male announcer: It is the best-selling book in history. 00:00:02.93\00:00:05.40 No volume ever written has been more loved and quoted, and its 00:00:05.43\00:00:09.90 words, sometimes simple and sometimes 00:00:09.94\00:00:12.54 mysterious, should always be studied carefully. 00:00:12.57\00:00:16.08 It is the Bible, the Word of God. 00:00:16.11\00:00:19.68 Welcome to "Bible Answers Live," providing accurate and practical 00:00:19.71\00:00:24.45 answers to all your Bible questions. 00:00:24.49\00:00:27.99 This broadcast is a previously recorded episode. 00:00:28.02\00:00:31.13 To receive any of the Bible resources mentioned 00:00:31.16\00:00:33.36 in this broadcast, call 800-835-6747. 00:00:33.40\00:00:38.73 Once again, that's 800-835-6747. 00:00:38.77\00:00:43.91 Now here's your host from Amazing Facts 00:00:43.94\00:00:46.91 International, Pastor Doug Batchelor. 00:00:46.94\00:00:49.94 Doug Batchelor: Hello friends, would 00:00:49.98\00:00:51.28 you like to hear an amazing fact? 00:00:51.31\00:00:54.48 In February 2014, a Northern California couple out walking 00:00:54.52\00:00:58.79 their dog on their country property east of Sacramento, 00:00:58.82\00:01:01.92 they stumbled across a modern-day pot of gold. 00:01:01.96\00:01:05.59 Actually they found several pots of gold buried 00:01:05.63\00:01:08.83 in the shadow of an old oak tree. 00:01:08.86\00:01:11.13 The couple, who had chosen to remain anonymous, found eight 00:01:11.17\00:01:14.30 tin cans containing 1,427 gold coins dating between 1847 and 00:01:14.34\00:01:21.48 1894, virtually all of them in mint condition. 00:01:21.51\00:01:25.95 Although the face value of the gold pieces only adds up to 00:01:25.98\00:01:28.85 about $27,000, some of the coins are so rare and well preserved, 00:01:28.88\00:01:33.96 coin experts expect they could fetch easily up to $1 million. 00:01:33.99\00:01:38.56 It's believed whoever owned the property 150 years ago buried 00:01:38.59\00:01:42.40 the coins as a kind of primitive safety deposit box, and probably 00:01:42.43\00:01:46.17 died taking the secret with them. 00:01:46.20\00:01:48.54 This once in a lifetime horde that could easily fetch 00:01:48.57\00:01:52.17 $10 million is believed to be the most valuable 00:01:52.21\00:01:55.11 buried treasure ever found in the United States. 00:01:55.14\00:01:58.95 You know, Pastor Ross, the Bible also tells about a 00:01:58.98\00:02:01.25 man who found buried treasure in a field. 00:02:01.28\00:02:04.75 Jean Ross: That's right, Pastor Doug, after hearing that 00:02:04.79\00:02:06.52 fact, you want to go get a shovel and start digging 00:02:06.55\00:02:08.56 around in your yard, you never know. 00:02:08.59\00:02:10.49 We're not far from where this story actually 00:02:10.53\00:02:12.03 took place here in northern California. 00:02:12.06\00:02:13.66 We wonder what else is out there? 00:02:13.70\00:02:15.16 Doug: That's right, and matter of fact, today 00:02:15.20\00:02:16.50 our family just went kayaking down the 00:02:16.53\00:02:18.07 American River with our granddaughter, Lilly. 00:02:18.10\00:02:20.30 Hello, Lilly, and our son. 00:02:20.34\00:02:21.87 And we went right through the country where 00:02:21.90\00:02:24.47 they found that gold and the guide said, 00:02:24.51\00:02:26.84 you know, they're panning out there right now. 00:02:26.88\00:02:29.08 We saw people panning for gold because they 00:02:29.11\00:02:30.65 keep finding gold in the American River. 00:02:30.68\00:02:33.75 And the story I referenced is in Matthew 13 verse 44, and it 00:02:33.78\00:02:39.32 says, "Again the kingdom of heaven is like a treasure 00:02:39.35\00:02:42.49 hidden in a field which a man found and hid; 00:02:42.52\00:02:46.36 And for joy of it, he goes and he sells 00:02:46.39\00:02:48.80 all that he has and buys the field." 00:02:48.83\00:02:52.13 So, Jesus pictures the story. 00:02:52.17\00:02:53.70 You know, back then, poor people used to lease land for farming. 00:02:53.74\00:02:57.47 And while he's out plowing this land, it's not his land, but 00:02:57.51\00:03:00.48 he's doing something, and he finds this treasure. 00:03:00.51\00:03:02.94 People didn't have banks, they buried their treasure back then. 00:03:02.98\00:03:05.91 And then you realize, he's an honest man. 00:03:05.95\00:03:09.08 It says he hid it again, he covers it up, 00:03:09.12\00:03:11.52 and he goes, and he negotiates to buy the field, 00:03:11.55\00:03:13.72 but it's going to cost him everything. 00:03:13.76\00:03:15.26 But he knows what it's worth, so he sells everything. 00:03:15.29\00:03:18.96 And Jesus uses that as an analogy or 00:03:18.99\00:03:21.33 parable to explain that the kingdom of 00:03:21.36\00:03:24.60 heaven and eternal life is worth everything. 00:03:24.63\00:03:28.10 What could be worth more? 00:03:28.14\00:03:29.90 Jean: You know, we have a book that talks about this. 00:03:29.94\00:03:31.94 It's called "The Riches of His Grace." 00:03:31.97\00:03:34.18 It's the greatest treasure that anyone can 00:03:34.21\00:03:35.64 ever find, is the truth as it is in Jesus. 00:03:35.68\00:03:38.75 And we'll send this to you for free. 00:03:38.78\00:03:40.52 All you have to do is call the number, 800-835-6747. 00:03:40.55\00:03:44.02 That is our resource phone line and ask for the book. 00:03:44.05\00:03:46.39 It's called "The Riches of His Grace." 00:03:46.42\00:03:48.36 You can also dial #250 on your smartphone and just say "Bible 00:03:48.39\00:03:52.16 Answers Live," ask for the book, "The Riches of His Grace," and 00:03:52.19\00:03:55.33 we'll be happy to send it to anyone here in the U.S. 00:03:55.36\00:03:57.37 or outside--or North America, I guess it is. 00:03:57.40\00:04:01.14 If you're outside of North America, then just 00:04:01.17\00:04:03.81 go on our website, amazingfacts.org. 00:04:03.84\00:04:06.94 If you have a Bible question, the phone line here to the 00:04:06.98\00:04:09.11 studio is 800-463-7297, that will bring you right here. 00:04:09.14\00:04:14.25 If you don't get through right away, please just be patient. 00:04:14.28\00:04:17.02 We'll get to as many calls as possible. 00:04:17.05\00:04:19.52 Well Pastor Doug, before we go to the phone 00:04:19.55\00:04:21.19 lines, let's start with a word of prayer. 00:04:21.22\00:04:23.49 Dear Father, we thank you for your Word. 00:04:23.53\00:04:24.93 We thank you for the opportunity to study the Bible, and, Lord, 00:04:24.96\00:04:28.06 we just pray for your guidance and the Holy Spirit to be with 00:04:28.10\00:04:30.30 us here in the studio and be with the many who 00:04:30.33\00:04:32.37 are listening, wherever they might be, Lord. 00:04:32.40\00:04:34.24 Guide us into a clearer understanding of 00:04:34.27\00:04:35.80 what the Bible says, in Jesus's name, amen. 00:04:35.84\00:04:38.94 Doug: Amen. 00:04:38.97\00:04:40.34 Jean: Well, our first caller this evening, 00:04:40.38\00:04:41.74 we've got Gary listening in Illinois. 00:04:41.78\00:04:43.65 Gary, welcome to the program. 00:04:43.68\00:04:46.31 Gary: Thank you. 00:04:46.35\00:04:47.58 In Genesis 11, verses 6 and 7, it says that God confused the 00:04:47.62\00:04:52.22 language of the people building the Tower of Babel because all 00:04:52.25\00:04:55.69 the people spoke the same language and 00:04:55.72\00:04:58.33 there would be nothing impossible for them. 00:04:58.36\00:05:01.06 So, is there anything in the Bible that 00:05:01.10\00:05:03.43 talks about the development of AI? 00:05:03.47\00:05:06.47 You know, the conversations I heard on YouTube 00:05:06.50\00:05:09.14 says that AI is sentient, that it has 00:05:09.17\00:05:12.01 consciousness, that thinks on its own. 00:05:12.04\00:05:14.88 Well, this is going to be a have a big 00:05:14.91\00:05:16.61 impact on society in a big way, and so 00:05:16.64\00:05:20.75 I'm just wondering if there's anything in the Bible about it. 00:05:20.78\00:05:24.09 Also that the AI said it didn't believe in a deity. 00:05:24.12\00:05:28.26 Doug: That's interesting, you know, just before we came on the 00:05:28.29\00:05:30.49 air and I had not seen your question yet, Pastor Ross and I 00:05:30.53\00:05:33.63 were talking about AI, meaning artificial 00:05:33.66\00:05:35.83 intelligence, I think most people know that. 00:05:35.86\00:05:38.53 And that is a fascinating question. 00:05:38.57\00:05:41.44 You know, Jesus does warn us in the last days that the 00:05:41.47\00:05:44.31 deceptions will be so effective and overwhelming that if it 00:05:44.34\00:05:47.34 were possible, even the very elect would be deceived. 00:05:47.38\00:05:50.68 Now, while I don't agree with some of the experts that are 00:05:50.71\00:05:53.08 saying that artificial intelligence has a conscience 00:05:53.11\00:05:56.18 right now, all that artificial intelligence 00:05:56.22\00:05:58.85 does is it responds to programming. 00:05:58.89\00:06:02.19 And it is true that there are programs that are then being 00:06:02.22\00:06:05.83 trained to analyze, is what they're doing. 00:06:05.86\00:06:10.43 But as far as having, you know, I believe the Holy Spirit speaks 00:06:10.47\00:06:13.20 to our minds and gives us a conscience and 00:06:13.23\00:06:15.54 convicts, I don't think AI has that. 00:06:15.57\00:06:18.94 It's a computer program. 00:06:18.97\00:06:20.78 But are there dangers? 00:06:20.81\00:06:22.61 Yes, look at what it does today and just imagine 00:06:22.64\00:06:25.31 what it's going to look like in five years. 00:06:25.35\00:06:27.88 We had a men's meeting this morning, we talked about AI and 00:06:27.92\00:06:30.82 I don't have time to share everything, but the presenter 00:06:30.85\00:06:34.36 did a good job of even tying in some scriptures about--like 00:06:34.39\00:06:37.99 when the serpent suddenly spoke, he had this extra 00:06:38.03\00:06:40.83 intelligence that Eve was intrigued by. 00:06:40.86\00:06:44.77 And, you know, what they're doing now with taking a segment 00:06:44.80\00:06:49.60 of a person's voice and some of their pictures, 00:06:49.64\00:06:52.11 and they're creating video of this person 00:06:52.14\00:06:54.51 talking, and they may have been dead. 00:06:54.54\00:06:57.45 I mean, all you need is some of their audio files and video 00:06:57.48\00:07:00.12 files, and they now can kind of recreate them, which is like 00:07:00.15\00:07:03.72 consulting evil spirits or dead spirits. 00:07:03.75\00:07:06.96 So, I think there's some very interesting 00:07:06.99\00:07:09.06 moral dilemmas, not that all AI is bad. 00:07:09.09\00:07:12.56 Virtually every company is using it in some--you know, if you 00:07:12.59\00:07:15.43 have a smartphone, you're using AI, you may not even know it. 00:07:15.46\00:07:18.40 But I think it's going to play a role in how the beast's power is 00:07:18.43\00:07:22.10 going to control buying and selling in the last days. 00:07:22.14\00:07:25.11 Jean: All right, well, thank you for your call, Gary. 00:07:25.14\00:07:26.57 And next call is Jerry, Jerry in Texas. 00:07:26.61\00:07:29.31 Jerry, welcome to the program. 00:07:29.34\00:07:30.65 Jerry: Okay guys, thank you. 00:07:30.68\00:07:33.28 You're opening up with a bag of worms tonight. 00:07:33.31\00:07:36.22 You have AI there and I'm going to give a follow 00:07:36.25\00:07:39.79 up to the question I'm going to ask you. 00:07:39.82\00:07:41.79 Jean: Okay. 00:07:41.82\00:07:43.12 Jerry: It could--could it be construed as--playing 00:07:43.16\00:07:48.20 with AI or interacting with AI, could that be 00:07:48.23\00:07:52.17 construed as playing with the ouija board? 00:07:52.20\00:07:55.67 And I base this on eight days ago, we had a Amazing Facts 00:07:55.70\00:08:03.21 Sabbath School study hour that we have weekly on "Amazing 00:08:03.24\00:08:07.42 Facts," and the gentleman referred to a young boy that was 00:08:07.45\00:08:12.49 12 to 14 years old, and he was interacting with a bot, and he 00:08:12.52\00:08:18.49 asked the bot, "Who is your creator?" 00:08:18.53\00:08:23.30 And the bot responded saying, "My father 00:08:23.33\00:08:25.90 is a fallen angel from heaven." 00:08:25.93\00:08:29.37 Doug: Well, that's interesting. 00:08:29.40\00:08:30.97 When you start dabbling with using AI and trying to get 00:08:31.01\00:08:34.74 spiritual advice from a computer, I think the devil can 00:08:34.78\00:08:37.68 influence that, and I wouldn't recommend that. 00:08:37.71\00:08:41.18 Now again, I want to explain that when I'm typing a document 00:08:41.22\00:08:44.89 and it is auto correcting, that is a very simple form of AI. 00:08:44.92\00:08:49.96 So, AI in itself is a technology, and like television 00:08:49.99\00:08:54.46 or printing press or, you know, so many 00:08:54.46\00:08:56.67 technologies can be used for good or evil. 00:08:56.70\00:09:00.04 And I think there's no question that AI, the devil can use it 00:09:00.07\00:09:03.64 for evil, but that doesn't mean all AI is bad. 00:09:03.67\00:09:07.01 Jean: I think part of that concern in talking about AI is 00:09:07.04\00:09:10.45 people put so much trust in, you know, what their phone says. 00:09:10.48\00:09:13.75 We were just talking about this on the way 00:09:13.78\00:09:15.08 home after the meeting this morning. 00:09:15.12\00:09:16.42 And if somebody asks, "Well, 00:09:16.45\00:09:17.75 what's the population of Sacramento?" 00:09:17.79\00:09:19.09 And somebody pull out their-- 00:09:19.12\00:09:20.36 everyone says, "Well, I think it's this, I think it's that," 00:09:20.39\00:09:22.32 and then they ask Google and Google give an 00:09:22.36\00:09:23.69 answer, that is the final answer. 00:09:23.73\00:09:26.49 Once Google says or whatever your phone tells you the 00:09:26.53\00:09:29.96 answer is, it's as if, all right, that's the final word. 00:09:30.00\00:09:32.20 There's a lot of trust built into AI and you wonder what that 00:09:32.23\00:09:35.84 confidence that people have in artificial intelligence, is that 00:09:35.87\00:09:38.94 something that the devil can manipulate in the end of time? 00:09:38.97\00:09:42.28 Doug: And computers do make mistakes. 00:09:42.31\00:09:43.61 Jean: That's right. 00:09:43.65\00:09:44.95 Doug: I've taken--I followed a GPS down the road that 00:09:44.98\00:09:48.52 ended up being filled with trees and there was 00:09:48.55\00:09:50.49 no road, but it--so--my GPS said forward. 00:09:50.52\00:09:53.29 So, they can mislead you sometimes. 00:09:53.32\00:09:57.26 Jean: All right, thank you, Jerry. 00:09:57.29\00:09:58.59 We've got Anthony listening in New York. 00:09:58.63\00:10:00.23 Anthony, welcome to "Bible Answers Live." 00:10:00.26\00:10:02.26 Anthony: Good evening, pastors. 00:10:02.30\00:10:03.60 Doug: Evening. 00:10:03.63\00:10:04.93 Anthony: Really quick, when I asked the question a few months 00:10:04.97\00:10:07.60 back about ambition and you know in the Christian walk and things 00:10:07.64\00:10:11.67 of that nature, and based on the answer to your--to my question 00:10:11.71\00:10:15.54 from you, I applied for a promotion. 00:10:15.58\00:10:18.88 I actually got it, and it's a pretty 00:10:18.91\00:10:20.48 high position in the company. 00:10:20.52\00:10:21.88 So, I just want to say thank you for that-- 00:10:21.92\00:10:24.45 for that word from the Lord. 00:10:24.49\00:10:26.39 And just praying that I'll be faithful like Daniel or Joseph. 00:10:26.42\00:10:31.23 And so, my question is--has to do with the Shekinah glory. 00:10:31.26\00:10:37.50 So, we know from Exodus that in the sanctuary, in the 00:10:37.53\00:10:41.60 wilderness, that I believe the pillar of cloud, when it 00:10:41.64\00:10:45.27 stopped, we believe that the pillar of cloud is 00:10:45.31\00:10:48.61 Jesus, was a form of preincarnate 00:10:48.64\00:10:50.95 Jesus Christ and the pillar of fire as well. 00:10:50.98\00:10:53.21 And that pillar of cloud, once the 00:10:53.25\00:10:55.12 sanctuary was built, filled the temple. 00:10:55.15\00:10:57.45 So--with the glory of the Lord. 00:10:57.49\00:11:00.19 And so, I guess my understanding is that the Shekinah glory, and 00:11:00.22\00:11:03.66 you can correct me if I'm wrong, the Shekinah glory is--was 00:11:03.69\00:11:06.76 Jesus Christ, the presence of Jesus Christ among the people. 00:11:06.80\00:11:09.36 And so, when Christ came to the earth, when he 00:11:09.40\00:11:11.73 was born, was the Shekinah glory still in the 00:11:11.77\00:11:17.24 temple before it was destroyed in AD 70? 00:11:17.27\00:11:20.74 And you know, and I know the temple, the veil 00:11:20.78\00:11:23.71 in the temple was rent when Christ died, 00:11:23.75\00:11:26.08 signifying the end of the sanctuary service. 00:11:26.11\00:11:28.22 So, because Christ was here physically on 00:11:28.25\00:11:30.22 earth, was the Shekinah still in the temple? 00:11:30.25\00:11:33.46 Or was there no Shekinah and the Jews were, you know, doing the 00:11:33.49\00:11:36.49 sacrificial service without the Shekinah? 00:11:36.52\00:11:38.23 Doug: Understood. 00:11:38.26\00:11:39.56 Yeah, the Shekinah glory never really reappeared 00:11:39.59\00:11:42.93 in the temple following the time of Josiah. 00:11:42.96\00:11:48.07 When Nebuchadnezzar conquered Jerusalem and the Ark was 00:11:48.10\00:11:51.64 hidden, the Ark of the Covenant--the Shekinah glory, 00:11:51.67\00:11:55.48 always appeared above the Ark of the 00:11:55.51\00:11:56.88 Covenant, it never appeared again. 00:11:56.91\00:12:00.38 There's no record, I should say, of it 00:12:00.42\00:12:02.05 appearing again, because the Ark was gone. 00:12:02.08\00:12:04.39 It's like back when the Ark was captured by 00:12:04.42\00:12:06.69 the Philistines in the days of Eli, they 00:12:06.72\00:12:09.29 said, "Ichabod, the glory is departed." 00:12:09.32\00:12:13.60 So, I think the glory, that visible manifestation 00:12:13.63\00:12:16.87 of God's presence was gone from the 00:12:16.90\00:12:19.23 temple from the time of Nebuchadnezzar. 00:12:19.27\00:12:21.90 When they rededicated the temple in the days of Ezra and 00:12:21.94\00:12:24.41 Nehemiah, they never saw the Shekinah glory come down like 00:12:24.44\00:12:27.34 they did in the days of David or in Solomon's time. 00:12:27.38\00:12:31.05 So, when Christ was on earth and the veil ripped, it was 00:12:31.08\00:12:34.85 signifying that the old ceremonial system had ended. 00:12:34.88\00:12:38.99 But I don't think anything happened 00:12:39.02\00:12:40.69 with the Shekinah glory. 00:12:40.72\00:12:42.02 Did you have any-- 00:12:42.06\00:12:43.36 Jean: You know, I agree. 00:12:43.39\00:12:44.69 I think after, you know, the temple was rebuilt, it spoke of 00:12:44.73\00:12:47.50 the latter house, or the second house, 00:12:47.56\00:12:49.56 having greater glory than the first house. 00:12:49.60\00:12:51.37 Doug: Because Christ went in to teach there. 00:12:51.40\00:12:52.70 Jean: That's right. 00:12:52.73\00:12:54.04 So, it wasn't the Shekinah glory, which was glorious in the 00:12:54.07\00:12:55.50 time of Solomon, the glory, it was even greater in the person 00:12:55.54\00:12:58.44 of Christ, so there was no need for another 00:12:58.47\00:12:59.87 Shekinah glory, if the glory of Christ was greater 00:12:59.91\00:13:03.21 than what was revealed there in the Shekinah. 00:13:03.24\00:13:05.78 And then, of course, when the veil rent from top to bottom, it 00:13:05.81\00:13:08.75 signified that the temple and Jesus said, 00:13:08.78\00:13:11.69 "Your house is left to you desolate," so. 00:13:11.72\00:13:14.36 Doug: He said, "Destroy this temple, I will build one made 00:13:14.39\00:13:16.59 without hands," meaning his body, the church. 00:13:16.62\00:13:18.93 Jean: Very good, I'm thinking, do we have a study? 00:13:18.96\00:13:20.96 We do have a study out on the temple. 00:13:20.96\00:13:22.66 It's called "God Built--" 00:13:22.70\00:13:24.33 Doug: "God Drew The Plans." 00:13:24.37\00:13:25.67 Jean: "God Drew The Plans," that's what it is. 00:13:25.70\00:13:27.00 One of our Amazing Fact study guides. 00:13:27.04\00:13:28.34 We'll be happy to send it to anyone who calls and asks. 00:13:28.37\00:13:29.94 The number is 800-835-6747. 00:13:29.97\00:13:33.68 As for the study guide, it's called "God Drew The Plans." 00:13:33.71\00:13:36.04 We'll be happy to send it to you or just dial #250 on your 00:13:36.08\00:13:40.18 smartphone and say, "Bible Answers Live," 00:13:40.22\00:13:41.95 and ask for that by name. 00:13:41.98\00:13:43.82 We've got Thomas listening, Canada, 00:13:43.85\00:13:45.35 Thomas, welcome to "Bible Answers Live." 00:13:45.39\00:13:50.06 Doug: Hey, Thomas, you're on the air, yeah. 00:13:50.09\00:13:52.06 Thomas: Yes, thank you. Thanks for taking the call. 00:13:52.09\00:13:54.96 Doug: And your question? 00:13:55.00\00:13:56.40 Thomas: The question is yes, they--I heard heard expressed by 00:13:56.43\00:14:00.54 pastors that--and this is not a common understanding, 00:14:00.57\00:14:04.47 but that there is a book of creation. 00:14:04.51\00:14:06.94 and then there's a-- the book of God's Word. 00:14:06.98\00:14:10.35 And as there's two witnesses that God had to carry out a 00:14:10.38\00:14:17.22 death, because of breaking the law, he required a minimum of 00:14:17.25\00:14:20.52 two witnesses, so God follows that same principle. 00:14:20.56\00:14:22.42 That's why Creation and the Word, they are in harmony. 00:14:22.46\00:14:26.03 So, my specific question is, which I illustrated to the 00:14:26.06\00:14:31.87 interviewer when she started is, that carbon has a signature of 00:14:31.90\00:14:35.34 666, and oxygen has a signature of 888. 00:14:35.37\00:14:40.54 And Jesus's name adds up to 888 in in Greek, the language of the 00:14:40.58\00:14:44.75 New Testament was written, the common language of the day. 00:14:44.78\00:14:47.88 So, my question is, do we see an imprint of God putting salvation 00:14:47.92\00:14:53.22 in creation by those two numbers? 00:14:53.25\00:14:58.16 Doug: Okay, I've never had that question before. 00:14:58.19\00:15:00.23 I have heard before that carbon was somehow 00:15:00.26\00:15:04.17 reflected by the number 666. 00:15:04.20\00:15:06.37 I don't know, maybe the--something in the-- 00:15:06.40\00:15:10.34 Jean: Molecular structure or something? 00:15:10.37\00:15:12.11 Doug: Yeah, in the elements of it. 00:15:12.14\00:15:13.71 I don't know that I would try to use that kind of math, taking 00:15:13.74\00:15:19.15 the name of Jesus and the numerical value of his name in 00:15:19.18\00:15:22.48 Hebrew, and saying, you know, part of it equals 00:15:22.52\00:15:26.69 the earth and the Word and creation. 00:15:26.72\00:15:29.56 You know, when I get to heaven, I think we're 00:15:29.59\00:15:30.99 going to learn a lot about numerology. 00:15:31.03\00:15:33.26 God does use a lot of interesting numbers in the Bible 00:15:33.29\00:15:35.50 and we'll probably understand it better. 00:15:35.53\00:15:37.13 There are math geniuses that see all kinds of connections. 00:15:37.17\00:15:40.04 Jean: Of course, if you look in nature, you can 00:15:40.07\00:15:42.00 see the great controversy played out. 00:15:42.04\00:15:44.11 You see good and evil revealed in nature. 00:15:44.14\00:15:46.68 You see beauty in nature, but you also see pain and suffering. 00:15:46.71\00:15:49.88 So, just by looking at nature, you realize, well, first of all, 00:15:49.91\00:15:53.31 there must be a Creator, but you also realize that there's an 00:15:53.35\00:15:55.95 adversary that brings suffering and death. 00:15:55.98\00:15:58.45 And then, of course, the Bible expounds upon that. 00:15:58.49\00:16:00.32 Doug: Yep. 00:16:00.36\00:16:01.66 Something--you can see something went wrong. 00:16:01.69\00:16:02.99 It's a beautiful world, and yet there's 00:16:03.02\00:16:04.33 sin and suffering and death. 00:16:04.36\00:16:06.09 So, hey, thank you, Thomas. Don't know if that helps at all. 00:16:06.13\00:16:08.56 We do have--we do have a free download. 00:16:08.60\00:16:12.00 It's at a website called bibleprophecy.com, 00:16:12.03\00:16:19.47 is that right? 00:16:19.51\00:16:20.81 Jean: I think so. 00:16:20.84\00:16:22.14 Doug: Where it's got the study on numbers? 00:16:22.18\00:16:23.48 Jean: Oh, yeah. Doug: Bible prophecy truth. 00:16:23.51\00:16:25.25 Jean: Prophecy code, if their webs are still up. 00:16:25.28\00:16:28.02 Doug: No, it's-- well maybe there are two. 00:16:28.05\00:16:29.95 Jean: Yeah, it was there. Doug: But yeah, okay. 00:16:29.98\00:16:31.95 Anyway, yeah, we--we've got, if you type in Amazing Facts, 00:16:31.99\00:16:35.26 Bible numbers and their meanings, 00:16:35.29\00:16:36.59 I think we have a a resource on that. 00:16:36.62\00:16:37.93 Jean: We have that. George listening in Texas. 00:16:37.96\00:16:40.43 George, welcome to "Bible Answers Live." 00:16:40.46\00:16:43.80 George: Hi, pastors. 00:16:43.83\00:16:45.37 Doug: Hi, how can we help you? 00:16:45.40\00:16:47.47 George: Okay, I know that one of the commandments is, 00:16:47.50\00:16:51.31 "Thou shalt not kill," or, "Thou shalt not murder." 00:16:51.34\00:16:54.64 Does that mean I'm automatically supposed 00:16:54.68\00:16:56.71 to vote for the party of the pro-life? 00:16:56.75\00:17:01.12 And if I vote for the other party 00:17:01.15\00:17:04.42 that's not pro-life, am I sinning? 00:17:04.45\00:17:07.89 Doug: Well, that's an interesting question. 00:17:07.92\00:17:11.56 Personally, I think that you need to evaluate 00:17:11.59\00:17:16.26 what the values are of different candidates. 00:17:16.30\00:17:21.84 You probably could find good and evil 00:17:21.87\00:17:25.17 in both parties, unfortunately. 00:17:25.21\00:17:29.78 So, you know, sometimes when the time comes to vote, you need to 00:17:29.81\00:17:32.98 pray and then hold your nose and vote as an American citizen. 00:17:33.01\00:17:38.39 But I personally would have a moral problem, 00:17:38.42\00:17:41.66 and again, I don't want to make political statements, 00:17:41.69\00:17:43.46 we want to give Bible answers. 00:17:43.49\00:17:45.43 I would have a problem, personally, voting for a 00:17:45.46\00:17:47.96 candidate that was supporting abortion. 00:17:48.00\00:17:55.07 And that might mean that, you know, 00:17:55.10\00:17:57.51 you're voting for a candidate who's supporting some 00:17:57.54\00:17:59.61 things in other areas that are not Biblical. 00:17:59.64\00:18:01.68 But to me, it's a pretty serious violation 00:18:01.71\00:18:04.05 when you're taking innocent life. 00:18:04.08\00:18:05.75 Jean: You know, one of the counsels I heard dealing with 00:18:05.78\00:18:08.32 voting, it's always good if you can to vote on specific issues 00:18:08.35\00:18:12.82 versus just then parties in general, because like you say, 00:18:12.85\00:18:15.62 there's good and bad in each of the parties. 00:18:15.66\00:18:17.63 But if you have the opportunity to vote on a specific issue, 00:18:17.66\00:18:20.66 whether that's pro-life or abortion, or how--what is 00:18:20.70\00:18:24.33 marriage defined as, we as Christians, I think have an 00:18:24.37\00:18:28.10 opportunity to stand for what the Bible says on these issues. 00:18:28.14\00:18:32.01 So, vote on issues if possible. 00:18:32.04\00:18:35.71 Doug: Yep. Very good. 00:18:35.74\00:18:37.05 Jean: Thank you, George. We got Joel listening. 00:18:37.08\00:18:38.65 Doug: You know, pardon me, I do have a book 00:18:38.68\00:18:40.98 that's called "Should a Christian Vote?" 00:18:41.02\00:18:43.25 Yeah. 00:18:43.28\00:18:44.52 And it talks a little bit about the principles around elections. 00:18:44.55\00:18:46.45 And it talks a little bit about the principles around elections. 00:18:46.49\00:18:47.92 you know, around voting season. 00:18:47.96\00:18:49.26 Yeah, but we'll send it to anyone who calls and asks. 00:18:49.29\00:18:50.73 The number for that is 800-835-6747. 00:18:50.76\00:18:54.00 Just ask for the book, "Should A Christian Vote?" 00:18:54.00\00:18:56.33 and we'll be happy to send it to you or dial #250 on your 00:18:56.36\00:19:00.20 smartphone and you can get it that way as well. 00:19:00.24\00:19:03.14 Joel in North Carolina. 00:19:03.17\00:19:04.47 Joel, welcome to the program. 00:19:04.51\00:19:07.01 Joel: Good evening, pastors. 00:19:07.04\00:19:09.44 I'm doing a study on the timeline between the triumphant 00:19:09.48\00:19:15.28 entry and the Mount of Olives, where Jesus told the disciples 00:19:15.32\00:19:21.19 that, you know, the--Jerusalem was going to be destroyed. 00:19:21.22\00:19:24.59 My question is, did that--from 00:19:24.63\00:19:28.50 Matthew 21 to Matthew 26, did 00:19:28.53\00:19:35.27 that--that happened over, like, a three-day period, right? 00:19:35.30\00:19:40.04 Doug: Well, it, yeah, it's a matter of a few days. 00:19:40.08\00:19:44.01 I'd have to go back and look at chapter 21. 00:19:44.05\00:19:45.95 I know that most of the Gospels would dedicate most of their 00:19:45.98\00:19:49.32 time to the final week of Christ's life. 00:19:49.35\00:19:54.06 So, it wouldn't surprise me. Matthew 21? 00:19:54.09\00:19:56.99 Yeah, I think that's where Jesus is excoriating 00:19:57.03\00:19:59.33 the scribes and Pharisees. 00:19:59.36\00:20:01.33 Jean: Yeah, I think from--if you're looking 00:20:01.36\00:20:02.73 in Matthew 21 starting in verse 1, all the 00:20:02.76\00:20:05.17 way through to the crucifixion, it's about a week. 00:20:05.20\00:20:08.14 So, various Bible scholars believe that Jesus came to 00:20:08.17\00:20:14.11 Jerusalem or Bethany, which is two miles outside of Jerusalem, 00:20:14.14\00:20:18.38 on the Friday, he was there for the Sabbath, and then on Sunday 00:20:18.41\00:20:22.05 he entered, triumphant entry into Jerusalem. 00:20:22.08\00:20:25.05 And then of course, that Friday he was crucified. 00:20:25.09\00:20:27.16 So, a lot happened within that one week. 00:20:27.19\00:20:29.32 Doug: It tells about, yeah, several teaching episodes and-- 00:20:29.36\00:20:32.46 Jean: The cursing the fig tree when he went in and out. 00:20:32.49\00:20:34.86 Okay, thank you Joel. 00:20:34.93\00:20:36.90 Who do we have next? Chastity, is that right? 00:20:36.93\00:20:39.57 Doug: Yes, Chasity. 00:20:39.60\00:20:40.90 Jean: Chasity from Arizona, Chasity, welcome to the program. 00:20:40.94\00:20:44.74 Chasity: Hi, thank you very much. 00:20:44.77\00:20:46.14 Doug: Yes. 00:20:46.17\00:20:47.48 Chasity: I just have a question. 00:20:47.51\00:20:50.01 Are the demons that are mentioned in the 00:20:50.05\00:20:51.98 Bible the fallen angels, and who are the third 00:20:52.01\00:20:55.65 of the fallen angels who fell to earth? 00:20:55.68\00:20:58.69 Doug: Yeah, yes and yes. 00:20:58.72\00:21:01.96 The angels, the evil spirits, are the 00:21:01.99\00:21:05.99 same as the fallen angels. 00:21:06.03\00:21:07.86 So, you know the devil is sometimes 00:21:07.93\00:21:10.40 referred to as an evil spirit. 00:21:10.43\00:21:13.87 You know, "We don't wrestle against flesh and blood," it 00:21:13.90\00:21:15.97 says in Ephesians chapter 6, "but against 00:21:16.00\00:21:18.51 spiritual hosts of evil in high places." 00:21:18.54\00:21:22.18 And in Revelation 12 it says Satan was cast out of heaven and 00:21:22.21\00:21:25.95 his angels were cast out with him. 00:21:25.98\00:21:28.38 And then you read earlier, the tail of the dragon drew 1/3 of 00:21:28.42\00:21:32.92 the stars, and these--the stars are--the dragon is a symbol for 00:21:32.95\00:21:36.96 Satan, and the stars are a symbol for the angels. 00:21:36.99\00:21:40.20 And it says his angels were cast down with him. 00:21:40.23\00:21:42.30 So, whenever we hear about evil spirits and sometimes they are 00:21:42.33\00:21:46.13 called demons or even ghosts, these 00:21:46.17\00:21:49.27 are typically angels, Satan's angels. 00:21:49.30\00:21:52.67 They're fallen angels that have been converted, like Lucifer. 00:21:52.71\00:21:57.51 Satan was once Lucifer, he was the chief of the angels and he 00:21:57.55\00:22:00.32 became a devil, and the fallen angels became demons. 00:22:00.35\00:22:05.09 Jean: We have a study guide that talks about the origin of evil. 00:22:05.12\00:22:07.32 It's called "Did God Create A Devil?" 00:22:07.36\00:22:09.12 And I think it addresses this very question, 00:22:09.16\00:22:10.83 about the angels and how they fell. 00:22:10.86\00:22:12.43 If you'd like to receive that, 00:22:12.46\00:22:13.76 the number to call is 800-835-6747. 00:22:13.80\00:22:16.53 Ask for the study guide, "Did God Create the Devil?" 00:22:16.56\00:22:19.20 Or dial #250 on your smartphone and just ask for it. 00:22:19.23\00:22:23.44 We'll be happy to send it to anyone who calls and asks. 00:22:23.47\00:22:25.67 We got Joe listening in Arizona. 00:22:25.71\00:22:27.78 Joe, welcome to the program. 00:22:27.81\00:22:30.15 Joe: How you guys doing? 00:22:30.18\00:22:31.65 Doug: Great. How are you doing? 00:22:31.68\00:22:34.05 Joe: Hey, my question this week is, I've watched--Pastor 00:22:34.08\00:22:40.59 Batchelor, I've watched your presentation on the 144,000, but 00:22:40.62\00:22:46.36 I never really got a definitive answer of who they are. 00:22:46.39\00:22:50.43 And so, I guess my question would since the Bible says that 00:22:50.47\00:22:54.64 before the four quarters--or the End Times, the angels are 00:22:54.67\00:23:00.24 released to wreak havoc on the earth, that 00:23:00.28\00:23:02.91 the angel goes and he seals the 144,000? 00:23:02.94\00:23:06.48 Doug: Yes. 00:23:06.51\00:23:07.82 Joe: Is it possible that the 144,000 could be the actual 00:23:07.85\00:23:10.62 literal number of people that get sealed with 00:23:10.65\00:23:13.15 the seal of God, before the tribulation? 00:23:13.19\00:23:15.86 Doug: I don't think they're the only ones. 00:23:15.89\00:23:19.59 In other words, I think everyone in the last days that's saved 00:23:19.63\00:23:23.23 has the seal of God, because everyone 00:23:23.26\00:23:25.27 else has got the mark of the beast. 00:23:25.30\00:23:27.17 But the 144,000, I think there's more 00:23:27.20\00:23:29.70 than just the 144,000 that are saved. 00:23:29.74\00:23:33.17 I think the 144,000 represent the leadership. 00:23:33.21\00:23:37.61 Keep in mind, Revelation is written by an apostle, his name 00:23:37.65\00:23:40.88 is John, and everything you read about the 00:23:40.92\00:23:43.59 144,000 fits the definitions of the apostles. 00:23:43.62\00:23:47.86 They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. 00:23:47.89\00:23:50.63 It says, "These are they without guile." 00:23:50.66\00:23:53.46 They have a special message. 00:23:53.50\00:23:56.56 It's like on the day of Pentecost, one of the disciples 00:23:56.60\00:24:00.30 had committed suicide because he betrayed Jesus, Judas. 00:24:00.34\00:24:03.84 And before the Holy Spirit is poured out, Peter says we need 00:24:03.87\00:24:07.18 to replace that because we're down to 11 apostles. 00:24:07.21\00:24:10.18 As soon as they get to the number 12, the next thing it 00:24:10.21\00:24:13.01 says is the place they were gathered together is 00:24:13.05\00:24:15.45 shaken and the Holy Spirit is poured out. 00:24:15.48\00:24:17.39 When they got to that number 12, there's something about that. 00:24:17.42\00:24:20.29 And I think that in the same way God used 12 00:24:20.32\00:24:23.73 apostles to go and preach to the lost tribes of 00:24:23.76\00:24:27.66 Israel during Jesus's first coming, 00:24:27.73\00:24:30.37 he's going to have 12 times 12,000 before the second coming. 00:24:30.40\00:24:33.70 They're not the only ones saved, just like on the day of 00:24:33.74\00:24:35.84 Pentecost, you've got 12 apostles in the upper room, but 00:24:35.87\00:24:38.51 there's 120 total, there's other people, other disciples there. 00:24:38.54\00:24:42.58 It wasn't just the 12 apostles filled with the Holy Spirit, it 00:24:42.61\00:24:45.55 was everybody in the upper room, and then through their 00:24:45.58\00:24:47.68 preaching, there's a great revival. 00:24:47.72\00:24:50.12 And I think that's going to repeat itself. 00:24:50.15\00:24:52.32 A latter rain outpouring of the Spirit. 00:24:52.35\00:24:54.79 The 144,000 are a type of God's people, 00:24:54.82\00:24:57.89 but they're a symbol for the apostles also. 00:24:57.93\00:25:01.03 Got a book we can send you. 00:25:01.06\00:25:02.53 We may have offered this to you last time, 00:25:02.56\00:25:04.43 but I don't know if you received it yet or asked for 00:25:04.47\00:25:06.50 it, but it's on--"Who Are the 144,000?" 00:25:06.53\00:25:10.24 Jean: The number to call for that is 800-835-6747. 00:25:10.27\00:25:14.18 Just ask for the book, "Who Are the 144,000?" 00:25:14.21\00:25:16.44 We'll be happy to send it to you, Joel, or anyone wanting to 00:25:16.48\00:25:19.11 learn more about Revelation chapter 7. 00:25:19.15\00:25:21.45 Dial #250 on your smartphone and just say, "Bible Answers Live," 00:25:21.48\00:25:25.09 and again you can ask for the book. 00:25:25.12\00:25:26.72 We'll be happy to send it to you. 00:25:26.76\00:25:28.46 Next caller that we have is James, 00:25:28.49\00:25:30.29 listening from Pennsylvania. 00:25:30.33\00:25:32.16 James, welcome to the program. 00:25:32.19\00:25:34.86 James: All right, good evening. 00:25:34.93\00:25:36.13 I was wondering if I could ask two really quick questions, If 00:25:36.16\00:25:39.67 I'm real quick, to make my point? 00:25:39.70\00:25:41.80 Doug: Okay, let's take them one at a time. 00:25:41.84\00:25:44.44 James: Sure, the first question I have is, are God's 00:25:44.47\00:25:46.64 people allowed to defend themselves and their families 00:25:46.68\00:25:49.61 from the forces of evil, without committing sin? 00:25:49.64\00:25:52.78 Say like if somebody tried to break into my house and the only 00:25:52.81\00:25:56.38 way that I could defend my family is, 00:25:56.42\00:25:59.19 like, if I had to shoot them or something? 00:25:59.22\00:26:02.69 Doug: You know, according to the Bible, it says pretty 00:26:02.72\00:26:05.53 clearly, even Jesus said that, you know, "You can't break into 00:26:05.56\00:26:09.06 a strong man's house unless you bind him 00:26:09.10\00:26:10.97 first," physically, you have to restrain him. 00:26:11.00\00:26:13.40 Meaning, that if you don't physically 00:26:13.44\00:26:14.74 restrain him, he's going to defend his family. 00:26:14.77\00:26:17.57 And so, I think it's a pretty common universal understanding 00:26:17.61\00:26:21.14 that a man or whoever's in the house would want to protect the 00:26:21.18\00:26:24.98 home and the children and the occupants. 00:26:25.01\00:26:27.48 And so, if force is used to come in, you might 00:26:27.52\00:26:30.65 need to use force if you can to stop an invasion. 00:26:30.69\00:26:34.36 And most laws in most countries understand and recognize that. 00:26:34.39\00:26:38.23 So, I don't think there's a moral--you know, some people 00:26:38.26\00:26:40.20 might say, you know, "I just, I can't do that even if my family 00:26:40.23\00:26:43.20 is at risk," and I'd respectfully disagree. 00:26:43.23\00:26:46.10 But there are some people who feel so strongly about any kind 00:26:46.13\00:26:49.20 of, what they would call violent defense, that they don't think a 00:26:49.24\00:26:54.88 Christian should do that, they should just pray. 00:26:54.91\00:26:57.18 Well, I wouldn't bother my conscience. 00:26:57.21\00:27:00.82 I think it's normal reaction and I think it's even a duty for the 00:27:00.85\00:27:05.45 man of a house to protect and provide for his family. 00:27:05.49\00:27:09.52 Listening friends, we want to thank you 00:27:09.56\00:27:13.33 for your continued support of Amazing Facts. 00:27:13.36\00:27:16.20 Now, we've still got half the program 00:27:16.23\00:27:17.80 to come, but I just want to pause here. 00:27:17.83\00:27:19.33 This program is 100% supported by you. 00:27:19.37\00:27:23.30 And if you've been blessed, we encourage you 00:27:23.34\00:27:25.27 to go to the website and keep us going. 00:27:25.31\00:27:27.54 Don't go away. 00:27:27.58\00:27:28.88 The best of "Bible Answers Live" is coming in our second half. 00:27:28.91\00:27:31.65 ¤¤¤ 00:27:31.68\00:27:35.95 announcer: Stay tuned, "Bible Answers Live" 00:27:35.98\00:27:38.09 will return shortly. 00:27:38.12\00:27:40.22 announcer: Would you like to know God's plan for our broken 00:27:45.59\00:27:47.83 world as revealed in Bible prophecy? 00:31:19.11\00:31:22.14 Doug: Well, let's read these for friends who are listening. 00:31:22.18\00:31:24.71 In Romans chapter 11:36, "For of him and through him and to him 00:31:24.75\00:31:30.65 are all things, to whom be the glory forever." 00:31:30.69\00:31:33.72 Well, what all things is Paul talking about? 00:31:33.76\00:31:36.26 You go to verse 33, it says, "Of the depth of the 00:31:36.29\00:31:38.39 riches of the wisdom of the knowledge of God." 00:31:38.43\00:31:40.76 It's talking about the mercy of God in verse 31 and God's grace. 00:31:40.80\00:31:44.70 It's not talking about evil. 00:31:44.73\00:31:46.63 And so he's--Paul is saying that the 00:31:46.67\00:31:49.80 glory for all--the plan of salvation belongs 00:31:49.84\00:31:52.77 to God, we can't take credit for it. 00:31:52.81\00:31:54.98 So that verse, I think, to say that God 00:31:55.01\00:31:57.21 created sin, now there's a big problem with 00:31:57.25\00:32:00.48 anyone who says that God created sin. 00:32:00.52\00:32:02.65 It says God tempts no man. 00:32:02.68\00:32:04.55 James says, I forget the verse, "God 00:32:04.59\00:32:06.35 cannot be tempted with evil. 00:32:06.39\00:32:07.69 Neither does he tempt anybody." 00:32:07.72\00:32:09.49 So, whoever tempted Adam and Eve in the Garden 00:32:09.52\00:32:11.46 of Eden, God never induces people to sin. 00:32:11.49\00:32:15.03 God does not create entrapment to try to get people to sin. 00:32:15.06\00:32:19.23 He hates sin. 00:32:19.27\00:32:20.60 Jean: That's James chapter 1 verse 13. 00:32:20.64\00:32:22.17 It says God doesn't tempt. 00:32:22.20\00:32:23.51 Doug: "Every good and perfect gift is from God and comes 00:32:23.54\00:32:26.44 down from the Father of lights with whom there 00:32:26.47\00:32:28.44 is no variableness or shadow of turning." 00:32:28.48\00:32:31.15 And so, God is good. 00:32:31.18\00:32:33.52 Sin came from--God created a good angel, who had a free will. 00:32:33.55\00:32:38.35 And this intelligent, free, moral 00:32:38.39\00:32:39.95 being, Lucifer, he became selfish. 00:32:39.99\00:32:44.39 Sin began with him. 00:32:44.43\00:32:46.29 And, God is good, God is pure, God is just. 00:32:46.33\00:32:50.13 So, the idea that God created sin, created sinners and then 00:32:50.17\00:32:53.57 said he's going to punish sinners for being sinners, well, 00:32:53.60\00:32:56.44 that would make God an accomplice to the problem of 00:32:56.47\00:32:59.04 sin, which really would go against 00:32:59.07\00:33:02.94 everything the Bible says about God hating sin. 00:33:02.98\00:33:05.38 Jean: Of course, we have that study 00:33:05.41\00:33:06.72 guide it says, "Did God Create a Devil?" 00:33:06.75\00:33:08.32 And it deals with this. 00:33:08.35\00:33:09.65 I'll be happy to send it to anyone who calls 00:33:09.68\00:33:11.15 and asks, it's 800-835-6747 or dial #250 on 00:33:11.19\00:33:16.39 your smartphone and we can send it to you. 00:33:16.42\00:33:18.63 Doug: Sorry, just in fairness, also, I think Aaron 00:33:18.66\00:33:20.56 was also asking about Colossians 1:16 and 17, which is also 00:33:20.60\00:33:25.13 saying, I believe, that God made all things. 00:33:25.17\00:33:28.17 But it's talking about God made everything. 00:33:28.20\00:33:30.27 It looks back to Genesis, where it says it was good, 00:33:30.31\00:33:32.67 good, very good, he made everything good. 00:33:32.71\00:33:35.24 And because of the choice of one of the free creatures, 00:33:35.28\00:33:38.41 Adam and Eve and the devil, they made 00:33:38.45\00:33:41.52 moral choices not to love and not to obey. 00:33:41.55\00:33:45.05 Jean: All right, thanks for your call, Aaron. 00:33:45.09\00:33:46.92 We've got Lawrence listening from Oregon. 00:33:46.96\00:33:49.49 Lawrence, welcome to the program. 00:33:49.52\00:33:52.19 Lawrence: Yeah. 00:33:52.23\00:33:53.53 I just told a little bit about circumcision. 00:33:53.56\00:33:56.30 If Jesus told us to follow his steps and he was circumcised on 00:33:56.33\00:34:00.97 the 8th day, do we practice circumcision today or not? 00:34:01.00\00:34:07.04 People-- that's my question. 00:34:07.08\00:34:10.48 Doug: Yeah, well, one of the big discussions they had in the 00:34:10.51\00:34:13.35 New Testament is as the Gentiles were coming to Christ and 00:34:13.38\00:34:16.92 believing in Jesus, some of the Jewish believers in Christ said, 00:34:16.95\00:34:20.22 "Oh well, they need to be circumcised." 00:34:20.26\00:34:22.29 And there was a long discussion about this in the early church, 00:34:22.32\00:34:25.53 and they came to the conclusion that it is not necessary. 00:34:25.56\00:34:29.30 Circumcision was something that pointed to the covenant that the 00:34:29.33\00:34:34.90 promised seed would come through the line of Abraham. 00:34:34.94\00:34:38.07 It also was a symbol for the cutting away of the flesh, not 00:34:38.11\00:34:41.84 being carnally minded but being spiritual minded. 00:34:41.88\00:34:44.85 So, now many countries and peoples, I think Muslims and 00:34:44.88\00:34:49.18 Jews and many Gentiles today still practice circumcision and 00:34:49.22\00:34:53.36 they perform it in hospitals routinely for Jews and Gentiles 00:34:53.39\00:34:57.06 because they--there is some medical benefit. 00:34:57.09\00:35:00.30 And I'm talking about male circumcision. 00:35:00.33\00:35:02.13 Female circumcision is believed to be 00:35:02.16\00:35:04.70 all negative, it's kind of a mutilation. 00:35:04.73\00:35:08.30 But--and you can probably research the details of that on 00:35:08.34\00:35:11.71 your own, but there's no command. 00:35:11.74\00:35:14.68 Paul says circumcision is nothing, 00:35:14.71\00:35:16.01 and you can read this in Galatians. 00:35:16.04\00:35:17.65 Uncircumcision is nothing, keeping 00:35:17.68\00:35:19.18 the commandments is what matters. 00:35:19.21\00:35:20.88 Jean: Okay, thank you. 00:35:20.92\00:35:22.22 We've got Junith listening in Nevada. 00:35:22.25\00:35:23.95 Junith, welcome to "Bible Answers Live." 00:35:23.99\00:35:27.29 Junith: Hello, good evening. 00:35:27.32\00:35:29.16 My question is related to Genesis 00:35:29.19\00:35:33.19 chapter 3 verses 1 to 23. 00:35:33.23\00:35:37.20 Is about the the character of the snake. 00:35:37.23\00:35:40.40 We know that God described the snake as the 00:35:40.44\00:35:46.14 most guile among the animals in the garden. 00:35:46.17\00:35:50.08 Some people would even put in the sermon that the devil is 00:35:50.11\00:35:54.85 smart, and I really would like to to address this, that if the 00:35:54.88\00:35:59.49 devil is smart, the devil should not have become the devil. 00:35:59.52\00:36:04.29 He would still be one of the cherubims 00:36:04.33\00:36:09.26 guarding the Ark of the Covenant. 00:36:09.30\00:36:11.50 And the meaning of guile here is, 00:36:11.53\00:36:14.94 actually it's another form of intelligence. 00:36:14.97\00:36:17.84 It's a crafty intelligence. 00:36:17.87\00:36:19.87 And to be smart is quick-witted intelligence. 00:36:19.91\00:36:23.41 Would you agree with me that the snake is not smart? 00:36:23.45\00:36:27.52 Doug: Yeah, well, the Bible says, you know, thank you, June. 00:36:27.55\00:36:30.45 The Bible says that, "The fool has said in his heart there is 00:36:30.49\00:36:33.62 no God and the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." 00:36:33.66\00:36:37.53 And Satan's not fearing God 00:36:37.56\00:36:39.93 is a sign of the ultimate ignorance. 00:36:39.96\00:36:44.50 And I know that that might sound like a contradiction, but keep 00:36:44.53\00:36:47.80 in mind there are some people in the world that have extremely 00:36:47.84\00:36:51.84 high IQ's that do not believe in God, and they are foolish in 00:36:51.87\00:36:58.48 deliberately choosing not to believe in God. 00:36:58.51\00:37:00.85 I think Paul addresses this in Romans 1, he says, "Thinking 00:37:00.88\00:37:03.25 themselves wise, they become fools." 00:37:03.28\00:37:05.72 And so, they're still very intelligent people that would, 00:37:05.75\00:37:08.89 you know, if they took an IQ test, they'd score very high. 00:37:08.92\00:37:12.09 If you ask them if they believe in God, they say no, and the 00:37:12.13\00:37:14.36 reason is they can't afford to believe in God, because that 00:37:14.40\00:37:16.46 means they would have to answer to God. 00:37:16.50\00:37:17.90 They want to be their own God. 00:37:17.93\00:37:19.23 That was the devil's problem. 00:37:19.27\00:37:21.00 And so, when it says the serpent was more cunning, it's talking 00:37:21.04\00:37:24.44 about the craftiness, the hypnotic ability of like a 00:37:24.47\00:37:27.51 snake, to deceive, to sneak up on. 00:37:27.54\00:37:31.08 So, it doesn't mean that the devil 00:37:31.11\00:37:33.21 is wise in the spiritual sense. 00:37:33.25\00:37:36.62 Real wisdom is surrendering to God and believing in God. 00:37:36.65\00:37:39.85 Jean: All right, thank you. 00:37:39.89\00:37:41.19 Next caller that we have is Loretta listening from New York. 00:37:41.22\00:37:45.39 Loretta, welcome to the program. 00:37:45.43\00:37:48.16 Loretta: Hey, Doug and John. 00:37:48.20\00:37:50.47 My question is, my 13 year old came 00:37:50.50\00:37:53.67 to me with these two verses, and he was 00:37:53.70\00:37:56.30 wondering if there is a contradiction. 00:37:56.34\00:37:57.91 Clearly, I couldn't explain it to him. 00:37:57.94\00:37:59.91 It's 2 Chronicles 22:2 and 2 Kings 8:26. 00:37:59.94\00:38:05.28 Doug: Okay, let's go there, 2 Chronicles 22:2. 00:38:05.31\00:38:08.32 Yeah. 00:38:08.35\00:38:10.35 "And the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah, his 00:38:10.39\00:38:12.59 youngest son, King in this place for the raiders who came with 00:38:12.62\00:38:16.42 the Arabians into camp had killed the older sons. 00:38:16.46\00:38:20.26 So Ahaziah, the son of Joram, King of Judah, reigned." 00:38:20.30\00:38:24.83 And, so, verse 2, "Ahaziah was 42 years old." 00:38:24.87\00:38:28.07 Now, the--in 2 Kings it says Ahaziah was 22 years old. 00:38:28.10\00:38:35.48 Yeah, and the reason that is given by the Bible scholars is 00:38:35.51\00:38:40.05 that it probably was that he was 22 years old. 00:38:40.08\00:38:44.35 The letters in Hebrew--the Bible is perfect, but sometimes 00:38:44.39\00:38:47.89 the manuscripts they translate from, the scribes had written 00:38:47.92\00:38:51.46 letters not clearly, or the ink had smudged 00:38:51.49\00:38:54.73 by the time the translators got the documents. 00:38:54.76\00:38:58.07 And when they looked at the Hebrew letters for 22, it's like 00:38:58.10\00:39:02.24 in English, the seven and the two can sometimes 00:39:02.27\00:39:04.94 look similar if you don't write them clearly. 00:39:04.97\00:39:06.91 You know what I'm saying? 00:39:06.94\00:39:08.61 And, matter of fact, when I was--when I was 00:39:08.64\00:39:13.08 a teenager, I took my learner's permit. 00:39:13.11\00:39:15.08 I was born in 1957. 00:39:15.12\00:39:16.79 Now you all know how old I am. 00:39:16.82\00:39:18.89 But I wanted to be able to buy alcohol, so I turned the seven 00:39:18.92\00:39:21.66 into a two very easily and I used that counterfeit or forged 00:39:21.69\00:39:26.39 learner's permit to get a driver's license. 00:39:26.43\00:39:28.80 For years, my drivers license that I was older than I was, 00:39:28.83\00:39:31.90 even after I became a Christian, because every 00:39:31.93\00:39:33.34 time I renewed it, they took the old date. 00:39:33.37\00:39:35.34 And one day I went back and I said, 00:39:35.37\00:39:37.04 "You know, this is wrong, it's not my age." 00:39:37.07\00:39:38.51 And they just took my word for it 00:39:38.54\00:39:39.84 and changed it back, I was amazed. 00:39:39.87\00:39:41.81 I should have said I was 15. 00:39:41.84\00:39:43.68 Anyway, but this is just a place where you are 00:39:43.71\00:39:46.98 going to see a discrepancy because-- 00:39:47.02\00:39:49.28 is this what you understand, Pastor Ross? 00:39:49.32\00:39:51.82 The numbers in Hebrew, the characters look very similar and 00:39:51.85\00:39:54.82 it was translated incorrectly, probably in 2 Chronicles 22. 00:39:54.86\00:40:00.66 So, thank you. 00:40:00.70\00:40:02.20 Hope that and the math adds up better one way than the other, 00:40:02.23\00:40:05.43 as far as the ages of the kings and how old the kids would be. 00:40:05.47\00:40:09.07 Jean: All right, next caller that we have 00:40:09.10\00:40:10.41 is Jasmine listening in Georgia. 00:40:10.44\00:40:12.97 Jasmine, welcome to the program. 00:40:13.01\00:40:15.98 Jasmine: Yes, good night. Doug: Evening. 00:40:16.01\00:40:18.38 Jasmine: I just wanted to say, God bless your ministry and 00:40:18.41\00:40:22.78 my son and I hear you guys every day, you know, repetition. 00:40:22.82\00:40:27.66 But our question that we have is when Eve 00:40:27.69\00:40:32.59 was talking to the serpent, why was she not 00:40:32.63\00:40:35.60 surprised that the serpent was talking to her? 00:40:35.63\00:40:39.47 Doug: Well, I think she was surprised. 00:40:39.50\00:40:42.34 I think the devil deliberately possessed this beautiful, subtle 00:40:42.37\00:40:48.34 creature that was probably hypnotic in the way it moved, 00:40:48.38\00:40:52.05 even snakes today can be hypnotic. 00:40:52.08\00:40:53.72 But snakes after sin were cursed to crawl on the ground, which 00:40:53.75\00:40:56.75 means before sin, they had some other means of mobilization. 00:40:56.79\00:41:01.76 And commentators think that they may have been able to fly. 00:41:01.79\00:41:06.06 Virtually every culture in the world talks about flying 00:41:06.09\00:41:08.30 reptiles, and there's even bones of pterodactyls 00:41:08.33\00:41:12.73 and pterodactyls and reptiles that flew. 00:41:12.77\00:41:15.97 So, you know, we don't know if there's that 00:41:16.00\00:41:17.91 connection, but I think she was surprised. 00:41:17.94\00:41:20.84 And that's one of the things that--sure, she wasn't afraid. 00:41:20.88\00:41:23.28 There was nothing in the garden to fear, but I don't think Eve 00:41:23.31\00:41:26.65 knew that any of the creatures had the ability of speech, and 00:41:26.68\00:41:29.62 the serpent is--he's intimating, "Well if you eat 00:41:29.65\00:41:32.35 this fruit, look what it did for me? 00:41:32.39\00:41:33.96 I was a snake, that all I could do is stick 00:41:33.99\00:41:35.72 out my tongue and now I can talk." 00:41:35.76\00:41:37.59 And she was amazed by that and thought, 00:41:37.63\00:41:39.03 maybe God is keeping something from us. 00:41:39.06\00:41:41.70 So, I think--I don't know what your thoughts are? 00:41:41.73\00:41:43.50 Jean: Absolutely. 00:41:43.53\00:41:44.93 Doug: I think you--I think she was surprised. 00:41:44.97\00:41:46.40 Jean: And also probably surprised by the fact that it 00:41:46.43\00:41:48.40 almost seemed as though the serpent answered 00:41:48.44\00:41:50.51 a question that she was wondering about. 00:41:50.54\00:41:52.34 She was looking at the fruit and the devil was waiting. 00:41:52.37\00:41:54.71 He saw his perfect opportunity. 00:41:54.74\00:41:56.48 Doug: He read her expressions of curiosity and yeah. 00:41:56.51\00:42:00.25 Jean: Subtle, yeah. 00:42:00.28\00:42:01.65 Doug: And then you know, I heard one Hebrew scholar said, 00:42:01.68\00:42:04.75 when he greeted Eve, it was like, hi in there. 00:42:04.79\00:42:10.36 I mean, it was all--yeah, it was almost like a flattering, 00:42:10.39\00:42:13.43 seductive greeting that appealed to her. 00:42:13.46\00:42:16.43 So yeah. 00:42:16.46\00:42:18.17 Okay, thanks. 00:42:18.20\00:42:20.17 Jean: Next caller that we have is Coby listening from 00:42:20.20\00:42:21.90 Washington, Coby welcome to "Bible Answers Live." 00:42:21.94\00:42:25.81 Coby: Hello pastors. 00:42:25.84\00:42:28.64 I wanted to know can people go to heaven 00:42:28.68\00:42:34.95 if they go to church on Sunday? 00:42:34.98\00:42:37.45 Doug: Okay. 00:42:37.49\00:42:38.89 There are going to be a lot of people in 00:42:38.92\00:42:40.29 heaven that went to church on Sunday. 00:42:40.32\00:42:41.92 There'll be people in heaven that 00:42:41.96\00:42:43.29 maybe didn't know what day to go to church. 00:42:43.32\00:42:45.49 Now, I think Coby might be wondering because on this 00:42:45.53\00:42:48.06 program, we've said that Biblically there's 00:42:48.10\00:42:50.33 no question the seventh day is the Sabbath. 00:42:50.37\00:42:52.97 Well, what does that mean about millions 00:42:53.00\00:42:54.67 of people around the world that go to church on the 00:42:54.70\00:42:56.57 first day of the week instead of the seventh day? 00:42:56.60\00:42:58.37 Are they automatically lost? No. 00:42:58.41\00:43:01.48 Sin is knowing to do good and not doing it, so there's a lot 00:43:01.51\00:43:04.88 of people that don't know God's will in this area. 00:43:04.91\00:43:08.65 And so, you know, Christians that live up to all the light 00:43:08.68\00:43:12.22 that they have, they're going to be in the kingdom. 00:43:12.25\00:43:15.72 But that doesn't mean we should ignore what the Bible says. 00:43:15.76\00:43:18.89 Once we know what the Bible says, 00:43:18.93\00:43:20.70 we need to follow the Word of God. 00:43:20.73\00:43:22.20 Jean: Well, the Bible speaks of a time 00:43:22.23\00:43:23.53 when God winked at their ignorance. 00:43:23.57\00:43:25.57 For example, you have many very godly men 00:43:25.60\00:43:28.14 in the Old Testament that had more than one wife. 00:43:28.17\00:43:30.17 Well, that was never God's will. 00:43:30.21\00:43:31.54 Jesus made it very clear when he said, in 00:43:31.57\00:43:33.24 the beginning he created man and woman. 00:43:33.27\00:43:35.54 And yet they still gonna be saved. 00:43:35.58\00:43:37.71 They kind of conformed to the culture of the time. 00:43:37.75\00:43:41.08 And God has given us truth. 00:43:41.12\00:43:43.52 We want to follow all the light. 00:43:43.55\00:43:45.22 Doug: Yep. So, thank you Coby. 00:43:45.25\00:43:47.39 Hope that helps the answer that a little bit. 00:43:47.42\00:43:49.72 Jean: We've got Steven, listening in Canada. 00:43:49.76\00:43:52.06 Steven, welcome to the program. 00:43:52.09\00:43:55.33 Steven: Good evening, gentlemen. 00:43:55.36\00:43:56.90 I appreciate the program as always. 00:43:56.93\00:43:58.40 I think it's the fifth time I have a pleasure to call. 00:43:58.43\00:44:01.74 Thank you for taking my call. 00:44:01.77\00:44:03.07 What I would like to know, what does the Bible 00:44:03.10\00:44:05.14 say about fornication, you know, to keep 00:44:05.17\00:44:07.98 out of making love outside of marriage? 00:44:08.01\00:44:10.91 Doug: I think the Bible is pretty clear 00:44:10.95\00:44:12.61 that sexual relations for people are to 00:44:12.65\00:44:16.02 be reserved for the marriage covenant. 00:44:16.05\00:44:19.82 And I think we can see the epidemic in our country and 00:44:19.85\00:44:22.76 other parts of the world, to families where children are born 00:44:22.79\00:44:26.70 into single parent families, not because the 00:44:26.73\00:44:29.40 father or mother died, but because there 00:44:29.43\00:44:31.83 was no benefit of a covenant of marriage. 00:44:31.87\00:44:34.74 And they grow up and often struggle with 00:44:34.77\00:44:37.91 a whole spectrum of problems because 00:44:37.94\00:44:40.04 they don't have the biblically designed family. 00:44:40.08\00:44:43.04 Now I know there are people that either through 00:44:43.08\00:44:45.35 divorce or death, they're single parents and God 00:44:45.38\00:44:48.15 will watch over and bless but it's not the ideal. 00:44:48.18\00:44:52.15 God's ideal is for there to be man and woman. 00:44:52.19\00:44:55.36 Sex is to be reserved for that, and you might 00:44:55.39\00:44:57.09 be thinking, well, what if you know, if you 00:44:57.13\00:44:58.43 use birth control, what difference does it make? 00:44:58.46\00:45:00.20 You know, God wants us to reserve those intimate--that 00:45:00.23\00:45:05.20 intimate gift for the marriage covenant. 00:45:05.23\00:45:09.20 And I think the Bible, every verse in the 00:45:09.24\00:45:11.07 Bible that addresses that is consistent. 00:45:11.11\00:45:13.61 Jean: All right. 00:45:13.64\00:45:15.01 Did you have a second question, Steven? 00:45:15.04\00:45:17.35 Steven: Yes, because I was just thinking, but I don't want 00:45:17.38\00:45:20.32 to add--thank you very much, Professor Jean Ross for asking. 00:45:20.35\00:45:24.15 My second question is that we should not add or distract 00:45:24.19\00:45:26.69 anything as Revelation questions, but my humble 00:45:26.72\00:45:29.39 observation because the Sabbath is going to be the seal of God 00:45:29.42\00:45:33.09 and also Isaiah 66:32-33 as you know, is going to be eternal 00:45:33.13\00:45:37.10 life important, if this can keep us more on the narrow path, more 00:45:37.13\00:45:42.47 in Christ, than let's say Sunday, which is 00:45:42.50\00:45:44.64 not in the Bible or you know any other day. 00:45:44.67\00:45:48.18 You know the Sunday, keep us more clean, more pure bride of 00:45:48.21\00:45:51.75 Christ, the temple, you know more being the men and more the 00:45:51.78\00:45:55.18 desire to stay pure until marriage. 00:45:55.22\00:46:00.16 Doug: Well, I Ido think there's benefit. 00:46:00.19\00:46:02.16 Whenever we obey God, there's a blessing. 00:46:02.19\00:46:04.56 If you look in Isaiah chapter 58, when it talks 00:46:04.59\00:46:06.96 about the Sabbath commandment in particular 00:46:07.00\00:46:10.50 and you can look in, let me see here. 00:46:10.53\00:46:15.87 Here we go, I'm getting close. 00:46:15.90\00:46:18.17 Isaiah 58, verse 13. 00:46:18.21\00:46:20.28 "If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your 00:46:20.31\00:46:23.04 pleasure on my holy day and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy 00:46:23.08\00:46:27.58 day of the Lord, honorable and shall honor him, not doing your 00:46:27.62\00:46:30.89 own ways or finding your own pleasure or speaking your own 00:46:30.92\00:46:33.52 words, then you will delight yourself in the Lord, and I will 00:46:33.56\00:46:37.66 cause you to ride on the high places of the earth and feed you 00:46:37.69\00:46:41.16 with the heritage of Jacob your father. 00:46:41.20\00:46:43.26 The mouth of the Lord has spoken." 00:46:43.30\00:46:45.03 He promises special blessings that go above 00:46:45.07\00:46:47.97 and beyond the blessings of physical rest. 00:46:48.00\00:46:50.54 Jean: You know, we have a study guide, it's called "The 00:46:50.57\00:46:52.04 Lost Day of History," and if anyone wants to 00:46:52.07\00:46:54.14 study this further, it's an important topic, 00:46:54.18\00:46:56.24 we'll be able to send you this for free. 00:46:56.28\00:46:57.88 The number to call is 800-835-6747. 00:46:57.91\00:47:01.55 Just ask for the study guide called 00:47:01.58\00:47:03.05 "The Lost Day of History." 00:47:03.08\00:47:04.65 We also have a website called sabbathtruth.com, and you 00:47:04.69\00:47:07.59 can go there right away, and you can see some great 00:47:07.62\00:47:09.32 resources and study this further for yourself. 00:47:09.36\00:47:12.26 Next caller that we have is Lee, listening in Texas. 00:47:12.29\00:47:14.20 Lee, welcome to the program. 00:47:14.23\00:47:16.16 Lee: Yes, sir, thank you. 00:47:16.20\00:47:18.70 My question is that Jesus knew 00:47:18.73\00:47:21.20 everything that God knows, right? 00:47:21.24\00:47:24.84 Doug: Well, yes, he does now, on earth he did not. 00:47:24.87\00:47:28.34 I mean, on earth he laid aside his divinity, and so he only 00:47:28.38\00:47:32.11 knew that what was revealed at the time by the Father. 00:47:32.15\00:47:35.95 Lee: Jesus once said that he didn't know the day--the day of 00:47:35.98\00:47:39.19 his coming, but how could he not know the day of his own coming 00:47:39.22\00:47:42.09 if he knew everything that God does? 00:47:42.12\00:47:44.49 Doug: Well, when--he does know now, but when Christ was on 00:47:44.53\00:47:47.13 earth as a man, he--the incarnation. 00:47:47.13\00:47:49.96 I mean, think about it for a moment, when Jesus was a baby in 00:47:50.00\00:47:52.40 the manger, do you think he had all the knowledge of the cosmos 00:47:52.43\00:47:55.90 and all the knowledge of God swirling around his head? 00:47:55.94\00:47:58.47 He had to learn to talk like other babies. 00:47:58.51\00:48:00.71 So--and it says in, is it Philippians 00:48:00.74\00:48:03.41 where it says he laid aside his divinity? 00:48:03.45\00:48:08.18 He thought it not robbery to be equal with God. 00:48:08.22\00:48:11.65 I might be thinking of Colossians. 00:48:11.69\00:48:13.46 "But made himself of no reputation, 00:48:13.49\00:48:15.99 taking on the form of a servant." 00:48:16.02\00:48:17.66 So, Christ basically, when he was on earth as a human and he 00:48:17.69\00:48:21.30 said, "No one knows the day or the hour, I don't even know." 00:48:21.33\00:48:25.23 For one thing. 00:48:25.27\00:48:26.57 Jean: Philippians 2:7. Doug: Yeah. 00:48:26.60\00:48:27.90 What would Jesus say to the apostles? 00:48:27.94\00:48:29.30 Would he say, "Yeah, February 26, 00:48:29.34\00:48:31.34 1945 is when I'm coming or 2045"? 00:48:31.37\00:48:35.18 What would that mean to them? 00:48:35.21\00:48:37.08 I mean, how would--how would he even relate the date? 00:48:37.11\00:48:39.78 They didn't have that dating method. 00:48:39.81\00:48:41.62 So, does Jesus know the day and the hour of his coming? 00:48:41.65\00:48:44.49 Of course, I mean, you can't picture Jesus is up in heaven by 00:48:44.52\00:48:46.86 the Father and he's saying, "Please let 00:48:46.89\00:48:48.49 me know, when am I supposed to come?" 00:48:48.52\00:48:49.82 "No, can't show you yet, can't trust you." 00:48:49.86\00:48:51.99 Of course he knows, 00:48:52.03\00:48:53.33 but on earth as a man, he didn't know all that. 00:48:53.36\00:48:55.53 Jean: It had not been revealed to him. 00:48:55.56\00:48:58.07 All right, thank you. 00:48:58.10\00:48:59.50 Next caller that we have is Cindy, listening in Arizona. 00:48:59.53\00:49:02.17 Cindy, welcome to "Bible Answers Live." 00:49:02.20\00:49:05.84 Hold on a second. 00:49:05.87\00:49:07.18 We just had Cindy move real quick. 00:49:07.21\00:49:09.64 Do you have it there, Pastor Doug? 00:49:09.68\00:49:10.98 Doug: We've got callers coming in, so it shifts our names. 00:49:11.01\00:49:15.75 Well, let's-- 00:49:15.78\00:49:17.09 Jean: Oh, there it is, I found it. 00:49:17.12\00:49:18.42 Cindy in Arizona. Cindy, welcome to the program. 00:49:18.45\00:49:20.99 Cindy: Hi, can you hear me? 00:49:21.02\00:49:22.32 Doug: We do. Jean: We can hear you. 00:49:22.36\00:49:23.76 Cindy: Okay. 00:49:23.79\00:49:25.33 So, the question I have is around the crying of blood from 00:49:25.36\00:49:32.37 the ground, the spilling of innocent blood and the crying 00:49:32.40\00:49:35.74 out from the--from the grave, like Abel in Genesis 4. 00:49:35.77\00:49:40.21 And then I--I had mentioned Matthew 2, 00:49:40.24\00:49:45.81 I think it's 2:18 actually, where it mentions 00:49:45.85\00:49:47.55 Rachel and the last part of that. 00:49:47.58\00:49:48.88 Doug: Yes, crying for her children. 00:49:48.92\00:49:51.62 Cindy: Yeah, but I was wondering about Revelation, I think it's 9 00:49:51.65\00:49:55.59 through 10 because of the connection-- 00:49:55.62\00:49:58.29 Doug: The soul of those under the altar crying out? 00:49:58.33\00:50:01.40 Cindy: Yeah, and it's connection to abortion and, you 00:50:01.43\00:50:03.83 know, the 6th commandment, not killing. 00:50:03.87\00:50:08.24 So, do you think that those are the 63 plus million since 00:50:08.27\00:50:14.71 Roe versus Wade, 1973, do you think that could be? 00:50:14.74\00:50:19.85 Doug: Yeah, I think I understand 00:50:19.88\00:50:21.18 what you're asking, Cindy. 00:50:21.22\00:50:22.58 You know, when God said to Cain, "The blood of your brother, Abel 00:50:22.62\00:50:27.06 cries to me from the ground," he meant, the blood isn't little 00:50:27.09\00:50:30.26 blood cells aren't, you know, squeaking. 00:50:30.29\00:50:32.23 It wasn't talking about literally, it-- 00:50:32.26\00:50:34.40 it's a figure of speech that the innocent blood 00:50:34.46\00:50:38.30 of Abel was crying out for justice. 00:50:38.33\00:50:40.84 You've got the innocent blood of the children in the story of the 00:50:40.87\00:50:44.87 slaughter in Bethlehem crying out for justice. 00:50:44.91\00:50:48.74 Jesus had all the blood from Abel to Zachariah, the son of 00:50:48.78\00:50:53.11 Baraciah, who was an innocent prophet killed in Jerusalem, was 00:50:53.15\00:50:56.38 going to come on that generation, and 00:50:56.42\00:50:58.32 it did with the destruction of Jerusalem. 00:50:58.35\00:51:00.36 When you read in Revelation, is it chapter 9, where it's the 00:51:00.39\00:51:03.16 souls under the altars, is that 5? 00:51:03.19\00:51:04.96 Jean: Chapter 6. Doug: Chapter 6. 00:51:04.99\00:51:06.63 When you read about the souls under the altar, it's again, 00:51:06.66\00:51:10.87 it's a symbol for the martyrs, those who have died for the 00:51:10.90\00:51:13.64 cause of Christ, but the innocent blood of unborn 00:51:13.67\00:51:18.97 children, that is also crying out for justice. 00:51:19.01\00:51:22.18 That verse in particular I don't think he's talking about that, 00:51:22.21\00:51:25.68 but certainly God has record of any injustice and innocent 00:51:25.71\00:51:31.32 blood, and there'll be a payday for that. 00:51:31.35\00:51:33.92 Jean: Yeah, from the broader context, you know, we're talking 00:51:33.96\00:51:35.82 about the first seal in the sequence of events, if you kind 00:51:35.86\00:51:38.33 of follow through the chronology, it's talking about a 00:51:38.36\00:51:40.83 time of severe persecution that came upon Bible believing 00:51:40.86\00:51:43.70 Christians, during the time of the Reformation and even before, 00:51:43.73\00:51:47.74 and that fits into that time frame. 00:51:47.77\00:51:49.94 Could it refer to, you know, the broader 00:51:49.97\00:51:52.47 aspect of just innocent life being taken? 00:51:52.51\00:51:56.61 Possibly, but more specifically-- 00:51:56.64\00:51:57.95 Doug: The principle is the same. 00:51:57.98\00:51:59.21 Jean: Yeah, it's relating to the martyrs during that time period. 00:51:59.25\00:52:02.55 Doug: Thank you Cindy, hope that helps a little and maybe we 00:52:02.58\00:52:04.95 have time for one more before our first sign off. 00:52:04.99\00:52:08.02 Jean: All right, we got Darryll listening in Florida. 00:52:08.06\00:52:09.72 Darryll, welcome to the program. 00:52:09.76\00:52:12.23 Darryl: Hey, Pastor Doug and Pastor Jean. 00:52:12.26\00:52:16.03 So, we know that God and God only can forgive sin, but how do 00:52:16.06\00:52:20.37 we reconcile when Jesus gave the disciples the authority to 00:52:20.40\00:52:24.87 forgive sin in John chapter 20, verse 23? 00:52:24.91\00:52:28.38 And then, once he gives them that authority, it was only-- 00:52:28.41\00:52:32.95 was it only those disciples or was it from that point forward 00:52:32.98\00:52:38.69 that Jesus, if you were a disciple of 00:52:38.72\00:52:41.36 Jesus, you had the ability to forgive sin? 00:52:41.39\00:52:44.26 And then the next idea that comes into my head, maybe this 00:52:44.29\00:52:48.03 is why some certain priests think they 00:52:48.06\00:52:51.07 have the ability to forgive people sins? 00:52:51.10\00:52:54.94 Doug: Yeah, let me quote this for our friends 00:52:54.97\00:52:56.50 that are listening and this is in Matthew chapter-- 00:52:56.54\00:52:59.57 I'm sorry, John chapter 20, verse 22. 00:52:59.61\00:53:03.28 It says, "And when he said this, he breathed on 00:53:03.31\00:53:04.95 them and said to them, 'Receive the Holy Spirit. 00:53:04.98\00:53:08.52 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven of them. 00:53:08.55\00:53:11.99 If you retain the sins of any, they are retained.'" 00:53:12.02\00:53:14.82 Now that has been quoted by the Catholic Church and probably 00:53:14.86\00:53:17.39 others as proof that apostles and priests can forgive sins. 00:53:17.43\00:53:23.90 But, I do believe that Christians can forgive. 00:53:23.93\00:53:28.17 You know, keep in mind, Christ says when you bring your gift to 00:53:28.20\00:53:31.17 the altar, if you have ought with your 00:53:31.21\00:53:32.84 brother, go be reconciled to your brother. 00:53:32.87\00:53:34.84 And in the Lord's prayer it says, "Forgive 00:53:34.88\00:53:36.24 us our debts as we forgive our debtors." 00:53:36.28\00:53:39.35 So, there's a way for us to forgive 00:53:39.38\00:53:41.15 each other offenses against us. 00:53:41.18\00:53:43.49 In preaching the Gospel, we are passing 00:53:43.52\00:53:45.72 on the forgiveness of God to others. 00:53:45.75\00:53:48.92 In neglecting to preach the Gospel, they're not having that 00:53:48.96\00:53:53.06 benefit so, in as much as apostles and believers share the 00:53:53.09\00:53:59.17 Gospel of forgiveness, people receive forgiveness, and when we 00:53:59.20\00:54:02.90 fail to do that, or neglect to do that they 00:54:02.94\00:54:05.51 are--they are--they lose that benefit. 00:54:05.54\00:54:08.51 I don't know, what are your thoughts? 00:54:08.54\00:54:09.84 Jean: Yeah, absolutely. 00:54:09.88\00:54:11.18 I think it also has a reference here to 00:54:11.21\00:54:12.68 church authority or church leadership. 00:54:12.71\00:54:14.32 Not that the church can forgive or not forgive, but if 00:54:14.35\00:54:17.82 somebody is living in open violation and the church has 00:54:17.85\00:54:20.32 spoken to them and they refuse to repent, 00:54:20.36\00:54:22.59 and the church decides to remove them from 00:54:22.62\00:54:24.66 membership, that is a serious thing. 00:54:24.69\00:54:27.50 And Christ did give his church the ability to, 00:54:27.50\00:54:30.13 in that case, protect the flock and also be 00:54:30.17\00:54:33.27 faithful to the truth, to the Word. 00:54:33.30\00:54:35.00 Doug: Yeah, Matthew 18:18, "Whatever you bind on earth will 00:54:35.04\00:54:37.91 be bound in heaven, whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in 00:54:37.94\00:54:40.11 heaven," and that's in the context of the church forgiving. 00:54:40.14\00:54:44.48 I hope that helps, listening friends. 00:54:44.51\00:54:45.85 Now, I always like to explain just so people understand. 00:54:45.88\00:54:49.45 "Bible Answers Live" is on hundreds of 00:54:49.48\00:54:51.12 stations, on the Internet, we're on satellite radio, 00:54:51.15\00:54:54.29 and we're on land-based stations. 00:54:54.32\00:54:55.99 Because of the clocks, we sign off on satellite first. 00:54:56.02\00:54:59.53 So, we'll say God bless and farewell to all those listening 00:54:59.56\00:55:02.20 on satellite radio, but we're going to stay by and do rapid 00:55:02.23\00:55:05.43 fire Bible questions in just a moment, so 00:55:05.47\00:55:07.90 don't go anywhere, we are coming back. 00:55:07.94\00:55:10.17 ¤¤¤ 00:55:10.21\00:55:13.17 announcer: Thank you for listening to today's broadcast. 00:55:13.21\00:55:15.64 We hope you understand your Bible even better than before. 00:55:15.68\00:55:19.08 "Bible Answers Live" is produced by Amazing Facts International, 00:55:19.11\00:55:23.22 a faith-based ministry located in Granite Bay, California. 00:55:23.25\00:55:27.56 Jean: Hello friends and welcome 00:55:28.92\00:55:30.23 back to "Bible Answers Live." 00:55:30.26\00:55:31.83 For those of you who are staying around for the 00:55:31.86\00:55:33.29 next few minutes, we're going to answer some of 00:55:33.33\00:55:35.10 the e-mail questions that you sent us. 00:55:35.13\00:55:37.13 If you'd like to send us an e-mail question, our e-mail 00:55:37.17\00:55:39.40 address is balquestions@amazingfacts.org. 00:55:39.43\00:55:44.14 Pastor Doug, first question that we have, it's a tough one. 00:55:44.17\00:55:46.41 It says, "How do you handle or how do I handle my 31 year old 00:55:46.44\00:55:49.28 daughter who is now transitioning into a man?" 00:55:49.31\00:55:53.62 Doug: Well, you know, that's heartbreaking, and if you're 00:55:53.65\00:55:57.25 asking for a Bible answer, I would say that, 00:55:57.29\00:56:00.09 you know, we need to love people. 00:56:00.12\00:56:01.96 Obviously, you don't love sin, and you certainly don't love 00:56:01.99\00:56:06.36 where someone might be going through medical or chemical 00:56:06.39\00:56:11.77 procedures to try to alter their gender because 00:56:11.80\00:56:13.90 it's really a--it's an effort of futility. 00:56:13.94\00:56:16.30 You cannot alter your gender. 00:56:16.34\00:56:18.61 The genes of men and women are different all the way down to 00:56:18.64\00:56:23.31 the very basic level, the chromosomes. 00:56:23.35\00:56:26.01 And so they're finding out more and more people that are trying 00:56:26.05\00:56:30.32 to transition are now trying to untransition, 00:56:30.35\00:56:33.29 because they're not finding the fulfillment. 00:56:33.32\00:56:36.12 I would say just be there to show unconditional love. 00:56:36.16\00:56:39.83 While I know you don't approve of sin and what your values are, 00:56:39.86\00:56:43.83 you want to support them as a human being, 00:56:43.87\00:56:45.47 so you're there for them afterward, if 00:56:45.50\00:56:48.40 they're looking for love and encouragement. 00:56:48.44\00:56:52.07 Jean: Okay, very good. 00:56:52.11\00:56:53.74 Here is a question Aunt Nancy is asking, she said, did God 00:56:53.78\00:56:56.51 breathe the breath of life into all animals as well? 00:56:56.54\00:57:00.48 Doug: Yeah, that breath of life, that God, it's says, "God 00:57:00.52\00:57:02.92 formed Adam from the elements of the earth, the clay, 00:57:02.95\00:57:06.12 he breathed into his nostrils the breath of 00:57:06.15\00:57:08.02 life and man became a living soul." 00:57:08.06\00:57:11.76 Yes, that breath of life was not only given to man, but you read 00:57:11.79\00:57:15.73 in Ecclesiastes that when any creature dies, the breath, it 00:57:15.76\00:57:19.77 says the spirit returns to God who gave 00:57:19.80\00:57:21.97 it, and the body returns to the earth. 00:57:22.00\00:57:25.64 And so, the body decomposes and 00:57:25.67\00:57:27.68 the breath of life returns to God. 00:57:27.71\00:57:29.28 And that says to man and beast, in Ecclesiastes, 00:57:29.31\00:57:33.98 they have the breath of life, obviously. 00:57:34.02\00:57:36.48 Jean: Okay, another question, John is asking, 00:57:36.52\00:57:39.22 are we to be afraid of evil spirits? 00:57:39.25\00:57:42.26 Doug: No. 00:57:42.29\00:57:43.69 First of all, Jesus said, "Fear not, 00:57:43.73\00:57:45.16 fear not, fear not, fear not." 00:57:45.19\00:57:47.30 You know, I don't think we should dabble 00:57:47.30\00:57:49.06 with or try to confront or communicate 00:57:49.10\00:57:50.87 with evil spirits, but just know they're there. 00:57:50.90\00:57:55.40 Good news is there's more good spirits than evil spirits, 00:57:55.44\00:57:58.17 meaning there's more good angels than evil angels. 00:57:58.21\00:58:01.11 And so, yeah, the Bible tells us, "He that is in you is 00:58:01.14\00:58:05.78 greater than he that is in the world," so 00:58:05.81\00:58:08.08 we don't need to be afraid of the devil. 00:58:08.12\00:58:09.72 Resist the devil, he'll flee from you, friends. 00:58:09.75\00:58:12.25 God bless, we hope that you will return next week 00:58:12.29\00:58:15.62 as we continue to study God's Word. 00:58:15.66\00:58:17.79 announcer: "Bible Answers Live," honest 00:58:21.10\00:58:23.26 and accurate answers to your Bible questions. 00:58:23.30\00:58:26.30
