male announcer: It is the best-selling book in history. 00:00:02.93\00:00:05.73 No volume ever written has been more loved and quoted, 00:00:05.87\00:00:09.90 and its words, sometimes simple and sometimes mysterious, 00:00:10.01\00:00:13.51 should always be studied carefully. 00:00:13.64\00:00:16.44 It is the Bible, the Word of God. 00:00:16.48\00:00:19.95 Welcome to "Bible Answers Live," providing accurate 00:00:19.98\00:00:23.62 and practical answers to all your Bible questions. 00:00:23.65\00:00:28.29 This broadcast is a previously recorded episode. 00:00:28.32\00:00:31.46 To receive any of the Bible resources mentioned 00:00:31.49\00:00:33.60 in this broadcast, call 800-835-6747. 00:00:33.63\00:00:38.77 Once again, that's 800-835-6747. 00:00:38.80\00:00:44.01 Now, here's your host from Amazing Facts International, 00:00:44.04\00:00:47.84 Pastor Doug Batchelor. 00:00:47.88\00:00:49.94 Doug Batchelor: Hello, friends. 00:00:49.98\00:00:51.28 Would you like to hear an amazing fact? 00:00:51.31\00:00:53.11 He is being called the polygamist of the century. 00:00:53.15\00:00:57.45 In 2022, Arabic papers and TV reported on a Saudi man who 00:00:57.49\00:01:02.42 married 53 times in 43 years, in an effort to find peace 00:01:02.46\00:01:07.73 in his life, ostensibly. 00:01:07.76\00:01:09.56 The 63-year-old man, called Abu Abdullah, 00:01:09.60\00:01:12.70 confirmed on Saudi television that he did not look 00:01:12.73\00:01:15.97 for personal pleasure in his multiple marriages, 00:01:16.00\00:01:18.24 but for stability and emotional comfort. 00:01:18.27\00:01:21.34 Abdullah got married for the first time at the age of 20. 00:01:21.38\00:01:24.15 His wife was six years older than him. 00:01:24.18\00:01:26.48 He thought a more mature woman would offer stability, 00:01:26.51\00:01:29.62 but when they fought, he married a second wife. 00:01:29.65\00:01:33.32 He pointed out that when a problem arose 00:01:33.36\00:01:35.56 between his first and his second wife, he thought the solution 00:01:35.59\00:01:38.69 would be to marry a third and a fourth wife. 00:01:38.73\00:01:42.03 And after some time, he divorced the first, 00:01:42.06\00:01:44.10 and the second, and the third wife to satisfy the fourth wife, 00:01:44.13\00:01:47.47 and so the soap opera continued for 43 years. 00:01:47.50\00:01:51.71 You know, in recent decades, the number of men married 00:01:51.74\00:01:54.21 to more than one woman has decreased in the Arab world, 00:01:54.24\00:01:57.38 but it is still legal in 58 countries, 00:01:57.41\00:02:00.55 mostly because the Qur'an specifically allows 00:02:00.58\00:02:03.18 for up to four wives. 00:02:03.22\00:02:05.15 Abu Abdullah emphasized to the media that he's now 00:02:05.19\00:02:08.12 married to only one woman and does not plan to marry again. 00:02:08.16\00:02:11.99 Yes, we'll wait and see. 00:02:12.03\00:02:15.10 You know, it makes me think, Pastor Crews, about Solomon. 00:02:15.13\00:02:19.93 It tells us in the Bible, Solomon, 00:02:19.97\00:02:22.04 I don't know that he's been beat by too many, 00:02:22.07\00:02:24.74 but 1 Kings 11 verse 3, it says he had 700 wives and princesses, 00:02:24.77\00:02:29.18 and 300 concubines. 00:02:29.21\00:02:31.98 But all of that marrying and divorcing is obviously 00:02:32.01\00:02:37.12 not God's plan. 00:02:37.15\00:02:38.45 And I should maybe say for our friends that are watching 00:02:38.49\00:02:40.16 right now, I'd like to welcome Pastor Aaron Crews who is here, 00:02:40.19\00:02:43.89 and he is one of our associates at the Granite Bay Church 00:02:43.93\00:02:46.63 where we pastor. 00:02:46.66\00:02:47.96 Pastor Ross is on his way overseas right now 00:02:47.96\00:02:50.60 on a mission project, and this is Pastor Aaron's second time, 00:02:50.63\00:02:54.17 first time with me. 00:02:54.20\00:02:55.77 Aaron Crews: Yeah, the first time. 00:02:55.80\00:02:57.24 Probably a few months ago I was with Pastor Jean, 00:02:57.27\00:02:59.44 we had a blast. 00:02:59.47\00:03:00.84 I was helping him out, fielding a few questions, 00:03:00.88\00:03:02.94 so I'm happy to be here with you, Pastor Doug, 00:03:02.98\00:03:05.98 and happy to answer your questions. 00:03:06.01\00:03:08.45 Doug: You know, and if his last name sounds familiar, 00:03:08.48\00:03:11.19 it's because we've been giving away his grandfather's books 00:03:11.22\00:03:14.59 on this program for 25 years now. 00:03:14.62\00:03:16.99 That's right, Pastor Aaron, I think your real name 00:03:17.03\00:03:19.43 is technically Joseph, is that right? 00:03:19.46\00:03:21.26 Aaron: Yes, it's now legally my middle name. 00:03:21.30\00:03:24.70 So, I am Joe Crews. 00:03:24.73\00:03:26.63 For all of you Joe Crews fans, I am the grandson 00:03:26.67\00:03:29.20 and inherited his name to an extent. 00:03:29.24\00:03:32.64 Doug: So, I think that's really neat the way the Lord 00:03:32.67\00:03:34.91 worked all that out, and we are still giving away 00:03:34.94\00:03:36.98 Joe Crews books. 00:03:37.01\00:03:38.41 But back to our subject about marriage, and by the way, 00:03:38.45\00:03:41.48 I was telling Pastor Crews, 00:03:41.52\00:03:42.95 I said I'm not picking on you, 00:03:42.98\00:03:44.29 because he's getting married in a few weeks. 00:03:44.32\00:03:46.15 Aaron: Amen, one month, just one month away. 00:03:46.19\00:03:49.99 My fiancé is actually here in the studio. 00:03:50.03\00:03:51.89 She won't be making an appearance, 00:03:51.93\00:03:54.83 but she is here to support me, and I'm really excited 00:03:54.83\00:03:57.93 about that. 00:03:57.97\00:03:59.27 And I do not plan, Katie, if you can here me over there, 00:03:59.30\00:04:01.87 I do not plan on having more than you as my wife. 00:04:01.90\00:04:05.21 So, yes, I'll try to follow the biblical model on that. 00:04:05.24\00:04:09.44 Doug: That's right, and we've got a Scripture that talks 00:04:09.48\00:04:10.91 about that, because I think we all know that some countries, 00:04:10.95\00:04:15.15 not only do they have multiple marriages, 00:04:15.18\00:04:17.05 but some people do it by they get married and divorced, 00:04:17.09\00:04:19.95 and they remarry and then they divorce, 00:04:19.99\00:04:21.76 and then they remarry, and I was sharing with our crew 00:04:21.79\00:04:24.53 before the program, my dad was married five times, 00:04:24.56\00:04:27.03 and my mother was married four times, 00:04:27.03\00:04:28.80 and that happens quite a bit in North America. 00:04:28.83\00:04:32.90 But what did Jesus say? 00:04:32.93\00:04:34.44 Matthew 19 verse 4, "And He answered and said to them, 00:04:34.47\00:04:38.14 'Have you not read that He that made them at the beginning, 00:04:38.17\00:04:41.34 male and female, and He said, 'For this reason a man shall 00:04:41.38\00:04:44.95 leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, 00:04:44.98\00:04:47.78 and the two shall become one flesh. 00:04:47.82\00:04:50.25 So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. 00:04:50.29\00:04:54.16 Therefore, what God has joined together, 00:04:54.19\00:04:56.59 let not man separate.'" 00:04:56.62\00:04:59.06 And we get a lot of questions during 00:04:59.09\00:05:01.43 our broadcasts that have to do with marriage, 00:05:01.46\00:05:03.87 and divorce, and does a person have a right to remarry, 00:05:03.90\00:05:06.84 and what are grounds for divorce, 00:05:06.87\00:05:08.30 and we have a special offer today. 00:05:08.34\00:05:10.54 We don't offer this often, but it's a book called 00:05:10.57\00:05:14.24 "What the Bible Says About Marriage, Divorce, 00:05:14.28\00:05:17.05 and Remarriage." 00:05:17.08\00:05:18.75 And we're going to give that away free tonight 00:05:18.78\00:05:21.05 for those who would like to get a copy of that. 00:05:21.08\00:05:23.55 How do they do it? 00:05:23.59\00:05:25.05 Aaron: Yeah, well, you can simply go to your- 00:05:25.09\00:05:28.09 if you have a cellphone, you can simply dial #250, 00:05:28.12\00:05:34.20 and then say to your mobile device, 00:05:34.23\00:05:36.56 "Bible Answers Live." 00:05:36.60\00:05:38.30 That is #250, and they say, "Bible Answers Live." 00:05:38.33\00:05:42.60 But if you don't have a cellphone and 00:05:42.64\00:05:44.91 you have just a regular phone, some of us still have those, 00:05:44.94\00:05:47.51 you can call 1-800-835-6747. 00:05:47.54\00:05:54.02 Doug: Amen, well, before we get to the phones 00:05:54.05\00:05:56.45 and our questions for tonight, Pastor Aaron, 00:05:56.48\00:05:59.02 you want to go ahead and have prayer for us? 00:05:59.05\00:06:01.29 Aaron: I would love to. Let's bow our heads. 00:06:01.32\00:06:03.36 Dear heavenly Father, thank you for this day of life 00:06:03.39\00:06:05.93 that you have given to us. 00:06:05.96\00:06:07.60 Lord, I pray that you may speak through us this evening as 00:06:07.66\00:06:11.50 we answer Bible questions with your answers by God's grace. 00:06:11.53\00:06:15.80 Fill us with your Spirit, we pray in Jesus's name, amen. 00:06:15.84\00:06:19.44 Doug: Amen, alright, are you ready? 00:06:19.47\00:06:22.44 Let's go to the phones, see what's coming up. 00:06:22.48\00:06:24.15 Aaron: Alright, well, our first caller for this evening 00:06:24.18\00:06:26.48 is Jo calling in from Washington. 00:06:26.51\00:06:29.72 Hello, Jo, are you here? 00:06:29.75\00:06:31.29 What is your question this evening? 00:06:31.32\00:06:32.99 Jo: I am, thank you, what a pleasure. 00:06:34.29\00:06:36.96 Can you hear me? 00:06:36.99\00:06:39.03 Doug: Loud and clear. Aaron: Yes, loud and clear. 00:06:39.06\00:06:41.33 Jo: Okay, I have a friend and she's a new friend, 00:06:41.36\00:06:46.23 and I'm white, and she is a person of color, 00:06:46.27\00:06:50.37 and we talk about race a lot because I'm married 00:06:50.41\00:06:52.97 to a black man, so it opens the door 00:06:53.01\00:06:56.75 about the mystery of racism. 00:06:56.78\00:06:59.45 And she told me that her people believe that God struck them 00:06:59.48\00:07:09.46 with a curse because of a sin. 00:07:09.49\00:07:17.23 She didn't know what sin, and that is why 00:07:17.27\00:07:20.37 they have spent centuries being abused and, you know? 00:07:20.40\00:07:27.88 Doug: Yes, I know exactly what you're talking about. 00:07:27.91\00:07:30.31 Jo: I don't believe that, but I do not know where to go 00:07:30.35\00:07:33.75 in the Bible to combat that, and I don't know where it came from. 00:07:33.78\00:07:41.22 Doug: Well, we're going to share with you. 00:07:41.26\00:07:42.92 If you look in the Book of Genesis, 00:07:42.96\00:07:45.69 when it's talking about Noah, and I think you might find 00:07:45.73\00:07:48.96 this in Genesis 9 where it says in verse 20, 00:07:49.00\00:07:52.40 "Noah became a farmer, and he planted a vineyard. 00:07:52.43\00:07:54.77 Then he drank the wine and was drunk, 00:07:54.80\00:07:57.11 and he became uncovered in his tent." 00:07:57.14\00:07:59.31 He was kind of stumbling around drunk and unclothed. 00:07:59.34\00:08:01.91 "And him, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness 00:08:01.94\00:08:05.91 of his father," and instead of, you know, 00:08:05.95\00:08:08.05 just covering his father up, he went out and I think 00:08:08.08\00:08:10.65 he and his son Canaan kind of laughed at their father 00:08:10.69\00:08:13.66 who was stumbling around drunk in the tent and was uncovered. 00:08:13.69\00:08:16.99 But Shem and Japheth went and they backed into the tent 00:08:17.03\00:08:21.23 with a rope and they covered him up. 00:08:21.26\00:08:22.83 And then Noah, when he sobers up, 00:08:22.86\00:08:24.70 he pronounced a curse on Ham. 00:08:24.73\00:08:26.77 And there are those who have said that the three sons of Noah 00:08:26.80\00:08:30.51 created the three races, and that Ham was black, 00:08:30.54\00:08:34.41 and Japheth was Asian, and Shem was Caucasian, 00:08:34.44\00:08:37.15 and there's no Bible truth to that. 00:08:37.18\00:08:39.61 I think some people used that years ago to try and endorse 00:08:39.65\00:08:42.68 slavery, and they, you know, made a case that Ham 00:08:42.72\00:08:45.95 was the father of all the African people, 00:08:45.99\00:08:48.76 but you don't really have the nations dividing until you get 00:08:48.79\00:08:51.83 to Genesis chapter 11, and they basically got together based 00:08:51.86\00:08:56.46 on what languages they could understand. 00:08:56.50\00:08:59.27 It had nothing to do with the color of skin. 00:08:59.30\00:09:01.40 So, the races didn't really grow their distinctions 00:09:01.44\00:09:04.94 until the people did separate, and though the way genetics 00:09:04.97\00:09:08.78 works is through intermarriage over many generations, 00:09:08.81\00:09:11.68 certain traits become dominant. 00:09:11.71\00:09:13.98 So, that was a myth that has been perpetrated, 00:09:14.02\00:09:17.59 and some people, I guess, still repeat it, 00:09:17.62\00:09:19.95 but it's absurd and it's not biblical. 00:09:19.99\00:09:22.89 Aaron: Yeah, good answer, Pastor Doug. 00:09:22.92\00:09:25.46 And another verse that kind of comes to my mind is 00:09:25.49\00:09:27.56 actually the second commandment. 00:09:27.60\00:09:30.57 In Exodus 20 verse 5, it talks about, 00:09:30.60\00:09:32.73 "I, the Lord Your God, am a jealous God, 00:09:32.77\00:09:35.00 visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to 00:09:35.04\00:09:37.17 the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me." 00:09:37.21\00:09:41.11 Ham certainly committed a bad sin against his father, 00:09:41.14\00:09:44.51 but there's no evidence that that sin carried 00:09:44.55\00:09:47.08 on the consequences for hundreds and hundreds of generations, 00:09:47.12\00:09:51.12 right? 00:09:51.15\00:09:52.45 That's just not something there. 00:09:52.49\00:09:54.09 But hey, thanks, Jo, so much for asking that question. 00:09:54.12\00:09:57.29 Next, we have Ronald calling in from Massachusetts. 00:09:57.33\00:10:01.43 Hello, Ronald, are you there? 00:10:01.46\00:10:02.86 What is your question: 00:10:02.90\00:10:04.40 Ronald: Hello, pastors, thank you for taking my call. 00:10:05.27\00:10:07.10 Can you hear me? 00:10:07.14\00:10:08.44 Doug: Yes, loud and clear. 00:10:08.47\00:10:10.64 Ronald: Awesome, so I have a few questions, 00:10:10.67\00:10:13.24 but I told you I'd ask just one, and the most important 00:10:13.27\00:10:15.88 for right now is about the Sabbath. 00:10:15.91\00:10:18.48 So, I've been impressed on by the Holy Spirit to start keeping 00:10:18.51\00:10:21.62 the Sabbath, and in doing my research about the Sabbath, 00:10:21.65\00:10:26.32 I found that, like, I have family in different countries 00:10:26.35\00:10:30.36 where they are many hours ahead of us, 00:10:30.39\00:10:33.29 so they're already in Sabbath and we're behind, 00:10:33.33\00:10:37.07 but then I also found that there is countries that are 00:10:37.10\00:10:39.60 a whole day ahead of us, and other countries that 00:10:39.63\00:10:43.67 don't even have sunsets certain times of the year. 00:10:43.71\00:10:46.91 So, they say that keeping Sabbath was just for the nation 00:10:46.94\00:10:51.31 of Israel back then. 00:10:51.35\00:10:53.52 Just wondering how is the best way, 00:10:53.55\00:10:57.49 with all of this evidence, to explain that we still have 00:10:57.52\00:11:00.52 to keep the Sabbath, and that the Bible actually 00:11:00.56\00:11:03.19 supports all of us as mankind to keep the Sabbath? 00:11:03.22\00:11:09.76 Doug: Yeah, well, of course the Sabbath begins and ends with 00:11:10.83\00:11:13.34 sunset, according to the Bible, on the seventh day of the week, 00:11:13.37\00:11:17.11 or as the seventh day begins. 00:11:17.14\00:11:19.31 You keep the Sabbath when it gets to you. 00:11:19.34\00:11:21.94 You know, if you're taking a plane around the world, 00:11:21.98\00:11:24.78 when do you get on the plane? 00:11:24.81\00:11:26.11 Well, when it lands and it's at your destination. 00:11:26.15\00:11:28.52 It's interesting you would mention that, 00:11:28.55\00:11:30.05 because as I speak right now, I'm here in California, 00:11:30.09\00:11:33.05 my wife has gone ahead of me to Australia, 00:11:33.09\00:11:36.69 and she was enjoying the Sabbath over there before the Sabbath 00:11:36.73\00:11:41.10 had come to me, because they're about a day ahead. 00:11:41.13\00:11:43.53 But I don't find any complication with that, 00:11:43.57\00:11:48.30 and I always think it's interesting this question 00:11:48.34\00:11:50.14 comes up when people learn the Sabbath truth, 00:11:50.17\00:11:52.07 because folks don't have any problem getting to church 00:11:52.11\00:11:54.31 on Sunday, even though they're in different time zones. 00:11:54.34\00:11:57.81 They go to church when the day gets there. 00:11:57.85\00:12:00.78 And so, we keep the Sabbath when it comes to us based on the sun, 00:12:00.82\00:12:04.65 and the time, and the days. 00:12:04.69\00:12:06.09 Everybody in the world, even the North Pole, 00:12:06.12\00:12:08.16 they've got a seven-day week, so yeah, it's not a problem. 00:12:08.19\00:12:14.23 Aaron: Yeah, hey, Ronald, thank you so much 00:12:14.30\00:12:17.07 for your question. 00:12:17.10\00:12:18.60 Doug: You know, I might mention to Ronald 00:12:18.63\00:12:19.93 just one more thing. 00:12:19.97\00:12:21.27 You know, we have a website, Ronald, 00:12:21.30\00:12:22.60 and it's called SabbathTruth.com. 00:12:22.64\00:12:25.04 It's one of the most popular websites on the subject, 00:12:25.07\00:12:27.28 just reams of information on the Sabbath. 00:12:27.31\00:12:29.61 If you just go to SabbathTruth.com, 00:12:29.64\00:12:32.25 and for our friends that are listening that are bilingual, 00:12:32.28\00:12:35.98 speak Spanish, it's also in Spanish, 00:12:36.02\00:12:38.52 it's SabadoBiblico.com. 00:12:38.55\00:12:41.59 And just has a whole encyclopedia of questions 00:12:41.62\00:12:45.29 and answers, including this one. 00:12:45.33\00:12:47.20 Thanks so much for your question. 00:12:47.23\00:12:48.80 Aaron: Yes, alright, our next caller is calling in from Ohio, 00:12:48.83\00:12:53.50 and his name is Glen. 00:12:53.54\00:12:55.34 Hello, Glen, are you there with us? 00:12:55.37\00:12:57.81 Glen: Yes, I am, thank you very much for taking my call. 00:12:57.84\00:13:00.88 My question concerns the feasts of Leviticus 23. 00:13:00.91\00:13:04.78 People tell me I'm fussy about it, 00:13:04.81\00:13:06.58 but you know, those are not Jewish feasts. 00:13:06.61\00:13:09.48 God says tell the children of Israel these are My feasts, 00:13:09.52\00:13:13.05 and it's a capital M, so we're talking about feasts of God. 00:13:13.09\00:13:16.26 And the question I have about this is there seems to be 00:13:16.29\00:13:19.29 an aloofness among people about the keeping of the feasts, 00:13:19.33\00:13:23.43 whether they should be or should not be, 00:13:23.47\00:13:26.27 or they're not for Christians, and a lot of different say so 00:13:26.30\00:13:29.70 about whether they should be kept or not. 00:13:29.74\00:13:31.91 And my question is, is should we be keeping the feasts in lieu 00:13:31.94\00:13:35.44 of the Scripture in Zechariah chapter 14 verses 16 through 19. 00:13:35.48\00:13:43.45 Does that have any bearing on whether we should keep 00:13:43.49\00:13:45.79 the Feast of Tabernacles in this case or not? 00:13:45.82\00:13:48.29 Doug: Well, I tell you what. 00:13:48.32\00:13:49.62 Let me do something, Glen, for the benefit of our friends 00:13:49.66\00:13:51.59 that are listening, I'm going to read that in Zechariah 14. 00:13:51.63\00:13:54.76 "Judah also will fight at Jerusalem, 00:13:54.83\00:13:57.40 and the wealth of all the surrounding nations 00:13:57.43\00:13:59.20 shall be gathered together. 00:13:59.23\00:14:00.64 Gold, silver, and apparel in great abundance. 00:14:00.67\00:14:02.84 Such shall be the plague on the horse and on the mule, 00:14:02.87\00:14:05.44 and on the camel in that day," 00:14:05.47\00:14:06.98 and I think you want to especially go to verse 16. 00:14:07.01\00:14:11.21 "And it will come to pass everyone who is left of all the 00:14:11.25\00:14:13.28 nations which have come against Jerusalem shall go out from year 00:14:13.31\00:14:16.15 to year and worship the King, the Lord of Hosts, 00:14:16.18\00:14:18.59 and keep the Feast of Tabernacles." 00:14:18.62\00:14:20.36 Now, the Feast of Tabernacles was their memorial 00:14:20.39\00:14:24.16 of their deliverance from slavery. 00:14:24.19\00:14:27.66 And we will be remembering that God has saved us 00:14:27.73\00:14:32.30 from the slavery of sin, 00:14:32.33\00:14:34.30 so I think this is just a symbol. 00:14:34.34\00:14:39.11 Of course, when it's talking about going up to Jerusalem, 00:14:39.14\00:14:43.01 it's talking about the new Jerusalem we believe 00:14:43.04\00:14:45.28 is in heaven. 00:14:45.31\00:14:46.61 You can read in Isaiah chapter 66 where it says, 00:14:46.65\00:14:50.15 "And from one new moon to another, 00:14:50.19\00:14:51.95 and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship 00:14:51.99\00:14:55.32 before the Lord." 00:14:55.36\00:14:56.69 So, among those 52 Sabbaths in a year, 00:14:56.73\00:14:59.46 one will be a special way of remembering our redemption. 00:14:59.49\00:15:03.43 Now, I would say to a person that if you want to keep 00:15:03.47\00:15:06.10 the feasts, enjoy yourself. 00:15:06.13\00:15:10.24 Paul says in Romans chapter 14, "One man regards one day 00:15:10.27\00:15:13.11 above another, another man regards every day alike." 00:15:13.14\00:15:15.68 He says if you're going to regard a day, 00:15:15.71\00:15:17.88 regard it for the Lord. 00:15:17.91\00:15:19.51 If you're not going to regard the day to the Lord, 00:15:19.55\00:15:21.55 you do not regard it. 00:15:21.58\00:15:22.88 He's speaking specifically about the feasts there and not the 00:15:22.92\00:15:27.22 Sabbath of the Ten Commandments, which was part 00:15:27.26\00:15:29.29 of God's perfect plan. 00:15:29.32\00:15:30.76 The feasts all came as a result of sin. 00:15:30.79\00:15:33.29 The Sabbath of the Ten Commandments 00:15:33.33\00:15:34.60 was in the Garden of Eden. 00:15:34.63\00:15:35.93 It goes back to the beginning. 00:15:35.96\00:15:37.43 But we do have a book we can offer you a free copy, Glen, 00:15:37.47\00:15:40.50 and it talks about the feasts. 00:15:40.54\00:15:43.44 And if you call Amazing Facts, call that resource number 00:15:43.47\00:15:45.61 and ask for the booklet "Dealing with the Feasts." 00:15:45.64\00:15:48.78 Aaron: Yeah, that's a great resource. 00:15:48.81\00:15:50.61 Just a few extra verses I want to kind of throw in there. 00:15:50.65\00:15:53.21 So, there's a prophecy in Daniel chapter 9 foretelling 00:15:53.25\00:15:57.25 the arrival of the Messiah, and there in Daniel chapter 9 00:15:57.29\00:16:00.92 verse 27, it says that the Messiah, He, "Shall bring 00:16:00.96\00:16:04.66 an end to sacrifice and offering," right? 00:16:04.69\00:16:07.66 Foretelling that the various cultic rituals that God himself 00:16:07.73\00:16:11.87 had established that were shadows pointing to Himself 00:16:11.90\00:16:14.77 would no longer be kept in the same way that his people did 00:16:14.80\00:16:20.31 in the old covenant, Old Testament era, right? 00:16:20.34\00:16:23.24 So, nowadays, it would be impossible to fulfill 00:16:23.28\00:16:26.78 to the letter of the law all of the various feasts. 00:16:26.82\00:16:29.95 You'd have to go, number one, to the temple in Jerusalem, 00:16:29.98\00:16:33.52 which isn't there, right? 00:16:33.56\00:16:35.42 You'd have to bring an animal sacrifice, 00:16:35.46\00:16:37.69 which New Testament makes quite clear those were just shadows 00:16:37.73\00:16:40.53 of the sacrifice of Jesus. 00:16:40.56\00:16:42.26 So, if you're going to insist on keeping some of these 00:16:42.30\00:16:45.47 in the exact same way of the Old Testament, 00:16:45.50\00:16:48.60 it's going to be quite difficult, 00:16:48.64\00:16:50.31 and I don't think it's something that the Scripture commands us 00:16:50.34\00:16:54.54 to do explicitly any longer. 00:16:54.58\00:16:57.08 Doug: Yeah, when Jesus died on the cross, 00:16:57.11\00:16:58.41 it says the veil in the temple was torn from top to bottom, 00:16:58.45\00:17:01.58 and this indicated that the whole ceremonial system 00:17:01.62\00:17:04.32 of sacrifices and feasts, and that's what it's talking 00:17:04.35\00:17:08.12 about also in Colossians. 00:17:08.16\00:17:09.99 You know, that's all nailed in Colossians chapter 2. 00:17:10.03\00:17:13.43 Aaron: Yeah, that's another good one. 00:17:13.46\00:17:15.00 Well, thanks so much for your question, Glen. 00:17:15.03\00:17:17.50 Our next caller is Junith, calling in from Nevada, 00:17:17.53\00:17:21.90 hello, Junith. 00:17:21.94\00:17:25.27 Junith: Hello, Pastor Aaron and Pastor Doug, 00:17:25.31\00:17:27.78 can you hear me? 00:17:27.81\00:17:29.11 Doug: Yes, very well. 00:17:29.14\00:17:30.75 Junith: Okay, good, very well. 00:17:30.78\00:17:32.48 Thank you for taking my call. 00:17:32.51\00:17:35.22 Anyway, my question is about the deception of Eve 00:17:35.25\00:17:42.79 around the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. 00:17:42.82\00:17:46.76 I am not so convinced that Eve got deceived 00:17:46.80\00:17:51.23 because of her curiosity. 00:17:51.27\00:17:53.17 So, can you please give us an answer 00:17:53.20\00:17:56.94 as to the biblical perspective? 00:17:56.97\00:18:00.11 Was it because of the presence of the one third of the angels 00:18:00.14\00:18:03.31 that was deceived by the devil, or Satan was around the tree 00:18:03.35\00:18:07.28 as well? 00:18:07.32\00:18:08.75 That because the devil got Eve into a conversation, 00:18:08.78\00:18:15.56 they had the chance of devouring kind of-- 00:18:15.59\00:18:20.76 Eve there, that they put her in a cloudy state of mind where 00:18:20.80\00:18:24.90 the instruction of God was very, very crystal clear not to even 00:18:24.93\00:18:29.64 touch, not to eat of the fruit 00:18:29.67\00:18:32.24 of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. 00:18:32.27\00:18:35.24 Doug: Okay, well, for one thing, 00:18:35.28\00:18:37.05 how was Eve deceived so easily? 00:18:37.08\00:18:40.42 You mentioned that, well, we know the devil was there 00:18:40.45\00:18:42.58 possessing the serpent. 00:18:42.62\00:18:44.15 Could he have other fallen angels that were there 00:18:44.19\00:18:46.72 that were whispering in her ear? 00:18:46.76\00:18:49.46 Possibly, the Bible doesn't say, but I would also think that 00:18:49.49\00:18:52.09 God's got good angels that may have been trying to encourage 00:18:52.13\00:18:54.93 her to make the right decision, and his Spirit within her. 00:18:54.93\00:18:58.63 But there's a few things that play here, 00:18:58.67\00:19:01.10 one is the devil played upon the very things that attracted him. 00:19:01.14\00:19:05.31 He said, "You will be like God," he was saying to Eve, you know. 00:19:05.34\00:19:07.94 You'll have special powers. 00:19:07.98\00:19:09.28 Look, I was just a serpent and now I can talk. 00:19:09.31\00:19:13.52 Look what eating the fruit did for me and you can have 00:19:13.55\00:19:15.38 this power and God's trying to keep something from you, 00:19:15.42\00:19:17.35 So, that of course, got her curiosity. 00:19:17.39\00:19:19.75 The desire for more power was attractive. 00:19:19.79\00:19:23.06 And also, Eve had never heard a lie before. 00:19:23.09\00:19:27.36 I know it's hard for us to imagine living 00:19:27.40\00:19:28.90 in a world of innocence where everyone tells the truth, 00:19:28.93\00:19:32.67 and she had to grapple with the fact 00:19:32.70\00:19:35.94 that she was being deceived. 00:19:35.97\00:19:37.27 Someone was stating an outright lie, 00:19:37.31\00:19:39.31 or at least a partial lie. 00:19:39.34\00:19:41.28 He said, "Has God said you shouldn't eat 00:19:41.31\00:19:42.61 from any of the trees?" 00:19:42.64\00:19:44.18 Well, he exaggerated that. 00:19:44.21\00:19:45.88 So, all those things were at play, Junith, 00:19:45.91\00:19:47.92 I think, and yeah. 00:19:47.95\00:19:51.29 Aaron: Yeah, a telling verse is found about the deception 00:19:51.32\00:19:55.02 that Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 00:19:55.06\00:19:58.29 chapter 11 in verse 3. 00:19:58.33\00:20:00.40 We get a little insight into the deception of Eve. 00:20:00.43\00:20:02.63 It reads, Paul writes, he says, "But I fear, lest somehow, 00:20:02.66\00:20:06.47 as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, 00:20:06.50\00:20:10.61 so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity 00:20:10.64\00:20:14.58 that is in Christ." 00:20:14.61\00:20:15.98 And then he says what the deception was. 00:20:16.01\00:20:18.35 "For if he who comes preaches another Jesus 00:20:18.38\00:20:23.05 whom we have not preached," et cetera, et cetera, 00:20:23.08\00:20:26.45 he says, "You may well put up with it!" 00:20:26.49\00:20:29.06 So, what Satan did to Eve is, he presented to Eve 00:20:29.09\00:20:35.00 another version of who God is. 00:20:35.03\00:20:38.50 He made God to look like an overbearing, 00:20:38.53\00:20:41.60 overly restrictive God, a liar, 00:20:41.64\00:20:44.54 someone who can't be trusted and selfish. 00:20:44.57\00:20:47.74 Doug: He was afraid to share power and he was hiding it. 00:20:47.78\00:20:49.71 Aaron: Exactly, so when a picture is presented 00:20:49.74\00:20:51.91 of our loving God to be this tyrannical view, 00:20:51.95\00:20:55.32 well, then Eve was presented with these two pictures, 00:20:55.35\00:20:57.92 and she chose the wrong picture, and that caused her to rebel. 00:20:57.95\00:21:02.16 Doug: That's right, so Junith, 00:21:02.19\00:21:03.83 we do have a booklet that talks about temptation, 00:21:03.86\00:21:06.59 and we'll be happy to send you or anybody that wants 00:21:06.63\00:21:09.10 to have a free copy of that. 00:21:09.13\00:21:10.43 It's called "Tips for Resisting Temptation." 00:21:10.47\00:21:12.90 And Pastor Aaron, how do they get that? 00:21:12.93\00:21:16.44 Aaron: Well, you can dial in, if you have a cellphone, 00:21:16.47\00:21:19.47 to #250, that's #250, and simply say, 00:21:19.51\00:21:24.95 "Bible Answers Live," and there you will ask the person 00:21:24.98\00:21:30.75 that you'll speak to for the offer. 00:21:30.79\00:21:32.95 What was it again? 00:21:32.99\00:21:34.42 Doug: "Tips for Resisting Temptation." 00:21:34.46\00:21:35.96 Aaron: "Tips for Resisting Temptation." 00:21:35.99\00:21:38.46 Doug: Very good, okay, I think we're ready 00:21:38.49\00:21:39.79 for the next call. 00:21:39.83\00:21:41.10 Aaron: Alright, our next caller is calling in 00:21:41.13\00:21:42.93 from Illinois, and it is Gary. 00:21:42.96\00:21:45.83 Hello, Gary, are you there? 00:21:45.87\00:21:49.17 Gary: Yes, in 2 Thessalonians 2, 00:21:49.20\00:21:51.87 it says Satan will appear and perform signs, powers, 00:21:51.91\00:21:55.91 and miracles that will deceive 00:21:55.94\00:21:58.01 all those who love not the truth. 00:21:58.05\00:22:00.48 Are those people who love not the truth the same people 00:22:00.52\00:22:04.12 who bring believers before kings, authorities, 00:22:04.15\00:22:06.99 and principalities in Mark 13 where we're not to worry 00:22:07.02\00:22:11.06 about what we should say or premeditate, 00:22:11.09\00:22:15.23 but words will be given to us? 00:22:15.26\00:22:18.03 Are those the same people who deliver us to kings 00:22:18.07\00:22:21.74 and authorities, and is the Antichrist giving all those 00:22:21.77\00:22:26.31 who love not the truth a new philosophy, 00:22:26.34\00:22:29.01 a new doctrine, that Christians will have to answer to? 00:22:29.04\00:22:33.28 Doug: Okay, well, anybody who's rejecting the truth, 00:22:33.31\00:22:37.55 when God brings it through the Holy Spirit, 00:22:37.59\00:22:39.39 and they're convicted, and they stifle that, 00:22:39.42\00:22:43.09 they would fall under the category that they can come 00:22:43.12\00:22:45.73 to the place where they sincerely believe a lie because 00:22:45.76\00:22:48.26 they've rejected the truth. 00:22:48.30\00:22:49.93 When you take away light, the only thing left is darkness, 00:22:49.96\00:22:53.13 so it's nothing God is trying to trick them with a lie. 00:22:53.17\00:22:56.60 It's just when you reject truth, the only thing left is a lie. 00:22:56.64\00:22:59.34 And that would be the same group that will bring us before kings 00:22:59.37\00:23:02.91 and councils, and God says in that hour the Holy Spirit 00:23:02.94\00:23:05.35 will tell you what you ought to say in defense of the truth, 00:23:05.38\00:23:09.45 and we're hoping that at those occasions, 00:23:09.48\00:23:11.99 there are people listening who are still open. 00:23:12.02\00:23:14.22 When Paul was being tried on a number of occasions, 00:23:14.26\00:23:17.89 when Paul was being persecuted and tried in front of different 00:23:17.93\00:23:22.23 groups, there were people in the crowd listening to him give 00:23:22.26\00:23:25.70 a faithful witness that were convicted 00:23:25.73\00:23:28.07 and later became believers. 00:23:28.10\00:23:30.21 I'm thinking about Sergius Paulus who ended up believing, 00:23:30.24\00:23:33.91 even though Bar-Jesus was resisting, 00:23:33.94\00:23:36.41 the sorcerer was resisting Paul's words. 00:23:36.44\00:23:39.01 So, yeah, I think anybody rejecting the truth falls 00:23:39.05\00:23:43.69 in that category. 00:23:43.72\00:23:45.39 Aaron: Yeah, if those who reject the truth, 00:23:45.42\00:23:47.12 it's all throughout biblical history, 00:23:47.16\00:23:48.82 that they have a tendency to persecute God's people 00:23:48.86\00:23:51.29 and bring us before trials. 00:23:51.33\00:23:53.90 Doug: And some will be sincere. 00:23:53.93\00:23:55.20 I mean, Paul, when he was persecuting Christians, 00:23:55.23\00:23:57.23 he thought he was helping God out, 00:23:57.27\00:24:00.07 and he just was wrong. 00:24:00.10\00:24:01.97 Aaron: Yeah, yeah. 00:24:02.00\00:24:03.61 Doug: Alright, we got maybe time for one more 00:24:03.64\00:24:04.94 before our break, let's see. 00:24:04.97\00:24:06.31 Aaron: Alright, our next caller is calling in from Texas, 00:24:06.34\00:24:09.08 and it's Jerry. 00:24:09.11\00:24:10.51 Hello, Jerry, are you there? What is your question? 00:24:10.55\00:24:13.45 Jerry: Hi, Aaron, just a side note. 00:24:13.48\00:24:15.35 I first saw you on TV two weeks ago and I called your father, 00:24:15.38\00:24:19.95 Larry. 00:24:19.99\00:24:21.29 He's been my friend for a few years. 00:24:21.32\00:24:23.53 Anyway, my question is that there's many verses 00:24:23.56\00:24:28.66 in the Bible that refer to this. 00:24:28.70\00:24:30.90 The verse I'm thinking now is 1 Samuel 4:4, 00:24:30.93\00:24:35.44 and it says, "So the people sent to Shiloh and from there 00:24:35.47\00:24:39.21 they carried the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord of Hosts, 00:24:39.24\00:24:42.81 who sits above the cherubim," and of course it says 00:24:42.84\00:24:46.92 two sons of Samuel. 00:24:46.95\00:24:49.92 But it is possible that Jesus Christ 00:24:49.95\00:24:54.72 was the other guarding angel above the throne of God? 00:24:54.76\00:25:00.63 Doug: I don't think so, and part of the reason is 00:25:00.66\00:25:03.10 you have a more vivid picture. 00:25:03.13\00:25:05.13 The Ark itself was just a miniature depiction 00:25:05.17\00:25:08.94 of God's throne in heaven with the two angels. 00:25:08.97\00:25:11.07 When you look in Isaiah chapter 6, 00:25:11.11\00:25:13.01 he's in the presence of God and it says there's these 00:25:13.04\00:25:15.84 two cherubim that are saying, "Holy, holy, holy." 00:25:15.88\00:25:18.41 Jesus is the one to be worshiped, 00:25:18.45\00:25:21.88 and so Jesus wouldn't be the angel on the right or the left, 00:25:21.92\00:25:25.35 He's not an angel, Jesus is God the Son, 00:25:25.39\00:25:29.06 and it says in Hebrews, "The angels worship him." 00:25:29.09\00:25:33.23 So, if you think the two angels that directed both Solomon and 00:25:33.26\00:25:36.67 Moses, that those angels would be faced towards each other 00:25:36.70\00:25:39.53 inward, with their faces down, 00:25:39.57\00:25:41.37 kind of like the picture in Isaiah. 00:25:41.40\00:25:43.14 It says they're covering their faces in Isaiah 00:25:43.17\00:25:45.27 because the presence of God is there. 00:25:45.31\00:25:47.54 And their attention is focused on the one who's on the throne, 00:25:47.58\00:25:51.98 which would be Christ, and you know, 00:25:52.01\00:25:55.68 you could also say the Father, because Jesus, 00:25:55.72\00:25:57.95 He sits down it says at the right hand of the Father. 00:25:57.99\00:26:00.72 But that's a picture of God in the middle. 00:26:00.76\00:26:04.56 Aaron: Yeah, Jesus, I mean, Revelation chapter 3, 00:26:04.59\00:26:07.50 He's seated on the throne with God the Father, right? 00:26:07.56\00:26:11.63 He overcame and was seated at the right hand of the throne 00:26:11.67\00:26:13.70 of God, so Jesus is definitely there on the throne. 00:26:13.74\00:26:16.87 We don't know who the other angel is. 00:26:16.91\00:26:20.68 Maybe some people speculate to a degree, 00:26:20.71\00:26:23.28 maybe it's Gabriel, right? 00:26:23.31\00:26:24.68 But the ultimate thing is the Bible is not clear exactly 00:26:24.71\00:26:27.08 who the other fallen angel, excuse me, 00:26:27.12\00:26:29.65 the other unfallen angel was. 00:26:29.68\00:26:32.59 Doug: Yeah, it would be- I think that one at least 00:26:32.62\00:26:35.09 is Gabriel. 00:26:35.12\00:26:36.46 Some of my Catholic friends say one of them is a guy 00:26:36.49\00:26:38.23 named Raphael, but I don't know where they get that. 00:26:38.26\00:26:40.40 Hey, friends, you can hear the music. 00:26:40.43\00:26:41.90 We're going to take a break and be back 00:26:41.93\00:26:43.26 with more Bible questions. 00:26:43.30\00:26:44.67 announcer: Stay tuned, "Bible Answers Live" will return 00:26:49.14\00:26:52.17 shortly. announcer: Can't get enough Amazing Facts Bible 00:26:57.15\00:26:59.38 study? 00:30:49.48\00:30:51.95 Brittany: Yeah, my question is with all the problems 00:30:51.98\00:30:56.79 of the world we have today, does all this involve the sign 00:30:56.82\00:31:03.46 of the times mentioned in Matthew 24 and Revelation 13? 00:31:03.49\00:31:11.13 Doug: Okay, good question. 00:31:11.17\00:31:13.13 Now, Matthew 24, while there are three or four places 00:31:13.17\00:31:16.77 in the New Testament where Jesus kind of highlights 00:31:16.81\00:31:19.31 signs of His return, 00:31:19.34\00:31:21.24 you've got Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 17, and Luke 21. 00:31:21.28\00:31:28.02 There's nothing specifically in John, 00:31:28.05\00:31:29.72 but twice in Luke. 00:31:29.75\00:31:31.12 And then when you say Revelation 13, 00:31:31.15\00:31:34.49 that's a little more specific when you're talking about the 00:31:34.52\00:31:37.23 beast and the mark of the beast, though some of that has 00:31:37.26\00:31:39.53 already been fulfilled in history. 00:31:39.56\00:31:41.73 And I tell people if you want, at the end of the response here, 00:31:41.76\00:31:45.87 you can also request the lesson on, you know, 00:31:45.90\00:31:48.80 who is the Antichrist, and you'll see how that prophecy 00:31:48.84\00:31:51.17 is already being fulfilled. 00:31:51.21\00:31:53.44 But as far as signs, you know, Pastor Crews, 00:31:53.48\00:31:56.24 I did an online Bible study last week 00:31:56.28\00:31:59.21 that was translated in Chinese. 00:31:59.25\00:32:01.72 It was a live study, and there was about over 200,000 people 00:32:01.75\00:32:05.92 tuned into the stream. 00:32:05.95\00:32:07.62 And the subject was seven signs of Christ's return. 00:32:07.66\00:32:10.63 In fact, I'll be in Australia next week, 00:32:10.66\00:32:12.63 and I'll be also presenting that study. 00:32:12.66\00:32:14.76 And I was going through just things like conditions in 00:32:14.83\00:32:18.60 the world today with everything from overpopulation to, 00:32:18.63\00:32:22.57 you know, the threat of wars and rumors of wars, 00:32:22.60\00:32:25.51 and Jesus said in Matthew 24 there will be plagues. 00:32:25.54\00:32:28.71 I think, you know, most people would agree the pandemic was 00:32:28.74\00:32:31.75 in that category, though not as bad as the Spanish flu, 00:32:31.78\00:32:35.32 it was still a deadly plague. 00:32:35.35\00:32:37.39 But there's always been wars, there's always been plagues, 00:32:37.42\00:32:41.72 the things that make it different today, 00:32:41.76\00:32:43.93 in my mind, a couple of things. 00:32:43.96\00:32:45.79 One is in Daniel chapter 12, Jesus said many will run 00:32:45.83\00:32:51.37 to and fro and knowledge will increase. 00:32:51.40\00:32:54.24 Well, you look at the explosive increase in knowledge 00:32:54.27\00:32:57.17 in the last 100 years in technology. 00:32:57.21\00:33:00.18 Wisdom has not increased, 00:33:00.21\00:33:01.74 but knowledge has certainly increased. 00:33:01.78\00:33:03.65 And just everything is kind of going robotic with artificial 00:33:03.68\00:33:06.38 intelligence, and all my life people have accused me 00:33:06.41\00:33:09.98 of having artificial intelligence. 00:33:10.02\00:33:12.29 This is a new meaning now. 00:33:12.32\00:33:15.36 And then you also have something different. 00:33:15.39\00:33:18.09 It says the gospel will be preached, 00:33:18.13\00:33:19.73 this is Matthew 24:14, "The gospel will be preached 00:33:19.76\00:33:22.90 in all the world for a witness unto the nations, 00:33:22.93\00:33:25.23 and then the end will come." 00:33:25.27\00:33:27.47 And now, through things like this program that's going out 00:33:27.50\00:33:30.77 on the internet around the world, and radio, 00:33:30.81\00:33:33.64 and television, and the printed page, 00:33:33.68\00:33:35.38 and missionaries, and there's so many means right now 00:33:35.41\00:33:38.08 to rapidly communicate with the world. 00:33:38.11\00:33:40.45 It doesn't say everyone would believe and be converted, 00:33:40.48\00:33:43.02 it says as a witness. 00:33:43.05\00:33:45.12 And the gospel is going around the world, 00:33:45.15\00:33:46.92 I think in this generation. 00:33:46.96\00:33:48.82 So, I don't worry about the Second Coming, 00:33:48.86\00:33:51.76 I'm actually very excited about it, 00:33:51.79\00:33:53.43 because if you're ready, then it's a glorious appearing, 00:33:53.46\00:33:56.50 you're looking forward to it. 00:33:56.53\00:33:58.30 But yes, I do think we are living in the last days. 00:33:58.33\00:34:00.77 No man knows the day and the hour. 00:34:00.80\00:34:03.54 I mean, during World War II they thought this is the end 00:34:03.57\00:34:06.07 of the world with the nuclear bomb, 00:34:06.11\00:34:08.24 and here we are 70 years later. 00:34:08.28\00:34:10.61 But you look at the explosion of the population around the world, 00:34:10.65\00:34:14.85 and the resources that are being consumed exponentially quicker, 00:34:14.88\00:34:21.12 I guess that says the same thing. 00:34:21.16\00:34:23.93 You wonder how much longer can it last? 00:34:23.96\00:34:25.99 Aaron: Yeah, and a key verse is Matthew 24 verse 8. 00:34:26.03\00:34:30.10 Jesus says all of these signs that you're seeing in the world 00:34:30.13\00:34:32.50 are like birth pains. 00:34:32.53\00:34:34.57 Some translations will say sorrows. 00:34:34.60\00:34:36.37 In the original Greek it's birth pains, 00:34:36.40\00:34:38.47 and the thing about birth pains is, 00:34:38.51\00:34:40.34 is that birth pains get more frequent and more intense 00:34:40.38\00:34:43.81 the closer you get to the delivery of the child, 00:34:43.85\00:34:46.28 right? 00:34:46.31\00:34:47.62 So, wars, rumors of wars, pestilence, right, 00:34:47.65\00:34:49.62 COVID-19, global pandemic, 00:34:49.65\00:34:51.35 all of these various signs are going to get more frequent 00:34:51.39\00:34:53.96 and more intense the closer we're getting. 00:34:53.99\00:34:55.86 And that's exactly what we're seeing around the world today. 00:34:55.89\00:34:58.59 Doug: Yeah, even with the natural disasters. 00:34:58.63\00:35:00.36 Insurance companies say that it seems like their intensity 00:35:00.40\00:35:03.26 and frequency is increasing. 00:35:03.30\00:35:05.90 And Jesus mentions earthquakes in Matthew 24. 00:35:05.93\00:35:08.20 Thank you, Brittany. 00:35:08.24\00:35:09.47 We do have a study guide that talks about the Second Coming 00:35:09.50\00:35:13.21 of Jesus, and we'll be happy to send you a free copy of that. 00:35:13.24\00:35:17.65 It's called "The Ultimate Deliverance." 00:35:17.68\00:35:19.31 Aaron: Alright, our next caller is Abigail 00:35:19.35\00:35:23.52 who's calling in from Florida. 00:35:23.55\00:35:25.25 Welcome to "Bible Answers Live," Abigail. 00:35:25.29\00:35:27.86 What is your question? 00:35:27.89\00:35:29.86 Abigail: Hi, how are you, pastors? 00:35:29.89\00:35:31.56 Doug: Doing great. Aaron: Doing well. 00:35:31.59\00:35:33.96 Abigail: My question is about 1 Corinthians 11:2-12 00:35:34.00\00:35:37.77 which discusses head coverings. 00:35:37.80\00:35:40.87 I am wondering what this portion means exactly, 00:35:40.90\00:35:43.97 and if women are still supposed to wear something that covers 00:35:44.01\00:35:46.91 the head while praying or prophesying today? 00:35:46.94\00:35:50.71 Doug: Yeah, well, this is a difficult verse in that 00:35:50.75\00:35:55.92 when you read it, it would seem like it's saying, 00:35:55.95\00:35:59.35 well, I guess that women are not supposed to pray or teach 00:35:59.39\00:36:02.79 in public unless they have their head covered. 00:36:02.82\00:36:05.69 And the question is, since there's no command anywhere 00:36:05.73\00:36:10.30 in the Old Testament specifically saying this, 00:36:10.33\00:36:14.64 and because Paul uses the word later in the chapter, 00:36:14.67\00:36:18.07 he says we have no other custom, and so many have thought, 00:36:18.11\00:36:22.51 well, this was a custom of respect. 00:36:22.54\00:36:24.51 By the way, that's verse 16. 00:36:24.55\00:36:25.98 "If anyone seems to be contentious, 00:36:26.01\00:36:27.32 we have no such custom, nor do the churches of God." 00:36:27.35\00:36:29.98 Is this a Bible mandate? 00:36:30.02\00:36:32.35 It's understood that as a term of respect and/or submission 00:36:32.39\00:36:37.73 to their husbands, women were to cover their heads in public. 00:36:37.76\00:36:41.43 I know, Pastor Crews, when I travel to Europe and even 00:36:41.46\00:36:47.34 some places in India, the women always cover their heads. 00:36:47.37\00:36:50.77 I remember here in North America, 00:36:50.81\00:36:52.44 I went to give a Bible study to an apostolic Pentecostal lady, 00:36:52.47\00:36:57.48 and at the end when we knelt to pray, 00:36:57.51\00:36:59.95 she looked very nervous because she had nothing on her head, 00:37:00.05\00:37:03.85 and she grabbed the curtains. 00:37:03.89\00:37:06.09 She was by a curtain, she grabbed the curtains and put it 00:37:06.12\00:37:08.22 over her head, because she was very sensitive about praying 00:37:08.26\00:37:10.83 in public not having her head covered. 00:37:10.86\00:37:13.53 And that always struck me, and I thought, well, you know, 00:37:13.56\00:37:16.43 I have no problem, 00:37:16.46\00:37:17.77 you see, the Mennonites, the ladies often 00:37:17.80\00:37:20.04 have their heads covered, if someone wants to do this, 00:37:20.07\00:37:22.84 but I don't think we can make a command out of it, 00:37:22.87\00:37:25.44 because the Bible says in the mouth of two or three witnesses, 00:37:25.47\00:37:27.81 you've got this one verse, we're wondering is this a custom? 00:37:27.84\00:37:31.18 If it was a command, you'd see some other corroborating 00:37:31.21\00:37:34.98 evidence somewhere else, I think. 00:37:35.02\00:37:36.99 Aaron: Our next caller is calling in from New York. 00:37:37.02\00:37:39.25 We have Frank on the line, hello, Frank. 00:37:39.29\00:37:42.56 Frank: Yes, hi, Pastor Crews and Pastor Doug. 00:37:42.59\00:37:47.66 I have a question that, you know, 00:37:47.66\00:37:51.10 I've gotten in a little bit of trouble with this, 00:37:51.13\00:37:53.50 but nevertheless, I've managed to tackle it to the best 00:37:53.54\00:37:56.40 of my abilities. 00:37:56.44\00:37:58.04 I read in the Bible that it's an abomination to look into 00:37:58.07\00:38:02.54 the occult and to do things that are against the will of God 00:38:02.58\00:38:08.08 in the sense of godliness, and my question is, 00:38:08.12\00:38:12.59 is it a sin in itself to research devil worship 00:38:12.62\00:38:20.10 and sorcery? 00:38:20.13\00:38:23.30 Is there a Scripture in the Bible that says that it's better 00:38:23.33\00:38:25.90 to just be a Christian and follow God's principles 00:38:25.93\00:38:29.14 and God's laws rather than, you know, 00:38:29.17\00:38:33.84 indwell and ponder upon what devil worship is? 00:38:33.88\00:38:38.28 Doug: Well, that's a great question. 00:38:38.31\00:38:40.45 You know, suppose you want to research what devil worship is 00:38:40.48\00:38:42.92 so that you can expose it and preach against it. 00:38:42.95\00:38:45.89 If you're researching it because you're intrigued and interested, 00:38:45.92\00:38:48.69 that would be very dangerous. 00:38:48.72\00:38:50.89 I think I would recommend that most people, 00:38:50.93\00:38:53.80 unless they have a special calling from God, 00:38:53.83\00:38:56.10 because they're encountering something that they do 00:38:56.13\00:38:58.27 a deeper study, but I heard about a pastor once that 00:38:58.30\00:39:01.64 he was on a commission on pornography in Washington, 00:39:01.67\00:39:05.57 and he thought to better understand what he's going to be 00:39:05.61\00:39:08.58 addressing in the commission, he needed to research pornography. 00:39:08.61\00:39:11.61 And in the process of researching it, 00:39:11.65\00:39:13.58 he became addicted to pornography. 00:39:13.62\00:39:15.55 So, I would say stay away from the unfruitful works 00:39:15.58\00:39:20.36 of darkness, as Paul says in Ephesians, 00:39:20.39\00:39:22.76 and just avoid these things. 00:39:22.79\00:39:24.69 You know, God says there shall not be found among you 00:39:24.73\00:39:26.86 anyone that consults the dead, or a soothsayer, 00:39:26.90\00:39:29.46 or a wizard, or a witch, and you become like what you look at, 00:39:29.50\00:39:34.64 so I'd say keep your eyes fixed on Jesus. 00:39:34.67\00:39:36.74 Aaron: Yeah, and the verse you just referenced 00:39:36.77\00:39:38.67 is Deuteronomy chapter 18 verses 10 through 12. 00:39:38.71\00:39:43.24 And then maybe this is a verse that will find itself 00:39:43.28\00:39:46.35 to be helpful. 00:39:46.38\00:39:47.98 It's in the New Testament, Ephesians chapter 5 verses 11 00:39:48.02\00:39:51.85 through 13 says, "Have no fellowship 00:39:51.89\00:39:54.46 with the unfruitful works of darkness, 00:39:54.49\00:39:57.29 but rather expose them." 00:39:57.33\00:39:59.36 But the question is, how do we expose them? 00:39:59.39\00:40:01.33 Well, Paul says, "For it is shameful even to speak 00:40:01.36\00:40:03.87 of those things which are done by them in secret. 00:40:03.90\00:40:06.27 But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, 00:40:06.30\00:40:11.44 for whatever makes manifest is light." 00:40:11.47\00:40:15.44 So, the way in which we should expose the darkness 00:40:15.48\00:40:18.08 isn't by joining the darkness, isn't by, you know, 00:40:18.11\00:40:22.28 digging ourselves deep into all the things that Satan is doing, 00:40:22.32\00:40:25.62 but rather proclaiming the light from God's Word, right? 00:40:25.65\00:40:29.96 Doug: Amen, that's the answer. 00:40:29.99\00:40:31.76 Thank you, Frank, I hope that helps a little bit. 00:40:31.79\00:40:34.36 And you know, Amazing Facts has a lesson called 00:40:34.40\00:40:36.93 "Does God Inspire Astrologers and Psychics?" 00:40:36.97\00:40:40.14 "Does God Inspire Astrologers and Psychics?" 00:40:40.80\00:40:43.64 If you'd like a free copy of that, you can either call 00:40:43.67\00:40:46.54 800-835-6747. 00:40:46.57\00:40:49.51 Or what else can they do? 00:40:49.54\00:40:50.95 Aaron: If you have a cellphone, 00:40:50.98\00:40:52.28 you can dial #250, #250, and ask for that resource. 00:40:52.31\00:40:59.59 Doug: Yeah, I think you just say, 00:40:59.62\00:41:01.02 "Bible Answers Live," and it'll direct you. 00:41:01.06\00:41:02.52 Alright, who's next? 00:41:02.56\00:41:03.93 Aaron: Alright, our next caller is Steve, 00:41:03.96\00:41:07.30 calling in from Texas, and it looks like you're a first-time 00:41:07.36\00:41:10.27 caller, Steve. 00:41:10.30\00:41:11.60 Welcome to our program. 00:41:11.63\00:41:13.27 Steve: Well, thank you. 00:41:13.30\00:41:14.67 Greetings from Texas. 00:41:14.70\00:41:17.07 I was curious about who was running the store in heaven 00:41:17.11\00:41:25.98 when Jesus was down here on earth? 00:41:26.01\00:41:29.42 Was there any priestly duties going on, 00:41:29.45\00:41:32.42 and who was doing that? 00:41:32.45\00:41:34.09 Doug: Okay, that's a good question. 00:41:34.12\00:41:35.76 So, when you think about Christ as our High Priest, 00:41:35.79\00:41:38.76 the Bible tells us that in Hebrews, 00:41:38.79\00:41:40.73 and what a priest typically does is, he is offering blood 00:41:40.76\00:41:44.07 and sacrifice. 00:41:44.10\00:41:45.40 He's, you know, pleading the blood of the sacrifice, 00:41:45.43\00:41:47.74 and he's a mediator for the people. 00:41:47.77\00:41:49.77 Well, Christ has always been our mediator, 00:41:49.80\00:41:51.97 but it wasn't until the sacrifice of Jesus 00:41:52.01\00:41:55.31 that He went before the Father pleading His blood. 00:41:55.34\00:41:58.48 Up until then, there was the ceremonial system, 00:41:58.51\00:42:02.22 and the temple on earth, and the sacrifices on earth 00:42:02.25\00:42:04.72 that prefigured what Jesus would ultimately do. 00:42:04.75\00:42:08.36 So, when we talk about the temple of heaven, 00:42:08.39\00:42:10.36 you keep two things in mind. 00:42:10.39\00:42:11.96 You've got the dwelling place of God where you've got the throne 00:42:11.99\00:42:14.36 of God in heaven, and God's always been on his throne, 00:42:14.40\00:42:18.43 but then as far as the priestly ministry, 00:42:18.47\00:42:21.14 which is unique to sin, Jesus did not really activate 00:42:21.17\00:42:25.04 that until after His sacrifice. 00:42:25.07\00:42:28.24 So, we have a study guide, Steve, 00:42:28.28\00:42:31.75 that talks about the temple in heaven, 00:42:31.78\00:42:35.68 and it's called "God Drew the Plan," and we will send you 00:42:35.72\00:42:38.95 a free copy if you'd like. 00:42:38.99\00:42:40.32 It's called "God Drew the Plan." 00:42:40.36\00:42:42.12 How do they get that? 00:42:42.16\00:42:43.53 Aaron: They can get that by calling in to 1-800-835-6747 00:42:43.56\00:42:49.26 and saying, "Bible Answers Live," 00:42:49.30\00:42:51.17 or if you have a cellphone, 00:42:51.20\00:42:52.67 just dial #250 and say, "Bible Answers Live." 00:42:52.70\00:42:56.74 Alright, our next caller we have here calling in from Illinois, 00:42:56.77\00:43:01.84 and his name is Larry. 00:43:01.88\00:43:03.41 Larry, my father's name is Larry, 00:43:03.45\00:43:05.01 so it's a great name to have. 00:43:05.05\00:43:07.55 Welcome to the show. 00:43:07.58\00:43:09.78 Larry: Welcome, thank you. Okay, so here it is. 00:43:09.82\00:43:13.25 I got a friend, 30 years ago my friend and I were baptized 00:43:13.29\00:43:16.62 together in the Remnant Church, and we keep 00:43:16.66\00:43:20.13 the Ten Commandments, the seven-day Sabbath, 00:43:20.16\00:43:22.30 and the faith of Jesus, so my question is now for my friend, 00:43:22.33\00:43:27.97 because I'm concerned about him. 00:43:28.00\00:43:29.70 For five years, he has no worship in a church, 00:43:29.74\00:43:33.11 in a denomination, he gives no tithe, 00:43:33.14\00:43:35.81 and I see him now and then. 00:43:35.84\00:43:38.98 Did he lose the salvation in the Remnant Church? 00:43:39.01\00:43:43.18 And that's sort of my question, and how do I help him? 00:43:43.22\00:43:46.52 Doug: Okay, well, the important part of that question is, 00:43:46.55\00:43:50.16 can a person who once fellowshipped, 00:43:50.19\00:43:53.83 can they slip away? 00:43:53.86\00:43:55.90 And the answer is clearly yes. 00:43:55.93\00:43:58.17 You know, Paul makes it very clear. 00:43:58.20\00:43:59.80 He says I could preach to others and myself be cast away. 00:43:59.83\00:44:02.57 You've got examples in the Bible of people who-Hebrews chapter 6, 00:44:02.60\00:44:07.58 you know, they walked with the Lord, 00:44:07.61\00:44:09.14 but they turned away and it says it's impossible to renew them 00:44:09.18\00:44:13.45 to repentance. 00:44:13.48\00:44:14.78 Now, that would be a unique case, 00:44:14.82\00:44:16.12 but clearly they've turned away. 00:44:16.15\00:44:18.09 In Revelation it says repent or I'll take your candlestick 00:44:18.12\00:44:20.99 out of it's place, and he's speaking to the churches. 00:44:21.02\00:44:23.49 So, how do you reach a friend or a loved one that is drifting? 00:44:23.53\00:44:27.76 There's typically four things you can do. 00:44:27.76\00:44:30.93 One is, be a good witness to them. 00:44:30.97\00:44:34.14 Two, pray for them. 00:44:34.17\00:44:36.47 Three, if they're open, and this is where it gets 00:44:36.50\00:44:39.17 a little delicate, share information. 00:44:39.21\00:44:41.14 You can't, you know, force a person to listen. 00:44:41.18\00:44:42.98 If you're preaching to your kids and others all the time, 00:44:43.01\00:44:45.35 you're just going to drive them away, 00:44:45.38\00:44:46.98 but if they're open, give them a DVD or magazine, 00:44:47.02\00:44:50.02 or share with them, or a Bible study. 00:44:50.05\00:44:51.92 Give them a website to look at, 00:44:51.95\00:44:54.32 and so they can read on their own. 00:44:54.36\00:44:57.03 And then the fourth thing is do the first three patiently. 00:44:57.06\00:45:01.43 Don't give up. 00:45:01.46\00:45:02.76 Keep doing the first three. 00:45:02.80\00:45:04.27 There's really nothing else you can do. 00:45:04.30\00:45:06.43 Be a good witness, pray, and pray very powerful, 00:45:06.47\00:45:10.11 and share information, and continue, persist. 00:45:10.14\00:45:15.78 Aaron: Amen, yeah, King Solomon was clearly 00:45:15.81\00:45:19.55 with the Lord for much of his life, but then, 00:45:19.58\00:45:22.12 it was mentioned a little bite earlier in our show 00:45:22.15\00:45:24.79 at the beginning, is this brother definitely backslid, 00:45:24.82\00:45:27.96 and he, in the Book of Ecclesiastes, 00:45:27.99\00:45:30.73 he describes his life where he just went full-on worldly, 00:45:30.76\00:45:34.03 but he still came back to the Lord, right? 00:45:34.10\00:45:36.97 So, you can be with the Lord, leave him, 00:45:37.00\00:45:38.97 but then still come back, so continue to pray 00:45:39.00\00:45:41.60 for your friend, your brother in Christ, and yeah, 00:45:41.64\00:45:45.24 just persevere in those prayers. 00:45:45.27\00:45:47.48 Well, Larry, thanks so much for calling. 00:45:47.51\00:45:49.88 Our next caller is Lee, calling in from Texas. 00:45:49.91\00:45:54.65 Lee, welcome to "Bible Answers Live." 00:45:54.68\00:45:57.12 What's your question? 00:45:57.15\00:45:59.49 Yes, thank you. 00:45:59.52\00:46:00.96 Yes, my question is, after the seven last plagues, 00:46:00.99\00:46:03.56 will people still remain on earth until Christ appears, 00:46:03.59\00:46:07.76 or does he appear immediately after the seven last plagues, 00:46:07.76\00:46:10.67 or is there maybe, like, a few days after 00:46:10.70\00:46:12.83 the seven last plagues and then he appears? 00:46:12.87\00:46:16.20 Doug: Well, Pastor Crews may look this up for me, 00:46:16.24\00:46:18.44 but the seventh plague is synonymous, 00:46:18.47\00:46:23.35 and I think this is going to be in Revelation 16, yeah. 00:46:23.38\00:46:27.68 The seventh plague is synonymous with the Second Coming. 00:46:27.72\00:46:31.82 So, that great earthquake and the hail that falls from heaven, 00:46:31.85\00:46:35.22 this is the coming of the Lord. 00:46:35.26\00:46:37.59 And so, at the conclusion of the seventh plague, 00:46:37.63\00:46:40.13 it's a plague for the lost, but it's really salvation 00:46:40.16\00:46:42.10 for the saved. 00:46:42.13\00:46:43.43 Keep in mind when the tenth plague fell upon the Egyptians, 00:46:43.47\00:46:47.10 that tenth plague was the harbinger that Israel 00:46:47.14\00:46:49.64 was going to begin it's journey the next day. 00:46:49.67\00:46:52.17 And so, it's interesting there were ten plagues on Egypt, 00:46:52.21\00:46:56.85 the last seven plagues, God of protected 00:46:56.88\00:46:59.61 the children of Israel. 00:46:59.65\00:47:01.55 And it was at the end of the last seven plagues 00:47:01.58\00:47:03.79 for the Israelites that they were delivered, 00:47:03.82\00:47:06.82 and it's the last seven that they were protected from, 00:47:06.86\00:47:09.12 and it's at the end of the seven plagues in Revelation. 00:47:09.16\00:47:13.36 Aaron: Yeah, and that seventh plague that you're referring to 00:47:13.40\00:47:15.80 is at the end of Revelation chapter 16. 00:47:15.83\00:47:19.13 The last few verses, you can read that, 00:47:19.17\00:47:20.90 and it's clearly the Second Coming of Jesus, 00:47:20.94\00:47:23.54 is strongly, you know, described there. 00:47:23.57\00:47:27.14 Doug: Yeah, thank you, appreciate your question, Lee. 00:47:27.18\00:47:29.68 Aaron: Alright, our next caller is calling in from North Dakota, 00:47:29.71\00:47:34.85 and his name is Tom. 00:47:34.88\00:47:36.35 Hey, Tom, welcome to the show. 00:47:36.38\00:47:38.42 What's your question? 00:47:38.45\00:47:39.79 Tom: Thank you, yeah, I was calling regarding a conversation 00:47:39.82\00:47:43.09 with a friend regarding the manner in which Jesus 00:47:43.12\00:47:45.83 is coming the second time. 00:47:45.86\00:47:47.50 And I shared with him 1 Thessalonians 16 to 17, 00:47:47.50\00:47:52.33 ascending to meet him in the clouds of heaven. 00:47:52.37\00:47:57.14 They had the question then, how do we reconcile 00:47:57.17\00:48:00.94 Zechariah 14:1-5, where he is standing on the Mount of Olives, 00:48:00.98\00:48:08.42 it splits in two, the day of the Lord? 00:48:08.45\00:48:12.45 Doug: So, I'm still not sure. 00:48:12.49\00:48:15.19 When it says in Zechariah that the feet of the Lord touch 00:48:15.22\00:48:18.53 the Mount of Olives, this is happening at the end 00:48:18.56\00:48:21.10 of the one thousand years. 00:48:21.13\00:48:22.70 The Second Coming, let me explain it, 00:48:22.73\00:48:26.27 and then I think it'll become clear. 00:48:26.30\00:48:29.24 Jesus went to heaven, John 14, he said, 00:48:29.27\00:48:31.71 "I go to prepare a place for you. 00:48:31.74\00:48:33.61 And if I go prepare a place for you, 00:48:33.64\00:48:35.04 I will come again and receive you unto myself, 00:48:35.08\00:48:37.91 that where I am, you might be." 00:48:37.95\00:48:40.05 He comes, he takes us up, we are caught up to meet him 00:48:40.08\00:48:42.72 in the air, 1 Thessalonians 4. 00:48:42.75\00:48:44.59 He doesn't touch the ground at that point. 00:48:44.62\00:48:46.79 We live and reign with Christ for a thousand years, 00:48:46.82\00:48:49.19 but then you read in Revelation chapter 21, 00:48:49.22\00:48:52.36 he sees the new Jerusalem coming down from God out of heaven, 00:48:52.39\00:48:55.50 the redeemed of course are with him in the city, 00:48:55.53\00:48:57.87 that's when his feet touch the Mount of Olives, 00:48:57.90\00:49:00.57 he creates a great valley, the new Jerusalem settles down 00:49:00.60\00:49:03.77 into this incredible valley that's been created 00:49:03.81\00:49:05.71 by the Lord touching the earth again. 00:49:05.74\00:49:08.81 And that also fits in with Zechariah chapter 14 00:49:08.84\00:49:11.85 where his feet touch. 00:49:11.88\00:49:13.18 At that point, his feet touch the earth. 00:49:13.21\00:49:14.88 It's interesting, Pastor Aaron, that Jesus, 00:49:14.92\00:49:17.89 he said I'm going to come as I left, 00:49:17.92\00:49:20.22 and it says he ascended from Bethany on the Mount of Olives, 00:49:20.26\00:49:23.46 an area right between the two, and he's coming back 00:49:23.49\00:49:26.09 to the Mount of Olives. 00:49:26.13\00:49:27.50 So, he's literally coming back where he ascended, 00:49:27.50\00:49:29.76 and his feet are going to touch where they left it off, 00:49:29.80\00:49:32.10 probably. 00:49:32.13\00:49:33.37 Aaron: Yeah, yeah, so to just summarize what you just said, 00:49:33.40\00:49:35.97 Pastor Doug, is that at the Second Coming, 00:49:36.00\00:49:38.97 we know that he's not going to touch earth again, 00:49:39.01\00:49:41.71 but a thousand years, right, after his Second Coming, 00:49:41.74\00:49:45.45 he'll come a third time, along with all of the redeemed, 00:49:45.48\00:49:48.58 and that's when the new Jerusalem and his feet will 00:49:48.62\00:49:52.89 touch the earth, and that's when that prophecy of Zechariah 14 00:49:52.92\00:49:55.62 will reach a full fulfillment. 00:49:55.66\00:49:57.56 Doug: Yeah, the person may want to get our lesson 00:49:57.59\00:50:00.30 on the millennium to really study that, and it's called 00:50:00.33\00:50:03.93 "1,000 Years of Peace." 00:50:03.97\00:50:05.33 If you'd like a free copy, you can ask for it right now. 00:50:05.37\00:50:08.44 Aaron: Yeah, dial in #250 into your cellphone, 00:50:08.47\00:50:11.71 and say, "Bible Answers Live." 00:50:11.74\00:50:14.51 Alright, our next caller is calling in from Florida, 00:50:14.54\00:50:18.61 and we have Carlos. 00:50:18.65\00:50:20.18 Hi, Carlos, welcome to the show. 00:50:20.22\00:50:23.52 Carlos: Good evening, pastors. 00:50:23.55\00:50:26.89 So, my question is why were the Ten Commandments put into the 00:50:26.92\00:50:31.79 Ark of the Covenant and the rest of the law put out beside it? 00:50:31.83\00:50:38.63 What did this mean? 00:50:38.67\00:50:40.70 What was the purpose of that? 00:50:40.74\00:50:42.94 Doug: Well, there's a distinction made 00:50:42.97\00:50:44.31 between the two. 00:50:44.34\00:50:45.87 The most holy object on the planet was the Ten Commandments. 00:50:45.91\00:50:51.61 What I mean by that is, it was the Word of God, 00:50:51.65\00:50:54.85 and Jesus is the Word of God, and it was written on rock, 00:50:54.88\00:50:58.59 and Jesus is the Rock. 00:50:58.62\00:51:00.36 And in the holy city you've got the holy mountain, 00:51:00.39\00:51:03.32 and in the holy temple on the holy mountain you've got 00:51:03.36\00:51:05.43 the holy sanctuary, you got the holy place, 00:51:05.46\00:51:08.33 you got the Holy of Holies, and the only thing 00:51:08.36\00:51:10.07 in the Holy of Holies was the holy ark, 00:51:10.10\00:51:11.93 and in the holy ark you've got the holy law. 00:51:11.97\00:51:15.34 But the law of God was written with God's finger. 00:51:15.37\00:51:19.11 The ceremonial laws were written by the hand of Moses, 00:51:19.14\00:51:22.84 and it mentions those again in Colossians chapter 2. 00:51:22.88\00:51:25.65 And Moses said they're going to be there to be a witness 00:51:25.68\00:51:28.55 against you. 00:51:28.58\00:51:29.95 He's talking again about the ceremonial laws. 00:51:29.98\00:51:31.59 They were put in a pocked on the outside, 00:51:31.62\00:51:33.49 because they were of a passing nature, 00:51:33.52\00:51:35.56 where the ark, written by the hand of God, 00:51:35.59\00:51:37.73 was of an unchanging nature. 00:51:37.76\00:51:40.13 One was the hand of man, one was the finger of God, 00:51:40.16\00:51:42.90 one was written on stone, one was written on parchment, 00:51:42.93\00:51:46.30 or we'd say paper. 00:51:46.33\00:51:48.10 So, there was a distinction between the two, 00:51:48.14\00:51:50.84 one is permanent, eternal, and one is passing. 00:51:50.87\00:51:53.94 But it was still a sacred record for 2,000 years. 00:51:53.98\00:52:00.45 Thank you, Carlos, appreciate that and hope that-we do have 00:52:00.48\00:52:02.92 a lesson called "God Drew the Plans," and it talks 00:52:02.95\00:52:05.69 about the temple and the ark in that lesson. 00:52:05.72\00:52:09.52 Aaron: Yeah, and just for the other listeners, 00:52:09.56\00:52:11.56 the verse that Carols is referencing 00:52:11.59\00:52:14.30 is Deuteronomy 31 verse 26. 00:52:14.36\00:52:17.30 That's where it says, "The book of the law shall be placed 00:52:17.33\00:52:20.47 beside the ark," right, while the Ten Commandments 00:52:20.50\00:52:23.41 were placed inside of it. 00:52:23.44\00:52:25.44 Okay, I think we've got time for one more caller, 00:52:25.47\00:52:28.78 one more question. 00:52:28.81\00:52:30.11 We have Barbara calling in from Florida. 00:52:30.15\00:52:33.11 Welcome, Barbara, what is your question this evening for us? 00:52:33.15\00:52:37.49 Barbara: Hello, my question is in Ezekiel 16 verses 10 00:52:37.52\00:52:43.16 to 13, basically it talks about jewelry, 00:52:43.19\00:52:47.66 expensive clothes, so I was wondering is it okay for us 00:52:47.73\00:52:53.07 to wear jewelry and expensive clothes, 00:52:53.10\00:52:55.77 since it says it's okay in Ezekiel 16 verse 10 through 13? 00:52:55.80\00:53:02.34 Doug: Okay, in a Jewish wedding, 00:53:02.38\00:53:05.11 the dowery and the wedding gifts were often given, 00:53:05.15\00:53:08.95 they had no paper money, they were often given 00:53:08.98\00:53:10.89 in the form of the nice clothing. 00:53:10.92\00:53:13.49 You'll notice that Samson paid for his debt to the Philistines 00:53:13.52\00:53:18.23 with clothing. 00:53:18.26\00:53:19.79 But if you read what it says, for example, 00:53:19.83\00:53:24.00 you have to compare Scripture with Scripture to say, 00:53:24.03\00:53:26.07 well, how does God feel about jewelry? 00:53:26.10\00:53:29.04 Go to Isaiah chapter 3 and if you look here, 00:53:29.07\00:53:32.94 let me see where this beings. 00:53:32.97\00:53:35.44 Okay, we can say, yeah, "In that day," verse 18, 00:53:35.48\00:53:40.55 "In that day, the Lord will take away the finery," 00:53:40.58\00:53:42.65 the daughters of Zion, "The jingling anklets, 00:53:42.68\00:53:45.85 the scarves, the crescents, the pendants, the bracelets, 00:53:45.89\00:53:48.26 the veils, the headdresses, the leg ornaments, 00:53:48.29\00:53:51.19 the headbands, the perfume boxes, 00:53:51.23\00:53:53.09 the charms, and the rings, the nose jewels, 00:53:53.13\00:53:55.90 the festal apparel, the mantles, the outer garments, the purses," 00:53:55.93\00:53:59.43 so describing one is a wedding picture of God 00:53:59.47\00:54:04.44 marrying the church, but you also have to look at where Paul 00:54:04.47\00:54:08.21 says, "Let not the women be adorned with gold and pearls," 00:54:08.24\00:54:12.55 and Peter says, "Let it not be the outward adorning, 00:54:12.58\00:54:15.98 the wearing of gold," and that's in 1 Peter chapter 3. 00:54:16.02\00:54:18.95 We're running out of time. 00:54:18.99\00:54:21.12 I do have a book that I've written 00:54:21.16\00:54:22.79 on the subject of Christians and adornment. 00:54:22.82\00:54:25.53 Now, there's noting wrong with wearing, you know, 00:54:25.56\00:54:27.83 quality clothing that won't wear out. 00:54:27.86\00:54:29.53 Jesus had a nice robe that they didn't want to tear up. 00:54:29.56\00:54:32.43 But as far as the external frivolous adorning, you know, 00:54:32.47\00:54:37.34 someone will write a song about would Jesus wear 00:54:37.37\00:54:40.24 a Rolex? 00:54:40.28\00:54:42.01 You know, people made fun of evangelists and people 00:54:42.04\00:54:44.28 that dressed ostentatiously. 00:54:44.31\00:54:46.11 Christians should be modest in their apparel is 00:54:46.15\00:54:48.25 a practical principle. 00:54:48.28\00:54:51.69 So, the book is called "Jewelry, How Much is Too Much?" 00:54:51.72\00:54:56.69 "Jewelry, How Much is Too Much?" 00:54:56.73\00:54:58.53 Call 800-835-6747. 00:54:58.56\00:55:01.83 Quickly, for our friends listening, 00:55:01.86\00:55:03.37 we sign off in two stages. 00:55:03.40\00:55:05.30 We're going to say farewell to our friends listening 00:55:05.33\00:55:07.27 on satellite radio. 00:55:07.30\00:55:08.60 For the rest of you, we're coming back 00:55:08.64\00:55:09.94 in just a moment with the rapid-fire Bible questions. 00:55:09.97\00:55:12.81 announcer: Thank you for listening to today's broadcast. 00:55:15.31\00:55:17.85 We hope you understand your Bible even better than before. 00:55:17.88\00:55:21.22 "Bible Answers Live" is produced by Amazing Facts International, 00:55:21.25\00:55:25.32 a faith-based ministry located in Granite Bay, California. 00:55:25.35\00:55:29.46 Aaron: Hello, welcome back. 00:55:31.89\00:55:34.30 We have a few minutes left here, and we have some questions 00:55:34.36\00:55:37.27 that have been emailed to us. 00:55:37.30\00:55:40.00 So, Pastor Doug, we're going to try to get through as many 00:55:40.04\00:55:42.30 of these as we can, so our first question is this. 00:55:42.34\00:55:45.01 This is by Ari from Norway, intercontinental here. 00:55:45.04\00:55:49.64 "When Jesus was finished with his mission on earth, 00:55:49.68\00:55:53.42 did he then need his own redemptive services," 00:55:53.45\00:55:57.52 so to speak, "If he happened to sin in heaven, 00:55:57.55\00:56:01.06 since he is still a human?" 00:56:01.09\00:56:02.72 In other words, is it possible, could Jesus sin in heaven? 00:56:02.76\00:56:07.03 Doug: Well, the Bible tells us that Jesus did no sin. 00:56:07.66\00:56:11.53 Peter tells us that, that he is the sinless one. 00:56:11.57\00:56:14.74 And so, Christ is the only man that ever lived that never 00:56:14.77\00:56:18.24 sinned, so he didn't need to have any kind of redemption. 00:56:18.27\00:56:22.11 You know, when he rose from the dead, 00:56:22.14\00:56:23.55 he rose with a glorified body, he's pure and perfect, 00:56:23.58\00:56:26.45 and, heaven forbid, if he did need redemption, 00:56:26.48\00:56:31.89 his sacrifice on the cross would have covered that, 00:56:31.92\00:56:34.49 but he didn't. 00:56:34.52\00:56:36.36 Aaron: Yeah, the last person to ever sin will be Jesus. 00:56:36.39\00:56:40.23 Next question by Carlene. 00:56:40.26\00:56:43.30 She asks, "Why wasn't Satan destroyed at the flood? 00:56:43.33\00:56:47.17 And what is the difference between not destroying him 00:56:47.20\00:56:50.07 at the flood, but destroying him at the Second Coming?" 00:56:50.11\00:56:52.77 Doug: Yeah, good question. 00:56:52.81\00:56:54.11 Someone's thinking, well, the whole world was destroyed 00:56:54.14\00:56:55.68 and Satan was outside the ark, why wasn't he destroyed? 00:56:55.71\00:56:58.21 Well, Paul tells us in Ephesians 6 we don't wrestle 00:56:58.25\00:57:01.65 against flesh and blood. 00:57:01.68\00:57:03.15 You can't drown the devil, so to speak, in water. 00:57:03.18\00:57:06.02 He's a spirit. 00:57:06.05\00:57:07.89 And the reason he's destroyed is because the fire, 00:57:07.92\00:57:10.83 when the Lord comes back, is not going to be a three-dimensional 00:57:10.86\00:57:13.60 fire, it's going to be a fire that is going to be 00:57:13.63\00:57:16.16 the kind of fire that will also devour angels. 00:57:16.20\00:57:18.83 The Bible says that the presence of the Lord is a consuming fire, 00:57:18.87\00:57:22.47 and I don't understand the physics of it all, 00:57:22.50\00:57:25.47 but God is going to send out whatever nuclear spiritual fire 00:57:25.51\00:57:31.11 it is that the devil needs, and his angels, 00:57:31.15\00:57:33.11 to burn them up. 00:57:33.15\00:57:34.45 Aaron: Yeah, and one more principle real quick is 00:57:34.48\00:57:36.12 in Matthew 13. 00:57:36.15\00:57:37.45 Jesus tells a parable about the wheat and the tares. 00:57:37.49\00:57:39.79 And Jesus says, "Let both grow together until the harvest." 00:57:39.82\00:57:46.43 There's something about the full maturity of both righteousness 00:57:46.46\00:57:50.90 and wickedness before God brings a final end. 00:57:50.93\00:57:54.24 Doug: Yeah, and then it tells us in Matthew chapter 25:31, 00:57:54.27\00:58:01.18 it says, "Like a fire prepared for the devil and his angels," 00:58:01.21\00:58:04.61 Matthew 25 anyway. 00:58:04.65\00:58:06.08 Aaron: Yeah, there it is. 00:58:06.11\00:58:07.98 Doug: Well, hey, friends, out of time. 00:58:08.02\00:58:10.05 Send us more questions next week. 00:58:10.09\00:58:11.62 God bless, we look forward to studying with you again 00:58:11.65\00:58:14.29 next week. 00:58:14.32\00:58:15.62 And go to AmazingFacts.org. 00:58:15.66\00:58:17.49 announcer: "Bible Answers Live," honest and accurate answers 00:58:20.16\00:58:23.43 to your Bible questions. 00:58:23.47\00:58:25.47
