come back to their same land,

after such a long period of time

the central reason for that was

the Scriptures.

The Scriptures are one reason
they continue to thrive, because

they would always teach the
young people to read, so they

did well in education, and high
offices, and finances, as well,

and it helped to maintain their
identity, because their whole

on the Scriptures.

as Christians, we are in

a sense spiritual Israel.

It's what gives us our freedom
and our identity where we are.

apprentice named Elisha.

prayed that the spirit of Elijah

portion would fall on him,

Spirit, the spirit of revival.

that will go in the spirit and

crime, but they were acquitted,

they were given a white stone.

they were given a black stone.

saying, "I'll give him a white

some of the teachings of Paul

things that Paul says that are

this morning, and I come across

this supposed to take place?

begins with him explaining his

conversion experience, saying,
"In the year that King Uzziah

died, I saw the Lord."

he feels he's not worthy.
00:37:08.39\00:37:11.99
He says, "Now woe is
me," and God forgives him,
00:37:12.03\00:37:13.96
and says, "Who will I send?"
00:37:14.00\00:37:15.63
And he kind of accepts the role
of prophet, and then God says,
00:37:15.66\00:37:18.60
"Go tell this people."
00:37:18.63\00:37:20.47
And then as you read in the
following chapters, he's got

several chapters with a message
for Israel, and this is during
00:37:23.91\00:37:27.44
the time of Ahaz and Hezekiah,
and I think even, is it Amos?

Anyway, Manasseh, ultimately
the son of Hezekiah, killed him.

So Isaiah prophesied
during the time of three kings.

Actually, I think it tells us

during the days of Uzziah,

prophesied shortly before

"Until the cities are laid waste

Well, that was a prophecy that,
as you mentioned, really met its

fulfillment just some 60, 70
years later with the destruction

of Jerusalem.

prophet providing warning to the

Jerusalem and to the Jews
