Let me read those verses. 00:02:33.82\00:02:36.45 You find that in Revelation chapter 13 00:02:36.48\00:02:38.59 and beginning in verse 11. 00:02:38.62\00:02:40.46 "Then I saw another beast coming up from the earth, 00:02:40.49\00:02:43.06 and he had two horns like a lamb but he spake as a dragon. 00:02:43.09\00:02:47.03 And he exercised all the authority of the first beast in 00:02:47.03\00:02:49.86 his presence and caused the earth and those who dwell in it 00:02:49.90\00:02:52.93 to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. 00:02:52.97\00:02:56.40 And he performed great signs, so that he even makes fire come 00:02:56.44\00:02:59.84 down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men." 00:02:59.87\00:03:03.14 Now, if we allow the Bible to interpret itself and you look at 00:03:03.88\00:03:07.02 the various clues in the very passage, this power represented 00:03:07.05\00:03:10.72 as coming up from the earth is none other than 00:03:10.75\00:03:12.89 the United States of America. 00:03:12.92\00:03:14.56 It came just in time. 00:03:14.59\00:03:16.12 And even though it was founded on the principles of civil 00:03:16.16\00:03:18.83 and religious freedom, according to the verse there is going 00:03:18.86\00:03:21.40 to be a change that occurs in this nation. 00:03:21.43\00:03:24.37 You know, Pastor Crews, Amazing Facts has a magazine 00:03:24.40\00:03:27.64 that I think everyone needs to read. 00:03:27.67\00:03:29.60 It's called "America in Prophecy," and this is 00:03:29.64\00:03:32.24 our free gift to anyone who is watching or listening. 00:03:32.27\00:03:34.28 We'll be happy to send it to you. 00:03:34.31\00:03:35.91 All you need to do is call. 00:03:35.94\00:03:38.05 The number is 800-835-6747 and you can ask for that free gift. 00:03:38.08\00:03:42.75 It's "America in Prophecy." You are our young adult pastor 00:04:12.85\00:04:15.82 at the Granite Bay Hilltop Church. 00:04:15.85\00:04:17.45 So thank you for joining us here at Amazing Facts. 00:04:17.49\00:04:19.59 Aron: Great to be here. 00:04:19.62\00:04:21.19 Jean: Now, of course, before we go to the phone lines we 00:04:21.22\00:04:23.16 always want to begin with prayer because we recognize 00:04:23.19\00:04:25.23 the Bible is God's book. 00:04:25.26\00:04:26.59 So why don't you open with the word of prayer? 00:04:26.63\00:04:28.46 Aron: All right. Let's pray. 00:04:28.50\00:04:30.23 Dear heavenly Father, Lord, as we spend this next hour 00:04:30.27\00:04:32.87 answering questions from Your Word, 00:04:32.90\00:04:35.30 we ask that Your Holy Spirit guide us as we direct people 00:04:35.34\00:04:39.34 to what Your Scripture says and what it means for us today. 00:04:39.37\00:04:43.35 So we ask for You to guide us in Jesus's name. 00:04:43.38\00:04:45.65 Amen. Jean: Amen. 00:04:45.68\00:04:48.18 We're ready to go to the phone lines. 00:04:48.22\00:04:50.32 Who's our first caller for this evening? 00:04:50.35\00:04:51.65 Aron: All right, let's get going. 00:04:51.69\00:04:53.05 Our first caller today is Junith calling in from Nevada. 00:04:53.09\00:04:56.46 Hello, Junith. 00:04:56.49\00:04:58.43 Welcome to the show. 00:04:58.46\00:05:00.33 What's your Bible question? Junith: Hello. 00:05:00.36\00:05:02.90 Yes. Good evening to you both. 00:05:02.93\00:05:04.93 My question is, what would have happened to the destiny 00:05:04.97\00:05:08.40 of Adam and Eve and the devil when Adam and Eve 00:05:08.44\00:05:12.47 were not deceived by the devil? 00:05:12.51\00:05:14.78 Jean: All right. Well, good question. 00:05:14.81\00:05:17.25 What would have happened if Adam and Eve did not fall prey 00:05:17.28\00:05:19.88 to the devil's deceptions? 00:05:19.91\00:05:21.25 Well, of course the Bible doesn't tell. 00:05:21.28\00:05:23.49 Now, we do know that God created a perfect world; and Adam 00:05:23.52\00:05:26.22 and Eve, they were complete and perfect and God had a beautiful 00:05:26.25\00:05:29.12 garden which was their home and had they remained loyal 00:05:29.16\00:05:32.99 or faithful to God they would have fulfilled His purpose. 00:05:33.03\00:05:35.26 God said, "Be fruitful and multiply 00:05:35.30\00:05:37.30 and replenish the earth." 00:05:37.33\00:05:39.00 The earth would have been populated with human beings 00:05:39.03\00:05:42.17 living immortal, eating from the tree of life, and worshiping, 00:05:42.20\00:05:44.97 and praising God, and having an opportunity to communicate 00:05:45.01\00:05:48.04 with the angels. 00:05:48.08\00:05:49.41 How different this world would be 00:05:49.44\00:05:50.85 had Adam and Eve remained faithful. 00:05:50.88\00:05:53.42 What would have happened to the devil if Adam and Eve 00:05:53.45\00:05:55.55 remained loyal? 00:05:55.58\00:05:56.95 Well, the Bible doesn't say. 00:05:56.99\00:05:58.32 I mean, I think there was a probationary time given 00:05:58.35\00:06:00.32 even to the devil for him to try and prove his case. 00:06:00.36\00:06:04.19 Had Adam and Eve not fallen, I don't know, maybe the end of 00:06:04.23\00:06:06.90 the devil would have come sooner. 00:06:06.93\00:06:08.70 But in giving it to the devil's temptation, the devil claimed 00:06:08.73\00:06:10.87 the earth as his sort of got a foothold, you might say, in the 00:06:10.90\00:06:14.80 universe and we see the great controversy between Christ 00:06:14.84\00:06:18.14 and Satan, good and evil playing out in our world and 00:06:18.17\00:06:20.78 of course that's even playing out in our hearts and lives. 00:06:20.81\00:06:22.98 Aron: That's right. 00:06:23.01\00:06:24.45 Well, while the Bible isn't crystal clear on what would have 00:06:24.48\00:06:26.92 happened to the devil if Adam and Eve didn't sin, we do know 00:06:26.95\00:06:30.29 that if Adam and Eve didn't sin--it says in Genesis 3, 00:06:30.32\00:06:32.69 verse 22 that because they sinned they were--had to exit 00:06:32.72\00:06:36.32 the Garden and they could no longer have access 00:06:36.36\00:06:39.69 to the Tree of Life; Right? 00:06:39.73\00:06:41.93 But at the end of the book of the Bible we have Revelation 00:06:41.96\00:06:44.30 and at the end it says all those who do His commandments 00:06:44.33\00:06:47.44 that are washed white in His robes get to have access again 00:06:47.47\00:06:51.97 to the Tree of Life; Right? 00:06:52.01\00:06:53.38 So we can guess and speculate about what would have happened 00:06:53.41\00:06:56.44 or could have happened, but we know today what will happen 00:06:56.48\00:06:59.01 to those who are faithful to Jesus and accept His sacrifice, 00:06:59.05\00:07:03.62 that we will get access again to the Tree of Life 00:07:03.65\00:07:05.79 at the Second Coming. 00:07:05.82\00:07:07.49 Jean: Amen. 00:07:07.52\00:07:08.99 So the Bible begins with the story in a garden and 00:07:09.02\00:07:11.89 it ends in a garden both containing the Tree of Life. 00:07:11.93\00:07:15.26 Who's our next caller? 00:07:15.30\00:07:16.73 Aron: All right, our next caller 00:07:16.77\00:07:18.23 is John calling in from Nebraska, hello, John. 00:07:18.27\00:07:21.87 Welcome to the program. 00:07:21.90\00:07:23.30 What's your Bible question? 00:07:23.34\00:07:24.87 John: Good evening, gentlemen. 00:07:24.91\00:07:26.54 Thanks for taking my call. 00:07:26.57\00:07:28.74 My question is on the seven last plagues. 00:07:28.78\00:07:32.65 And I told the girl chapter 17, 00:07:32.68\00:07:34.55 but it's chapter 16 of Revelation. 00:07:34.58\00:07:37.82 And my question is, are the seven last plagues going 00:07:37.85\00:07:41.92 to be in order as they are listed in the Bible here? 00:07:41.96\00:07:45.06 I have the King James Version. 00:07:45.09\00:07:47.03 Jean: Yeah, we believe that they will be listed 00:07:47.03\00:07:48.83 in order as given. 00:07:48.86\00:07:50.87 Now, they probably will be overlap and all of the plagues 00:07:50.90\00:07:53.47 will not take place universally immediately. 00:07:53.50\00:07:56.30 I mean, if you look at them, the first one is a terrible sore 00:07:56.34\00:07:58.54 that comes upon those who have the mark of the beast. 00:07:58.57\00:08:00.81 That will probably begin 00:08:00.84\00:08:02.51 in different places around the world. 00:08:02.54\00:08:03.88 And then the second plague is the sea turns to blood. 00:08:03.91\00:08:06.88 This couldn't happen universal immediately. 00:08:06.92\00:08:10.45 Otherwise, you know, you'd have people running out of water very 00:08:10.49\00:08:13.62 quickly because the third plague says water turns to blood. 00:08:13.66\00:08:16.52 So it begins in one place and then sort of spreads around 00:08:16.56\00:08:19.39 the globe, the terrible sores of breaking out 00:08:19.43\00:08:21.96 on the different people. 00:08:22.00\00:08:23.53 And then the fourth plague talks about an intense heat. 00:08:23.57\00:08:25.63 So yes, we believe that these plagues are sequential 00:08:25.67\00:08:29.14 as given here in Scripture. 00:08:29.17\00:08:30.64 The final plague brings you right up to the Second Coming of 00:08:30.67\00:08:33.17 Christ and judgment that comes upon those that have 00:08:33.21\00:08:35.44 the Mark of the Beast, those who have warred against God 00:08:35.48\00:08:38.48 and against these people. 00:08:38.51\00:08:39.85 Now, there is something interesting to add to this. 00:08:39.88\00:08:41.85 At the end of time, there's going to be--everyone's going to 00:08:41.88\00:08:43.92 be divided up into two groups. 00:08:43.95\00:08:45.89 Those who have the Mark of the Beast, according to Revelation 00:08:45.92\00:08:48.72 13 they're the ones who suffer under the plague. 00:08:48.76\00:08:52.33 Then you have those who have the seal of God in Revelation 17. 00:08:52.36\00:08:55.26 They're the ones who're protected. 00:08:55.30\00:08:58.20 God protects them during this terrible time. 00:08:58.23\00:09:00.30 So for the believer we need not fear for if we are trusting in 00:09:00.34\00:09:03.74 Jesus we'll be sealed and we'll be protected when these seven 00:09:03.77\00:09:07.74 last plagues get poured out. 00:09:07.78\00:09:09.61 Some theologians feel that it could probably take place within 00:09:09.64\00:09:12.68 the period of about a year because the Bible says a plague 00:09:12.71\00:09:15.52 shall come in one day. 00:09:15.55\00:09:16.95 One prophetic day is equal to one literal year. 00:09:16.99\00:09:19.25 So just a lot of interesting things. 00:09:19.29\00:09:20.89 You know, we do have a study guide that talks about 00:09:20.92\00:09:23.99 the Second Coming of Christ and the 1000 years known 00:09:24.03\00:09:26.53 as the millennium that happens right after Jesus comes, 00:09:26.56\00:09:29.03 and it's called "1000 Years of Peace." 00:09:29.06\00:09:31.43 And we'll be happy to send that to anyone who wants to learn 00:09:31.47\00:09:33.44 more about what the Bible says about the Second Coming 00:09:33.47\00:09:35.87 of Christ and what happens right after Jesus comes. 00:09:35.90\00:09:38.34 Just call and ask. 00:09:38.37\00:09:39.94 The number is 800-835-6747 and ask for the study guide. 00:09:39.97\00:09:44.11 It's called "1000 Years of Peace." 00:09:44.15\00:09:46.45 Thank you for your call, John. Who do we have next? 00:09:46.48\00:09:49.25 Aron: All right, next we have Gary 00:09:49.28\00:09:50.82 calling in from Illinois, Gary, hi. 00:09:50.85\00:09:53.69 Welcome to the program. 00:09:53.72\00:09:55.19 What's your Bible question for us? 00:09:55.22\00:09:57.06 Gary: Thank you. 00:09:57.09\00:09:58.69 In Revelation Jesus critiques seven churches. 00:09:58.73\00:10:01.76 Only the church of Smyrna and Philadelphia 00:10:01.80\00:10:04.50 he doesn't criticize. 00:10:04.53\00:10:06.20 Are there any churches in the present day 00:10:06.23\00:10:08.27 that are representative of these two churches? 00:10:08.30\00:10:11.14 Jean: Okay. Well, good question. 00:10:11.17\00:10:13.44 Well, of course the seven churches you find in Revelation 00:10:13.48\00:10:15.58 chapter 2 and 3 in a prophetic sense represents seven phases 00:10:15.61\00:10:19.38 of the Christian church. 00:10:19.41\00:10:21.68 Beating with the church of Ephesus and then you have the 00:10:21.72\00:10:24.12 church of Smyrna and it goes all the way down to the church of 00:10:24.15\00:10:26.02 Laodicea, which is really a description of the church today. 00:10:26.05\00:10:30.46 It's in a spiritual lukewarm condition and there is a call 00:10:30.49\00:10:34.03 for revival, a special Laodicean message you might say. 00:10:34.10\00:10:37.60 But in addition to these broad categories of seven phases of 00:10:37.63\00:10:41.24 the Christian church, it is true that different churches 00:10:41.27\00:10:44.01 might exhibit different characteristics. 00:10:44.04\00:10:46.71 In other words, you can have a church in a particular area that 00:10:46.74\00:10:49.44 is suffering severe persecution and they might be 00:10:49.48\00:10:51.95 very similar as described to the church of Smyrna, 00:10:51.98\00:10:54.42 a church during a time of terrible persecution. 00:10:54.45\00:10:56.55 Jesus didn't give any word of rebuke. 00:10:56.58\00:10:58.95 He just encouraged them to be faithful. 00:10:58.99\00:11:01.22 The church of Philadelphia was also a church that went through 00:11:01.26\00:11:04.19 some persecution, but they really wanted to find the truth. 00:11:04.23\00:11:08.26 They were committed to the truth and proclaiming the soon 00:11:08.30\00:11:11.77 coming of Jesus, and there's no word of rebuke given 00:11:11.80\00:11:14.74 to the church of Philadelphia. 00:11:14.77\00:11:16.17 So yes, they refer to seven time periods of Christian history, 00:11:16.20\00:11:19.37 but different churches can fall 00:11:19.41\00:11:21.01 into these different categories as well. 00:11:21.04\00:11:22.51 Aron: Yeah, and over beyond that, 00:11:22.54\00:11:24.85 which is a great answer, we have over and 00:11:24.88\00:11:27.65 over in each one of the churches it says this phrase: "He who has 00:11:27.68\00:11:31.32 an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches." 00:11:31.35\00:11:35.02 Right? 00:11:35.06\00:11:37.03 So just like you're saying, any church where--I would go 00:11:37.06\00:11:39.66 a step further and say any individual; Right? 00:11:39.69\00:11:41.56 If you have ears to hear, to read what the message of Jesus 00:11:41.60\00:11:44.80 is to these churches, if these messages apply to you, well then 00:11:44.83\00:11:47.94 we need to take it to heart and listen to what the Spirit is 00:11:47.97\00:11:50.64 trying to tell us through these ancient messages that become 00:11:50.67\00:11:53.68 ever so relevant through the Holy Spirit today. 00:11:53.71\00:11:56.08 Jean: All right. Very good. 00:11:56.11\00:11:57.65 Well, thank you for your call, Gary. 00:11:57.68\00:11:59.01 Who do we have next? 00:11:59.05\00:12:00.48 Aron: All right, next we have someone 00:12:00.52\00:12:01.85 who has got a great name, I think. 00:12:01.88\00:12:03.92 Aaron calling in from New York. Hello, Aaron. 00:12:03.95\00:12:06.79 How are you doing? Aaron: I'm doing fine, Aron. 00:12:06.82\00:12:09.46 Aron: Yeah. Nice to hear you. 00:12:09.49\00:12:11.43 What question do you have for us this evening? 00:12:11.46\00:12:13.03 Aaron: Several times when I listen to SDA preachers and 00:12:13.06\00:12:16.67 teachers as they talk about the articles of furniture in 00:12:16.70\00:12:20.77 the sanctuary, I hear them say that the altar of sacrifice 00:12:20.80\00:12:25.14 is before the laver. 00:12:25.17\00:12:27.34 But recently I heard that they say that the priests cleanses 00:12:27.38\00:12:31.55 themselves at the laver before they do their work 00:12:31.58\00:12:33.98 at the altar of sacrifice. 00:12:34.02\00:12:36.38 My question is, which one of those pieces of furniture 00:12:36.42\00:12:39.42 is actually first? 00:12:39.45\00:12:41.19 Jean: Okay, good question. 00:12:41.22\00:12:43.16 Well, first of all, just from a geographical layout in 00:12:43.19\00:12:45.69 the sanctuary just for those who might not be familiar with it, 00:12:45.73\00:12:48.26 the Old Testament sanctuary or the tabernacle 00:12:48.30\00:12:50.60 is divided up into three parts. 00:12:50.63\00:12:52.27 You have what's called the courtyard, and then you have 00:12:52.30\00:12:54.54 the first compartment called the holy place, 00:12:54.57\00:12:56.77 and then half the size of the first compartment is the second 00:12:56.81\00:13:00.41 compartment known as the most holy or the Holy of Holies. 00:13:00.44\00:13:03.28 So three divisions of the sanctuary. 00:13:03.31\00:13:05.81 And all of this served as the shadow and a type of 00:13:05.85\00:13:08.92 the ministry and the plan of redemption, Christ's ministry 00:13:08.95\00:13:11.69 and the plan of redemption. 00:13:11.72\00:13:13.02 So in the courtyard you have the sacrifice. 00:13:13.05\00:13:15.59 That's the altar of burnt sacrifice, 00:13:15.62\00:13:17.49 and then you have a basin filled with water. 00:13:17.53\00:13:20.76 And it's true. 00:13:20.80\00:13:22.06 The priest would have to wash prior to him doing the service, 00:13:22.10\00:13:24.33 but before he actually entered into the sanctuary to sprinkle 00:13:24.37\00:13:28.04 the blood from the sacrifice on the altar of incense he would 00:13:28.07\00:13:31.74 also have to wash his hands and his feet. 00:13:31.77\00:13:33.81 So there was a cleansing both at the beginning of the service but 00:13:33.84\00:13:37.18 also prior to him entering into the holy place. 00:13:37.21\00:13:41.12 There was also a work of cleansing. 00:13:41.15\00:13:42.98 Now, all of these different articles of furniture has 00:13:43.02\00:13:45.12 spiritual significance. 00:13:45.15\00:13:46.62 Of course, the altar of burnt sacrifice symbolizes Calvary. 00:13:46.65\00:13:49.16 It's the death of Jesus. 00:13:49.19\00:13:50.83 He is the lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world. 00:13:50.86\00:13:53.13 The laver symbolizes baptism. 00:13:53.16\00:13:55.20 It is a washing, a renewal. 00:13:55.23\00:13:57.17 It is also a symbol of the death, burial, and resurrection 00:13:57.20\00:13:59.80 of Jesus because just as a person is baptized, they go 00:13:59.83\00:14:02.94 under the water and then they come up out of the water, Christ 00:14:02.97\00:14:05.64 is baptized, an example for believers; but it is a symbol of 00:14:05.67\00:14:08.71 death, burial, and resurrection. 00:14:08.74\00:14:10.75 I mean, Jesus rose from the dead, thenHe ascended into 00:14:10.78\00:14:13.45 the heavenly sanctuary there to minister as our high priest. 00:14:13.48\00:14:16.69 So the courtyard in the earthly tabernacle represents the earth 00:14:16.72\00:14:20.69 and the work that Jesus does here on the earth. 00:14:20.72\00:14:22.79 The holy place work represents the work that Jesus does or did 00:14:22.82\00:14:26.66 when He arose and ascended to heaven. 00:14:26.70\00:14:28.53 He is our mediator. 00:14:28.56\00:14:29.93 He is ministering on our behalf in heaven. 00:14:29.96\00:14:31.60 But the final phase of this work as our high priest occurs in the 00:14:31.63\00:14:36.54 most holy place, and sometimes it's described 00:14:36.57\00:14:38.84 as a time of judgment. 00:14:38.87\00:14:40.71 You're reading Daniel chapter 7 about a judgment that's set in 00:14:40.74\00:14:43.58 heaven and the ancient of days is there and the books are open 00:14:43.61\00:14:45.88 and Jesus comes in before the ancient of days of the Father 00:14:45.91\00:14:49.02 and there is a pre-advent or pre-Second Coming judgment 00:14:49.05\00:14:52.99 that takes place, and that's what symbolized 00:14:53.02\00:14:57.39 in that most holy place of the sanctuary. 00:14:57.43\00:14:59.56 So the earthly was a shadow of the heavenly and a demonstrated 00:14:59.59\00:15:02.23 God's plan of redemption. 00:15:02.26\00:15:03.80 Aron: All right. Thanks for your question, Aaron. 00:15:03.83\00:15:07.24 Moving on to our next caller, we have Glenn calling in from Ohio. 00:15:07.27\00:15:10.91 Welcome, Glenn, to the program. 00:15:10.94\00:15:14.18 Glenn: Thank you for taking my call. 00:15:14.21\00:15:16.71 I appreciate it, and good evening to you. 00:15:16.75\00:15:18.61 Aron: Good evening. 00:15:18.65\00:15:20.38 Glenn: When the apostle Paul came on the scene, he was going 00:15:20.42\00:15:23.82 about arresting people that were worshiping a false messiah until 00:15:23.85\00:15:29.26 lo and behold he discovered on the road to Damascus that 00:15:29.29\00:15:32.89 that false messiah was the true Messiah 00:15:32.93\00:15:36.23 and he started his missionary journey. 00:15:36.26\00:15:39.37 In the letter J was not in the English language 00:15:39.40\00:15:42.17 until the 17th century. 00:15:42.20\00:15:44.44 There was no such name as Jesus back when Paul did his thing. 00:15:44.47\00:15:48.08 What name did he preach under? 00:15:48.11\00:15:51.18 And if the answer is Yeshua, I would like to know who it 00:15:51.21\00:15:55.55 was that changed the name and why. 00:15:55.58\00:15:58.09 Jean: Yes, Jesus is an English adaptation of the Hebrew 00:15:58.12\00:16:02.56 or the Aramaic Yeshua, the Aramaic name. 00:16:02.59\00:16:06.53 Now, the reason we use English or the English pronunciation 00:16:06.56\00:16:08.96 of the name of Jesus is because we speak English. 00:16:09.00\00:16:12.07 If you speak Spanish, you will pronounce 00:16:12.10\00:16:14.07 the name of Jesus differently. 00:16:14.10\00:16:15.84 Or if you speak Hindi, you'll pronounce 00:16:15.87\00:16:18.21 the name of Jesus differently. 00:16:18.24\00:16:19.87 So depending upon what language you are speaking, there is 00:16:19.91\00:16:23.61 a name specifically given for Jesus and it's adapted, I should 00:16:23.65\00:16:27.75 say, from that original Hebrew word with variations. 00:16:27.78\00:16:31.92 Now, it's important for us to understand 00:16:31.95\00:16:34.59 who we're talking about. 00:16:34.62\00:16:35.92 We need to know who Jesus is. 00:16:35.96\00:16:37.29 Of course, Jesus knows all of the languages of the world. 00:16:37.33\00:16:40.76 He knows when a person is sincerely calling out 00:16:40.80\00:16:43.53 to him in prayer. 00:16:43.57\00:16:44.97 Whether they use the name in English or in Hebrew or Aramaic 00:16:45.00\00:16:48.70 or if they use the Spanish name of Jesus, Jesus knows 00:16:48.74\00:16:52.17 that they're referring to him. 00:16:52.21\00:16:54.64 And I think that's the most important. 00:16:54.68\00:16:56.31 Remember Jesus not only has the name Jesus, but he's 00:16:56.34\00:16:59.75 also referred to under different names or titles in the Bible. 00:16:59.78\00:17:03.79 He is referred to as the Word. 00:17:03.82\00:17:05.79 Jesus is referred to as the living bread, as the way, 00:17:05.82\00:17:10.26 the truth, and the life. 00:17:10.29\00:17:12.06 So there's different words that describe aspects of who Jesus 00:17:12.09\00:17:15.56 is, but we use the name Jesus just because it's the English 00:17:15.60\00:17:18.50 version of His name. 00:17:18.53\00:17:20.07 Aron: Yeah, and I mean, when Paul was going around, if he was 00:17:20.10\00:17:22.07 speaking to the Greeks he would say Jesus. 00:17:22.10\00:17:24.97 Right? In the Greek. 00:17:25.01\00:17:26.68 If he was speaking to the Hebrews, he would use--you know, 00:17:26.71\00:17:29.51 he would say that name in Hebrew Yeshua. 00:17:29.54\00:17:31.95 Right? 00:17:31.98\00:17:33.78 And I don't know if he knew any more languages, but I'm sure 00:17:33.82\00:17:36.82 he would try his best to transliterate into other 00:17:36.85\00:17:38.69 different languages. 00:17:38.72\00:17:40.36 Jean: All right, thank you. 00:17:40.39\00:17:41.82 Aron: All right, our next caller is James calling in from 00:17:41.86\00:17:44.06 the great state of Texas. 00:17:44.09\00:17:46.19 James, welcome to the program. 00:17:46.23\00:17:48.36 What's your question? James: Hello, pastors. 00:17:48.40\00:17:51.43 Yes, my question is for Hebrews chapter 11, verse 3. 00:17:51.47\00:17:55.34 Did God create other life on different planets 00:17:55.37\00:17:59.44 other than ours? 00:17:59.47\00:18:01.24 Jean: Okay. Yes. 00:18:01.28\00:18:03.31 Let me read the verse for those who are listening. 00:18:03.35\00:18:04.88 Maybe they're driving in the car. 00:18:04.91\00:18:06.61 Hebrews 11 and 3 says, "By faith we understand that the worlds 00:18:06.65\00:18:09.85 were framed by the word of God, so that the things which 00:18:09.88\00:18:13.12 are seen were not made with things that were visible." 00:18:13.15\00:18:16.09 Your question was, does God have other intelligent beings 00:18:16.12\00:18:19.33 on other worlds? 00:18:19.36\00:18:21.90 James: Yes, because when He speaks of this world 00:18:21.93\00:18:24.30 He says the world, but He's saying the worlds, 00:18:24.33\00:18:27.24 plural, other than--more than one. 00:18:27.27\00:18:29.60 Jean: Yes, now, this is one verse, but there are others that 00:18:29.64\00:18:33.01 have a reference to the idea of other intelligent beings other 00:18:33.04\00:18:36.88 than angels that are out there in the universe. 00:18:36.91\00:18:39.41 We don't know how many worlds there are--I mean, inhabited 00:18:39.45\00:18:42.92 planets but from Scripture we understand that our planet, 00:18:42.95\00:18:46.29 earth, is the only one that fell prey to the devil's deceptions. 00:18:46.32\00:18:49.76 The devil was able to deceive a third of the angels. 00:18:49.79\00:18:51.89 They joined his rebellion. 00:18:51.93\00:18:53.23 Read about that in Revelation 12. 00:18:53.26\00:18:54.73 But isn't reference to anything about the other created beings 00:18:54.76\00:18:57.80 joining Satan's rebellion. 00:18:57.83\00:18:59.83 So it's just a third of the angels that joined him. 00:18:59.87\00:19:01.97 And then of course the inhabitants of earth 00:19:02.00\00:19:03.91 deceived by the devil. 00:19:03.94\00:19:05.84 So they are these unfallen worlds as mentioned here in 00:19:05.87\00:19:09.81 Hebrews and some have wondered that the 24 elders that you read 00:19:09.84\00:19:14.22 about in Revelation chapter 4 and 5 if they might be 00:19:14.25\00:19:16.92 the representatives of groups of unfallen worlds. 00:19:16.95\00:19:20.96 So the Bible isn't getting to the exact specifics, 00:19:20.99\00:19:23.02 but there's hints to that. 00:19:23.06\00:19:24.66 I'm also thinking of the passage in Job where it says at the time 00:19:24.69\00:19:26.86 of the creation it says the stars sang for joy and Job 00:19:26.90\00:19:30.33 speaks about a day when the sons of God came to present 00:19:30.37\00:19:32.97 themselves before Him and the devil came representing earth. 00:19:33.00\00:19:36.34 So from these different passages of Scripture; 00:19:36.37\00:19:38.77 yeah, we believe there are unfallen worlds. 00:19:38.81\00:19:40.78 Aron: Yeah, Paul talks about-- 00:19:40.81\00:19:42.74 that we're a spectacle to men and to angels, 00:19:42.78\00:19:45.25 and in Ephesians he talks about how we manifest--through the 00:19:45.28\00:19:50.05 church the wisdom of God is manifested to the heavens. 00:19:50.09\00:19:52.39 Right? 00:19:52.42\00:19:54.39 So there's these little glimmers, as Jean was sharing, 00:19:54.42\00:19:56.79 that yeah, there seem to be other unfallen worlds that are 00:19:56.83\00:19:59.83 certainly not coming in and, you know, sneaking and visiting us 00:19:59.86\00:20:03.03 physically, but they're looking on to see the grace of God 00:20:03.06\00:20:06.57 working in the life of those who are following Jesus. 00:20:06.60\00:20:09.64 Jean: That's right. 00:20:09.67\00:20:11.31 It seems that our world is quarantined because of Satan. 00:20:11.34\00:20:13.51 The only ones that have access to the world is the angels and 00:20:13.54\00:20:15.91 then of course God himself. 00:20:15.94\00:20:18.11 The unfallen worlds, they can witness what's happening but 00:20:18.15\00:20:21.25 they don't interact with us. 00:20:21.28\00:20:22.75 Good question. Thank you, James. 00:20:22.78\00:20:24.72 Aron: All right, our next caller is calling in from New Jersey, 00:20:24.75\00:20:27.46 and it's Peter, hello. 00:20:27.49\00:20:29.82 Peter: The question is based on Genesis 1, 00:20:29.86\00:20:33.29 I think it's verse 9. 00:20:33.33\00:20:35.70 Is it more ideal to have a vegetarian food diet 00:20:35.73\00:20:38.83 than a meat-based diet? 00:20:38.87\00:20:40.64 I went to a vegetarian diet. 00:20:40.67\00:20:43.04 I feel much better health-wise, and I wanted to ask you if you 00:20:43.07\00:20:48.38 guys are vegetarians would you share some foods that you 00:20:48.41\00:20:51.18 guys--that we could eat, you know, maybe like French toast 00:20:51.21\00:20:53.92 or pizza bagels or bagging cheese omelets. 00:20:53.95\00:20:57.05 Maybe you can share your wisdom on it. 00:20:57.09\00:20:58.69 Thank you. 00:20:58.72\00:21:00.29 Jean: Yeah, without getting too specific about, you know, 00:21:00.32\00:21:01.86 different recipes, but I think from a biblical perspective it's 00:21:01.89\00:21:05.36 pretty clear that the original diet that God gave in the 00:21:05.39\00:21:08.26 beginning was fruits and nuts and vegetables--or grains, 00:21:08.30\00:21:13.10 fruits and grains and nuts and vegetables were added 00:21:13.13\00:21:15.64 after the fall, but that is the ideal diet. 00:21:15.67\00:21:18.27 You know, the medical world will tell you that with 00:21:18.31\00:21:20.91 the vegetarian diet your body functions the best. 00:21:20.94\00:21:23.68 It's built for that. 00:21:23.71\00:21:25.98 And you can also just see in the world of athletics a number of 00:21:26.01\00:21:31.02 endurance sports, runners, and swimmers, and cyclists, 00:21:31.05\00:21:34.66 many of them are going, believe it or not, 00:21:34.69\00:21:36.62 to a vegetarian diet because-- 00:21:36.66\00:21:38.93 Aron: Some even vegan. Jean: Even vegan, yeah. 00:21:38.96\00:21:40.30 Finding that that actually provides more energy and 00:21:40.33\00:21:43.53 it's more sustained energy by eating a plant-based diet. 00:21:43.57\00:21:46.80 So yes, it's there in the Bible. 00:21:46.84\00:21:48.64 I'm a big advocate of eating a plant-based vegetarian diet. 00:21:48.67\00:21:52.71 I am a vegetarian myself. 00:21:52.74\00:21:54.68 I'm born and raised a vegetarian actually. 00:21:54.71\00:21:56.54 Never really eat meat. 00:21:56.58\00:21:58.21 I know you, Aron, are probably a vegetarian, too. 00:21:58.25\00:22:00.42 Aron: Yeah, I'm vegetarian as well, raised as one and--yeah, 00:22:00.45\00:22:03.28 you mentioned a few vegetarian foods of which were pizza, 00:22:03.32\00:22:07.46 bagels, and such. 00:22:07.49\00:22:09.29 Well, those are vegetarian. 00:22:09.32\00:22:11.33 It's also important to have an essential part of a vegetarian 00:22:11.36\00:22:14.36 diet, vegetables and fruit. 00:22:14.40\00:22:17.07 I know growing up as a vegetarian and, you know, being 00:22:17.10\00:22:20.00 in a community where I have many vegetarian friends it's quite 00:22:20.04\00:22:23.07 amazing how vegetarians like to eat anything 00:22:23.10\00:22:26.44 but vegetables sometimes; Right? 00:22:26.47\00:22:28.44 So we need to be balanced, you know, holistic in our diet, 00:22:28.48\00:22:31.68 getting the grains and the fruits and the vegetables 00:22:31.71\00:22:33.72 to be properly filled with nutrition. 00:22:33.75\00:22:37.62 Jean: And a matter of fact try it. 00:22:37.65\00:22:40.02 You're wondering, "Well, what is vegetarian diet good for me?" 00:22:40.06\00:22:42.56 Well, we know it is. 00:22:42.59\00:22:44.29 And if you're wondering, try it. Test it and see. 00:22:44.33\00:22:47.30 Just go for a--set aside 3 weeks and say, "I'm not going to eat 00:22:47.36\00:22:49.70 any flesh foods for 3 weeks, I'm going to increase my salad 00:22:49.73\00:22:53.17 content, and I'm going to eat more vegetables and beans 00:22:53.20\00:22:55.97 and plant-based foods." 00:22:56.00\00:22:57.84 And see how you feel. 00:22:57.87\00:22:59.24 Just give yourself a 3-week test. 00:22:59.27\00:23:01.21 And I tell you, you'll feel different, you'll feel better. 00:23:01.24\00:23:04.11 All right. Thank you for your call. 00:23:04.15\00:23:06.01 You know, we do have a study guide--just thought of it. 00:23:06.05\00:23:08.15 It's called "God's Free Health Plan." 00:23:08.18\00:23:09.48 It's one of the Amazing Facts study guides, and it talks about 00:23:09.52\00:23:11.29 the biblical plan for health. 00:23:11.32\00:23:13.32 And we'll be happy to send this to anyone who calls and asks. 00:23:13.36\00:23:15.62 The number is simply 800-835-6747. 00:23:15.66\00:23:19.69 That is our resource phone line. 00:23:19.73\00:23:22.03 Just ask for "God's Free Health Plan" and we'll be happy to send 00:23:22.06\00:23:25.40 it to anyone who calls and asks. 00:23:25.43\00:23:26.77 What do we have next? Aron: All right. 00:23:26.80\00:23:29.04 Next we have Rebecca calling in from Michigan, 00:23:29.07\00:23:30.74 where I used to pastor for about 7 years. 00:23:30.77\00:23:33.04 So, Rebecca, welcome to the program. 00:23:33.07\00:23:34.88 Rebecca: Hello. How are you guys doing? 00:23:34.91\00:23:36.81 Jean: Doing well. Thank you for calling. 00:23:36.85\00:23:39.48 Aron: What's your question for us, Rebecca? 00:23:39.51\00:23:42.68 Rebecca: I have a question in Philippians chapter 4, verse 13. 00:23:42.72\00:23:48.02 I understand the basic concept of what Paul is teaching. 00:23:48.06\00:23:53.86 "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me." 00:23:53.90\00:23:56.43 I need a more broader understanding 00:23:56.46\00:23:58.30 of what he was meaning. 00:23:58.33\00:24:00.34 Jean: Okay, well, first of all, 00:24:00.37\00:24:01.67 I think he means what he says right there. 00:24:01.70\00:24:04.21 If God asks us to do something, even though from our human 00:24:04.24\00:24:07.81 perspective we might think, "Wow, this is impossible." 00:24:07.84\00:24:10.91 From our perspective Paul is reminding us that in Christ, 00:24:10.95\00:24:14.28 through Christ, trusting in Christ all things are possible. 00:24:14.32\00:24:18.49 And that's an important lesson. 00:24:18.52\00:24:20.22 If God asks us to do something, 00:24:20.26\00:24:21.89 He will give you the power to do it. 00:24:21.92\00:24:24.53 I think of the story of Peter. 00:24:24.56\00:24:26.63 The disciples are in the boat and there was a terrible storm 00:24:26.66\00:24:30.27 and they looked out and they saw the form of somebody walking on 00:24:30.30\00:24:33.64 the water and they thought at first it was some sort of 00:24:33.67\00:24:37.04 a ghost, but it was actually Jesus. 00:24:37.07\00:24:38.51 And when they realized that it was Jesus walking on the water, 00:24:38.54\00:24:41.64 Peter said, "Lord, if it is you, call me. 00:24:41.68\00:24:43.85 Bid me to come to you." 00:24:43.88\00:24:45.81 And Jesus said, "Come." 00:24:45.85\00:24:47.58 And Peter got out of the boat and he walked on the water. 00:24:47.62\00:24:51.42 As long as he kept his eyes fixed upon Jesus, 00:24:51.45\00:24:53.42 Peter did that which humanly is impossible to do. 00:24:53.46\00:24:57.13 But then you read further in the story when he took his eyes off 00:24:57.16\00:24:59.76 Jesus; well, what happened? 00:24:59.79\00:25:01.63 He began to sink and he cried out and said, "Lord, save me." 00:25:01.66\00:25:03.93 And I think there's a lesson in that for us. 00:25:03.97\00:25:05.70 If we keep our eyes fixed upon Jesus--when we say keeping our 00:25:05.73\00:25:08.90 eyes fixed upon Jesus, it means keep your thoughts centered 00:25:08.94\00:25:12.17 on Christ and His Word. 00:25:12.21\00:25:14.24 If we are centering our thoughts and our lives on Jesus and 00:25:14.28\00:25:18.85 his teachings, the Holy Spirit enables us to do something 00:25:18.88\00:25:21.48 which we cannot do in and of ourselves. 00:25:21.52\00:25:23.82 You can take the words of Paul and claim them. 00:25:23.85\00:25:26.59 "I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me." 00:25:26.62\00:25:30.09 And of course it's in the context of doing the things 00:25:30.13\00:25:32.66 that God asks us to do. 00:25:32.69\00:25:34.20 This is not a promise for us to say, "Well, you know, 00:25:34.23\00:25:36.83 I'm going to become a millionaire because I can do all 00:25:36.87\00:25:39.10 things through Christ who strength." 00:25:39.13\00:25:40.64 That might not be God's will for your life. 00:25:40.67\00:25:42.44 But if God is asking you to do something, you can trust that 00:25:42.47\00:25:45.84 He's going to give you the strength to do it. 00:25:45.87\00:25:47.41 Aron: Yeah, and in the specific context, 00:25:47.44\00:25:48.94 if you read the two verses before, 00:25:48.98\00:25:51.21 he says, "Whatever state I am in, to be content: I know how to 00:25:51.25\00:25:54.98 be abased, I know how to abound, everywhere and in all things 00:25:55.02\00:25:58.39 I've learned to be full and be hungry 00:25:58.42\00:26:00.79 to abound and to suffer need." 00:26:00.82\00:26:02.46 Right, so that means if you're 00:26:02.49\00:26:03.79 in a condition where you're in a really difficult time 00:26:03.83\00:26:07.60 in your life, right, you can make it through through Christ. 00:26:07.60\00:26:10.50 Right? 00:26:10.53\00:26:12.23 Any situation that you're going through of difficulty in 00:26:12.27\00:26:15.74 particular, Christ can give you strength to get through that. 00:26:15.77\00:26:19.01 Jean: You know, we have a book that I think-- 00:26:19.04\00:26:20.78 we don't always offer it, but it's a great read 00:26:20.81\00:26:22.71 and it's just packed with Scripture. 00:26:22.74\00:26:24.55 It's called "Tips for Resisting Temptation." 00:26:24.58\00:26:26.95 We live in a world of sin. 00:26:26.98\00:26:28.92 We have carnal human natures. 00:26:28.95\00:26:30.69 And if you can be honest with yourself, if you want to live 00:26:30.72\00:26:33.15 the Christian life you're going to find a struggle taking place 00:26:33.19\00:26:36.02 the devil doesn't want to let you go and sin is always 00:26:36.06\00:26:38.86 present, but we can overcome we can resist, we can be victorious 00:26:38.89\00:26:43.57 if we follow the example given to us by Jesus by claiming 00:26:43.60\00:26:46.53 the promises of the Bible and looking to him. 00:26:46.57\00:26:48.94 We'll send that book for free to anyone who calls and asks. 00:26:48.97\00:26:52.54 It's called "Tips for Resisting Temptation." 00:26:52.57\00:26:55.08 I think every Christian needs to read this book if you want to 00:26:55.11\00:26:58.21 know what the Bible keys and promises for victory 00:26:58.25\00:27:04.19 in living the Christian life. 00:27:04.22\00:27:05.52 The number to call for that is 800-835-6747. 00:27:05.55\00:27:09.79 Again, you can ask for the book written by Pastor Doug. 00:27:09.82\00:27:11.96 It's called "Tips for Resisting Temptation." 00:27:11.99\00:27:13.90 We'll be happy to send that to you if you're in North America 00:27:13.93\00:27:16.97 or in Canada. 00:27:17.00\00:27:18.37 Now, if you're outside of North America and you want to read 00:27:18.40\00:27:21.17 the book, just go to our website AmazingFacts.org. 00:27:21.20\00:27:24.74 You can read the book for free. 00:27:24.77\00:27:26.41 It's there online at the free library. 00:27:26.44\00:27:28.24 We just going to take a short break and we'll be back, 00:27:28.28\00:27:30.61 friends, with more Bible questions in just a moment. 00:27:30.65\00:27:33.28 announcer: Stay tuned. 00:27:38.29\00:27:39.59 "Bible Answers Live" will return shortly. 00:27:39.62\00:27:41.82 announcer: Did you know that Noah was present 00:27:46.63\00:27:48.13 at the birth of Abraham? 00:31:26.78\00:31:28.38 Aron: All right, we've got Henry calling in from New York. 00:31:28.42\00:31:29.95 Welcome, Henry. 00:31:29.98\00:31:31.45 Henry: Yes, bless both of you, pastors. 00:31:31.49\00:31:34.19 My question is, is there written anything in the Bible anybody 00:31:34.22\00:31:41.86 who lives--alive today, can they prove that they were ascended 00:31:41.90\00:31:47.67 Solomon or David? 00:31:47.70\00:31:50.11 Jean: Okay, does the Bible say anywhere that somebody 00:31:50.14\00:31:53.61 can trace back their ancestry to David or Solomon? 00:31:53.64\00:31:56.85 Well, not directly. 00:31:56.88\00:31:59.25 However, it's important for us to realize that David and 00:31:59.28\00:32:01.98 Solomon came from the tribe of Judah, and the tribe of Judah 00:32:02.02\00:32:05.29 was one of the tribes that stayed in the vicinity of 00:32:05.32\00:32:08.16 Jerusalem--in the area where Jerusalem is. 00:32:08.19\00:32:10.49 The ten tribes of Israel were conquered--the northern kingdom 00:32:10.53\00:32:14.03 was conquered by the Assyrians. 00:32:14.10\00:32:15.86 They were dispersed amongst the various other nations. 00:32:15.90\00:32:18.50 That's where the Samaritans come from. 00:32:18.53\00:32:20.94 They intermarried with some of the other nations there. 00:32:20.97\00:32:24.07 However, the tribe of Judah and Benjamin, which was a smaller 00:32:24.11\00:32:28.34 tribe, and most of Levi, they stayed in the area 00:32:28.38\00:32:32.11 of the southern kingdom. 00:32:32.15\00:32:33.48 Judah was a very big tribe. 00:32:33.52\00:32:34.95 And when Jerusalem was conquered in 605 BC by Nebuchadnezzar, 00:32:34.98\00:32:38.59 the Jews went into captivity for 7 years. 00:32:38.62\00:32:40.89 But many of them returned back to Jerusalem. 00:32:40.92\00:32:43.22 They rebuilt the temple, and that's where Jew comes from. 00:32:43.26\00:32:47.60 The name Jew comes from the tribe of Judah. 00:32:47.60\00:32:50.23 So there are Jews today that perhaps can trace their ancestry 00:32:50.27\00:32:53.84 to the tribe of Judah. 00:32:53.87\00:32:55.44 Maybe they can even trace it back further. 00:32:55.47\00:32:57.74 The Bible's not clear. 00:32:57.77\00:32:59.44 There's no genealogy specifically, but it does lead 00:32:59.47\00:33:02.01 us down to the time of Christ there were Jews 00:33:02.04\00:33:04.98 from the tribe of Judah at that time. 00:33:05.01\00:33:07.02 Aron: All right. 00:33:07.05\00:33:08.82 Well, hey, thanks so much for calling in, Henry. 00:33:08.85\00:33:10.52 Our next caller is Mark calling in from Oregon. 00:33:10.55\00:33:13.69 Welcome, Mark. What's your question? 00:33:13.72\00:33:16.49 Mark: Good evening. 00:33:16.52\00:33:18.13 If there are no time prophecies in the Bible after 1844, which I 00:33:18.16\00:33:23.47 do believe, how do we reconcile this to someone who says 00:33:23.50\00:33:27.10 the Bible predicts Israel's return as a nation in 1948? 00:33:27.14\00:33:32.11 What's the right answer to give? 00:33:32.14\00:33:34.88 Jean: Yeah, good question. 00:33:34.91\00:33:36.61 When it comes to a specific time prophecy, you are correct. 00:33:36.64\00:33:38.85 The longest time prophecy that we have 00:33:38.88\00:33:40.48 in the Bible is Daniel 8:14. 00:33:40.52\00:33:42.38 Under 2,300 days then the sanctuary shall be cleansed. 00:33:42.42\00:33:45.09 We know from Daniel chapter 9 that the starting point for that 00:33:45.12\00:33:48.42 time prophecy was the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem, 00:33:48.46\00:33:51.36 which went into effect--the first was by Cyrus, but it was 00:33:51.39\00:33:54.86 really the third decree by Artaxerxes which allowed the 00:33:54.93\00:33:57.77 Jews not only to rebuild the temple but really the city and 00:33:57.80\00:34:00.87 create their own form of government. 00:34:00.90\00:34:02.37 That marked the beginning time period of the 2,300 days. 00:34:02.40\00:34:06.74 457 BC was that date. 00:34:06.78\00:34:08.98 You add 2,300 to 457, recognizing there's no year zero 00:34:09.01\00:34:13.48 when you go from BC to AD, you end on the date 1844. 00:34:13.52\00:34:17.89 We know that to be the longest time prophecy. 00:34:17.92\00:34:20.56 However, there are still other prophecies that we have in 00:34:20.59\00:34:23.09 Scripture that might not have a specific date attached to it. 00:34:23.12\00:34:25.93 I don't believe that 1948, even though that might be very well 00:34:25.96\00:34:30.47 the date when Israel--the modern nation of Israel was formed as 00:34:30.50\00:34:34.57 a government, that specific date is not referenced in Scripture. 00:34:34.60\00:34:39.01 There are other historical incidents that occur that might 00:34:39.04\00:34:42.78 not have a specific date connected with it. 00:34:42.81\00:34:44.78 Certain events that even take place in the future that don't 00:34:44.81\00:34:47.55 have a specific date. 00:34:47.58\00:34:49.05 I'm thinking for one that would be the close of human probation 00:34:49.08\00:34:51.45 before the seven last plagues are poured out, the enforcement 00:34:51.49\00:34:54.56 of the mark of the beast. 00:34:54.59\00:34:55.96 These are things that are going to happen in the future, 00:34:55.99\00:34:57.89 but there's no specific date that you can point to. 00:34:57.93\00:34:59.46 The last date based on prophecy, 1844. 00:34:59.49\00:35:02.73 Aron: Yeah, the--after the time of Jesus and once the Jewish 00:35:02.76\00:35:06.57 nation corporately as a group of people rejected Jesus 00:35:06.60\00:35:11.01 as their Messiah, the Israel that we find in Bible prophecy 00:35:11.04\00:35:15.04 really refers to all of God's faithful people. 00:35:15.08\00:35:17.25 Right? 00:35:17.28\00:35:18.71 Whether--whatever your ethnic heritage may be, 00:35:18.75\00:35:20.65 the true Israel of God are those who follow Jesus. 00:35:20.68\00:35:23.95 And just a verse for that real quick is Galatians 3, verse 29. 00:35:23.99\00:35:27.06 It says, "If you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed and 00:35:27.09\00:35:31.06 heirs according to the promise." 00:35:31.09\00:35:33.13 So whatever happened in 1948 where Israel as an ethnic people 00:35:33.16\00:35:36.43 group, as a political nation got restored back to that land 00:35:36.46\00:35:40.37 there, that's a nice thing to happen for them as a nation. 00:35:40.40\00:35:43.84 However, that doesn't seem to be any kind of a fulfillment 00:35:43.87\00:35:46.98 in Bible prophecy. 00:35:47.01\00:35:48.54 Jean: Especially in the time period 00:35:48.58\00:35:50.65 as we see there in Scripture. 00:35:50.68\00:35:52.48 All right, thank you. Thanks for your call, Mark. 00:35:52.51\00:35:55.28 Aron: All right, our next caller is Cindy 00:35:55.32\00:35:56.79 calling in from California. 00:35:56.82\00:35:58.49 Welcome to the show, Cindy. 00:35:58.52\00:36:00.42 Cindy: Thank you. 00:36:00.46\00:36:01.79 Good evening, Pastor Ross and Pastor Crews. 00:36:01.82\00:36:04.23 Thank you for taking my call tonight. 00:36:04.26\00:36:06.76 I was wondering, could you explain God hardening Pharaoh's 00:36:06.80\00:36:10.97 heart between each plague before the exodus? 00:36:11.00\00:36:14.34 Jean: Okay, good question. 00:36:14.37\00:36:16.10 Before I answer this, Aron, maybe you can look up the verse 00:36:16.14\00:36:18.81 where it says Pharaoh hardened his own heart as well. 00:36:18.84\00:36:20.88 So the verse speaks about God hardening Pharaoh's heart, but 00:36:20.91\00:36:24.65 then there's also a verse that talks about Pharaoh 00:36:24.68\00:36:27.12 hardening his heart. 00:36:27.15\00:36:28.68 So there's a part that God played in the hardening of 00:36:28.72\00:36:31.15 Pharaoh's heart, and that was bringing the plagues upon Egypt. 00:36:31.19\00:36:34.26 How Pharaoh responded to the plagues 00:36:34.29\00:36:36.96 was his own personal choice. 00:36:36.99\00:36:39.19 So in one sense God hardened Pharaoh's heart by bringing him 00:36:39.23\00:36:43.26 to a point of testing, and how he responded to the testing, 00:36:43.30\00:36:47.00 well, that was up to Pharaoh. 00:36:47.04\00:36:48.90 Somebody's once explained it this way. 00:36:48.94\00:36:51.07 They think of the sun and the sun shines with the same heat, 00:36:51.11\00:36:54.98 and if you have wax and you have clay the sun--the heat of 00:36:55.01\00:37:00.25 the sun will harden the clay but it will melt the wax. 00:37:00.28\00:37:03.62 It's the same sun. 00:37:03.65\00:37:05.69 And so likewise, as the plagues fell upon Egypt there was those 00:37:05.72\00:37:09.62 whose hearts was melted. 00:37:09.66\00:37:12.06 They recognized that they were sinners. 00:37:12.09\00:37:14.73 But there were those who hardened their heart like 00:37:14.73\00:37:17.23 Pharaoh and most of the Egyptians. 00:37:17.27\00:37:18.90 However, there were some Egyptians that actually came up 00:37:18.93\00:37:20.77 out of Egypt with the Israelites. 00:37:20.80\00:37:23.34 So there were some that their hearts were humbled 00:37:23.37\00:37:26.98 through that experience. 00:37:27.01\00:37:28.81 Aron: Yeah, the sun can shine upon wax and it melts, 00:37:28.84\00:37:31.71 and the sun shines upon clay and it hardens. 00:37:31.75\00:37:34.28 Right? 00:37:34.32\00:37:36.58 In Exodus 8, verse 15, this is the first time it references 00:37:36.62\00:37:39.35 Pharaoh's heart being hardened and it says that when Pharaoh 00:37:39.39\00:37:43.46 saw that there was relief he, that is Pharaoh, hardened 00:37:43.49\00:37:47.40 his heart and did not heed them as the Lord had said. 00:37:47.46\00:37:51.30 Before it ever says that the Lord hardened Pharaoh's heart, 00:37:51.33\00:37:54.84 it actually says multiple times that Pharaoh 00:37:54.87\00:37:57.54 hardened his own heart; Right? 00:37:57.57\00:38:00.28 Jean: In response to those plagues. 00:38:00.31\00:38:01.61 You know, sometimes in the Bible you--God is recognized 00:38:01.64\00:38:06.18 as the one doing something even though He might bring a person 00:38:06.21\00:38:09.92 to a point of decision. 00:38:09.95\00:38:11.62 The ultimate decision is up to the person, but God will bring 00:38:11.65\00:38:14.72 them to that situation, and that's what is happening here 00:38:14.76\00:38:16.99 with Pharaoh. 00:38:17.03\00:38:18.39 Aron: Yeah, that's right. Great question, Cindy. 00:38:18.43\00:38:20.16 Thanks for calling. 00:38:20.20\00:38:21.53 Our next caller is Howard calling in from Oklahoma. 00:38:21.56\00:38:25.20 Welcome, Howard, to the show. 00:38:25.23\00:38:27.34 Howard: Thank you. 00:38:27.37\00:38:29.10 I was pondering Revelation 12, verse 7 where it says 00:38:29.14\00:38:33.84 there was war in heaven. 00:38:33.88\00:38:35.44 Michael and his angels fought the dragon 00:38:35.48\00:38:37.11 and the dragon fought. 00:38:37.15\00:38:38.61 Was that like a little war where angels are killing each other 00:38:38.65\00:38:41.92 and everything or is that more of a war on words 00:38:41.95\00:38:44.25 and ideals or whatever? 00:38:44.29\00:38:47.06 Kind of like the Republicans and Democrats are battling it out 00:38:47.09\00:38:50.86 to--you know, can you shed a light on that because-- 00:38:50.89\00:38:54.30 Jean: Sure. Absolutely 00:38:54.30\00:38:55.63 Howard: I see later on in Job, you know, after this--after 00:38:55.66\00:38:58.10 you just get out of heaven Satan just pops in there like, Hey, 00:38:58.13\00:39:01.70 fellas, you know, I just come from earth," you know, whatever. 00:39:01.74\00:39:04.41 Jean: Yeah. All right. 00:39:04.44\00:39:05.94 Well, first of all, there's definitely a battle of ideas and 00:39:05.97\00:39:08.51 the devil's making accusations against God. 00:39:08.54\00:39:11.98 For one, he's saying that God isn't really fair. 00:39:12.01\00:39:15.42 We don't need His law. 00:39:15.45\00:39:17.19 Maybe even said that God is not a God of love because He expects 00:39:17.22\00:39:21.32 us to be obedient to His commandments. 00:39:21.36\00:39:23.06 So there was a clash of ideas, a clash of thoughts. 00:39:23.09\00:39:26.73 There was open discussion without a doubt because a third 00:39:26.76\00:39:30.90 of the angels joined Satan in his rebellion. 00:39:30.93\00:39:33.07 So there was a lot of talking taking place. 00:39:33.10\00:39:35.67 But at some point when this rebellion really broke out, 00:39:35.70\00:39:38.51 speaking of Lucifer in the Old Testament it says that he wanted 00:39:38.54\00:39:41.94 to take God's throne. 00:39:41.98\00:39:43.81 So that was his final goal. 00:39:43.85\00:39:45.78 He wanted to be like the most high, and I think at some point 00:39:45.81\00:39:48.98 the devil and his angels were driven outside of heaven. 00:39:49.02\00:39:52.59 I don't think they left willingly. 00:39:52.62\00:39:54.26 They were actually pushed out. 00:39:54.29\00:39:56.16 I don't think any of the angels lost their lives. 00:39:56.19\00:39:58.06 We don't know what type of battle was involved. 00:39:58.09\00:40:00.36 I'm sure they didn't use weapons of some kind, but they were 00:40:00.40\00:40:03.50 physically removed from heaven and then they kind of went 00:40:03.53\00:40:07.30 through the universe looking for another place 00:40:07.34\00:40:09.14 that they could call home. 00:40:09.17\00:40:10.64 And right around that same time the earth is being created 00:40:10.67\00:40:13.84 and the devil says, "Here's my chance. 00:40:13.88\00:40:15.34 Let me try and tempt Adam and Eve." 00:40:15.38\00:40:16.98 So that is the battle that you read about 00:40:17.01\00:40:18.75 in Revelation chapter 12. 00:40:18.78\00:40:20.18 Aron: Yeah, and how we can know that it's really more so 00:40:20.22\00:40:22.65 a battle like you were kind of mentioning over sort of like the 00:40:22.68\00:40:25.32 Republicans and the Democrats and idea over--a battle over 00:40:25.35\00:40:28.26 ideas and how to run the universe is the name-- 00:40:28.29\00:40:31.43 the titles given to the dragon. 00:40:31.46\00:40:33.19 It says in Revelation 12 that--in verse 9 that the great 00:40:33.23\00:40:37.23 dragon is called the devil and Satan 00:40:37.27\00:40:39.93 who deceives the whole world. 00:40:39.97\00:40:41.60 Right? 00:40:41.64\00:40:43.47 And so here the word devil actually means one who slanders. 00:40:43.51\00:40:46.68 Right? 00:40:46.71\00:40:48.58 So in the very name of Satan devil is slander. 00:40:48.61\00:40:50.98 That's gossip. Right? 00:40:51.01\00:40:52.65 And then it echoes back to the serpent of old. 00:40:52.68\00:40:54.88 That's Genesis 3, and in Genesis 3 we don't see Satan, you know, 00:40:54.92\00:40:58.12 suffocating wrapping his tail around Eve but 00:40:58.15\00:41:00.32 rather he's selling her on a new version of God. 00:41:00.36\00:41:05.93 "God is lying to you. 00:41:05.96\00:41:07.40 You can't trust Him." Right? 00:41:07.46\00:41:09.06 So he's attacking the very character of God 00:41:09.10\00:41:11.53 and making us believe that we shouldn't obey His commands. 00:41:11.57\00:41:14.57 Jean: Clash of ideas. 00:41:14.60\00:41:16.47 Although, you know, there was--the Bible says 00:41:16.50\00:41:18.57 he was cast to the earth. 00:41:18.61\00:41:20.24 So there was something involved there. 00:41:20.28\00:41:22.01 You know, we do have a study guide. 00:41:22.04\00:41:23.35 It's called "Did God Create a Devil?" 00:41:23.38\00:41:24.75 And we're happy to send this to anyone who calls and asks. 00:41:24.78\00:41:27.32 You might be wondering, if God is a God of love, why did He 00:41:27.35\00:41:29.62 allow the devil to be in existence? 00:41:29.65\00:41:32.05 Well, call and ask. 00:41:32.09\00:41:33.79 The number is 800-835-6747. 00:41:33.82\00:41:36.59 Ask for the study guide. 00:41:36.62\00:41:38.16 It's called "Did God Create a Devil?" 00:41:38.19\00:41:39.83 And we'll be happy to send it to you here in the US or in Canada. 00:41:39.86\00:41:42.10 If you're outside of North America, just go to our website. 00:41:42.13\00:41:44.57 Just AmazingFacts.org. 00:41:44.60\00:41:46.33 Who do we have next? 00:41:46.37\00:41:47.80 Aron: All right, next we have Robert 00:41:47.84\00:41:49.40 calling in from California. 00:41:49.44\00:41:51.37 Hi there, Robert. How are you doing? 00:41:51.41\00:41:52.91 Robert: Oh, great. How are you? 00:41:52.94\00:41:55.08 Thank you. Aron: Great. 00:41:55.11\00:41:57.45 Robert: My question is about the 144,000 in Revelation. 00:41:57.48\00:42:02.08 I just want kind of clarification. 00:42:02.12\00:42:04.79 At the very, very, very end, they are basically the purists 00:42:04.82\00:42:09.32 of the pure that have survived everything and-- 00:42:09.36\00:42:12.39 as I understand it. 00:42:12.43\00:42:14.73 At the very end when Jesus comes, will there be people 00:42:14.73\00:42:18.53 saved or alive other than the 144,000 that will go to heaven? 00:42:18.57\00:42:24.97 Jean: Okay, good question. 00:42:25.01\00:42:26.84 Well, let me just give for those who are listening a little bit 00:42:26.88\00:42:29.44 of background of the 144,000. 00:42:29.48\00:42:31.05 You read this in Revelation chapter 7, and leading up to 00:42:31.08\00:42:34.32 that the last verse of Revelation chapter 6 describes 00:42:34.35\00:42:37.35 the Second Coming of Christ and it ends with the question. 00:42:37.39\00:42:40.09 It says, "The great day of His wrath has come, 00:42:40.12\00:42:42.89 and who shall be able to stand?" 00:42:42.92\00:42:45.46 So the question is asked, who's going to be able to stand 00:42:45.49\00:42:47.93 when Jesus comes? 00:42:47.96\00:42:49.23 And then Revelation chapter 7 describes a group of people who 00:42:49.26\00:42:52.23 have the seal of God in their foreheads, and we understand 00:42:52.27\00:42:55.90 that the seal of God has to do with the anointing 00:42:55.94\00:42:58.37 of the Holy Spirit. 00:42:58.41\00:42:59.77 It is a reflection of His character in particular manifest 00:42:59.81\00:43:03.18 in obedience to His commandments because Revelation 12:17 says 00:43:03.21\00:43:06.01 here are those who keep the commandments of God, and they 00:43:06.05\00:43:09.55 have the testimony of Jesus. 00:43:09.58\00:43:10.99 So obedience in the last days motivated by love becomes 00:43:11.02\00:43:14.82 a critical part of the seal. 00:43:14.86\00:43:17.39 So at the end of time you only have two groups of people: those 00:43:17.43\00:43:20.03 are the mark of the beast, and those with the seal of God. 00:43:20.06\00:43:22.70 Now, the 144,000, they serve as God's end-time apostles, 00:43:22.73\00:43:26.94 you might say. 00:43:26.97\00:43:28.37 You have 12 apostles that helped launch 00:43:28.40\00:43:30.37 the early Christian church. 00:43:30.41\00:43:31.77 Here you have 12 times 12 times 1,000: 144,000 representing 00:43:31.81\00:43:36.11 a large group of people who are taking the three angels' 00:43:36.14\00:43:39.61 messages to the world, and as a result of their preaching and 00:43:39.65\00:43:44.05 sharing the everlasting gospel there are more than 144,000 00:43:44.09\00:43:47.72 literal people that are sealed and standing when Jesus 00:43:47.76\00:43:51.76 comes the second time. 00:43:51.79\00:43:53.13 Revelation goes on. 00:43:53.16\00:43:54.83 Revelation 7 talks about a great multitude from every nation, 00:43:54.86\00:43:58.50 kindred, tongue, and people that is standing when Jesus comes 00:43:58.53\00:44:02.44 that are resurrected--many of which are resurrected, 00:44:02.47\00:44:04.91 but those are the seal of God they're alive. 00:44:04.94\00:44:07.01 So we can get too worried about the number 144,000. 00:44:07.04\00:44:10.71 You know, the tendency is for people to start counting, and 00:44:10.75\00:44:13.68 they do the math and they think, "Wow, if only 144,000 people are 00:44:13.72\00:44:16.18 going to be alive and translated to heaven when Jesus comes, 00:44:16.22\00:44:19.62 what are my odds?" 00:44:19.65\00:44:21.32 But we got to recognize Revelation is a symbolic book, 00:44:21.36\00:44:23.29 and if you read on in the chapter 12,000 from each of 00:44:23.32\00:44:25.99 the tribes there is spiritual significance even to the numbers 00:44:26.03\00:44:28.66 that we find in the Book of Revelation. 00:44:28.70\00:44:30.50 We need not worry whether or not 00:44:30.53\00:44:33.27 there's going to be enough room for us. 00:44:33.30\00:44:34.94 If we receive Jesus and surrender to him, we can have 00:44:34.97\00:44:37.64 the promise of being sealed and being amongst those who are 00:44:37.67\00:44:40.64 ready for Jesus when He comes. 00:44:40.68\00:44:42.04 Aron: Amen. 00:44:42.08\00:44:43.65 Jean: All right, thank you. Next caller. 00:44:43.68\00:44:46.45 Aron: All right, our next caller is Ginger 00:44:46.48\00:44:48.12 calling in from Texas. 00:44:48.15\00:44:49.58 And Ginger, she is a first-time caller. 00:44:49.62\00:44:51.52 So hey. Welcome, Ginger, to the program. 00:44:51.55\00:44:53.56 Ginger: Well, thank you very much, and good evening, pastors. 00:44:53.59\00:44:57.29 I--my question is, I have a--I believe 00:44:57.33\00:45:03.30 it's the second commandment. 00:45:03.33\00:45:05.53 Love thy neighbor as thyself. 00:45:05.57\00:45:08.40 Well, I do love my neighbors, and I am a recent widow 00:45:08.44\00:45:12.17 and been blessed by my husband and the Lord. 00:45:12.21\00:45:17.25 And these temporary neighbors who are renting 00:45:17.28\00:45:20.48 from my neighbor are not so nice. 00:45:20.52\00:45:24.02 They help themselves to my property and to whatever they 00:45:24.05\00:45:30.66 want, and I pray for them every night and I'd like to know 00:45:30.69\00:45:36.67 how I cannot fear and not be angry with them. 00:45:36.70\00:45:41.70 And even as I said, I pray every night for them. 00:45:41.74\00:45:44.51 So please help me. 00:45:44.54\00:45:46.21 Jean: Yeah, absolutely, Ginger. 00:45:46.24\00:45:47.74 Well, you know, being a Christian is not always easy. 00:45:47.78\00:45:49.78 And, of course, we meet difficult people and we've got 00:45:49.81\00:45:52.65 to pray for grace, how to work with them. 00:45:52.68\00:45:54.52 First of all, you know, you can pray for them, 00:45:54.55\00:45:56.95 you can be the best example. 00:45:56.99\00:45:58.72 If they taking advantage of you, there's nothing wrong in 00:45:58.75\00:46:02.59 you explaining to them that this is not allowed to happen. 00:46:02.62\00:46:07.60 And, you know, if you have to ask them to move or have them 00:46:07.60\00:46:11.47 moved if they're renting from you, whatever the case might be, 00:46:11.50\00:46:13.67 you can do so. 00:46:13.70\00:46:15.10 You don't have to live in fear. 00:46:15.14\00:46:17.01 But despite that, you need to still pray for them, which you 00:46:17.04\00:46:19.44 do, and you need to love them. 00:46:19.47\00:46:21.21 The Bible says that we can go to Jesus with all of our cares. 00:46:21.24\00:46:24.31 We can cast all our cares upon Him for He cares for us. 00:46:24.35\00:46:27.85 So there is a balance of the one we don't want to be taken 00:46:27.88\00:46:31.15 advantage of, and there are laws in our land to help protect us 00:46:31.19\00:46:35.02 and there's nothing wrong in seeking for help in order 00:46:35.06\00:46:39.56 for--if there are laws to protect you. 00:46:39.59\00:46:41.60 But at the same time, individually we don't want anger 00:46:41.63\00:46:44.57 to eat us up because the one who really is harmed with anger is 00:46:44.60\00:46:47.74 the one who is angry at the other, kind of eats us up 00:46:47.77\00:46:50.47 from the inside. 00:46:50.51\00:46:52.04 So that's where we pray and say, 00:46:52.07\00:46:53.51 "Lord, give us a forgiving spirit." 00:46:53.54\00:46:55.14 And let the spirit of Jesus guide you. 00:46:55.18\00:46:57.48 And then just make wise choices. 00:46:57.51\00:46:59.55 Maybe speak with a godly friend and say, "You know, what do you 00:46:59.58\00:47:02.92 think would be the right thing for me to do in this situation?" 00:47:02.95\00:47:05.39 Aron: Yeah, the verse that you were quoting earlier about 00:47:05.42\00:47:08.76 casting all our cares upon Jesus is 1 Peter 5, verse 7, if you 00:47:08.79\00:47:12.99 want to mark that in your Bible and keep going back to it. 00:47:13.03\00:47:15.86 And also I'd recommend reading Matthew chapter 5 and 6 00:47:15.90\00:47:19.40 where Jesus has some words to say about 00:47:19.43\00:47:22.17 what we should do to our enemies. 00:47:22.20\00:47:24.24 Right? To pray for them. 00:47:24.27\00:47:25.77 And He also talks about if we're fearful or anxious 00:47:25.81\00:47:29.98 and what we should do. 00:47:30.01\00:47:31.71 Right? 00:47:31.75\00:47:33.25 And ultimately we are to put first the kingdom of heaven, 00:47:33.28\00:47:35.28 cast all our cares upon him, 00:47:35.32\00:47:36.79 and he'll continue to provide for us. 00:47:36.82\00:47:38.39 Jean: All right. Thank you for your call, Ginger. 00:47:38.42\00:47:40.36 Who do we have next? Aron: All right. 00:47:40.39\00:47:42.29 Next we have Dana calling in from Nevada. 00:47:42.32\00:47:44.99 Hello. Welcome to the program. 00:47:45.03\00:47:47.60 Dana: Yes. 00:47:47.60\00:47:49.20 Thank you for taking my question, which is 00:47:49.23\00:47:51.87 when Jesus died on the cross he was resurrected. 00:47:51.90\00:47:56.04 What happened to His mind? 00:47:56.07\00:47:59.61 He was half human, half holy or divine unlike us who when we die 00:47:59.64\00:48:07.58 we don't go to heaven. 00:48:07.62\00:48:09.78 Our mind--where did His mind go? 00:48:09.82\00:48:14.26 Jean: Okay, yeah, what happened to Jesus when He died? 00:48:14.29\00:48:16.73 Well, first of all, He wasn't half human and half divine. 00:48:16.76\00:48:19.36 I mean, I understand what you're saying. 00:48:19.39\00:48:21.23 He was 100% human and he was 100% divine. 00:48:21.26\00:48:24.17 However, Christ did not use his divinity 00:48:24.20\00:48:26.37 when He was on the earth. 00:48:26.40\00:48:28.20 He relied upon His Father just like we need 00:48:28.24\00:48:30.44 to rely upon our Father. 00:48:30.47\00:48:32.11 That's why when the disciples asked Him and said, you know, 00:48:32.14\00:48:34.08 "When are you coming back?" 00:48:34.11\00:48:35.34 Jesus said, "The only one who knows is my Father in heaven." 00:48:35.38\00:48:39.15 Well, Jesus knows now obviously, but that hadn't been revealed 00:48:39.18\00:48:43.05 to him by the Father. 00:48:43.08\00:48:44.65 And as Jesus grew as a child He learned, He learned 00:48:44.69\00:48:47.69 the very things that He had instructed Moses to write. 00:48:47.72\00:48:50.39 He grew in knowledge and wisdom, 00:48:50.43\00:48:53.16 and so He laid aside His divinity. 00:48:53.19\00:48:55.40 When Jesus came to the earth He was divine, 00:48:55.43\00:48:57.27 but He laid it aside. 00:48:57.30\00:48:58.60 He didn't use His divinity for himself. 00:48:58.63\00:49:00.44 It was a blessing for others. 00:49:00.47\00:49:02.10 So when Christ died on the cross and He was placed 00:49:02.14\00:49:04.21 in the tomb He was not conscious. 00:49:04.24\00:49:07.24 He was not aware of what was happening. 00:49:07.28\00:49:09.24 That divinity had been laid aside. 00:49:09.28\00:49:11.58 And when He was resurrected and He came to life, 00:49:11.61\00:49:14.58 then He was conscious of what was happening around Him. 00:49:14.62\00:49:17.59 So Jesus was not away from His body when He was in the tomb 00:49:17.62\00:49:21.19 and He was witnessing things and still conscious of what 00:49:21.22\00:49:23.43 was happening. 00:49:23.46\00:49:24.79 He was dead, and the reason we know that is because the Bible 00:49:24.83\00:49:27.03 says the wages of sin is death. 00:49:27.03\00:49:30.57 And Jesus paid the penalty for our transgression. 00:49:30.60\00:49:33.27 It was real death that Christ experienced. 00:49:33.30\00:49:35.94 So there is a mystery. 00:49:35.97\00:49:37.97 We don't understand how Christ could be 100% divine, 100% man. 00:49:38.01\00:49:42.94 There is an act of faith in just accepting what the Bible says. 00:49:42.98\00:49:46.08 Some of these things will probably be further explained 00:49:46.11\00:49:48.75 when we get to heaven, but from the Bible it's pretty clear 00:49:48.78\00:49:52.32 that when Jesus died He was dead and He rose again 00:49:52.35\00:49:54.86 early Sunday morning. 00:49:54.89\00:49:56.56 Aron: Yeah, one thing I want to add is in John chapter 20 and 00:49:56.59\00:49:59.46 verse 17 after Jesus has resurrected Mary is there. 00:49:59.49\00:50:02.93 Right? 00:50:02.96\00:50:04.90 And Mary is just so excited to see Jesus 00:50:04.93\00:50:06.63 that she clings to him. 00:50:06.67\00:50:08.10 She grabs hold of him, and Jesus responds to her and he says, 00:50:08.14\00:50:10.51 "Do not cling to Me for I have not yet ascended to My Father." 00:50:10.54\00:50:15.11 Right? 00:50:15.14\00:50:17.05 So here Jesus is making clear that, "Hey, while He 00:50:17.08\00:50:19.15 was in the tomb, He was not whisked away to heaven." 00:50:19.18\00:50:22.68 Right? Or in hell. 00:50:22.72\00:50:24.52 He was in the tomb. 00:50:24.55\00:50:25.99 Jean: Okay. Thank you. 00:50:26.02\00:50:27.52 Good question. Aron: All right. 00:50:27.56\00:50:29.36 Our next caller is Giselle calling in from Massachusetts. 00:50:29.39\00:50:32.29 Welcome, Giselle. 00:50:32.33\00:50:34.40 What's your Bible question for us? 00:50:34.46\00:50:36.16 Giselle: Hi. Yes. 00:50:36.20\00:50:37.93 My question is in Psalm 119, verse 2. 00:50:37.97\00:50:42.64 It said, "Blessed are those who keep His testimonies." 00:50:42.67\00:50:46.74 But I don't know what that means, to keep His testimonies. 00:50:46.78\00:50:49.61 Jean: Okay, good question. 00:50:49.64\00:50:51.18 Now, when you look at the Bible, it's the Old Testament and then 00:50:51.21\00:50:53.92 also the new, but beginning with the Old Testament 00:50:53.95\00:50:55.58 the Old Testament is really divided up into two parts, 00:50:55.62\00:50:57.95 especially for the Hebrew mind, for the Jew. 00:50:57.99\00:51:00.32 The first part is what they refer to as the law, 00:51:00.36\00:51:02.82 and the law was the first five books written by Moses. 00:51:02.86\00:51:05.46 And then there was what they called the prophets also 00:51:05.49\00:51:08.93 referred to as the Testimonies, and that was the writings 00:51:08.96\00:51:12.03 in the rest of the Old Testament. 00:51:12.07\00:51:14.10 So you have the law and the prophets. 00:51:14.14\00:51:16.10 That's what the Bible says in the mouth of two or three 00:51:16.14\00:51:18.34 witnesses every truth is to be established, to the law 00:51:18.37\00:51:22.28 or to the testament. 00:51:22.31\00:51:23.65 If they speak not according to this, there is no light in them, 00:51:23.68\00:51:25.45 the Bible says. 00:51:25.48\00:51:26.82 So the testimonies refers to the writings of the prophets. 00:51:26.85\00:51:29.68 Now, the New Testament is really an extension of the prophets. 00:51:29.72\00:51:34.06 So you still have those two divisions. 00:51:34.09\00:51:36.19 You have the law, the first five books written by Moses. 00:51:36.22\00:51:38.73 You have the Old Testament writings of the prophets, 00:51:38.76\00:51:41.23 and really the New Testament is an extension 00:51:41.26\00:51:42.96 of the writings of the prophets. 00:51:43.00\00:51:44.90 So we still have those two witnesses 00:51:44.93\00:51:46.60 or those two testimonies. 00:51:46.63\00:51:48.57 So when David says blessed are those who keep His testimonies, 00:51:48.60\00:51:51.24 it's not only His law but it's also those 00:51:51.27\00:51:54.54 who hearken unto the prophets. 00:51:54.58\00:51:57.05 The Bible says, "Hear His prophets, believe them 00:51:57.08\00:51:59.65 and you shall prosper." 00:51:59.68\00:52:01.78 So the testimonies in a broader sense are what God has given 00:52:01.82\00:52:05.99 His people as revealed through the writings of the prophets. 00:52:06.02\00:52:08.86 Aron: That's right. Yeah. 00:52:08.89\00:52:11.03 Thank you so much, Giselle, for the question. 00:52:11.06\00:52:12.63 Jean: You know, just one more thing just to add to that, 00:52:12.66\00:52:14.20 you know, we find the same thing for God's remnant people 00:52:14.23\00:52:16.56 in the last days. 00:52:16.60\00:52:17.97 Revelation 12:17 talks about those who keep the commandments 00:52:18.00\00:52:20.40 of God, that's the law, and they have the testimony of Jesus, 00:52:20.44\00:52:23.41 that is the spirit of prophecy according to Revelation 19:10. 00:52:23.44\00:52:26.31 So they also obedient not only to the Ten Commandments, to 00:52:26.34\00:52:29.64 the law, but also to the rest of Scripture; that which has been 00:52:29.68\00:52:32.71 revealed through the prophets, through the spirit of prophecy. 00:52:32.75\00:52:35.42 Aron: Good point, good point. All right. 00:52:35.45\00:52:37.79 On to our next question, we have Mo who is a first-time caller 00:52:37.82\00:52:42.29 calling in from our very own California. 00:52:42.32\00:52:44.66 Welcome, Mo, to the program. 00:52:44.69\00:52:46.46 Mo: Hello. Thanks for taking my call. 00:52:46.49\00:52:48.30 My question is, why are the most churches nowadays still breaking 00:52:48.33\00:52:56.07 God's rules, regulations, and commandments 00:52:56.10\00:52:59.74 of collecting tithing? 00:52:59.77\00:53:01.91 Because my understanding is that tithing was--the only one 00:53:01.94\00:53:07.75 permitted to collect tithing was the high priest out of the tribe 00:53:07.78\00:53:12.09 of Levi, and the only people that were supposed to pay 00:53:12.12\00:53:15.69 the tithing was the 11 tribes of Israel to the 1 tribe of Levi, 00:53:15.72\00:53:19.13 you know, and that high priest that was the only one allowed to 00:53:19.16\00:53:22.56 collect it had to go through a ritual ceremony and had to be 00:53:22.60\00:53:25.93 between the ages of, I think, 24 and 55 and had to come out of 00:53:25.97\00:53:30.21 the bloodline of Aaron. 00:53:30.24\00:53:31.57 Jean: Yeah, let me jump in, 00:53:31.61\00:53:33.31 Mo, while we're going to run out of time. 00:53:33.34\00:53:34.74 Good question, though. 00:53:34.78\00:53:36.14 Why do Christian churches encourage folks to give tithe? 00:53:36.18\00:53:39.18 Well, if you look at the New Testament example, 00:53:39.21\00:53:41.35 tithe is actually really the beginning of the giving. 00:53:41.38\00:53:44.45 The Bible speaks of the church of Acts where it says people saw 00:53:44.49\00:53:47.92 land and houses and they freely gave to the work of the 00:53:47.96\00:53:51.76 proclamation of the gospel. 00:53:51.79\00:53:53.43 But in New Testament times, if the church is going to fulfill 00:53:53.46\00:53:56.33 its mission of taking the gospel to the world it needs to have 00:53:56.36\00:53:59.03 support from the members. 00:53:59.07\00:54:01.27 And the tithe principle that we find in the Old Testament is 00:54:01.30\00:54:04.11 really just the starting point. 00:54:04.14\00:54:05.94 In addition to tithes, we also find offerings. 00:54:05.97\00:54:08.64 Now, it is true we don't have a temple and we don't have a high 00:54:08.68\00:54:11.58 priest as the Jews did, but we do have a heavenly temple and 00:54:11.61\00:54:15.05 our high priest is Jesus. 00:54:15.08\00:54:16.85 And even though we can't ascend up to heaven and place it in His 00:54:16.89\00:54:19.99 hand, when we give it to the furtherance of His work 00:54:20.02\00:54:24.23 we are giving it to Christ. 00:54:24.26\00:54:25.63 And so yes, we still return our tithes to the high priest Jesus, 00:54:25.66\00:54:29.40 but we do so by supporting the work of the proclamation 00:54:29.43\00:54:32.37 of the gospel. 00:54:32.40\00:54:33.84 So we are in harmony with what happened in the Old Testament 00:54:33.87\00:54:36.94 with a spiritual application, which is a little bit different. 00:54:36.97\00:54:39.87 You know, we do have a study guide that talks about this and 00:54:39.91\00:54:43.31 has a lot more Scriptures. 00:54:43.35\00:54:44.65 It's called "In God We Trust." 00:54:44.68\00:54:46.48 We'll be happy to send it to anyone who calls and asks. 00:54:46.51\00:54:49.22 Again, that number is 800-835-6747. 00:54:49.25\00:54:52.85 Again, just ask for that study guide. 00:54:52.89\00:54:55.46 It's called "In God We Trust." 00:54:55.49\00:54:57.19 We'll send it to you if you're in the US or in Canada. 00:54:57.23\00:54:59.63 If you're outside of North America, just visit our website. 00:54:59.66\00:55:02.90 Now, friends, you hear the music in the background. 00:55:02.93\00:55:05.37 We're going to say goodbye to those listening on satellite, 00:55:05.40\00:55:07.37 but for the rest of you stand by. 00:55:07.40\00:55:09.00 We're going to come back with some email Bible questions. 00:55:09.04\00:55:12.11 announcer: Thank you for listening to today's broadcast. 00:55:14.58\00:55:17.61 We hope you understand your Bible even better than before. 00:55:17.65\00:55:21.35 "Bible Answers Live" is produced by Amazing Facts International, 00:55:21.38\00:55:25.15 a faith-based ministry located in Granite Bay, California. 00:55:25.19\00:55:29.52 Aron: All right. Welcome back. 00:55:30.76\00:55:32.33 We have 2 minutes here to wrap up with some email questions. 00:55:32.36\00:55:36.13 Thank you all those who have been emailing in questions. 00:55:36.16\00:55:38.40 You can email questions into BALquestions@amazingfacts.org. 00:55:38.43\00:55:43.97 So some of the questions we have for today is Violet. 00:55:44.01\00:55:47.94 She emailed in and asked, "In reading the Old Testament, 00:55:47.98\00:55:51.25 I noticed that Israel is involved in many wars. 00:55:51.28\00:55:55.25 We preach that God is love, so I do not understand 00:55:55.28\00:55:58.49 why these wars were happening. 00:55:58.52\00:56:00.32 Can you please explain?" Jean: Okay, good question. 00:56:00.36\00:56:03.32 Yes, the Bible does contain war, but in addition to war it does 00:56:03.36\00:56:06.66 also contain acts of judgment. 00:56:06.70\00:56:09.16 For example, the ten plagues that came upon Egypt. 00:56:09.20\00:56:11.27 You have the army of the Egyptians destroyed 00:56:11.30\00:56:14.04 in the Red Sea. 00:56:14.07\00:56:15.44 You've got the flood that destroyed the wicked. 00:56:15.47\00:56:17.14 You've got fire that came down on Sodom and Gomorrah. 00:56:17.17\00:56:19.01 So there are times where God will act as judge. 00:56:19.04\00:56:22.04 In order to preserve truth, He might bring judgment upon 00:56:22.08\00:56:26.25 some wicked nation or city. 00:56:26.28\00:56:29.02 That is God doing the work, and in the case of Israel going to 00:56:29.05\00:56:32.42 war they were obeying a commandment given specifically 00:56:32.45\00:56:35.56 by God and God was very specific on which nation they were to 00:56:35.59\00:56:39.46 attack and what they were to do. 00:56:39.49\00:56:41.66 So it was an act of judgment. 00:56:41.70\00:56:43.37 However, individually the Bible tells us that we need 00:56:43.40\00:56:46.37 to trust ourselves to God. 00:56:46.40\00:56:48.04 Jesus said if somebody strikes you on the one cheek 00:56:48.07\00:56:50.67 what do you do? 00:56:50.71\00:56:52.07 You turn the other. 00:56:52.11\00:56:53.64 The Bible says, "Vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord." 00:56:53.68\00:56:55.48 We are to love our enemies. 00:56:55.51\00:56:57.21 So on a personal application, absolutely we need to trust 00:56:57.25\00:57:00.92 ourselves to God and love and pray 00:57:00.95\00:57:02.82 for those that persecute us. 00:57:02.85\00:57:04.19 Aron: All right, next question, 00:57:04.22\00:57:05.85 we have Zach who asks, "Jesus told the thief 00:57:05.89\00:57:08.42 on the cross that he would be with Christ in paradise. 00:57:08.46\00:57:11.46 Was the thief part of the first fruits when Christ resurrected?" 00:57:11.49\00:57:16.16 Jean: Okay. Well, good question. 00:57:16.20\00:57:17.63 Well, first of all, where the thief says to Christ, you know, 00:57:17.67\00:57:20.97 "Lord, remember me," it's important to note the thief 00:57:21.00\00:57:23.57 said, "Lord, remember me when you come in your kingdom." 00:57:23.61\00:57:26.04 So the thief was an expected to receive a reward that day. 00:57:26.07\00:57:28.48 Jesus gave him the assurance that day, 00:57:28.51\00:57:31.01 "You will be with me in paradise. 00:57:31.05\00:57:33.01 Verily I say unto you, you shall be with me." 00:57:33.05\00:57:35.62 So the promise was that he would be remembered when Jesus 00:57:35.65\00:57:38.35 came the second time. 00:57:38.39\00:57:39.95 That's when the thief was to receive his reward. 00:57:39.99\00:57:42.42 Now, was he part of the special resurrection? 00:57:42.46\00:57:44.26 Probably not because he was asking that Christ would 00:57:44.29\00:57:47.76 remember him when he comes in His kingdom. 00:57:47.83\00:57:49.63 However, the Bible doesn't tell us who were the ones part of 00:57:49.66\00:57:52.97 that special resurrection that occurred at the time 00:57:53.00\00:57:55.50 of Christ's resurrection. 00:57:55.54\00:57:57.07 They were taken to heaven, and I guess we'll have to wait 00:57:57.11\00:58:00.38 until we get to heaven to find out who exactly they were. 00:58:00.41\00:58:02.58 Aron: That's right. 00:58:02.61\00:58:03.91 Jean: Well, you know, friends, 00:58:03.95\00:58:05.31 I'm looking at the clock, Pastor Aron. 00:58:05.35\00:58:06.98 I don't think we have time for another question. 00:58:07.02\00:58:08.62 Again, we want to thank you so much for emailing your questions 00:58:08.65\00:58:10.65 to us here at Amazing Facts. 00:58:10.69\00:58:12.55 We look forward to studying further again next week. 00:58:12.59\00:58:14.96 Tell your friends and visit the website AmazingFacts.com. 00:58:14.99\00:58:18.09 Till then, God bless. 00:58:18.13\00:58:20.33 announcer: "Bible Answers Live," 00:58:21.83\00:58:23.37 honest and accurate answers 00:58:23.40\00:58:25.67 to your Bible questions. 00:58:25.70\00:58:28.54
