¤¤¤ 00:00:01.10\00:00:02.96 male announcer: It is the best-selling book in history. 00:00:03.10\00:00:05.47 No volume ever written has been more loved and quoted; 00:00:05.60\00:00:09.70 and its words, sometimes simple and sometimes mysterious, 00:00:09.74\00:00:13.41 should always be studied carefully. 00:00:13.44\00:00:16.34 It is the Bible, the Word of God. 00:00:16.38\00:00:19.68 Welcome to "Bible Answers Live," providing accurate 00:00:19.71\00:00:23.85 and practical answer to all your Bible questions. 00:00:23.89\00:00:28.36 This broadcast is a previously-recorded episode. 00:00:28.39\00:00:31.19 To receive any of the Bible resources mentioned in this 00:00:31.23\00:00:33.80 broadcast, call 800-835-6747. 00:00:33.83\00:00:38.37 Once again, that's 800-835-6747. 00:00:38.40\00:00:43.71 Now here's your host from Amazing Facts International, 00:00:43.74\00:00:47.41 Pastor Jean Ross. 00:00:47.44\00:00:49.98 Jean Ross: Hello, friends. 00:00:50.01\00:00:51.55 Pastor Doug is out this evening, but how about an amazing fact? 00:00:51.58\00:00:54.25 Astonishing and awe-inspiring, a dog's sense of smell is so 00:00:54.28\00:00:58.55 remarkable that they can detect scents at concentrations 00:00:58.59\00:01:01.62 as low as parts per trillion, making their sense of smell tens 00:01:01.66\00:01:05.66 of thousands of times more sensitive than ours. 00:01:05.69\00:01:09.33 To put this into perspective, a dog, for example, walking 00:01:09.36\00:01:12.43 into a kitchen hours after a meal was cooked, he's able, 00:01:12.47\00:01:15.97 if he chooses, to distinguish the individual ingredients, 00:01:16.00\00:01:18.97 the herbs, and even the spices that were 00:01:19.01\00:01:22.01 used in the preparation of multiple dishes. 00:01:22.04\00:01:25.05 Now, in the field of search and rescue, 00:01:25.08\00:01:28.85 dogs play a critical role in locating missing persons. 00:01:28.88\00:01:30.99 These dogs able to detect the faintest traces of human 00:01:31.02\00:01:33.42 scent even under the most challenging environments. 00:01:33.46\00:01:36.62 One incredible incidence occurred during the aftermath 00:01:36.66\00:01:39.76 of 9/11 attacks in New York City. 00:01:39.79\00:01:42.06 Trained dogs tirelessly worked, alongside their rescue teams, 00:01:42.10\00:01:45.13 sniffing through rubble and debris to locate survivors. 00:01:45.17\00:01:48.57 In one instance, a search-and-rescue dog, 00:01:48.60\00:01:51.37 named Tracker, located a survivor buried under 30 feet 00:01:51.41\00:01:55.61 of debris from the collapsed World Trade Center. 00:01:55.64\00:01:59.15 Another compelling example of the dog's sense of smell 00:01:59.18\00:02:02.55 involves the world of medical detection dogs. 00:02:02.58\00:02:06.15 These canine marvels have been trained to detect the scent of 00:02:06.19\00:02:09.82 specific diseases, including certain types 00:02:09.86\00:02:12.13 of cancers and diabetes. 00:02:12.16\00:02:14.10 Trained dogs are able to identify certain cancers 00:02:14.10\00:02:16.83 in patients by simply sniffing their breath 00:02:16.87\00:02:19.60 or a mole on their skin. 00:02:19.63\00:02:21.67 A dog's sense of smell is capable of feats that defy our 00:02:21.70\00:02:26.21 understanding, from locating survivors in disaster zones, 00:02:26.24\00:02:29.51 to detecting diseases with astonishing accuracy. 00:02:29.54\00:02:32.55 The dog's sense of smell serves as a constant reminder 00:02:32.58\00:02:35.52 of the marvels of a compassionate Creator God. 00:02:35.55\00:02:40.52 The Bible tells us, in Romans chapter 1, verse 20, speaking of 00:02:40.56\00:02:43.66 the marvels of God's creation, "For since the creation of the 00:02:43.69\00:02:47.86 world, His invisible attributes have been clearly seen, being 00:02:47.86\00:02:50.37 understood by the things that were made, even His eternal 00:02:50.40\00:02:53.30 power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse." 00:02:53.34\00:02:57.81 You know, Carlos, in the world around us, just the things that 00:02:57.84\00:03:00.81 God has made, we can see God's hand. 00:03:00.84\00:03:03.58 We stand in awe when we see what animals can do. 00:03:03.61\00:03:06.65 You think of sea turtles that are able to travel thousands of 00:03:06.68\00:03:10.42 miles from where they were born and then come back to the very 00:03:10.45\00:03:13.76 same beach to lay eggs. 00:03:13.79\00:03:15.56 All of the marvels of creation testify to us of a caring, 00:03:15.59\00:03:18.69 loving Creator. 00:03:18.73\00:03:20.13 Carlos Munoz: Amen, amen, that makes me think of the new 00:03:20.16\00:03:22.90 heavens and the new earth when we'll have 00:03:22.93\00:03:25.00 all our senses enlightened 00:03:25.03\00:03:26.40 Jean: That's right. 00:03:26.43\00:03:28.17 Carlos: Imagine what we'll be able to do too. 00:03:28.20\00:03:30.01 Jean: Absolutely. 00:03:30.04\00:03:31.94 Well, friends, if you'd like to learn more about the marvels of 00:03:31.97\00:03:34.11 God's creation, we've got a free book that we would like 00:03:34.14\00:03:36.11 to give you, one of the Amazing Facts books. 00:03:36.14\00:03:37.88 It's called "Wonders of Creation," 00:03:37.91\00:03:40.58 and how do people get that book? 00:05:11.77\00:05:13.38 Jean: Doing well, thank you. 00:05:13.41\00:05:15.21 Debbie: Okay, I have a question. 00:05:15.24\00:05:17.11 I'm in the YouTube chat, and we were talking about Moses last 00:05:17.15\00:05:21.25 week in the chat, and I wanted to know, did God bury Moses, 00:05:21.28\00:05:27.16 or did he go straight to heaven? 00:05:27.19\00:05:28.82 And in Jude 1:9, when it says, "Michael the archangel," 00:05:28.86\00:05:33.80 we want to know if that's Jesus. 00:05:33.83\00:05:36.93 Jean: Sure, we'll take it in two parts. 00:05:36.97\00:05:39.67 First of all, was Moses buried? 00:05:39.70\00:05:41.87 Well, the Bible says he was. 00:05:41.90\00:05:43.94 It says he died, and God buried him. 00:05:43.97\00:05:45.71 And then, when you go to Jude and you read that story, 00:05:45.74\00:05:48.11 it talks about Michael the archangel and the devil 00:05:48.14\00:05:50.85 disputing over the body of Moses. 00:05:50.88\00:05:52.75 Now, the Bible doesn't say how long Moses was buried. 00:05:52.78\00:05:56.62 It is interesting, though, you know. 00:05:56.65\00:05:59.59 He says, as a type of Christ, he led the children 00:05:59.62\00:06:02.66 of Israel out of bondage. 00:06:02.69\00:06:04.66 He brought them to the Promised Land. 00:06:04.69\00:06:06.53 In one way, as a type, Moses symbolizes Christ. 00:06:06.56\00:06:09.46 Jesus is our deliverer. 00:06:09.50\00:06:11.30 He delivers us from sin. 00:06:11.33\00:06:13.00 And Jesus died. 00:06:13.03\00:06:14.87 He was buried, but then He rose, and He ascended to heaven. 00:06:14.90\00:06:18.14 Well, maybe we see in the experience of Moses. 00:06:18.17\00:06:19.61 So the Bible doesn't say. 00:06:19.64\00:06:21.04 Maybe it was three days. Who knows? 00:06:21.08\00:06:23.31 Three nights? 00:06:23.35\00:06:24.88 But Jude, where it talks about Michael the archangel, yes, we 00:06:24.91\00:06:28.62 believe that Michael is one of the prophetic names that we find 00:06:28.65\00:06:31.75 both in Revelation and Daniel with reference to Jesus. 00:06:31.79\00:06:35.06 We also find that in Jude. 00:06:35.09\00:06:36.83 We're not saying Jesus is an angel. 00:06:36.86\00:06:38.63 The word "archangel" simply means "the ruler of the angels" 00:06:38.66\00:06:42.16 or "the one above the angels." 00:06:42.20\00:06:44.73 Some translators put it as "the commander of the angelic host" 00:06:44.77\00:06:48.04 or "the commander of the angels." 00:06:48.07\00:06:49.77 So, when we talk about Michael, 00:06:49.80\00:06:51.44 we're not saying that Christ is an angel. 00:06:51.47\00:06:53.38 By any means, He's the ruler of the angels. 00:06:53.41\00:06:55.08 Now, there's a couple of ways we can help to identify this. 00:06:55.11\00:06:57.21 The Bible says that "when Jesus comes, He will have the voice 00:06:57.25\00:07:01.15 of the archangel," and the voice of the archangel 00:07:01.18\00:07:03.62 will raise the dead. 00:07:03.65\00:07:05.52 And Jesus said, speaking of His Second Coming, "They 00:07:05.55\00:07:08.69 shall hear the voice of the Son of Man and shall come forth." 00:07:08.72\00:07:10.63 So if Christ has the voice that raises the dead and, according 00:07:10.66\00:07:13.90 to Paul in Thessalonians, it's the voice of the archangel 00:07:13.93\00:07:16.56 that raises the dead, then just put two and two together: 00:07:16.60\00:07:19.20 Michael, then, is the prophetic name of Jesus. 00:07:19.23\00:07:22.34 And the word "Michael" means "who is like God." 00:07:22.37\00:07:24.31 So there's a number of parallels there. 00:07:24.34\00:07:26.07 We actually have a book called "Michael the Archangel," 00:07:26.11\00:07:28.31 and we'll be happy to send this to anyone who calls and asks. 00:07:28.34\00:07:30.78 What's that number, Carlos? 00:07:30.81\00:07:32.95 Carlos: Yes, that number is 1-800-835-6747, 00:07:32.98\00:07:36.12 or, if you're on your mobile device, you can dial "#250" 00:07:36.15\00:07:41.39 and say, "Bible Answers Live!" 00:07:41.42\00:07:43.46 and you can request it there. 00:07:43.49\00:07:44.83 Jean: Okay, very good. 00:07:44.86\00:07:46.43 Thank you, Debbie, for your call. 00:07:46.46\00:07:48.50 Carlos: Next, we have Jerry from Colorado. 00:07:48.53\00:07:50.50 Jerry, you're live on the air. 00:07:50.53\00:07:52.27 Jerry: Hey, thanks, guys, for answering my questions. 00:07:52.30\00:07:54.47 I just wanted to address something that you said at 00:07:54.50\00:07:56.14 the very beginning, but there's a book out there called 00:07:56.17\00:07:58.17 "The Story of Redemption," and chapter 3, 00:07:58.21\00:08:02.58 it gives a special glimpse of Eden. 00:08:02.61\00:08:05.88 My question tonight is, when the ark was restored to Jerusalem 00:08:05.91\00:08:14.19 after it spent a time--after that gentleman's house, after it 00:08:14.22\00:08:19.53 had been taken back from the Philistines, was that in a tent? 00:08:19.56\00:08:22.03 And was it an original sanctuary tent? 00:08:22.06\00:08:25.43 And did they have sanctuary services morning and evening? 00:08:25.47\00:08:29.27 That talks about that in 1 Chronicles 16. 00:08:29.30\00:08:33.48 Jean: Okay, good question. 00:08:33.51\00:08:35.04 Yeah, let's give a little bit of the background for those 00:08:35.08\00:08:36.88 who might be joining us. 00:08:36.91\00:08:38.38 So, when the children of Israel took possession of the Promised 00:08:38.41\00:08:40.48 Land, the place where the tabernacle was placed, which was 00:08:40.52\00:08:44.22 the tent where, of course, you had the Holy and the Most 00:08:44.25\00:08:47.09 Holy Place in the outer courtyard, was in a place called 00:08:47.12\00:08:49.69 a Shiloh, at first, and it was there that the temple was kept 00:08:49.72\00:08:53.70 before it was moved, at the time of Solomon, into--actually, 00:08:53.73\00:08:58.57 the temple, meaning, the tabernacle, the tent was moved 00:08:58.60\00:09:02.24 during the time of David, but the actual building 00:09:02.27\00:09:04.71 was built during the time of Solomon. 00:09:04.74\00:09:06.57 The Ark of the Covenant was taken by the Philistines 00:09:06.61\00:09:09.74 for a period of time and came back to Israel, 00:09:09.78\00:09:12.35 and it was placed back there at Shiloh where it was. 00:09:12.38\00:09:15.18 They did offer the services, the morning and the evening 00:09:15.22\00:09:18.42 sacrifices, as had been given during their wilderness 00:09:18.45\00:09:21.02 wanderings, even during the time of the exodus coming up 00:09:21.06\00:09:23.53 from Jerusalem. 00:09:23.56\00:09:25.33 The Levites were in charge of taking care of the different 00:09:25.36\00:09:28.03 things associated with the temple. 00:09:28.06\00:09:30.07 It was also during this time that you read about Samuel the 00:09:30.10\00:09:33.07 prophet, who was also a Levite and also served in the temple 00:09:33.10\00:09:36.30 around that time period. 00:09:36.34\00:09:38.44 So it was there until David, then it was transferred to 00:09:38.47\00:09:40.98 Jerusalem, and then, during the time of King Solomon, 00:09:41.01\00:09:43.75 it was actually placed in the temple that was actually 00:09:43.78\00:09:46.41 built of stone. 00:09:46.45\00:09:47.88 Carlos: Amen. 00:09:47.92\00:09:49.52 Jean: All right, who do we have next? 00:09:49.55\00:09:51.05 Carlos: Next, we have Gary from Illinois. 00:09:51.09\00:09:53.15 Welcome to "Bible Answers Live." 00:09:53.19\00:09:54.86 You're on the air. 00:09:54.89\00:09:56.32 Gary: Thank you. 00:09:56.36\00:09:57.89 We're seeing major climate events happening: Canadian 00:09:57.93\00:10:01.46 wildfires, sizeable hail, European heat waves, you know, 00:10:01.50\00:10:05.03 and fire, water temperatures above 100 degrees around the 00:10:05.07\00:10:07.94 Florida Keys, where our, you know, coral reefs are at. 00:10:07.97\00:10:12.24 And so these are the signs that Jesus says, in Matthew 24, 00:10:12.27\00:10:16.04 "When you see these signs, you know that time is near," but, at 00:10:16.08\00:10:18.95 the same time, I'm seeing diversions, you know, 00:10:18.98\00:10:21.75 congressional hearings on UFOs, where they got bodies. 00:10:21.78\00:10:24.95 They got spacecrafts and reporters interviewing AI, 00:10:24.99\00:10:28.69 you know, about their intentions towards humanity. 00:10:28.72\00:10:32.36 And so my question is, you know, yes, we need to be--we need to 00:10:32.39\00:10:37.77 keep ourselves focused on the signs that Jesus is talking 00:10:37.80\00:10:42.44 about, but do you think these diversions are, you know, 00:10:42.47\00:10:46.04 a coincidence, or do you think we're going to see regular, you 00:10:46.07\00:10:50.25 know, diversions that'll draw us away from these important signs 00:10:50.28\00:10:53.72 we see in Matthew 24 about, you know, plagues and pestilence, 00:10:53.75\00:10:58.52 wars, and rumors of wars, you know? 00:10:58.55\00:11:00.49 Jean: Yeah, let me add to that. 00:11:00.52\00:11:02.02 Good question. You know, first of all, 00:11:02.06\00:11:04.36 the devil is going to try and deceive. 00:11:04.39\00:11:05.99 The Bible says that, before Jesus comes, the devil will 00:11:06.03\00:11:07.60 deceive, if possible--this is in Matthew 24--even the very elect. 00:11:07.66\00:11:10.50 Now, that doesn't mean he's going to deceive the elect, but 00:11:10.53\00:11:13.34 his deceptions are going to be so powerful, so well crafted 00:11:13.37\00:11:16.50 that he'll try and deceive anyone and everyone. 00:11:16.54\00:11:19.51 So there's going to be some deception for just about every 00:11:19.54\00:11:23.51 person out there that doesn't know the truth of God's Word. 00:11:23.55\00:11:25.85 Whether it's going to be so-called alien visitations from 00:11:25.88\00:11:29.28 space or whether it's other conspiracy theories that might 00:11:29.32\00:11:33.19 arise or maybe advances with AI or whatever, whatever it might 00:11:33.22\00:11:37.56 be, the devil is going to try to use it to deceive people 00:11:37.59\00:11:41.20 in the last days. 00:11:41.23\00:11:42.50 Now, we do know that a changing world-- 00:11:42.53\00:11:44.47 the Bible does speak of earthquakes. 00:11:44.50\00:11:46.43 It talks of natural disasters and calamities; talks of "war, 00:11:46.47\00:11:49.90 and rumors of wars," all of these things Jesus gives you, 00:11:49.94\00:11:52.91 in Matthew 24, as signs of the coming of Christ, but I think 00:11:52.94\00:11:55.58 one of the most significant signs is He says, "As it was in 00:11:55.61\00:11:59.31 the days of Noah, so it'll also be before the Son of Man comes," 00:11:59.35\00:12:02.05 and He says, "As it was in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah, 00:12:02.08\00:12:05.29 so it'll be before Jesus comes." 00:12:05.32\00:12:07.02 We see the moral decay in society, and I think that's one 00:12:07.06\00:12:10.26 of the clearest evidences that we are living close 00:12:10.29\00:12:12.33 to the end of time. 00:12:12.36\00:12:13.53 We've been bombarded in just the last decade or so with some 00:12:13.56\00:12:17.70 of the strangest social ideas of what is marriage or what is 00:12:17.73\00:12:22.40 a man or what is a woman or what constitutes a family that, 00:12:22.44\00:12:28.51 you know, people prior to that probably would've never even 00:12:28.54\00:12:32.15 entertained, so we can see, just in the moral fabric of society, 00:12:32.18\00:12:34.85 things are just falling apart. 00:12:34.88\00:12:36.62 And, yes, Jesus does need to come, and I think the devil is 00:12:36.65\00:12:40.26 going to use everything he can to try and deceive, but we don't 00:12:40.29\00:12:42.56 have to be deceived as the Bible says, "If you know the truth, 00:12:42.59\00:12:45.16 the truth will set you free," and that's where our hope 00:12:45.19\00:12:48.16 needs to be. 00:12:48.20\00:12:49.70 Carlos: Amen, and I was just going to say that, also, I think 00:12:49.73\00:12:52.37 that we're not going to--we know these things. 00:12:52.40\00:12:54.04 We're not going to be focused on them. 00:12:54.07\00:12:55.50 Our focus is going to be on wanting to draw closer to God, 00:12:55.54\00:12:58.24 wanting to do God's will, wanting to reach others. 00:12:58.27\00:13:01.08 So even though we're aware of these things, our focus is not 00:13:01.11\00:13:03.45 on those things, per se, but our focus is going to be 00:13:03.48\00:13:05.55 on uplifting and serving God and as best we can? 00:13:05.58\00:13:09.32 Jean: Absolutely. 00:13:09.35\00:13:11.05 You know, we have a study guide, Pastor Carlos, that talks about 00:13:11.09\00:13:12.99 the Second Coming of Christ, and it's called "Ultimate 00:13:13.02\00:13:15.39 Deliverance," and that is really what the world needs. 00:13:15.42\00:13:18.63 That's going to be the ultimate solution to the problems 00:13:18.66\00:13:20.80 that we have here on this earth. 00:13:20.83\00:13:22.50 We'll be happy to send this to anyone who calls and asks. 00:13:22.53\00:13:25.10 Just call and ask for that study guide. 00:13:25.13\00:13:26.33 It's called "Ultimate Deliverance." 00:13:26.37\00:13:27.84 We'll be happy to send it to anyone here in North America. 00:13:27.87\00:13:29.97 If you're outside of North America, just go to the website, 00:13:30.01\00:13:32.84 just, AmazingFacts.org. 00:13:32.87\00:13:34.31 And what's the number to call? 00:13:34.34\00:13:35.88 Carlos: Offer is 1-800-835-6747, 00:13:35.91\00:13:38.38 or mobile devices, dial "#250," and say, "Bible Answers Live!" 00:13:38.41\00:13:43.75 and you'll be able to order that. 00:13:43.79\00:13:45.19 Jean: All right. 00:13:45.22\00:13:46.92 Carlos: All right, next, we have Patty from Oregon. 00:13:46.96\00:13:48.86 Patty, welcome to "Bible Answers Live." 00:13:48.89\00:13:50.69 Patty: Yes, a lot of people were asking me if women 00:13:50.73\00:13:55.26 should be pastors, ordained pastors. 00:13:55.30\00:13:59.13 Jean: Okay, all right, good question. 00:13:59.17\00:14:01.17 Well, you know, of course, what we want to do, especially 00:14:01.20\00:14:03.07 when it comes to this program, is we want to ask, 00:14:03.10\00:14:04.74 well, what does the Bible say? 00:14:04.77\00:14:06.47 Does the Bible give us an example of a woman that served 00:14:06.51\00:14:09.98 in the capacity of an apostle or as a priest? 00:14:10.01\00:14:14.38 And, to be honest, just with the Word, with the Bible, both 00:14:14.42\00:14:17.45 in the Old Testament and in the New Testament, we don't find 00:14:17.49\00:14:20.19 women serving in those roles as a priest or as an apostle. 00:14:20.22\00:14:24.13 Now, what we do find, which is very interesting, both in the 00:14:24.16\00:14:27.23 Old Testament and in the New Testament, we do find examples 00:14:27.30\00:14:29.13 of women that served in the role of a prophet, a prophetess. 00:14:29.16\00:14:33.54 We find that in the Old Testament--Deborah. 00:14:33.57\00:14:34.94 We also find in the New Testament. 00:14:34.97\00:14:36.44 So God has chosen different roles and different 00:14:36.47\00:14:38.91 responsibilities for people to serve. 00:14:38.94\00:14:41.08 That doesn't mean to say that a woman can't serve in ministry. 00:14:41.11\00:14:43.38 Matter of fact, they need to serve. 00:14:43.41\00:14:44.95 Everybody needs to be involved in ministry. 00:14:44.98\00:14:46.65 There are different areas of ministry, different 00:14:46.68\00:14:48.62 responsibilities that God has given, but when it comes to 00:14:48.65\00:14:52.75 pastoral ministry or the role of an elder, if you look at the 00:14:52.79\00:14:55.59 description that's given in the Bible, that's something that God 00:14:55.62\00:14:58.53 has chosen to really place on the shoulders of the man 00:14:58.56\00:15:01.73 as the leader in the home, as the leader in the church. 00:15:01.76\00:15:04.80 That's the role that God has given. 00:15:04.83\00:15:07.20 So there's a biblical answer. 00:15:07.24\00:15:08.97 You know, we do have a book called "Women in Ministry," 00:15:09.00\00:15:11.37 and we'll be happy to send that to anyone who calls 00:15:11.41\00:15:13.41 and asks if you'd like to study more about this. 00:15:13.44\00:15:15.44 The number for that is 800-835-6747, 00:15:15.48\00:15:20.25 and you can just call and ask for that book written 00:15:20.28\00:15:21.78 by Pastor Doug. 00:15:21.82\00:15:23.02 It's called "Women in Ministry." 00:15:23.05\00:15:24.39 Carlos: Amen. 00:15:24.42\00:15:26.09 Next, we have Junith from Nevada. 00:15:26.12\00:15:28.29 Junith, welcome. 00:15:28.32\00:15:30.09 You are on the air. 00:15:30.13\00:15:31.83 Junith: Hello. 00:15:31.86\00:15:33.76 Hello, hi. 00:15:33.80\00:15:35.63 Pastors, good evening, a blessed one to you. 00:15:35.66\00:15:38.13 Can you hear me well? 00:15:38.17\00:15:39.47 Jean: We can hear you, yes. 00:15:39.50\00:15:40.94 Junith: Yes. 00:15:40.97\00:15:42.54 Yes, Pastor, I have a question on--related to Isaiah chapter 00:15:42.57\00:15:46.51 14, verse 13, where God meets with the angels of the outermost 00:15:46.54\00:15:53.01 side of the north. 00:15:53.05\00:15:55.52 Just, this is a mystery for me to understand. 00:15:55.55\00:16:00.22 Is this where doxology happens? 00:16:00.26\00:16:02.66 Or at the same time, also, when our guardian angel went their 00:16:02.69\00:16:07.66 way to the High Priest, Jesus, to reveal our prayers, can you 00:16:07.73\00:16:14.00 tell us the biblical perspective of the congregation 00:16:14.04\00:16:17.87 of the north? 00:16:17.91\00:16:19.11 Thank you. 00:16:19.14\00:16:20.44 Jean: You're wondering about that specific phrase there 00:16:20.48\00:16:22.31 in verse 13? 00:16:22.34\00:16:23.85 Says, "On the farthest sides of the north," 00:16:23.88\00:16:25.38 where Lucifer wanted to have his throne? 00:16:25.41\00:16:26.92 Junith: Yes. Jean: Okay, good question. 00:16:26.95\00:16:28.78 Let me read the whole verse for those who might not have their 00:16:28.82\00:16:30.52 Bible in front of them. 00:16:30.55\00:16:32.15 Isaiah chapter 14, verse 13--and this is really talking about 00:16:32.19\00:16:33.96 this rebellious angel, called Lucifer, and what brought 00:16:33.99\00:16:38.03 about his rebellion against God. 00:16:38.06\00:16:40.20 It says, "For you have said in your heart: 'I will ascend into 00:16:40.23\00:16:43.33 heaven, I'll exalt my throne above the stars of God. 00:16:43.37\00:16:46.13 I will also sit on the mount of the congregation 00:16:46.17\00:16:49.04 on the farthest sides of the north.'" 00:16:49.07\00:16:51.74 Verse 14, "I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, 00:16:51.77\00:16:54.38 I will be like the Most High." 00:16:54.41\00:16:56.14 So this is Lucifer there in heaven, and this part about 00:16:56.18\00:16:58.71 this war, you'll read about in Revelation chapter 12. 00:16:58.75\00:17:01.22 Now, what did it mean when he says, "On the farthest sides of 00:17:01.25\00:17:04.59 the north, I will sit on the mount of the congregation"? 00:17:04.62\00:17:06.82 "The farthest side of the north," it's interesting. 00:17:06.86\00:17:09.29 There is a historical application. 00:17:09.32\00:17:11.56 You read about this in Ezekiel 28, verse 16. 00:17:11.59\00:17:14.30 "The farthest side of the north" was a reference to Mount Zion. 00:17:14.36\00:17:17.93 Mount Zion, upon which Jerusalem was built and, 00:17:17.97\00:17:21.17 more specifically, the temple was built, serves as a type of 00:17:21.20\00:17:25.14 the heavenly throne room or where the heavenly temple is. 00:17:25.17\00:17:29.38 You'll find the Bible talking about a heavenly temple being 00:17:29.41\00:17:32.58 built in Hebrews. 00:17:32.61\00:17:34.02 And so the devil wanted a position in the very 00:17:34.05\00:17:36.32 presence--he wanted to take the throne of God. 00:17:36.35\00:17:38.69 He wanted to be in the temple, in the Most Holy Place. 00:17:38.72\00:17:41.46 Talk about the sides of the north, Mount Zion, he wanted to 00:17:41.49\00:17:44.73 actually receive the worship of the angels, and this brought 00:17:44.76\00:17:47.60 about this rebellion that we read about in Revelation 12. 00:17:47.60\00:17:50.03 Carlos: Yeah, Psalms 48, verses 1 and 2, clearly shows 00:17:50.07\00:17:53.77 that "sides of the north" is Mount Zion. 00:17:53.80\00:17:56.50 Jean: It's Mount Zion. Carlos: Yup. 00:17:56.54\00:17:58.11 Jean: Absolutely. Good. 00:17:58.14\00:17:59.74 We do have a study guide that talks about the origin of evil, 00:17:59.77\00:18:01.68 and it's called "Did God Create the Devil?" 00:18:01.71\00:18:04.01 Where did the devil come from? 00:18:04.05\00:18:05.68 We'll be happy to send it to anyone who calls and asks. 00:18:05.71\00:18:08.05 Carlos: 1-800-835-6747, or dial "#250" 00:18:08.08\00:18:12.05 and ask for "Bible Answers Live!" 00:18:12.09\00:18:14.56 Next, we have Jeffrey from Washington. 00:18:14.59\00:18:17.03 Jeffrey, welcome to "Bible Answers Live." 00:18:17.06\00:18:19.63 Jeffrey: Good evening, Pastor Jean, Pastor Carlos. 00:18:19.66\00:18:24.10 Thank you for taking my call. 00:18:24.13\00:18:25.70 Jean: You're welcome. 00:18:25.73\00:18:27.27 Thanks for calling, Jeffrey. 00:18:27.30\00:18:29.44 Jeffrey: I see in the Bible that it's fairly clear to me 00:18:29.47\00:18:32.41 that God is on trial, mentioned in Revelation, at least, 00:18:32.44\00:18:37.11 and Satan is doing the accusing, from what I understand, and 00:18:37.15\00:18:41.68 I hear people say that one of Satan's claims or accusations 00:18:41.72\00:18:46.29 is that it is impossible for humans to obey God or God's law. 00:18:46.32\00:18:52.16 Do you see anywhere in the Bible that suggests that Satan 00:18:52.19\00:18:56.70 is making that accusation? 00:18:56.73\00:18:58.40 I'm hoping you guys can help. 00:18:58.43\00:19:00.57 Jean: Okay, you know, one of the accusations that Satan 00:19:00.60\00:19:02.37 makes against God is that, you know, God is not fair. 00:19:02.40\00:19:04.17 God says He's a God of love, and if He's a God of love, 00:19:04.21\00:19:07.21 why does He require us to keep His Ten Commandments? 00:19:07.24\00:19:10.65 And, you know, probably you won't find anywhere in the Bible 00:19:10.68\00:19:14.88 where it says the devil is saying we can't keep God's 00:19:14.92\00:19:18.32 commandments, however, unfortunate it is, 00:19:18.35\00:19:21.49 there are many Christians that say that we can't 00:19:21.52\00:19:24.76 really keep God's commandments. 00:19:24.79\00:19:26.59 But, if you look at what the Bible says, the Bible is very 00:19:26.63\00:19:28.56 clear that, by the power of Christ, the Holy Spirit dwelling 00:19:28.60\00:19:31.70 within us, we can keep His commandments. 00:19:31.73\00:19:33.90 Matter of fact, Revelation chapter 12, verse 17, 00:19:33.94\00:19:36.57 describes God's people in the last days and says these are the 00:19:36.60\00:19:39.37 ones who keep the commandments of God, and they have 00:19:39.41\00:19:42.04 the testimony of Jesus. 00:19:42.08\00:19:43.61 Revelation 14:12, says they also have the faith of Jesus. 00:19:43.65\00:19:46.61 So when we have the faith of Jesus, 00:19:46.65\00:19:47.78 we're going to be able to keep the commandments of Jesus. 00:19:47.82\00:19:50.99 Why? 00:19:51.02\00:19:52.62 Because His law is written within our heart, 00:19:52.65\00:19:54.82 and that's the key. 00:19:54.86\00:19:56.86 An external obedience to the commandments based upon 00:19:56.89\00:19:59.69 our strength is an impossibility because Jesus said, 00:19:59.73\00:20:03.16 "Without Me, you can do nothing." 00:20:03.20\00:20:05.60 But with Him, He said all things are possible. 00:20:05.63\00:20:09.20 So there's no doubt that, with the Holy Spirit working within 00:20:09.24\00:20:11.64 us, if we are trusting in Him day by day, we can do those 00:20:11.67\00:20:14.28 things that, humanly speaking, on our own, trusting in our own 00:20:14.31\00:20:17.45 strength, we cannot do. 00:20:17.48\00:20:18.65 Are there examples of people in the Bible that kept 00:20:18.68\00:20:20.62 God's commandments? 00:20:20.65\00:20:22.25 Absolutely. 00:20:22.28\00:20:24.35 You've got examples of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, 00:20:24.39\00:20:26.02 on the plain of Dura, who refused to bow down and worship 00:20:26.05\00:20:27.79 the golden image because it was a violation--one of the 00:20:27.82\00:20:30.23 commandments. 00:20:30.26\00:20:31.83 You got Daniel that went into the lion's den because 00:20:31.86\00:20:33.90 he refused to violate God's commandments. 00:20:33.93\00:20:35.90 You've got Joseph, you've got Esther, you've got many other 00:20:35.93\00:20:40.34 examples in the Bible and, even in New Testament times, people 00:20:40.37\00:20:41.87 who are willing to lay down their life rather than violate 00:20:41.90\00:20:45.14 one of God's commandments. 00:20:45.17\00:20:46.54 So there's plenty of examples in Scripture and also just 00:20:46.57\00:20:49.84 the power of God working in the life of a person. 00:20:49.88\00:20:52.15 Carlos: Yeah, I think it's inferred what he's asking, and 00:20:52.18\00:20:54.62 you mentioned Revelation 12. 00:20:54.65\00:20:56.72 It says, in Revelation 12:10, that the devil is 00:20:56.75\00:21:00.22 accusing us day and night. 00:21:00.26\00:21:01.39 Jean: "The accuser of the brethren." 00:21:01.42\00:21:02.82 Carlos: And then it says, in 11, "but they overcame him 00:21:02.86\00:21:04.29 by the blood of the Lamb." 00:21:04.33\00:21:05.46 So I think that it could be inferred because then you 00:21:05.49\00:21:07.30 mentioned Revelation 17, where it says and 00:21:07.30\00:21:08.73 there they are, right? 00:21:08.76\00:21:10.17 They're living in harmony with God's law. 00:21:10.20\00:21:11.90 Jean: They're keeping His commandments. 00:21:11.93\00:21:13.23 Carlos: Yeah. Jean: Absolutely. 00:21:13.27\00:21:14.57 We do have a study guide that talks about 00:21:14.60\00:21:16.14 the Ten Commandments, and, again, the point about 00:21:16.17\00:21:18.31 the Ten Commandments, if it's just an external list of do's 00:21:18.34\00:21:21.48 and don'ts, it's not going to help us, but if it's our desire 00:21:21.51\00:21:25.01 to keep the law of God because we trust Him, we love Him, 00:21:25.05\00:21:28.22 we have faith in Him, His law is written within our hearts. 00:21:28.25\00:21:31.35 That's the New Covenant promise. 00:21:31.39\00:21:32.95 We have a study guide called "Written in Stone," and it's 00:21:32.99\00:21:35.46 about the Ten Commandments, but more importantly, how can we 00:21:35.49\00:21:37.93 apply the Ten Commandments in a living, vibrant way in our life? 00:21:37.96\00:21:41.03 Carlos: Amen, amen. We have Emily. 00:21:41.06\00:21:43.63 Welcome to "Bible Answers Live." 00:21:43.67\00:21:44.93 You're on the air. 00:21:44.97\00:21:46.77 Emily: Hello, so, my question is where exactly were the fallen 00:21:46.80\00:21:50.57 angels cast to when they were cast out of heaven? 00:21:50.61\00:21:53.21 The verses I'm looking at are 2 Peter 2:4 and Revelation 12:9, 00:21:53.24\00:21:58.01 where Peter seems to say that they were cast to Tartarus 00:21:58.05\00:22:02.52 or the abyss, and then Revelation 00:22:02.55\00:22:05.09 says they were cast to the earth. 00:22:05.12\00:22:07.12 Jean: Okay, good question. 00:22:07.16\00:22:08.52 So, you know, we go back to Revelation chapter 12. 00:22:08.56\00:22:10.19 I think it's one of the clearest passages that talk 00:22:10.23\00:22:12.66 about this rebellion in heaven. 00:22:12.69\00:22:14.23 Says, "There was war in heaven. 00:22:14.30\00:22:15.63 Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, 00:22:15.66\00:22:17.20 and the dragon and his angels fought." 00:22:17.23\00:22:18.90 And then it tells us the dragon is Satan. 00:22:18.93\00:22:20.87 And then it says, "place was found no longer for them 00:22:20.90\00:22:23.97 in heaven," and they were cast out of heaven. 00:22:24.01\00:22:25.64 So it appears from the context, in Revelation chapter 12, that 00:22:25.67\00:22:29.21 this war in heaven occurred sometime before the creation 00:22:29.24\00:22:32.35 of earth this rebellion took place. 00:22:32.38\00:22:34.58 A third of the angels joined Lucifer, became the devil, 00:22:34.62\00:22:39.02 in his rebellion against God, and the reason we know a third 00:22:39.05\00:22:41.22 did is because it says the devil was able to swoop a third 00:22:41.26\00:22:43.99 of the stars of heaven, and "stars" symbolize angels. 00:22:44.03\00:22:46.96 So a third of the angels joined this rebellion. 00:22:47.00\00:22:48.86 They were cast out of heaven. 00:22:48.90\00:22:50.27 It appears for a period of time, they kind of wandered through 00:22:50.30\00:22:52.47 the universe, trying to locate a place where 00:22:52.50\00:22:54.94 they could establish their kingdom. 00:22:54.97\00:22:56.91 Right around this time, God goes about creating the earth, 00:22:56.94\00:23:00.58 and he warns Adam and Eve because it's the tree of 00:23:00.61\00:23:03.65 the knowledge of good and evil, so evil already existed. 00:23:03.68\00:23:05.58 He warned them about this evil being and--but you know 00:23:05.61\00:23:10.85 the story how Eve ate of the fruit and gave--well, she took 00:23:10.89\00:23:15.22 it, ate, gave to Adam, and, well, then the devil claims the 00:23:15.26\00:23:16.93 earth is his, and the earth, from then on, served as sort of 00:23:16.96\00:23:18.96 the headquarters of the devil's dominion, 00:23:18.99\00:23:21.16 his kingdom here on the earth. 00:23:21.20\00:23:22.80 Jesus seems to endorse this when He speaks of the devil as being 00:23:22.83\00:23:26.00 the prince of this earth, but when Jesus died, 00:23:26.03\00:23:28.77 no longer is the devil now the representative of earth, 00:23:28.80\00:23:31.94 but Christ is the second Adam. 00:23:31.97\00:23:34.01 He took the place of the first Adam, who fell. 00:23:34.04\00:23:36.14 He now is the second Adam. 00:23:36.18\00:23:38.21 And, ultimately, the earth is going to be restored and 00:23:38.25\00:23:40.68 redeemed after the 1,000 years, and the devil and the sinners 00:23:40.72\00:23:45.32 are no more. 00:23:45.35\00:23:46.65 God creates a new heavens and a new earth. 00:23:46.69\00:23:48.96 So, when it says here in 2 Peter chapter 2, verse 14--or, yeah, 00:23:48.99\00:23:52.39 verse 4, rather, that the devil and his angels--cast them down 00:23:52.43\00:23:56.33 to hell, it's just a dark abyss. 00:23:56.36\00:23:59.30 It's not a burning place of torment. 00:23:59.33\00:24:01.07 It's the same type of idea of the bottomless pit that you read 00:24:01.10\00:24:04.34 about in Revelation chapter 20. 00:24:04.37\00:24:06.14 It's an emptiness. 00:24:06.17\00:24:07.31 It's a darkness that we're looking for, a place to kind of 00:24:07.34\00:24:09.44 establish as their own, and eventually, the earth became 00:24:09.48\00:24:12.05 that place because of sin. 00:24:12.08\00:24:13.65 Carlos: Yeah, and in Revelation 12, it does. 00:24:13.68\00:24:15.38 As you mentioned, they did come here to earth, which is where 00:24:15.42\00:24:18.55 they were able to--he's able to put a foothold, but Christ took 00:24:18.59\00:24:21.99 it away from him. 00:24:22.02\00:24:23.22 Jean: That's right. 00:24:23.26\00:24:24.56 That's why one of the temptations that came to Jesus 00:24:24.59\00:24:26.09 was the devil said, "If you bow down and worship me, I'll give 00:24:26.13\00:24:28.26 You the kingdoms of this earth." 00:24:28.30\00:24:29.80 Now, we might think, "Well, why was that a temptation?" 00:24:29.83\00:24:31.37 Well, because the devil claimed them as his, and he was saying 00:24:31.40\00:24:34.74 to Jesus, "Instead of having to go through the cross, I'll just 00:24:34.77\00:24:37.87 give it to you now," because that was a temptation 00:24:37.91\00:24:40.21 that came to Christ. 00:24:40.24\00:24:41.44 Good question. Thank you, Emily. 00:24:41.48\00:24:43.58 Carlos: Next, we have Jimmy from Texas. 00:24:43.61\00:24:44.91 Welcome, Jimmy. You're live. 00:24:44.95\00:24:47.48 Jimmy: Yes, sir. Can you hear me? 00:24:47.52\00:24:48.72 Jean: Yep. 00:24:48.75\00:24:50.09 Jimmy: Okay, my question is this. 00:24:50.12\00:24:51.62 A pastor once told me this before I left his church because 00:24:51.65\00:24:55.52 he was making way too many predictions that weren't exactly 00:24:55.56\00:24:59.26 coming true at all, but my question is this. 00:24:59.29\00:25:02.50 He told me that also one of the signs that a person hasn't 00:25:02.53\00:25:05.87 committed the unpardonable sin is they have 00:25:05.90\00:25:08.37 a desire to serve God. 00:25:08.40\00:25:10.17 Is this true, or is this false? 00:25:10.21\00:25:12.87 Jean: No, I think it's true. 00:25:12.91\00:25:14.38 You know, I think if there's an earnest desire, that's evidence 00:25:14.41\00:25:17.18 that the Holy Spirit is convicting 00:25:17.21\00:25:18.48 and speaking to the heart. 00:25:18.51\00:25:20.28 Now, you know, remorse is not necessarily evidence of 00:25:20.32\00:25:24.72 the Holy Spirit speaking because even Judas felt remorse after he 00:25:24.75\00:25:29.42 betrayed Christ, and he threw the money down to the temple 00:25:29.46\00:25:32.66 and said, "I betrayed innocent blood," but then he went out, 00:25:32.69\00:25:34.46 and he hanged himself. 00:25:34.46\00:25:35.66 He was lost. 00:25:35.70\00:25:37.30 But Peter, on the other hand, when he realized what he had 00:25:37.33\00:25:38.93 done, he wept bitterly, and he was forgiven. 00:25:38.97\00:25:41.10 So, when the Holy Spirit is convicting us and we are 00:25:41.14\00:25:44.11 following that conviction, if we are turning to God in 00:25:44.14\00:25:46.37 repentance, that's evidence the Holy Spirit is working on us. 00:25:46.41\00:25:49.44 If there is a turning away from truth and a hardening of our 00:25:49.48\00:25:53.15 heart and we don't want to do those things or we're turning 00:25:53.18\00:25:57.02 away from or rejecting the promptings of the Holy Spirit, 00:25:57.05\00:26:00.12 that's dangerous ground. 00:26:00.16\00:26:01.59 We don't want to be on that ground for long. 00:26:01.62\00:26:03.16 There does come a point where, if we reject the Holy Spirit, 00:26:03.19\00:26:05.63 the Holy Spirit withdraws his convicting power, and it's the 00:26:05.66\00:26:09.20 goodness of God that leads us to repentance, the Bible says, 00:26:09.23\00:26:12.07 so without that convicting Spirit, we can reach that point 00:26:12.10\00:26:15.50 of repentance. 00:26:15.54\00:26:16.71 So the Bible says, "Repent." 00:26:16.74\00:26:19.17 You know, when you hear that voice, "Today is the day of your 00:26:19.21\00:26:21.78 salvation," don't wait another day for stronger impulses 00:26:21.81\00:26:24.58 or stronger feelings. 00:26:24.61\00:26:26.11 Today, if you hear the Holy Spirit, respond. 00:26:26.15\00:26:28.92 Friends, the program is not over. 00:26:28.95\00:26:30.59 We're just going to take our mid-program break, and we'll be 00:26:30.62\00:26:32.32 back in just a few moments with Ross, and working the phones with me is Pastor-- 00:30:03.97\00:30:07.14 Carlos: Carlos Munoz. 00:30:07.17\00:30:08.84 Jean: That's right. Thank you, Carlos. 00:30:08.87\00:30:10.47 Carlos: Amen. Jean: Who's our next caller? 00:30:10.51\00:30:12.41 Carlos: We have Michael from Alabama. 00:30:12.44\00:30:14.08 Welcome, Michael. You're live on the air. 00:30:14.11\00:30:16.11 Michael: Good evening. Good evening. 00:30:16.14\00:30:17.78 Thank you tremendously for accepting my call. 00:30:17.81\00:30:20.25 This is a question I've tried to ask you for the past two weeks. 00:30:20.28\00:30:23.28 Now, because I have evidences for my--a lot of evidences for 00:30:23.32\00:30:27.66 my doubt, I'll take them one at a time over separate weeks to 00:30:27.69\00:30:34.36 make them more concise. 00:30:34.36\00:30:36.23 Basically, it's I have a tremendous problem with broad, 00:30:36.26\00:30:40.30 sweeping generalizations in the English language, in general, 00:30:40.34\00:30:44.44 and one of these--it really ticks me off when professing 00:30:44.47\00:30:48.14 Christians use this--is the term "Word of God." 00:30:48.18\00:30:51.91 "The Bible is the only Word. 00:30:51.95\00:30:54.05 The Bible is infallible and perfect." 00:30:54.08\00:30:56.25 Here's my--personally, I don't doubt the Holy Spirit absolutely 00:30:56.28\00:31:00.66 being behind the inspiration to the scriptural writers. 00:31:00.69\00:31:05.33 Jean: So, Michael, let me--Michael, let me ask you, are 00:31:05.36\00:31:08.86 you asking is it wrong to say, "the infallible Word of God" 00:31:08.90\00:31:12.77 or "the Word of God?" 00:31:12.80\00:31:14.44 Is that your question? 00:31:14.47\00:31:16.00 Michael: What I'm saying is they sound like they're putting 00:31:16.04\00:31:20.21 the guilt trip onto well-meaning Christian laypersons 00:31:20.24\00:31:26.45 who are still trying to find out and still, I wouldn't say, 00:31:26.48\00:31:30.62 "doubting," but especially the way televangelists and 00:31:30.65\00:31:33.86 also Protestant fundamentalists have misused specific verses. 00:31:33.89\00:31:38.93 Jean: Okay, just to clarify your question, so you're 00:31:38.96\00:31:40.96 saying we need to be careful with the way we use the phrase 00:31:40.96\00:31:44.20 "the Word of God" because maybe others don't believe 00:31:44.23\00:31:46.90 the Bible is the Word of God? 00:31:46.94\00:31:48.80 Michael: Oh, certainly people in other world religions don't. 00:31:48.84\00:31:53.74 I believe that it is inspired by the Holy Spirit, but here's 00:31:53.78\00:31:57.18 the first example: What if the Apocrypha, why it now-- 00:31:57.21\00:32:03.25 this is going to be a History Channel-type question. 00:32:03.28\00:32:05.95 Why aren't the Apocrypha and the Dead Sea Scrolls and books 00:32:05.99\00:32:10.89 that were excluded by rabbis and priests during the 400 silent 00:32:10.93\00:32:14.73 years from the Old Testament, also some gospels written down 00:32:14.76\00:32:18.80 by the remaining apostles who were themselves--what are they 00:32:18.83\00:32:23.14 called--eyewitness to Christ Jesus, why were they excluded 00:32:23.17\00:32:26.41 by the early church from the New Testament? 00:32:26.44\00:32:28.98 Jean: Okay, great question. 00:32:29.01\00:32:30.35 Michael: Why aren't those Holy Writ? 00:32:30.38\00:32:32.28 And I'll take my answer off here. 00:32:32.31\00:32:33.85 Thank you so much for answering. 00:32:33.88\00:32:35.62 Jean: Good question. 00:32:35.65\00:32:37.09 What about the other writings, especially the Apocrypha, 00:32:37.12\00:32:38.75 as you mentioned, Michael, in particular? 00:32:38.79\00:32:40.12 And there are some other writings that have come up 00:32:40.16\00:32:42.82 over the centuries and--for example, the book of Enoch. 00:32:42.86\00:32:45.79 Maybe some of you have heard of that. 00:32:45.83\00:32:47.30 And why is that not part of the Bible? 00:32:47.36\00:32:50.00 Well, when it comes to the Old Testament, the books that made 00:32:50.03\00:32:52.73 it into the Old Testament, you know, we're pretty sure on 00:32:52.77\00:32:55.84 those books, and the Dead Sea Scrolls are evidence of that. 00:32:55.87\00:32:59.11 Not all of the Dead Sea Scrolls were inspired writings. 00:32:59.14\00:33:02.71 A lot of it had to do with history during that 00:33:02.74\00:33:04.35 inter-Testament period. 00:33:04.38\00:33:06.65 It had to do with certain things and events 00:33:06.68\00:33:09.18 that were taking place in Israel. 00:33:09.22\00:33:10.99 But with reference to the books of Moses, the books of 00:33:11.02\00:33:13.59 the Old Testament prophets, they were validated, 00:33:13.62\00:33:16.26 all of the Old Testament books except for the book of Esther. 00:33:16.29\00:33:19.23 There's portions of those books that were found 00:33:19.26\00:33:21.60 in the Dead Sea Scrolls. 00:33:21.63\00:33:23.13 When it comes to the New Testament, in order to get your 00:33:23.16\00:33:25.23 book in the New Testament or recognized as part of the Bible, 00:33:25.27\00:33:29.67 there were some very specific tests that were applied. 00:33:29.70\00:33:33.34 Number one, you had to be an eyewitness of Christ. 00:33:33.38\00:33:36.78 The only exception to that is the apostle Paul. 00:33:36.81\00:33:39.45 Now, the apostle Paul, of course, he was alive at the time 00:33:39.48\00:33:42.02 of Christ, but he encountered Jesus in a very powerful way, 00:33:42.05\00:33:44.79 and it was recognized and accepted by the church 00:33:44.82\00:33:47.82 that he was called specifically by Jesus. 00:33:47.86\00:33:49.99 The other Bible writers were actually eyewitnesses 00:33:50.03\00:33:52.89 of events that occurred. 00:33:52.93\00:33:54.10 If the evidence or if the writing could not be validated 00:33:54.10\00:33:59.67 that this was a letter that had come from John or it come 00:33:59.70\00:34:03.87 from Paul, they didn't accept it. 00:34:03.91\00:34:07.11 It had to be a letter that was accepted by multiple churches, 00:34:07.14\00:34:12.01 early Christian churches. 00:34:12.05\00:34:13.85 So those are some of the criteria that were used. 00:34:13.88\00:34:16.42 It doesn't mean that God doesn't inspire other aspects of writing 00:34:16.45\00:34:20.56 or truth, but specifically, that's the criteria that was 00:34:20.59\00:34:24.09 used to make it into the Bible, and we believe all of the Bible 00:34:24.13\00:34:26.70 is inspired. 00:34:26.73\00:34:28.30 Carlos: And, also, some of those books, 00:34:28.33\00:34:29.80 there are contradictions which is why they're not-- 00:34:29.83\00:34:31.37 Jean: Yeah, they contradict the Bible, 00:34:31.40\00:34:32.67 then they excluded them as well. 00:34:32.70\00:34:34.07 That's a good point. Carlos: All right. 00:34:34.10\00:34:35.87 Jean: We do have a book called "The Ultimate Resource." 00:34:35.90\00:34:37.67 I was just thinking of that. 00:34:37.71\00:34:39.31 It's all about the Bible. 00:34:39.34\00:34:40.68 Want to learn more about where the Bible came from and how do 00:34:40.71\00:34:42.68 we read and study the Bible? 00:34:42.71\00:34:43.88 Just call and ask. The number is 800-835-6747. 00:34:43.91\00:34:47.38 Ask for that book, called "The Ultimate Resource." 00:34:47.42\00:34:49.82 Carlos: Yes, so you can dial "#250" on your mobile phone, 00:34:49.85\00:34:51.82 and say, "Bible Answers Live!" 00:34:51.85\00:34:53.22 Next, we have Glen from Ohio. 00:34:53.25\00:34:55.82 Welcome, Glen, to "Bible Answers Live." 00:34:55.86\00:34:59.29 Glenn: Yes, well, good evening from Bethel, Ohio, 00:34:59.33\00:35:01.33 pastors, and thank you for taking my call. 00:35:01.36\00:35:03.37 Carlos: Amen. 00:35:03.40\00:35:04.87 Jean: Yes, you're welcome, Glenn. 00:35:04.90\00:35:06.67 Glenn: When Paul wrote a letter to the Philippians, he 00:35:06.70\00:35:09.04 put in there that "every knee shall bow and every tongue 00:35:09.07\00:35:12.14 confess that Jesus is Lord." 00:35:12.17\00:35:14.28 When will that take place, and what would be the method 00:35:14.31\00:35:16.98 of confession? 00:35:17.01\00:35:18.41 Jean: Okay, good question. 00:35:18.45\00:35:19.91 Well, first of all, we know that that's not going to happen until 00:35:19.95\00:35:21.72 after the Second Coming of Christ. 00:35:21.75\00:35:24.09 Let me explain. 00:35:24.12\00:35:25.42 So, according to the Bible, we know that things go from bad 00:35:25.45\00:35:28.12 to worse until Jesus comes. 00:35:28.16\00:35:29.96 Eventually, there is a death sentence passed prior to the 00:35:29.99\00:35:32.76 Second Coming of Christ. 00:35:32.79\00:35:34.30 The Bible speaks of a great showdown that occurs. 00:35:34.36\00:35:36.70 Jesus comes the second time. 00:35:36.73\00:35:38.73 The wicked are destroyed at the brightness of His coming. 00:35:38.77\00:35:41.64 The righteous are resurrected, who are dead, and the living are 00:35:41.67\00:35:45.64 changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, 00:35:45.67\00:35:48.11 and they are caught up to meet Jesus in the air. 00:35:48.14\00:35:50.55 The redeemed will then go to heaven for a thousand years. 00:35:50.58\00:35:53.48 The earth is left desolate during that 1,000-year period. 00:35:53.52\00:35:56.62 You read about that in Revelation chapter 20. 00:35:56.65\00:35:58.79 Then, at the end of the thousand years, Revelation 21 talks about 00:35:58.82\00:36:02.26 the New Jerusalem coming down from God out of heaven. 00:36:02.29\00:36:04.63 The redeemed come in that golden city. 00:36:04.66\00:36:07.66 Christ is there. 00:36:07.73\00:36:08.90 Then it is that all the wicked are resurrected for what the 00:36:08.93\00:36:10.53 Bible calls the great white throne judgment. 00:36:10.57\00:36:13.37 Again, this is Revelation chapter 20. 00:36:13.40\00:36:15.40 At the end of that judgment, just with the evidence that's 00:36:15.44\00:36:19.54 been presented, every knee will bow and every tongue 00:36:19.57\00:36:22.51 will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. 00:36:22.54\00:36:24.91 Even the wicked, even the devil himself will acknowledge that 00:36:24.95\00:36:27.92 God is true and that He has done everything He can 00:36:27.95\00:36:31.39 to save mankind. 00:36:31.42\00:36:32.62 Now, this acknowledgment is not out of genuine repentance. 00:36:32.65\00:36:36.02 This is just an acknowledgement of the evidence. 00:36:36.06\00:36:38.79 The evidence has been presented. 00:36:38.83\00:36:40.43 It's overwhelming, and they say, "Yes, it's true," because no 00:36:40.46\00:36:44.03 sooner do they confess, then it says that the devil is able to 00:36:44.07\00:36:48.00 deceive them, and they mount the attack upon the New Jerusalem, 00:36:48.04\00:36:51.27 Revelation chapter 20, and fire comes down from God out of 00:36:51.31\00:36:53.78 heaven and devours them. 00:36:53.81\00:36:55.74 And then He creates a new heavens and a new earth wherein 00:36:55.78\00:36:58.58 dwells righteousness. 00:36:58.61\00:37:00.82 So it occurs at the end of that 1,000-year period, 00:37:00.85\00:37:03.82 known as the millennium, and you read all about that 00:37:03.85\00:37:05.82 in Revelation chapter 20. 00:37:05.85\00:37:07.32 And we do have a study guide that talks about this. 00:37:07.36\00:37:09.49 It's called "1000 Years of Peace," and for anyone 00:37:09.52\00:37:11.99 wanting to learn more about this, just call and ask. 00:37:12.03\00:37:13.70 It's a very interesting study, Revelation 20. 00:37:13.73\00:37:16.60 The number again is 800-835-6747, 00:37:16.63\00:37:20.17 and ask for that study guide. 00:37:20.20\00:37:21.74 It's called "1000 Years of Peace. 00:37:21.77\00:37:24.11 Carlos: All right, thank you very much. 00:37:24.14\00:37:25.97 Next, we have Mark from Oregon. 00:37:26.01\00:37:27.61 You're live on the air. 00:37:27.64\00:37:29.94 Mark: Hey, praise God for the way he works through you guys. 00:37:29.98\00:37:35.35 My question is about the Holy Spirit. 00:37:35.38\00:37:39.69 I have a friend. 00:37:39.72\00:37:41.69 We speak about the Bible often, and I was just--his point of 00:37:41.72\00:37:46.66 view is that the Holy Spirit has a female quality to it 00:37:46.70\00:37:51.03 in the Bible. 00:37:51.07\00:37:52.80 Can you help me understand what the Bible 00:37:52.83\00:37:54.60 says about that, if any? 00:37:54.64\00:37:56.84 Jean: All right. 00:37:56.87\00:37:58.44 Well, when it comes to male and female, the Bible says, 00:37:58.47\00:38:00.41 "God created them male and female, and He created them 00:38:00.44\00:38:03.21 in His image." 00:38:03.24\00:38:05.21 So there are aspects of the male, and there are aspects of 00:38:05.25\00:38:08.72 the female, as far as character goes, 00:38:08.75\00:38:11.09 that reflect the character of God. 00:38:11.12\00:38:14.79 So God is the protector, and you might think of that when you 00:38:14.82\00:38:17.36 think of the man. 00:38:17.39\00:38:18.89 He's the protector. 00:38:18.93\00:38:20.20 He's the provider for the family. 00:38:20.23\00:38:22.00 You think of the woman, you think of the mother, 00:38:22.03\00:38:23.73 she's the nurturer. 00:38:23.77\00:38:25.17 She's the one that takes care of the needs and is sensitive to 00:38:25.20\00:38:29.00 the needs of the family. 00:38:29.04\00:38:31.14 Those qualities are both seen in the Creator, the Father, 00:38:31.17\00:38:35.28 the Son, and the Holy Spirit. 00:38:35.31\00:38:37.88 Now, it's true that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, they have 00:38:37.91\00:38:40.95 different roles when it comes to the plan of redemption. 00:38:40.98\00:38:42.85 Jesus is the one that came to the earth. 00:38:42.88\00:38:44.59 He gave His life as a sacrifice for sin. 00:38:44.62\00:38:46.15 He rose from the dead. 00:38:46.19\00:38:47.59 God the Father presides as the great judge. 00:38:47.62\00:38:50.06 Jesus is also judge. 00:38:50.09\00:38:51.93 The Holy Spirit is our intercessor, bringing our 00:38:51.96\00:38:54.46 prayers before the Father. 00:38:54.50\00:38:56.03 And Christ is also our mediator and our intercessor, 00:38:56.06\00:38:58.57 our High Priest. 00:38:58.60\00:38:59.80 So all of them have different roles in this great work of 00:38:59.83\00:39:02.74 judgment, but they all share the qualities of Deity. 00:39:02.77\00:39:05.67 They're all God. 00:39:05.71\00:39:07.41 They all have those characteristics that we find, 00:39:07.44\00:39:09.88 so I wouldn't say that one leans more to the one side 00:39:09.91\00:39:13.52 of characteristics or the other. 00:39:13.55\00:39:15.38 God is love. 00:39:15.42\00:39:16.99 And, you know, even in the--well, probably in the 00:39:17.02\00:39:20.62 Christian world in many different churches, people have 00:39:20.66\00:39:22.46 the idea of the God of the Old Testament as being 00:39:22.49\00:39:24.43 an "angry God"; the God of the New Testament, Jesus, 00:39:24.46\00:39:26.96 being a more kind and loving God. 00:39:27.00\00:39:28.83 Carlos: Merciful, yeah. 00:39:28.86\00:39:30.20 Jean: Well, Jesus Himself said, "Fear not, 00:39:30.23\00:39:32.27 for the Father loves you." 00:39:32.30\00:39:33.84 So Jesus said, "He who has seen Me has seen the Father." 00:39:33.87\00:39:37.41 If you want to see what God the Father is like, look at Jesus. 00:39:37.44\00:39:40.21 So there's no difference between the qualities of kindness and 00:39:40.24\00:39:43.68 love and mercy and grace that you see manifest in Christ. 00:39:43.71\00:39:46.85 It's there in the Father, and it's also manifested in the work 00:39:46.88\00:39:50.19 that the Holy Spirit does in drawing us to Jesus. 00:39:50.22\00:39:52.72 Carlos: Yeah, you know, just for that point, I had somebody 00:39:52.75\00:39:55.36 one time tell me that the Holy Spirit was a--was female, and 00:39:55.39\00:39:58.36 I said, "Well, that's interesting because, in Luke 00:39:58.39\00:40:00.23 chapter 1, it says that the Holy Spirit was the one that 00:40:00.26\00:40:02.86 put the seed in Mary, so how could you be female? 00:40:02.90\00:40:05.87 Never asked me that question again. 00:40:05.90\00:40:08.27 Jean: Well, of course, the Bible also refers to 00:40:08.30\00:40:09.94 the Holy Spirit as "When He, the Comforter, comes," 00:40:09.97\00:40:11.74 the masculine form so-- 00:40:11.77\00:40:13.78 Carlos: It transcends, right? Jean: It does, yup. 00:40:13.81\00:40:16.34 Carlos: Amen. Jean: All right, thank you. 00:40:16.38\00:40:17.65 Who's next? 00:40:17.68\00:40:19.31 Carlos: Next, we have Kereace from Washington. 00:40:19.35\00:40:21.52 Welcome to "Bible Answers Live." 00:40:21.55\00:40:23.62 Kereace: Hello, good night. Thanks for taking my call. 00:40:23.65\00:40:26.86 I'm just asking you guys, please, if you could summarize 00:40:26.89\00:40:30.16 Romans chapter 14, verses 17 to 21, if you guys could please 00:40:30.19\00:40:35.60 explain for me, Okay, thank you. 00:40:35.63\00:40:37.73 Jean: Yeah, absolutely. Thank you, Let me read it. 00:40:37.77\00:40:39.37 It says, "For the kingdom of God is not eating or drinking, but 00:40:39.40\00:40:41.40 righteousness, peace, and the joy of the Holy Spirit. 00:40:41.44\00:40:44.11 For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to 00:40:44.14\00:40:48.58 God and approved by men. 00:40:48.61\00:40:50.08 Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace 00:40:50.11\00:40:53.52 and the things by which one may edify another. 00:40:53.55\00:40:56.02 Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. 00:40:56.05\00:40:59.35 All things indeed are pure, but it is evil for men 00:40:59.39\00:41:03.43 who eat with offense. 00:41:03.46\00:41:05.39 It is good neither to eat meat or drink wine or do anything 00:41:05.43\00:41:08.66 by which your brother stumbles or is offended or made weak." 00:41:08.70\00:41:14.54 So, Kereace, what specific about those verses are you wondering? 00:41:14.57\00:41:18.14 Kereace: "The kingdom of God is not eating and drinking." 00:41:18.17\00:41:23.08 What does that part really mean? 00:41:23.11\00:41:27.75 Jean: Okay, yeah, the point that Paul was addressing in 00:41:27.78\00:41:30.69 the early Christian church, remember, there were 00:41:30.72\00:41:32.19 both Jewish Christians; there were also Gentile Christians. 00:41:32.22\00:41:34.82 And part of the discussion that occurred had to do with food. 00:41:34.86\00:41:38.26 Now, it didn't have to do with whether food was clean, 00:41:38.29\00:41:42.40 meaning that it was clean meats or unclean meats. 00:41:42.43\00:41:45.07 It had to do with food that was offered or bought at the 00:41:45.10\00:41:48.14 marketplace, some of which might have been offered to an idol. 00:41:48.17\00:41:51.01 Paul says, you know, "Don't ask. 00:41:51.04\00:41:53.74 If it's clean meat and you're allowed to eat it, you know, go 00:41:53.78\00:41:56.34 ahead and buy it, but if you're going to offend your brother by 00:41:56.38\00:42:00.55 doing so, then don't do that." 00:42:00.58\00:42:02.35 So the point of unity that Paul is trying to bring, it's in the 00:42:02.38\00:42:05.42 church between the Gentiles, the Jewish believers. 00:42:05.45\00:42:08.62 He's bringing them together, and the points of dispute that had 00:42:08.66\00:42:11.89 to do with eating and drinking, he was trying to harmonize. 00:42:11.93\00:42:14.60 There were also certain rituals that were put in place, 00:42:14.63\00:42:18.00 certain traditions that the Jews had that certain things 00:42:18.03\00:42:21.30 couldn't be eaten on certain days. 00:42:21.34\00:42:22.84 Certain things could be. 00:42:22.87\00:42:24.54 There were certain feasts associated with the ceremonial 00:42:24.57\00:42:27.48 law, and that became a point of controversy in the Christian 00:42:27.51\00:42:29.88 church, and Paul is saying, "We don't want to make 00:42:29.91\00:42:31.58 these things a point of controversy." 00:42:31.61\00:42:34.92 He wasn't saying that we can just eat anything we want 00:42:34.95\00:42:38.59 because, obviously, the Bible tells us, Paul tells us that 00:42:38.62\00:42:41.19 our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, and we 00:42:41.22\00:42:43.36 want to present ourselves a living, holy sanctuary 00:42:43.39\00:42:47.03 for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. 00:42:47.10\00:42:48.73 But that was the issue specifically that he was 00:42:48.76\00:42:51.50 addressing was the controversy that was brewing in the early 00:42:51.53\00:42:54.47 church between some of the ceremonial laws as the Jews 00:42:54.50\00:42:57.74 applied it and the Gentiles as it had to do with food and 00:42:57.77\00:43:01.41 certain sacrifices and so on. 00:43:01.44\00:43:03.58 Carlos: Yeah, thinking that an important point is that, when 00:43:03.61\00:43:05.11 Paul or Peter talk about food, they can't be talking about 00:43:05.15\00:43:08.52 unclean meats because that's not food for them. 00:43:08.55\00:43:10.79 Jean: That's right. 00:43:10.82\00:43:12.09 Carlos: And so that's a very, 00:43:12.12\00:43:13.62 very basic way of looking at it too. 00:43:13.66\00:43:15.22 Jean: It had to do with certain foods associated with 00:43:15.26\00:43:16.79 the ceremonial law. 00:43:16.83\00:43:18.13 Carlos: Exactly. Jean: Absolutely. 00:43:18.16\00:43:19.76 All right, thank you, Kereace. 00:43:19.79\00:43:21.10 Carlos: Next, we have Daniel from my neck 00:43:21.13\00:43:22.63 of the woods in Puerto Rico. 00:43:22.66\00:43:23.80 Welcome, Daniel. 00:43:23.83\00:43:26.43 Daniel: Hello, good evening. 00:43:26.47\00:43:27.87 Thank you for taking my call. 00:43:27.90\00:43:30.04 My question is I've heard about--yesterday, I was with 00:43:30.07\00:43:37.21 somebody, and she started telling me about 00:43:37.25\00:43:39.91 the New World Order. 00:43:39.95\00:43:44.09 I think that's the correct way to say it in English. 00:43:44.12\00:43:46.99 Carlos: Mm-hmm. 00:43:47.02\00:43:49.16 Daniel: And she was saying some things that are going to be 00:43:49.19\00:43:52.53 in that order, like the money is going to be digital now, the 00:43:52.56\00:43:56.83 government is going to be taking money from us if we don't behave 00:43:56.87\00:43:59.33 well and that we can only be outside of the house for certain 00:43:59.37\00:44:02.84 amount of time. 00:44:02.87\00:44:04.81 And, in my mind, I was thinking, "But I thought that the Bible 00:44:04.84\00:44:07.38 said that there was going to be no more world government, which, 00:44:07.41\00:44:11.15 in that case, how can there be a New World Order? 00:44:11.18\00:44:14.65 Jean: Okay, yeah-- 00:44:14.68\00:44:17.02 Daniel: Does the Bible talk about that? 00:44:17.05\00:44:18.65 Jean: Yeah, it does. 00:44:18.69\00:44:20.29 Now, the Bible does say that, you know, when it talks about 00:44:20.32\00:44:22.96 end-time events, "All the world marveled 00:44:22.99\00:44:24.43 and wondered after the beast." 00:44:24.46\00:44:25.96 Now, that doesn't mean that there's going to be one world 00:44:25.99\00:44:27.50 government, meaning that we're not going to have individual 00:44:27.56\00:44:29.93 countries or individual states, but they will be united in 00:44:29.96\00:44:33.47 the last days in the support of the beast power, 00:44:33.50\00:44:37.11 Revelation chapter 13. 00:44:37.14\00:44:38.81 All the world will be brought under its control. 00:44:38.84\00:44:42.04 So you'll have different countries, you'll have separate 00:44:42.08\00:44:45.58 nations, but they will all support an agenda that'll 00:44:45.61\00:44:49.42 come outside of--or there'll be united in that agenda, 00:44:49.45\00:44:52.89 and I'll give you a couple examples. 00:44:52.92\00:44:54.79 For example, we've got movements now, an international movement 00:44:54.82\00:44:58.26 under the climate change, certain international laws or 00:44:58.29\00:45:03.60 requirements that different nations need to sign on certain 00:45:03.63\00:45:08.37 reductions in emission, and you know the story. 00:45:08.40\00:45:10.11 There is almost a governing power of nations that is putting 00:45:10.14\00:45:13.58 pressure on other countries to go certain ways, and if a 00:45:13.61\00:45:16.58 country refuses to go along with certain laws at the end of time, 00:45:16.61\00:45:20.15 the Bible says they're not going to be able to buy and sell. 00:45:20.18\00:45:23.02 So you have economic sanctions that are going to come 00:45:23.05\00:45:25.65 into play at the end of time. 00:45:25.69\00:45:27.22 So you'll still have the individual countries, but 00:45:27.26\00:45:29.66 they'll all be working together towards this common goal 00:45:29.69\00:45:32.99 at the end. 00:45:33.03\00:45:34.30 Carlos: Yes, also Revelation 17 says that all the kings 00:45:34.30\00:45:36.70 of the earth, they fornicate, or they have this illicit 00:45:36.73\00:45:40.37 relationship with the Babylon, so that's that-- 00:45:40.40\00:45:43.47 Jean: Yeah, Babylon is a symbol of a religious power, 00:45:43.51\00:45:45.47 so you have church and state working together in this 00:45:45.51\00:45:48.54 alliance at the end of time. 00:45:48.58\00:45:49.84 Carlos: Yep. 00:45:49.88\00:45:51.08 Jean: All right, thank you, Daniel. 00:45:51.11\00:45:52.58 Carlos: Next, we have Henry from New York. 00:45:52.61\00:45:54.22 Welcome to "Bible Answers Live," Henry. 00:45:54.25\00:45:55.45 Henry: Yes, blessings to you. 00:45:55.48\00:45:58.29 My question is why did Israel get rid of royalty? 00:45:58.32\00:46:05.66 Jean: Okay, why did Israel get rid of royalty? 00:46:05.69\00:46:09.00 You must be referring to--are you talking about 00:46:09.03\00:46:11.13 after they were conquered by the Babylonians? 00:46:11.17\00:46:14.27 They never really did have a king. 00:46:14.30\00:46:15.87 They were always under some other country. 00:46:15.90\00:46:19.47 They did have certain degrees of authority, but they were under 00:46:19.51\00:46:24.05 Babylon or Medo-Persia or Greece or Rome, and, of course, it was 00:46:24.08\00:46:27.52 Rome that conquered Jerusalem and the temple in 70 A.D. 00:46:27.55\00:46:30.22 Today, Israel is sort of a democratic-style system 00:46:30.25\00:46:34.26 of government, where there is not a monarchy, 00:46:34.29\00:46:36.62 where they don't have a king. 00:46:36.66\00:46:38.33 The truth is that Jesus symbolically is the King, the 00:46:38.36\00:46:41.43 King of the Jews, but He's the King of the whole world, and He 00:46:41.46\00:46:43.67 did come in fulfillment through the seed of David, and He did 00:46:43.70\00:46:47.10 take spiritually the throne and established the kingdom 00:46:47.14\00:46:49.54 of grace, and soon, at the Second Coming, 00:46:49.57\00:46:52.67 He'll establish the kingdom of glory. 00:46:52.71\00:46:54.48 So, yeah, hopefully that helps Henry. 00:46:54.51\00:46:57.68 Carlos: Yeah, and God never did want a king anyway. 00:46:57.71\00:46:59.71 He wanted to be the King. 00:46:59.75\00:47:01.42 Carlos: He always wanted to be the King of Israel. 00:47:01.45\00:47:03.15 Carlos: Amen. 00:47:03.18\00:47:04.69 Next, we have Smyrna from California. 00:47:04.72\00:47:07.59 Welcome, Smyrna. You're on the air. 00:47:07.62\00:47:09.72 Smyrna: Hi, good evening, Pastor Ross, Pastor Munoz. 00:47:09.76\00:47:13.43 It is nice talking to you. I do have a question. 00:47:13.46\00:47:17.20 It comes actually from one of my brothers from church. 00:47:17.23\00:47:20.74 We were talking about Daniel and Revelation's book, 00:47:20.77\00:47:24.97 and we understand the 1260 and the 1290, but when we were 00:47:25.01\00:47:29.24 in Daniel 12:11-12, it comes at certain days. 00:47:29.28\00:47:34.08 It's the 1,335 days, and when we finished reading that, we were 00:47:34.12\00:47:41.19 not understanding where that came from or what does it mean, 00:47:41.22\00:47:45.79 so my question is what is that for, the 1,335 days? 00:47:45.83\00:47:50.90 What's the relation? Jean: Good question. 00:47:50.93\00:47:53.50 Now, this is a very deep question. 00:47:53.54\00:47:55.17 We find, in Daniel chapter 12, a series of time prophecies 00:47:55.20\00:47:58.44 that are given. 00:47:58.47\00:47:59.94 You've got the 1260, the 1290, and the 1335. 00:48:00.04\00:48:04.25 The key to understanding these various time prophecies is the 00:48:04.28\00:48:07.58 starting point, and the starting point has to do--verse 11, it 00:48:07.62\00:48:11.22 says, "And at the time that daily sacrifice is taken away, 00:48:11.25\00:48:13.52 and the abomination is set up--" 00:48:13.56\00:48:15.22 then it goes on to the 1,290 days. 00:48:15.26\00:48:18.99 Now, that, all of these different dates, the 1290, 00:48:19.03\00:48:23.26 the 1260, and the 1335, all are the same starting date, 00:48:23.30\00:48:26.53 and that starting date is 508, and the reason we say, "508," 00:48:26.57\00:48:30.34 is because, in 508, you have the conversion of Clovis, 00:48:30.37\00:48:33.78 king of the Franks, and the whole French nation, 00:48:33.81\00:48:36.61 in essence, became Catholic at that time. 00:48:36.64\00:48:38.81 That was key in providing the support for the papal power 00:48:38.85\00:48:42.25 to be fully established in 538. 00:48:42.28\00:48:46.59 So the 508 date is used as the starting point for both of that 00:48:46.62\00:48:50.59 1290 as well as the 1335. 00:48:50.63\00:48:53.66 Now, the 1290, starting in 508, brings you to 1798, and the 1335 00:48:53.70\00:48:59.87 brings you to 1843. 00:48:59.90\00:49:02.10 Significance of 1843 is, of course, the beginning of the 00:49:02.14\00:49:05.34 antitypical day of atonement, the heavenly judgment. 00:49:05.37\00:49:08.94 In Revelation chapter 14, "Fear God, give glory, 00:49:08.98\00:49:12.21 and the hour of judgment has come." 00:49:12.25\00:49:13.88 That's a whole study. 00:49:13.92\00:49:15.45 We don't have time to get into all the details of that, 00:49:15.48\00:49:17.25 but scholars have identified the 1335 as going 00:49:17.29\00:49:20.12 from 508 through until 1843. 00:49:20.16\00:49:22.76 Carlos: All right, very good. 00:49:22.79\00:49:24.69 Next, we have Trassan from New York. 00:49:24.73\00:49:27.66 You're on "Bible Answers Live." 00:49:27.73\00:49:29.46 Trassan: Yes, hi, Pastor. 00:49:29.50\00:49:31.50 Okay, so my concern is--the question that I want to ask you 00:49:31.53\00:49:35.07 is that, as a Christian, are you allowed to drink occasionally? 00:49:35.10\00:49:41.51 Jean: All right, should a Christian drink? 00:49:41.54\00:49:44.85 Well, you know, the Bible says that, in our times of ignorance, 00:49:44.88\00:49:48.25 God is winked at. 00:49:48.28\00:49:49.62 There were things that happened back in Bible times, 00:49:49.65\00:49:51.49 in the Old Testament, where it was not God's ideal will, 00:49:51.52\00:49:54.72 but the people didn't know any better. 00:49:54.76\00:49:56.62 For example, David had multiple wives. 00:49:56.66\00:49:58.86 Solomon had multiple wives. 00:49:58.89\00:50:00.60 Abraham had more than one wife. But now we know better. 00:50:00.63\00:50:02.30 Now we know it's a sin. It's clearer. 00:50:02.33\00:50:05.07 When it comes to drinking alcohol, I think, 00:50:05.10\00:50:08.04 as a Christian, we know the consequences of alcohol 00:50:08.07\00:50:11.81 and how it's destroyed families, how that it's not healthy. 00:50:11.84\00:50:16.61 It's got, you know, issues for the body. 00:50:16.64\00:50:19.21 We know that it's not the will of God that we, as Christians, 00:50:19.25\00:50:22.75 should drink, both by example and also for our health. 00:50:22.78\00:50:26.82 So should a Christian drink? I would say, no. 00:50:26.86\00:50:30.33 I think you want to set an example. 00:50:30.36\00:50:31.69 You want your body to be a tabernacle 00:50:31.73\00:50:33.36 or a temple for the Holy Spirit. 00:50:33.40\00:50:34.50 You want to be pure. You want to be holy. 00:50:34.56\00:50:36.06 You don't want anything to defile your body. 00:50:36.10\00:50:37.57 Now, that doesn't mean that everyone who drank in the past 00:50:37.60\00:50:39.93 are automatically condemned, but to those who know to do right 00:50:39.97\00:50:44.24 and don't do it, to them, it is sin, so I think, as Christians 00:50:44.27\00:50:47.81 today, based upon the evidence that we find in Scripture, 00:50:47.84\00:50:50.65 we don't want to drink any alcohol. 00:50:50.68\00:50:53.08 We want to be an example of faithfulness in all we do. 00:50:53.11\00:50:55.78 Carlos: Especially, when you drink, 00:50:55.82\00:50:57.35 your mind is not straight. 00:50:57.39\00:50:58.69 You're not thinking straight, and God wants us to be 00:50:58.72\00:51:00.66 morally on ground, solid ground. 00:51:00.69\00:51:03.43 Jean: Yeah, and the Bible says, Paul--we just read 00:51:03.46\00:51:05.36 the verse--he says we don't want to offend others by what we eat 00:51:05.39\00:51:07.76 or what we drink, so if we're drinking something that could be 00:51:07.83\00:51:09.86 a stumbling block to somebody else, 00:51:09.90\00:51:11.57 we as a Christian shouldn't do it. 00:51:11.60\00:51:13.27 You know, we do have a book. 00:51:13.30\00:51:14.64 It's called "Alcohol and the Christian," and we'll be happy 00:51:14.67\00:51:17.04 to send this to you, Trassan. 00:51:17.07\00:51:18.54 All you have to do is just call and ask. 00:51:18.57\00:51:21.01 The number is 800-835-6747. 00:51:21.04\00:51:23.68 Ask for the book. 00:51:23.71\00:51:25.01 It's called "Alcohol and the Christian." 00:51:25.05\00:51:26.45 We'll be happy to get it in the mail and send it to you. 00:51:26.48\00:51:28.35 Carlos: Yeah, or mobile phones, dial "#250," and say, 00:51:28.38\00:51:31.95 "Bible Answers Live!" 00:51:31.99\00:51:33.22 Next, we have Celesta from Indiana. 00:51:33.25\00:51:36.56 Welcome. You are on the air, sister. 00:51:36.59\00:51:39.16 Celesta: Thank you for taking my call. 00:51:39.19\00:51:41.63 My question is if a pig was raised on grain and healthy 00:51:41.66\00:51:50.87 food, is it still unsafe to eat? 00:51:50.91\00:51:55.51 Jean: That's a good question, Celesta. 00:51:55.54\00:51:57.31 Now, of course, remember, back in Bible times, pigs 00:51:57.35\00:51:59.21 were raised on organic things. 00:51:59.25\00:52:04.12 You know, they pretty healthy back then because 00:52:04.15\00:52:06.19 they didn't have all of the chemicals and the hormones 00:52:06.22\00:52:08.32 that you have today. 00:52:08.36\00:52:09.99 Now, of course, it makes it even worse when meat 00:52:10.03\00:52:12.56 is pumped full of hormones. 00:52:12.59\00:52:14.56 The reason God tells us not to eat pork isn't because of what 00:52:14.56\00:52:18.43 the animal ate, but it's because of the biology 00:52:18.47\00:52:21.10 of the actual animal itself. 00:52:21.14\00:52:23.54 Pigs have an amazing ability to retain high degrees of toxins 00:52:23.57\00:52:27.98 in their flesh, in their system. 00:52:28.01\00:52:30.58 Pigs can eat anything. 00:52:30.61\00:52:32.45 It is amazing what they can eat, and they don't get sick, 00:52:32.48\00:52:34.85 and they keep going. 00:52:34.88\00:52:36.18 They are, now, unhealthy. 00:52:36.22\00:52:37.42 They have high levels of fat, and the first meat that a doctor 00:52:37.45\00:52:40.26 will take somebody off, if they're having heart problems, 00:52:40.29\00:52:42.49 is pork. 00:52:42.52\00:52:44.23 So it's not so much what you feed the pig. 00:52:44.26\00:52:46.63 It's the biology of the pig itself that becomes so dangerous 00:52:46.66\00:52:49.70 because it does retain a high degree of toxins in its system 00:52:49.73\00:52:52.90 and a high degree of fat no matter what you feed it. 00:52:52.93\00:52:55.70 So according to the Bible, you want to stay away from pork. 00:52:55.74\00:52:58.67 It's an unclean animal. 00:52:58.71\00:53:00.51 Carlos: Yes, all right. 00:53:00.54\00:53:02.44 And Anthony from Michigan, welcome to "Bible Answers Live." 00:53:02.48\00:53:04.61 You're on the air. 00:53:04.65\00:53:06.35 Anthony: Hi, my question is--my father, he used to 00:53:06.38\00:53:11.22 encourage me to try to take God seriously, but now he himself 00:53:11.25\00:53:16.52 doesn't want anything to do with God. 00:53:16.56\00:53:19.03 And my mother--I'm not trying to judge, but she seems to 00:53:19.06\00:53:24.17 take it a little bit lightly. 00:53:24.20\00:53:26.13 And I want to honor my father and mother so that I can keep 00:53:26.17\00:53:29.00 both the Ten Commandments, but I don't know if until I see them 00:53:29.04\00:53:32.41 taking a relationship with God more seriously, would my efforts 00:53:32.44\00:53:36.75 be better spent trying to please God in other ways? 00:53:36.78\00:53:40.25 Jean: Well, you know, I think--a good question. 00:53:40.28\00:53:42.48 I think, first of all, we want to try and honor our parents 00:53:42.52\00:53:44.72 irrespective of whether or not they follow God. 00:53:44.75\00:53:48.99 I mean, just the fact that they're our parents, we want to 00:53:49.02\00:53:51.33 treat them with respect. 00:53:51.36\00:53:52.89 But having said that is, you know, God is our first parent, 00:53:52.93\00:53:56.20 and He needs to be first and foremost in our life. 00:53:56.23\00:53:58.50 We don't want to do those things to honor our parents that would 00:53:58.53\00:54:01.74 contradict honoring our heavenly Father, 00:54:01.77\00:54:04.01 so, you know, that's the priority. 00:54:04.04\00:54:05.81 But what can we do for our parents if they're not serious 00:54:05.84\00:54:08.54 about taking their Christianity or trusting in God? 00:54:08.58\00:54:11.71 We can pray for them. 00:54:11.75\00:54:13.88 We can be an example in the way we live. 00:54:13.92\00:54:16.05 We can't keep harassing them. 00:54:16.08\00:54:19.09 We need to respect them and let them make their own decision. 00:54:19.12\00:54:22.69 We can pray for them, try and be a good example, and when 00:54:22.72\00:54:25.66 the opportunity opens up, we could witness, but we can't 00:54:25.69\00:54:29.13 push our views on anyone, but we can pray for them. 00:54:29.16\00:54:33.40 At the same time, do everything you can to witness to others. 00:54:33.44\00:54:35.97 It's not one or the other. 00:54:36.00\00:54:37.21 It's both. 00:54:37.24\00:54:38.97 In everything we do, we try to be a positive example to others. 00:54:39.01\00:54:41.34 And, you know, Carlos, I know you were a opportunity to 00:54:41.38\00:54:44.35 witness to your parents, and you actually had the privilege of 00:54:44.38\00:54:47.45 baptizing your mom and your dad, so just through your example and 00:54:47.48\00:54:53.49 not pushing but being able to be a positive light, you were able 00:54:53.52\00:54:56.69 to make an impact upon their life. 00:54:56.73\00:54:58.46 Carlos: Amen, let them see Christ in you. 00:54:58.49\00:55:00.13 Jean: That's right. 00:55:00.16\00:55:01.70 Well, friends, we're coming up on our end of the program for 00:55:01.73\00:55:03.57 those who are listening on satellite radio. 00:55:03.60\00:55:05.57 For the rest of you, stand by. 00:55:05.60\00:55:06.90 We're going to take your email questions. 00:55:06.94\00:55:10.07 ¤¤¤ 00:55:10.11\00:55:12.11 announcer: Thank you for listening to today's broadcast. 00:55:12.14\00:55:14.61 We hope you understand your Bible even better than before. 00:55:14.64\00:55:18.08 "Bible Answers Live" is produced by Amazing Facts International, 00:55:18.11\00:55:22.42 a faith-based ministry located in Granite Bay, California. 00:55:22.45\00:55:26.02 Carlos: All right, we want to welcome you back to this special 00:55:28.19\00:55:29.96 bonus part that we have with email questions that have come 00:55:29.99\00:55:33.83 in, and so we'll do the rapid-fire email questions. 00:55:33.86\00:55:36.20 For Pastor Jean, "Jean, God created everything in the 00:55:36.23\00:55:39.83 universe, but who created God?" 00:55:39.87\00:55:41.74 Jean: Oh, that's the question we hear quite a bit, 00:55:41.77\00:55:43.17 "Where did God come from?" 00:55:43.20\00:55:44.71 The Bible doesn't tell us. 00:55:44.74\00:55:46.64 Matter of fact, the Bible says that God's ways 00:55:46.68\00:55:48.11 is higher than our ways. 00:55:48.14\00:55:49.84 The Bible says God is eternal, and "He has no beginning. 00:55:49.88\00:55:52.55 He has no end." We can't understand that. 00:55:52.58\00:55:54.82 We live in a realm of time. 00:55:54.85\00:55:56.48 We have a beginning. 00:55:56.52\00:55:57.65 We have an end. 00:55:57.69\00:55:58.89 Everything we know has a beginning and an end, 00:55:58.92\00:56:00.29 but God is not in our realm. 00:56:00.32\00:56:02.16 The Bible says he's eternal. 00:56:02.19\00:56:04.36 So those are the questions we'll probably need to ask 00:56:04.39\00:56:06.80 when we get to heaven, but the Bible doesn't tell us. 00:56:06.83\00:56:09.30 Carlos: All right. 00:56:09.33\00:56:10.67 Lindsay Inlet is asking, "Is Zachariah in the Old Testament, 00:56:10.70\00:56:12.63 the author of the book Zechariah, 00:56:12.67\00:56:14.80 the father of John the Baptist?" 00:56:14.84\00:56:16.17 Jean: No, they are two different people. 00:56:16.20\00:56:17.54 Zechariah was a popular name or at least 00:56:17.57\00:56:19.71 a more common Jewish name. 00:56:19.74\00:56:21.91 Zechariah, the father of John the Baptist, is not the same 00:56:21.94\00:56:24.98 Zechariah that wrote the book of Zechariah in the Old Testament. 00:56:25.01\00:56:28.42 Carlos: All right, another question, "God demanded 00:56:28.45\00:56:29.88 the Israelites to annihilate the occupants of pagan cities, 00:56:29.92\00:56:32.15 but what will be the fate of the children and babies 00:56:32.19\00:56:33.99 of those cities at the resurrection?" 00:56:34.02\00:56:35.72 Jean: Yes, what happens to those who died under 00:56:35.76\00:56:38.63 the age of accountability in these judgments that came? 00:56:38.66\00:56:41.33 I guess the same question could be asked 00:56:41.36\00:56:43.23 with reference to the children at the time of the flood. 00:56:43.26\00:56:45.27 When God destroyed, the flood, there were children, 00:56:45.30\00:56:47.40 young children, little babies. 00:56:47.44\00:56:48.70 Well, I think God's going to have to deal with those 00:56:48.74\00:56:50.91 individually as far as judgment. 00:56:50.94\00:56:53.11 He knows the end from the beginning. 00:56:53.14\00:56:54.98 What we do know is, for a believer, 00:56:55.01\00:56:57.18 if they lose their child, they have the hope of being 00:56:57.21\00:57:01.35 reunited with their child in the resurrection. 00:57:01.38\00:57:03.89 So, for a believer, if a child dies under the age of 00:57:03.92\00:57:07.69 accountability, or a baby, we have the hope of being reunited. 00:57:07.72\00:57:11.26 Carlos: All right, another question, "Are the 144,000 00:57:11.29\00:57:13.66 the only people saved when Jesus comes?" 00:57:13.70\00:57:16.03 Jean: Well, the Bible speaks about a group of people that 00:57:16.06\00:57:18.87 will be saved, when Jesus comes, who have the seal of God in 00:57:18.90\00:57:21.80 their foreheads. 00:57:21.84\00:57:23.04 It also talks about a great resurrection where people will 00:57:23.07\00:57:25.97 be from every multitude, nation, tribe, and tongue and people. 00:57:26.01\00:57:28.94 There will be a great group of people. 00:57:28.98\00:57:30.68 So the 144,000 represent God's end-time apostles, you might 00:57:30.71\00:57:34.92 say, who are, in a special way, doing a work for proclaiming 00:57:34.95\00:57:39.32 the three angels' messages at the end of time. 00:57:39.35\00:57:41.49 They symbolize those who will be translated when 00:57:41.52\00:57:43.79 Jesus comes a second time. 00:57:43.83\00:57:46.09 Carlos: All right, "What did Jesus mean when he 00:57:46.13\00:57:48.06 said that 'night is coming when no one can work'?" 00:57:48.10\00:57:50.40 Jean: Well, you know, now is the opportunity that we can work. 00:57:50.43\00:57:53.17 There is a time coming, the Bible says in Revelation 22, 00:57:53.20\00:57:56.27 where Jesus says, "He that is holy, let him be holy still. 00:57:56.30\00:57:58.94 He that is filthy, let him be filthy still." 00:57:58.97\00:58:00.88 Probation closes. 00:58:00.91\00:58:02.58 It's too late then. Now is the time for us to work. 00:58:02.61\00:58:05.75 Well, friends, you hear the sound of the music. 00:58:05.78\00:58:07.25 We are running out of time, but until next week, God bless. 00:58:07.28\00:58:10.52 ¤¤¤ 00:58:10.55\00:58:19.86 announcer: "Bible Answers Live," honest and accurate 00:58:19.89\00:58:23.06 answers to your Bible questions. 00:58:23.10\00:58:25.70 ¤¤¤ 00:58:25.73\00:58:28.17
