talking about like, you know, like dogs, I guess? 00:33:56.63\00:33:59.83 Bringing a pet dog to church? 00:33:59.87\00:34:01.70 Well, you know, I think in the case of a service animal, you 00:34:01.74\00:34:05.91 know, if a person is blind and they need a service animal to 00:34:05.94\00:34:09.61 guide them when they come to church, usually those dogs are 00:34:09.64\00:34:12.85 very well trained. 00:34:12.88\00:34:14.58 They've been trained to be in public places. 00:34:14.62\00:34:17.22 They behave, they're quiet, they will sit beside the person, and 00:34:17.25\00:34:21.59 they serve a very specific purpose, that of guiding a 00:34:21.62\00:34:25.26 person that has a disability, in this case, somebody that 00:34:25.29\00:34:28.76 is blind. 00:34:28.80\00:34:30.13 But just to bring dogs and cats and birds into the sanctuary, 00:34:30.17\00:34:34.24 just for the sake of bringing them to church, I think we want 00:34:34.27\00:34:38.11 to be careful. 00:34:38.14\00:34:39.44 First of all, the church is a holy place and we want to treat 00:34:39.47\00:34:41.91 it with reverence. 00:34:41.94\00:34:43.35 We don't want to be running around in the church. 00:34:43.38\00:34:45.65 We got to tell the children, "Don't run in the sanctuary. 00:34:45.68\00:34:48.05 This is a holy place." 00:34:48.08\00:34:49.65 We usually dress up when we go to church because we are 00:34:49.68\00:34:52.32 entering into the presence of God. 00:34:52.35\00:34:53.89 It's an act of worship. 00:34:53.92\00:34:55.56 We don't talk loudly in the church. 00:34:55.59\00:34:58.56 We talk quietly and we talk reverently because we are aware 00:34:58.59\00:35:03.30 of God's presence. 00:35:03.33\00:35:04.67 So, taking all that into consideration, we probably don't 00:35:04.70\00:35:07.14 want anything in the church that is going to distract from the 00:35:07.17\00:35:10.17 reason why we are there, that of worship. 00:35:10.21\00:35:12.47 And to bring a pet to church or a dog or some animal that might 00:35:12.51\00:35:16.68 bark or others will see it or children will be distracted by 00:35:16.71\00:35:19.68 it, I don't think it's a good practice. 00:35:19.71\00:35:21.92 Now, if you're doing a children's story and you're 00:35:21.95\00:35:24.45 illustrating the children's story and you bring a little 00:35:24.49\00:35:26.86 baby chick in and, you know, you show the children the chick and 00:35:26.89\00:35:30.53 you talk about the animal or so on, and then you take it out, 00:35:30.56\00:35:33.09 that's probably fine. 00:35:33.13\00:35:34.40 But on a regular basis to bring your pets to church, I would 00:35:34.46\00:35:38.33 discourage that. 00:35:38.37\00:35:39.67 I know sometimes folks are very attached to their animals and 00:35:39.70\00:35:43.04 they want to take them everywhere. 00:35:43.07\00:35:44.37 But when it comes to church, I would say, you know, leave them 00:35:44.41\00:35:46.91 for a couple of hours at home or in a safe place where they're 00:35:46.94\00:35:49.58 taken care of. 00:35:49.61\00:35:50.95 That way, you're not a distraction to other people that 00:35:50.98\00:35:53.52 come to church. 00:35:53.55\00:35:54.85 Does that help, Kim? 00:35:54.88\00:35:56.99 Kim: Yeah, it does. 00:35:57.02\00:35:58.32 Thank you so much. I appreciate it. 00:35:58.35\00:36:01.09 Jëan: All right, thanks for your call. 00:36:01.12\00:36:02.46 Our next caller that we have is Lyn, listening in Arizona. 00:36:02.49\00:36:06.43 Let's see. Lyn, welcome to the program. 00:36:06.46\00:36:08.46 Lyn: Yes, thank you. Hi, there, Pastor Jëan. 00:36:08.50\00:36:10.77 Jëan: Hi. Thanks for calling. 00:36:10.80\00:36:12.47 Lyn: Listen, this--a lot of people may not even observe 00:36:12.50\00:36:16.24 this, but back in--when I was younger, and I'm 60, 00:36:16.27\00:36:19.01 always--well, I'm 67 now, and when I was younger, like, in my 00:36:19.04\00:36:24.61 20s and I went to church with my family, we were dedicated 00:36:24.65\00:36:28.18 Christians--but make a long story short, on Easter they 00:36:28.22\00:36:31.42 celebrated three days, you know, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and he 00:36:31.45\00:36:35.52 rose on Monday, because a lot of businesses I remember, even when 00:36:35.56\00:36:39.33 I was 20, and, you know, would close on Easter Monday. 00:36:39.36\00:36:43.57 And my dad had an insurance agency and he closed on Good 00:36:43.60\00:36:46.70 Friday and Easter Monday for several years. 00:36:46.74\00:36:49.80 And what do you say about that? 00:36:49.84\00:36:51.94 Jëan: If you look at the, you know, the Easter weekend or the 00:36:51.97\00:36:54.38 Passover, if you look at the biblical record, of course, 00:36:54.41\00:36:57.05 Jesus died on Friday. 00:36:57.08\00:36:58.85 He died about 3 in the afternoon, and He was then 00:36:58.88\00:37:03.02 placed in--or He was on the cross and He said He--right 00:37:03.05\00:37:06.62 around 3 o'clock, I think closer to a little 00:37:06.65\00:37:08.62 after that, Christ died. 00:37:08.66\00:37:09.99 Then He was placed in the tomb. 00:37:10.03\00:37:11.26 He was there Friday evening, He was there all day Saturday, and 00:37:11.29\00:37:14.40 then He rose early Sunday morning. 00:37:14.46\00:37:17.93 So, you know, that's the biblical account and you can, of 00:37:17.97\00:37:20.54 course, read that in the Gospels, that makes it 00:37:20.57\00:37:22.14 pretty clear. 00:37:22.17\00:37:23.51 Now, what we call Easter today doesn't exactly fall on those 00:37:23.54\00:37:27.24 same days because, you know, dates in the calendar move from 00:37:27.28\00:37:31.85 day to day, just like your birthday. 00:37:31.88\00:37:33.28 It moves. 00:37:33.31\00:37:34.62 The 25th of December moves throughout the week if it's 00:37:34.65\00:37:37.95 based on a date on the calendar. 00:37:37.99\00:37:40.29 But, you know, the medieval church was the first to kind of 00:37:40.32\00:37:42.86 select a weekend close to the Passover and said, "All right, 00:37:42.89\00:37:45.19 we're going to celebrate Easter on this weekend," and they came 00:37:45.23\00:37:48.26 up with the idea of something special on Sunday. 00:37:48.30\00:37:50.83 Now, it's probably okay to talk about the Resurrection, 00:37:50.87\00:37:53.84 absolutely, and the death of Christ, that is important, but 00:37:53.87\00:37:56.94 no way in the Bible does it tell us to make those days holy days. 00:37:56.97\00:38:01.14 The only day holy, within that weekend, was the seventh-day 00:38:01.18\00:38:04.11 Sabbath, but that came because of the Ten Commandments. 00:38:04.15\00:38:06.82 But Friday is not a holy day, neither is Sunday a holy day, 00:38:06.85\00:38:11.15 nor Monday if, you know, your calendar--first day of the week 00:38:11.19\00:38:14.89 starts on Monday. 00:38:14.92\00:38:16.29 But to remember the death, burial, and Resurrection of 00:38:16.32\00:38:18.96 Christ around the Passover, around Easter time is--there's 00:38:18.99\00:38:22.33 nothing wrong with that. 00:38:22.36\00:38:23.80 So, yeah, if you're going to follow the Bible, Jesus rose on 00:38:23.83\00:38:26.84 Sunday morning, early in the morning, as the Bible says. 00:38:26.87\00:38:31.17 Hope that helps, Lyn. 00:38:31.21\00:38:32.84 Next caller that we have is Robert, listening in Washington. 00:38:32.87\00:38:35.58 Robert, welcome to the program. 00:38:35.61\00:38:37.65 Robert: Hello, Pastor Ross. 00:38:37.68\00:38:38.98 Jëan: Yeah, welcome. 00:38:39.01\00:38:40.35 Robert: Was interested in knowing about Revelation 10:10 00:38:40.38\00:38:44.65 and 11. 00:38:44.69\00:38:45.99 I know Revelation is a specialty of yours. 00:38:46.02\00:38:48.42 I guess I want to focus on verse 11, although you might have to 00:38:48.46\00:38:51.66 explain verse 10, though. 00:38:51.69\00:38:54.50 I was interested in what it means by, "You must prophesy 00:38:54.56\00:38:57.43 again about many people, nations, tongues, and kings." 00:38:57.47\00:39:01.24 Might need to talk to--about verse 10, too. 00:39:01.27\00:39:03.51 Jëan: Sure. I'll be happy to. 00:39:03.54\00:39:05.27 Yeah, let me give the background. 00:39:05.31\00:39:06.61 Thanks for the question. 00:39:06.64\00:39:07.94 I do like the book of Revelation. 00:39:07.98\00:39:09.28 It's one of my favorites. 00:39:09.31\00:39:10.61 Revelation chapter 10. 00:39:10.65\00:39:11.95 You find at the beginning of the chapter an angel coming down 00:39:11.98\00:39:14.28 from heaven. 00:39:14.32\00:39:15.65 The angel has--represents a messenger or a heaven brought 00:39:15.68\00:39:19.65 message, and he has a little book that's open in his hand, 00:39:19.69\00:39:22.59 and he sets his one foot upon the earth and his other foot 00:39:22.62\00:39:24.79 upon the sea. 00:39:24.83\00:39:26.13 And then he lifts his hand towards heaven and swears by Him 00:39:26.16\00:39:28.60 who lives forever and ever, who created the heavens and things 00:39:28.63\00:39:30.83 that are there in the earth, and the things that are there in the 00:39:30.87\00:39:33.23 sea, and the things that are therein, that there should be 00:39:33.27\00:39:35.90 time no longer. 00:39:35.94\00:39:37.27 But at the sounding of the seventh trumpet, when the angel 00:39:37.31\00:39:40.24 begins to sound, then the mystery of God will be revealed. 00:39:40.28\00:39:43.58 Now, the whole chapter Revelation chapter 10 is a 00:39:43.61\00:39:45.85 description of a great advent awakening that began in the 00:39:45.88\00:39:50.59 early 1800s, but really culminated around 1843, 1844 00:39:50.62\00:39:56.22 when people began to study the little book of the prophet 00:39:56.26\00:39:58.93 Daniel in the Old Testament. 00:39:58.96\00:40:00.90 And based upon their study of the little book of Daniel, in 00:40:00.93\00:40:03.67 particular Daniel 8:14, they read about something called 2300 00:40:03.70\00:40:09.04 day prophecy. 00:40:09.07\00:40:10.37 Now, one prophetic day equals one literal year, and 2300 days 00:40:10.41\00:40:13.84 is literally 2300 years. 00:40:13.88\00:40:16.51 They also found in Daniel chapter 9 that the starting 00:40:16.54\00:40:19.11 point of the 2300 years was with the decree to restore and 00:40:19.15\00:40:23.18 rebuild Jerusalem, which went into effect in 457 BC, 457 BC. 00:40:23.22\00:40:29.09 And so, they just did the math and, based upon the calculation, 00:40:29.12\00:40:32.23 that time period would end 1844, 1843 they initially thought, but 00:40:32.26\00:40:38.47 further calculations--they realized 1844. 00:40:38.50\00:40:41.97 Well, they thought that the cleansing of the sanctuary that 00:40:42.00\00:40:44.54 was spoken of in Daniel chapter 8, verse 14 was the cleansing of 00:40:44.57\00:40:48.14 the earth by fire at the Second Coming of Christ. 00:40:48.18\00:40:51.18 So, they thought Jesus was going to come. 00:40:51.21\00:40:54.02 And of course, this led to a great religious awakening. 00:40:54.05\00:40:56.75 That's why, when you read on in Revelation chapter 10, John is 00:40:56.79\00:40:59.55 told to take the little book out of the angel's hand, which 00:40:59.59\00:41:02.09 represents the book of Daniel, to eat it up. 00:41:02.12\00:41:05.06 It would be sweet in his mouth, but it would make his 00:41:05.09\00:41:07.60 stomach bitter. 00:41:07.60\00:41:08.90 To eat the book means to study it, to receive it. 00:41:08.93\00:41:11.17 Jeremiah 15:16 says, "Thy words were found, and I did eat them; 00:41:11.20\00:41:15.60 and they were unto me the joy and the rejoicing of 00:41:15.64\00:41:17.21 my heart..." 00:41:17.24\00:41:18.54 So, to eat the book means to study it, it means to 00:41:18.57\00:41:20.14 receive it. 00:41:20.18\00:41:21.48 But then, after they had that sweet hope of the soon coming of 00:41:21.51\00:41:24.71 Christ, when Jesus didn't come as they had expected, they were 00:41:24.75\00:41:28.72 bitterly disappointed. 00:41:28.75\00:41:30.35 It was only then that they began to realize that the cleansing of 00:41:30.39\00:41:33.12 the sanctuary wasn't Jesus coming back to the earth, but 00:41:33.15\00:41:35.92 rather that Christ was doing His final cleansing work, taking 00:41:35.96\00:41:39.96 place in heaven, called the judgment, the pre-advent 00:41:40.00\00:41:43.13 judgment, when a cleansing work was to take place on the earth, 00:41:43.16\00:41:47.57 the cleansing of the heart from sin, the cleansing of the church 00:41:47.60\00:41:50.37 from error, the proclamation of the truths of scripture. 00:41:50.41\00:41:53.98 That's why you find in verse 11 of Revelation chapter 10 after 00:41:54.01\00:41:58.61 the book is eaten, then the message is given to John and 00:41:58.65\00:42:01.65 John's playing the part of these early advent believers. 00:42:01.68\00:42:04.72 "You must prophesy again." 00:42:04.75\00:42:07.19 So they began to realize that their mission wasn't over, it 00:42:07.22\00:42:09.56 had scarcely begun. 00:42:09.59\00:42:11.33 What was it that they were to prophesy? 00:42:11.36\00:42:12.86 Well, if you look in Revelation chapter 14, beginning in verse 00:42:12.89\00:42:15.93 6, you have what we call the three angels messages, "The 00:42:15.96\00:42:19.53 everlasting gospel that is to go to every nation, kindred, 00:42:19.57\00:42:22.30 tongue, and people, saying with a loud voice, 'Fear God, give 00:42:22.34\00:42:25.31 glory to Him, the hour of His judgment has come." 00:42:25.34\00:42:28.54 That ties in with what we read in Daniel. 00:42:28.58\00:42:31.18 And then, of course, it talks about Babylon is fallen. 00:42:31.21\00:42:33.21 We need to worship the Creator, Babylon is fallen, and warns 00:42:33.25\00:42:36.18 about the beast's power and its mark. 00:42:36.22\00:42:38.72 So yes, Revelation chapter 10 is a great study. 00:42:38.75\00:42:41.29 I just kind of flew through it, but that gives you the context. 00:42:41.32\00:42:44.19 So, it met its fulfillment around 1843, 1844 more 00:42:44.23\00:42:48.13 specifically if you want to date for Revelation chapter 10. 00:42:48.16\00:42:51.70 Robert, does that help? 00:42:51.73\00:42:53.37 Robert: Yeah, thank you. That makes a lot of sense. 00:42:53.40\00:42:55.87 Jëan: All right. Thanks for calling. 00:42:55.90\00:42:57.67 Next caller that we have. 00:42:57.71\00:42:59.37 Ava-Joe in Georgia. 00:42:59.41\00:43:01.64 Ava-Joe, welcome to the program. 00:43:01.68\00:43:04.11 Ava-Joe: Hi, good evening, Pastor Ross. 00:43:04.15\00:43:05.65 How are you? 00:43:05.68\00:43:07.02 Jëan: I'm good. Thanks for calling. 00:43:07.05\00:43:08.35 Ava-Joe: Thank you for having me. 00:43:08.38\00:43:09.68 I've been listening to you guys and I really appreciate 00:43:09.72\00:43:12.42 everything that Amazing Facts does for the entire world. 00:43:12.45\00:43:15.86 But my question is, for those that are taken with God when 00:43:15.89\00:43:21.50 Jesus first comes, I know that the wicked will perish, but will 00:43:21.53\00:43:25.30 they be resurrected for the second judgment or do they just 00:43:25.33\00:43:31.71 remain perished? 00:43:31.74\00:43:33.58 Jëan: All right, now, are you talking about--you're talking 00:43:33.61\00:43:35.41 about the righteous when Jesus comes the second time, they are 00:43:35.44\00:43:38.25 resurrected and taken to heaven or are you talking about a 00:43:38.28\00:43:41.55 special resurrection? 00:43:41.58\00:43:43.45 Ava-Joe: The second--the judgment. 00:43:43.49\00:43:44.79 The second--the judgment of damnation. 00:43:44.82\00:43:47.69 Jëan: Okay, all right, yes. Let me give you the context. 00:43:47.72\00:43:50.19 So, the Bible tells us that when Jesus comes the second time, 00:43:50.23\00:43:53.93 you've got three categories of people, you've got the dead, 00:43:53.96\00:43:57.17 you've got the dead righteous, and you've got the dead 00:43:57.20\00:44:00.64 unrighteous in their graves, and you've got the living righteous 00:44:00.67\00:44:05.37 and you've got the living wicked. 00:44:05.41\00:44:07.38 So, maybe four categories. 00:44:07.41\00:44:09.08 So, when Jesus comes the second time, the living righteous will 00:44:09.11\00:44:13.92 be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, they'll be 00:44:13.95\00:44:16.85 caught up to meet Jesus in the air. 00:44:16.89\00:44:18.85 The graves of the righteous dead will be opened and they will be 00:44:18.89\00:44:23.66 resurrected with their immortal bodies. 00:44:23.69\00:44:26.13 Together with the living righteous they will meet Jesus 00:44:26.16\00:44:29.06 in the air. 00:44:29.10\00:44:30.57 And then, the wicked dead, who are in their graves, they remain 00:44:30.60\00:44:34.87 in their graves. 00:44:34.90\00:44:36.20 But the wicked who are alive when Jesus comes a second time, 00:44:36.24\00:44:39.81 they are destroyed with the brightness of Christ's coming. 00:44:39.84\00:44:42.61 So, you have the righteous with Jesus in the air and you have 00:44:42.64\00:44:46.31 the wicked all destroyed on earth. 00:44:46.35\00:44:48.18 Then, the righteous go to heaven for 1000 years, according to 00:44:48.22\00:44:50.82 Revelation chapter 20. 00:44:50.85\00:44:52.09 Talks about the Millennium, 1000 year reign with Christ, and the 00:44:52.12\00:44:55.52 righteous will be with Jesus in heaven. 00:44:55.56\00:44:57.63 At the end of the 1000 years, the New Jerusalem, Revelation 00:44:57.66\00:45:01.36 chapter 21, the New Jerusalem comes down from God out of 00:45:01.40\00:45:04.50 heaven, and it's at that point that Jesus sets His feet on the 00:45:04.53\00:45:08.00 Mount of Olives and it opens up and forms a great valley. 00:45:08.04\00:45:10.81 That's Zachariah that talks about that. 00:45:10.84\00:45:13.34 The New Jerusalem comes to rest, and then all the wicked 00:45:13.38\00:45:16.44 are resurrected. 00:45:16.48\00:45:18.01 Revelation chapter 20 calls this the second resurrection. 00:45:18.05\00:45:21.88 So, the righteous are resurrected at the First 00:45:21.92\00:45:24.12 Resurrection at the beginning of the 1000 years, and the wicked 00:45:24.15\00:45:26.49 are resurrected at the end of the 1000 years called the 00:45:26.52\00:45:28.66 Second Resurrection. 00:45:28.69\00:45:30.03 That's what we call the Great White Throne Judgment, 00:45:30.06\00:45:32.46 Revelation chapter 20. 00:45:32.49\00:45:34.50 And then, at the end of that judgment, the wicked mount their 00:45:34.56\00:45:37.03 attack upon the New Jerusalem, fire comes down and 00:45:37.07\00:45:40.30 devours them. 00:45:40.34\00:45:41.67 That is the final destruction of the wicked, otherwise known as 00:45:41.70\00:45:44.51 the lake of fire. 00:45:44.54\00:45:45.87 It is where the wicked and the earth is cleansed from sin. 00:45:45.91\00:45:49.48 And then, Jesus makes a new heavens and a new earth. 00:45:49.51\00:45:53.52 So, that's kind of the breakdown of the First Resurrection and 00:45:53.55\00:45:58.02 the Second Resurrection. 00:45:58.05\00:45:59.49 Does that make sense? 00:45:59.52\00:46:01.09 Ava-Joe: Yes, thank you so very much. 00:46:01.12\00:46:03.43 Jëan: All right, you're welcome. 00:46:03.46\00:46:04.79 You know, we do have a study guide that talks about the 00:46:04.83\00:46:06.43 1000 years. 00:46:06.46\00:46:07.76 It's called, "1000 Years of Peace," and anyone wanting to 00:46:07.76\00:46:10.63 learn more about this, you read about it in Revelation 00:46:10.67\00:46:12.70 chapter 20. 00:46:12.73\00:46:14.07 The number to call for that is 800-835-6747 and you can ask for 00:46:14.10\00:46:18.94 that study guide. 00:46:18.97\00:46:20.31 It's called, "1000 Years of Peace." 00:46:20.34\00:46:21.71 The number, again, is 800-835-6747 or you can dial 00:46:21.74\00:46:26.92 pound 250 on your smartphone and just say, "Bible Answers Live" 00:46:26.95\00:46:31.25 and ask for it by name, "1000 Years of Peace." 00:46:31.29\00:46:34.16 We've got James listening in Michigan. 00:46:34.19\00:46:36.56 Detroit, Michigan. 00:46:36.59\00:46:37.89 James, welcome to "Bible Answers Live." 00:46:37.93\00:46:39.73 James: Hello, Pastor Ross. 00:46:39.76\00:46:41.06 How are you and thank you for taking my call. 00:46:41.10\00:46:43.10 Jëan: I'm doing well. Thanks for calling. 00:46:43.13\00:46:45.23 James: Good. 00:46:45.27\00:46:46.74 My question is, was Satan cast out of heaven before the earth 00:46:46.77\00:46:52.84 was created or after the earth was created? 00:46:52.87\00:46:56.75 Jëan: Okay, the war in heaven that you read about in 00:46:56.78\00:46:59.65 Revelation chapter 12, it says there was--let me just read it. 00:46:59.68\00:47:02.68 It's right here. 00:47:02.72\00:47:04.05 Revelation 12, verse 7. 00:47:04.09\00:47:05.39 It says, "And war broke out in heaven: 00:47:05.42\00:47:07.49 Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon 00:47:07.52\00:47:10.39 and his angels fought..." 00:47:10.43\00:47:11.96 So, there's war in heaven between Michael. 00:47:11.99\00:47:13.93 Michael is the prophetic name of Jesus. 00:47:13.96\00:47:16.36 They're not saying Jesus is an angel. 00:47:16.40\00:47:18.57 Michael just simply means--refers to Jesus in the 00:47:18.60\00:47:21.84 prophetic sense. 00:47:21.87\00:47:23.34 So, Jesus and His angels fought with the dragon, or Satan and 00:47:23.37\00:47:27.24 his angels. 00:47:27.28\00:47:28.61 So, one third of the angels joined Satan in his rebellion 00:47:28.64\00:47:30.61 against God. 00:47:30.65\00:47:31.98 We know that from Revelation chapter 12, but eventually the 00:47:32.01\00:47:35.98 devil was cast out of heaven and he sort of went around the 00:47:36.02\00:47:39.29 universe looking for a place that he could kind of establish 00:47:39.32\00:47:42.09 as his headquarters in his rebellion against God. 00:47:42.12\00:47:46.33 Right around that time, and the Bible doesn't tell us how much 00:47:46.36\00:47:48.96 time passed between the war in heaven and the creation 00:47:49.00\00:47:52.60 of earth. 00:47:52.63\00:47:53.94 It probably wasn't too long. 00:47:53.97\00:47:55.40 But after the devil and his angels are cast out of heaven, 00:47:55.44\00:47:57.74 then God creates planet Earth, and the devil looks, and here's 00:47:57.77\00:48:02.04 Adam and Eve and he thinks, why, if I can only get them to side 00:48:02.08\00:48:05.41 with me, then I can make the earth my headquarters. 00:48:05.45\00:48:09.75 And that's when he came and he appeared as a serpent in the 00:48:09.78\00:48:12.79 garden of Eden. 00:48:12.82\00:48:14.16 And of course, you know the story, he is able to deceive 00:48:14.19\00:48:15.79 Adam and Eve to trust--or distrust God, disobey God, and 00:48:15.82\00:48:20.30 to believe him. 00:48:20.33\00:48:21.63 They were deceived. 00:48:21.66\00:48:22.96 Of course, that opened up the floodgates of sorrow and death. 00:48:23.00\00:48:26.27 But God did not abandon mankind. 00:48:26.30\00:48:28.50 Of course, the plan of redemption also began through 00:48:28.54\00:48:31.61 the sacrificing of the Lamb, which ultimately pointed to 00:48:31.64\00:48:34.78 Jesus that would take away the sins of the world. 00:48:34.81\00:48:37.28 So, yes, Satan is cast out of heaven before Creation. 00:48:37.31\00:48:40.95 We don't know how much--or how much time elapsed, but then he 00:48:40.98\00:48:44.65 was able to come and deceive Adam and Eve. 00:48:44.69\00:48:47.29 Does that help, James? 00:48:47.32\00:48:48.79 James: Yes, thank you so much. 00:48:48.82\00:48:50.59 That answered my question. 00:48:50.63\00:48:52.33 I appreciate the call and thank you for Amazing Facts. 00:48:52.36\00:48:55.63 Jëan: Oh, you're welcome. Thanks for calling. 00:48:55.66\00:48:57.83 Next caller that we have--let's see, Glenn in Ohio. 00:48:57.87\00:49:00.50 Glenn, welcome to the program. 00:49:00.54\00:49:02.47 Glenn: Good evening, sir. 00:49:02.50\00:49:03.81 Thanks for taking my call. 00:49:03.84\00:49:05.44 Jëan: Absolutely. 00:49:05.47\00:49:06.81 Glenn: You know, as a young lad, I learned a lesson. 00:49:06.84\00:49:09.38 That is, when reading the Bible, if it seems to run into a 00:49:09.41\00:49:12.85 conflict, I need to remember that I don't understand. 00:49:12.88\00:49:17.12 That's the answer to the conflict because there are no 00:49:17.15\00:49:19.39 conflicts in the Bible. 00:49:19.42\00:49:20.82 Jëan: Right, we got to study further. 00:49:20.86\00:49:22.19 Glenn: But in reading Genesis 6:6, there seems to be a 00:49:22.22\00:49:26.09 conflict, and I'm just interested in an explanation 00:49:26.13\00:49:29.56 for something that questions the omniscience of God. 00:49:29.60\00:49:32.80 Jëan: Let me read the verse and then let's talk about it. 00:49:32.83\00:49:34.57 Says, "And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the 00:49:34.60\00:49:37.41 earth, and He was grieved in His heart." 00:49:37.44\00:49:40.61 So, your question is? 00:49:40.64\00:49:42.11 Glenn: He repented. 00:49:42.14\00:49:43.48 Jëan: He repented, yes. 00:49:43.51\00:49:44.81 There's different words that are sometimes used. 00:49:44.85\00:49:46.85 I'm reading from the New King James. 00:49:46.88\00:49:48.22 If you read the King James it says that God repented. 00:49:48.25\00:49:50.99 The idea there, meaning that He was sorrowful or He was pained. 00:49:51.02\00:49:56.69 The word repentance, again, depending upon the context where 00:49:56.73\00:49:59.66 it's used, it's not that God repented from anything that He 00:49:59.69\00:50:02.03 did wrong, because God's perfect, but pain came to the 00:50:02.06\00:50:05.67 heart of God. 00:50:05.70\00:50:07.04 He was sorry when He saw the way man was treating man. 00:50:07.07\00:50:10.04 Because the Bible says, violence filled the earth and every 00:50:10.07\00:50:12.27 imagination of the heart was evil continually and God 00:50:12.31\00:50:15.64 was pained. 00:50:15.68\00:50:17.01 He was sorry about what had happened on the earth. 00:50:17.05\00:50:19.71 So, it's not a regret. 00:50:19.75\00:50:21.05 Glenn: But He knew that it was coming. 00:50:21.08\00:50:22.42 Jëan: He did. 00:50:22.45\00:50:23.75 God knows the end from the beginning and yet He still 00:50:23.79\00:50:25.69 allowed it. 00:50:25.72\00:50:27.02 And why did He allow it? 00:50:27.06\00:50:28.39 Because God respects freedom of choice. 00:50:28.42\00:50:30.73 I mean, He knew that when He created Adam and Eve, that they 00:50:30.76\00:50:33.63 would eventually rebel and that it would cost the very life of 00:50:33.66\00:50:36.53 His Son, that Jesus would have to die. 00:50:36.56\00:50:39.27 And yet, God still continued to create man. 00:50:39.30\00:50:42.80 So, freedom is very important to God. 00:50:42.84\00:50:45.61 And why is freedom so important? 00:50:45.64\00:50:46.94 Because God can't accept worship that is not freely given. 00:50:46.98\00:50:52.85 God can't accept love that is forced. 00:50:52.88\00:50:55.82 It has to be freely given. 00:50:55.85\00:50:57.99 We have to choose. 00:50:58.02\00:50:59.35 But there's a risk. 00:50:59.39\00:51:00.69 If you love someone and you give them freedom to choose, there's 00:51:00.72\00:51:02.66 a risk that they're not always going to do what you want them 00:51:02.69\00:51:05.06 to do. 00:51:05.09\00:51:06.33 So, even though God knew that would happen, He still allowed 00:51:06.36\00:51:09.50 freedom, allowed them to make their choice, but then He 00:51:09.53\00:51:13.27 pledged Himself to provide a way of salvation so that we can 00:51:13.30\00:51:17.51 live forever. 00:51:17.54\00:51:18.87 Glenn: It says a lot about free will. 00:51:18.91\00:51:20.58 Jëan: It's very important. 00:51:20.61\00:51:21.91 Glenn: And I'd like to call another time and ask you 00:51:21.94\00:51:24.15 something about free will. 00:51:24.18\00:51:26.28 And the reality and the truth and the wonderness of God. 00:51:26.31\00:51:29.12 I agree with you, sir. 00:51:29.15\00:51:30.49 Thanks for the explanation. 00:51:30.52\00:51:31.82 Jëan: Thank you for calling, Glenn. 00:51:31.85\00:51:33.15 We appreciate it. 00:51:33.19\00:51:34.52 All right, the next caller that we have is Darryl, listening 00:51:34.56\00:51:36.12 in Canada. 00:51:36.16\00:51:37.49 Daryl, welcome to the program. 00:51:37.53\00:51:40.10 Daryl: Thank you, pastor. 00:51:40.13\00:51:42.33 Jëan: Yeah. Thanks for calling. 00:51:42.36\00:51:43.77 Daryl: I have a grandson, five and six, and then two twin 00:51:43.80\00:51:49.77 girls due in July. 00:51:49.80\00:51:51.91 Jëan: Oh, congratulations. 00:51:51.94\00:51:54.11 Daryl: Thank you. 00:51:54.14\00:51:55.48 My question is, how will God--like, if Jesus was to 00:51:55.51\00:51:58.68 return today, how would God deal with the resurrected bodies of 00:51:58.71\00:52:02.85 the babies, born and unborn? 00:52:02.88\00:52:05.35 Jëan: Okay, well, I think all of the children that'll be 00:52:05.39\00:52:09.19 resurrected, or maybe that'll be alive at the Second Coming of 00:52:09.22\00:52:13.13 Christ, they, along with the adults, will receive 00:52:13.16\00:52:16.70 glorified bodies. 00:52:16.73\00:52:18.30 However, they will receive glorified baby bodies, you might 00:52:18.33\00:52:21.44 say, or glorified teenager bodies, or wherever they are 00:52:21.47\00:52:25.67 in life. 00:52:25.71\00:52:26.94 So, if it is a baby and the baby receives a glorified baby body, 00:52:26.98\00:52:31.25 whatever that is, of course, we don't know, but the child will 00:52:31.28\00:52:35.25 grow up. 00:52:35.28\00:52:36.62 Isaiah says that "they shall grow up as calves in the stall," 00:52:36.65\00:52:40.69 and it talks about children that are playing in the streets, 00:52:40.72\00:52:44.23 playing with the animals. 00:52:44.26\00:52:45.56 So, there will be children in heaven. 00:52:45.59\00:52:47.23 They'll probably grow a little bit slower than they grow here 00:52:47.30\00:52:50.70 on the earth, but eventually children will grow up. 00:52:50.73\00:52:53.80 So, it'll be kind of neat to see how these children grow up in 00:52:53.84\00:52:57.97 heaven as they learn in a perfect environment, in the 00:52:58.01\00:53:01.51 presence of God, the presence of the angels, perfect love. 00:53:01.54\00:53:05.98 If ever you could choose where you want to grow up, you'd want 00:53:06.01\00:53:09.48 to grow up in heaven. 00:53:09.52\00:53:10.82 So, yes, God is going to take care of the babies, the 00:53:10.85\00:53:13.86 children, those who are resurrected when He comes again. 00:53:13.89\00:53:16.89 You know, we do have a book that we'll be happy to send anyone 00:53:16.93\00:53:21.73 talking about heaven. 00:53:21.76\00:53:23.06 It says, "Heaven: Is it for Real?" 00:53:23.10\00:53:25.03 That is a free gift. 00:53:25.07\00:53:26.40 We'll send it to anyone who calls and asks. 00:53:26.43\00:53:27.74 The number is 800-835-6747. 00:53:27.77\00:53:31.11 That is our resource phone line. 00:53:31.14\00:53:32.81 You can just answer the book, "Heaven: Is it for Real?" 00:53:32.84\00:53:35.11 You can dial pound 250 on your smartphone and say, "Bible 00:53:35.14\00:53:39.05 Answers Live," and then ask for that book, "Heaven: Is it 00:53:39.08\00:53:42.25 for Real?" 00:53:42.28\00:53:43.59 Time for one more caller before we take a break. 00:53:43.62\00:53:45.75 Angela, we got just about a minute. 00:53:45.79\00:53:47.42 What is your question? 00:53:47.46\00:53:48.79 Angela from New York. 00:53:48.82\00:53:50.13 Angela: Yes, okay. 00:53:50.16\00:53:51.63 So, my question is, I, you know, I believe that Jesus Christ is 00:53:51.66\00:53:56.53 my Lord and Savior, but my question is, why isn't He in the 00:53:56.56\00:54:00.94 Old Testament, but He's in the New Testament? 00:54:00.97\00:54:03.44 Jëan: Okay, good question. 00:54:03.47\00:54:04.81 Well, Jesus is in the Old Testament. 00:54:04.84\00:54:06.98 He is all over the Old Testament. 00:54:07.01\00:54:08.91 He is sometimes referred to as the angel of the Lord, 00:54:08.94\00:54:11.85 the messenger. 00:54:11.88\00:54:13.18 The word angel means messenger. 00:54:13.21\00:54:14.68 It was Jesus in the pillar of fire that led the children 00:54:14.72\00:54:17.92 of Israel. 00:54:17.95\00:54:19.29 It was Jesus in the type of the sacrifices, the lamb, in the 00:54:19.32\00:54:23.09 priests, in the whole service. 00:54:23.12\00:54:25.13 It was Christ that was leading His people. 00:54:25.16\00:54:27.96 And so, yes, Jesus is in the Old Testament. 00:54:28.00\00:54:30.23 Matter of fact, all of the Old Testament prophecies point 00:54:30.27\00:54:32.70 to Jesus. 00:54:32.73\00:54:34.04 Of course, Jesus appeared to Moses at the burning bush and He 00:54:34.07\00:54:36.84 gave Himself the name "I Am." 00:54:36.87\00:54:38.84 That's why Jesus, when He was in the earth, He said to the 00:54:38.87\00:54:41.64 religious leaders, "Before Abraham was, I am." 00:54:41.68\00:54:44.48 He used that very same name that was used at the burning bush. 00:54:44.51\00:54:48.62 So, yes, Jesus is in the Old Testament in all 00:54:48.65\00:54:51.82 different places. 00:54:51.85\00:54:53.19 All those of you who are listening on satellite radio, we 00:54:53.22\00:54:55.92 are going to say goodbye, as we're going off satellite radio 00:54:55.96\00:54:59.29 just a little earlier before the rest of the stations. 00:54:59.33\00:55:01.53 For those of you listening on land based stations watching on 00:55:01.56\00:55:04.23 AFTV, we'll be right back. 00:55:04.27\00:55:06.27 male announcer: Thank you for listening to today's broadcast. 00:55:10.51\00:55:13.11 We hope you understand your Bible even better than before. 00:55:13.14\00:55:16.68 "Bible Answers Live" is produced by Amazing Facts International, 00:55:16.71\00:55:20.98 a faith-based ministry located in Granite Bay, California. 00:55:21.02\00:55:26.42 Jëan: Hello, friends, and welcome back. 00:55:26.45\00:55:27.82 Those who have stayed by on the various land based radio 00:55:27.86\00:55:30.36 stations, also watching on the internet and on Amazing Facts 00:55:30.39\00:55:33.33 TV, we're going to take some of your email questions. 00:55:33.36\00:55:36.30 We want to thank the many who have sent us questions 00:55:36.33\00:55:38.77 via email. 00:55:38.80\00:55:40.10 If you'd like to email us a question, it's just 00:55:40.14\00:55:41.44 simply BALquestions@amazingfacts.org. 00:55:41.47\00:55:46.14 That's BALquestions@amazingfacts.org. 00:55:46.17\00:55:50.11 All right, Johnny's asking the question, "Does the principle of 00:55:50.15\00:55:53.11 tithe apply to gifts received?" 00:55:53.15\00:55:56.15 Well, it depends. 00:55:56.18\00:55:57.49 The principle that we find in the Bible is that we are to 00:55:57.52\00:56:00.66 tithe on our increase. 00:56:00.69\00:56:02.79 So, if we receive a gift, an unexpected gift, and, you know, 00:56:02.82\00:56:07.50 we want to thank the Lord for that gift, it's appropriate. 00:56:07.50\00:56:10.57 Now, that doesn't always mean if it's a tangible thing that 00:56:10.60\00:56:13.37 somebody gives you. 00:56:13.40\00:56:14.97 Of course, you can't tithe on that, a car or whatever it is 00:56:15.00\00:56:18.37 you might receive. 00:56:18.41\00:56:19.71 You might wish to give a special offering at church, a love 00:56:19.74\00:56:22.51 offering, in recognition of the gift that God has given. 00:56:22.54\00:56:25.35 If it's money that somebody has given you, yes, you are able to 00:56:25.38\00:56:28.88 tithe on that. 00:56:28.92\00:56:30.25 So, pray for the Spirit to lead you, but it's always a good 00:56:30.29\00:56:33.72 thing to recognize God as being the true giver of all things and 00:56:33.76\00:56:38.26 return your tithes to Him. 00:56:38.29\00:56:40.50 All right, Terry's asking, "Is it true that the Ten 00:56:40.53\00:56:43.30 Commandments are written on sapphire stone?" 00:56:43.33\00:56:45.67 Well, the Bible doesn't tell us for sure what type of stone was 00:56:45.70\00:56:48.37 used upon which the Ten Commandments were written. 00:56:48.40\00:56:51.01 We do know in the Bible that blue, the color blue, is often 00:56:51.04\00:56:54.01 associated with God's law. 00:56:54.04\00:56:56.18 The priests were told to make a hem of blue at the border of 00:56:56.21\00:57:00.12 their robes and that was to remind them of the law of God. 00:57:00.15\00:57:04.05 When they washed their hands and they washed their feet, they 00:57:04.09\00:57:06.12 would see that blue and remind them about obedience. 00:57:06.15\00:57:09.79 So, blue is often associated with the law of God. 00:57:09.82\00:57:12.29 Was the Ten Commandments written on a sapphire stone? 00:57:12.33\00:57:14.86 Possibly. 00:57:14.93\00:57:16.20 I, you know, the Bible is not absolutely clear on that. 00:57:16.23\00:57:18.03 I think one day we will know and that will become true. 00:57:18.07\00:57:22.84 All right, next question that we have is, "The Bible says the 00:57:22.87\00:57:25.04 wages of sin is death. 00:57:25.07\00:57:26.37 Is it talking about the first or the second death?" 00:57:26.41\00:57:28.91 When the Bible says the wages of sin is death, it's talking about 00:57:28.94\00:57:31.38 the second death. 00:57:31.41\00:57:32.71 Now, the first death is the death that we die now. 00:57:32.75\00:57:35.12 For the believer, death is described as a sleep in the 00:57:35.15\00:57:38.99 Bible and when Jesus comes the righteous are going to be 00:57:39.02\00:57:42.19 awakened from that sleep. 00:57:42.22\00:57:43.99 That's why Jesus said, with reference to Lazarus, "Our 00:57:44.03\00:57:46.83 friend Lazarus sleepeth," when he was actually dead. 00:57:46.86\00:57:50.00 Now, true death, as the Bible describes, is the death that the 00:57:50.03\00:57:54.20 wicked experience at the end of the 1000 years. 00:57:54.24\00:57:56.37 There is no hope of resurrection. 00:57:56.40\00:57:58.64 They are forever separated. 00:57:58.67\00:58:00.51 There is a judgment associated with that final, second death, 00:58:00.54\00:58:05.01 so that is the ultimate reward for sin. 00:58:05.05\00:58:07.78 That is the wages of sin, which is death. 00:58:07.82\00:58:09.78 Friends, thank you so much for joining us here at "Bible 00:58:09.82\00:58:12.22 Answers Live." 00:58:12.25\00:58:13.56 Look forward to talking some more next week. 00:58:13.59\00:58:15.19 God bless. 00:58:15.22\00:58:17.39 male announcer: "Bible Answers Live," honest and accurate 00:58:17.43\00:58:20.66 answers to your Bible questions. 00:58:20.70\00:58:23.00
