¤¤¤ 00:00:00.66\00:00:02.90 male announcer: It is the best-selling book in history. 00:00:02.93\00:00:05.63 No volume ever written has been more loved and quoted, 00:00:05.67\00:00:09.60 and its words, sometimes simple and sometimes mysterious, 00:00:09.64\00:00:13.58 should always be studied carefully. 00:00:13.61\00:00:16.48 It is the Bible, the Word of God. 00:00:16.51\00:00:19.71 Welcome to "Bible Answers Live," providing accurate and practical 00:00:19.75\00:00:24.32 answers to all your Bible questions. 00:00:24.35\00:00:28.42 This broadcast is a previously-recorded episode. 00:00:28.46\00:00:31.29 To receive any of the Bible resources mentioned in this 00:00:31.33\00:00:33.86 broadcast, call 800-835-6747. 00:00:33.90\00:00:38.80 Once again, that's 800-835-6747. 00:00:38.83\00:00:44.04 Now, here is your host from Amazing Facts International, 00:00:44.07\00:00:47.94 Pastor Doug Batchelor. 00:00:47.98\00:00:49.94 Doug Batchelor: Hello, friends. 00:00:49.98\00:00:51.41 Would you like to hear an amazing fact? 00:00:51.45\00:00:54.35 On May 1st, 2023, a plane carrying seven crushed in the 00:00:54.38\00:00:58.85 Amazon jungle of Colombia. 00:00:58.89\00:01:00.99 The soldiers located the wreck and the bodies of three adults, 00:01:01.02\00:01:04.73 but the four children ages 1 to 13 were missing. 00:01:04.76\00:01:08.96 In a coordinated search effort called "Operation Hope," 00:01:09.00\00:01:11.93 soldiers and indigenous people covered approximately 00:01:11.97\00:01:14.70 1,650 miles while looking for the siblings. 00:01:14.74\00:01:19.07 Incredibly, 40 days later after tracking little footprints, 00:01:19.11\00:01:23.51 soldiers located the four children alive. 00:01:23.55\00:01:26.75 They were very gaunt and dehydrated, but they were 00:01:26.78\00:01:29.15 expected to make a full recovery. 00:01:29.18\00:01:31.09 They suffered only minor cuts and scrapes from the crash. 00:01:31.12\00:01:34.46 Officials especially praised 13-year-old Leslie for ensuring 00:01:34.49\00:01:38.36 survival of her younger siblings 9, 5, and 11 months old. 00:01:38.39\00:01:43.70 Because of their indigenous background, the children 00:01:43.73\00:01:46.13 had some familiarity with the rainforest fruits. 00:01:46.17\00:01:49.40 This plus some cassava flour were the key to their 00:01:49.44\00:01:52.64 extraordinary survival in an area where snakes, jaguars, 00:01:52.67\00:01:56.34 mosquitoes, and other animals abound. 00:01:56.38\00:01:58.71 Because the children lost their mother, the president of 00:01:58.75\00:02:01.58 Colombia has committed funds for the care of the children 00:02:01.62\00:02:04.62 and to educate them. 00:02:04.65\00:02:06.62 You know, Pastor Ross, I think this is just amazing. 00:02:06.65\00:02:08.79 You know, they were 40 days and 40 nights in the wilderness. 00:02:08.82\00:02:12.03 Jëan Ross: That's right, Pastor Doug. 00:02:12.06\00:02:13.53 It's just--it's remarkable for a grown-up to be able to survive 00:02:13.56\00:02:15.93 under those conditions for 40 days let alone three kids, the 00:02:15.96\00:02:19.70 younger of which you said was what, 14 months? 00:02:19.73\00:02:22.70 Doug: The younger--11 months. 00:02:22.74\00:02:24.51 Actually he turned 1 year old during the 40 days. 00:02:24.54\00:02:26.74 Jëan: That is amazing, yeah. 00:02:26.78\00:02:28.41 So there were angels unseen that undoubtably were protecting them 00:02:28.44\00:02:31.78 from just the wild animals and all the things that could 00:02:31.81\00:02:33.98 destroy them there. 00:02:34.02\00:02:35.62 Doug: So when we hear 40 days in the wilderness--well, you can 00:02:35.65\00:02:38.05 think about the children of Israel were 40 years in the 00:02:38.09\00:02:41.26 wilderness, but you've got Jesus fasting in the wilderness 00:02:41.29\00:02:44.99 for 40 days and 40 nights. 00:02:45.03\00:02:47.13 And you can read in Mark 1, verse 12 and 13 after his 00:02:47.20\00:02:50.60 baptism, "Immediately the Spirit of God drove him 00:02:50.63\00:02:54.07 into the wilderness. 00:02:54.10\00:02:55.70 And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted 00:02:55.74\00:02:58.44 by Satan, and was with the wild beasts; and the angels 00:02:58.47\00:03:02.08 ministered to him." 00:03:02.11\00:03:04.01 I'm pretty sure angels took care of those kids out there. 00:03:04.05\00:03:06.11 Jëan: That's right. 00:03:06.15\00:03:07.55 Doug: And you get the story where Elijah ran into the 00:03:07.58\00:03:09.78 wilderness and angels fed him. 00:03:09.82\00:03:12.32 And then, of course, Moses was 40 days and 40 nights up on the 00:03:12.35\00:03:15.49 mountain, actually two times, getting the Ten Commandments. 00:03:15.52\00:03:20.30 And you see a picture then in the New Testament, the three 00:03:20.33\00:03:25.20 individuals had fasted 40 days, 40 nights in the Bible are all 00:03:25.23\00:03:28.94 on the mountain together, Moses, Elijah, and Jesus, 00:03:28.97\00:03:34.61 in what they call the Mount of Transfiguration. 00:03:34.64\00:03:37.41 And many people are surprised to know they are the two witnesses. 00:03:37.45\00:03:41.45 Moses and Elijah is a symbol of the two witnesses that you find 00:03:41.48\00:03:45.49 in Revelation chapter 11. 00:03:45.52\00:03:47.99 Jëan: That's right, Pastor Doug. 00:03:48.02\00:03:49.52 That is a great study. 00:03:49.56\00:03:51.06 You just mentioned a few of the similarities between Moses and 00:03:51.09\00:03:52.76 Elijah and Christ. 00:03:52.79\00:03:54.30 What else is interesting is you have Moses who died and he was 00:03:54.36\00:03:56.70 resurrected and taken to heaven, and of course Elijah was taken 00:03:56.73\00:03:59.50 to heaven without seeing death. 00:03:59.53\00:04:01.47 It's obviously a miniature of the second coming because it's 00:04:01.50\00:04:03.77 going to be those who are resurrected when Jesus comes 00:04:03.81\00:04:05.81 again and there will be those who will be translated 00:04:05.84\00:04:08.78 without seeing death. 00:04:08.81\00:04:10.61 So you almost got a picture here of the second coming of Christ. 00:04:10.65\00:04:13.35 So much to this story that we read about. 00:04:13.38\00:04:15.85 We have a book. 00:04:15.88\00:04:17.22 It's called "The Two Witnesses," and it's all about Moses, 00:04:17.25\00:04:19.85 Elijah, Jesus there on the Mount of Transfiguration. 00:04:19.89\00:04:22.66 That is our free gift for anyone who is listening. 00:04:22.69\00:04:25.69 All you need to do is call the number, 800-835-6747, 00:04:25.73\00:04:30.83 and you can ask for offer number 195. 00:04:30.87\00:04:33.17 We'll be happy to send it to anyone here who is 00:04:33.20\00:04:35.37 in the US and Canada. 00:04:35.40\00:04:37.27 If you're outside of the United States, just be sure to visit 00:04:37.31\00:04:40.28 our website at AmazingFacts.org. 00:04:40.31\00:04:43.24 Another way that you can get the free offer is by simply dialing 00:04:43.28\00:04:46.05 #250 on your smartphone and say "Bible Answers Live" 00:04:46.08\00:04:50.62 and then ask for the free gift. 00:04:50.65\00:04:52.09 It's called "The Two Witnesses." 00:04:52.12\00:04:53.99 And we'll be happy to send that to anyone who calls and asks. 00:04:54.02\00:04:58.36 Well, Pastor Doug, before we get to our phone lines, as we always 00:04:58.39\00:05:01.06 do we'd like to begin the program with a word of prayer. 00:05:01.10\00:05:03.63 So let's do that now. 00:05:03.67\00:05:05.27 Dear Father, what a joy it is for us to be able to open up 00:05:05.30\00:05:07.27 Your Word and study together, and, Lord, 00:05:07.30\00:05:09.14 we ask for Your blessing. 00:05:09.17\00:05:10.64 We recognize the Bible is Your book. 00:05:10.67\00:05:12.47 You inspired the prophets of old who wrote it. 00:05:12.51\00:05:14.41 And so we pray for that same Spirit to come and guide us as 00:05:14.44\00:05:16.91 we search the Scriptures. 00:05:16.95\00:05:18.38 Be with those who are listening wherever they might be, 00:05:18.41\00:05:20.12 and we ask this in Jesus's name, amen? 00:05:20.15\00:05:22.38 Doug: Amen. 00:05:22.42\00:05:24.15 Jëan: I think we're ready to go to our first caller this 00:05:24.19\00:05:25.82 evening, Pastor Doug. 00:05:25.85\00:05:27.49 We have got Cristi listening in Canada. 00:05:27.52\00:05:29.56 Cristi, welcome to the program. 00:05:29.59\00:05:31.79 Cristi: Hi, pastors. 00:05:31.83\00:05:33.33 Doug: Hi, thanks for calling, Cristi. 00:05:33.36\00:05:35.10 And your question tonight? 00:05:35.13\00:05:37.23 Cristi: My question is the validity of Jeremiah chapter 29, 00:05:37.27\00:05:41.87 verse 11 and how to trust in the Lord as David did in Psalms 31 00:05:41.90\00:05:46.84 despite the verbal criticisms of others. 00:05:46.88\00:05:50.88 As the adversities I see in the Bible kind of contrasts, 00:05:50.91\00:05:54.78 I guess, in the literal sense-- as it complies with 00:05:54.82\00:05:59.05 school and my grades and my future, 00:05:59.09\00:06:02.36 as I grow despondent of such matters 00:06:02.39\00:06:04.89 and, you know, worry since I'm not making the ideal grades even 00:06:04.93\00:06:08.83 though I try my hardest and pray while reminding myself 00:06:08.86\00:06:12.47 of the promises of God. 00:06:12.50\00:06:15.40 Doug: Well, that's a good question and, you know, if-- 00:06:15.44\00:06:19.44 when you pray and you trust God 00:06:19.47\00:06:21.44 and you still find yourself struggling, 00:06:21.48\00:06:23.85 don't be discouraged, 00:06:23.88\00:06:25.31 because there's many examples in the Bible 00:06:25.35\00:06:26.98 of people that prayed several times 00:06:27.02\00:06:28.95 before they experienced an answer. 00:06:28.98\00:06:31.12 You can read about the children of Israel, and there was quite a 00:06:31.15\00:06:34.16 while that they were crying unto the Lord for deliverance 00:06:34.19\00:06:36.83 and says then the Lord heard their prayer. 00:06:36.86\00:06:38.63 Sometimes during the time of waiting God 00:06:38.66\00:06:41.43 is building our faith. 00:06:41.46\00:06:43.73 There is a story in the Bible about blind Bartimaeus. 00:06:43.77\00:06:46.50 And Jesus was passing by, and he was crying out and people told 00:06:46.53\00:06:50.14 him to be quiet, but he kept crying out, and then God stopped 00:06:50.17\00:06:56.01 and Jesus brought him and healed him. 00:06:56.04\00:06:58.98 You wonder, why did the Lord make him cry out several times? 00:06:59.01\00:07:02.72 And there is a parable Jesus shares in Luke chapter 18 about 00:07:02.75\00:07:05.79 the widow that continues to go to the judge and say, 00:07:05.82\00:07:09.66 "Give me justice. 00:07:09.69\00:07:11.29 Deal with my adversary." 00:07:11.33\00:07:12.76 And then finally the judge says, "Well, she is wearing me down. 00:07:12.79\00:07:17.40 I'm going to answer." 00:07:17.43\00:07:18.83 And God says how much more will the Lord answer the prayers 00:07:18.87\00:07:21.00 of those that cry unto him day and night. 00:07:21.04\00:07:23.44 So don't be discouraged, Cristi. 00:07:23.47\00:07:25.87 You can trust what it says there in Jeremiah 11--or 29, verse 11. 00:07:25.91\00:07:30.48 He promises, "You'll search for Me and you'll find Me when you 00:07:30.51\00:07:33.48 search for Me with all your heart," in verse 13. 00:07:33.52\00:07:36.22 Just continue to pursue God and you will see peace and answers. 00:07:36.25\00:07:40.59 Jëan: You know, Cristi, we do have a book for anyone 00:07:40.62\00:07:42.46 who is listening, and it's about prayer. 00:07:42.49\00:07:44.26 You mentioned prayer and persistence in prayer is one of 00:07:44.29\00:07:47.83 the important principles that we find in the Bible, 00:07:47.86\00:07:50.30 and we have a book written called "Teach Us to Pray." 00:07:50.33\00:07:52.40 And we'll be happy to send this to anyone in the US or Canada. 00:07:52.43\00:07:55.27 The number to call for that is 800-835-6747, 00:07:55.30\00:07:59.37 and you can ask for the book. 00:07:59.41\00:08:01.04 It's called "Teach Us to Pray." 00:08:01.08\00:08:02.64 Or just dial #250 on your smartphone, say "Bible Answers 00:08:02.68\00:08:06.48 Live," and then ask for the book "Teach Us to Pray." 00:08:06.51\00:08:09.98 And we'll be happy to send that to anyone who calls. 00:08:10.02\00:08:12.32 Take advantage of it. 00:08:12.35\00:08:13.92 It's a great book. 00:08:13.96\00:08:15.49 Next caller that we have is Kaela listening in Tennessee. 00:08:15.52\00:08:17.89 Kaela, you are on "Bible Answers Live." 00:08:17.93\00:08:20.40 Kaela: Hi, my question is: Where did Elijah get the water 00:08:20.43\00:08:25.20 for the offering on Mount Carmel? 00:08:25.23\00:08:27.84 Doug: Yeah, just for our friends listening, 00:08:27.87\00:08:29.54 I'll set this up so they have the background. 00:08:29.57\00:08:32.24 But there is a big showdown on Mount Carmel during 3 1/2 years 00:08:32.27\00:08:35.81 of severe famine where Elijah called together all the prophets 00:08:35.84\00:08:41.28 of Baal, this false god, and they prayed 00:08:41.32\00:08:44.79 and nothing happened with their altar. 00:08:44.82\00:08:46.82 They were supposed to pray and fire would come down, 00:08:46.86\00:08:48.46 but there was no fire. 00:08:48.49\00:08:49.79 But Elijah said, "I'm going to pray for fire 00:08:49.82\00:08:51.36 to come on God's altar. 00:08:51.39\00:08:52.73 But to prove it's God, we're going to put 00:08:52.76\00:08:54.46 three barrels of water." 00:08:54.50\00:08:57.00 You figure like, you know, three big oil barrels of water were 00:08:57.03\00:08:59.57 dumped on this altar to show that it was a supernatural fire. 00:08:59.60\00:09:02.60 But it's a famine. 00:09:02.64\00:09:04.04 Where is the water coming from? 00:09:04.07\00:09:05.41 Well, the famine there was no food, there was no rain. 00:09:05.44\00:09:07.51 Nothing was growing. 00:09:07.54\00:09:08.91 There was still water in the wells and in the springs 00:09:08.94\00:09:12.11 not too far away from Mount Carmel. 00:09:12.15\00:09:14.98 You not only have the ocean down the hill, doesn't say it was 00:09:15.02\00:09:17.59 fresh water, could have been salt water, and you've also got 00:09:17.62\00:09:19.82 the Gihon spring and the creek there, 00:09:19.85\00:09:23.63 and it probably still had water in it. 00:09:23.66\00:09:25.83 So they, you know-- and all the people gathered 00:09:25.86\00:09:28.56 up there on the mountain. 00:09:28.60\00:09:30.10 The king probably had bought some--brought some water 00:09:30.13\00:09:33.03 so the people would have something to drink up there. 00:09:33.07\00:09:35.74 So there is a few different options, but Bible says that 00:09:35.77\00:09:38.21 they had water. 00:09:38.24\00:09:39.91 They just didn't have any food. 00:09:39.94\00:09:41.58 Jëan: All right, thank you. 00:09:41.61\00:09:43.11 Next caller that we have is Brittany, 00:09:43.14\00:09:44.55 listening in California. 00:09:44.58\00:09:45.88 Brittany, welcome to the program. 00:09:45.91\00:09:47.82 Brittany: Hey. Doug: Hi. 00:09:47.85\00:09:50.75 Brittany: Yeah, mine is: If dogs are unclean, 00:09:50.79\00:09:53.69 and Revelation 22:15 condemns dogs, 00:09:53.72\00:09:57.63 will there--will our pets be in heaven? 00:09:57.66\00:10:01.00 Doug: All right, and says there in Revelation 00:10:01.03\00:10:02.93 that the dogs are outside. 00:10:02.96\00:10:05.47 And does that mean there'll be no dogs in heaven, 00:10:05.50\00:10:07.34 or will our pets be in heaven? 00:10:07.37\00:10:09.27 You've got a couple of questions here. 00:10:09.30\00:10:10.87 First of all, what is it talking about when it talks about dogs 00:10:10.91\00:10:14.04 outside of the New Jerusalem? 00:10:14.08\00:10:16.28 The word dogs there is not even talking about people. 00:10:16.31\00:10:20.18 You can look where Jesus and even some of the Old Testament 00:10:20.22\00:10:25.69 people in the prophecy about Christ--when they were around 00:10:25.72\00:10:29.26 the cross persecuting Jesus it says, 00:10:29.29\00:10:31.63 "Dogs have encompassed me." 00:10:31.66\00:10:33.96 That's talking about people that kind of rip and tear into you. 00:10:34.00\00:10:36.16 So it's an analogy of evil, vicious people. 00:10:36.20\00:10:40.80 And even Christ said you don't give the children's food 00:10:40.84\00:10:43.20 to the dogs. 00:10:43.24\00:10:44.77 He was talking about the unbelievers. 00:10:44.81\00:10:46.24 So when it says dogs are outside the city, don't be thinking 00:10:46.27\00:10:48.44 of canine or pooches. 00:10:48.48\00:10:50.65 It's talking about evil people. 00:10:50.68\00:10:53.55 Will there be dogs in heaven? 00:10:53.58\00:10:55.05 God made dogs. 00:10:55.08\00:10:56.69 I'm sure there'll be dogs in heaven. 00:10:56.72\00:10:58.12 Will your pets be in heaven? 00:10:58.15\00:10:59.55 That's another question. 00:10:59.59\00:11:00.99 No Scripture that guarantees that God is going 00:11:01.02\00:11:02.49 to resurrect your pets. 00:11:02.52\00:11:04.16 There's no Scripture that says God can't do that. 00:11:04.19\00:11:06.73 So just--when you get to heaven, I'll promise you 00:11:06.76\00:11:10.53 you will be happy. 00:11:10.57\00:11:12.37 So don't be discouraged or worried. 00:11:12.40\00:11:14.80 Jëan: That's right, Pastor Doug. 00:11:14.84\00:11:16.34 The Bible says eye has not seen nor ear heard, neither entered 00:11:16.37\00:11:18.57 into the heart of man the things that God is preparing 00:11:18.61\00:11:20.51 for those that love Him. 00:11:20.54\00:11:22.48 No one's going to get to heaven and say, 00:11:22.51\00:11:24.08 "Oh, man, I was expecting something different. 00:11:24.11\00:11:26.85 It's not quite what I envisioned." 00:11:26.88\00:11:28.42 No, it's going to be everything that you can--you can't even 00:11:28.45\00:11:30.45 imagine the things that God has prepared 00:11:30.49\00:11:32.42 for those that love Him. 00:11:32.45\00:11:33.99 So we just need to get there. 00:11:34.02\00:11:35.49 Next caller that we have is Glenn listening in Ohio. 00:11:35.52\00:11:37.83 Glenn, welcome to the program. 00:11:37.86\00:11:40.96 Glenn: Thank you for taking my call. 00:11:40.96\00:11:42.50 And I tell you, Amazing Facts is wonderful. 00:11:42.53\00:11:45.07 Not above Yahweh. 00:11:45.10\00:11:47.17 He's able and He did it again. 00:11:47.20\00:11:50.07 You know, my question is a little bit strange. 00:11:50.11\00:11:55.88 I don't think that God was very knowledgeable of such a thing 00:11:55.91\00:12:00.08 as sin as evidenced by the Scripture that the Savior 00:12:00.12\00:12:03.32 claimed from before the foundation of the world, 00:12:03.35\00:12:06.35 but I wonder--my question is I wonder what was on His mind 00:12:06.39\00:12:09.96 when He allowed Satan to introduce sin to the creation. 00:12:09.99\00:12:14.56 Doug: Well, I won't pretend that I could read God's mind. 00:12:14.56\00:12:17.27 It tells us that, you know, God is passed finding out. 00:12:17.30\00:12:20.60 His ways are higher than our ways as the heavens 00:12:20.64\00:12:23.27 are above the earth. 00:12:23.30\00:12:25.04 And I think the nearest star is four light years away, which 00:12:25.07\00:12:27.98 means if you travel 186,000 miles a second it's going 00:12:28.01\00:12:31.45 to take you 4 years to get to the nearest star. 00:12:31.48\00:12:33.92 So God is infinite, but in His wisdom God knew that He would 00:12:33.95\00:12:39.49 have to take the risk of making creatures--even powerful 00:12:39.52\00:12:42.29 creatures like Lucifer that might choose not to love Him 00:12:42.32\00:12:45.79 because they're free. 00:12:45.83\00:12:47.93 And we are all free moral agents. 00:12:47.96\00:12:50.20 And so Lucifer is exhibit A that God makes us with a freedom 00:12:50.23\00:12:55.20 to love Him, and Lucifer loved God probably for, you know, 00:12:55.24\00:12:58.71 millennia before he rebelled. 00:12:58.74\00:13:00.51 We don't know. 00:13:00.54\00:13:02.11 He was one of the highest angels. 00:13:02.14\00:13:03.38 He was probably around a long time before the seeds of pride 00:13:03.41\00:13:05.88 and rebellion grew in his heart. 00:13:05.91\00:13:08.72 Jëan: Yes, we do have a study guide that talks about that, 00:13:08.75\00:13:10.45 Pastor Doug. 00:13:10.49\00:13:11.95 It's called "Did God Create the Devil?" 00:13:11.99\00:13:13.56 And sometimes people think of the devil, they think of Satan, 00:13:13.59\00:13:15.59 they say, "Well, did God create him bad?" 00:13:15.62\00:13:17.43 No, that's not what the Bible teaches. 00:13:17.46\00:13:19.23 God created a beautiful angelic being, the highest of all the 00:13:19.26\00:13:22.66 angels, but He created Lucifer and the others angels with 00:13:22.70\00:13:26.53 freedom of choice, and he exercised that choice 00:13:26.57\00:13:29.27 to rebel against God. 00:13:29.30\00:13:30.97 We'll be happy to send that to anyone who calls and asks. 00:13:31.01\00:13:33.07 The study guide is called "Did God Create the Devil?" 00:13:33.11\00:13:35.64 And the number to call is 800-835-6747 00:13:35.68\00:13:39.78 and ask for that study guide "Did God Create the Devil?" 00:13:39.81\00:13:42.28 You can also dial #250 and just say "Study guide--" 00:13:42.32\00:13:46.12 or say "Bible Answers Live" 00:13:46.15\00:13:47.86 and then say "Study guide, Did God Create a Devil?" 00:13:47.89\00:13:50.79 And we'll make sure that we get that to you. 00:13:50.83\00:13:53.16 Doug: By the way, Pastor Ross, we also have a video 00:13:53.19\00:13:55.10 online people can watch called "Cosmic Conflict." 00:13:55.13\00:13:58.10 You can just go to YouTube or go to Amazing Facts 00:13:58.13\00:14:00.74 and type in "Cosmic Conflict." 00:14:00.77\00:14:02.77 I think it's the first thing that will come up on YouTube, 00:14:02.80\00:14:05.14 and it explains how the devil came to be the devil. 00:14:05.17\00:14:09.94 So you'll enjoy that. 00:14:09.98\00:14:11.45 Jëan: All right, our next caller that we have is Dennis, 00:14:11.48\00:14:13.25 listening in South Carolina. 00:14:13.28\00:14:14.85 Dennis, you're on the air. 00:14:14.88\00:14:17.42 Dennis: Hey, Pastor Doug and Pastor Ross. 00:14:17.45\00:14:20.92 How are you? 00:14:20.96\00:14:22.42 Doug: Good, thank you for calling. 00:14:22.46\00:14:24.23 Dennis: Well, my question is real quick. 00:14:24.26\00:14:26.80 So I'm on this group on Facebook and everybody has different 00:14:26.83\00:14:29.76 opinions and beliefs, but it is my understanding that the Great 00:14:29.80\00:14:35.77 Tribulation is a great tribulation for the believers 00:14:35.80\00:14:39.51 because we'll be being persecuted by the unbelievers, 00:14:39.54\00:14:44.85 and it'd be a great tribulation for the unbelievers 00:14:44.88\00:14:48.12 because they are going to experience the wrath of God 00:14:48.15\00:14:51.55 via the plagues. 00:14:51.59\00:14:54.92 Doug: Well, yeah, the Bible speaks of these 00:14:54.96\00:14:57.66 two great tribulations. 00:14:57.69\00:14:59.66 Jesus talks about a historic great tribulation that went from 00:14:59.69\00:15:04.50 538 to like 1798 during this tremendous religious persecution 00:15:04.53\00:15:10.21 throughout the Roman-- fallen Roman Empire. 00:15:10.24\00:15:14.14 May have been called Papal Rome at that time. 00:15:14.18\00:15:16.44 But there's a lot of religious persecution 00:15:16.48\00:15:18.45 that the church went through. 00:15:18.48\00:15:19.98 He also talks about a great tribulation the Jews 00:15:20.02\00:15:21.65 went through. 00:15:21.68\00:15:23.32 So he's also telling the apostles that Jerusalem was 00:15:23.35\00:15:26.15 going to fall and they go through a great tribulation. 00:15:26.19\00:15:28.49 But there's a final great tribulation you read about in 00:15:28.52\00:15:31.19 Daniel chapter 12, says that Michael will stand up. 00:15:31.23\00:15:34.73 I think this is verse 1. 00:15:34.73\00:15:36.93 Michael will stand up. 00:15:36.97\00:15:38.53 "The great prince that stands for the children of Thy people 00:15:38.57\00:15:40.60 and there'll be a time of trouble such as there never was, 00:15:40.64\00:15:43.81 even unto that time, and at that time, many of those that sleep 00:15:43.84\00:15:47.38 in the dust of the earth will awake." 00:15:47.41\00:15:50.48 So it's saying the resurrection comes after 00:15:50.51\00:15:52.21 this great time of trouble. 00:15:52.25\00:15:54.08 There's going to be problems not only of religious persecution. 00:15:54.12\00:15:57.05 Not only will there be plagues. 00:15:57.09\00:15:58.75 I think the whole planet is going to be sort of imploding 00:15:58.79\00:16:03.22 shortly before the Lord's coming. 00:16:03.26\00:16:05.23 So I think everyone's going to experience some element 00:16:05.26\00:16:07.60 of persecution or tribulation that's going to come 00:16:07.60\00:16:10.73 on the whole world. 00:16:10.77\00:16:12.23 Jëan: You know, Revelations chapter 7 describes four angels 00:16:12.27\00:16:14.34 holding back the four winds of the earth. 00:16:14.37\00:16:16.47 Another angel comes from heaven saying, 00:16:16.50\00:16:18.57 "Don't let go of the winds until we have sealed 00:16:18.61\00:16:20.54 the servants of God in their forehead." 00:16:20.58\00:16:22.41 The wind represents this time of trouble, 00:16:22.44\00:16:24.08 this turmoil, this conflict. 00:16:24.11\00:16:26.01 And so, yes, God is doing a work of sealing, but when that work 00:16:26.05\00:16:28.72 is finished probation closes, the seven last plagues 00:16:28.75\00:16:31.69 get poured out, and then Jesus comes. 00:16:31.72\00:16:34.22 Now, the good news is for the believer, when probation closes 00:16:34.26\00:16:37.39 God is going to preserve those who trust in Him. 00:16:37.43\00:16:41.10 We read in Psalms 91 no plague will come nigh thy dwelling. 00:16:41.13\00:16:44.37 God will send His angels to watch over you. 00:16:44.40\00:16:46.40 But there will be those who suffer before probation closes. 00:16:46.43\00:16:49.60 Some might even give their life as a testimony of their faith 00:16:49.64\00:16:52.84 and as a witness to others, but that occurs 00:16:52.87\00:16:54.81 before the close of probation. 00:16:54.84\00:16:56.61 All right, thank you, Dennis. 00:16:56.64\00:16:58.01 We've got Junith listening in Nevada. 00:16:58.05\00:16:59.51 Junith, welcome to the program. 00:16:59.55\00:17:01.72 Junith: Sure, hi, good evening, Pastor Jëan and Pastor Doug. 00:17:01.75\00:17:07.46 Can you hear me? 00:17:07.49\00:17:08.89 Doug: Yes, your question? 00:17:08.92\00:17:13.03 Junith: Thanks for taking my call. 00:17:13.06\00:17:14.83 My question is regarding the Lord of the Sabbath, 00:17:14.83\00:17:20.60 who is the Lord of the Sunday. 00:17:20.64\00:17:22.90 Mark 2:20. 00:17:22.94\00:17:24.67 Jesus--can you please explain in a holistic way the connection 00:17:24.71\00:17:30.15 between creation, redemption, and then recreation, and then 00:17:30.18\00:17:38.45 restoration to eternal paradise before Adam and Eve sinned? 00:17:38.49\00:17:44.49 And also please focus also on the mark of this 666 beast and 00:17:44.53\00:17:50.43 the seal of the heavenly Father. 00:17:50.47\00:17:52.13 Thank you. 00:17:52.17\00:17:53.70 Doug: All right, well, you gave us a tall order that-- 00:17:53.74\00:17:56.50 Jëan: It's a Bible prophecy seminar, right? 00:17:56.54\00:17:58.97 All the important prophetic truths. 00:17:59.01\00:18:00.81 Doug: Not going to be able to cover all of that. 00:18:00.84\00:18:03.08 Now, part of what Junith was asking, if you look in-- 00:18:03.11\00:18:06.08 for example, in Revelation chapter 1, 00:18:06.11\00:18:09.12 I think it's verse 10, John says, 00:18:09.15\00:18:11.65 "I was in the spirit on the Lord's Day." 00:18:11.69\00:18:14.36 And some have wondered, what is that Lord's Day? 00:18:14.39\00:18:16.79 And I even heard a pastor say this week that was Sunday. 00:18:16.83\00:18:20.36 Well, there's no Scripture that calls Sunday the Lord's Day 00:18:20.40\00:18:22.50 anywhere in the Bible. 00:18:22.53\00:18:24.57 They just--it sort of comes from a tradition. 00:18:24.60\00:18:27.47 If you want to know what is the Lord's Day, the Lord's Day, the 00:18:27.50\00:18:30.54 Bible says God is--the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord. 00:18:30.57\00:18:36.21 And then you can look in Isaiah 58 and He calls 00:18:36.24\00:18:38.78 the Sabbath My holy day. 00:18:38.81\00:18:41.65 And Jesus says, and she was referring to this, in Mark 00:18:41.68\00:18:44.89 chapter 2 the son of man is Lord also of the Sabbath. 00:18:44.92\00:18:48.72 So if there is a day of the week that God is the Lord, 00:18:48.76\00:18:51.49 it would be the Sabbath. 00:18:51.53\00:18:53.23 Some have wondered there in Revelation chapter 1 it says, 00:18:53.26\00:18:55.06 "I was in the spirit on the Lord's Day," 00:18:55.10\00:18:57.03 is it talking about, "I was in the spirit and I witnessed 00:18:57.07\00:19:00.07 the day of the Lord's return." 00:19:00.10\00:19:02.87 I actually think he had his vision on the Sabbath day. 00:19:02.90\00:19:05.34 He's just saying that he was resting that day and God came 00:19:05.37\00:19:08.64 to him and spoke to him. 00:19:08.68\00:19:10.58 Jëan: Yeah, you know, in the Bible you have the 00:19:10.61\00:19:12.45 phrase--Pastor Doug, as you know we've got the Lord's Day 00:19:12.48\00:19:14.35 and then we have the day of the Lord. 00:19:14.38\00:19:16.42 It's not always the same thing. 00:19:16.45\00:19:17.99 You have the Lord's Day and then you have the day of the Lord. 00:19:18.02\00:19:19.89 It's often associated with the second coming or the 00:19:19.92\00:19:21.59 establishment of Christ's kingdom and power and glory, 00:19:21.62\00:19:24.33 but the Lord's Day would be the seventh day of the week. 00:19:24.36\00:19:27.20 Doug: Correct. 00:19:27.23\00:19:28.96 Jëan: You know, we do have a book, it's one of our study 00:19:29.00\00:19:30.70 guides, and it's called "The Lost Day of History." 00:19:30.73\00:19:32.97 So if you're wondering what does the Bible say about the Lord's 00:19:33.00\00:19:34.97 Day, you're wondering about the Sabbath, call and ask. 00:19:35.00\00:19:37.71 The number to call for that is 800-835-6747. 00:19:37.74\00:19:41.74 You can ask for the study guide. 00:19:41.78\00:19:43.14 It's called "The Lost Day of History." 00:19:43.18\00:19:45.88 Or dial #250 on your smartphone, say "Bible Answers Live," 00:19:45.91\00:19:50.09 and then, again, ask for the study guide 00:19:50.12\00:19:51.85 "The Lost Day of History." 00:19:51.89\00:19:53.66 We'll send it out to you. 00:19:53.69\00:19:55.36 Next caller that we have is Billy listening in LA. 00:19:55.39\00:19:57.89 Billy, welcome to the program. 00:19:57.93\00:19:59.59 Or I guess Louisiana. 00:19:59.63\00:20:02.06 Billy: Okay, my question is: What day of the week 00:20:02.10\00:20:07.00 was Jesus crucified on? 00:20:07.04\00:20:11.54 Doug: Well, a quick answer would be Friday. 00:20:11.57\00:20:14.64 And the reason we say this--it says the Sabbath drew on and 00:20:14.68\00:20:19.01 they wanted to take the bodies off of the crosses 00:20:19.05\00:20:22.28 before the Sabbath. 00:20:22.32\00:20:23.89 Now, that Sabbath was also a Passover Sabbath, 00:20:23.92\00:20:26.22 but it calls it the preparation day. 00:20:26.25\00:20:29.39 And then you read in Luke, it says that they went home 00:20:29.42\00:20:32.59 and kept the Sabbath according to the commandments. 00:20:32.63\00:20:34.76 So we know what Sabbath it was. 00:20:34.83\00:20:36.56 It was a Sabbath according to the Ten Commandments, 00:20:36.60\00:20:40.20 which is the seventh day of the week. 00:20:40.24\00:20:41.94 So the day immediately precedes the seventh day, 00:20:41.97\00:20:45.21 which is Saturday. 00:20:45.24\00:20:47.41 You know, all the Jews today 00:20:47.44\00:20:49.14 still keep the seventh day, Saturday. 00:20:49.18\00:20:50.71 That would be Friday. 00:20:50.75\00:20:52.05 That's why many religions call Friday Good Friday. 00:20:52.08\00:20:56.18 Now, some have read in Matthew chapter 12 where Jesus said 00:20:56.22\00:20:59.69 Moses--I'm sorry. 00:20:59.72\00:21:01.89 "As Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three 00:21:01.92\00:21:04.79 nights, so the son of man will be in the heart of the earth 00:21:04.83\00:21:07.50 three days and three nights." 00:21:07.56\00:21:09.26 And they think, "Well, in order for that to work, 00:21:09.30\00:21:11.10 you got to move the day of the crucifixion." 00:21:11.13\00:21:13.00 So were you wondering about that, Billy? 00:21:13.03\00:21:15.70 Billy: Yes, because I've done a lot of study on it, 00:21:15.74\00:21:18.57 and everybody believes that he was crucified on Friday, 00:21:18.61\00:21:24.75 preparation day for the regular seventh-day Sabbath. 00:21:24.78\00:21:28.52 But John, he quotes in there about the half Sabbath the-- 00:21:28.55\00:21:36.66 in other words, you can't get 3 1/2 days from Friday 00:21:36.69\00:21:42.66 to early Sunday morning. 00:21:42.70\00:21:45.10 Doug: Well, you don't mean 3 1/2, 00:21:45.13\00:21:46.84 you mean 3 days? 00:21:46.87\00:21:48.70 Billy: Three days, but there's-- 00:21:48.74\00:21:50.71 it clearly says in John that they last the-- 00:21:50.74\00:21:56.78 Jonah in the whale, he's been in the heart of the 00:21:56.81\00:21:59.55 earth three days and three nights, and the only way I can 00:21:59.58\00:22:06.62 see the Scriptures all and falling in together is he was 00:22:06.65\00:22:12.99 crucified on Wednesday evening before the half Sabbath and 00:22:13.03\00:22:21.80 entered into the grave, and he been there 3 1/2-- 00:22:21.84\00:22:25.91 3 days and 3 nights, which he'd be resurrected 00:22:25.94\00:22:32.01 probably 72 hours later. 00:22:32.05\00:22:34.95 Doug: Yeah, let me tell you the place where 00:22:34.98\00:22:37.75 the mistake comes in. 00:22:37.79\00:22:39.92 People read that one verse there. 00:22:39.95\00:22:41.82 You don't want to build a doctrine on one verse. 00:22:41.86\00:22:44.16 That one verse there in Matthew chapter 12 00:22:44.19\00:22:46.66 where Jesus says three days, three nights, 00:22:46.70\00:22:49.60 heart of the earth, they assume the heart of the earth 00:22:49.63\00:22:52.00 means only his time in the tomb. 00:22:52.03\00:22:54.74 When Jesus says heart of the earth, there's nowhere else 00:22:54.77\00:22:57.11 in the Bible the tomb is called the heart of the earth. 00:22:57.14\00:22:59.87 When he says heart of the earth, 00:22:59.91\00:23:01.54 he's talking about in the midst of the world. 00:23:01.58\00:23:04.45 When Jesus started suffering for the sins of the world, 00:23:04.48\00:23:07.12 that was Thursday night. 00:23:07.15\00:23:09.05 The penalty for sin was not just death. 00:23:09.08\00:23:11.32 And it wasn't just the time that he was in the tomb, 00:23:11.35\00:23:13.72 it was the suffering. 00:23:13.76\00:23:15.62 And in the Garden of Gethsemane he told the disciples, 00:23:15.66\00:23:17.76 "Now is the hour." 00:23:17.79\00:23:19.53 So that's when you punch the starting stopwatch, 00:23:19.56\00:23:21.80 you might say. 00:23:21.83\00:23:23.77 Thursday night he began-- he said, "Not my will. 00:23:23.80\00:23:26.80 Thy will be done." 00:23:26.84\00:23:28.57 The Father withdrew His protection. 00:23:28.60\00:23:30.91 For three days and three nights Jesus was suffering for the sins 00:23:30.94\00:23:33.34 of the world, and he was beaten and tried and mistreated 00:23:33.38\00:23:38.08 and tortured and he rose again Sunday morning. 00:23:38.11\00:23:41.52 So that's the three days and three nights. 00:23:41.55\00:23:44.05 It starts Thursday night after the Last Supper. 00:23:44.09\00:23:47.26 And so you don't need to move the crucifixion day. 00:23:47.29\00:23:50.29 'Cause when Luke talks about the sign of Jonah, 00:23:50.33\00:23:52.79 he never even mentions-- in the Gospel of Luke, 00:23:52.83\00:23:55.23 Jesus talks about the sign of Jonah. 00:23:55.26\00:23:57.00 He says as Jonah was assigned to the Ninevites. 00:23:57.03\00:23:59.20 Doesn't even mention the three days and three nights. 00:23:59.23\00:24:01.47 So be careful not to try and move the day of the crucifixion 00:24:01.50\00:24:04.47 because of that. 00:24:04.51\00:24:06.24 We do have a free book we can offer you on that. 00:24:06.27\00:24:08.08 Jëan: We do. 00:24:08.11\00:24:09.74 The book is called "The Sign of Jonah," 00:24:09.78\00:24:11.45 and we'll be happy to send this to anyone who calls and asks. 00:24:11.48\00:24:13.48 The number is 800-835-6747. 00:24:13.52\00:24:16.72 You can ask for the book "The Sign of Jonah." 00:24:16.75\00:24:18.59 We also have a book called "Three Days and Three Nights." 00:24:18.62\00:24:20.86 I think that's two books on the same subject. 00:24:20.89\00:24:23.53 Both are very good. 00:24:23.56\00:24:25.46 Just call and ask for either one: "The Sign of Jonah" or 00:24:25.49\00:24:27.60 "Three Days and Three Nights." 00:24:27.66\00:24:29.36 You can dial #250 on your smartphone, say "Bible Answers 00:24:29.40\00:24:32.30 Live," and then ask for the free offer by name, 00:24:32.33\00:24:35.10 and we will send it to you. 00:24:35.14\00:24:36.77 Well, let's see, Pastor Doug. 00:24:36.81\00:24:38.24 We've got 2 minutes to go here. 00:24:38.27\00:24:39.84 Let's see if we can maybe get Roger in Minnesota. 00:24:39.87\00:24:42.41 Roger, welcome to the program. 00:24:42.44\00:24:46.15 Roger: Hi, Pastor Doug. 00:24:46.18\00:24:47.58 Doug: Hi. 00:24:47.62\00:24:49.38 Roger: My question is kind of heavy. 00:24:49.42\00:24:50.75 It's why did God choose the number 2,300. 00:24:50.79\00:24:53.62 Why not 2,000 or 2,400? 00:24:53.66\00:24:57.39 Doug: You're talking about in Daniel chapter 8, verse 14, 00:24:57.43\00:25:00.10 I'm assuming. 00:25:00.13\00:25:01.96 Roger: Yeah, and if you could--you would allow me to 00:25:02.00\00:25:04.07 respond after your comment, I would appreciate that. 00:25:04.10\00:25:06.23 Doug: Okay, don't know-- hopefully we'll have 00:25:06.27\00:25:08.17 enough time, but I don't-- I can't give you a reason 00:25:08.20\00:25:11.07 why God chose that particular numerical quantity. 00:25:11.11\00:25:15.61 I just know that God said that's what the quantity would be from 00:25:15.64\00:25:18.28 the starting point to the ending point of the prophecy. 00:25:18.31\00:25:21.65 So you must have something in mind. 00:25:21.68\00:25:24.62 Roger: I do. 00:25:24.65\00:25:26.35 Doug: Okay, please be brief because we're going 00:25:26.39\00:25:28.19 to run out of time. 00:25:28.22\00:25:29.99 Roger: I'm sorry to hear that. 00:25:30.03\00:25:31.79 God gave Moses two festivals to keep after they left Egypt: 00:25:31.83\00:25:36.13 the spring festival and the fall festival. 00:25:36.16\00:25:38.73 And when Jesus was crucified, how did he know he was going to 00:25:38.77\00:25:41.57 be resurrected on the third day? 00:25:41.60\00:25:43.61 That's because he was a wave sheep of the first fruits. 00:25:43.64\00:25:46.88 And how did he know that was his last supper? 00:25:46.91\00:25:48.91 That's because on the 14th day of the first month the Passover 00:25:48.94\00:25:51.95 lamb was slain, and Jesus knew he was the lamb of God. 00:25:51.98\00:25:55.18 So if the spring festival held that much weight, then the fall 00:25:55.22\00:25:58.75 festival must hold also that much weight. 00:25:58.79\00:26:01.69 So if we count the days God has already given in Leviticus 23 on 00:26:01.72\00:26:05.43 the first day, the blowing of the trumpet for 90 days, on the 00:26:05.46\00:26:08.70 10th day the Day of Atonement, on the 15th day the Feast of 00:26:08.73\00:26:11.43 Tabernacles for 7 days, and then there's a 8th day. 00:26:11.47\00:26:14.07 You add all that together and you come up 00:26:14.10\00:26:16.04 with 22 literal days. 00:26:16.07\00:26:19.27 So 1 Kings chapter 7 and 2 Kings chapter 7, thereabouts, it says 00:26:19.31\00:26:27.85 that when Solomon had finished building the temple he told the 00:26:27.88\00:26:31.02 people to go--which was--and then he--then they had the feast 00:26:31.05\00:26:35.26 then and then at the 22nd day they were told to go home 00:26:35.29\00:26:38.69 in 1 Kings and on the 23rd day they was--told to go home 00:26:38.73\00:26:42.40 in Chronicles. 00:26:42.43\00:26:44.43 So in Daniel 8 it says unto 2,300 days, 00:26:44.47\00:26:48.00 not 2,300 days and one more. 00:26:48.04\00:26:51.14 It's just unto, up to that. 00:26:51.17\00:26:53.48 So you have 22 days, 22 1/2, 22 3/4, 22 7/8, 22 8/8. 00:26:53.51\00:26:58.68 That brings you right up to 2,300 of 22 full days, and 00:26:58.71\00:27:03.08 evidently God has taken His 22 full days and turned it 00:27:03.12\00:27:07.26 into hundreds of days. 00:27:07.29\00:27:11.16 So it's 2,300, which is a little over 6 years. 00:27:11.19\00:27:13.86 Doug: Okay, well, we're going to run out of time here. 00:27:13.90\00:27:17.07 I bet you are an accountant because you got a lot of math 00:27:17.10\00:27:21.87 going on there. 00:27:21.90\00:27:23.20 Hey, friends. 00:31:47.50\00:31:50.54 Doug: Yeah, well, sometimes Jesus healed a person. 00:31:50.57\00:31:52.81 I'm thinking about the pool of Bethesda. 00:31:52.84\00:31:54.91 When he healed that man he said, "Go and sin no more, 00:31:54.94\00:31:58.48 lest a worst thing come upon you." 00:31:58.51\00:32:01.75 So there is definitely a connection between sin 00:32:01.78\00:32:05.39 and healing, not every time. 00:32:05.42\00:32:07.19 Some sickness is just because, you know, degeneration of 00:32:07.22\00:32:10.16 humanity and disease in the world, but some sickness is 00:32:10.19\00:32:14.66 brought upon us by sin. 00:32:14.73\00:32:17.37 And God does still also miraculously heal 00:32:17.40\00:32:21.80 in response to prayer and-- 00:32:21.84\00:32:23.97 Jëan: You know, I think of the verse, Pastor Doug, in James 00:32:24.01\00:32:25.87 where James gives guidance for the church and he says, 00:32:25.91\00:32:28.91 "If somebody is sick among you, let them call for the elders. 00:32:28.94\00:32:31.81 Let them pray over him." 00:32:31.85\00:32:33.62 But there was also associated with that special anointing 00:32:33.65\00:32:36.65 service a confession of sin because it says, 00:32:36.69\00:32:39.52 "If he has committed any sins, he shall be forgiven, 00:32:39.55\00:32:42.32 and the Lord will raise him up." 00:32:42.36\00:32:44.16 So if we are seeking the Lord to heal us and we know of a sin 00:32:44.19\00:32:48.60 that we have not committed or forsaken, we want to get 00:32:48.63\00:32:51.43 that taken care of. 00:32:51.47\00:32:53.07 We want to get that out of the way so that doesn't become 00:32:53.10\00:32:55.00 a hindrance to God answering our prayer. 00:32:55.04\00:32:56.77 Doug: Yeah, says He forgives our sins and heals our diseases, 00:32:56.81\00:32:59.67 and I think it's Psalm 103. 00:32:59.71\00:33:01.91 So there's often a connection. 00:33:01.94\00:33:03.61 Thank you. 00:33:03.65\00:33:05.11 Hope that helps a little bit, Bob. 00:33:05.15\00:33:07.15 Jëan: All right, next caller that we have is Angela, 00:33:07.18\00:33:09.08 listening in Illinois. 00:33:09.12\00:33:10.42 Angela, welcome to the program. 00:33:10.45\00:33:12.95 Angela: Hello. 00:33:12.99\00:33:14.72 I have a question in regards to Acts 23:8. 00:33:14.76\00:33:19.59 It says that, "For the Sadducees say there is no resurrection 00:33:19.63\00:33:24.70 or angels or spirits, but the Pharisees believe 00:33:24.73\00:33:28.20 in all of these." 00:33:28.24\00:33:29.94 I guess my question is then if the Sadducees says that, 00:33:29.97\00:33:34.78 that there's no resurrection or angels or spirits, 00:33:34.81\00:33:37.71 then what did they actually believe in? 00:33:37.75\00:33:40.08 I mean-- 00:33:40.12\00:33:42.15 Doug: Seems pretty hopeless, doesn't it? 00:33:42.18\00:33:44.75 Angela: Yeah, I was going to say there's no hope. 00:33:44.79\00:33:47.59 Doug: Yeah, the Sadducees were a pretty liberal group and 00:33:47.62\00:33:50.13 they thought that, you know, God, He can bless you in this 00:33:50.16\00:33:52.79 life if you obey Him, but they didn't really talk about 00:33:52.83\00:33:56.36 a resurrection or a spiritual life. 00:33:56.40\00:33:58.43 It was all like it's all right here right now. 00:33:58.47\00:34:01.37 And yeah, that'd be pretty sad. 00:34:01.40\00:34:04.04 It's almost like those who believe in evolution 00:34:04.07\00:34:05.87 that say this is it. 00:34:05.91\00:34:07.84 Jëan: Mm-hmm, it's all you have. 00:34:07.88\00:34:09.64 Doug: Yeah, you die and you turn back to fertilizer, 00:34:09.68\00:34:11.18 and that was your life. 00:34:11.21\00:34:12.81 So I've wondered that before. 00:34:12.85\00:34:14.52 Just, you know, who would want to be a Sadducee? 00:34:14.55\00:34:15.95 That's why they were sad, you see? 00:34:15.98\00:34:17.79 [laughing] 00:34:17.82\00:34:19.49 Jëan: And they claimed to only believe the first five 00:34:19.52\00:34:21.19 books written by Moses, but in those first five books you do 00:34:21.22\00:34:24.83 have references to angels. 00:34:24.86\00:34:26.53 Doug: Yeah. 00:34:26.56\00:34:28.10 Jëan: So it was kind of strange how that they rejected 00:34:28.13\00:34:29.60 the belief of angels and the resurrection. 00:34:29.63\00:34:31.23 Of course, you know, we have examples in the first five books 00:34:31.27\00:34:34.04 of Moses of the resurrection. 00:34:34.07\00:34:36.10 So, you know, it is interesting that-- 00:34:36.14\00:34:37.97 yeah, that's neglected, pushed aside. 00:34:38.01\00:34:40.81 Doug: Yep. 00:34:40.84\00:34:42.14 Jëan: All right, next caller that we have is Dale 00:34:42.18\00:34:43.75 in Illinois. 00:34:43.78\00:34:45.25 Dale, welcome to the program. 00:34:45.28\00:34:47.22 Dale: Yes, good evening, Pastor Doug, Pastor Jëan. 00:34:47.25\00:34:51.02 Doug: Evening. 00:34:51.05\00:34:52.75 Dale: In your Minnesota seminar you answered that you 00:34:52.79\00:34:56.56 believe Sunday worshipers will be in heaven and on your Amazing 00:34:56.59\00:35:00.83 Facts program on Hope Channel you said you believe millions 00:35:00.86\00:35:05.03 of Sunday worshipers would be in heaven. 00:35:05.07\00:35:07.67 So my question is: Wouldn't any and all Sunday worshipers 00:35:07.70\00:35:11.74 be disobeying the Sabbath? 00:35:11.77\00:35:13.98 Doug: Well, yeah, and I did say that. 00:35:14.01\00:35:16.38 And you know, sometimes people have said because we teach the 00:35:16.41\00:35:18.91 Sabbath truth on this program, are we saying that all those 00:35:18.95\00:35:22.15 people that don't know that truth are going to be lost? 00:35:22.18\00:35:25.52 And we say, "No, absolutely not." 00:35:25.55\00:35:27.72 It's one of God's commandments. 00:35:27.76\00:35:29.82 But there are going to be people in heaven--for example, the 00:35:29.86\00:35:32.06 Bible says that you're only supposed to have one wife, 00:35:32.09\00:35:35.16 but you're going to find people in heaven like David and Solomon 00:35:35.20\00:35:38.33 and Jacob and others that had multiple wives. 00:35:38.37\00:35:41.47 And you read in Acts chapter 17, "At the times of this ignorance 00:35:41.50\00:35:44.67 God winked at." 00:35:44.71\00:35:46.51 And so there are people of God who lived through history who 00:35:46.54\00:35:49.28 maybe they didn't know certain biblical truths and they lived 00:35:49.31\00:35:52.05 up to the light they had, and God will wink at their 00:35:52.08\00:35:54.78 ignorance, but once we know the truth--for example, 00:35:54.82\00:36:00.69 I don't drink. 00:36:00.72\00:36:02.42 I don't drink alcohol. I think it's a sin. 00:36:02.46\00:36:04.19 I know better. I see what it does. 00:36:04.23\00:36:07.40 Martin Luther drank, but he lived in a time where everybody 00:36:07.46\00:36:11.00 drank beer 'cause the water wasn't good. 00:36:11.03\00:36:13.27 I expect to see him in heaven. 00:36:13.30\00:36:15.00 He didn't know. 00:36:15.04\00:36:16.71 I don't smoke 'cause I think smoke is--smoking is kind 00:36:16.74\00:36:18.97 of like, you know, thou shall not kill yourself. 00:36:19.01\00:36:21.84 Says right there on the pack, "This will kill you." 00:36:21.88\00:36:24.81 Well, the guy who wrote Amazing Grace, John Newton, he smoked. 00:36:24.85\00:36:28.02 They thought it was good for your lungs back then. 00:36:28.05\00:36:29.95 They were wrong. 00:36:29.98\00:36:31.45 So there are people through history that are godly people, 00:36:31.49\00:36:33.66 they just didn't know certain things. 00:36:33.69\00:36:35.39 And there's dear spiritual people in many churches that 00:36:35.42\00:36:38.23 have not heard what the Bible says or they've not had it 00:36:38.26\00:36:41.13 presented well about the Sabbath truth still being a commandment 00:36:41.16\00:36:44.67 that is to be kept. 00:36:44.70\00:36:46.10 So do I think there are people that are going to go to heaven 00:36:46.13\00:36:49.50 that went to church on Sunday? 00:36:49.54\00:36:51.17 Absolutely. 00:36:51.21\00:36:53.01 I don't think there's going to be people in heaven that knew 00:36:53.04\00:36:55.44 the Word of God and turned away from it. 00:36:55.48\00:36:59.08 The Bible says once we know what God wants, 00:36:59.11\00:37:01.75 if we turn away from it, that's sin. 00:37:01.78\00:37:03.62 Sin is knowing to do good and not doing it. 00:37:03.65\00:37:05.95 So hopefully that clarifies that a little bit, Dale. 00:37:05.99\00:37:08.29 Jëan: Yeah, of course, when everyone does get to heaven, 00:37:08.32\00:37:10.26 the Bible says that there will be a gathering 00:37:10.29\00:37:12.03 that occurs every week. 00:37:12.06\00:37:13.53 It's not the first day or the sixth day. 00:37:13.56\00:37:15.13 It's going to be on the seventh called the Sabbath. 00:37:15.16\00:37:17.53 So everyone will be keeping the Sabbath in heaven. 00:37:17.57\00:37:19.97 Doug: Yeah, from one Sabbath to another, all flesh will come 00:37:20.00\00:37:22.20 to worship before the Lord: Isaiah 66. 00:37:22.24\00:37:24.74 Jëan: All right, thank you. 00:37:24.77\00:37:26.37 Next caller that we have is Ivan from Mexico. 00:37:26.41\00:37:29.18 Ivan, welcome to the program. 00:37:29.21\00:37:31.81 Ivan: Good evening, pastors. How you doing? 00:37:31.85\00:37:33.52 Doug: Doing great. 00:37:33.55\00:37:35.22 Ivan: My question is in 2 Corinthians 12:9. 00:37:35.25\00:37:38.79 "And he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, 00:37:38.82\00:37:41.62 for my strength is made perfect in weakness.' 00:37:41.66\00:37:44.23 Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities 00:37:44.26\00:37:47.93 that the power of Christ may rest upon me." 00:37:47.96\00:37:51.63 Doug: Okay, you just want to explain it? 00:37:51.67\00:37:55.94 Ivan: Yeah, please. 00:37:55.97\00:37:57.87 Doug: Yeah, Paul had some affliction he talks about, and 00:37:57.91\00:38:01.01 he mentions that earlier in that verse where he said, 00:38:01.04\00:38:03.71 "I had a thorn in the side, messenger from Satan." 00:38:03.75\00:38:07.15 No one's exactly sure what it was, but many speculate 00:38:07.18\00:38:09.75 he had a problem with his vision. 00:38:09.78\00:38:12.29 And he prayed that God would heal him, but God says no. 00:38:12.32\00:38:15.02 You'll notice other people often write Paul's letters. 00:38:15.06\00:38:17.06 He dictates for them. 00:38:17.09\00:38:18.86 And there's a few occasions in the Bible where it appears Paul 00:38:18.89\00:38:21.56 didn't see what was happening. 00:38:21.60\00:38:23.57 Paul is basically saying that God is allowing him to suffer 00:38:23.60\00:38:26.80 some affliction, that he would trust the Lord had kept him 00:38:26.84\00:38:30.17 humble, and he says in verse 7, "Lest I should be exalted above 00:38:30.21\00:38:34.78 measure by the abundance of revelations." 00:38:34.81\00:38:36.81 Paul had talked to Jesus, he saw visions, and he said, "You know, 00:38:36.85\00:38:40.58 God's keeping me humble because I've had that relationship 00:38:40.62\00:38:42.88 by this physical affliction. 00:38:42.92\00:38:45.19 And I'm going to glory in my afflictions if that keeps me 00:38:45.22\00:38:48.76 closer to the Lord. 00:38:48.79\00:38:50.33 If that's God's will, I will embrace it." 00:38:50.36\00:38:52.33 And I've known people who have struggled with some kind of 00:38:52.36\00:38:55.26 physical handicap and they say, "God use this to save me, 00:38:55.30\00:38:57.83 and I thank God for it." 00:38:57.87\00:38:59.70 It's hard to understand when you're going through it, but in 00:38:59.73\00:39:02.34 the big picture when we get to heaven we'll say, "I am glad for 00:39:02.37\00:39:05.64 the trials that God sent 'cause he used it to save me." 00:39:05.67\00:39:09.34 Jëan: All right, thank you, Ivan. 00:39:09.38\00:39:10.91 We got Michael in Alabama. 00:39:10.95\00:39:12.85 Michael, welcome to the program. 00:39:12.88\00:39:15.15 Michael: Oh, good evening. 00:39:15.18\00:39:16.75 First, about a month ago either Mr. Ross or Mr. Batchelor on 00:39:16.79\00:39:22.49 this broadcast answered another caller's question about the 00:39:22.52\00:39:26.09 so-called mark of the beast. 00:39:26.13\00:39:27.86 Now, I myself am not obsessed with Bible prophecy unlike 00:39:27.93\00:39:32.70 countless thousands of Protestants, but one that-- 00:39:32.73\00:39:37.74 your interpretation has frightened me. 00:39:37.77\00:39:41.48 It said--you answered the person's question, either one of 00:39:41.51\00:39:45.05 you, that the beast--mark of the beast is like the devil's seal 00:39:45.08\00:39:52.02 of approval in your mind and heart and spirit-- 00:39:52.05\00:39:54.86 mind and your will and your spirit. 00:39:54.89\00:39:58.09 I don't see that definition anywhere here in Revelation 00:39:58.13\00:40:03.53 and I wonder where and how you arrived at this. 00:40:03.57\00:40:05.97 I got obses--severe depression as a baby Christian, a teenage 00:40:06.00\00:40:10.84 Christian, and then obsessive compulsive disorder from 00:40:10.87\00:40:14.58 churchianity from pastors that taught stuff like this, that you 00:40:14.61\00:40:18.88 could commit practically unpardonable sins without 00:40:18.91\00:40:23.02 knowing it because you have some secret-- 00:40:23.05\00:40:26.82 almost like you have some secret covenant with Satan 00:40:26.86\00:40:29.39 just for being you or something like that. 00:40:29.42\00:40:31.66 Doug: All right, well, let us get it-- 00:40:31.69\00:40:33.70 jump in here and try and say something to respond. 00:40:33.73\00:40:36.80 So, again, I don't know exactly what question 00:40:36.83\00:40:39.60 or which one of us responded to. 00:40:39.63\00:40:41.37 We probably pretty much believe the same thing on this, 00:40:41.40\00:40:43.41 'cause it's not new with us. 00:40:43.44\00:40:46.54 The teaching through history, and it's from the Bible, is that 00:40:46.57\00:40:50.71 the mark of the beast is really the opposite of the seal of God, 00:40:50.75\00:40:54.22 talks about the mark being in the hand or in the forehead. 00:40:54.25\00:40:57.35 If you look in the Old Testament, Moses, after giving 00:40:57.39\00:41:00.32 the Ten Commandments, says in Deuteronomy chapter 6, 00:41:00.36\00:41:03.83 "These words I command you this day shall be in your heart. 00:41:03.86\00:41:07.00 You shall bind them for a sign upon your hand. 00:41:07.03\00:41:10.27 They shall be as frontlets between your eyes." 00:41:10.30\00:41:12.77 It's talking about the forehead biblically. 00:41:12.80\00:41:15.00 The law of God was to be in their hand. 00:41:15.04\00:41:17.61 And again, you read in Isaiah chapter 8, it says that we are 00:41:17.64\00:41:21.48 sealed with the law of God. 00:41:21.51\00:41:23.68 So the law of God is sealed in our hearts and our minds. 00:41:23.71\00:41:27.02 If we do not have the law of God we'll have the laws of the beast 00:41:27.05\00:41:31.05 in our minds. 00:41:31.09\00:41:32.85 And ultimately it's going to mean they're obeying the laws 00:41:32.89\00:41:36.83 of the beast instead of the laws of God. 00:41:36.86\00:41:39.03 You look in Daniel chapter 3 and it's got the king making 00:41:39.06\00:41:42.26 everyone worship a image or he would be killed. 00:41:42.30\00:41:46.17 Revelation 13 is harkening back to that. 00:41:46.20\00:41:49.50 Says those who do not worship the image of the beast 00:41:49.54\00:41:51.47 would be killed. 00:41:51.51\00:41:53.21 If we obey the laws of this final beast power that will be 00:41:53.24\00:41:55.98 in conflict with the law of God, we're going to have the seal of 00:41:56.01\00:42:00.55 God, but we'll be persecuted by the beast as a death penalty. 00:42:00.58\00:42:03.69 Now, I'm not saying this to scare you. 00:42:03.72\00:42:05.62 I just have to tell you what the Bible says. 00:42:05.65\00:42:07.56 It's pretty clear it's happened several times in history. 00:42:07.59\00:42:10.36 Jëan: You know, Pastor Doug, I think not only is the Bible 00:42:10.39\00:42:12.59 portray it, but we can just look in the world around us. 00:42:12.63\00:42:14.50 We're in the midst of the great controversy 00:42:14.56\00:42:16.26 between good and evil. 00:42:16.30\00:42:17.90 There are bad things happening to good people. 00:42:17.93\00:42:19.47 There are bad things happening to bad people. 00:42:19.50\00:42:21.27 There are wars and there's unjust things happening 00:42:21.30\00:42:23.67 all around us. 00:42:23.71\00:42:25.07 And the question is why? 00:42:25.11\00:42:26.47 Well, the Bible gives the answer. 00:42:26.51\00:42:27.98 It says that Satan is the author of pain and suffering and death, 00:42:28.01\00:42:30.85 and God wants to save us, and that's the whole plan of 00:42:30.88\00:42:33.18 redemption and why Jesus came. 00:42:33.21\00:42:34.92 But Bible prophecy points to this final showdown that occurs 00:42:34.95\00:42:38.15 just before Jesus comes. 00:42:38.19\00:42:40.29 And you're going to have two groups in the world. 00:42:40.32\00:42:42.52 Those who love the Lord, keep His commandments, they have the 00:42:42.56\00:42:45.03 seal of God, and those who follow manmade tradition, 00:42:45.06\00:42:47.93 they have rejected the commandments of God, they 00:42:47.96\00:42:50.00 end up with the mark of the beast. 00:42:50.03\00:42:51.77 So two distinct groups just before Jesus comes. 00:42:51.80\00:42:54.67 Doug: Now, Michael, I detected in your question that 00:42:54.70\00:42:57.31 you are feeling some anxiety, and God wants to give you peace. 00:42:57.34\00:43:02.38 And I think if you study the subject I think you'll see that 00:43:02.41\00:43:05.71 the Book of Revelation has a happy ending for those 00:43:05.75\00:43:09.48 that embrace Jesus. 00:43:09.52\00:43:11.72 And you shouldn't be frightened by this when you, you know, 00:43:11.75\00:43:14.62 accept the Lord. 00:43:14.66\00:43:16.52 We're going to send you a study on the mark of the beast, and it 00:43:16.56\00:43:18.66 ends with good Sue, listening in New York. 00:43:55.53\00:43:57.20 Sue, welcome to the program. 00:43:57.23\00:43:59.23 Sue: Hi, thank you. Good night, pastors. 00:43:59.27\00:44:01.50 Doug: Evening. 00:44:01.54\00:44:03.10 Sue: I would just like you to explain Mark 2:27, 00:44:03.14\00:44:07.04 which says the Sabbath was made for man 00:44:07.08\00:44:11.21 and not man for the Sabbath, please. 00:44:11.25\00:44:13.05 Thank you. 00:44:13.08\00:44:14.62 Doug: Yeah, well, we'll read also verse 28. 00:44:14.65\00:44:16.22 "Therefore the son of man is Lord also of the Sabbath." 00:44:16.25\00:44:19.19 This verse Jesus--you always want the context. 00:44:19.22\00:44:22.62 The religious leaders were giving the apostles a hard time 00:44:22.66\00:44:24.96 because they were going through the fields 00:44:24.99\00:44:26.73 as they walked with Jesus. 00:44:26.76\00:44:28.43 They were grabbing some of the heads of grain, 00:44:28.46\00:44:30.63 they'd rub them in their hands, it was harvest time, 00:44:30.67\00:44:32.63 and they'd blow away the chaff. 00:44:32.67\00:44:34.04 They'd pop up in their mouth. 00:44:34.07\00:44:35.37 I see corn out of a field, green sometimes. 00:44:35.40\00:44:40.74 And they're--the religious leaders that were watching this 00:44:40.78\00:44:43.48 said, "Oh, they're harvesting." 00:44:43.51\00:44:45.28 Well, they weren't harvesting. 00:44:45.31\00:44:46.85 It was like picking an apple on the Sabbath day. 00:44:46.88\00:44:48.45 It's not harvesting. 00:44:48.48\00:44:50.02 But they were very legalistic and they said, 00:44:50.05\00:44:51.42 "You're harvesting." 00:44:51.45\00:44:52.89 And Jesus said, "No. 00:44:52.92\00:44:54.39 They're just--they're gleaning a little food to eat." 00:44:54.42\00:44:56.96 And they were putting all these manmade laws on the Sabbath like 00:44:56.99\00:44:59.59 the reason that man existed was to serve the Sabbath. 00:44:59.63\00:45:03.77 And Jesus reminded them that man was made first and the Sabbath 00:45:03.80\00:45:08.90 was made to be a blessing for man 'cause man was made on the 00:45:08.94\00:45:14.08 sixth day, the Sabbath then was made this period of time 00:45:14.11\00:45:17.61 to be a blessing for man in his communion with God. 00:45:17.65\00:45:20.75 That's why he said the Sabbath was made for man 00:45:20.78\00:45:22.72 and not man for the Sabbath. 00:45:22.75\00:45:24.69 So we shouldn't be legalistic about Sabbath-keeping as the 00:45:24.72\00:45:27.92 Pharisees were, but neither should we neglect it. 00:45:27.96\00:45:30.83 Jesus never said, "Ignore the Sabbath. 00:45:30.86\00:45:32.63 It's done away with." 00:45:32.66\00:45:34.36 He said, "The son of man is Lord of the Sabbath, 00:45:34.40\00:45:35.93 meaning I'm the one that created the Sabbath." 00:45:35.96\00:45:38.13 And Jesus--all things that were made were made by him. 00:45:38.17\00:45:40.47 He made it to be a blessing, not a burden, 00:45:40.50\00:45:42.87 and that's simply what he's teaching there. 00:45:42.90\00:45:44.84 Jëan: All right, thank you, Sue. 00:45:44.87\00:45:46.47 Next caller that we have is Tim listening in Texas. 00:45:46.51\00:45:48.24 Tim, welcome to the program. 00:45:48.28\00:45:50.55 Tim: Hey, how you doing? 00:45:50.58\00:45:52.38 Doug: I'm doing great, thank you. 00:45:52.41\00:45:54.18 And your call--your question? 00:45:54.22\00:45:56.05 Yeah. 00:45:56.08\00:45:57.75 Tim: Oh, my question is in heaven talks about the tree 00:45:57.79\00:46:00.72 will be--the leaves will be for the healing of the nations. 00:46:00.76\00:46:04.06 Why would there be healing of the nations 00:46:04.09\00:46:05.63 if it's a perfect world? 00:46:05.66\00:46:07.23 Doug: Yeah, that's-- that is a good question. 00:46:07.30\00:46:10.10 You can also look in the end of Ezekiel. 00:46:10.13\00:46:14.04 And Pastor Ross might find the verse where it says--when you 00:46:14.07\00:46:16.44 type in the word medicine you'll probably find it, and it says 00:46:16.47\00:46:18.74 the leaves of the tree will be for medicine, and it's a similar 00:46:18.77\00:46:21.94 vision that Ezekiel has, a lot of comparisons between Ezekiel 00:46:21.98\00:46:27.02 and Revelation in this respect. 00:46:27.05\00:46:31.15 Obviously nobody is going to get sick in heaven and need to go, 00:46:31.19\00:46:35.29 you know, clawing or crawling up to the tree of life 00:46:35.32\00:46:38.23 and rubbing the leaves in a wound or something like that. 00:46:38.26\00:46:41.73 The way that I've understood it is there's two things. 00:46:41.76\00:46:43.77 You notice it says healing of the nations. 00:46:43.80\00:46:45.23 It doesn't say healing of disease. 00:46:45.27\00:46:48.87 All the nations are divided in this world by language 00:46:48.90\00:46:52.51 and culture and politics and different things. 00:46:52.54\00:46:55.78 As God's redeemed gather together under the tree, under 00:46:55.81\00:46:59.35 the leaves of that tree to eat the fruit, all the divisions of 00:46:59.38\00:47:03.52 the nation will be healed, and we will be one people. 00:47:03.55\00:47:07.32 So it's a healing of the nations. 00:47:07.36\00:47:10.23 And when we're resurrected, though we'll have 00:47:10.26\00:47:12.56 glorified bodies, man has been stunted by sin. 00:47:12.59\00:47:17.57 And again, not only will we be eating the fruit, it's possible 00:47:17.60\00:47:21.50 that maybe there'll be some edible properties of the leaves 00:47:21.54\00:47:25.81 and they'll eat that and grow up to the full stature, 00:47:25.84\00:47:28.08 'cause it does say in Malachi, "They shall go forth 00:47:28.11\00:47:30.31 and grow up as calves of the stall." 00:47:30.35\00:47:33.18 So we may even increase in height. 00:47:33.21\00:47:36.22 And so I can't wait to get to heaven and find out, but. 00:47:36.25\00:47:38.65 Jëan: Yeah, the verse that it's--that's drawn from 00:47:38.69\00:47:41.12 in Revelation is Ezekiel chapter 47, verse 12. 00:47:41.16\00:47:43.86 Doug: Yeah, okay, thank you. 00:47:43.89\00:47:45.46 Jëan: Talks about the leaves of the trees used for medicine. 00:47:45.49\00:47:47.23 All right, good question, Tim. 00:47:47.23\00:47:48.66 Next caller that we have is Joel in Tennessee. 00:47:48.70\00:47:50.53 Joel, welcome to "Bible Answers Live." 00:47:50.57\00:47:53.54 Joel: Thank you for taking my call. 00:47:53.57\00:47:55.14 My question regards to Matthew 5, verse 19. 00:47:55.17\00:48:00.08 Doug: Okay, I can read it if you want. 00:48:00.11\00:48:03.04 Joel: Yes, please. 00:48:03.08\00:48:05.41 Doug: "Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these 00:48:05.45\00:48:08.32 commandments and teaches men so, he'll be called least in the 00:48:08.35\00:48:11.39 kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, 00:48:11.42\00:48:14.66 he will be called great in the kingdom of heaven." 00:48:14.69\00:48:17.43 So are you wondering what that verse means? 00:48:17.46\00:48:20.53 Joel: I was wondering are there levels in--like, are there 00:48:20.56\00:48:23.50 levels or, like, positions that people will have 00:48:23.53\00:48:25.57 when they get to heaven? 00:48:25.60\00:48:27.47 Doug: Yes, but that is not taught by this verse. 00:48:27.50\00:48:30.11 When I say will there be levels it's not that God segregates us 00:48:30.14\00:48:32.77 in heaven, but Jesus tells us there are varying degrees 00:48:32.81\00:48:35.78 of reward both for the saved and the lost. 00:48:35.81\00:48:39.95 You know, Christ says that those that knew their master's will 00:48:39.98\00:48:42.62 and did not do it are beaten with many stripes while those 00:48:42.65\00:48:45.99 who did not know their master's will but somehow disobeyed are 00:48:46.02\00:48:49.09 beaten with few stripes. 00:48:49.12\00:48:51.09 And the Bible also says, "Great is your reward in heaven, 00:48:51.13\00:48:54.63 those who are persecuted for righteousness sake." 00:48:54.66\00:48:56.70 So there's varying degrees of reward, but this verse when it 00:48:56.73\00:48:59.50 says if you're teaching others to break the commandment you'll 00:48:59.53\00:49:02.14 be called least in the kingdom, that's not saying you're in the 00:49:02.17\00:49:05.04 kingdom and you're going to be in low position. 00:49:05.07\00:49:07.31 It means the people in the kingdom of God call that 00:49:07.34\00:49:11.51 individual the lowest kind of person. 00:49:11.55\00:49:15.15 The people that teach others to sin, not going to be 00:49:15.18\00:49:17.72 in the kingdom. 00:49:17.75\00:49:19.62 He's simply saying whoever breaks the least of these 00:49:19.65\00:49:21.89 commandments and teaches men so shall be called least. 00:49:21.92\00:49:25.66 Those in the kingdom of heaven will call that person the lowest 00:49:25.69\00:49:29.56 kind of person. 00:49:29.60\00:49:31.13 So they're not going to be in heaven, if anyone's teaching 00:49:31.17\00:49:34.10 people to sin. 00:49:34.14\00:49:36.40 Joel: I do have another question. 00:49:36.44\00:49:37.87 It's about, like, pastors that may not be all-knowing of the 00:49:37.91\00:49:42.98 truth or, like, if they teach--like, if they're ignorant 00:49:43.01\00:49:46.65 of something and they teach others to sin kind of, would 00:49:46.68\00:49:50.52 they still be in--like, I don't know if that kind of ties in. 00:49:50.55\00:49:53.42 Doug: Yeah, well, yeah. 00:49:53.46\00:49:55.09 You know, when the apostles first started teaching under 00:49:55.12\00:49:58.36 Jesus, they didn't have all of their eschatology correct. 00:49:58.39\00:50:02.46 Even after the resurrection, they said, "Lord, 00:50:02.50\00:50:04.73 will you at this time establish the kingdom?" 00:50:04.77\00:50:07.64 And then even after Jesus ascended to heaven, they didn't 00:50:07.67\00:50:10.71 think they were supposed to preach to the Gentiles, 00:50:10.74\00:50:13.94 and so their knowledge grew with time. 00:50:13.98\00:50:18.51 So, you know, I've preached before and did evangelism and 00:50:18.55\00:50:22.52 lead people to the Lord, but then later I realized, you know, 00:50:22.55\00:50:24.82 I said something that actually wasn't accurate. 00:50:24.85\00:50:27.26 And I, of course, correct that and I grow on my knowledge. 00:50:27.29\00:50:30.79 So I think if a pastor makes a mistake--an honest mistake in 00:50:30.83\00:50:34.56 his teaching 'cause he really believes something and he's just 00:50:34.56\00:50:36.87 misinformed, you know, God is going to wink at that ignorance 00:50:36.90\00:50:39.67 and he'll bless the ministry as much as he can. 00:50:39.70\00:50:42.44 I think there are godly ministers in many churches that 00:50:42.47\00:50:45.07 are doing their best to lead people to Christ and repentance 00:50:45.11\00:50:48.24 and faith and they may not have all their theology square, 00:50:48.28\00:50:51.68 as I'm sure mine isn't perfect. 00:50:51.71\00:50:53.65 But what Jesus is saying here in Matthew chapter 5:19 00:50:53.68\00:50:57.39 is different. 00:50:57.42\00:50:58.82 This is people teaching people to disregard God's commandments. 00:50:58.85\00:51:02.36 Jëan: All right, thank you for your call, Joel. 00:51:02.39\00:51:04.26 We've got Matthew listening in Arizona. 00:51:04.29\00:51:05.93 Matthew, welcome to the program. 00:51:05.96\00:51:07.60 Matthew: How is it going, pastors? 00:51:07.60\00:51:09.23 Blessings. 00:51:09.26\00:51:10.83 Doug: Thank you. 00:51:10.87\00:51:12.43 Matthew: The question is did Noah preach to the whole world 00:51:12.47\00:51:14.97 being that the whole world was flooded? 00:51:15.00\00:51:18.27 Doug: Yeah, but keep in mind that in the time of Noah, while 00:51:18.31\00:51:22.74 there may have been hundreds of thousands or even millions 00:51:22.78\00:51:25.45 of people that lived in the world, I think they were mostly 00:51:25.48\00:51:30.19 restricted to one section of the planet. 00:51:30.22\00:51:33.42 They had not dispersed all over the planet. 00:51:33.46\00:51:36.22 And so, you know, wherever Noah had the ark parked where he was 00:51:36.26\00:51:40.36 preaching, probably not too far from the gates of the Garden 00:51:40.40\00:51:42.50 of Eden, that he was preaching to the people. 00:51:42.53\00:51:46.23 He may have gone on a circuit preaching during the 120 years 00:51:46.27\00:51:50.07 he was building the ark. 00:51:50.11\00:51:51.81 I don't know that he was a global jet-setter back then 00:51:51.84\00:51:54.34 and that there were people all over the planet. 00:51:54.38\00:51:56.91 So I don't know. 00:51:56.95\00:51:59.31 You got any thoughts on that? 00:51:59.35\00:52:00.95 Jëan: Yeah, but I don't think it was just Noah 00:52:00.98\00:52:02.42 that was preaching. 00:52:02.45\00:52:03.75 There were others who passed away bef-- 00:52:03.79\00:52:05.09 Doug: Probably Methuselah, Enoch. 00:52:05.12\00:52:06.42 Jëan: Methuselah and others, yes. 00:52:06.45\00:52:07.76 Doug: Yeah. 00:52:07.79\00:52:09.09 Jëan: They lived for hundreds of years. 00:52:09.12\00:52:10.49 So word got around, people would speak, so even if it wasn't Noah 00:52:10.53\00:52:12.73 speaking, there were others that testified saying 00:52:12.76\00:52:15.36 judgment is coming. 00:52:15.40\00:52:16.70 Doug: Yeah, maybe they had the internet back then. 00:52:16.73\00:52:18.80 Jëan: Maybe, stuff for communications. 00:52:18.83\00:52:21.44 Yeah, all right, well, thank you, Matthew. 00:52:21.47\00:52:23.71 Next caller that we have is Israel in California. 00:52:23.74\00:52:25.97 Israel, welcome to the program. 00:52:26.01\00:52:28.84 Israel: Hi, thank you, and thank you for your ministry. 00:52:28.88\00:52:32.01 It's meant a lot to me. 00:52:32.05\00:52:33.58 Doug: Thank you. 00:52:33.62\00:52:35.02 Israel: My question is concerning transgender theory. 00:52:35.05\00:52:38.55 Is there any way that it correlates with the Bible? 00:52:38.59\00:52:41.22 Is there any way that transgender and queer theory 00:52:41.26\00:52:44.33 some denominations have accepted it? 00:52:44.36\00:52:48.43 What are your thoughts on this as far as it relates 00:52:48.46\00:52:50.47 to the Scriptures? 00:52:50.50\00:52:51.97 Doug: Yeah, well, I'll do my best. 00:52:52.00\00:52:53.50 And I guess I'm pretty simplistic about it in that the 00:52:53.54\00:52:57.34 Bible says that in the beginning God made the male and female. 00:52:57.37\00:53:02.14 Not only is that in Genesis, Jesus quotes it. 00:53:02.18\00:53:05.05 That leaves two options when it comes to gender. 00:53:05.08\00:53:07.32 You're male or you're female. 00:53:07.35\00:53:09.18 And in every human body every female is stamped 00:53:09.22\00:53:14.72 with a XX chromosome, 00:53:14.76\00:53:17.99 while every male is stamped with an XY chromosome. 00:53:18.03\00:53:21.30 So even if a person goes and has some kind of reconstructive 00:53:21.33\00:53:25.80 surgery, their maleness or femaleness is stamped 00:53:25.83\00:53:30.04 on the chromosomes, and that's not changed by that. 00:53:30.07\00:53:32.74 God wants us to celebrate the distinctions about being male 00:53:32.77\00:53:36.28 or being female. 00:53:36.31\00:53:37.78 Now, I--you know, my heart goes out to people that struggle with 00:53:37.81\00:53:41.05 very strong feelings towards sin, 00:53:41.08\00:53:45.22 whatever those feelings might be. 00:53:45.25\00:53:46.79 Everyone struggles with sin, but some people struggle 00:53:46.82\00:53:49.59 with how they feel about being a boy or a girl. 00:53:49.62\00:53:53.03 And while I don't understand it, my hearts go out--my heart goes 00:53:53.06\00:53:55.83 out to them, but I know that we all need to bring our feelings 00:53:55.86\00:53:59.37 in harmony with the Word of God and ask for God to transform us. 00:53:59.40\00:54:03.54 It's called conversion. 00:54:03.57\00:54:05.37 The world doesn't believe in conversion theory, but God does. 00:54:05.41\00:54:09.84 And we can be new creatures. 00:54:09.88\00:54:12.95 The Bible is pretty clear. 00:54:12.98\00:54:14.88 Deuteronomy chapter 22, verse 5 the Lord says, 00:54:14.92\00:54:19.29 "A man shall not put on the garment of a woman, 00:54:19.32\00:54:22.06 nor shall a woman put on a man's garment. 00:54:22.09\00:54:24.56 All that do so are an abomination to the Lord." 00:54:24.59\00:54:27.50 The Lord wants us to not only celebrate but to preserve 00:54:27.56\00:54:31.13 the distinction between men and women. 00:54:31.17\00:54:33.80 And in the last days the devil is attacking every institution 00:54:33.84\00:54:37.21 that God established in the Garden of Eden. 00:54:37.24\00:54:39.91 The devil is attacking. 00:54:39.94\00:54:41.68 Well, we've talked about the Sabbath night. 00:54:41.71\00:54:43.28 He's attacking that day of rest, 00:54:43.31\00:54:44.75 and people are working themselves to death. 00:54:44.78\00:54:46.25 The devil is attacking family and the devil is even 00:54:46.28\00:54:49.12 attacking just the distinction in the genders. 00:54:49.15\00:54:51.55 So everything you see established in the Garden 00:54:51.59\00:54:53.52 of Eden is sort of under attack right now, 00:54:53.56\00:54:56.26 and that would be part of it. 00:54:56.29\00:54:57.89 Hey, for our friends listening, we're going to sign off 00:54:57.93\00:55:00.36 in two stages. 00:55:00.40\00:55:01.96 God bless to those listening on satellite. 00:55:02.00\00:55:03.47 Stay tuned. 00:55:03.50\00:55:04.90 The rest of you, coming back in just a moment 00:55:04.93\00:55:06.63 with rapid fire Bible questions. 00:55:06.67\00:55:08.24 Stick with us. 00:55:08.27\00:55:10.31 announcer: Thank you for listening to today's broadcast. 00:55:12.11\00:55:14.51 We hope you understand your Bible even better than before. 00:55:14.54\00:55:18.41 "Bible Answers Live" is produced by Amazing Facts International, 00:55:18.45\00:55:22.25 a faith-based ministry located in Granite Bay, California. 00:55:22.28\00:55:26.92 Jëan: Hello, friends. Welcome back. 00:55:27.99\00:55:29.76 And as you can see, we can't take the radio programs. 00:55:29.79\00:55:33.16 But with those of you who stayed around on AFTV and you're 00:55:33.19\00:55:36.00 watching on the internet, we have just 2 minutes 00:55:36.03\00:55:37.57 to answer the email questions that have been sent in. 00:55:37.60\00:55:40.90 If you have an email question, just simply send it to 00:55:40.94\00:55:43.51 BALquestions@amazingfacts.org. 00:55:43.54\00:55:47.84 All right, pastor, that first caller that we have-- 00:55:47.88\00:55:50.08 or first question that's been emailed to us, 00:55:50.11\00:55:51.75 I should say, which of the member of the Trinity 00:55:51.78\00:55:54.48 spoke to the prophets, for example, Moses or Isaiah? 00:55:54.52\00:55:58.15 Doug: Well, when you say which member of the Trinity, 00:55:58.19\00:55:59.89 Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit, the Father typically 00:55:59.92\00:56:02.42 communicates to us through the Son and through the Spirit. 00:56:02.46\00:56:06.36 There are a few times where you had what they call a 00:56:06.39\00:56:08.90 Christophany, where it seems that Jesus may have been the one 00:56:08.93\00:56:12.37 that actually wrestled with Jacob and Jesus who spoke 00:56:12.40\00:56:15.70 to Moses and Jesus who met with Abraham. 00:56:15.74\00:56:19.14 So there are examples of Christ himself coming 00:56:19.17\00:56:22.18 to earth and speaking. 00:56:22.21\00:56:24.11 Most of the time God spoke through the Holy Spirit. 00:56:24.15\00:56:27.38 And I think it says that through the Spirit, 00:56:27.42\00:56:29.32 God spoke to the prophets. 00:56:29.35\00:56:30.89 Jëan: Holy men of old, yeah. 00:56:30.92\00:56:32.22 Doug: Holy men of old spoke as they were moved 00:56:32.25\00:56:33.56 by the Holy Spirit. 00:56:33.59\00:56:34.82 So in most cases it would be the function of the third person of 00:56:34.86\00:56:39.19 the Godhead, the Holy Spirit, to communicate the will 00:56:39.23\00:56:42.00 and the mind of God to the prophets 00:56:42.03\00:56:43.77 and the patriarchs and the kings. 00:56:43.80\00:56:45.53 Jëan: All right, very good. 00:56:45.57\00:56:47.00 Pastor Doug, here's a question. 00:56:47.04\00:56:48.34 Galatians 2:18 is the verse. 00:56:48.37\00:56:50.61 And the person is asking about what law is being referred 00:56:50.64\00:56:54.34 to here in Galatians chapter 2, verse 18. 00:56:54.38\00:56:57.31 Doug: All right, now, I think we need to read more 00:56:57.35\00:56:58.91 than just verse 18. 00:56:58.95\00:57:00.35 It says in verse 17, "But if, while we seek to be justified 00:57:00.38\00:57:04.25 by Christ, we ourselves are also found sinners, is Christ 00:57:04.29\00:57:07.62 therefore a minister of sin? 00:57:07.66\00:57:09.26 Certainly not. 00:57:09.29\00:57:10.89 For if I build again the things that I destroyed, 00:57:10.93\00:57:12.73 I make myself a transgressor." 00:57:12.76\00:57:14.30 That's verse 18. 00:57:14.30\00:57:15.70 "For I through the law died to the law that I might get-- 00:57:15.73\00:57:19.43 might live unto God." 00:57:19.47\00:57:21.47 Well, of course, according to the law we're all guilty of sin. 00:57:21.50\00:57:24.71 We are condemned through the law. 00:57:24.74\00:57:26.91 The penalty for sin is death. 00:57:26.94\00:57:29.04 But when we come to Christ, we die to self. 00:57:29.08\00:57:32.01 That's what Paul is talking about. 00:57:32.05\00:57:33.42 We take up our cross and we follow Jesus 00:57:33.45\00:57:35.68 and we're dead to law and we're dead to the pen-- 00:57:35.72\00:57:39.25 now, it doesn't mean we don't disobey the law, 00:57:39.29\00:57:41.46 but we're dead to the penalty of the law 00:57:41.49\00:57:43.19 through the sacrifice of Jesus. 00:57:43.22\00:57:45.09 Now, we live lives of obedience through the power of Christ. 00:57:45.13\00:57:48.80 Jëan: Okay. 00:57:48.83\00:57:50.37 Doug: We're not doing it because it's the law, 00:57:50.40\00:57:51.70 but because we love the Lord. 00:57:51.73\00:57:53.03 Jëan: Amen. All right, last question. 00:57:53.07\00:57:54.47 How do you respond to somebody if they keep telling you that, 00:57:54.50\00:57:56.44 "Well, that's just your understanding of the verse?" 00:57:56.47\00:57:59.11 Doug: Well, Peter warns against those who have 00:57:59.14\00:58:01.04 a private interpretation. 00:58:01.08\00:58:03.21 We shouldn't all be coming to our own feelings about it. 00:58:03.24\00:58:06.28 We need to compare Scripture with Scripture. 00:58:06.31\00:58:08.95 And I believe when you do that, that's how you find evidence 00:58:08.98\00:58:12.35 to arrive at truth. 00:58:12.39\00:58:14.39 We want to thank you for tuning in to "Bible Answers Live," 00:58:14.42\00:58:16.29 and we'll study again next week. 00:58:16.32\00:58:18.16 God bless. 00:58:18.19\00:58:20.26 announcer: "Bible Answers Live," honest and accurate 00:58:20.30\00:58:22.80 answers to your Bible questions. 00:58:22.83\00:58:25.80
