words, sometimes simple and sometimes mysterious, 00:00:09.74\00:00:13.41 should always be studied carefully. 00:00:13.44\00:00:16.34 It is the Bible, the Word of God. 00:00:16.38\00:00:19.68 Welcome 00:00:28.39\00:00:31.19 To receive any of the Bible resources mentioned in this 00:00:31.23\00:00:33.80 broadcast, call 800-835-6747. 00:00:33.83\00:00:38.37 Once again, that's 800-835-6747. 00:00:38.40\00:00:43.71 Now here's your host from Amazing Facts International, 00:00:43.74\00:00:47.88 Pastor Doug Batchelor. 00:00:47.91\00:00:49.91 Doug Batchelor: Hello, listening friends, would you like to hear 00:00:49.94\00:00:52.31 an Amazing Fact? 00:00:52.35\00:00:54.55 In 1899, a New York City taxicab driver, Jacob German, left his 00:00:54.58\00:00:59.82 mark in history by becoming the first person in 00:00:59.85\00:01:02.16 the United States to be cited for speeding in an automobile. 00:01:02.19\00:01:06.70 German was a driver for the Electric Vehicle Company, which 00:01:06.73\00:01:09.70 leased its cars to be used as taxis in the bustling city. 00:01:09.73\00:01:13.57 The car that German was driving was known as an Electrobat, 00:01:13.60\00:01:17.34 which was a fully electric vehicle invented in 1894. 00:01:17.37\00:01:21.34 There were about 60 Electrobats in 1899 operating as taxis in 00:01:21.38\00:01:25.45 the New York City area, where speed limits for horses and cars 00:01:25.48\00:01:29.68 was eight miles an hour when traveling straight and four 00:01:29.72\00:01:32.82 miles an hour on a turn. 00:01:32.85\00:01:35.16 German was traveling at the lightning speed of 12 miles 00:01:35.19\00:01:38.89 an hour. 00:01:38.93\00:01:40.26 The officer who pulled him over, the speed demon, was so outraged 00:01:40.30\00:01:44.33 he actually chased him down and pulled him over with his 00:01:44.37\00:01:46.74 bicycle, and arrested him, and threw him in jail overnight. 00:01:46.77\00:01:51.84 That's funny, because you've got someone getting a speeding 00:01:51.87\00:01:54.14 ticket for going 12 miles an hour and he gets pulled over by 00:01:54.18\00:01:56.51 a bicycle policeman. 00:01:56.54\00:01:58.58 Jëan Ross: In an electric car, yeah. 00:01:58.61\00:01:59.91 Doug: I wonder if he had red and blue lights flashing 00:01:59.95\00:02:01.45 on his bike. 00:02:01.48\00:02:03.18 But it makes me think about, just you look at the cities 00:02:03.22\00:02:06.72 today, and if that was speeding, and they were worried about the 00:02:06.76\00:02:11.59 traffic back then, it makes me think of a prophecy. 00:02:11.63\00:02:14.76 Now, Nahum is not specifically talking about speeding cars but 00:02:14.83\00:02:17.67 just listen to this, friends. 00:02:17.70\00:02:19.10 In the Book of Nahum, you don't hear that quoted very often, one 00:02:19.13\00:02:21.64 of the minor prophets, chapter 2, verse 4, "The chariots rage 00:02:21.67\00:02:26.21 in the streets, They jostle one another in the broad roads; They 00:02:26.24\00:02:30.45 seem like torches, They run like lightning." 00:02:30.48\00:02:33.28 It sounds like LA just around sundown. 00:02:33.31\00:02:37.99 I tell you, I think he's actually talking about the fall 00:02:38.02\00:02:39.72 of Nineveh and the army that came in. 00:02:39.75\00:02:41.56 But there is another passage in Daniel chapter 12, verse 4, 00:02:41.59\00:02:45.46 talking about the last days. 00:02:45.49\00:02:47.60 And it said, "But you, Daniel, shut up the words," of this 00:02:47.66\00:02:50.20 prophecy, "And seal the book until the time of the end; many 00:02:50.23\00:02:54.87 will run to and fro, and knowledge will increase." 00:02:54.90\00:02:59.21 Think how far we've gone, Pastor Ross, and in just about 100 00:02:59.24\00:03:02.61 years, from that first speeding ticket to artificial 00:03:02.64\00:03:06.28 intelligence and self-driving cars and tourism going to space. 00:03:06.31\00:03:13.86 And Daniel said in the last days knowledge will increase, and 00:03:13.89\00:03:18.96 knowledge has increased exponentially more in the last 00:03:18.99\00:03:23.47 100 years than all of the history of man put together, 00:03:23.50\00:03:27.47 which makes me think we're living in the last days. 00:03:27.50\00:03:30.17 And it's exciting, because one of the prophecies of Jesus, in 00:03:30.21\00:03:33.58 Matthew chapter 24:14, said, "The gospel of this kingdom will 00:03:33.61\00:03:37.65 be preached in all the world for a witness unto the nations, and 00:03:37.68\00:03:41.95 then the end will come." 00:03:41.98\00:03:43.62 And now, with the internet and international communications and 00:03:43.65\00:03:50.36 satellites, there's scarcely a place we can go in the world, 00:03:50.39\00:03:54.73 now, where you can't connect and hear the gospel in almost 00:03:54.76\00:03:58.50 any language. 00:03:58.53\00:03:59.87 Jëan: You know, Pastor Doug that reminds me of, well, an 00:03:59.90\00:04:01.67 experience you had in Papua, New Guinea, way out in the bush. 00:04:01.70\00:04:05.07 You and the team, which actually makes me smile to think of it, 00:04:05.11\00:04:07.84 you and the team were out there and you're looking for a native 00:04:07.88\00:04:10.65 house, just kind of a grass roof kind of hut thing. 00:04:10.68\00:04:14.45 And you found the perfect spot and you were gonna do an 00:04:14.48\00:04:16.69 "Amazing Fact." 00:04:16.72\00:04:18.05 And you walked up to the house and you asked the person if you 00:04:18.09\00:04:20.72 could film in front of the house, and the lady knew who you 00:04:20.76\00:04:23.96 were because she was watching it on her cellphone, she was 00:04:23.99\00:04:26.73 watching "Amazing Facts." 00:04:26.76\00:04:28.06 Doug: Out in the jungle in the middle of New Guinea, and they 00:04:28.10\00:04:31.23 were watching there. 00:04:31.27\00:04:32.57 Jëan: It's just amazing. 00:04:32.60\00:04:33.90 Doug: It's so incredible. 00:04:33.94\00:04:35.27 So the Bible tells us that Jesus, in Revelation 14, chapter 00:04:35.30\00:04:40.11 14, of Revelation verse 14, says, "Christ comes in the 00:04:40.14\00:04:43.51 clouds," he's pictured. 00:04:43.55\00:04:45.25 Before Jesus comes in the clouds, it depicts these three 00:04:45.28\00:04:49.08 angelic messages that go to the world, and that's happening now. 00:04:49.12\00:04:53.25 And maybe people would like to know, what are those messages, 00:04:53.29\00:04:55.99 the last messages that go to the world before Jesus comes? 00:04:56.02\00:04:58.83 Jëan: And you find it in Revelation chapter 14, we call 00:04:58.86\00:05:01.10 it The Three Angels Messages, and it's to the everlasting 00:05:01.13\00:05:03.90 gospel that has to go to every nation, kindred, tongue, 00:05:03.93\00:05:06.33 and people. 00:05:06.37\00:05:07.67 Our study guide is called "Angel Messages from Space," and that 00:05:07.70\00:05:10.44 is a free offer for anyone who's watching or listening, just call 00:05:10.47\00:05:13.54 the number 800-835-6747, and you can ask for offer number 137 or 00:05:13.58\00:05:19.75 ask for it by name, it's called "Angel Messages from Space." 00:05:19.78\00:05:23.39 You can also dial #250 on your smartphone, say, "Bible Answers 00:05:23.42\00:05:27.19 Live," and ask for it that way, called, "Angel Messages 00:05:27.22\00:05:30.33 from Space." 00:05:30.36\00:05:31.69 Probably one of the most important messages, it's sort of 00:05:31.73\00:05:34.73 God's last warning message to the world, you find it there in 00:05:34.76\00:05:38.00 Revelation chapter 14. 00:05:38.03\00:05:39.97 Well, before we go to the phone lines, let's have a word 00:05:40.00\00:05:42.17 of prayer. 00:05:42.20\00:05:43.51 Dear Father in heaven, we thank you, once again, for this 00:05:43.54\00:05:45.01 opportunity to open up your Word and study. 00:05:45.04\00:05:47.61 And Lord, we always ask for your Spirit to come and guide us here 00:05:47.64\00:05:50.15 in the studio and be with those who are listening, wherever they 00:05:50.18\00:05:52.71 might be, in their car or at home. 00:05:52.75\00:05:54.52 And lead us, Lord, into a clearer understanding of 00:05:54.55\00:05:56.69 Bible truth. 00:05:56.72\00:05:58.05 For we ask this in Jesus's name, Amen. 00:05:58.09\00:06:00.59 Doug: Amen. 00:06:00.62\00:06:01.96 Jëan: Our first call of this evening is Gary, listening 00:06:01.99\00:06:03.56 in Illinois. 00:06:03.59\00:06:04.89 Gary, you are on "Bible Answers Live." 00:06:04.93\00:06:07.50 Gary: Thank you. 00:06:07.56\00:06:08.86 I found two places in the Bible where Armageddon could be 00:06:08.90\00:06:12.30 referenced, Revelation 16, the kings of the whole world are 00:06:12.33\00:06:16.84 enticed by four demonic angels, when the Euphrates River dries 00:06:16.87\00:06:21.54 up, and they're taken to the place in the Hebrew 00:06:21.58\00:06:24.45 called Armageddon. 00:06:24.48\00:06:25.71 And then again in Revelation 20, this is the second resurrection, 00:06:25.75\00:06:31.15 one of the unrighteous dead. 00:06:31.19\00:06:32.99 Once they resurrect from the grave, they attack New 00:06:33.02\00:06:36.36 Jerusalem, and during the battle, God sends down fire and 00:06:36.39\00:06:39.63 destroys them, I guess second death. 00:06:39.66\00:06:41.66 So, which of these two is the real Armageddon? 00:06:41.70\00:06:44.90 Are they both the same Armageddon? 00:06:44.93\00:06:47.07 It doesn't seem like they are. 00:06:47.10\00:06:49.10 Doug: All right, first of all, the key to understanding 00:06:49.14\00:06:52.94 Revelation chapter 16, where it talks about the Euphrates River 00:06:52.97\00:06:56.48 drying up to make way for the kings of the East, and these 00:06:56.51\00:07:01.85 three unclean spirits gather the kings to battle. 00:07:01.88\00:07:04.45 You'll go to the Old Testament, and King Saul goes to an evil 00:07:04.49\00:07:09.66 spirit and he then is killed in the battle the next day. 00:07:09.69\00:07:14.00 Now, Saul had been trying to kill David, who is a type 00:07:14.03\00:07:16.73 of Christ. 00:07:16.77\00:07:18.10 The battle of Armageddon is principally a battle between 00:07:18.13\00:07:20.94 those who follow Christ and those who follow the devil. 00:07:20.97\00:07:25.04 And even though King Saul was a Jew, he was killing the priests 00:07:25.07\00:07:31.31 and sometimes the devil gets into the church. 00:07:31.35\00:07:33.62 That's gonna happen in the end, where, through the guise of 00:07:33.65\00:07:36.18 Christianity and false worship, the devil is gonna bring 00:07:36.22\00:07:39.65 about persecution. 00:07:39.69\00:07:41.39 And Jesus said, "The day is coming," and this is, I think, 00:07:41.42\00:07:43.76 John 16, "Those who kill you will think they're serving God." 00:07:43.79\00:07:47.20 So, the first stage of this battle between Christ and Satan 00:07:47.23\00:07:51.80 is taking place prior to the second coming, it's a war. 00:07:51.83\00:07:55.90 The final battle of the war is when Satan then tries to launch 00:07:55.94\00:07:59.54 this final desperate attack at the end. 00:07:59.57\00:08:02.18 So, it's really one Armageddon reaches across the millennium 00:08:02.21\00:08:05.05 between two wars. 00:08:05.08\00:08:06.38 Jëan: Yeah, there are two phases, the first phase takes 00:08:06.41\00:08:08.62 place at the second coming of Christ, and the wicked then die, 00:08:08.65\00:08:10.85 will be called the first death. 00:08:10.89\00:08:12.85 The second part of the battle, which takes place at the end of 00:08:12.89\00:08:15.49 the thousand years, it says death and hell and the devil and 00:08:15.52\00:08:18.93 the wicked are thrown to the lake of fire and they are no 00:08:18.96\00:08:21.20 more, they are consumed by those fires. 00:08:21.23\00:08:23.30 So that is the second part of the battle of Armageddon, which 00:08:23.33\00:08:26.37 is the final destruction of sin and sinners. 00:08:26.40\00:08:28.97 And the earth is recreated after that, the earth is purified by 00:08:29.00\00:08:31.77 fire, and then Revelation 21 talks about a new heavens and 00:08:31.81\00:08:34.98 a new earth wherein dwells righteousness. 00:08:35.01\00:08:37.68 Doug: You know, we do have a study guide called "1,000 Years 00:08:37.71\00:08:39.78 of Peace" that talks about what happens at the end of the 00:08:39.81\00:08:41.88 thousand years. 00:08:41.92\00:08:43.22 We'll be happy to send it to anyone who calls and asks. 00:08:43.25\00:08:45.12 The number is 800-835-6747, and you can ask for the study guide, 00:08:45.15\00:08:49.79 it's called "1,000 Years of Peace," it's about Revelation 00:08:49.82\00:08:52.26 chapter 20, otherwise known as the millennium. 00:08:52.29\00:08:55.20 Or you can dial $250 on your smartphone, and just say "Bible 00:08:55.23\00:08:58.97 Answers Live," and ask for that study guide by name. 00:08:59.00\00:09:01.90 Thank you, Gary. 00:09:01.94\00:09:03.24 We got Peggy, listening in Pennsylvania. 00:09:03.27\00:09:05.14 Peggy, welcome to the program. 00:09:05.17\00:09:07.51 Peggy: Okay, indulge me for a couple of minutes if you may. 00:09:07.54\00:09:11.95 I've read my entire Bible, I've been a Christian for a very long 00:09:11.98\00:09:16.15 time, and unfortunately, where we locate myself, there's not 00:09:16.18\00:09:22.42 reception of the station of Christian that I used to listen 00:09:22.46\00:09:26.13 to, so I found this other station that is very liking to 00:09:26.16\00:09:30.10 my ear, until I figured the type of denomination that they are, 00:09:30.13\00:09:34.37 and also they speak a lot about the Sabbath. 00:09:34.40\00:09:38.54 I do have quite a few friends who practice or keep the Sabbath 00:09:38.57\00:09:42.24 because they are from that religion. 00:09:42.28\00:09:44.35 So my question is, according to the Bible, when I read it, when 00:09:44.38\00:09:50.02 God was making creation, there was no man around. 00:09:50.05\00:09:56.22 I don't recall reading anywhere in the Bible where the days were 00:09:56.26\00:10:05.70 named like we know them to be now. 00:10:05.73\00:10:08.64 Human names the days, the same way humans decide whenever they 00:10:08.67\00:10:15.84 are in a particular practice, they don't like it, they go out 00:10:15.88\00:10:18.98 and form their own other doctrine. 00:10:19.01\00:10:22.42 So, how do we know? 00:10:22.45\00:10:25.52 So I really am seeking for the truth, the more I'm into my 00:10:25.55\00:10:28.72 Bible, the more I want to see the truth. 00:10:28.76\00:10:30.83 And now there is so much opinion, so many books which 00:10:30.86\00:10:34.03 really I don't bother to read cause otherwise you become 00:10:34.10\00:10:36.60 confused, cause everybody have their own opinions. 00:10:36.63\00:10:40.07 How does human or people who are confessing that the religion 00:10:40.10\00:10:49.64 that they are that keep the Sabbath as God committed to do 00:10:49.68\00:10:53.58 was definitely on a Saturday? 00:10:53.62\00:10:57.85 Doug: I appreciate that, Peggy. 00:10:57.89\00:11:00.56 First of all, how do we know that the seventh day 00:11:00.59\00:11:04.33 is Saturday? 00:11:04.36\00:11:05.69 Well, first of all, let's just establish that I believe there 00:11:05.73\00:11:08.80 are good Christian people in many different churches. 00:11:08.83\00:11:12.03 I'm not trying to condemn anyone. 00:11:12.07\00:11:13.70 But if you wanna know what the Bible says is the truth, very 00:11:13.74\00:11:17.44 clearly, in creation, you look and the days of the week are 00:11:17.47\00:11:20.98 numbered, they're not named. 00:11:21.01\00:11:22.41 We didn't get the names for the days of the week until the 00:11:22.44\00:11:25.95 Romans, we started adopting some of the Roman names. 00:11:25.98\00:11:29.78 First day of the week, they call Sunday, and Sunday is the first 00:11:29.82\00:11:33.19 day of the week, that's when Jesus rose. 00:11:33.22\00:11:35.09 We know what day it is, it says, "And on the first day of 00:11:35.12\00:11:37.19 the week." 00:11:37.23\00:11:38.53 We know that He was crucified, it was a preparation day, which 00:11:38.56\00:11:41.43 is what we call Friday, which is the sixth day of the week. 00:11:41.46\00:11:44.87 He rested in the tomb on the seventh day, they wanted to go 00:11:44.90\00:11:48.34 home and prepare spices, the Bible tells us in Luke chapter 00:11:48.37\00:11:52.57 23, and keep the Sabbath according to the commandment. 00:11:52.61\00:11:56.75 So, the day between the sixth day and the first day is the 00:11:56.78\00:12:01.95 seventh day, and He died on Friday, that's where we got 00:12:01.98\00:12:04.99 Good Friday. 00:12:05.02\00:12:06.32 He's rested in the tomb on the Sabbath, He even kept the 00:12:06.35\00:12:08.89 Sabbath in His death, He rose Sunday morning and the first day 00:12:08.92\00:12:12.73 of the week. 00:12:12.76\00:12:14.10 So, not only that, but you've got a nation of 16 million Jews 00:12:14.10\00:12:17.87 around the world, many of them still keep the seventh day of 00:12:17.90\00:12:20.77 the week, which is Saturday. 00:12:20.80\00:12:22.54 So there's been no confusion. 00:12:22.57\00:12:24.57 If you look in any encyclopedia or dictionary and you just type 00:12:24.61\00:12:28.74 in first day of the week or Sunday, it'll tell you first day 00:12:28.78\00:12:32.01 of the week. 00:12:32.05\00:12:33.35 So there's no real confusion about that. 00:12:33.38\00:12:34.98 Jëan: And of course, the fourth commandment, which talks about 00:12:35.02\00:12:37.19 the Sabbath, it says, "The seventh day is the Sabbath of 00:12:37.22\00:12:39.85 the Lord thy God." 00:12:39.89\00:12:41.19 So we know which day of the week is the Sabbath, it's the 00:12:41.22\00:12:43.46 seventh day. 00:12:43.49\00:12:44.83 And like you mentioned, when Jesus was on the earth, the Jews 00:12:44.86\00:12:48.00 were keeping the seventh day, they called it the Sabbath, 00:12:48.03\00:12:50.30 Jesus kept the Sabbath along with the rest of the Jewish 00:12:50.33\00:12:53.44 people, and since then, there's been an accurate record of which 00:12:53.47\00:12:56.64 day of the week is the Sabbath, which is the seventh day, that's 00:12:56.67\00:12:59.67 come all the way down to our time. 00:12:59.71\00:13:01.51 It starts back in Genesis 2, after God created man on the 00:13:01.54\00:13:05.95 sixth day and He said it was good, says, "And on the seventh 00:13:05.98\00:13:09.95 day He ended His work which He had done, He rested the Sabbath 00:13:09.98\00:13:13.36 day," seventh day, "He blessed the seventh day." 00:13:13.39\00:13:16.89 And Jesus said the Sabbath was made for man, so man is made the 00:13:16.93\00:13:20.10 sixth day, the seventh day he makes the Sabbath for man, the 00:13:20.13\00:13:24.00 word Jesus uses there is anthropos, so it doesn't mean 00:13:24.03\00:13:26.47 Jews, it means mankind. 00:13:26.50\00:13:28.47 And man still needs that day of rest, and it's not any day, God 00:13:28.50\00:13:31.94 said, "I've blessed the day, a special day, and I want you to 00:13:31.97\00:13:34.21 keep the day I've blessed." 00:13:34.24\00:13:35.54 So that's why you're hearing that. 00:13:35.58\00:13:37.01 And we have a whole website that can answer questions, as well as 00:13:37.05\00:13:42.38 a study guide. 00:13:42.42\00:13:43.65 Jëan: That's right, we have a website called SabbathTruth.com, 00:13:43.69\00:13:45.89 and anyone can go to it, take a look at it, there's videos, 00:13:45.92\00:13:48.66 a lot of Bible study material. 00:13:48.69\00:13:50.39 We also have one of our "Amazing Fact" study guides, it's called 00:13:50.43\00:13:52.99 "The Lost Day of History," and it's about the Sabbath and we'll 00:13:53.03\00:13:56.03 be happy to send it to anyone who calls and asks. 00:13:56.06\00:13:58.30 The number is 800-835-6747, just ask for that study guide, it's 00:13:58.33\00:14:03.04 called "The Lost Day of History." 00:14:03.07\00:14:04.31 Or you can dial #250, and say, "Bible Answers Live," and then 00:14:04.34\00:14:08.58 ask for it by name, "The Lost Day of History." 00:14:08.61\00:14:11.68 Thank you, Peggy. 00:14:11.71\00:14:13.05 We got Glenn listening in Ohio. 00:14:13.08\00:14:14.78 Glen, welcome to the program. 00:14:14.82\00:14:17.62 Glen: Thank you, good evening, and thank you for taking 00:14:17.65\00:14:19.72 my call. 00:14:19.75\00:14:21.06 Jëan: Yes, sir. 00:14:21.09\00:14:22.42 Glen: You know, my question could probably better be stated, 00:14:22.46\00:14:23.89 "Is Enoch really still alive?" 00:14:23.93\00:14:27.13 When my mother passed, I was there, and her passing was very 00:14:27.20\00:14:30.67 quiet and restful. 00:14:30.70\00:14:33.07 I believe she was an example of what the Bible says, "Did not 00:14:33.10\00:14:36.91 see death." 00:14:36.94\00:14:39.71 That wording, could that apply to the fact that Enoch died as 00:14:39.74\00:14:45.95 according to Hebrews 11:13, that he really died, but he didn't 00:14:45.98\00:14:50.45 see death? 00:14:50.49\00:14:51.79 That's my question. 00:14:51.82\00:14:53.15 Doug: All right, the Bible, I think, is pretty clear, in 00:14:53.19\00:14:57.13 Hebrews 11, it's telling us that Enoch was not, for God took him, 00:14:57.16\00:15:03.67 and he had this testimony, he walked with God. 00:15:03.70\00:15:07.14 And so, the Bible, I think, is indicating that Enoch did not 00:15:07.17\00:15:11.77 die, and that we're very happy and thankful for those that have 00:15:11.81\00:15:15.28 a peaceful death and they are resting in Jesus. 00:15:15.31\00:15:17.95 And that's why you've got cemeteries that say RIP, rest 00:15:17.98\00:15:21.52 in peace. 00:15:21.55\00:15:22.88 That's what the Lord wants for His children, sleeping that 00:15:22.92\00:15:26.19 dreamless, peaceful sleep, there's no consciousness 00:15:26.22\00:15:28.42 of time. 00:15:28.46\00:15:29.76 Their next conscious thought, if they die saved is be in the 00:15:29.79\00:15:32.56 first resurrection. 00:15:32.59\00:15:34.00 The dead in Christ will rise, the next thing they see after 00:15:34.00\00:15:37.43 death is the face of their Savior, which is a 00:15:37.47\00:15:40.24 beautiful thought. 00:15:40.27\00:15:41.57 But Enoch never did die, God translated him, he did not die 00:15:41.60\00:15:45.87 and get resurrected, God just gave him a glorified body. 00:15:45.91\00:15:49.38 So what happened to Enoch is what's happening to the people 00:15:49.41\00:15:52.85 who are alive when Jesus comes, and Pastor Ross, I think it's 00:15:52.88\00:15:56.69 1 Corinthians 15, where He said that, "In a moment, the 00:15:56.72\00:15:59.82 twinkling of an eye, at the last trump," "We are transformed," 00:15:59.85\00:16:03.83 "This mortal puts on immortality." 00:16:03.86\00:16:06.76 So, we don't die, those who are alive and remain when the Lord 00:16:06.80\00:16:09.43 comes, says, "We're caught up to meet the resurrected saints in 00:16:09.46\00:16:13.44 the air." 00:16:13.47\00:16:14.77 And that's what happened to Enoch and Elijah, and I'm hoping 00:16:14.80\00:16:18.64 that's my experience. 00:16:18.67\00:16:20.01 I mean, if I have to die first, so be it, but I'd like to avoid 00:16:20.04\00:16:23.11 it if I can. 00:16:23.14\00:16:24.41 Jëan: The verse you're referring to there, Pastor, 1 Corinthians 00:16:24.45\00:16:26.45 chapter 15:53-54. 00:16:26.48\00:16:29.52 Doug: Yeah, the whole chapter is on the resurrection. 00:16:29.55\00:16:31.59 Thank you so much, we appreciate that, Glen. 00:16:31.62\00:16:34.32 Jëan: Next caller that we have is James, in Tennessee. 00:16:34.36\00:16:36.56 James, welcome to the program. 00:16:36.59\00:16:39.53 James: Hey, good afternoon. 00:16:39.56\00:16:40.90 Yeah, I was just gonna ask, my question is based on Acts 4:12. 00:16:40.93\00:16:46.70 All throughout the Bible, it says, "Those who have not denied 00:16:46.74\00:16:49.90 my name." 00:16:49.94\00:16:51.27 Well, it says that in Revelation, the Book of Malachi 00:16:51.31\00:16:53.17 talks about His name a lot. 00:16:53.21\00:16:54.84 Acts 4:12 says, "There's only one name given amongst men where 00:16:54.88\00:16:59.21 you must be saved." 00:16:59.25\00:17:00.75 Now we know back in the scrolls, there wasn't, like you said, 00:17:00.78\00:17:03.85 vowels or consonants, they either call him Yehusha 00:17:03.89\00:17:07.49 or Yeshua. 00:17:07.52\00:17:09.32 So, the letter J, I found out, has only been around for about 00:17:09.36\00:17:13.36 600 or 700 years. 00:17:13.40\00:17:15.60 So, if the Bible, God's Word was written so long ago, how did 00:17:15.63\00:17:20.87 they throw the name J, and how can we call him Jesus if the 00:17:20.90\00:17:24.94 letter J has only been around 600 or 700 years. 00:17:24.97\00:17:28.04 Wouldn't that be breaking the commandment, "Thou shalt have no 00:17:28.08\00:17:30.71 other gods before me," because the name Jesus was not in 00:17:30.75\00:17:34.45 the scrolls? 00:17:34.48\00:17:35.98 I wanna make sure I'm doing it in truth, you know? 00:17:36.02\00:17:39.19 I just wanna worship spirit and truth, and Acts 4:12 says, 00:17:39.22\00:17:41.96 "There's only one name given amongst men where we must 00:17:41.99\00:17:45.03 be saved." 00:17:45.06\00:17:46.36 And it kind of scares me because there was no J in Hebrew, so, 00:17:46.39\00:17:49.86 kind of like the Sabbath, man tried to change the Sabbath from 00:17:49.90\00:17:52.87 Saturday to Sunday, and I just want that to be God's authority. 00:17:52.90\00:17:56.97 Go ahead. 00:17:57.01\00:17:58.31 Doug: Okay, yeah, I understand where you're coming from. 00:17:58.34\00:17:59.77 So, the question you're really asking is, if people are using 00:17:59.81\00:18:04.68 the pronunciation of Jesus instead of Yeshua or Yahweh to 00:18:04.71\00:18:09.98 talk to God, are they somehow disobeying? 00:18:10.02\00:18:13.89 Am I saying that correctly? 00:18:13.92\00:18:16.79 James: Mhm. 00:18:16.83\00:18:18.16 Doug: Yeah. 00:18:18.19\00:18:19.49 Well, does God require us to pronounce His name in the 00:18:19.53\00:18:23.37 original Hebrew or does He expect us to pronounce His name 00:18:23.40\00:18:27.34 in our native tongues? 00:18:27.37\00:18:29.57 So, if I'm in Mexico and they don't say Jesus, they say Jesús, 00:18:29.60\00:18:33.94 and in some countries, it's Jiu, and if I was in Israel, it would 00:18:33.98\00:18:38.78 be Yeshua. 00:18:38.81\00:18:40.65 So, I don't know that God is requiring us to speak in the 00:18:40.68\00:18:45.22 original language when we say his name, we can say the 00:18:45.25\00:18:48.39 translated version of His name. 00:18:48.42\00:18:51.16 And in the American culture and a lot of English languages, 00:18:51.19\00:18:56.16 that's come across as Jesus. 00:18:56.20\00:18:59.03 If a person feels convicted that they're somehow losing power by 00:18:59.07\00:19:02.94 not pronouncing it correctly, then they should pronounce it as 00:19:02.97\00:19:06.51 close to the original Hebrew as they think. 00:19:06.54\00:19:08.81 But I don't think I'd put that on other people, because we 00:19:08.84\00:19:14.22 speak to God, God is the one who confused the languages, we speak 00:19:14.25\00:19:17.19 to him in our native tongues. 00:19:17.22\00:19:18.55 Jëan: And yeah, let me add, the verse that you're looking at, 00:19:18.59\00:19:20.79 "There is no other name given among men whereby we must 00:19:20.82\00:19:23.43 be saved." 00:19:23.46\00:19:24.76 The word they name means, "The Savior," means, "Jesus." 00:19:24.79\00:19:28.33 We are not saved by a name, we are saved by a person, and we 00:19:28.36\00:19:32.60 refer to that person by a name. 00:19:32.63\00:19:34.84 Now, that name might be pronounced differently in 00:19:34.87\00:19:37.31 different languages, but it's referring to the same person. 00:19:37.34\00:19:40.34 And I think that's the point of the verse, there is one that 00:19:40.38\00:19:42.61 saves us and that's Jesus, he's the Savior. 00:19:42.64\00:19:45.15 Now, if you're speaking Spanish, Jesús, right? 00:19:45.18\00:19:48.45 But it's the same person that we're referring to, we're 00:19:48.48\00:19:50.55 talking about Jesus. 00:19:50.59\00:19:51.89 So I don't think the Bible is saying we all need to speak 00:19:51.92\00:19:54.49 Hebrew, but we all say by the same person, meaning the Savior, 00:19:54.52\00:19:58.99 Christ, which is Jesus. 00:19:59.03\00:20:00.33 Doug: The emphasis is the character, the relationship, not 00:20:00.36\00:20:03.06 how you move your tongue and pronounce it. 00:20:03.10\00:20:06.53 So, yeah, I hope that helps a little bit, James, and 00:20:06.57\00:20:09.44 absolutely, "There is no other name given among men whereby we 00:20:09.47\00:20:12.74 must be saved," than Christ, Messiah. 00:20:12.77\00:20:15.94 Do you wanna say Yeshua or Jesus, it's the same individual, 00:20:15.98\00:20:21.88 depends on what tongue you speak. 00:20:21.92\00:20:23.28 Jëan: And even the Bible writers themselves, they didn't always 00:20:23.32\00:20:25.29 use the exact same name when referring to Christ, sometimes 00:20:25.32\00:20:28.16 the Messiah, sometimes Christ. 00:20:28.19\00:20:30.06 Doug: Oh, go to Revelations, Ge's got 20 names. 00:20:30.09\00:20:31.93 Jëan: That's right, the Alpha and the Omega, right? 00:20:31.96\00:20:33.90 So, different names. 00:20:33.93\00:20:35.40 All right, we got John listening in New York. 00:20:35.43\00:20:37.00 John, welcome to the program. 00:20:37.03\00:20:39.23 John: Yes, Pastor Doug, I really have two questions. 00:20:39.27\00:20:43.41 Can I ask my two questions? 00:20:43.44\00:20:44.97 Doug: Let's start one at a time. 00:20:45.01\00:20:47.18 John: Okay, thank you. 00:20:47.21\00:20:50.11 My first question is, I go to church on Sunday, which is 00:20:50.15\00:20:56.05 called Resurrection Day, correct? 00:20:56.08\00:20:58.72 Doug: Well, yeah, He did rise on Sunday, correct. 00:20:58.75\00:21:01.92 John: Okay, so why am I going to church on Sunday then? 00:21:01.96\00:21:06.83 Doug: Well, do you have a command anywhere in Scripture to 00:21:06.86\00:21:09.60 go to church on the first day of the week. 00:21:09.63\00:21:13.23 John: Not that I know of, but the seventh day was the old 00:21:13.27\00:21:20.18 what's that word I'm looking for? 00:21:20.21\00:21:21.94 I can't think of it. 00:21:21.98\00:21:23.28 Doug: The old covenant? 00:21:23.31\00:21:24.65 John: The old covenant, thank you, right. 00:21:24.68\00:21:26.11 And that was crucified at the cross, and then the new covenant 00:21:26.15\00:21:32.42 doesn't say, "Go to church on Sunday," but why do they worship 00:21:32.45\00:21:37.66 go in on Sunday, Resurrection Day, then? 00:21:37.69\00:21:40.36 Doug: Well, let's talk about that, John, for a second. 00:21:40.40\00:21:43.93 You know what the Ten Commandments are, right? 00:21:43.97\00:21:45.87 John: I know, but that's the old covenant, isn't it? 00:21:45.90\00:21:48.24 Doug: All right, well, let's just bear with me for a second. 00:21:48.27\00:21:51.44 So, the commandment that says, "Don't murder," is that the old 00:21:51.47\00:21:54.74 covenant or are we still supposed to keep that? 00:21:54.78\00:21:57.65 John: No, that one you keep, yes. 00:21:57.68\00:21:59.51 Doug: What about the command that says, "Don't 00:21:59.55\00:22:01.18 commit adultery"? 00:22:01.22\00:22:02.78 John: Yeah, I mean, you're saying that. 00:22:02.82\00:22:04.75 Doug: So, you would agree with all of the Ten Commandments 00:22:04.79\00:22:07.36 except the fourth? 00:22:07.39\00:22:08.72 John: The fourth commandment says to worship on the Sabbath? 00:22:08.76\00:22:12.29 Doug: Yeah, the fourth commandment says, "Remember 00:22:12.33\00:22:14.00 the Sabbath day, to keep it holy." 00:22:14.00\00:22:15.23 So it's the one commandment that God says to remember, and Jesus, 00:22:15.26\00:22:19.97 as His custom was, and we are, a Christian is a follower of 00:22:20.00\00:22:22.97 Christ, as His custom was, it says He went into the synagogue 00:22:23.00\00:22:27.48 on the Sabbath day, and Paul, as his custom was. 00:22:27.51\00:22:31.35 And so, there's no question that, all the way from the time 00:22:31.38\00:22:34.38 of Adam, through the children of Israel, through the New 00:22:34.42\00:22:37.52 Testament, they believed in keeping the 10 Commandments. 00:22:37.55\00:22:40.59 Now, the Sabbath, we believe in all of them, we don't believe in 00:22:40.62\00:22:42.79 one more than the other, we just think you need to be consistent 00:22:42.82\00:22:45.43 and keep them all. 00:22:45.46\00:22:46.80 So, I think that was your first question. 00:22:46.83\00:22:48.33 What was your second question, John? 00:22:48.36\00:22:49.73 Because we're running up against our break here. 00:22:49.76\00:22:52.43 John: Okay, my second question is, I'm blind and God says that 00:22:52.47\00:22:58.84 when He comes with Jesus, that every eye will see Him. 00:22:58.87\00:23:02.74 And if I'm blind, how do I do that? 00:23:02.78\00:23:04.71 Doug: Well, you know what? 00:23:04.75\00:23:06.05 I think that a blind people are going to be healed to see 00:23:06.08\00:23:10.02 the coming of the Lord. 00:23:10.05\00:23:11.72 And how God does that, I don't know, but I have no doubt in my 00:23:11.75\00:23:15.22 mind that He's gonna help them be able to recognize that, 00:23:15.26\00:23:20.90 especially believers. 00:23:20.93\00:23:22.23 Because it says, "At His coming," says, "This mortal must 00:23:22.26\00:23:25.83 put on immortality," so we get immortal, glorified bodies at 00:23:25.87\00:23:29.17 that time. 00:23:29.20\00:23:30.94 Well, I hope that helps a little bit, John. 00:23:30.97\00:23:32.64 Now, we do have a study guide on your first question, it's 00:23:32.67\00:23:36.68 actually a book we'll share with you, tells you the difference 00:23:36.71\00:23:39.58 between the new and the old covenants. 00:23:39.61\00:23:41.15 Jëan: That's a great book, Pastor, but we don't always give 00:23:41.18\00:23:43.05 it away, so we want to encourage you to take advantage of it. 00:23:43.08\00:23:45.42 It's called "Does God's Grace Blot Out the Law?" 00:23:45.45\00:23:47.86 And it really deals with the subject, gives a lot of 00:23:47.89\00:23:50.19 excellent Bible text, talks about the new covenant and 00:23:50.23\00:23:53.26 the old covenant. 00:23:53.29\00:23:54.56 To get that, just call 800-835-6747, and you can ask 00:23:54.60\00:23:58.77 for the book, it's called "Does God's Grace Blot Out the Law?" spending, the Federal Reserve says the average American 00:24:37.21\00:24:41.08 household carries over $137,000 in debt. 00:24:41.11\00:24:45.51 Well, it was never God's plan that we live with the Angels Broadcasting, and Facebook "Amazing Facts." 00:27:49.66\00:27:54.60 What did I forget? 00:27:54.64\00:27:55.97 YouTube. 00:27:56.00\00:27:57.31 Anyway, we're trying to get the word out. 00:27:57.34\00:27:58.67 I'm Doug Batchelor. 00:27:58.71\00:28:00.08 Jëan: My name is Jëan Ross, and we have Julian, who's listening 00:28:00.11\00:28:02.28 in Illinois. 00:28:02.31\00:28:03.61 Julian, welcome to "Bible Answers Live." 00:28:03.65\00:28:05.85 Julian: Hi, how are you guys? 00:28:05.88\00:28:07.18 Doug: Doing well, thank you. 00:28:07.22\00:28:09.12 Julian: So, in Genesis 28:18, it describes Jacob building a 00:28:09.15\00:28:13.19 pillar to honor God, but in Deuteronomy 16:22 it says not 00:28:13.22\00:28:17.66 to build any sacred pillars which God hates. 00:28:17.69\00:28:20.26 And it's probably due to the Canaanite culture, and I just 00:28:20.30\00:28:23.87 wanna know what the difference between Jacob's intentions were 00:28:23.90\00:28:27.10 and what would stop someone from building one today. 00:28:27.14\00:28:30.41 Doug: Yeah-yeah-yeah, you're very sharp that you caught that, 00:28:30.44\00:28:33.44 but actually they're talking about two different things, and 00:28:33.48\00:28:35.91 the word is the same. 00:28:35.94\00:28:37.18 Jacob basically takes the stone that he used as a pillow, and it 00:28:37.21\00:28:41.75 may have been a little bit of a longer stone, and he set it up 00:28:41.78\00:28:45.05 so, if the stone is flat, it's naturally knocked down 00:28:45.09\00:28:49.32 by erosion. 00:28:49.36\00:28:50.66 But he wanted to remember the spot and so he kind of raised it 00:28:50.69\00:28:53.19 up so he'd didn't remember this location, put some oil on it and 00:28:53.23\00:28:57.13 named it Bethel. 00:28:57.17\00:28:58.53 That was very different from when the Canaanites would, their 00:28:58.57\00:29:02.77 pillars were actually carved and they often had sexual 00:29:02.80\00:29:07.24 connotations, and all these rituals and things were obscene. 00:29:07.28\00:29:14.18 And that was very common in a lot of the cultures, not only 00:29:14.22\00:29:18.82 among the Canaanites, you go to Central, South America, you can 00:29:18.85\00:29:21.32 see a lot of the same thing. 00:29:21.36\00:29:23.19 This is what he's talking about in Deuteronomy. 00:29:23.22\00:29:25.26 It wasn't Jacob just setting up an uncarved stone and said, "I 00:29:25.29\00:29:28.50 don't want to forget this spot." 00:29:28.53\00:29:29.90 Because, you see, when the children of Israel crossed the 00:29:29.93\00:29:32.07 Jordan River, they took 12 stones out of the river and they 00:29:32.10\00:29:35.80 made an altar, they used 12 instead of one. 00:29:35.84\00:29:38.64 So they used to make stone memorials to remember events, 00:29:38.67\00:29:42.24 but the key is, Moses said, "You shall not lift up your tool 00:29:42.28\00:29:47.08 upon it." 00:29:47.12\00:29:48.45 As soon as they started carving it, he says, "You do that, 00:29:48.48\00:29:50.15 you polluted it." 00:29:50.19\00:29:51.55 And that's why Elijah rebuilt the altar of the Lord, he took 00:29:51.59\00:29:53.96 the stones. 00:29:53.99\00:29:55.82 That's why it says in Daniel 2, "A stone cut without man's 00:29:55.86\00:29:59.03 hands," meaning it's not an idol like the statue. 00:29:59.06\00:30:03.40 So, good catch, Julian, I hope that makes sense, there are two 00:30:03.43\00:30:06.27 different things that are happening there. 00:30:06.30\00:30:08.17 Jëan: Okay, thank you, we've got Irene, listening in California. 00:30:08.20\00:30:10.91 Irene, welcome to the program. 00:30:10.94\00:30:12.84 Irene: Hi, good evening. 00:30:12.87\00:30:14.18 Doug: Evening. 00:30:14.21\00:30:16.28 Irene: So I would like to ask you to help settle an argument 00:30:16.31\00:30:20.52 we have about the week of creation. 00:30:20.55\00:30:24.49 We know Adam was made on the sixth day, it's a two-part 00:30:24.52\00:30:29.49 question actually, was Eve made later on the sixth day? 00:30:29.52\00:30:36.63 And when did they get married, was it before Sabbath, 00:30:36.67\00:30:39.27 after Sabbath? 00:30:39.30\00:30:40.64 How does that go? 00:30:40.67\00:30:41.97 Yeah, well, as near as we can tell, a lot happened on the 00:30:42.00\00:30:44.04 sixth day. 00:30:44.07\00:30:45.37 When God creates all the land animals, He speaks them into 00:30:45.41\00:30:49.31 existence, God doesn't have to form them one by one and He 00:30:49.34\00:30:51.71 doesn't have to form a million of each, He just has to do two. 00:30:51.75\00:30:54.78 So God forms the animals, and then He forms man, He breathes 00:30:54.82\00:31:00.82 into him the breath of life and makes him from the dust of 00:31:00.86\00:31:05.16 the earth. 00:31:05.19\00:31:06.49 And then Adam is made, he comes out of the factory. 00:31:06.53\00:31:09.70 You can buy a computer, all you gotta do is plug it in and all 00:31:09.73\00:31:12.37 the programs are running. 00:31:12.40\00:31:13.70 Software was installed, he knew how to walk and talk when God 00:31:13.74\00:31:16.60 made him. 00:31:16.64\00:31:17.97 And God said, "Name the animals," and he notices that 00:31:18.01\00:31:21.41 all the animals have partners, and he realizes something's 00:31:21.44\00:31:24.88 missing, God wanted him to sense that need. 00:31:24.91\00:31:27.75 So then, still on the sixth day, when Adam's aiming all the 00:31:27.78\00:31:30.95 animals, we think that he had to name 10,000 zoological species, 00:31:30.99\00:31:34.32 he's naming the main categories of animals. 00:31:34.36\00:31:36.93 And that day, then, God puts him to sleep, takes his rib, makes a 00:31:36.96\00:31:40.96 woman, presents her to Adam, God is basically performing 00:31:41.00\00:31:44.53 the wedding. 00:31:44.57\00:31:45.87 They didn't invite all the guests and have cake, the the 00:31:45.90\00:31:48.20 wedding is when He presents Eve to Adam. 00:31:48.24\00:31:51.61 And the Bible says that God did one funeral, it was for Moses, 00:31:51.64\00:31:54.44 and He does one wedding, it was for Adam. 00:31:54.48\00:31:56.91 So they were both made the sixth day. 00:31:56.95\00:31:59.91 Is that your understanding, Pastor Ross? 00:31:59.95\00:32:01.45 Jëan: Yes, absolutely. 00:32:01.48\00:32:02.72 So, like you say, not only was Adam created on the sixth day, 00:32:02.75\00:32:05.59 he names the animals, then he goes to sleep and a surgery 00:32:05.62\00:32:08.26 takes place. 00:32:08.29\00:32:09.59 God takes out a rib and then forms Eve, and then brings the 00:32:09.62\00:32:13.29 two together, and then, together as a couple, they welcoming the 00:32:13.33\00:32:18.07 Sabbath, the day of rest. 00:32:18.10\00:32:19.77 Doug: Yeah, you know what? 00:32:19.80\00:32:21.10 I just heard recently that they're finding out from within 00:32:21.14\00:32:22.94 the bones, you get the stem cells that are just the most 00:32:22.97\00:32:27.31 powerful cells and they got the DNA and everything. 00:32:27.34\00:32:30.01 And so it actually makes more sense, when you study it, why 00:32:30.05\00:32:32.91 you take a rib. 00:32:32.95\00:32:34.68 Anyway, you had a second part to that question if I'm 00:32:34.72\00:32:37.62 not mistaken. 00:32:37.65\00:32:39.55 Irene: Well, that was the second part, was did they, and Pastor 00:32:39.59\00:32:44.56 Ross just answered it, it was the wedding was done when he 00:32:44.59\00:32:47.66 brought them together, and it was done before Sabbath. 00:32:47.66\00:32:50.73 So, man and female, and the wedding or the marriage part, 00:32:50.77\00:32:55.60 was all done before, in the week of creation, all done before 00:32:55.64\00:32:59.51 Sabbath was created on the seventh day. 00:32:59.54\00:33:01.54 That's what we were arguing, because my son was like. 00:33:01.58\00:33:04.95 Doug: Oh, don't argue. 00:33:04.98\00:33:06.28 Irene: He was like, so good. 00:33:06.31\00:33:07.92 Doug: I don't want to take sides. 00:33:07.95\00:33:11.62 Yeah, so that was, the Sabbath was their honeymoon, if you 00:33:11.65\00:33:14.19 think about it, they spent time with God in the garden. 00:33:14.22\00:33:17.26 Irene: I thought that was a blessing. 00:33:17.29\00:33:18.69 Doug: Yeah, well, God bless, thank you for your question. 00:33:18.73\00:33:21.86 Jëan: Next caller that we have is Steve in Idaho. 00:33:21.90\00:33:23.93 Steve, welcome to "Bible Answers Live." 00:33:23.97\00:33:26.77 Steve: Thank you. 00:33:26.80\00:33:28.04 Good evening, pastors, I just wanted to thank you for taking 00:33:28.07\00:33:30.61 my call, and this resource. 00:33:30.64\00:33:32.67 My question is regarding Deuteronomy 14, and verse 26. 00:33:32.71\00:33:38.88 I've looked into some different Bible commentaries, I understand 00:33:38.91\00:33:43.28 most of it, but I guess I'm just not understanding why. 00:33:43.32\00:33:46.59 It's in regards to timing really, and I guess I just don't 00:33:46.62\00:33:49.92 understand, verse 26 is really throwing me with, 00:33:49.96\00:33:54.46 "Strong drink." 00:33:54.46\00:33:55.80 Doug: All right, well, let me read it for our friends that 00:33:55.83\00:33:57.93 are listening. 00:33:57.97\00:33:59.20 Now, this is talking about when they would go up to these annual 00:33:59.23\00:34:03.04 feasts-not all of the feast days did they actually gather 00:34:03.07\00:34:07.41 together for a convocation. 00:34:07.44\00:34:08.94 But there were, I think, three annual feasts where they would 00:34:08.98\00:34:11.38 go up. 00:34:11.41\00:34:12.71 And during these feasts they had a second tithe. 00:34:12.75\00:34:17.22 Part of that second tithe was, it says, and let me read it, 00:34:17.25\00:34:20.79 Deuteronomy chapter 14:26, "And you'll spend that money for 00:34:20.82\00:34:25.36 whatever your heart desires," he's talking about the second 00:34:25.39\00:34:27.60 tithe, "For oxen or sheep, for wine or similar drink, for 00:34:27.60\00:34:30.73 whatever your heart desires; you shall eat it before the Lord 00:34:30.77\00:34:33.07 your God, and rejoice, you and the household." 00:34:33.10\00:34:35.54 So, there was a feast, it was like a vacation feast, a tithe 00:34:35.57\00:34:39.04 that they would set aside, and that was to be used towards 00:34:39.07\00:34:44.25 worshiping God. 00:34:44.28\00:34:45.68 Now, when it says, "Strong drink," the word "strong drink" 00:34:45.71\00:34:48.55 there, if you look in the New King James, it just says, 00:34:48.58\00:34:50.72 "Similar drink." 00:34:50.75\00:34:53.02 And basically, they could concentrate wine, and because it 00:34:53.05\00:34:57.93 was concentrated, it would transport better, wasn't 00:34:57.96\00:35:00.66 alcoholic, because the Bible says other places, "Wine is a 00:35:00.70\00:35:04.40 mocker, strong drink is raging," and, "Who has wounds? 00:35:04.43\00:35:07.57 Who has woe? 00:35:07.60\00:35:08.94 Who has redness of eyes? 00:35:08.97\00:35:10.27 Those that tarry at the wine." 00:35:10.31\00:35:11.64 So two kinds of wine described in the Bible, you've got your 00:35:11.67\00:35:14.48 fermented and your unfermented. 00:35:14.51\00:35:16.88 Jëan: And it is interesting, Pastor, that you mentioned that 00:35:16.91\00:35:18.65 they had a way of actually preserving grape juice where 00:35:18.68\00:35:21.58 they would be able to boil it or somehow get it to a thick, 00:35:21.62\00:35:25.42 syrupy type of paste, and then you'd add water to it, and mix 00:35:25.45\00:35:29.69 it and dilute it, and it was still fresh and it would keep a 00:35:29.72\00:35:32.56 lot longer. 00:35:32.59\00:35:33.93 And so they had different ways of doing that, easier to 00:35:33.96\00:35:36.13 transport and then they have it throughout the year. 00:35:36.16\00:35:38.27 Doug: Exactly, and they've actually found a lot of the 00:35:38.30\00:35:42.50 vessels and urns that they used to keep these, these amphoras of 00:35:42.54\00:35:46.57 wine in them. 00:35:46.61\00:35:48.18 So, I hope that helps a little bit, Lee, or, sorry, that 00:35:48.21\00:35:51.01 was Steve. 00:35:51.05\00:35:52.35 Steve, thank you. 00:35:52.38\00:35:53.72 By the way, I've got a book I wrote and it's called "Alcohol 00:35:53.75\00:35:56.05 and the Christian," and it talks about this passage, "Alcohol and 00:35:56.08\00:35:58.92 the Christian," we'll send you a free copy. 00:35:58.95\00:36:00.46 Jëan: And the number to call for that is 800-835-6747, and again, 00:36:00.49\00:36:04.49 the book is called "Alcohol and the Christian." 00:36:04.53\00:36:06.56 Also, if you'd like to receive a digital version of that, just 00:36:06.59\00:36:09.23 dial #250, say "Bible Answers Live" and ask for the book, it's 00:36:09.26\00:36:13.50 called "Alcohol and the Christian," and we'll send it 00:36:13.54\00:36:15.84 to you. 00:36:15.87\00:36:17.17 Next call is Lee, in Texas. 00:36:17.21\00:36:18.54 Lee, welcome to the program. 00:36:18.57\00:36:20.71 Lee: Yes, thank you for having me again. 00:36:20.74\00:36:22.48 My first question is, are the seven trumpets past, current or 00:36:22.51\00:36:27.38 future events? 00:36:27.42\00:36:28.75 Because I know they're not the plagues. 00:36:28.78\00:36:30.62 Doug: Well, the seven trumpets cover a military history of the 00:36:30.65\00:36:33.69 church between the first coming and the second coming. 00:36:33.72\00:36:36.56 So, they're not all past, but we're living in them, we believe 00:36:36.59\00:36:40.40 in what they call the historicist view of prophecy, 00:36:40.43\00:36:45.03 that prophecy, a lot of people think Revelation's written for 00:36:45.07\00:36:48.14 the last 10 minutes of time, Revelation was written from the 00:36:48.17\00:36:51.57 time of John to cover the history of the church between 00:36:51.61\00:36:54.91 the first coming and the second coming. 00:36:54.94\00:36:57.25 You got the seven seals are talking about the political 00:36:57.28\00:37:00.72 history, if you will, you've got the seven trumpets are more of 00:37:00.75\00:37:03.72 like a military history, the seven churches give a spiritual 00:37:03.75\00:37:07.02 history of the church from the first to the second coming. 00:37:07.06\00:37:09.62 We're living in the age of Laodicea. 00:37:09.66\00:37:12.06 And what was your second question, you said? 00:37:12.09\00:37:14.56 Lee: Yes, my second question is, I've been doing some research on 00:37:14.60\00:37:20.14 the Euphrates River, that's been drying up recently. 00:37:20.17\00:37:24.47 And even though it's drying up right now, and I know it's part 00:37:24.51\00:37:27.74 of the also the seven last plagues, but if the river dries 00:37:27.78\00:37:30.98 up before the seven last plagues begin, does that have 00:37:31.01\00:37:34.18 specific meaning? 00:37:34.22\00:37:37.52 Doug: It is true that the sixth plague in Revelation 16 talks 00:37:37.55\00:37:42.26 about the Euphrates drying up, I think that's one of the plagues, 00:37:42.29\00:37:45.56 I believe all the plagues have a literal application, I think 00:37:45.59\00:37:48.23 there's really gonna be blood and boils, and it's gonna be 00:37:48.26\00:37:50.57 terrible, that's why it says it's, "A time of trouble such as 00:37:50.60\00:37:53.00 there never has been." 00:37:53.03\00:37:54.34 But I think the emphasis of the sixth plague is on more than 00:37:54.37\00:37:56.77 just the river, I think it's talking about a point in history 00:37:56.81\00:38:00.68 when the Euphrates dried up, when the children of Israel were 00:38:00.71\00:38:03.95 captives in Babylon, it signaled that they were gonna go to the 00:38:03.98\00:38:07.48 promised land because Babylon fell. 00:38:07.52\00:38:10.72 And you read in Revelation, it talks about Babylon falling in 00:38:10.75\00:38:13.66 chapter 18 and 19. 00:38:13.69\00:38:16.12 And so I think the six plague is overlapping that, when the 00:38:16.16\00:38:21.96 source, the power of the Euphrates River to supply life 00:38:22.00\00:38:25.27 to Babylon was dried up. 00:38:25.30\00:38:27.47 Jëan: All right, thank you, Lee. 00:38:27.50\00:38:29.04 We've got Michael in Texas. 00:38:29.07\00:38:30.74 Michael, welcome to the program. 00:38:30.77\00:38:32.54 Michael: Good evening, pastors, and shalom to you all. 00:38:32.57\00:38:35.38 I wonder if you could give me a quick explanation of the, "Sin 00:38:35.41\00:38:38.25 unto death," in 1 John 5:16. 00:38:38.28\00:38:41.22 Doug: All right, Pastor Ross, I've been hogging the time, you 00:38:41.25\00:38:43.22 want to go after that? 00:38:43.25\00:38:44.59 Jëan: Let me read it for you. 00:38:44.62\00:38:45.92 1 John chapter 5, verse 16, it says, "If anyone sees his 00:38:45.95\00:38:48.06 brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask, 00:38:48.09\00:38:51.83 and he will give him life for those who commit sin not leading 00:38:51.86\00:38:56.06 to death." 00:38:56.10\00:38:57.43 So here it talks about something called a sin that does not lead 00:38:57.47\00:39:00.24 to death, what is that sin? 00:39:00.27\00:39:01.97 Well, I think, first of all, it might be a sin of ignorance, if 00:39:02.00\00:39:04.67 somebody does not realize that they are sinning and you bring 00:39:04.71\00:39:10.08 that to their attention, then they're aware of it. 00:39:10.11\00:39:12.88 There is another sin that also is the unpardonable sin, or that 00:39:12.91\00:39:16.99 is the sin against the Holy Spirit, and that is, somebody 00:39:17.02\00:39:19.02 who has grieved away the Holy Spirit, and they have no desire 00:39:19.05\00:39:21.99 for repentance and they have no desire to turn from the sin. 00:39:22.02\00:39:25.33 Well, then, any sin could, in essence, lead to death if we 00:39:25.36\00:39:29.20 rebel against the promptings of the Holy Spirit. 00:39:29.23\00:39:31.43 But the Bible says there are those who sin not knowingly, and 00:39:31.47\00:39:35.24 if you see somebody sinning and you bring it to their attention, 00:39:35.27\00:39:37.84 hopefully, they'll realize and you can share with them 00:39:37.87\00:39:40.44 the Scriptures. 00:39:40.48\00:39:41.78 And if they repent, they can be forgiven, it's a sin that does 00:39:41.81\00:39:44.95 not lead to death. 00:39:44.98\00:39:46.31 But if it is not repented of or if somebody rebels to it, oh, 00:39:46.35\00:39:50.52 that's a different story. 00:39:50.55\00:39:52.09 Doug: That's right. 00:39:52.12\00:39:53.46 Jëan: You know, we do have a book, it's called "The 00:39:53.49\00:39:54.99 Unpardonable Sin," right? It talks about the... 00:39:55.02\00:39:57.46 Doug: It's called "Beyond Mercy, What is the Unpardonable Sin?" 00:39:57.49\00:39:58.79 Jëan: That's right, and we'll be happy to send it to anyone 00:39:58.83\00:40:00.40 who calls and asks. 00:40:00.43\00:40:01.70 The number for that is 800-835-6747, you can ask for 00:40:01.73\00:40:05.20 the book, it's called "Beyond Mercy." 00:40:05.23\00:40:06.94 Or dial #250 on your smartphone, just say "Bible Answers Live," 00:40:06.97\00:40:11.01 and then ask for it by name. 00:40:11.04\00:40:12.77 Thank you, Michael. 00:40:12.81\00:40:14.14 We've got Peter, in New Jersey. 00:40:14.18\00:40:15.48 Peter, welcome to the program. 00:40:15.51\00:40:17.01 Peter: Thank you. 00:40:17.05\00:40:18.35 Good evening, gentlemen. 00:40:18.38\00:40:19.71 And we listen on WMCA, out of New York City, by the way. 00:40:19.75\00:40:21.92 Doug: Oh, wonderful. 00:40:21.95\00:40:24.35 Peter: Yes, some time ago, I became a vegetarian, based on 00:40:24.39\00:40:28.56 Genesis, and also the health evidence of today. 00:40:28.59\00:40:31.59 In today's world, they do seem to indicate that, if they're in 00:40:31.63\00:40:35.26 line with the biblical view of the health benefits of being a 00:40:35.30\00:40:40.30 vegetarian, and I just wanted to ask you guys, I know you guys 00:40:40.34\00:40:43.94 are vegans or vegetarians, would dairy and eggs be in line with 00:40:43.97\00:40:50.51 the Bible as being in that vegetarian group? 00:40:50.55\00:40:54.05 Doug: There's no Scripture that commands vegetarianism, I want 00:40:54.08\00:40:56.79 to be real clear about that, the Scriptures do teach this was 00:40:56.82\00:41:00.26 God's original ideal, meaning Adam and Eve, that was the 00:41:00.29\00:41:04.13 original diet. 00:41:04.16\00:41:05.46 And again, when we get to the new earth, we'll all be 00:41:05.49\00:41:07.50 vegetarian, we're not gonna chase down and kill animals 00:41:07.56\00:41:09.56 there, there's no death, no more pain. 00:41:09.60\00:41:12.27 So, it's obviously the better design, and as you mentioned, 00:41:12.30\00:41:16.50 the jury is in that there's no question that vegetarianism is 00:41:16.54\00:41:21.48 going to improve whatever health you have. 00:41:21.51\00:41:24.18 Even people fighting cancer have found that they respond much 00:41:24.21\00:41:27.85 better to treatment if they're being careful about their diet. 00:41:27.88\00:41:31.52 The fewer animal products you eat, the less disease 00:41:31.55\00:41:35.22 you'll have. 00:41:35.26\00:41:36.49 Now, it doesn't mean that milk, I'm a vegan-vegetarian, and it's 00:41:36.52\00:41:40.40 not a religious thing for me, it's just I'm allergic to milk, 00:41:40.43\00:41:43.20 I don't think Pastor Ross is a vegetarian-vegetarian, and 00:41:43.23\00:41:46.87 probably vegan most of the time. 00:41:46.90\00:41:48.50 Jëan: Yeah, mostly vegan, but, you know, eggs is one of those 00:41:48.54\00:41:50.87 categories that sometimes people need to eat it if they're not 00:41:50.91\00:41:54.58 getting enough protein. 00:41:54.61\00:41:55.91 But typically, the vegetarian diet, today, if you eat a 00:41:55.94\00:41:57.61 well-balanced diet, you've got everything you need. 00:41:57.65\00:42:00.52 Doug: A peanut butter and jelly sandwich, if you got good jelly 00:42:00.55\00:42:03.99 and good peanut butter, has got your fruits, grains and nuts and 00:42:04.02\00:42:06.76 protein, everything is in there, B-12. 00:42:06.79\00:42:09.56 And that's how we survived our youth, is peanut butter. 00:42:09.59\00:42:13.73 I wasn't even a vegetarian back then. 00:42:13.76\00:42:15.76 So, yeah, it's not hard, I've been a vegetarian for, well, you 00:42:15.80\00:42:18.57 all your life, huh? 00:42:18.60\00:42:19.93 I've been a vegetarian for over 40 years, and yeah, we had a 00:42:19.97\00:42:23.67 good game of racquetball today. 00:42:23.71\00:42:25.37 Jëan: We did, with our boys, it was fun. 00:42:25.41\00:42:26.78 Doug: We kept up with our boys. 00:42:26.81\00:42:28.61 So, yeah, we highly recommend it, but I just want to be clear, 00:42:28.64\00:42:31.95 the Bible doesn't command vegetarianism, it is preferable, 00:42:31.98\00:42:35.95 and it's be blessed if you do, if you're gonna eat meat, the 00:42:35.98\00:42:40.06 Bible does say you shouldn't eat the unclean meats, and we have a 00:42:40.09\00:42:43.32 lesson on that, Pastor Ross. 00:42:43.36\00:42:44.59 Jëan: We do, it's called "God's Free Health Plan," and that's 00:42:44.63\00:42:47.30 exactly what it is. 00:42:47.30\00:42:48.60 What does the Bible say about your health? 00:42:48.63\00:42:49.93 What can you eat? 00:42:49.96\00:42:51.30 What you should not eat. 00:42:51.33\00:42:52.63 We'll be happy to send it to anyone who calls and asks, the 00:42:52.67\00:42:54.54 number is 800-835-6747. 00:42:54.57\00:42:57.57 You can ask for that study guide, it's called "God's Free 00:42:57.61\00:42:59.87 Health Plan." 00:42:59.91\00:43:01.31 Or dial #250 on your smartphone and just say, "Bible Answers 00:43:01.34\00:43:04.38 Live," and we'll be happy to get that to you. 00:43:04.41\00:43:06.65 That's a digital version, if you do the #250. 00:43:06.68\00:43:09.92 Next caller that we have is Efrank, listening in New York. 00:43:09.95\00:43:13.09 Efrank, welcome to the program. 00:43:13.12\00:43:15.32 Efrank: Thank you very much, Pastor Ross and Pastor Doug. 00:43:15.36\00:43:20.80 I have a question that I need to ask because it's a question that 00:43:20.83\00:43:25.57 involves an encounter that I had several years ago. 00:43:25.60\00:43:31.44 This has to do with a a being that approached me, I don't know 00:43:31.47\00:43:36.41 if it was the Grim Reaper, it was some spirit with a brown 00:43:36.44\00:43:40.85 cape and a bald head, and would denounce me and say to me that 00:43:40.88\00:43:47.02 my father will die of a heart attack eventually, because I got 00:43:47.06\00:43:51.86 in the way of defending a major Italian crime boss of a major 00:43:51.89\00:43:58.90 New York City crime family. 00:43:58.93\00:44:01.64 And spirit would appear to at my door and threaten my father all 00:44:01.67\00:44:06.04 the time, and he actually died two years ago of a heart attack. 00:44:06.07\00:44:09.91 At the same time, I also was approached by a spirit of a 00:44:09.94\00:44:13.95 deceased relative of a former mayor of the City of New York. 00:44:13.98\00:44:19.52 And one day, that spirit attacked me in my apartment and 00:44:19.55\00:44:24.29 it launched me into my wall. 00:44:24.33\00:44:26.63 So, Pastor Doug and Pastor Batchelor, I want to ask 00:44:26.66\00:44:31.30 you this. 00:44:31.33\00:44:33.30 This second spirit said that because I went involuntarily to 00:44:33.34\00:44:39.71 the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado, in 1974, and I did 00:44:39.74\00:44:46.51 speak to Stephen King, on October 30th, 1974, and in 1991 00:44:46.55\00:44:51.45 and 1995, the spirit of the of Jimmy Walker's dead relative 00:44:51.49\00:44:57.33 followed me up to my home. 00:44:57.36\00:44:59.56 And in the Bible, it says that unclean spirits and evil spirits 00:44:59.59\00:45:03.67 can be rebuked through prayer and meditation and fasting, but 00:45:03.70\00:45:09.30 mostly through prayer. 00:45:09.34\00:45:11.31 Can you answer this question, can you actually rebuke spirits 00:45:11.34\00:45:16.48 through reading Scripture and telling them to stay away from 00:45:16.51\00:45:20.55 you, and rebuke them that way? 00:45:20.58\00:45:22.15 Because I have no recourse in calling a minister of the cloth 00:45:22.18\00:45:27.79 or any other type of clergy to assist me with what happened 00:45:27.82\00:45:30.83 to me. 00:45:30.86\00:45:32.16 Doug: Okay, 00:45:32.19\00:45:33.53 well, yeah, let me get to the heart of your question. 00:45:33.56\00:45:35.20 First of all, you don't have to be a pastor to pray that a 00:45:35.23\00:45:38.70 person might be delivered. 00:45:38.73\00:45:41.04 Jesus said in Mark 16, "These signs will follow them that 00:45:41.07\00:45:45.14 believe,"He didn't say these signs will follow the pastors. 00:45:45.17\00:45:49.24 And so believers and you don't want to be getting involved into 00:45:49.28\00:45:54.75 a lot of spiritualism, Bible tells in Acts, I think it's 00:45:54.78\00:45:59.49 chapter 13, the sons of Sceva tried to cast out a devil, they 00:45:59.52\00:46:02.36 didn't really know the Lord, they had no relationship with 00:46:02.39\00:46:04.39 the Lord, and this demon-possessed man beat them 00:46:04.43\00:46:06.76 up, said, "I know Jesus and I know Paul, but I don't 00:46:06.80\00:46:09.80 know you." 00:46:09.83\00:46:11.13 So if you're gonna be praying that a person is delivered, 00:46:11.17\00:46:14.54 Jesus said, "Some cases are difficult and they only come out 00:46:14.57\00:46:17.31 through prayer and fasting," but he did make it clear, through 00:46:17.34\00:46:21.14 prayer, through faith, through fasting and claiming the name of 00:46:21.18\00:46:24.55 the Lord that we could see people delivered from the devil. 00:46:24.58\00:46:28.78 Because, in reality, every time you preach the gospel and a 00:46:28.82\00:46:32.09 person accepts Jesus, they are being delivered from the devil 00:46:32.12\00:46:35.96 to some extent. 00:46:35.99\00:46:37.29 There's just varying degrees of captivity, you might say, but 00:46:37.33\00:46:40.76 everybody that hears the gospel and accepts it, the power of the 00:46:40.80\00:46:43.37 Word takes them from darkness to light. 00:46:43.40\00:46:46.57 And so, closer you are to the Lord, and the more faith, I 00:46:46.60\00:46:52.31 think that it's easier for you to deal with more 00:46:52.34\00:46:55.08 difficult cases. 00:46:55.11\00:46:56.44 There are varying degrees, Jesus had that man that had a whole 00:46:56.48\00:46:59.35 legion of demons, sometimes it's just one. 00:46:59.38\00:47:02.55 So, I hope that helps you, Efrank. 00:47:02.58\00:47:04.59 It sounds like you've had an interesting experience, but 00:47:04.62\00:47:06.92 don't be reading Stephen King's books anymore. 00:47:06.96\00:47:09.32 Jëan: All right, next caller that we have is Francisco, 00:47:09.36\00:47:12.36 in Oregon. 00:47:12.39\00:47:13.70 Francisco, welcome to the program. 00:47:13.73\00:47:16.03 Francisco: Hi, it's a pleasure, first of all, to be online with 00:47:16.06\00:47:20.77 you guys, especially Pastor Batchelor, I'm a big fan. 00:47:20.80\00:47:24.81 So I have a question. 00:47:24.84\00:47:26.24 So I've been Seventh Day Adventist for 14 years of my 00:47:26.27\00:47:28.61 life, I'm 26 years old, and I'm concerned of how, the Seventh 00:47:28.64\00:47:33.98 Day Adventists, we do not believe talking in tongues, nor 00:47:34.02\00:47:40.29 dancing, the whole nine yards of that nature, and I'm just 00:47:40.32\00:47:45.43 wondering why. 00:47:45.46\00:47:46.76 Doug: Well, there are two different things you're talking 00:47:46.80\00:47:48.23 about there. 00:47:48.26\00:47:49.56 One, what does the Bible say? 00:47:49.60\00:47:51.83 And the interesting thing for me is not what a church teaches, 00:47:51.87\00:47:55.10 but what does the Bible say? 00:47:55.14\00:47:57.27 The Bible teaches that speaking in tongues, I believe in 00:47:57.31\00:48:02.11 speaking in tongues, and I believe in the gift of tongues. 00:48:02.14\00:48:05.81 On the day of Pentecost, God poured out His Spirit and gave 00:48:05.85\00:48:08.68 the disciples the supernatural ability to speak in the 00:48:08.72\00:48:12.35 languages of the Jews that were visiting that day from around 00:48:12.39\00:48:15.26 the Roman Empire. 00:48:15.29\00:48:16.52 That is the gift of tongues, we believe in the gift of tongues. 00:48:16.56\00:48:19.29 For every truth of God there's a counterfeit, and a lot of 00:48:19.33\00:48:21.86 churches are practicing a counterfeit version of this. 00:48:21.90\00:48:26.67 So, to just tie off that first part of the question, Francisco, 00:48:26.70\00:48:32.87 we have a book called "Understanding Tongues," we will 00:48:32.91\00:48:35.78 send you a free copy of that book. 00:48:35.81\00:48:38.65 But you asked about dancing, the Bible does not forbid biblical 00:48:38.68\00:48:43.45 dancing if you're dancing like Miriam and David, those where a 00:48:43.49\00:48:48.79 person can be filled with the Spirit and just leap for joy. 00:48:48.82\00:48:52.59 The syncopated, sexually suggestive dancing is 00:48:52.63\00:48:56.10 inappropriate for a Christian, and that's what happens in most 00:48:56.13\00:48:59.33 dance clubs. 00:48:59.37\00:49:00.94 You just have to ask yourself, "Would Jesus do this?" 00:49:00.97\00:49:03.84 If it's a Christian. 00:49:03.87\00:49:05.17 So, that's a different subject. 00:49:05.21\00:49:06.68 But how do they get that book on tongues? 00:49:06.71\00:49:09.01 Jëan: Number to call is 800-835-6747, you can ask for 00:49:09.04\00:49:12.51 the book, it's called "Understanding Tongues." 00:49:12.55\00:49:14.78 We'll be happy to send it to anyone who calls and asks, you 00:49:14.82\00:49:17.02 can also dial #250, say, "Bible Answers Live," and then ask for 00:49:17.05\00:49:21.12 that book. 00:49:21.16\00:49:22.49 It's a digital version, we'll send it to you, 00:49:22.52\00:49:24.03 "Understanding Tongues." 00:49:24.06\00:49:26.13 All right, we've got time maybe for one or two more. 00:49:26.16\00:49:27.86 We've got, let's see, Tom is listening in Washington. 00:49:27.93\00:49:31.07 Tom, welcome to the program. 00:49:31.10\00:49:34.04 Tom: Hi, Pastor Jëan and Pastor Doug. 00:49:34.07\00:49:36.57 Doug: Hey, thanks for calling, Tom. 00:49:36.60\00:49:38.91 Tom: And my question is about the second death, and I'm just 00:49:38.94\00:49:42.88 curious if that's a literal fire, because I'm just wondering 00:49:42.91\00:49:49.05 if angels are susceptible to the fire as we know it. 00:49:49.08\00:49:54.19 Doug: Yeah, that is a good question. 00:49:54.22\00:49:55.72 Well, it's probably not the kind of hickory fire you would use in 00:49:55.76\00:49:59.33 a barbecue, this is a fire of God, so I think you're right 00:49:59.36\00:50:03.16 that it may even be different than the fire that came down on 00:50:03.20\00:50:06.03 Sodom and Gomorrah. 00:50:06.07\00:50:07.37 But because it's a fire that does not burn them immediately, 00:50:07.40\00:50:11.31 some will suffer different intensities and different 00:50:11.34\00:50:13.98 lengths, depending on what their sins are. 00:50:14.01\00:50:17.08 Ultimately, it says the fire comes down from heaven and 00:50:17.11\00:50:19.91 devours or consumes them. 00:50:19.95\00:50:22.45 So, we're not going to be looking out of our windows from 00:50:22.48\00:50:24.75 the New Jerusalem and watching people blister in the flames. 00:50:24.79\00:50:28.22 But yeah, it may be the fire that comes from God, the Bible 00:50:28.26\00:50:32.66 talks about that, "Our God is a consuming fire." 00:50:32.69\00:50:35.20 His presence, His glory, His brightness, there may be some 00:50:35.23\00:50:38.97 heat, think more like lightning as opposed to bonfire. 00:50:39.00\00:50:44.34 Jëan: And something else about this fire is it says, "It 00:50:44.37\00:50:46.57 consumes the devil and these angels." 00:50:46.61\00:50:48.74 Now these are spirit beings, so they probably don't get affected 00:50:48.78\00:50:51.61 by heat the way we do. 00:50:51.65\00:50:53.15 So, it is something different. 00:50:53.18\00:50:54.48 Doug: It's a judgment fire. 00:50:54.52\00:50:55.85 Jëan: It's a judgment fire, a different kind of fire. 00:50:55.88\00:50:58.05 You know, we have a study guide, it's called "Is the Devil in 00:50:58.09\00:51:00.59 Charge of Hell?" 00:51:00.62\00:51:01.96 It talks about the destruction of the wicked, the second death 00:51:01.99\00:51:04.06 at the end of the 1,000 years. 00:51:04.09\00:51:05.66 We'll be happy to send it to anyone who calls and asks. 00:51:05.69\00:51:07.66 Again, that number is 800-835-6747. 00:51:07.73\00:51:11.47 You can ask, the study guide "Is the Devil in Charge of Hell?" 00:51:11.50\00:51:14.40 Or just dial #250 on your smartphone, say, "Bible Answers 00:51:14.44\00:51:18.44 Live," and then you can ask for it by name, "Is the Devil in 00:51:18.47\00:51:21.18 Charge of Hell?" 00:51:21.21\00:51:22.51 And we've got a website, it's called HellTruth.com, you can go 00:51:22.54\00:51:25.71 there right away and you can read the lesson there, you can 00:51:25.75\00:51:28.35 also watch some videos and just look at some great Bible studies 00:51:28.38\00:51:31.05 on the subject. 00:51:31.09\00:51:32.42 Doug: For those listening, in case you don't know, we're gonna 00:51:32.45\00:51:34.86 say goodbye to our friends that are listening on satellite, 00:51:34.89\00:51:37.73 these land-based stations operate on a different clock, 00:51:37.76\00:51:41.16 so we kind of sign off in two stages. 00:51:41.20\00:51:43.20 For the rest of you, if you stay by, we always do our best to do 00:51:43.23\00:51:47.00 00:51:52.01\00:51:54.11 again next week. 00:51:54.14\00:51:55.58 And yeah, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, and visit the 00:51:55.61\00:51:59.21 AmazingFacts.org website. 00:51:59.25\00:52:01.52 Jëan: We'll be right back. 00:52:01.55\00:52:03.49 male announcer: Thank you for listening to today's broadcast, 00:52:05.05\00:52:07.79 we hope you understand your Bible even better than before. 00:52:07.82\00:52:11.33 "Bible Answers Live" is produced by Amazing Facts International, 00:52:11.36\00:52:15.56 a faith-based ministry located in Granite Bay, California. 00:52:15.60\00:52:19.97 Diana Dixon: My name is Diana Dixon, I'm a professional 00:52:20.80\00:52:23.81 truck driver. 00:52:23.84\00:52:25.17 In August the 4th, 2011, I stopped to help in an accident. 00:52:25.21\00:52:28.58 male announcer: Diana Dixon also tried to help, she parked her 00:52:28.61\00:52:31.55 semi, jumped out and headed toward the pickup. 00:52:31.58\00:52:34.62 That's when she saw vehicles barreling toward her, so she 00:52:34.65\00:52:37.85 reacted by jumping off 475 to a road below. 00:52:37.89\00:52:41.79 Diana Dixon: Well, pick a pickup clipped a semi, and I stopped to 00:52:41.82\00:52:44.73 help, and I saw it in the mirror, so I walked back, 00:52:44.76\00:52:46.80 gentleman told me, he says, "Hey, everything is okay, they 00:52:46.83\00:52:49.23 called 911." 00:52:49.26\00:52:50.57 And I looked over at the pickup, and there was a black pickup 00:52:50.60\00:52:53.54 over there and he was okay. 00:52:53.57\00:52:54.90 At about that time, I don't know how far I walked, but I walked 00:52:54.94\00:52:57.71 far enough, and a semi hit him and it imploded. 00:52:57.74\00:53:02.58 I knew it was gonna hit me, I had 30 seconds to decide and I 00:53:02.61\00:53:06.61 decided to jump. 00:53:06.65\00:53:07.98 Diana Dixon: Yeah, I jumped off the bridge, my back is broken. 00:53:08.02\00:53:12.52 male announcer: Where are you at? 00:53:12.55\00:53:14.06 Diana Dixon: I don't know. 00:53:14.09\00:53:15.86 Diana Dixon: Fractured my pelvis in 24 places, five broken ribs, 00:53:15.89\00:53:19.56 C5 neck fracture, I had a collapsed lung, I had a 00:53:19.59\00:53:23.50 lacerated bladder, I was bleeding internally, I had no 00:53:23.53\00:53:27.20 marks on the outside of me at all, but a scrape where my arm 00:53:27.24\00:53:30.14 had scraped the concrete. 00:53:30.17\00:53:31.51 From the chest down, I was on fire. 00:53:31.54\00:53:33.68 I was a dispatcher for a year after the accident, and I went 00:53:33.71\00:53:37.88 back to finish my degree. 00:53:37.91\00:53:39.85 And I went to Pittsburgh, threw a backpack over my back, walked 00:53:39.88\00:53:43.95 like all the other students. 00:53:43.99\00:53:45.65 I ran a marathon, and since then I've been back to truck driving. 00:53:45.69\00:53:50.56 There was a gentleman I worked with and one day he was walking 00:53:50.59\00:53:54.10 in, and he walked up to my desk and I was reading my Bible. 00:53:54.10\00:53:57.17 And he says, "Are you a believer?" 00:53:57.20\00:53:59.70 And I said yes, and he gave me some "Amazing Facts" study 00:53:59.73\00:54:03.54 guides, and it was an eye-opening experience for me. 00:54:03.57\00:54:08.01 I mean, I started reading them and I had a bunch of questions 00:54:08.04\00:54:09.81 to ask him. 00:54:09.84\00:54:11.18 So I got online and I got on the "Amazing Facts" web page, and I 00:54:11.21\00:54:16.45 just found information that I'd never known. 00:54:16.48\00:54:20.49 I went back to work as a truck driver because that was my 00:54:20.52\00:54:22.92 ministry, it was my ministry before the accident. 00:54:22.96\00:54:26.26 And I was driving down the road and I just needed a connection, 00:54:26.29\00:54:30.27 and I was flipping through and somehow I ended up on YouTube. 00:54:30.30\00:54:33.50 And next thing I know, "Amazing Facts," one of those things 00:54:33.54\00:54:36.74 would come up there and I listened to it. 00:54:36.77\00:54:38.94 I'm driving down the road, I got 11 hours of driving, so I 00:54:38.97\00:54:43.65 listened to one, I listened to another one. 00:54:43.68\00:54:45.81 And the more I listened to him, everything that I thought in my 00:54:45.85\00:54:48.28 heart, I'd just click on one of his YouTubes and there he was 00:54:48.32\00:54:51.45 giving me the answer. 00:54:51.49\00:54:52.82 I walked in a Seventh Day Adventist church for the first 00:54:52.85\00:54:54.99 time, and I felt at home. 00:54:55.02\00:54:57.63 I was baptized in the Seventh Day Adventist church, because I 00:54:57.66\00:55:01.13 had found the truth that I just was searching for and I'd been 00:55:01.16\00:55:05.57 praying about. 00:55:05.60\00:55:06.90 "Amazing Facts" has been such an inspiration, and important for 00:55:06.94\00:55:11.04 my coming back into ministry, that I wanna be able to give 00:55:11.07\00:55:14.94 back to anyone that I can. 00:55:14.98\00:55:17.05 And "Amazing Facts," it is the backbone of my ministry. 00:55:17.08\00:55:22.15 My name is Diana Dixon, thank you for changing my life. 00:55:22.18\00:55:26.86 Jëan: Hello, friends, and welcome back to your 00:55:31.66\00:55:33.76 email questions. 00:55:33.80\00:55:35.06 If you'd like to send us a email question, the email address 00:55:35.10\00:55:37.63 is BALquestions@AmazingFacts.org. 00:55:37.67\00:55:42.74 Sorry, BAL, "Bible Answers 00:55:42.77\00:55:44.67 Live," BALquestions@AmazingFacts.org. 00:55:44.71\00:55:48.28 Pastor Doug, Tiffany is asking, "Is it okay to lend to people 00:55:48.31\00:55:51.85 your tithes if you do not have any cash to lend them?" 00:55:51.88\00:55:56.02 Doug: Well, there's a misnomer in the question, it says, 00:55:56.05\00:55:58.59 "Your tithe." 00:55:58.62\00:55:59.95 Tithe is actually something that belongs to God, the Bible says 00:56:00.06\00:56:02.76 it's holy unto the Lord. 00:56:02.79\00:56:04.39 And so you're kind of asking the question, "Is it okay to lend 00:56:04.43\00:56:07.13 God's tithe to someone else?" 00:56:07.13\00:56:09.20 It's always easy to lend someone else's money, that's called 00:56:09.23\00:56:11.23 government, that's what they do. 00:56:11.27\00:56:13.84 But no, I think that that belongs to the Lord and we 00:56:13.87\00:56:17.57 shouldn't be lending that to other people. 00:56:17.61\00:56:19.91 There is a second tithe that they would give to the poor 00:56:19.94\00:56:22.44 during the feast sometimes, that's a whole different 00:56:22.48\00:56:24.58 question though. 00:56:24.61\00:56:25.95 But your first 10%, that really belongs to the Lord and is 00:56:25.98\00:56:29.02 designated for the proclamation of the gospel. 00:56:29.05\00:56:31.32 Jëan: Okay, we have Lenya, from New Zealand, asking, "Is it all 00:56:31.35\00:56:34.76 right to read the Book of Enoch?" 00:56:34.79\00:56:37.83 Doug: Yeah, the Book of Enoch is what they call an apocryphal 00:56:37.86\00:56:40.63 book, it is interesting, it's a wonderful work of poetry, it's 00:56:40.66\00:56:43.53 got some things in there that are theologically bizarre, it 00:56:43.57\00:56:47.14 was not written by Enoch. 00:56:47.17\00:56:49.07 The book doesn't appear in Jewish history until the time of 00:56:49.10\00:56:52.11 the Babylonian captivity, there's no reference to it. 00:56:52.14\00:56:54.38 So, it was written by probably a very devout Jew, there's some 00:56:54.41\00:56:58.18 good information in there, just don't look at it as Scripture. 00:56:58.21\00:57:01.95 Jude does quote from the Book of Enoch, and of course, Paul even 00:57:01.98\00:57:05.49 quotes from Greek poets, because there are certain phrases, he 00:57:05.52\00:57:09.82 said, "This is an inspired phrase." 00:57:09.86\00:57:11.93 But the Book of Enoch is not Scripture. 00:57:11.96\00:57:15.46 Jëan: Okay, we have Judy asking, What does the Bible mean when it 00:57:15.50\00:57:18.57 says, "'And as many as have been appointed to eternal 00:57:18.60\00:57:22.60 life believed'? 00:57:22.64\00:57:23.94 Does that mean that God chooses who saved and who's lost?" 00:57:23.97\00:57:27.58 Doug: God gives everybody a free choice, but God knows everything 00:57:27.61\00:57:31.98 and He knows ahead of time how people are going to choose, but 00:57:32.01\00:57:36.25 he's given them freedom to choose. 00:57:36.28\00:57:38.52 When they choose, they're called appointed, it means those who he 00:57:38.55\00:57:42.69 knew would choose, they are appointed unto everlasting life. 00:57:42.72\00:57:47.03 And so, no, we don't believe in what they would call 00:57:47.10\00:57:49.40 predestination, meaning that God looks down and says, "I think 00:57:49.43\00:57:52.37 I'll make some people and destroy them, and then I'll make 00:57:52.40\00:57:54.44 some and save them." 00:57:54.47\00:57:55.70 God makes everybody free, and then He says, "Whosoever will, 00:57:55.74\00:57:59.51 let him take the water of life freely." 00:57:59.54\00:58:01.38 Jesus tells us, John 3:16, "Whosoever believes in Him." 00:58:01.41\00:58:05.45 Friends, you are a whosoever, anyone out there listening, you 00:58:05.48\00:58:08.92 can believe, that's why we do this program. 00:58:08.95\00:58:11.39 God bless. 00:58:11.42\00:58:12.75 We will study His Word with you again next week, and in the
